43. kissing away tears
It comes out in one sharp burst of words as soon as she sets him down. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
Adrien doesn't respond, gaze fixed on a puddle scattered in the concrete.
She hates this. Hates the way he won't look at her, hates the way she always ends up yelling at him, hates the fact that they keep having this conversation over and over again, as if it will make any difference to what he does.
Ladybug sighs, leaning back against the brick. She glances down at her fists. Still shaking.
"Adrien,” she says softly. “I'm not going to die again.”
He swallows hard, looking down at his ring. The sky is a blue square of light in his eyes.
She doesn't remember much about that fight. It started just after sunset and ended when it started getting light again, but everything in between is empty, a hollowness she can feel, trace her hands around the shape of but never be able to fill, no matter how many news reports she's read about it. All she knew was that it was a sentimonster — a giant, black wolf — and that the Tour de l'Horloge rang out only twice before she died.
Chat Noir had to take her earrings while the sentimonster was still on top of her.
She was back by the end of the battle, when he’d used her Cure on the city. She remembers standing up, brushing the dirt off her clothes, and bumping her fist against his once he came to find her. He didn’t mention what happened, and so she didn't either.
He speaks after a long pause. "How do you know I'm thinking about that?"
"Because you haven't looked me in the eye all afternoon." She reaches out for his hand. "Adrien. I know you're scared. But you can't keep putting yourself in danger just to save me."
His fingers loosen around hers. Slowly, he slips his hand away and puts it in his pocket.
She stares at the space where it used to be, pretending that didn't sting.
"What if it were me?" he says.
She looks at him. "If what were you?"
"If it were me that had to die that night." Finally, he meets her gaze. "If you had to see me like that."
"That's…" She trails off. "I don't know."
He lets out a scoff. "Yeah. Thought so."
She raises her eyebrows. "What?"
"Nothing."
"No, tell me."
"You'll just yell at me again. Just like you always do."
Her mouth falls open. She wants to be sympathetic. She does. But it's hard when he becomes cold like this, when it feels like she has to smoke him out of the walls he's built around himself.
"Adrien," she says coolly. "It was one battle. And I came back. If anything happened to me again, the Cure would fix it." She looks at him. "What the Cure can't fix is if Hawk Moth gets hold of our Miraculous because you jeopardise our plan by throwing yourself in front of an akuma."
He sets his gaze on her, hard and unyielding. "Wouldn't you do the same for me?" he says. "If it were me who'd died?"
She swallows hard. “I’d just use the Cure."
He scoffs. “Bullshit. You’d tear up the whole city.”
A deep breath leaves through her nose. She wonders, briefly, if this is why he keeps doing this. To teach her a lesson. To get even with her.
"I'm not saying that I'd handle it well," she says. "I'm saying that, sometimes, shit happens. But I have my Cure. We need to remember that. We can't just toss away all our strategies just because we're scared. That's not the way we've ever done things."
His silence is cold and sharp. "Because back then I could look at your face without remembering what it looked like when you were dead."
His voice cracks mid-sentence.
Any further argument dies in her throat.
Adrien yanks his hand out of his pocket and fumbles with his ring. He slides it off, and holds it out to her. “Take it,” he spits. “Find another Chat Noir. One who wouldn’t care if you died.”
She stares at him. "You're not serious."
"I'm completely serious." His voice is shaking. "I can't do this job anymore. Not if it means having to be okay with seeing you hurt for the sake of the battle."
She looks down at his ring. A thin thread of sky light traces the shank. He's not taking it back.
Her first instinct is to tell him to put his ring back on and agree to talk about this when they've both cooled down. But this feels like more than just something said in the heat of the moment. Something that he might actually… want.
And… she doesn't blame him. It would be easier, wouldn't it?
At least the next time she died, he wouldn't be the one to see her body.
She closes her eyes, a lump swelling in her throat.
But she's not sure anyone else would save her the way he did. Take the risk of wielding the Ladybug against a canine sentimonster just so they could possibly summon the Cure by the end of it.
When she opens her eyes, tears are streaming down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry," she says softly. Reaching up, she touches his face. "You're right. You shouldn't have had to see that."
His fingers curl around his Miraculous.
He squeezes his eyes shut, lowering his head. "I thought I lost you," he says quietly. "That— that whole battle, I just remember knowing you were lying there, knowing what happened to you, so sure that I would never see you again—"
She steps closer right away, pressing herself as close to him as she can, fingers sliding on his wet cheeks and into his hair while she kisses the tears off his face.
"I'm sorry," she says. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'll always stay alive."
"Always?" he asks, lifting his gaze to meet hers.
She holds it firmly, watching every shard of light glitter in his tears. "Always. For you."

