A life of a princess was something to envy. Well so many had claimed however after the death of your mother life felt like an ever falling spiral. Your sister began to grow closer to Alicent after the death and while you were happy for her to have a friend Alicent had always been unkind to you.

It had started small with her asking Rhaenyra not to let you join in their games to her unpicking your needle work whenever you would wander off to stretch your legs. Soon you gave up on even trying to be nice to her. anytime she was invited to dinner was met with loud sighs from you.

“Why does she hate me?” you pouted one night as Rhaenyra upbraided your hair.

Your sister rolled her eyes as she began to brush your hair out, “She doesn’t hate you. she’s just not used to a little sister,”

“She’s mean,”

“Cmon she isn’t that bad?”

You didn’t want to say I told you so when Alicent was betrothed to your father but the look on your face said it for you. at least Rhaenyra was able to marry and move away. you were instead stuck living at court with your evil stepmother and her spawn. Well, the children were kind to you, but Alicent constantly used them to get under your skin.

She’d send toddler Aegon running over with pretend crown shouting that he was going to be king. Or she would have a 2-year-old Aemond claim he was your husband. She tried to make Helena spill wine on your dress one time, but the poor girl burst into tears and confessed to you instantly.

Instead Alicent settled on insisting that your chambers were given to Aegon. Something you managed to convince your father against from at first but soon you were moved to a wing of the castle usually just for guests. You would’ve complained about longer if you hadn’t realised your new chambers window overlooked the kings guard training ground.

From your window you’d pretend to be doing needle work while secretly watching break bones fling any man that challenged him like a rag doll. Eventually Harwin caught onto your staring and would send his own glimpses up between sparring. It was also handy that your chamber was only a short walk from the guards’ sleeping quarters and Harwin soon became a frequent private guest of yours.

“Ser Barros is coming to court next week,” your father told you over a family dinner, “and I heard his son is looking for a wife,” he said, shooting you a hopeful glance.

“I heard he’s a fine man father,” you said kindly knowing full well it didn’t matter. Somehow every match they tried to make for you was sabotaged. The tall dark Baratheon boy was ever so keen for weeks for your hand then one day disappeared like a ghost. The gorgeous Lannister man that would bring you fine jewels suddenly decided a dornish match was of more importance. Even the Tarly boy you had courted had inexplicitly decided to join the nights watch. Every time Alicent wore the same twisted smile.

The only ones she didn’t send running were the incredibly old and decrepit looking men from minor houses, but it wasn’t hard to convince your father they weren’t suitable matches. “Perhaps we should set up a luncheon to great the boy,” Alicent suggested making your father smile widely. She really had twisted him around her finger.

“I wish I could stay here all day,” you pouted as you lay your head on Harwin’s bare chest.

His chuckle vibrated through you as his arm wrapped tight around your waist, “Me too princess but I have my duties and you have yours,”

“I thought your duty was to serve me,” you sighed dramatically, pretending to try get away.

Harwin laughed, his arms moving to cage you against the bed as he moved to lay over you, “I think I serve you just fine princess,” he said, his lips moving to kiss along your jaw.

“Oh yeah?” you asked and Harwin hummed in response as his kisses grew lower.

As expected Borros’s son went running after only a week and now you were in another awkward family dinner however unluckily for you the children all had the cold so now you were sat in stoney silence with just your father and Alicent. “You should really think about your future dear,” she said with a fake sweet smile, “We worry for you,”

Instead of replying you grabbed your wine, drinking a hefty sip of it. Viserys sighed, “Alicent is right dear. You must marry. At this point we’re going to have to start considering marrying you to a tree!” he said, flinging himself back in his chair. “Honestly what even happened between you and the boy?”

The days that followed were awkward to say the least. Alicent walked around smug as all hell and your father continued to sulk. You decided enough was enough and when Alicent went out to the sept you decided to track your father down. Unsurprisingly you found him staring over a model of the city.

“Father?” you greeted, walking closer to the tired looking man, “May we talk?”

“Of course, sweet child,” he said, nodding for you to sit beside him before sighing, “You know I worry for you?”

“I do father, and I do appreciate it,” you lied but did your best to look sympathetic to your clueless father, “but I was thinking. Well. I found another match you see father,” you spoke, and his head perked up as he waited for you to finally spit it out, “He’s sweet and kind and his family is well respected. You even like his father, and I was just thinking- “

“Out with-it child,”

You took a breath before finally asking, “Have you considered Harwin Strong yet father?” Viserys sighed, his eyes turning away but you continued, “Think about it! I’d be able to be at court and help Helena with her studies. Plus, you have four more children so four more matches. You already have the Velaryon which secures the crownlands. Harwin and I would secure the Riverlands. Then after you betrothed Helena, Aegon, Aemond, and Daeron you will have six of the seven kingdoms on your side. Your reach will go far especially if our children do the same,”

“You want to dilute the blood of old Valyria?” he asked, sounding exhausted as he spoke.

“No father, only strengthen it,” you said, moving to hold his hand, “Besides there is no other Targaryen or Velaryon to wed unless uncle daemon is brought back from exile- “you said but your father raised his hand to hush you.

He paused for a moment before nodding, “I will think about it. but for now, leave me. I have a lot to consider,”

“Thank you, father,”

Apparently Alicent must have missed this chamber meeting because somehow the news came back finally in your favour. Harwin would be your husband. You were so happy when your father told you that you instantly hugged him before rushing to find Harwin however that night at dinner Alicent shot you many dirty looks.

Finally, you had undermined her. you’d won. Well, that’s how it felt at first, but her glares began to sink into your skin till it itched. As the dinner ended, she tapped her cup with her fork, “A toast to my dear sweet daughter,” she smiled at you making your father beam, “May she have a marriage like ours,” she said, holding his hand tightly but you felt your stomach flutter.

“Here, here,” your father said, standing to kiss your cheek.

Alicent did the same, her arms twisting round your back into a bony hug, “Do not forget yourself darling,” she whispered sweetly in your ear, “You don’t win that easily,”

Part of the weirdness of Breaking Dawn is that at least on some level, Bella's success at being a vampire is because she chose it beforehand. I think Alice even mentions in Eclipse that no one has done that before, so who knows how Bella will turn out? But a) the characters/story still treats BELLA like she is amazing vs her circumstances being the main driver here and b) it also has this weird tone of like "see anyone could do it with with enough focus and attitude, if they only 'prepared' and chose it before."

But given the circumstances in which everyone else was turned (Alice, Edward, Esme, Rosalie and Emmett to save their lives; Carlisle and Jasper running into a vampire in the wild) that . . . that wasn't an option?

It reminds me of SM talking about how Edward loves Bella more than Rosalie loves Emmett, because Edward chose to keep Bella human yet Rosalie chose to turn Emmett but those were WILDLY different circumstances?! Emmett was actively bleeding out. The choice before Rosalie was not "let him live a human life without vampires" or "turn him," it was "let him die right now" or "turn him."

(And also, Edward makes the same choice Rosalie did when Bella is actively dying, so . . .)

The tone is like "Gosh why didn't you guys just mentally prepare yourself for vampirism?" They . . . they couldn't? How were any of them supposed to have the "right focus and attitude" after the trauma they went through? They weren't waking up a happily married billionaire with their spouse and supportive family at their side like Bella was, they were waking up to an entirely alien existence with strangers--if that. Alice and Carlisle were alone.

