A/N: Been a while since I posted so anything, so let me start it off in a niche. Feel free to request if you like it!

"Morning, Carla! Dr Cox."

Perry Cox nodded and send a small grin to the woman who had greeted him, before closing his eyes in frustration and letting his head hang low. He didnt like those very confusing feelings he had caught for (y/n) in the slightest.

"Ha-ha, someone has a cru-ush", he heard Carla sing, obviously trying to mock him.

"Oh, please", he replied straightening his back again and crossing his arms. "You can’t possibly think that. First of all, she’s a resident and the simple fact that she hasn't killed anyone... yet! Has given her a bit more, well, I don’t want to call it respect, so let me call it... I might want to kill her a little less than certain other residents." In the background he heard the clatter of fallen down equipment and didnt even bother to turn around, knowing that it would just be another resident, stealing him his last nerve. "Point proven", he said through gritted teeth.

"Whatever", Carla simply replied, still giving him a suspicious, smiling look.

He clenched his jaw. He knew she didn’t believe him and of course he couldn’t just let it go. "Even if", he tried to save the last bit of his pride as Carla seemed not to believe a word he said. "What would someone like her want from a forty-something year old guy, other than maybe already keep an eye out for nursing homes, cause I'm not sure of many things, but I am sure that I am old enough to be in one of them soon, but yet unfortunately not old enough for a bunch of young girls just waiting to marry a rich old guy who will hopefully die very soon, so despite the fact that you are clearly joining me there too, soon", that had earned him a deadly gaze from Carla, but he ignored it simply rambling on, "cause I can only assume your eyesight and maybe also your mind has weakened if you assume I had a crush on her or that she could be in any slightest way ever interested in me."

Carla remained unimpressed and simply raised an eyebrow. "You done?"

He wet his lips and nodded. "Yeah pretty much." "Well, the only thing I know", Carla started leaning in towards him to lower her voice slightly, "is that everytime I see you two, she is sneaking you glances and every time (y/n) turns around, you are checking her out, if you want to admit it or not."

"Oh come on, that's simply not true!"

"Carla?", he suddenly heard (y/n)'s voice behind him. Immediately he turned around towards her, also a little bit worried that she might have heard bits of their conversation. But she was simply picking up a badge from the ground and although he knew he was just proving Carla's point and that he really shouldn't be one to stare, he couldn't avert his gaze from her. She got back up, holding up a nurse’s badge. He was still looking at her, taking in her (e/c) eyes and (h/c) hair, his eyes following her as she approached as if he might not get the chance to look at her this intently ever again.

"Is that your badge?", she asked, and he saw Carla smile at her out of the corner of his eyes.

"Yes, thank you, (y/n)! Wow, I really have absolutely no idea how that ended up on the ground". And with a slight smile she attached her badge back to her shirt, while (y/n) smiled at him one last time, making him grin back like an idiot, before she turned around and left to take care of her patients.

"Ha-ha, I knew it." That sing-songey voice again.

"Good play", Dr Cox admitted simply, his grin fading into a snarl, but as usual, Carla wasnt even the slightest bit scared of him and just turned around, going back to work and leaving him standing there to think about what just had happened.

Jan's Year in Writing

Time for some stats!

Words written: 75944 (made my goal of 75k \o/)

Words posted: 12462 (2021 really was the year of unfinished stories, alas)

Stories Posted

Putting Down Roots (2877 words), Original Work, F/F About an Eco-Architect falling in love with a Dryad. (I had to release my love for Houseplants somewhere.)

Date, Interrupted (4851 words), Shadowhunters (TV), Alec/Magnus, After five years of marriage, Alec and Magnus still try to make time to go out together. Work and life tend to get in the way, but this evening, they'll let nothing ruin the romance. (Or, the one where they fight a Kraken in Central Park and are romantic about it)

Crisis For Two (4734 words), Station 19, Emmett/Travis, Emmett starts a new job at Crisis One and has a slight case of anxiety about it. Lucky for him, Travis has a three-step plan to help him relax.