Hi I have been seeing some mutual games going around and I wanted to ask if you could do this one 😊 I saw this somewhere else so credits
I saw that you were desi and wanted to know what desi names you'd give your mutuals.
Thanks I love your blog sm ✨
HELLO I LOVE THIS
im gonna lean into more pakistani names bc that's where I'm from but some of these may overlap bc a lot of Pakistani names are also Muslim names so
@rubyreduji to jj I give the name hamza (hum-zah). I've always liked this name it sounds very elegant strong, which fits bc it means strong and steadfast. honestly one of the best boy names in my book lol
@toruro ok mika gives me ammarah (AM-ma-rah) vibes, again this is a name ive always really liked it sounds very regal and sophisticated and something i rlly wanted to be named lol but it means strong faithed but it can mean different things based on pronunciation!!
@glowunderthemoon ok for faye im gonna give her noor-ul-ain (nur-ul-ayen) or (nur-ul-en). its also just noor for short! another very pretty name and a lot of its beauty lies in the meaning, it means light of the eye (noor=light) which really just explains itself lol
@etherealyoungk SKYE GETS zunairah (zun-e-rah), ok this name just reeks of power?? almost?? it sounds like a very strong name to me which is the opposite of what it means, it means flower which basically insinuates that skye is a pretty lil flower but shes also lowk a badass so
@ressonancee Thea and I have only recently started talking but i think i have her name down. i give her hiba (hib-ba) which, very fittingly, means gift. with the way she helped with my cheol fic and basically birthed the idea of hockeyplayer!cheol i think this name truly is for her. also she writes amazing so shes a gift to caratblr in general ksjgnrj
@fairyhaos ok to yena i give the name zayna (zaj-na) which means beauty and grace! the name and the meaning work together really well bc just the sound of the name is very pretty and that's also what it means. also with the half face reveals i have seen of hers she VERY MUCH fits this name so lol
@sluttywoozi Emily and I havent talked much but I'm gonna assign her a name anyway lol. to emily i give alizeh (uh-LEE-ze)which means wind or breeze. another name i LOVE so much its such a hot girl name and i think it fits em very well
@highvern ok cam and i havent interacted much either (hello text me pls) but I'm going to give her gul bano (gul-bah-noh). It means princess of flowers but don't let the meaning fool you, every gul bano I've met is some of the strongest, liveliest women i have ever seen. cam is very fun, super witty and just a joy to see in my notifs so ya there's that hehe
these are a lot of names and a lot of people so if i missed anyone, I'm sorry, i really tried to get as many in as possible!!!

