He looked at the two men running with all their might to the ball. The clearly faster opponent did not manage to brake falling directly into Adam. As if in slow motion, he watched the strangely bending body of the brunet hitting his head on the wall.

The stadium went silent.

He waited with bated breath for the game to resume, but Adam still did not move staring dully ahead. Concerned, the gray-haired man rushed with his rescuers to the players huddled around the fallen striker.

However, upon reaching the brunet, he met only the glassy gaze of hazel eyes and twisted body.

The young man's laughter echoed in his head.

“Fuck you!” You scream walking away in a huff as your boyfriend followed you.

“Baby! Come on don’t leave!” He yelled after you as he followed you to the entrance of the house.

“Get away from me! You don’t love me Arien!” You yell as you put on your sweater.

“I do! I fucking love you so much! Don’t leave baby, talk to me.” He yells after you, his voice fading away with every step you took. He went back inside deciding not to follow you. He knew you needed space.

You just caught him in the middle of your shared friend’s party kissing on one of the girls. Her hands were all over him and it made you physically sick to your stomach. Your tears poured down your cheeks as you thought over what you saw. Did the fight you had before the party really affect your relationship that much?

You were always there for Arien. No matter what he was going through you were there for him but he was never there for you.

You rushed outside and away from the party. You walked pretty far and into the busy city.

How could he do that to you? You’ve been together for so long. You trusted him. You loved him. You couldn’t believe he did this to you. You thought he had an ounce of respect for you. You were fuming ignoring the world around you before you bumped into someone almost knocking you over.

“Watch where you’re going bitch!” He yelled at you turning around with a face filled with fury until he got a good look at you. He raised his eyebrows and put on a smirk.

“What are you doing out here all alone?” He said seductively as he grabbed your upper arm trying to feel you up. You snatch it away continuing your walk but he wasn’t letting you go that easily. He grabbed you again trying to hold you close to him.

“Get the fuck off me!” You yelled hitting him making him push you away. You stumbled in your heels into the street, your ankle buckling beneath you.

Headlights blind your vision.

Everything happened so fast.

Your eyes widen before you fly over the hood and hit the ground. Your head hits the ground hard and you fall unconscious. The crowd shocked as they watched your body hit the ground, bloody and beaten. A woman quickly shields her child as she calls the ambulance.

Arien went to chase after you but he was held back by his friends. They tried to keep him at the party handing him drinks. He looked all over for you not seeing you anywhere in the vicinity. Your shared friend, Jessie, helped him look for you telling Arien ‘she couldn’t have gone far’. He panicked until he got a call from the hospital that you were there. They didn’t explain what happened to you but told him he needed to be there urgently since she was her emergency contact. He got in his car, dodging through traffic, running red lights, nearly killing himself in the process.

When he arrived he ran inside quickly getting on the elevator. He rested an arm on the wall and put his forehead on top. His leg was restless as he waited for the elevator to indicate that he made it to the main floor. When the elevator made the high pitched ding he zoomed out of the door. It was crowded, he was sweating and panting. He ran to the receptionist and slammed his hands down on the desk. She was busy talking to the nurses and other patients but he couldn’t wait until she was finished this was important.

“Emergency room. W-where’s the fucking emergency room? Just tell me.” He says quickly waving his hands but the nurse glares at him holding up one finger.

“Hold on!” She shouts at him before he asks her the same question in an even more urgent tone.

“Where is it? Where is it?!” He yells shaking his hands as she repeats for him to hold on before he runs off to find it himself.

He dodges everyone making his way to you. He tears back curtains and dips his head into doors His nerves were shot and he was scared. He didn’t want anything bad to happen to you. He hoped you just needed crutches, a brace, hell even a cast. He hoped it wasn’t as urgent as it sounded but when he got to the door…it was far worse than the phone call.

There you were covered in fresh and dried blood. They held an oxygen mask to your face trying to make sure you could breathe. The machines beeping mixed with the calls the doctors were making to each other. They opened your eye and flashed a light with no reaction from you. His ears began to ring as his breathing picked up. He was swaying and blinking as if he weren’t here right now. This wasn’t you. He was in the wrong room. He had to had gone to the wrong room.

This was not you.

He looked up to see the heart monitor was not picking up your heart beat. You weren’t breathing. The doctor was doing CPR on you trying his best to revive you. The machine was going haywire clearly in a state of emergency. The defibrillator was charged up before the doctor yelled clear.

“What happened?” He managed to breathe out.

“Sir you can’t be in here.” The EMT said standing in front of him.

“What happened to her!?” He yells repeatedly as he is trying to get closer to your unconscious body.

“Clear! Clear!” The doctor yelled using the defibrillator on you once more. He looked in horror as he watched your chest rise but you still weren’t responding. Not a blink, not a twitch.

“Sir you need to leave.” The EMT orders him, his tone firm.

“Tell me what fucking happened to her!” He shouted over and over, his voice filled with urgency as the security guards held him dragging him out of the OR which was a struggle with him thrashing around trying to slip through them.

He couldn’t help but think of the fight you both had before the party. That stupid fight that lead you here and then the girl. He knew better than to do that. He knew he should’ve went after you instead he stayed back to give you space. He drank a few more and listened to his friend. You wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him.

A stupid fight about nothing. That’s what you’ll remember.

Arien kissing another woman. That’s what you’ll remember.

Seeing those headlights hit you. That’s what you’ll remember.

The sound of you flatlining ringed in his ears as he looked up at your lifeless body. Your arm falling off the hospital table. The room fell silent as he watched. He dropped to his knees and his heart shattering as he did. He couldn’t believe it…you were gone.

He couldn’t muster a word. Not even a sound would leave his lips. He was still the noise just playing in his head as he watched them cover your bloody face with the white cloth. The doctor called it and looked over at Arien with sorrow in his eyes.

You died with a broken heart.

You died with bitterness and betrayal.

You died thinking you weren’t loved by the one who loved you.

This was the one thing he could not fix.

Arien knew he was going to live the rest of his life with regret. He was going to live the rest of his life knowing you died hating him. He was going to know that you died alone and upset. He had to live with the fact that he is never going to be able to apologize to you for what he had done. You died a tragic death and anger filling your heart.

He would forever regret that.
