Hi, to no one's surprise I have a Dair prompt for you! There were so many good ones! Here it is: "I organize a petition to get you, the CEO, to live off of my wage for three months and since it’s getting media attention, your PR manager suggests you accept the challenge, and you keep coming into my department to ask me how to do things"
Alright, my darling friend, as I have informed you already, this spiralled wildly out of control. They’re both just such idiots, though! I kept trying to make them schmooch and all they wanted to do was be giant idiots in love.
So, as such, I thought it’d be best to post it to AO3, but here’s a teaser!
Also, I cannot express how poorly I did sticking to your prompt. It is shameful.  ----- Title: An Utter Lack of Self-Preservation Instincts Fandom: Gossip Girl (though typing that makes me want to die...this is for the Princess and the Pauper fandom as I like to think of it) Pairing: Dan/Blair Other Characters: Dan being totally 😍 the meaner Blair is to him, Blair deserving nice things (and Dan being one of those nice things) Additional Tags: the lightest of enemies to lovers, complete AU (Dan isn’t Gossip Girl, OF COURSE), Suzanne’s total inability to follow a prompt b/c this isn’t at all what you asked for! Word Count: ~6,300 AO3 Link  -----
It was intended to be a puff piece. A quick little fluffy profile with Vanity Fair about the new sustainable fashion division of Waldorf Designs. Except the article the editor sent over for her comment in no way resembles a puff piece. And the cause for such a deviation from the plan appears to be one Daniel Humphrey. Blair Waldorf never met the man but she is prepared to destroy him.
“‘Sustainability is of course a noble aim,’ says Daniel Humphrey, Digital Communications Assistant for Waldorf Designs, ‘but sustainable for who?’” Blair reads aloud to her assistant, her voice rising in pitch as she continues. “‘How is it sustainable for our US factory workers to live off minimum wage? How is it sustainable for a company as successful as Waldorf Designs to continue to offer unpaid internships? Perhaps the company’s intentions are good but it’s hard not to see this new division of Waldorf Designs as merely an attempt to greenwash products to make our most privileged client feel a little better about themselves.’” She slams the draft of the article onto her desk. “Has PR drafted a response?”
Her assistant Hannah nods. “We sent it an hour ago. It’ll be included in the article.”
An article that, owing to one Dan Humphrey, is now a longform deep dive into the deep-rooted inequalities that existed within the fashion industry. She is going to kill him.
Where is Humphrey’s office?”
It isn’t entirely uncommon for Blair to sweep through the admin offices of Waldorf Designs. Still, her presence causes a slight frisson of energy to pass through the offices and cubicles on the seventh floor. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t love it.
She catches sight of Dan Humphrey well before he notices her. Based on his role (a glorified assistant) and the ‘I know better than everyone’ tone within the article, she expected someone straight out of college – someone ready to claw, and climb over everyone to prove their intelligence and worth. She did not expect a man who, if she were to guess, was closer to her 35-years of age. A man who looks a little bored, reclined in his office chair, drumming a green highlighter against his pant leg.
“If it isn’t Waldorf Design’s own Benedict Arnold?” He fumbles the highlighter. It spins out of his hand, as he quickly sits up and then jumps to his feet.
Perhaps not the most professional of greetings, but effective.
“You’re Blair Waldorf.”
“And you’re the reason for my migraine.” He frowns. “Follow me.”
There was a time when Blair might have dressed this Dan Humphrey down in a more public setting, but that’s not who she is anymore. Besides, there is a good chance they can still redirect the story. Dan follows her into a small conference room at the far end of the floor. She sits down at the head of the table and is a little surprised when he sits in the seat right beside her. Does this man have zero self-preservation instincts?
She sets the folder she carried up with her in front of him. “May I ask, Mr. Humphrey, why you felt it was your place or right to give a quote to the press on behalf of Waldorf Designs?”
“Dan.” At her raised eyebrow, he continues. “You can call me Dan, and I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He reaches for the folder, opens it. Blair watches carefully as he reads the article, his eyes widening the slightest bit as he reads. “No,” he says, his voice low and surprised. “She didn’t.”
“‘She didn’t’ what?” Blair asks.
Dan shakes his head, ignoring her as he continues to read. Once he’s done, he slides the folder back across to her.
“The author of the article is my friend—,” he pauses, reconsiders, “was my friend? Briefly my girlfriend, too, though that didn’t—”
“Humphrey, I am not interested in your friends or girlfriends. Please be less hyper verbal and tell me what is going on.”
He takes a deep breath. “I know the author, Vanessa Abrams. I didn’t realize she was quoting me, I—”
“Did you tell her what you said was off the record?”
“No. But she didn’t tell me I was on the record.”
Blair stands up. “I think legal can work with that.”
“You’re going to bury it?”
“I’m going to try.” He gives her a look like he’s—she doesn’t quite know how to categorize it—but, it’s almost like he’s disappointed in her. Which is absurd. She doesn’t know this low-level minion nor does she have any intention to get to know him. Still, she hates it when people make their disapproval evident. “What? What is that look?”
“Well, am I wrong?”
“Most likely.” She shifts her weight slightly from one foot to the other. “About what?”

Do you have any nsfw/sfw headcanons for Katakuri, Shanks and Mihawk?
rises from the dead like the terrible admin i am i’m forgot to post lmao my b. no but seriously, just been really tired so. uh, smut under the cut.
general:
katakuri:
Katakuri isn’t openly affectionate at first. It takes him a while to really start displaying any physical affection. But he’s a very good listener. He even enjoys it if, while he’s doing paperwork or whatever, you come in and chat. He finds it a nice break in the tedium of running his mother’s empire.
After a while of being together, whether it’s an arranged, rushed marriage or you have time to get to know one another, he mellows out. He’s still a bit reserved about open affection in front of his siblings, since he does have a “reputation” to keep, but he isn’t going to actually complain if you crawl into his lap during a Tea Party or take his hand while you’re out strolling. And if you’re far too small to hold his hand, expect to be perched on his shoulder so the two of you can chat or even curled up under his scarf, if you can fit. He might be shy, but it reminds him that you aren’t ashamed to be with him.
That being said, he makes up for his aloofness in public thoroughly in private. There’s a whole section of his home on Komugi Island that he allows only a few, extremely well-trusted people in, and there he shows his true character. Even if he’s only been gone a few hours or he’s seen you multiple times throughout the day, he’ll collapse into your arms, using your chest as a pillow and allowing you to run your fingers through his hair as you chat quietly.
He’s not big on grand gestures, but he’ll bring you home small gifts that catch his eye or have his bakers deliver something to you during the day, just to show you he’s thinking of you.
Obviously he’s pretty shy about his scars and his teeth, and he’s very sensitive about them. But the first time you see his face, he absolutely melts when you run your fingers over the former, trailing kisses down them. It bolsters his confidence a lot and you quickly learn he enjoys it when you caress his cheeks.
mihawk:
Like Katakuri, he’s not very openly affectionate, and even when he starts to display his affections, they’re very classy and reserved. Even in private, he can come off as cold. But he also isn’t going to push you away if you try to get some attention. Curling up in his lap while he’s reading a book or just hugging him from behind while he’s cooking will get you a soft chuckle and the question, “Are you feeling needy, my dear?” He knows he’s not the most open person, so he allows you those small things if you need them.
Sometimes, if he’s going to a warlord meeting and/or just out because he’s “bored,” he’ll bring you along. It’s actually really nice, just the two of you on the sea. Something about it makes him more open, and he’ll bring you to sit in his lap while the waves lap at the edges of the boat. During fights, if he decides to divulge, he’ll make sure you’re well protected, but knows you enjoy watching him in action. He’ll never admit it, but from time to time he really does get into fights just for that reason.
He’s really not about bringing home gifts. He’ll bring you small trinkets from time to time or maybe a new blanket if he’s really feeling it, but even if he’s been gone for days or weeks, he won’t generally bring you home gifts. That being said, he’s at his most voracious when he’s been gone from home for a while. It really shows how much he loves and misses you then.
shanks:
This man is a big flirt and a big cuddler. If he can do both, he’s even happier. As it is, he is always doing at least one or the other.
Tokens of affection from him come in the form of the most random shit imaginable. Sometimes it’s normal, like flowers or a cake from the local shop. Other times it’s a crossbow you can’t even lift or a bottle of some obscure alcohol he bought off a rando in an alley. Either way, he’s always very proud of his gifts, though he definitely gets certain things just to get a rise out of you.
His favorite thing to do-- and I say this loosely bc he doesn’t know it’s his favorite thing to do-- is get really drunk and seek you out. Oddly, he isn’t the type to get stupid drunk and just flirt with anyone. No, he’s the type of drunk that gets really, really clingy to his partner. If he can’t find you, he can and will sulk and pout until he either finds you or you find him. At that point, he’ll yell happily and tug you down into his lap and resume his casual drinking.
He doesn’t usually get hangovers. Being a professional drinker, he’s outgrown them for the most part. But when he does get them, he’s a baby about it and will whine if you get out of bed, even if it’s to get him aspirin and/or more alcohol (usually both). When you come back with it though, he’ll thank you happily and pull you down onto the bed again with one hand, already guzzling the drink down with the other.
smut:
katakuri:
He doesn’t have a lot of experience, but he does have some. Being so shy about his mouth and also as intimidating as he is doesn’t generate a lot of passion for him. So when you first sleep together, he’s naturally a little reserved. Constantly asking if you’re alright at the beginning. He’s worried about his size and his teeth hurting you so he’s slow and cautious. It ends up being you who has to push things further, riling him up until he stops worrying about your pain and starts worrying about your pleasure. Once he loses himself to it, he’s a very good lover.
Obviously he does still need to be careful about his teeth, especially when giving oral, so he takes that the slowest every time. It works out though, and he gets better at it over time. It’s also where he learns the joys or orgasm denial (which he’s really too sweet to use too much).
The positions you start out using are pretty vanilla until you open him up to the pleasures of quickie’s in his office, whether he’s got you bent over his desk or you’re riding him in his office chair, his large, gloved hands sliding up and down your thighs while he lets you do the work. You do have to work to coax him into it the first time because he’s worried about being caught, but after that it’s easy. Also Katakuri is probably a good candidate for cockwarming, especially in the office, once he gets over his nerves. When you crawl into his lap and slide him inside you, just sitting and teasing, talking, whatever you’re doing to him, he feels all his stress just fade into the background.
Food play. We all know it’s true and I should say it. He’s a bit hesitant at first but when he sees you covered in some of his favorite sweets one night when he comes home, he’s instantly hard. And don’t even get me started on eating a donut that’s around his --
He’s only really open to exploring kinks with a trusted partner, that being you. It’s only when you bring up trying out different things (food play, for example) in the bedroom that he starts to find out things he enjoys himself and asking if you would be willing to try.
mihawk:
Mihawk has a lot of experience. The man fucks and everybody knows it. Mostly it’s one night stands or short flings, until he meets a steady partner. Then all that experience really comes to the front.
Knows his kinks already. Knows what he likes and is actually really good at guessing what you’re into as well. His personal favorites are blindfolding and light bondage, usually tying his partner’s hands over their head and to the headboard.
Another big thing he likes is you wearing either one of his shirts or his hat, or both. Something about seeing you in the long white silk shirts makes him want to very slowly unbutton it while he leaves a trail of open mouth kisses down the newly exposed skin before sliding it slowly off your shoulders. There’s no excuse for the hat, it just makes him hard.
He’s very into exploring your kinks as well. He’s not a selfish lover by any means and so long as it doesn’t hurt you (too bad, at least) he’s willing to try them. If he doesn’t like them or he’s uncomfortable with them then he’ll tell you, but he isn’t going to deny you, he’ll just request to do them less.
He mainly likes making love in the bed, but if he’s up late or has just come home after being away, he won’t deny if you seek him out and ride him in his chair or he’ll just attack you wherever he finds you, pinning you to the wall and taking you roughly.
shanks:
Shanks is definitely the most open out of all three of them. He’s a bubbly and goofy lover, prone to making jokes and being immature in the middle of sex and making you burst out laughing. Sex with him is an adventure in more ways than one.
I’m not saying Shanks has a voyeur kink, but I am saying Shanks does not mind being caught fucking. Not necessarily for his partner with another person (which he would totally be down for it’s just not his main). He really just doesn’t care who sees him. He’ll have sex with you on deck in full view of another ship or port, in an open window, or on the beach just outside the reach of the light of the bonfire while his crew continues to party. Fingering you underneath the table in whatever bar you happen to find yourself in that night is a common occurrence. He is also not above you blowing him under said table.
In terms of kinks (besides the one above), he’s very relaxed and is willing to do whatever whenever. He doesn’t have any specifics until he decides he wants sex and then it’s just whatever he’s feeling that day. If you have any you want to try, he’s probably already tried it at least once and will guide you through it. Is also suspiciously good at guessing what you would be into but when you point that out he just says it’s “experience.”
Honestly a big advocate for threesomes. If he can have one, he will and really needs a partner who’s okay with that. He isn’t necessarily noncommittal, but he does at least like threesomes when the ship stops in port somewhere and you kinda have to be okay with that otherwise it won’t work.

Headcanons on how the LIs would react to the Oracle suggesting they could start a family once their situation becomes more peaceful.
This request is, as the kids say, “BUSSIN’” (Admin Yara help!!! My older millennial is showing 😫)
Cipactli:
Surprise will be the first thing that crosses his features. Sure, as a royal its was always expected of him to produce an heir to the thrown, however he never expected to find someone he truly loved and that would love him back in order to do so. And then you entered his life and basically turned it upside down and now you have the AUDACITY to come in and tell him that you want to start a family with all misty eyed and looking the way you do.....sign him the fuck up.
He will be so thrilled and just might get slightly misty eyed with you. After all that has happened in Huatzintepec and now finally living in a world surrounded by true peace; he couldn’t imagine a more perfect world and partner to raise and grow a family in and with.
Regardless of wether you both decide to adopt or have your child the fact remains that Cipactli will absolutely R E A D  E V E R Y  B O O K  A V A I L A B L E that might help/ease him into parenthood an DESPITE his preparations he still was not ready (cause who really is am I right). As soon as the child is here he will panic; is he good enough, is he prepared enough, will his child love him, etc., etc. You will most definitely need to help him get out of his own head and reassure him that he will be a wonderful father.
Mukondi:
Mukondi would be ecstatic at the idea of starting a family with you. Although she will be slightly apprehensive at first due to her duties as the human representative of Saiph; most of her insecurities and fears would lie on whether or not she would spend enough time with your child when, as it is, she barely has enough time for herself. Of course, this would be something discussed between you both before any definite decision is made and you both mutually agree that this would be easily solvable by hiring or staff/representatives to take her place in her absence (make👏🏻her👏🏻 realize👏🏻she’s👏🏻not👏🏻an👏🏻island👏🏻and👏🏻it’s👏🏻OK👏🏻TO👏🏻ASK👏🏻FOR👏🏻HELP👏🏻AND👏🏻NOT👏🏻BEAR👏🏻EVERYTHING👏🏻ON👏🏻HER👏🏻OWN👏🏻).
She would be the first one to bring you ideas for baby names whether you like it or not. Lists, upon lists of baby names and meanings, Mukondi does not want to give her child a basic name that everyone has. To her there is allot in a name and it’s important to her that this child knows the thought and care that was meticulous placed in choosing a name that they would be proud to bear.
Mama Mukondi is simply the best mother, hands down, no 🧢. She will spoil them rotten but she isn’t above disciplining when she has to. When it comes to her family pride is the only word that comes to minds, so many things were lost during that time in Huatzintepec but so much more was gained, and for that she couldn’t be more grateful.
Ariki:
At first, he’s super excited, 10/10 yes lets have a child together (very excite,  much wow). However, after his initial reaction, there may be some doubts that will settles in. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because he needs to make sure that this child will be supported and loved by both of you. By this, his intentions are not doubt IN you or your capabilities to love anyone but it’s more security that he seeks in your relationship.
It is commonly known for merfolk to be very particular about their life partners, some spend years assessing and building a relationship until finally they feel secure enough to start dating, get married, etc. and this is no exception when it comes to building a family together. There is no doubt in Ariki’s mind that the depth of is love for you is endless, so even though he has his initial hesitations, it’s not something you can both talk about. Set up a game plan, share your insecurities, assure him about your intentions, be completely transparent. Once everything is discussed you can expect Ariki to go right back to the happy baby boi that he was when you first mentioned starting a family together.
Expect Ariki to be super excited about decorating his future child’s room. He would come up with motifs  and colors, and of course you would put everything into a cohesive idea which you can both execute without the child’s room being overwhelmed with Ariki’s excitement. HAND MADE DECORATIONS FROM PAPA ARIKI!!!!
Dior:
“....so like...you wanna get a puppy or something...?” (let me also express that if you have a puppo/catto that you call family you are very valid cause same...anyways) Don’t hold your breath on getting an excitable reaction from Dior...you won’t. They might even, lowkey, seem repulsed by the idea of family mainly cause most of the time it involves children.
Look me in the eyes and tell me that Dior would find the idea of a small humanoid being that needs constant attention, screams when displeased, and might have the nerve to grow up and defy any rule set in place by Dior appealing in the slightest. Dior already fills out all those position why in the world would they want a second them. But being serious for a moment; Dior, much like Ariki or any species of merfolk, most definitely consider this a very prominent step in their future. So it is a very real thing that Dior may suggest getting a pet before a child. Much like Ariki, sit down with them, talk with them, discuss any insecurities (cause believe me they’re there). And in reality, it might take a long time for Dior to come around to the idea of a family with you. The one thing that Dior most certainly wants to make sure is that you know that they love you and they consider you their family/whole world regardless of children status.
EVENTUALLY, and with lots of physical, emotional, and mental preparations, Dior will come around, they might lean more towards adopting a child that may be slightly older but still young enough that they can help raise. Trust and believe that Dior will have matching outfits with their mini me. “You may be only 3′ tall  and know a total of 4 syllables but thats not an excuse to not look your best, especially not when you’re with me”.
Waauru:
You and Waauru must’ve been together for a long time for you to bring up the possibility of raising a family together, and even more surprising still that she agreed so plainly to you.
Waauru is not one to beat around the bush specially not when it comes to you, she has always prided herself of being completely open to you. You will always know how she’s feeling  even when she tries to shut you out, so when the time came in which you began to plan, envision, and execute a future with her with the possibility of children she was roarin’ and ready to go. Topics like these are oddly comforting to Waauru due to the love she has with her own family and with you as her partner the conversation most definitely came up even before you were to meet her family.
The idea of starting/continuing her family’s legacy with you fills Waauru’s heart with so much joy. She loves you so much and the fact that you’re in her life simply astounds her. Waauru never thought she could reach this level of serendipity and sereneness in her life after everything she’s been through. Most of her amazement comes from the fact that she is inspired by you and all that you were capable of doing despite being thrown in the thick of a political discourse and was the tipping point in bringing it all of it to a climax. Now she gets to do life with you as you both prepare for the latest addition.
Halle:
*ERROR 404 HALLE’S FUNCTIONING BRAINCELLS COULD NOT BE FOUND*
Oh boy, you did it, you broke the man. Only the heavens know how much was taken out of him to even talk to you in a full sentence, he still doesn’t know how he’s in a relationship with you, and now you want a F a M i L y!!! He’s gonna need a minute...no really. The request will catch him so off guard that he might need a moment alone to himself and his thoughts and in all honesty it might bother him slightly that you asked this of him. This will, of course, lead you to ask why to which he responds : “Well aren’t ‘we’ enough, why do you want to bring another being into our dynamic?!?!” With that he’ll storm off leaving you confused and a little hurt, but for know you drop the topic and just let him reconvene with himself. In his moments alone he sighs and thinks to himself: “...why did I say that?...you know thats not true Halle...?” Deep down, yes, yes he does want a family to call his and he couldn’t imagine doing so than with you; now he’s left rattling his brain trying to figure out what could’ve caused such a reaction...fear
After several hours of processing and coming to terms with himself, Halle comes back to you. Bright red face with so much embarrassment over his behavior with you, apologizing profusely for walking out on you. In these cases just hold his face, look him in the eyes, center him, ground him, and sit him down. When his able to breath at a steady pace again, expect the flood gates of emotion to open. He very rarely opens up but when he does it’s to you and only you. The main thing he focusses on though is this feeling of fear in the back of his mind much like Cipactli, only difference is that his is rooted in his own self conscious view of himself. Remind him how great of a friend, partner, lover, and man he is; remind him that what you asked doesn’t have to be done now, it is a very big step and something you can both talk and prepare for. This eases him, you both want this, just not right now and that is perfectly fine with both of you. Whenever you’re both ready he will be the proudest man in all of Saiph with you and your family by his side.