Some thoughts: all of these were written for exchanges (Chocolate Box, Id Pro Quo, and Yuletide respectively), I also signed up for omegaverse exchange, but had to default because of a work emergency at the worst time possible. Clearly, in these hard writing years of not finishing things, exchanges and deadlines are what makes me power through and actually write an ending.

Also, I just really like to make people happy and give them gifts, so, fic exchanges are the best.

But what else did I write if I have so many words and so little to show for it?

There's also a bunch of fandom adjacent writing here I'm not going to break down, so many prompts and fic ideas and random small things. Anyway, Sambucky got to me big, I wrote in some kind of fever for a little bit, got so much inspiration from FFA and talking about them (my prompt list is still humongous, hot damn), and then I kind of just, stopped. This has pretty much been my fandom experience for the last two years, nothing seems to stick for a structural amount of time. It's why I'm happy I managed to write something for Shadowhunters. It's not the same as when they were my main fandom, but there is something to be said about the comfort of writing for an old love. As always, I'm kind of hoping I'll manage to at least finish some of these, but idk, the brains have been fickle.

If you look at how my writing is spread out of the year, it's easy to see that I basically only wrote in 6 months, and the summer and fall kind of fucked with me in a combo of too warm, too much family and too much work crisises. I started NaNoWriMo but my computer broke, but it's always good for forcing me away from work after the yearly oktober madness, and focus back on things that actually make me happy. I think I would have made it if I hadn't fallen without a computer, and of all the things I wrote last year and didn't finish, the NaNo story is the one I want to finish most. It's Sex Pollen and Grief and lots of Eddie having anxiety, what's not to like?

How was 2021 compared to other years? Why, yes, I do have a graph for that.

ANo year is ever going to beat the year I was unemployed and doing RP and I wrote 75k in three months. I wrote a little more than last year, but posted and finished less. Nothing compares to the hight of the Shadowhunters year, when I wrote with love and fire and no care in the world. What I've come to realize is that writing is both something that makes me happy and fulfilled, but also something that I can only do when I'm beyond a certain threshold of okay. I can't write to make me feel better when I'm really stressed or in a bad brain space due to depression. So like, if I look at this graph, it's also a rough look at how I'm doing.

There has never been a good October ever, hot damn.

Anyway, mostly I wanted to show off my pretty graphs, because spreadsheets, my beloveds.

Some final thoughts: A couple of things do help me to keep writing when life gets in the way, and those are: fic exchanges. I'm signing up for Chocolate Box again, will definitely treat for Yuletide and probably sign up, and will see what else catches my fancy. Honestly, they're fun and good for keeping you writing and expanding your horizons, can recommend them.

Of all the writing things I ever did, I think I love this one the most, even more than NaNo

So all in all, I think I'm happy with 2021 as far as writing went. It was a sucky year overall, but fuck it, I wrote!

The whole time — as he's threatening to break Erwin's legs to keep him at home; as their horses trot next to each other; as he's knelt in front of him; and then as he's slicing his way towards the Beast Titan — it's like he's being choked from the inside out. It's like a constant state of his heartstrings reaching up and pulling his throat tighter, tighter, and tighter, until there's this phantom pain and emptiness all at once, in the deepest parts of his body.

He holds his blade at the Beast Titan's throat, and he can feel that somewhere, Erwin is dying.

He's known all along that Erwin would die eventually. It's not until he finally looks down at his commander, bleeding and broken and sickly pale, that it truly sinks in.

His hands shake as he fills the syringe with titan spinal fluid. There's a crashing roar in his head that's screaming at him to save him, bring him back, bring him back to me, as he pushes Erwin's sleeve up.

Finally, he's embraced by a sudden silence as Erwin slaps his hands away. In Levi’s mind, it's almost like Erwin’s final command, in a way.