✿ a short review about this woven kingdom & these infinite threads. ✿
❥ alizeh has already become one of my favorite protagonists. she is extremely smart, articulate, and very kind. she has a strong personality, but that doesn't stop her from being polite. she is also quite independent and knows how to make her choices clearly, even being empathetic the way she is. she's refreshing in a sea of cliched female character archetypes. (really, the way she can butt heads with all the characters, including her romantic partners, is amazing to me. she doesn't shy away from anyone.)
❥ kamran reminds me of adam, but he's like an adam with personality. i was able to be moved by his feelings and feel empathy, but he is one of the most realistic monarch characters i have ever seen. his vision of the things that happen to him is extremely limited and summarized in his privileged life. it takes him a LONG time to understand that he can act entitled, and even then he doesn't really understand. something that bothers me a lot about his romance with alizeh is how easily he discredits her even though he makes such passionate statements. he looks so volatile. although this is understandable given his position as a prince, his love is not convincing enough for me. he doesn't need much to say that he wants to kill her, he never has concrete proof and always gets carried away by the situation. alizeh's friends seem to have more affection for her than him, despite the intensity of his feelings and his passionate statements. (also, i think his feelings are almost one-sided since alizeh doesn't spend much time thinking about him and there isn't much romance in the first book.)
❥ cyrus is by far the most interesting character. mainly, perhaps, because we don't know what his motivations are for doing what he did, he's a box of surprises. he seems to have a lot of story to tell. and he's so incredibly charming, being funny and provocative at the same time. he's a pretty easy character to get attached to. his romance with alizeh, for me, is one of the best parts. in this book (as he only becomes relevant in the second book) alizeh reacts to him as intensely as he reacts to her. from the start, the two disarm each other with ease and it's clearly mutual and something that seems to want to explode. the way he truly suffers for her from the beginning, and for his own choices in life, is quite moving and makes me hope that he has a happy ending with alizeh. there's something of a forbidden romance here that is breathtakingly tragic, and i'm so excited to see what happens next!
❥ the mythology of these books was so interesting to me. the way tahereh developed it is cohesive and linear for me. i have always admired her writing, going back to the first shatter me books, but for me here it is just spectacular. although it is a fantasy book, it was very easy for me to understand the story and acquire a fluid reading pace. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the saga!

Omggg I just finished binge reading ondlb and I am IN LOVE!! Its so good am amazed at your writing!! Literally the best enemies fic in the fandom and one of my all time favs!!
ahh thank you! 🥺🙏🏼💗 sometimes i shake my head at myself for going so hard on a fanfic, but honestly i'm really proud of how it's turning out! i'm so so glad you're enjoying it 💕
if you like odnlb, i have more enemies au recs for you by some very talented authors who are truly skilled and whose abilities give me this exact feeling!
Tumblr media
citrus and lavender by @heartfulselkie - this is like one of THE fics that inspired odnlb! the way selkie writes is just delicious, and the story is incredibly and lovingly crafted. they are exceptionally good at grabbing you by the heartstrings and making you feel the characters' emotions in your own body. c&l is one of my favorites and has a really special place in my heart <3
as time goes by by @redundant-lava - based on casablanca - 1942. it's amazingly written, clever, and emotionally gutting. this was MADE to be an mlb enemies au and lava did such a good job with it. i will never stop rec-ing it!
once more, with feeling by @zimtlein - this one is rated e, just a heads up. it's so so good! the way the relationship develops between marinette and adrien had me reeling from the first chapter. it's kind of dark but sooo romantic. if it's your speed, it's a good one to binge!
et donc, ils dansent by dame_de_la_chance - amazing, awe-inspiring! the feelings i felt while reading this! the way the enemies dynamic is portrayed is just so juicy, and there's so much pining. i go back and read it every so often to soak in the masterfulness.
heroes don't love villains by vrdant - gosh this one is so good. i have read it so many dozens of times and it's still not enough. this author is such a good writer and captures feelings so well. this one will be burned into your soul for sure.
marionette strings by @rosekasa (maketea on ao3) - absolutely stunning. omg. i reread it again while writing these recs and it shook me to my soul. alizeh is a master of the craft and a master of enemies ladynoir. this fic changed me and it will change you too.
(can i rec my own fic as well? matter of luck is just a fun romp. i haven't abandoned it, just had all my time sucked in by odnlb :) but as soon as that's done, back i go to matter of luck!)
all of these fics have inspired and influenced me in some way. i cannot rec each one enough, especially because enemies ladynoir is currently my favorite flavor of fic >:))

Did i just finish All This Twisted Glory in one sitting? Yes. Yes, I did.
3 🌟
Again no plot ,but i ate every Cyrus amd Alizeh crumbs .
Cyrus 😮‍💨. Love that Man.
Alizeh was ok here. I still like her.
We need to give Kamran the Adam treatment cause this man can't stfu to save he's life. I can’t believe i felt somewhat like love to that man on the 2nd book.
Hazan my man 🤌. He's giving kenji vibes. He doesn't take shit from anyone. And the way he's protective of Alizeh🫶.
Miss huda is definitely a girls girl. And i love her for that.
Omid is just a comedian at this point.
Deen is great too.
Anyways, This series is ok, nothing much. I do like the writing in this series better that the Shatter me series tho