Taqtu:
*Queue the water works 🥺*
This man will be  ✨E M O T I O N A L ✨Let him get it out, crying will ensue, but don’t worry these are happy tears. Taqtu has always been a family man, whether its been with his own family or his people in general; he considers the people he grew up with, raised him, played with him, babysat him, the children in his clan that came after him, all of them he considers family so it’s safe to say that when you brought this desire to his attention he was so excited.” WAIT?!?! REALLY?!?! Your not yanking my chain are ya...wait...really, you meant it? Oh Sweetpea, you’ve made me the happiest man”. He didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with you, but here he is, head over heels (SIMP)
The other thing that has him all giddy is that he also gets to tell his tribe about this newfound journey you both are to take. The Ijiraat as a whole have suffered so much loss that whenever there is a new addition its a full on celebration. When you and Taqtu decided to begin your relationship, the whole tribe threw you both a party celebrating you as one of their own. The news of starting a family won’t be  any less of a celebration, if anything it will be even more so. It’s a new chapter in both of your lives that might spring forth a new life. It has been one of his unspoken dreams to start a family of his own one day and finally being able to do so with the love of his life by his side elates him. Taqtu does not know what he did to deserve you, but he thanks every star in the sky  for that fateful day he ran into you in the streets of Huatzintepec.
Seneca:
Seneca, like Halle, will be freaking out about it as soon as the suggestion leaves your lips; most of his reasoning being out of insecurities as well. However, unlike Halle, the main reason for his objection is because in reality he never knew what family was. How can a man who grew up without family be able to take care of a family of his own. Seneca does not expect you to do all the work in creating and raising this family by yourself, he wouldn’t allow it. Even so, he couldn’t see himself playing any significant part in the family dynamic that you so desire to have with him.
The idea of a family seems really nice to Seneca, poetic even, something he has probably talked about and studied as a disciple of the Sun god. It is a concept that is hard to grasp when the closest thing he has had to family is you. He, like Dior also, will take allot of: time love, and most definitely patience in order to even begin processing what you’ve asked. It is advisable in these instances to let him know that you understand where he comes from and that there is absolutely no rush for him to decide on this. In reality, family is more of a wound to him than something to look forward to, which is something that he is able to comfortably disclose to you after giving some thought to your request. Seneca follows by later stating: “...wounds are meant to heal, not fester. And if you will continue to have me and love me, the wound will heal...when that day comes I will be more than willing to create the most beautiful life that you deserve my sunshine...” (I’m NOT crying, you are).
Whether you both decide to have or adopt your new member of your family, on that day Seneca will learn what it means when people say love at first sight is real. One look at your child and his heart soars. He is grateful for the time that you gave him; it allowed him to heal so that way he could stop bleeding on the people that never hurt him, and with his new future with you he is certain that your family will only grow in love.

{ MAGGIE LINDEMANN . CIS FEMALE .  24 . SHE/HER }  did you see that { JORDYN GELLER } just pulled up in hidden hills with { CALEB WALSH } sitting next to them in the passengers seat - isn’t that cute ! you know, for a { MUSIC ARTIST / MODEL }, i’ve heard they’re really { TUMULTUOUS }, but that they make up for it by being so { WARM HEARTED }. i see them all the time on Snapchat && yesterday in US WEEKLY i read that they { HAVE } one daughter - can you believe that ?!
admin b or brooke here giving you my wildchild jordyn. ♥ this and i’ll come to you for some plots !
jordyn’s full name is jordyn marlene geller
she was born June 2, 1996
she was born in Little Italy, New York which is in Lower Manhattan.
jordyn moved from New York to LA at sixteen with Vincent Giancola, her childhood best friend and they lived together for three years before she’d met Caleb Walsh and moved out.
she is a musician at heart - but modeling is what brought her out to California.
her music says all the things she can’t articulate.
vinny introduced jordyn to caleb during a football game and basically set them up.
jordyn and caleb have what some might call a toxic relationship. they’re very loving and attentive to each other but when things get bad, they get bad. which is one of the reason she broke off her engagement a week before their wedding. but she never stopped loving him. even when they broke up he was still the first thing on her mind in the morning and the last person she thought of before falling asleep. he’s the missing piece to her puzzle and will always be the person who holds her heart.
even though her and caleb aren’t together at the moment, they are currently living together and she’s happy to be home again.
kinsley is her absolute heart and soul. jordyn is a very hands-on parent, but she also considers her daughter her little best friend. they have a rory and lorelai type of relationship and share a very special bond -- even though she knows her daughter’s a true daddy’s girl at heart.
she basically grew up with cartia, and loves her dearly. they’d conquered the world together and she was totally devastated when she’d moved. but now that she’s back, her heart is in a better place.
josie is her platonic soulmate and it’s just an added bonus that she’s currently dating her childhood best friend.
aside from her professional career, jordyn also opened up her own speak-easy in hidden hills just months ago named dans le noir. if she isn’t touring, you might catch her performing a few sets there, but she likes to host local celebrities as performing guests as often as possible (if you’re interested in having your character come sing or perform for a few nights at dans le noir please hmu and we can plot things out).

after her separation from caleb, jordyn racked up a bit of a body count... though for the first two months after their break up -- she tried to hide the fact she couldn’t think of being with anyone else so she always found herself sneaking over for the night.

she’ll binge watch HOURS of ghost adventures, ghost hunters, haunted, shows like that -- even if she’s absolutely terrified of them.
halloween is her shit, but can’t decide which is better, halloween or christmas.
she likes to smoke weed, drink, have fun -- but not around her daughter.
even if she SWEARS she doesn’t want any more children because her pregnancy was horrible and delivery was a living nightmare, she wants one more baby, a little boy cause she’s always.

if she ever ends up in jail again, you can probably bet that josie is sitting right beside her.

picked a whole bouquet of whoopsie-daisies the other day reading some Very badfeel content so to cheer myself up here’s some super self-indulgent ramblings about romeo recovery post-s2
“YOU CAN DANCE IF YOU WANT TO YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR INTERNALIZED MISOGYNY BEHIND” or how romeo learned to stop worrying and indulge in the ““feminine”“ shit in life
when romeo transitioned he scrubbed everything that could be potentially viewed as feminine from his appearance and behaviour. while he did everything he could about the former (hairstyle, clothing, body language, voice), it didn’t feel like enough bc he couldn’t change some things that ppl used to be jerks- his frame (short and lithe), his family, his being trans- so he made up for it by trying to “act” like a “real man”. this unfortunately meant he was super vulnerable to manipulative alt-right indoctrination tactics (”we will validate you as a man as long as you endorse our assholery and share our shitty beliefs about what it means to be a man”) and he was on the verge of getting sucked into gamergate ideology when [THIS LORE IS ANOTHER POST] and hey, now the world is minecraft. u dont gotta perform gender roles for villagers they dont care. xara will not only actually eat ur liver for pulling The Bullshit but when you are kind she smiles, so bright and warm, and it is very very nice so maybe you should keep on doing that. n fred? fred is chill with their Everything in a way uve only ever Dreamed of. romeo marinates in this sauce for a couple centuries and comes the closest to being comfortable in his own skin he’s ever been.
however,
after the Incident he slam-dunked himself back into the hypermasculinity juice bc it was a mindset “safe” from feeling pain, whether his or others’. n since the worlds the admins created dont have the same ideas of gender as the world they came from, once he’s been dethroned romeo has a particularly hard time adjusting wrt That on top of all the other 2750347502730 issues he has to face
anyway flash forward a couple months of being incredibly volatile bc he now has to confront all the terrible things he did and how Dare u make him do that and maybe if hes nasty enough he can provoke someone into killing him and saving him from having to unpack All Of That- (note from @simple-mooshroom-herder: Xara and Jesse at least grasp that Romeo will probably burn himself out on this bullshit eventually and the best thing to do is interact with him with a certain level of healthy detachment. Eventually he'll see that theres no "getting out of this" and he'll start to do the Work but until then its very frustrating to see that tactic take him nowhere.)
- one day petra notices how he’s constantly staring at all the ppl wearing cute dresses in beacontown and at first she thinks he's being creepy but then realizes that he's not being creepy and actually she knows exactly how he feels bc she also used to look at ppl wearing clothes super not suited for combat like that, like she wished she could wear them too, like if she just didnt have to keep up this image of the Warrior who is Not Soft Ever-
n ok. listen. these worlds have been specifically engineered to be better and kinder than the one the admins came from, and when people mess up- even REALLY mess up- people are generally not only willing to forgive you but support you as you try and get better. it’s instinctual for communities to respond to misdeeds with rehabilitation and reconciliation, rather than retaliation and renunciation (tho its not an overnight thing and it generally takes 1-3 people to spearhead the process, esp if the actions have affected a large group of people). like. ivor created something that almost destroyed the entire world, not just beacontown, yet by the end of season one he’s grown to be a part of the team- n its not just jesse & co being forgiving here, bc when ivor made his s1 build with 3 lava source blocks people objected to it, but by s2 he not only has lava in his build but a giant lake of it. (im assuming the fences around said lake are coming eventually, bc safety is still important, but the implications im choosing to take from this are a) despite almost ending the world people let him into their lives anyway and b) the community not only grew to accept but encourage his self-expression.)
BUT ANYWAY before i go off on that even more one day petra and romeo basically put on an impromptu fashion show in jesse’s house (bc their house is huge and, kind of perfect for a fashion show, and also right next to the order hall’s armory whence they stole a bunch of fancy swords to match the outfits) n theyre having a blast until the hero in residence , returns to their residence (and with COMPANY) n romeo is absolutely Mortified- caught red-handed showing feelings of an almost human nature, oh my god, this will NOT do- n this whole grand soliluquy of shame and excuses and apologies grabs the steering wheel of his tongue but he cant even spit a single syllable out bc jesse and lukas almost immediately dip leaving romeo panicking for a second before they come back with their inventories FULL of cute outfits, including a billion skirts and dresses, some of them are even enchanted so theyre like. super shiny or constantly flowing or things like that.
this actually ends up spiralling into a town-wide... not quite fashion show bc there's no runway or anything, everyone just shows up in their cutest/coolest outfits .. fashion convention?? Anyway several people come up to him and compliment him on his outfit casually before continuing along, not recognizing him not only bc of how hes done his hair and makeup n what hes wearing but he just seems... so happy (he might be wearing something on his head? like a headpiece or hat or something? but also maybe not hmm)- whoever this is, he's not hunched over like he's got several centuries' worth of sins crawling on his back he’s not trying to shrink and make small a human-shaped apology for the simple fact of his existence not dragging his feet like hes ready for, dreading, a hundred mile trek through the desert repenting hes just. hes literally just Vibing
anyway he's mostly been silent or just providing very quiet "thank you"s but when it turns out that some people showed up ready to play music and there's a song that he knows he literally cant help but start jamming out its the GOod Stim everyones a-dancing and a-jiving and some people start to sing and so of course he does too (the healing power of dancing and singing in cute outfits.... unfathomable) but. ppl recognize his voice
and after a few seconds he notices how quiet it's gotten all of a sudden n everyones looking at him like "oh shit thats the admin" and honestly his heart breaks. visibly
but
then someone starts singing, so quiet it takes a moment for him to hear over the sound of an encroaching panic attack (oh god he has airpods in), but when he looks over theyre smiling - theyre smiling at hiM???? AND IT DOESNT EVEN LOOK MEAN??- and doing this very simple step, that he catches onto just as easily as he matches their singing (its a fairly common little tune n dance)
theyre like standing like a good few meters away but as they take turns with lines in the song they slowly inch closer
and he thinks hes starting to recognize the dance that the steps theyre doing is from but at the part in the song thats coming up ur supposed to allemande left and even tho theyre like, less than a meter away now literally no one has really wanted to get close to him, let alone actually touch him, so hes totally expecting them to be like 'psych' and humiliate him in front of the entire crowd-
BUT THEN THEY ACTUALLY GO FOR IT???
he completes the step without even thinking about it n continues onto the next in this state of dull bewilderment where there is but one braincell active in his head and it is just going, in a very tiny voice, "danser?"
- when they linked arms the person briefly seemed surprised that he didn't like, chew their arm off or anything (he had. kind of snapped at people a few times during the past few weeks), but then their shock turned into a wide smile and they sort of- nodded? at someone over his shoulder like 'come and join us, it doesn't look like he's going to kill me after all you guys can put the eulogy writing on hold'
what rly makes his heart do the confused and hopeful conga is that this isnt even anyone romeo knows, its a total stranger. or- like- he saw them while he was pretending to be jesse he just didnt care to get to know them beyond ‘name and gimmick’- its not even someone who has any reason to think he'd be cool to befriend its literally jsut someone taking a chance on him (tkae a chance take a chance take a chance take a cha)
afterwards hes like "i should thank jesse for putting you up to that, it was fun" and theyre like "what? jesse didn't "put me up to" anything, dude, you just looked super choked. * something something surfer lingo who would i be if i just left someone to feel bad when they could be having fun dancing you know?*"

Have You Heard? - Part 7
Genre: Office!AU
Pairing: Shownu x You
By Admin B
Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Tumblr media
You had to make sure you’d heard him correctly.
“I -- I’m sorry, what did you -- you said ‘go on a date’?” you asked, hoping it wasn’t obvious just how breathlessly anxious you were.
His eyes crinkled as he grinned, and you thought you’d been breathless just a few seconds ago. But you were truly breathless now because you know how his eye-crinkling smile gets to you.
“A... a date,” you repeated on a sigh. “With me.”
He nodded, and you almost fainted.
“Like... a date date. A romantic date,” you continued.
He nodded again.
And then, just because you were a little skeptical this was all a dream and you would wake up to messages from Shownu telling you there was no possible way you could even be friends anymore because your drunken behavior had made things too awkward, you asked, “...Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure,” he chuckled as he squeezed your fingers. “I just need to know if you are.”
Your breath caught in your throat, but you managed to choke out, “Well, yes.”
But almost immediately, you added, “But also no.”
Shownu’s eyebrows shot halfway up his forehead. “No --” he began in a confused tone.
“I didn’t tell you about my feelings before because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship,” you explained. “Obviously, that doesn’t matter now, but I also didn’t tell you because... we’re co-workers.”
Shownu dipped his head in a tiny nod, but he still looked a bit puzzled. “Is there a rule against dating in the office?”
Oh, god, you were going to sound like a complete and total nerd weirdo.
“Well... no, not exactly, but I kind of have my own personal rule about dating a co-worker? I just don’t think it’s a good idea because what if you break up and it’s super awkward or what if one of you gets promoted and then people will think you’ll give your significant other special treatment -- I mean, it just makes things a lot easier if you... don’t date somebody you work with.”
Shownu studied you for a few moments before he spoke, still holding your hands gently. “So, you like me, but... you don’t want to date me?”
“No, I do want to date you,” you assured him, a slight tone of desperation in your voice. “It’s just -- I don’t know. I like to keep my work life and my personal life separate, and if I see you every day at work and then see you at dinner on a date, it’ll just be -- I don’t know, ‘confusing’ isn’t the right word, but it is.”
The look of anxious perplexity on Shownu’s face softened, and he let go of one of your hands, reaching up to tuck some hair behind your ear. His thumb gently traced over your cheekbone, and it honestly took everything in you not to lean over and kiss him.
“I understand,” he told you. “It would be weird and difficult.”
“I just don’t want all of our other co-workers to look at us and think only about the fact we’re dating. I don’t want to be known as the girl who snatched up the most eligible bachelor in the office. I want to be known for actual work-related things.”
A soft chuckle left Shownu’s lips at the ‘most eligible bachelor’ thing, and he let his fingers play with a lock of your hair.
“We don’t have to tell anyone,” he offered. “Or even talk about it at work. We can act like we always have.”
“...Are you sure?” you asked hesitantly, your breath catching in your throat. But you figured that was because Shownu was still playing with your hair, and it was making your heart race.
“Yeah,” he answered with a tiny smile. “I don’t mind either way.”
You furrowed your brow softly, tilting your head as you gazed at him quizzically. “You’re really this laidback?” you asked.
He nodded, his tiny smile growing.
“Are you sure that you’re real?”
Shownu broke into a soft laugh, and you had to physically stop yourself from squealing because it was so cute.
“Do you want to wait until the weekend for our date?” he asked, finally letting his hand fall from your hair.
Okay, on one hand, you did. It would be a lot easier to compartmentalize if you went out on a day you hadn’t just seen him at work.
But... on the other hand, you honestly weren’t sure if you could wait that long.
“How about... tonight?” you asked a bit awkwardly.
“Tonight?” Shownu’s forehead wrinkled, his eyebrows raising in slight surprise.
“I understand if it’s too short notice, but... I would really, really like to make up for what happened on Friday night. Replace that memory with a new one.”
“Oh,” Shownu chuckled, understanding. “Yes, I can do tonight. Should I come and pick you up straight after work?”
You took a deep breath before answering, wanting to give yourself time to decide if you were absolutely, positively, 100% certain you wanted to do this.
Because what if you did break up? Or what if you got promoted and became his manager? Or what if Simone or Tracy or Riley or Charlie saw the two of you out and began gossiping about it the next day at work?
But as you took a deep breath, you also looked into Shownu’s eyes. His kind, warm, piercing eyes. You looked at his face. His handsome, gorgeous, perfect face.
And you realized there was no decision to make. You’d already made it, not even a millisecond after he told you he liked you, too.
You nodded, the corners of your lips pulling into a smile as your heart fluttered around in your chest.
“All right,” Shownu grinned, squeezing your fingers once more before pushing himself off the couch. He pulled you up to stand next to him, and for a split second, you really thought he would kiss you.
Or maybe you just wanted him to even though you were in your pajamas and hadn’t brushed your teeth and your hair was probably still a mess.
But he simply held onto your hand as he began to make his way back to your front door.
“I need to get back to the office,” he said, and you suddenly felt really dumb for not realizing that. It was a Monday, and he’d told you earlier he’d come on his lunch break. Unfortunately, lunch breaks don’t last forever!
“And I... need to get back to bed,” you said with a soft laugh.
Once you’d opened the door, Shownu turned to face you, his eyes crinkling as he smiled down at you. “I’m just glad you’re okay,” he murmured. “When I passed by your desk this morning and you weren’t there, I imagined you all pale and sweaty and shivering and throwing up and --
“Wow, let’s not,” you interrupted. “Please -- please don’t imagine me like that.”
He nodded before gently dropping your hands, reaching up and cradling your face gingerly, as if he were afraid he would break you. It was dizzying and ridiculously sweet at the same time.
And then he stepped closer. He leaned in and placed his lips on your forehead, his kiss whisper-soft.
“I’ll see you later,” he murmured when he pulled back.
Your forehead was still tingling as you gazed up at him dreamily, and all you could do was nod in response.
You kept your gaze on him as he stepped away, making his way down the walkway and heading out to the sidewalk. And when you could no longer see him, you let out a very deep sigh, leaning back against your doorway so you wouldn’t just melt into a puddle right then and there.
...Had that really just happened?
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that you were having trouble believing Shownu had actually shown up at your door this afternoon, had actually confessed his own feelings, had actually asked you out, and had actually told you he was coming to pick you up after work... you still got ready.
You got ready for a date you weren’t entirely sure was even happening.
But... better safe than sorry, right? It would be just a little less embarrassing to be all dressed up with nowhere to go than to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off while Shownu waited for you with a growling stomach.
Just after you put the finishing touches on your makeup, there was yet another knock on your door.
Except, this time, you didn’t let out a mortifying choke-gasp hybrid when you saw Shownu standing there. Although you did almost sigh with relief because you were more than glad the date wasn’t just a figment of your imagination.
“Yes, it’s really me,” you greeted, smiling bashfully. “I promise.”
When he last saw you, you’d been fresh out of bed - no makeup, pajamas, bedhead... The Works.
But now you were dressed in date-appropriate clothing, your hair and makeup done to the best of your ability.
If you could compare the You from earlier to the You right now side-by-side, it would definitely win a competition for most drastic Before and After.
“You looked beautiful then, you look beautiful now,” he told you shyly, adorably avoiding your gaze with the cutest, sweetest smile on his full lips.
And you were already excited to kiss those lips at the end of the night.
“Well, thank you,” you murmured as you tucked some hair behind your ear.
Shownu ushered you out, waiting for you to lock your door behind you before walking you out to his car.
Once the two of you were safely inside, Shownu turned over the engine and began to carefully back out of your driveway. His moved his arm so he could rest his hand on the back of your headrest, expertly guiding the steering wheel with his other hand and expertly making your heart flutter.
There was just something about a guy backing up a car with one hand. Strange but true.
“I hope you like burgers and fries,” he announced after putting the car in drive and heading off to your destination.
“Burgers and fries,” you nodded. “As long as there are milkshakes to go along with them.”
“I was hoping you’d say that,” he grinned. “Actually, this place is known more for their ice cream. They just sell burgers and fries on the side.”
“Obviously, they know what’s more important in life.”
“Exactly,” Shownu chuckled.
As he drove along to this ice cream place which sold burgers and fries on the side, you couldn’t help but be reminded of that one elevator ride the two of you had taken. You know, the one down to the cafe at work at the end of his first week.
You were reminded of that because both of you spent most of the car ride in silence. You asked how he was doing, asked what he’d done over the weekend, chatted a little about ice cream preferences, but for the most part - nothing.
It was wonderful.
Because it wasn’t an awkward silence. It was comfortable, probably because the two of you were already friends, but also maybe because both of you didn’t mind the quiet. Neither of you felt like silences had to be filled with mindless prattle.
