I COULD BE YOUR CRUSH — WRIOTHESLEY
⋆。˚ ❀ summary: you gush about your crush to neuvillette over some tea, and your crush unexpectedly joins the tea party and overhears you talking about him. ⋆。˚ ❀ contents: fluff, fem!reader (use of princess as a petname), sassy neuvi, mentions of ayato ⋆。˚ ❀ wc: 1.2k+ ⋆。˚ ❀ a/n: alexa play crush by tessa violet,, LOL i was thinking so hard about the song title then i was like okay yeah these lyrics work ;-; titles are so hard.. anywayyy PLS ENJOY SOME WRIO FLUFF FOR THE SOUL !!
“You just don’t understand, Neuvillette,” you sighed dramatically, stabbing your fork into the delicate cake in front of you. “He’s totally swoon-worthy.”
Neuvillette took a sip of his tea before carefully placing the cup back on its saucer. For a while, he continued to stay silent, as if considering his words.
Once he finally opened his mouth, the only question that came out was a calm, “How so?”
It didn’t take long for a million reasons to pop into your head.
“Well…have you seen his arms?” you gushed. “Is that not enough of a reason in itself?”
Neuvillette scoffed, a smile of amusement playing on his lips.
“That’s not all, of course,” you clarified, grabbing a throw pillow from the sofa next to you and hugging it close to your chest. “He’s also caring and kind and treats everyone with respect, no matter who they are.”
Neuvillette’s gaze flickered briefly to the door behind you, but you paid it no mind.
“Not to mention how he looks when he gets all serious. Neuvillette, have you ever seen him talk about a prisoner he had to punish? It’s so…” You hid your face behind the pillow, cheeks flaming at the thought.
Before you had a chance to collect yourself, you heard someone clear their throat behind you. You immediately stilled in your seat, slowly bringing the pillow back down to your lap.
“Sorry I’m late. Who are we talking about?”
Neuvillette smiled, ignoring your frantic look directed right at him. “Wriothesley, welcome. You are not too late. Please, take a seat.”
Wriothesley slipped onto the sofa, taking a seat next to you. Neuvillette poured him a cup of tea that he graciously accepted. Looking over at you, Wriothesley brought the drink up to his face and asked, “Care to tell me who you were speaking of before I arrived? It sounded like you were singing their praises.”
You fiddled with the the hem of your silk pajamas— Neuvillette failed to inform you beforehand that a certain someone would be joining the tea party, so you appeared in your regular sleep clothes. You racked your brain trying to come up with a response.
“Oh, you know… Kamisato Ayato,” you managed, vaguely remembering how you saw his name and face on the cover of The Steambird recently. “The head of the Kamisato clan is such a…dashing and strong leader. I think.”
“I didn’t realize you were close to Kamisato,” commented Wriothesley, sitting with one leg loosely draped over the other as he leaned back against the sofa.
“Oh,” you shook your head, “no. No, I’ve never even met him.”
Wriothesley raised a singular eyebrow in question. “Your words earlier seemed so strong for something directed at a man you have never met.”
You shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant even though your heart threatened to beat our of your chest. “You know how enamored a crush can make someone.”
“I do,” Wriothesley agreed, his gaze locked onto yours so intensely that you almost had to blink.
“I’m sure you do,” remarked Neuvillette, still sipping his tea.
You and Wriothesley both looked over at him.
Neuvillette blinked. “Did you forget I was here? This is my office, is it not?” When no one responded, he sighed. “Well, I finished the last of my tea and I have some work to wrap up. Feel free to stay as long as you need.”
Neuvillette made his way back to his desk and Wriothesley refocused his attention towards you.
“So. Kamisato Ayato,” he brought the clan leader up once more.
You choked out a laugh of exasperation. “Are we still on this? Just let me have my silly little crush on someone across the world who doesn’t even know I exist.”
Tapping his fingers against the teacup, Wriothesley huffed. You realized he looked almost annoyed and frustrated.
Just as you were about to ask him what was wrong, Wriothesley opened his mouth and said, “Would it be overbearing of me to say I wish you had said a different name when I asked who you were gushing over?”