But then we get Life and Death where Beau LITERALLY has no time to prepare or choose anything and he is STILL as amazing as Bella was so this vaguely condescending "just have the right focus and attitude!" stuff doesn't even matter. Bella and Beau literally are just amazing at it because SM can't bear to let them become monsters or face monstrous consequences.

hobi- just remembered this, when y/n, Ben, Alice, and Laura text about how hot the hybrids are I thin mainly hobi omg they cracked me up sm. The im married not blind part was so funny 😂

jimin- i don’t remember much from the chapter in September I don’t think we saw much of him but in this recent chapter OMG he was such a sweet pea!!! Y/n really went all out getting his HORSE shipped here. And jimin saying happy b day to join was so sweet cause every one’s warming up to joon after the fight a bit and I think everyone is warming up in general. Anyways y/nie goes above and beyond for her boys and ahhhh so sweet. He was so happy too you could tell he wanted to cry gosh. I love when jimin can’t handle his alcohol well I can just imagine his red cheeks eeek I hope we get to travel and see his family too. He’s defiantly been working hard on the barn, and when she mention he was shirtless at some point 🥵 I cant- im sorry I’m on my period that my horrible excuse anyways -

taehyung- him wanting to take photography and him taking pics of HER STOP ✋ no author u need to stop it’s too much like omg and when they held each other afterward I melted like I TURNED into a puddle of the floor and I’m only able to write this now bc it’s so cold here that I froze and turned back into my human form. Tae - UGH Another one that is totally whipped for Y/N, taking pictures of her, including a couple at his first expo... even though only four were displayed at that expo, you can imagine he's probably taken dozens more of her, which makes me blush and kick my feet. He's definitely one of the more cuddly ones, too, so when he hugged her at the expo that moment was so sweet and intimate... physical touch must be one of his love languages. I love my men a little possessive, and I DO remember the whole perilla leaf debate (wild) and Tae being like that both irl AND in Trouvaille is just so... you know? He was definitely staking claim over Y/N in that brewery, he did not like that random man staring at his girl like that. OOF! 🥵 I'm glad you brought up Tae and Yoongi beginning to come around to one another. They have that connection of both being into music, and I think they have similar possessive feelings over Y/N. Jeongguk - fhdjasf our little edgelord! Ah his birthday was so self indulgent, fluffy, and a chance to see his softer side under all that iciness he usually displays. I think the longer time wears on, he'll let go of more of that frostiness and become more comfortable showing Y/N his tender side. fjdksa I forgot about the scene where he offered her a cigarette at Hoseok's meet-- such a twerp!! I love love love scary movies, and I feel like him maybe Yoongi are the only two that would actually wanna watch a horror film with me IRL, or Y/N in Trouvaille. Hoseok is a bit of a scaredy cat, and the rest of them put that off a little bit as well LOL. And for sure, there really isn't anything that can be hidden in that house anymore, there are ears literally everywhere.... bad news for someone who likes to talk shit, like me. But that's an example of Jeongguk being uncharacteristically sweet, agreeing to help Y/N even if he doesn't have to. To me, the Cullens being billionaires is supposed to be a promise of comfort rather than actual wealth. It was another thing to incentivize Bella to join Edward's world: supernatural beauty, unconditional love that she didn't have to earn, and the comfort and ease of mind that comes with financial stability.

Also, making them billionaires just saves SM from thinking too hard, because she can just hand-wave things away by throwing fictional money at them.

Real-world billionaires are rightfully villainized, but we're not supposed to associate the Cullens with the real horrors and consequences that come with hoarding wealth. It's just supposed to make Bella's fictional life shinier and SM's story telling easier. It's not that deep, fam.

You're absolutely right! Twilight is first and foremost a love story, and a big part of that romantic fantasy is joining a big family who will love you and take care of you forever. That's the allure of the Cullens: they're shiny and pretty and can satisfy any material want you could think of. By joining the Cullens, Bella can finally step out of that role of caretaker, and she never has to worry about money or any other need ever again. That's the role that their wealth plays in the fantasy.

From a world-building perspective, the Cullens have to fund their human façade. So even though vampires in the Twilight universe don't need money to survive, the Cullens need money for their houses, cars, fake IDs, etc. that allow them to live in the human world. Their wealth is an exaggeration, just like their beauty, speed, strength, and emotions are.

You're right that we're not supposed to associate the Cullens' wealth with the real-world immorality of billionaires. And I think what really speaks to that idea is that the Cullens don't live like real-world billionaires. Sure, they spend their money on big houses and sports cars and a private island and they have huge hordes of cash in their house; these are all things that the average person associates with rich people. But that's a doctor/lawyer/actor/athlete level of wealth. As far as what we know from canon, the Cullens are not spending their money on lobbying politicians to change the tax code in their favor, or buying giant media conglomerates to influence how information is disseminated. They're not getting their money by exploiting employees with poverty wages, or receiving government subsidies or bailouts. The kind of unethical practices that are associated with the Cullens' wealth in canon are buying forged documents to maintain fake identities, and Alice playing the stock market and cheating at gambling. I would argue that that is far less unethical than what real life billionaires do with their money.

I understand the impulse to get angry at outward displays of wealth, even fictional ones. Whenever I'm reminded that mega yachts exist I want to yell, "Do you know how many people you could have fed and housed with that kind of money?!" It's important to keep in mind that whatever expensive toys that rich people choose to buy are a shiny distraction from the real issue, which is the disproportionate and unearned power of a small group of billionaires, that comes at the expense of the security and agency of ordinary people. That's not the point of Twilight.

Ultimately, the Cullens' wealth is a plot device, not the subject of critique. I haven't thought I'd get to write to you myself, as an individual, and not for just letting you know what the hell has been going on recently.

I've been missing you a lot recently. I know I shouldn't, because you're never coming back. I suppose that now, you're just another ghost of the past, like everyone else is.

I miss being friends.

I miss spending nights in our dorm, putting on make-up, and listening to ABBA (I've never been their hugest fan, but for you and Lily? Anything.). I miss roaming around the school, strutting like it was no one's business. I miss Firewhiskey (Okay, I don't, actually, I can have plenty of it, but you get what I mean.) and that moustache you always used to get from Butterbeer.

I miss the Hogsmeade weekends, I miss stealing each other's clothes, although mine rarely fitted you, because of the height difference. I miss waking you up by jumping on your bed and screaming like a madman and you pushing me off and laughing and telling me to piss off. I miss the food fights in The Great Hall too. Remember when all of the Gryffindors joined in? That was so much fun!

I miss the pranks too. I'll never forget, however, when we caught Sirius and Remus making out in their dorm when we were looking for James and Peter. Do you remember how embarrassed they were? I'm never going to let them live it down.

But most importantly, I miss being yours. I miss being your friend, Mary.

We haven't written you in a while (mainly because you don't answer. I don't blame you, though, this whole thing is a bloody shitshow), so you might not be caught up on everything.

James and Lily are having a baby. They're married too, you might know that, if the wedding invitation has gotten through. They're happy. I'm sorry.

Remus and Sirius are falling apart.

This might be the last time you're getting a letter from any of us. Frank and Alice, you might know them, The Longbottoms, as well as Lily and James, have gone into hiding. "Mommy." Addie whispered, shaking her mother out of her sleep.

