ANYWAYS! So for the Captain Barnacles/Crab comic. I don't plan on finishing it. And the reason why I abandoned it was because the way I had written the comic had everyone acting out of character. The blood was over the top, it was too dramatic,, ugh.. I got tired of my own comic half way through making it. <XD

The comic was gonna end with the rest of the crew showing up, they take the Captain to the octopod, and Peso cries because "I was too scared to help the Captain.." Which is just stupid <XD

Peso would not cower in fear in this situation. Even if Captain Barnacles turned like that and became very scary. Peso has had an extended history of getting it together and braving through anything to help creatures in need. And if his own Captain/friend was hurt? Nothing would stop him. Nothing could scare him away.

In the perfect re-write, Peso would ace this situation. He would approach Barnacles perfectly and calm him down. He would patch the wound, guide him to the gups. Guide him into the octopod and into the med-bay. Expertly deal with the wound and clean up all the blood.

Sure maybe after everything was done he would cry a bit out of the stress of it all. But originally everyone else did everything for Peso because he was too scared to help the scARy CapTAIN OOOO!!

Its hard to say, I didn't ever like.. try to replicate an art style and draw something unrelated. Like- if I was drawing in the gravity falls art style, I was drawing gravity falls stuff. I wouldn't draw in the gravity falls art style and draw random ocs and stuff. If that makes sense-

Taking the quilt off does nothing, the quilt doesn't bring them to life either! Remember that Bibi could talk when he was a still picture and was brought to "life" without the use of a quilt or even any glowy effects. Also Jangles had a quilt as a drawing and was "brought to life" using a pen!

The point I'm getting at is, Pen? Quilt? It doesn't matter. None of these methods actually give the characters life. I do. All these fancy ways I seem to bring them to life are just for show <XD

I cry every time I watch it. It's beautifully animated and emotional and ahhh I love it.

I love the art style. I think it's a beautiful example of Japanese animation that is decently well known yet seems to always be somewhat forgotten? It follows a deaf protagonist and if I recall correctly they actually worked with people to make sure her signing was correct - or as best as it could be in animated form. It handles depression in a way that really hit home for me and I relate to so strongly and it's about trauma and healing and growing and forgiveness. It's beautiful I love it so much. Huuge cw for suicide attempt and bullying, depression, but its a beautiful film.

OK so on the palm of our hands thing i have a few things to say

first of all i love how Ash knew that he knew what to continue with bc they are just so in sync with each other ofc <3 and OFC they had to put that scene in for the last episode, like when it was in the Mewto episode for the first time, i was honestly screaming of how cute it was LIKE THE FACT ASH MADE THE LITTLE ADD ON OF 'OUR HANDS' IN THE FIRST TIME THEY DID IT JUST MAKES IT EVEN MORE CUTER EJHSKF

but anyways as much as i love this scene because of how 'the future is in the palm of our hands', can be interpreted in some otherways, 👀 I also couldnt help but thing about something else.

after/before the Project mew stuff actually started/finished (pretty sure it was after,) we see a scene of Goh, Gary and Horace using the 'palm of our hands' phrase together, and yeah its rlly cute lmao, but i was kind of hoping it was something unique for Ash and Goh, not trying to be a fusspot, but i think the scene now feels slightly less special to me now Goh used it with some other people?

I mean sure, ash and goh were still the first people who did it, and it IS their kind of thing lmao, like they created it. Even tho it was just an initial thought, it is still really sweet that goh used it with others don't get me wrong <3

so the thing is, i'm like. wildly hyperfixating on until dawn right now and i decided to platinum the game, which involves replaying it at least 3 times (in my case it took 6 because i'm bad at gaming lol) so i had a ton of time to think about this AU while i was watching the same unskippable cut-scenes over and over. the first thing i thought was "haha i also have a character named matt who's kind of a pushover" and the rest is history :')

characters

Josh = Finn: i knew i couldn't have an actual josh in this case because none of my characters would do exactly what he did, but the core elements of josh are already in finn: he was wronged by the people in his life he trusted the most, he lashes out when he feels strong emotions, and he's really just scared and lonely underneath it all. so then i thought, what if josh's fake ghost antics were an actual ghost? and who's better for that role than finn? however, his parents are definitely not rich, so the lodge couldn't belong to his family. that's why i decided to make it a larger hunting lodge where all kinds of hunters would come together. also did you notice how i didn't even tell you who killed finn in the AU because no spoilers :P

Sam = Asa: i actually don't care for sam tbh but she's the obvious leader of the group, the level-headed one, the angel on your shoulder. asa can be impulsive at times (especially in regards to finn) but he's still the person i would choose to be at my my side during a crisis. his parents are the only ones with money, so it makes sense for danny to purchase the lodge without visiting it himself. sam is also compassionate to josh and has somewhat of a romantic thing going on with him if you read it that way, so that fits for asa and finn.