He spent his whole adulthood chasing this notion of some sort of truth. In order to lead the life he feels he stole from his father, whose death he holds himself accountable for. If Levi revives him and they find the truth behind the titans in that basement, then what’ll be next? Will Erwin still feel like he has something to fight for? After all, he’s been fighting more for himself than anything else all this time.

He doesn’t let himself think about it too much as he injects the serum into Armin’s arm. Just focuses on the crunch of charcoaled skin and getting the hell out of the way before he gets eaten himself.

Everything afterwards is a blur. Not even the screeching of the titan and Bertholdt's screaming pleas as those jaws close over his head can snap him out of his stupor.

The feeling that comes after Erwin's last breath slips away is strange. It's the coldest he's ever felt, but also strangely hot and feverish. He feels downright ill.

In humanity’s biggest victory yet, he just feels like he’s lost everything.

Levi has never been as sure of anything in his life as he is of Erwin Smith. Their irrevocable bond has been a weight on his soul for six years now, and it’s a weight he’s more than willing to carry. Ever since Farlan and Isabel died, Erwin has been his sole reason for living – for fighting.

So now that he's gone, what's he supposed to do?

Keep on fighting, Levi. For me, for my father, for humanity. Be a better man than I am, and do what I could never do.

Erwin’s bolo tie feels heavy against his chest underneath his uniform; like the cruel and hopeless world he lives in is slamming against him and putting strain on every single bone in his body. It's a reminder, though. A reminder that Erwin will always be close by. In his memories, in his heart, in the crushing weight of humanity that he now bears on his shoulders. He’ll be there to lighten the load.

He gently kisses the shiny green jewel as he gets dressed in the morning. A simple promise that they’ll meet again soon, once this horrible nightmare is finally over.

Drugs that are being used to halt puberty in gender-confused youth have been linked to thousands of adult deaths, government data show.

The Food & Drug Administration has recorded thousands of deaths associated with Lupron, a puberty-blocking drug that is routinely used to treat prostate cancer in men and endometriosis in women. Adverse complications related to its use include breast disorders, malignant neoplasms, and psychiatric and nervous disorders.

Lupron — and other drugs in its class — significantly alters the hormone levels in the body and has been documented to contribute to blood clots and other cardiovascular complications, as well as brittle bones and faulty joints.

Between 2012 and June 30 of this year, the FDA documented over 40,764 adverse reactions suffered by patients who took Leuprolide Acetate (Lupron), which is used as a hormone blocker. More than 25,500 reactions logged from 2014-2019 were considered "serious," including 6,370 deaths.

Lupron is being prescribed off-label for use in children who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria despite the lack of formal FDA approval for that purpose. The drug is clinically approved for treatment of precocious puberty, a condition where children start their pubertal processes at an abnormally early age and the blocker is administered for a short time until the proper age.

"The first well-documented case report of a puberty blocker like Lupron (a similar medication called Triptorelin which has an identical mechanism of action) being used in a young patient with gender confusion was published out of Holland in 1998 where a pediatric endocrinologist, working together with a psychiatrist, decided to use the medication on a 13-year-old girl suffering from gender dysphoria," Michael Laidlaw, a Rocklin, California-based endocrinologist, told The Christian Post in a previous interview.

Reports have emerged in recent years showing that the pediatric version of the drug comes with few warnings about long-term side effects and leads to lasting and severe health problems.

When injected into a physically healthy body, the drug interrupts a normally-functioning endocrine system, yielding hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, according to Laidlaw.

“It’s a serious condition that endocrinologists would normally diagnose and treat because it interferes with development, but in [gender dysphoria] cases they’re inducing this disease state,” he said in an interview with the National Catholic Register.

In 2017, the FDA said it was "conducting a specific review of nervous system and psychiatric events in association with the use of GnRH agonists, [a class of drugs] including Lupron, in pediatric patients,” in response to questions from Kaiser Health News and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting. The government agency was also reportedly reviewing seizures that stemmed from use of Lupron's pediatric version and other drugs in its class.