"Mmh, what's wrong?" Amelia groggily asked as she moved onto her side to face the girl who was at the side of her bed.

"It's almost lunch time. And your still sleeping!" Addison giggled climbing into the bed.

"Can we go to the park?"

"I think we can arrange that." To which her daughter cheered, jumping out of the bed.

"Can we go now?"

"Well we're both still in our pjs, so once we get dressed we can." The girl raced out of the room to quickly get ready. Amelia laughed at her overexcited daughter, and got out of bed herself. Once she got ready, she went down the stairs to find her son practically bouncing off the walls.

"Mom! I'm so excited." Scout informed his mother once he spotted her.

"I can see that." Amelia laughed at as her son ran up to her, she kneeled down so they were eye level. "Now you need to promise me something. When your at practice today you don't take your helmet off, for any reason at all. That helmet stays on at all times."

"I know mom. My helmet stays on." Scout smiled to try and reassure his mom. She had finally agreed to allow her son to play T-ball, but her nerves were still shot.

"And your dad will be there the whole time. So if you don't  feel good let him know." That was another condition she had, her husband had to be at every practice just in case something happened to him.

"I know mom."

"Ready champ?" Link asked as he walked into the living room.

"Yep!" Scout said excitedly, running to his father. "I'm so ready!"

"Be safe and have a good time." Amelia smiled hugging her son, holding onto him tightly.

"Well your brother is named after a character in a book, it goes along with your dad's name. And as you know your name is after your Aunt Addison, who was very excited to have you named after her."

"Do you know what the baby in your belly's name is going to be?"

"Not yet. Do you have any suggestions."

"Hmm, I like the name Anders, or Alice."

"Anders?" Amelia asked curiously, she'd never heard the name before. "Where'd you hear that name?"

"From a TV show. Anders is an ant who runs the kitchen for his colony."

"I'll have to put it on the list." She then dug into her pocket looking for her phone. Noticing a text from her husband. "Want to go get donuts with your brother and dad?"

"Of course!" Addison exclaimed jumping off of the swing, she giggled at her daughters excitement and texted her husband back.

"Just achiness and pain, I feel much fatter than my other pregnancies."

"Your not fat, your growing our baby. It's also your fourth pregnancy, so your muscles aren't as tight as they were before." Link reassured as he helped her sit down at the table.

"Who won the race?" Amelia asked as she took the hand sanitizer out of her purse

"Scout did." Addie sighed as she rubbed the gel into her hands.

"You just gotta practice." Scout told his sister as he grabbed a donut from the box. "I can't wait till the new baby comes and we get to teach them how to play games and stuff."

"And then maybe we can get that dog!" Addison pointed out.

"That's a ways away." Amelia reminded, her kids always pestered her about getting a dog. She turned to her husband who was smirking and he wiped his wife's face of the donut powder. "Thank you."

"Dad how many donuts do you think you've eaten in your whole life?" Addison asked as she ate a donut.

"My whole life?" Link seemed to contemplate this question. "Hmm, maybe around 100, maybe 500?"

"That's a lot of donuts." Addison noted.

"It is." Link nodded in agreement. "You know, I think you guys like donuts so much because when you guys were in your moms belly all she'd eat was donuts."

"Hey, I blame that on you." Amelia nudged her husband. "I barely ever ate donuts until I met you."

"Our first date you seemed to enjoy the donuts we had."

"What? No we had sushi burritos." Amelia corrected. "Wait, you don't think New York was our first date do you? It could be considered  our first fight though."

"Well I guess that wasn't our first date. I think our first real life date must've been when we went to that restaurant, and later that night you found out you were pregnant with Scout."

"I guess that could be considered our first date."

"Wait you guys weren't married? When I was in your belly? Isn't it supposed to be your married than have a baby?" Scout asked curiously.

"Well- umm." Link stuttered. "You see, umm yeah. Wow look at that." Link pointed to a random tree, his two children turning around to look at it.

How you met: You guys met online. One of your passion projects is the stream gameplay - and specifically you’re really good at rhythm games (courtesy of your natural sense of rhythm and beat you built from playing piano + dancing). You stream at night because that’s when you’re free, and one day someone recommends you to Kenma on one of his livestreams. He watches a few of your streams - he finds your reactions really funny - whenever you get stressed trying to clear a hard song/level or when you make comments about how you would have arranged the beat differently - he enjoys your sarcastic personality + paired with your dedication to clearing/playing games. Your first kiss: both of you are very patient people who would rather wait until both of you are ready before initiating any new kind of physical intimacy. I think your first kiss would be on the day/night you guys decide to make things official (not publicly, but between the two of you). I think it just comes up in conversation - the two of you were not in a rush to put a label on your relationship, but he asks if he can introduce you to his other friends as his girlfriend. It just happens, after you nod yes he leans forward on the couch to swiftly press a kiss on your lips and then your cheek. 

Anniversary: Kenma is so THOUGHTFUL - in the weeks before your anniversary he quietly observes what you’re browsing online - whether it’s online shops that he can purchase your gift from, or noticing which spotify playlists you’re looping when taking a shower/doing work. He silently catalogues all this information and tries to figure out what kind of gift you would appreciate. I mean we all know Kenma is super wealthy but I think if he bought you something expensive he’d buy it because he knows it means a lot to you or it’s something you’d use a lot! One thing I could see him getting is a set of matching gameboy terrarium/planters for the two of  you so you can both have them on your desks as a reminder of each other. (I found this on Etsy, wakuwakuisland does super cool recycling of old retro gameboy consoles by turning them into pokemon themed terrariums. I love these sm i put a photo of one and one day when I am not broke i WILL order/commission one). I think it ends up being a fancy dinner at home - and the two of you exchange gifts and spend the night cuddling on the couch while gaming.

How they propose: So at this point his followers/your followers all know you two are dating so you guys will help with streaming/show up on each other’s streams. Under the guise of asking you to help him film something - he sneakily sets up his surprise. Ofc he still streams like normal, wanting to wait until the last moment and really make it a surprise, but as the game ends he asks if you can go grab him a glass of water from the kitchen. So you pad over to the kitchen, he quickly pulls the ringbox out of his pocket and ends his stream. When you come back he’s already standing in the middle of the room with the box open - silver band glimmering. You drop the glass of water in shock and start crying and nodding and he gives you the SOFTEST hug and the two of you just stand there for a few minutes hugging. (And then you go grab the paper towels bc yes there is water all over the carpet RIP)

What your wedding looks like: small, private ceremony. Probably in a remote chapel somewhere outside of the city. Kenma and you both wanted a day where you could focus on each other without all the hustle/bustle and distractions from the city + you didn’t want the press showing up or nosy people in general. Since Hinata is from a more rural area of Sendai, he suggests a local venue to Kenma who gladly takes him up on his offer, since a bunch of the people he wants to invite are from the area anyways. The wedding is filled with lots of laughter and joy, and just in general it feels good to be surrounded with all the closest people in your life. Ok but also for your honeymoon he takes a full 2 month hiatus and travels the world with you - wherever you want to go you’ll visit. 