A strange mixture of curiosity and hope filled your chest.
Curiosity as to who he thought you were talking about. Hope that maybe he thought it might’ve been him.
“You could never be overbearing,” you assured, grabbing a small biscuit from the table and softening it up in your warm tea. “Would it be nosy of me to ask who you wished I was gushing over?”
Wriothesley grinned. “You are certainly nosy. But it’s one of the things I like about you.”
You laughed, wiping a crumb off your lip with a napkin. “Does that mean you won’t tell me?”
“Perhaps another day.”
In the distance, you heard Neuvillette clear his throat loudly. You looked over and saw him glaring straight at Wriothesley. They stayed like that for a while, having a silent conversation with their eyes. Whatever it was, it seemed intense. You were quite glad that glare wasn’t directed at you.
“I believe Wriothesley would like to share that information with you now,” Neuvillette announced after Wriothesley looked away with a sigh.
“Does he?”
“I do,” Wriothesley confirmed, the slightest bit begrudgingly. “Me.”
You waited for him to say more, but he didn’t elaborate.
You blinked. “What about you?”
“Are you going to make me say it?” Wriothesley let out a strangled laugh, grabbing a biscuit to munch on himself. “When I overheard you and Neuvillette talking about your crush, I was hoping it was about me.”
You blinked. “Why about you?”
Neuvillette made a strange noise as a book fell off his desk. He cleared his throat. “Pardon me.”
You barely had time to wonder if he was okay before Wriothesley finally responded.
“You really don’t make things easy for me, isn’t that right, princess?” Wriothesley said with a helpless smile. “I hoped you were saying such sweet things about me, since I would say equally sweet things about you.”
With your stomach turning at both the pet name and his admission, you managed to say, “And if I were to tell you it really was about you?”
“That would make me a very happy man,” he said, unable to contain his delight. “Who wouldn’t be happy to hear the most beautiful and caring person they know is interested in them as well?”
You heard Neuvillette tap his foot impatiently in the background, but you ignored him. You and Wriothesley were having a moment here.
“So, you’re saying you like me, too?” you asked, not wanting there to be any chance of a misunderstanding. The two of you made it this far, you couldn’t let it fall apart now.
“I like you very much,” said Wriothesley with a nod. “And I have something to take care of at the Fortress this week, but when we both have time next week, perhaps we can celebrate with a dinner. Without Neuvillette there.”
“Please, without me there,” Neuvillette chimed in, his arms folded as he sat in his chair.
You laughed, standing up and brushing the imaginary dust off your pajamas. “All right, I can take a hint, Neuvillette. I’ll help you clean up before I go. And Wriothesley…”
“Hmm?”
You met his gaze and the corners of his eyes crinkled. You fought off a giggle as you returned Wriothesley’s smile, an overwhelming feeling of happiness filling you. “It’s a date.”

Genshin did it again...
So apparently, Neuvi getting stabbed was just a headline for a FAKE news story in some third rate tabloid (Charlotte's words lol)
Well, this isn't the first time hoyo did this so idk why we were actually expecting Neuvi to get stabbed.
*sighs in relief* but also :-/

Anyway, these are my takes and guesses for 5.6:
-Neuvilette is not dead. Yes, he got stabbed and all, BUT it will only temporarily put him out of action. Probably Albedo could have had something to do with his stabbing, directly or indirectly (and this thing could lead him to the trial, unless it is a way to compromise the trial, being neuvi the supreme Iudex.) In any case, he will be healed by someone (probably Ifa since it is also mentioned in the trailer.)
-The evidence that would prove that Albedo is guilty could probably be a frame left on purpose by Fakebedo or someone who wants to accuse him. Unless they could be experiments that Albedo left unfinished (probably trying to obtain a perfect human body to use to bring his brother Durin back to life.) Without context those remains could also be evidence of a murder, when Albedo is simply trying to play with human nature, creating a body that can house his brother's soul.
-The scene where we see the monsters heading towards Mond probably means something completely different. Maybe the monsters apparition could be indirectly Albedo's fault, but in the scenes we see in the trailer, he would actually be trying to defend the city.
