I figured out what I want to do with my life! And made a vision board!

It came to me in a flash, really. One minute, I was watching a handpainted narration of the life and death of one of the greatest painters of all time, and next thing you know, I've abandoned it completely and started furiously typing away at my laptop about what I envisioned myself to be in five years' time. And I know I've had my fair share of false alarms in life: I thought I had what it takes to be a lawyer after seeing Legally Blonde for the first time while on my way to a school field trip, and seriously considered pursuing a career as a fashion blogger or MTV VJ because I was kind of fed up with school.

But this one just makes sense. Advising and assisting clients in producing content, collaterals, and campaigns according to their business objectives and based on collected data! It marries my love for writing, my knack for snooping around (the academic term is research!), and the specialty in technology and management my university ensures I'll have at the end of my four-year degree. i have yet to see how it’ll allow me to give back to society since that’s also a factor I want to consider in looking for a dream job but I’ll make it work. I found it hard to sleep that night, thanks to this nerdy, giddy kind of adrenaline rush I had. I broke down this big idea into smaller and smaller action steps until all I had left was a refined list of ideas and intentions, and a splitting headache.

I needed to make sure I was constantly reminded of their existence so all my choices and decisions would serve as a step closer to reaching all of them. So I caved in to the wishes of the "law of attraction" side of the Internet, and created my very own vision board! Simply put, this act of visualization is a powerful technique that can be used to manifest desires and reach goals. Our subconscious minds mainly recognize symbols and images: by merely looking at our vision boards everyday, subliminal messages are being sent to our brains, which will encourage them to work tirelessly to achieve the statements we are feeding to them. I can't find any explanation for this that's less abstract but since many people seem to swear on it and I have a lot of free time and printer ink, I figured why not, right?

It was convenient that I had this small corkboard from Daiso already stuck to one corner of my bedroom wall with several layers of double-sided tape. It used to be a year-long calendar of birthdays but I realized that I've never referred to it and often have to rely on either Facebook reminders or stock knowledge--there is no in between. All I had to do was to look at my list of goals, and compile photos that correspond to each of them, cut them up and arrange them in an aesthetically pleasing manner. You'll see below that I lacked the stereotypical luxury car and beachfront mansion with a walk-in closet and that's because I decided to focus on my goals for the next five years so it looks even a little bit more achievable.

Here's the finished product, along with explanations for each picture, to make this how-to more personal and to also hold myself accountable.

Make my girl Jenna Rink and everybody at Poise proud by writing for a magazine | I had listed a specific one at the time, and if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you already know what it is and how this endeavor turned out - but on this blog, I'll shroud it in a little cloud of mystery for now and talk about it more in a future post. I'm very happy producing content for this space of mine and have no intention of stopping any time soon. But at the same time I know that I'd be missing out if I didn't take the chance to be part of a community that leads me to like-minded individuals, allows me to grow even more in my craft, and "gives creators a space to speak their minds and push the limits of their artistry, without imposing any restrictions or expectations", as I stated in my application form.

Be active in three organizations next school year | (I had to blur one of them out because I'm not a member yet and I don't want to jinx it.) I know it's bold of me to assume that we'll be returning to school any time soon, but if we are ever lucky enough, I want to outdo myself when it comes to the orgs I'm a part of. I have been a good follower throughout my first two years of college but now I believe it's my time to try my hand at leading a group of people and being more involved in the conceptualization and execution of projects.

Go on a trip to Europe | Not even just a specific group of countries anymore (I used to be a France, Italy, Spain supremacist)--I mean the entire continent! (But then again, with its rich history and culture, picturesque tourist spots, diverse cuisines... even the sheer adrenaline rush that comes with being in a land completely different from the one you come from, how could anyone not want to go?

Expand my network | I acknowledge how knowing people who know people who know people can open windows of opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to have anywhere else. But I also look forward to building genuine connections with people from all sorts of industries. Talking to the same circle of friends can sometimes feel like you're trapped in an echo chamber: there is certainly much to learn from others' viewpoints.