Newlywed/domestic hc: Towards the end of the giant honeymoon trip around the world the two of you start to miss home. So when you finally arrive back at your shared apartment (you moved all your belongings in the week before the wedding) it’s the most wonderful sense of relief and wonder ever. It’s like you’re reliving your firsts all over again - your first time going grocery shopping together, your first time cooking dinner together, first time in a while doing a stream together, first time falling asleep in your full sized bed together. After months of travelling, it just feels good to be home again and to be able to revel in the fact that you’re married.

I know it's NOT possible, but what if a cure for vampirism was found and the Cullen's could choose whether to become human again. Which of them would take it? I think Rosalie and Emmett would. (Rosalie excited, Emmett is cool either way but wants to make her happy). Alice and Jasper seem content as vampires. Carlisle and Esme idk.

I think Edward would be excited to be human again with Bella but Bella would NOT want it. (Idk how it would work with Resume, I feel like that might be the only thing that would change Edwards answer. Maybe he'd want them all to wait until she was grown?)

I honestly feel like if SM wanted a Happily Ever After ending, this was the only way to do it that would feel consistent with the "oh, woe, I'm cursed to endless night!" stuff she was selling about vampires. It's like she wanted to have all the angst and melancholy of the Classic vampire genre but then also wanted a Cinderella fairy tale so we get this weird ending where it's like "actually ignore everything Edward, Rosalie, Jacob, etc said! Being a vampire is easy and awesome after all!" and it just felt weird. The middle books don't make ANY sense unless being a vampire is objectively Bad and something to be avoided. Edward leaving is only noble if he's doing it to save Bella from becoming a vampire. Jacob's desperation to keep Bella human/make her realize she loves him only makes sense if being a vampire is bad. Bella the Bestest and Happiest Vampire Ever and Renesmee the Precious Angel Vampiric Child just . . . don't work with those themes from the middle books.

A CURE for vampirism would work so much better as a happy ending. But yeah, it's a big question as to which Cullens would go for it. (I lowkey thought that maybe James' bite would be like an inoculation against vampire venom and they'd go to change Bella and it wouldn't work and then they could create a cure from her blood but no apparently the James bite really never mattered again. Oh well!)

I agree that Rosalie would want it and Emmett would go along with it to make her happy. He doesn't mind being a vampire but he's cool with becoming human too, and obviously it's important to Rose. If this takes place post-BD then Edward/Bella gets a lot more complicated. If it were a scenario like I outline where the cure were created from Bella's blood and she couldn't be turned, the answer is obvious. Edward becomes human. I think Bella would always be lowkey disappointed she didn't get to become a sparkly immortal with her forever love, but he'd become human for her and it would work out I guess. Post-BD Bella obviously LOVES being a vampire, she's born for it. Edward seems happier with his lot too, but I wonder if a cure might shake the acceptance he'd found. It's one thing to make peace with a situation when there is no way back; but if there IS a way . . . I could see him being excited and thrilled by this discovery, assuming that Bella would want it too and then it becoming a whole thing when she's like "what why would I want to be human again?"

I don't think a cure would work on Renesmee at all, personally, because she was BORN half-vampire. It's not a transformation she underwent like it is for full vamps, it's just what she IS. So I think regardless she's a hybrid forever, and that might keep Edward from pushing too hard for him and Bella to go back to humans, so they can stay immortal with their daughter.

I could argue either way for Carlisle and Esme. On the one hand Carlisle seems to have made peace with vampirism for the most part, and you could argue that he can do a lot more good as an immortal doctor than he could as a human one with a limited lifespan. On the other hand, I think you can make the argument that deep down everything he does reflects a desire to be human. Unlike other vampires, he has a house. He has a job. He kept his surname. He doesn't have a mate--he has a wife. Like, he actually married her for realsies. He has "children." He's made peace with vampirism by mimicking a human life as much as possible. And like with Edward, discovering there IS a way back might destabilize the peace he had built.

With Esme the temptation might be the ability to have children. Adoption is absolutely valid, but there's a big difference between adopting young adults who are frozen at one age forever and raising a child, or even adopting a human teen that would age and grow. Esme's found a lot of happiness and fulfillment with her family, but there's a lot she's missed out on by having EternaTeens. Becoming humans means she could potentially have children with Carlisle, the man of her dreams, and actually raise them and watch them grow. That might be enough for her to want it.

I'm gonna be wishy-washy and say in the post-BD scenario where Renesmee exists and can't be cured, C/Es decide to stay vampires along with E/B/Ness. In a scenario with no Nessie and E/B are human, C/Es become human too.

Alice and Jasper don't. Maybe if it were temporary they might try it just for a lark--Alice might curious what being human is like, since she can't remember it--but I don't think they have any interest in being human really and they don't have any moral issues with vampirism in general. Alice doesn't eat people because she saw herself with the Cullens and they don't eat people, it's not necessarily that she has a deep-seated moral objection to it. Jasper doesn't eat people (or tries not to anyway) because his gift makes it unpleasant for him. Otherwise I don't think he'd care.

So whatever goes down with E/B and C/Es, I think R/Em become human and A/J stay vampires. If the rest of the crew go human too, then A/J are like the vampire protectors who look after them and keep them safe from other vampires.

The event was decorated extravagantly for the holiday, giving the atmosphere a spooky and exciting vibe. All of the SM artists attending were dressed as various characters and inanimate objects of pop culture. Some groups under the label were all assigned seats along with those who had significant other’s who joined them as dates.

This wasn’t the first SM Halloween party Savannah and Taeyong attended, but it was their first one as a married couple. He had dressed up as Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura, and she was dressed as Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon. Savannah had a friend who was a seamstress and was able to take the time to make her costume, resembling each aspect down to the last detail. She brought her costume with her to the SM building to get ready with the other girls in a separate room from the men. All day, the two had been ecstatic to have a fun evening with their friends after a relaxing honeymoon in Bali; and the moment Taeyong saw his new bride step out in her costume, he couldn’t help but smile widely and chuckle with his cheeks turning pink as cherry blossoms. Savannah even beamed at how adorable her husband looked, contrasting the handsome groom aesthetic he had sported over the last two weeks. It wasn’t that she didn’t swoon over him looking finer than a prince on their wedding day, but there were times where she swooned over his softer side. He has such a strong presence that it was easy to forget what a sweetheart he actually was.

However, Savannah had been feeling nauseated in the mornings over the past week or so. She thought she might have eaten something bad while in Bali, but she would have already been sick and over it while they were there. Fever was out of the question, because she never felt any flu symptoms despite it being cold and flu season. Her period was also five days late. Relief swept over her when she didn’t feel sick that morning, but she did come to one last conclusion that could explain her symptoms. The night before preparing for the party, Savannah went out and bought two pregnancy tests before Taeyong got home after practice that evening. She had a talent at hiding things, so she was successful in concealing the two tests from her husband.

Once he had left, Savannah took them, and both tests came back positive. She was pregnant. She was going to be a mom. There was a human forming inside her. Overwhelmed with happiness, she cried tears of joy before she had to get ready for the day.

Now, at the party, everyone else could tell Mrs. Lee Taeyong was over the moon about something, but they guessed it was because she had just married the man she loved and was happy. Little did they know, Savannah had something else life changing to tell, but she wasn’t planning to tell anyone until she told Taeyong.

