2. a kiss where it doesnt hurt
this is part of the new series that i am writing. i took the concept and prompts from yurawiththegoodhair on ao3, and i will be writing them for the couples that i see most fitting for the respective prompt. i hope you like them!
summary: second part of the 50 kisses series, a kiss where it doesnt hurt.
pairing: conrad laursen x alana diaz.
conrad and alana character descriptions
word count: 629
lowercase intended!
-----------------------------------------------------------
“im going to die” alana cried. tears pricked from her eyes as she laid in pain.
“everything is alright, lana. you’ll be okay.” conrad caressed her hair softly, trying to soothe the pain.
“it hurts, connie” the girl whined.
everything hurt and she felt her life slipping away from her body slowly, she could see the light.
or so she said.
everything went wrong for her that week. she suffered from a really bad undertow while surfing one of the best swells of the year, which left her body extremely sore. of course, this happened two days before she had to get in a plane and fly halfway across the world to go visit her boyfriend in his home country for the first time. then, it turns out that she was not made for the copenhagen weather and got a horrible cold that made her throat sore and gave her a runny nose. and since life for her is always great, she got her period a day after arriving.
now, she found herself laying on her boyfriend's bed, her muscles, throat, and head aching and with a completely blocked nose. He sat on the edge of the bed, scratching her head lightly while she whined.
“you’ll be fine, it will pass in like three days” conrad let out a chuckle.
seeing his girlfriend be in so much pain hurt him, since he would never want to see her suffer. however, she was being so incredibly dramatic that it was a bit funny.
“you don't understand, conrad. everything hurts” she complained, a fresh set of tears falling from her eyes.
“im sorry, babe. can i do something to make it better?” he asked, looking at her adoringly.
that soothed the pain slightly. she couldn't believe that the first time she went to his home country, after not seeing him for months, she was that sick. everything hurt and she swore she had seen a light, but having conrad there for her, taking care of her and looking at her so dearly warmed her heart immensely.
“i want cuddles and kisses, but i don't want to get you sick so you need to leave some space for jesus” she was so mad that she couldn't just cuddle him and smother him with kisses like she had initially planned to.
“im okay with getting sick, you’ll just have to take care of me.” he stuck his tongue out to her jokingly.
“nope, you can’t get sick because then we can’t do anything.” alana complained, she was conscious that she was contradicting herself and possibly acting like a child, but she was in too much pain to care.
conrad chuckled softly, humoured by his girlfriend's whines. he thought about it for a second. if he couldn't distract her with kisses since she wasn't going to let him kiss her so he wouldn't get sick, he had to think of something else.
a slight surprise was laced to her eyes as he kissed her hand softly, she watched as he repeated the same process on her other hand before lacing his fingers with hers once again.
“what was that?” the girl asked. kissing hands is not a weird concept, but he had never done it to her and had surprised as well as confused her.
“i thought i would kiss where it doesn't hurt, but i couldn't think of any other places” his cheeks were slightly pink with embarrassment.
she awed and squeezed his hand.
“i mean, your feet don't hurt but im not about to do that” he chimed in “unless you're into that” he joked, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
“eww!” she exclaimed, laughing while pushing him off of her, making him laugh as well.
in the end, he succeeded in distracting her.
-----------------------------------------------------------
authors notes:
im writing this bc im in her exact situation than alana except im not in copenhagen or have boyfriend to take care of me and i also want conrad to come make me feel better.