Jessica = Elaine: jess (best girl!!!!!) is the first person with the possibility of dying, and her death/injury is the catalyst for multiple characters future decisions, so her equivalent had to be someone who's also strongly connected to numerous others. so elaine is perfect! she's also the only person of my group who i can imagine storming outside in the snow in her underwear to give her friends a piece of her mind fjskjds but she also has enough strength of character & resilience to make it realistic that she might survive so many injuries.

Mike = Austin: this felt like a no-brainer because austin already has knowledge about guns, he's fearless, and if elaine got hurt, austin would go fucking ballistic. he stops caring about his own survival and starts making brash, unwise choices. but that's where the similarities end, because i actually really hate mike and i feel bad comparing austin to him lmao. say what you will about austin, but he would never try to talk his way into having sex with a girl who literally says "i'm just not feeling it". i hate mike 😒

Chris = Stevie: now hear me out!! at first glance you might think stevie would be ashley. they cry a lot, they look to others for guidance, and they even look alike. but stevie strikes me as much more of a chris type, being that chris was never meant to be the hero. he's a goofy nerd who tells jokes when he's nervous and screams his head off any time he has to do something brave. and that's exactly what stevie's role in this AU is. despite her nature, she's making brave decisions for the benefit of her friends. (but this pic did remind me of ashley)

Matt = Matt: he's kinda just..... here. he cracks some jokes, he can either diffuse or encourage arguments, he plays second fiddle to his girlfriend most of the time. he tries to be the hero but fails miserably. but he has a good heart and he almost never does anything controversial.

Alisa = Ashley: alisa is WAY less outwardly emotional than ashley, but she has the same chaotic, contradictory nature. she cares about people, but she's also capable of coldly letting others die to save herself. she's good at making others feel protective of her even if she doesn't need protecting. she's VERY curious.

Jada = Emily: listen emily just doesn't fit with any of my characters even though i love her so much. but jada does share her determination in the face of fear, her will to survive at any cost, and the way she has the capability to soften up and be really sweet under the right circumstances. they're both much more resourceful and capable than you would initially think. but jada is more likely to follow others' guidance than make plans herself.

other stuff!

for the safe room scene, i thought it would be more interesting if it was the archetypal heroic boyfriend who was bitten and the archetypal damsel in distress who holds his fate in her hands. but there is no way in hell that austin would just sit there and let someone shoot him. when he takes alisa hostage, it almost makes it easier to shoot him; if he were pleading for his life, jada would never pull the trigger, no matter how much alisa told her to. but since he puts himself in the position of the aggressor (the exact thing they feared he would do) it becomes a more believable dilemma. of course, we learn later that the bite is not infectious and austin never would've turned, but none of them know that yet. even austin doesn't know. this scene in the game is extremely horrifying to me so i hope i did it justice in my AU too!

i said this in the replies too, but: the playthrough i envisioned with the stats and pictures makes these major choices: elaine initially survives the mine, matt dies by the rope, stevie's leg is fine, jada shoots austin (why she's covered in blood in her portrait), jada & alisa die in the explosion, stevie rescues elaine, and finn saves asa!

imagine the lantern is doing this shit the whole time LMAOO

the swiss army knife in my AU basically has the same function as the flare gun in until dawn. if matt doesn't have it, he'll die. but if emily doesn't have it, she'll only be bitten. but getting the flare gun into the right hands is sooo convoluted so i had to simplify it for our purposes.

butterfly effects

i didn't include these because i was trying to keep things brief, but here's some of the other ideas i had:

if elaine & austin's relationship drops too low before they arrive at the guest cabin, then elaine won't kiss him and will go outside to look for her phone against his wishes. that's where she would be taken by the creature instead.

if jada and alisa don't find enough clues about finn's disappearance, then they will not recognize finn when they find his remains. this makes finn less likely to protect them later in the night.