Throughout the event, Savannah chatted with almost everyone there and took in the other couples’ costumes. There were a few who coupled up, some who grouped up, and a few who were independent with their costumes. Alice, Carrie, and Ivy were dressed as the Powerpuff Girls, Yuta and Nana were Snow White and the witch, Renjun and Violet were Peter Pan and Wendy, and Lucas and Sydni were Thor and Black Widow. Maggie came as a glamorous, white cat, Yoori dressed as a magical unicorn, and Megan cosplayed Ms. Frizzle. Lanying showed up as Annabelle, and her scar added the creepy effect to her costume.

“I’m surprised you didn’t dress up as Rose,” Savannah said, taking note of Alexis’s biker babe version of the Queen of Hearts. “You look amazing, but I thought you and Jaehyun had something planned this year.”

Alexis chuckled and shook her head. “Nah, he and Jungwoo wanted to do it as a joke, but he ended up putting every beauty queen out there out of business. I’m just rollin’ with it.”

“Well, you look beautiful, regardless.”

“You have got to be the prettiest Sailor Mars here,” Seulgi spoke up. She was dressed as a vampire, her dyed blonde locks bringing the look together.

“Thank you,” Savannah smiled. “I need to remember to repay my friend back for making it for me.”

“Give her my regards. She’s talented.” She leaned into her friend’s ear. “And maybe have her make costumes for my groups’ next comeback.”

The two giggled.

“Well, maybe I ca-“It hit her. The nausea she thought had subsided for today had returned to torment her again. She felt that snacks she had devoured earlier rise back up.

“Are you okay?” Alexis asked in concern.

An awful taste coated the inside of Savannah’s mouth. She wasn’t about to vomit in the middle of the party, so she dashed out the room into the nearest women’s restroom. Flinging open the first stall door, she fell onto her knees and everything she had eaten that day was released from her mouth into the toilet bowl.

A pair of hands held her hair back. “Just let it out. I’m right here.” Seulgi.

Once Savannah had finished puking her guts out, she flushed the toilet, sat on the floor, and her friend gave her a paper towel to wipe her mouth.

“How does one get sick all of a sudden?” Seulgi asked as she knelt by her.

“I don’t have a fever,” she weakly responded after cleaning around her mouth. “And it’s not food poisoning.”

Seulgi stared blankly at her friend before the realization hit her. She gasped as her eyes grew wide. Her hand covered her mouth in shock.

“Are you-?”

Savannah nodded. “I’m pregnant.”

“Oh my gosh!” Seulgi threw her arms around Savannah in glee. “Does Taeyong know? Savannah, I’m so happy for you.”

“Not yet. I wanted him to be the first to know.”

Seulgi pulled away. “I’ll act surprised.”

“Thank you.”

“Savannah,” Taeyong’s voice sounded from the doorway.

“I’m coming, honey,” she called back. Seulgi helped her up, and Savannah tossed the paper towel in the garbage can. The two women exited the restroom, meeting a worried Taeyong at the door.

“Thank you for checking on her,” he said to Seulgi before she walked back towards the party. He faced his wife again, his hands cupping her face. “Are you okay?”

Savannah nodded.

“You had disappeared from the party, and Alexis told me where you went.”

“Nausea hit me,” she explained, Taeyong’s arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her close to him. “But I’m better now.”

“Honey, you’ve been feeling nauseated every day since we got back from our honeymoon. Are you sure you’re all right? Do I need to take you to the doctor?”

She couldn’t keep it from him any longer. She hated when Taeyong got worried. Idol life was stressful enough, and she didn’t want to add to it by hiding her pregnancy another day.

“Well, I will go see a doctor eventually,” she hinted as her hands wrapped around the back of her husband’s neck.

His left eyebrow was now raised in confusion. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

With a small giggle, she kissed his cheek and said, “Taeyong, I’m pregnant.”

The NCT leader’s expression transformed from confused into a look of shocked joy. His brown eyes widened and sparkled with happiness, and a giant smile stretched across his face.

“Savannah, are you serious?” His hands returned to her face, and she nodded. “When did you find out?”

“This morning after you left for practice. I wanted to tell you when we got home and show you the pregnancy tests I took, but Seulgi beat you to it.”

Taeyong couldn’t stop smiling as he pulled his beloved wife in for the biggest yet gentlest hug he could give her. Joy overwhelmed him so much in that moment he couldn’t stop the tears beginning to fall down his face. Savannah began to weep herself.

He broke away from their embrace and wiped her tears away with his thumbs, completely ignoring his own. “Can we do it? Raise a baby? Our baby? I mean my schedule is hectic, and you’re working for another group.”

She sighed. “I’ve been excited all day, but now that I think about it, I’m not sure of anything right now, Yongie. I’m not sure if I’m ready to be a mom. I don’t even know-”

Taeyong cut her off by pecking her lips, disregarding that she just vomited in the toilet less than five minutes ago. He then pressed his forehead against hers. “Don’t say things like that, baby. You’re going to be a great mother, because you take such good care of everyone else around you. I mean, sure, they’re not infants, but that kind of love and care can be carried over to any age.”

She was silent for a moment before whispering, “I’m still scared, though.”

“So am I, but how about we take this a day at a time?”

Savannah began to calm down and steadied her breathing, even though she hadn’t realized she was heaving out of nervousness.

“Okay,” she agreed. She pulled back enough to meet Taeyong’s eyes. “Can we go home, please? Fatigue is starting to kick in.”

“Of course,” he smiled before kissing her head.

So I emailed the SYFY Feedback account. This is what I said. I’ll let y’all know if they respond.

To Whom it May Concern,

I'm writing concerning the Magicians finale which aired last night, April 17th. While the finale may have been beautifully acted and filmed, there are many real concerns that the fans have that were brought on by this episode. Many of us fear that these concerns are going to be overlooked or written off by the network, furthering the betrayal. I'm not sure who reads these feedback emails, but if it is at all possible to get it passed along to the right people, it would make a huge difference. 

The death of Quentin Coldwater was unnecessary and cruel. This is a character that has clinical depression and has been hospitalized multiple times for suicide attempts. One of Quentin's major character arcs is that he is in a better place now than he was before he discovered magic, and that he had to do that for himself. For fans facing their own mental illness and struggles, he was a beacon of light and a chance to see themselves on screen. Quentin was not special. His discipline was minor mendings. He was not a high king in his blood, he was barely the hero of the story. But he was the hero of his own story. And for fans, this was important. That even though they might not be "special" they could still live to fight another day. That they could find the courage to keep fighting. So many fans identified with Quentin. He was their reminder that if he could keep fighting and living, so could they. This is extremely important to people who are suicidal. It is not something to take lightly, as literal lives are at stake.

There is a problem in the action adventure / science fiction genre with using the heroic self sacrifice as an excuse for suicidal tendencies. It is a harmful trope, but when you place that trope on a character who is clinically depressed and suicidal, it is devastating. And Quentin Coldwater's suicide has devastated the fandom. If you were to go onto tumblr.com and go through the Magicians tags, you would see that the episode was incredibly triggering for the fans with mental illnesses. Because our hero who kept living to fight another day killed himself. The episode poorly addressed this when Quentin and Penny 40 were discussing this in the Underworld, and there was no specific conclusion. Suicide is never heroic in any context. Portraying suicide as heroic is dangerous.