i am so so so lost
This woven kingdom has me so much more obsessed than shatter me ever did because the writing is gorgeous and tahereh mafi sure does know how to write OBSESSED men.But what really gets me confused is like who is the male lead because huh???I mean we get kamrans pov and alizeh shares a kiss with him AND a forbidden romance so i mean what more could we ask for. But at the same time we have CYRUS so even thought he’s a ginger is so obviously in love and will do EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING FOR ALIZEH AND its an enemies to lovers but if kamran isnt the male lead why do we even have his pov like whats the point. If we like go back to shatter me as a comparison why would you include a non male lead pov in the MAIN BOOK why wouldnt you include a novella like surely he is the male lead? But then there is cyrus who has BANTER HE HAS ANGST HE HAS OBSESSION HE HAS THE I WILL SACRIFICE IT ALL FOR YOU MINDSET SO UNLESS TAHEREH MY QUEEN WANTS ME TO KMS (jokes😝) THEN SHE BETTER MAKE IT CLEAR😭😭

i just recently finished this woven kingdom by tahereh mafi, and here are my thoughts!
to begin, i rate the book 4.3/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
as always, tabereh’s writing is stunning, her descriptions, never fail to amaze me! i would have liked a little more background information and character development on alizeh, her story was a bit confusing at times and i felt as if she stayed pretty static throughout the book, but otherwise i really enjoyed a cool twist on a “cinderella story”, and will definitely read book 2! 🌹

✩🪡🌹 Review:
Mafi’s first book in her new fantasy trilogy is breathtaking!
“This Woven Kingdom” alternates between the viewpoints of Alizeh (the long lost heir to a Jinn Kingdom living as a servant) and Kamran (the crown Prince of Ardunia). Both characters lead wildly different lives because of their status in society, which allows the reader to see Ardunia at its best and worst.
Alizeh and Kamran’s chance meeting sparks a forbidden attraction that reaches a fever pitch as the novel progresses. Their shared moments were few and far between, but had an addictive quality to them that kept me engaged and eager to keep reading. The knife to the throat passages paired with Mafi’s lyrical and descriptive prose is magic on the page.
Another aspect of the novel that made it so captivating is how Mafi weaves elements of Persian mythology into her world-building. At the novel’s outset she establishes Ardunia as a powerful empire populated by Jinn (humanoids that possess strength, speed, and rapid healing abilities) and humans. Only Kamran knows that the empire is at risk of falling because of water scarcity and Alizeh’s existence. These threats to the throne nicely set up two of the novel’s main conflicts: the war over water with the neighboring empire of Tulan and the hunt for the Jinn prophesied to bring Ardunia to its knees. Both conflicts work well with the tropes Mafi incorporates in her writing (forbidden love and enemies to lovers) and intrigued me as a reader.
➤ 4.5 stars

These Infinite Threads by Tahereh Mafi
These Infinite Threads by Tahereh Mafi is a feat of technical brilliance. The sequel to This Woven Kingdom is a continuation of the Persian-inspired YA high fantasy book that stole my heart. The book's magic system and lore are so well thought out. I love the attention to physical detail and lyrical prose. It also helps that somehow Mafi constructs characters that get right to the center of my very being every time. Be forewarned I will be spoiling things from here on out. The book picks up right where the last one left off in the aftereffects of a particularly deadly fight in the middle of a ball. Prince Kamran's grandfather is lying dead and he is gravely injured. I continue to find his struggle with anxiety so carefully handled. His whole book happens over the course of a brisk two days as his life is slowly dismantled. Kamran has to come to terms with a lot and decide who he can and can't trust before he decides what he has to do. His emotional rollercoaster is not aided by the fact that he is getting used to living with disfigurement from the fire at the ball. He is moving so fast but it still feels like he is playing catch-up the whole time. That is to say, I loved his POV. Then we have the other half of the story from Alizeh's perspective as she is unwillingly whisked away to a foreign kingdom by King Cyrus. Mafi knows how to write a tragic sad boy who is trying his best and let me tell you Cyrus might be a new pinnacle. He is so tragic even Alizeh, who admittedly does not want to marry a man who is in a contract with the devil, feels bad for him. Her endless compassion is one of the best things about her as a character. I love that she frequently gets mad and changes her mind and cries. I think having emotionally vulnerable and unsure characters in fantasy at large is incredibly important. She is just so so good and then you pair her up with two of the saddest royals in literature and you get magic. I just love her as a character so much and I need the next book. I have no idea how it's all going to resolve now that Cyrus has become a more reasonable option (if we can get rid of the whole devil thing). Honestly, knowing Mafi I will be happy with anything that gets thrown my way, but here are my probably incorrect theories. Cyrus will marry Alizeh and together they will kill the devil with the help of Prince Kamran's magic (it's broken). Kamran will fall for someone in the odd traveling group that rescued him from the tower. I am still down for Kamran and Alizeh being endgame though. Oh, I wonder if someone is going to die. So many possibilities. All that being said, I would highly recommend you get your hands on book 2 because this book is literary gold and I need everyone to appreciate it's brilliance. Come, buy it, and be absolutely dazzled.

