TMNT POLLS PSA
I've explained this in my reblog tags of this post, please keep the TMNT polls fun and please be sure that the AU/Iteration/Fic creators are actually okay with being part of them.
**Not about polls I've been added in, but polls I've seen, and growing trends me and others have noticed. As always, please don't harass anyone.
Specifically the more popularity-poll-ish ones, ones that teeter on or are straight up serious, it can be discouraging for those who didn't ask for it. Some may fear speaking up about it because other people are having fun despite how they themselves feel about it. Especially when polls specifically put one well-known fanwork over a smaller one. Worse yet when you're dropped into it without awareness from beforehand. Hell, even when the creators have a similar size, it can hurt.
I've recently gotten some anon messages like this. Though I haven't seen that attitude in response to my AU in polls, it's the type of attitude I've seen towards a couple other creators.
Being publicly compared to others by hundreds, sometimes up to thousands, can be anxiety-inducing. As easy as it is to say that "the unpopularity of your work should not discourage you," truth be told, there's truth to the saying "comparison kills creativity."
To have your work being used to put down someone else? Someone who's working just as hard? Who's just trying to share an idea just like you? Or to be dismissed?
As stated by the authors of MMC and OMO, while it may seem like you're uplifting your favorite in this, it's awkward. It can be stressful.
For those with less votes, it's hard not to think that yours is being called "less than." An "I've never heard of the other one lmao" can feel like a punch in the gut.
There's also animosity towards more bigger fanworks because of the pedestal they've been put on.
All that, and not even wanting to be there in there first place.
These things should and can encourage creativity and growth. AUs crossing over, banter, propaganda posts, etc.
Around the time Tumblr first rolled out the poll function, I was included in The Night AU creator's Sep AU polls. Me and the poll creator, Ray, both got last place in 2 respective polls, hence why we call TN!Leo/Green and TD!Leo/Trainee the "Losers Duo." Key part being: there was the awareness that this was simply in good fun. And I enjoyed being included.
Getting to know the creators of The Night, Red Rover, Life Mission, Blood Bath, and SLAU was and still is an amazing experience. The amount of crossover art we've made is evident of how much I've loved its turnout. I'm still planning on making more crossover work in the future.
It was some of the most actual fun I've had in fandom since I was 12. I'm 20 by the end of the year.
Tumblr media
TL;DR
Respect the boundaries of fanwork creators and don't be an asshole for fuck's sake.

can i just say how much i appreciate the people i'm getting messages from who have stumbled upon me Going Through It fighting for my life in this tumblr poll tournament and have no idea what's going on but are still being supportive about my cause anyway
it has been making me very smiley and very excited that my passion in fighting with blood, sweat, tears, and stylus are being appreciated and that my efforts in supporting the sexualizing of a traumatized cringefail morally questionable DILF have not been in vain

i've seen some people (mainly techno/quackity fans from the alliances) interested in getting into etho content after the polls, but it can be a little daunting when the guy's been making videos semi-consistently for over a decade, so here's your ✨ not definitive ✨ guide to Watching Ethoslab!
for starters: etho's videos can get a bit technical! he's a redstoner and is known for making lots of crazy stuff, like the original hopper clock design, a working tamagotchi, and a massive storage system that uses hexadecimal to sort and pull items.
if you're familiar with the life series, that's arguably where you'll get the most "character"/"lore" content from etho! he's been in all three seasons, starting with 3rd life. this is also where he shows off his pvp, and though it isn't as obvious in his own pov, you get to see everyone else being really intimidated and hyping up his mysterious guy persona... while he's busy crying over his stuff getting burnt.
however, if you want to start with some regular single player content, his lp series has been going for over a decade! if you're a big fan of older, nostalgic vids and can deal with him being a bit awkward, his season 1 is just over 100 episodes and imo is still very fun to watch today. if you're less into that, it can be intimidating to try and pick up a series with nearly 600 episodes, so you might want to start with his most recent world tour! it's a long one, but it summarises all the work he's done so far, and there's only 25 episodes after that which is a lot more manageable! (and then you can go back and watch the rest ^_^)
his current hermitcraft series is only 9 episodes long so it's pretty accessible, though he does start halfway through the season (and purposefully exiles himself across the world with no tools or help until he can beat a raid single-handed. because. jeez.) if you're looking for a more rounded experience though, his season 7 is where i personally started with etho content and is still one of his best series yet! he gets plenty involved with the overarching "story" of S7 too, so it's a great jump-off point if you're just interested in HC in general.
other iconic etho videos and series include
- king of the ladder, a fan favourite from his time on mindcrack (the series which, dare i say, made him the og mcytblr sexyman- seriously, look into nebtho and you'll see what i mean)
- team canada escape the nether, for a quick look into his dynamic with pause and beef, two other mindcrackers he collabs with a lot
- (and if you like that and want more, team canada's sky factory)
- lp episode 404. please watch lp episode 404.
overall, etho is a very chill guy to watch.. most of the time.. and i would highly recommend him to basically anyone who likes mcyt. he's your fave's fave, a pillar of the community, but also a guy just Doing His Thing, and even after a decade he's still finding new ways to improve and change his content... so even if i haven't convinced you to give him a try, hopefully i'll still have convinced you to give him a vote since he's about ~30 votes behind at the time of posting this ;)
thanks for reading, and happy watching! and of course, any other ethogirls are welcome to add their own recommendations in the notes!

Belated Blogiversary Celebration!
I've been meaning to do something for my one-year blogiversary for a while now (it was September 24th lol, I'm VERY late on this!), and it occurred to me that I could do some sort of raffle where people can IDK, either make a post to a tag about it or just directly submit themselves via a Google form or something.
As some of you might know, I'm a suuuuuper amateur bookbinder. Like, real new. But, the hobby seems to be going pretty well for me so far! The books I've made aren't completely perfect, but they're solid and look nice and function perfectly well as books (see here for a look at how I'm binding my fanfic lol).
I'm going to have a spare copy of terms of endearment soon, is why I'm asking. I've made two and am in the process of making a third. It's a lot of effort, but I enjoy the hobby and am having fun experimenting! I was wondering what I'd do with the third when I thought about being able to just.... give one away.
I would be footing the costs of this - no profits = completely free and clear, legally speaking. All anyone'd need to do is participate on whatever medium I end up deciding, if this ends up being something people are interested in.
So, yeah. Lemme know if this is worth considering! I'll probs have more polls to determine how people would prefer this run in the event I do actually have interest on this.

