no one knew you and katsuki bakugo were in a relationship
katsuki was pissed off for no good reason. denki was asking stupid questions nonstop and eijiro unfortunately continued answering them, which sparked more questions in the electrokinetic. the blonde tried to hold in his anger and not express his annoyance, and he almost burst.
then he felt a familiar, soft hand on his back.
normally he would’ve pushed the hand off quickly, as he wasn’t too fond of physical touch from other people. but you? a whole different story. you could be all over him, cover him in lipstick and love bites, and he’d flaunt it like he was the luckiest man in the world.
he paused stabbing his fork, and looked at you, admiring the sweet smile you showed so often. he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you down to the seat next to him, making your thighs touch. to anyone else, it would seem as if katsuki was possessed by someone. since when does he even lay a hand on someone in a nice way?
the blonde looked at you up and down, “come over to my dorm tonight.” he commanded with a smug expression. he was bold, always running straight into conversations.
you rolled your eyes and tried to move closer to your boyfriend, who stared down at you with a certain glint in them. you answered, “i was already planning to, kats, you don’t need to tell me.” you looked away from his face for a minute, “won’t we get in trouble if mister aizawa sees us in the same dorm?”
he scoffed, “you always worry about that. if it makes you feel better, i’ll come to your room instead, ‘kay?” his voice sounded a bit agitated, but you knew he thought it was amusing that you were always worried about getting caught in a boy’s dorm.
you nodded and placed a kiss on his lips, and which he did the same, not wanting to let go. the two of you completely forgot about denki and eijiro across from you, who stopped their conversation to stare at you with their jaws on the ground.
the two of you pulled away from one another, and his arm still lay comfortably on your side. you shyly smiled, flustered with the intimacy. he chuckled in response, loving seeing his sweet girl embarrassed but still wanting more. once he gained self-awareness again, he realized the two meatheads across him were silent.
katsuki glared at eijiro and denki, whose jaws were still dropped, and eyes were wide. he grunted, “what are you lookin’ at?”
the redhead immediately replied, “what the hell do you mean?! you two just kissed!” he pointed at the two of you.
denki continued, “yeah, so does that mean you two are dating?!” bolts started to fly from his hair and spring outwards due to the shock.
before your boyfriend could reply, the two said in sync, “you never told us!”
katsuki finally replied, with a bit of sass apparent, “you never asked. plus, we’re always together, you should’ve noticed already, damn meatheads.”
the table was silent for a minute besides the sounds of you and the blonde taking small portions of food from his tray. his warm hand rubbed your hip, and you smiled at the touch, leaning in closer to him.
not long after, mina came over and saw how close you and the hothead were. she stood a couple feet away from katsuki’s table, then she tilted her head and looked at eijiro, who stared at her back.
suddenly, denki exclaimed, “y/n and bakugo are dating!”
mina shouted, “what?!” with the crash of her metal tray falling, along with all her lunch.
hope this layout looks good! didn’t wanna put multiple images so i just chose a divider. also im gonna start taking katsuki and ochaco requests once im done with some in my inbox! hope you guys like this one, sorry i didn’t write for a while, i had bad writer’s block. trying to get back on schedule!

Monoma x reader who is Mirio’s sibling Part 4
Welp, this ended up as a long one. Enjoy!
Other parts:
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Part 4/?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you had gotten back to class after running after your brother, you were met with a barrage of questions from your friends. Things such as “what happened?” “who died?” and “are you okay?”
You’d just brushed it off, saying you were feeling silly. “What do you mean you were feeling silly!?” Kaminari gawks at you, unconvinced.
You shrug, smiling mysteriously. “Turns out it was a false alarm.”
“You said ‘he’s gonna kill him!’ and begged Aizawa sensei to let you leave— what false alarm could it possibly be?”
“A false one.”
Sero groans. “You really are a smartass sometimes…”
“Ehe.”
“Don’t you ‘ehe’ me!”
***
>> “wanna hang out in my dorm after school?”
You raised your brow at Neito’s message, looking over at his table. He’s usually more discreet than texting you while eating lunch with his friends. Then you remember that 1-B now knows about your relationship with him thanks to this morning’s incident. There’s no need to be secretive now. >> “<3”
>> “i’ll take that as a yes then”
>> “😘”
>> “😘”
***
You stand in front of 1-B’s dorm building, staring at the door with growing apprehension. Sure, you’d been there before. Several late night conversations with your boyfriend, but only ever through the window of their common room. You’d never actually been inside to meet with him. Your palms are getting sweaty, so you rub them on your pants.
I wonder what his classmates think of me… That’s the biggest thing in your mind. You feel like you know them through Neito, always talking fondly of them. Not the bragging he usually does with your classmates. The thoughtful— sincere, side of him shines through when he shares his experience with his class with you. You reckon he’s nervous too. Two of what he loves having a formal meeting. You must’ve been been standing there a while, because someone catches sight of you from the window and hurriedly runs to the door.
“Togata-san, you’re here for Monoma, right?” a boy with a braid, whom you recognize as Rin opens the door. He smiles politely at you, which you return immediately.
“Yeah,” you nod. That sounded a lot more curt than you hoped, so you spluttered to say more. “Ah— um..! Thanks for getting the door. Rin-san, right? Neito talks a lot about you and your classmates so I know a lot about you guys— w-wait, not like in a creepy way I mean— a good way? Um…” I wanna ask Honenuki-san to bury me in the earth… Rin blinks. He chuckles softly, waving his hand. “Ah, yeah, I get it. Please come in.”
You shut your mouth, only muttering a small, “thank you” while you look down in embarrassment. Rin just smiles and leads you into the dorm. Class 1-B’s building isn’t so different from 1-A’s. It’s the same interior and layout, which you were expecting.
“Togata-san’s here, where’s Monoma?” Rin asks as you enter the lounge area. On the couch were Kaibara, Kamakiri, Tsubaraba, and Tetsutetsu.
“Last time I checked, he’s in his room,” Kaibara shrugs, looking over the couch. He makes eye contact with you. “Hey Togata, welcome to 1-B dorm.”
You smile and wave at the boys peeking over the couch, gulping down your nervousness.
Tetsutetsu sat up and cups his hand over his mouth in the direction of the staircase. “Lover boy..! Togata’s here!!! Like— your Togata, not the scary upperclassman.”
“Oh! Togata’s here?” Turning around, you see Tokage and Kodai approaching you. “Kendo’s not here right now, so in her stead I’ll say this— make yourself at home! You’re welcome over here.”
“Thank you,” you scratch your cheek, which is heating up from everyone’s eyes on you. “I’m happy to be here.”
The girls sit down over at the other couch, Tokage patting the spot beside her. “C’mon, have a seat!”
Hm, Neito seems to be talking a while, so… “Sure.” You set down the small bag you brought on the floor in front of you as you sit down. It was filled with snacks Neito and you both like, as well as your water bottle. Tokage looks at you and grins. “Mind if we ask stuff about you and Monoma? We’re curious.”
“We tried asking him earlier, but was too embarrassed to say anything. He was red..!” Kaibara says with a snicker. “Oh, well, I don’t mind answering,” you shrug.
“Well, if that’s the case, how long have you and Monoma have been together?” Rin asks.
You hum, looking up in thought. “Oh, since near the end of middle school.”
“Before the year even started!” Tsubaraba says in mock offense. “He never said anything!”
You chuckle, feeling your shoulders start to loosen up as you converse. “Well, he says he didn’t get the chance to mention it. Then after the stuff in the sports festival, well…” That’s mostly when his vendetta against your class started. The surrounding 1-B seems to have figured much as well, letting out a collective “Ah”.
“Makes sense, makes sense.”
“You don’t mind him tearing into your class daily?” Kamakiri asks. “From what I’ve seen, you’re fairly close with your classmates.”
“Well, none of them seem hurt by his remarks, and I know he doesn’t mean the stuff he says against them. Plus, Kendo-san’s always there to stop him if he says anything too far.”
“Yeah! Kendo’s amazing ain’t she?”
“Mhm! She really is.” You nod over at Tetsutetsu. “But Neito does stop mentioning things when I ask him to.” Ahem, that one time with Iida and the Stain incident.
“You’re pretty amazing yourself for that, Togata…” Kamakiri says, grimacing at the amount of times Kendo had told Neito not to try and provoke class 1-A. “It’s favoritism! He’s so cheesy!” Tsubaraba laughs, then looks at you. “Is he like, the super romantic type? Oh please tell us!” Everyone else leans closer in anticipation, eager to tease Neito with whatever new information you reveal. Aw, they really do love him! You were happy to oblige despite the high chance that your boyfriend will complain about it. “Oh he’s the sweetest..!” you gush. You’d take any opportunity to humble brag about your Neito. “He kisses my wrist every time he sees me. He’s so thoughtful. He knows what kind of date I might be in the mood for. Like one time it was raining, he took me to this manga cafe with a super comfy atmosphere. He’s sooo supportive and reliable too! He helps me train with my quirk by copying it and giving pointers. And and—”
You hear clamoring upstairs and stop your rambling in confusion.
Just then, Neito rushes down. “(Y/n)! Sorry, I was… uh, busy.”
Honenuki peeks his head out from the top of the stairs. “He was franticly cleaning his room because he wants to impress Togata. Kehehe.”
“S-Shut up Honenuki! I wasn’t!” Neito looks back, but the skull faced boy was already out of sight. He just grumbles and continues descending the stairs. “About time lover boy arrived!”
“Stop calling me that Tetsu!”
“What? It’s not a wrong description from what Togata’s been telling us,” Togake grins, patting you on the shoulder. Neito looks at you, aghast, like this is the ultimate betrayal. “(Y/n), what did you tell them?!”
You smile sheepishly, “I just told them how good of a boyfriend you are…”
“Urgh…” Neito averts his eyes. He could never be truly upset with you. “Well, if that’s all you’ve told them…”
“So there’s embarrassing stories they could tell us!? Togata, spill!”
“Nuh uh! We’re going to my room!” Neito picks up your bag from the floor and ushers you out of the lounge area with his other hand on your back.
“Aw! You’re no fun lover boy!”
Neito grumbles as you round the steps, running into Shiozaki who was heading out of her room.
“Do care not to do anything the lord would not condone while you’re in there,” she says.
“We’re not!” By this point, Neito’s face is flushed red. He quickens his pace as he leads you to his room, slamming the door once you’re both in. He takes a deep breath.
“Well that went lovely,” you grin. Looking around the room, everything is tidy. Not that Neito is a particularly messy person, but his dresser seems suspiciously packed as if he’d just shoved any clutter in there.
Neito groans, falling back on his bed with your bag in hand. Instead of dignifying your remark with a response, he waves the strap of your bag, “You got the snacks in here?”
“Of course I do. Scooch over,” you sit down as he rolled to his side to make room for you. “Not really much though. Just two small bags cause my allowance is low. Got any drinks? I want something cold.”
He huffs, stretching his arm for his laptop on his desk. He was adamant on staying laid out on the bed, so you reached for it instead. “There’s soda in the kitchen, which I could get, but that means, well…”
“I could go down there myself if you don’t wanna be teased by your friends,” you were already beginning stand up when Neito wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you back down.
“Oh but how could I make my lovely partner run errands?”
You laugh as he dumps you on the bed, one arm still around you. His other one grabs his bedsheets. Soon, you were wrapped up like a cocoon.
“Besides, you’re gonna reveal something embarrassing about me while I don’t have my eye on you,” he murmurs, sending you a mock glare. He kisses your forehead, getting up.
“Aww, you’re really gonna subject yourself to teasing for me?” Neito rolls his eyes. Before heading out the door, he says, “There’s ice cream too. Want some?”
“Ooh, sure. What kind?”
“Just vanilla. But I think we still have syrups and other toppings left. I’m sure they won’t mind if we hog the class stash for our little date,” he leaves you with a wink, gently shutting the door behind him. You smile and shake your head, scrolling through the movie options in his laptop on your shared Netflix account.
Full of caution, Neito sneaks down the stairs. Everyone you’d left in the lounge area are still there, chatting. He shuffles away from them silently and slips into the kitchen.
