Mr. House’s personality makes a lot of sense when you learn his Charisma STAT is a 1. His Intelligence is a 5. While his Perception, Endurance and Luck are all 10.
Especially when you consider what Dr. Usanagi says when you go to get a luck implant.
"If I implant the Probability Calculator in your frontal lobe, you'll be able to calculate odds a little better. It's not quite the same as making you luckier, but you'll be able to nudge things your way more often."

How Can Small Businesses Compete Online with Bigger Brands?
Tumblr media
Small businesses can succeed online by finding their niche. Bigger brands target broad audiences, but small businesses can focus on specific needs. For example, a local bakery could specialize in gluten-free desserts. By offering unique products or services, you attract customers who value personalization. Your niche gives you a distinct advantage.
Providing exceptional customer service sets small businesses apart. Unlike bigger brands, small businesses can build personal relationships with customers. Respond quickly to inquiries and comments on social media. For instance, a handmade jewelry shop can send handwritten thank-you notes with purchases. This level of care builds loyalty and encourages word-of-mouth referrals.
Using local SEO can help small businesses shine. Optimize your website for local searches. Include your city or neighborhood in keywords. For example, a plumber in Chicago can target "best plumber in Chicago" in blog posts and meta descriptions. Claim your Google Business Profile and keep it updated. Positive reviews from local customers also boost visibility.
Social media is a cost-effective way to compete. While big brands spend millions on ads, small businesses can use organic strategies. Share relatable and engaging content. For instance, a coffee shop can post pictures of latte art or host live Q&A sessions. Collaborate with local influencers who resonate with your target audience. Social media builds connections that bigger brands often lack.
Agility is another advantage for small businesses. Unlike bigger brands, small businesses can adapt quickly. Monitor trends and experiment with strategies. For example, if a holiday product gains attention, promote it heavily. Test different ads or email campaigns to see what works best. Adjusting quickly ensures your business stays relevant.
Competing with bigger brands takes effort, but it’s achievable. By focusing on your niche, delivering great service, and leveraging local marketing, you can stand out. Small businesses bring authenticity and connection that customers value. Embrace these strengths to succeed online.

Traditional Office vs Flexible Workspaces
The contrast between traditional offices and flexible workspaces emphasizes differentiating approaches to modern workplace design and functionality. A traditional office is characterized by fixed layouts and designated workspaces. Such structuring boosts a sense of stability and structure yet potentially limiting collaboration and adaptability. On the other hand, flexible workspaces prioritize agility and versatility while featuring open-plan layouts and shared workstations that can be easily reconfigured to suit changing needs.
As traditional offices offer a sense of permanence and privacy, flexible workspaces promote creativity, collaboration and cost-effectiveness in order to cater to the dynamic and evolving nature of modern work.
Ultimately, the choice between flexible workspaces vs traditional offices depends on organizational culture, work style preferences, and the specific needs of the workforce where both approaches offer unique benefits in enhancing productivity, innovation and employee satisfaction.

Sirens of Encounters in the Frontier.
In my setting, sirens are a kind of shark, descendants of a creature most similar to an epaulette shark, wich adapted to hunt fish and mollusks trapped during the low tide and eventually evolved to be fully lunged and mostly amphibian.
There are 3 species of sirens, all 6 limbed.
-The continental mernewt is native to the vast beaches and coral reefs of the southeastern coast of the continent. It's similar in bodyplan to a mudskipper and just as agile. They have jaws strong enough to open shellfish and don a venomous spur next to their tail fin, wich can kill small animals and cause pain, swelling and even necrosis of the limbs in larger animals like humans.
Male mernewts are known to "fence" each other as they are very territorial during mating season. This fights envolve leaps into the air, stabbing with their spurs, biting and their characteristic shriek.
These animals are very important in the culture of the warrior caste in the Sun Empire and represent masculine violence and war, sometimes positively (they are kept in artificial ponds ocasionally) or as a critique in poetry of the futility of war, since the mernewts are vulnerable to birds of prey or other predators while exhausted after a fight.