WIP Tag
Thanks for the tag @nodirectionhome-ao3! I almost feel unworthy as I really am not writing much now and feeling a lot of conflict about how to move forward in fandom, but it's still fun to have a chance to chat about what I am writing (even if it's slow).
List the titles your top five priorities for WIP updates (link your fics for new readers!)
An upcoming scene, event, or detail in each fic that you're looking forward to writing
Bonus: make a poll for your followers to vote on which top 5 WIP they are most excited to see an update on!
Then tag 10 writer friends
Titles
Maybe Tomorrow: The epilogue is all that's left! This is a hard story to categorize, but essentially Harry and Hermione are fixing up Potter Manor the first Christmas after the war, on Christmas Eve they wake up to find themselves seemingly in the future, or some possible alternate reality. Friends to lovers, time travel, domestic fluff and plenty of angst thrown in.
Untitled James and Lily. A one shot sitting in my drafts. Mischief and games, and a first kiss. Possibly going to connect it to At The Beginning.
Found. I've actually pulled this from Ao3 and it's become a personal project instead. It's a spin off from my Seasons Series. Second generation, original character, coming back from the dead and other fun stuff. Harry/Hermione.
Iris. Another project I'm unsure of. It's still online, but may take it down in future to also write for myself instead of an audience. It's the first long story I ever attempted, and was a tad ambitious with it. Harry and Hermione. Hidden child, post war, angsty as hell. And a mystery plot that is slowly driving me insane as I try to weave in the appropriate clues.
Don't really know at this point. @bettertoflee and I have lost steam on In Between which is supposed to be a steamy, fake dating, 8th year Harmony. Life is just hectic and neither of us are feeling overly motivated. I have several vague James and Lily ideas floating in my brain, as well as a few original short stories I'd like to experiment with...but lately writing has been a chore and my creative muse feels depleted!
As you can see the theme is that I have all these Harry and Hermione WIPS, yet no will to work on them, or at least continue posting (sigh). And I would like to write more James and Lily, yet keep freezing. So fun times all around!
Upcoming Scenes, Events, Details
So it's just the epilogue left. One detail is that so far it's only one scene and not very long, but still, I am so excited to finally wrap this up and reveal some stuff. It's probably the story that has meant the most to me on a personal level, and it feels so good to have finished something that I worked hard on and am proud of.
There is a kiss that I am very eager to write. Plus some group dynamics that I'm having fun experimenting with.
Now that I'm not writing this for an audience there has been some freedom with being able to let go of certain details and it feels great to just jump around and have fun with it. I'm working on a scene of a cute "first" date that makes me all fluttery ❤️ Also Ron will be making another appearance soon, and I do love writing him.
There are some cute scenes I'm excited to write, but they are a ways away and I don't want to say too much. I will say there is a kiss that I am also very excited to write in this one to! Let's just see if I ever get through all the "mystery" bits.
Well, if we could summon the energy/ability, there is a smut scene in In Between that I know I'm eager to write, or read, who knows which of us will make it happen 👀 I would also very much like it if my desire to write would come back as I keep getting snippets of Jily banter in my head that would be good to get down.
Not sure if anyone will be interested in reading any of this, but yes a glimpse at the chaos of my writing life (at least fandom wise).
Anyone who wants to participate, consider yourself tagged! But will also add a few that I am curious about! @glitterwitch1 @myst867 @annonymouslyblonde

