Are there any storyboarding apps that are good and not super expensive or subscription based
#Chatterbomb#I used notability and really liked it but then it wanted me to pay for a subscription#I liked the select few pens (pencil pen and highlighter) and the duplicate function was pretty simple! I liked that I could add an mp3 to#Listen to the audio while boarding and that I could scroll through the pages#I think I would like if the eraser could be more selective with what it erased (like just the pencil or highlighter or pen)#I didn’t like how the quality dropped in transport to a pdf#But notability would’ve been good if it didn’t have a usage limit!! If it was just a one time purchase I’d reconsider but it’s bullshit to#Make a note taking software subscription based!!#I didn’t want to use procreate because it feels too professional to just scribble the ideas down#it also doesn’t have as nice of page layout and it doesn’t select strokes. Which is fine for an art program but I’m looking for something m#Probably more vector based. So the quality isn’t at risk I guess? Would a vector program be better for storyboarding?#Then again I like the pencil for the drawings themself. Idk#Is there a simple solution outside of add making an affordable storyboarding software to my to do list#Storyboarding#should I post on reddit#I feel like that might be too difficult with how closed off it is due to the karma system#art advice#art help#are any of these tags going to help#Boords.com is really good for pdfs (very good formatting imo and clean) it’s just a matter of what software can I use them best in

I’m realizing that talking with one of my new coworkers the other day was maybe one of the most in depth conversations about my gender and all that shit that I’ve ever had. He’s transmasc and genderfluid and on t, and is talking to me about his experience transitioning and how that interacts with his genderfluidity, asking if I would ever want to medically transition, talking about being out to family or in other specific settings and how being very dysphoric or not being as dysphoric can play into how and when you come out and like. it’s so interesting! bc I have many trans friends, they’re all very cool and we’ve all talked about being trans before, but to have someone who’s gender identity is very similar to my own but who is at a very different point in their transition and is actually taking me into conversations about stuff I’ve just never really talked about before as a fem-presenting person who just like. hasn’t really had physics transition as an option to me because I’m still closeted to my family and who hasn’t had to rush out of the closet because I can survive looking the way I do and being perceived as a woman. This shit just doesn’t really come up for me so to be able to talk to someone about it like that was really neat. he’s really cool I wish he want moving back home at the end of the summer
#At one point we were also talking about binding and I mentioned my desire to bind but that it’s hard for me to get a binder#bc I can’t really order one to my house and while my uni does have a free binder program I feel bad using it bc i have the means to buy one#and I know that part of its function is to help people who may be able to afford but otherwise can’t acquire a binder#but idk. I feel bad.#and he was like ‘hey if you ever wanna get one then you can order it to my house’#like I’ve known this guy for all of two days. that’s so nice of him#and then we talked about the magnus archives. that’s not related it’s just. the next thing we talked about bc he is a very big tma fan#I tried to convince him to listen to protocol. I think I succeeded

technically the contract for my new internship (signed & submitted, but i haven't actually started yet or turned in my payment info or anything) states that i'm supposed to start on monday. so strictly speaking i haven't lost hours on the job due to being sick this week, i guess. but in communication it was agreed that i would start this past monday for a lighter possibly part-time week of mostly onboarding and getting-to-know-the-office type work. which obviously i've missed due to hacking my lungs out in my house for the past eight days...it's not the end of the world for me to start next week, my boss is totally fine with it and wants me to be okay before starting, and it's not like i will have missed anything terribly important like a performance or something. and missing one week's worth of a paycheck is not going to ruin me financially, thankfully. but still, y'know, disappointed to have lost a week of productivity, especially in such a lucrative (job experience wise not necessarily money wise. but the money isn't terrible either.) internship i'm super lucky to have gotten in the first place. very much looking forward to finally starting on monday and putting this shit behind me
#i am SO fucking done with being sick#just waiting for my stupid immune system to get with the program already :/#i am recovering. today was mostly okay. i think by the weekend i will be human again#(which is good bc. concert on sunday for youth orchestra i have to work. and i missed the rehearsal yesterday bc of Sick. wheee)#i really am extraordinarily lucky i think. in multiple regards#that my fellowship bosses and coworkers were supportive of me staying home when i got sick on the last day of the term#(therefore having to miss helping out with two of the biggest events of the year and force them to last minute cover for me)#and that my bosses/coworkers at my youth orchestra job are patient and accommodating with my being sick too#(right before the last concert of the season)#and that my new boss/coworkers for my internship were willing to give me a week to recover from unexpected illness#the same week i was supposed to start#also that i'm still getting/have gotten paid normally for the fellowship and the youth orchestra jobs despite missing a day each#and shaving a week off from my internship isn't going to strain me financially#truly i am lucky. and i'm grateful for that#for the ability to stay shut up in my house for ten days feeling physically and mentally miserable.#but not actually worrying about if i could afford it#i wanna talk about me