He got the soda, two glasses, the ice cream he’ll get last, and looking at the cupboards, barely anything let alone sprinkles or syrup. Damn it, I forgot it’s restock day. I should’ve checked the pantry before inviting (y/n) over. Neito’s surprised that he’d be so hasty to invite you over. He basically almost perished by the hands of your brother if you hadn’t been found out or arrived on time, and his first thought was to go on a little movie date with you now that his class is aware of your relationship. He realizes that he misses you a lot more than he realizes. It’s petulant. It’s not as if you’re long distance. But that’s how he feels being unable to be by your side for a proper date after the dorm system got implemented. (Y/n) already brought snacks so… it should be fine? He can’t help but lament the less than perfect scenario. It isn’t a big deal but he isn’t the type to settle—
“What’re you standing in thought for?”
Neito nearly jumps, only now noticing that Kendo, Bondo, Komori, and Kuroiro are back. In their hands are several plastic bags from the grocery store. “Perfect timing, Kendo!”
She raises a brow at him as she sets down the bags she’s holding, “That’s suspicious. Usually you’re trying to shake me off in order to berate class A.”
He scoffs, but holds back his smartass retorts. “Did you guys buy sprinkles and syrup?”
“Yeah, I think it was in that bag.”
Neito quickly rummages through the bag Kuroiro pointed him to. “Needless to say, I’ll reimburse in the jar.” Ergo, the jar the class each contributes their allowances to for groceries. Bondo glances at the two cups and two bowls, and like a puzzle piece being glued— heh— he remembers the events of this morning. “Ah, these are for Togata-san.”
“Uh huh,” Neito absentmindedly says, heading over to the freezer and finding less that a third of ice cream in the final tub. “Shoot.”
“We bought more.”
“Thanks,” he mutters, turning back to the bags.
“Wait, if it’s for your date, my parents sent me creampuffs. You should take them with you,” Kinoko says, moving to retrieve them from the pantry.
“Really? Are you sure? You just said that they’re from your parents.”
Kinoko waves it off. “They’re just leftovers from one of my relative’s store. I get them all the time. You can just get a couple if you don’t wanna take all of them.”
“Hm, I do have a box of microwave popcorn in my room… are you doing a movie date?” Kuroiro asks.
“Yeah, but…”
Somehow, his classmates ended up giving their own contributions, which ended up in Neito pushing a tray cart filled with snacks up the stairs. The trays of which are lent by Shoda and the cart itself by Tsunotori.
Is it like when there’s only one child to spoil in a family? Neito wonders. You are the singular couple in the first year hero course. Maybe that’s a part of it. He disregards the high probability that they’re hoping that he’d be somewhat cordial with your class while he’s dating you. Little do they know you quite like it when he gets a tad insane. Behind him, he’s dragging a wagon behind him piled with blankets and clothes pins because Honenuki suggested making a fort with you. They very much hijacked your date, but he’s still grateful about it, whatever their reason may be for helping.
He carries the wagon and cart up the stairs, having copied Yanagi’s quirk. Reaching the top, he’s faced with Mirio’s head peeking out from the floor in the middle of the hallway.
Neito stares. Mirio stares back.
“Hello.”
“Hello to you too, onii-san. Are you here to kill me?”
“Haha, no. (Y/n) will never forgive me,” he says, sticking his arm out of the floor to rub his head.
Neito shifts in place. What’s he here for then? A drop of sweat trickles down from his forehead as he waited for Mirio to reiterate what he’s here for.
“I’m here because I’d like to make an offer to you. Think of it as an olive branch being extended.”
Neito raises a brow. A peace offering? “I’m listening…”
semblance of touch
prologue - part one - part two - part three
pairing - bakugou x gn!reader
warnings - swearing, bkg uses princess as a nickname but in a gn way, enemies to lovers, minor injuries, hospital setting briefly (title from sedated by hozier)
By the time you had pulled on your jacket and caught up with him, the blonde was already at the front of the hospital. He took one look at you and scowled. Scoffing, you pushed past him and towards the street you knew led towards your shared dorms.
Your stomping was interrupted by a sharp pain in your chest. Grunting, you paused and waited for the annoyingly cocky blonde to catch up with you.
“Hurt, Didn't it?”
You sucked on your teeth. Was he going to be so goddamn annoying the entire time? You might put everyone out of their misery and smother him before the quirk even has time to run its course.
You spun on your heel, pressing your index finger to his annoyingly muscled chest.
“Listen, I know you don’t like me, I don’t know what I did to you but could you try not to be a giant dick for this please” you hissed at him.
He dragged his tongue across his teeth, peering down at you. The scowl on his face wasn’t promising but you were determined not to break under his gaze. You could give as good as you got and he was going to be perfectly aware of that by the end of this whole thing.
He folded.
“Fine.”
“Thank you” you huffed, spinning around again.
This time you tried not to stray too far from him.
—
“We’re gonna have to move you to his room”
Your jaw dropped. Bakugou and you had come to Aizawa’s office to try and look for some sort of fix for the situation. Ripping a bite from your sandwich, you clenched your hands behind your back. It was clear that your angry blonde companion wasn’t too happy about this turn of events either - if his smoking palms were any indication.
“What do you mean? There’s a spare room on his floor” you stuttered, “it’s literally right next to him why can’t I stay there?”
Your professor grumbled, leaning forward in his chair. His black hair looked tousled and his eye bags seemed even bigger than usual - something you hadn’t thought possible until this moment. Because you and Bakugou were his students, despite you both being adults, you were still technically under his guidance and that meant he had to deal with the technicalities of the situation you had landed yourself in.
“It’s not furnished and the bathroom is on the side of Bakugou’s room” he explained, “even if you moved your bed to the back wall you wouldn’t be close enough”
You gnawed on your lip and waited for your teacher to continue.
“We don’t know how long this is going to take to sort, it’s not worth moving the entire dorm layout if it’s going to be fixed in the next couple of days”
“What do you mean days?” came a gruff voice from behind you.
You grimaced as you were reminded of just who your new roomie was.
“We thought this was a 24-hour deal, sensei” you scrambled to cover for your counterparts rudeness.
Aizawa quirked a brow at you - the closest to amusement you think you’ve seen on him. Shifting on your feet, you decided that avoiding eye contact would be the best idea.
“We don’t know that, none of the others have seen any progress so you're just going to have to deal with it” Aizawa’s eyes glowed slightly on the last few syllables.
Even though his annoyance wasn’t directed at you, you still shivered under its weight. He was very obviously tired so if Katsuki could just leave it alone, you could finally sort your shit out.
“Your things are being moved as we speak,” Aizawa grumbled.
Cringing once again, you nodded at your teacher and removed yourself from the situation, much to your own relief. Usually, you had no problem being a slight annoyance to the man - he had multiple years to get used to you. But you were tired, and so was he, so you would have to save your annoyance for your lovely new best friend.
“Come on then dumbass, you smell like hospital and it’s making me retch”
You gaped at Bakugou’s comment, dragging your arm up to your face to smell it. By the time you realised he was pulling your leg, the taller boy was halfway to the elevator and dangerously close to 8ft away.
“Look,” you started, “if this is gonna work, you’re gonna have to slow the fuck down”
You emphasised the last word, slapping your hand on the blonde’s bare shoulder. A zap of electricity travelled up your arm and through your body, leaving that tingly warmth in its place. It flowed through your body like the drip of honey in your veins. The sensation caused you to let out an embarrassing whimper/gasp combination and you felt your face heat up in response to it.
Katsuki obviously felt it too, his body freezing up under your touch. You saw a shiver travel through his body, seemingly emerging from where your palm laid across his tan skin. A breathy sound escaped his nose.
You both stood in the hall, frozen in place.
“Uh,” you forced out, “we should really… um- go to the dorm”
It took Katsuki a second to regain his composure but he eventually returned to his gruff, standoffish self and shrugged your touch off of his skin. Grumbling, he continued down the hall towards what was now your combined bedroom.
—
The room was still very distinctly Bakugou. It was fairly plain, blue and grey bed sheets and very few posters. There was some skincare on the desk next to his bed and a fair collection of books tucked neatly into a bookshelf across the room from his bed. There were a few photos hung on the wall. They featured a brunette man with glasses and a woman that looked like an older, female version of the man that stood in the room with you. Bakugou’s parents, you assumed.
What really surprised you was the simple white plant pot on his window. The little purple flowers were no bigger than an inch in diameter but they seemed perfectly pruned, not a leaf or petal out of place or a sun spot in sight. They added some colour to the room - something it was sorely missing.
The only thing that really seemed out of place was the camp bed that had been haphazardly set up in the centre of the room. It had your bedsheets on it but there was nothing else indicating it belonged to you. You understood why this couldn't have been done in your room, the girls had a lot more protests to the loudmouth man next to you living in their side of the dorm than the three guys did to having you around. Shouji was nice enough, quiet but that was fine with you. Kirishima was already one of your close friends so it was more of a help than a hindrance to have him around - especially for him to inevitably play mediator between you and your brand new roommate.
“Are you gonna stand there like an idiot or go shower?”
You sucked on your teeth.
“I was taking in my new prison cell, if you must know,” you bit back at him.
He raised his hands in surrender.
“Whatever you want princess, you still smell like rubbing alcohol though”
You rubbed a hand up your arms uncomfortably, avoiding eye contact with the man in front of you.
“They haven’t brought my clothes over yet”
He stretched his neck to the side, dragging a wide hand down the side of it and groaning. Then, a hand appeared in front of your face.
“Keys. I’ll get Kirishima to go get your damn clothes” he grumbled.
You shyly dropped your keys in his hand. Letting him go through your shit didn’t appeal to you too much, but a nice, warm shower certainly did. At this point, you just wanted to crawl into the shitty camp bed and pass out until the sunrise.
Calloused hands grabbed the keys from yours, and then he was gone. You adjusted your jaw, sucking on your tongue to prevent a snarky comment escaping your mouth. Casting your eyes to his open ensuite door, the white of the shower towels glinted in the bedroom light and you felt the sweet promise of cleanliness clear your stress from your shoulders.
And you were correct. The warm spray of the shower washed away whatever dirt from the fight hadn’t been cleaned off at the hospital and you felt your tense muscles unfurl under your skin. The steam even calmed the thrumming burn under your skin from Bakugou going just over your distance threshold. You didn’t have a wash cloth here yet, but Bakugou at the very least wasn’t a 4-in-1 body wash-shampoo-kitchen-sink kinda guy. Small victories, you supposed.
The knock at the bathroom door came way too quickly for your liking. Leaning out of the shower, you cracked open the door just enough for a tan hand to drop a towel on the floor.
What a gentleman.
If you rolled your eyes any more today they were gonna fall out of your head. At least the burning in your chest lessened when he returned to the dorm. It was an odd thing, to find comfort in his presence when he annoyed you so much in every other aspect. Stupid quirk. Huh, finding comfort in Bakugou - maybe a side effect of the quirk was going insane. You mentally wave goodbye to your hero career and let the image of your and Bakugou’s matching padded cells flood your brain.
The chuckle you let out wasn’t quiet. You bit your lip to stop yourself sounding like a crazy person. There was no need to give Bakugou more ammo than he already had on you.
“The fuck are you laughing at?”
You bit your lip to stifle a giggle again. This really wasn’t the time for you to start finding stuff funny.
Wrapping the red towel around yourself, you stepped out of the bathroom - fully expecting a pile of clothes to be waiting for you.
Instead, it was just Bakugou sitting on the bed. Alone.
Red eyes danced up your figure, tracing the outline of your waist and hips under the towel wrapped around your body. The red fabric only covered you from your chest to mid thigh and left a sizable amount of both peeking out either end. The water and steam made your skin supple and it seemed to glow under the warm lighting of his room. You felt your face heat up under his watchful eyes and the room seemed to heat up several degrees in the few seconds he had been dragging his eyes up and down your body.
His lidded eyes finally met yours, peering up at you from between his dark lashes. It felt like they were looking straight through you, into your head and your exact thoughts on the situation. Bakugou shifted, as if to move towards you.
Knock knock.
You started, hand gripped your towel tighter against your chest. The noise had knocked you both out of whatever trace you had fallen into and the awkward energy from earlier returned tenfold.
“Hey dude, I got the clothes you asked for” Kirishima’s enthusiastic voice echoed from behind the thin wood of the door, “I didn’t know what to get so I kinda grabbed a bunch.”
“Leave them by the door”
You furrowed your eyebrows at him as he got up, opening the door and throwing your clothes on the bed where his body had been not ten seconds earlier. Grumbling, he left and slammed the door behind him.
