Our prayers are with India, says BTS as country battles COVID-19
By Radhika Sharma
New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) "Let''s never lose hope." This is the message from the South Korean music sensation BTS to their fans, known as ARMY, in India as the nation grapples with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
The group enjoys a massive following in India and is yet to tour the country.
Asked if there was a message for the ARMY in the country amid the pandemic, member V told PTI in an email interaction, "Our prayers are with India. Stay strong ARMY and let''s never lose hope."
The septet, also comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook, recently released their second English single "Butter".
The groovy disco-pop summer track smoothly crossed 113 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours of its release on Friday, besting the 98.3 million public views counter-mark for the band''s Grammy-nominated maiden English single "Dynamite".
In the run-up to the release of "Butter", BTS floated the concept art of the song which had a melting heart at its centre.
Asked what was the idea behind this single, Jimin (25) said the members were looking for a song with a summer vibe, something they could enjoy with everyone.
"We wanted a summer song that we can enjoy together with ARMY and everyone. And ''Butter'' was the perfect fit," he said.
"It''s a song brimming with the charms of BTS, so I hope everyone enjoys it!" V, 25, added.
The group is set to deliver the first on-stage performance of "Butter" at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), where they have yet again been nominated for the top social artist honour, the award they have been winning since 2017.
They are also nominated in the top duo/group, top song sales artist and top selling song ("Dynamite") categories.
In 2019, BTS -- the full name is Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts) or Beyond The Scene, their English branding -- also became the only South Korean group to win the top duo/group award at the BBMAs.
It is a special feeling to return to the music gala after having such a memorable run at the charts last year for "Dynamite", their career''s first Billboard Hot 100 No 1 hit.
It is an honour to perform "Butter" at the BBMAs, said Suga.
"One of the most memorable moments last year was when we got our first number one song on the Billboard''s Hot 100 chart. So it''s an honour to perform ''Butter'' for the first time at the awards show that bears such a special meaning for us," the 28-year-old added.
Jung Kook, the youngest BTS member, said he hopes ARMY likes their act.
"As we always do, we prepared a spectacular performance for this year''s BBMAs too. So I hope our fans like it," the 23-year-old said.
Although the optimism of "Dynamite" was exactly what ARMY around the world needed last year during peak pandemic, there were other songs in the band''s 2020 album ''Map of the Soul: 7'' like ''ON'' and ''Black Swan'' that the group''s fans believed also deserved a nod at the Grammy Awards.
When asked to comment, group leader RM said while these awards recognise some of the most ambitious projects in music, not getting a nod at the Grammys or any other music awards "doesn''t mean that song is less valuable".
"''ON'' and ''Black Swan'' delivered a deep message that we held in our seventh year into our careers, and that itself is invaluable," the 26-year-old said.
Their label HYBE Corporation, previously known as Big Hit Entertainment, last month acquired American record executive Scooter Braun''s Ithaca Holdings, which is home to artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato.
Asked what surprises are in store for ARMY following this development, while nothing was decided yet, J-Hope teased that this partnership will open doors to many more opportunities.
"One thing we can promise for sure are amazing and unforgettable performances, so be on the lookout," the 27-year-old said.
Jin, 28, said like ARMY, he too was looking forward to more surprises.
"I honestly think possibilities are endless because all these things are not something that we did alone, but we did together with our ARMY," he added.
BTS debuted in 2013 and to mark their eight year anniversary, the group announced a special two-day event, ''BTS 2021 Muster SOWOOZOO'' in June.
Asked how the future looks for the septet, Suga said they want to stay together and continue making good music.
"We want to connect with everyone around the world with great music and stages, and keep going as a group," he added. PTI RDS BK SHD

Notes On: Mainsail
Today, we’re taking a look at Mainsail.  Mainsail is a pop-punk band out of San Diego, CA. The lyrics draw you in and the music holds you. They recently released a new song called “Blue Skies,” and it helps you to remember that there are blue skies ahead, no matter how hard the battle is right now. (Video below).
Mainsail is a 4 man band, with current members Nick Lanari on guitar and lead vocals; James Moyer on lead guitar; Issac Park on drums; and Mike Liorti on bass and backup vocals. Nick took some time to help me delve into Mainsail a little.
Nick and James have known each other since they were 18/19. They’d hang out and play guitars and in the summer of 2013, they decided to start a pop-punk band, Nick stating that they grew up on pop-punk. Going forward a year, they met Issac, who was playing drums for Electra Mustaine. Nick had been offered to play guitar, but didn’t feel it was a fit, and asked Issac if he wanted to play drums for the band. This was after 2 previous members left.
Their previous bass player parted ways this past December. Nick, James and Issac were full time band members, and they are still friendly with their previous bass player. Current bass player, Mike Liorti offered to play, after Nick had silently been contemplating it, but not vocalizing the thought. Nick then stated that Mike was a “phenomenal fit,” and that it’s been “the best line-up hands down.” He’s also said that Mike has helped the band a lot, having a great sense of music, and being about the song.
They will be touring this summer in the ROSEDALE van. Which, I think will be interesting. With bunk beds in the trailer, and all the gear, it will be a trip. They have a joke about all the gear, making up words to go along with “Fat Lip” by Sum 41, because Mike seems to have an endless amount of gear for being just one person.
Some of the bands influences include: New Found Glory; Jimmy Eat World; The Starting Line and Yellowcard. Nick also said that he’s influenced by some post rock music.  Post-rock is a type of experimental rock with a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords or riffs. It’s mostly instrumental, and he hinted that there may be some post rock vibes in some future songs. He also described their style as being a rock band with pop-punk roots, which, honestly fits their album, Photographs, perfectly.
Now, the story behind the name, Mainsail, is not quite what I thought.  Nick and James, and another member at the time were in a garage for their first practice, on Mainsail Rd, in Oceanside, CA. The name stayed, sounding nautical, which Nick stated he likes. I have to agree with him. It’s easy to remember, easy to search, and rolls off the tongue.
Does Nick have nerves before a show? His nerves, are more a feeling of being anxious to play. As a band, they want to unleash and go all out. They are filled with energy, and wanting to get loud and have fun. Nick, for one, can’t wait to start, and said he would go from the merch table, to hanging out with the other bands, to hanging out with fans and friends. Now, he finds a spot, keeps calm and watches the other bands, taking in the experience.
The favorite show to play, is a yearly one to play. Joshua Fest in Quincy, CA. Nick said that it was biggest every year with over 300 people, between 100 -150 being fans and knowing their songs. At Joshua Fest they get to play a longer set and be on a bigger stage.
Nick grew up dreaming of playing medium sized venues, 1500-2000 in a club. One dream is to play the SoMa Mainstage in San Diego. Drummer, Issac would love to play sold out arenas, and places like the amphitheater in Chula Vista, Nick stated. A big dream of Nick’s though, is to play outdoors, with lights, and the sunset in the distance, at golden hour. And honestly, I think that would be heaven. Music, at that time, rocking out, all the energy in the air, is pure perfection.
What is their favorite song to play live? Right now, Nick says it has to be Blue Skies, even though they have only played it twice. “It’s super fun to play and sing.” He also thinks it will be a big hit this summer. The absolute favorite song to play, for Nick though, is one that hasn’t been released, and still remains untitled. They’ve also only played this song twice, with Blue Skies leading up to it, according to Nick. He feels that this new song will be even bigger than Blue Skies. He’s hoping to have a release date soon. (And where there is a release date, we’ll have it here, don’t worry).
I still asked the question: Where do you see yourself in five years? “Having toured the US and North America, have an album or two, full length,” along with headlining tours. Playing in Europe, Japan, and Australia, just playing far and wide. The biggest thing is, just playing and still being a band, Nick stated, hopefully having half their income coming in from being a band as well, and playing music festivals. Sounds like a plan to me, still making music and spreading that music, and joy and energy.
There is no shortage of pop-punk in Nick’s voice, holding true to their pop-punk roots, but there’s also that rock edge. The lyrics are ones everyone can relate to, the tunes are catchy, and the over all experience pulls you in. If you are looking for a band that has that slight edge, while also being uplifting, and empowering, you might want to check out Mainsail (If you haven’t already). They are a great group of individuals, who as a whole, form something amazing. Take a few minutes, check the links below, and let me, and the band, know what you think. -

I just have to say that I went on a hell of an emotional rollercoaster on Monday that didn’t stop until I ate an entire 12” medium pizza for the first time in my life. I literally consumed somewhere north of 6000 calories if you factor in the munchies I had at 4am (I’m not). I was very grateful to get to see my puppers at some point in the day, awakened from my hungover stupor, and even more so to take her on a short 5 mile hike later on in the afternoon. I attribute this as the sole reason I was even remotely able to stuff my face with as much food as I did in an 18 hour period. Depression doesn’t fuck around when it hits.
Part of the reason I was so upset a majority of the day (and hungover to boot) was because I got into a confrontational discussion with one of my close friends sometime around 2am. It was productive; but I ultimately felt like I was getting gaslighted about my reasons for the split between myself and my ex-fiance. For a long time (2 hours) I felt like I was being made out to look like a complete idiot with no regards for my explanation; furthermore, it went even further when it was described to me that these questions applied to many of our other mutual friends as well. Why not ask me, instead of musing about it? This is the ultimate theme of the past 6 months, and something that’s irked me both for my own behavior as well as the behavior of others: if you have something to say just say it, and if you have questions just ask them. A few moments of uncomfortableness can prevent a permanent loss or damage down the road. This is a lesson hard-learned, and one that I’m proud to say I am finally embracing.