if jada shot austin and her relationship with alisa is HIGH, then alisa will give herself injuries on her face to help corroborate their self defense story. if jada shot austin and her relationship with alisa is LOW, then alisa will be fascinated and say "i didn't know you had it in you..." but will not offer to corroborate the story. in both scenarios, alisa will then say she doesn't want to sit around with austin's body. jada will have the option of leaving with alisa or staying inside the safe room. jada can say no (alisa might survive, jada dies), or yes (they both might survive). or if they have a high relationship, she can convince alisa to stay too (they both die).

if matt survives the attack in the mines, then stevie's leg will be injured because she didn't have the knife, meaning she arrives much later to rescue elaine/matt. so if elaine is still alive, matt can find her in the mines and they have a conversation. they will both be impressed by each other's survival, and elaine will feel bad that matt is only in the mines because of her. she asks where austin is, but matt has no idea. then stevie shows up and the rest plays out as described!

after dawn

so obviously their relationships would vary wildly depending on who survives and what choices they made to get there.

in an everyone survives playthrough, austin and elaine would break up soon after the events of the game. if you notice, elaine's perception of austin went down a lot because austin didn't try to save her after she fell down the elevator. she felt abandoned by him when he was the most physically capable & experienced person who could have saved her, but instead it was her injured best friend who never gave up on her. so they're done lol. stevie and matt would break up amicably (for reasons unrelated to the night in question) and remain friends, because how could they not? as for alisa, she doesn't talk to any of them anymore. she was only ever close with jada in the first place, but after jada refused to shoot austin, she lost all trust in her. after finn's remains are found, his spirit is no longer chained to the lodge and he's able to join asa at home. this version of finn is like a normal ghost in that he can appear to anyone he wants. he becomes close friends with all of asa's friends, especially stevie. and then... a few years later... a family called the washingtons purchases the property for their kids (josh, beth, and hannah) to throw parties in. just kidding sjfkjsd sole survivor playthrough: with the outline i laid out, there's actually no way for each of them to be the sole survivor because i had to cut so much out for brevity (i know it doesn't seem like it lol). but it's possible for asa, stevie, elaine, or matt to be sole survivors. the most heartbreaking is probably stevie, who would've had to see matt's decapitated head, heard the lodge blow up with asa, jada, alisa, and austin inside, then watch elaine die right in front of her. so that's super fucked and i don't want to think about that anymore!! asa being the sole survivor makes the most sense logically, because he has finn to protect him for most of it. elaine or matt being the sole survivor would be if one of them dies early in the game and then stevie dies trying to help elaine/matt escape. in any case, i don't think all the therapy in the world could cure that amount of survivor's guilt... everyone dies playthrough: the group become ghosts who haunt the mountain. finn's body is never recovered because no one is alive to report it to the police, so he is never at peace either. danny still owns the property, so he destroys the cable car and builds a giant electrified fence so that, hopefully, no human will ever return to the cursed mountain. i can't even / don't want to imagine how any of their parents would be able to move on after such a tragedy, it makes me genuinely sad to think about :( everybody dies playthroughs are all fun and games until you think about what comes after 😭

hey so, I'm an anime only newbie to chainsaw man, but especially after episode 7, I started to look into Aki/Denji, and like... my perspective is that Aki might actually calm Denji down a little bit. just sometimes.

Aki is like, the only person who we've seen just be solidly nice to Denji. like yeah, he tried to rough him up once in the very beginning... but then Denji kicked him in the nuts a bunch of times, and Aki got clued into the fact that Denji has exactly nothing to his name, not love nor money, and now that initial friction is all water under the bridge... which makes Aki come off as really forgiving actually.

now Aki's giving Denji all the creature comforts he didn't used to have, like toast and jam (no matter how messy), or hot baths (no matter how loud he sings), etc. Denji hasn't really had someone interact nicely with him since Pochita, and Pochita was more like a platonic soulmate... Denji's other half, full of unconditional devotion. Aki is more chill than that obviously, but to me he represents what it's like to be normal... something Denji's never really experienced. and in that way, the things Aki does probably seem mundane to himself, but they mean the world to Denji. to Aki, there is no luxury in toast with jam.

so if Aki and Denji were to fool around, I think it could be an incredibly affecting experience for Denji, while Aki would understand it through the lens of caring for the needs of someone who has been lacking a lot of basics in life. Aki has this to provide as well... and why shouldn't he? you can tell from everything Denji does that he just never expects a kind word or gentle gesture, and even when he's gotten it before, it's always been transactionally linked to some form of labor, risk, or unpleasantness. having something with Aki could be so blessedly easy. Aki wouldn't be trying to trap him in a deal, or weasel services out of him... it'd just be a type of care, plain and simple.

okay so i finished it and it was fun to read overall but i felt like past episode 3 was very rushed and condensed (makes sense since episode 3 finished past the half-way point of the book) and it stopped being as well written (barely any internal dialogue and descriptors), and some moments were mischaracterised heavily (including a lot of the willex) and juke just didn't seem developed at all. also i wish reggie had gotten more pov chapters since he's, y'know, a main character. i'm pretty sure he got, like, 2 :( also a lot of the music scenes lacked emotion but since this is an adaptation of something with music without music i'll let it slide. it was still nice to read either way.

