Shadowstruck Character Notes: The Lynwood Family

(Note that everything is subject to change)

Jefferson Lynwood: Clara's father. The most vocal and vehement anti-shade senator in the country. Undersized, auburn hair, orange heartlight. Constantly moving, usually talking over everyone. Came from a respected, but not terribly wealthy family. Had to scrape to get into university, where he did well, but got a bit too caught up in academic sociopolitical theories at the time, which led to debates, which led to taking up politics. Has been a powerful voice in government for at least two decades.

Elizabeth Lynwood: Clara's mother. Comes from a well-to-do merchant family, but didn't get much beyond the very basics of a female education. Very sociable person, was the belle of society in her younger years. Had at least six men vying for her hand, but Lynwood's passion and ambition captivated her. Dark hair, yellow heartlight, slightly taller than her husband. Made the ideal political wife--a very good hostess who knew how to keep people mingling without overpowering the room herself. Had to give it all up when she had Clara--blamed it on her health. Is a charming and witty correspondent and keeps in touch with the world by being a prolific letter-writer, though even this dropped off as illness and isolation made her more fretful about Clara.

Miles Lynwood: Clara's eldest brother. Looks like a more elegant version of his father, with his mother's hair and a blue heartlight from somewhere way back in the family tree. The world sees him as his father's heir, and he's dedicated his life to filling that role. Went straight into politics as early as he could, working as a secretary and later a campaign manager for his father. Is much more refined and rather more entitled than his father is. Engaged to Delia, a gorgeous fluffy-headed bauble from an extremely wealthy, prominent family. (She totally drank the anti-shade Kool-Aid, but she has a naturally kind heart that makes it impossible for her, in practice, to treat shades as monsters.)

Samson Lynwood: Clara's middle brother. Hair redder than his father's, and is more energetic and angry than his older brother. Married to Sarah, a girl who's more handsome than pretty, and is almost more into politics than he is--she's 1000% invested in his career and is pushing for him to run for a seat in the lower house. (They have no children, but Sarah may once have given birth to a shade. They killed it immediately and told no one. I'm not even sure Samson knows.)

Phineas Lynwood: Clara's youngest brother. Very red hair, orange heartlight. Tall and slender like their mother. Is a puppy dog bundle of sunshine and energy. Recently finished law school and is just beginning work as a lawyer. May have a crush on the sister of a friend. Very fond of Clara and frequently comes to visit her.

Clara Lynwood: Clara herself! Undersized, with dark hair that is kept very short, and a pale yellow heartlight. Very practical, analytic mind. Very observant. Usually weak and tired. As a young child, she adored her mother, but as she grows up, she's come to see her mother as unintelligent, and has come to resent her overprotectiveness. Idolizes her father and brothers. Has an interest in science and mystery novels, which she shares with Phineas.

Evil Peppino

i saw a post not too long ago about someone wishing evil peppino had more character and more stuff on his backstory (as well as someone saying that they wish they dove more into his anxiety like ME TOO!!) and i thought it could be a great opportunity for me to show everyone what i personally see him as in terms of character and as well as making him a standalone character.

i’d like to give a heads up that this is pretty much all headcanon. you can see and make him however you want. this is just how i personally see him. everything i have currently is not solidified and is subject to change for whatever reason it may be.

doppelgänger

the definition of a doppelgänger is a person who looks almost exactly like another, but who is not related to them. Someone who looks too much like you, but isn't a twin

Mcpigs use of this word already tells us that this is a completely separate person. this isn’t THE peppino we know. he could have a separate identity all the while he just LOOKS like peppino. he’s just called evil peppino bc he “looks like peppino but evil”.

what i’ve done to give him an identity of his own is to have it somehow be standalone while at least connecting back to peppino in some way. starting off with his name. i took the first two letters of Evil Peppino and made it into a name that would fit. as well as giving him a new last name that isn’t Spaghetti but at least sounding like it (giving it the possibility to mix up peppinos and evil peppinos last names due to confusion).

renaming him as:

Apperence

appearance was something i also took on. i started with facial features. while he is a doppelgänger, i didn’t want to give him too many distinct features as to erase the fact that he’s supposed to look a lot like peppino. how do you stand out while looking exactly like someone else? i gave him the smallest changes like giving him a mole right next to the left corner of his mouth, giving him deeper eyebags/dark circles around his eyes, his large eye and lip scar that’s presented on the right side of his face, as well giving him a bit more hair compared to peppino (still bald but less in comparison). as of right now i’m bouncing ideas off of how he got that scar (wether during a fight or self inflicted). but it’s a story i’d like to present in a comic i’ll soon produce for everyone to see once i’m certain on which one i’d like to do.

his outfit (while i do have a redesigned ver. but also like to keep him in his red bowtie fit) i gave a backstory to that as well. it was the only “formal” outfit he owned verses everything else he had while being in extreme debt (more on that later)

