opinions on god in jeans by ryan beatty as a pynch song?

JESUS CHRIST okay first of all i’m so sorry it took me this long to get around to listening to god in jeans. but!!! i have finally done it. and. wow. okay. it’s an absolutely gorgeous song and there is nothing about it that is NOT pynch, frankly. “fueling the fire” and “i pray to the open sky” were two lines that i thought were especially evocative of ronan/adam’s feelings for each other. “if i'm going to hell, i'm taking you with me” was another beautiful one (that i thought was not quite ronan because i don’t think he would do that to adam but it still definitely fits in). the idea of taking god to hell for love??? unparalleled. i think both of them see the other as gods but although ronan is like. the actual god. i do think that he worships adam more. there’s a lot i could expand on but i’m super fucking tired right now and don’t think i can. thank you so much for sending this song to me and please let me know what other ones i should listen to!

Pleasure to burn

Adam Page and Swerve Strickland fic. This is the first part of this thing, I'll write the other part tomorrow.

This does have spoilers for this week's Dynamite so if you haven't seen it avoid at all cost.

ALSO, if you see a lot of reference to a certain book about burning things...yeah.

(I'll mention it the title of it when I publish the whole thing on AO3)

It was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed.

Adam remembers reading that sentence years ago, half understanding what it meant as he went through the book and followed Guy Montag's job of burning books and causing fires instead of preventing them. In the first couple of pages alone, he wondered what made him enjoy burning something that could be so personal to some people.

He finally got it with one strike of a match.

The media team always uploads so damn fast, so he wasn't too surprise to see on his secret account his name and face all across Twitter. He took another sip and let the warmth of the whisky fill him as he let the video play out. Adam wondered if Montag ever sat close to the flames like he was doing, letting the heat hit his back and watch the smoke surround the sky around him. If he ever had to burn the books of someone that he despised with all of his being.

His memory's fuzzy on parts, it's been so long. He remembers that Montag did love burning until he met some people that changed him. Mostly for the better.

Swerve was someone that changed him. Completely. He was still deciding if it was for the better or worse yet. He was more cautious, checking his phone for cameras around his house, teaming up with people that could get him closer towards Swerve, being careful and precise with exactly what he wanted in all of his promos.

He was angry. So much anger than he's felt in years, not even towards all of his friends. A lot of it in the past was doubt and bitterness mixed up and masked in anger, towards them, towards himself, towards the choices he made and couldn't help making because his brain was being clouded.

This was different. This burned in his chest, flared up everything in his body and sent him spiraling towards attacks he thought he had settled a year ago. Even now, while the video played and he heard Swerve's protests and finally felt satisfied with every scream that was let out, he felt that tight feeling trying to come through.

When Montag let that hose he had onto Beatty, did he feel satisfaction among his horror, even for a split second? Beatty was about to ruin his life, even when Montag was doing the right thing, and Montag reacted right.

He was right, just like Adam was right.

He was right.

Adam takes another sip of his drink. He focuses on the slight bite it has, the way it turned smooth as he gulped it down and how it dropped down inside him warm. He still heard the crowd on his phone, and swipes them away.

In it's place came music, some that he cut up loud as he took his sweet time loading up his couch back onto his truck, putting his whiskey and glass in the car, and looking one more time at the burning house in front of him.

Flickers of orange and red were glowing right at him in the night, along with the smoke surrounding it in huge puffs. The whiteness were now turning a charred black, burning away the physical memory of a family that lived here, whose past is now only told in pictures that he happened to luck upon on his search. Now he was part of that history, as the man who burned it down as a lesson.

Finally, they were back on equal ground.

Dick's memories:

I've been working on this part for 6 months. I wrote a lot of it from memory and then went to find the panels and check I was characterising them correctly (and add the attribution).

There are some big moments in Dick and Tim's relationship referenced here, of course. But wherever possible, I tried to choose slightly less well known moments, or an alternate panel from the main one pointed to in that issue.

Some fun facts:

38 footnotes, referencing 34 separate comics (I use two scenes from the same issue for 4 comics: Batman, Nightwing, Robin, and Gotham Knights)

15 different comic runs are referenced (Batman, Detective Comics, Azrael, Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Robin, Red Robin, Batman: Shadow of the Bat, Gotham Knights, New Titans, Showcase '93, Joker: Last Laugh, Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, and Blackest Night: Batman)

The years covered by the comics are the following: 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

The years missed are the following: 1989 and 1991.

1989: I skipped because I really, really wanted to open with Tim's first actual team up with Dick after A Lonely Place of Dying. Plus, Dick didn't really look and see Tim until after ALPoD. That's why no circus, no baby Tim, no origin story.