Further, there was no reason for Quentin to die. In an interview with Sera Gamble, she discusses the choice in a way that is grotesque. She calls it an artistic choice and a "full complete circle of Quentin's storyline." Do you have any idea how harmful that is for suicidal viewers? To tell them that the only end of their story has to be their death? To tell them that their efforts of saving themselves are pointless? Quentin's death was tragedy for the sake of being tragic and shock value. This is damaging to fans who saw Quentin as a way to keep fighting. 

Additionally, the idea that Quentin's death was heroic or okay because all of his friends were able to love him and be okay, so that Quentin could find peace in death? That is the most catastrophic idea to come from this finale. John McNamara said in the same interview that he didn't want to write pro-suicide television but that is EXACTLY what they did. If they cannot understand why telling suicidal people that they will be able to find peace in death is dangerous and damaging, I can't begin to tell them how to care about people. Quentin's death was cruel and thoughtless. There's more that Sera and John say in the article but honestly I cannot stomach any more of it. It cannot be denied anymore that Quentin Coldwater is queer. Following 3x05 and 4x05 especially, but from the word of the actor himself. Jason Ralph stated at comic con this past year that Quentin's queerness is the only thing he's not anxious about, and spent the entire con calling Q & Eliot soulmates and lifetime loves. The marketing department for the Magicians has released fan videos and egged on the queer viewers, encouraging them to watch for the representation. Quentin's entire motivation this entire season has been to get back to Eliot. And then in the last three episodes this build up was completely discarded.

Quentin and Alice get back together after both of them moving on with their own story lines and the fans agree that it doesn't make sense. The reunion of Qualice feels like it was essentially set up so that the writers had an excuse to not acknowledge Queliot in the finale. Because they didn't. Quentin has spent the entire season trying to save Eliot and then we don't get to see him reunite with Eliot. Even if one were to ignore anything Queliot, they have been best friends for the last four seasons and narratively it doesn't make sense. The fans feel as though it was a purely homophobic move and are hurt. The build up and then casting aside of a queer narrative is hurtful to queer audiences.

Queer audiences get such little scraps from shows as it is that the Magicians was a breath of fresh air and the chance to see our stories played out on screen. The chance for them to receive an equal narrative weight and taken seriously. Because the show, in the end, didn't follow through with Queliot, the queer fans feel baited. Queer baiting is a gross tactic to gain viewers and many queer fans are devastated for their trust to be betrayed in such a way. And this was a betrayal to queer audiences. Make no mistake, many queer fans will not be returning to see the show's fifth season.

Frankly, the Magicians has never had great queer representation. Eliot Waugh is really the only confirmed queer character and his storyline falls right into the unhappy gay man trope. In the first season, he has to kill off his fake boyfriend. In the second season, he's married off to a woman and essentially forbidden from sleeping with men. In the third season, we have A Life in the Day, which is then not acknowledged again for an entire season. Every other "queer rep" is literally a joke or not followed through. The amount of homophobia that runs through the show is a disappointment to fans who have identified with the queer characters. Sera Gamble and the other Magicians writers have made it perfectly clear how they feel about queer people and their storylines. This has been noted by the fans.

Further, the confirmation of Quentin's queerness and then his execution falls right into the Bury Your Gays trope. It falls right into the Hays Code and the idea that in order for queer people to exist on screen, there has to be negative consequences for being gay. Is this the kind of network SYFY wants to run? One that refuses to allow members of the LGBTQ community to be happy or to simply exist? Because by backing the choices the Magicians have made concerning their queer characters, that is what they have done. A large portion of the fantasy audience is queer people and yet we are continuously excluded from narrative, or included only to be killed off. 

This is also dangerous for viewers. According to the Trevor Project (https://www.thetrevorproject.org/resources/preventing-suicide/facts-about-suicide/#sm.0001fud2yh6a9ctju2r22bg7t0dyo) queer youth are five times as likely to attempt suicide than heterosexual youth. It is practically an epidemic in the community, the taking of their lives because they aren't given space to exist in the world. And yet the Magicians just allowed their queer main character to kill himself. This has devastated the viewers who identified with Quentin for his mental illnesses but also his queerness. 

Sea Gamble and her team of writers can say that "not even the white man is safe" and claim that Quentin's death is "ground breaking" but this is not the case when the character is suicidal and queer. A mentally ill queer person killing themself isn't ground breaking, it's a devastating reality that too many face and capitalizing on that trauma for the sake of shock value is disgusting and frankly, unforgivable. No matter what the writer's intentions might have been are irrelevant, this is the message they have sent out to their audiences. 

The fans have real concerns about this and if their concerns are going to be acknowledged at all. There's a fear that we will be written off as complaining about shipping or not getting our way, when in reality it runs so much deeper. The Magicians writers broke the trust and spirits of their audiences, and the betrayal will effect ratings and viewer numbers. Is the network going to acknowledge these concerns and the damage done to their audiences? This is a much bigger deal than just some upset fans. This was a catastrophic blow and a slap to the face to an already marginalized audience.

Please understand that even though there is anger in my tone and in my heart, this is also coming from a place of love. The Magicians has deeply affected my life and changed me as a person, which is why this betrayal hurts so deeply. Many other fans feel the same way, and many of us are not returning to the fifth season. I cannot speak for the entire fan base, but some recognition and acknowledgement or damage control (and even an apology) would make the world of a difference for an entire fandom that was just stabbed in the back and shaken to their core. Ignoring this problem will only cause a drop in ratings and numbers and be a blow to the network itself.

My Review of If It’s For My Daughter I’d Defeat the Demon Lord

How…?! *stares at the title*

Am I watching one of those Isekais that are everywhere nowadays? Oh, no I’m not. Then this must be one hell of a light novel for it to have this long of a title name. Yeah, like a lot of other folks, I got intrigued by the title. Actually, my first thought was if Maes Hughes from Full Metal Alchemist died his usual death and instead of staying dead, he went to another world and must defeat a demon lord in order to go back to be with his beloved daughter. Medea…what the flying hell was that? Come on, tell me I’m not the only one who thought that! The story is about a young male named Dale who happens to be a skilled adventurer. During one of his outings, he comes across a young girl. But this young girl is not like a regular human girl. As she has horns on her head, she’s known as a devil. But one of her horns is chipped which means she committed some sort of crime. But just look at this little girl!

Her only crime is looking so adorable! I mean come on, look at her. What crimes could she have possibly committed? Regardless, Dale just couldn’t leave her alone in the forest. By the looks of it, the girl’s father might have died protecting her so she’s all by herself. So Dale takes in the girl (who is named Latina). And now they’re living upstairs to a bar headed by Dale’s friends, Kenneth and Rita. Now being a sudden single parent is not going to be easy for Dale. For starters, Latina can only speak the language of devils. And secondly, what’ll happen if her devil side emerges or if certain groups find her offensive?! Well Dale is going to tackle this head on! Because for Latina, he would do anything, even defeat a demon lord! BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: As of the moment, Crunchyroll has streamed this. And seeing as this now officially has an English dub, it’s safe to say Crunchyroll has licensed it. As of today (11/24/2019), only two episodes are out. So far I have no issues with the dub. As for the sub, this is my first time listening to Latina’s seiyuu. And Dale…holy crap, this is a first in a long time! Nobuhiko Okamoto is playing someone who’s not a screaming psychopath! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from. JAPANESE CAST: *Dale is played by Nobuhiko Okamoto (known for Gladion on Pokemon SM, Accelerator on Index, Karma on Assassination Classroom, Rin on Blue Exorcist, Ryou on Food Wars, Usui on Maid-sama, and Bakugou on My Hero Academia) *Latina is played by Kanon Takao ENGLISH CAST: *Dale is played by Brandon Winckler (known for Eugeo on SAO: Alicization) *Latina is played by Ryan Bartley (known for Ram on Re:Zero, Gilda on The Promised Neverland, Mika on Love Live, Nina on Berserk 2016, and Rei on Evangelion [redub]) DISLIKED CHARACTER: Um…whoever caused Latina to be horribly depressed!