“Tell me when you’re dressed or whatever.”
And with that, you were alone, wondering what the hell had just happened.
thank you for reading! if you want to be added to the taglist for the whole series, or just Bakugou's parts lmk <3 reblogs and comments are appreciated
Currently thinking about my roleswap au, and how fun the dynamics between certain characters. More specifically, the roleswap versions of the canon UA staff…
They’re a band of villains who get together through various means and are led by Nezu + All Might, and they’re real fun to think about-
Some examples:
- All might is the most renowned villain around, striking fear into everyone who sees him - he’s also terrified of Nezu, and shakily offers him tea whenever they talk.
- Aizawa once bribed Midnight to make everyone fall asleep so that he could sneak a cat into their hideout.
- Midnight has made them fall asleep on regular occurrences so that she could sneak into everyone’s snack stashes.
- Cementoss rearranges their hideouts layout when he’s bored.
- Snipe once shot Mic in the foot “by accident” and made him yell so loud they alerted the cops and had to find a new place to stay.
- Thirteen has disintegrated two of their get-away vans, once by accident, the other on purpose because it was an ugly van.
- Powerloader hides explosives everywhere and never tells anyone because, in his own words “they’re there just in case the heroes come ya know?”
- They have blown up many times before.
- He is also their designated get-away driver.
- Ecto pays for everything and uses this as an excuse to buy a karaoke machine Every Single Time They Find a New Place to Stay.
There’s SO much more for them, but this is the gist of it for now lol
MHA X READER WITH ATOM EVE´S POWERS
Words: 4k Warnings: Cursing, Violence
Chapter 6
"Today's training is a little different. You'll have three instructors—me, All Might, and another faculty member—monitoring you," Mr. Aizawa announces once everyone is settled.
"Sir! What kind of training is this?" Sero asks, raising his hand.
"Rescue," Aizawa replies, holding up a card. "You'll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, and situations like that."
Rescue training. It sounds boring, but I guess a hero needs to be versatile to stand out—like All Might. He doesn’t just fight villains; he’s known for incredible rescue missions too; I think to myself.
"Disasters, huh? Sounds like we're in for a big workout," Kaminari remarks.
"Totally," Mina agrees, her excitement bubbling over.
"Real hero stuff. This is what separates the men from the boys. I'm shakin' with excitement!" Kirishima exclaims enthusiastically.
"Finally, I'll get to show off how good I am in water. Ribbit," Tsu adds confidently.
"Everyone! I don’t think Mr. Aizawa is finished talking," I point out, cutting through the chatter.
"I wasn’t," Aizawa confirms, making everyone gasp. "What you wear in this exercise is up to you. I know you're excited about costumes... but keep in mind that you haven’t gotten used to them yet, and they might limit your abilities. This special training is at an off-campus facility, so we’ll be taking a bus to get there. That’s all. Start getting ready," Mr. Aizawa instructs before leaving the room, opening the panels that reveal our hero suitcases as he goes.
"Deku? Why are you wearing your PE clothes? Where's your costume?" Uraraka asks, tilting her head curiously.
"You saw it after the combat training. It was kinda trashed. I'm still waiting on the support company to fix it up," Midoriya explains with an awkward smile.
A sudden whistle blows right next to me, making me jump.
"Where'd you even get that?" I complain, glaring at Iida.
Oh, shit. I momentarily lose my temper. I need to do better at controlling it. Thank God he doesn’t seem angry, I just have to play it of as playful banter. I think as my panic begins to settle.
"Gather around, Class 1-A! Using your student numbers, form two neat lines so we can load the bus efficiently," Iida announces, still blowing that whistle relentlessly.
I use my quirk to snatch it from him, sending it flying. "No whistles," I say firmly, crossing my arms into an X.
"But how will I get everyone's attention?" Iida flails his arms dramatically, clearly distressed.
"Iida, if you want to get people’s attention, you need to do it in a way that doesn’t annoy them," I reply with a small smile.
"The bus’s open layout ruins my boarding strategy," Iida complains, looking genuinely frustrated.
"Iida, you really need to chill," Mina teases, smirking from beside him.
"If we’re pointing out the obvious, then there’s something I want to say… about you, actually," Tsu says, turning her attention to Midoriya.
" What is it Asui?" Midoriya asks.
"I told you to call me Tsu," she insists, her tone firm yet casual.
"Oh, yeah. Right," Midoriya mumbles, blushing and starting to sweat.
"That power of yours—doesn’t it seem a lot like All Might’s?" Tsu suggests, her eyes narrowing with curiosity.
Yeah, it’s just like All Might’s quirk—because it *is* All Might’s quirk. They have the same one. I really want to ask Midoriya about it, but what if I come across as nosy? The thought nags at me as I try to decide what to do.
"What? Really? You think so, huh? I never really thought about that. I guess it’s kinda similar..." Midoriya stammers, sweating and visibly flustered.
"Wait, hold on, Tsu. You’re forgetting that All Might doesn’t hurt himself. That makes a huge difference," Kirishima points out before scratching the back of his head. "Still, I bet it’s cool to have a simple augmenting type of quirk. You can do a lot of flashy stuff with it. My hardening’s super strong and can destroy bad guys in a fight, but it doesn’t look all that impressive," he adds, sounding a little down on himself.
"Oh, no way! I think it’s really awesome looking. You’re definitely pro material with a quirk like that," Midoriya says sincerely, trying to lift Kirishima’s spirits.
"You really think so? Still, it seems like it’d be easier to be a popular hero if I had something flashier," Kirishima replies, a hint of doubt lingering in his voice.
"No one’s going to care if your quirk is flashy or not when you save them," I chime in, stating it as an undeniable fact.
“You really think so?” Kirishima asks.
“Of course.” I reply with a smile.
"My Navel Laser has the perfect combination of panache and strength," Aoyama declares, clearly proud of himself.
"But it’s way lame if it gives you a stomach-ache, sweetie," Mina teases, softening the blow with a pat on Aoyama’s shoulder.
"Well, if any of our classmates have pro quirks, it’s Todoroki, Kuramoto, and Bakugo," Kirishima points out, nodding toward them.
"Sure, but Bakugo’s always angry, so he’ll never be that popular," Tsu says matter-of-factly.
That’s true, but some people like being degraded, and with his good looks, he’ll probably be super popular with the ladies, I think to myself, glancing at Bakugo.
"What’d you say? I’ll kick your ass!" Bakugo snaps, standing up abruptly.
"You see?" Tsu says, casually pointing at him.
"You know, we basically just met you, so it’s kinda telling that we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage," Kaminari remarks, smirking.
"You’re gonna regret the day you applied to this school, you loser! I’ll kill you!" Bakugo roars, his voice echoing.
"Whoa, look!" I interrupt, stepping in to stop the fight and pointing toward the massive structure ahead. "Is that the arena we’re using for rescue training?" I ask.
"Yes, now quiet down," Mr. Aizawa orders, his voice cutting through the chatter.
"Yes, sir," everyone agrees in unison.
"Hello, everyone! I've been waiting for you!" Thirteen greets us as we step off the bus.
"It’s the space hero, Thirteen! The chivalrous pro who’s rescued tons of people from disasters across the world!" Midoriya lists excitedly, his eyes shining.
"Woo-hoo! Thirteen is one of my favourite heroes!" Uraraka exclaims, her enthusiasm matching Midoriya’s.
"I can’t wait to show you what’s inside!" Thirteen gestures toward the entrance with a wide grin.
"This is going to be awesome!" we all cheer in unison.
We step into a massive dome filled with several different sections—two large tents, one with fire and the other with clouds, a large lake, a mountain zone, and a ruined city. In the center, a fountain offers a clear view of each section.
"Holy crap! It looks like some kind of amusement park!" Kirishima exclaims, his eyes wide with excitement.
"A shipwreck. A landslide. A fire. A windstorm. Et cetera. I created this training facility to prepare you to deal with different types of disasters," Thirteen explains, pointing around at the different areas. "I call it the Unforeseen Simulation Joint. But you can call it USJ!"
"A shipwreck. A landslide. A fire. A windstorm. Et cetera. I created this training facility to prepare you for different types of disasters," Thirteen explains, gesturing around at the various sections. "I call it the Unforeseen Simulation Joint. But you can call it USJ!"
"Hey, shouldn’t All Might be here already? Let me guess—he booked an interview instead," Aizawa mocks as he walks over to Thirteen, and they both lower their voices.
"The clock’s ticking, we should get started," Aizawa suggests, his tone serious.
"Excellent. Before we begin, let me just say one thing. Well, maybe two things. Possibly three, four, or five," Thirteen rambles on, clearly excited.
"We get it!" the class calls out in unison, amused by Thirteen’s enthusiasm.
"Listen carefully. I’m sure you’re aware that I have a powerful Quirk. It’s called Black Hole. I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust," Thirteen explains, proudly showcasing their unique ability.
"Yeah, you’ve used Black Hole to save people from all kinds of disasters before, haven’t you?" Midoriya agrees excitedly, clearly impressed.
Wouldn’t Black Hole be more useful for killing than rescuing? I think to myself, and as if thirteen reads my mind, she says,
"That’s true, but my Quirk could also very easily be used to kill," Thirteen informs, making the entire class gasp. I pretend to be surprised and gasp along with them.
"Some of you also have powers that can be dangerous. In our superhuman society, all Quirks are certified and stringently regulated, so we often overlook how unsafe they can actually be. Please don’t forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly. Even if you're trying to do something virtuous, like helping rescue someone. Thanks to Aizawa's fitness tests, you have a solid idea of your Quirk’s potential. And because of All Might’s combat training, you likely experienced how dangerous your powers can be when used against other people. Carry those lessons over to this class. Today, you’re going to learn how to use your Quirks to save people’s lives. You won’t be using your powers to attack enemies or each other, only to help. After all, that’s what being a hero is all about—ensuring the safety of others."
That’s all I have to say. Thank you so much for listening," Thirteen bows, and I think to myself She is so awesome! As we all cheer in agreement.
"Right. Now that that’s over..." Aizawa starts, but suddenly the lights in the dome flicker out. Something black and swirling appears in front of the fountain, the lights sputtering on and off.
"Stay together and don’t move! Thirteen, protect the students!" Aizawa orders, his voice sharp and commanding.
“What is that thing? … Wait, has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people,” Kirishima asks, his voice tinged with agitation.
“Stay back,” Mr. Aizawa commands as he puts on his goggles. “This is real. Those are villains.” As soon as Mr. Aizawa says that, I freeze, so many possibilities running through my mind.
“What? Real villains? No way. How could so many of them get into a UA facility this secure?” Kirishima asks, his worry evident as he glances around nervously.
“Because that Villains has a portal quirk.” I say and point at the shadowy figure at the fountain.
“Wait how do you know that?” Midoriya Questions.
“His DNA. I don´t just manipulate matter but also see it.” I reply.
"Why aren’t the alarms going off?" Yaoyorozu points out, her voice sharp with concern.
"Good question. I’m not sure," Thirteen admits, and we all gasp in unison.
"Is the entire campus under attack? Or is this their only target?" Todoroki begins, his voice calm but focused. "Either way, if the alarm sensors aren’t being triggered, then one of these villains must have a Quirk that’s masking their presence here. They carefully chose this isolated facility as an entry point at a time when a class was being taught. They’re fools for trespassing here, but they’ve clearly thought this out. Whatever their plan, they must have a concrete objective in mind. But what is it?" he analyses, his
"Thirteen, get them out of here and alert the main campus. Actually, if they’ve got the ability to block our sensors, they might be jamming our regular communications too. Kaminari, try using your Quirk to contact the school," Aizawa directs, his voice firm.
"Yes, sir!" Kaminari responds immediately, placing his hand on his headgear.
"What are you gonna do? You can’t fight them on your own! There’s too many of them. Even if you can nullify their Quirks, your fighting style’s not suited for this. Your power works best in stealth and one-on-one fights. That’s not gonna help with a group!" Midoriya blurts out, practically mansplaining Mr. Aizawa’s Quirk to him.
"You can’t be a pro if you only have one trick," Mr. Aizawa replies, his goggles now fully on and his expression resolute. "I’ll leave it to you, Thirteen."