A Day at the Fair with the Volturi Masters
Tumblr media
The third place winner for the Summer Fun with the Volturi Masters, story poll results.
A Day at the Fair with the Volturi Masters
When you were younger, you'd look forward to the State Fair every Summer. There were the rides, the games, and the unhealthy food. When you heard about a fair coming to the Pisa area, you asked Aro if you all could go so you could share your youthful experiences.
Aro asks you if it can be done in a day, and you assure him it will take less time than the baseball game since it's here in Italy. You try to make it sound like fun, but Aro's curiosity is what cinches the trip. You agree to drive while the masters enjoy the ride.
You thank all the masters for letting you get out to enjoy some fun. You wouldn't mind going out alone, but know they would never allow you to go so far without protection, and they like providing that. They're learning a lot from you about modern humans. Perhaps in time you wonder if they'll tire of these trips and allow Felix or Demetri to go with you instead.
Once you've parked the car, you get out and wait for the masters. Reaching the Midway, you feel the excitement of the music and smells and lights that is the fair. The Ferris Wheel looms in front of you. Why does it seem taller now than when you were child?
"Do you wish to ride that?" Aro asks. He has seen nothing like it.
"Yes, but don't make me ride with Caius. He'll rock the basket and then we'll fall. No biggie for him. He's impervious to damage, or so I assume. If I fall, I go splat."
Caius makes a face at you, laughing low as if everything you said were true. "Our little human is somewhat of a coward then," Caius remarked teasingly. It just made you want to punch him on the arm, but that would hurt you more than him.
"And Aro, you will be so curious about everything while going round and round, you'll ignore me for the most part. I think I want to ride with Marcus. He'll sit quietly and let me hold onto him."
"If you wish to ride with Marcus, that's fine with us, my dear," Aro says. "But I want to ride with you first." He stares at you, unblinking, his head slightly tilted, something you've learned means he won't take no for an answer.
You look to Marcus who nods at you, giving his consent to linger until you and Aro are done.
You both stand in line, waiting for the baskets to be emptied and reloaded with new riders. When your basket arrives and you are allowed onboard, you and Aro sit opposite one another.
Aro settles in place in the basket, giving you a side glance that you catch and turn to give the vampire a smile. "My dear, are you happy with us?"
Surprised at the question, you answer truthfully, "Yes, Aro, I am. You've been kind and generous to me since i stumbled into this place. I feel safe and protected here. I'm also enjoying sharing human experiences with you all. Is there a reason you're asking me such a question? Do you doubt my loyalty to you all?"
"Not at all. It's just that I've noticed you give Marcus a great deal of attention."
You wonder why Aro is so concerned to whom you give your 'attention'. "Is there a problem? He seems to like me, but if he came to you to ask you to talk to me..."
"You misunderstand, my dear. I like that you appreciate our Marcus. I wonder, how much do you care about him?"
You inhale, worried about where this line of questioning is going. Why would Aro be concerned? "I love you all, you know that. You're intelligent and very gracious when I ask questions. I've learned a lot from you. You're all attractive as hell and you're all..." You blush pink, making Aro grin. "...wonderful lovers. But when I'm with Marcus, he's like a warm blanket on a chilly day. Besides, you and Caius have your mates. Marcus has no one. I guess I feel protective of him."
"As he does you, my dear. I think you may have noticed." Aro looked around the fair when the basket stopped at the top.
You think about Aro's words. How do you feel about Marcus? You love him, but are you in love with him? You remembered his touches, his kisses, and how they set you on fire that day at the park. Now you wonder if you two were alone in his bedroom, with no one else around, what would it be like. Would it be all the sweeter, just the two of you. Oh god, now you're just giving Aro more to read.
"Dear one, you seem lost in thought. I didn't mean to distress you in any way."
"Aro, can we just let things go as they are, and if Marcus lets me know that he...wants more, then he and I can discuss that. Alone."
Aro smiles. "Of course. You are a treasure to us all in any case." He leans over and kisses your cheek, then holds your warm hand in his cold one. The ride begins again, and your stomach is left upstairs as the basket drops toward the ground before heading back up and around again. You laugh from the sensation, and Aro laughs with you.
When your turn is done, and the ride attendant lets you out of the basket, you both walk down the ramp to the waiting masters.
"I didn't know playing kissy-face was part of the ride, Aro," Caius says, one brow raised.
"Caius, where ever did you hear that term," you ask, astounded he knows any modern slang, as old as he is.
"I want to ride with you, so we can do that too," he demands.
You walk up to him and place your hands on his cool face. You lean in and kiss him deeply, your lips parted. When you step back, a sigh leaves your lips.
Taking this as a challenge, Caius grabs your hand and cuts the line to hop into the next basket. You give the attendant a look of apology and get in, sitting across from Caius.
You look back at Marcus and shrug, but he smiles, knowing Caius longer than you have. You point a finger at your ride partner, telling him he'd better not rock the basket, or he may end up with vomit on his shoes.
"That's not very romantic, dear one." He puts an arm around you and draws you closer, but just before he kisses you, Caius hears Aro down below ordering him to let you go.
"It's not like I'm holding her hostage, brother."
To you, it's strange to hear these two speaking with one another as if they were talking to themselves. She could barely hear Aro at all.
Caius pouts while you laugh. "I still love you," you tell him, drawing a smile from him.
When the ride is over, you want to take advantage of your companion's vampire strengths.
You walk down the lines of games, and eventually see a stuffed animal you want. It's a giant gorilla, dark brown, with soft and fluffy fur. "One of you has got to play this game. Your hand-eye coordination is perfect, and your strength would take down every one of those bottles."
"Is that the goal, to knock down all the bottles?" Aro asks.
"Yes! If you knock down a total of 10 bottles, I win...that," you say, pointing at the gorilla.
Caius scoffs. "You want that horrid thing!"
You protest because you love large stuffed animals. "It's not horrid. It's looks very comfy, and something nice to hug at night."
Caius smirks. saying, "If you want something to hug at night, I'll volunteer."
You glare at Caius in mock anger. "You're hard and cold, Caius. It's not the same as a soft, warm, animal-shaped...toy thing."
You look up at Marcus, who is staring at you, forcing you to look away. Your cheeks suddenly feel warm. When Caius and Aro walk toward the game booth, you whisper so low, you hope only Marcus will hear you. "There are other things I wouldn't mind hugging," is all you say, not even looking at him standing behind you. You start to head for the game booth to join the masters, feeling a cool hand lightly rest on the small of your back.
Caius knocks over the requisite number of bottles, winning easily. You point at the gorilla so the booth attendant can pick it off the top of the booth. He hands it to you, congratulating you and Caius. You give the blonde vampire a kiss, thanking him.
You all continue to wander the gaming area, until Aro stops in front of a booth.
"So, what is the goal of this game," Aro asks, examining another booth.
"See those balloons. You try to hit them with these darts. You get three tries. It's not impossible, but the darts need to be pointed just so to pop the balloons. The heads are probably dulled, so there again, strength helps.
"Too simple," Caius growls.
"Yeah, for you. With your hand-eye coordination, your aim can't miss."
Both Caius and Aro give it a try, winning you a beautiful blue vase and a purple velvet cushion you decide would look good on your bed.
Marcus prefers standing behind you, both hands on your shoulders. You can feel his cool breath on your head, giving you goosebumps.
You spy a booth selling food, and cry for joy, seeing ice creme. Pints of the cold treat in every flavour tempt you. "I'll be right back," you tell the masters. You pick out a pint of Cookies and Creme, grab a plastic spoon, and begin to eat the the ice creme. The masters watch you with curiosity. "Alright, maybe I'm prepping for the day I no longer get to eat real food. Sue me." You take a large scoop of the ice creme on your spoon, and eat most, but some is left so you use your tongue to lick off the remaining ice creme.
You look up at Caius, who is staring at you, his eyes darkening to crimson. "What?" you ask, your spoon held in mid-air. He takes a step closer to you, a grin on his flawless face. "Aro!" you call out.
"Brother!" Aro says, scolding the blonde vampire.
"I meant nothing," he tells you. "It's just that your tongue would be better suited licking something else."
You blush furiously, uncomfortable with the sexual innuendo Caius often teases you with. It's not that it offends you, but you never know when or if he's being serious. The masters are all beautiful men, and they often set your mind to daydreaming, but you prefer to be more of an assistant to them, not a sexual plaything.
"Yes, well, when you taste like Cookies and Creme..." You wink at him and turn back to the fair, looking for something else you want to enjoy.
Your little group wanders around when you come across an insignificant ride all fair midways seem to have, the Haunted House. You throw your empty ice creme pint in a trash container and turn to the masters, "Who wants to ride with me?"
"What is this, my dear?" Aro asks you.
"it's supposed to scare people, make them jump and scream."
"We can do that," Caius says proudly sneering. "Do you know how many humans I've made scream?"
You take his arm and walk with him. "I imagine it's been hundreds, thousands even. But this is fun screaming, not fear screaming. Do you understand the difference?"
"Hmm, doesn't seem fun screaming would be much fun for me."
Marcus is suddenly at your side. He gives the gorilla to Caius to hold while you're on the ride. "Let us go on this together while Aro teaches Caius the difference between scaring humans and killing them." Marcus takes your hand and heads to the ticket cage for the so-called Haunted House ride. He buys two tickets and leads you to the waiting car that rumbles along the old track, breaking through the double-door entrance and into the dark building.
Even though you know you're not afraid, you still hate being startled when people jump out at you. "Now Marcus, please remember if someone jumps out at us, they're just part of the show. Do not attack anyone."
You think you hear a low chortling coming from Marcus, and turn to look up at him. When his arm encircles you, you smile and nestle against him.
The car moves forward into the darkness, fake skeletons and stuffed monsters all around you. "You know, Marcus, since I've met you and the other Volturi, I find I'm not scared of monsters anymore."
"Is that so, child?"
"Yes, absolutely. I'm more frightened of a human with a gun than any of you."
"If you did not know us personally and met us on a dark night, would you be afraid then?" Marcs asked, curious.
"I'd be afraid...that you'd kill and not change me."
He let out a laugh and tightened his arm around you. You love to hear his laugh since it tells you Marcus is feeling free to enjoy life again. He has not yet told you it's because of you.
The car turns a corner and you find yourselves trying to fend off fake but entangling cobwebs. You laugh in a simple amused way, but wish you could just talk to Marcus uninterrupted by the ridiculous props eager to eat you. You hear screams in the distance and wonder if someone was actually being killed since this place is as far from scary as it could possibly be. But then with Marcus beside you, you have no need to be afraid of anything.
You gather your courage and ask the tall master, "Marcus, if you don't mind me asking, what are your feelings for me? I know how Aro feels about me, and Caius, well the less said about him, the better. I mean I love you all, even Caius. But..."
Before you can say another word, you feel Marcus' cold hand on your chin, turning your face toward him. He leans in to kiss you, his fingers on your cheek while his hand holds your chin. When he pulls back, his thumb brushes across your lips.
Marcus sits back, his arm resting on the outer side of the car, his other arm still around you.
You peer up at him in the darkness, and even though you can barely see his expression, you feel his is one of self-satisfaction. You smile and lean into his cool body, one hand resting on his thigh.
The car breaks through the exit doors and swings around the track to sit outside once more. Aro notices you and Marcus seated in the car, then watches his brother get up, holding his hand out to you. He smiles at the visible sparks between the two of you and nods to himself.
You feel suddenly very tired. The kiss from Marcus made you want more, but when the ride ended, it's as if you shut down and simply wanted to sleep.
"It is time to return home, brothers. Our little human seems to have faded, energy-wise, and needs her rest." Marcus holds onto to you, feeling picking you up in his arms would not look seemly in front of all these humans. When you all reach the car, Aro decides he will drive back to the castle. Marcus slides you into the back seat, and lets you fall against him, your hands snuggling under your chin while you attempt to nap. Caius passes the hairy gorilla back to Marcus, who sets it aside. He'd rather you be hugging him at the moment.
You nestle close to him, letting his sweet scent lull you to sleep.

Congratulations to Roguefort Cookie for winning the Nonbinary Swag Contest! It was a close call, one of the most intense battles in the whole contest! Even I couldn't predict who was going to win!
Tumblr media
Through the loud support of fans, they were able to just barely take the lead in the polls, and then win!
Now lets hear a few words from our contestants.
Tumblr media
ROUGEFORT: I'm so glad I could steal the hearts of 51% of our voters-
ROUGEFORT: I was surprised by the amount of fans I had, but I shouldn't have been- I do make quite the impression 💙
And Timekeeper Cookie, anything you'd like to say?
Tumblr media
TIMEKEEPER: I-
Tumblr media
ANANAS: So, how does it feel to get second place to someone so much less powerful than you AGAIN???
ANANAS: How pathetic of someone of your power!
Tumblr media
TIMEKEEPER: Oh I honestly don't really care. I could have just gone to a timeline where I did win if I did.
Tumblr media
ANANAS: What.
Tumblr media
ROUGEFORT: Looks like someone's still bitter about their second place trophy a few years ago.
Tumblr media
PITAYA: That's hilariousss.
PITAYA: Anyway, I got fourth place ssso I get to speak too. And hopefully watch Ananas throw a temper tantrum because that's always fun to watch.
Tumblr media
ANANAS: All of you are so ungrrrateful and undeserrrving of this title! I should have won it! I deserve it more! I shouldn't have been voted out first rrround!
Oh no- Timekeeper, can you-
Tumblr media
TIMEKEEPER: Already on it.
[Ananas is then teleported away to another place safely (hopefully)]
-----
And that has been the nonbinary swag competition finale! Thank you all so much for participating and following! I had a lot of fun making it, and look forward to our next competition!
I love talking about cookie run in general, so in the downtime between competitions, feel free to send me an ask about anything here, or on my cr sideblog @ananas-dragon !
This actually is the first time I've interacted with the fandom, and I'd say it's been a positive experience so far! Thanks!
See you guys in the next competition! I still need to find more contestants for it.