Join us as we celebrate the films that we love starting with Movies That Make You Want to HUG the Weekend! The List, in no particular order:
Tenet In Her Shoes John Wick Chicago It's Complicated Train to Busan Honorable Mention: Call Me By Your Name, I Am Legend
Tenet, 2020 From the opening scene, Tenet is an electrifying blend of heart-pounding action and mind-bending science fiction. Director Christopher Nolan delivers a captivating and visually stunning film. The Protagonist, portrayed by John David Washington, is a complex figure who moves through the film asking the same questions we have as viewers. The cast is fantastic, and there's this one unforgettable scene towards the end where The Protagonist has a revelatory, emotionally charged moment with Neil, Robert Pattinson's character, that leaves you heartbroken. I love this movie and will watch it again and again! -Alana
In Her Shoes, 2005 Often overlooked in the flurry of rom-coms released in the early aughts, director Curtis Hanson’s In Her Shoes exists as one of the most endearing films of the genre. In this 2005 gem, the film’s leads, Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz, and Shirley MacLaine, each deliver performances that are beautifully nuanced in telling the story of two estranged sisters finding their way back to each other, and themselves, after reconnecting with their estranged grandmother. Yes, this is a story about love - the unexpected ways we might find it, learning to permit ourselves to experience it, how it profoundly changes us, and what we are willing to do to rebuild it after it’s been broken - but this film is about so much more than that. In Her Shoes pulls the curtain back on how grief and mental illness change our relationships in ways that can reverberate through generations and how we might be able to pick up the pieces and build something beautiful for ourselves. This movie fundamentally changed me when I first watched it. I love watching movies exploring the depths of sisterhood, both loving and complicated, and this one just means so much to me. -Victoria John Wick, 2014 Keanu Reeves, a fan favorite, is dynamite in the John Wick series. The movies are action-packed, well-acted, and feature a simple yet intriguing storyline. Whenever I'm in the mood for an exciting film with snappy dialogue and an interesting cast, I always turn to a John Wick film. Among the series, the original John Wick is my go-to because what's more exhilarating than a grieving hitman seeking vengeance for his puppy and his car? I mean, if "you've effed with the wrong one" was a person, it'd be John Wick. I'm here for it! -Alana Chicago, 2002 Based on the 1926 play and 1975 stage musical of the same name, 2002’s Chicago is a soaring accomplishment from director Rob Marshall. This musical crime dramedy tells the spellbinding tale of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, both inmates on Murderess’ Row at Cook County Jail, as they chase celebrity and notoriety while awaiting trial. What is at once a tour-de-force of its own merit is also an enchanting homage to its source material, this film is one I simply cannot get enough of. The performances from Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, and Queen Latifah are electrifying and completely mesmerizing, each wholly embodying their lauded characters. Aside from the spectacular acting each delivers in this film, the musical performances are simply out of this world, with credit to the original music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb respectively, of course, but the production comes to life in a whole new way on the big screen. I watch this film a few times a year and highly recommend keeping the soundtrack in your rotation. -Victoria It’s Complicated, 2009 Oscar-nominated writer and director Nancy Meyers followed up a legendary four-film run (The Parent Trap, What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday) with 2009’s rom-com It’s Complicated. Starring Meryl Streep, with charming supporting performances from Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, this film follows a 10-years divorced baker as she navigates life as an empty-nester and discovers what might be next for her - which appears to include an affair with her now-married ex-husband (Baldwin) and a blossoming romance with the architect remodeling her home (Martin). This film explores the complications of divorce and moving on, while highlighting the joys and pits of rediscovering yourself, especially in your golden years. While this film was met with mixed reviews from critics, there is an undeniable sense of the Nancy Meyers charm that makes it the cozy and beloved film it is to me. Like any Meyers film, the set design is a character and story to discover in itself and perhaps one of my favorite elements of this movie - it’s an aesthetic feast! I have loved this movie for years and it’s one of those movies that pulls on your heartstrings, tickles your funny bone, and makes you feel hopeful for the future by the final scene. -Victoria
Train to Busan, 2016 Train to Busan is an electrifying and almost unmatched zombie film. Like any good movie, it has emotional depth. Your investment in the characters and their survival catapults you from scene to scene. Yeon Sang-ho’s directorial choices build the tension and suspense required for the film’s propulsion, but he also incorporates space for you to catch your breath. And with this plot, you'll need it. Gong Yoo and Ma Dong-seok are a great pair, using their ingenuity and sheer power to fight their way through zombie hoards. Whenever I'm looking for something exciting to watch, this film never fails to deliver. -Alana

RULES.
001. hi! my name is ellie. i'm 23 and use she / they pronouns. a few things to know about me and this blog: i'm neurodivergent, which means activity may be spotty due to my attention span. this blog is strictly 18+ and mutuals only. if i follow you, it's because i actively want to write with you!
002. this one goes without saying, but any asshole behavior on the dash won't be tolerated. homophobia, racism, transphobia, antisemitism, misogyny, or any form of hatred will result in a block. anon hate and dash drama will result in a block. i reserve the right to block in order to curate my space.
