Summary: Two piercing blue eyes glared at him through the darkness. They were brighter than a set of full-beam headlights, stronger than the flashing lights of Eden’s Twilight. Andrew couldn’t tear his gaze away. He couldn’t even breathe; every movement was being tracked and analysed.

“Andrew?” Renee almost slammed into his back, startled by his sudden frozen limbs.

Her flashlight illuminated the way forward, deep eye pools morphing into something else.

Something new.

Something not human.

Here’s my entry for this year’s AFTG Reverse Big Bang! @aftgreverse

Neil knew how to read every one of Andrew’s minuscule expressions. The way the slightest twitch in his brow denotated amusement, the tiny flare of his nostrils when he got angry, how he blinked ever faster when he was surprised. He’d seen Andrew’s manic, drug-induced smile and his single cold grin when Kevin had come back with his new tattoo, but Neil had never seen Andrew smile out of sheer happiness.

Neil wasn’t sure if most people would classify Andrew’s current expression as a smile. It wasn’t wide or toothy or overtly noticeable, but Andrew’s lips were turned ever-so-slightly up, his eyes crinkled, and Neil knew what this was. Neil’s heart stuttered, and he wished he had Andrew’s eidetic memory so that he could burn this image into his mind forever, write it across the folds of his brain with permanent ink, tattoo it on the back of his eyelids so that he could see it every time he closed his eyes. He drank it all in, trying to commit every tiny detail of Andrew’s face to memory.

AFTG Reverse Big Bang 2024!!!!

Y'all! The anticipation has been killing me! I finally get to share my new fic "A Cruel Twist of Fate" that I've been working on. A huge thank you to my artist @flightyfoxart for making some gorgeous art to go along with my fic but also being the beta for it which was beyond generous and helpful. When Andrew, Renee's right hand man, asks her to holiday with him while he visits his paramour in a neighbouring (rival) kingdom, Renee is only too happy to go along. When that holiday turns into her scheming her way into a royal competition to win the hand of Princess Allison, well, that she's less happy about, but needs must. And one of her co-competitors, a rough street fighter with a smile to die for, is interesting enough that Renee doesn't feel like losing quite so soon.

If she can balance falling in love while trying her best to arrange a Walkeran-Reynoldian marriage and end a decade old feud involving a horse and a dinner plate, well, no one said Renee couldn't multitask.