Quoting an anon ask on the bylerconfessions antisex discourse blog:
"Ok, so I decided to bring a point of view that from what I've seen hasn't been brought up yet. The fandom has a lot of adults and we already know that. Some of these adults experienced adolescence in very complicated times, similar to the 80s. Let's not forget that even today in 2024 we have cities where being LGBT is still a huge problem. It wasn't easy for us to live our adolescence in such an environment and I'm sure many of us didn't have a good experience. So, some look for NSFW content related to Byler and not because they are fantasizing about them, but rather to see a better experience than the one they had or even in a more positive way with a ship that they really like and support. I believe there is no problem with this and it does not mean that the person has sexual desires for teenagers, as some people on the tag have said. I myself was the same age as them when I lost my virginity."
Yes!! But, this anon went on to say this:
"However, and here comes my other point, this doesn't mean there isn't a limit to it. Discussing fetishes openly, who has the bigger member between the two or other worse things that I've seen lately is really unnecessary. I've seen people saying that it's normal to talk about sex and I agree, but it's not like the topic is about problematizing sexual relationships between gays or something like that, or representation in the media, but really unnecessary things like "who gives the better handjob?" there is a limit and people are crossing it and using a shitty excuse."
and i couldn't help but agree.
'it's fine to project through fiction, but please don't use that as an excuse to make polls on "who's toes curl more" '
i love the freedom of this blog, but some stuff sadly slides into weirdness. someone should make a freakybylerpolls blog for the gratuitous stuff, and leave the pondering about actual possible healthy sex for byler in s5 to this one.
I understand this as a concept, but I think it would be strange for the fandom safe space for "spicy/problematic" questions to also become filtered and policed. I think it's a slippery slope and a very thin line when it comes to determining what falls into the category of okay and reasonable and what falls into the category of "too far." Especially if one blog is serving as the border control. Everyone has different tastes, everyone has different standards, everyone has different lines, and everyone has different comfort levels. And that's all okay!
I've received asks that are all over the spectrum. Some, like the "Who has more internalized homophobia?" question, aren't even spicy, and some are... um... very far on the other end of the spectrum. On my pinned post I do ask people to use discretion when submitting polls, but as a poll blog, I stay completely neutral. I'm not a preacher, I'm a messenger. I don't endorse or unendorse any specific question.
This blog is for fun! The purpose is for our fandom to explore the potentially taboo without shame. I get that not everyone may be comfortable with every poll even if they support the blog overall, but that's honestly what the "see results" button is for. If someone doesn't want to engage with a specific question, they can scroll past it or press that button to opt-out. Or if they're not feeling the blog as a whole, they can block the tag or block the account. No hard feelings!
Anti-censorship and freedom for all!

Kink Advent Grand Finally
And that's a wrap? About a month ago I was surprised by @dommestic with a Tumblr post that resulted in a series of gifts and kinky adventures, which is probably the most thoughtful set of experiences I've ever had thrust upon me. (Thrust.) I got some new toys - some we've tried, some we have not - along with a trip to the local dungeon, a lot of time in bed, and a lot of time out of bed. We've still got a lot of things left to explore or try, and we started the new year off with a bang.
One of the gifts she gave me was a magnetic white board for the fridge, which she is currently using to track orgasms in the house. Initially it was split down the middle with two marks on her side, and one on mine, because that's how the bang went. To anyone who sees it, it's just marks - so I said "We should call it an Org Chart" and she wrote that on the bottom. The three marks were the result of me finding a hood on my pillow when I came back to the bedroom after getting some water, and her talking me down and up and down and probably sideways. I have been instructed if I have fun alone, it has to be added to the chart and I have to make things up to her.
We had more communication. We don't touch base to talk about kinky or sexy things every day - we did in December, because either she had a plan to implement, or because one of us had to say "hey maybe tomorrow" a couple of times near the end. We've been together for a fair amount of time and so far we've been kept very busy by other aspects of life, sometimes to the detriment of this sphere. Kink engagement feels a lot better, although I assume the realities of not-the-holidays are about to take over one or both of our days most weeks.
More stuff is on the way. I was measured for at least one item that's yet to come. She's working on a recording to go with the sleep mask with speakers on it. Other things were alluded to and for all I know, are hidden away or en route or are on a wishlist somewhere. (Send her recommendations?)
Learning is good. We're skimming the local dungeon to see what else is coming up to see as a class... but we're not scheduled for any cons. We do have a book to finish discussing, though.
The hood is weirdly comforting. I was not someone who brought in a proclivity for hoods - she wanted to try it - and I have to say I wonder what it might be like to sleep in one. Maybe it'd drive me nuts. Have you tried it? We used it during various sessions/scenes/etc. a lot.
Unfinished Business. I believe she had a poll and I remember talk of a footstool thing earlier but I was very much focused on other things at the time. I think. I'm a little fuzzy on most of the details of Monday morning.
I am not exactly sure how the scoring system on that Org Chart is going to go. If I did, though, I would point to it as some sort of foreshadowing. Will the interwebs throw things at me I can't ignore? Will I just hold out and not need to do anything to make marks? Will the weather be nice today? Did Echo pack her leftovers for lunch? Stay tuned!
I hope your year is off to a great start and I need to keep in better touch with the very few people on here I keep in touch with.