Transgender activists often promote such drugs as a "pause button" on life, giving young people additional time to decide whether to proceed to cross-sex hormones and surgical transition.

The therapeutic idea behind the use of Lupron for treatment of prostate cancer is that by inhibiting the flow of testosterone over the prostate and reducing it to a low, undetectable level, prostate cancer tissue is prevented from growing, Laidlaw told CP in a previous interview about the drug's dangers.

Unlike prostate cancer, a disease where the drug at least serves the purpose of targeting the malignant masses on the organ, Laidlaw said he knows of no psychological condition that is treated by putting hormones out of alignment from their normal levels.

"Gender dysphoria is not an endocrine condition, but is a psychological one and should, therefore, be treated with proper psychological care. But it becomes an endocrine condition once you start using puberty blockers and giving cross-sex hormones to kids," Laidlaw stressed at the time.

According to the annual report of AbbVie, the company that produces Lupron, sales of the drug were approximately $669 million in 2017 in the United States alone.

England's lone gender clinic, the Tavistock Centre in London, has come under scrutiny in recent months in part because of intensifying public concern about puberty blockers.

Kirsty Entwistle, who until last October was a staff psychologist at the Gender Identity Development Service in Leeds, accused Tavistock clinicians in July of misleading young patients, saying they were “making decisions that will have a major impact on children and young people’s bodies and lives ... without a robust evidence base" and said the facility had troubling internal practices.

Children and their families were being told that puberty-suppressing drugs used to transition youth were "fully reversible," when in fact the drugs' long-term effects remain unknown, she said, noting that an "unspoken rule" existed within the clinic — that clinicians were never to inform families that their children were not transgender.

So I’m officially at home with a lot of free time on my hands and I haven’t really been on tumblr a lot lately but I ended up on my archive page here just looking through old posts (sidenote: did anyone know that tumblr lets you sort through your archive based on tags cause I didn’t until today and it is very handy, can definitely end up with you going down a tumblr wormhole for an hour or two ) and I mean although I’m still on here a fair amount, I realized that compared to the last few years it’s nothing.

AND because I now have far too much free time, I went through, counting how many posts I had during March of each year and it was SO many more a few years ago:

March 2019: 94 posts

March 2018: 357 posts: So many orphan black, twin peaks and the americans posts, it makes me miss all of them 😭😭😭. I also just had a lot more to say on here in 2018 it seems

March 2017: 669 posts: So much of the west wing, I think it was my first watch of it (I can’t beLIEVE that was already 3 years ago, like what is time?!) A lot of msr, actually now that I think about it txf has been pretty consistent on this blog, on and off sometimes but still. Also more than a few jtv posts during this time....still upset about it, still hate to see it btw!!!

And that’s it!!! The archive only goes until April 2016, which doesn’t seem to mach up with the dates I had in my mind, I think I had another blog initially? And then I moved to this one or I changed the name I don’t even remember anymore. But I know I started this blog shortly after starting the x files which was in January 2016

Anyway, parts of these past few years, I was also extremely depressed sooo that’s not great but in the beginning that’s what brought me into txf and then i stuck around beacuse I loved it and the fandom, and I made friends and it was a very good distraction for me during those times so I’m always grateful for that, I miss you tumblr and my tumblr peeps!!

Dream Trip: Lately I’ve been feeling really horny for Italy, but idk what that’s about. This summer I’m going to Prague, which I’m really excited for! I do however also really want to go to Iceland or the Faroese Islands and I would also like to spend an extended period (read: not just a few days) in Sweden or Norway or Finland (why are literally all the Nordic countries cooler than Denmark). I’d love to go to Greenland some time, but it’s not at the top of my list. I’m also thinking India would be a cool country to visit, as well as Cuba. There are so many places I want to go, idk what to fucking tell you. Top of my list is Prague currently, because I’ve been wanting to go back there the past 5? 6? years and it’s finally happening!