Volunteer to teach kids | I don't think the written word could have changed my life as much as it did, had it not been for the presence of English teachers who believed in the power of the language to shape the minds of the youth. I guess this is just me trying to give back and help the next generation express their ideas and bring them to life by channeling my inner John Keating.

Maintain a clean workspace that is conducive to productivity | Especially during these days, I spend a solid 18 out of 24 hours sat at my desk, trying my best to make magic happen. It's very important that I keep it a constant and active source of inspiration, free from any distractions, and at the right level of comfort. Although it's not as minimalist as I hoped it would be and my table is about an inch too high for my liking, I'm still pretty satisfied!

Document memories consistently, be it through a physical or online journal | Speaking of clearing out my room, I recently found around 20 notebooks I had filled up over the years. Though maintaining them must have been such a hassle especially as I got older and reading through them was a distraction from completing the task at hand, I am thankful I painstakingly chronicled everything going on in my life and kept them in good condition. Seeing the goals I had set for myself all those years ago and how I achieved most of them without making a conscious effort has inspired me to do my older self a favor by putting in the work now so she can reap the rewards. (While I'm on this note, can anyone recommend a good app for journaling? I keep all my current entries in my Mac's Notes app because even though I am more of an analog person, I seemed to have lost the patience and persistence required to keep a physical journal. But at the same time, I'm scared of my laptop suddenly cr*shing and wiping out everything I had stored)

Stay focused on my work always | I didn't know how to show this without having to spell it out in words so I Photoshopped my face onto the head of a woman working in a cafe because those who study in coffee shops along Katip always look like they're getting stuff done.

Keep learning about the world even when I'm outside of the classroom | And this is not limited to frequenting the nearby museum, although that does sound like a great idea right now. This could also mean attending seminars, workshops, and talks, buying books and binge-watching documentaries or YouTube videos about a topic that I find interesting, engaging in discourse with someone (plus points if they have a different viewpoint!)

Write my own book | Before I even found out that humans were destined to pick a career and work until they died, I already knew that I wanted to spend my days as a writer. Specifically, I wanted to see my name on the cover of a book: By Angel Martinez. (Please refer to the 4:32 of this video and look at how far this dream actually goes back.) But once I realized that I wanted to enter the world of business, I thought I would have to give this up altogether. Thankfully, I now know that one's ability to get published is not reliant on their career--I mean, even beauty gurus get book deals these days. I'm not really sure what it's going to be about but I'd honestly be down for anything: even if it's just a compilation of my best entries on this blog.

13. Go all out when I take myself on self-care dates | I'm talking about picnics at the beach, with a basket full of fruits, a posh looking hat, and a good piece of classic literature! Or fancy dinners for one complete with as many glasses of red wine as I can down! People watching at Downtown Disneyland like my paternal grandmother in hand, with a plastic bag of souvenirs on one hand and a cream cheese pretzel on the other! (The possibilities are endless and I'm already mapping most of them out.)

14. Be financially stable enough to re-enact that one scene in Pretty Woman where Vivian Ward struts down the streets of Beverly Hills in a chic white dress and black hat, an endless number of shopping bags in tow | The part where I humiliate a sales lady who snubbed me the day before because she didn't think I could afford what she was selling by saying, "You work on commission, right? That's right. Big mistake, big, huge." is entirely optional.

I feel like they perfectly sum up the attitude I want to have as I forge my own path and accomplish everything I have set out for myself. If I was somehow able to convince you that this activity serves as the perfect springboard for all your dreams and aspirations, here are a couple of tips that could hopefully help you make yours!

Be ready for some intense introspection | Though it may look like a simple arts and crafts activity at the surface, making an effective vision board simply cannot be achieved if you're not willing to do some much needed reflection and watch it balloon into a full-on existential crisis. Identify which areas of your life are most important to you and how you would like to see them evolve over a period of time.