-The lesser siren is the most terrestrial of all sirens. Its native to the eastern and southern coast of the continent, the north of alwaysummer and the Twisted Islands.
These creatures feed mostly on fish stranded during low tides but many hunt seabirds by staying still between rocks in the shore until the perfect ocasion to leap and catch its prey with their clawed pectoral fins. They usually drag their prey to the water and drown it there. They are very capable of climbing rocks and can be quite fast in short bursts of speed.
They can get quite large and pose a significant danger to some cattle and humans.
-Sirens are native to the Twisted Islands and are the most aquatic of the three, even though they can still return to the sea if they get stranded.
They spend most of the day in underwater caves and are actually quite good at hunting in the sea floor, as they use their long arm like pectoral fins to move rocks and expose mollusks and other small prey. Still, their prey of choice are terrestrial animals. Sirens are indeed quite intelligent animals, though far from sapient, as they resemble the intelect of a marine crocodile, wich manifests in very specialiced hunting tactics.
They have learned to attract land animals close enough to the water by leaving small pieces of fish in the shore as bait for seabirds or imitating animal cries for help to attract unsuspecting predators or worried members of the imitated species. When they get the chance, they rapidly extend their arm-like fins and drag the animal to the sea.
Some sirens have specialiced in hunting humans, specially those on boats, wich is a big problem given how common reed boats and low canoes are for transport in the twisted islands, often used to also transport cattle.
Sirens can easily climb on top of these boats or colaborate between many to topple a ship.
They don't hunt in organized groups, rather they all hunt individually but at the same time, if that makes sense, and later fight for the prey.
These human eating sirens have learn to stand on small islands or unlit shores ar night and waive their arm-like fins while screaming (they can imitate a great variety of sounds) to lure humans closer to them.
The Iliryi people (those native of the twisted islands) have developed many methods to sail safely, such as covering their boats with down facing spikes, tying themselves to the boat or just carrying harpoons and being ready for action. Still, these tactics are not very efective when overwhelmed by a large group of sirens.
The government of the twisted islands hires whalers and fishermen from all across the eastern sea during their low season to work as sirens hunters, wich escort other ships and keep the siren population at bay. This is a high risk high reward job for these fishermen.

While it's on the mind, here's my wings of fire designs too. Not as much of a brainrot but still fun. Bad take or am I cooking with some of them? Let me know in the comments. Here's some (too many) notes:
I really liked the original designs when I first read these books, but I wanted to try my hand at uhh changing them a little. Mainly making them more distinct from each other (even if this irreversibly breaks canon XD)
-Sandwings live in a mixed savannah and desert habitat and have bodies adapted for resource scarcity, effective hunting, and heat dispersion. They have large ears to help cool off and listen for stuff. They can fly, but pretty weakly in comparison to some others, mainly using flight to navigate their large territories , get onto cliffs, and scan for prey. They typically climb up somewhere and then jump off. They are built like felines, and use a solo stalk and rushdown hunting approach coupled with a sting instakill. They live in family groups, with a ‘queen’ title going to the alpha female 💪 and everyone else hunting and living together. They are immune to their own venom, which acts very similarly to a scorpion’s but in a massive dose, causing numbness, breathing difficulties seizures, and eventually death. It takes time for them to make more once they’ve expended the dose, so they rarely use it outside of hunting or life/death situations (though the prospect of being stung is very scary to everyone else, and they will instinctively raise their tail when startled or threatened)
-Skywings live in high mountainous and forested areas, with some living in the lowlands. They are powerful flyers and very acrobatic due to their tail, though this comes at the expense of their agility on land and the strength of their non wing arms. They have long legs with powerful talons for grasping prey midair or snatching them from off the ground. They hunt and live alone unless they have a partner. Communities are made up of a loose group of related individuals who rarely collect in one place at once(queendom structure are a more recent and ‘unnatural’ thing for them, but very useful for organizing military efforts and empire building). They stay aloft for long periods of time and usually only land on their cliff homes. They need a sprint or a takeoff point to get flying, though. Unlike every other tribe, they have a noticeable difference between male and female (being a nose horn and red face for males.) males are prized for these features, and having a pretty husband is seen as an attractive trait for a queen.