This Woven Kingdom (Review)
✩‧₊˚  Rating: 3.5  ✧.* This book really got me out of my slump. After a long one-year break from reading, I picked up This Woven Kingdom from a random recommendation on my feed while looking up books on the search engine. This is not the first time I’ve read a Tahereh Mafi book; I had read the first book of the Shatter Me series and dropped it shortly after beginning the second book. I wasn’t a fan of her first series, but I was willing to give her books a second try. I can say that I definitely liked this first book way better than the first book of Shatter Me. The pacing, I felt, was way better, and I felt I could connect more easily with the characters. However, I still felt like there was something missing when I was reading it. My first gripe had to be with the writing. The entire read felt too much like a chore with the back-to-back prose throughout the book. Everything had to be described with multiple metaphors, with no break at all in between. My brain had honestly melted as I was reading because of the way that it wanted to insist on the fact that the language was so fancy. It was a captivating read, but, with no spoilers, I felt as if the plot could barely hold itself together when it came to the actual dire consequences. A lot of what Alizeh did felt as if she was reacting to the situations that were presented to her rather than going out of her way to figure stuff out herself. I believe that this is caused by the main character not having a real goal in mind or a motivation other than surviving, so the situations that the author puts her in are ones that she herself has fallen into without influencing that decision. Kamran himself was also someone that I didn’t exactly hate but didn’t have any strong feelings towards. His role in the story was basically to mess up whatever life Alizeh built for herself and then be mesmerized by her cunning (which she didn’t have any intention of doing in the first place). I felt like his side of the story was missing a point, like Alizeh could have been the only POV written by the author and the story would've been the same. (slight spoilers ahead) Look, I’m just like any other person and love a good simp, but the simpiness from Kamran felt undeserving, as if Alizeh's existence was all Kamran needed to fall head over heels. I must admit, I am not a fan of insta-love, but this type of insta-love was too much for me. Kamran falls in love with her as soon as he sees her for the first time, and because of that, the romance felt super underdeveloped and "unrealistic". Alizeh basically only met Kamran halfway through and barely knew him enough to actually love him, while also criticizing him earlier in the book. I felt like it could've turned into enemies to lovers, but I was unfortunately disappointed.     The worldbuilding, I had to admit, was super interesting and could have led to a super interesting setting that could have been affected by the existence of Jinn, such as things that could detect Jinn or specific guards meant to handle Jinn. Instead, the book insisted that the Jinn were extremely powerful while undermining Alizeh’s own powers. A lot of the obstacles that she faces seem like something that she could easily face, keeping herself out of danger. The other characters in the story also seem to underestimate her abilities while hyping her up to be something deadly. (MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD) My biggest gripe has to be at the end of the book when a creature of magical nature shows up out of the blue. It was known that Cyrus had strong magical abilities, but magic in this world is barely fleshed out as it is. There could have been so many more uses for the Diviners or other magical beings that could have hinted at the existence of other magical beings. There was nothing that could have prepared me for the being that shows up at the end, totally out of left field. (MAJOR SPOILER OVER) As far as I’m aware, this book was pretty well received, which is something I agree with, but the things that I mentioned definitely dampened my opinion of the book itself, and I feel like I could have said more, but I don’t have the memory of everything that happened. I am still interested in reading the next book, however, and I can’t wait to start.