003. there are LOTS of muses featured on this blog, most of which come and go via fixations. some may be added, some may be removed, but i'll always let my mutuals know!
004. i don't have any hard DNIs as far as faceclaims and characters go. i just ask that you practice common sense; if a character is bigoted in any way, i won't interact. if an actor/celebrity is generally what i deem problematic, i won't interact. always feel free to ask me to specify according to your muses.
005. some of my characters are not amazing people. most are flawed in some way, shape, or form. it's important to note that muse does NOT equal mun. i don't condone certain actions my characters might practice. if, for some reason, you don't want to view content from a certain muse, let me know and i can create a blacklist tag for you.
006. interactions are best kicked off with me by sending prompts to my inbox, and vice versa. i'm open to plotting, but i ask that you please excuse any inherent awkwardness if you slide into my IMs. my discord is also available for you upon request.
007. this blog may contain usfw content. viewer discretion is advised. i will write usfw content with those i feel comfortable with, and i'll ALWAYS tag any usfw content with usfw tw. general warnings for alcohol / drug use, trauma, etc, apply. if there's anything you want me to tag, let me know!
008. shipping will be based on chemistry for the most part. please don't force ship or automatically assume ships! again, the best way to test the waters is with an inbox prompt. if i see our characters potentially being romantically involved, that's a great first step towards establishing chemistry. be mindful of each character's stated sexuality.
009. as mentioned before, my attention span is extremely limited. i may respond to some things quickly and others may take a while. it's never personal. if you want me to respond to something and it's been a minute, give me a friendly nudge!

Julio's Biological Index Introduction and Entry One (Humans)
Greetings dear reader. You have either just, or very shortly will have, made the best decision of the year by purchasing this book. For it is written by the one and only: Julio Alberto Rodriguez famed Khmerian explorer! In my thirty years as a traveler I have seen near every nook and cranny of the beautiful world that we dwell in. I am certain that my reputation precedes me, yet for those out there living in a cave, let me assure you that I am without a doubt the most fit to author a textbook such as this.
For this guide presents a wealth of information on all the creatures living in our fine world. From civilized man to terrifying monster and all that falls between. I have not just studied these creatures but, in regards to the sapient ones, sat down and had a conversation with near all of them. On some occasions I may even included snippets of personal interviews I have performed. Who wouldn't want to know what the average Ogre thinks about Gale politics?
Accompanying me on this journey are several lovely assistants that I would like to briefly recognize. The famed traveler and hero Jadwiga of Wyclaw, the esteemed doctor Paracelsus, the erudite theologian Salazar Banquo Henri, the archeologist Nikola von Nikola, the talented alchemist Ichtaca Diaz & my long time friend and traveling companion Peke Alana. Each have provided a collection of annotations throughout my work which I have transposed to the complete edition. In some entries I have included extra comments from knowledgeable allies.
Why here is an example now
My friend, I consider your research to be an incredible process, however, I find when discussing the species who make up society you focus too much on their archetypal members. Painting a picture that does not account for how broad people can be.
You make a point, my friend, however I must disagree. Certainly it is true that any thinking being is capable of choosing their own path. I find it most effective to talk about the average life of one group, based on differently worldly cultures. Otherwise every chapter would be but a list of biological facts and a note saying "they vary greatly from one to another." It would not be particularly helpful information. Though I do find your point important. Allow me to add a disclaimer.
Disclaimer: This work is speaking in broad strokes and much is not applicable on an individual basis. Just to the general category. I, Julio Alberto Rodriguez, take no responsibility for any information considered inapplicable.
Now allow us to begin my book properly.
-Julio Alberto Rodriguez
Entry One (Humans)
My mentor once said that any proper journey starts with the familiar, so I have chosen to open this index with something that should be familiar to near all readers. The ever adaptable humans. A group that can be found in fair numbers everywhere but, at least no longer, have a home of their own.
Traditional legends say that when the gods created man humans were their first success. I can not speak for the veracity of such tales, for I know not the affairs of the gods, but this belief had resulted in the phrase humanoid being used to describe those with similar forms. Among some terms such as manoid or aelflike have become popular ways of dehumanizing the word. I will touch more on this later, but shall note my own preference for the term humanoid.
For what it is worth, humans as the genesis species of civilization is well supported within theological text going back millennia.
