Your opinion on a thought I had over the weekend. Would an actor sabotage his own project to provide evidence to TPTB that the og show formula is what needs to be on air?
It still baffles me to this day that Jensen thought the prequel turned sequel AU concept of The Winchesters and the story framework of the 13 episodes would be a successful endeavor.
There was no effort put into the creation or marketing, especially by him, Robbie, Danneel or CMP production company. The execution was a small step up from a high school film project. The cast was inexperienced and apparently very inexpensive.
Jensen very quickly (even prior to the pilot airing) was pushing a reboot/revival with both Sam and Dean back on screen, and pushing it with more vigor and gusto than the TW project in production. It’s like he used the prequel/sequel project to drum up interest and excitement for a Sam/Dean reboot and to show WB execs why Supernatural (and J2) just needed a break.
Was this Jensen’s plan all along? Is that even plausible?
Thank you for your blog. I am a dedicated reader.
No. TV shows have 94% failure rates before syndication, so Jensen doesn't need to actively sabotage anything, the odds are always against you in Hollywood where even great tv shows get cancelled after 1 season and largely forgotten.
We were all baffled, Anon, it's what brought different SPN factions together in agreement and achieved temporary peace. Before that, nothing in the SPN fandom brings momentary peace than being united in fans’ hatred for the Buck-Lemming writing duo.
Jensen and Danneel probably expected Robbie Thompson to act like Eric Kripke 2.0 and manage everything for them. Where as Robbie expected Jensen and Danneel to pull their own weight. But there was no communication on expectations.
I think Jensen pushing a reboot/revival with both Sam and Dean back on screen prior to The Winchester airing was because:
The Winchesters was filming and will air so as far as Jensen was concerned, his work was done and he can focus on other things.
Jensen knew TW wasn't immediately accepted by at least half of the SPN fandom and tried to win them back with a promise of a Sam & Dean-focused SPN revival.
He wanted to keep SPN's money train running at conventions by giving rabid fans hope that SPN will return.
Jensen, my unasked advice to you is don’t go chasing waterfalls. The Winchesters was a Shein version of an AU fanfic.
WB executives cancelled SPN because they didn't trust a Jared-less SPN. Hollywood doesn't believe in breaks or letting a franchise "rest" unless it's losing money. The industry waits for nobody.
Honestly, that sounds too much like AAs/Hellers saying we got to watch The Winchesters so that we can get the SPN reboot/revival/movie.  That's like telling a vegan," I like steak, so you need to like steak so that we get more steak.". We're going to keep getting steaks regardless of vegans.

Happy 76th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.
Hayman, one of Scotland’s most acclaimed actors of stage and screen was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow on February 9th 1948.
David Hayman grew up as one of three children in a working class family in Drumchapel, Glasgow. Leaving school without any academic qualifications he started work as a would-be engineer at 16. One day, wearing his grease stained boiler suit, he marched into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and announced his intention to become an actor. He still has no idea where this came from, he is basically a shy person and there was no family history of acting. He took advice and joined an amateur dramatics group and a year later was accepted to study drama and has never been out of work since.
His film and television credits are, frankly, much too numerous to list but include his superb portrayal of hard man Jimmy Boyle in “Sense of Freedom” and, of course, he is recognisable everywhere as Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in Linda La Plante’s long running Trial and Retribution series. He has also starred in the hit Scottish cop drama Shetland as well as Scottish comedy shows Scotch & Wry, Rab C Nesbitt and Still Game.
Hayman has also directed numerous films and TV shows as well as regularly treading the boards in the Theatres.
Away from acting, David established his Glasgow-based charity Spirit Aid in 2001. It has gone on to become one of Scotland’s most successful small scale humanitarian organisations. He started Spirit Aid because he wanted to do a Scottish Live Aid at Hampden, but his rock stars let him down. “They were all, ‘Oh, man, I’m burned out,’ and I was thinking, ‘You’re sitting on your fat arse on your sofa with £40 million in the bank. Go and sit in a refugee camp in Afghanistan and tell me you’re burned out’. But I thought, I believe in this, I’ve got to keep going.”
He spends several months every year visiting his charity’s relief projects where he employs indigenous workers wherever possible. His fundraising operations include Operation Loo Roll, a project selling toilet paper that raised £100,000 in 2007. The charity undertakes humanitarian relief projects from Kosovo to Guinea-Bissau, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malawi and South Africa.
Hayman is a big campaigner for a Scottish film studio, which is looking like happening soon, he says “It takes the Americans to come in and build a shed where they shoot Outlander and that’s the nearest thing we have to a film studio, think of all the movies that we’ve lost, all the money that we’ve lost all the way back to Braveheart.”
David was recently in the fab comedy from Scottish director Michael Caton-Jones, Our Ladies, “set mainly in Edinburgh a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go to the capital for a choir competition, but they’re more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition” it is an adaptation of Scottish author, Alan Warner, of Morvern Callar fame’s third novel Sopranos, I read the book in the late 90’s it is a laugh out loud book, and the film is also very good.
Hayman was in an interesting film, My Neighbor Adolf, last year, which I haven’t got round to watching yet, set in 1960;s Brazil he plays a “lonely and grumpy” Holocaust survivor convinces himself that his new neighbour is none other than Adolf Hitler. We also saw him in the sequel Fisherman's Friends: One and All, both films get ratings of 6.2, and 6.4 on IMDB . I have just started a binge watch of Chemistry of Death, a Brit crime thriller series which is on Paramount plus. Last year David played a Chieftain in the Disney Star Wars prequal series Andor.
David won a top theatre award for his portrayal of northern Irishman, Eric, in the acclaimed play Cyprus Avenue last year, he has a couple of projects lined up, Jailbroken, an action crime thriller described as "the day before a violent criminal is due to be released from prison he receives a threatening call. Armed only with a mobile phone he must somehow save his family - and himself."And at the other end of the spectrumis a fantasy called Assassins Guild, "After the Mermaid Wars, Iliad's city is attacked by dark forces. With the city full of rancor and corruption, Death herself forms an alliance and offers Atticus, an elite fighter, the chance to return to life. This gift comes at a price."

David Tennant's Plays: An Experienced Woman Gives Advice (1995)
I haven't done a thread on any of David's plays in a while, so I had some time yesterday to rustle one up about his 1995 play, An Experienced Woman Gives Advice. It premiered 28 years ago yesterday (which was why I chose to do a deeper dive about it) so let's get into it! An Experienced Woman Gives Advice (I'll use EW to refer to the play from here on out because what a long title!) would be David's first time performing onstage at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prior to winning his role in EW, the last play David had done was What The Butler Saw as Nicholas Beckett, a role he was warmly praised for. What The Butler Saw ran for two months at five different venues around England before closing its run at the Nottingham Theatre Royal in late May 1995.
EW's playwright, Iain Heggie, had seen phenomenal success with his 1987 tour-de-force, A Wholly Healthy Glasgow. But in the years afterwards, Heggie had produced only a few more plays before deciding he'd rather go back to teaching and let his writing commence at its own pace.
Originally written as a miniature sex comedy, EW was long in development, and received further script development workshops at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in 1992, and at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in 1993.
Its world premiere would see Heggie's return to the stage.
Initially, it might have seemed odd that EW - with its Glasgow setting, Scottish writer, and fully Scottish cast - didn't make its debut in Scotland. But because Heggie and the Royal Exchange had similar actor-centered outlooks and many of the artistic directors in Scotland preferred a more visual style, Heggie chose to work with the Royal Exchange (who liked his work anyway) and the play made its debut in Manchester.
Previews for EW began at the Royal Exchange Manchester on 21 November 1995, with an opening day of 23 November 1995. It had a small cast of five: Siobhan Redmond as Bella, David Tennant as Kenny, Jenny McCrindle as Nancy, Alastair Galbraith as Irving, and Alexander Morton as Stick. It was directed by Matthew Lloyd, and its assistant director was Marianne Elliott.
The set, which was designed by Laurie Dennett, was quite sparse - a communal back garden and garden shed of a block of Glasgow tenement flats. The music was composed by Paddy Cunneen, who fans will recognize from many other projects he did with David, some of which I've previously done deep dives into (like Sunburst Finish, The Pillowman and Bite).
The three-act play had a runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, with two intervals - one 15 minutes in length, the other 10 minutes in length. It closed its run on 16 December 1995. Tickets were priced from £5.50 to £18, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Tumblr media
The action takes place on two Sunday mornings and opens with Bella, who's a 39 year old teacher, gardening in her back garden. We learn she's in a three-year long relationship with a live-in toyboy lover, Kenny (DT) who's a former pupil and 15 years younger than her. And that he didn't come home the previous night.
Bella calls Kenny her "charming, fallible boy", and she treats him like one. Former lovers say he's "tall, kind of blond, with a lovely lean build" and "incredibly rich brown eyes." There’s "just no resisting him,” and he's "bastardly good looking.”
Tumblr media
David in rehearsals as Kenny (from program of An Experienced Woman Gives Advice)
In a series of interruptions from people passing into the garden, Bella (Redmond) dispenses advice to the inquiring strangers Nancy and Irving (Galbraith), and learns Kenny spent the night with another woman...from the woman herself, Nancy (McCrindle), who doesn't realize who she's told. What Bella does with this information - and how her meticulously cultivated freedom of choice lifestyle shatters, especially given her first love, Stick (Morton) lives nearby - is what the rest of the play explores. We see love, lust, and lies play out as Bella makes her choices.
And there's a scene with Bella and Kenny...and sex behind the doors of a rocking, exploding garden shed!
I haven't been able to locate a production script of the play to see whether this scene was enacted onstage, but Heggie's published script book says this scene, where Bella strips Kenny of his clothes piece by piece before they go into the shed to have sex offstage, had some brief nudity. None of the play reviews I've been able to find mention any nudity, though one article about the play does state that due to "strong language and the sexual nature of the story, the play is not suitable for children under 15." (I don't know how much weight I should give this particular article, however, because it also calls the lead character "Maggie" rather than "Bella"!) Anyway, if this scene was included in the play, it would be the second known instance (the first being that now-infamous What The Butler Saw full frontal nude photograph) where DT was onstage in the buff!
Speaking of reviews, they were wildly different - some found it hilariously funny with barbed, sharp dialogue, while others found it fatiguing. David's "able portrayal" as Kenny was praised as part of an extremely talented cast, and his was called a "great performance".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David and Siobhan Redmond earned Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards (MENTA) nominations - Redmond for Best Actress, and David for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. They also earned British Regional Theatre Awards nominations; Redmond for Best Actress and David for Best Actor. The play itself was also awarded a MENTA nomination for Best New Play. Redmond won both her nominations; David and the play didn't.
Photos from the play are almost nonexistent. I haven't located any images housed in any archives anywhere...so far. That doesn't mean they're not out there, mind you, just I haven't found them yet! I did manage to find a few of horrible quality while digging around in newspaper archives (I'll refrain from venting here about the quality aspects of digitizing newspapers, as that's a rant for another day) but it's a damned shame. I mean, in one of these, David just looks like a David-shaped black hole with floating arms! Nevertheless, I'll leave them here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something else I found fascinating during my research was that, like many venues, the Royal Exchange had a tradition of scheduling at least one informal discussion with the director and members of the company for each of their productions. While I didn't find any information on whether a discussion of this sort occurred during EW's run, I have to assume it did. Ah, to be a fly on the wall for that!
And that, my friends, is pretty much the story of An Experienced Woman Gives Advice! I wish I knew much more about this play, but like many parts of David's theatre career, wide gaps in our knowledge remain. But I keep on looking.
Thanks for reading!

