G-Star “RAW RAVE” at RIJKS – What It’s Like to Attend ADE’s Most Sought After Private Party Invite, where ‘DJs, designers, models and music industry insiders outnumber regular people’

This year, we attended the Exclusive Invite-Only ‘RAW RAVE‘ at the iconic Rijksmuseum Bike Passage for G-Star RAW’s 30th Anniversary Bash during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).

The G-Star RAW’s 30th Anniversary Rave at the RIJKS, with performances from TITIA, Boys Noize and , the Rijksmuseum was jam packed with industry insiders, movers & shakers, designers and models.

In honor of the 30-year anniversary of G-Star RAW, the iconic Passage under the Rijksmuseum was taken over by RAW RAVE on Thursday 17 October. Music performances by De Staat, Boys Noize and TITIA transformed the evening into a unique musical experience with an energetic mix of rave, breakbeat, acid and electro music.

1500 fans danced the night away under the iconic Rijksmuseum bicycle Passage outfitted strobe lights. A lucky number of G-Star fans obtained access through an online raffle where approximately 6,000 consumers participated in.

With this live event, G-Star RAW marked the start of a three-year collaboration with Amsterdam Dance Event, a club festival with more than 400,000 guests and more than 2,500 artists.

The three-decade anniversary would not be complete without a striking G-Star collection, simply registered “30-Y Collection.” All pieces are inspired by pieces that have been associated with the denim brand since it was founded in 1989 and now have a place within the infamous “G-Star Archive.”

Highlights: Aside from getting to see Boys Noize and TITIA tear the RIJKS up — bumping into the Boisset Brothers, who flew in from Spain to make a special appearance for the night.

For some time now, it’s been on our bucket-list to party at the Rijksmuseum during ADE, being able to fulfill it with Boys Noize and TITIA performing, is icing on the cake.

Docenten zijn de slechtste leerlingen

In onze lessen besteden we tijd aan meer dan alleen de lesinhoud die hoort bij ons vak. Algemene vaardigheden, normen, waarden, gedrag, respect, plannen, reflecteren, presenteren, allemaal dingen die zomaar bij elke docent langs kunnen komen als lesje in een les.

Zo staan we vaak genoeg stil bij wat we “normaal” gedrag vinden en wat we verwachten van leerlingen in het lokaal. Hilarisch is het dan ook als je ‘s Ochtends tijdens een vergadering over hoe gaan we vergaderen, het precies zo ziet lopen als dat we net aan het bespreken zijn dat we niet willen.

Net zoals in de klas moet er afgesproken worden hoe iemand het woord neemt. In mijn les is dat soms door een vinger op te steken en soms juist helemaal niet. Ik bepaal dat aan de hand van het doel van dat lesonderdeel en probeer daarover dan zo duidelijk mogelijk naar de leerlingen te zijn. Iets wat, hopelijk, al mijn collega’s ook doen. Maar... Als we zelf de “leerlingen” zijn, in een vergadering, zijn we net zo “erg”. De een praat, de ander praat er door heen, weer een ander steekt heel “luid en duidelijk” de hand op waarvan de spreker weer van haar stuk wordt gebracht.

Docenten zijn slechte leerlingen. Maar tijdens het observeren van dit gedrag, kon ik toch mijn lach niet inhouden en was ik dus weer hetzelfde als die leerling die lacht om het gedrag van zijn klasgenoten. Stom hè?

En daar moet ik nu aan terugdenken, kwart voor twaalf ‘s avonds nadat ik net twintig minuten voor tijd een deadline haal. Ik druk leerlingen nog zo op het hard om te plannen, rekening te houden met het onvoorspelbare. Ik hoor mezelf nog zeggen: “wat als de laatste avond er iets gebeurt of je opeens ziek wordt, dan heb je een probleem!” Daar moest ik een uur geleden wel om lachen terwijl ik mij steeds zieker voelde worden, maar door moest vanwege een deadline. Zelfspot noemen we dat.

Docenten zijn de slechtste leerlingen, ik dus blijkbaar soms ook. Maar gelukkig zie ik het van mezelf en kan ik er nog om lachen ook. Dingen die ik ook altijd belangrijk vind bij leerlingen.

En voor “insiders”, de deadline was voor mijn aanmelding voor het Apple Distinguished Educator-programma. Of zoals ik het uitlegde aan mijn leerlingen: een keurmerk voor docenten die goede dingen doen met Appletechnologie in hun onderwijs. Ik moest mezelf in twee minuten presenteren en laten zien waarom ik het verdien om ADE te worden. Deadline gehaald, makkie toch? Ik had zeker nog twintig minuten over. Nu hopen dat ik een voldoende haal! ;-)

Precies ongeveer een jaar geleden mocht ik tijdens @amsterdamdanceevent voor @fuckupnightsamsterdam mijn grootste fuck-ups delen (en wat ik daarvan heb geleerd). Supereng. Supervet. . Ik vond het enorm verhelderend om te zien en te voelen dat ze bij de #FuckUpNights fuck-ups VIEREN omdat je er iets van leert en dat je met die lessen anderen kan inspireren. Elke fuck-up werd met applaus ontvangen! . Ik probeer ze natuurlijk zo goed als mogelijk te vermijden, maar heb inmiddels wel geaccepteerd dat er vast nog weleens iets ff anders loopt dan gepland of dat ik ergens ooit een keer een fout maak. Maar ook daar leer ik van. En boyyy wat lucht dat op. . Mijn lessen samengevat: . 🏃 Er is een verschil tussen ergens voor weglopen en ergens van weglopen. . ❌ Ben niet bang om fouten te maken. Juist het (altijd) rigide nastreven van perfectie kan (soms) een goed resultaat in de weg staan. . 😵 Wees geen slachtoffer van de situatie, maar neem je verantwoordelijkheid. Ben je bewust van een confirmation bias. . 🌠 Volg je droom door jezelf te (leren) kennen, te weten wat je drijft, je missie en visie na te streven en in beweging te blijven. .