Personality

as a lover of mob movies and learning how mafias actually work. i try very hard to keep things as realistic as possible. a lot of people tend to mix mafia tropes with outlaw/“bonnie and clyde” tropes. so evil peppino is not going to be your partner in crime “we rule the streets” type of person unless he wants to be at risk of being immediately caught by police. a lot of people have given him the mob boss title which is the highest rank amongst italian mafias. so i think he’d have to have some sort of self awareness for a man in his position. never lets anyone overstep him nor lets anyone boss him around. hot tempered is another trait i see him with. i remember seeing a post with evil peppino saying he’s “70% anger and 30% anxiety” which i think explains it perfectly. and since he’s a boss, he has to have some sort of threatening energy in order to be in such a position to keep everyone in line. other than being constantly angry or on the verge of getting angry, i’d say he has a hard time with his emotions and doesn’t let anyone else in on how he really feels on stuff. since being in his position, he’s always had to keep a stoic mask on or else everything could crumble based on one look. that’s where the anxiety part comes in. people often focus more on his aggression than what’s eating him up on the inside. (again working on a comic based on this!! so more on that later)

i base evil peppino off of a lot of characters i’ve seen in mob movies/shows. but if i had to choose a few, the characters that give me the most inspiration are:

- tony soprano (the sopranos)

-tommy devito (good fellas)

-tony montana (scarface)

-sylus (love and deepspace)

Backstory

this quote i think perfectly sets what is different between peppino and evil peppino. i used this quote as a guide to how i wanted to shape his backstory. as well as snipping a few scenes from movies and stitching evil peppino there instead. in the beginning he lost his parents due to them being killed by the mob in front of him (the godfather II) trying to live a better life he went to join the army. he hit an all time low attempting to open his own restaurant to bounce back. only to be drowned in debt and late payments. being sick and tired of this pit of despair, he took things into his own hands (well, hand) and then boom: mob boss (i’m withholding a lot of info here since i’m trying not to spoil what i’m currently making behind the scenes regarding his backstory).

and that’s what i have for evil peppino (so far!) again everything is still in the air and subject to change depending on how i want his story to go. i hope it was comprehensive enough LOL. if there is anyone out there that would like to use this as a reference for any stories for evil peppino i grant them permission! (as long as i get credits!).

once again everyone is entitled to their own version and vision of evil peppino and this isn’t me trying to make my version EVERYONES version. but if there’s anyone thatd like to use this as a reference they’re welcomed to. thank you for reading!!

APPEARANCE

Amphitrite is a tall (177.8 cm) and lean woman with tanned skin with freckles across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Her hair reaches her lower back and is wavy, dark, almost black, but shines a green in the sunlight. Her eyes are downturned in the outer corners, giving her a calm and gentle appearance. Her eyes are light green. When hit at certain angles with light, you will see traces of fish scales on her skin.

As a dancer, Amphitrite prefers light and flowing clothing that decorates herself and her movements. But her torso has a blue sleeveless, tight-fitting midrift with pink shell-like cups for her breasts and a chiffon section that connects the chest to the gold choker around her neck. Her lower body is covered by white fabrics all connected to a gold belt with the middle fabric adorned with wave-like patterns/spikes. Her biceps and knees are wrapped in blue cloths with the arms protruding a fin-like extension. True to her nature and position, Amphitrite is adorned with treasures of the ocean, pearls, fishnet accessories, and a small tiara made of crab claws. She has a braclet on her right wrist similar to the spiked golden rings on Poseidon's arms.

PERSONALITY

Amphitrite rarely leaves the Mediterranean in fear of Poseidon. But when described by others, she is called beautiful, graceful, and friendly. In comparison to Poseidon's arrogant and cold-hearted personality, many aquatic creatures describe Amphitrite as serene, regal, and reasonable. She often settles and handles civil disputes that Poseidon deems "ridiculous" or "trivial." Due to her initial aversion to marriage or dating in general, Amphitrite is naive in settling romantic disputes.

She values and loves her sisters dearly.

In the events of Ragnarok, Amphitrite is a god who values and loves humanity despite their flaws and treatment of the oceans or its inhabitants. Although she voiced her opinion to Poseidon, asking him not to participate in the tournament, her efforts were meek. After his death at the hands of Sasaki Kojiro, Amphitrite could only say that she was "a little sad" and that "she would miss him," indicating that she had some fondness of Poseidon after all their time together.

BIO

Amphitrite is a Nereid or a sea nymph who initially refused to marry Poseidon and constantly hid from him. Eventually, after being snitched on by a dolphin where her hiding place was, she agreed to marry him. Aside from her position as Queen of the Seas, Amphitrite runs and owns a dance studio and seaside spa with her sisters, where she also teaches dance classes.

• Control of marine life: Amphitrite has a limited amount of control over sea animals compared to Poseidon.

• Glamor: Although never leaving Greece or the Mediterranean area, Amphitrite will cover her scales with a glamor.

• Surfing: Amphitrite has participated in surfing competitions and won 1st place gold medals.

• Amphitrite enjoys shopping, sunbathing, opera, and spending time with her sisters.

• Amphitrite is actually very fond of Adamas based on stories about him as a child that Hades would tell her and wanted to meet him.