This blog write all right. Idk how all his project outside mcu all get one way or another does bad or it's streaming numbers or box office. Idk hod it'd happened like probability so small, like we don't know it'd his team or it's him not knowing what hd doing. Did someone reading scripts alongside him to give advice? If u think about its somehow coming it's always something bad storytellers, pace, bad challengers development or something else?now he have bad reputation in Hollywood or big ppl not take him seriously. Plus mcu actors nowadays it's like swimming against stream,u like need proof to everyone and add some, all should be ideal and only then they will let go of his neck. I'm kinda sad for Tom. But on another dude he said himself that he don't wanna be actor 😔 like if it's not u passion why u forcing it dude idk working through pressing on urself. Idk idk like I stop expect anything, I wouldn't surprise if he retire after spiderman. Tom a man of unrealized potential
Ok.
First, when did Tom say he doesn't want to be an actor? Do you think that if it were like that he would continue trying and working on it? I think he has just been unlucky, remember most of his movies were released in the Covid19 season. Chaos Walking, for example (poorly executed, definitely, but would have done well at the box office if not for...zero promotion and covid).
Tom was very young when he started taking on a lot of unscripted projects. and I read somewhere that he wasn't sure about playing Cherry but the Russos convinced him (they bribed him lol, I'd say ) and since he feels he owes them part of his career, he said yes... The Russos have a name there out and (Advenger is a success to this day although it hurts those who hate the MCU) but it turns out that the direction of these men was bad in cherry. Now his performance, his acting skills (if you read the reviews) has always been praised... even today. (there is an agenda against him for being part of Marvel duh)
The common people love him, praise him... and even on Twitter they always defend him with..."the broh needs a better agent" "he always chooses bad projects" etc... they know he's a good actor. Those who say it's a flop...who are they? some Z fans who hate him bcuz he dates her and are jealous. Fans of other actors who for some reason feel threatened by Tom.... (and why do you think that is?😌) some idiots who think they're cinephiles and believe that hating everything that has to do with marvel makes them intellectual...🤪 ? LMAO.
You say marvel flop too? huh that will never be the case with Spider-Man, don't worry...Tom is not just any Marvel actor...he plays the most beloved character of all superheroes and the most famous. And people love it... 🤭
To this day his most watched movie outside of the MCU is TDATT, and most people always praise Tom's performance. And it's the most viewed bcuz it's from Netflix. If TCR .....
None of my friends have Apple TV and even I had to pay for 2 months of that horrible app just for him.. when I recommend the series... no one has Apple TV... I hate apple tv...Anyway.
I give you some advice, if you have such a poor perception of him, I think there are more actors out there for you to follow.
Tom is 27 years old...not 40. There are actors who were recognized just last year with 5 years older than Tom...and I am not going to mention names...🤐🤓

Last month, "The Motive and the Cue" moved to the West End (originally staged at the National Theatre), symbolically finding a home at the Noël Coward Theatre, where John Gielgud played Hamlet back in 1934.
After less than two weeks of our read-along of "Emails from an Actor," I was so excited to see this play that I could hardly breathe when I saw "Day 1, The Play’s the Thing" projected on the black curtain! Honestly, this has been the best play I’ve seen in the last four or five months (and I go to the West End almost every week). The entire production revolves around the captivating power struggle between the legendary John Gielgud and the flamboyant Richard Burton, with Elizabeth Taylor acting as a calming force. Act one, aptly titled "The Motive," explodes with conflict, culminating in a public humiliation of Gielgud by Burton, and the second act, “The Cue,” focuses on the peace process and completes with reconciliation and a successful premiere. It’s rare to find an end of the play stronger and more cathartic than an end of the first act, but this play achieves it beautifully.
Johnny Flynn breathes life into Burton, portraying him as charismatic, expressive, and loud, yet hinting at hidden demons. However, I felt that he was trying too hard to mimic Burton's voice and mannerisms. Flynn's natural voice doesn't have the same level of hoarseness, so much of his performance feels more like an impersonation.
Tuppence Middleton steals the show as Taylor. Her captivating presence shines in every scene, offering a nuanced portrayal that deconstructs the stereotypical image of the airheaded Hollywood beauty. The connection she forms with Luke Norris' William Redfield, based on their shared childhood experiences as actors, is a delightful highlight. Redfield is arguably the most prominent supporting character, and his presence is impactful. But, unfortunately, there was no Sterne.
The real star and the absolute best part of it all was Mark Gatiss as John Gielgud. He is so natural in this role: knowledgeable, gentle, charismatic, witty, and extremely vulnerable. (By the end, you yearn to offer him a comforting hug.) This is exactly how I imagined Gielgud from what I’ve read so far in Redfield’s and Sterne’s texts. During the first rehearsals, Mark Gatiss even did something mentioned by Sterne: “he was also acting all the parts with the actors, mouthing the lines, reflecting the emotions in his facial expressions, and kinesthetically making all the gestures.” It was so lovely! And he did many things described by Redfield as part of Gielgud's ‘directing style.’ It was amusing to recognize quotes from both Redfield and Sterne throughout the whole play, even if repurposed for different situations.
The staging was both beautiful and smart. They used three locations: the big white rehearsal room, the smaller red hotel room (of Burton and Taylor), and the smallest blue room (of Gielgud). This last room was the most intimate space, where Redfield came for acting advice (and Gielgud told him that his advice cannot make him a better actor) and where Gielgud himself brought a sex worker boy ('I just wanted to do something reckless') – this is the most touching scene! I also liked the production’s attention to details: for example, when Taylor and Burton host a party in their room, we see vases with flowers – roses and tulips, and when we return to their room a few days later, we see these same flowers withered!
I really enjoyed the play. It was a captivating blend of wit, intelligence, and genuine tenderness. And it was nice to see our guys 'alive.' Gatiss/Gielgud is my big love! The whole experience made me very emotional.

