Apart from being a piece of apocalyptic fiction and an investigation of a parallel world, The Watchmen is also a murder story and a detective story. Right from the first issue you have this obsessive, paranoid, psychotic detective working through a doomed America trying to find somebody who’s killed the Comedian.

After months of finding and ordering parts from Bricklink, I’ve finally finished my purist Watchmen custom minifigures, from the 1986 comic series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

My favorite part of Watchmen is when Rorschach starts singing his own theme song and it's just "Love Shack" by the B-52s with different lyrics.

"This city's afraid of me, I've seen its true face/ And it's just about to break!!! The gutters will run, the vermin will scream, So go on and bring your jukebox money!

Chorus: The Rorschach is a vigilante who/ Whispers, 'I won't save you!'

If there was a pivotal period in the evolution of DC Comics, it would have been 1985-1986. DC SPOTLIGHT #1 recapped CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS to that point, and featured early previews of WATCHMEN, what would become THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, and Alan Moore’s game-changing run on SWAMP THING, among other things.