Favourite food: Oh that’s a hard one, I love food. My go to foods if I want something that resembles a dish and is easy are fried or scrambled eggs or grilled cheese.

Instruments: I play the violin (technically, I haven’t played much the past few years), as well as some piano, a bit of ukulele and a tiny bit of guitar. Once upon a time I managed to get decent at recorder (which is an awful instrument thank you very much), but I’ve forgotten most of it.

Languages: My native language is Danish and I speak English fluently. I’m decent at reading and writing Spanish, but not so much speaking and listening. I’m trying pretty hard to learn German but it’s weird because I kind of already understand a lot of German due to it being close to Danish, but I struggle to string together sentences. And then there’s obviously the mutual intelligibility privilege that comes with Swedish and Norwegian.

Favourite song/s: That’s a tie between Origin Of Love and Les Baisers Perdus, both by MIKA.

Random fact: I only learned to roll my r’s a year and a half into learning Spanish.

From Hull council estate to Wimbledon: Paul Jubb lost his parents… now he’s making his grandma proud

If Friday's Wimbledon draw pits him against Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic the journey from Hull council estate to the Center Court will most likely be complete for Paul Jubb.

The 19-year-old himself is, however, more interested in being handed a first-round opponent he can realistically beat next week.

'I would like someone who I have more chance of winning against. "Just going to compete really hard like I always do and enjoy the experience," he said on Thursday.

Whoever he plays, on whichever court, he expects his 77-year-old grandmother Valerie to be watching, with her heart rightly swollen with pride.

She brought Jubb up from the age of four after the death of both his parents. His father, a former soldier, committed suicide after suffering from post-traumatic stress and his mother also died young.

He has their names, Sean and Jacinta, tattooed on his ribcage, but understandably it is not a subject he chooses to engage in.

'My parents are not with me any more and I think that is basically where I draw my line. It's known and that's really, "he said on Thursday, sitting across the way from the Center Court, on which he has yet to set foot.

He is more expansive about the rest of his journey, some of which has become more known since last month, when he won America's prestigious NCAA college championships representing the University of South Carolina.

When he steps out at SW19 he wants to win as an act of gratitude to all those who have helped him.

'A big thing for me is just making the people who have helped me along the way proud. A lot of the reasons why I push myself so hard for myself but a big reason for those people who have invested time into me. "

Most of Jubb's peer group back in Hull grew up playing football or rugby league, but he was destined to be different.

'When I was younger I played more football than tennis. I was pretty good. "I think there was a bit of interest from Hull City to go and have trials but I never ended up going because I didn't want to stop tennis," said Jubb, who is actually a Liverpool fan.

A big inspiration, it turns out, is world No. 39 Frances Tiafoe. His parents moved from war-torn Sierra Leone to Maryland in the US, where his father became the janitor at a tennis club.

"About 14 or 15 I was watching a load of stuff or him on YouTube," said Jubb. "His background was pretty tough. He child or had a similar thing. I remember having a cheesy conversation with Jonny Carmichael, my coach in Hull, saying if this guy can do it I can do it as well. So from that point on I was fully invested in doing whatever I could progress.

"You could see how much he (Tiafoe) loved the game and how hungry he was to make the pro tour. That was the same hunger I have now – it was just very relatable. That's why it was so inspirational for me. I've hit with him and we're actually friends now, it's been really good to make a connection with him.

'I did have an internship when I was younger when I did get a little self-pitying. Jonny Carmichael was always like, "" This is your situation and you can't change it, so if you are not going to get anywhere else. Jubb's debut Wimbledon appearance guarantees him a minimum of £ 45,000 in first- round prize money, and an added complication has been working out how much he could take due to strict NCAA rules on amateur status.

The still intends to complete his degree in retail management next year and so must abide by them , but can still use much of it for allay travel expenses for his tennis.