When I got back to Orange County, I wanted Mediterranean food something awful. The previous day, I had seen that my ex had ordered Forte (another review for another time) on our shared dashpass account and I was infinitely jealous. Not wanting to wait or pay inflated prices, I decided to hit Luna Grill for a quick fix; I also had a coupon for a free starter just from subscribing and unsubscribing to their text notifications list, so this made it more attractive in my current state (going broke).
Tumblr media
I ended up ordering the stuffed grape leaves (served cold), two sides of pita (pita is shown above, but it’s definitely not all of it) and the Koobideh Kabob plate, served with classic hummus. For my sauce, I chose the garlicky feta (meh). I had recently eaten at a Luna Grill, I think on the night before NYE 2021 and I knew the hummus and pita were solid. I had never had one of their kabobs, though, and to be honest it was good and satisfied the craving. I wouldn’t call it the best I’ve ever had, but I can hardly see this being a bad meal – it seemed very consistent. The hummus has a good amount of seasoning and it complemented the kabob as well as the pita perfectly. I was not a fan of the garlicky feta sauce; it tasted too similar to plain sour cream, or Salvadorean crema – just not quite the punch of flavor I was hoping for. Sadly, I had read this online before my purchase and I still chose to ignore it. Pick another one, if you find yourself struggling and have read this. The rice that came with the plate was standard; it wasn’t the best nor the worst I’ve ever had, and worked with what I was eating. The grape leaves were delicious – they had a nice punch of dill and other seasonings that really worked excellently as a pallet cleanser. I was intrigued by the fact that they were served cold – I’ve only ever had stuff grape leaves one other time in my life, and they were warm, so I wasn’t quite sure if a mistake was made or if this was intentional. Either way – it was delicious.
I promptly went to sleep after entering my Mediterranean coma. When I woke up, I took my puppers for that hike and then I dropped her back off. Once I had showered and felt more normal, I decided to do something productive with my life and work on another writing project while deciding what to get for dinner. Coincidentally, the Rams game was on and I also wanted to catch a few quarters of that. At any rate, I ended up going to a local pizza spot (where I didn’t intend on ordering pizza) to have a beer and do my writing called Tony Pepperoni.
This place is solid. They remained open during most of the pandemic. Unfortunately, it has a strong business base of entitled and affluent folk that refuse to wear masks, with a sprinkling of anti-vaxxers. I probably would have given the joint a 28/30 on the Depression Oatmeal scale if it wasn’t for this – but hey, I’m not totally against the idea of a business making money, so I get where they are coming from. At any rate, I enjoyed a beer or two and worked on my project and as I kept going I realized that I actually really wanted pizza. So I ordered a 12” medium “sarah”racha that came with pineapples, ham, bacon, jalapenos, and a smattering of a sweet and spicy sriracha based sauce on top. I got it to go, not wanting anyone to see my shame as I was feeling very hungry, given that I had eaten a mountain of Mediterranean food at lunch.
Tumblr media
The pizza traveled well to my house, and was still hot and delicious upon consumption. At first, I found myself eating just the pizza and setting the crusts aside because I was very aware of the calories I was eating and that I was no longer even – was never even – on a deficit scale, even after the short hike. Then – the pizza was gone…. And I kept eating the crust, too. All of it. I had flavored it with butter and parmesan, I believe, and man was it good! The sweet and spicy flavor profile of the pizza was exactly what I was looking for; it had to have been. I have never eaten a 12” pizza all to myself in my entire life – I was impressed at myself. Furthermore – I was still hungry when I was done!
The last thing I’m going to say about this place is that they have a ton of TVs and are always playing sports; if you’re not feeling the Buffalo Wild Wings vibe and you’re local, this is a great place to come for a change-up. Additionally, they have an arcade and a lot of seating so it’s easy to spread out. Word to the wise; this place is usually packed in the evenings and weekend mornings for either youth sports or NBA/NFL. You can order your pizza online, and they also offer delivery and take-out (delivery is a 3 dollar fee; better than pizza hut and dominos these days). Also – if you’re not feeling pizza, the fried ravioli and the wings are solid choices. They used to do this thing where they just fried pepperoni into chips and served them – I miss those days. They might still do it for you if you ask.

Introduction to Couponing
So, you live in La Crosse and you’re interested in couponing. I don’t blame you. You can literally clear a shelf of its products and get paid to do so. You can create a stockpile that will last you months, even years, for a fraction of the regular cost. You can set your family up for success. You will never run out of toilet paper, toothpaste or body wash again.
However, you don’t have the slightest idea of where to begin. Trust me, you’re not alone. Every couponer has gone through an awkward learning phase. When I started couponing in January, I had no idea what I was doing. I made all of the mistakes you possibly could. And I still make mistakes.
The overall purpose of this blog is to help others save money through couponing. I have had plenty of family and friends ask me to teach them how to coupon, but it takes much more than a verbal explanation. It takes practice, patience and research.
This blog post will help you understand the very basics of couponing so you can start the learning process. Read the following points below to start your couponing journey. Notice that it gets complicated quickly, but the best way to learn couponing is to muddle through a few deals until you get the swing of things. Let’s begin:
0. Couponers Can -- and Should -- Give Back
Before I even start teaching you how to coupon, we need to get one thing crystal clear. Couponing is a great way to stockpile and prepare yourself. It is not, however, an excuse to be selfish. I have heard of couponers throwing away hundreds of tubes of toothpaste because they expired. That should not happen.
Couponing enables you to give back to the community. For me, because I’m on a tight college budget, I struggle to find ways to give back. But through couponing, I’ve been able to donate much needed items to much deserving organizations, such as New Horizons and the Coulee Region Humane Society. Always keep in mind what you can do for others with your new knowledge of couponing.
1. It’s not like TLC’s “Extreme Couponing”
If you’ve ever seen the show, please understand that real life couponing is nothing like that. You will never spend 4 hours in a store pushing 6 carts. Even if you find yourself in a scenario where that’s possible, I don’t recommend it. You’ll end up messing something up at the register, annoying the employees and those behind you in line, and looking like a crazy person.
On a good day, I’ll get $100 worth of merchandise for $5, not $1,200 for $.02 like in the show.
2. Store’s Don’t Just Give Stuff Away
You’re never going to come across a store that will automatically give you free or cheap stuff. They will never advertise the potential to get merchandise for free. Additionally, you will rarely come across “easy” deals that get you free stuff with a single coupon. Instead, the good deals happen when you combine a sales promotion with coupons, points, and rebates. More on that later.
3. In La Crosse, Walgreen’s is King
I’ve had success couponing at Target and Walmart, but nothing beats Walgreen’s. Other areas of the country have CVS, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. CVS has incredible deals that are usually a hair better than Walgreen’s. La Crosse simply doesn’t have CVS, so I would ignore those deals and focus on Walgreen’s.
That said, most of this blog will be about couponing at Walgreen’s. We have 4 Walgreen’s in the area: Hwy 16, West Ave, Mormon Coulee Rd and Rose St. If I find a good deal at Walmart or Target, I will be sure to post that on one of my social media platforms, so be sure to follow me!
4. Deals Come and Go Weekly
Most of the deals are Sunday to Sunday. This is because, as I mentioned earlier, to get a good deal, you must layer coupons, rebates, points, etc on top of the sales that stores are having. And most stores sales last for a week. Understand that to keep up with the deals you must do your research and get organized on a weekly basis.
Deals on certain items come and go, so you don’t want to wait. For example, I recently scored a pile of makeup for about $5, but I might not see another deal on that makeup for 3 months.
Also, be prepared to hit Walgreens early on Sunday, especially for the hot deals. You’re not the only couponer in town.
5. Sign Up for Walgreen’s “Card”
Like I said, Walgreen’s is where 90% of your couponing will happen. It’s IMPERATIVE that you sign up for a Walgreen’s Balance Rewards Card here. When you shop at Walgreens, 99% of the sales will be posted “with card.” That means that without the card you might as well stay home. The card is table stakes, so get one!
In addition to getting the sale price, the card is how you earn points. More on points later, but they are extremely important in the couponing world. Long story short, you can earn points and use them on later transactions. Points are practically cash.
P.S. - Although Walgreen’s calls it a “card,” it’s attached to your phone number, so don’t worry about the physical card. Just make sure you enter your phone number every time you check out at the register.
P.P.S. – Download the Walgreen’s app on your phone. It’s extremely useful to see what’s in stock, look at the weekly ad, see how many points you have and clip digital coupons.
6. Follow Social Media Pages
Believe it or not, there are people who make a living through couponing. Not only do they go out and get stuff for free, they also manage social pages to help others coupon. These social pages help them earn money through ad revenue.
These folks will do the heavy lifting each week. They track down the deals, coupons and other specifics into “matchups.” That way you don’t’ have to think about it at all. All you have to do is get your coupons organized, go to the store and get the deals! Here is an example of a coupon matchup video created by Running Kimono for May 20-26. These couponing experts typically post the matchups a few days before Sunday so you can get organized.
The following are a few pages and channels I recommend that you follow:
Savy Coupon Shopper (YouTube) Running Kimono (YouTube) Hillary Hok (YouTube)
Couponing at Walgreens (Facebook) Walgreens Couponing (Facebook)
I prefer YouTube videos because the deals are personable and detailed. If you’re serious about couponing, I cannot stress how important it is to follow these pages and familiarize yourself. These people know way more than I do and have the patience to hunt down deals for us each week.