Lucien Flores x f!reader ft Dieter Bravo
Part of the Exposed Masterlist
Set in the Wardrobe Universe
WC:3.3k
Warnings: Smut. Vaginal fingering. Cum eating. Anxiety.
Summary: Lucien gets some great advice from an unlikely source.
The Big Oh
"Hey, man! Come in, just close the gate behind you. We have a rogue goat with an attitude problem. She likes to eat the neighbours grass. It's always greener, right?" Dieter was even more hyper verbal than usual.
Truth be told, he was a little bit nervous. His wife had been encouraging him to make new friends. Dieter had no trouble making friends wherever he went. The articles written after the jobs he had were always filled with stories from his co-stars about how personable and professional he was. A long cry from the stories that they used to be filled with. His co-workers had genuine affection for him, but they were often from the other side of the country or even the world. When he wasn't working the last few years, which wasn't much, especially after that second Oscar, he was with family. His wife thought it would be nice if he had someone that he could just call to hang out with. Lucien had sprung to mind immediately when she had mentioned it over breakfast one morning. Every conversation Dieter had had with him had been enjoyable. They shared the same passion for art, for their work. Lucien had a great sense of humour. It was more subtle than Dieter's. He had a sharp wit and didn't miss a thing. That's probably why people resonated with his cartoon. He saw life as it was at its roots. The commonalities we all face. Whether we're a successful Hollywood actor or an aspiring artist.
"Can I get you a drink? Some hot? Cold? I don't drink any more but we have alcohol somewhere." Lucien looked at the clock on the wall that read 11.07. "I don't drink either, water would be good. Thanks."
Dieter disappeared out of one of the living room doors. His place was smaller than Lucien expected but it was still huge. The living room was sparsely decorated. There were two bookcases on either side of a very modern looking fireplace. Three sofas bordered a coffee table creating a little seating area. There were a couple of dressers against two walls and the third was a huge set of bifolding doors. One of them was open, allowing Lucien to hear the bleating of the goats that Dieter had mentioned. Lucien pondered the lack of personal touches as Dieter returned. He carried a tray with two bottles of water, two glasses and a bucket of ice. He set it down on the coffee table "Need anything else? Are you hungry?"
Lucien smiled up at him, where he stood looking ready to sprint off at a moment's notice to fulfil any requests. "I'm good, thank you."
Dieter visibly relaxed. "Sorry, I'm acting weird, right? I just got all up in my head about this." Sitting down he shook his head. "I haven't made a friend, independently of my wife, since I've been sober. I've forgotten how raw everything feels when you're not high. I have this massive need to impress you."
"I feel like I'm the one that needs to impress. You're successful in your career. I'm just a guy that couldn't do what he wanted and fell into another career."
"That you are successful at and adored by so many fans for. Don't sell yourself short! And for the record, acting wasn't my first career choice. I got into it as a therapy of sorts. I worked through my angst by playing characters that got to let their's out. I wanted to be an artist too."
"I heard that you paint."
"I try to when I get a minute. Do you want to see my studio?"
"Sure." Lucien tried not to sound too over eager. Seeing a new artist's work for the first time was always a rush for him.
Dieter led Lucien down a path, passed some goats. Some tiny pigs. Two Alpacas, that Lucien side stepped to avoid. Before coming to a small building set back in the trees. Dieter opened the door and gestured for Lucien to go first. Lucien had wondered where all the personality was in their home. He had found it. Each wall had multiple paintings hung on them. There were so many different art styles. The painting ranged from vivid and bold colourful pieces to more muted still life's. One large piece was still on the canvas, it was clearly a work in progress. The partial outline was distinctly feminine, she appeared to be naked and straddling something. The whole painting consisted of multiple vertical lines. Her outline was created by contrasting colours continuing that line. Each perpendicular colour was chosen to blur into each other. It was a vibrant piece.
"Do you like it?" Dieter asked almost shyly.
Lucien realised he'd been staring. "It's beautiful. You have a way with colour."
"Thank you. I can't take all the credit. I have a beautiful muse. That's my wife. All of the nude ones are. She let's me capture our more intimate moments as long as they aren't too explicit." As Dieter spoke Lucien looked around, his eyes lingered on an abstract piece that he reminded him of something he couldn't quite place. It was only as Dieter revealed the nature of his paintings that it became clear to Lucien that it was clearly a woman's face as she gave a blow job.
"Oh." Was all Lucien could think to say.
"Sorry. Was that an overshare?" Dieter winced.
"No, you're good. I like art with truth in it."
"Good." Dieter sighed. "So what are you painting?"
"Honestly? My love life going down in literal flames. It might be a little on the nose but it was cathartic." Lucien gave a little half laugh.
Dieter stepped forward a little. "Do you want to talk about it? The love life bit I mean?"
Lucien opened his mouth then hesitated to speak. When he took a breath instead Dieter offered him something else instead. "Hey, do you want to work on something now?"
Dieter fetched a fresh canvas and set it up next to his. "Here." He gestured to the paints and tools on his trolley now in between the two canvases. A small paint splattered radio was on top. Dieter switched it on low. Classic music flowed from it.
"Alright." Lucien smiled as he got to work. He let it all out his frustrations at himself. His worries, he poured it onto the canvas for a good half an hour. Even though it felt like minutes. When it really started to take shape Dieter couldn't help but make a comment. "That bad, huh?"
Lucien calmed the heavy breaths he didn't realise he had been taking. "Maybe. No, not really. My head just runs away with itself. Things were going really well and I put too much pressure on it and myself then I couldn't…" Lucien stopped himself from over sharing but Dieter just stood there patiently. Since they were standing in a room filled with paintings of his wife in various sex acts Lucien figured it wouldn't be all that shocking an admission, besides he needed some advice. "...I couldn't perform."
"Ah, so that's the reason behind Claude suddenly feeling more emotional and less horny."
"Pretty much. I saw a future beyond just sex with her and now I can't give her either. Sorry. I don't know why I'm telling you all this."
"Because I wanted you to. That's what friends are for, right? I knew something was weighing on you. Guys don't usually look that forlorn staring at my naked wife. So when you couldn't…what happened next?"
"She left. She was understanding and told me to rest. She's texted me a few times and I don't know how to respond. I've known this woman a week and I feel more for her than I have for any woman I have my entire adult life. That's crazy, right?"
"No, that's love. Or the beginnings of it. We fall in love over time because we get to know each other more. We find things in common. Quirks to love. All things we can detail but there's always that one part that we can't put our finger on. That part that makes love bigger than the sum of its parts. The thing that makes each love unique. The thing that makes you take risks for it. I think that's always there. Even in the beginning."
"Wow." Lucien breathed. "Maybe you should write the next episode. I've never thought about love like that."
"Neither did I. Then I had an incredible teacher." He looked to his canvas and smiled softly.
"I was scared to chase her off but telling her all this but I guess if it does scare her off, it wasn't meant to be. Better to be honest now than live a happy lie."
"Claude really needs that line. And you need to call her."
"You're right. Thanks, man."
"No problem. If it works out you can invite her over. We have a sex room that you can use."
Lucien's jaw went slack as he blinked at the other man.
"Now, that might have been an over share." Dieter made his way to the door. "The offer still stands though. It had a sex swing. I'll give you some privacy." As the door closed Lucien pulled out his phone. You answered on the fourth ring. "Hello?"
"Hey. Have..have you got time to talk?"
"Sure. I'd like to talk to you since you haven't answered any of my messages."
"I'm sorry. I just didn't know what to say."
"I'm sorry. I get that things can be overwhelming when you are anxious. I was just scared. I like you and I didn't know if this was over or…"
"Do you want it to be over?"
"No! No, I just thought you might be trying to peter things out."
"Shit. I'm sorry. No. I don't want to peter things out. I know it sounds crazy but I feel like there's something special here. I want to explore it."
"It's not crazy. Or it is and we're just both crazy. I want to see where things go too. Dinner tonight? My place?"
"Yeah. I'd like that."
"I'll text you the address. I'll see you around 6.30?"
"I'll see you then. Bye."
"Bye."
He could hear the smile in your voice as you hung up.
A knock at the door sounded. "Yeah?" Lucien called.
Dieter slipped through the door carrying a white paper bag. "How did the call go?"
"Good. We're having dinner at her place tonight." Lucien could barely contain his grin.
"That's great! I made a start on lunch if you're hungry and I grabbed you a bag we give out at our sex parties. We keep those quiet nowadays. Hence the inconspicuous bag. There's a little something in there to help you along if you need it."
It was an odd gift to receive but Lucien was genuinely touched. "Thank you."
"Just be careful with the timing of those things. I took one by accident once, right before a big sex scene or so I thought..." Dieter trailed off into his memory "...actually that turned out pretty well."
Lucien raised his eyebrows in question. "It was the first time I felt like my wife really cared about me. I mean she was always caring but she was like that with everyone. This time she helped me get off so I didn't ruin my big scene. Afterwards she let me hold her. We even had a little nap together. She was so fricken cute in my arms, sleeping peacefully. I just watched her for like an hour. I should have known then that we had something special. Three years in and it still feels special."
Lunch with Dieter was great. He was a good cook. He made steak and served it with salad. He made mocktails and served apple pie that his wife had baked. The conversation was easy. A little break from his thoughts was what Lucien needed.
When he arrived at your place he felt more positive about everything, like he could keep his thoughts in check. That seemed a little less certain when you opened the door in a little sundress. The thin straps and cut of the top showed you weren't wearing a bra. The hem skimmed your mid-thigh. It should be enough to half him squirming in his tightening jeans. Yet he wasn't. One thing at a time he told himself. Firstly, he had to apologise. Then you could have a nice date. It didn't have to be about sex.
"Is this too much? I wanted to look nice. Now I'm seeing that this looks like I'm dressed for easy access. I'm not expecting anything, there's no pressure." You suddenly became self conscious. Generally you were confident but surely everyone gets nervous when they really want something.
Lucien's hand came to cup your cheek. "You look beautiful. I know there's no pressure but I would like to pick up where we left off. Bedroom?"
Lucien saw your breathing pick up, before you led him upstairs. Once you had reached the second floor, his hands and lips were on you like they had been the first time. It was all a passionate blur as you stumbled to your bedroom. The soft mattress was at your back. Strong hands delicately remove your panties before gripping your knees placed over even stronger shoulders. Your cunt leaked as a warm tongue ran up it. Your clit pulsed at the friction of it. Lights danced behind your eyes, clearing to reveal Lucien's beautiful face hovering over yours. His chin glistening with your release. The taste on it was soon on your tongue. Lucien lay between your legs as if he was preparing to enter you. One hand kept his body up off yours. Your body prepared to take him, arousal coated your warm channel. A tingle of expectation ran through you at the thought of his cock slowly pushing inside of you. To your surprise, it wasn't his cock that slowly opened you up. It was his fingers. Two thick fingers filled you as his thumb pressed your clit. He pressed open mouthed kisses to your shoulders as he began to thrust. He rocked his whole body behind his hand, driving his fingers deep. You'd never had sex like it before. He was still close and intimate, his body moving on top of yours. His lips hovered over yours in between kisses, savouring every gasped breath across them. He was still penetrativing you deliciously deep, still making love to you, just not with his penis. Considering how liberal minded you were it struck you as odd that you'd never thought of this as sex. Whatever it was classed as, it was doing it for you.
"Lucien. I'm gonna…" the rest was lost to a moan of his name.
His fingers gently worked you through your orgasm until you were completely wrung out beneath him. He lay on top of you dotting kisses over your warm skin. In your blissed out state it took a moment for you to recognise just how much of Lucien was pressed against you.
"Oh, you're…do you want…? I mean I could take care of you." A shyness unbecoming of a woman who just had three of a man fingers pumping in and out of her cunt came over you.
"I'm good. I'm just glad I can get it up." Lucien huffed a laugh while he readjusted himself. "I'm worried I'll lose it if we put too much pressure on things."
"I understand. No pressure." You had  worked your way into his lap. "Thank you. That was…incredible." You sighed happily before kissing him. As the kiss got more heated you couldn't help rock your hips against him a little until…"Oh, shit." Lucien groaned, trembling between your thighs. "Fuck, I'm sorry."
"What? Oh. Oh!"
"Great. I went from not excited enough to getting way too fucking excited."
"Yeah but it's really fucking hot."
"Really?"
"Really. Can I see?"
Lucien remembered your photo request as he stood undoing his jeans. A smirk bloomed inward at your apparent kink lining up with his. As soon as he pulled down his jeans and the dark spot on his grey boxer briefs was exposed, your face lit up. "Can I clean you up?"
There was no way he could refuse an offer like that. Your tongue lapped at his cum until he was clean and beginning to grow hard again. At that point he decided to quit while he was ahead and asked you to stop. You happily complied, swiping up the drops of him that had mixed with your saliva and escaped your mouth before pushing them back past your lips.
"Now that's the kind of energy I'd love for my art. I knew you were the perfect choice." The satisfied grin on his face made your heart flutter.
"Stop!" You couldn't help the nervous laugh that bubbled up. He was gorgeous, smart, funny and totally into you. That combined with the hormone still running through your system was enough to make you swoon like a lovesick teenager.
"I'm going to order some pizza and get a shower. You are welcome to join me. I have some clothes that will fit you if you want to stay over?" It may have been a little presumption but you didn't want him to leave.
"I actually have an overnight bag in my car."
"Hmm? For spontaneous overnight visits?" You quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Yeah. Well, ones to the hospital."
The lightness in your heart collapsd "Oh?"
"I have a couple of conditions. They're mainly kept in check. Since Covid I've kept a bag on hand in case the worst happened. It's not a big deal. I just like to be organised."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know. Is there anything I need to do? I don't test regularly any more or…" Concern had you on your feet and standing in front of him. Searching his face as if you were able to diagnose him with just a look.
"You're good." He wrapped you in his arms. "In the early days they didn't know how Covid would affect me so as a precaution they made me stay home for longer than everyone else. I couldn't go out in public for months. As they found out more about it they relaxed the rules. I could go out but masked up. Eventually, they said if I got my vaccines I would be fine. I did end up getting covid but I was fine."
"Wow. That must have been rough."
"It wasn't too bad and now it means I get to stay over without doing the walk of shame."
"Well that makes it all worth it I guess."
"Uh-huh." He replied, rubbing that perfectly carved nose over yours.
The two of you stood in each other's embrace for a long while. Crazy teenager crush aside, it was nice just to be held again. Affectionate moments were few and far between nearing the end of your last relationship. When the two of you decided to part it's with one last kiss.
With pizza order, you waited to see if Lucien wanted to take you up on that shower offer.
"I forgot, Dieter gave me this." He placed a small white bag on the counter next to his overnight bag.
"Advice, lunch, presents. He's a keeper. What is it?"
"It said it had stuff in it to help things along in the bedroom."
"Can I look?" Lucien nodded. "Oh, wow. Vibrating cock ring. Lube. Orgasm enhancer cream. Tingle massage oil. Nipple clamps. Viagra…"
"Yeah. He mentioned that. I didn't have the heart to tell him I can't take viagra. On top of the blood condition, I have a very slight heart condition." Shock and concern crossed your face. "It's not a problem but I stay away from anything that could potentially mess with my heart."
"Is there anything else you want to casually drop on me?"
"I'm not exactly a struggling artist. Technically I'm a millionaire."
"Oh!"

