finally at that age where i'm thinking i should get a tattoo. not bc i feel strongly about it, just seems like a waste not to. i've got so much skin i'm not using

#feels so selfish like. all this skin what am i saving it for?#open to design suggestions! (please make me regret this offer)#maybe some deep sea horrors. a pretty watercolor of a gulper eel #once saw a person on the subway with various Skeleton Tattoos on all their limbs #i respected their commitment to the theme #but more than that i respected how all the skeletons were engaged in Activities #dancing in a ballgown. juggling its own (and two other???) skulls. swordfighting. being a mermaid skeleton #ANYWAY. the only reason i haven't already gotten tattoos is i just couldn't be bothered #i'm old enough to know i don't have any strong-but-potentially-temporary feelings driving me towards it #aesthetically i prefer decorated to non-decorated surfaces. but i'm not artistic or thrilled with commitment #honestly it feels like sheer laziness. indecisiveness--nay. immaturity!--that i HAVEN'T gotten a tattoo yet #letting all this blank canvas go to waste. tut tut i need to grow up and be an adult and get a tattoo sleeve already.#really i've put off my responsibilities long enough #(in fairness i DID at one time have 18 different piercings)#(but i took most of them out bc they interfere with wearing headphones and/or shoving my face in my pillow during Sleep Time)#(i only kept the nape piercing bc oddly enough it ended up being the most convenient. and the least painful to get now i think about it.)#(neck piercing? no problem. normal pair of earrings? Tribulations And Suffering. i don't make the rules i just poke them with a stick.)

Passing on advice I received growing up as someone who grew up around alternative adults of several flavors and heavily tattooed folks with "job killer" tattoos (and was raised by one such person!) that I have had to put into practice as someone who is alternative themself now:

If you are a young alternative person, it cannot be understated how important having a couple "normie" pieces of clothes in your closet "just in case" is.

Sometimes you will have a job interview, a doctor's appointment, a housing application, or some other kind of obligation where for your own safety and security you need to tone yourself down for a brief period of time.

It's not fair. It's bullshit. But sometimes you have to eat your vegetables you know? And it's a cost benefit analysis and it depends on the things you personally prioritize in your own life, but sometimes minor sacrifices have to be made in order to keep yourself safe and get yourself things you need to do so.

#thinking about this because i'm actively toning myself down for a doctors appointment right now #because i need my T and i can't have them creating biases against me and jeopardize that #because to me it's worth the temporary dissatisfaction of not wearing my jewelry or any make up or my favorite clothes #and covering my tattoos #to get a medication that i desperately need #like. like i said - personal cost benefit analysis is important here #but yeah #sometimes we gotta do things we don't like to get something we need #original post

the thing abt the surgery is that yes I do get litle moments of being ecstatic it finally happened but also I just feel Normal now. like my base state for all my life up until last week was worry, horror, and panic when i'd occasionally remember the very unwanted thing my body was capable of, spiraling into what ifs on potential conflicts in my life and future... and now i just feel Not Stressed Out All the Time. Normal.

#talkys #and again that's still that i have not really ever been in active risk of anything happening LOL #god im so happy. im really considering the tattoo even though im not a tattoo person at all #ill see. it depends on how much my incisions/scars fade...but a small green line shouldn't be that bothersome to always be looking at...#ALSO tbf a tiny bit of the worry is still there... im gonna ask my doctor to detail everything about the photos he took of my insides #bc idk. what if they somehow grow back. what if he didn't remove all of em. ykwim. pair of noia #but that's also just due to regular health anxiety #actually you know what can i schedule a hysto. just to be super sure nothing can ever happen to me.#+ ALSO ALSO it didn't feel real every day leading up to it and it kind of still doesn't! like! who was that cheye! he wasn't scared at all!#no way i found a doctor to do it and my parents didnt fight me on it and my mom didnt scream and cry and cause a scene once there. #star wars #soft wars #bacara #commander bacara #drawing pictures in the soft wars sandbox #not sure if the soft wars people are still active so hoping this finds its way to the right place #originally the sweater only had the purple eel but i decided it wasnt nearly bad enough so i added the christmas-ugly-sweater-type pattern #the two dots by the collar are based on his helmet design #the helmet patterns are tiny bacaras and rexes #(neyo learned to sew just to make this outfit)#(wolffe after learning about this Tradition started making eel-shaped scarves and assorted Decadent knitwear for rex so he would match)#also bacara's wrist tattoo is based off how he wrote rex and neyos names in his bracer #so this is a sort of unarmored version of that #hope i got his knee brace on the right leg!