And, to be honest, you would probably just end up talking about work most of the time, and that was not going to happen on this date - or any date.
When you arrived at the restaurant, you were somewhat surprised to see it looked like one of those old-fashioned diners from a 50′s television show. There was a lot of chrome and neon and checkerboard floors - even a jukebox.
It was somehow fitting for Shownu to take you to a place like this because he also seemed like he had walked out of a 50′s television show. Of course, he wasn’t sexist like most men used to be back then, but he just had a sort of wholesome air about him. He was nice and kind and gentle and he laughed at some of the lamest things like an old grandpa wearing a cardigan would. You would say he was Boy Next Door type, but he was really more of a Dad Next Door. But a single dad with no kids, so it wasn’t weird for you to date him.
But anyway.
The two of you slid into a booth, the seats covered in glittery, red nylon, and a waitress wearing a pink uniform came almost immediately to take your order.
After glancing over the menu, you started with a cherry soda, Shownu holding up two fingers to indicate he wanted one, as well.
“How did you hear about this place?” you asked after she jotted down your order and sauntered back toward the kitchen. “I had no idea it existed!”
Shownu’s cheeks tinged a bit pink before he even answered you. “I just... really like food. I’m always looking for someplace new to eat, and I just figured you might like it here.”
“Well, they don’t serve alcohol, so we’re already off on a better foot.”
Shownu let out a hearty laugh, reaching across the table and taking one of your hands.
And the better foot continued because, if you could make Shownu laugh like that, you were obviously doing something right.
Tumblr media
As far as first dates went... this one was pretty perfect.
No, not just pretty perfect.
It was perfect. Plain and simple.
You and Shownu each had your own burger, but you shared a large, heaping serving of fries. You enjoyed a chocolate milkshake (even pouring some of your cherry soda into it) while Shownu finished off a vanilla-strawberry.
He was also very relieved when you dipped one of the french fries into your shake, saying it would have been a dealbreaker if you hadn’t.
Just before Shownu had spooned out the last bites of his shake, you noticed some had dripped off his spoon and landed on his chin. You stared at it for a second before ignoring your pounding heart and leaning over to wipe it off with your napkin.
The smile on Shownu’s lips when you sat back against your seat was the shiest, cutest, sweetest thing you’d ever seen, and you were fairly sure your heart was going to burst out of your chest.
After Shownu had taken care of the check, he suggested going for a walk. The diner was located near a fairly scenic park, and since the sun hadn’t quite set yet, you agreed.
The two of you walked for almost an hour, talking about whatever came to mind. Since the only times you’d had to get to know each other up until now were the times you’d eaten lunch together at work, you took the opportunity to delve a little deeper.
You asked about his family, about his life goals, his hopes and dreams - and he asked the same about you.
The second he told you he was looking for someone to settle down with - a serious relationship and not just someone to have a good time with - you had to quell your imagination. You had to tell yourself not to jump to conclusions (although you did briefly think about what kind of wedding the two of you would have - but only briefly).
It got chillier as the night grew darker, and you ended up heavily hinting that you wished you’d brought a jacket. Apparently, just hugging yourself and shivering lightly wasn’t enough to prompt Shownu to give you the one he was wearing, but you shouldn’t have been surprised.
“Oh, here, take mine,” he said finally, sliding his arms out of the sleeves and moving to rest it over your shoulders.
He then took that opportunity to slip his hand into yours, linking your fingers together.
You walked for quite a while after that, circling the park more than a few times. The night was beautiful, and the company was exceedingly pleasant, so why not?
But when he finally did take you home, he walked you to your door. He turned to face you. He asked if you had a good time, and you nodded with a dreamy smile. He insisted you keep his jacket and give it to him the next time you went out on a date, a very clever way of asking you out again, you thought.
And then... he kissed you.
The warmest goodnight kiss you’d ever received.
The complete opposite of the kiss you’d sloppily laid on him just three nights ago.
But, to be honest... you had completely forgotten about that kiss. Everything about this night had somehow wiped everything about that night clean.
Well. Except when Shownu pulled away a couple of inches and whispered, “You kiss much better when you’re sober.”

I am a total nerd of Team Miror B. and have been attempting to return to a Miror centric blog with tons of headcanon tacked on to the fabulous display. Seeing this blog and all its love for Orre makes me desire to come forward and ask: What are some of your major headcanons regarding Team Miror B? Their dynamics? Their motives? Their true goals? Their personalities? Tell me all! I want to know!
Hmmm well usually I like to make headcanons that stem off of what could be seen in the game. In Colosseum, Trudly and Folly are only half of Miror B’s original posse. Ferma and Reath was the other half, but they are absent in Pokemon XD for some reason. Needless to say, Team Miror B was far more powerful in Colosseum than in XD, but that was because they were still serving under Cipher.
In Colosseum, Miror B. is an enthusiastic overseer who’s hubris was always his weakness. Trudly and Folly are loyal members of his posse who have stuck with him for years after Colosseum, but at the cost of becoming a nomadic tribe of three for an unknown period of time. The two were last seen hiding out in the Mayor’s office in Phenac City after escaping Pyrite Town’s jail, while Miror B. is last seen in the Deep Colosseum, hiding behind knockout challenges with the rest of the Cipher Admins. Even more obscure than them however, Reath and Ferma were left hiding out in Miror B’s old hideout in Pyrite Cave, driving out the optional boss fight with Mirakle B too.
At some point Miror B. must have reunited himself with Trudly and Folly after escaping to the surface, or Trudly and Folly must have searched and found Miror B. themselves. Given Miror B.’s style of dancing alone, it’s a likely possibility that they found him first before or after the Under was sealed. We don’t know where Reath or Ferma could have gone, but neither do we know about the rest of the admins. We only know that Evice and Nascour were likely sent to a prison as stated by an NPC in XD.
In XD it can be seen that Miror B. tends to do his own thing like a loose cannon. More often than not, Trudly and Folly struggle to keep up with him and his antics, so much so that they even made the Miror B. Radar to track his whereabouts and be warned when he surfaces again. But when they immediately lost the radar, they had to work double time to keep up with the agile boss.
Despite their loyalty though, it would seem Folly was starting to see the folly of their boss’s dream at some point during their escapades in XD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trudley stays loyal to Miror B.’s dream, but Folly seems to make sense of the futility of actually attempting to own all the Pokemon in the world and worries about his own future if he continues following Miror B.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite this, he continues to remain loyal to Miror B. down to the end and beyond once the last Shadow Pokemon has been snagged. Folly is obviously the more reasonable of the group while Trudly isn’t as easily phased by such logic.
With every Pokemon they managed to get, they seem to be only capable of nabbing the Shadow Pokemon Michael failed to snag initially. Though it could be attributed that Miror B’s Jumpluff, Shiftry, and Non-Shadow Sudowoodo were caught Orre’s improved Wild environments in XD, the Pokespots.
One hilarious detail around Miror B, he geniunely believes his dance will bring around all the Pokemon
Tumblr media
I don’t have a screen, but if you encounter Miror B. at the Oasis Pokespot, Trudley or Folly will tell you not to disturb Miror B. as he dances to summon Wild Pokemon to his presence. You will also get to know that they occasionally have to eat some of the Poke Snacks people leave at the spots because they get so hungry and are usually low on money.
Listen, if you have ever watched the Pokemon Anime as I have back when I used to like it (long time ago), you can easily compare the Team Rocket trio to Team Miror B. here. Whatever menace they were when they premiered is long gone, and they are seen more as those dastardly Kid’s TV show villains you can’t help but love and relate to on some level. They travel together, one of them is the mascot and brains of the group most of the time, they struggle together and clumsily lose most of their progress in whatever mission they have but they are still close as the three musketeers. Even in failure they remain together in each other’s support. You can definitely compare Team Miror B to the anime’s Team Rocket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miror B. may have only wanted to dance to an audience all this time. He is ironically the most useful character in XD for catching what Michael fails to Snag the first time. Odd that he would be able to get these Shadow Pokemon so easily, but given how the Purify Chamber works with upbeat tempos and a rhythm with Pokemon in their own “party” of sorts surrounding a Shadow Pokemon affecting them with pleasant feelings to open their heart, it could be theorized that Miror B’s own music and dancing was what attracted these feral Shadow Pokemon to him in the first place. Miror B’s dancing and music might have emulated what the Purify Chamber provided on some level, But how could they know that the Pokemon they were catching were Shadow Pokemon in the first place? Neither Miror B, nor his posse, have an Aura Reader or some girl with clairvoyant sight. To them, Miror B’s dancing really did bring Wild Pokemon to their fold unbeknownst to what they were actually catching.
Though they probably did realize at some point that they were catching runaway Shadow Pokemon. Miror B and Folly raided the Cipher Key Lair to obtain the last authentic Shadow Pokemon, Dragonite, knowing full well what it was. And took the time to celebrate on Gateon Port’s lighthouse for their powerful catch from the remnants of the syndicate they used to work for. They celebrate their small victories together even though their losses greatly outnumbered their gains.
That is what I think of these three. Miror B. is ambitious and his dreams are as big as his afro. Trudley is loyal, so is Folly but he can’t not think about the repercussions of the future. Though as of where he last saw them, they seem content staying at the Krabby Club.

'I like the way MDMA gives you a deep sense of connection to your friends'
I'm no fiend. Most nights I'd rather share a bottle of wine with some friends than stay up till 6am getting sweaty and boggle-eyed on a bender. But while I associate alcohol with talking about past experiences, I associate drugs with making new ones. Party drugs can often make a stranger feel like a confidant; a simple trip to a town centre feel like an Enid Blyton escapade.
I probably take class-A party drugs such as MDMA or cocaine once a fortnight, and have done since I was 16 (I'm 27 now). I like the way cocaine gives you a new lease of life, like a mushroom in Super Mario, to carry on with a night out. I like the way MDMA softens the edges of reality and gives you a deep sense of connection to your friends that you can never get when you meet them for dinner and they moan about their jobs. I like how when you're coming down from a pill another person's touch has a comforting, almost electric capacity. If you're suffering from exhaustion, anxiety or stress, recreational drugs can give you a bit of a leg-up.
Drugs can also be a total pain. Ecstasy can make you feel like you're floating in a cloud, but just as often it's an admin nightmare: you come up at different times from your friends; only half the people in a group remembered to get sorted and there's endless hassle at a party trying to get more. Even when you're having a great time, there's a self-doubting internal monologue running through the whole process: Have I done enough? Am I coming up? Do I look like a prick?
I would just like to have that conversation about drugs being sometimes brilliant and occasionally annoying. Yet I feel like there is no one who is willing to talk about drugs in those terms.
When children ask their parents where babies come from, they get a white lie – a stork delivers them, you find them in a cabbage patch, you order them from Ocado. That's the closest thing I can think of to explain the difference between the perception and the reality of drug use by young people in the UK. There is a societal stork myth that is propagated by the media and popular culture to hide a basic reality. Even users themselves are entirely unwilling to talk about drug-taking honestly. Everything in the drugs world tries to stifle this conversation. Take nightclubs. It doesn't take a genius to work out that staying up till 6am listening to dance music at an ear-splitting volume would not only be unenjoyable without some kind of mind-altering stimulant, but a painful test of endurance. Most people in big nightclubs are on drugs. The clubs know that: that's why they charge so much for entry and, often, for bottles of water. They know that not many people will be buying drinks. Most of them have in-house dealers too, so they can sort out their DJs. Bigger DJs put requests for drugs on their rider. "We just put it on expenses as 'fruit and flowers'," a promoter at a major nightclub told me this year. But there's still a stork charade, with the venue covered in posters promising to eject drug users and bouncers searching punters – but not too thoroughly. The pretence is that this could all be above board.
I suppose the reason for this false picture of drug-taking is that most people don't take drugs. The statistics show that only a small fraction of the UK population are regular drugs users, and a smaller fraction still do anything harder than weed. But drug use is not spread evenly across the country, nor across age groups. In my demographic – under 30, living in London, job in the creative industries, disposable income – almost everyone is a recreational drugs user.
Where I grew up in south London, it was pretty uncommon to find someone who didn't at least smoke weed. The children of more middle-class parents were taking cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine and mephedrone almost every weekend. These were not reprobates ruining their lives: they were intelligent, bright people who got three As at A-level and went to good universities.
We would go to raves in places such as Camberwell and Hackney Wick, to warehouse venues where almost no one was over 18. White powders flowed as freely as the Fanta Fruit Twist and Malibu we were drinking. Festivals played a big part, too. Parents, even quite strict ones who wouldn't dream of letting their kids out past midnight, were happy to send their kids to music festivals, perhaps because of the reverent music-focused coverage in the media.
If you go to somewhere like Reading or Benicàssim, almost everyone is under 20. Half of them barely leave the campsite. Festivals are drugs playgrounds where teenagers experiment with copious amounts of uppers in presumably quite dangerous combinations. Some of the best moments of my life took place going to festivals as a teenager. I remember one muddy year at Glastonbury, racing down the hill arm-in-arm with a bunch of people, all off our faces on MDMA, feeling happier than I had ever felt. Another year, I remember taking mephedrone with a girl I fancied during Blur's headline set, both weeping with joy at a band we'd grown up with our whole lives.
Again, everyone knows this; no one thinks the thousands who watch the sunrise at the stone circle in Glastonbury every year are just on a high from seeing Mumford and Sons. But the festivals keep up the pretence that they are drug-free zones. Even a recent BBC3 show, Festivals, Sex and Suspicious Parents, which was supposed to show parents what their kids really got up to at festivals, ignored the fact that as the cameras panned around the festival, many revellers were plainly as high as a kite, their jaws swinging back and forth like pendulums, a side-effect of taking ecstasy. The voiceover just kept talking about people being "drunk".
I am also part of the first generation of people whose parents are likely to have been drug users. Of course, some adults would be outraged, like the parents on BBC3, to see what their kids got up to. But many more knew only too well – plenty of people I know would smoke weed or share dealers with their parents. In some families drug use had less stigma than smoking.
I thought all this was normal, but at university I met, for the first time, young people who totally abstained from drugs. They mostly came from outside major cities, or outside the UK, and many shivered in horror when they saw the rest of us dabbing our gums with mysterious white powders. I thought there would be a rift in social lives, an us-and-them situation, but it was around that time that mephedrone happened. Known by literally no young person ever as "meow meow", mephedrone was a legal high that changed attitudes towards drug-taking. Polite do-right kids who would never dream of taking illegal drugs were happy to chow down on bombs (self-made wontons of mephedrone powder wrapped in Rizla) like they were no more risqué than chocolate liqueurs.
Mephedrone was incredibly cheap – about a tenner a gram – and incredibly available. You could order it with next-day delivery to your university PO box. Mephedrone was a drugs phenomenon of which I have never seen the likes before or since. Everyone started doing it. I remember visiting a friend at Leeds University during this period. We went to a club and the queue for the men's bogs was at least 70 people long. When I finally got inside the place stunk of mephedrone, you could hear everyone loudly sniffing.
On nights out during this time, everyone would be raging – making out with one another, dancing with total abandon. But the comedowns were immediate and severe, far worse than ecstasy. By 4am people would be lying on the floor sharing the most intimate and personal shames and secrets, as if the drug was somehow compelling them to be honest. Some people called it a truth serum. Friendships were forged in the hot irons of that emotional exposition, as were the most horrendous hangovers.
Mephedrone was banned within two years of it taking off. People talk a lot about one legal high being banned only for another to take its place, but the real legacy of mephedrone was to numb the stigma of harder drugs. By the time I left university, many of the drug abstainers who had tried mephedrone became relaxed about most illegal drugs, too.
Ecstasy and mephedrone make it pretty hard to get much done in the days after taking them. You can't regularly use them and be a successful, functioning adult, so they become a rarer treat once you leave student life. In their 20s most people are overworked: they have second jobs and work incredibly long hours. If they're going to go out on a Friday night they need a pick-me-up. And that is why cocaine remains the young professional's drug of choice.
I see cocaine usage almost every weekend wherever I go: clubs, pubs, people's houses, dinner parties. At fancy celebrity parties, the sort you see on Mail Online, cocaine is so prevalent that it's almost boring. Everyone does it – butter-wouldn't-melt TV presenters, wholesome pop stars adored by your mum, people who would immediately lose their job if anyone found out. Those tabloid stings where they catch someone doing cocaine are kind of hilarious in that respect. If you followed any celebrity around with a secret camera on a Friday night you'd be almost guaranteed to find them doing coke. But cocaine users are like hipsters in the way they will vehemently deny they are one, and cast aspersions on others. "It was just full of self-aggrandising wankers doing coke and talking about themselves," someone will say about a party where they did cocaine and talked about themselves. Most of my friends are cocaine users, but I've never heard them say one nice thing about cocaine.
No doubt some people will have read this piece and think that I am just a monstrous twat, that this has all been little more than infantile boasting in a vain attempt to try to sound cool. But that, too, is part of the cover-up, that any open discussion of using drugs or enjoying them is necessarily a boast. We can talk about great food, great films, great sex, but if we talk about great drugs we immediately sound like we're engaging in some teenage bravado. That's why the biggest taboo surrounding drugs today isn't taking drugs, but saying that they're fun.
I'm not saying that people are lying about the negative effects. I have, of course, seen lives ruined by drugs. Rarely has this been because of an overdose or because someone has ruined themselves financially because of addiction (although I am only 27 – that may yet come). Far more often I have just seen people become dulled through regular drug use: their youthful spark extinguished by a never-ceasing quest to get on it; brains frazzled by overheated synapses. There are friends I want to slap every time I see them doing another line, but I can't because that would be hypocritical.
I also appreciate that's it's easy to be blasé about drug use when you're a well-adjusted middle-class white guy who has never been stopped by the police and has a distant non-social relationship with their drug dealer. For many people, drugs aren't something they can dip in and out of and separate from their lives. People entangled in the economic and legal realities of drugs – dealers, those convicted of possession, addicts – don't have the luxury of my relaxed attitude.
But until we stop pretending that getting high is inherently bad – that drugs can never be brilliant, can never enhance human experience for the better – how can we properly deal with people whose lives have been made worse by drugs? At some point, kids grow up and learn the facts of life. I think it's time we all had the talk.

Like Oh 2.0 - We Under the Moonlight
Previous Chapter: #BESTLEADERJBDAY Word Count: 5,240 Summary: Serena and Melanie attends GOT7′s third fan-meeting tour and afterwards have their own secret date with Mark and Jaebeom, respectively. Furthermore, both couples admit to more of their feelings and determine where they are in their relationships.
Like Oh 2.0 masterlist
the second to last chapter! it’s here. it’s finally here after some time. sorry for like going MIA, but yeah. thought i couldn’t leave y’all hanging like that and wanted to make sure this story got finished up here before the year ends. so yeah, just one more chapter which is the epilogue. other than that, thanks for sticking by this story if anyone did. if not, then it’s all good. so yeah, happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~
A few weeks later Serena and Melanie attended GOT7's FLIGHT LOG: TURBULENCE FANMEET TOUR in Los Angeles with Jasmine and Katherine. The sisters flew in the day before the concert to catch up with their limited time. Melanie and Serena informed Katherine and Jasmine about their relationship with the idols and going into further details. Jasmine knew something was bound to happen between their friends and the idols while Katherine still found it shocking that the two ended up with the other's bias. This time around though Serena and Melanie didn't have Hi-Touch and so left right after the event to hang out with Jasmine and Katherine some more. Melanie and Serena had messaged Jaebeom and Mark, respectively, about it. The boys weren't thrilled about it, but it was something they couldn't do anything about it. Anyways, Melanie and Serena didn't return to Seoul until early Wednesday.
A week later the sisters attended GOT7's 3RD FAN MEETING titled, We Under the Moonlight. Because the seats were all assigned, Melanie and Serena didn't arrive until a little after five because they wanted to get some resting done before the event took place. Although they weren't sitting next to each other they were within the same section area as they sat on the ends of section B in the first row. Both women were slightly nervous as they still felt guilty for being there. They weren't officially part of the fan-club, but they still felt excited in seeing GOT7 performing at their very first fan-club concert in Seoul and practically seeing everything that Korean IGOT7s get to see unlike other places outside South Korea.
When the event started it went by in such a blur with so many things happening and emotions going high that Melanie and Serena were surprised it ended so fast. The sisters found GOT7 cute in their boy scout outfits, but also found it so weird as they were practically grown men in the said outfits. Another moment of theirs that the two enjoyed was when GOT7 was doing a drama of sort where everyone acted out a role except for Mark until Jackson near the end gave him a role. Honestly, it was such a mess, but still fun as everyone was enjoying themselves. Another event was GOT7 having an archery battle while wearing casual clothing. Everyone hit a seven while BamBam got one. Jinyoung had difficulties fitting the arrow, but Jaebeom helped him as he later scored an eight while Mark went next and scored a nine.
There was even a VCR moment of the boys, minus Jackson and Mark who were the emcees as the other five were in the water playing games in the pool which of course cause a majority of the fans to scream loudly at the prospect of the idols being all wet. The group of seven played a sort of Marco Polo with small plastic balls and danced to their own songs in the water in a random play dance with two teams. One was Yugyeom and BamBam and the other was Jaebeom, Youngjae, and Jinyoung. The maknae line won and so the other team got the plastic balls thrown at them by the winners because of Jackson's scoring. All Serena and Melanie could noticed was that Youngjae was laughing throughout the whole video which caught their attention and made them laugh just as much.