ROUND 1 / SIDE B / POLL 16
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tahri Nhupuju (@tahri-nhupuju) v. Amor Valentine (@lunadivino)
Tahri Nhupuju:
q. What is your WoL name and pronouns? a. Tahri Nhupuju, she/her
q. What is your WoL's species? a. Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te
q. What is your WoL's class? Or classes? a. Canonically all of them, but Warrior is her main one.
q. What data centre/server are you on, if you want people to find you? a. Phoenix, Light
q. Tell us a bit about your WoL! a. Born in the depths of the Black Shroud to a minor Keeper clan of little note, Tahri had little contact with the outside world aside from the odd hunter or trader, and a notable encounter with some shipwrecked Lominsan sailors. Thanks to them and their boatswain, when she came of age and realized that while her clan had a fair few skilled hunters they lacked warriors to protect them from Gridanian aggression, she set out to Limsa Lominsa to learn the art of the Marauder. The rest, as they say, is history. Backstory aside, Tahri considers herself a staunchly traditionalist Keeper, and as such she doesn't believe in "diurnal nonsense" like monogamy, patriarchy, or straight people. She's always been an absolute unit, and was a natural fit for the marauders' guild, especially once her Inner Beast awakened and she learned how to use her boundless passion and love for her friends and family to fight. Quick fun facts about Tahri: -She is 6'3".-She is technically bisexual, but has a typically Keeper view of men: good for if you want kids, sure, but otherwise not very interesting.-She Is Well Aware Of The Effect She Has On Women, and is usually quite cocky and suave with her romantic interests, with one notable exception… -Thancred and Urianger were the first Scions to notice Tahri and Y'shtola were catching feelings for each other during the ARR patches. They themselves figured this out in Shadowbringers, and only get together in 5.3. -She is extremely whipped for Y'shtola, and often volunteers as test subject for many of her magical experiments. -She struggled to "get" magic for the longest time, until Blue Magic provided her with the "shortcut" of using instinct and intuition for magic. -She is autistic, even if I don't know if Eorzea has a term for that. -Despite being far from a studious, scholarly woman Tahri has a special interest in history. -She can deadlift all the other Scions combined. This is not a hypothetical. Alcohol and a bet was involved.
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. Usually, I'm not the best when it comes to bragging, so I asked some of the others for their input: Tataru scoffed at the question, stating that -and I quote- "As a tall, autistic, extremely muscular, bisexual catgirl himbo" I was "extremely marketable to tumblr's large demographic of sapphics". I don't quite know what a "himbo" is, but I trust her judgement when it comes to market research. Alphinaud suggested that I recite the many titles, accolades, and honors I've gained from a lifetime of heroics, but that's just embarrassing, and I assume most other warriors of light would have a similar list of accomplishments. Shtola said that people would vote for me "if they know what is healthy for them" with that dangerous look in her eyes. Urianger said that there aren't that many prominent Keepers around, and certainly not many that still follow the old ways, so that would help me stand out. Thancred informed me what a himbo was. I now have mixed feelings about what Tataru said. Riol said that I should win because I look out for the little guy, and never forget about my bonds with minor characters like him and the other non-inner circle Scions, or the Crown Gemworks crew, or Vath Deftarm. I think that's enough testimonials, and I would like to thank my friends for saying so many nice things that I never would have thought of myself. I'd also like to say to the voters that I will do my best to keep Shtola from doing whatever she was planning to do if you don't vote for me.
q. Anything else you wanna add? a. Yeah. The above response wasn't just made for fun, I want to clarify that Tahri can't think of anything to brag about herself with because she genuinely has so much of her self-image tied up in the idea of herself as "the warrior of light" that she fails to see her own strengths at times, because that's just "the bare minimum" she has to be to be "The Warrior Of Light". Her self-sacrificial nature is something she struggles with a lot, as she tends to minimize her own wants and needs in favour of helping others and keeping others from worrying about her. Also if anyone wants to see more about her, I want publishes a couple of fics featuring her on Ao3, which are tagged with her name. Do make sure to read the tags to avoid spoilers though! And speaking of spoilers, her blog is not a spoiler-free zone, so be aware of that.
Amor Valentine:
q. What is your WoL name and pronouns? a. Amor Valentine (they/them)
q. What is your WoL's species? a. Au Ra (Xaela)
q. What is your WoL's class? Or classes? a. ARR: Lancer/Dragoon; HW-present: DRK main, MCH for yeehaw
q. What data centre/server are you on, if you want people to find you? a. N/A
q. Tell us a bit about your WoL! a. Amor is just a guy carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders despite it all. They care deeply for their friends and family, have a special interest in chocobos, and are full of love for the world they protect. Though a force to be reckoned with in the heat of battle, in day-to-day life they can be quite timid. A traumatic childhood event left them an orphan with no memory of their past, but they were found and raised by a Duskwight woman in Dravania, near Tailfeather. Amor was considered a strange child by most Tailfeather residents (#UndiagnosedAutism), but they ignored it as best they could while focusing their attention on the chocobos their mother would catch and train. On their 20th nameday, they left home to explore the world and hopefully learn about their past, and oops! Hydaelyn's chosen! They then proceed to become the Champion of Eorzea and save the world a bunch of times, with varying levels of enthusiasm. Though always willing to do whatever is needed to protect the realm, they are prone to becoming weary of it all. At best, they'll grin and bear it. At worst, they can become resentful and bitter towards their position in life (see: DRK). Thankfully, spending time with loved ones helps mitigate this negativity. They are taking a well earned rest after the events of Endwalker, but are prepared to dive back into the fray should the world need them. They are fond of foraging when they have the opportunity, and their special interest in chocobos lends itself well to breeding and competing at the Gold Saucer. Sometimes, they give in to the irresistible urge to run around open landscapes before rolling around on the ground.
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. Umm… a vote for me is a vote for the eorzean autism alliance :)

Hello! This is a question regarding complex childhood trauma and how it could lead to CDDs-
So, background info, I’ve been questioning whether or not I’m a system for a while. Other people have also basically gone ‘🤨’ at me and have told me that my experiences seem rather similar to OSDD. I may quote someone as saying ‘yeah that’s some OSDD shit’. Includinggg one Dxed DID system. Which is. Hm!
It’s gotten to where the woman doing my intake appointment for my college counseling sessions has suspected me of it. (Though I wouldn’t call them… the MOST ah, experienced institution for it considering a lot of their knowledge is from one 1-week seminar that was done last year)
One thing that I tend to get hung up on is what exactly my trauma was to cause this, or at least a level of dissociation to resemble a CDD at all.
Now, I know that it’s not the best idea to go digging for trauma, but I’m a very curious person at heart, and it’s less digging up memories and more ‘which already known memory or events could have caused this?’
One of my leading hypotheses is: literally just having untreated generalized anxiety disorder through my WHOLE childhood. It’s genetic so it was there biting my ass the whole time.
This does beg the question; CAN such a thing cause a CDD or CDD-presenting symptoms?
I’ve heard that it’s chronic trauma, or repeat chronic stressors that lead to the development of CDDs. A sort of constant fight or flight mode.
What’s fucky about GAD is that it can give ya that shit for free! No outside stressors needed!
Note that, like disorders do, my GAD is far greater in severity now than it was in my childhood, but my example still stands…
TLDR: could someone develop a CDD from untreated childhood generalized anxiety disorder while having a pretty good life otherwise, because generalized anxiety can mayhaps ‘substitute’ for a stressful environment in childhood with its own, shall I say, ‘home-grown’ stress? Could just having a genetic anxiety disorder throughout childhood lead to such stress as to cause dissociation to cope with it?
Are there any studies on this? If not, anybody wanna do a study? I think people should do studies more, they can be fun to do. But not tumblr poll studies, like, actual research paper studies. With annotated bibliographies and statistical significance and all that fancy stuff.
(Additional thing: I really feel people underestimate how Fucked GAD can be as a disorder. It can fuck up your cardiovascular system! It can give you HEART PROBLEMS just because heehoo adrenaline glands go brr! No major panic attacks needed, even! Just chronic stress alone!)
I’m going to first link you to my most recent ask so that I don’t have to repeat the same things over and over. https://www.tumblr.com/dissociativediscourse/715062976412073984/hello-i-made-a-post-reaching-out-to-the-plural
And then, I’m going to restate something: I can’t diagnose you. I don’t diagnose people, and neither should anyone else on Tumblr or IRL (that isn’t a licensed professional). The words of others that say you have Vibes really don’t matter that much in the big picture because whether they have it or not or have been through a one week seminar or not, they aren’t professionals and have not been trained to spot it and diagnose it and treat it, and that’s kind of the deal with that.
Secondly, I want you to know that I’m not trying to invalidate you or say that you’re wrong or anything like that… But there are a few things I have to point out.
One of those is that a huge part of DID is disorganized attachment/lack of a trustworthy caregiver/inability to receive comfort from trauma/lack of a safe place. As well, your brain can’t traumatize itself to the point of developing a CDD. This is an immutable fact, no matter what disorder is involved. GAD alone cannot and will not ever be able to cause DID, nor will any other disorder. The question isn’t “was this traumatic”. It is “Did this disrupt this child’s brain development repeatedly in a way that would result in a CDD?”.
GAD is stressful, but it would need a few extra steps from the outside to cause a CDD to form.
Now, I don’t know whether or not those happened. And if you don’t, you shouldn’t go digging at this point. You should honestly take the advice that I linked to in the last ask. Get help, and start working on symptom management. Because it doesn’t matter whether or not you have a dissociative disorder as much as it matters that you’re okay. If you need help, you deserve it. And you deserve help that works for you. The whole point of a diagnosis is to allow you get the right help and be as safe and happy as possible.
I don’t know anything about your childhood besides what you’ve told me, so that’s about as far as my advice goes. But if you do one thing, please, *please* read the post I linked, because that’s the best starting point I can offer.