-Dainsfleif will make an appearance. Seems kinda off that he didn't show up in the trailer, but we still have to keep in mind that a trailer is something extremely reductive, being promotional material. It has been confirmed that this will be an archon quest, presumably the one found at the end of each chapter in which Dain appears. In that case, it would make sense. When Albedo was first released, in one of the trailers Dain's voice appeared as a narrator, saying that if Albedo ever used his forbidden knowledge for sinister purposes and accidentally - or not - endangered someone, he could not help but intervene. So I assume that is the case. It makes sense that all of this happens in the usual archon quest found between one chapter and another (like the end of Natlan and the beginning of Nord Krai.) These are usually quests with a lot of story material.
-I don't think Albedo killed Fakebedo. Fakebedo will probably appear and play a significant role (I'm not entirely sure if he's fully involved in the crimes Albedo is accused of, although there could be a good chance he is.) However, in the last event we see Albedo as the protagonist; when the traveler asks him how he feels about killing his clone, we notice that Albedo is clearly not happy about it. He only did it because he had to, to protect his friends. But despite his nonchalant and stoic attitude while stabbing the whopperflower, if Albedo had to choose, he would rather not have to kill anyone. I think Fakebedo will continue to be a troublemaker, but Albedo will never get so far as to kill him. I think he would prefer to find a compromise to allow them to live in harmony, BUT Fakebedo hates him so much that it is more likely that if Albedo were to actually kill him, then it would be self-defense because of an attack by his clone. However, I doubt that this is the case. Fakebedo might have tried to frame Albedo (although this could also be to his disadvantage, we know that Fakebedo presumably is also a shapeshifter.)
-we'll probably finally get a lot more lore on Rhinedottir too.
- I honestly doubt that Albedo has voluntarily committed those murders. Probably, there is some misunderstanding, or it was plotted to make it seem like he committed said crimes. Trailers are only a small piece of what could actually be the final product, so what we have seen so far could be misleading.
But why do I doubt that Albedo did not voluntarily commit those murders?
Although he is indeed a very mysterious and enigmatic character, in the past events and fragments of the story in which we have seen him, we had the opportunity to realize that, despite his attitude of self-isolate and extremely suspicious, in reality, he genuinely tries to connect with others in his own way. But he is so caught up in his "mission" in search of the truth of the world and his work as an alchemist (+ plus having to deal with Klee in the spurious time) that socializing has never been his top priority yet. Therefore, it is natural to think that he has always been reclusive for most of his life; even in the early years of his existence, Albedo probably never had much contact with other people besides his master and mother. Thus, in adulthood, Albedo keeps preferring what he was actually created for. But gradually in his own small ways, we see that he is opening up to the idea of getting in touch with the people close to him, without reclusing himself in his world.
Furthermore, right from the beginning, Albedo is introduced as a gentleman, polite, and with a lot of consideration for others. During the Stormterror crisis he helped the knights of Favonius several times in keeping the city and all its inhabitants safe (and someone might say, "Well, it's his job as a knight, it's normal that he helped out") so here's some more evidence: in shadows amidst a snowstorm, Albedo throws himself off the cliff without thinking twice to save Bennett, it's such a quick moment that you don't even notice it, but this still outlines the fact that Albedo's first instinct is always to help others and ensure the safety of his friends, as he repeats to the traveler every time they show up to visit him in Dragonspine.
Also, I strongly doubt that a person who finds pleasure in drawing strangers, immortalizing them just to hand them the finished work only to make them smile, could even go so far as to commit murders. Those all seem like such trivial proof, but in reality, they are signs of the fact that Albedo is a person with a soft heart who tries to show others in his own small way that he is worth it.
He probably has other intentions in mind. Albedo would be trying to use his powers to get to something bigger (probably, his meeting with the witches is not even a coincidence, and it is something that he tried to obtain directly since Alice is the most direct way for him to get to his mother.) Albedo could have discovered something and would like to be able to confront Rhinedottir for this, presumably, these discoveries could also lead him to corruption (which would make even more sense if we consider that Albedo could be working to find a new body for Durin, and as we all know his blood is highly corrosive for every Teyvat inhabitant. Albedo, by spending most of his time in Dragonspine, is perfectly aware of the risks he runs. Therefore, his corruption could be linked to this reason, and eventually, Durin could be linked to these presumed "murders".)