I reeeeeally hate doing this cuz I NEVER ask anyone for help but I'm in a tight situation. Okay so I applied for this job and was on a probation period and didn't know I wasn't gonna get paid. I just saw their email and now I'm annoyed. It's been 2 weeks and since I thought they were gonna pay me, I mapped out certain bills. So here I am, I'm up at 3 am applying for jobs cuz now I'm desperate. And I'm extra pissed cuz in a few days my phone bill is due and I was counting on that money to pay it. I hate asking for help but I need $55 so I can pay it on time with no late fees. Feb 15 is the last day I can pay it before they start tacking on extra costs. A key obligation of an insurance claims person is to establish, through a thorough investigation with the assistance of the insured and the records of the insurance company, that coverage exists for a loss once it is reported to the insurer. Often, insurers are faced with insureds who fail to report losses promptly. Some fail to report until after an adverse verdict at trial. Courts differ on the proper method of dealing with late reports of loss and claims depending on the policy wording and the law of the jurisdiction.

The insured, who reports a claim late, will always claim that the insurer was not prejudiced by the delay and, as a result, they did not breach the notice condition of the policy.

The Notice-Prejudice Rule

Many courts across the country have struggled for years with the issue of insureds who fail to promptly report a loss. Over those years, a doctrine of insurance law has developed, known as the “notice-prejudice rule.” The United States Supreme Court stated it as follows:

California’s notice-prejudice rule requires an insurer to prove that the insured’s late notice of a claim has substantially prejudiced its ability to investigate and negotiate payment for the insured’s claim. A finding of substantial prejudice will generally excuse the insurer from its contractual obligations under the insurance policy, unless the insurer had actual or constructive knowledge of the claim. [Shell Oil Co. v. Winterthur Swiss Ins. Co. (1993) 12 Cal.App.4th 715, 760-763, 15 Cal.Rptr.2d 815; Pitzer Coll. v. Indian Harbor Ins. Co., 8 Cal.5th 93, 447 P.3d 669, 251 Cal.Rptr.3d 701 (Cal. 2019)] The rule is applied universally to third party policies—except “claims made” policies [see detail below].

Many jurisdictions, including South Carolina, judicially adopted a notice-prejudice rule, whereby the insurer had the burden to show that it was substantially prejudiced by the failure of its insured to comply with the notice and cooperation provisions. [Vermont Mut. Ins. Co. v. Singleton By & Through Singleton, 316 S.C. 5, 12, 446 S.E.2d 417, 421 (1994)] Where the rights of innocent parties are jeopardized by a failure of the insured to comply with the notice requirements of an insurance policy, the insurer must show substantial prejudice to the insurer’s rights before it refuses to defend or indemnify the insured.

When the Notice Prejudice Rule Doesn’t Apply

The notice-prejudice rule does not apply to a date-certain notice requirement in a claims-made insurance policy. In a claims-made policy, the date-certain notice requirement defines the scope of coverage. Thus, to excuse late notice in violation of such a requirement would rewrite a fundamental term of the insurance contract.

Applying the notice-prejudice rule to the date-certain notice requirement in a claims-made policy would alter the parties’ agreed allocation of risk. In short, to excuse late notice in violation of such a requirement would alter a basic term of the insurance contract. Furthermore, it would prevent parties from defining coverage with certainty, no matter how definitive or express the notice requirement. Such a result would significantly diminish the advantages of claims-made policies for both insurers and insureds: insurers could no longer “close the books” on previous policy periods, and policy premiums presumably would rise to account for the risk that an insured might notify the insurer of a claim after the policy period has expired. Even if insurers could somehow compensate for the additional risk, extending the notice-prejudice rule to the date-certain notice requirement of claims-made policies likely would decrease the availability of this type of insurance product in Colorado. In light of our state’s policy favoring freedom to contract, this is something we decline to do.