7. The Sources of Coupons
When you think of coupons, you might think of your standard paper coupons that you get in the newspaper. Although that’s one type of coupon, there’s so much more to it. I personally do not purchase the Sunday paper because it’s $4.00 and the point of couponing is to save money. However, my dad does get the Sunday paper, so I make sure to get the coupons from his paper if I need them. Thanks dad! Here’s a list of different ways to acquire coupons:
• The Sunday Paper (not recommended) • Walgreen’s Digital Coupons – these are coupons that Walgreen’s offers in their app. I personally find them to be confusing and sometimes they don’t work; however, I’ll use them occasionally. • Printing Coupons from Various Sources, Mostly coupons.com - you’ll be allowed two prints per coupon, per device. This is my primary source of coupons. Although you must invest in a printer and ink, it’s well worth it.  • Bulk Purchasing Individual Coupons from Klip2Save – this is a great way to get a ton of coupons for those hot deals. Instead of spending $20 on multiple copies of the paper, I spent about $3 (with shipping) to get exactly what I need. This takes much more planning and patience, since you have to wait half a week to get the coupons, but it’s worth it. I don’t know where this company gets the coupons, but it works and it’s legit.
8. Points = CASH
Just like the heading says, points are equivalent to cash in most couponers minds. That said, 1,000 points is equivalent to $1.00. Walgreen’s also offers a better value for your points when you get a higher value, more on that here. For example, 40,000 points is equal to $50. But most couponers stick to the general rule of thumb, which is 1,000 points=$1. Cash money.
Let’s say you purchase a tube of toothpaste for $2.99 and you earn 2,000 points. In a couponers mind, you got that tube of toothpaste for $.99 after points. On your next transaction, you can use those points to pay. And as couponers, of course there will be another transaction.
As if this isn’t already confusing enough, there are a couple other rules you MUST understand about points. If a deal states that you must SPEND money to get points, you CANNOT use points to pay. If a deal states that you must BUY a certain quantity of items to earn points, you CAN use points to pay. Yes, that was confusing, but trust me, it’ll make much more sense once you practice.
I hope that this initial blog post gave you a good introduction to couponing in the La Crosse Area. If you have any questions, leave them in a comment below or on any of my social pages. Couponing is my favorite hobby. It’s addicting and it enables positive change in my life and in others. I genuinely hope that you try it out.
Next week, we will take a more detailed look at rebates and rewards. Until then, happy couponing!

Top 10 Ways to Make Money with Crowd1 Business
Tumblr media
Sure, you can make money with crowd1 online business. There are many ways that you can use to build your network and making money in crowd1 home business. Making an income in crowd1 will require you to make a strong network by building strong down lines.
1.    Build Your Network. Building your network is the surefire way of making a huge income in crowd1. You build your network by inviting other people to join your team. Crowd1 offers a very lucrative yet simple compensation plan. This guarantees anyone can, even when working half as hard, make immense wealth. The Entrepreneurship package sales bonus is simply a binary bonus that pays you every time you introduce a new member that ends up buying an education package. When you recruit a new member, you will place him or her on either right or left of your binary matrix. You need to sell at least 2 packages and place each new member on right or left of the binary to unlock your earnings. Each package bought allocates you certain amount of business points which you accumulate to earn an income. 10 business points equal to 1 euro. So if you sell 2 white packages which come with 90 business points. That totals to 180BP which is equal to 18 euro. 2 Black packages pays you 54 euro while 2 gold packages pay you a total of 144 euro and so on and on.
 2.    Sell Product for Commissions. Crowd1 is a marketing company for 3rd party digital marketing companies. Crowd1 provides its members with mobile apps from these companies to market and make sales commissions from them. When you become a member, crowd1 will give you an opportunity to market any of its 9 products currently. You will need to register for each of these digital products to get an affiliate link and be able to market it. When you market each of these products you can get commission up to 15% of the profits. Crowd1 list of marketing products currently include Lifetrnds, safer, Affilgo, Miggster, Tribute, Crowd1 magazine, Grithub, Miggster premium, Epic lotto among others to be launched soon.
 3.    Earn Residual Long Term Monthly Income. Crowd 1 also earns money directly its product sales. The company marks up all its products so that when a digital product is sold, part of that money goes back to the company to be redistributed back to the members. The monthly residual income is paid every month on the 15th and is deducted from sales volumes of the previous month. Crowd1 has paid monthly residual income since 15th of May 2020 and continues to pay. Residual income is the biggest payment that is expected to make changes in member’s lives as it replaces their salaries and incomes from other businesses. Monthly residual income payouts have been increasing every month and its expected that the earnings will keep on increasing as the company products range increase and the membership keeps on growing. Residual income represents 40% of all monies earned by crowd1 from sales of mobile applications. It is expected that as new products are launched the residual income for a coordinator 1 star will be anywhere from 100 euro and above per month. This is very possible in the short term.
 4.    Claim your Crowd1 Rewards. As the first network marketing company to do this, crowd1 pays its members weekly crowd1 rewards for all members that join the company globally. This means your stake in the company increases as more and more people join crowd1 and not by your direct efforts. This is called the stream line bonus which pays you crowd1 rewards every Wednesday of each week. You have to claim these crowd1 rewards every week. The crowd1 rewards are similar to internal shares in crowd1. These crowd1 rewards are used to calculate your dividends every 3 months and are therefore very important to claim. The more crowd1 rewards you have accumulated over the months, the more residual income you are paid every quarter.
 5.    Earn Your Fear Of Loss Bonus. This bonus is meant to help you recoup your investment money which you paid to join crowd1. The fear of loss bonus tells you that if you are able to introduce 4 people to join you in crowd1 in the first 2 weeks, you will make euro 125. If you introduce 4 people with a black package, you will earn 375 euro. If you introduce 4 members with a gold package, you will make 1,005 euro in 2 weeks. If you introduce 4 people who join with a titanium package, then you will get to keep 3,150 euro. This bonus is time limited for the first 14 days only. If the 14 days elapse before you qualify, then the bonus is time barred and you continue with your business. Missing to hit the fear of loss bonus does not affect your crowd1 business whatsoever.
 6.    Rank up the Network Levels. If you want to make the serious money in crowd1, you need to build your network day and night and rank up. Crowd 1 has 7 main levels each with 3 stars levels. These are team leader, coordinator, manager, director, president, senior president and ambassador. So in total, there are 21 steps to rank up the leadership levels. When crowd 1 earns money from sale of digital apps, this money is distributed equally among the 21 leadership levels. This means that the people in each of the 21 leadership levels get to share the money equally. It follow then team leader lever which is the first will have many people sharing the same cake as ambassadors, that shows that the piece of cake each member gets at that level will be small as compared to the fewer directors or presidents cake. This is the reason that you should strive to build your network fast, earn points and use those points to rank up very fast towards manager level. You will start making very good money when you reach the manager level.
 7.    Build Leaders in your Network. One of the best ways to ensure you grow and earn good money in crowd1 is to ensure other people below you are making money. The only way you can do that is to help them to create their own networks and start earning. You need to show them the business and ensure they duplicate on how to empower others below them .It is when everyone wins when you yourself will win. The best way I have found to do this is the help each and every member below you to meet their fear of loss bonus as fast as possible. This way they will have money in their accounts and see the business is viable. This also motivates them to keep building and supporting those below them to make money.
 8.    Advertise your Business. The most effective way to earn in crowd1 and grow fast is to ensure you have fresh prospects daily. This means that you need to advertise your business so that you get to meet new people to present the business daily. There are many free and paid ways to advertise your business both online and off-line. For example you can use Facebook network marketing groups to advertise your business and get prospects. Another way is to use paid Facebook adverts, these work very well in contacting people from anywhere in the world. I have used these adverts on Facebook to create teams in 8 countries in less than 1 month. Another way to advertise your business is to post adverts on Google ads. These are expensive but they bring you a lot of traffic and conversions. You can also use fliers and pamphlets and ad-posts on advertising boards in supermarkets and other places.
 9.    Organise one on one business presentations. One-on-one business presentations are easy to plan and you can call someone today and meet them tomorrow for a business meeting. If you make it a habit of meeting at least 2 people daily to explain your business, you will start to grow your business. Doing one-on-one meetings will keep you productive throughout the week. They also convert better since you will give the client all your attention and they are able to ask their questions and get answers there and then. Make a habit to do as many as 4 or 5 one-on-one presentations daily and your business will take off vertically.
10.Arrange for seminars. Seminars can be small numbers or large hall type of seminars. They require more time to plan and can be costly to hire the hall, equipment and possibly drink. Seminars can be arranged for as few as 10 people all the way to hundreds of people. Seminars are the best and most effective method to present the business and recruit en masse. You and your small team may decide to start small by inviting 10 people and do the business presentation and then grow out from there. Make sure to prepare banners and registration forms where participants can fill in their names and contacts. These will be very important in follow ups to increase signup rates.

Early COVID Life (another from the vaults: 04/26/2020)
Excerpt from a personal history about 2020
March 15th was my last time in a restaurant as of April 26th. (ETA- as of November 15th, I’ve still not been to a restaurant in the US.)
The pandemic had been a conversation topic with both of the dates I’d been on the previous week. The screenings in some airports had begun in January and the first confirmed case in the US had been noted on January 21st. Back then it was still being called the “Wuhan Virus” because of its origins in the Wuhan province of China. Italy had gone on full lock-down back on February 23rd.
The ‘national emergency’ in the US was announced on March 13th- the same day as my first “first date” with a border patrol agent.
The panic buying, specifically toilet paper hoarding, began that week as well. My brunch date told me that he had hired someone to do some work for him that morning. He had offered $300 and the guy said he would take $250 and a pack of toilet paper.
Basketball was the first sport to be cancelled on March 11th.. the Utah Jazz had 2 positive cases. Baseball, hockey, soccer, and the Olympic Games followed. For me, it was learning that the WWE had shut down that made it feel real. Not because I’m an avid fan these days but because they were the first to hold a major event after 9-11 when other people were still afraid to gather in crowds for fear of more attacks.