Earlier they played games where they wore sashes so they could earn badges from winning in the games. One was 'Guess the Song' where the boys had to figured out the titles of their songs that played for a few seconds. They also played the number game where they had to shout out numbers in order without two people saying the same one. The quiz game later wasn't as bad, but it was fun seeing their answers for a lot of the questions. Later on they had another segment of games where Youngjae was still the MC for this game round, too. The other six were split into two teams. One group consisted of Mark, Jinyoung, and BamBam called 'Young and Rich' while the other team consisted of Jaebeom, Jackson, and Yugyeom called 'Namja Swag'. The sisters didn't comprehend the names, but knew it was just like them to name themselves that way.
Melanie and Serena laughed at their little antics due to them spinning around elephant style and running towards the bar that held rice cakes hung by strings. It was Yugyeom versus Mark, Jinyoung versus Jackson, and Jabeom versus BamBam. It was a total mess causing all the fans to laugh and watch in excitment. Mark took awhile to bite one as he spun around too much and even ripped a string from the bar. The most chaotic was Jaebeom. He somehow broke the bars apart causing all the rice cakes to fall to the ground. Team Namja Swag were ahead, but because of that incident it caused Young and Rich to catch up and winning in the end. Of course with the help by Jinyoung who held Jaebeom back several times. Mark even picked up a stray rice cake, ate it, and shared it with his teammates before he and Jaebeom cleaned up the rest and tossed it to the side.
After that GOT7 dressed in sevent different types of bird onesies which the sisters and the fans found endearing and had a good laugh. It was due to the boys looking way super adorable as the onesies represented their fan-club of baby birds. Mark was a rooster, Jaebeom was a falcon, Jackson was a parrot, Jinyoung was a blue jay, Youngjae was a duck, BamBam was an eagle, and Yugyeom was a chick. Serena and Melanie found it touching and were happy and proud to be a part of the boys' fandom. Also Jaebeom became super hyper during this part and even later on. May be that caused the others to be like so, too. Later Magnetic came on and the boys perform the song while being in their onesies and they were acting all bird like. It was really a cute and fun sight to see.
GOT7 performed many of their songs throughout the fan meet as well from their titled tracks to their other songs such as Hey, If, Skyway, Let Me, and I Like You. To end the fan meeting GOT7 ended it with their final song of Before the Full Moon Rises. They came out on a bus-like movable stage with several staff members maneuvering it around the main floor from one end to the other with all the confetti flying around them. Once they reached the stage did they bid goodbyes and bowed in thanks for their fans' continual love and support. Before going off the stage they had some last minute fun with Mark doing his flips and Jaebeom doing his b-boy moves. Mark was the first to leave with Jaebeom following after. Youngjae was the last one to leave and wished everyone a happy new year.
~~~~~~~
After the event the sisters had split up after taking pictures with one for memories. Both Mark and Jaebeom had messaged their girlfriends to meet them at their planned location so they could hang out and for the two to not leave again so soon like last time. Serena went to Shindong's DraQura PC Castle as Mark wanted to play some online games with her here since they were in the area. As for Melanie she and Jaebeom were going to enjoy their time at Lotte World gain, but this time it was just gonna be the two of them for their third date. In the mean time both girls entered the area to do their thing before the boys actually arrived.
~~~~~~~
Serena was playing a round of Overwatch as Mark had gotten her addicted to the game when he appeared beside her as she had messaged the idol about where she was seated within the PC bang. "Hey there." He whispered while softly pecking her on the cheek and taking the empty stall next to her. "Hi." Serena absentmindedly responded while still focusing on the game before her. Mark watched her play before her character died and she turned her attention onto him and noticed his get-up. "Still wanna stay and play?" She asked unsure as Mark took her hand and gave it a light squeeze. "Yeah, it's fine. Everyone's too busy to notice us." "Okay."
The two focused on their own computers to play a game of Overwatch, but Serena grew bored of the game and went to play another PC game while Mark continued to play Overwatch. Mark was still into the game and Serena had had enough of playing computer games that she instead moved her chair to watch Mark play instead. She dozed off some time later with her chin placed onto her palm which was planted on top of her lap. Mark didn't take notice of her sleeping figure as he was still focused on playing the game until he felt a heavy bumped against his shoulder and he looked over to see Serena had fallen asleep.
Mark exited his game before lightly tapping Serena on the nose to wake her. He giggled when Serena stirred, but didn't awake by his action. He shook her shoulder softly which got her to actually wake up. "I'm sorry that I fell asleep." She apologized to the idol as he smiled and shook his head. "It's okay. It's already been a good few hours, but why didn't you tell me you were sleepy?" He brushed a few strands of her hair out of her face and behind her ear. "You were having fun and I didn't want to disturb you since I'm sure you don't get a lot of off time to enjoy some leisure time." Serena told him as she rubbed the sleepiness away from her eyes.
Mark appreciated her thoughtfulness and decided that he had had enough of playing online games "Thanks, Serena, but don't worry. I get enough time to play games. Let's get you home. It's kinda late." Serena scoffed as she stood up followed by Mark. "It was already late to begin with, Mark." The idol laughed as he laced his fingers with hers as he led them out of DraQura. "How else are we gonna have our dates if they're not late at night, Serena?" He asked in a teasing manner once they were walking to the nearest bus station to head back to Cheongdam, but it caused Serena to eyed the idol weirdly. "What date? This wasn't a date, Mark."
"It's not the best first date, but it was a date." Mark informed as Serena countered. "That's just hanging out. A date is, well, it's a..." She trailed off as Mark egged her on to continue. "Is what? What's a date, Serena?" "I don't know. Shut up." She told him a bit flustered as Mark laughed. "You're so cute." "I'm not cute." "To me you are." "Well, you're a butt-head." "Yeah, that's true, but I'm your cute butt-head." "I didn't even call you cute." "Yeah, but you didn't deny that I wasn't yours either just now." Serena was going to counter, but knew that he was right and so she closed her mouth with the idol still chuckling beside her.
The pair arrived back in Cheongdam where Serena invited Mark inside her smaller apartment as the idol still didn't want to go back home or depart from the female. The only reason Serena was at 503 was because her laptop was over here and her other belongings which she was still working on the pet center's website to update everything. Mark used her bathroom first while she cleaned up the place and changed out of her heavy clothes and into something light. She used the bathroom after and told Mark to make himself comfortable. Serena didn't expect that he actually would as she found him asleep on her mattress a moment later.
Serena watched Mark sleep while wondering why he would sleep here when he could be sleeping at his dorm before covering him with a blanket and went downstairs to work on her work's website without disturbing the idol. Some time later Serena fell asleep at her computer and Mark awoke a few minutes later. He made his way downstairs to check on her when he figured that Serena didn't want to wake him and noticed that she had indeed fallen asleep. Mark smiled at the sight as he closed her laptop before maneuvering her body into his arms to carefully carry her up the narrow stairway to placed the sleeping female onto her bed.
Once Mark got Serena settled in did she slowly opened her eyes to look at him. "Are you going home now?" She asked softly as Mark was startled by her question as he believed that she was still asleep. "Do you want me to stay?" "I mean you don't have to go if you're still tired, Mark." Serena was about to sit up when Mark prevented her from doing so and pushed her gently back down. "Are you implying for me to spend the night, Serena?" He teased as Serena went to smack him, but Mark avoided the attack with a laugh and took a hold of her hand with his instead. "I'm just teasing. Sheesh, you really need to relax."
"You can go and see yourself to the door." Serena dismissed as she turned away from the male, but Mark laughed as he again prevented her from doing so and turned her back to facing him again while he lied down next to her comfortably. "I'm just messing with you, my tsundere baby girl. Don't be like that." Serena stared at him with widened eyes upon hearing the pet name. "Did you call me 'baby girl', Mark?" "I did." He answered like it was a normal thing between them. "I was gonna go with 'home girl' or even 'babe', but you seem like a 'baby girl' to me now." He smiled, but noticed her blank expression. "Do you not like it?"
"It's unexpected." Serena admitted before eyeing him. "You also called me tsundere." Mark laughed. "Melanie told me things." "Like?" She asked sitting up as Mark cast her a teasing look. "Preferences things." "As in what?" She smacked him on the stomach as Mark laughed at her eager reaction. "C'mon, what'd she say?" Mark sat up with a smirk. "You're not one for cuddling or skinship." "Yeah, and?" "Am I an exception?" "Huh?" Mark chuckled while reaching out to lace his fingers with hers. "I'm talking about this. You don't pull away and accept it." He explained before continuing. "So am I an exception?"
Serena now knew what he meant and thought about it before hearing Mark speak. "You don't have to answer." "Yes." She said with a small smile as Mark seemed confused before she clarified. "Yes you're an exception." Mark grinned as he leaned towards Serena to place a kiss onto her lips. "That's my tsundere baby girl." Serena rolled her eyes, but a smile still graced her lips. "You're so dumb." "Only for you." "And cheesy." "Just for my baby girl." "Stop." Serena playfully punched Mark causing the idol to laugh while pulling her down with him on the mattress. "If only you call me by a pet name." "Seriously?" "Yeah."
Mark laughed a second later. "I'm kidding, but I don't mind using them on you, Serena." "Mark, is this your way of telling me that you want to be something more?" Serena asked as the thought came to her. "Well, Serena, I thought it was kind of obvious when I told you that I liked you." Mark chuckled as he pulled Serena closer and tangled their legs together causing the female to snuggled against him. "Although that's true, but I still feel weird with this whole thing." "That I'm a celebrity and you're not?" "Yeah." "Like I said before, Serena, don't think of me as an idol. Treat me like how you treated me on the first day of Chinese class."
"You mean where I barely acknowledged you until you trapped me into doing that introduction assignment with you, Mark." She playfully stated as Mark rolled his eyes, but laughed at the memory. "Yes and no." "It was different when we were starting out as friends as it was easier to see you as a normal person, Mark." "And now, Serena?" He asked while looking down at her and she turned to look up at him. "Now, you're still the same as when we first met, but we're a little closer and more comfortable. It's still gonna take some getting used to." She admitted as Mark leaned down to leave a kiss on her forehead.
"We still have time, baby girl." He said with a patient smile as Serena smirked. "Alright, baby boy." Mark raised an eyebrow intrigued upon hearing the pet name she just called him by. "Have you gone cheesy and lovey-dovey on me, Serena? Because I like it." "Shut up, Mark." Serena hid her face against his chest causing the male to laugh as he held her tightly against him. "You keep telling me that, Serena, but I know you love hearing me call you 'baby girl'." "I do not, and shut up, Mark." Serena repeated and Mark laughed as the two comfortably snuggled against one another as they continued to lie upon Serena's bed before growing sleepy.
"Good night, my baby girl." Mark whispered as Serena muttered the words right back to the idol. "Yeah, yeah. Good night to you, too, and sweet dreams." "I will now since I have you in my arms." "Seriously, don't be cheesy." "Only for you, baby girl." "That's not true. You still have your baby birds." "Yeah, but your just as special." "Whatever." He laughed while squeezing her within his embrace. "Seriously, Mark. If you're gonna be this cuddly, I think you'll need to find yourself another 'baby girl'." The idol laughed and pulled Serena even closer to him if that was still possible. "You're gonna have to get used to it, Serena." "Ugh, I know, Mark. I know, but you're always an exception." Serena snuggled against him as they drifted happily into dreamworld.
~~~~~~~
Melanie was wandering inside Lotte World as she wasn't sure what she wanted to do as she wasn't used to hanging out at a theme park all by herself. She received a call and answered it immediately upon seeing who it was. "Hey, Jeffrey!" Melanie happily answered while Jaebeom chuckled. "Hi. Where are you?" He asked where she was and told her to stay there so he could meet her. A few minutes later Jaebeom had surprised Melanie by hugging her from behind and she jumped upon his affectionate action. "Sorry for scaring you, Chaewon." Jaebeom apologized once the two began walking hand-in-hand. "It's okay, but I didn't think you were the type to do that though." "Oh what kind of type do you think I am?"
"I dunno." Melanie laughed as the duo found themselves at the ice rink. "Do you wanna ice skate?" She asked as Jaebeom looked over at her. "Do you?" "I don't mind. I'm just suggesting." "Let's go ice skating." He grinned beneath his scarf as he pulled the female to rent out skates. Once they were on the ice Melanie forgot that she has never ice skated before in her entire life. Jaebeom noticed and led her slowly as they navigated around the rink with his lead. "You don't have to stay with me, Jaebeom. You can skate off if you like and do whatever you want." Melanie told him as Jaebeom shook his head. "It's okay. I don't mind staying by your side." "You're sweet." "Always for the girl I like." "Stop." Jaebeom laughed with Melanie joining a moment later.
The duo went around the rink a few times before calling it quits and went to Magic Island to get something to eat before the theme park closed in an hour or so. They stopped by Cafe BingBingBing first for desserts before going to Kokoro Bento for an actual meal. Although it was their third date since confessing to one another it seemed like their fouth as they had already gone here before they even started dating. Once again Jaebeom paid twice at the cafe and the Japanese restaurant despite Melanie's protest of wanting to pay her share. Jaebeom continued to tell her 'next time', but Melanie knew for sure he would never let her pay next time.
Lotte World was about to close at ten when the couple decided to leave the theme park a few minutes before then. "What do you want to do now?" Jaebeom asked her as the duo headed towards the bus station. "I dunno, but let's head back to Cheongdam though." "Alright, sounds good enough for me." The two got on the bus and several minutes later during the ride Jaebeom felt something lightly bumped against his shoulder. He turned his head and noticed that Melanie's head was now lying on his shoulder and that she had fallen asleep.
He smiled at the thought of Melanie letting her guard down to fall asleep around him. Melanie's head slipped off of the idol's shoulder and Jaebeom gently placed it back to where it was before. He stayed awake watching the night time scenery passed him by, but he mainly wanted to make sure that Melanie wasn't uncomfortable in her sleep. Soon the pair arrived in Cheongdam and Jaebeom suggested if Melanie wanted to go home and sleep instead. "No, I don't want to ruin our date just because I'm sleepy, Jaebeom." Melanie reasoned, but Jaebeom tugged the both of them towards the direction of the apartment complex anyways. "Seriously, it's all good, Chaewon. We can cut the date short. I'll still see you whenever I want to, anyways, and have more dates." "True."
Melanie invited the idol in to apartment 501 as Jaebeom didn't want to end the date just yet as they could still hang out. He went to use the bathroom while she changed into something lighter and using the bathroom in her room to refresh herself. Melanie exited her room and joined Jaebeom on the couch to watch some random late night drama that was playing. "Want popcorn?" Melanie asked as she got up to head towards the kitchen to make some with Jaebeom in tow. "Do you still have strawberry milk?" "I think there's some in the fridge."
The pair returned to the living room with Melanie sitting in-between Jaebeom's legs as she lied upon him and he lied upon the sofa while the duo ate popcorn and drank strawberry milk. Some time later Melanie fell asleep along with Jaebeom a few minutes later. Melanie stirred awake first an hour later and groggily rose to sit upright while turning off the TV. She noticed Jaebeom had also fallen asleep, too, and got up to fetch him a blanket as she didn't want to disturb his sleep. When she placed the blanket on him, he stirred for a bit and she thought he had fallen back asleep until he spoke while rubbing his eyes. "What time is it?"
"It's eleven-fifty-three." Melanie answered as Jaebeom sat up and remove the blanket off of him. "You can sleep here if you want." She offered and was about to walk away when Jaebeom reached out to grab her wrist. "Hmm?" Melanie hummed as she faced him. "What if I don't want to sleep here, Chaewon?" He asked with a smirk, but Melanie didn't think nothing of it. "Then you can go back to your dorm, Jeffrey." She nonchalantly countered as Jaebeom smirked while pulling her towards him which caused Melanie to straddle his lap. "What if I don't want to go back to my dorm, Melanie?" He tried once again while wrapping his arms around her waist as Melanie wrapped her arms around his neck still not thinking of what he meant although she did assume what he was trying to do.
"Then I don't know what to tell you, Jaebeom." Melanie laughed as she leaned back and was about to slide off of his lap, but he continued to hold her in place and sighed. "How about we share your bed?" "No. That's my bed." Melanie deadpanned as she laughed while getting off of Jaebeom's lap and ran off towards her room with Jaebeom rolling his eyes, but chased after her with a playful look. He caught the female before she could closed the door to the safe haven of her bedroom. Melanie let out a squeal and was lifted in to the air from behind while Jaebeom maneuvered them to crash upon her bed letting out fits of laughter.
Once they recovered Jaebeom was gingerly hovering over Melanie as he looked down at her and she up at him. Jaebeim tenderly brushed Melanie's hair out of her face before leaning down to kiss the female. Melanie returned the kiss as it turned deeper and before the both of them knew it they both had their hands in each other's hair in a soft grip. Rationality snapped Melanie back to reality as she broke the kiss. "Wait, Jaebeom, wait." She said in a breathy tone while he looked at her in concern. "What? Did I hurt you? Are you okay?" He checked her for any possibility of injury.
Melanie calmed the idol down with a laugh as she softly pushed him off of her. "Chaewon?" "I know that we both like each other, but I think that's a little too fast." Melanie said as Jaebeom's expression became one of confusion. "We just got caught up in the moment, Chaewon." "Still, Jaebeom, we could've done something if neither of us had stopped it." She reasoned with a meaningful frown. "Look, Jaebeom, you're an idol and I'm not, and there's just so many things that could play out for us if we're not careful with these kind of things." Jaebeom just listened as he let Melanie talked.
"Stuff like this could be blown out of proportion and your company may or may not accept that. Plus, I would be super mad at myself if anything was to happen to you and your life. A-" Jaebeom intervened as he placed his hands on top of hers to let her know to calm down and take a breath. "Chaewon, it's fine. I know that life as an idol isn't the greatest, but it's my life and the career I wanted to pursue. I get to perform for so many people and know that I make someone's day a little brighter. I also know that I don't get enough sleep or eat all that healthy, but it's part of the idol life."
He used his thumb and forefinger to lift Melanie's chin so that she would be looking up at him instead of the floor. "Honestly so far, you have made it bearable because I have you by my side, Chaewon." He brushed her stray tears that had escaped that she wasn't even aware of that had materialized all of a sudden. "Because I have you there with me, Chaewon." The female pulled her head away to wipe away her tears and to not have to stare at his loving gaze. "Stop being so mushy, Jaebeom. I can't handle it." Melanie said as she tried to keep her emotions in control while Jaebeom smiled and reached out to grab Melanie's wrist and pulled her towards him.
He looked at her as he asked the question that he's been wanting to ask all night. "Will you be my girlfriend, Chaewon?" Melanie was caught off guard. "I'm sorry?" Jaeeom repeated his question as Melanie remained speechless by the unexpected question. "You don't have to give me an answer right now, but I'll wait for when you're ready." He told her as he brush another strand of her hair behind her ear while she thought about it and smiled at the idol. "Okay." "Hmm?" "I'm saying that I'll be your girlfriend, Jaebeom," Melanie smiled as she leaned to kiss him on the cheek, "If you'll be my boyfriend." "Definitely, my girlfriend." "Gah, Jaebeom, you're so cheesy." "But I'm your cheesy boyfriend, Chaewon."
"That, you definitely are." Melanie confirmed as she kissed him on the lips with Jaebeom returning the kiss before speaking again. "But, what about Ahgase?" "What about them?" "They're gonna be disappointed that they can't be your girlfriend. Actually, all the fans will be hurt that you can't be their boyfriend." Melanie explained as Jaebeom chuckled. "Technically true, but I hope they'll understand and accept you when that time comes for me to tell them that I already have the best girlfriend ever." "Wow. Best girlfriend ever. Really?" She playfully responded in sarcasm before asking him a serious question.
"How many girlfriends have you had before me?" "Three, but that's in the past. You're my present and I surely hope my future, too." "We shall see." "Can you at least be more optimistic about it?" "Let's enjoy the present and always wish for the best for tomorrow, Jaebeom. It's the only way that makes sense." Melanie reasoned as Jaebeom nodded. "Fine." He agreed, but then eyed her. "How many boyfriends have you had before me?" Melanie stalled just to tease the idol as he squeezed her waist for her to hurry and answer him. "Okay, okay." She stopped playing. "Two, but they're in the past. You're my present and that's all that matters." "Yes it does." Jaebeom happily agreed as he placed his lips upon Melanie's as she returned the kiss just as happily.
The two pulled away with Jaebeom pressing his forehead against her. "So, can we share your bed without the naughty stuff?" Melanie broke out laughing at the idol's words. "No." Jaebeom frowned, but Melanie used her index fingers to move the corners of his lips upwards. "I'm kidding, my boyfriend. Yes we can cuddle on my bed, my darling of a boyfriend." Jaebeom didn't respond as he instead lifted Melanie and positioned the both of them comfortably onto her bed. "Good, because I didn't want to return to the dorms, anyways." "And why not?" "Because I want to cuddle my lovely girlfriend for as long as I can before I return back to my hectic schedule." He reasoned as she smiled while lacing their fingers together.