A New FICO Formula

Consumers creditworthiness is summarized using credit scores. There are only a few financial firms that offer credit score formulas for companies to use. The most commonly used credit score is the FICO score which is a product of the Fair Issac Company. The company recently announced that it will be using a new formula that will change the way it calculates credit scores. The new formula could potentially hurt consumers who fall behind in their credit card or loan payments. However, it could benefit those who pay off their debts quickly. It could take months or possibly even years, for most lenders to adopt the new credit formula. The FICO formula has been altered twice since 2009, but many lenders still use the prior 2009 formula. Most are expected to upgrade to this new version, FICO 10 Suite. Lenders often delay using a new FICO formula because of the costs of upgrading from an old formula to a new one. The new formula is expected to be adopted by many lenders in the next year or so.

Changes In The New Formula

Under the new FICO formula, consolidation of outstanding credit card balances with a personal loan or a balance transfer is treated differently. If they consumer continues to accumulate additional credit card debt after consolidation, then they will see a larger negative impact on their credit score than under the previous version. The formula will also evaluate credit card usage trends over a 24-month period rather than utilizing a monthly snapshot. Coronavirus: Delhi has reported 93 new COVID-19 cases over a 24-hour period, the government said today

New Delhi:

Ninety-three new cases of infection by the novel coronavirus were detected in Delhi over the past 24 hours, as per government data released Wednesday night, taking the total number of cases in the national capital to 669. On Tuesday 51 new cases and two deaths were reported.

The total figure includes nine deaths, 20 patients discharged after receiving treatment and one who has “migrated” to Singapore.

Of the total number of positive cases 214 have a history of foreign travel (or were in contact with someone who travelled) and 426, including the 93 reported yesterday, have been linked to a religious gathering held by Islamic sect Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi last month.

“93 new COVID-19 cases were reported today in the national capital taking the state tally to 669; the death toll stands at nine. All the 93 new COVID-19 positive cases reported today are linked with Nizamuddin Markaz event,” Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain was quoted by news agency ANI..

Only Maharashtra (1,135 cases, 72 deaths) and Tamil Nadu (738 cases and eight deaths) have reported more COVID-19 cases than Delhi.

Across India over 5,700 confirmed cases have been reported, including 166 deaths. Of this figure more than 1,440 cases are linked to the Jamaat.

As of Monday novel coronavirus cases have been reported from 284 districts across 28 states and union territories; the count was 211 districts three days prior.

On Wednesday Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said 20 coronavirus hotspots had been identified across the city – including the famous Sadar Bazar.

Other areas identified as hotspots include parts of Mayur Vihar and Patparganj in east Delhi, Dilshad Gardens in the northeast and Malviya Nagar in the south. The Markaz Masjid, where the Jamaat gathering was held, and the Nizamuddin Basti neighbourhood, where the 100-year-old complex is located, are on the list.

The government has assured door delivery of essential items to all residents in these areas.

The Delhi government has also made face masks compulsory for all people who step out of their homes to buy groceries, vegetables or medicines or for exercise. Similar orders have been issued in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Odisha and Nagaland.

These decisions were taken at an emergency meeting at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence yesterday, which was attended by Health Minister Satyendra Jain and Mr Sisodia.

Apart from Delhi, hotspots across 15 districts in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh have also been sealed; these will remain sealed till April 15 at least, the state Chief Secretary said.

Earlier this week the Union Health Ministry released details of an aggressive containment plan for large-scale outbreaks, including creating buffer zones and sealing affected areas for up to a month.

Sealed areas will only be re-opened, the 20-page report said, if no new cases are reported for at least four weeks after the last confirmed test.

India remains under a “total lockdown” imposed on March 24 and scheduled to end April 14. However, this is likely to be extended, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested yesterday in a video meeting with leaders of all parties.

Amid warnings that the rapid spread of the highly infectious COVID-19 virus could peak in the coming weeks, state leaders had earlier called on the centre to extend the lockdown.

Earlier a staggered release of the 1.3 crore people under lockdown had been suggested.

Worldwide nearly 15 lakh people have been infected and nearly 90,000 have been killed by the COVID-19 virus, which originated in China’s Wuhan district in December last year.
