I figured my little buddy here deserved a bit of a zoom in focus on him before we move on to the final spreads of the month!

I'm in flares, which is making thinking much more difficult, and am frozen with indecision about my first half of 2024 journal setup and I just want someone to tell me what to do with it lmao 😭

June setup is back to the most basic bujo structure because my whole life is about to change and I'll have to rebuild my bujo system from the ground up!

Bit of art journaling I completed playing with today (though bits and bobs of it have been drawn and worked on over time) includes some drawing, direct to paper work with inks, accents with metallic acrylographs, and clearly lots of collage messing about.

Like a lot of people, i've recently been playing the video game Stray a lot (i finished it a couple of days ago) and decided to base my august bullet journal theme on it!
So for the title page i used watercolours and my Archer And Olive acrylograph pens to recreate one of my favourite cat nap spots in the entire game. The calendar page features the cat and his translator/friend B12. And the first weekly spread features one of the robots Momo.

Pen Review: Archer & Olive Acrylograph Cool Fall Colors
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Ana ordered 2 sets of Archer and Olive Acrylograph Pens. She reviewed the Warm Fall Color palette here. Today I get to review the Cool Fall Palette. I should start by saying that my speciality is needle arts, so I know next to nothing about paint pens. This is a set of 10 water based acrylic markers – 8 colors (Cool Fall), plus a white pen and a…

I’m different anon: I asked about your journals before. They are much prettier in your photos than on the site! And those boxes! Do you have a fave now you have them both in front of you?Have you had a chance to look at the mystery pens?
Hi A&O Anon.
They are heavier than I thought...I knew they would be hefty based on the the paper weight, but they have a nice sturdy weight to them. I mean UPS said the package weighed like 4lbs lmao.
I think the spiderweb one is my favorite. The broom one is cute, but I just feel it's lacking something and from a distance, the broom kind of looks like an upside down rose.
The pens are different Acrylograph Paint Pens and Calliograph Brush Pens. The Calliograph pens are dual tipped which is cool. I haven't tried them out yet, but I plan on taking everything to work today and testing things out.

Splurged a bit. First time trying any Archer & Olive products—I am very much enjoying the acrylograph markers, I think if I had had these when trying to make the black paper journal work, I would not have abandoned it! I started to film a little video of me doing some title lettering but the intern decided my tripod/lighting set up was no good. #bulletjournal #bujo #archerandolive https://www.instagram.com/p/CjiILCZrLex/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Class101: Learn How To Create Impassioned Colored Pencil Portraits Primsacolor and Faber-Castell colored pencils on Fabriano 140 lbs coldpress paper. I’m sure the more I continue to practice I’ll get better. What did I learn? Patience is key and don’t rush. Also I really don’t like the Gelly Roll white pens because they don’t seem to work for me when I need them. I used and Archer & Olive Acrylograph white pen. #class101korea #fabercastellpencils #primacolorpencils #archer&olive https://www.instagram.com/p/CgEmdCDOtUZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

November is famous for one specific flower in particular, the stunning (and very annoying to draw) chrysanthemum!

Setting up my new journal for 2022, needed a theme that would capture both the So Done With This Shit and the Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow sides of my personality.
Plus wordplay. And the burning of the goat. And my pretty new markers.

"Snow prince"
With the current weather i felt like drawing a little floofy snow kitty :D
It's been many years ago since we had so much snow (at some places it was knee high!)Also falling more and more in love with the mat finish of acryl paint markers!
Drawn with acrylograph pens +a white fine posca marker because the white pen of the acrylograph was to transparent weirdly enough, while the other colors where super opaque! And a purple sakura micron pen (for the lineart) on a small watercolor sketchbook.

Golden Afternoon Bullet Journal
I got into bullet journaling during the spring lockdowns, and I’ve really been enjoying it.  This journal was my sister’s 2020 birthday gift (finished months late due to great upheaval in my personal life, but it’s the thought that counts?) She loves the song “In The Golden Afternoon” from Alice in Wonderland, and I used that as a jump off point for the theme, which became flowers/nature.

(Completely forgot to take a picture of the frontispiece after I finished the book??? Derp.  Please ignore the sticky notes.)
The book is structured so that the first section spans the entire year, a kind of bird’s-eye overview, before being split into individual months.  The overview section has pages such as “About Me” “Favorite Quotes” “2021 Goals” etc. all out lined in washi tape and embellished with stickers.  Other sections are hand painted/inked:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each month section has a dutch door frontispiece.  When closed, it shows the name of the month and a corresponding poem; when opened, a calendar and two cocktail recipes are revealed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each month follows the same layout with different floral variations and mood trackers.  In order: goals, habits, gratitude, affirmations (those two with washi tape outlines only), health, mood, weather, and two blank pages labeled “[month] notes.”  The health and weather trackers are just grids; health gets ticked off on relevant days, and weather has squares to be tracked for temperature and a lot of space for regular notes (”nice sunset tonight” etc.)  The mood trackers are especially fun to create and to fill out.  They correspond to the theme far more loosely than the other pages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really loved doing the detail work.  I’ve been doodling in margins my entire life and it’s nice to see that blossom into something a little bit more structured and useful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last page in the book is one that looks back over the year before looking forward to the next volume.
Tumblr media
Guess I’ll start on the next one?

It was my birthday yesterday and I was surprised with this neopolitan archer and olive book! I’m going to have to get some gel pens for those black pages but I’m looking forward to using it (in January...)

Time for another bullet journal setup! I recently read The Secret Garden for the first time and enjoyed it so much I chose it for my March theme. Although there were some bits that didn’t age well, I’m always a sucker for the “literal ray of sunshine x grumpy asshole” dynamic, which we got with several characters. It was also quite lovely reading about the beauty of spring when the current weather is 15F with a chance of freezing rain.
Tumblr media
There was a lot of drawing for this setup, but the actual doodles were pretty easy: curlicues for the flowers, and wavy lines with leaves for the vines. And my color palette was chosen to match the washi tape! The green is an Acrylograph and the other colors are Crayola Supertips.
Tumblr media
I had a lot of fun with the cover page! The brick wall is a separate sheet of paper that I cut the door from and glued in. I drew on the brick and wood texture first and then drew vines all over the top. And if you’ve read the book, then you know why I had to include the robin.
Tumblr media
I did a Pinterest search for “secret garden aesthetic” and saw several pictures of a tree swing with the ropes cover in flowers. I’m quite pleased with my recreation.
Tumblr media
The sleep log was another Pinterest find. I like the minimalist look with the long vines going up each side.
Tumblr media
Trying a mood tracker for the first time this month! I don’t like using lots of colors when I’m filling in my journal throughout the month, so instead of a color for each mood I’m going to draw an emoji face in the middle of each flower. The layout of the flowers could be a little better, but it’s not bad for a first attempt (and I was going for sorta random anyway).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cut the edges from the weekly spread pages like I’ve been doing, so I can see my to-do list and cleaning tracker throughout the month. I drew a box for each day, one page per week. The first and last weeks aren’t full weeks because I don’t like flipping back and forth when the new month starts in the middle of a week, so I started with Tuesday the 1st and ended with Thursday the 31st.
