pocket knives are actually very good at lying in your hand when you close your fingers around it. they have a good feel to them, like stones. and they have ridges. while u trace these ridges u can imagine all the little, smart, brilliant things that are tucked away in that pocket knife‘s little body. my elementary school teacher used to tell us how hands too have everything tucked away in them that one would need. u can form your fingers the way u need them, to shape pincers or a hammer or to grasp something off the ground. they also lie very good in another hand. maybe i shouldn‘t hand my hypothetical girlfriend a pocket knife but my own hand instead. the stick that needs to be sharpened can wait