Specificity is key | The trick is to make your goals as concrete as possible, then translate them into visual elements. I know some people who wanted to get into particular universities, who have Photoshopped their names onto acceptance letters and pinned those to their corkboards. As stupid as that may sound in retrospect, I reckon it's an elaborate way of claiming something that's right within your reach.

Design it any way you want | Don't feel pressured to make it look like it's worthy to be on someone else's Pinterest because that's exactly how you lose sight of why you're doing it in the first place. The only person your final output has to resonate with is you.

Don't get discouraged | Although a vision board can attract positive energy and manifest your intentions to the universe, one thing it isn't capable of doing is granting your wishes in an instant. Don't be upset if what you have cut out and stuck on has yet to happen: I truly believe in the saying that the more you look for something, the more it seems to avoid you. Instead, continue to work hard and focus on the progress that you have already made.

9.20.18 ~ Ireland

As some of you are aware, I have achieved my singular most important life goal – and at the age of 23, what an accomplishment! I have traveled to Ireland. If you’ve been reading my blog, or if you’ve known me at all in real life, you may have the slight inkling that I have an obsession and deep wanderlust for the majesty that is Ireland. Between the exposure to all that is beautiful in the film P.S I Love You (landscape and men included) in my early teens, and the yearlong research project into the art styles and history of monastic life in my senior year of college, I am thoroughly and irrevocably obsessed with that country.

Last month (because it’s somehow half-way through September already), my family and I traveled abroad for the first time together. It was quite the experience. It had been quite some time since we had all traveled on a plane together, and I’m not quite sure how they managed it when we were kids. My father is much more familiar with flying, and I’ve done my fair share in the past few years. My mother and brother, less so. There’s a funny story involving my brother, TSA, and a giant bottle of contact solution, but we’ll leave that be, as I think we’ve over-told it in our real lives, and heaven forbid I spread his mistake online as well (no matter how funny it was, but not at the time).

One of the wise pieces of advice I gave to my family was “sleep on the plane, to confuse your body into being wide awake when we land,” because my father had inadvertently planned our flight to be overnight, which is great, that landed around 5:30AM Dublin time. My thought was “heck yea! lets go explore some stuff!” but my family’s thought was “oh no, where can we take a nap at 5AM?” because, oh dear reader, we could not get into our AirB&B until around noon. So, what do you do in a foreign city for almost 6 hours without wifi to guide you? The answer, for us at least, was to sit in a café for about an hour and use their free wifi to create a plan. So, we created a plan.

See, we were going to drop off bags and walk around Christ Church Cathedral, but plans never go, well, as planned. And we got lost-ish, asked multiple people where things were and realized they knew almost less than we did, and then decided to sit at the bag-drop tourist location until they opened at 8:30. My mom had to muscle her way into the lobby because some woman who arrived 5 minutes before they opened tried to cut in front of the rest of the people that were gathered around their front door area. So much for Irish hospitality! Joking, only joking. Other than the one rude woman, who was probably a tourist herself, every tour guide, and direction-giver, was as nice as could be.

Margret, from our Kilkenny B&B, was in a league of her own when it came to hospitality. She was more than understanding about our confusion when it came to the room arrangements, as we had booked two rooms, with one bed each. She explained that a double room was a full bed, and a twin room was a two bed room – a common misunderstanding when Americans were booking with her apparently. And because we had arrived before all her other guests, she allowed us to switch rooms and it was no hassle at all. She also served us Irish coffee before tucking in for the night, and served the best breakfast that I had during the whole trip – and Irish Breakfast with tomatoes, eggs, sausage, the whole nine. Recommendations, advice, there was nothing Margret wasn’t prepared for, maps included.

A guarantee during any of our family vacations or trips is tours, usually history oriented, and always interesting. Ireland was no different by any means. We toured castles, churches, the Ring of Kerry, and the Cliffs of Moher, as well as the towns and shops along the way. Each place was beautiful, full of stories, and perfectly old in every way. Part of what I love so much about being abroad, beyond the US, is that there is history that reaches beyond the founding of our country and further. Churches stand almost a thousand years old, castles from wars our fore-father’s grandfather’s were a part of, and practices that have stayed the same and thrived for generations. Yes, we have some of this in America, and we’ve created ourselves on the history of those countries we come from, but nothing beats a 900 year old church on a hillside, overlooking an entire valley to the mountains.