Another important thing not to underestimate is that Albedo is very close to Klee. Being her guardian he would never do anything that could compromise in any way his image in front of the person he presumably cares about the most, after his mother. Albedo certainly would not stain his hands with blood, knowing that his little sister could suffer because of it. It seems strange to me that in a matter like this Klee does not make an appearance, but I certainly think she would.

Info!!
• This blog follows a particular AU revolving around Fire Spirit and Wind Archer! It’s an evolving plot line based around Beast Yeast, Shadow Milk is also important to this story!
• The AU is called ‘The Moth Returns to the Salt’, (It doesn’t make any sense to the story dw 😞) and I don’t know how to explain the story but it should be under the tags of #crk the moth returns to the salt au or #stabbing the last of it’s wings.

• He doesn’t exactly need to breath, does so to not confuse other cookies
• He has fluctuating energy levels with some hard tasks taking from hours to seconds to finish.
• His form isn’t fully physical, due to the cracking of his souljam he isn’t always able to sustain object permanence
Appearance??
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Hello. I hope you're okay with me dumping every ounce of my adoration for you The Games of Divinity series here, because I simply cannot stay silent any longer. I read the whole thing yesterday in the span of fifty three minutes at one a.m. with my eyes barely open and a blanket up to my chin so it was truly one of those Authentic Fic Experiences TM. I'm obsessed. I'm enraptured. I'm in love.
Your character analyses of Neuvillette and Furina? Chef's kiss. I am throwing them into a glass jar and shaking vigorously to watch them bounce off the walls. I am chewing on them like a four year old with unlimited access to a bag of Starburst and every flavour in their mouth at once. I am gripping you by the shoulders with tears streaming down my face because you have ruined every fic I read for the next two hundred and sixteen business days. Nothing will ever compare. Sanity is a long lost dream. Your AO3 account isn't a prison, it's home.
If you can't already tell, I adore your work. As a writer myself, I get gender envy while reading it. Except its writing style envy. Your use of italics for highlighting humour is wonderful. The shift in dynamic across the years with Furina and Neuvillette is masterfully done. It's hard to ship Neuvifuri because to me it's only appealing in one of two scenarios: an AU where Neuvillette knows, or one in which he begs pitifully for Furina's forgiveness after trapping her and putting her on trial without knowing what she was going through. Your fic is easily the best example of the former I've ever read. The only reason I haven't flooded your inbox with Kudos and AO3 comments is because my account is acting up and I had to read as a guest.
I love every chapter. Like actually. The first one? Seeing their initial attitudes towards each other was fascinating. The one where Neuvillette gets The Horny? Literally so funny and somehow hot as hell at the same time. The chapter from the POV of the Gardes? Hilarious and an incredibly creative way of showcasing their relationship from the perspective of an outsider. On that note, the Gardes themselves are such colourful characters, I think it's amazing how you went to the effort to give everyone such a distinctive personality. Also the scene with Xiao and Zhongli was scrumptious, that one line... "Zhongli placed a hand on the back of his neck, thumb gently kneading the soft spot where his neck and shoulder met like a man scruffing an unruly cat." That's so cute to me. Your Honour. They are so cute. And Neuvi being all baffled by himself for trying to intimidate Zhongli was endlessly amusing, especially when you said something along the lines of '"Neuvillette didn't mind being spoken of like a dog in heat, but he drew the line at barbs being aimed at Furina." You nail the dynamics every single time. Wild.
The internal conflicts of both Furina and Neuvillette are delightful as well. Furina's guilt for needing Neuvillette versus Neuvillette wishing Furina would let herself need him? Collapses. I am bleeding from multiple stab wounds. It's so eiohrohsiowiourwhrf. They're so vdhkfhoewirdkf. Neuvillette being awed by her humanity versus Furina wishing she could properly hide it. Neuvillette wishing he could share her altruism but knowing he would send a fleet to die in Furina's place even if she despised him for it. Banging my fist on the table. The intrinsic protectiveness and the guilt of needing to be protecting. Clutching my head in my hands. Tearing out my hair. Shuddering like I'm attached to an electric chair cranked up to the highest voltage.