Tired and I’m not super speedy with replies. Please be sure to read my rules before asking to write together, but if after that you’re still interested please message me as I’m typically open to plot and can usually make new characters if need be!
Has it been a while since I’ve responded to a DM/IM? Check my personal post tag to see if I’ve made any updates.
APRIL 2023: Currently on a HIATUS. Replies will be very sporadic; not accepting new plots.

ABOUT • RULES • CHARACTERS • NAVIGATION • PLOT BUNNIES • ASK MEMES
Characters lacking a bio doesn’t indicate being a “main” or “test” character, it just means I haven’t gotten to it yet. Since I can’t have two pinned posts, below the cut are specific plot ideas I’d like for some of my characters. They can be revised as necessary to fit other genres aside from modern day. Please review their general information on my character page!
Tumblr media
These are just the main things to keep in mind, but please read my FULL RULES before asking to write together!
• I will not write with anyone or any character under the age of 21. No exceptions. Same goes for the FC of your character, they must be 21+. I reply about 1-2 times per week. I can’t do frequent replies every day or every other day due to my busy schedule. • Please DO NOT reblog any of my graphics unless you were tagged in it or have otherwise received my explicit permission to do so. • Most of my characters are women as I primarily write F/F for romantic ships because that’s what I’m most comfortable with, but I am willing to write other gender romantic pairings. Anything goes for platonic relationships. If you’re interested in a M/F ship with one of my women characters, you can ask but I’m picky, sorry. Most prefer women anyway despite whatever sexuality they are.       • I’m open to platonic plots and encourage them too! • I’m open to just about any genre despite whatever genre I write my characters in as their main verse. They’re nearly all pretty flexible with being dropped into other settings and I enjoy branching out and doing different types of genres.
𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑-𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒
If romance isn’t specified then the plot doesn’t have to include it. The gender-pairings listed are only applicable when it comes to romantic connections, but irrelevant otherwise.
My muse for my guys is fickle which is why there are few to no plots listed for them. If you're interested in any of my guys let me know and we can create a plot together!
ALEXIS CAINE. 37. Medical examiner (mildly corrupt). F/F.
M.E./“Client”; changes the evidence to push a case into her favor for the sake of your character who is either being wrongly charged/suspected (e.g. being framed) or is on a track for receiving a harsh punishment for something that wasn’t their fault or an accident.
Coworkers-ish; she’s convinced to work with a private detective and help them with a case. Maybe the P.I. discovered what she does: tampering with evidence if she deems the case being unfair against the suspect, whom she will meet with first prior to agreeing to work together. They could’ve baited her into meeting.
Friends to lovers; your character could be the lawyer she works with on the cases which she’s altered the evidence or someone she works with (lab tech, detective, etc.). Basically sunshine/grump dynamics.
ALIZEH ROSHAN. 37. Personal assistant (aspiring chief of law). F/F.
Boss/P.A.; she’ll try to leave as soon as things heat up.
Exes/Past affair; in a chose of the relationship or her career Alizeh would pick her career. This could’ve been why things ended or not or one of many reasons.
Rivals to lovers; coworkers, working for rival companies, or your character could be CEO of a startup that’s rivaling Alizeh’s boss’ company, etc.
CAMILLA ZHU. 58. Spy / Hitman for a criminal organization. F/F.
Hitman, Spy/Target (can be a criminal, wealthy/prominent public figure, or regular civilian)
Mentor/Protégé
Rivals; whether they work with the same organization or they work on opposing sides.
Defective agent; someone who gets her to betray her organization and either work for a rivaling organization or partner up with your character and they work independently.
Betrayal (ex-friends, lovers, or something in between); current or former partners where one betrayed the other.
Enemies to friends/lovers; forced to work together for a mission, but start out hating one another.
Forced proximity; forced partnership for a mission leads to forced proximity (sharing a room/only one bed, hiding in lots of cramped spaces that puts them physically close, etc.); this can go with any of the above ideas.
ESPERANZA CORONA. 43. Councilperson. F/F, M/F.
Exes; from before she became a councilperson.
Target/Hitman; someone is targeting her for a shot at her seat.
Rivals; a rivaling politician or up and coming politician.
EVA HAWTHORNE. 47. Socialite / Artist (anonymous). F/F.
Crime; can be pulled into crime unwittingly as an art forger.
Boss’s wife/Personal Assistant; Eva is gay but very lowkey, almost secretive, about it due to being married to a prominent man for the sake of her family. This could be a legal age gap, but no one under 35.
INGRID SALINAS. 42. Head of herpetology at a museum. F/F, F/M.
Spouses; with a rocky relationship. She doesn’t know how to fix things so she focuses more on work yet at the same time fears the relationship’s ending in the same poor way her parents’ marriage did.