Speaking of phenomenal views, some of the best views we had were at the top of the Guinness Storehouse in the Galaxy Bar, the Ring of Kerry (no specifics, I’m obsessed with countryside and national parks, so I loved it all), and the Cliffs of Moher in all of their stunning, breathtaking beauty. One of my little goals in life is to have one of those large prints above my couch or desk, and someone asks “oh, that’s a great photo, where’d you buy it?” and I get to say “thanks, I took that!” There is something so special, so powerful, in being able capture a moment that you experienced so well that others are able to share part of its splendor. It’s one of the reasons I love taking pictures; I love to share them.

Anywho, moving on now to the silly details and things I can remember off the top of my head, as I don’t have the patience to go through all the photos right now, but would like to tell you more about our trip. One of the great joys was watching the live music being played on the streets of Galway every evening. There was a band, who’s name I cannot remember, but they had such good energy and an awesome mix of instruments and voice styles; I bought one of their CDs, which is currently in my car and played through at least once a week. Oh! The Book of Kells: amazing, very secure, and incredibly detailed (Trinity Library, I want to get married there. That is all.)

Coming home from a trip is always something that I hate to do, but also always necessary. Luckily, the weeks, and months, up-to the trip and following my return home, have been nothing but go go go (which is partially why this post is so late and also why it may seem a bit half-hazard or disorganized, my apologies). I’ve had time to remember and chat about all the good, without feeling like I’m missing out on too much because I have so much going on in my normal life. And, we all know, this won’t be the last trip I take to that majestic green island. Whenever I talk to people about electric vehicles, which is pretty often in my world, their eyes light up at the possibility of driving a car that embodies innovation within our industry. I love getting to explain to friends and family that these vehicles are fun to drive, easy to own and because of no gas, have zero emissions coming from the tailpipes. We recently shared some information from an independent global survey commissioned across Europe, China and the United States that identified a number of myths and misconceptions around electric vehicles. We learned a lot, but mainly we found that many people are not aware of how great these vehicles can be. And sure, I may be a little biased, but next year Ford will show the world just how cool they can be when our all-electric Mustang-inspired SUV goes on sale.

As part of this survey, one thing came across loud and clear: There is still a lot of apprehension out there surrounding the availability and speed of electric vehicle charging. Are charging stations easy to find? How often do I actually need to use one? And just how long will it take to charge up my battery?

Let’s take a look at a few of these concerns — and what Ford is doing to make living an electric lifestyle easy.

Almost 40 percent of people are concerned (and confused) about the need to charge their vehicles frequently.

We get it. For new electric vehicle owners, the act of charging their car is a whole new ball game. But it doesn’t have to be a scary one. In fact, owning an electric vehicle can actually make your life easier in many cases. According to U.S. Department of Energy, more than 80 percent of electric vehicle owners currently charge at home, which is why we’ve made it a top priority to give our customers total confidence on that front.

The good news is that our all-electric, Mustang-inspired SUV arrives with a targeted EPA-estimated 300-mile range.¹ Think about how far you generally travel to and from work every day. Chances are those 300 miles may be able to get you through a whole lot of weekdays.

On a higher voltage 240-volt electrical outlet, which you’ll typically see used by large appliances like clothes dryers, you can add an estimated average range of 22 miles per charging hour back to your vehicle’s range². And if customers ever need to use a standard 120-volt electrical outlet, that’s possible too and will result in an estimated average range of three miles per charging hour.²

To make life easier, Ford has teamed up with Amazon Home Services to offer easy installation of your home charging setup. Whether you need a 240-volt outlet installed or you choose the Ford Connected Charge Station option — which can be financed through Ford Credit — we’ve got you covered. Ford customers will be able to see upfront pricing estimates and schedule a licensed and vetted electrician online, all with just a few mouse clicks or swipes on your smartphone, or through your Ford dealership.