I would suffer the trials of every hero from Greek mythology to read more of it.
Thanks for reading! Love hearing your thoughts on this; I think one of the big appeals about this pairing is crazy devotion that can happen between two people lying to God's face. It's like the greatest hits of every ship that's tickled my brain over the years and I'm glad I have an opportunity to play around with it.
No Neman Lions will need to be slain for the next chapter (probably)

Makeup Help
So I think that Neuvillette wears makeup, and then I had the thought of him helping me do my makeup, specifically eyeliner bcs I have a weird thing about my eyes. Which now leads us to this fic lol
Rating: Gen
Genre: Fluff
Words: 1255 words

Tumblr media
“Neuvi, could you help me out with my makeup?” Andromeda asks, looking over herself in the mirror.
Neuvillette turns to look at her through the open doorway to his bedroom, part way through getting dressed for the day. Andromeda thinks that he looks handsome in just his shirt and pants, his hair not tied back with its usual ribbon yet, though she knows that he’d never be seen in public dressed down like this. It only makes him letting her see him like this all the sweeter of a view— it’s a sign of just how close they’ve gotten over the past month.
“What would you need me to help with? Your makeup always looks lovely,” he says.
“I’m good with lipstick and eyeshadow, but I can’t do eyeliner,” Andromeda says. “You’re good at that, though.”
Though Neuvillette is good at makeup in general. Andromeda knows that he prefers a subtle look, with a small bit of eyeshadow you can only notice if you’re close enough to him, but she also knows from some of his looks when the two have gone out on dates that he can do more than just that. His more dramatic looks might be reserved for special occasions, but they're nonetheless impressive.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you use eyeliner before,” Neuvillette notes as Andromeda steps out of the bathroom with an eyeliner pencil in hand.
“You haven’t because I’m not good at putting it on. My hand always gets too shaky,” she says.
She doesn’t mention that the reason her hands get shaky is the pencil being so close to her eye terrifies her. She tried to teach herself how to properly do her eyeliner in the past, but every time she’d see someone else doing it she’d have to look away as the tip of the eyeliner got closer to the inner crease of the eye, flinching as if she were hit. The thought of anything even somewhat sharp being close to her eyes is a terrifying one, and she’s always too nervous about accidentally stabbing herself to be able to line anything up straight.
Still, she wishes that she could put some eyeliner on. It’s always something she appreciates in other people’s makeup, and she wishes that she didn’t have to get so nervous that she can’t even make a straight line. And as much as it’s nerve wracking to think of anyone doing her eyeliner for her, she finds the thought of Neuvillette of all people doing it far more soothing.
“I don’t have much experience doing makeup for other people,” Neuvillette says.
Andromeda notes that’s not a no. “That’s okay. I’m sure it’d still come out better than anything that I could do.”
“I wouldn’t say that.”
“I would. You haven’t seen my past attempts at eyeliner.”
Neuvillette looks at Andromeda as she closes the distance between them, sitting down on the edge of his bed. He looks her over, as if assessing whether or not he could do what she’s asking. Then he says, “Is there a particular style you’d like?”
“Nothing fancy. Maybe just some simple stuff with a little bit of a wing?” Andromeda says.
“I can do that,” Neuvillette replies.
He takes the eyeliner pencil from her hand, kneeling down to be at eye level with her. When he looks at her, Andromeda gets the feeling that he’s mapping out her face. It’s simultaneously odd and flattering to think of how he seems like he’s trying to memorize every detail, first imagining what he’s planning to do before he draws the eyeliner on. Andromeda’s never been the type of person who likes much attention, but capturing the attention of the Iudex like this feels uniquely special.
“May I?” Neuvillette prompts, nodding towards her lap.
“Oh, uh, yeah, sure,” she says.