Utah was hit with a series of earthquakes in the midst of it all with the biggest one on March 18th.Oh, and there were 2 meteors that came, in relative terms, closer to hitting the earth than any others in decades. Can we say, end of the world feeling much?
The first ‘stay at home’ order was in California on March 19th. Blue states were still scoffing at it as ‘liberal fake news’ in the wake of tweets like this from 45:
Tumblr media
By March 23rd several other states issued similar orders.
Here in AZ it wasn’t official until March 31st.
On April 3rd CDC guidelines were released recommending cloth face coverings when in public in addition to the ‘social distance’ recommendation of staying 6’ or more from other people. An old friend in CA was making masks so I ordered 2 from her.
Monday, April 13th was the first trip into the grocery store since the pandemic began. My best friend picked me up at 6:45am and I gave her one of the two masks that arrived from California a couple days before. We pulled up to Walmart and saw a line of people outside waiting for the 7am opening. By this point, stores had begun limiting hours in order to properly sanitize things each night and some places started giving senior citizens an extra hour before general opening 1-2 times each week.
Our face masks were made of cotton on the inside and denim on the outside. I made the mistake of not taking my gum out of my mouth before putting mine on which only added to the difficulty breathing. On top of that, my glasses fogged up over and over again. It was awful.
The store itself didn’t seem too bad. The toilet paper aisle was about 10% stocked. The usual brands weren’t there and signs hung on empty shelves that said it was limited to one package per household. I got myself a pack of the Great Value brand, even though I had several rolls still at home. I also bought 2 two-packs of my dish gloves because they were another item that had become hard to come by.
My basket was filled with frozen tater tots, steak fries and jalapeno poppers... junk food that I normally wouldn’t keep in the house, along with 2 packs of my favorite cookies, tuna, shampoo (2 big bottles) and deodorant even though I wasn’t out of either, command strips for hanging the 2 puzzles I’d recently completed, Kleenex because they had them in stock and had been hard to come by, mini loaf pans because I was baking banana bread before it was trendy, and instant coffee because I wanted to try the whipped coffee thing I kept seeing online.
I spent $100 and got $40 in cash that I would later turn into quarters for laundry and water bottle refills.
It has felt like Groundhog’s Day… work, dinner, couch, bed, stare at the darkness, and eventually fall asleep and do it again.
I’ve had even more trouble than usual concentrating at work and instead find myself scrolling Facebook incessantly. Earlier this month, my department fired 3 people and transferred another out to her previous position which has made me that much more nervous about my job. Despite that, I’ve still struggled to get motivated to do the work I’ve just been assigned including a new course to create and an article talking about what my company is doing for our customers “during this time.”
I began watching the daily ‘Coronavirus Briefings’ from the White House as often as possible just because I’ve found that words really can’t capture just how awful the scene is. One day they showed a video that was all about the administration’s “terrific” response to the virus. Reporters described the video as a campaign video and when questioned about a missing chunk of time in it between the end of January when the Commander-in-Tweet said he had ‘bought time’ for the country and early March when they officially announced a national emergency 45 had his now-standard tantrum including, calling reporters “fake news” and attacking their credibility rather than giving any kind of answer.
Another day last week 45 started rambling on about possible cures including injecting UV light or disinfectants into patients. I immediately messaged the co-worker who has been posting about this kind of thing daily and told her that the next big episode would be about people injecting household disinfectants.
Within 24 hours Lysol, Clorox and other household cleaning companies released statements telling people NOT to consume or inject their products. This is the world we live in.
Also last week, the governor of Nevada broke CNN’s Anderson Cooper with her lack of reasoning about how and why Las Vegas should re-open. There have been protests in several states as people who have been unemployed for weeks with only a single $1200 check from the government to help are demanding the economy re-open now. These protests have included masked (white) men holding guns and people with signs such as the one that read “My body, my choice” with an image of a face mask. All the while, other states have used the pandemic as a way of further restricting abortion access calling them ‘non-emergency medical procedures.’
People have applied for unemployment en masse while 2 trillion dollars in federal funds, grants, and loans “designed to help small businesses” (The CARES Act) were snatched up almost immediately. Some funds were granted to large publicly traded companies including as Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse ($20M) and Potbellies’ ($10M). They are among a handful of these companies who are returning the money only after public outcry.
I’m scared.
Not of the virus necessarily, my county has just passed 30 cases which pales in comparison to a lot of other places, but I’m scared for how this is changing “normal” in terms of social interactions that would have typically lead to deeper bonds and eventually, hopefully, a new relationship for me.
A couple weeks ago, I loaned my sewing machine to a friend. She’s been notoriously anti-social and when I came by she invited me to hang out at a “social distance” for a bit. We ended up sitting on the concrete outside her front door about 5’ apart for about an hour just chatting. For her to feel the need for socializing is big. It’s on par with me having the urge to exercise (which hasn’t happened… yet).
I’m scared for my friend in Baltimore whose partner is a nurse in New York where the bodies have been piling up for weeks. He works for the Smithsonian and has been able to work from home for all but one day/week. Coping with the isolation for him has included turning meals into art that he posts along with the daily videos of his strongman feats and the occasional live shows with other performers who are struggling financially.
I’m scared for the New Jersey firefighter who told me about the increase in kitchen fires because people who never cooked are having to do so for the first time. He then told me about a friend that lost both her parents to COVID. She was unable to be with them in their final hours and their bodies were put into refrigerated trucks because there isn’t enough room in the morgues now.
If something happens to him, I’ll never know. He’s not on social media and we don’t have any friends in common who could tell me about it. He could just disappear one day. Or he could just appear. He’s talked about running away from his life for the last 5 years and I think this is really showing him that it’s time to make a change.
I’m scared for the friend in WA working 80+ hours a week between his two jobs. His health was shaky before his daughter’s murder in November 2018 and he lived in his car for months during the trial. He is finally working and has a roof over his head but is in contact with people daily who could potentially get him sick. Again. Because he was one of the people whose blood was being tested for antibodies, assuming he had already had COVID and survived.
I’m scared for my ex-husband who retired from the Army and moved to DC for his dream job right before the lock-downs started. The start date for his dream job was pushed back, and his last Army paycheck was getting closer and closer. Fortunately his resume is one that allowed him to start another job rather quickly and he just got an official start date at the dream job. But he is alone with the dogs, trying to rebuild himself and his life much in the way I am right now.
We had friends in the area from the 3 years we lived there, but the virus means that all of the parties he wanted to go to that I wasn’t comfortable with… those parties may never return. They don’t have the grocery pick up options I have here, and his health has been an issue of concern for a long time.
His girlfriend in the quad was a nurse who said that he had the ‘trifecta for a heart attack’ with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. We are still legally married on paper so I have health insurance and am the primary beneficiary on his life insurance, but money can’t replace him.
We may be separated but he is my family… and the only family I’ve really got.  And money wouldn’t make it any easier for me to have to re-arrange my life again and somehow go get the dogs if, Gods forbid, something were to happen to him.
It’s all a mess. It shouldn’t be such a big decision to go grocery shopping.
Seeing people in movies and TV just casually touching one another and hugging shouldn’t seem so foreign already… but it is and it does. I know that we will never got back to the way it was. Masks are going to be part of my wardrobe for the foreseeable future.
Just meeting a new person for coffee will feel riskier than unprotected sex, which makes dating a completely different experience… assuming I bite the bullet and reactivate my OkCupid account at all. And rather than calling my best friend and going out for lunch right now, I’m going to go stare at my stocked pantry with ‘nothing to eat’ and end up having leftover biscuits and gravy before putting on something resembling clothes, even if it’s just so I can take the trash out.
This is my life right now. This is the world we live in.

Tumblr media
Barbados under Tropical Storm Watch: THE BARBADOS METEOROLOGICAL Services has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Barbados. This means tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 48 hours. At 5:00 a.m. Tropical Storm “Dorian” was centered near 11.0N 51.6W or about 555 miles (890 km) east-southeast of Barbados. The system continues to move towards the west at 13 mph (20 km/h) and on this track, the center of Dorian is expected to pass over or near Barbados late Monday/early Tuesday.Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65km/h), with tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 25 miles (40 km) from the center. The minimum central pressure is 1008mb (29.77inches).Sustained surface winds between 25 to 35 mph (40 to 55 km/h) with gusts to storm force are expected to spread across Barbados Monday afternoon and persist into Tuesday. In addition, pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected. Rainfall accumulations of at least 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 millimetres) are possible late Monday into Tuesday with isolated higher amounts. As a result, some flash-flooding is likely in low-lying areas thus, residents are urged to be on the alert and take all necessary precautions.
(SS)
RESIDENTS URGED TO READY THEMSELVES FOR DORIAN: Barbadians have been asked to ready themselves for the passage of Tropical Storm Dorian. Speaking after a tropical storm watch was issued for Barbados which  means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within 48 hours, Director of the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), Kerry Hinds, reminded residents to listen to advisories issued through the Met Office, DEM and the Barbados Government Information Service.Hinds is urging the public to ensure that they have their emergency kits, batteries, water, canned goods, and other emergency supplies on hand. Persons should also have emergency plans and important documents close by. The Director further stressed that persons should also ensure the safety of their elderly relatives and be aware of the emergency shelters closest to them. “Don’t wait until it is too late to take precautions. Please remember, it only takes one system to cause disruption,” Ms. Hinds stressed.  (SS)
BARBADOS, TRINIDAD DRAW CLOSER: Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago are forging a closer relationship – one they hope will be profitable for both countries. The deal relates to new gas and oil wells being discovered between their territories.Yesterday, Prime Minister Mia Mottley and her Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, Dr Keith Rowley, expressed optimism that this new partnership would redound to Barbados’ potential as a gas-producing nation. This point was noted especially by Rowley who revealed that the first set of wells drilled by way of exploratory drilling of Block 14, which is about 85 miles off the twin-island republic’s east coast but on Barbados’ borderline, have been successful which indicate to them that there was potential in that area and across the line in Barbados. (SS)
ARTHUR TO CHAIR GLOBAL BODY:Government has contracted former Prime Minister Owen Arthur to chair a new global commission to examine some of the critical small island issues ahead of next year’s United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) XV in Barbados. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Arthur, who is currently Professor of Practice, Economics of Development at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, have already held preliminary discussions. The Barbados-sponsored Global Commission on Small Island Developing States – Trade Development Options 2020, are expected to prepare papers on issues ranging from the high indebtedness of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to global warming and the impact of artificial intelligence.