-Seawings live along the coast. They normally only venture out of the water for trade and other resources, since they can get everything else they need underwater. Their large neck houses gills protected by thick pads that will close when on land, while their lungs are in their mid chest. Primarily adapted to swimming, they have very strong tails and webbed fingers and toes. They will also use their wings to steer and paddle, as well as manipulate things their other arms can’t reach. They will hunt in packs, corralling fish and other animals into a kill zone. They are very clumsy on land and in the air with their short limbs and weak wings. Their bioluminescent spots can be flashed for communication, and compared to the other tribes they have pretty poor vocal ability (due to the gills in their neck getting in the way) and will supplement with other spot/sign signals. Every individual has unique spots, though their glowing ones come in consistent numbers, sizes, patterns, and places on their body so they can use them for common language across their group. However, Different groups from different parts of the ocean have different numbers of spots in different areas, making cross communication via only spots difficult. Their whiskers help navigate in close or dark areas, and are seen as a status symbol.
-Mudwings live in warmer areas, specifically marshes and other wetlands (though sometimes in some forested areas too). Their thick armor helps protect them from other mudwings/competition, while also acting as an insulator that allows them to easily venture a wider range than other tribes from warm climates. Physically, they are the strongest and bulkiest. They typically use the element of surprise and their overwhelming size and strength to take down large prey. However, unlike other tribes they tend to eat more plants too due to their large size (all of them are technically omnivores, but meat makes up the dominant part of their diet because of their energy needs and their ancestors). They are also the poorest flyers out of the bunch, having sacrificed that for size and strength, though they can do short bursts similar to a chicken to get to hard to reach areas or to surprise attack prey faster than them, they’re similar to hippos and are adapted to living in the water too, using powerful webbed arms to propel themselves and dig through the mud, and their large lung capacity to stay submerged and hidden for long periods. Their nostrils, ears, and eyes are located near the top of their head, which also gives more room for Tusks. They use these to root around occasionally defend themselves. Tusk maintenance and appearance is very important to them. They live in large groups of families in the same area and have more communal social standards than other tribes.
-Rainwings live in tropical areas and have a very small habitat range. This has caused them to look and act very different than most tribes, leading to poor perception of them. They use their long claws, strong grasping fingers, and prehensile tail to climb around, and are pretty much arboreal. They have wings meant for quick takeoffs and flight in dense areas, and are pretty agile and swift. They and aren’t that great at sustained flight or dealing with high altitudes and winds though . Their frill is delicate and used for emoting (probably originally for mating purposes) Their skin is packed with chromatophores that they can use to match their surroundings, and they have loose ridges in their skin that they can raise to enhance the effect. Their skin is constantly changing color due to their brain activity, though they have set patterns/colors for emotions and communication. They can also choose to focus on organizing their skin patterns to get coordinated colors and patterns, since normally it’s pretty disorganized. They eat a lot more plants due to their environment and due to social standards, but arent herbivores. They have the ability to spit acid out of hollow retractable fangs, and use precise shots of this coupled with their camouflage ability to get prey. They can also spray it at higher velocities for defense and offense, though this expends their supply much quicker. They don’t recognize a queen in their communities and are fairly disorganized into different cooperative groups.
