some women aren't made to be mothers, and some women aren't made to be daughters.
Tumblr media
THE ICE QUEEN ⸻ old wine corks and empty champagne flutes, a child weaned on poison considers harm a comfort, a lingering whiff of expensive perfume, a closet full of custom couture, a crown too big for your head, designer sunglasses that hide the cunning glint in your eyes, the cruelty in absence, an apple meant to end dynasties, glass crunching beneath stiletto heels.
Tumblr media
trigger warning: substance abuse, pregnancy.
NAME: jacqueline of montmorency.
NICKNAMES: jac ( preferred ), jackie ( only use this if you wish to be cursed out ).
BIRTHDAY & AGE: january 28th; forty-six years old.
ZODIAC: aquarius.
BIRTHPLACE: london, england.
OCCUPATION: editor-in-chief of british vogue.
GENDER: cis woman, she/her.
SEXUALITY: bisexual, female leaning.
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: it's complicated.
CHILDREN: one daughter.
THREE POSITIVE TRAITS: beguiling, forthright, driven.
THREE NEGATIVE TRAITS: condescending, ruthless, self-destructive.
CHARACTER PARALLELS: elvira hancock; scarface. claire underwood; house of cards. camille preaker; sharp objects. nicole mossbacher; the white lotus.
SONG INSPIRATIONS: girlie; alexandra savior. teen idle; marina. this is what makes us girls; lana del rey. donatella; lady gaga. tears dry on their own; amy winehouse. bang bang bang bang; sohodolls. all the things she said; t.a.t.u. glory and gore; lorde. rip her to shreads; blondie. doin’ time; lana del rey.
TO SUMMARIZE !
being born into a life that was the envy of others wasn’t always what it was cracked up to be. jacqueline didn’t grow up surrounded by the warmth and tenderness that was typical in happy families. the riches and influence the montmorency name held was, of course, a privilege, but as it turns out, money can’t buy a mother’s affection — something she learnt early on. her mother loved her, she knew that, but in her own strange, distant way and that was something she had a hard time dealing with. the family’s status and duty took priority, which meant the young girl was left in the care of a gaggle of nannies more often than not. and honestly? sometimes they felt more like family than her own flesh and blood.
into her adulthood self-medicating with painkillers became a way for her to numb the emotions she had learnt to bottle up inside of her when they became too much. it started as a one off thing until it became a habit that felt as natural to her as brushing her teeth. she has yet to break the habit, still carrying herself through life with a pill bottle within arms reach.
she married young after becoming pregnant unexpectedly, her mother was adamant that she tie the knot with her beau before she began to show, there was no way she would allow her daughter to have a child out of wedlock. the damage such a thing would do to the her reputation was too dear.
motherhood had never been in her plan, the fear of turning into her own mother plagued her, causing her to decide to forgo having a family of her own. but life brought her a curveball in the form of a positive pregnancy test. that was then she decided she would strive to have the relationship with her child that she wished she could have had with her own mother.
her marriage lasted ten years, but its demise had arrived much sooner. they stayed together for convenience for years until one day her husband had returned home with the news that not only did he have a mistress, but he didn’t love jacqueline anymore and planned to leave her for the other woman.
one would think she’d be heartbroken but she wasn’t. he had become a dead weight, a nuisance in her life that she honestly wished would fall off the face of the earth. the only good thing that came from their marriage was noémie, their daughter.
coming from a bloodline that was powered by ruthlessness, she is a cold and cunning woman. the kind that could have you obliterated with a snap of her fingers. there are few she lets into her heart — her daughter being at the very top of the list. if someone doesn’t interest her or can’t do anything that will personally benefit her, she deems them useless. the latter being proof that she is her mother’s daughter.

James M. Barry, Sr., age 83, of Ellisville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 9, 1940 to Vincent and Lorraine Barry (nee Decker).
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Page Barry (nee Myers); loving children, Robin (Robert) Gerchen, Jim (Sally) Barry, and Jennifer (Garland) Hines; treasured grandchildren, Allison (Christian) Meyer, Robert Hancock, Alexandra Gerchen, Jean-Martin Gerchen, Jack Barry, Hannah Barry, Thomas Barry, Joseph “Vance” Watkins, Nicholas Watkins, and James Watkins; dear brother, Vince (wife Patricia survives) Barry; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Barry; and mother, Lorraine Barry.
According to Jim, he was the favorite child (I believe Uncle Vince might agree). He and his brother grew up above The Copper Kettle, a tavern his parents owned. He was a caddy at the local golf course and soon became very good at the sport. His love for golf continued throughout his life even in his waning days when his grandsons would come over to keep him company and watch golf on tv with him.
He attended Cincinnati Academy of Commercial Art following high school and soon landed a job at Maritz in St. Louis, while fulfilling his commitment as an Air Force reservist. It was at Martiz that he made lifelong friends – Tom Lavelle, Herb Rose and Rich Avett. He and Herb Rose went on to found Barry, Rose & Associates and from there he became the creative director at Herman Marketing where photography became his main focus.
His proudest freelance project was the creation of the City of Ellisville logo which is still used today.
In his younger years, he collected beer cans and was a proud member of the Beer Can Collectors of America. More recently, he enjoyed woodworking, especially turning bowls, carpentry and cabinet making, buying and reselling antique tools.
Of late, he was very proud member of the American Legion, Post 556.
Jim was well known by his family and friends for his very timely sense of humor, throwing in zingers when you’d least expect it. Granddad was also a wonderful, creative soul leaving behind beautiful gifts for his children and grandchildren including paintings, hand-turned wooden boxes, bowls, ice cream scoops and ink pens as well as furniture and cabinetry in our homes.