The BioSurvey, a BioShock Series Survey
Hello, everyone! This is a fun little general survey I've thought about doing out of curiosity, to see what aspects of the series people liked the most across all three main titles so far and their respective DLCs.
This is the main post for the survey, and I'll be releasing the polls as separate polls to link back to here later, as well as link this post to each of them. Once the survey finishes, I'll be making some charts to show the final data, and maybe I'll make a few fun-jokey polls afterwards. If you have any suggestions for polls in the survey, send me an ask!

OCTOBER UPDATE 🎃
Hellow everyone 👻
Finally, October is here and the spooky season that belongs to it ! Simblreen is turning slowly but surely in spooky mode and I already love to see some great content on my dash. As usual, this is a little post about what's going to happen during this month on this page. You'll find more info about Another Side in the blog update part.
Feel free to read or ignore this but always take very good care of you ♥
Also, thanks a lot to all of you for being here and remember, you're not alone ... This season in particular 👀
Life update : A hell lot happened in a month. I usually love September but this one was probably one of the hardest month of my life. To be short, after 6 months of full implication and hard work, I got fired after a burn out at work. I'm also living with my ex for almost a year now and it has become harder and harder to feel good living together. To be honest, I spend my nights crying these days so I'm fully commited to my sims story this month in order to have some kind of escape. Anyway, I guess that's all, sorry for being that negative this month, I'll get better don't worry. Here comes the blog update anyway :) More fun inside this one.
Blog update : Another Side is starting tomorrow 🎃
I'm soooo happy to see the little hype around this story and I can tell you that it's the one I've been putting so more efforts into it for now. The chapters are a bit longer than usually, I'm really trying to create the best cinematic experience for you dear readers. I made a little poll this week to check your desire about this story and the posting around it. So far, those who voted mainly voted for half a chapter a day so I guess that's what I'll do, but I reserve myself the right to post the entire chapter if it's a short one (like 2 parts).
The intro is already here in 2 parts, Chapter 1 will be called "Yuki" and will be 4 parts long. Tomorrow, October 1st, I'll post 2 parts of this chapter, the first one dropping at midnight (Paris time) and the other one a little bit later during the day. I'll make a timezone reblog and you'll get part 3 and 4 Sunday. Not all chapters will include 4 parts so I can't already tell you how many chapters there will be nor how many parts they will include. For now, the only thing I can tell you is that I'm trying to write it like a serie and so far, ep 1 to 3 include 7 chapters each so ... This should give you an idea. It should also go through October and November I think. Maybe a bit more if the story is longer than planned.
About Simblreen, I'm super excited for the event but I'm still thinking whether or not participating fully this year. For now I still have to fix my topaz clean on Photoshop (everything is installed correctly but nothing appears on Photoshop anymore, it worked fine 2 days ago U_U) but if I have the time I'd love to share some presents ! So far, I'm thinking of some CAS spooky backgrounds and also a new set of horror posters. Expect at least some new posters (who said A24 HORROR ?!) and if I have the time (and energy), some CAS backgrounds then.
About DH, don't worry my loves, Destiny and all should be back for some edits around the end of the year but the story will be officially back in 2023 for a full DH year 😍 I've planned a lot, including a casting call so be prepared !
And I think that's all ! As usual, thank you so much for reading this and for being here. You all are a daily strenght you don't even know 😊
Take very good care of you, enjoy a looooot this spooky season as much as I do (only for the medias part, otherwise, please October be nicer than September who was hell !) and always remember that you're not alone ♥