Celebratory Sim Dump!! (the sequel)
I am very very late to do this, but, I'm releasing a sim dump to celebrate 100 followers!! 😄
That's so cool!! Thank you so much everyone who follows, likes, comments, or even interacts at all with my posts!! It means so much to me, really, and I'm so grateful for every interaction, big or small 😁😁
But enough of the cheesy thank yous, onward to the sims!!
Here are eight cc free sims, all Young Adults, for download!! All have two skills set to level three as well as set careers (also at level three). Do as you'd like with them, but I did write out little blurbs for them as a starter 😉😉
~ download (google drive) ~
[sim info below cut]
A little about the sims...
Mara McCoy (she/her) - Friend of the Animals, Cat Lover, Loner, Jealous - Mara ran away from home as a teen and never looked back (was actually a sim I used for a runaway teen challenge that I didn't finish 😅). She prefers plants and cats to people but can occasionally be persuaded to socialize.
Delany Milton (she/her) - Academic Success, Ambitious, Perfectionist, Bookworm - Delany has an intense love of both teaching and learning. She never got the chance to go to college to become a full fledged teacher or professor, but she hopes that one day she'll finally be able to achieve her goals and move beyond her assistant teaching position, or (since it's the sims) work her way up through the ranks.
Jonas Mosher (he/him) - Master Actor, Cheerful, Childish, Glutton - You might recognize him from the teen a day challenge, but now he's a young adult and striving to be an acting superstar! He's still best friends with Courtney.
Courtney Cason (she/her) - Joke Star, Goofball, Unflirty, Erratic - Also from the teen a day challenge! She's on her way to becoming a famous comedian, having started gigs in comedy clubs when she was still a teenager. She's still best friends with Jonas.
Jennifer Nora (they/them) - Archaeology Scholar, Clumsy, Family Oriented, Loves the Outdoors - Jennifer loves archaeology and has dreams of publishing their findings and uncovering ancient artifacts that will cement them in scientific history! They're very close with family and friends (especially their cousin, Blake, who's like a brother to them).
Kellan Stanford (he/him) - Neighborhood Confidant, Gloomy, Outgoing, Lactose Intolerant - Kellan is a very social character. He's always hanging around others, even strangers. There aren't many that can tell you exactly how they met him.. He just sort of appears and is seamlessly integrated into social circles. He's a good sim to know, though, as he's great at giving advice, earning himself the title of neighborhood confidant.
Ernest Porter (he/him) - Master Chef, Good, Foodie, Squeamish - Ernest has big dreams of master chef stardom. However his squeamish and very picky nature tends to lead him more towards baking rather than cooking. One day he hopes to open his own restaurant/bakery combo.
Grant Meade (they/them) - Friend of the World, Loyal, Paranoid, Freegan - A chaotic entity, Grant spends most of their time chilling in whoever's basement they're currently crashing in while crafting conspiracy theories about how the sim world is going to end. Despite their eccentrics, they're a good friend, and will always be the first on the scene should any of their companions need help.

DMD FTR: finale thoughts
i forgot to put this out because i've been in the process of being an employed adult human person these days, unfortunately (no one who saw my previous DMD FTR posts is surprised that i was unemployed). now i wont even get to have my weekly crisply shot and edited hang outs w Gen 3 besties while this new job is sucking my soul... but this was a pleasant finale to this sweet and chill and incredibly unsurprising show!
here's the thing: i dont even know who Domundi is trying to fool w this double win stuff cause they did literally announce the new gen would be acting in TWO (2) new series during their 2023 Line Up event???????
Tumblr media
so the double win wasn't a surprise AT ALL but it's okay, it didnt really diminish my enjoyment out of the show at all. i wanted both couples to have series anyway!
as i've said in my first post about this show, it has been very obvious that this shows' intention isn't to be a competition, it's more of a new gen "inauguration". they could've just put the boys through bunch of workshops and let them choose partners off camera too but they chose to put money and time in to make it a whole show, so people could witness their journey and premature fan clubs would form and develop. i think its fun and clever marketing but did it work???
well, the boys def have more fans now BUT on the same day this episode was premiering, some ZNN fans were crying about their faves (who just had a movie come out, also filming a show rn AND scheduled to film another one after) being slighted by the company and they didn't need to "add more". like i said, i don't really follow Domundi closely, if the fans are right about artist management i might not know... but their Gen 2 was extremely successful after all and people are BEGGING for more series, so it's not a bad move for a company to want to grow. i wish fans would be more mature and learn more the industry the person they "stan" works in! why would a growing company would just make shows w 2 actors over and over man, cmon 😭
okay now that i got that out of me, back to the finale. some notes about the general:
the group performance of the theme song was a bit cringe to me bc i just hate that kind of music. but everyone's ending fairies were really cuteeeee so i forgive them
real winners of the episode is the background dancers because they literally did all the performances and acted too, very well!!
Domundi members and variety of industry people in the audience was sweet to see and added valuable comments/advice for the boys. i was especially happy to see Jimmy and Tommy, whom i ADORE!!!!
i was laughing at that LOUD ASS clapping and hollering track they kept playing to add some more noise to the audience's. like i know why they did it but how much that big sound didn't match w that small crowd just tickled me..
well, yeah, i cant get into idol-ing stuff personally so i was kind of bored during the solo performances. i dont really have comments that hasn't already been said by the judges. i thought all the boys did what they were supposed to do and showcased their talents, EXCEPT Latte........ my dude, what happened? i think he could've lip sync to the song, which IS a skill (Rupaul's Drag Race battles and just drag performances in general as evidence...) that would add a lot to his performance.
Firstone leaving the competition w Best Friendship & Best Performance Awards in his pocket and two guys wanting to be his partner. What a little star... Deserved and love his cocky attitude.
about couple jukebox musicals:
in my last episode commentary, i joked about Mandee getting inspired from my ideas but then they actually kinda happened lol🧐🧐🧐🧐 ThomasKong's performance was a coming of age, young love story while KengNamping's story was more complex romance w an angsty core, almost exactly like i wished for.
all in all, KengNamping's performance grabbed my attention the most. mostly because their acting & chemistry seemed improved to me (that kiss fake out at the end, what the hell??? you guys couldn't hold an eye contact couple eps ago...) AND their storyline just ATEEEE. i dont know who came up w the forbidden romance between kinda out of touch but well meaning rich boy & his "i suffer through love quietly" village boy bodyguard, w humour sprinkled in, but they need to get their ass eaten regularly...
Tumblr media
ThomasKong don't even need to try that hard, they are just natural born charmers!!!! i liked their friends to lovers, nerdy guy cant believe popular one' love bc he doesnt see his value storyline (Thomas could've busted out One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful"). With the romantic prom climax, it reminded me of American high school movies and fit their vibes perfectly. i wish it was more humorous, because i think comedy is one of their strong suits. like how did it ended up that shy kings KengNamping got more laughs than ThomasKong, the goofballs themselves??? whoever is writing their series, please take notes, now that i know you are reading these...
after the glorious double win and the cute four-way hug, Aof said that two shows would be announced this year which clearly meant that most we are getting this year are pilot trailers. which is fine. not easy to be patient but i get that they are a smaller company w lots on their plates already. i hope they will use that time to work and work and work on the shows!!!!
i honestly want Domundi to kind of change up things in their filmmaking/producing styles, maybe switch directors sometimes and try diffferent styles idk... this show and Gen 3 in general felt very refreshing and i hope they keep that vibe going! and maybe i will finally watch a Domundi show till the last episode.
Tumblr media
P.S.: Extra clips were released this week and KengNamping's was sweet. i was kinda laughing at how much of a set up it was like, them conveniently sharing a blanket, all mic'd up, getting filmed w lights on etc. but their conversation and mood in the moment seemed sincere, which is enough. it was nice to see the context for ep 5, when they found each other at the other end of the red ribbon and said that so much happened on that bridge. what a perfect circle moment, from comforting each other about not winning a challenge to winning the show!