HC high off of his anesthesia medication after having his appendix removed, being the most difficult patient because “where is Gege?”

“My husband” for more clarification

“Ahh, your husband left a little bit ago to pack an overnight bag as your procedure had a few unexpected difficulties. You’ll probably be more sore than normal- hey, no, sir, please leave your IV in”

“I’m going to find my husband-“

“Hua xian-sheng, please stay where you are-“

HC, pausing: “Wait, where are my clothes? And why am I in a dress?”

“Sir, it’s a hospital gown. It’ll make things like going to the bathroom easier-“

“I want to go home.”

Cue XL arriving fifteen minutes later in a flurry with a huge duffel bag. XL crying out a “San Lang, you’re awake!” As HC continues arguing with the nurse about drinking water and eating crackers.

“Gege, thank god you’re here. I missed you.”

XL is a bit flabbergasted because his San Lang is acting like a child, but it’s kinda adorable and how can XL not be fond of him?

XL laughs lightly as he makes his way over to HC, who immediately raises his arms with grabby hands, pulling XL in for a hug.

The nurses pull up a chair for XL to sit in as HC clings to XL, muttering about how his stomach hurts like a bitch, he’s wearing a dress in front of so many goddamn people, and why did Gege have to be gone for so long?

“For a second, I almost thought you left me. But I knew you’d come back, you always do because you love me,” HC finishes, eyes dropping with fatigue.

“That, I do. I love my husband sooo much,” XL confirms while brushing the hair off of HC’s forehead, placing a loving kiss in the middle. “Now what’s this about San Lang refusing to eat, hmm?”

The nurses gawk at how innocent the expression HC pulls off. What a menace in disguise. Their eyes nearly pop out of their heads when-

XL: “All right, come on, I’ll feed you.”

HC: 🥰🥰

HC, speaking with his mouth full of food: “wait, I have to turn in my draft design for our new client’s home-“

XL, holding a finger up to HC’s lips: “shh, no you don’t. you called out from work today, remember?”

HC, confused: “where’s my iPad? I have half of it done already, maybe I can-“

XL, holding up more noodles: “San Lang, chew your food properly so you don’t choke.”

HC: *nom nom*

HC: “we should go on our honeymoon”

XL: “we did, silly. we went to the Galapagos for two weeks. It was so much fun”

HC, stopping mid-chew as he admires the reminiscent look on XL’s face: “let’s go on another honey moon then”

XL, cracking up because this is the side HC shows no one but him, how luck XL is to be married to this man: “are you sure? a few minutes ago, you wanted to work on stuff for your job. Can San Lang handle being away from work for so long?”

HC, nodding virogrously: “if I’m with you, I can do anything.”

Nurses who pass by, thinking: “oh, that was actually really sweet”

HC, watching XL make his bed on the side couch: “I thought Gege was sleeping with me tonight?”

XL: “ahhh San Lang, I would, but there’s not enough room-“

HC, holding his blanket up for XL to cuddle next to him: 🥺

Nurse: “I’m sorry to inform you, Hua xian-sheng, but I cannot allow your husband to sleep in the same bed as there’s a risk of jostling your stitches-“

HC: [hisses while clutching XL’s hand]

Nurse, with her hands up: “but I can have another bed moved into the room and place it beside yours, would you like that?”

HC: “absolutely not-“

XL: “-that would be lovely, thank you, xiao jie.”

HC: [betrayed]

He can’t wait to go home.

let me start by saying I apologize for the novel I’m about to write.