Behind the Scenes: March 2023 Newsletter
(newsletter in question)
If you're wondering what the actual process to get that output was, the answer is: harrowing. I likely spent a lot more time working with the prompt than I would have if I had just written the thing myself-- but it was fun!
(I recommend opening this post in two tabs so you can compare output to my comments on it. This is also your invitation to ask yourself how much of the newsletter was my input and how much of it was interpretation. Which of those phrases do you think I naturally write? Which of them do you think I wrote?)
If you've never used ChatGPT before, I do recommend you test it out. The tl;dr on process is that you enter a prompt and it generates a convincing output using the patterns it has learned from its training data.
The ultimate prompt that worked for me (with numerous re-generations):
Hi ChatGPT! I need you to write a Patreon post for me based on my last few posts. It is a monthly newsletter telling people what I'm doing. Please write a newsletter post, organized into THE WRITING (a section about the writing I've done that month) and THE LIFE (how my life has been going), with the following information:
I had a lot of trouble scheduling time to work on Something's Not Right's 5th anniversary rerelease, but it's coming along. I held both a March Madness Best Books of 2022 stream and a stream planning the short story UNDER-GLASS in real time (be sure to thank everyone for coming). Both streams are now available on YouTube. I'll be streaming in April with OHHOW for Camp NaNo during the 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM slot on Saturday, April 8th. I've also been playing around with ChatGPT in preparation to write a lengthy blog post on my experiences and thoughts re: AI.
I visited my friend and fellow author Max Franciscovich @goose-books, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the Midwest cold and partaking in all kinds of Ides-appropriate activities.
At the end of the post, reveal that the entire post has been written by ChatGPT. Do not mention it at any other point, especially the beginning. Also thank everyone for continuing to support me.
Write the post strictly adhering to the style and authorial voice of the following two posts:
FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
Happy happy February, everyone! Boy, does it feel strange to have a new year.
THE WRITING
We are on SNR2 LOCKDOWN! I am still editing up new stories to enter the 5th anniversary re-release of Something’s Not Right.
At the same time, I’ve been running occasional streams, mostly thanks to OHHOW’s theming; a giant thank you to them for having the Monthly Themes for everyone to use. February’s theme was, naturally, Romance, hence our Romance Studies stream, where we learned from excerpts of many great titles how to write a good kissing, intimate, and/or sex scene. You can now find the stream on YouTube, where I hope to post more recordings! (Plus: the snippet I shared from KAY is up here.)
Be sure to turn up to March’s themed stream, Planning to Pantsing—where we’ll be planning an entire short story live on air—and our bonus funtimes March Madness stream, where I’ll be pitting all my favorite reads of 2022 against each other. (The Reading Roundup is still coming, whenever day jobs and SNR2 and so on allow).
On the smaller side, we held a little poll for Tumblr’s favorite genre of books, with expected results. And, on top of all of the above, Hourly Comic Day!
...so the lockdown isn’t quite as secure as we thought. Thanks for keeping me company while I do the quiet, often solitary work of editing and shining-up.
THE LIFE
I have been working on my work/writing/life balance. This is one sentence, but it is all the nooks and crannies of my life right now. It’s been going well so far! As always, direct all thoughts to me here or on Tumblr.
DECEMBER NEWSLETTER:
Hello, dear Patrons, and my best wishes for a beautiful opening of a brand sparkling new year! Thank you so much for your patience as I have wrapped up a wonderfully busy month. <- After writing these words, I was hit by a wayward ship at the dock, and as a result this is a full month late. Apologies! It was a VERY busy month.
THE WRITING
I spent December first primarily on Long Line, my debut erotica on yvesdotafterdark, and then on gathering all my bookish things up from around the year. I have not finished them, mostly because January has been focused on getting SNR...2! into the works (ICYMI: I’m trying to put out a 5th anniversary edition of Something’s Not Right; it takes a lot of work). The Scar and Tragic Accident have also been unlocked for free reading!
Otherwise, I really didn’t write very much this month. I decided to take a kind of pseudo-break from the literal act of writing and editing and so on to focus on my end-of-year things, and I did enjoy it—though I think breaks are perhaps more relaxful when they’re actual breaks and not just Break From One Thing To Do Another.
THE LIFE
I never did clean my room. I am now cleaning my room, in fits and starts, around everything else. This is part of a larger desperation for more time, not only for writing but also for my friends and my chores and my errands, and it signals to me that I am burning out a little bit. Look out for Patreon changes!
I also sincerely appreciate everyone being here and cheering me on specifically during this month. December 2022 was undoubtedly one of my busiest months ever—and I created and sold a limited edition print run of Exhaustively earlier this year!—and I’m so grateful for all the people who boosted my posts and chatted to me in the yvescord and hyped me up when I thought I would never finish a review. You made everything so much easier, and you continue to make it worth it.
Wrapping up with some maintenance notes: the giveaway is over, and (Oscar Isaac voice) somehow, Max @goose-books won. He will almost certainly not be taking duplicates of everything, and I’m sure everyone I gift a copy of a zine or book will be very grateful for his donation. The good news is that I was going to be visiting him anyway, so I believe I have saved on some shipping, I say, holding several-hundred-dollar plane tickets.
JANUARY NEWSLETTER
Happy end-of-January! Don’t tell me that it is, because I need to pretend it’s still two days after 2022 in order to finish all my 2022 wrap ups guilt-free. To that end, I have been writing “/22” on every form with a date. They’ll never take me alive!
THE WRITING
I fell off quite a bit this month, needing to focus on various other things in my life. The good news is that, apparently, for me falling off means releasing a new short story, so hopefully you didn’t notice. I’ve also been working very hard on putting together February’s Romance Writing Stream (on writing kissing & intimate scenes), so I hope you’ll come! And, of course, SNR2 work continues. Thanks for coming to the announcement stream!
(And I finally posted an Avner/Eliza deleted scenes roundup from recent Forest Castles editing work. Scraplets continue to be posted as I discover them in my drafts!)
THE LIFE
What a storm that was! Fortunately, I am completely fine, quickly changing some travel plans and conveniently having family everywhere in the state to host me when necessary. Wishing much love to Californians worse affected, and to anyone else dealing with rough winters this side of the climate terror. I do say it every month, but thank you again to Patrons helping me sail these seas... and THANK YOU FOR 3 YEARS ON PATREON!! To many many many more!
Arguably I could have done better if I hadn't greeted it, but I still can't ask ChatGPT for things without providing a greeting first.
Various iterations on the prompt I deemed good enough to copy-paste into another document in case I gave up on getting anything better:
Hello everyone,
It's March and time for my monthly update!
THE WRITING:
It's been a challenge finding time to work on the Something's Not Right 5th anniversary re-release, but progress is being made. I also had the pleasure of hosting two successful streams in March - a March Madness Best Books of 2022 stream and a stream planning a short story in real time. A big thank you to everyone who attended! In April, I'll be streaming with OHHOW for Camp NaNo during the 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM slot on Saturday, April 8th. Additionally, I've been exploring my experiences and thoughts about AI in preparation to write a blog post.
THE LIFE:
I recently had the opportunity to visit my friend and fellow author Max Franciscovich (@goose-books), and we had a great time partaking in various Ides-appropriate activities and enjoying the Midwest cold. Balancing my work, writing, and life has been a priority, and I'm happy to say that my Patreon remodel is going well.
And there you have it - my monthly update. Oh, and by the way, this entire post was written by ChatGPT. Thank you all for continuing to support me!
(It doesn't really sound like me-- an issue that continued despite the addition of two more Patreon posts as samples to the prompt text-- but the main dealbreaker was calling the streams 'successful.' I wouldn't say they weren't, but it felt a little stuck-up. That reveal also strikes me as too... catty, almost. Am I catty?!)
Happy March, everyone! Can you believe it's already the third month of the year? Time seems to fly by so fast.
THE WRITING
I have to admit, scheduling time to work on Something's Not Right's 5th anniversary re-release has been quite a challenge this month. However, I'm happy to report that it's coming along nicely. I've been in touch with tRaum Books, working on promotional materials, and editing up new stories to include in the re-release.
In addition to my editing work, I've also been busy with a couple of streams this month. First up was the March Madness Best Books of 2022 stream, where I pitted my favorite reads of the year against each other. I'd like to thank everyone who tuned in for that. I also held a stream planning a short story in real-time, which was a lot of fun. If you missed either of these streams, you can catch them on my YouTube channel.
Looking ahead, I'll be streaming in April with OHHOW for Camp NaNo. You can catch me from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM on Saturday, April 8th. I'm excited to participate in this event and can't wait to see what we'll come up with.
Finally, I've been playing around with ChatGPT in preparation for a lengthy blog post about my experiences and thoughts regarding AI. Stay tuned for more details on that.
THE LIFE
In the midst of all this writing and editing, I did manage to take a break and visit my friend and fellow author Max Franciscovich (@goose-books). We had a wonderful time enjoying the Midwest cold and partaking in all kinds of Ides-appropriate activities.
In general, I've been working hard to balance my work, writing, and personal life this month. It's been a bit of a challenge, but I think I'm making progress. As always, I appreciate all the support and encouragement from my readers and fans. Thank you for being there for me.
And now, the big reveal: this entire post was written by ChatGPT! Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time.
(Not 100% happy with this reveal, either, but in this case the dealbreaker was the word-for-word copy/pasting of text from previous newsletters-- the line including "editing up" is clearly identical.)
Greetings and salutations, lovely Patrons! Another month, another update.
THE WRITING
I must admit, scheduling time to work on the 5th anniversary rerelease of Something's Not Right has been quite the challenge. However, progress is being made, and I'm excited to share it with you all soon. In March, I held two streams that were an absolute blast. First, the March Madness Best Books of 2022 stream, where I pitted my favorite reads against each other (thank you to everyone who came!). Then, we planned a short story in real-time, which was so much fun. If you missed either of these streams, don't worry - I plan on posting recordings on YouTube soon.
Mark your calendars, because on Saturday, April 8th, I'll be joining OHHOW for Camp NaNo during the 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM slot. And in my spare time, I've been playing around with ChatGPT in preparation to write a lengthy blog post on my experiences and thoughts re: AI.
THE LIFE
I recently had the pleasure of visiting my friend and fellow author Max Franciscovich (@goose-books). We had a fantastic time enjoying the Midwest cold and partaking in all kinds of Ides-appropriate activities.
In addition to writing, I've been focusing on my work/writing/life balance, and I'm happy to report that it's going well so far. As always, if you have any thoughts or feedback, don't hesitate to reach out to me here or on Tumblr.
And that's a wrap on this month's newsletter. Surprise! This entire post has been written by ChatGPT. Thank you all for continuing to support our lovely author, and we'll see you again next month.
(Hooray for the unique and yet utterly dottian phrasing of the opener! The parenthetical in the March Madness stream comment is a dream! But the recordings were planned to already be up once the Patreon post went out, and the "mark your calendars" transition is nonexistent. Good transition on the next line, though! Unfortunate that it stole the work/writing/life bit from an example and then seems to ask people for their feedback on that [since the post it snatched from asks for feedback on the reorganization of Patreon in order to form a better work/writing/life balance]. Also, who is this lovely author...)
Dear Patrons,
Welcome to another edition of my monthly newsletter! As always, thank you for your continued support. This month, I've been up to a lot of things, so let's get right into it.
THE WRITING:
It's been a bit of a struggle to find time to work on the fifth-anniversary re-release of "Something's Not Right," but progress is being made! In addition to that, I held two streams: a March Madness Best Books of 2022 stream and a stream planning the short story "UNDER-GLASS" in real-time. Both streams are available on YouTube, so a big thank you to everyone who came and made them so much fun to do!
In April, I'll be streaming again with OHHOW for Camp NaNo during the 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM slot on Saturday, April 8th. I've also been playing around with ChatGPT in preparation to write a lengthy blog post on my experiences and thoughts regarding AI.
THE LIFE:
I had the pleasure of visiting my friend and fellow author Max Franciscovich (@goose-books), and we had a wonderful time enjoying the Midwest cold and partaking in all kinds of Ides-appropriate activities. It was so good to get away and spend some time with someone I care about.
And that's it for this month! Thank you again for your support, and remember, this entire post has been written by ChatGPT. If you have any thoughts or comments, feel free to reach out to me on here or Tumblr. I'll see you all next month!
(That... is not how a reveal works. Poor ChatGPT.)
And, of course, the final functioning prompt, which included no reveal. I found myself preferring to say it myself, because at that point I was having enough trouble getting ChatGPT not to open in the third person (e.g. "ChatGPT here with another update from your favorite author") to not warrant any further nonsense.
I absolutely did not go about this wisely. I used ChatGPT as a playground, not as a Serious Buziness Investmump, and as a result I 100% forewent research into prompts that would have done objectively better. I'm also, in case anyone was worried, not planning on using ChatGPT to write more Patreon posts-- as you can see, it's really only functional as a gimmick.
The idea I had here was that I often spend too much time writing Patreon newsletters than I need to; nobody is going to freak out if I use one turn of phrase versus another, and it doesn't have to be a two-hours-combined affair. The vast majority of these outputs were usable with only light editing for voice; the only reason things took so long with this method was that I refused to edit them for the sake of the gag. (And, admittedly, my awful prompt.)
What I like about the ChatGPT Patreon idea is that it gets me out of my head. It says, "look, when this draft isn't written by you, suddenly it seems a lot more functional, doesn't it?"
If you're interested in more of my thoughts on AI and how it ought to be used, please subscribe to my Patreon! I'll be dropping a pretty lengthy blog post on AI there for the Little Ones before it hits Tumblr-- not to mention the actual behind the scenes posts you get on, well, pretty much everything I do. And, in the meanwhile, any curious questions can be sent to my inbox or Discord.