-Nightwings are the result of a group that split off onto an island, though the volcanic activity on their original island escalated to the point where they had to emigrate. They are great fliers, using their wings and tail extensions to travel great distances to track prey and ambush from above. When on land, they aren’t particularly fast or strong, and instead are built for persistence. Their hunting tactic involves getting an initial bite onto prey, then waiting for it to succumb to infection. Their spines, horns, muscles, and talons are mainly for defending their kill from other Nightwings rather than hunting it in the first place. As a result of this competition, they aren’t naturally very social like other tribes, They are mainly nocturnal.
-Icewings live in the colder tundras and snowy forest environments. They are pack hunters, using their speed and persistence to take down prey, similar to wolves. Their long overlapping scales help them trap heat and survive in the cold, and while the guy i drew here is pretty skinny they also store fat much more readily than other tribes. Their bowed wings are mainly used to swoop in in prey, and like falcons they often take steep dives to grapple it. Their antlers only grow in at a certain time in the year, but royalty will wear embellished artificial ones in the meantime.

In the deep sea, we know all about romance. ❤️
Tomopterids are pelagic polychaetes (segmented worms) with paddle-like parapodia that propel them through the water column. They are relatively common in the midnight zone and can live down to about 2,500 meters (8,200 feet). Many Tomopterids are only a centimeter or two long, but some can also get to be quite large—up to 30 centimeters (12 inches!). They are voracious predators, using their speed and agility to capture and consume a variety of midwater organisms. Females of this group produce a pheromone that attracts males and signals them to shed sperm into the water. This, in turn, signals the female to release her eggs—a behavior called swarming.

Tumblr media
Your heart always faltered whenever it took more than two rings for Juntae to pick up. For someone as organized and smart as him, it never meant that he simply forgot to charge his phone. Something must have happened. Whenever he didn’t pick up, you knew he wasn’t okay.
You worried about him more than he would’ve liked you to. It wasn’t that you didn’t trust him or his friends, or thought he couldn’t handle himself or that he was weak. He was stronger mentally than you could ever be and his quick thinking was admirable by anyone. But physically, he was always bested. He didn’t have Humin’s strong punch or Hyuntak’s agility. When combat arose and the options were fight or flight, his body picked freeze.
Today was the day Eunjang would fight against the Union. There was fear, anticipation, and something akin to excitement in the students’ minds. They had the chance to end it once and for all. It was now or never.
You had Juntae’s location on your phone. When he didn’t pick up the first time, you tried texting him. When he didn’t pick up the second time, alarms were ringing louder than ever in your head. He wasn’t with the rest of the boys. Why the hell was his location showing the bowling alley?
You swore you had never ran faster in your life. Your legs carried you on adrenaline while your shaky hands dialled your boyfriend’s number every 5 minutes. You remembered weeks ago how Juntae had made you swear to not get involved, how Hyuntak warned you that the risk was too high for you to get entangled in it. You were breaking those promises now, feet aching in your sneakers as you ran faster, the alley soon coming into view.
You’d have to ask for Juntae’s forgiveness later.
The building was quiet when you walked in. Bowling balls were scattered on the floor and one of the Union guys was knocked unconscious in the middle of the room. Your eyes locked onto Juntae’s tattered shoes sticking out from behind a shelf of balls. You heard his shaky breaths, his soft grunts of pain. You saw the uncomfortable shift of his legs, trembling and weak. You didn’t take anymore time to rush to his side.
“Juntae, are you okay? What happened?” Your voice quivered. Hands instinctively reaching to hold him, your touch gentle and held back. It was different. You would always run into his arms, throwing yourself onto him with full force, knowing he would catch you and hold you tightly, laughter escaping both your lips. But right now, you were scared to hurt him, scared to cause anymore stress or concern. You were scared that he wouldn’t want you there.
“Why are you here? You should leave. You’ll get hurt.” He sounded exhausted— murmurs coming out amidst pained gasps. Tears filled both your eyes, yours escaping to slowly fall down your cheek while Juntae held his back.
“I’m not leaving. Not without you,” you said firmly.
Juntae knew you better than to think you would change your mind, even if he begged you. He gave a solemn nod, accepting it without further discussion. You let out a sigh of relief.