Without hesitation, Aizawa leaps down the stairs like he’s flying, landing smoothly and maintaining his momentum as he charges at the villains. His scarf flashes out, erasing their Quirks in an instant. With a fluid motion, he captures three villains in his weapon, slamming them together and knocking them unconscious in one seamless attack.
"Move!" Thirteen shouts, and we all sprint after her toward the exit, adrenaline surging as the situation escalates.
"Whoa, he’s holding them off. I guess I shouldn’t have underestimated him," Midoriya says, still lagging behind us.
"Come on, Midoriya!" I yell, urging him to pick up the pace.
"This is no time to be analysing. We have to go!" Iida calls out, his voice sharp with urgency.
Suddenly, a shadowy portal materializes in front of us, forcing us all to skid to a halt.
"There is no escape for you," the villain steps through, his voice calm yet menacing. "It’s a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it’s impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello. And besides, isn’t this a fitting place for All Might, the symbol of peace, to take his last breath? I believe he was supposed to be here today, and yet I see no sign of him. There must’ve been some sort of change in plans we could not have foreseen. Ah, well, in the end, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I still have a role to play."
"Wait, no!" I call out as Bakugo and Kirishima suddenly charge at the villain without hesitation.
Bakugo’s explosion erupts on impact, creating a thick smoke screen that temporarily obscures the portal villain.
"Did you think we were just gonna stand around and let you tear this place to shreds?" Kirishima shouts defiantly, his fists clenched.
"Seriously, why are you guys running towards danger? You’re supposed to be running away from it! What the hell is wrong with you people?" I yell, panic rising in my voice.
"You live up to your school’s reputation," the villain says mockingly. "But you should be more careful, children. Otherwise, someone might get hurt." His tone is calm, but the threat is chilling.
"You two, get out of the way right now!" Thirteen yells, her voice sharp with urgency.
"I’ll scatter you across this facility to meet my comrades… and your deaths!" the villain declares, and suddenly, we’re surrounded by the swirling darkness of his shadowy portal.
"What’s going on?" Iida shouts, his voice cutting through the chaos.
The next thing I know, I’m plummeting toward the landslide zone.
"Crap!" I squeak, activating my powers to fly down and slow my descent.
I really wanted to keep the fact that I can fly a secret. I had this whole plan where, when I finally revealed it, everyone would be like, *"Since when can you fly?"* and I’d casually reply, *"Since forever."* But this? This is a life-or-death situation. No time for keeping secrets now.
I start scanning my surroundings, trying to see if anyone else is here, but my thoughts are interrupted by a voice.
"You were right about that guy being able to portal us, but where are the others?" Todoroki questions, his tone calm but alert.
"I think it’s just us here. He said he’d scatter us around the facility," I reply, pointing toward the centre. "We’re in the landslide zone. I got a good look while I was in the air—it’s a couple of miles that way to the centre. But our classmates are probably in the other rescue zones."
As I finish speaking, figures start emerging from the shadows ahead of us.
"Villains," Todoroki confirms, his voice sharp, and my mind begins racing.
What should I do? My thoughts spiral. I could just blast them, but my feet won’t move. No, I just have to act. I could freeze their feet to the ground… but Todoroki’s probably planning to do that. And he’s better at it anyway. So maybe… if he freezes them, I can use my power to make a rope and tie them up.
As if reading my mind, Todoroki freezes the villains’ feet to the ground in an instant. I jump into action, forming a rope from thin air and quickly binding them.
"That was way too easy. These guys came here to take on All Might?" I frown, glancing at the restrained villains.
"Aren’t you embarrassed to lose to two children?" Todoroki taunts with a smirk. "For God’s sake, you’re adults. Put up a real fight."
"So the plan was to scatter us and then kill us," Todoroki scoffs, his voice icy and disdainful. "You were woefully unprepared. In fact, it looks to me like you’ve had no training at all. You haven’t the slightest idea how to use your Quirks."
He steps forward, and I glide along beside him, using my Quirk to skate across the ice just like we practiced in combat training.
"This power... they had us the instant we were warped here," one of the villains stammers, teeth chattering from the cold.
"They’re not kids—they’re monsters! So cold..." another whimpers, huddling in on himself.
"How do they plan to kill All Might?" Todoroki muses, his tone calm yet cutting. "At first, I thought they’d gathered a force of elite criminals who could simply overpower him."
He glances at the shivering villains and shakes his head. "Which obviously can’t be their master plan. Most of these villains are low-level thugs. Just pawns."
"From what I can tell, there are only three or four truly dangerous people here," I suggest, trying to piece together the situation. "If that’s the case, then what we need right now is more information."
Todoroki nods in agreement before stepping closer to one of the villains whose face is the only thing not frozen. Ice crystals swirl in the air as Todoroki raises his hand toward the trembling man. "Listen carefully," Todoroki says, his voice calm but menacing. "If you stay frozen, your cells will slowly die as your body succumbs to frostbite and hypothermia. Luckily for you, I want to be a hero, so I’d like to avoid unnecessary cruelty."
The villain flinches as Todoroki’s icy hand gets closer. "But I can only do that if you tell me how you plan to kill All Might. That’s the only way you’ll survive."
I stare at Todoroki, my face paling. He is super scary. I think, keeping my distance.
After securing the villains, Todoroki and I head toward the center. I fly above the ground, and he glides smoothly on an ice path he creates as we move.
When we arrive, the scene before us is horrifying. All Might is locked in combat with the Nomu. As I focus on its DNA, I notice something unsettling—there are similarities to Midoriya. It has multiple Quirks embedded in its makeup, but that's not the part that stands out. What catches my attention is how its Quirks look like they were forcibly injected, as if they don’t naturally belong to it. The massive creature has its hand plunged through All Might’s side, fingers digging deep. Its lower half is halfway into a swirling portal, and it’s trying to drag All Might into the void with it. All Might, unyielding, strains to hold his ground against the overwhelming force.
As we skid to a stop, both Todoroki and I spot Midoriya sprinting toward the action. The shadowy villain shifts into his path, opening a portal. Before Izuku can react, Bakugo appears out of nowhere, detonating an explosion that blasts the villain sideways.
We land as Todoroki sends a surge of ice rushing toward the Nomu, freezing over its body and encasing its hand.
"One of your poorly trained thugs told us you're here because you think you can kill All Might," Todoroki declares coldly.
All Might leaps down, landing beside me with a heavy thud.
"Are you alright, All Might?" I ask, concern thick in my voice.
Kirishima charges at the man with the hands, but the villain evades him effortlessly.
"Let me heal you," I offer, placing my hand over All Might's injury. I lower my voice as I add, "Your injury was already bad before, but now it’s worse."
“Before?!” All Might echoes in alarm, his tone sharp.
“Don’t worry,” I reassure him quickly. “I didn’t tell anyone, if that’s what you’re worried about. I figured it out the first time I saw you in person. I do have a lot of questions for you afterward, though. I hope you won’t mind.” I give him a small smile before focusing on my task.
Using my Quirk to manipulate the atoms in his body, I begin to heal him. Controlling organic matter is still new to me, and it takes all my concentration. A headache pounds behind my eyes, but I manage to stop the bleeding, though I can’t do much more.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t do better,” I apologize softly, feeling inadequate.
“It’s fine. You did really well,” All Might reassures me, his voice warm and steady as he pats my head.
“Dammit, that was going to be so cool!” Kirishima grumbles, clearly frustrated.
“Guess I found your body that time, you smoky bastard!” Bakugo mocks as he pins the shadowy villain to the ground.
“The Symbol of Peace will not be defeated by delinquents like you,” Todoroki scoffs, his voice icy with contempt.
"Kacchan! Everyone!" Midoriya's voice trembles, tears forming in his eyes before he quickly wipes them away.
“Kurogiri. How could you let this brat get the best of you?” the hand-covered villain scolds coldly. “You’ve gotten us into a real jam here.”
“You got careless, you dumb villain,” Bakugo sneers, his tone full of confidence. “It wasn’t hard to figure you out. Only certain parts of you turn into that smoky warp gate. You use that mist to hide your actual body, as a kind of distraction, thinking it made you safe. That’s why we missed. But if you didn’t have a body, you wouldn’t need this neck armour, right? You’re not immune to physical attacks if they’re well-aimed.” The villain grunts under Bakugo’s hand, and Bakugo lets off a few minor explosions as a warning.
“Don’t move! You try anything funny, and I’ll blow your ass up right now, got it? They’ll be cleaning you up for weeks,” Bakugo growls menacingly.
“Oh, that doesn’t sound very heroic,” Kirishima teases with a smirk.
“They escaped uninjured and captured my two strongest men,” the hand villain mutters, his voice low and simmering with anger. “Kids these days really are amazing. They make the League of Villains look like amateurs. Can’t have that. Nomu.”
At his command, the Nomu pulls itself free from the frozen wormhole. The portal vanishes, and the creature’s limbs snap and crack—but it keeps moving as though nothing happened.
“How is that thing still moving? He’s all messed up!” Midoriya exclaims, his voice tinged with horror.
"Stay back, everybody!" All Might commands, putting his arm out in front of me as the ice breaks off the Nomu and its lost limbs regenerate.
"What is this? I thought you said his power was shock absorption!" All Might calls out. I feel bad for not mentioning this sooner.
"I didn't say that was his only Quirk," the hand villain explains. "He also has super-regeneration. Nomu has been modified to take you on even at 100% of your power. He's basically a highly efficient punching bag that hits back."
Everyone gets into a fighting stance. "First, we need to free our method of escape. Get him, Nomu!"
"He's fast," All Might voices, just as the Nomu lunges toward Bakugo and attempts to punch him, sending everyone flying back. Now, Bakugo, Todoroki, Midoriya, Kirishima, and I stand behind All Might, who pushes us out of the way.
"Kacchan!" Midoriya worries as the smoke clears. "Kacchan? Whoa, that's awesome, you dodged him!" Midoriya exclaims, seeing Bakugo standing next to him.
"Shut up, no, I didn't, you damn nerd," Bakugo denies.
"Then how'd you get over here?" Kirishima questions.
"So, he protected the child, huh?" the hand villain sneers.
"These are kids, and you didn't hold back!" All Might yells.
"I didn't have much choice. He was threatening my companion. Besides, these kids are no angels. The plain-looking one—he tried to kill me with a maxed-out punch. What kind of 'hero' does something like that?" the hand villain rants. "You think you can get away with being as violent as you want just because you say it's for the sake of others? Well, you know what, All Might. That pisses me off. Why do people get to decide that some violent acts are heroic, and others are villainous? Casting judgment on what's 'good' and what's 'evil.' You think you're the Symbol of Peace? You're just another government-sponsored instrument of violence. And violence always breeds more violence. I'll make sure the world understands that once you're dead."
"You're nothing but a lunatic," All Might retorts. "Criminals like you... you always try and make your actions sound noble. But admit it, you're only doing this because you like it. Isn't that, right?"
"He's got me figured out," the hand villain mutters.
"We've got them outnumbered," Todoroki points out.
"And Kacchan found the mist guy's weakness," Midoriya adds.
"These dudes may act really tough, but we can take 'em down now with All Might's help," Kirishima declares, his Quirk activating. "Let's do this!"
"Don't attack. Get out of here," All Might commands.
"You would've been in trouble earlier if it weren't for us, remember?" Todoroki points out. "You need our help."
"I thank you for your assistance, but this is different. It's going to be alright. She needs you more than me. Keeping people safe is a hero's first priority," All Might insists.
"But you're too hurt. And you're almost out of..." Izuku begins, worried.
All Might begins punching the Nomu rapidly, each blow sending shockwaves through the air, and he retaliates just as quickly. The two exchange blow after blow, with All Might throwing the Nomu around with incredible force.
"A real heart will always find a way for justice to be served!" All Might declares, leaping into the air and slamming the Nomu down before landing beside him. "Now, for a lesson. You may have heard these words before, but I'll teach you what they really mean. Go beyond! Plus, Ultra!" All Might delivers a powerful punch, sending the Nomu flying into the cone above, electrocuting him before the villain is blasted through the cone, out into the sky, and eventually into space. That was the last thing I saw before blacking out.
Mustafa Monster
So just to confirm, Nedzu did tell the teachers that Izuku is the Monster, right? Because I know that seems self-explanatory with the layout of Izuku’s dorm room, but it would be nice to have that in writing.
