Year 13 UK students’ opinions on the cancellation of A-level examinations and the future prospects during the COVID-19 pandemic Survey
There is a research project going on which is looking at Year 13's opinions on the cancellation of A-levels, the effects of COVID-19 on future prospects and results day feelings!
There is a quick survey that you need to fill out.
This is the link which will show you the survey link: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6614654
Please fill in the survey before A-level results day!
It's for anyone in year 13, in the UK, who was supposed to do A-levels this summer 2020.
Please share around to other year 13's too! There is not a lot of research taking into account year 13's thoughts and opinions on these decisions which affect year 13's future the most!
Many thanks in advance for all your help and support!

I think its important to note that you shouldnt base your success off of others. Although we all completed the same exam, we all had different circumstances that could have massivley altered the grade.

A Level results
IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN. I got my results 11 years ago (I know, I’m very old, it’s fine, I’ve accepted it) and over the years I have learnt some important things that I wanted to share. DISCLAIMER: this is mainly for those who haven’t done as well as they perhaps wanted to. If you have the grades that you wanted/needed for uni, then that’s amazing, I’m so pleased and happy for you. But this post isn’t really aimed at you. You are welcome to read on if you wish, but you can also just skip it, that's ok too. 1. For anyone who hasn’t done as well as they wanted to; this is not life-defining or life-ruining, merely life-changing. In the metaphorical corridor of life, a door may have been closed. It might feel like that door has been slammed into your face. You are more than allowed to be upset. But, another door has opened somewhere else. You just need to find it. There’s no rush. You will find it. 2. Your grades do not define you as a person. You are a brave, beautiful, brilliant human being, not a load of letters on a piece of paper. You are not your grades. 3. (This one is a bit harsh, sorry to those who have just got their results). With every day that passes, your a-level results become less relevant. I can’t remember the last time someone asked me what grades I got at a-level. I’m fairly convinced that about 99% of my friends don’t know, or care, what grades I got. Other things become more important, like your experiences and your personality. A levels are just there to use as a stepping stone to something else. In the working world, it’s not that important. The same goes for universities. League tables mean jack shit all in the real world. You just need to find one that is right for you. 4. You are not, and never will be, a failure. That’s just a fact. Accept it. 5. Life throws up weird shit at unexpected times, and this may be one of them. Go with it, you will look back and realise how different your life would have been, the people you wouldn’t have met, the places you wouldn’t have seen. 6. Social media is a bitch. It feels like the whole world is posting about how well they did and what university they got into and what presents they have been bought. I never experienced this with my a levels, that’s how old I am, social media did not exist, but I did with my degree results. I know it’s the worst, but please know that you are not alone. 7. Please don’t compare yourself to anyone else. They have different life experiences and different shit going on in their life, they have a different way of working and of remembering things, and they are not you. 8. You know that friend that doesn’t do any work and then does really well anyway? It will catch up with them. And they will need you to be there and care for them. They are not a bad person. They are just lucky. 9. Your grades do not define your worth as a human being. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s important, so needs to be said twice. 10. If you didn’t get what you wanted, it is ok to be sad and to wallow for a little while. It hurts, a lot, but I promise that it won’t feel like that forever. There are so many brilliant things that are going to happen to you, and experiences that you will have, there is so much to look forward to. Be strong, be brave, you’ve got this. Feel free to drop me a message if you would like a girl in her late twenties to take care of you for a bit, or if you want some help deciding what to do next. It’s going to be ok. I promise.

I NEEDED some good news - and I bet you did, too. Malala just announced she'll be attending Oxford <3 <3 <3⠀ .⠀ R/P from @telegraph :⠀ .⠀ Congratulations, Malala! The UN Messenger of Peace was just one of the nervous youngsters waiting for news of their A Level results. However, it was good news for Malala Yousafzai. She found out through UCAS that she had met the grades required to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oxford. The women's rights campaigner, from an area in northwest Pakistan which banned girls from attending school, was overjoyed that she will be studying at one of the world's best universities.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Picture: REUTERS/Darren Staples #Malala #MalalaYousafzai #Yousafzai #alevelresultsday #school #education #inspiring #inspiration #congratulations #university #universityofoxford #neededgoodnews #educategirls #amightygirl #girlpower #girlsrule