We’re supposed to protect this little girl’s smile. Devil or not, Latina caused pain to nobody! She did not need to have that psycho teacher chastise her in front of her classmates and cause her to almost commit suicide.

SHIPPING: I can’t say that there’s really anything ship-worthy here. I mean, there’s Latina’s classmate Rudy who seems to get all blushy around her. But they’re children, it’s cute. It almost reminds me of Hiro and Kisa from Fruits Basket. But I don’t think there’s anything else for me to mention here for…

…The love of God, please don’t do this! Yeah, we see this cute father/daughter relationship between Dale and Latina that many of us fear that this sweet little relationship is going to turn into something more…and go down a rather disgusting route. Obviously, this shouldn’t be taboo. Latina is NOT Dale’s real daughter, he just merely adopted her and took her in. It’s just that after the manga ending to Usagi Drop, many folks such as myself look at Dale and Latina and think, “For the love of God Dale, do not marry your devil daughter!” And now I’m just gonna look at some spoilers to hopefully debunk that horrible image in my head that is escalating into the anime version of Woody Allen and Soon-Yi.

He did it. Fuck. This cute anime is ruined. Dale x Latina. I’m a hard NO on that. ENDING: Halfway into the series, Dale and Latina go on a journey to Dale’s hometown to gather a few supplies and give Latina an opportunity to meet his parents, grandmother, and other family members. Several of the episodes, we get to see Latina at her utmost cutest hanging with doggy hybrids, wearing cute outfits, and learning many new things. After a few months away, Latina and Dale return to their home. And aside from Rita on the verge of giving birth, everything seems to be the same. Latina seems to have grown a lot during her trip. I sure hope the final episode wraps things up nicely…Eh!

In the final episode, Dale is visited by another traveler (and his ex), Helmine. Up to this point, we’ve only seen her in one episode and approximately 2 seconds in the opening theme. So she must be up to no good. Actually, she wants Dale to go with her on a mission to the royal capital (which we will not see because it’s the final episode). And then we get this dilemma that Latina notices, breast-size. Because Slutty McBigTits here makes Latina feel inferior. This is why we get a pouting face from Latina for some of the episode. I do give this moment some credit as we learn a little something about Latina’s mother because up to this moment we only know something about her father figure before he died. However, Latina’s mother is only brought up because Latina feels inferior knowing her mother has a petite frame and fears she’s going to be flat as an ironing board when she grows up. And then thinks that Dale has a thing for women like Busty McFlauntsItAll. Well it all gets resolved with some cute moment between Dale and Latina. Latina will be there waiting for Dale to return and Dale will be happy as hell to just hug his sweet Latina. So Dale leaves with Titty-Titty Bang-Bang (sorry, I had to get one more out)! We then see some random moments while Dale is away including some doggy hybrids coming to visit Latina and Rita going into labor and giving birth to…I don’t know what she had, I just know her baby came out healthy and happy. And we close with Dale coming home and Latina greeting him. This anime was just…okay. When I heard about this anime, I seriously wasn’t expecting a story like this. For one thing, I thought there would be more action, particularly involving a demon lord. I mean, the words “Demon Lord” are in the title. You’d think we get something like that happening! Like in the final two episodes we learn that there’s really a demon lord out there and he was the reason why he killed Latina’s father and banished her. In fact, we only hear about demon lords once in a while and then we stuff that to the side for more cutesy moments between Dale and his adopted devil daughter.

In fact, we rarely get any dramatic moments happening that much. The fourth episode however felt like a turning point in the show. And because of the dramatic moments surrounding Latina with her devil heritage, I thought there was going to be a major shift to more dramatic situations after Latina broke off her remaining horn and almost bled to death. Instead we are treated to more cutesy moments in another episode of, “My Little Demon Daughter Can’t Be This Cute”. Don’t get me wrong, there were some pretty serious moments like when Latina learns of human mortality compared to devils due to devils having twice the life-span of humans. But nothing as chilling as when a teacher called out Latina for being a devil and scaring the shit out of her.

I would say watch this anime just to see cute little devil girl, Latina. But 2019 has given us a boat-load of cute anime lolitas to fawn over like Filo and Raphtalia from Shield Hero, that fox Senko-san, and then absolute fan-favorite Nezuko from Demon Slayer. Yeah, Latina is probably bottom of that list now! For what it’s worth, it was an okay show. Not my favorite, but good to watch a cutesy devil girl. And an actual anime where Nobuhiko Okamoto is not a screaming hygena!

If you want to watch this anime, Crunchyroll has all 12 episodes available for streaming. The dub is slowly coming out Sunday mornings.

hi i’m dumb and wrote this with a female reader in mind. i know that shiro is confirmed queer in canon and i don’t want to leave my male readers hanging, so this one has male pronouns in it! hope you enjoy!

If there was one thing that Shiro loved more than the universe, it had to be his daughter. After coming back to Earth, he spent a lot of time by himself. Of course, he’d usually spend his days training with the MFE’s and training them into one of the best defenders of Earth. He’d also go out and talk to some children about the Galaxy Garrison and why it’s a good place to join. But after all of that, Shiro spent his nights alone, either busing himself with paperwork or training to keep his mind off of things. He always convinced himself that he didn’t have time for anything else.

His continuous volunteering at elementary schools to supply them with information about the Garrison had him questioning why he was even going there in the first place. With his position as captain, he could very well have any other officer under his rank do this task rather than him, but he refused to let anyone else go. Watching all of the kids looking at him in amazement as he told stories about his space travels made him realize that there was something missing in his life. Of course, before, with Adam, they’d planned to adopt kids after they got married, but that plan never happened. Shiro thought that he was only thinking about kids because of his partner, but he never realized that he would actually want children himself. 

So after a tedious adoption process, making sure that he wasn’t a criminal or anyone dangerous, he was finally put onto the list. That list in itself made him rather anxious, as he couldn’t wait to adopt a kid. Finally, after months and months of waiting rather impatiently, Shiro was finally allowed to adopt. Instead of adopting a baby like most folks did, he decided that he had no idea on how to take care of something so little so he decided to adopt a little girl, who was only seven.  Her name was Alice, and from that day forward, she was the most important person in his life. 

It was fair to say that everyone in the Garrison was used to Alice’s presence by the second week. Shiro refused to put Alice in daycare and would send harsh glares at anyone who questioned why a little girl was in the captain’s office. Of course, there were days when Alice would get restless and Shiro would let her go and run around with the supervision of Keith, who was less than thrilled about taking care of of kid, even if it was just for a few minutes. Most of the time she would stay inside his office, talking his ear off about anything and everything.