"Only for tonight." She said as he pouted. "Why only for tonight?" "Because it's weird if you stay here for more than one night without going back to your place and your manager will be worried and probably ask questions." "Alright." The idol grumbled as he pulled his girlfriend closer into his embrace while Melanie laughed as she snuggled against her boyfriend. "Don't be such a baby, Jaebeom." "I'm not a baby, Chaewon." "But you're definitely my baby." Jaebeom cast her an amused look. "So who's cheesy now?" "Regardless of who's cheesier than the other, it's still you." She chuckled as pecked him on the lips before returning back to snuggling against him once more. "Good night, my boyfriend." "Good night, my girlfriend." The two bid each other a good night as they snuggled and they happily fell asleep within each other's embrace.
Honestly, Little by Little (Pt. 1)
Idol: Lua (Weki Meki)
Prompt: Because of who she hangs out with, Lua has the reputation of a “bad girl” around school. You’ve never spoken to her before, and never wanted to, but through a chance encounter, you begin to realize that everything you’d thought you knew about her was wrong. Fem!Reader.
Writer: Admin Kiwi
A/N: Okay, I couldn’t just let Weki Meki comeback and NOT write something for them. I seriously don’t get enough Weki Meki requests and I’ve been binging their Mohae series so I just had to write something for Lua, who has surpassed Yoojung as the bias. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy, and go watch Weki Meki’s comeback Crush, it’s amazing! Also this ended up being so long as I wrote it that I decided to split it into two parts. I’ll try to have part 2 up soon!
Warnings: Underage drinking and minor drug use that I do not condone. Also a few innuendos, I guess you could call them.
Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
“Guess what happened to me today.” You looked up as your friend Hyunjin dropped her backpack onto the floor and plopped down at her desk, eyes wide and a grin on her face. How the two of you had become friends, you really didn’t understand. She was quite popular, pretty, funny, and loud, and she was in multiple clubs around school. You, on the other hand, were a bit of a nerd. You spent most of your time in the library, where it was quiet (which was how you liked it), and you’d never been to a real party. The only club you were in was the math club, and you prioritized your studies, unlike Hyunjin, who was a solid C and B student.
But somehow, the two of you had sat together in homeroom freshmen year, and ever since, the two of you had been friends.
“What happened?” You asked, only mildly interested as you looked up from the book you’d been reading. In the past two years, you’d come to realize that she often found weird things to be exciting. Like the time she’d cried out of happiness over a girl giving her a piece of bread.
“Lua hit on me. The Kim Lua. I almost died.” That.... That was different. Your eyebrows went up and you put down your book, giving her your full attention.
“Wait, for real? I thought she only hit on hot girls like Lisa or Yves.” Pouting, Hyunjin kicked at your leg, but missed.
“I’m hot! Shut up!” You grinned and moved further into your desk so that she couldn’t reach you.
“Seriously, though. I guess she’s really making her rounds. What popular girls hasn’t she hit on yet?”
“She hasn’t hit on you.”
“I said popular. I’m not popular.”
“You’re friends with me!” You shook your head.
“That doesn’t mean I’m friends with your friends. I’m not in the popular group. I’m not cool like that.” Hyunjin sat back in her seat, pout gone.
“I think you’re cool.” You laughed.
“That’s just you, Hyunjin. Anyway, don’t you have a thing with that Heejin girl? Why are you so excited about Lua hitting on you?” She shrugged and unzipped her backpack, pulling out her notebook.
“I do. But having Lua hit on you is exciting! She’s really cool when she talks to you and she has a really nice smile. I’m not saying I’d date her like I’d date Heejin, but it was nice to talk to her.” You didn’t really get it. Honestly, you’d be fine if you never spoke to Lua. Her group of friends was not one that you liked being around. They cared nothing about school and thought they were so cool, pushing the dress code with their crazy outfits and hair and jewelry and throwing wild parties. Plus, they were plenty scary. Suyeon, one of the upperclassmen in the group who was on the basketball team, was known for having a quick temper and cursing a lot. Doyeon, also on the basketball team, was known for her cool and almost emotionless demeanor.
“Whatever you say,” you said, just as the teacher opened the door and walked in.
“Alright everyone, I’m going to need you to pass in the homework I assigned over the weekend once we start class.”
“Shit! I forgot, can I copy yours really quick?” Rolling your eyes, you passed over your homework. This wasn’t an uncommon occurrence.
“You’ve only got few minutes, you’d better hurry.”
-
Later in the week, you were sitting next to your friends outside, eating lunch. The cafeteria was much too loud and crowded for you to want to go anywhere near it, and it was a nice day outside anyway. It was a normal day: you’d made yourself a sandwich for lunch, Hyunjin had forgotten her math homework again, you’d helped your seatmate in chemistry understand hydrogen borrowing, and then you’d gathered with your friends away from the loud cafeteria to eat lunch. It was going like every other day of your life since you’d started high school.
It was normal. That is, until Chaeyoung skipped up to the group, eyes sparkling.
“You’re late,” Seoyeon said, giving her a suspicious look. “What in the world were you doing?”
She tossed her hair over her shoulder and sat down, a grin on her face. “I was talking to Yoojung. You know, the cute, short girl who’s friends with all the delinquents?”
“Why were you talking to her?” Chaewon asked quietly, curious as she peeked over her book.
“It’s a long story, but basically I tutored her in math and ended up saving her from failing, and she ended up being really nice, so we talk now.”
“I really don’t understand why she’s dating Doyeon,” you said, shaking your head. “That girl doesn’t seem like she has any emotions.”
“I know you’ve never heard of it, (Y/N), but it’s called love,” Chaeyoung said, making you scowl and throw your napkin at her.
“Oh, shut up, it’s not like you’ve ever dated anyone either.” She shrugged.
“Good point. Anyway, I was talking to her and guess what?”
“What?” Seoyeon asked, scooting a bit closer with wide eyes. Everyone else was listening well too. Even Dami had put down her book to listen.
“She invited me to the party this weekend.” The entire time she’d been talking, Chaeyoung had been hiding her hand behind her. But now, she pulled it out to reveal two “tickets” in hand, grinning widely and wiggling her eyebrows. “She told me to bring a friend too. How crazy is that? This math club member just got invited to one of Doyeon’s exclusive parties.” Everyone’s eyes widened, and Seoyeon’s mouth dropped open.
For a moment, the air was still and silent as everyone stared in shock. You wondered if you were dreaming. There was no way one of your friends has just gotten invited to such a thing. Surely, this was some kind of joke.
“Is there a catch?” Seoyeon asked gingerly, voicing your very own thoughts. Chaeyoung shook her head.
“Yoojung wouldn’t do that. I’m telling you guys, she’s actually really sweet.”
“I know she’s sweet, but what about the others?”
“She said that she’d talked to them already and they were cool with me coming. Apparently Doyeon was the one to suggest inviting me.”
“That’s so weird,” Chaewon said, shaking her head in awe. “Why?”
“She’s thankful to me for saving her girlfriend from failing, I guess? I’m supposed to meet both of them for science tutoring next week, actually.”
“The resident genius,” you said, shaking your head. “Only you, Chaeyoung.”
“So, who wants to come with me?” She asked. Immediately, Dami and Chaewon shook their heads.
“No way,” Dami said, “I’m not a party person.”
“Me neither. I’m way too shy for that.” Chaeyoung looked at Seoyeon, but Seoyeon shook her head.
“I have to babysit that weekend. Sorry.” Before you knew it, everyone’s eyes were on you. You were the only left.
“Come on, (Y/N), I don’t want to go alone,” Chaeyoung said, giving you her best puppy dog eyes.
“I-.”
“Plus, you know Hyunjin, right? She’ll probably be there so it’s not like you wouldn’t know anyone.” This was an awful idea. You had no idea how to act at parties, because you’d never been to one. Plus, the music would be so loud, and you’d heard how these parties usually went down. Still, you didn’t want to make Chaeyoung go alone.
You sighed. “Fine. I’ll go with you.”
“Yay! Thank you (Y/N), you’re my new best friend.” You rolled your eyes as she hugged you, already regretting that you’d agreed. You just hoped that Hyunjin would be there too.
-
“What?! You’re going to the party this weekend? How?” Hyunjin looked just as shocked as your friends had been when Chaeyoung had announced she’d been invited. She was so shocked, she’d actually sat up from her beanbag chair, where she was usually impossible to move. You sat across from her on the smaller beanbag chair, nodding your head.
“My friend Chaeyoung tutored Doyeon’s girlfriend Yoojung and ended up being friends with her or something. Now she’s tutoring both of them, so she was invited and told she could bring a friend.”
“Wow. That’s crazy. How did she convince you to go? You’re, like, super against partying.” You sighed and leaned back, looking up at her ceiling.
“None of our other friends could go and I wasn’t going to make her go alone. She’s better than most of us at socializing but she’s still awkward.”
“True. I’m going, so I’ll totally come over and talk to you. It’s going to be weird seeing you there though.” You laughed.
“No kidding. That’s not the kind of place I usually frequent.” She was back to her normal laying-down position on the beanbag, arms crossed.
“Anything I can do?”
“Yeah. Help. I have no idea what to wear or what to expect or how to act.” She laughed, loudly. Like she always did.
“How about I come over to your place, like, an hour before the party or something to help you choose an outfit?” You looked back at Hyunjin to give her a grateful smile.
“I’d appreciate that. Although I’m pretty sure I have nothing in my closet that’s party appropriate.” Her eyes sparkled, and you felt a sudden sense of dread.
“Then shopping time it is. Get your friend Chaeyoung to meet us at the mall. We’re going to get you party ready.”
-
The day of the party, the door rang an hour early, as promised. Chaeyoung was already there, picking nervously as her nails as you ran down to answer the door. Thankfully, your parents weren’t home, so you didn’t have to explain where you were going and why you were dressed like you were. And you were spending the night at Chaeyoung’s, since her parents were on a business trip, so you could avoid having your parents be suspicious.
You opened the door to two people instead of one. Hyunjin stood with Heejin beside her, and although you’d met Heejin before, a couple times, her beauty always took your breath away for a moment.
“Oh, um, hi.” You glanced at Hyunjin, and she gave you a sheepish smile.
“Sorry, I meant to let you know that I was bringing her over, but I forgot. She knows how to do makeup better than I do so I thought it would be good for her to be here too.”
“It’s okay,” you said, stepping to the side and giving Heejin a smile. “Welcome to my house. It’s not much but make yourself at home.”
“Thank you, (Y/N).” As pretty as she was, Heejin was also sweet. “What kind of makeup are we doing tonight?” She held up a bag that you could tell was full of makeup supplies, and you shrugged, leading them back to your room.
“Whatever goes with our outfits, I guess.” Chaeyoung stood up from the bed when Heejin walked in, looking surprised.
“Chaeyoung, this is Heejin, Hyunjin’s girlfriend. Heejin, this is my friend Chaeyoung.”
“Um, hello.”
“Hello! It’s nice to meet you, Chaeyoung! I’m going to help out with makeup, if that’s okay.” Chaeyoung was taken aback at first, but quickly smiled back at Heejin. You knew they’d get along well.
“That’s okay. Should we get started?”
-
Your outfit felt tight, even as you rode the elevator up to the rooftop party. You’d never worn a leather shirt before, and you were never going to wear one again, because this one was uncomfortable. The long eyelashes on your eyes also felt unfamiliar and heavy when you blinked, but they looked nice so you didn’t complain. Honestly, you’d been surprised at your own reflection. You looked different, and you weren’t sure you liked it.
The music could be heard before the elevator doors even opened, but once they did, it was even louder. The thumping base could be felt in your veins, and you winced, hoping your ears would get used to it soon.
“The only reason they get away with it is because Doyeon’s family is rolling in money and owns this building. Otherwise the police would be here already,” Hyunjin said under her breath, just loud enough for you to hear as the four of you walked up to the party.
Yoojung was there, standing at the door behind a small table, and she smiled when she saw the four of you walking up.
“Chaeyoung! You made it!” Chaeyoung smiled back and produced the homemade tickets from her small purse, handing them over to Yoojung.
“Yep! This is (Y/N), my friend who I invited to come with me.” Yoojung grinned and leaned over the table, taking Hyunjin and Heejin’s tickets before turning back to you.
“Hello (Y/N), welcome!” Hyunjin and Heejin were already moving over to a piece of paper, and you watched as they wrote down their names. Yoojung followed your gaze and then quickly explained. “Oh, I forgot you guys haven’t been here before! I just need you to both write your names down there. For a head count, you know?” It was a bit confusing, and you didn’t understand why a party needed people to sign-in, but you wrote your name down anyway. Once Chaeyoung was done, Yoojung gave her a little wave. “You guys have fun! I’ll come find you once I’m done here, okay?”
“Sounds good,” Chaeyoung said, waving back at her with a smile. Then the four of you turned and walked deeper into the party.
The first thing you noticed was the bar, and you winced. You should have known that there would be illegal drinking here. There was also the smell of weed in the air, although it was faint enough that it didn’t seem like a lot of people were smoking it. The music was loud and coming from a DJ in the corner, and there seemed to be an area designated for dancing.
“Wow, the scale of this is huge,” Chaeyoung said, eyes wide as she took everything in. Hyunjin nodded with a grin.
“Yep. Doyeon does everything with a bang.”
“Wait, didn’t Heejin drive us here? You’re not going to drink and drive, are you?” Heejin waved her hands.
“Oh, no! I don’t drink. They have non-alcoholic drinks at the bar too. Don’t worry!” You liked Heejin more and more as you got to know her. You let out a sigh of relief, and then another thing stood out to you.
“Hey, why did we have to sign in?” Hyunjin stopped and looked at you with her eyebrows raised.
“Wait, they didn’t tell you?” You and Chaeyoung looked at each other and then back at Hyunjin, shaking your heads. “At every party, there’s a drawing for some sort of prize. Sometimes, if your name gets drawn, you get to date one of the girls for a week. Of course, if you’re in a relationship, they respect that and draw someone else, but it’s cool to see.” One of the girls. She was referring to the group of girls that Doyeon hung out with: Suyeon, Elly, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy.
“Seriously? That’s actually nuts!” Chaeyoung’s mouth dropped open. “What will we do if we get chosen? There’s no way I’d survive dating one of them!” Hyunjin laughed.
“It might not be a date this time, sometimes they give out, like, gadgets and stuff. The time my name was drawn I got a necklace and earrings, but they change it up every week.” You still didn’t like the sound of it, and you glanced back at the table, regretting writing your name down. It was like Chaeyoung had said: neither of you would survive dating those girls. Both of you were complete opposites of them.
“Try not to think about it and have fun,” Heejin said. “Come on, let’s go to the bar. We’ll show you how to order.”
They did end up having non-alcoholic drinks, and Heejin ordered you and Chaeyoung two virgin margaritas.
“They’re good, I promise,” she said as she passed them over to the two of you. And she was right. The drink was sweet, but not too sweet, and without the alcohol, there was no burn. You took a tentative sip and watched as Hyunjin drank her real cocktail, rather impressed. Hyunjin acted like an adult already.
You ended up sitting near the railing of the roof, looking down at the city lights below you with your drink in hand. Chaeyoung sat across from you, and Hyunjin and Heejin had disappeared somewhere after Hyunjin’s second drink. You kind of didn’t want to know.
The music changed to something much more up-tempo and you turned to look as cheers rang out from around the dance floor. Lua was there, with Yoojung, but your focus was on Lua. The way she moved was amazing, and you let out a little gasp as she did the splits like it was nothing, easily jumping back up and continuing to dance right afterwards. Normally you wouldn’t be interested in something like this, but somehow you couldn’t look away. She was just too good to tear your eyes away as she moved across the floor to the beat of the song, doing moves that you didn’t even know were possible.
You watched, eyes glued to her, until the music changed, and she stopped dancing and let out a laugh, hands coming back up to fix her hair as she walked towards the group of girls who had been cheering, grin so wide it showed her dimples. Quickly, you shook your head and looked back down at your drink. She was still just a playgirl.
“I was thinking about dancing, but I can’t after that. How are they so good?”
“They probably practice a lot,” you said, dismissing it the best you could. “Once the floor is full, people wouldn’t even notice if you’re good or not. If you want to dance, you should.”
“Hey! Are you guys enjoying the party?” Yoojung seemed to appear out of the crowd like magic, making both of you jump. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you! I’m small, so I move around quickly.”
“It’s okay,” Chaeyoung said with a smile, waving her hand not holding the drink. “You killed it out there by the way. Where did you learn to dance like that?”
“Thank you! It’s one of my passions, so I practice a lot,” she said, pulling up a chair and sitting down. “Lua is better than me, though. She’s been dancing since she was little. She can do everything from hip-hop to ballet.”
“Seriously?” You looked back over at her as you spoke. “I would never have pegged her as the ballet type.”
“Right? But she’s honestly amazing at it. I go to all of her shows and I’m still amazed every time. She’s surprisingly girly. Her favorite color is even pink.” Now that you thought about it, she did wear a lot of pinks, even if it was on her hats and bomber jackets or those bright pink pants that the teachers hated. She was even wearing a hot pink shirt now, albeit a crop-top with a lace-up front.
You glanced over at her, and when you looked back at Yoojung, Doyeon was walking up behind her. Even just her walk was intimidating, and you swallowed nervously, but Chaeyoung gave her a smile and a wave.
“Hello, Doyeon.” To your surprise, Doyeon gave her a small smile back as she wrapped her arms around Yoojung.
“Hey, Chaeyoung. You enjoying the party so far?”
“It’s a little different than what I’m used to,” Chaeyoung admitted sheepishly, making Yoojung laugh. “But it’s fun!”
“I’m surprised you’re drinking alcohol,” Doyeon said, to which Chaeyoung quickly shook her head.
“Oh, no! (Y/N)’s friend Heejin ordered these for us. She called them virgin, which means they have no alcohol. Right?” Doyeon chuckled.
“Right.” Then, her eyes landed on you. “You’re (Y/N), right?” You nodded, unable to find the words to speak, but Chaeyoung spoke up before you had to.
“Oh, yeah, this is the friend I invited, (Y/N)! She’s somehow friends with some popular people so I convinced her that she would have people to talk to if she came with me.”
“It’s nice to meet you, (Y/N). Thanks for keeping our Chaeyoung company.” ‘Our’ Chaeyoung? Apparently they really liked her.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” Doyeon looked down at her girlfriend, and her features became soft.
“Anyway, I came over here to get Yoojung so we can do the gift announcement. Sorry to interrupt.”
“That’s okay!” Chaeyoung said, “By the way, what is the gift tonight?”
“Dating Lua for a week,” Doyeon said with a grin, resting her chin on Yoojung’s head, which made the younger girl whine. “It’s been a pretty popular one, so we brought it back for tonight. Maybe you guys will get lucky.”
“Ah, I don’t think I could keep up with someone like her....” You weren’t saying anything, but you agreed with Chaeyoung. How would a nerd like the two of you be able to date someone like Lua?
“You never know,” Doyeon said, “don’t be so hard on yourself. Anyway, we’ve got to go. We’ll come back over and talk once everything is settled, okay?”
“Bye Chaeyoung, bye (Y/N)!” Yoojung said, waving at the two of you with a wide smile as her girlfriend led her away. The two of you waved back until the two disappeared into the crowd, and Chaeyoung looked back at you.
“See? Doyeon isn’t too bad. Yoojung told me that she just has a hard time conveying her emotions because she gets nervous.”
“Doyeon? Nervous?” It didn’t seem real. That girl had it all. But you guessed if it was her girlfriend saying it, it had to be real. “I would have never guessed it.”
“I know. But when I talked to her she was genuinely nice, so I know Yoojung is telling the truth.”
“They both certainly seem to like you,” you said, making Chaeyoung squeal and bring her hands up to cover her cheeks.
“Stop it! I’ll end up blushing!” You laughed at her, shaking your head, but then the music died out, making you look over at the dance floor again. At the far end, the main group of girls had gathered, and Doyeon had a microphone in hand. Yoojung was holding a bowl full of folded up papers, and your heart jumped knowing that your name was in there. You almost wanted to rush up and take it out, but you would never have to confidence to do such a thing.
To distract yourself from the feeling of imminent doom, you looked over the group. Suyeon was there, and she looked a bit different than usual with her hair up. Lucy was there too, hands in her pockets looking kind of like she’d rather be back at the bar eating the snacks. Elly was leaning over Yoojung’s shoulder, listening to whatever Doyeon was explaining, as the microphone was still off. Rina and Sei were talking, Rina with her arms crossed as Sei messed with her bangs.
“Honestly, Sei is really cute too,” you said, squinting to see her better from your seat. “How did she end up in their friend group?”
“Honestly I have no idea. I think she was friends with Lua so she just ended up joining the group when Lua did.”
Speaking of Lua, she was standing next to Doyeon, slipping back into the bomber jacket she’d abandoned when she’d went out to dance. She didn’t seem nervous at all, but she was always confident when she hit on girls so you weren’t sure why you thought she might be nervous now.