A release yesterday from the Prime Minister’s press secretary Roy Morris, stated that the commissioners would be selected from around the globe and would meet both face-to-face and virtually. A secretariat to support the commission and its work would soon be set up. “Their research will also cover topics such as the development of a realisable modern trade agenda; an assessment of the current state of SIDS; graduation from access to financing; vulnerability; a narrow economic base enhancing dependence on a small range of products; areas of potential transformation; creative economies; and the development of small enterprises,” the released stated. It was also noted that papers produced by the commission would be considered in the lead up to Barbados’ chairmanship and hosting of UNCTAD XV in 2020.(SS)
MAYERS RALLIES DLP FAITHFUL: National Hero and “Father of Independence”, the Right Excellent Errol Barrow is probably turning in his grave at the current state of the island, said Democratic Labour Party (DLP) general secretary Guyson Mayers, who charged that under Prime Minister Mia Mottley’s watch since May 2018, Barbados has been hit by the emergence of an “industry of begging”. “All of Barbados is challenged at this time, not only the DLP. People have to find ways to cut and contrive. I am saddened to say that I have seen an emergence of begging in Barbados that I have never seen before. We have an industry of begging in Barbados. That is a situation that Barbadians have never been proud of,” Mayers told a large crowd in attendance at the opening ceremony of the party’s 64th annual general conference on Friday night.“Errol Barrow must be turning in his grave when he looks on what is happening in Barbados, when somebody who used to call him ‘Uncle Errol’ could be inflicting this kind of pain on Barbadians,” he added. (SS)
UPDATE: BODY FOUND AT SILVER HILL: No foul play is suspected in the death of 71-year-old O’Brian Edghill whose body was discovered earlier today at Green Hill Close, Silver Hill, Christ Church. Edghill was found in his garage inside a truck, and it is being treated as a sudden death at this time. His brother Eucline Edghill, who lives nearby, said he last spoke to O’Brian on Wednesday where they discussed what to do with a beehive on the latter's property. He said he received a call earlier to come to his brother’s house where the police were already gathered. A neighbour said she saw the elderly man yesterday. He was wearing a jacket and indicated he was trying to get some help to remove a beehive from his yard. The area was cordoned off while police conducted investigations. Several members of Edghill's family were at the scene. (SS)
MORE ROAD CONGESTION AHEAD: Motorists are bracing themselves for even more congestion on the heavily used Green Hill, St Michael roadway. That’s because on Friday workmen at the Ministry of Transport, Work and Maintenance (MTW) recommenced work on the construction of an island at the junction of Highway 2A Green Hill and the Lodge Plantation Road (near Pricesmart). In a notice to the public, the ministry stated that the left turn leading to Lodge Plantation Road (the road to Pricesmart) will be closed between the working hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday for the next three weeks. It urged motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling near the worksite as excavation will be taking place there, and workmen will be about.(SS)
BWA EXPERIENCING PUMP FAILURE AT NEW MARKET PUMPING STATION:The Barbados Water Authority wishes to inform residents and businesses in parts of St George, St Michael and Christ Church that it is experiencing a pumping problem at its Newmarket facility, which is in turn expected to impact the Hanson and Fort George reservoirs. As a result customers in some districts may experience low pressure or outages due to reduced production from that pumping station. The affected areas may include: St George: Hanson Hill, South District, Buckley Meadows, Ellerton, Ellerton Gardens, Buttals, Turnpike, Constant, Dash Valley and surrounding areas.St Michael: My Lord’s Hill, Bonnets, Brittons Hill, Pine, Parkinson Field, Wildey, Wildey Terrace, Clapham, Flagstaff, Highgate, Highgate Gardens, Rock Close, Gas Product Road, Valley Development, Lower Burney, Upton, Fort George and surrounding districts.Christ Church: Forde’s Road, Rendezvous, Regency Park, Sargeant’s Village, Vauxhall, Adams Castle, Briar Hall, Graeme Hall, Warners Terrace, Tino Terrace, Kendall Hill, Kent Ridge, St Elizabeth Park, Frere Pilgrim, Cox road, St David’s, Edey Village, Skeene’s Hill, Coral Ridge and surrounding areas. Residents in these districts are advised to catch some water to assist them in the event of an outage. Water tankers will also be dispatched to assist the affected areas. The BWA apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may cause. (BT)
NUMBERS UP FOR SPICE MAS: Grenada tourism officials say an estimated 2 000 Trinidad and Tobago nationals visited the island for the recently held annual Carnival celebrations, making it the best performing Caribbean Community (CARICOM) market for the tourism sector. The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) said however, the United States with visitor arrivals of 6 818 or an increase of 21 per cent over last year, was the best performing market overall, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with a seven per cent increase or 1 973 visitors.“Grenada records a 7.7 per cent increase in arrivals for the 2019 festival of 13 327 compared to 12 379. This figure is a measure of the visitors and diaspora arriving in the destination, prior to Carnival Monday. Of the 13 327 stayover visitors, 10 505 were tourists and 2 822 were Grenadians residing abroad,” the GTA said, noting that the growth is attributed to additional airlift including three extra flights by the regional airline, LIAT, increased marketing and the global recognition of Grenada’s artistes, culture and music.Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen said “the numbers speak to the growing interest in Spicemas as one of the best Carnivals to visit in the Caribbean. “Our people make the experience memorable and enjoyable with their warm hospitality and visible pride in their music and culture,” she said. Carnival 2020 is carded for August 10 and 11.The GTA said that Grenada’s soca, groovy and calypso music coupled with its authentic and distinctly unique offerings of Jab Jab and Monday Night Mas, served to wow visitors and highlight what sets Spicemas apart from other Carnivals.“2019 also saw a marked increase in participation with 12 bands parading for the Monday Night Mas street party. The masqueraders revelled to the rhythms of carnival and lit up the night sky with a plethora of colourfully branded t-shirts, lighted hats and wands. Fancy Mas on Carnival Monday and Tuesday also saw increased participation from bands and masqueraders with bejewelled costumes, pageantry and storytelling,” the release added. (SS)

Evacuation Nation
Exactly two weeks ago, I got in my car and drove out of the Florida Keys. It was a bizarre experience, and I’ll probably be processing it for a while, but I wanted to get at least some of my thoughts down before they become too hazy. So this is part diary entry, part reassuring everyone who has spent the last two weeks saying “oh my gosh don’t you live in the Keys are you okay?!?!”
So to start off: yes! I am okay! And I can now check “survived a hurricane” off my bucket list. Now that that’s out of the way, here’s what happened:
I went to bed on Sunday, September 3rd not really giving a second thought to Irma. The storm looked like it was going to head up the east coast, like Matthew had last year. And Matthew had barely affected the Keys at all; I had spent the evening Matthew “hit” painting and hanging out with friends. I assumed Irma would be more of the same. So I went to bed without a care in the world, and calmly drove to work Monday ready to start my week (yes, I worked on Labor Day. I take care of live animals, remember?).
The news that greeted my coworker and me when we booted up the computer that morning was…not great. Turned out Irma had shifted in the night, and was now headed straight for the Keys. It had also grown insanely huge, and was expected to reach Category 5 sooner rather than later. In case you aren’t familiar with the Keys, we’re a bunch of tiny rocky islands and anything higher than a Category 2 can be pretty devastating. That being said, hurricanes usually skirt around the Keys, either heading up the Atlantic coast or looping through the Gulf. We haven’t been hit by a major storm in a long time, but everyone still clearly remembered the damage from Wilma and Andrew. By noon Monday, it was pretty clear we were going to have to evacuate. I called my parents at lunch, reminded them I had a good car with brand new tires, and that I knew lots of people in Florida I could stay with. In the afternoon we started strategizing and prepping all the fish tanks, thinking that we would have another few days at least before we really had to leave. We also spent a lot of time refreshing spaghetti models and sort of laughing hysterically (hysterical laughter became a reoccurring theme throughout this whole process). I drove home at the end of the day, and started half-heartedly sorting through my clothes, telling myself I would really start making decisions on Tuesday.
Tuesday morning, we had a mandatory staff meeting. While I work in Key West, I live near the lab and the most recent models had Irma headed straight for us. And it was now EVEN BIGGER. There were talks of breaking records, and a few hyperbolic rumors of creating a new “Category 6” (these proved to be false, but not as far fetched as we might have hoped!). Priority one was making sure we all had a way to get out of the Keys, and somewhere to go once we reached the mainland. At the risk of getting too sappy, it was really heartwarming to see everyone I work with step right up to support each other. There were offers of rides and food and places to sleep, and before we knew it everyone had a plan. Then we moved into full on hurricane prep mode, and I drove down to Key West.
Probably the most surreal part of the whole thing was Tuesday morning at the Eco Center. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to give all the tanks their best possible chance of surviving through the storm. Meanwhile, we were still open, and tourists kept coming in and asking me for things like restaurant recommendations. Cue more hysterical laughter. At noon, we finally officially closed.