1991: Dick and Tim do not interact in any comic labelled 1991. They do appear in a single splash panel together.

I struggled with myself over whether to include 2009 or not, because I wanted moments of brotherhood between Tim and Dick, where they clearly cared for each other, and I didn't want to include any of Battle for the Cowl or the Red Robin fight. There were in the end only three stories that really qualified: The end of Heart of Hush; the 2008 Holiday Special (which has a Feb 2009 cover date); and Blackest Night: Batman. The only issue of Heart of Hush with a 2009 coverdate simply doesn't have any conversation BETWEEN Dick and Tim to use (they're too busy explaining to Tommy how much he screwed up); while I do like the Wonderful Life story, the costume handover was a bit too twee to fit anywhere into the flow of memories plus Owen Mercer's there; and in the end, I used the panel AFTER the panel of Blackest Night. This was a slight cop out in terms of the whole 'avoid the Red Robin fight' aim, but it's the one big moment that shows Dick and Tim were still in sync during that time, and in terms of the scene build it slotted quite nicely into the explosions-building-to-dead-Tim run of memories.

14 different writers created the comics (Marv Wolfman, Alan Grant, Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Dennis O'Neil, Devin Grayson, Scott Beatty, Brad Meltzer, Geoff Johns, Adam Beechen, Fabian Nicieza, Peter Tomasi, Christopher Yost, and Scott Snyder)

The most common writer was of course Chuck Dixon, who wrote 10 of the issues; Devin Grayson was in second with 6 issues.

The comic that appears the most often is Nightwing, with 6 issues; Gotham Knights has 5 issues appear.

I had great fun constructing this; I hope while you were reading it many of the scenes also played in your head.

Willa TV Project – Robert Beatty Books

I was avoiding posting about this until I saw something a little more official but it's a whole page on his official website so I guess that's as official as it gets

But basically they are finally adapting his books to the screen the company that he is teamed up is surprisingly entertainment one not disney who owns the rights also it's just willa that's being adapted not serafina for reasons I'm not very clear on

Anyways this whole thing is just odd even beyond the whole serafina is not being adapted they're straight cutting to book four of the series and disney doesn't seem to have much if anything to do with it

For a little context in the south within a certain vicinity of ashville (like reaching into other states) the serafina series was marketed HARD everyone knew about it and was supporting it this whole tv show deal tho has been very quiet I've only really seen rumblings of it from the far corners of the internet

They also said in that link above filming locations are not determined yet and this is just me speculating but it does not sound like they are planning on filming it in the smoky mountains again odd that whole area is pretty popular for film projects even hunger games filmed in the Appalachian Mountains so I hope they're gonna film there but idk again I haven't heard ANYTHING

But finally I want to talk about the group that's making it Entertainment One with Amy Adam's Bond Group Entertainment

Entertainment One is kinda interesting when I started looking into them they have things like Peppa Pig dungeons and dragons and insidious they apparently started as a music distributing company that made the switch to movie distribution a few years later and in 2016 a British tv broadcaster ITV plc offered to buy them out for $1.3 bill which they rejected because it was "fundamentally undervalued" the whole time they are pretty much acquiring different other smaller companies left and right and they have a large investment in Quibi I guess? But in mid 2019 Hasbro brought announced that they were apparently acquiring Entertainment one for $4 bill (according to Wikipedia) when hasbro obtained them tho it seems they started making plenty of cuts like laying 10% of it's film and television staff (again number is from Wikipedia) and many branches of the company were straight up closed and by 2022 has brought announced they were planning on selling the company to lionsgate but by the time deal closed last December Entertainment one had already closed its distributing branches in most countries including England and lionsgate bought their assets for $500 mill so safe to say is a dying company that probably won't even last long enough for this project to happen (they were also split into three different separate companies)

Amy Adam's Bond Group Entertainment on the other hand is interesting in a different way according to deadline the company will work mostly with best selling book ip yeah "WILL" seems like this company has not done a whole lot yet the company was only even first launched in 2019 deadline also lists off willa of the wood as one of the things they have in development yeah the show that has basically no buzz is named as one of the biggest things they have in development the company has also very obvious been relying on the name of Amy Adam's so far I mean there's a whole paragraph about her specifically in link to Robert beattys website above

Idk just seems like they have these two companies one that's standing on its last leg and another that's just starting and they're starting halfway through the series it's just odd I'm not letting my hopes up yet because honestly I'll just be happy if it ever even comes out I first heard about this thing a WHILE ago and it's been pretty quite so who knows