The microphone clicked to life and Doyeon brought it up to her mouth, raising her eyebrows.
“Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a good time, like usual.” There was a loud cheer, and you looked around. Everyone who had scattered around the party before had returned, knowing about the prize and wanting to see who had won. You could even see Heejin and Hyunjin standing off to the side in each other’s arms, watching Doyeon speak. “We’re now going to announce the prize. Is everyone curious?” Another cheer, and she smiled. “Why don’t I let our Lua introduce it?” She handed the microphone over to Lua, who grinned widely and stepped forward.
“Since it was popular the last few times, we’ve brought it back. Tonight’s prize is, wait for it.... Dating me for a week!” The crowd seemed to go crazy, especially the girls. You’d known that she was a player, but you hadn’t realized that it was on this scale. The girls at this party were crazy for her. Shaking your head, you tuned out whatever else she was saying and took the last sip of the margarita Heejin had gotten for you. You weren’t really interested in any of this, dating someone out of this group was not on your to-do list, and plus, the chances of your name being pulled were slim. There were so many people here that there was no way-.
“(Y/N)! Tonight’s winner is (Y/N)!” Doyeon held up a strip of paper, and her eyes moved over to your table as the crowd began to murmur, looking around because they didn’t recognize your name. For a moment, you sat very still, hoping this was just a dream. But it wasn’t. It was very, very real, and you knew it was when Chaeyoung hit you on the arm in her shock. “Congrats, (Y/N), it looks like you’ve got a girlfriend for the week.”
You wanted to run, but you were rooted to your chair, unable to move as everyone watched Doyeon and Yoojung lead Lua your way. How were you so unlucky? You could see Hyunjin and Heejin grinning and waving at you, and you wished you’d never agreed to come.
“Wow, (Y/N), who would have guessed you’d get so lucky at your first party!” Yoojung was practically bouncing with excitement, and you stared at her with wide eyes, panicking internally. You’d never even dated anyone, how were you going to do this? Was Lua really going to be your first girlfriend?
“Don’t be so nervous, Lua doesn’t bite unless you want her to,” Doyeon said, earning her a slap on the arm from Lua as she stepped forward.
“You’re (Y/N)?” Slowly, mechanically, you nodded. “I thought your name was unfamiliar. I guess I wouldn’t know it since you’ve never been to one of our parties before. But it’s nice to meet you, babe.” Your face flushed immediately at her use of the word, and she grinned even wider, eyebrows going up. “Should we get to know each other better?” Chaeyoung across from you squealed and covered her mouth, leaning back in her chair, and you made a mental note to curse at her later. This was her fault.
“Uh, I.” What could you do? You couldn’t lie and say that you were in a relationship because Chaeyoung was right there, and Hyunjin and Heejin were making their way over, and Hyunjin looked just tipsy enough to sell you out for the laugh. And it would be rude to just refuse. Was that even allowed? You were totally stuck with nowhere to run. Swallowing, you glanced down at your empty glass. “Sure.” What else could you say? You were just going to have to ride this out.
Lua wasn’t fazed by your hesitance to accept, probably just thinking that you were nervous. With her grin still in place, she held out her hand. “Come on. Let’s go over to the bar and get you another drink.” Internally, you panicked. But on the outside, you tried to play it cool, swallowing thickly as you picked up your empty glass and stood up, glancing at Hyunjin and Heejin, who both gave you a thumbs up. You really didn’t want to take her hand, but you felt like you had no choice, so you did.
Her hand was surprisingly soft, and you just hoped that you didn’t start sweating is she gave you a smile and tugged you away from the group towards the bar. Behind you, you could hear Hyunjin whistle. She was so being added to the list of people to yell at later.
“So, what do you like to drink?” She was talking to you. You tried to remember what Heejin had ordered for you earlier, focusing on the empty glass.
“Well, I don’t really drink. Heejin ordered this for me earlier without any alcohol but I don’t remember what it was. A margarita or something?”
“Have you never tried alcohol?” You glanced at her out of the side of your eyes.
“No?”
“Oh, that’s so boring! I’ll get you something without much alcohol so you can try it.”
“Um, that’s okay, I-.”
“Come on, you’re at a party! You can let loose here! If you end up not liking it, I won’t make you drink it, don’t worry.” What could you say? She didn’t seem like she was someone who would take no for an answer, and she was determined to get you to try whatever she was thinking about. Was she drunk? You didn’t know, since you’d never actually talked to her before.
The bar was crowded, but the crowd parted as she walked up, and you could feel the girls standing there sizing you up. You really hated having this many eyes on you, so you looked down at the floor and tried to ignore the feeling of their stares.
“Hey, bartender Jihyo! Can you give me two of the usual? Make one light, though, my girlfriend hasn’t really had anything strong before.” The bartender gave her a smile and nodded, turning around to begin making something, and you shuddered a bit at the mention of “girlfriend”. This was real, wasn’t it? Your first girlfriend was really Kim Lua. This wasn’t just a nightmare.
You listened as some of the girls talked to Lua, and she laughed along with something they were saying, until the hand in your own tightened its grip and you glanced up to see her holding a drink.
“Here. This one is yours. I think you’ll like it.” You took it gingerly. It felt different than before, knowing this drink actually had alcohol in it. Jihyo slid another drink over the counter, and Lua grabbed it and stepped back. When you glanced at her again, there was a gleam in her eyes that made you nervous. “Alright, follow me. I know somewhere more private we can talk.” Some of the girls whined, but Lua ignored them as she led you away, towards a back elevator that you hadn’t even seen before. It was slightly hidden behind elaborate plants on top of half-walls, but Lua seemed to know exactly where she was going.
The elevator was even nicer than the one you’d rode up on, and you looked around in awe, surprised at the scale of it.
“This elevator is so pretty, isn’t it? It leads down to the upscale private rooms so they had to make it a little bit nicer.”
“It is really pretty,” you admitted, nodding your head. You felt stiff and unnatural beside her, the drink in your hand foreign and the hand in yours even more so. Then, it struck you what she’d said, and you panicked a little inside. Private rooms. Where was this going?
The elevator doors slid open to reveal a small but beautiful hall, and she led you out towards the last door, hand slipping out of yours to pull a key from her pocket. You waited with your heart in your throat as she unlocked the door, eyes searching for any way out.
“Come on in!” The door swung open to reveal a suite, with a large bed, an elaborate bathroom with a giant bath, a desk, and two chairs to sit on in front of the bed, not to mention the walk-in closet and the vanity. The television was huge too, taking up half the room. You stepped slowly inside, eyes wide as you took it all in. Was this normal for rich people? You’d never seen such a room in person. This stuff only happened in movies. Except now you were inside one, and it was very real, and you were definitely not in a movie. “What do you think?”
“This is crazy,” you said, shaking your head. “How are we allowed to use this?” Lua winked and sat down on one of the plush chairs, motioning for you to do the same.
“This floor is designated for Doyeon and her friends, which means us. We could stay here all night, if you wanted to.” You decided not to think about the implications of that sentence as you sat down. “Have you tried the drink yet?”
“Haven’t had the chance,” you said, glancing down at the glass as she took a sip of her own. What would your parents say if they knew you were here instead of studying at Chaeyoung’s place? You could only imagine. You’d never thought that you’d have your first sip of alcohol while you were still in high school, but there you were. Slowly, you took a sip.
It tasted almost like the drink you’d had before, but there was a bit of a burn when it hit the back of your throat and you winced a bit. Still, the sweetness took away most of the feeling, and the drink wasn’t bad. You weren’t sure if you wanted to drink it all, though. Being drunk in a room like this was not something you wanted to happen.
“Do you like it?”
“It’s okay. I’m not used to the burn,” you said, lowering the drink and hoping that she wouldn’t pressure you into taking another sip.
“I guess it isn’t for everyone,” she said, shrugging her shoulders and taking another sip of her own drink and nodding towards the desk. “There’s water and stuff in the fridge if you’d like that instead.” When you looked over, you noticed the small fridge for the first time. The door to it was clear, showing an assortment of drinks inside, and you got up and wandered over to it. Placing the drink on the desk, you opened the fridge door and took out one of the waters, then walked back over to the chair and sat down.
“This is good,” you said when she raised her eyebrows, assuring her that you didn’t want anything else. Honestly, you just wanted to go home. Although there was something about her that was... alluring, almost. You kind of understood now why Hyunjin had gotten so excited over getting hit on.
“If you say so,” she said, leaning forward. “Anyway, (Y/N), tell me about yourself. I haven’t really seen you around.” Well, you’d been around. But you weren’t surprised that she hadn’t noticed you. It’s not like you were anything close to popular enough for her.
“There’s not really much to tell,” you said, shrugging your shoulders. “I’m friends with Hyunjin and Heejin, but that’s about all the popular people I know. I’m in the math club. The only people I’m behind when it comes to grades are my friends. As for hobbies? If doing homework is a hobby, then I have one. I like watching shows, too, I guess. I’m pretty boring.” Her face was unreadable as she watched you, and it was unnerving, so you looked down at the water bottle in your hands instead.
“I haven’t known anyone in the math club before. That’s impressive, though, that you’re at the top of the school in your grades! I could never do that.”
“All it takes is studying,” you said, and she fell quiet for a moment before laughing.
“You’re interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone tell me anything like that.” You looked back at her, eyebrows raised, surprised she hadn’t thought it was rude. “I mean, it’s true. If I studied, I bet I could get better grades.”
“Do you not study?” She shook her head slightly and took another sip of her drink.
“Not really. I don’t have the time between everything else I do and doing the homework.”
“What all do you do?” She grinned, like just talking about it made her happy.
“Ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, hip-hop dancing. My dance teacher recently started training me to be more well-rounded so I can dance to anything, so that’s extra lessons too. Plus I’m a cheerleader at the school, and I’m in the dance club. And I do stuff like this. So I’m always busy.” You had no idea about any of this. You still couldn’t really imagine her doing gymnastics or ballet, but she seemed so passionate about it that it made you feel a bit bad for feeling angry about her not studying.
“How do you not get tired with that kind of schedule?” She laughed again.
“I do, trust me. But I love dancing and gymnastics so it’s easy to carry on. I think I’d die if I couldn’t dance.” That wasn’t something you’d expected to hear from her, but you nodded your head, looking back down at your water bottle. You couldn’t really understand where she was coming from. You loved school and learning, sure, and you liked math, but you didn’t feel like you’d die if you didn’t have them.
“It’s good to have something that you’re so passionate about,” you said, and she tilted her head slightly, watching you.
“I’m sure that there’s something you’re passionate about. Everyone is passionate about something. You just have to find it.” When you glanced up again, she was closer. So close that it made your breath hitch in your throat, both because of what she’d said and how close she was. You licked your lips, and watched her eyes follow it, your heart beating hard. She was leaning in, and you didn’t know what to do. You hadn’t even had your first kiss yet. Was this really how it was going to be?
Your phone rang in your pocket and you jumped up, startling her slightly.
“Oh, I’m sorry! It’s Heejin, they’re all probably heading home and I have to go with them.” Secretly, you were relieved for the distraction, but when you looked at her, her face was slightly fallen.
“Oh. That’s okay. I’ll walk you back up.” She sat down her glass and stood up, giving you a small smile as she pulled out her phone. “Could I get your number?”
“Sure.” It would be weird to have a girlfriend and not have their phone number, right?
Your heart was still beating quick in your chest, and you wondered if she could hear it as you typed your number into her phone and handed it back.
“Thanks,” she said, slipping the phone back into her pocket and holding out her hand again. Although you were flustered, you took it, letting her lead you out of the room and up to where your friends were waiting by the door.
Later, finally in the car with the rest of your friends, you looked out the window, drowning out the sounds of their excited talking. Your phone felt heavy in your pocket, and for some reason, you couldn’t get the image of Lua’s small smile out of your head.
why doesn’t the current employment system work?
easy, it’s a half-assed one-solution-fits-all approach made by rich people who have NEVER used the employment search system.
-
How does it work?
You want centrelink? You get assigned a job-search centre, there’s always 4-5 in even small towns now. It’s a lucrative business.
You’re told ‘search for 20-40 jobs per month’ based on your area. They have to be jobs you could reasonably do (one or two assholes made sure the whole system was tightened bc they’d apply for things they had no qualifications for).
These are entered online, on a special governmental site. Failure to locate the right amount gets you a strike, or more than one.
Which is hard because there are only so many jobs in smaller towns, right?
So let’s say you have no luck, you hand in the 20 for that fortnight, and ‘report’ online to centrelink that you are following the rules.
They also make you do mandatory courses such as the 2-day ‘Resume Writing Course’ that you can do up to twice in 6 months. It’s as stupid as it sounds, and you learn nothing but that you hate the place.
Also, 3-day mandatory ‘Communication with People’. How to talk to people. Literally. 3 days of your life gone. Gee, wish I’d done some sort of degree around literally talking to people and using analysis... hmmm...
They do not Recognise Prior Learning, at all. Because each person they make attend gets them more and more money.
-
New rules allow for them to identify a job you HAVE to apply for -even if you must write a new resume and cover letter. Which, in some cases, is a little fair.  Maybe you’re using one from years ago.
New rules can make them demand you call the HR of a certain place in front of them, to prove your resume went in, and to ask about the position. Of course, this will slap you on the Hell No list, but at least they’re satisfied.
New rules allow them to make you change your existing resume -e.g. they can demand you remove your degree/qualifications to make you more attractive to retail employers (always wary of taking on someone who might move on quickly).
That only works for 6 months these days.
- - -
After 6 months, they send you on a Work-for-the-Dole assignment to a local charity.
They’re supposed to do risk assessments, and follow up on allegations of groping weirdoes and pedophilia (looking at you, Salvation Army*). But they don’t. [ *that person who did it was literally the Community Member of the Year until the truth of what the local SA was covering up came to light. Fucking creep of a man, so many flags that Jesus absolved him of.]
That nonsense injured two members of my family directly, as well as others; at the same place, at different times, and both were deemed ‘our fault’. Despite that the first incident involved an unqualified asshole making a teenage boy hold a fridge, then deliberately dropping the truck tray fast so it yanked the ligaments in the kid’s shoulder so badly it took 6-12 months to heal with physiotherapy.
And the second time, a bookshelf held up with STICKY-tape was broken by a customer, and fell off slamming into my knees and feet, causing untold agony... resulting in a fractured patella in one knee and severe bruising/clicking/weird shit that persists even a year and a half later... but that was my fault.
-----------------------
In short, each person is assigned up to 55 hours per fortnight that they have to undertake with a charity of some formation. OR ROADWORK - they can also make you do roadwork. Like they tried to do to the just-healed teenage boy the minute his medical exemption period was up, even though he couldn’t raise his arm all the way yet. It’s Making Money, not Helping People Find Jobs.
They also made an app, that the person attending MUST download (even if you have to delete just about every single other thing on the cheap phone to make room for it).
It’s called Jobapp or some shit. Basically, when you get there the manager or head volunteer (often tech illiterate) HAS to print a QR code for you, and only you.
You sign into the app, this takes a while bc it’s not well designed and cuts out often. Finally, you find the hard-to-locate-and-ambiguously-named part where you can ‘sign in’ as being at your ‘activity’.
If you’re there all day, and you will be, there are Two Codes.
You scan them to separate locations in the app. And boom, you’re registered as there. It only takes one missed QR code or app failure to land you in shit, though.
And then you spend all day cleaning, on the till, arguing with people over op shop items bc they feel certain prices are too high even if it’s less than a third the real price. And you’re not allowed to sit or chill or anything... unless you’re a volunteer. They can get away with murder.
So that goes on for six months, slowly draining the will to live from your bones.
All the while, you still have to do the 20-40 jobs things and find time for their Training Modules that you already did but hey, you’re a moneymaker. Sometimes they will NOT count the training days towards your Total 55hours per fortnight, so you lose the one free day a week you had...
---------------
It sucks... but I think the other thing we should mention is that this doesn’t really exclude any jobseekers.
Disabled? Elderly? Medical Issues? Can’t speak english very well? Other issue?
Get in there. We get paid to supervise your activity!
Like, there are a lot of people doing job seeking activities who are unfit for the position they are forced into. For many reasons.
-----------------
The thing I found laughable was that they could apply for you, without your knowledge, and if that resulted in an interview you HAD to go. If they feel you tanked the interview, they can penalise you...
There are ways to tank an interview, though. Trust me.  Especially for telemarketer interviews, just have an awkward phone manner, like you’re trying but it’s Weird. And boom, no. [Not that there’s anything wrong with that job, but they signed me up for it without my permission and some dangerous clients worked there, I would not have been safe, they didn’t care tho].
Also, you can’t apply for certain positions for someone with a degree. Our ability is measured in the way we respond to the questions and assessment requests... you can force us to apply to them, but trying to write in for us is just ridiculous.
They might also call and call and call anyone on your applied-for list that they directed you to apply for... which of course, can tank your chances. Very annoying.
And if you get a job, on your own merit, they take credit for it immediately. I assume there’s a bonus or something.
- - - - -
The agency I was sent to, MaxEmployment, was actually THROWN OUT OF ANOTHER STATE FOR COMMITTING FRAUD AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT.
So naturally, QLD said ‘yeah, let’s have that one’.
M.E. allegedly used to claim they had held mass training events with 80+ people every few weeks, doing those awful little courses listed above.  Except, on inspection by confused governmental officials..,. they discovered the room would barely hold 5-6 people including a trainer. Therefore, fraud.
Also, M.E. has failed to catch fake-ads (resulting in free 2-hour work ‘trials’ for a certain cafe that went over a year, fraud) and even sent an unaccompanied 15 year old girl to a fucking BROTHEL after identifying a clearly-not-for-an-admin ad for ‘an admin’ at that location.
IT’s always MONEY.
--------------------
If you are in charge of the poor, the ill, the desperate... then it should not be for money incentives. You should get a flat wage and that’s it.
Why? Because then people who are actually able to do the job, and willing to help people, will do it. Not just people who see dollar signs when they look at the tired, the unemployed and the ill.
And they need to actually fire bad people.
Let me tell you about this woman I had to deal with in a 6 month break from my fucking uni degree due to illness. Automatically, they threw me into job seeking.  I didn’t have a voice for like 2 months, but that didn’t matter.
This huge, hulking, rotund potato of a woman, balding ranga and a face as mean as a bulldog’s arsehole... was my caseworker person. She was a nightmare.
I would find 20 jobs, and hand in the sheet, she would yell at me, that I was being smart and she wouldn’t accept that. I once applied for nearly 65 jobs in one fortnight out of desperation, because she kept having my centrelink cut off without warning if I refused to complete another sheet.
The other caseworkers never stopped her. The manager would not hear my complaints or concerns. She could do what she wanted.
And she knew I could not stop her. The one thing about the situation that kept me apart form others there was that, if I absolutely couldn’t take it, my parental unit said we would ‘manage’ until I went back to uni the next year. Others were unable to do that, and so, this absolute cunt of a woman... held sway.
She had no class, no charm and no people skills. She screamed at the top of her lungs at a tiny asian lady who a) didn’t have a great grasp on english at the time, and b) did not understand all the big words this self-important ranga was using just to sound intelligent.
Apparently the solution to ‘I do not understand’ is raise your voice, to screaming, and get angry. NONE of her colleagues even looked up at her.  Jesus, if one of my colleagues was yelling like that I’d have dragged them out of the room by their fucking hair, like what the HELL was that about.
Was she stopped or fired? No. Was she transferred to some unsuspecting town? Yeah.
I don’t trust organisations who will not admit they hired the wrong person, and fire them. It means they’re hiding shit.
--------------
TL;DR - The whole system is a disaster.
They claim more people are employed, but they also count people on those mandatory work-for-the-dole things, which skews the unemployment number to less than it is.
It is exhausting to deal with and its no wonder so many fucking people are so depressed death seems like the only solution.
And it was all thanks to a handful of people rorting the system; the idiots up top went into red-alert levels of panic and upended the system to punish people.
AND THAT’S NOT EVEN FUCKING TALKING ABOUT THE NEW BASICS CARD SYSTEM
which is nonsense
sure, limit what people can get to groceries and certain stores, including op shops or whatevs. can’t get smokes or alcohol on the cards...
have to have ID for the cards...
but like, you think people won’t find ways to get the smokes, drugs and alcohol they want? you’ve just ensured that they either pawn their things, or do degrading acts to get those things...
so give yourselves a moralistic high-five, people who decided this system was a great idea (primarily bc they and their family/social circle will never need to use it), because you’ve cause d so many more problems than you solved...
First Impression - Part 2
Genre: Museum!AU
Pairing: Youngjae (Got7) x You
By Admin B
Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Tumblr media
You loved your job. To be honest, you hadn’t expected to, but now you could safely say you really and truly did.
For about three years, you’d been a curator at the art museum. It hadn’t been part of your life plan, though you actually hadn’t even had a life plan to begin with. You were the kind of person to live totally in the present, living life practically day to day and going wherever the wind took you.