As a black girl it's indescribable to explain the constant pain of seeing all this racism online, it's like a stab in the heart every time and it hurts just as much to always have to read things like "ignore, if you see hate it's because you choose to interact with hate, It's up to you"
no, unfortunately it doesn't depend on me and it doesn't depend on any of us poc, because it is everywhere and constant and racism is not just the insult with the slur but it is in the way they talk about us, in the way they choose to mock us for everything, in the way that we are never considered on the same level as other people and we cannot ignore it. It's painful and exhausting.
I hug you and wish you a good day.
That's why i tagged the post you're talking about with my reblog.
Tumblr media
As shown in the tags, I wasn’t denying what you said. Racism and fandom hate are two very different things even if it sometimes overlaps.
A large part of the hate and/or drama that happens in the RWRB are just patterns that happen in every fandom, even the very white ones. Putting the two leads up against each other, comparing them, comparing acting skills, careers, saying one is sold to hollywood and/or the other is talentless, saying fans aren’t supportive enough of this or that, that fans should move on from this or that, hate and bullying happens in every. fandom. ever.
And many times, the hate and/or drama is amplified by people trying to fight it. How many times did you scroll your timeline seeing people complaining about hateful messages but seeing none of the actual hate message unless you really look deep for it?
The idea is not to compare that to racism but to say that that unlike racism, this could be ignored. You don’t go on in life stopping people in the street asking for their opinions about your favorite actor or movie or book and insult them if they disagree and no one is doing that to you either. So I think that what the original post was about. The Internet expose us to too many opinions we shouldn’t have to deal with on a daily basis. The best answer to that specifically is to ignore.
As for hate messages rooted in either racism, queerphobia or misogyny or something equally revolting, I still think there are specific situations when the best way to fight is to ignore.
Let’s say I receive a queerphobic message in my inbox.
What could feel right is to answer "fuck you, stop being queerphobic". But even if I’m calling out a queerphobic behavior I’m still amplifying that message by sharing it. I would expose 1,700+ (or more (or less if you count the bots)) people to a queerphobic message while trying to fight against it. I probably wouldn’t have changed the mind of the person writing this in the first place but I made several (maybe hundreds) people feel insulted.
If I ignore the message and put it in the trash where it belongs, I made a total of 0 person feeling insulted. The queerphobia hasn’t been amplified, the message doesn’t exist anymore. That what the original post was about in my opinion. Sometimes, the choice is up to us however we deal with it.
Instead, I’m sharing other messages. Yours. The stories of many actors and actresses of color starting their own producing companies because Hollywood doesn’t give them the same opportunities. Matthew’s voice talking about the rating of queer movies. Taylor’s accomplishments. Casey’s successes. Whoever.
On Twitter, it’s different. More difficult. We know algorithms. If 100 people answer to (or QRT) a racist post saying it’s racist and stupid, the algorithm doesn’t think it’s stupid, it thinks it’s relevant because 100 people interacted with it. If moderation and report and ban were efficient, it would be easier but Elon thinks it’s fun and social medias want more interactions not less so they’re built that way. So saying we should leave this hell hole isn’t actually a bad advice.
Long story short, it’s complicated. Ignoring things is not saying it doesn’t matter or that it’s unimportant. My personal belief is that we achieve more with pushing voices we want to make powerful and heard than by trying to convince people online we actually don’t know and we might never interact again with.
But ultimately it isn’t an easy topic and it’s unfair for too many people.

Not to psychoanalyze Pond from across an ocean..but am going to.
I think the biggest issue is that while Mile and Apo have taken their meteoric rise in game with grace and humility...that hasn't been the same for Pond. KP is a massive success in part due to Pond's work on the project and while he has seen a massive pay raise he hasn't received the level of adoration and opportunities that Mile and Apo but he thinks he is due. Especially in the entertainment and fashion industry which he was never entrench in as much as he is now they talk everyone up and I think Mile and Apo have enough experience to not believe all of it but he has started to believe his own hype (a young successful CEO who isn't considered conventionally unattractive).
Why would he as a CEO think he is due the same sort of success as his artists? I think this also touch on the weird relationship between Mile and Pond where since they were friends before beginning a professional partnership views Mile and himself as more friends and being on the same level/boat, while he views Apo as his artist. From the outside this looks really weird because sometimes he says stuff and does things that seem rude or disrespectful to Mile for how a CEO should behave with their artist (I also think they was a period he really was a jealous toward Mile for his popularity last year which to him seems unfair because they BOTH started the BOC project together and BOTH put in money and BOTH did the work for marketing and sponsorship deals) but to him Mile got a much greater share of the fame/success than him (tbf he seems to have gotten over this a bit now). He views Mile as part of BOC/friend
While Apo he considers to be an artist under BOC which is why you will hear him talk alot more about Apo's acting in comparison to Mile and(probably unconsciously) promoto's Apo just a smidgen bit more on his IG and talks about making Apo a more well rounded person.
From what we little we've seen of the actual industry events I think Mile, Apo and Pond work as a good team to balance each other out. Mile tends to lean a bit too heavily on the business side while Apo is the talent/specialist and I think Pond is that everyman personable figure in that room who's presence really makes Mile and Apo comfortable enough to make their personalities shine and not to take every meeting and event too seriously. (I think Mile and Apo both realize now that when left on their own they can both get too serious around each other and need to also work to be the balance for each other to keep things fun and light)
I do think his talents lie more behind the camera than in front of it and wish he would let someone else take the reign for the actual company management.
Congratulations if you have made it this far! I did not mean to unload a whole essay on you and this was mostly just me sharing my thoughts with you. This got away from me for a bit and you don't need to post this monstrous essay.
I have a lot of cristism about Pond (like the whole B situation) but I also think there is a massive blind spot for him both in the fandom and in the company for his actions because he is both CEO and friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
haha wow... we got some big Pond fans in the house! *is chased off stage with a broom*
🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🧹
but imma keep my word, so here we go.
I don't give free advice to men who don't listen anyway, but I appreciate you caring, anon. 🫶
but probably what this anon said ⬇️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he used to go to BBB events as the second anon in the series said, but not after January I believe for Bible's solo events.
He also posted mileapo photos from their Seoul trip this year (hashtag gay cowboys) but since mileapo were both in the photos and Pond wasn't in Seoul someone (probably Gift) also had to have taken them and sent them to him. The whole strategy here is... bizarre. messy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
actors are not responsible for the funding and development, but they are responsible for getting themselves into projects. someone mentioned Perth not exclusively being signed (he's done some projects in Japan this year) and I'm wondering if BOC has implemented an exclusivity/noncompete contract like some other production companies have. For example, Channel 3 has these exclusivity contracts for their actors which is why Apo was so excited to be promoting on different channels for Man Suang.
if that is the baseline assumption, Pond should be making it clear to his talent cause the way he has been framing it is that he would be taking care of them like family. even aside from the ick factor for a lot of people, including me about work = family, he even if he is sincere about that, where is he carving out time to do that when he's following MA around to their events?
Tumblr media
im glad we have so many handsome photos of Mile that the loss of one is not the worst heartbreak we can face 😔