I spent the rest of the afternoon prepping the Eco Center and making phone calls and trying not to freak out. My coping mechanism of choice was blasting the new Kesha album (a coping mechanism I 100% recommend, because that album is incredible). My inner monologue went something like: “Where are the D batteries …yes, Mom, there’s gas in my car…I HOPE YOU’RE SOMEWHERE PRAAAAAAAYIN’…should I move the lionfish to the big tank or will it eat everybody…I HOPE YOUR SOUL IS CHAAAAAANGIN’…is that fish acting weird or am I acting weird.” And repeat. For hours. Then, I drove home.
Sorting through my stuff at my house is an experience I never want to repeat. I didn’t want to be paranoid, but reliable sources were forecasting a Category 5 storm headed directly for my house, and my house is ground level. It didn’t look good. So I had to decide what I wanted to load into my car, and what I wanted to leave behind. Most of my clothes quickly dropped in priority, as I realized that I seriously need a wardrobe overhaul. I’ve worked at field stations too long and most of my clothes are free souvenir t-shirts with paint on them. But all my books went straight into the back of my car, as well as some craft supplies and favorite wall art. Some of the books I didn’t even care about that much, but the idea of leaving them to be ravaged by a hurricane was so horrifying to me that I took them all anyway. Once everything was packed, I took a shower, put my betta fish in a gallon jug (really), and got in my car. I took a long look at my little blue house, trying to absorb it and prepare for the worst, but I’m not sure it really sunk in.
Tumblr media
As I drove up the Keys I caught myself thinking things like, “Will that house still be there? Will I be able to go to that restaurant again? Will this bridge hold up?” Then I would snap myself out of it for a little while, and tell myself not to be so morbid. I’m a positive, happy person! What was wrong with me? But I didn’t want to miss appreciating the Keys as they were, just in case. It’s a strange line to walk, and I’m not sure I walked it well. So I talked to my parents, listened to music, and tried to think of it as a vacation. But the guilt at leaving all my critters behind was hard. I knew that I had given them the best chance, and that trying to move them would be worse for them than the storm, but I couldn’t help but feel that I abandoned them. Every time I passed any of the various and numerous animal centers in the Keys it was like a punch to the gut.
I spent Tuesday night with some wonderful friends in Boca, where we watched the news and laughed hysterically some more. Then the next morning I headed up to my aunt and uncle’s house in Orlando. By Wednesday afternoon, I was officially evacuated. As of Monday night, I hadn’t even planned on STARTING to evacuate until Thursday morning. Irma got serious real quick.
This is the part of the story where I start feeling guilty for a different reason: I had a really nice time in Orlando. I know a lot of people (most people even) had a very stressful time, and were couch surfing and staying in hotels, but I got an actual bed and got to hang out with family. I spent the week eating really good vegan food, watching documentaries, and reading books. We even went to a play! Then on Sunday morning, Irma hit the Keys.
I had already watched Irma pass over the Turks and Caicos, where I studied abroad, and that was hard enough. There was extensive damage, but thankfully no fatalities. At this point Irma had changed tracks a couple of times, so we weren’t entirely sure how directly the Keys were going to be hit. As it turned out, the eye of the storm passed directly over my house. That experience was surreal. After all the uncertainty, all the hopes, I had to sit on a couch in Orlando and watch one of the biggest storms in history go exactly where I hadn’t wanted it to go. I kept thinking of my little blue house, and how much I loved it, and how much we had all worked fixing it up over the last two years. I got weirdly focused on the fact that I had left my giant bottle of mouthwash in the bathroom cabinet (I just bought it! What a waste!). By Sunday evening, I was a mess. I was tired, stressed, and going a bit stir crazy. And Irma hadn’t even hit Orlando yet.
Tumblr media
In the end, that may have worked in my favor. Irma was downgraded to a Category 2 by the time in reached Orlando, and at that point I was sort of done with emotions. I’d spent them all already. I was a little concerned about tornadoes, but honestly? I just wanted to go to bed. So if you were hoping for a vivid personal account of the actual storm, you’re out of luck. I essentially said “Only a Category 2? Whatever.” and passed out (after more hysterical laughter, of course). Seriously, I slept through the whole thing. Apparently a tornado touched down about four miles north of me, but I didn’t even know that happened until days later. We lost power, and had some downed tree debris, but the whole neighborhood got together to help clean it up. It was actually kind of nice. Plus, my uncle had bought an inverter for his electric car, so we had power without having to worry about a generator. We could power the fridge, fans, charge any and all electronic devices, and even set up a wireless hotspot to get online. We had a pretty sweet setup.
The rest, you probably know. There was widespread devastation in the Keys, and they closed the whole county. I ended up flying north to see my parents (and reassure them that I was alive!), waiting for things to reopen. I’ve been watching everything secondhand, just like everybody else. I will say that social media has been HUGELY helpful in all of this. Those safety check-ins helped me sleep at night.
Miraculously, my house seems to have escaped serious damage. I’ll finally get back to the Keys Thursday morning, and I know seeing the destruction first hand is going to be hard (even through there has already been a lot of recovery!). I may write another post once I see everything for myself, but for now, know that I am safe and well. I still have a place to live (even if it currently doesn’t have any power or running water!), and I’m headed back to work.
Stay safe everyone, and think about donating to various recovery funds. Especially Caribbean islands getting hit again by hurricane Maria.

There Are Actually 7 Senses, And This One Often Flies Under The Radar
Let’s count them off, okay? The five senses. Touch, smell, sight, taste and hearing. That’s it, right? I remember in elementary school really digging into those five. What does it sound like? Smell like? Feel like? My four-year-old loves this book about a missing kitten. Each page has something from the five senses on it, and it guides her through each one to find out that the cat on that particular page isn’t her missing kitten because it’s paws are too rough, or it’s bell is too shiny. I studied writing in college, and the five senses were huge. My instructors would write in the margins of my papers “What did the room smell like” or “What color was the carpet?”
But it was always five, never seven.
Time for a confession, until recently, I had no idea that there are actually seven senses. In fact, there’s an online movement to recognize the other two: vestibular and proprioception.
Now check it out, I had a hard time pronouncing these too, so perhaps that’s the issue with them catching on, but just so we are all on the same page, proprioception deals with sensing what your different body parts are doing without looking at them. But the sense I really want to discuss in this article is the vestibular sense, also known as the balance sense, because it’s pretty important to children.
If you’ve got a young kid at home, you’ve probably wrestled them off the back of the couch, or asked them to stop leaping from the coffee table to the easy chair, or looked at them with confused eyes, trying to figure out how they were able to do an arched crab walk across the living room without actually breaking in half. All those wiggles and flexibility, and leaping and spinning and hanging upside down that toddlers and preschoolers love so much, that’s them developing their vestibular sense.
According to a recent article by 100 Hours Outside, “The vestibular sense goes back to the incredibly small hairs inside the inner ear. When we move, the fluid in our ears moves and stimulates those hairs, sending the brain information about where our body is in space. The more a child is out of an upright position, the more the fluid will move over the hairs, and the stronger the vestibular sense will become.”
I often look at half of the wild things my four-year-old feels compelled to do and wonder if she is either 100% fearless (which is probably true) or simply wants to give me a heart attack, or both. Probably both. But it turns out she’s actually trying to develop her inner balance, so the frustrating reality is, all that risky stuff she does actually serves an important purpose. Yes, I am aware that I just said a four-year-old did something with a purpose. Here we are.
Naturally, I couldn’t help but wonder what happens if a child doesn’t develop their vestibular sense? Well, that’s a good question, and according to a recent article in the Washington Post on why children shouldn’t spend so much time sitting at a desk, “Changes in body position help develop the vestibular system… and physical activity… helps develop the executive function part of the brain where new learning is processed. Executive function includes cognition, organization, focus, emotional regulation, and the ability to multitask, all of which help students succeed academically.”
I don’t want to state the obvious, but those are all some important functions, and I would like my children to have them all functioning to the best of their ability.
But here’s the catch, getting children out on uneven ground where they can wiggle, hang, swing, tumble, and run isn’t as easy as it used to be. When my oldest two were little, we lived in an apartment complex on the 3rd floor. There wasn’t a playground, the people below us seemed to be always banging on the ceiling because our children were being too rambunctious, and I once got threatened with a fine for allowing my kids to use sidewalk chalk (yeah, the place sucked, but let’s stay focused).
It wasn’t as easy as sending them into the back yard. I had to drive them to the park, which I actually loved doing, but at the same time it took… well, time — which, as young father struggling to make ends meet, I didn’t exactly have an abundance of. There’s also the reality that playground equipment in America isn’t what it once was. It’s safer now, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but gone are the days of the wickedly awesome merry go round and those massive seesaws that really got the juice flowing in a child’s inner ear.
And, frankly, children are spending more time in the classroom, and less time outside. According to a recent New York Times report, some elementary schools are offering as little as 20 minutes of unstructured play per day. Yeah, think about how bad that sucks for our kids, and how it can impede their development.
Engaging in activities that hone the vestibular sense can be overwhelming and challenging for kids with sensory processing issues. But according to the Springbrook Autism Behavioral Health, website vestibular sensory integration activities such as the following can be comfortable ways for a child on the spectrum to develop the 7th sense:
– Swinging
– Sliding
– Riding a rocking horse
– Jumping on a trampoline
Springbrook Autism Behavioral Health also notes, “Any movement activity will engage the vestibular system, and vestibular activities can be both stimulating for the under-responsive child and calming for the over-responsive or sensory seeking child.” It’s important to be sensitive to your child’s needs and limits, and never to force movement.