OH MY FUCKING GODDDDDDD

this was. hands down. the best chapter so far. and I am NOT just saying that bc IT finally happened, ok?

like… everything about it was so beautiful and I usually hate pregnancy scares/arcs but it didn’t feel out of place or forced at all and oh my GOD jungkook !!! like I cried literally the whole way through from when she went missing until the end of the chapter. I didn’t think it was possible to physically feel how much two fictional characters loves another but you did it, Rid. you have breathed so much life into them that I felt like it was playing out right in front of me.

and even before the angst when it’s just them appreciating being together after the move, it was so wonderful to read. sometimes stories get boring when the drama ebbs but it isn’t like that with them bc their emotions are just beautiful to see play out.

and then… you sly cutie… he finally fucking SAID it. and it was so worth the wait of course, and it just made me cry so hard bc I think we all need to hear that right? that even if we stay broken forever someone will still love us? and more importantly SHE needed to hear that. and she better say it back after that stunt she pulled 👊🏼

also usually I don’t really think of the real life counterpart when reading fanfics, at least not unless it’s meant to be set in our world. but this chapter was so jungkook, wasn’t it?

like… in the bathroom scene, when he’s asking to be let in and telling her he’s gonna stay I started thinking about how that’s what his lives are for us, ya know? at least I know for me when i’m at my lowest and metaphorically locked in a bathroom I get that notification and it’s exactly like him knocking on my door. and even the ily confession just reminded me so much of things he’s actually said about him wanting us to be happy and that he loves us unconditionally. maybe I just miss the real jungkook too much… either way. you’re characterization is magical and I will probably never move on from him.

I feel like I actually have so much more to say but my brain isn’t spitting it out… i’m sure i’ll be back.

also, not to brag(?) but these last few chapters of them being official have really reminded me of my boyfriend and I and I think that’s why i’ve loved them even more than the past chapters. it just makes my heart really warm.

anyway…. you’re a goddamn genius and I love you (that’s a reference now 😂)

“This kind of thing really annoys me sometimes,” Medea said, sighing out loudly as she leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes. After a whole evening reading and signing documents, studying each one to figure which would bring her state the best results, she still had to attend silly events that the other nobles would often come up with.

A few steps ahead, Helio was standing close to a mirror, still changing his clothes as he was getting ready to accompany Lady Medea to tonight’s event. 

The marquess was excited about the idea, barely able to hide how happy he felt to be the one accompanying her. Still, he tried to look as composed as ever, despite the slight smile on his lips and faint blush on his cheeks. “We could come up with an excuse, if you’d like,” he suggested, looking over his shoulder to look at her.

“No,” she sighed, turning her attention back to him, admiring his bare back and the reflection of his bare chest in the mirror. Medea leaned her face into her hand before resume speaking, “I don’t need them having another reason to speak ill of me.”

Helio smiled quietly, looking down as he continued to dress up, pulling his pants up to his waist height. “It would spread just a rumor as much, m’lady,” he muttered, hearing as Medea chuckled at his comment.

“A rumor will already spread like wildfire if we get to the ball late. People love to make assumptions over this kind of matter,” the duchess continued, noticing how her words sparked something inside Helio as his cheeks were slowly turning into a light shade of pink.

“W-what kind of matter, m’lady?” Helio answered shyly, giving her a look over his shoulder as he picked up the shirt he was going to wear.

“You know, Helio,” she said, amusing herself with his reactions, “the futile things they always say, ‘I bet they got late because they were making o-’”

“M’lady!” 

“Hahah, what?” Medea chuckled, standing up from her seat, “I mean, I do get why you wouldn’t want to have people assuming you did this kind of thing we me.”

“That’s not it!” Helio protested, noticing how he raised his voice just a few seconds later when he spotted the shocked look on Medea’s face. You can’t lose your temper like that, he thought, “I-I mean, it’s not that I’d mind this kind of thing, it’s just that… well, they wouldn’t be so bold to do it!”

Medea smiled softly at his panic, the more he tried to come up with a reason for it, the more he dug his own grave. It was almost too easy.

“Anyway, what’s taking you so long to get ready, Heli?” She said, returning to her composed and uninterested voice tone, making Helio freeze in place.

“A-ah, it’s n-nothing-”

“Do you need help?” Medea asked, in a more gentle tone, as she noticed his hands shaking, struggling with the buttons of his shirt. She smiled slightly, it was just typical of him.

“...if you would, m’lady,” he muttered, half embarrassed, half glad.

Medea walked towards Helio, taking his shirt into her hands as start working on the buttons. “You always struggled with these things,” she muttered, imagining that her teases only made things harder for Helio. Yet, as she continued to move up, she couldn’t help but also struggle with buttoning his shirt up. “Helio, stop moving so much,” she complained, looking up to his face.

“S-sorry, m’lady, it just feels a bit-”

“Ticklish?” She raised her eyebrows in surprise. “Are you ticklish, Helio?”