On 9th April 1747 Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, the leading Scottish Jacobite rebel was beheaded on Tower Green.
A longer post than normal from me as in my opinion Simon Fraser was one of the most interesting characters in Jacobite history. A man of contrary, he was known to be very kind to the lesser clansmen taking a paternal interest in their affairs. A quote regarding him says that….“Generally he had a bag of farthings for when he walked abroad the contents of which he distributed among any beggars whom he met. He would stop a man on the road; inquire how many children he had; offer him sound advice; and promise to redress his grievances if he had any”
In his own estimate, he took care his clansmen were ‘always well-clothed and well-armed, after the Highland fashion, and not to suffer them to wear low-country clothes’ Lovat was also a brute of a man forcing a young woman into marriage and raping her in an attempt to legitimise the union. Lovat has become more well know lately thanks to Outlander, where in their world he is grandfather to the main protagonist Jamie Fraser and played brilliantly by the fine Scottish actor Clive Russell. Back in the real world he has been in the news in the recent past, I shall cover that at the end of this post.
Born in 1667 into the ancient clan who fought with distinction in the Wars of Independence – Sir Simon Fraser was one of the co-victors of the Battle of Roslin and his sons were close friends of Robert the Bruce, Alexander marrying Bruce’s sister Mary – Simon was the second son of Thomas Fraser of Beaufort who was closely related to Lord Hugh Fraser of Lovat, chief of clan Fraser.
Simon became his father’s heir when his elder brother was killed fighting alongside Bonnie Dundee against the forces of King William III at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689. He was still nowhere near being clan chief, however, and took himself off to Aberdeen University from which he graduated in 1695. Lord Hugh Fraser, the 9th Lord Lovat, was a weak man who unexpectedly signed over the clan leadership to Simon’s father in 1696.
Lord John Murray, Earl of Tullibardine and the most powerful man in Scotland, disputed the succession and fell out spectacularly with Simon in Edinburgh. The young Fraser hothead duly went north to Castle Dounie to try and persuade Hugh’s widow Amelia to give him the hand of her daughter, also Amelia, in a dynastic marriage that would seal his succession. Tullibardine was having none of it and moved his niece to the Murray stronghold, Blair Castle, where he planned to marry her off to Alexander Fraser, heir to the Lordship of Saltoun.
Simon retaliated by kidnapping Alexander and frightening him away, and to make matters worse in October, 1697, he went back to Castle Dounie and forced the widow Amelia into a sham wedding, raping her to consummate the “marriage”.
Tullibardine ensured Simon and his father were declared outlaws and when old Thomas died in 1699, Simon was unable to legally claim his title as 11th Lord Lovat which later passed to one Alexander Mackenzie who had legally married the younger Amelia.
Simon Fraser somehow managed to persuade King William that he was no threat, despite having his own personal army, and he was pardoned in 1700, only to be declared an outlaw again the following year over the forced marriage and rape.
Simon went off to the court of the Stuarts in France where he devised the plans that were eventually used in the 1715 and 1745 uprisings. Long before the former, however, Simon was double dealing, giving Queen Anne information about the plans of James, the Old Pretender. He was found out and King Louis XIV clapped him in jail for three years.
Even after he was released he was prevented from travelling to Scotland and thus missed the Act of Union which he opposed.
Still desperate to get his Lovat title and the chieftainship of his clan back, Simon sided with the forces of the new King, George I, during the ’15, and was given back his title as a reward, with Alexander Mackenzie imprisoned for being a Jacobite. The two men would fight in the courts for the next 15 years as to who was entitled to the income of the estate. Simon eventually won and spent his time building up the Fraser estates and wealth, even taking command of one of the Independent Companies of Highland soldiers established by the Hanoverian regime – the Fraser Highlanders.
As I said early Fraser was a man of contrary and to me was very like “Bobbing John” The Earl of Mar another Jacobite who a tendency to shift back and forth from faction to faction, no sooner had Fraser built up this “Hanoverian” army that he started openly campaigning for the restoration of the Stuarts. The Government responded by cancelling his military role.
When Bonnie Prince Charles landed in Scotland he was still playing games.
He allowed his sons to fight for the Stuarts, but stayed at home himself “loudly lamenting the wilful disobedience of children,” as Sarah Fraser has put it. Lovat did meet Charles, however, and expressed his anger at the lack of “siller” which he knew would be necessary for a successful campaign. They met again after Culloden, at which Clan Fraser fought bravely and suffered many casualties, and Lovat advised the prince to get away and re-form his forces. Charles fled through the heather, as we know, and made it to France while anyone associated with the Bonnie Prince was hunted down. The Duke of Cumberland’s troops were not taking any more games from Fraser and burned Castle Dounie.
Lovat managed to make it to Loch Morar but was captured there while hiding in a hollow tree. Although approaching his 80th birthday, The Fox was taken south to London.
He pled not guilty but his trial was a formality and he must have know his fate would be the same as previous nobles, the Earls of Kilmarnock, Balmerino and Derwentwater who were executed for treason the previous year.
At his trial, ever the Fox he insisted strongly upon his affection for the reigning family. Such were the characteristics of Simon Fraser, but of course he was found guilty the sentence, hanging, drawing and quartering was commuted later to a mere beheading by the King.
In a way, Lovat had the last laugh. Newspapers and pamphlets of the time recorded that as he was led out to the scaffold on Thursday, April 9, 1947, a wooden stand that had been erected near the Tower to seat crowds eager to see the execution collapsed sending hundreds plunging down. At least nine people died and dozens were injured, which amused Lovat – the phrase ‘laughing your head off’ is said to date from that event.
According to a woodcut print made on that fateful day, Lovat “with some composure laid his head on the block which the executioner took off with a single blow.”
As I mentioned at the top Lovat has been in the news quite recently. Simon had requested burial at the family mausoleum at Wardlaw near Inverness and the government initially agreed but changed its mind thinking his body could become a rallying point for further trouble. He was therefore buried in the floor of the chapel within the Tower of London, St. Peter ad Vincula. The chapel was refurbished in the 19th century and the floor was relaid. One of the coffins uncovered during the works had the nameplate of ‘Lord Lovat’. The names of those found are now recorded on a plaque on the wall of the chapel.
Fraser folklore, and written in several books says that his body was spirited away from London, the stories even go so far as to name the boat ‘The Pledger’ that sailed north to The Beauly Firth, where he was taken to the family mausoleum, there is even a plaque in the crypt that reads “In this coffin are laid the remains of Simon Lord Fraser of Lovat who, after twenty years in His own Land and abroad with the greatest distinction and renown, at the risk of his own life, restored and preserved his race, clan and household from the tyranny of the Athol and the treacherous plotting of the Mackenzies of Tarbat. To preserve an ancient house is not the greatest credit. Nor is there any honour for the enemy who despoiled it. Although that enemy was strong in his plotting and unrelenting warfare, yet Simon who was also skillful and cunning defeated him in war.“
In 2018 the headless skeleton inside the coffin was exhumed to be examined by experts from the University of Dundee in January this year they announced that the bones in the coffin did not belong to Simon Fraser, but to a young woman. So it looks like his body did end up rotting in The Tower’s Chapel, although the Frasers will still tell you otherwise.
Scottish actor Clive Russell played The Old Fox in the television adaptation off Outlander.