Also, how did the teachers react to this revelation in general and Aizawa and All Mighy specifically?
Nedzu did not.
He recognizes Midoriya very well indeed--after all, they're both victims of experimentation. He's concerned that if Midoriya finds out that someone knows because Nedzu told them, it would permanently shatter his trust. All of his actions to aid Midoriya have been behind the scenes, and involving others as little as possible. Obviously, it wasn't really a mistake that Midoriya's dorm room is twice as big as it should be, so he has involved the other staff when necessary, but he's very clear that he won't say why and has good reason
Week 24 (Final Exams - Part 2):
Start!
Monday comes around. Tenya and Momo give Nedzu a list of their finalised teams. He is already aware, of course, as he kept an eye on them through the cameras.
After the written exams, they have half-an-hour to relax, before Aizawa finally explains the exams in depth, everyone now dressed in their costumes.
The goal, as explained before, is to capture the enemy team leader for five minutes using a special capture tape provided to everyone. For those five minutes, the leaders can escape. If they escape, that time held captive will be reset to zero. Other team members can be taken out by capturing them for two minutes. Once those two minutes are up, the capture tape will glow red, and the captive will have to stay still for the rest of the exam.
They will be fighting in City D, where there are many civilian bots provided by Power Loader. They are small and if they are damaged, they will set off an alarm and their eyes will glow red. Damaging a civilian bot will dock points from the individual student.
Speaking of docking points, students will be marked based on their performance. He doesn't explain the specifics of the marking, but does let them know that the better they act, the higher their points. Within the exams, they are only to refer to each other by hero names. Using real names will mark them down a point.
The exam is two hours long, but it doesn't have to last two hours long, nor do they have to fight for the entirety of it, (that would just be asking for the impossible). It will end earlier as soon as the team leader is marked 'out'. Again, if neither are taken out, both teams will lose, not win, meaning nobody goes on the trip.
The students are handed two rolls of capture tape each. "Good luck," Aizawa says once more.
Each group is taken to a starting point. As Aizawa said, the fake city is full of civilian bots, each small with a friendly smile on their faces. None of them want to see what it looks like if damaged. They start on opposite ends of the fake city, and the exam will start when Mic, in a booth, announces it.
They go over their plans first, modifying it to fit in with the city layout, the map provided in their starting point, both highlighting the team bases. Momo creates earpieces for her teammates, who wear them gratefully.
Both teams have decided to make protecting their leader their number one priority but in different ways. They have five minutes to refamiliarise themselves with the plan and modify it accordingly. At the end of the five minutes, it starts.
"STAAAAARRRRRT!"
Revelry in the Dark
As soon as it starts, all of Team A leave the base. Momo is guarded by both Izuku and Kyouka, heading north towards Team B's base. Yuuga and Tooru split off together to the west. Tsuyu and Minoru partner up, heading east. Mezou, Kouji, and Hanta head northwest together.
Meanwhile, everyone in Team B splits up, with only Shouto guarding Tenya. Mashirao and Rikidou go in the same direction, while everyone else travels alone to different locations. Ochako and Denki head off to the base, undeterred.
Fumikage heads straight to the west, using what he learned from Hawks to aid him, having Dark Shadow wrap around him and fly up ahead until he spots two students – Yuuga and Tooru. After spotting them, he assesses where the civilian bots are, before dive-bombing onto their location.
The dive-bombing, of course, creates some noise, and Tooru and Yuuga are able to see him coming and react accordingly. Tooru pushes herself out of the way, moving the light around her costume to turn it invisible. Yuuga uses his navel laser to propel himself out of the way, accidentally taking a civilian bot with him, the blue smile turning into a red frown, blaring some noise. He winces.
Fumikage uses Dark Shadow to soften his landing, and he stands from the small crater his divebomb creates. "Greetings, Kousen. Spotlight." He stances up, ready for battle. "Let us observe who shall win. Light? Or dark?"
"That's quite cheesy, mon ami," Yuuga stutters, civilian bots evacuating at the battle soon to happen. "We're not after you, you see! Perhaps we should leave the fighting for now."
"I shall respectfully decline." With that, Fumikage sends Dark Shadow to attack Yuuga, who dodges in a panic, sweat coating his face. Tooru, unseen, charges at Fumikage, reeling back a fist to punch him, only for her fist to meet the might of Dark Shadow.
"Sorry, lady!" Dark Shadow cheers. "But the bird mutation ain't just for show! You can look invisible, but you should learn about this thing called magnetoreception! Disturbing the magnetic fields is just as loud as yelling."
Tooru backs up, and she smiles. How exciting! An opponent who can figure out where she is! It's good practice, she reckons. With that, she charges back in, forgetting about relying on her invisibility, dodging and weaving between Dark Shadow's attacks. He's hardly affected when she tries to burn him or freeze him, and she gets knocked back time and time again, barely landing any hits against him. But it's so exciting!
Yuuga is a coward. He knows this. The reason he chose Momo's group wasn't because he thought he'd work well with Tooru, or because he wanted to prove himself. It's because he wanted to lose. Team B's group is full of powerhouses with strong quirks, like Shouto, Bakugou, Ochako, Denki, Mina. He knew he'd stand no chance against them, and that's why he chose Momo's group. There's a reason he wanted to lose.
Except, as he watches Tooru fight against Fumikage, (although, 'watch' is hardly the word to use when she's invisible), he feels a deep sense of shame within himself. Here his teammate is, fighting against someone like Fumikage, who is so strong, not a single scratch or bruise on him. Tooru is fighting him, getting hit at every turn, and she gets back up. Charges in again. She fights.
His hands shake, tears already building in his eyes. (He's always been a crybaby.) He shouldn't want to win. He should be doing everything to make sure his team loses. To make sure half of the class doesn't get to go on that trip.
But, as he watches Tooru, he knows he can't. Yuuga may be a sad excuse of a hero, but he refused to be a worse friend. So, he stands up, hands behind his head, and he fires a beam of light straight at Fumikage.
He dodges. Of course, he dodges. Because Yuuga can't do a single thing right.
But then– "Good job, Spotlight!" As Fumikage focused on dodging Yuuga's laser, Tooru dived in further, finally managing to land a hit on Fumikage's jaw. His head flies back, and Dark Shadow retaliates by smashing into Tooru, sending her flying back, right to where Yuuga stands. "Look at that! We managed to land a hit on him!"
"… No. You did. I missed."
Tooru's voice is as peppy as ever, "I only hit him 'cause you fired." She pats him on the back, strong. "Now, let's do that again! Until we get a chance to capture him!"
"Unfortunately for you," Fumikage says, "you won't get a chance." He attacks once more, and Tooru dives in, Yuuga yelping and trying to hide. But Tooru's words replay in his head. He did something. It was pathetic, and yet it somehow helped.
… He shouldn't. He wanted to lose. He shouldn't be trying to win… But he can't leave her hanging. Not like this.
So, he readies himself, and fires again, unsure of where Tooru is, but trusting her to dodge. She does, and she lands another hit. The more Yuuga fires, Tooru notices that Dark Shadow begins to shrink as the lasers pass by. A lightbulb switches on in her head.
"Hey, Spotlight! Do you remember what Kyou said? About how we could work together?" Yuuga thinks. And he remembers. Tooru grins, unseen. "Wanna try it out?"
"My fair lady, you are quite daring!" Yuuga turns his navel, stomach churning dangerously, but adrenaline high. "Whenever you are ready!"
Tooru backs off from Fumikage. He charges in, unnerved by this sudden turn, but he's too late. Yuuga fires a laser, as strong as he can. Tooru steps into it, absorbing all of that radiation and light. Fumikage, stunned, freezes. Yuuga just hit his teammate. On purpose.
Then Tooru begins to glow. "Hey, Tsukuyomi-san, dweller of the dark." She steps forward, Dark Shadow retreating with it. "You wanted to see how light combats the darkness? Here you go!" Light blooms from her body, bright and all encompassing. Dark Shadow screeches at the overwhelming amount of light, Fumikage panicking at the sight.
Yuuga shields his eyes, pale and sweaty. When he opens his eyes, Dark Shadow is little more than a heap on the ground, Fumikage curled up and palming at the ground, blinded momentarily.
"Spotlight! The tape!"
"R-Right!" Yuuga rushes forth, tape at the ready, and he ties Fumikage up, taking a step back a moment later. Tooru, as soon as the tape is around him, jumps on top of him, recalling how Izuku kept her pinned down in the Sports Festival, and recreating it with Fumikage as her victim.
"G-Get off of me!"
"No way," she sings, gleeful. "With that super strong quirk, I bet you've barely worked out. I'm gonna lay on top of you for two minutes! And I know you're not overpowering me!" She turns her head, activating her suit one more. "Spotlight! Be a darling and fire super short bursts around Tsukuyomi here. That way Dark Shadow can't even grow, can he?"
Fumikage doesn't answer. He doesn't have to. Two minutes pass. The tape glows red. Tsukuyomi is out.
-
Rangers – Attack!
As Yuuga and Tooru encounter Fumikage, Tsuyu and Minoru are quickly confronted by Team B's only duo: Mashirao and Rikidou. Tsuyu is on the rooftops as it happens, Minoru following on the pavement. Mashirao and Rikidou are the first to notice Minoru, but neither notice Tsuyu, who spots them.
Mashirao makes the first move, chasing Minoru into a vacated building, where there are no civilian bots to harm. Rikidou follows after. Minoru is deceptively fast, screaming as he runs away, but he's just as quickly cornered in the third story, in a room full of pillars and wooden boxes.
"Uh, hey," Minoru greets, nervous. "So, how's your day going?"
Mashirao doesn't grace that with a response, lunging at Minoru with a tail to his face, only for Minoru to duck, making him miss entirely thanks to his lack of height. He guns for the door, only for Rikidou, powered up with a stick of sugar, to block his way via breaking a pillar and covering the door in rubble. Minoru screams once more, believing now that Tsuyu cannot come to his rescue.
"Fight's on, Purple Rain," Mashirao declares, before both him and Rikidou charge at him. Minoru manages to escape, running around the room. Rikidou chases after him, Mashirao cutting him off at several points. The fight reigns on, Minoru getting struck every so often, while Mashirao and Rikidou are merely sweating with how much they have to run after him.
Eventually, however, Mashirao does manage to strike Minoru in the gut with his tail, sending him flying against the wall. Rikidou picks him up, grinning all the while. Minoru struggles in his grasp, tears in his eyes, but he can't fight as Rikidou begins to tape up his body.
"Wait!" Minoru cries. "Please! Not like this!"
"I could make it worse," Rikidou says, dropping Minoru on the ground. "Just accept your loss."
Mashirao nods. "He has to stay like this for two minutes, right?"
"Yeah."
"Too bad." A tongue shoots past them, wrapping around Minoru and dragging him away. Mashirao and Rikidou turn around. Tsuyu stands on the windowsill, ripping the tape off Minoru's body. "Sorry I'm late, kero. I didn't know which floor you were on."
Minoru sobs. "I-It's okay, Froppy! Just get here faster next time!"
Tsuyu nods. "Sure."
Rikidou lunges at her, attempting to punch her, but she drops inside the building, ducking past Rikidou and wrapping her tongue around him, before throwing him into a pillar. Mashirao jumps in next, tail swinging. She ducks, moving back towards the wall. This time, Minoru attacks, throwing a ball with accuracy, pinning it to Mashirao's tail. Tsuyu ducks once more, and Mashirao pales as his tail latches on the wall behind her. Stuck.
Minoru freaks out, internally. He couldn't do this before – dodging and attacking with two people on him was impossible. But with Tsuyu here, victory is in sight!
Rikidou jumps back into the fight, powered up with three sugar packets… and his IQ takes a hit, attacking mindlessly. Tsuyu has more trouble dodging, as does Minoru, getting hit a good few times, but with Rikidou in this state, he's become oblivious to anything other than his targets. Mashirao struggles against the wall, cursing how sticky Minoru's ball is. As he does, he notices Minoru throwing more balls onto the floor around Tsuyu, who stands still
Mashirao figures it out quickly. "Fornax! Wait!"
But it's all for naught. Rikidou is too mindless to listen, and he charges at Tsuyu. When he does, his foot lands on top of Minoru's trap. He rips his shoes off, but it's too late, as Minoru slaps a ball on his back and Tsuyu delivers a kick to his stomach, sending him on the ground, stuck. And in an uncomfortable position, with one foot stuck too.