Neuvillette carefully lowers himself to sit on Andromeda’s lap, as if he’s worried he’ll be too much to fit properly on her. But for as much as he’s taller and heavier than she is, she can’t help but think they fit perfectly together with how his knees bracket either side of her hips. Him doing her makeup already felt intimate, but their increased proximity now only heightens that.
“Sorry if I flinch or anything,” Andromeda says. “I… I don’t like pointy things by my eyes.”
“Ah. Well, I can promise you that I will be as careful as possible,” Neuvillette assures.
“Thank you.”
Neuvillette starts with her right eye, drawing from the outer corner of her eye upwards in the shape of a wing. He keeps the pressure of the eyeliner pencil just strong enough to draw it on, but still his touch is gentle. He doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable, and that’s something that she can’t help but adore him even more for.
Neuvillette is careful as he draws along her lash line, though Andromeda still tenses as he gets close to the inner corner of her eye. She trusts him, and she knows that he’d never do anything to hurt her, but still it’s intimidating having the tip of the pencil so close to her eyes.
“You’re doing wonderfully, my love,” Neuvillette says as if picking up on her nervousness. Andromeda supposes it would be hard for him to miss with how close they are right now. “It’ll be just a moment longer.”
“Okay,” she says as he moves to draw the wing along her other eye.
Andromeda tries to focus just on Neuvillette instead of the feeling of the eyeliner pencil along the edge of her eyelid. It’s hard for her to make out the fine details of his face without her glasses, but she can still see the focused look on his face by the set of his jaw and the furrowing of his eyebrows. She focuses on his hand on her cheek, and his stomach brushing against her as he draws himself closer to her.
Andromeda thinks that she’s lucky. She doesn’t think there’s anyone else that could say that they’re in a relationship with a dragon sovereign, and even beyond that she can’t imagine being with a more gentle and caring partner.
It’s nice having someone that she knows she can completely trust. It’s hard for Andromeda to let her guard down, and even though she knows she’s not completely doing that now as Neuvillette does her eyeliner, she still has enough faith in him to even ask him for help like this.
Neuvillette lifts the pencil from Andromeda’s eye, looking her over. “You look lovely, mon coeur.”
“Only thanks to your help,” Andromeda says, reaching up to stroke his hair with one hand.
“You’re beautiful with or without makeup,” he states. He presses a quick kiss to her forehead as he gets up, bracing himself with one hand on her shoulder. “If you don’t like how it looks, though, just let me know. I can do it differently if you’d like me too.”
Andromeda gets up, taking the eyeliner pencil back from Neuvillette. “Okay. I’m sure it looks great, though.”
Her hand brushes against his as she makes her way back into the bathroom, taking a look at herself in the mirror. Neuvillette did well— it’s a subtle look, but still she likes the way the wings show off her eyes. She calls another thanks towards him as she takes her eyeshadow palette from the drawer. She has a little more work to do getting ready for the day, but she’s glad to have a little help with things from her boyfriend.

My reaction to the 5.6 livestream (i’ve seen some of it + seen several 5.6 leaks, so most of this isn’t my immediate reaction)
Long post under the cut
Venti!!!!!! :D
Escoffier! I don’t plan on pulling her but her gameplay looks cool and I love the fact that she uses the Golden Ratio in her burst
IFA HAS A SKELETON AS HIS NIGHTSOUL MARKS??? WHAT??? I need him. He will come home.
Kinich in fontaine was not on my 2025 bingo card but here we are. I wasn’t expecting him to show up but we are so back. I love Kinich and more kinich is always a good thing
AND REMURIA LORE?? AND MORE DRAGON LORE??? WE ARE SOOOOOO BACK
Is it just me or does the mond cathedral look different from usual?? New building?? (or is it just the lighting)??
Dahlia!! I think his design got reworked or changed from the leaks (unless if he was officially revealed earlier, in this case i forgot :( ) but I really like it!! He looks cool!!
Hexenzirkel!!! I wonder what the chess pieces represent??
NEW ALBEDO POWERS??? Hmmmm
The section about Neuvi being stabbed and Albedo’s powers constantly changing between eachother?? Very cool, are those two events secretly related?