“—and then we went to the training room where I saw auntie Allura flip uncle Keith!”

Shiro smiled at his daughter, a fond look on his face. “Wow sweetheart, you weren’t near them, were you?”

She shook her head, a pout forming on her face. “No, uncle Keith said that I had to stay by the wall.”

Shiro huffed out a laugh, finishing off the last of his paperwork. “Well, he was probably making sure that you wouldn’t get hurt when they were sparring.”

“What’s sparring?” 

“It’s like play fighting. You don’t actually try to hurt each other, you just try to work on your skills.”

Alice made a face. “Auntie Allura seemed like she was hurting uncle,”

Shiro laughed wholeheartedly at that, fixing his desk before going to pick Alice up. “Well, don’t tell auntie Allura this, but she’s too strong for her own good.”

Shiro felt his smile growing larger at the sound of his daughter’s giggling. As they were heading back home Shiro decided to bring up a new topic: “So, are you ready to start school tomorrow?”

Alice nodded her head enthusiastically, wiggling a bit in his grip. “Yeah! I wanna make friends!”

The rest of the drive home consisted of Alice excitedly talking about going to school the next day. Takashi “Golden Boy” Shirogane was so thankful for having a kid who liked school.

The next day was the first time that Shiro had ever taken a day off. When he called in, telling Iverson that he wouldn’t be in, Iverson immediately began to question him. He asked whether or not Shiro was sick, if someone died, if Shiro died again and Allura resurrected him. 

After about ten minutes of assuring Iverson that, no, he wasn’t sick, and no, no one had died, he went to check up on his daughter, who was currently getting dressed for school. Knocking on the door, he called for her:

“Hey, sweetheart, you almost done? We’ll be late!”

At the sound of his voice Alice opened the door, a gigantic grin on her face. “Let’s go!”

Tugging her father’s hand, she ran towards the door, eliciting a laugh from Shiro. Once they were in the car, Alice kept telling Shiro about how excited she was to start school, and that she couldn’t wait to meet her teacher. 

Fifteen minutes later and they finally made it to the school. Getting out of the car, he moved to open the door for Alice, helping her out of it. Locking the car, he took her hand in his, allowing himself to be pulled along to the entrance.

“Do you know who your teacher is?” Shiro asked, looking around at the first grade section of the building.

“Mr. (y/l/n)!” Alice said happily. 

Shiro nodded his head, walking over towards the first grade classrooms and looking at the name tags. He finally reached a door with little birds surrounding a name tag reading “Mr. (y/l/n)’s First Grade Class”. Walking inside the class he was greeted by twenty or so little kids jumping around while the parents were huddled in a corner. He let go of Alice’s hand, kneeling down to meet her eyes.

“Go and make some friends, okay? I’ll go talk to your teacher,”

Alice nodded, skipping away to talk to some of her classmates. Standing back up, Shiro brushed his shirt off and scanned the room, looking for the teacher. When he finally found the teacher, he felt himself freeze.

Yes, Shiro may have come in contact with an Altean princess who was extremely gorgeous, and yes, he’s also met many alien men who were also exceptionally attractive, but he doesn’t think that they could compare to you. 

You were currently getting some things in order on your desk, your glasses slipping down your nose slightly. Seeing how you were flustered with the amount of kids in your room only added to your attractiveness. There was a sort of domestic aura that you omitted that made Shiro want to get to know you. Walking over to you, he cleared his throat to gain your attention.

“Hey, sorry to bother you, I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m Takashi Shirogane, Alice Shirogane’s dad.”

You looked at him for a second, momentarily dazed by how attractive he was, before shaking his hand. “(y/n) (y/l/n), it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Letting go of his hand, you pointed at him, brows furrowing slightly, “Aren’t you from the Garrison?”

Shiro nodded his head, flushing slightly. “Ah, yeah. I’m the captain of the Atlas,”

Your eyes widened in realization. Pushing back your hair you frantically tried to look “presentable”. “I’m so sorry, I’m just a little frazzled—“

“That’s alright,” Shiro laughed, rubbing the back of his neck, “It’s the first day of school, everyone’s freaking out.”

You nodded your head, a sheepish smile on your face. Taking a deep breath, you calmed yourself. “Well, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Today we allow the parents to stay in the class, to get an understanding of what we’ll be doing,” You pointed towards the corner of parents, “Parents sit over there.”

Shiro nodded his head, a smile of his face. “Alright, thank you.”

Once he left, you let out a huge sigh. Looking at the clock, you readied yourself, starting the class off.

“Good morning class!”

“So how was your first day?” Shiro asked, holding his daughters hand while walking out to the car.

“Amazing!” Alice squealed, “I met so many friends today! And Mr. (y/l/n) is so nice!”

Shiro nodded his head, a smile creeping onto his face at the thought of you. Buckling Alice in, he got into the drivers seat, looking at her through the rear view mirror.

“Hey Alice, can you keep a secret?”

That seemed to catch her attention, as she nodded rapidly, an excited look on her face. Shiro sighed, a content look on his face.

“I think I have a crush on Mr. (y/l/n),”

Alice gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. “What?”

Shiro put a finger to his lips, making a quiet “shh” noise. “You can’t tell anyone though,” Thinking back to your flustered state, he grinned, “But I think he’s very handsome.”

Alice squealing in the backseat made Shiro’s smile grow in size. Sighing, he kept his eyes on the road and prayed that Alice wouldn’t say anything to you about it. He was debating on whether or not it was a good idea on telling his young daughter about his secret crush on the teacher.

It was not a good idea to tell Alice about his crush on you. The next morning Shiro woke Alice up and started their day by making her pancakes, then dressed in his uniform. After breakfast Alice was ready to go to school. Hopping into the car, Shiro quickly, but safely, drove them to the school, just like yesterday.

Once they were there, Shiro went to help Alice out of the car and walked her to your class, and that’s when Shiro regretted his life choices.

“Mr. (y/l/n)!” Alice quickly rushed over towards you, a gigantic smile on her face.

You leaned down, smiling as you greeted her. “Good morning, Alice. You seem excited.”

She nodded her head. “I need to tell you something, but you need to promise that you’ll keep it a secret!”

She held out her pinkie finger, and Shiro’s gut dropped to the floor. You laughed, entwining your pinkie with her’s. “Alright, what’s up?”

“My dad told me he has a crush on you.”

You raised an eyebrow, looking at the extremely embarrassed man behind her. “Is that so?”

She nodded her head. You smiled, patting her on the shoulder. “Why don’t you go and talk to the other students?”

Alice chirped in agreement, running off to see some of her friends. Standing back up, you crossed your arms, a smirk finding its way onto your face.

“So,” You started, “A crush, you say?”

He turned away from you, his face starting to heat up. “Yeah, you can ignore what she said.”

You tilted your head in confusion for a second, before walking over to your desk and scribbling something on a piece of paper. Tearing the piece off, you handed it to him, a smile on your face.

“Well Mr. Shirogane, I know that you’re a busy man, so I won’t keep you here. But when you want to tell me about your little ‘secret’, call me.”

With that, you walked over to the group of students, ushering them to their assigned seats. Shiro looked down at the tiny piece of paper, smiling at the numbers that stretched across it. Looking at you one last time, he walked out of the class, tucking the small paper into his uniform pocket.

He couldn’t wait until his shift was over.