“How badly are you hurt? Can you stand on your own?”
He shook his head, “Everything hurts. I can’t walk well.”
“Shit, it’s gonna be alright. We’re gonna get out of here, okay?”
He could only muster a few nods, holding back laboured breaths and stinging gasps. You got him to his feet, managing to hold him steady although he couldn’t support himself. You gripped his waist tightly and guided his feet up the stairs. You caught every stumble, hushed every whimper, held him tight as if he would disappear if you didn’t. You reached the bus stop on the sidewalk after a few stumbling minutes, and gently lowered him onto the bench. He wouldn’t let go of your hand.
“W-we should meet the others. It’s not too far from here,” he gasped, still clutching his side.
“Not until you can walk on your own,” you uttered. “Hold still.”
You slipped his jacket off his left arm and lifted his shirt over the area he held in pain. The entire side of his stomach trailing up to his ribs was covered in fresh bruises, his skin agitated and reddish purple. You winced at the sight, imagining how violently he must’ve been thrown across the room to form them.
“Wait here. I’ll be right back,” you said, meeting his tearful eyes. Juntae watched you rush down the street, disappearing into the convenience store. Time seemed to slow as soon as you were out of his sight. He was alone with his thoughts to picture all the possibilities that scared him so much. Would the plan really work?
You came back with a cup of ice in your hands and a box of pain medication— the same kind Juntae had insisted you take the last time you had a cold. He was worried sick about you back then, even though you swore you were fine. It was your turn to do the same for him.
“Here, take this. It’s good to ice bruises as quickly as possible.”
“Thank you,” he whispered. You pressed the ice to his side as he swallowed one of the pills. His head fell to your shoulder and you spoke in soft murmurs.
“Do you think they’ll really beat Baekjin and the Union?”
“We have to. It’s our only chance,” he said softly. “Baku will do it. I know he will.”
“I’m proud of you, Juntae. You’re stronger than you think.”
“Really?”
You looked down, noticing the small smile on his face, one that you simply adored.
“Really. I’ve seen it for weeks now,” you whispered, pressing your lips to his forehead. “It’ll all be over soon.”

Their Children, Their Treasures
How the men of Amphoreus spend time with their children.
Tumblr media
Mydei is not the type to just sit and tell children how the world works. He shows them. He trains with his eldest son, but he doesn’t turn it into a tough workout — more of a game, testing his agility and reaction. He can throw him a wooden sword, forcing him to catch it, and then laughs when he proudly declares that he has become stronger. He takes his time with his daughter. Instead of combat training, he teaches her observation: he shows her how to read facial expressions, discern lies, understand when a person says one thing and means another.
Sometimes, when the night is quiet and the palace is asleep, Mydei takes the children for a walk. His son walks alongside him, trying not to show that he is a little nervous about the mysterious atmosphere. His daughter sits on his shoulders, clinging to his hair with her tiny hands. They walk, talk about something insignificant, look at the stars. For the children, this is an adventure, for him, a rare moment when he can simply enjoy their presence.
He has small rituals that are dear only to them. Every morning when he is home, he always plays with his daughter, letting her sit on his lap while he drinks his pomegranate juice. She chatters, sometimes incoherently, but he listens, answering in short phrases, because it is important for her to be heard. He has a special tradition with his eldest son - they arrange small competitions, who can tie a belt faster, who will be the first to notice something unusual around. These are not competitions in strength, but simply a test of attentiveness and ingenuity.
If one of the servants or courtiers looks at his children too appraisingly, he silently gives a look that makes the blood run cold. After that, no one dares to say anything unnecessary to the children. If a son comes to him with a question that is difficult to ask out loud, he never ridicules him. He does not say "you are still small", but calmly explains, because he knows that if not him, then someone else will give an answer, and it is not a fact that it is the right one. If his daughter gets tangled in ribbons or can't fasten her dress, he silently helps. His rough fingers can undo intricate knots with no less dexterity than they can handle a weapon.