I think what this all boils down to is that it is important for us to acknowledge the vestibular sense, because as parents, we are going to need to help our children develop it. And yeah, I get it. The last thing any parent needs is one more thing to worry about, but if you needed an excuse to let the kids play a little more on the furniture, here it is. If you were looking for a good reason to get out of the house and hit the park, you’ve got one. If you’re wondering why you’re running around town to get your kids to their various sports’ activities, here’s the reason. And if you are the kind of person with a desire to move gears at your school, ask for more recess time, because it is, in fact, important. You’ve got proof.

Osama Bin Dramaturgy: Knaive Theatre @ Edfringe 2017
Explosive Osama Bin Laden Show Returns To Edinburgh Fresh From US Tour
“Tonight, ladies and gentlemen,
I am going to show you how to change the world”
BIN LADEN: THE ONE MAN SHOW returns to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 2nd-28th August at C (Venue 34).
The world’s most notorious terrorist tells his story in BIN LADEN: THE ONE MAN SHOW a remarkable, provocative and multi-award-winning production from Knaïve Theatre.
The twist? Bin Laden is 28 years old, White British and charming as cream teas in summer. After a critically acclaimed and highly successful American Tour, this ‘must-see’ production returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it originally premiered, from 2nd-28th August before beginning a UK tour that includes The Royal Exchange Theatre, The Sherman and The New Wolsey.
What was the inspiration for this performance?
We don’t want to give away too much of the show, but what we can say is that we believe that the best theatre tries to understand the world, and even the most terrible actions within it. A quest for understanding was the starting point for this show.
Is performance still a good space for the public discussion of ideas?
We hope so! In our experience audiences are becoming more and more eager to see work that provokes them to discussion. Theatrical performance can – like very little else - combine the messy and personal with the universal and academic, the imaginative with the factual; and immerse you in a dialectic world of ideas, images and stories and confront you with things you might have never wanted to consider before. That, to us, provides very fertile ground for the public discussion of ideas – particularly ideas we might rather not discuss.
How did you become interested in making performance?
We were both engaged with performance making from a frighteningly young age. At age 3 Sam (the actor) spent whole days as his female alter-ego, Madam (complete with pearl necklaces and red leather handbags). He would also put on strange musical comedies with his two older brothers for their parents’ “benefit” which mostly involved Sam flinging himself about the living room trying to catch an imaginary cow and milk it.
Tyrrell (the director) spent his early years refusing to wear anything but his Thunderbird Two costume and spent his university days (while apparently studying politics) refusing to do anything but theatre. We met in 2012 working for the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth and began making theatre together in 2013 with this show!
Is there any particular approach to the making of the show?
This show came about through heartbreak, particularly awful accommodation in London and a lot of rum – a long story we will happily tell when asked! It was made through 3 months of intensive research, reading and watching everything we could lay our hands on related to Bin Laden.
Then we locked ourselves away in various parts of the world (to stave off insanity) and experimented with the source material, wrote, improvised, invited some people to impart some thoughts with us and eventually we had something looking like a show and opened it – terrified – at the Buxton Fringe. Since then we have rewritten, developed and taken further risks every time we have taken the show out. So not a particular approach, more a desire to provoke the most exciting debate we can with the extraordinary story of this man.
Does the show fit with your usual productions?
We haven’t yet tied ourselves to an approach as a theatre company. We try to let the form be governed by how best to communicate the content of the piece. We have, since Bin Laden made immersive games-based theatre (Power To The North), a Dance-Theatre adaptations of Baal with Impermanence Dance Theatre, Public Understanding of Science Theatre (Pain, The Brain & A Little Bit of Magic) and we are currently working on an adaptation of 1936 apocalyptic Sci-Fi novel, War With The Newts, with writer Tim Foley.
Although in form our work is broad, we have a very focussed intention which unifies all of the work we have created so far: to create dangerous theatre which engages and empowers audiences into vibrant discussions around the political dialectics of our time.
What do you hope that the audience will experience?
The audience will experience, not just watch, an incredible story and a world-changing journey. We hope they will experience, as we have done, something that will change the way they view the world, perhaps in some small but very real way.
We hope they will experience something they never expected. But mostly, we hope they experience an unforgettable evening that lasts far longer than the Edinburgh hour; long into the night with fellow audience members, and long into their lives as they share their experience with others.
What strategies did you consider towards shaping this audience experience?
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Times; color: #2d2d2d} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 9.5px Arial; color: #ff2600} p.p3 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Times; color: #2d2d2d; min-height: 14.0px}
Let’s just say that we did a lot of research into American self-help culture…but what that means, you’ll have to come see to find out. The audience experience is still evolving, in front of our very eyes. The more we have performed the show (the 28th August is our 100th performance) the more we have realised that the audience experience is key to the success of the show.
So we have crafted and honed that experience over 4 years, and it is still growing. Every time we tour the show we challenge our assumptions about the last time and challenge ourselves to see if we can go further.
With populist rhetoric playing an ever-increasing role in Western politics, Knaïve Theatre’s Tyrrell Jones and Sam Redway pry apart what it is that draws us to follow demagogues, asking if the world’s most wanted terrorist might have been more persuasive than we ever imagined. They ask audiences to re-examine their own information and prejudices from a naïve perspective, just as the company have.
The award-winning hit of the fringes in San Diego and Hollywood, Bin Laden returned home to perform a sell-out show at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. Knaïve Theatre are now Supported Artists at the Exchange and have redeveloped the show with the help of the theatre’s creative team ready for a return to Edinburgh before the company’s first national tour.
Having provoked important and timely debate surrounding Middle East conflict and the War On Terror internationally, they will now bring that discussion to a national audience. Though they expected this story would become less relevant, current global tensions and recent events have galvanised an ever-increasing appetite for the debate they inspire.
Bin Laden was made in 2013 on a shoestring by Tyrrell Jones and Sam Redway. After previews in Buxton and London, it opened at Edinburgh and the show was awarded the first Broadway Bobby of 2013. It was in The List’s Top 5 Theatre Shows To See and received a host of first-rate reviews. Quickly, the show started selling out, and before long it was a hit. With the success of Edinburgh 2013 behind them, Tyrrell and Sam undertook formal training (Birkbeck MFA in Directing and RADA MA Theatre Lab respectively). They then redeveloped and toured the show, this time around USA with Arts Council AIDF funding.

Weekly Recap July 10th-16th
Hey everyone, sorry posts have been a bit scarce this week. But I’m back with my weekly recap, and it’s a long one. It’s been a big week for me mentally, and I’ll get into that later in the post, but let me start off with some stats and then we’ll jump into a few of the other sections of this post.
End weight (last week): 126 pounds
End weight (this week): 127.6 pounds
Clearly I ended this week a bit higher than last week, however I’m not too concerned because of some other developments this past week, again to be addressed below. But first, let’s address my goals from last week and see if I was able to accomplish it.
Goals: Week of July 10th-16th
Fitness/Weight Loss Goals:
·         Hit my 100+ oz of water goal all 7 days (I typically do this during the week days but get hella lazy during the weekends)- I drank 100+ ounces of water every day except for Friday, so this was almost a success.
·         Go all 7 days without a binge (lol this is ambitious, but would be a huge step in the right direction for me)- I binged 2 days this week and used laxatives once, and I’m not particularly happy with that.
·         Start and complete the first week of BBG- I started BBG, and did 2 of the 3 days this week. However, I did not particularly enjoy it, and don’t think I will be continuing it in the future.
·         Record everything I eat in MyFitnessPal (I actively use MFP [follow me @Gail_Allen_ if you wanna] but I tend to get lazy about tracking calories and end up just putting in a general guess for the day. My goal is to get more serious about tracking what I actually eat and to stop playing games with myself)- I did a much better job about tracking my day-to-day eating habits, however I wasn’t perfect and will be continuing to work towards perfecting my recording habits.
·         Hopefully end the week at 125 or 124 pounds- Did not achieve, I actually ended the week higher than last week.
·         As far as my other non-related fitness goals go, I did a poor job of keeping my room clean, did alright with studying for the LSAT (although I need to work more than I did) and I actually found my debit card so I didn’t have to cancel it.
So I’m going to get into a bit about mental health, because I’ve had a bit of a breakthrough in the past few days. I’m not sure if I should include a trigger warning or anything, but I will be discussing depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder.
I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, and binge eating/laxative abuse for about the past 4 years, maybe a bit longer. I just kind of accepted it as part of my life, and while I took some steps to make changes (journaling, exercising, talking to friends I trust) nothing ever seemed to stick. Then a few weeks ago I was in Italy with my family, and my mom actually mentioned an article she’d read linking anxiety to bursts of anger and frustration (lol subtle hint, thanks Mom). Another recent incident occurred in my LSAT prep course, when my instructor brought up the concept of testing anxiety. I have general day-to-day anxiety (everything seems stressful, I have a lot of irrational fears, things of that nature), but I also get EXTREMELY stressed out when it comes to tests, be it a small quiz or a midterm or final. It all feels like the end of the world to me, from a week leading up to the test through several days afterwards. I didn’t realize it was something I might be able to seek help for.
On Friday, after doing some quick research, I found out that my school has free mental health counselling through the clinic. I was able to get in just an hour after making a call. I spoke with a doctor and a nurse practitioner student, both of which were so kind and understanding. They prescribed me medication for anxiety as well as an additional medication for bulimia and depression. I’ve been on the pills for 2 days now, and I can honestly say I feel so much less stressed. I woke up today and felt like I could breathe, like nothing was weighing me down and that I could take on the world. I’m really, really excited to see how things progress, and if I’m able to get my binging under control in the coming weeks and months. If anyone is interested in my personal journey with mental health struggles, let me know, message me, anything, and I’ll be happy to talk to you about it. So, onto my goals for the coming week.