• Her favorite foods are cold items like ice cream, gelato, sorbet, rizogalo, or just water over ice. But she dislikes shark fin soup, lemons and lemonopita, and feta cheese.

• Ideally, Amphitrite enjoys her beauty sleep and will require ten hours, but if she is needed, she will settle for nine hours.

• She also has her own section of Poseidon's palace, specifically with walk-in closets as she is sensitive to temperature changes and needs a variety of clothes, her own personal bath house to share with her sisters, a kitchen, personal tailor for her dance attire, and an observatory to watch her dolphins.

• If Amphitrite were to live anywhere else in the world, she would like to move to "any place with mild and temperate waters."

• If Amphitrite had a Pokémon team, it would consist of Corsola, Goldeen, Manaphy, Milotic, Azumarill, and Palafin.

The only people who genuinely care about IQ and die on the hill of defending it are people who use it as a weapon to justify why certain groups of people are inferior and therefore don't deserve rights, autonomy or respect because "they have lower IQ on average". If that doesn't tell you that IQ is a completely fake social construct that pretty much only exists to rationalize violence and abuse towards people labelled as "low IQ" (which always conveniently happen to be minorities, hmm wonder why) while propping up other groups of people as better or superior (which always conveniently happen to be people in power, hmm wonder why) because "they have higher IQ on average", then I don't know what will. Even if IQ as a concept wasn't made with the sole intention of oppressing minorities in mind, it damn well is only kept around today for that reason and that reason alone

“I don’t believe those are serpentine, Kai.” Zane corrected. “They appear to possess shells resembling those of turtles.”

The two smaller figures, turtles apparently, dodged and weaved around the large pig. They were both very fast and nimble, able to outmaneuver the larger creature with little trouble. There were flashes of orange and blue light from what looked to be some powers of the turtles. The pig lunged an arm at the smaller of the turtles, and it extended into a mass of tentacles.

“Woah! What was that?!” Jay shrieked

“Look at them move!” Lloyd said, sounding impressed. “They fight just like ninja!”

 “Huh, a giant tentacled pig fighting a couple of ninja turtles. Never thought I’d see that.” Cole remarked.

hi!! sorry it took me so long to reply, lot happening and i had to think on this :) but here we go! once again, in no particular order:

Avatar: The Last Airbender (TV Show) atla is something that has been in my life for SOOO many years. it is a huge part of me, and a big part of my relationship with my sisters, and just something that brings me so much comfort. i have rewatched this show more times than i could ever try and count. i know too much about it. my sisters and i will often start quoting along with the show without missing a beat or a line because we all just know it that well. also it's just such a fucking FANTASTIC show and is the literal blueprint to me. perfection.

Captive Prince (Book Trilogy) has also been in my life for probably much longer than it should have been lmao i definitely was too young the first time i read this series. but it is so wonderfully crafted and amazing. every time i reread it i fall a little more in love with it. i think, if i could choose only one thing to be able to experience for the first time again, it would be capri.

All For the Game (Book Series) the other book series that i will never be capable of getting over. it captivated me in a different way from capri but just as strong. it shaped my feelings on consent as a constant and i know i would be a much different person if it hadn't been for these books.

Yuri!!! On Ice (Anime) this show saved my life. quite literally. if i hadn't fallen into it when i did, i wouldn't be here. and i will always be grateful for that. it's such a beautiful commentary on life and love and the music is truly something else. the only thing to ever get me to listen to and feel purely instrumental songs. i need to rewatch it soon.

Young Royals (TV Show) i stumbled into yr on accident and i wouldn't change it for the world. i have met so so so many absolutely amazing people because of this show. it is so beautifully crafted, with so much thought and intent behind every frame, every line, every movement. i have never seen a show like it before and i don't know if i ever will again.

Banana Fish (Anime) my comfort show <3 why? don't know, it makes me cry even when i know what's coming, even when i have seen it so many times. in my worst moments, it is the first thing i think to put on. i can still lose myself in the story and throw myself headfirst into the pain and love and sorrow and care.

Haikyuu!! (Anime) i always feel like i was so late coming to this party. but i don't mind. hq brings me so much joy and is one of the only things on this list that just never brings that same level of angst. it is pure serotonin in every step and i am so happy every time i watch it. really, it should be the one that's my comfort show. and it is, sometimes.

Bungo Stray Dogs (Anime) i just recently fell hard into this. i had seen the first seasons years ago, but rewatching it this year brought a whole other level of love for it. i feel like i understand it a lot better now than i did when i was younger. each character and arc touches me in a new way and i think every lesson that it teaches really hits me in a different way coming from here as opposed to anywhere else i had heard it.

Good Omens (TV Show) (also the Book but less so) another one that is just so masterfully created. every detail has been considered and planned. even now, we know that there are things set up for the future and i cannot wait to see them fall into place. the characters have so many aspects and facets and every time i look back at them, there is something new to take away.

Prince of Egypt (Movie) maybe on odd choice, but it's another comfort of mine, something that makes me feel close to one of my sisters, and just a truly stunning piece of art. i don't know how to explain why it's on this list any more than that.