The son has almost gotten used to the fact that his father rarely talks about his feelings. But he notices how he always puts his hand in front of him if someone comes too close, how he discreetly straightens his cloak, how he puts food in front of him first. And his daughter... She is his little princess, and he doesn't even try to hide it. He picks her up in his arms without saying a word if he sees that she is tired. If she plays with his hair or jewelry, he simply allows it silently. When she reaches out to him to take her, he never refuses. Mydei does not say loud words. But his children know that there is no one who will protect them more.

Silence at home? Not in their family. When Anaxa has free time, he organizes intellectual discussions, where each of his daughters tries to prove her point. Usually this develops into a heated argument, and he, sitting with a cup of tea, calmly observes and only occasionally throws out provocative questions, forcing them to think even deeper.
"Theory without practice is meaningless," says Anaxa, and his daughters immediately find a reason to prove this in practice. "Scientific disasters" regularly occur in the house: self-igniting mixtures, strange bubbling solutions or a device that was supposed to make life easier, but almost destroyed the kitchen.
Anaxa comes up with logical riddles that his daughters must solve using reasoning. Sometimes he does this on purpose in everyday life: he hides things, leaves encrypted notes or deliberately draws false conclusions to see if they will notice the mistake. If the evening is quiet, he sits in a chair, his daughters on either side of him, each with her own book. The elder reads serious literature, the younger something more daring and provocative, and Anaxa just smirks, seeing how their reading tastes reflect their personalities.
Despite all their intellectual development, they remain a family. Sometimes Anaxa allows his daughters to braid his hair (even if he pretends that he is not interested), sometimes he himself makes things for them that seem completely unrelated to science - beautiful jewelry or unusual objects that carry a hidden meaning.
Anaxa rarely speaks openly about his feelings, but if his daughters face difficulties, he is always there. When they achieve success, he simply looks at them with a barely noticeable smile and says: "I had no doubt. After all, you are my daughters."

When his first son was a baby, Phainon still hoped that his child would be calm, obedient, and perhaps even gentle. He imagined reading to him, teaching him high ideals… But as soon as the baby learned to crawl, the house turned into an arena of chaos. And then came the second. And now Phainon has two little whirlwinds that run around, fight each other with toy swords, and turn everything upside down.
Phainon may be a hero, but when his two sons jump on him from the couch with battle cries, he sincerely wonders if it is his destiny they are trying to overthrow. They use him as a living arena, clinging to his arms, tugging at his hair, and demanding that he play battles with them, which he invariably loses.
Phainon still reads them ancient Amphoraean legends, hoping to instill nobility and greatness of spirit in them. He sits with a book, telling stories about great heroes... and his sons listen with bated breath. And then one of them suddenly asks:
"Dad, if you were an evil god, would you lose to us?" Phainon exhales heavily.
Although he would never admit it, Phainon loves to tidy up their tousled hair. When they are little, he gently combs it, sometimes combing it with his hands. Later, when they grow up, he continues to do it mechanically, and when his sons begin to complain, he only smiles with a note of melancholy that they are growing up too fast.
When his sons begin training, he becomes a strict mentor. He teaches them to take blows, to think strategically, not to waste their strength. But if one of them hurts another or behaves dishonestly, his gaze becomes icy, telling them that they must be strong not for the sake of destruction, but for the sake of protection. And they remember this for the rest of their lives.
Despite the chaos, he loves it when his sons, tired of playing, crawl to him and fall asleep next to him. At such moments, he carefully covers them with a blanket, looks at their faces and says with a slight smile, almost in a whisper: “But I wanted a daughter…” But there is no disappointment in his voice – only warm affection. Phainon is a father who wanted a little princess, but in the end got two little whirlwinds who make his life chaotic, but happy. And even if they turn the house upside down, he would never trade them for anything in this world.