TKAM Characters Zodiac Signs
Scout is an Aries. I don't think I need to elaborate.
Alexandra is a Taurus. Again, do I really need to explain?
Jack is a Scorpio. Jack is literally a model scorpio (him and Edward Rochester)
Caroline is a Leo. I really don't have any evidence for this one, Caroline just gives me leo vibes.
Jem is a Gemini. I think Gemini fits him best because geminis are very clever and spontaneous. They are very curious and intellectual too. Idk I just think gemini would fit best.
Jean is an Aquarius. This is another one that I don't really need to explain but I'm going to because I'm in love with her. They are clever and optimistic. Sensitive, enthusiastic, and eccentric. They are also creative and independent, which fits Jean very well in my mind.
And I'm just going to leave this quote about Libra men and Aquarius women here: "The relationship that builds between Libra man and Aquarius woman is one between intellectual thoughts and logical ideals. Romance flourishes as they discover and explore each other. They listen well to each other and build a foundation of trust and companionship between them."
Atticus is a Libra or Capricorn or Virgo. I lean towards Libra, however. And I'm going to use another quote from the same article to support my claim. "He [a libra man] hides his passions well behind an elegant smile and a convincing voice. He is a great orator with an answer to almost every question of the world. He keeps his distance while analyzing others around him. He is not as innocent as he may seem but he is a gentle soul who hates to do injustice to anyone. He likes to maintain a balance in everything he does and that includes love too."

Yes, I am still fixated on TKAM, which is why I wrote this. There aren’t many fics in this fandom, so I’m selfishly writing more fics because there aren’t enough for me to be satisfied. For any who is in this fandom, this is my gift to you. Be on the lookout for more!

Background(Note: I’m still in the process of writing this so it’ll seem like a mess til I get it finished all the way so please bear with me): Was born at The Citadel, making her a Squire(Since she was born into the Brotherhood of Steel). She was 5 years old when her parents(Angus Peyton Everston and Carmen Renee Ruth Everston) died to a SuperMutant Behemoth, leaving her in the care of Elder Owyn Lyons/Sarah Lyons and Leif Axel Gunnar. When she was 9(this takes place during the events of Fallout 3), she decided to leave with Madison Li to The Commonwealth. Leif was reluctant about her leaving at first, since she was basically the only like "family"(She looks alot like her dad, Angus, and Angus was Leif's Lover)he has left, but gave in and let her go, making her promise(also making Madison Li promise) to stay safe and hopefully that they'd meet again someday(They'd end up meeting during the Fire Support question for the Brotherhood of Steel. Also Alex and Nathan Ian Howard’s paths cross during this quest as well, making this the first time they meet). Alex has a family photo of her parents, Leif, Sarah, Squire Arthur Maxson, and her when she was 5. Also has one of her(When she’s 9), Conrad Kellogg, and Madison Li as well. During the events of Fallout 4, she's 19(making her a grown? woman). Conrad Kellogg and Madison Li are her step-parents since she was 9(Also NO I DON’T SHIP Madison Li and Conrad Kellogg together, I just see them as Alex’s step-parents). When Alex was 15?, She begged Kellogg to train her to be like a Mercenary/Field Operative(Like Him)? and Kellogg told her that he didn’t want her going out in The Commonwealth(saying it wasn’t safe lol, and he didn’t want her getting hurt), and it’s safer just to stay at the Institute, but Alex wasn’t having it, and was that’s the EXACT reason why you should train me, and I’m not gonna stay here forever. So, Kellogg and her trained ever since lol. Also even tho Alex IS NOT a synth/android or a courser, she also went thru the Courser rigorous training regimen and passed it. Alex also went on missions with Kellogg since she was 16. When she was 18, she heard about Nuka-World(So this takes place in 2286), and went go it, and kinda made Fizztop Grille her lil getaway home?, well until Overboss Colter and the the gangs show up, Colter was her first? boyfriend?(He technically doesn’t die in my version of Fallout 4, but I’m also working out Alex’s background with @m-is-for-mungo’s OC Lily Black’s background, and Lily kills him so. 😅😅😅😅), But ye in my version Colter never dies and stays Overboss, with Alex at his side(But she also ends up leaving for long periods of times lol), also they take over the parks, but don’t end up touching The Commonwealth.
Languages Spoken: English(Native Language), Mandarin Chinese, and American Sign Language. Somewhat of Russian.

BOOK RECS
Okay, so lots of people wanted this and so, I am compiling a list of my favourite books (both fiction and non-fiction), books that I recommend you read as soon as humanly possible. In the meantime, I’ll be pinning this post to the top of my blog (once I work out how to do that lmao) so it will be accessible for old and new followers. I’m going to order this list thematically, I think, just to keep everything tidy and orderly. Of course, a lot of this list will consist of historical fiction and historical non-fiction because that’s what I read primarily and thus, that’s where my bias is, but I promise to try and spice it up just a little bit.