You’d only landed this job through a series of lucky - and sometimes slightly odd - happenstances and coincidences. After graduating from college with your Bachelor’s degree in Art, you’d been given the opportunity to intern at a museum back in your hometown. This led you to getting your Master’s in Museum Studies, and a curating job in a city hours away just kind of... landed in your lap. Not really, but things had worked out too well for you to refuse.
So here you were. Three years later, still loving life. Which was quite an accomplishment seeing how resistant (and, dare I say, downright scared) you were regarding anything long-term.
Maybe the reason you loved this job so much was that just about every day was different. You were never bored. Working in a museum was actually a lot more unpredictable than you’d imagined, especially as a curator. Opportunities for new exhibits almost constantly popped up, and you frequently traveled all over to do research and negotiate which artworks would be coming back with you. Plus, the immense pride you felt when an exhibit came together and looked spectacular was something you couldn’t quite explain.
This Renoir exhibit was most definitely the pinnacle of your career so far. You’d traveled to New York, San Francisco, Paris, and London to build this little collection, and if the ticket sales and patron comments were any indications... it was a huge success.
But it was only the second day after opening, so you didn’t want to count your chickens before they hatched.
You were currently out on the gallery floor, observing and wanting to see if maybe the paintings could be arranged better or if the walls were too close together. You wanted all of the visitors to enjoy themselves, but you also didn’t want them touching or even brushing up against any of the pieces.
Things seemed to be going all right, and you had just finished whispering to a security guard to keep an eye on the lady with the huge purse... when someone caught your eye.
You weren’t sure if he’d caught your eye because he’d just been looking at you or if it was simply because he was eye-catching. Either way, you now found yourself studying him.
The way his dark hair hung just so, exposing his forehead. It was shaggy but not messy, and you could so clearly (you weren’t sure why) imagine running your fingers through it. His eyes were curious and sparkling, his lips full and pensive. The way he was focused on the paintings and whatever he was writing made you want to pick his brain. What was he thinking? What was he writing?
And then you noticed he glanced at you. You quickly looked away, glad he wasn’t able to know your heart had started to beat just a little bit faster.
But... why? Why was it beating faster?
You saw people at the museum every single day. What was so special or different about him?
The security guard standing near you shifted his stance, and it was just enough movement to pull you out of your own head. You blinked quickly, your head jerking the tiniest bit.
Come on, you thought to yourself. No time to be daydreaming.
You were at work, after all, and you had to focus on the exhibit.
Not the really cute guy stealing glances at you.
Tumblr media
When you left work that evening, you figured you would completely forget about whoever that guy was by the time you returned the next morning. You would go home, cook some dinner, watch some Netflix, do a face mask, get some sleep... and tomorrow morning, you would sit down at your desk and carry on with work as usual.
So, riddle me this.
It was tomorrow morning. Yesterday was officially behind you, and you were sitting in your comfortable office chair, replying to emails and still thinking about that guy. That dark-haired, wide-eyed, sweet-faced guy. You almost wished there was a plausible way to figure out his name, but you knew that was toeing the line of being a stalker.
Besides. If he enjoyed the exhibit as much as he seemed to, judging by all the notes he’d scribbled down, he would probably be back.
You let out a huff of a sigh, blowing your hair out of your face and attempting to blow thoughts of this mystery guy out of your head. Youd never let any guy distract you from your work before; you would most certainly not be starting today.
Tumblr media
He was here again.
That really cute guy.
It was the third time in two weeks, so you really had to wonder if he was here to admire the Renoir exhibit or if he was here to admire… something else.
Or someone else?
Maybe it was because, despite your efforts, you had been thinking about him for the better part of those two weeks which made you hope he was in the same situation.
Because... you’d asked around. You hadn’t tried to look through the system for his name attached to a ticket, but you’d asked a couple security guards and tour guides if they’d noticed him. If he’d come any other times when you weren’t there.
One security guard, a buff, young man who secretly loved gossip, informed you he, too, had noticed the guy. But he’d only seen him here the three times, just like you had.
So. He only came during your shifts, as far as you knew. Interesting.
Whether or not that was a coincidence…
Well, you wanted to find out. You couldn’t keep your curiosity at bay any longer.
Even though talking to the museum patrons was nowhere to be found in your job description, you walked up to him and cleared your throat gently.
“Hi, can I help you with anything?” you asked, smiling politely.
He smiled back at you, though his smile was a lot brighter and more beaming than yours. It kind of made your heart skip a beat if you were being honest.
Tumblr media
Damn, he’s got a perfect set of teeth.
“I actually have a lot of questions about the new exhibit,” he told you with a soft, somewhat timid laugh, breaking through your super random thought about his teeth.
“Oh?” you breathed. “Well… I’m the curator, I can tell you anything you need to know.”
“Really?” He looked surprised (and incredibly adorable), so you nodded.
“Really,” you smirked. And then you held your hand out and introduced yourself.
“Youngjae,” he replied as he shook your hand.
“Shall we?” You held your arm out, gesturing toward the rest of the exhibit.
The two of you began slowly strolling through the gallery, stopping at each piece for however long it took you to answer Youngjae’s questions. He had a lot, which was not surprising, but you easily supplied all the answers.
“You really know which questions to ask,” you pointed out as you stepped away from Dance at Bougival.
Youngjae smiled bashfully, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. “Well, I’m an art student.”
“Are you?” Oh, god, if he was an art student, he was much too young for you, damn it--
“I’m getting my Master’s in Art History,” he continued, much to your relief. Like, literally, you almost let out an audible sigh because thank the lord. A graduate student, not an undergraduate student. “I’m actually in my last semester, writing my thesis on Impressionism.”
“Aha,” you chuckled. “That would explain why you’re here.”
He nodded, and you could’ve sworn you saw his cheeks flush a little.
“You know,” you began, stopping in front of Dance in the City. “I have to admit. I’ve… noticed this isn’t your first time here.”
Youngjae blushed a little, his smile growing ever wider and even more bashful. “Yeah, I just – it’s for my thesis, and I wanted to –”
Everything about his expression and his body language (he was currently gently kicking the ground and slightly avoiding eye contact with you and drumming his fingers against his jeans) told you he hadn’t come here just for the art.
So you had to assume he’d felt that same strange, intangible pull you’d felt toward him.
“I’m not a tour guide or anything,” you interrupted. “But I know just about all there is to know about Renoir and a few other Impressionist painters. I would be happy to... maybe sit down and go through your thesis with you? If you’re having trouble with it.”
Youngjae’s head snapped up, his eyebrows raised halfway up his forehead as he looked at you with surprise. “You -- really?”
“Absolutely. I was a grad student once myself, not too long ago. And I’ve just spent the last couple months putting this exhibit together. My brain is in full-on Impressionism mode,” you told him with a chuckle. “I can give you my email?”
Because, to be quite honest, giving your phone number to a museum guest - and one you’d just met - was a little crazy. Right?
...Right?
You were probably overthinking the situation, but whatever.
“Oh -- oh, sure,” Youngjae nodded. He flipped to an empty page in his notebook, turning it toward you and handing you his pen.
You quickly jotted down your email, a soft smile pulling at your lips as you wondered if anything would even come of this. Maybe your assumption was totally off-base, and he really was just here for the art.
But he at least had your email address now. If you heard from him, great. If you didn’t, you would get over it. I mean, there was really nothing to get over at this point. You’d never been one to dwell on the past, anyway, so you were used to taking these small kinds of risks.
“You’re sure about this?” Youngjae asked when you gave him his pen back.
“Very. I love talking about art,” you assured him. “It would be selfish of me to keep all this knowledge to myself!”
A quiet laugh escaped Youngjae’s lips, and even though it was quiet, it was enough to melt your heart. You instantly wanted to hear him laugh fully. A loud, robust laugh. In fact, you wanted to make him laugh.
(You were almost second-guessing your own thoughts about being fine with him never contacting you...)
You were just about to start talking about Dance in the City, but you saw a flurry of movement out of the corner of your eye. Your brow furrowed as your gaze shifted, seeing your boss standing nearby and waving you over.
“Excuse me,” you murmured to Youngjae before slipping away and hurrying over.
“What are you doing?” your boss asked with a curious chuckle.
“Oh, I just -- he’s an art student, I was offering to help --” You realized he probably didn’t even really care, so you cut yourself off. “What’s going on?”
“Did you forget about lunch?”
...Yes. Yes, you had. You remembered now that your boss had announced a celebratory lunch for you and the staff members who’d helped you with the exhibit. He was taking you all to a nearby four-star restaurant, and you would surely get a little too tipsy from all the wine you’d drink. But if your boss was paying for it, could you really refuse?
You spared a glance back at Youngjae, but he was too busy studying the painting to notice your gaze on him.
I mean... you’d talked to him. You’d given him a way to contact you. Sure, you would like to continue talking to him, but there was no way you would choose a guy you’d just met over free lunch courtesy of your boss.
So you simply shifted your eyes back to your boss, smiled softly, and nodded.
“Lunch, of course. Lead the way, sir!”
Tumblr media
You’d thought Youngjae hadn’t been paying attention when you’d glanced back at him. And he’d done a good job of looking like he was studying the painting.
But he’d been watching you out of the corner of his eye.
Not watching in a creepy way, of course. Just... watching. Waiting to see what was going to happen.
He was, as you can imagine, a bit disappointed when you left. He wasn’t expecting you to come and say good-bye to him or anything, but... still. He’d been having an excellent time asking you questions, actually getting to talk to you.
But he had your email, at least. And if you thought, for some reason, he wasn’t going to contact you... oh, how wrong you were.
Youngjae slid his backpack around so he could slip his notebook inside and enjoy the rest of the exhibit (though his mind was a bit distracted, thinking through the fairly long encounter he’d just had with the magnetic curator he’d been daydreaming about for days now).
About an hour later, Youngjae was making his way out of the museum. He’d skipped yet another French class for this, so he felt like he needed to go to his professor’s office and ask if there was any extra credit work he could do to make up for the time he’d missed.
When he passed the front desk, though, a sign caught his eye. Just like he had a couple of weeks ago when another sign caught his eye, he stopped walking, his foot lifted up in mid-air. He took some steps backward. He read the sign again.
Interns wanted. Apply here if interested.
3.1 Townhouse Brief Cont’d - Living Room
This weekend I have concentrated on getting my admin sorted (spreadsheets!) so I can keep track of all the items I have chosen/need to choose/samples to order etc.
I have also changed the layout of the living room! I couldn’t get the rug to sit properly in the space because of the door opening onto the rug (depending on the rug thickness this could be an issue, imagine the door catching on the rug everytime you open it!). So the rug would have had to either a) be smaller or b) move over towards the window and therefore not sit in with the location of the sofa. A smaller rug looked like a ‘rug island’ which is generally a no-no, and of course the final rug options were limited in sizes available.
So I changed the sofa around to the opposite side of the room with the alcove behind it and I actually prefer it. It feels ‘right’, sometimes you just know when you see something that it works better and this is one of those times!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m also veering towards having more colour on the walls, but I am waiting for some samples to arrive first so I can see whether the wallpaper I have in mind works with the scheme.
I’m still finding this really challenging, mainly because there is no client feedback. In my day job as a Kitchen Designer, the focus is on the client and you build up a relationship with them, get to know them, meet them in person (or, as per the current pandemic situation, by Zoom!) and gauge their reactions when you show them samples, presentations etc. This is of course an assignment where the client is fictional and it is more about learning about the process, but I still want to get the design right! I am trying to move through the assignment more quickly now, trying to be more decisive, but it is tricky.
Lots more to do, as follows:
- order and receive samples, check against visual concept
- Complete the inked plan now I have decided on the final layout!
- Keep updating spreadsheets with any items added or changed
- Draw out and render the window treatment for the reception room windows (currently this is curtains but I need to consider blinds too).
- Design on SketchUp or ArtiCAD the bespoke cabinetry for alcoves - make this quick and simple!
- Produce 2 x A3 sampleboards (hence why I sorted all my samples this weekend and are starting to get them ready for mounting/presentation)
- Section Drawing (by hand)
- Furniture and Equipment Presentation (Word doc, PPT or I may use Canva because the editing capabilities are better)
- Client Talk through. I may use Loom for this so I can present the digital presentation on screen.
God, that’s an overwhelming list. After this assignment are several more, including Lighting Plans, an axonometric drawing and Colour rendering. CAN TOTALLY DO THIS!
Tell Me
Pairing: TBZ’s Kevin x OC [Yeon] || SKZ’s Minho x OC [Seul] Genre: college!au, slice of life, slight fluff Word Count: 6,060 Summary: Yeon and Seul are helping out their sorority with their fundraiser, but the two aren’t part of any of the booths, yet they somehow get involved by another party.
Warning: curse words... and... I think that’s all.
okay! the first time i put Stray Boyz together in a story! although not really interacting, but it is implied. lol Sigma Tau Beta is (stay the b, which is stray kids and the boyz’s fandom names while Beta Delta Nu is based upon their debut songs (boy by tbz and district 9 by skz) other than that that’s about it and i had fun writing this. happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~
Yeon and Seul were in charged of making sure that their sorority sisters had everything they needed to run their booths proficiently for their Beta Delta Nu fundraiser for The House of Sharing. It was one of their annual events they did and wanted to make sure to raise more money than they did last year like every year. Anyways, the sisters were currently making deliveries of drinks, snacks, and materials to the six booths they were running on the school's campus. Yeon was in charge of the Dunk Tank, Karaoke Time, and the Art Gallery where as Seul managed the Intimacy Booth, Picture Time, and Snack Bar.
"Alright, here's you guys' stuff." Yeon informed her fellow members as she dropped off a large bag of items for the three girls to use who were currently running the Dunk Tank before the next set of girls took over. "Anything else?"
"Yeah." Jiyoon responded as she was free compare to the other two.
"Hmm?"
Jiyoon glanced at her mischievously before facing the line that was waiting their turn to throw the ball.
"Who ever dunks Goeun first will win a date with our very own, Lee Yeon!" Jiyoon announced happily as Yeon smacked her.
"What? That's not how it works." Yeon muttered at her harshly, but Jiyoon shrugged her shoulders with an aloof smile.
"Oh, well, it's another way we can raise money for the charity. Besides, you even offered yourself as a prize when we were discussing about it at the meeting."
"When?"
"Yesterday."
"I was joking."
"Well, it's not a joke now."
Jiyoon nudged Yeon as Yeon nudged her back out of annoyance.
"It was a sarcastic joke. I wasn't being literal."
"I know."
"Jerk."
Jiyoon laughed as Yeon nudged her once more in annoyance.
"C'mon people! Pay Minjoo to get three tries and if you get it on the first try and dunk me, you get to go on a date with Lee Yeon after this whole thing is over! Plus you'll be helping a great cause!" Goeun cheered happily as Yeon glared at her before speaking. "I'ma dunk you myself, Goeun."
Goeun stuck her tongue out at her before she suddenly felt herself descend into the water a second later.
"And it looks like we have our winner that has won a date with Yeonnie!" Minjoo announced happily while making jazz hands at the male. "Tadah!"
Yeon let out a low groan while making a face upon seeing one of the campus' heartthrobs, Kevin Moon, who was also a member of the popular fraternity, Sigma Tau Beta, standing there with a wide smile in her direction.
"Oh, would you look at that. It seems that I won on the first try." Kevin stated in a nonchalant manner with a smile.
"That's not fair! He totally front cut all of us when we were waiting longer just now!" A male shouted from the back, but Minjoo dismissed his remark.
"Kevin paid and donated a higher number than originally and was allowed V.I.P status."
Minjoo continued on with the dunking as Goeun climbed back onto the bench while Jiyoon called over Kevin. By the time he walked on over though Yeon had already disappeared.
"Um, where did she go?" Kevin asked as he and Jiyoon looked around them, but Yeon was no where in sight.
"Hmm, she probably went to finish the rest of her errands, but don't worry. You're totally guaranteed that date, Kevin." Jiyoon confirmed with a playful smile. "She may be heading over to the Art Gallery next. You'll probably catch her there."
"Alright, thanks, Jiyoon." Kevin said with a smile before waving her off and heading towards the said booth.
"Oh, yes, Seul! You're a life savior!" Ayeon stated in a relieved tone. "We just ran out of hand sanitizers and wipes."
Ayeon took the bags from Seul and sift through it to find the two items she was looking for as Seul laughed.
"That must mean it's going quite well, yeah?"
"You have no idea. Hyorin's been kissing left to right while Yewon has been hugging and kissing left to right."
"And you?"
"All the above."
Ayeon made a face while smearing on a bit of hand sanitizer as Seul laughed again.
"Well, that's good. Also, I got you guys the dragon fruit drinks y'all wanted and each of you a double fudge cookie, too. Let the other two, know, too, Ayeon."
"Got it."
"Okay, I'm gonna get going to the Picture Time since a few of the participants ran off with a few of the props. Well, from what Jimin has told me."
"Alright, thanks again, Seul."
"You're welcome."
Just as Seul was about to leave she suddenly heard her name being called by Hyorin.
"What up, Hyorin?"
"He says he wants a kiss from you." Hyorin said with a smile as she pointed at the male who Seul recognized as one of Sigma Tau Beta's popular member and a very charming one at that, Lee Minho.
"Did you tell him that I wasn't part of this booth?" Seul asked as Hyorin nodded while answering. "Yeah, but he offered this."
Hyorin held up a bank note that was clearly two times more than the asking price they had set up originally. Because of this it had halted the other participants to receive their own perks from the other two girls. Seul walked over to Hyorin, plucked the money from her hand, set it down on the table, and slid it over to Minho.
"Hi there. I'm sorry, but I'm not part of this booth and so won't be giving out any of the perks." Seul said with a feign smile. "If you would kindly leave we need to get back to our activities, please.Thank you and have a good evening."
Minho just smirked as he placed another bank note on top of the one she had pushed back at him and slid it back towards her.
"This is a fundraiser, right, Seul? You do wanna help the charity that you're trying to raise funds, right?" He asked in condescending-like tone that was more musing than patronizing.
"Yes it is and yes I wanna help out the charity that Beta Delta Nu is doing a fundraiser for."
"Then it's all for a good cause."
"Yeah, Seul. It's all for a good cause. It's really not that bad." Yewon assured her friend as Seul side glanced her before glancing back at Minho.
"You can ask the three who are helping running the Intimacy Booth as it's just the same thing."
"But don't you want my money?"
Minho picked up the two bills and slightly waved them in front of Seul in a taunting manner. Seul rolled her eyes, but kept calm.
"I, personally, don't want your money, but yes I would love your money to help out those at The House of Sharing."
"What's going on?! Can we get the line moving!" A male shouted from the back of the line which caused the quartet to glance at one another.
Ayeon came up from behind Seul and whispered in her ear. "It's just a kiss, Seul, but then again, you can if you want. You don't have to do it."
"Clearly, but he's adamant about wanting one and isn't leaving." Seul whispered back.
The other two joined in on the private conversation.
"So what do you want to do, Seul?" Hyorin asked. "I mean, I can offer the kiss or Yewon can."
"That or we both can." Yewon suggested. "We were the ones to sign up for this and the others who'll take over the next shift, but not you."
"It's whatever. How long is the kiss for?"
"Just a few seconds." The trio replied.
"How long is a few seconds?"
"Five seconds tops." Hyorin answered.
"Okay. A kiss is a kiss and if it helps our sorority and the charity, then it's a win-win." Seul gave in not wanting to drag this any long and wanting to get this done and over with.
"Just a kiss, right?" Seul asked directing the question as Minho.
He nodded.
"And then you'll leave and go on your merry way so that the others can enjoy themselves?"
Minho nodded again with a smirk.
"Fine, throw in another bill and I'll give you a kiss."
Seul said with a smirk as Minho's face turned to one of surprised before recovering with another charming smile.
"Sure."
Minho brought out a third bill and held it with the others in one hand while Seul leaned forward and grabbed his shirt to pull him towards her which caught Minho off guard by her sudden action. Seul's smirked grew wider before placing her lips against his. To the on-lookers, it seemed like forever, but to Seul she counted the seconds down before breaking the kiss and letting go of Minho's shirt. She plucked the money from out of his hand with a satisfied smile.
"Thank you for your contribution, Lee Minho! The ladies of The House of Sharing appreciate your kindness and generosity." Seul said in a customer service like voice before turning around and handing the money to Ayeon and bidding her fellow sisters a goodbye and wave.
Seul didn't bother to glance at Minho to see his reaction as she had other things to take care of.
"Hello, ladies." Yeon greeted two of the girls running the singing booth.
"Yeon! Yes! Gimme, gimmie, gimmie." Jieun chanted as she took one of the bags from Yeon and went through it to find her snacks.
"Is she okay?" Yeon whispered to the other girl, Yaxin.
"She's been picked as the sing-a-long partner since we started and she's running low on energy." Yaxin explained with a chuckle.
"Then why not take her spot for some of them?"
"She won't let me."
As if on cue, Jieun, was chosen as a sing-a-long partner and she dashed off to join the female participant without hesitation.
"See what I mean?" Yaxin said with a shrug.
"Ah, yeah, but you could have stopped her."
"I could, but I won't."
"Then why join Karaoke Time when you're not in the mood?"
"It's easier than the others and I don't really have to do anything."
"True."