Through the FordPass™ app, you can even track your vehicle’s charging progress so you’ll always know where you stand.³

Among people who already own or want to purchase hybrids and electric vehicles, almost half (48 percent) say that a lack of charging stations is one of their main concerns.

This is obviously a real worry for people, and it makes sense considering that spotting an electric charging station isn’t quite as easy as spotting a gas station out in the wild. The last thing anyone wants to do is get stranded without power.

Which is why my team and I have worked hard for years to make owning a future Ford electric vehicle as hassle-free as possible. By teaming up with Greenlots and Electrify America, we’ve brought together multiple charging providers to develop the FordPass Charging Network. Ford customers will have confidence with simple and easy access to the largest public charging network of any automotive manufacturer that sells all-electric vehicles in North America, with more than 12,000 charging stations (and over 35,000 individual vehicle plugs) and growing.⁴ That number of charging stations makes these locations as commonplace as some of the most popular coffee and pharmacy chains.

Even better is that the number of available charging stations will just increase going forward. Relatively speaking, the entire industry is still in the early stages of building out charging infrastructure. As electric vehicles become more popular and more charging stations come online, we anticipate adding additional locations all around the world to the FordPass Charging Network for even better coverage.

And thanks to the FordPass app, paying for charging will be incredibly easy. No more rummaging through your wallet. Just charge your vehicle and watch the payment seamlessly go through via your smartphone.

So, in addition to letting you pay for and track charging through FordPass, we’ve built in a powerful new feature called FordPass Power My Trip. This tool will let you plan your trips right on your phone or in the car, taking your vehicle’s current range into consideration to determine exactly when, where and how long to charge to make your trip as efficient as possible.²

Additionally, through this tool FordPass or your car’s on-screen dashboard will also tell you whether a charging outlet is available or in use (if data is made available by a charge point operator). Like gas stations, most charging stations have multiple charging outlets. Perhaps just as important is that Power My Trip will highlight different points of interest around the charging stations it recommends, including restaurants and shopping centers, so that you can make the most of your time while your car powers up.²

At one of the FordPass Charging Network’s Electrify America fast chargers, customers can add an estimated range of 47 miles in approximately 10 minutes, and can charge their battery from 10 percent to 80 percent full charge in 45 minutes². That’s about the same time it takes to stretch your legs and grab a fast-casual meal. After all, you’ve got to recharge, too.

MY HEART-THUMPING FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH BOOK DEPOSITORY [A Review and Tutorial]

A few weeks ago, I was in a bookstore at a mall waiting for my friends to come. We were planning to go see a movie that day. I wasn’t supposed to buy anything apart from a movie ticket and sour cream-flavored popcorn. But, a particular book flirted with me. I was at the Young Adult section of the bookstore and there was this one book that outshined all the others. It was like the world slowed down and the book emitted a glorious ray of light around it while Bye Bye Sea’s Fading Starlight played on my head.

It was a book entitled “The Knife of Never Letting Go” by Patrick Ness. As I was reading the synopsis at the back cover, I found out that it was actually the first book in a trilogy called “Chaos Walking”. I rummaged through the shelf to see if the other two books in the series were there while mentally convincing myself to not buy all three books at once. Luckily and unluckily, I only found the last installment of the trilogy. But I didn’t want to buy the first and third book without the second one. It was all or nothing. So, I decided to just buy the first book and resolved that I should just probably wait for a few days for the bookstore to re-stock the second book.

I came back to the bookstore after a week and sadly, there were still no stocks of the second book (which is entitled “The Ask and the Answer”, btw).

I was desperate.

I called the bookstore to have me in their waitlist should the stocks arrive. I made a request in their website to re-stock the book. I contacted friends from other cities and asked them for a favor to buy me that particular book. But, all of these failed.

I had no other option but the last one. The dreaded choice: ONLINE SHOPPING.