Tsuyu wraps Rikidou in capture tape, Minoru sticking his hands to the ground. They turn to Mashirao next. He pales.
Two minutes pass. Rikidou and Mashirao are out.
Rivals Riot
Back to Yuuga and Tooru!
Tooru speaks into her earpiece, declaring that Tsukuyomi is down. A moment later, Tsuyu declares that Fornax and Tailwhip are out. As soon as that's announced, Tooru and Yuuga celebrate, Fumikage watching them blandly on the ground.
"Ah! I didn't expect to win," Yuuga claims, holding his stomach.
"Don't speak like that!" Tooru yells, slapping his back for emphasis. "If you only expect failure, then that's all you'll get!" Yuuga chuckles nervously, still sick. He's sure that if he tried to use his quirk again, he'd throw up immediately.
"Well said, Kousen!" As if to spite him, Mina steps in, beaming. "Now, I believe we have a rematch we never missed?"
Tooru smiles back. "That we do! Spotlight? Let me handle her. You go get some rest, okay?"
Yuuga steps back. "I-If you're sure."
"I am." Tooru cracks her knuckles. "I have a score to settle, after all."
Yuuga steps away. As soon as he does, Tooru charges in, suit turning invisible. It matters not, as Mina spreads her acid all around. Tooru yells in pain as the acid strikes her, burning through her clothes and searing her arms.
Mina grins. "I did some research, Kousen. Acid isn't radiation! I can burn you!"
Tooru breathes in deeply, tears stinging her eyes from the burns on her body. Crap. Her bluff is completely gone now, especially since she instinctively screamed. "Then," she says, voice wavering, "I guess we can both go all out." As soon as she says that, the atmosphere begins to drop. Yuuga shivers, Dark Shadow coming out to provide warmth to Fumikage. A puff of condensation leaves Mina's mouth. "I did my research too… There's a reason I've been training my temperature control. Did you know that liquid travels slower when it's cold?"
Mina readies herself, cold but eager nonetheless. "Good! I'd hate for my rival to fall behind."
The battle begins. Tooru manages to dodge much of Mina's acid, and she grits her teeth as she slams her fist into Mina's acid-coated skin. Mina retaliates with well-placed strikes, finding her acid solid when it strikes the ground, making her unable to slide across the floor.
Their fight is gritty. With every hit Tooru lands, she takes damage. But Mina isn't nearly as sturdy as Tooru, who has built her body for years. All-in-all, it's a pretty even fight, but Tooru has far more constitution, even if their stamina is on par with Mina's years of dance.
Tooru manages to hit Mina hard enough to make her dizzy, and quickly wraps the capture tape around her.
Then Mina dissolves it. She smiles, hand on her head as she tries to regain her bearing. "Sorry, hunny," she says through chattering teeth. "But I don't think I can be captured."
Tooru only grins back. "Then, I'll just have to knock you out!" Mina blanks. Tooru kicks her in the gut, then punches the back of her head, sending her face-first into the floor. She's out-cold. Unconscious. Tooru whoops in victory, and quickly ties her every orifice up, hoping to every God out there that she doesn't wake up before two minutes.
As she lets the temperature return, she quietly cries, as a third person arrives, landing harshly on the ground from the rooftop.
"Yo!" She turns, shaking. Before her stands Eijirou, a wide grin on his face, legs hardened before it returns to its normal muscles. "Be a pal and give my teammate back, won't you?"
Tooru stands, her burns aching and body tired. Three back-to-back fights. Damn. "Hey, Spotlight? Gimme a hand, won't you?"
Yuuga walks to her side. "I'm not sure if even ten hands will help us."
They wouldn't. With Yuuga still half-sick from overusing his quirk against Fumikage and Tooru exhausted beyond belief, they know that they're not emerging from this as the winners. Still.
"But, as you said my fair lady, if we expect failure, then we'll only get failure."
Tooru laughs. "That we will!"
In fairness, they last longer than they expect. Eijirou can't fight lasers, nor can he dodge what he can't see, but he can react to it. Two minutes go by and Mina's tape goes off. Two minutes go by, and Tooru and Yuuga lie in a heap, tape wrapped around them. Knocked-out.
Eijirou emerges as the victor. Acid Trip, Kousen, and Spotlight are now out.
Electric Punk
Denki and Ochako travel south, and they meet Momo, Kyouka, and Izuku halfway, who are travelling north. They collide, Ochako jumping Momo, who moves her cape to block Ochako's hand, and Denki follows after them.
Kyouka and Izuku react quickly enough, chasing after Momo, who creates a copper pole, directing Denki's electricity away from her. Izuku kicks Ochako away from Momo, while Kyouka sends a blast at Denki, who gets sent flying. Civilian bots are fleeing the premises, some glowing red and blasting their alarms after Momo was tackled into them.
"I'm going after Chargebolt!" Kyouka yells, then doesn't wait for an answer, running after Denki. He's landed far away from Momo, Izuku, and Ochako, already wielding his water gun. He shoots, and Kyouka steps out of its path, retaliating with her own projectile. Denki sends a wave of electricity towards her through the ground, and Kyouka blasts her speakers once more.
His jaw drops as the electricity fizzles out, some even recoiling towards him. Kyouka smirks, seeing his shock. "Did nobody tell you? Radio waves can affect electricity. Sorry, but I'm a great match against you."
His grin is limp. "Great match for me, too."
She rolls her eyes. "No chance in hell." With that, she sends another blast at Denki. He decides that playing long-range will only result in failure, and charges at her with a cry of war, metal baton in hand. She's ready for this – it's only logical that he would do this. Still, Kyouka breaks out into a sweat as she finds herself in close-quarters combat. Not her forte.
She manages to dodge a few strikes, sending small blasts in retaliation, but she can't dodge them all. With each strike, Denki runs a small charge of electricity through his baton, shocking Kyouka in tandem. She falls to her knees, when one strikes right into her shoulder, and manages to roll out of the way of the following strike. As she lands, she blasts again, this time small and targeted: right into Denki's wrist. His wrist flies back and, with another blast, the baton soars from his hand, lying in a heap.
He panics, running to get it, only for Kyouka to strike the back of his knees with a blast, making him fall to the ground. She charges at him, one lobe leaving her speaker, and wrapping around Denki's ankle. He instinctively sends a wave of electricity around his body, and Kyouka grits her teeth, blasting her own lobe with her soundwaves, cutting it off before it could travel any further.
She leaves one speaker on, keeping a steady noise going as she pulls Denki towards him. He panics, clawing at the ground, grabbing his water gun, only for her to yank him forth and slap it out of his hands. She lowers the sound little by little, and his heartbeat follows with it, slowing down.
Before she blasts it, loud and piercing. Denki chokes, his head spinning, eyes rolling back. As much as he fights against it, he falls unconscious, with no idea what the hell just happened.
Kyouka grins, wrapping him up with tape, before limping away to get back to Izuku and Momo. Hopefully she didn't rupture his eardrums.
Contact
Back to Ochako, Momo, and Izuku: they're fighting. Momo is using a bo staff, keeping her distance away from Ochako, while Izuku attacks with his katana, stepping back whenever Ochako tries to grab him. All-in-all, it's the most ferocious game of keep-away to be known by mankind.
Ochako's physical abilities have been amped up by Miruko, and she is using every bit of knowledge to aid her. Two-on-One? Who cares!? She sure as hell doesn't. She's learned a lot from friends and Miruko, and she will prove her worth here and now. After all, she already promised to fight Momo again, and she really wants to beat Izuku at least once. This is her chance to kill two birds with one stone.
Izuku slashes at her, and she dodges, bringing her hand to slap his katana, only for Momo to jump in as Izuku draws his katana back, slamming her bo staff into Ochako's gut. Ochako grabs it as soon as it makes contact, and Momo lets it float away, simply creating a new one.
Really now, it's a good fight. Ochako does well against two opponents, none of them giving anyone a chance to breathe. She stands her ground, managing to graze her fingertips against Izuku's sleeve, and accelerating him backwards, far away. He manages to cut the top of his hakama off, leaving his black turtleneck to cover his chest. It takes a while, with carbon fibre woven into it, but he manages.
While Izuku struggles against his own clothes, Ochako and Momo continue their fight. Ochako reaches for Momo, who bats her wrist away, kicking her leg out to trip Ochako up, only for her to jump over it, lunging with her other hand. Momo drops to the ground, creating a pole from her bare stomach, which slams into Ochako. She chokes, landing on the ground, clutching her abdomen.
Momo gets up, rushing at her, one hand holding the capture tape, the other holding her staff. Ochako manages to get herself together before she can reach her, getting her feet under her and kicking off to Momo, tape at the ready. She manages to catch it around Momo's stomach, then taps herself, accelerating herself into the sky, fast, Momo hanging on by the tape.
Momo yelps, realising that she has no choice but to hold onto the tape, or fall and get captured anyway. After all, she can't recover from a landing that fast, and Ochako could touch her while she recuperates. No, she could create a layer of sorbothane to soften the impact. But what if it's not enough–?
As she thinks, Ochako pulls her up by the tape, and taps her too. Now, even she can't event all and create sorbothane to absorb the impact. She swallows nervously, the ground further and further away. "Well played, Uravity."
Ochako smiles down at her. "Thanks, Izanami!" Now, all she has to do is keep Momo in the air for five minutes.
For a moment, Momo considers giving up. She knew she wasn't cut out for this - she's not like Ochako, so strong and unafraid to be herself and look good while doing it.
But.
But.
She already promised to live up to her teammates' expectations. They trust her. And she won't betray that trust.
Momo looks around the area, spotting Kyouka and Denki's ongoing match. An idea flutters into her head, watching as Denki shocks Kyouka with his baton. Though, right now, it's far more dangerous. Right now, she'll just have to trust Izuku. (Not that it's a hard thing to do.)
Meanwhile, Izuku cuts his hakama off, finally, and stops accelerating, his clothes flying past him. He runs back, spotting the shadow on the ground. He looks up to see Momo and Ochako in the air, Ochako slowly wrapping tape around Momo. That simply won't do.
Good thing he added that hookshot.
He hasn't had much practice with it, only latching onto poles and buildings. He hasn't practiced this yet. But, well, no time like the present.
He activates his earpiece, aiming his hookshot up. "Izanami. Don't let Uravity hear me. Just make sure to catch." Momo doesn't answer, but in the sky, she's pretty damn confused. That is, until, a line of reinforced, metal rope flies by her. She doesn't think about it, and only grabs onto it. Ochako jumps in shock. Then Izuku brings the hookshot back down. Momo goes with it.
"Woah!" Ochako yelps, moving back down as Momo severs through the tape via creating blades from her body, only to drop them on the floor. She chuckles. "Guess that plan's gone sky-high." Pun absolutely intended.
"Guess so," Momo agrees. Her hand glistens, and she creates yet another long staff. This time, there's a taser attached to the end. Ochako gulps. "Thank you for giving me a perfect view of Chargebolt and Amplify's match. It inspired me."
Faced against two people, Ochako was doing incredibly well. Faced with two people, one with a taser? She's a goner.
Kyouka arrives back at the scene, and Ochako is wrapped up tightly in capture tape, her fingertips covered in plasters. Kyouka grins. "Yeah. I beat his ass too."
Chargebolt and Uravity are out!
Explosive Temper
Back with Tsuyu and Minoru, they're back on the move, Tsuyu on the rooftops and Minoru on the ground, rushing towards the east, as they decided earlier. Minoru is weary, tired from getting beat up and from using his quirk so much. Tsuyu is far less affected, only sweaty, as she was only hit a few times. Sure, her ribs are aching, but it's nothing bad.
As they travel forth, an explosion sounds, and they both stop, turning around. As they do, Bakugou lands in front of Tsuyu, grinning widely. She realises arbitrarily that it's the first time she's seen him in costume since the second day of school. His gauntlets are now gone, (confiscated after the support team realised how hazardous it was), replaced with a thick armband to propagate sweat.
"Hey," Bakugou greets, then raises his arm. She has that moment to react, before he fires an explosion her way. She dives off the building, into the populated street. Minoru shrieks as he figures out who has come after them, and Bakugou drops to the ground, loud and abrasive. He blasts at the ground to soften his landing, damaging some of the civilian bots, who all run away in fear.