"Anyways, a last minute date with the Kevin Moon, eh?" Yaxin mused while shooting Yeon a suggestive expression.
"Psh, it's not even like that and how did you even know?"
Yaxin held up her phone.
"Jiyoon put it in the group chat."
"Of course she would. I'ma dunk her in the water once this is over."
"What's wrong with the date though? Kevin's a nice guy."
"And so?"
"I thought you wanted to date? You did offered yourself as that prize for this."
"It was just a joke. A joke." Yeon huffed with a roll of her eyes. "Don't y'all get my sarcasm by now?"
"We do, but we take it seriously just to mess with ya."
"Hah, funny. Not. Anyways, I wanted to go with the flow and if it happens, it happens. Besides, Sigma Tau Beta guys are too full of themselves."
"He's actually a sweetheart and a total dork. Kinda your type."
"I don't have a type."
"Yeah, you do."
"And what's that, Yaxin?"
"A guy who's smile reaches his eyes."
"Shut up. He doesn't have nice eyes or a smile."
"It's because you don't see him like that, that's why. Also, you have him in like a few of your classes. How could you not have noticed those gorgeous smiles and eyes, hmm?"
"Because I just do my work and pay attention in class, duh."
"Girl. Sigma Tau Beta and Beta Delta Nu are associated with one another. We have a lot of social gatherings and events with one another this past year. You must be hella blind or something."
"Whatever, Yaxin. Don't care. Let's not talk about him. Do you guys need anything else?"
"Yeah, I want you and your little date-in-waiting to sing a duet."
Yaxin pointed behind her with a playful smile and Yeon turned her head to see that Kevin was in the crowd enjoying the performance of Jeonghee and the female participant. Yeon whipped her head to glare at Yaxin while backhanding Yaxin's arm.
"Hell no. I can't sing."
"He can though and he even plays the piano and guitar. Ohh, he used to play the saxophone, too."
"Not the point, Yaxin."
Just then Yeon felt her phone vibrate and went to check it before putting it away.
"Anyways, I gotta get going. Seohee, Sally and Christina need more paper and color ink. Later."
Yaxin grabbed a hold of Yeon's arm.
"Aww, but you two would be so cute singing together."
"Then you can sing with Kevin, Yaxin. Because you can definitely sing and I can't, so y'all would look cuter."
"You do know that he likes you, right?"
Yaxin finally admitted as Yeon looked at her weirdly.
"You're kidding, right? This isn't some weird attempt for your own amusing, yeah?"
"No, no. The girls and I might have well tried getting the two of you together for the past year."
"Yaxin, seriously?"
"I'm sorry, Yeon, but it's so painful to watch Kevin try to muster up the courage to ask you out, but he bails at the last second and makes a fool of himself."
"This is college, not high school, Yaxin."
"Ugh, whatever, Yeon, but I'm telling you the truth. Kevin likes you. Also, Seul mentioned that you thought Kevin was pretty cute, too, and it made it easier."
"Yeah, he's cute, but that doesn't really anything."
"Seul says that when you think someone's cute it means that you start developing a crush on them later on."
"I'ma dunk Seul in a tank of water, too."
"So you're not denying it? That's a good thing."
"No comment, but later. Need to get to the Art Gallery."
Yeon tugged her arm from Yaxin's grip and waved her off before dashing away.
Seul arrived at the photo booth and set down the bags before rummaging through them to find the props needed. After finding them she looked up to hand the items to Jimin, Yerin, or Sori, but they were preoccupy by the many people wanting to take photos.
"Hmm, this one should definitely bring in the money, but I feel bad for whoever has to upload the images and set it all up though. Oh well, it ain't me though."
Seul laughed at what she said while wondering if she should ask Sori to teach her how to actually operate a DSLR camera. It seemed fun and she wanted to at least try it once. Seul also thought that the people may have wanted an actual machine picture booth, but noticed that they were enjoying themselves with their pictures being taken by Sori. She knew Sori would capture the moments amazingly.
"Ohh, Seul! You're here." Jimin finally noticed her fellow member as she took a moment to step away from the activity going on and hugged Seul. "Please switch with me. This is so much more work than I thought."
"Uh, no."
"Oh, well. At least I tried."
Jimin removed her arms from Seul and looked over at their friends.
"Yerin is a pro, bro. She's been smiling non-stop and I thought her face might stay like that."
Seul laughed with a nod.
"Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. She does have a sweet face."
"Are you saying I don't have a sweet face?"
"You do, but you also have a mouth on you."
"True."
Yerin then popped her head around to find Jimin.
"Jimin, get over here. Hi, Seul!"
"Hey, Yerin! I brought you your curry chicken."
"Thanks! I'll eat it later."
Jimin nudged Seul.
"What about me?"
Seul rolled her eyes with a smile.
"Don't worry. I got your banana milk and cheesecake, too."
"Aww thanks. I knew I could count on you."
"Mmhmm. Also, let Sori know I got her, her favorite snacks."
"The pudding packets?"
"Mmhmm."
"JIMIN!" Both Sori and Yerin called for the girl and Jimin finally returned to her duties.
Seul laughed at her friend while waving at Sori before feeling another presence stand beside her. She took a step to her left while casting the person a look.
"So what are you doing here?" She asked Minho.
Minho shot her a smile before looking at the people taking photos.
"I came to take a picture, of course."
"Oh, cool. Your generosity is so much appreciated."
"Is that sarcasm?"
"Nope. I'm just saying. Anyways, have fun. Sori takes amazing pictures."
Seul cast him a smile as Minho frowned at her.
"Where are you going?"
"The Snack Bar. Bye."
Just as Seul had turned away Minho reached out a hand to stop her. Seul turned her head to look at where his hand was on her upper arm before looking at him with a questioningly look.
"Won't you join me?" He asked while motioning his head towards the picture booth.
"I'm not a part of Picture Time." She clarified before giving him a suspicious look. "Just like I wasn't a part of the Intimacy Booth."
"If I pay double, then would you do it?"
"Triple it and I would."
"Are you sure you don't want my money?"
Seul ignored his question and answered with a question of her own instead.
"Do you like me or something like that?"
"What makes you say that?"
"Because you're paying an awful lot to do something with someone when they're not running that particular booth. That's why."
Before Minho could reply, the duo suddenly heard squeals from girls in another sorority gush about seeing Minho here upon arriving at the photo booth. Minho let go of Seul to greet the group of girls as they surrounded him causing Seul to be pushed away. She shook her head at the scene and left for the Snack Bar even though she caught Minho's gaze, but she wasn't gonna wait for an answer when she had better things to do.
"Yeon, can I draw on your face?" Sally asked Yeon upon seeing her bring them their supplies.
"No." Yeon deadpanned with a shake of her head.
"Please? I'm open and the other two are occupy."
"Please, Yeon. Enlighten Sally." Seohee pleaded as she was drawing a face mask on the girl opposite her.
"Yes, Yeon. Please." Christina added with a begging look "Or she'll mope about drawing on herself if there's not a customer waiting in line."
Yeon made a face as Sally shot her a puppy-eyed look.
"Please? Plus, I have no more space to draw on myself."
Yeon glanced at her friend's body to see that she was covered in colorful designs.
"So this booth isn't that busy then?"
"Oh, it's busy." Sally explained. "Just like what Christina said I draw on myself in-between the participants."
"Fine. I have nothing else to do. How much is it again?"
"Free of charge since you're a Sigma Delta Nu member. How did you forget?"
"Dunno, but okay."
Yeon sat down on the plastic chair opposite Sally and let Sally draw on her face.
"What do you want?" Sally asked as Yeon shrugged before answering. "Surprise me."
Sally smiled as she dipped her utensil in the palette with one hand before taking Yeon's chin in the other hand and having Yeon's right cheek as the canvas. After a few minutes Sally held up a handheld mirror for Yeon to see what she had drawn. Yeon cast her an annoyed look.
"Hey, you said to surprise you." Sally stated with a laugh. "And so there you go."
"Yeah, but I meant like a cat or flower, Sally. Not a crescent moon with the Sigma Tau Beta logo surrounded by three mini hearts."
"Oh c'mon. It's kinda cute. Plus I read about the whole Kevin date thing and so that's where I got inspired by the hearts and the idea of the moon was because of his last name."
"Och. You guys are so annoying. I swear."
"Anyways, Yeon. How about a waterproof airbrush tattoo?"
"A what?"
"It's a fake tattoo using the airbrush tool like they use for shirts and stuff. This one is safe to use on the skin. Look."
Sally moved her leg so that Yeon could see where she was pointing to on her lower calf of a heart design with a rose in the colors of white and blue.
"That's cute." Yeon commented.
"So do you want one?" Sally asked after returning back to position.
"Sure. Make it like yours, but I want black for the heart and gold for the rose."
Yeon held out her left arm with the palm facing up.
"I want it just above my wrist, Sally." Yeon said while indicating the spot.
"Sure thing, Yeon."
Sally grab an airbrush in one hand and the stencil in the other as she brushed on the design for Yeon. Less than a minute later it was all done.
"That looks pretty cool, but did you really have to add in his initials?" Yeon asked with a roll of her eyes. "I knew I had a feeling that something was wrong when you were using a pen to add something else."
"Of course!"
"Are we back in grade school?"
"No, but it's all for fun, Yeon."
"Oh yeah, of course, Sally. Anyways, how long does it last?"
"About two weeks, but less if you shower and scrub at it."
"Okay, I'll make sure to scrub super hard later tonight."
"Don't be mean. I work really hard."
"I know, but thanks."
Yeon thanked her while standing up.
"Thanks for being a very patient and cooperative customer." Sally thanked her with a smile as Yeon made a face.
"You're so funny, Sally, but you're welcome. Anyways, I'm going back to the house."
"Oh, you're not staying?"
"Yup. I was only in charge of delivering supplies and food when you guys need it. So, I'm going back and only come back out if ya need more stuff."
"Wow. Great support."
"Mmhmm. Just call or text me if you run out of things."
"Will do. Thanks again, Yeon."
"Yup. Bye ladies."
"Bye, Yeon!" The other two bid her goodbye as Yeon left the Art Gallery.
"There ya go, Janet. The cooler is stocked with more drinks and the containers with more hot and ready to serve food is in those containers over there." Seul said as she pointed to the section next to the cooler. "Also, Shasha and Lixin should be bringing more baked goods in a few minutes."
"Awesome. Thanks, Seul." Janet said as she handed her a guava can that Seul took.
"No problem. Oh and I exchanged your bigger bills for smaller bills and placed them in here. Just let the other girls know so that they don't lose it or try to use it."
"Got it and thanks again, Seul. Did you want anything else?"
"Ah yes. Thank you and you're welcome." Seul said as she took the offered item. "Do you still have the ube truffles and the thai tea brownies?"
"Definitely. Hold on. I'll get you both."
Janet went to collect the said items for Seul as Seul waited. After a few minutes it wasn't Janet that came back with Seul's snacks, but another B-D-N member.
"Oh, hey, Yein." Seul greeted with a smile as she took the snacks from Yein.
"Hey yourself." Yein said with a smile while showing a bubble tea drink in her other hand that she had hidden. "I also made you a pistachio boba."
"Ohh, nice. Thank you!"
Seul took a sip of the drink and relished in the taste.
"Wow. So delicious. Definitely extra yummy thanks to you."
"Of course. I always make them with extra hate."
Yein smirked as Seul smiled and took another sip.
"The best. Thanks, Yein. Anyways, I'll see you guys later. I'ma explore the rest of the booths."
"Alright and have fun, especially with kissing boys for extra the price."
"How did you find out about that?"
"Hyorin put it in the group chat since Jiyoon mentioned something about Yeon having a date with Kevin from Sigma Tau Beta."
"I haven't checked my phone, but Kevin is cute and pretty cool guy. Hopefully she won't bail on the date. As for the kissing one, it was for The House of Sharing, duh."
Yein nodded while dismissing her friend's words.
"Sure it was, Seul. Sure."
Yein cast Seul a pointed look.
"Last I remember, you wouldn't even kiss Mark from Gamma Omega Tau or Brian from Delta Alpha Upsilon. And they're just as popular as Minho of Sigma Tau Beta."
Seul shrugged in an aloof manner as Yein continued to speak.
"Oh, c'mon. You wouldn't even go on that double date with me."
"Because the guy you were trying to have me date is a total douche and such a pig."
"Okay, true once I realized he was like that since the guy I was dating at the time put in such a good word for him."
"Mmhmm."
"Alright, Seul, but you do have to admit that it was kind of bold of you to kiss Minho like that. Even if it was for a good cause."
"You can think and say whatever you want, Yein. I'm not gonna confirm anything for y'all." Seul said with a wave of her hand. "So yeah, anyways, call or text me for more supplies. I'm gonna get me an airbrush tat. Bye."
"Alright, will do. Bye."
When Yeon arrived at her sorority house she came upon Kevin who was already waiting and sitting on the front steps.
"Uh, hi." Yeon greeted him with an amused smile. "Did you run all the way here when one of them told you I would be coming back here?"
"What? No. No." Kevin answered sheepishly despite clearly trying to catch his breath and hiding the fact he did just that.
"Mmhmm." She hummed as she walked up the steps.
Yeon debated if she just wanted to ignore him and enter inside like nothing had been going on all evening, but she didn't want to seem like a total jerk for doing so. She decided to see where it would go and took a seat on the top step, but kept a good amount of space between them. Yeon glanced at Kevin who was looking down at his own feet. She decided to cut to the chase to get to the point.
"So are you gonna confess that you like me and tell me all that good stuff like they do in movies and books?"
Kevin whipped his head to look at her in surprised before glancing back down at his feet while playing with his fingers in a nervous manner. Yeon silently chuckled at his reaction and looked towards the now darkening sky. Kevin took that moment to glance on over at Yeon and followed her gaze towards the sky. His eyes returned back onto her figure and caught sight of the thing on her right face. He peered closer to inspect if his eyes was messing with him, but they weren't. Yeon felt Kevin coming closer and turned to stare at him.
"I didn't ask for this." Yeon informed Kevin. "My housemate decided to tease me and drew it. The same with this."
She held up her left arm for Kevin to see and he leaned closer to have a better view. He backed away a few seconds later while letting out an awkward, but cute laugh.
"Is it that bad?" He asked more to himself than towards Yeon.
"Not really, but if you're talking about your obvious crush on me, then I guess so if my housemates and sister are trying to push for it."
"I'm sorry if it's a burden, Yeon." Kevin apologized as he grew fluster due to his feelings and the current situation at hand. "I'm not like trying to force anything out of it or for you to like me back or anything of the sort."
"Kevin, It's fine. You're not doing anything of the sort." Yeon reassured him with a laugh. "If you were, then I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed or pressured. I just feel more annoyed with their meddling. Plus, Seul's such a big-mouth with revealing my secrets."
"Your secrets?"
"I think you're cute, too, but I don't really focus on the whole relationship thing. I never did. It was just school. family, friends, and life. I just go with the flow."
"Oh." Kevin let out in a dejected tone without noticing it as his gaze returned back to look at his feet.
"That doesn't mean we can't hang out and see if it develops into something more."
"Oh?" Kevin's tone of voice changed as he glanced at Yeon with an eager look.
Yeon nodded with a small smile.
"Just don't ask me to sing though."
"Oh, but Yaxin told me that I should though and have our date at the singing booth since you like to sing."
"Yeah, no. I can sing, but I can't sing well. Just let me tell you that." Yeon scoffed. "Forget what she said. She's wrong and doesn't know what she's talking about."
Kevin chuckled as he nodded.
"Okay. Then what do you want to do?"
"Well, I was gonna watch a movie and snack on whatever is in the fridge, but I'm assuming you would rather do something else?"
"No. We can watch a movie, but shouldn't you be around for your fundraiser?"
"Oh, I'll be around. Don't worry about that. Anyways, we can watch movies here. C'mon."
Yeon motioned with her head towards the house as she stood up.
"Unless it's too soon for you to come inside."
She chuckled with a teasing look as Kevin shook his head while also standing up.
"Nope. Not at all. Lead the way."
"Good, because I hope you like Disney and Pixar movies."
"I do. Can we watch Up?"
"Ohh, yeah, we can. I love little Russell."
Kevin happily followed Yeon inside Beta Delta Nu.
"I didn't think you could draw this well, Seohee." Seul commented after admiring the small endless knot design on her inner left wrist. "This is really cute, thanks."
"No problem. It was fun. If it was a real tattoo, then it would've hurt." Seohee stated as Seul agreed. "Oh, I know. I want one, but don't think I can deal with the pain."
"Oh, me too, girl. Me too. Anyways, did you want anything else? I thought you wanted an airbrush tattoo, too?"
"Uh, nah. It's fine. This will do. Thanks again, Seohee. See all y'all later."
"Bye." The trio bid her goodbye as they returned to the customers before them as Seul went to check out another booth.
"Hmm, where to next?" Seul wondered out loud as she left the Art Gallery and made her way in a random direction.
Too busy minding her own business Seul didn't notice that Minho had come up from behind her. Minho followed for a few seconds with a playful expression on his face. He mischievously kicked at her right heel that was in mid-step and instead of going in front of her, Seul's right foot connected with her left calf and she ended up tripping over herself. Before she could fall forward, Minho speedily walked in front of her to catch her.
"Whoa there. You alright? Gotta watch your step there." Minho said in a concern tone even though he wanted to laugh out loud.
Seul cast him a suspicious look while trying to right herself and out of his arms.
"Tell me that you didn't just trip me so I can fall into your arms, Lee Minho."
"Okay, I won't."
Seul scoffed with a roll of her eyes while moving pass Minho and continuing her walk.
"Hey, where are you going?"
"Away from you."
Minho ran after her to match her pace.
"Aww, why? Did I have that big of an impression on you?"
"No."
"Is it about the girls that surrounded me earlier?"
"No. You can do whatever you want and hang out with whoever you want. I'm not your girlfriend or your mom."
"Do you though?"
Seul cast him a weird look making Minho realized what he had said.
"I meant the part about being my girlfriend. Not my mom."
Seul chuckled, but didn't answer him.
"So?"
Seul still didn't give him an answer.
"Are you just gonna go back to ignoring me then like you've done the past school year and so?"
The corners of Seul's mouth lifted, but she didn't answer the male. Minho scowled before a sudden thought flashed across his mind and his scowl turned to one of mischievousness. He instantly took a hold of Seul's hand and tugged them in the opposite direction.
"Hey!" Seul called out as she tried to keep up and not trip over her feet. "Let go of me!"
Seul tried to tug her hand out of his grip, but Minho held on firmly.
"Lee Minho."
Seul said his name, but Minho didn't respond. Too busy trying to break free, Seul didn't notice where Minho was leading the both of them until she practically ran into him when he stopped moving.
"Oof."
Minho glanced over his shoulder to cast her a smile.
"What are you smiling about? You practically dragged me from wherever I was going to go to..."
Seul trailed off as her eyes took in the Picture Time booth before returning them back on Minho.
"Why did you bring me here?"
"Because you owe me some pictures."
"I don't owe you anything."
"Not even if I pay more than the amount?"
"Honestly, Minho, you can do whatever you want with your money, but you ain't trying to buy me off just to do things with you. I'm sure there are other girls who are willing to do that in my place."
"Then what do I gotta do to get your attention and for you to spend some time with me?"
"Just tell me." Seul said in a firm tone. "It's not that hard. I hate people who bullshit and like playing games. All you gotta do is get straight to the point. That's it."
Minho was quiet for a bit before nodding.
"Okay. That's it?"
"Basically."
"Alright, Seul. I like you and I wanna get to know you better."
"Okay."
"Whoa, that's fast. Just like that?"
"Mmhmm. You do you as I silently judge you while making an assessment if we're gonna go farther."
"Wow."
Minho then shot her smirk.
"What did you think of my kiss?"
"It's alright."
Minho's smirk dropped.
"What do you mean 'it's alright'? It's superb."
Seul shrugged in an aloof manner.
"I dunno, but it's okay. I dunno who's been building up your ego your whole life."
Seul chuckled after saying that and was about to make her great escape, but forgot that her hand was still in Minho's. He instantly tugged her back towards him as her body clashed against his. He immediately wrapped his arms around her to prevent her from running off.
"I declare a do-over." Minho suggested as Seul shook her head.
"Why not?"
"Because my kisses are a once-in-a-lifetime and you already had your chance."
"How else am I going to get to know you better if I can't prove to you that my kisses are superior to all the other guys you've kissed?"
Seul scoffed.
"We're not even a couple so why should you and I be kissing in the first place?"
"That can change."
"Oh, yeah?"
Seul said just to amuse him a Minho shot her a charming smile.
"You can get mad at me for doing this, but please don't hate me for the rest of our lives."
Before Seul could ask what he meant by his words she soon felt his lips on hers. Minho broke the kiss a few seconds later with a satisfied smile.
"Now you can't deny that my kisses aren't superb."
"I can definitely deny you a date though." Seul countered with a smirk before pulling him along to the photo booth to take pictures. "C'mon. Now you gotta pay nine times as much as you suggested earlier for that little stunt you pulled."
"I'm fine with that." Minho agreed as he happily allowed Seul to pull him along this time.