But less supported in archeological records. There is little evidence of human civilizations significantly predating those of other species. Given our lack of a homeland now it stands to reason we are among the later of species.
It is true that humans are biologically similar to many other species but I will save further comment for when Sir Julio addresses it more directly.
A sentiment often expressed by the uneducated and boorish is that humans are wholly average, lacking in uniqueness. This is primarily due to the perception that they do not excel in any physical manner. I, and the vast majority of educated scholars, refute this in its entirety.
I would consider the greatest physical trait of humans to be their environmental adaptability. Barring aquatic civilization, humans come to adjust to any habitat occupied by others. Gnomes such as myself struggle with living in highly elevated climates, such as mountain towns, it may not be impossible but the life never becomes easy. With time humans can live in hot and cold environments, arid and humid, subsist off of a purely carnivorous or herbivorous diet (though I would not call a limited diet healthy), high or low elevation, and just about anywhere else on land. This ability has allowed small pockets of human communities to flourish anywhere.
Additionally they are the species most compatible with the biology of other species. This allows them to both give and receive grafts from other species such as magical limb replacements or organs. Grafts from other sources have a high likelihood of being rejected by the body due to differences in biology but humans seem to not suffer this problem.
Humanity's status as a universal donor & receiver is one of the great mysteries of life.
Perhaps evidence for the genesis theory?
Humans also have particularly good health. They heal quickly and resist illness much easier than others of their size. Really tough too. In all regards they may not have the greatest fortitude but it is remarkable compared to many others.
They also withstand and resist magic better than most others.
My own experiences do not agree with this.
Setting aside the physical, I will also note certain social and mental aspects. In general, humans are remarkably social creatures. They always seek out connections and groups, integrating into them well. In many cities and towns there are not human zones for humans have ingrained themselves too thoroughly within its other communities to form pockets of their own. Despite this social inclination many indicate a strong wanderlust. This drives many to travel in one way or another. Explorers, adventurers, cartographers, traveling artists. These two factors in tandem contribute to the lack of firmly established centers of humanity.
Human values traditionally emphasize loyalty and tenacity. My grandfather often said Humans don't give up, on duty or on you (There's a similar saying on MokuMoku). I will personally attest that they make wonderful friends and trusted councilors or advisors. As I previously mentioned, many are also make skilled adventurers of one kind or another.
I previously mentioned that humans can be found just about anywhere but now I would like to address this point in finer detail. A notable contributing factor was the old Bismar Empire of near a thousand and a half years ago. Their Aelf rulers considered humans to make excellent subjects due to the many traits I have outlined above. Thus as they conquered more territory they moved great amounts of humans to those lands to maintain peace. This series of events if often known as the Human Diaspora. It resulted in humanity being scattered across the far reaches of Bismar territory. Prior to my authoring of this text, there was kingdom in our world thought to be the homeland of humans. Makedan, the only kingdom with a primarily human ruler base. Sadly, a little less than a century ago Makedan was destroyed by the Wicked Helspeaker Gevurah. Following this its population was forced to flee in every direction. Many still live in caravans that travel the world rather than settling down. It is true that a descendant of the royal lineage of Makedan still lives but odds are that kingdom will never exist again.
Outside of fallen kingdoms, humans can not be said to be the predominant species of any known kingdom. Their are established human noble families in most kingdoms, some even have human royalty, but they are not the predominant force among the ruling class anywhere, With Makedan gone, there's nowhere specific for humans to call home.
Not that many mind, we tend to be quite happy in the company of others.
A contemporary issue I feel important to touch on is a matter of developing anti-human sentiment. In regions such as the Gale Empire, where clan history is incredibly emphasized, outsider humans are often regarded with suspicion do to their tendency to travel. Granted, in this case, established human clans do not face any trouble. Yet, in some places, their status as eternal outsiders has begun to be more greatly emphasized. Perhaps the greatest example of this is the kingdom of Dressel, in which human nobles have faced revolts based upon their human nature. Stripped of property, wealth, and status due to the belief that they'll never be true Dressans.
A true tragedy, a friend lost her home amid this chaos. It's done horrible things to her health.
My thoughts in this entry, I will admit, have been scattered. For that reason I will close this entry on a simple message. Home is what you make of it, be kind and accept your neighbors. Whatever form they may take.