tarot red here. okay i asked about R’s future. this is in general so i got mixed (career and love life) messages here.
i think R will be always misinterpreted by other people, like the way she communicates or says stuff pisses people off because she comes off as entitled or a know it all so this will be something that can create some problems between the general public and liking her. i think R in general is very intense so people feel this intensity as feeling above everyone. reading this energy made feel very mad so i think some people will really don’t like her, she might have a lot of haters but it feels more like rage or jealousy, like no reason besides she’s very talkative and opinionated. i don’t feel really bad energy from her, she feels even quite insecure and she overcompensates being bold and strong. i think some side of the public will never be happy with her, like they will over analyze everything she does just to find something to hate even when there isn’t a reason for. this can create some rumors, but they don’t feel to big, like quite mild. maybe some people saying R is such a brat or she’s rude, but i think these rumors will be debunked quite fast. about success i see it here a lot, i see her really building something, a lot of money around her, being very independent. i think some directors will love to work with her and she might get quite the offers to be involved in some projects, like her meeting directors and having conversations with them and seeing if she wants to be part of their projects. i see maybe working with some brands or doing collabs with brands. or maybe collaborating with some big artists. but i see collaborations happening and i feel this is music related. also about chemistry she will always give attention to her ships and hype the connection with her romantic co star a lot, it feels that this will really help in her career a lot because at the end of the day is promotion. so i see a lot of romance here, so maybe she will work in some projects related to love or there will be some romantic stories going on in the movies (like maybe sub plots or something, i don’t get the right words here i hope y’all get it lol) but her chemistry with other people will always be praised. talking about connections, she might have hard time trusting people in the future and maybe being closed off to befriend co stars, i think she will have a bad experience with friendships with people on set so this will make her to be careful in who she trusts.
i think she will always have passion for what she does, she really loves arts. so i see her maybe focusing on some other stuff in the future like producing or being executive director in some shows or movies. like i don’t see her being just dedicated to acting, i see her trying a lot of endeavors. maybe something related to broadway, film or music she will be involved creatively. but this might take time when she has built something stable and she will be already very settle in her career. i see directing more than anything or teaching other people, like young actors or something like that. while seeing these cards i think R will be a mother in the future (lol) i didn’t exactly asked that, but i see it in the cards, maybe 2 kids and i think pregnancy will not be planned or will teach her some lessons, will help to heal some wounds she has. i see her being a really good mom, very nurturing and giving everything that she couldn’t have to her kids, a spoiling mom and just very supportive, she will really try to teach her kids and give them a lot of advices, very present on their lives. so this is where i can see a turn in her career, motherhood will make her change some things.
this is the first part of R’s reading. i will send the other part if y’all want me to. remember that this is just a reading, take everything with a grain of salt <3
Hey Red :)
“i think R will be always misinterpreted by other people, like the way she communicates or says stuff pisses people off because she comes off as entitled or a know it all so this will be something that can create some problems between the general public and liking her.”
Totally agree unfortunately
“i think R in general is very intense so people feel this intensity as feeling above everyone.”
People love to confuse passion with ego 🙄
“reading this energy made feel very mad so i think some people will really don’t like her, she might have a lot of haters but it feels more like rage or jealousy, like no reason besides she’s very talkative and opinionated.”
Yet if a man—
Let me stop before I get mad 🙄
“i don’t feel really bad energy from her, she feels even quite insecure and she overcompensates being bold and strong.”
She’s so young 😭 like why did the public bully this 19 year old girl! Seeing the comments on her birthday post and saying “wow I can’t believe I hated her. She was a teenager” like yeah no shit!!
“i think some side of the public will never be happy with her, like they will over analyze everything she does just to find something to hate even when there isn’t a reason for.”
That’s life! She needs to get it. Not everyone is going to like her and she has to accept that sooner or later. She will never be at peace until then.
“this can create some rumors, but they don’t feel to big, like quite mild. maybe some people saying R is such a brat or she’s rude, but i think these rumors will be debunked quite fast.”
Good!
“about success i see it here a lot, i see her really building something, a lot of money around her, being very independent.”
Independent? I pray for that daily
“i think some directors will love to work with her and she might get quite the offers to be involved in some projects, like her meeting directors and having conversations with them and seeing if she wants to be part of their projects.”
Cast and crew always love her so yes! She needs those connections.
“i see maybe working with some brands or doing collabs with brands. or maybe collaborating with some big artists. but i see collaborations happening and i feel this is music related.”
OH? 👀
“also about chemistry she will always give attention to her ships and hype the connection with her romantic co star a lot, it feels that this will really help in her career a lot because at the end of the day is promotion.”
Hmmm agree slightly but not for the reason you gave 🤭
“so i see a lot of romance here, so maybe she will work in some projects related to love or there will be some romantic stories going on in the movies (like maybe sub plots or something, i don’t get the right words here i hope y’all get it lol) but her chemistry with other people will always be praised.”
No shade but hopefully no more Romeo and Juliet adaptations lol. We need a break from that.
In terms of chemistry, there’s different types of chemistry….but let’s not get into that 😬
“talking about connections, she might have hard time trusting people in the future and maybe being closed off to befriend co stars, i think she will have a bad experience with friendships with people on set so this will make her to be careful in who she trusts.”
Yeah, the WSS set should’ve taught her that lesson. I hate most of the cast and crew from that project.
“i think she will always have passion for what she does, she really loves arts. so i see her maybe focusing on some other stuff in the future like producing or being executive director in some shows or movies.”
Completely agree!
“like i don’t see her being just dedicated to acting, i see her trying a lot of endeavors. maybe something related to broadway, film or music she will be involved creatively.”
I would love a R album! I need that EGOT status
“but this might take time when she has built something stable and she will be already very settle in her career.”
Yeah I can see that. She’s 23 so she has a lot of time to explore opportunities.
“i see directing more than anything or teaching other people, like young actors or something like that.”
This is cute 😭
“while seeing these cards i think R will be a mother in the future (lol) i didn’t exactly asked that, but i see it in the cards, maybe 2 kids and i think pregnancy will not be planned or will teach her some lessons, will help to heal some wounds she has.”
Hmmm…can’t speak on that. If that’s what she wants…
“I see her being a really good mom, very nurturing and giving everything that she couldn’t have to her kids, a spoiling mom and just very supportive, she will really try to teach her kids and give them a lot of advices, very present on their lives. so this is where i can see a turn in her career, motherhood will make her change some things.”
She’s very nurturing :)
Thanks Red! This was good

Have you heard of Spider-Man Lotus? And if you haven’t will you see it. It’s a fan made film that was made against Toms Spider-Man and it’s poorly mad and written lol. My thing is did Tom kill ppl in his past life? What is it about him that makes ppl so mad, start discourses on his acting range, hate train cause of his roles in uncharted and anything he does outside mcu. I literally saw one tweet by someone who said that he needs to stop doing serious roles and focus on his charm and do whimsical roles. Like huh?
No other white actor(Side note, I’m aware Tom is very lucky in his career despite these opinions about him. I say this cause there’s a lot of poc actors who don’t have the same privilege and opportunities in Hollywood so I hope it be isn’t seem like I’m delusional about Tom. He’s a yt millionaire after all lol), has this much vitriol for being a “bad actor”.
I’m so petty that I want Tom to continue to do more serious roles and be successful. There’s a lot of bad ppl in Hollywood and I understand he mad a silly comment about Pedro Almodovar and Martin Scorsese but is he the only actor to say or do something silly?. The standard for him against his white peers is just something else.
Apologies for my rant and hope you have a good day!
Have you heard of Spider-Man Lotus? And if you haven’t will you see it. It’s a fan made film that was made against Toms Spider-Man and it’s poorly mad and written lol.
I literally only JUST heard about this yesterday Anon lol. 😄 I saw it circulating online last night w/ppl talking about it.
But no, I already know I'm not going to watch.
I literally saw one tweet by someone who said that he needs to stop doing serious roles and focus on his charm and do whimsical roles. Like huh?
It's a GOOD thing actors don't take career advice from complete strangers on Twitter, huh lol? 😄
Tom does have awesome rizz though... So I can see why some would prefer to see more of that charm onscreen. I get it! I'd love to see more of it myself! 😊 Kinda like what he did with "Uncharted".
But it's not my career, it's Tom's career. So, whatever he decides is his choice, and I support his choice. 😊 Most actors choose scripts or roles that call to them or appeal to them in some way.
I’m so petty that I want Tom to continue to do more serious roles and be successful.
I already think Tom is very successful though, so maybe that's where we differ in overall opinion. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Re: Scorsese, etc....
I actually didn't see anything wrong with what Tom said in responseto Scorsese's comments re: Marvel films? 🤷🏾‍♀️ Imo, Tom was right... whether you're making a serious Oscar film, or a Marvel film, the process of filmmaking is still the same.
Even Scorsese himself clarified what he meant later on re: Marvel films....
Tumblr media
It sounds like he's just not a fan of comic book films just in general, and that's okay! Not everyone has to like them. If he doesn't like Marvel films, he doesn't like Marvel films. Big deal!? 🤷🏾‍♀️ Some ppl might not like "Taxi Driver". It's not a big deal imo. 😄 There's smthg for everyone in film art.... that's what makes it so great imo.
Apologies for my rant and hope you have a good day!
No apologies necessary! You know what day it is Lol 😅
Have a nice day as well ❤️

Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney perform “Good Morning” in the MGM film Babes in Arms (1939)
Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland proved to be a dynamic duo on screen, appearing together in such films as Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938) and Babes on Broadway (1941). The pair had an amazing connection, perhaps helped by the fact that they had a lot in common off-screen. They both came from theatrical families. Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm, made her stage debut as a toddler in her older sisters' act; and Rooney, born Joseph Yule, Jr., had a vaudeville performer for a father and a showgirl for a mother.
Both had parents who pushed them into show business. Rooney moved to California with his mother in the mid-1920s to launch his career, and she even changed his name to give it more Hollywood appeal. Garland grew up performing with her sisters before landing a film contract when she was only 13 years old. MGM Studios boss Louis B. Meyer reportedly hired Garland without having her do a screen test. She, too, went through a name transformation to make her more marketable. From an early age, Rooney and Garland both knew all too well the ups and downs of the entertainment business.
Rooney may have only been a year or so older than Garland, but he had much more film experience when they started working together. He made his film debut in the 1926 short, Not to Be Trusted. From there, Rooney starred in a series of shorts based on the comic strip character Mickey McGuire.
Garland and Rooney first met in 1935, when Rooney was a rising star and Garland was just starting out, but it took a few years for the studio realize that Garland and Rooney would be a winning combination.
Garland made her first feature film appearance in the 1936 sports comedy, Pigskin Parade. Garland and Rooney made their joint appearance in the 1937 film Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. Garland later credited Rooney with giving her some of the best acting advice of her career while making this film. He told the talented young performer to perform her lines "like you're singing it."
Rooney had already made four popular films in the Andy Hardy series before he was joined on screen by Garland. Starting with 1937's A Family Affair, the series explored the lives of Judge James K. Hardy and his family. Rooney played his teenaged son Andy, and this friendly character who seemed to represent an all-American image quickly won over audiences.
Garland first appeared in 1938's Love Finds Andy Hardy as Andy's friend Betsy. Early in her career, she was marketed as a girl-next-door type. The two characters' relationship mirrored the actors' off-screen connection as well. Garland, just like Betsy, had a romantic interest in Rooney at the start, but Rooney, similar to Andy, was too busy pursuing other girls to notice her. He was involved with a number of other actresses, including Norma Shearer, who was 20 years his senior.
Garland's career soon started to take off. When Rooney and Garland appeared in 1939's Babes in Arms, the pair shared top billing. The musical, directed by the legendary Busby Berkeley, proved to be a huge hit. Rooney and Garland seemed to play off each other in a way that made their performances better, and moviegoers found them to be a compelling and magical pair to watch.
Babes in Arms is a film version of the 1937 coming-of-age Broadway musical of the same title. Directed by Busby Berkeley, in addition to Rooney and Garland, it featured Charles Winninger, Guy Kibbee, June Preisser, Grace Hayes, and Betty Jaynes. It was Garland and Rooney's second film together as lead characters after their earlier successful pairing in the fourth of the Andy Hardy films. The film concerns a group of youngsters trying to put on a show to prove their vaudevillian parents wrong and make it to Broadway.
It premiered on October 13, 1939, and became one of the 10 biggest hits of the year. With all the adorable gumption of its young stars, Babes in Arms pays thoroughly entertaining tribute to the magic of show business.
The film was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Actor in a Leading Role for Mickey Rooney, who was 19 at the time and became the second-youngest Best Actor nominee, and Best Music, Scoring by Roger Edens and Georgie Stoll.