okay but what if i reveal in his time in khaenri'ah, neuvi was such a little shit and would fight people because no one believed he was a dragon, and he took it personally?? oh and he also used a scythe and sword before switching to a catalyst because why stay away when you can stab your enemies violently????

You know what I think? Childe is only naive with people he trusts.
Childe is definitely kinda naive when it comes to people he thinks he can trust. For example: The Tsaritsa, Pulcinella and Zhongli (his reaction in the bank). When he trusts someone, he doesn't half ass it, he gives it completely. He trusts the Traveller and what did he do? In the Fontaine quest, he gave his Vision to the Traveller with full belief that they will keep it safe. When this man trusts someone, he will do so with his full heart. Too bad he will stabbed in the back by the Cryo Archon and Pulci.
I think while he presents himself as a silly guy, he is not fully stupid. He managed to trick the Traveller and managed to pull off an escape from the Fortess. He has his moments of dumbassery but well within reason. When it matters, he will be intelligent. Because Childe is just a mask. He has masks. Tartaglia is another mask. Childe introduced himself as Childe, a sunny, eager guy who is easy to get along with. When he shows up in the Golden House, that's not Childe. That's Tartaglia, the Eleventh Harbinger who's left many a destruction in his wake. Ajax is reserved for his younger siblings. So yes, as much as these are name, these are also his masks. For me personally, Childe has no true personality. Instead he has a series of masks suited for the people around him as he sees fit.
He's not an actual fool and I am very sure that when that particular wave of mischaracterization hits, I'll be very annoyed. The Childe hate is frankly, very unwarranted. They call him all kinds of untruths.
Like where did they get the "Childe is a simp" bit? Just cause he called Lumine girlie or paid for a few things during that Liyue quest cause Zhongli is so used to making mora that he forgot to carry a pouch of it as a mortal disguise, doesn't mean he's a simp. Childe is at best, friendly to the Traveller. He thinks they are strong and fun to be around and that maybe travelling with them would be fun cause wherever the Traveller goes, strong enemies are sure to be found. He's not a simp for any character. I love Griffin's song covers, but he is definitely not helping with this weird fanon characterization of Childe that's being considered canon by some weird fans.
Also Childe being weak??? Where??? Idk where people get the "Childe is Weak" bits from. Like ik why Skirk calls him weak, she literally trained him so she had mentor rights. She's also definitely a non human, so her definition of strong vastly differs.
Idk why she says Traveller and Neuvi is strong cause they dealt the last blow to the whale, like Childe did most of the damage over a very long period of time. I mean yeah, Traveller is OP and Neuvi is a Sovereign but they are also not mortal. Obviously they are strong. Childe did more in that fight, as much as he humanely could just for the funsies because this man is an adrenaline junkie.
Other characters?? Like Childe will win against all the human characters. Like the only human who I think has a chance of defeating him is Shenhe (Arrle too but she doesn't really feel human to me idk why) The other human characters don't even come close to being able to defeat him, but the glazers say otherwise. (I've seen people saying Kaeya or Diluc or even Ning are capable of defeating him like??? How??? Where???) Childe is an actual soldier, he fought his way up the ranks as a teen and became a Harbinger at eighteen! He has mastery over all weaponry with the exception of the bow. And with the way his strongest hit with the bow is him simply throwing the arrow, his physical strength is probably very high.
People cannot get it through their brains that gameplay doesn't equate to the character's actual strength. If you build a character right, they'll deliver. However in the actual story, Childe is one of the strongest characters on the powerscale. If you remove the immortals from the powerscale, this guy can be even in the top 5 because that's how strong he is in the lore.
This guy fell into the Abyss and came out alive. He was a child and he survived when adults and hell, even immortals couldn't withstand the effects of the Abyss. Child came out with a shit ton of trauma and he's definitely seen some things down there but his psyche is somewhat intact enough for him to function in society. He was strong enough to do that.
Childe can never be a weak character to me and when I see the fandom say otherwise, I get so, so angry. He's a complex guy. He is so much more than 'Ginger', 'Simp', 'Liar', 'Weak', 'Asshole' or whatever the fandom wants to call him these days. Some of the things I see people say about him are as follows:-
•"He lied to us!" Oh boo hoo, so did Zhongli and I don't see anyone harping him for it. Zhongli arranged for the whole thing to happen and Childe was just the pawn who had to make it happen, he didn't even know what was going on.