He strikes once more, bringing up rubble as he does. Tsuyu and Minoru are forced to dodge, unable to get close at all. Minoru throws a ball at him, but Bakugou has been stuck watching them for weeks. He knows now to touch it, and instead blasts at it, sending it back. Panicking, Minoru throws more, which Bakugou weaves through, before blasting one at the side, sending it flying at Tsuyu.
She doesn't expect it at all, and thus gets struck in the chest by it. Bakugou follows up by charging at her, getting behind her and sending a small blast at her back. It sears her costume, only slightly stinging her skin, and sends her to the ground, her shoulder stuck to the ground.
Minoru screams, panicking even more, and Bakugou gets to him with speed, blasting him away. He goes back to Tsuyu and wraps her leg with capture tape. Minoru picks himself up and screams into his earpiece, "Backup! I need Backup! Bakugou's here!" Bakugou slaps his hand away from his earpiece, cracks his knuckles, and blasts by his ear, disorientating him and giving him enough time to wrap him up too.
With that done, he shoves Minoru next to Tooru and sits. Back-up, Minoru requested. Sure, Bakugou grins, he'll beat up the back-up too.
Minutes go by, five, ten, fifteen, before the back-up arrives. Mezou and Kouji.
"What?" Bakugou questions, standing up. "Only two of you?"
Mezou grunts. "There were three of us, but Cellophane went on ahead to take down your leader."
Bakugou guffaws. "Good fucking luck! We got Shouto on guard duty. That Cellophane bastard won't last a minute!"
"Then," Mezou stances up, "we'll beat you and back him up."
Bakugou cracks his neck. "Tough words. See if you can back it up."
Mezou lunges first, fast. But Bakugou has been watching for weeks. He knows how fast Mezou is, despite his bigger form. Kouji yells loudly and birds respond to him, diving down at Bakugou to peck at him. He explodes, scaring them away and burning the feathers of a few. In the same instance, he blasts out of Mezou's path, using another blast to send him up and over Mezou, reaching out to blast his back.
Kouji yells once more, summoning rats too this time. Birds and rats attack Bakugou, pecking and biting, messing up his vision and crawling all over him.
"ARGH!" he yells, setting explosions off all around him. "You're pissing me off!" He charges at Kouji, who tries to run away. Mezou, back stinging, rushes back in, managing to strike Bakugou in the jaw and get him away from Kouji. Bakugou growls, swinging back at Mezou, who dodges, grabbing onto Bakugou's arm and pulling him forth while bringing his knee up, right into Bakugou's stomach. He chokes, falling to the ground.
Spotting his chance, Kouji calls out once more. But, as soon as his voice leaves, Bakugou raises both hands, creating a super explosion, drowning out his voice. With the blast radius, Mezou goes flying back, as does Kouji. Kouji, a bit further away from the explosion, is conscious, but Mezou is out-cold. Bakugou turns to Kouji, who shrivels from his attention, and wraps him in capture tape. Kouji can only watch as Bakugou does the same to Mezou.
"Damn," says Bakugou, scowling all the while. "You fuckers… fought. Well. I guess."
Then he takes off, back to their base, leaving Kouji as the only one to have heard a compliment from him. The mute kid. He sure knows who to speak to, huh?
Hot n' Cold
Hanta, as foretold by Mezou and Kouji, arrives at the base. Really, he's not sure if he got here too early for the plan or not, but he's here now. The plan was to head all the way to their designated directions, then head to the enemy base, taking out anyone they meet along the way.
As it stands, Hanta is apparently the only one who has gotten here in time. Tooru and Yuuga aren't here, Tsuyu and Minoru needed back-up with Bakugou, Mezou and Kouji went to back them up, and Izuku, Kyouka, and Momo are away.
To be fair, he and Tsuyu are the only ones who can travel fast in a dense city, with their respective quirks. Still, that doesn't change how much he wants to cry.
Why? Well, it's simple.
There's only one guard with Tenya. The guard in question? Shouto. He stands outside of the entrance, not moving an inch. Momo and Izuku suspected that Shouto would stay guard, as he's skilled in both defence and offence, but it didn't make him any easier to face. Theoretically, he could sneak past him, but highly doubts that the son of Endeavour wouldn't pick up on him.
(Dammit, he's screwed. He should have written his will already.)
"I know you're there." AH! He knew it! "Come out."
… There's no use playing dumb. Hanta takes a deep breath, before leaving the corner he hid behind. "Hey, Shouto. Any chance you could let me pass?"
Shouto blinks. "No." Hanta blinks, and he's covered in ice. Dammit. His teeth chatter, and his limbs would shiver if they had room to. Not even leaving his place, Shouto holds out his tape, and sends out a small bit of ice, taking the tape with it. It slaps on Hanta's face. Guess that also counts as 'captured', huh? It must, because the tape glows red two minutes later. Shouto melts the ice, leaving Hanta on the floor.
"Man," a familiar voice enters. Eijirou walks to Shouto's side, eyes on the water on the floor. "You went overboard."
"I did not," Shouto rebukes. "If I let his elbows out, I would have been in trouble." While that is an awfully high compliment, Hanta distinctly recalls how one-sided it was. Eijirou only laughs, patting Shouto on the shoulder. Shouto frowns. "I wasn't joking."
"Didn't think you were," Eijirou assures.
Hanta has the urge to sob as he hears explosions in the distance and– yep. Bakugou drops by Shouto and Eijirou. Dammit, that means Mezou, Kouji, Tsuyu, and Minoru are out.
"Welcome home," Shouto deadpans.
Bakugou sniffs. "This ain't home." He looks down at Hanta, and snorts. "Man, I didn't think you were actually stupid enough to come alone." Hanta wants to yell at him, but he quickly remembers that he's not allowed to move after being captured. "Shit, is this everyone?"
Eijirou nods. "Guess so. I took down, er, Kousen and Spotlight. They got to Tsukuyomi and Acid Trip."
Bakugou rolls his neck. "I got fucking, uh, Froppy, Purple Rain, Tentacole, and Anivoice."
Shouto looks at Hanta. "Only Cellophane has come here. That means Kyou and Amplify are left with Izanami. Unless Chargebolt and Uravity got to them first. If they did, I doubt we'd still be here."
"Ding-ding. Full marks." Hanta doesn't even need to look to see. That's Kyouka's dry wit, after all. "They've been captured now."
Bakugou grins, slamming an open palm against his fist. "So, three-v-one, huh? That's fine by me! I'll take you all on by myself."
"There's no need," Shouto states, before icing the door behind him shut, covering the entire front of the building, ignoring Tenya's yell of indignition. "I'll take Kyou."
"No, actually," Kyouka retorts, stepping up. "You'll be taking me." Shouto narrows his eyes at her, and she lashes out with her lobes, throwing Shouto aside to the right alley.
Kyouka charges after him. Shouto is already annoyed – he joined Tenya in order to fight Izuku, not her. He sends out a large iceberg, and Kyouka grins almost manically. She grunts as she stabs her lobes into the ice. A few pounds is all it takes, before the ice shatters. Shouto's eyes widened. Once again, he's found someone who can destroy his ice with ease.
Good thing he can use his fire now. At least, that's what he thinks. But then Kyouka plugs both lobes in, aiming directly at his hands, and fires. The sound waves crash into his hand, his flames flying back towards him. Kyouka smirks, "Sorry, but I've been training against fire since the USJ. Guess I'm just a good opponent for anyone with an elemental quirk."
Shouto levels his gaze on her. "That's fine," he says. "I hope you don't mind training with me in the future."
Kyouka huffs. "I'm honoured." The fight reigns on.
As much as Kyouka can combat Shouto's quirk, it's not invincible. She takes elemental damage. She gets burned. She gets slammed in the stomach by ice, frozen by it. Her ears ache with the cold. Shouto, now using both sides of his quirk, doesn't have to worry about being frostbitten or overheated. So, while Kyouka is able to put up a good fight, Shouto goes untouched for much of it.
That is, until he uses his fire once more and Kyouka's blast is even louder, even stronger than before. Shouto stumbles back, ears ringing. He's disorientated. Kyouka doesn't stop there, using one speaker to project her heartbeat as loud as she can go, the other piercing into the ground, sending it through the ground. The ground beneath Shouto trembles, but he can't tell if it truly is or if it's all in his head.
Keeping it up, Kyouka approaches as slowly as she can, and Shouto groans, the noise becoming louder as she does, and he slams his hands as hard as he can against his ears. He falls to his knees, and Kyouka smirks, grabbing her tape. As she reaches out to wrap him up, he reaches out, grabbing her arm. Her eyes widen, spotting blood coming from his ears.
Oh, shit. He ruptured his own eardrums. Who does that!?
Shouto does. He pulls her arm over his shoulder, throwing her over. In doing so, her lobe rips free from the ground. The floor no longer trembling, Shouto goes to swing at Kyouka.
And misses.
Kyouka feels a beat of hope. He's still disorientated, and his ruptured eardrum only makes it worse. She charges back at him, swinging wide, and manages to strike his jaw. He winces, and sends out a wave of ice. It knicks Kyouka's arm, but mostly misses thanks to his vertigo.
With a cry of war, she runs at him, catching the tape around his stomach and dragging him to the floor, wrestling to get on top of him. With his eardrum ruptured, she can't use the same technique she used on Denki, but she can try to brute force her way through. So, keeping a stream of noise around them, she keeps her tape wrapped around Shouto, arm at his neck, the force of her soundwaves destroying his ice and extinguishing his fire before it can grow.
She struggles against him, crying out. Two minutes feels more like two hours, before the tape finally glows red, and both she and Shouto crumple.
"You," says Shouto, louder than necessary, "did good!"
Kyouka nods against his chest. "You too!"
Rock and a Hard Place
When Kyouka throws Shouto aside, Momo creates a pile of rope, throwing it around Eijirou. She pulls him towards her, further down the alley. "And I'll be fighting you."
Eijirou grins, landing on his feet and hitting his fists together. "Fine by me!"
Momo starts, using the same tactic she used for Ochako, and striking at him with a taser. He smacks it aside, lunging at her with hardened arms. She manages to step back and out of the way of his swings, throwing her hand under his chest, palm facing up, and creating a pipe shooting straight up. Eijirou manages to react in time, softening his arms to harden his chest. Still, the impact has him stumbling back.
Momo discards the pipe, instead creating a grappling hook. She shoots it up, attaching to a building, dropping down a single item as she rises and forming a visor around her eyes. Eijirou panics, first thinking that it's a bomb. To an extent, he's right. He hardens his body, able to do so for a short second, but it's for naught. After all, it's a flash bomb. It goes off, blinding Eijirou, and Momo drops back down, eyes protected by the visor.
She creates a net weighed down by tungsten as she falls, dropping it on top of Eijirou's body. He flounders, black spots appearing in his vision, before he hardens his arms and cuts past the netting. Momo greets him with tape to his face, but it's easily taken off before he can truly be captured.
Momo moves back, and nearly trips over Hanta as she does. Hanta wants to apologise, but he can't, both because he's supposed to stay still and because Eijirou has already shoved Momo further down the alley. She yells out in pain as his hardened arm makes contact. His vision isn't entirely clear, but he can see enough.
But, tripping over Hanta does give her a neat idea. Her arm sparkles with creation, but Eijirou lunges in, spotting it, and punches her hand away before can make it. Momo can't make it as fast as she can make other stuff, because she doesn't remember the exact mechanics. If she wants to search it up on her watch, she'll need the time to do it. And she doubts Eijirou will fall for the flashbomb again.
As she dodges between Eijirou's strikes, using a staff to aid her, she urges herself to think, Momo! In the background, a wall of ice appears in her peripherals. Oh. That'll work.
When Eijirou lashes at her, she doesn't bother dodging, allowing it to hit. As his fists lands, Momo throws her hand out, her palm sparkling, and metal plating protrudes, building a large wall in front of her. Eijirou bashes into it, and Momo is given a bit more time. She creates her item of choice, filling it with her prepared one, and aims at the dent in the metal wall.
Surely enough, Eijirou breaks through it, and Momo fires her tape gun. The capture tape lands directly onto Eijirou's chest and, before he can rip it out, Momo throws her hands out harshly, creating super glue from her hands as she does, and it spreads across the tape.