groan ups summary: the show starts with a school assembly from yellow group (5 young children) about their weekend, where they act out things that happened. Moon, who is clearly from a rich family, sees her horses. Her parents come to visit which is uncommon as she spends most of her time with her nanny. Archie wants to be a singer/actor, and dresses up in his mothers clothes which his father finds disturbing. His father also often takes him to football games which he finds boring. Spencer comes from a troubled family who dont take care of him well - he's not properly toilet trained and his parents are actively annoyed by his presence. He's quite clumsy and has to be reminded to be gentle with small animals. Simon is awkward and asthmatic. He's much quieter than the other four and we learn the least about him in his section (he announces he had nits then gets back in line) and the other children shout over him a lot. Katie is academically intelligent and precocious. Throughout the other childrens segments she interjects with things she'd heard her father say about the other mothers and in her section we learn he is having an affair with the maid.
After this the assembly is over and the children go back to their class. The teacher makes them stay indoors during break as punishment for all the inappropriate things they added in the assembly. She then leaves them unattended. Archie is new to the class as he recently got moved up and the other children try to include him in their games. [This section was going to be longer but this thing is long enough already so all you need to know is that Spencer kills the hamster, the kids blame Simon who becomes so upset he has to leave the room, and Archie ends up taking the blame to save Spencer because the teacher threatened to move him down. Spencer and Archie swear to be best friends forever.]
The curtain goes down and two teachers hand out end of year awards. When it goes up again the classroom behind is smaller - the kids have grown up a little and are now about 13-14. Moon is dating Archie, but he doesn't seem that into it. Katie arrives, stressing about exams. Simon shows up to faun over Moon, who hides from him. He's been obsessing over Moon to an unhealthy degree. He's also being bullied by other students who he is desperate to be friends with. Spencer arrives, and reveals to Simon that the four of them are having a party he wasn't invited to. Spencer and Katie have a mutual crush type thing going on, and Moon tries and fails to give Katie good dating advice. They mention that if Spencer failed the exams he'll be held back a year while everyone else moves up. Simon refuses to leave and they play a truth or dare, where Simon ends up doing something embarrassing. In revenge Simon dares Spencer to kiss Archie, which Spencer is fine with but Archie is very resistant to. They play a few more rounds of truth or dare, then find the tests in a teachers officer. Spencer decides not to replace his test with a new copy even though the others encourage him to in case he failed his first go. As their packing up to leave Archie puts Spencer's test back in the office.
Act 2: They're adults returning for a school reunion. Archie is married to Katie. Spencer works in a pet shop. Some guy called Paul turns up, who neither of them remember but pretend to so it doesn't get awkward. Simon arrives, pretending to be successful. He's hired someone to pretend to be his girlfriend. Moon is almost exactly the same as she was when she was 13. Each person has their own kind of subplot, and all of these are happening at the same time:
Spencer and Katie kiss, and inadvertently lose the class hamster. Spencer spends most of act 2 running back and forth to the pet shop with replacement pets (a similarly colored hamster, a completely different colored hamster, a snake, etc). Katie, in an attempt to find the original hamster, finds Spencer's test paper hidden behind a grate
Moon breaks up with her boyfriend, so Simon tries to stage increasingly dramatic break ups with his fake girlfriend for Moon to overhear, however he keeps doing it in front of the wrong people.
Paul reappears a few times to the confusion of everyone.
Katie and Archie chat, and its clear that Archie isn't that interested in spending time with her.
Eventually everyone reconvenes in the classroom at the same time. Simon and "Chamise" break up in front of Moon this time, which Moon seems to believe despite Katie deducing that Simon just hired an actress. (side note - the bootleg i've got has real shit audio but i'm 99% sure Moon's response to being told Chamise is an actress is "oh yeah she was a cage fighter in holby city" which iirc was a part the og actress did play).
Paul runs in, angry that no one remembers him until its pointed out that he's at the wrong school.
Simon insists he is a success but Spencer mocks him, which makes him so angry he threatens to throw himself out of a (ground floor) window. He reveals he is still angry about the bullying he experienced and blames his current attitude on the four of them making his school-life hell. Moon laughs at him, Katie says Moon is shallow and insecure. Moon retaliates by telling everyone that Katie and Spencer kissed. Spencer and Archie start bickering, Katie tries to mediate. Spencer is angry because Katie dumped him because he failed his test and got held back, but Katie remembers the test paper she found in the grate and shows him, saying he might not have failed. Archie looks very nervous and awkwardly forgives Spencer.
Spencer works out that Archie has something to do with this and Archie reveals that he didn't put Spencer's test back, he instead hid it and filled out a worse one so Spencer would fail. Archie snatches the paper out of Spencers hand so he can't read it, the two of them start fighting and Katie leaves to get a teacher. The two of them fight some more, with Spencer angrily demanding to know why Archie did it. Eventually Archie reveals that he was in love with Spencer, and made sure he was held back so he couldn't date Katie. Katie arrives just to hear this and asks Archie why he ever married her if he felt that way. Archie says he grew up ashamed of being gay and he truly does love her, or he at least tried to. Eventually the two of them get ready to leave because baby sitter is sick. Archie leaves first, the others start to leave as well - Moon gives Simon a lift iirc since he gave his fake girlfriend his fake bentley during the fake break ups and Spencer chats to Katie for a while. Katie leaves, then Archie returns just as Spencer finds a hamster. They chat briefly, then leave, and thats the end of the play.
Its been a little while since I last saw it so certain details may be wrong but thats pretty much it.
Thank you!! Solid summary!

Crossing another series off the list this week: we got the finale of Candy Color Paradox/Ameiro Paradox. Thoughts!
I know -- because I am one of them -- that there was vocal concern about the quality of the acting by the leads of Kimura Keito (Onoe) and Yamanaka Jyutaro (Kaburagi). They were definitely the weakest actors of the entire troupe that cast this show. Besides the very obvious Izuka Kenta, who outacted, like, the trees in his outdoor scenes, even the actors who played the guys’ colleagues at their tabloid newspaper demonstratively outperformed the two leads.
All this being said -- in my past reviews, I admitted to having a weak heart for Onoe and Kaburagi, and I still totally feel that way! I ABSOLUTELY felt like a soccer mom on the sidelines, cheering these two awkward dopes along their journey. I don’t know! I wish I had read the manga for canon background, because I kinda wonder if the awkwardness of their lack of experience, particularly with Kimura’s acting, maybe lent itself an authenticity to the character of Onoe that may have been reflected in the manga?
I have no idea, and I don’t read the forums at MDL, where I believe a lot of this discussion was taking place. But in any case, for me, it was kind of this practice of the guys stumbling around in the first place, figuring out their language together, working individually on their process of confessions, that I honestly loved about this show and the storyline, and it did truly keep me coming back. I really thought their back and forth was sweet.
To me, their miscommunications weren’t as frustrating as, say what went down in Individual Circumstances, where clearly, the storyline would have been solved in a sec if the guys just TALKED. I did say in my review of IC that I happen to appreciate the trope of miscommunication, because I think it’s more relative to Asian cultures than Western viewers might relate to.
But in the case of CCP, I think what I saw in the script was just a simple matter of growth. Kabu needed advice from older and wiser people (maybe not wiser in the case of Izuka’s character, but yadda whatever) to recognize that Onoe’s need was to have simple and direct messages aimed at him. And I thought it was really cute that Kabu challenged Onoe at the end to finally state his (Onoe’s) own feelings into words, which funnily, Onoe hadn’t done the entire series. He himself thought he was communicating clearly -- but they both just needed to SAY THEIR WORDS to seal the deal.
I happened to appreciate the awkward lovey scenes. They were so awkward -- but again, I wonder, was it meant to be that way? Who knows. But that was more heat than I could have expected from this show, AT ALL, so honestly, I appreciate its placement. Onoe’s clearly an awkward dude ANYWAY, so might as well make the love hotel scenes that way.
Final thought (and then one footnote***): I appreciated that the final episode focused solely on the pairing, and not on a case. I loved that. I loved that the script gave the guys 23 minutes to resolve themselves without a distraction. I thought that was compassionate and generous, and a lovely touch.
I wouldn’t HIGHLY recommend this as a must-watch, but if you have the time for something fun and light, with two cuties figuring out EVERRRRRRYTHING, then go for it. I’m glad I watched this one!
***Feel free to skip this, but just wanted to say that it’s clear that Yamanaka’s agency/group (M!LK) and Kimura’s agency (Exile Tribe/LDH-Love Dream Happiness) were trying to make lightning strike twice -- three times in the case of Exile, as Yagi Yusei and Machida Keita have done BL wonders for that agency. I THINK that Yamanaka was M!LK’s first BL actor, but Sano Hayato, the lead for M!LK, is quite a successful actor with significant roles in at least two previous evening doramas (including a non-BL show with Machida). So yeah, I believe the casting for Candy Color Paradox was done to intentionally expand a stable of actors. I just don’t think Yamanaka and Kimura were ready for this script, but I think they did their best.