•"He tried to kill us!" So did Scaramouche but the fandom licks his shoes and worships him anyway. He got redeemed, yes but all the harm and damage he did still happened. He hurt people too but just cause the fandom is full of masochists who get off being insulted, everything is alright apparently.
•"He tried to harm the people of Liyue!" Wtf was Raiden doing to her people? It was a fucking dictatorship in Inazuma but the fans don't mind that, do they??? I didn't really like it when she apologised and all was forgiven.
•"Childe is a terrible brother!" He cares for his brother. He takes the safety of his siblings as well as their dreams very seriously. Diluc tried to harm Kaeya but nooo he's misunderstood right? Diluc was grieving right? Kaeya did nothing yet Diluc tried to pull a sword on him. I know grief can do horrible things to a person but between the guy who pulled a sword on his brother put of anger and grief and the guy who used a transformation that could harm himself just to protect his brother's dreams, who is a better brother? According to the fandom, apparently the first guy. (I'm not villainizing Diluc here, I'm just presenting my point here. Diluc is a great character and did not deserve the hell that Dottore made for him)
Always when it's Childe, people pick at these things but when it comes to everyone else, they get off scot free without so much as a slap on the wrist. Like Childe lied? This guy was very upfront about being a Harbinger, it was very obvious that he would do something so idk why people are so butthurt about it. The Harbingers don't care for the Traveller and won't take their feelings into account when they make plans. Childe and Traveller are quite cordial now in the game, but the fandom is still hung up on that 'betrayal'.
Childe is obviously going to be one of the key players in the story in a way most of the characters aren't. From his name being Ajax, to that story of Ajax (with that whole sink into the Abyss and forsake the self and be reborn into a holy infant bit), Dain only talking about him and not the other Harbingers, that whole description of his Foul Legacy that Skirk gave (if you get what I mean), him having to be directly involved in that project Snow or whatever is going on when Arrle said she's just helping with funding, his constellation being broken by the Whale and Skirk's description as his master...Childe is not a background character. He is one of the main players in whatever story is going to be unraveled. Also the part where it's said Skirk saved Childe from that fate, the word they used 'providence' who's definition is 'The protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power' and that means some relation to the gods which I'm taking as Celestia probably. Childe is definitely crucial in the story.
He's going to be very important to the storyline that is going to be laid out, post Snez I am guessing.
"Give us complex characters!" They can't even handle Childe.
Fans, my ass. They boil characters down to their mediocre understanding and pretend this mediocrity is canon and force this fanon down everyone's throat. I get not liking a character, but having such shallow understanding and such shallow reasoning...is just annoying to me. Like I'm not a big fan of Dazai from BSD but that doesn't mean I won't put in the effort to understand him as a character as well as his backstory and his whole deal. If this shallowness is what gets celebrated and encouraged in the Genshin fandom, then I'm never going to say I'm a part of the fandom.
I have to scrounge through the Ao3 tags to find something that isn't mischaracterization. Like okay, you can't get something 100% canon, I'm not telling anyone to. I just want Childe to be treated as the complex character he is. Childe is THE morally grey guy of Genshin Impact. Treat him as such instead of...whatever the fanon version of him is.
I don't care if someone thinks I'm overreacting with this post. I am allowed to have my opinion on this and well this is my opinion. I am a Childe defender till the day I die, he just ticks off so many boxes for me. Childe as well as Ace Trappola from Twisted Wonderland are kind of in the same area, both are loyal ginger guys with a cheeky personality and a morally grey setting.
I like complex characters and I'd like to see being presented as such instead of the 2D fanon that the fandom tries to shove down my throat.
Anyways, thank you for coming to my Ted-Talk. I hope that this didn't bother those reading this so much, I can get...passionate about my favourite things.
I wish you all a pleasant rest of your day/night.
skirk being called 'fool's master' is gonna unleash a whole new wave of childe mischaracterisation, isn't it?