My family and friends know how apprehensive I am with online shopping. I don’t hate it. I just feel uncomfortable that I am doing a transaction that involves money and a few of my personal information over an unsafe place called the Internet which is why I have never tried it before.

But, I was desperate.

I scoured the entire Internet (this is a hyperbole) for online shops that sell books because I know that whatever is sold in the market now are also sold online. I came across a few sites but they looked shady and fishy based on some comments and reviews. Until, I stumbled upon a nice-looking website of Book Depository.

Sure, their website looked cute and legit but I had to be sure because they boast their FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. And practically, we all know that nothing is free in this world. So, I read a few reviews and luckily, there were a couple of reviews from Filipino bloggers which were collectively positive.

With my right hand on the keyboard and my shaking left hand holding my debit card, I made my FIRST EVER online transaction. Book Depository specifically said in their FAQs that the books would arrive to the Philippines in 7-10 business days. This means that I have to suffer from uncertainty for 7-10 business days.

Was it successful? Well…

Yes! After 12 business days, my book arrived in very good condition. You can just imagine how much air I let out in relief when the guard of our office handed me the package.

So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how would I rate Book Depository?

I’d say an 8.5. It was actually very smooth apart from the instance that the books arrived 2 days later than what they said and they were dispatched a day later than what they said on the page and I had to give them a message about my concern. I’d also like to point out how efficient their customer service is. They typically reply within a few minutes or hours. Driving in Morocco – 8 Essential Tips To Survive Your Road Trip

One of the best ways to explore Morocco is certainly by driving yourself instead of using buses and taxis. Nothing beats a road trip with a good friend, fun music, and some snacks. I highly recommend driving in Morocco as the stress-level is much, much lower than when you have to rely on public transportation (I did both!). It's not exactly a hassle-free country, so when you're not up for constant haggling and broken or too cold AC's, you're much better off with a car. There are quite a few things you should know before you start your road trip in Morocco, though. Here's everything you need to know:

1. Know the car rental process

Renting a car can always be tricky, but especially so in Morocco. Whether you book online before or while you’re there, you should know what you’re doing. First of all, don’t expect to get the car you paid for. You’ll get whatever they have available.

Second of all, they likely won’t speak English and the rental agreement won’t be in English, either. Always have a translation app handy. I recommend you get full insurance as you can’t trust anyone in Morocco, especially not the police. If there was an accident, I’m pretty sure all locals would stick together and blame you, whether it was your fault or not.

Also, make sure you take a video of the car before you leave with it and document every single scratch. We rented our car in Marrakech from V7 Cars and can definitely recommend it. Our hotel, Hotel & Ryads Barriere La Naoura, organized it for us and translated the contract. They brought the car to the hotel and picked it up, it was really an easy process. Their number is 06 61 49 98 88 and their email: [email protected]. We talked to Mr Benrazzouk Abdelhaq, he only speaks French, though, so ask your hotel for help.

We paid about $45 a day for a new Renault Clio including everything. While it seems much at first when you compare it with prices they show you online, you will be surprised how many extra fees they come up with once you get the car, so this wasn't a crazy amount.

2. Drive very carefully and not at night

You have to pay attention every second as the roads are so curvy and narrow that accidents can happen easily. Even if you stay in your lane, you need to be prepared for other drivers not doing it and shooting around the corner on your side of the road. I just started honking before driving into curves to let people know I’m coming, something I learned while driving in Bali. Since there are no lights along the way, never drive during the night.

3. Don’t let corrupt police scam you

If the police stop you for speeding or crossing lines (which will likely happen to you as it’s so common), don’t pay them. They’re usually very friendly at first, make some small talk and then tell you that you have to pay 400 Dirhams because you did XYZ. Doesn’t matter if you did it or not. Tell them you don’t have any cash and they can send the invoice to the rental car company. They won’t because they’re just scamming you. I knew these tricks before so I told the police officer I don’t have 400 Dirhams and he asked if I had at least 100, haha. I told him I had 20, but that wasn’t enough for him and he let us go. Nice try, b******.