Finally tackling the big bad was rewarding as hell, and funnily enough I think I had an easier time with him than I did his archangels prior.
Seriously the walk up drained my resources so quickly each time, then the fights against the Grail were miles easier to manage lol
Heck, I was swapping party members due to how quickly I'd drain SP in the fights prior to him! lol
Anyways, to begin with his first phase was "fine".
It utilized that mechanic I love where you send a party member off to do a task while you keep fighting- but the Grail's strategy just wasn't that impactful.
Just AOE holy damage every turn, and sometimes he'd even give me a break and just hit one person instead.
A breeze; But not meant to be the main star obviously.

Because the true form of God was a LOT more interesting and fun to fight!
It's not a JRPG if you aren't fighting a category 10 God figure that's larger than life in the end, now is it?
His strategy was honestly pretty simple but it was fun to counter, at least for a single encounter.
He spawns a new arm regularly and each arm will equip a weapon capable of new attacks and debuffs. You only need to destroy the body, but the arms are where all the damage is coming from and letting 4 arms go wild is a bad idea unless you can seriously handle the DPS race you'd put on yourself.
I can't really say "Add control" is the most interesting mechanic on its own, but I can always say when it's done well it's pretty damn good and here- thanks to the high damage output he had going and all the different debuffs (most of which were entirely unique to this fight as far as I can tell, like doubling our SP cost) I was having to play a lot smarter than I have in quite a few palaces.
I was having to utilize my own buffs, debuffs, and items (and item buffs!) to keep myself on top and out of any risky scenarios- just like in the early game! And it was really fun!

Was definitely loving having a much more reliable full heal and buffer than my party's had up to this point in Joker.
Up til now I had been using some sprinkled skills amongst Ann and Makoto, with Haru obviously having the better options but rarely seeing time on the field.
This persona is one I made right before the final encounter and it really lightened the load.

Oh, and Morgana said the best line in the game that made me tear up (among a million other things) :)

And here's where I'd love to post a ton of our confidants praising us, Mishima being THE BEST and starting the cheers for us, my joy exploding as the phansite poll maxed out (HOW'D THEY MAKE SOMETHING SO CHEESY SO EMOTIONAL.) but I can't due to a hard crash that corrupted my video footage.
But all that happened; I got emotional, it was very very good.
And it was followed by something that blew my fucking mind and made me stifle a shout because HELL YEAH EVERY GAME SHOULD END LIKE THAT WHEN THE-
Tumblr media
(From the wiki) YOU KNOW?
WHEN THE FUCKING GIANT PERSONA CAME OUT, WE ALL CLAIMED A DEVIL IS NECESSARY TO PUNISH A WICKED GOD, AND WE FUCKING SHOT HIM THROUGH THE HEAD???
YEAH I WASN'T REMOTELY OKAY. I WAS LOSING MY SHIT. THAT'S THE BEST.
Okay. Okay okay okay okay okay.
I'm sure due to how disjointed my process became I'm missing some things I'd like to talk on but instead I just want to talk on the rebirth of the world a bit.
Morgana being a dredge constructed from human hope is just fucking touchin' as a concept, man.
His brave call that hope is another form of desire and that it's a good one and all that jazz, fuckin' got me.
And his farewell speech talking about some truths about the world- well- to be fair to my experience- started incredibly strong and closed a bit like the writing was trying too hard for something I'm literally already on board for lol.
I've talked on the concept of our individual perceptions and truths being undeniably different than others before- usually because another game touches the concept (however well it does this) but also because I do genuinely find it interesting.
No one else will ever experience the world the way you do, and persona 5's narrative taking that for some of its own thesis was genuinely a good idea and I like what they told through that.
Morgana's talk about how that infinite amount of interpretations helps give the world infinite potential is a fun angle on the concept; One I genuinely appreciate as the core idea of the world and its truths forever being tied to perception and being a very personal thing is, on its own, a rather neutral concept.
The fact that we can both meet the same person and I can hate them for a bad thing they did to me and you can be oblivious to this and love them for the good things they do to you- this makes it so we both behold worlds with two different people who bare the same name and by itself that's not a positive or negative thing- it's just an observation on how, I don't know, non-hive mind lives work.
Rather, blunt, interpretation of the concept but it's an example.
But attaching the idea of an individual's desires such as their hope to see things better to their vision of the world and then saying that since we all see things differently this grants us infinite potential for change, that's a way to take a neutral idea and offer a positive outlook to it- I just dig it.
The "Okay, you're getting cheesy" bit was honestly still good, he already had my emotional investment, I'm just razzing on Morgana for ending with "As long as you hold hands together, see the world as one, the world will never end~ The World Exists Within All Of You!" it's cheesy.
It's a grand sentiment on combining our hopes, building trust in one another, and this cooperation being the core to enacting change in the world- but it's also silly because it's partially literal (the world almost ended so he had to specify that it'll go on forever if we hold the lessons of this journey in our hearts) and because everything before it was SUPER STRONG and then Morgana got a little sweet and spacey in what he was saying.
I razz because I love <3
Beyond that, P5 talks a lot about the good in desires, how humanity forever holds the potential and power to change the world no matter how much inertia previous systems build up, about the importance of building up and standing by your sense of justice or morality, just a lot of pretty damn good themes in my opinion.
So I don't know what to say beyond, this boss was fun, the final bit of the fight was so hype I held back a scream, and the rebirth of the world being used as a point to bring together a lot of previous lessons and combine them in some ways really did leave me happy, and hopeful.
Just. Really good stuff, man.
And I think that about wraps up the content I missed due to the computer crash.
Morgana has vanished, the world has been remade, and our team fought back the urge to cry to instead cheer this one out.
Honestly, Ryuji fucking rules for his part in this scene.
Refusing to let us treat a victory like a funeral.