PSA: Utilities Charge Whatever They Want
So like, if you're paycheck to paycheck, if you're having financial difficulties, pay close fucking attention to your utility bills...
Because look at this bullshit.
Guess what happened in the 61 day billing period for 9/28/2023 statement date?
I moved into my fucking house. And started running my stove/oven and then eventually my furnace.
Guess what wasn't being used in every previous billing date shown here...?
NATURAL GAS. Like literally (in the actual definition of literally) none of it. Almost had my dad going to check if there was a leak in the lines at one point over the summer because nothing was being used. But nope, it's just the gas company charging whatever the fuck they feel like, whether you've used anything or not.
CONCLUSION: Pay attention to your bills because what they do is charge you based on an estimate of what your neighbors are using, not what you actually use. If you're having financial issues, call up your utility company and tell them that you will be calling in a reading every month (because they only send a person out to do an actual reading every other month, or now, every few months with ours, and just charge you whatever they want otherwise, and adjust it later when they do an actual reading... you can see in my bill they owed me a ton of money, because $11.17 is lower than the base charge for even having the gas turned on). And at least in NYS (or my county anyway), you have the right to demand they bill you on your actual usage by calling in a reading yourself because they don't want to pay someone to go out and do it monthly (but you can be damn sure they're going to charge you monthly).
*Also note: the double-billing 61 days on top of already being billed for 35 days of presumable the same time-period, and yet still, completely nonsensical invoice when you click on it. Their numbers come out of their ass.
#PSA#utilities should be regulated/price capped#people actually die where I live because there are no competitors and the gas and electric companies are both monopolies and charge whateve#people freeze to death & die of CO poisoning from space heaters & fires related to improper woodstove/chimney care & electric space heaters#all because they couldn't afford the energy bill#and the social programs meant to help run out during the very coldest time of the year if people even qualify for them in the first place#and the most ironic thing is that our region produces more hydro-electric power off public waterways than the grid can even handle#but a significant portion of our population can't afford their electric bill#and when all their home appliances and their vehicles are electric but one electric company has a monopoly on supply#it's going to be a fucking disaster#right now people are forced to choose which bills they can pay but when it's all one bill... they're going to be screwed#not that I'm against electric and clean energy i'm just for social equity and against giant corporations having a stranglehold on the poor

not to mention the fact that researching what the resources are in your region and how to access them takes so much time and energy that they're often completely inaccessible to people who are already spending all the time they have available on surviving
like. There ARE often resources and I encourage people to keep an eye out for them: if you luck into finding something useful then that can be lifesaving.
but a trillion individual unpredictable poorly funded self-help means-testing judgemental programs aren't going to solve the damn core problem of "people do not have enough money to live".

#as usual the most useful message here depends on the audience#if your poor and need help: keep an eye out for resources! even the tiniest thing can help sometimes#I've gotten cheques from the government that were 150$ and like. that's laughable but it did still buy me 2 weeks of groceries#if you're doing okay and wondering why poverty is a problem: resources are terrible and not available when people need them#the homelessness housing placement program in my city has a wait time of 4-6 years#virtually nobody is 'fully' homeless for 4-6 years: you hop in and out of bad roommate situations and hotels and your car and friend couche#we have a ridiculously large unhoused population not because a small number of people need homes#but because a large number of people can't afford to keep them#most unhoused people HAVE jobs! often several! rent is just too high and wages are too low#this is a place where the minimum wage is 'good' but it's still almost half of what the city calculates as what people need to live

That's what blows my mind. You can straight up show the math, the comparisons to other countries who are kicking our ass, and it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter bc the belief that we can't possibly do any better (while simultaneously being awesome af, the best country, everyone is saying it) isn't based on evidence. It's blind faith and fear.

#medicare for all#you could literally take half my check in taxes and use it to pay for healthcare and i would be spending less and getting more#ppl will pay hundreds a month for coverage and then put off care bc they cant use the coverage and then get upset at the idea of universal#having been in the er and tried to refuse morphine that i needed bc of the cost i can tell you we fucking suck#every time a person puts off preventative care that turns into a real issue that leads to disability or death#the precious uwu economy loses yrs to decades of productivity and the burden on social programs increases#but its better to bitch about the problem while fighting tooth and nail to keep anyone from using already-tested intervention to help#my hand is crushed im gonna lose my fingers but dont touch me bc i cant afford care but dont amortize the cost either omg#*dies for the dumbest most self-loathing kind of ideology ever*#im putting ''spouse; parent; dumbass'' in your obituary#hope you feel great about making your family choose between thousands in debt or letting the govt put you in a mass grave#then shoulder the burden of being without you in perpetuity#bet $1 theyre gonna need those disgusting shameful govt programs and it wont even be enough to survive bc you voted to gut them#sorry i have frustration