4. The roads could make you sick

If you’re one of those people who can’t read in the car or sit in the back, I recommend you take motion sickness medicine before you do the Atlas Mountain road trip. The zigzag roads will make you nauseous very quickly, especially if you’re not driving yourself. I drove the entire way as I couldn’t handle being the co-pilot on these roads, it made me want to through up after a few minutes. Even though I was driving and I usually don’t have problems then, I still felt horrible when we finally arrived.

5. Make sure you have an offline map

Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be an old-school paper map, just download the route on Google Maps before you leave, or use a navigation app that works offline, like maps.me. Even if you have a navigation system in your car, we quickly noticed that a lot of the towns are not in the system, and since there rarely is cell service between towns, you might get lost without having an offline map.

6. Don’t underestimate distances

There are two reasons a drive in Morocco will always take you quite some more time than Google Maps suggests. The good one is that you’re gonna want to stop to take photos ALL THE TIME. The views are amazing, a new mind-blowing scenery awaits you every few minutes. The not so good one is that driving in Morocco is very exhausting, especially if you do the route through the Atlas Mountains.

As described before, you need to pay a lot of attention to the road and can’t drive fast most of the time, it’s not like you’re going on a highway. The average speed limit is 60km/h and while you can (but shouldn’t, of course) drive faster sometimes, you will also have to go much slower many times which can really slow you down. Some roads have a lot of truck traffic as well and the narrow one-lane roads don’t always let you pass them easily.

7. Prepare the days on the road

Morocco is a big country, so if you plan on road tripping it, you’ll spend a lot of time in the car. I recommend you always have some necessities in the car before you start your day driving. First of all, have tissues/toilet paper at all times. Most of the road-side stops don’t have any. Since I lived in Egypt for some time, I got used to and actually prefer the good old butt shower, but most of the time you won’t find a high-pressure hose in Morocco. Instead, you have to deal with a bucket of water, which isn’t really easy to handle properly.

Next thing you always want to have more than enough of is water. You never know how long you won’t be able to find a cafe/supermarket on the road and it gets pretty hot, especially during the summer months. You need to stay hydrated to be able to focus on the road. We did our road trip during Ramadan and it was a real pain in the a** to find any open shop, especially in the morning.

Last but not least: Snacks and good music (also offline - no service, remember?). Because what’s a road trip without it?

8. You won’t be able to get work done

Admittedly, this point is not relevant for all of you, but for the entrepreneurs, workaholics and digital nomads among us: Don’t expect to get any work done on a driving day, even if you’re not driving yourself. You won’t have service most of the time and even if you could work offline, you’ll quickly give up as the roads are so curvy, all you do is try to hold your laptop so it won’t fall off your lap.

That's all the tips I have on driving in Morocco, I hope they were helpful. Don't let them scare you, you'll have the most amazing time exploring the country by car, I promise. I would always recommend doing a road trip over bus rides or taxis since you have the freedom to go at your own pace and take as many photo stops as you like. The landscapes are so stunning, you probably won't want to close your eyes even for a short nap! Plus it's just so much more relaxing than having to deal with people trying to sell and over-charge you constantly.

UK Car insurance in-between switching cars?

To keep things simple I am calling the current car I have Car A and the new car as Car B. I have insurance that runs out on CAR A in 2 months time which I want to keep on the basis that I don't want to lose my no claims bonus for this current year by cancelling the insurance. I was planning to switch cars in 2 months anyway but have found CAR B at a very competitive price with all the extras I need. (Car B comes taxed and MOTd). I currently cant change my policy from car A to car B as the provider says the update will increase my premium to over 2000 just for the remaining 2 months! I am a young driver so I am not able to get temporary car insurance either. My question is what are my options other than simply buying car B now and letting it sit on the driveway for 2 months waiting for my current policy to expire? E.g.is it possible to take out insurance on car B without NCB now and add ncb 2 months after the policy has started? Any other loop holes you clever poeple can think of?
