out of everything jack could be doing with his night, he decides to do the one thing he shouldn’t—avoid every responsibility, every hint of common sense, and leave his apartment under the grounds of clearing his head. hard to lie to himself, though. hasn’t convinced himself worth a damn. but sleep hasn’t come easy in close to a decade and it’s stressing him out to be in there. wonder why. definitely not the junk he’s got stacked up to the ceiling, or the fact that it all has him curling up in a closet instead of the bed he doesn’t have. 

but taking a stroll this late at night has other problems, too. he’s been really working on trying to make work his sole source of a... particular income. off-duty, there’s no justifications, no protections in place. he can’t excuse shit. old habits die hard. he has his eyes boring into the back of a jogger even before he can really tell himself to knock it off. not that it would work. 

the predator in him has the event mapped out and ready to go. takes the leash and flips it so that common sense is being choked instead. before he knows it, he’s got himself waiting in an alleyway for just the right moment to reach out and—fuck, that’s him.

it’s painfully routine. a shadow comes into view. he snaps forward and yanks the warm body into the darkness, that gaping pit inside of him opening wide to take in—that’s not a normal person. or conduit. jack finds himself caught between immediately releasing his grip (like he’s been burned) and clamping down harder. he does neither. keeps his grip just enough to make sure he isn’t able to squeal.

“i can’t believe i’m doing this,” he starts, more to himself than to this... accident; “but, look. here’s how this is going to go. i’m going to let go, and you’re not going to yell. ok? this is... a mistake. a huge mistake. i swear to god, i didn’t realize what i was dealing with.”

  ( .. growing up as he had , mon never had a pet. hecks , he’d never really seen himself as a pet owner. he could hardly take care of himself , as is. let alone , take care of something , that’d depend on him so much. but here he was , with his new companion. the little german pit puppy was given to him as a gift , from a certain someone. and he’d admittedly , already grown attached to the squirmy little thing. .. ) 

  ( .. that’d been a few months , prior , to the whacky series of events ; that’d taken place last week. he was walking coachella around the city , and somehow found himself , in the spot where he’d encountered the weird monster thing. and of all the people , he could run into , it was the same guy from that night. “ well lookie here , you’re still alive and kickin’. woulda thought , that you’d been eaten alive or somethin’ ; by those things. and i mean this with the utmost offense , you’re not exactly someone who looks , he can hold his own. ” snorted , keeping a watchful eye on his curious pupper , while she sniffed about. “ i’m guessin’ your fear of the dark , only worsened since that. if you like , i’ll contribute to buy you a night light. ” mon cackled , with a shake of his head. .. )

Eli was happy to get to hang out with his friend Adam. Unlike Noah, Adam would do silly and corny friend things with him. Like go to the gym and then go to one another’s houses and have a lazy rest of the day with neftlix or hulu and junk food. “Hey, so you want to go to my place? I am thinking of cooking up some burgers and starting that Sabrina the Teenage Witch show.” He offered to Adam as they entered into the gym. He loved things with Noah, but sometimes the constant competing was all they did and Adam was like someone he could just be chill around.

Desiree couldn’t believe she actually came to the carnival. It was filled with people and felt even more crowded than the compound did. However, she had spoken to a few people and knew that her few friends would be here so she really didn’t want to be stuck at the compound all day by herself. Then she would really be bored. Making her way around the carnival, she kept her eyes out for any of them. Elena would probably be in the haunted house, so she knew she’d need to go there later, so she had planned on either finding Sloan or Dimitri, but spotting a familiar face in the crowd, she made her way over to someone else. “If it isn’t my future paintball buddy. Are you enjoying the carnival?”

Farrah had been walking around the carnival, making sure everything was still up and running. She was pretty proud of what her and the other founders were able to do to the place. Seeing all the smiles was also making her pretty happy. She noticed she also hadn’t met everyone there yet, though that was expected with how long she is cooped up in the tech room. Finding a mutant she hadn’t met before, she walked over to him. “Hey, are you enjoying the carnival?” She asked, giving him a smile. @adamroberts​

Even on crutches, Fin was trying to get around as much as he could. He was tired of sitting around on his bed or sitting around his with leg propped on a chair. Yeah, maybe it wasn’t smart to be doing this, but he wasn’t one to sit around all day, even when he drew, it was only for a couple hours at most. Making his way down the halls of the underground, he had his head down, being lost in thought of so many things. He had too much on his mind and of course as always, he spent his time walking down the halls to do his thinking. Bad idea. Though, somehow he made it through almost the whole building before actually bumping into anyone. Dropping one of his crutches at the small collision, he let out a soft groan, leaning onto his surviving crutch. He looked to the other person. “I am so sorry. I wasn’t really paying attention.” That wasn’t anything new though.