It's not an invincible tactic. She knows. So, while Eijirou struggles to get it off, prioritising that, his chest burning with the application of the super glue and from his trying to rip it off his bare skin, Momo dives forward, discarding her tape gun, both hands sparkling. Eijirou manages to pull the tape off his body, and looks up to see Momo, holding a bomb in one hand, her other hidden behind her back.
Eijirou instinctively covers his eyes. Really, he should have covered his nose and mouth. Because Momo's bomb is full of chloroform. She places her gas mask over her face, and detonates it. Within seconds, Eijirou falls unconscious, and Momo places her capture tape around him. They got two for a reason, after all.
With Eijirou taken care of, she retrieves her other roll of tape from the gun, and marches back to the enemy base.
Blessed versus Hollow
Bakugou licks his lips, dry for a reason he can't tell. "Then, I guess you wanna fight me," he says to Izuku, who only smiles nervously. He walks around, the left alley, katana in hand. Bakugou swallows a thick lump in his throat, and he tries to grin. "Fine! But remember: you asked for this."
Their fight starts with Bakugou swinging. And Izuku has known Bakugou for years. He also knows that Bakugou always starts with a right swing. So, he ducks beneath it, moving behind Bakugou. He lets one hand go from his katana, and swings an open palm as hard as he can at Bakugou's back. Bakugou stumbles for a moment, before swivelling around, sending another blast at Izuku.
Izuku uses the blunt edge of his katana to knock his arm away, ducking in and elbowing Bakugou in the gut. In the same movement, Bakugou moves his hand up, blasting Izuku to the side of his face. Izuku hisses, pulling back. He trains his katana towards Bakugou, frowning.
Bakugou grins. It's strained. "What's wrong? Realise you picked wrong!?" He rushes at him, and blasts at thin air as Izuku steps back, slicing his katana through the explosion at a distance. Bakugou growls. "Come on! You wanted to fight me! Fight back!" He pushes on. A short, controlled blast at Izuku's chest.
Izuku bashes his wrist up with his katana's handle, then swings in the next instance, leveling his katana at Bakugou's neck, frown still present. "You're holding back. Why are you holding back?"
Bakugou's eye twitches. He doesn't answer, instead knocking Izuku's katana away and charging in.
"Why are you holding back!?" Izuku yells, kicking out, his foot landing on Bakugou's chest. He grabs onto Izuku's ankle and throws him away.
Izuku lands on his feet. "Like there! You could have blasted my ankle instead of throwing me! Why are you holding back!?"
Bakugou is silent, teeth grit, and he rushes at Izuku, lashing out and blasting at his face. Izuku swings his katana up, slicing through it again, and barging into Bakugou with his shoulder.
"Why!?"
"I don't wanna hurt you!" Bakugou finally reveals, shaking. "There! You happy now!?"
"Of course not!" Izuku moves into Bakugou's personal space, bashing his head into Bakugou's jaw. "You never cared before! Why do you care now!?"
"Because!" He punctuates with a louder, larger explosion, forcing Izuku to reel back, heat kissing his skin. "It was never okay, was it!? That's what everyone says! Then you go ahead and decide to fight me!? Why!?"
Izuku grabs his hookshot, firing past Bakugou's head. He flinches away from it, and Izuku steps in, katana reeled back, low. He brings it up, and Bakugou just barely moves back in time, the blade catching on his shit and tearing it open. "Because I wanted to! I wanted to prove to myself that I'm not that defenceless, weak, pathetic Deku I used to be!"
Bakugou growls, throwing another explosion at him. This time, it strikes Izuku's shoulder directly, and he nearly drop his katana as his arm drops from the force and heat. It's been a while since he's experienced Bakugou's explosions.
"Ain't it obvious you're not!?"
Just like that, Izuku stops, eyes wide.
Bakugou scowls. "Dammit, do you really need me, of all people, to spell it out!? You're not the same as middle school! You're in the student council, you survived the USJ, you got fourth place in the Sports Festival. Everyone fucking respects you! As if you're the same nerd from Aldera!"
Izuku lowers his katana, taken back. Bakugou scoffs, hiding his face in his hands, and he groans, loud and full of frustration. "I've had to spend months watching you get stronger. Watching all of you fuckers get stronger. Months spent with a shrink, makin' me question everything I've ever done, everything I've ever believed! Fricking Present Mic had to spell it out for me! You think I'm blind!?"
Stricken, Izuku can't respond. He doesn't know how to. For once, his brain completely fails him.
Because Bakugou removes his hands and there are tears in his eyes. "So, there. I didn't come into this expecting to fight you. 'Cause I didn't want to. The only reason I joined this team is 'cause I wouldn't feel right on your team."
Izuku breathes out shakily. "That's insulting, you know. I chose to fight you, so you should have at least honoured that by giving your all."
Bakugou observes him. And he nods. "Fine. Whatever. I'll give it my all now."
But Izuku only sighs, sheathing his katana with his left hand, his right hanging limply. "There's no point."
"HAH!?"
He waves a hand. "When I slapped your back earlier, I slapped some capture tape on it." Bakugou's eyes blow open. He struggles to look behind him, and he spots a flash of red. He turns back to Izuku, gaping. Izuku smiles wryly. "Maybe next time. If there is a next time."
Izuku walks away and Bakugou falls on his arse. He tilts his head back. And he laughs.
Speedster
Tenya was prepared for many scenarios. He wasn't foolish enough to think nobody could ever get past Shouto – he was prepared for anything. But, as Kyouka breaks down Shouto's wall of ice, Momo and Izuku her side, he can firmly say he did not expect this.
Izuku? He was hoping to face him. That's the reason he requested Izuku to join a different team. Kyouka? Unexpected. He didn't realise she would stand a chance against Shouto. And, going by the burns and the fragments of ice on her, she was the one to win against him. Momo? Definitely unexpected. The whole reason Ochako and Denki went to the enemy base was because he expected her to stay there, not join the battle.
He didn't join the battle, because he didn't want to risk losing like that. He didn't want to risk going into battle with, say, Minoru – a good match against his quirk – and lose in such a way.
"Give it up!" Momo demands, breathing harshly, bruised and battered. "All of your companions have been defeated!"
She's not the only one hurt. Izuku has many minor burns on his body, his right arm useless. Kyouka still shakes from frost and burns dotted on her skin.
Nevertheless, Tenya will not insult his friends by taking them lightly. Even now, he's sure they'd put up a mighty battle. As such, "I refuse," he takes his stand. "Giving up so easily will only bring dishonour upon my comrades! I will fight!"
It's not an easy fight, not at all. Tenya's right to take them seriously.
Even injured, Kyouka can still blast sound waves at him, disorienting him. Even injured, Momo can still act as an ample, versatile threat. Even injured, Izuku can still act as a good back-up.
Kyouka is too exhausted to move around, only attacking from long-range. Izuku's shoulder is too injured to swing his katana, and he settles for using his hookshot to direct Tenya back to Momo. Momo is the only one fighting up-close, settling with her trusty rapier, battling speed with speed. It helps that Izuku and Kyouka cut off Tenya's escapes, forcing him to battle her up-front.
He manages to land a good few hits, and Momo returns them in kind, though they're not nearly as strong as Tenya's. It all comes to an end, however, when Momo forms a can of spray paint, coating Tenya's visor with it. He takes his helmet off, a short-term solution, but that turns out to be a mistake when Momo creates dust, throwing it into his eyes, and then, with all the strength they have left, Izuku and Kyouka jump him with rolls of capture tape, keeping him down.
When he tries to boot his engines to escape, Momo relies on an old tactic, spraying liquid nitrogen onto them, forcing him to shut them off, lest they explode.
He struggles for five whole minutes, Momo joining on the dogpile, keeping the tap secured to his body until–
"IT'S OVER!" Mic yells, jazzed beyond belief. "INGENIUM HAS BEEN CAPTURED! TEAM A WIIIIINS!"
Notes:
OOOOOH BOY! THIS ONE IS A LONG ONE! 8.4K TO BE EXACT!! It was originally going to be split into two parts, but I decided to write it into one. You're welcome :))
I gave everyone their time in the limelight this chapter. Before I get another oh-so-smart anon full of sarcasm and barely-disguised insults, read over the fights one more time. They make sense. I made sure of it.
Bakugou is getting there. He still doesn't know what he's supposed to become, but he'll learn as the series goes on. And, NO, I do not intend to create any sort of friendship with Izuku. But, at the same time, Izuku needs to have that closure. Until Bakugou gets his head sorted, however, he's not getting it
Oh, Tenya. Taken down by the good ol' dust in your eyes followed by a dogpile. What a lad. But, in all seriousness, did you expect him to be able to take down three people all at once? Didn't think so!
Conclusion:
Aizawa debriefs everyone
The civil war starts
Team A vs Team B. Winners: Team A
A sneer tugged at his lips, hands lifting to shoulder level long fingers dropping his weapons. Both eyes focused on the villain's knife, tensing as it nears that all to blood-filled artery inches below the mandible. Hatred tinged his purple eyes, feet stalled against the dusty hallways linoleum flooring.
“They’re not a threat to you, let them go…before you make your sentence an even longer one.” His tone was even, not a tremble in it as he kept his eyes focused on the villains half covered face. The villains emotions emulated Shinso’s it seemed as his golden eyes turned icy, narrowing as he let out a disgusted huff but no response. Shinso took one step closer while the other man took two back. “The cops already know Lucard, they’ll be arresting your buddies in your hide out as we speak. Other heroes have already taken down your friends…let them go and I’ll let you try to fight this out.”
Shinso didn’t know who had told the villain not answer him vocally, perhaps there was a mole on his side, but he had bigger things to worry about as Lucard pressed the knife down. Once again the hero stopped dead in his tracks, the pearly beads of red dripping down the silvered edge sending cold down his spine. Dammit, was his fleeting thought before he opened his mouth, speaking softly. Lucard hesitated back meeting a wall. Shinso did not risk it though his training with Aizawa screamed at him to use the split second to throw out his wraps in an attempt to yank the knife arm away from him. This villain had proved one too many times to have near supernaturally sharp reflexes, the fifty-fifty chance of who would move quicker was not one he could risk.
“Just put the knife…down…” The low dry tone hummed out of his throat, hiding any of his internal desperation in this moment as he lowers his chin. He didn’t want to take risks, he didn’t LIKE to take risks. The adrenaline junkies were Sero, Kirishima and Monoma not him, but here he was dipping into that reservoir of internal strength, calculating exactly each of his next moves-CLATTER. The knife had hit the floor, all at once both men sprang into action. Lucard still not responding to a word Shinso was saying shoved away and booked it for the stairwell. He was fast, but Hitoshi had memorized the layout of this entire block of buildings. The only thing that slowed him down was throwing his wraps out to catch your falling body before you could limply crash to the ground. For the first time a growl of rage left him, and after you were down he vaulted the stairwell.
Rolling as he hit the floor two stories below Shinso called out again to Lucard using his AVC mask, in the tone of Lucards best friend. Wide eyed the villain spun around desperately seeking his ally. That was all it took, and as Hitoshi took him down in one fell swoop the answer became obvious. Out of all the heroes to take this villain down he perhaps was the least effective, empathy moving through him despite his anger for the plight you had been placed through. Lucard could have fought him off, could have stopped him possibly. But at the sound of his friends voice the villain had turned and lifted his hands to sign a warning a plee for his friend to run away. Of course his quirk was useless here, Lucard was mute.
The moment of empathy however was fleeting, once he was down Hitoshi’s next thoughts were of you. Hanging the villain up in a submission tie to keep him from running away Shinso took off running. Radioing their success as he rushed to your side, memory of the dripping red line upon your neck haunting his every moment. Nothing would stop him from scooping your limp form back up into his arms, it was time for a vacation. Aizawa was right he needed some time off and he intended to take however much he needed, so he could stand beside you and be yoru support as you recovered from this.
You were strong he knew, a hero who would bounce back from this harrowing experience, but right now as he clung to your limp body and carried you to safety Hitoshi felt like even his gentle touch would shatter you like glass. He was so proud of you for holding out under the villains grasp for those few days. It was time, you could relax now this time he would be your hero. This story of your lives together was just beginning and he swore he would protect it with every fiber of his heart and soul. It was the right moment for the rolls to reverse, he was a pro now and it was his time to be a hero, your hero.