Hitman/Hitman
Ex-friend, partner, etc.; Someone who knew her in the past as a lawyer before she became the wrathful, hollow version of herself that she is now.
Platonic or Romantic anything; Someone to teach her how to let go of her grief and channel her rage into something constructive.
REGAN SLOANE. 32. Bodyguard. F/F.
Hired for a heist; but she ends up getting close to your character who could either be a team member for the heist or the target.
Bodyguard/Client; your character could be a criminal, someone of importance, etc. that Regan has to protect.
RILEY THORTON. 35. Hitman. F/F, F/M.
Past gang member; someone who was apart of the gang she brought to ruin. They could be someone who had a high position (not the leader, as they’re deceased) and want revenge for some reason.
Investigator/Hitman; Someone who’s onto Riley, but doesn’t yet have solid enough evidence that she’s behind the gang’s collapse and this could be their big break if they can crack the story open. In this scenario Riley would work as a bartender as a cover job.
Clients; someone who’s hired her past or present and starts to be a repeat client for some reason and use this opportunity to get to know her.
Hitman vs. Hitman; someone who’s been hired to target Riley for something she did to the client that crossed them enough to want her gone.
SEVERIN VOLKE. Ancient; appears 38. Angel. Hitman / Various crime. F/F, *F/M (*for a casual relationship)
Guardian angel/Charge; Severin is a terrible angel and was exiled from Heaven for their violence and disobedience. In the process of turning into a fallen angel. They could protect your character for selfish reasons, but end up coming to their rescue (or to be a nuisance) on multiple occasions.
Guardian demon/Charge; similar to the above except Severin has nearly finished the transition from fallen angel to demon. Though they’ve embraced their chaotic nature there’s still a small part of them that’s good and that part is what leads them to protect your character.
VASCO RIVAS. 30. Thief. M/M, M/F. Original verse is historical, but can be switched into another with ease.
Thief/Target (royalty, noble, commoner)

VALDIS ALMAZAN SOLVEIG. 41. Werewolf. Homicide detective / Bodyguard. F/F.
Bodyguard (maybe hitman)/Client; bonus if the client is a prominent criminal, preferably one who isn’t totally cold-hearted. Valdis could come to work as a hitman or bodyguard for your character if she comes to respect them enough.
Detective/Relative or friend of victim
Detective/Lawyer
VALERIA AGUILAR. 50. Hitman. F/F. Note: she’s immortal, but doesn’t think there’s anyone else out in the world who is as well.
Another immortal person

Liberation; she’s captured in a science lab, being used as a test subject but your character chooses to secretly try and help her escape despite this also putting your character in danger.
Hitman/Target, Hitman, or Client
Enemies or friends with benefits to lovers
YANMEI YIN. 53. Editor-in-chief at EXPOSÉ. F/F, F/M. Can also be written further back in her lifetime when she still worked as a police detective pre- or post-coverup scandal before quitting to pursue journalism.
Target/Hunter; someone related to a person who’s had their wrongdoings exposed by Yanmei and either are going after her themselves or your character is someone who’s been hired by someone to go after Yanmei. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a hitman!
Informant; the one Yanmei goes to for advice repeatedly. She knows they don’t work exclusively for her so she’s careful around them. The price asked of her could become more dangerous and not just about money.
Ex-spouses; Yanmei was married once, though it fell apart for a variety of reasons, but in part because of her unyielding personality although she’d have been gentler in a relationship. But still stubborn and blunt with her opinions. They’re always chasing stories too.