Goals for July 17th- 23rd
·         Hit my 100+ oz of water goal all 7 days (This is a weekly goal and will pretty much be here every week).
·         Go 7 days without a binge (hopefully much more attainable with the medication I’m on).
·         Go to the gym for at least 30 minutes every day.
·         Study at least 30 minutes every day for the LSAT.
·         End the week weighing less than I ended this week.
As usual, feel free to follow me on MFP, and as always message me or comment if you want, I’m always here and open to chat! Have a lovely Sunday evening!

Round 13 – Opening Bid: Three Clubs
West Bend Lakes Golf Course, West Bend, WI 53095 Par 72, Gold Tees, 5,573 yards Tuesday, March 28th, 2017, 10:35am, 46 degrees, 7 mph winds, mostly sunny Soft, very wet ground
Finally, the opportunity to play a full18 holes on an open course with no snow on the ground.  So this is my official “opening day” and it’s happening on a Tuesday instead of this past Sunday because last Sunday was rainy and cold and today would reach the 50’s with no chance of rain.  I took the week off of work to clear my head and think about what I want to do in the final 10 years of my career.  What better way to clear my head than walk 18 relaxing holes?  And my oldest daughter is also expecting her second child (my third grandchild) this week so I’m too excited about that to concentrate on work matters.   But not too excited to golf.  Au contraire.
I chose West Bend Lakes Golf Course, a new course for me that’s around 25 minutes west of Port Washington.  West Bend Lakes joins The Golf Course at Camelot and Horicon Hill Golf Course in a partnership that provides a common website, tee time reservations, green fee deals, leagues, etc.  The course has a lot of water and more so today as the fairways were still a bit soaked from the recent rains and melting snow.  Carts were allowed on the front but not on the back.  But I don’t need no stinkin’ carts. The green fees to walk 18 were just $24, but that’s more than I paid in total for fees for my first 12 rounds!
Tumblr media
Scenic par 3 16th
So for my first real round of 2017 I decided to stick with just 3 clubs and use my Divnick Whole-In-One club to cover my iron play.  A bold move. I had experimented with the Divnick last week but the jury was still out on how production ready it was.   My Nike putter and Taylor Made driver rounded out my simple 3 power club set.    I decided just to carry my 3 clubs and not utilize my goofy looking side holster like I had done for my winter rounds.  I still need to purchase an ultra lightweight stand bag for future 3 club rounds.  Anyways, my goal was to break 100 in today’s round.  Considering it was a new course for me, the fairways were spongy, I was walking 18 for the first time this year, and I was using the Divnick for only the second time - breaking 100 seemed like a decent challenge.
I played the soggy back nine first and wore my hiking boots to avoid soaking my feet.  The 10th hole was a par 5 and after a long drive I mishit a number of Divnick iron shots and finally three putted to post a nice little snowman 8 for my first official hole of the season.   Hmm, this could be an adventure.   The 12th thru 14th holes had very cool layouts with plenty of water in play – and my ball found the water on each of them, usually from an errant drive.  I slowly became more comfortable with the Divnick, especially on the short iron shots.   But I was still having issues hitting a long iron setting – like a 3 iron. The Divnick seemed to feel shaky when I took a big long iron swing – or maybe it was just in my head.  I ended up shooting a 50 on the back, which wasn’t too bad after starting 8 over on the first four holes.   This back nine watered layout was very entertaining and I’m looking forward to playing it in much drier conditions.
Tumblr media
Great 8th hole, 286 yards, par 4.  246 yards to clear the lake .
So I only needed to break 50 on the front nine to break 100 for the round.  After doubling with a three putt on the 1st, I thought I might be in trouble.  But I parred the 2nd and bogeyed the 3rd to get back on track. I threw up another abominable snowman score on the par 5 4th and it started to look bleak again.  I actually spanked my second shot with a 3-iron Divnick setting that went my normal 200 yard 3-iron distance, but off target enough to lose it in the woods off the fairway.  But there was hope for the Divnick now on all settings.  Somehow I found a spark and played the final 5 holes just 2 over par, parring 3 of them.   I could have easily parred all of them if I hadn’t 3 putted once and lost another ball in the water on the challenging 8th.   I finished with a 44 for the nine and a 94 for the round.  Challenge met.  No worries.
Final Score: 94.  4 pars, 4 lost balls, playing time 3 hours and 20 minutes.  What a great round of March golf in Wisconsin!  I shot close to bogey golf with just 3 clubs and I walked 18 holes with no back issues at all.  And I got a well deserved mental break from the office.  The Divnick club passed its big test with flying colors.  I’m looking forward to beating my buds with just my little 3 club set.   West Bend Lakes pleasantly surprised me as a nicely laid out course with plenty of personality, especially on the water side.  The clubhouse also served a great burger with homemade chips.  And today it hosted a friendly group of seniors playing cards, but none of them probably matching my opening bid of 3 clubs…

Earth ‘Quakes’ are really Implosions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(If you live near the ‘Ring of Fire,’ you’ll want to read this)
I’m someone who likes to dabble in a little bit of everything, and seismology is another one of those subjects which interests me. I monitor earthquake activity almost daily, and ’m a supporter of ‘Dutchsinse’ a YouTube seismologist/geologist who has been leading the globe in earthquake forecasting for years now, something leading experts have been denying until recently. I’ve also spent many many hours monitoring ‘Spectro Net,’  a Youtube channel which provides seismic data displays (around 100) from all over the world putting one in touch with the pulse or heartbeat of our planet. And I might be the first one to have figured something out, something no one else is talking about, something I can’t find anything about online. Until just this year, the USGS was even denying that earthquakes were related, and seismology is still a pretty new and developing field thanks to evolving technology, so it should not be a big surprise that people are still figuring things out and learning. I’ve only been into seismology and geology for half a year now, but it’s already OBVIOUS to me that  Earth ‘Quakes’ are really IMPLOSIONS.
So here is an excerpt from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) explanation of an earthquake:
“An earthquake (EQ) is the ground shaking caused by a sudden slip on a fault. Stresses in the earth's outer layer push the sides of the fault together. Stress builds up and the rocks slip suddenly, releasing energy in waves that travel through the earth's crust and cause the shaking that we feel during an earthquake. Faults are caused by the tectonic plates grinding and scraping against each other as they continuously and slowly move.”
However, what they left out or haven’t figured out is
A.) What is causing these movements of plates and stressing of fault lines, and
B.) That these ‘slip’s’ are the result of deeper implosions resulting from volcanic activity, as I propose to explain below.
Think about it:
As volcanoes erupt and spew lava, earth/dirt deep down below and around these volcanoes is sucked into the magma stream and transferred from the inside of the Earth to the outside. This movement would end up creating or carving out large voids or caverns down below. Over time, these deep voids increase in size, which would explain the building up of pressure along fault lines, until they end up collapsing from the weight and filling in! This massive amount of shifting dirt and implosion of large voids in the Earth’s interior would explain the origin of ‘Earth-quakes.’ As these deep large voids implode, Earth’s surface is sucked in which would explain continental drift. Unfortunately, this also might mean we are in a vicious cycle because there is evidence to suggest that these implosions can end up applying more pressure to volcanoes and in turn actually inducing an eruption (see below).
This correlation between volcanoes and earthquakes should be obvious when one considers that 90% of earthquakes are where 90% of Volcanoes are -the ‘Ring of Fire.’ The fact that 90% of continental drift is into the 'Ring of Fire,’ demonstrates that the Earth really is imploding there. This explains why California has experienced significant ground shifts of up to around 30+ feet after major quakes and appears to be sliding into the ocean. Therefore, it would be just as accurate to think of these ‘earth-quakes’ as ‘earth-implosions.’ You can’t have earth-implosions without volcanoes, otherwise there’s nowhere for dirt to move around inside the Earth’s interior. So long as volcanoes are spewing out Earth’s guts there will be interior movements and thus quakes. Consequently, the bigger the volcanic eruption, the bigger the movements inside the Earth, which means the bigger the quakes one can expect afterwards. However, as the evidence suggests, these movements can take years after an eruption as voids build up before collapsing under the weight of gravity.
So does this means ‘The Big One’ is really coming?
Unfortunately, for several reasons the answer is – absolutely. First off, evidence does show the implosions getting worse (see attached picture). It’s almost as if a catastrophic event, like a meteor strike, occurred thousands of years ago starting a chain reaction which is only going to end with most land under water. Secondly, volcanoes are not stopping. There are approximately 1,500 active volcanoes with around 50 erupting annually. It should be little wonder why there are thousands of earthquakes every single day. Think about it, our (Earth) guts are literally spilling out right now, and lava is literally melting Earth’s insides, causing collapses, which is what then forces an eruption. How can that end well?! Thirdly, but most importantly, the human population is exploding right along these dangerous areas as global leaders remains clueless. California, with a population of nearly 40 million, is literally breaking off into the ocean, yet leaders remain silent! Therefore, costly and deadly earthquakes will definitely increase.
If I wasn’t sure when I first surmised this theory, I was after doing the research. See below for a small compilation of data correlating top volcanic eruptions with top earthquakes. Maybe someone can take what I’ve started and run with it to produce something more professional and educational.
*All noted eruptions are with a VEI of 4+.

Tell me how it is right that insurance companies charge young adult males more than female for car insurance?
The answer I seem to get is it can be statistically proven that males are more aggressive, speed and get into more accidents. That may be the case, but I am sure you can prove that a particular ethnicitiy gets into more accidents too, or that people with a particular eye color get into more accidents or that people with an IQ below 100 get into more accidents. So why don't they charge them more for car insurance too? You can say insurance companies have the right to charge more if an event is more likely to happen, like Earthquake insurance is more expensive in California than it is in Michigan. The difference there is that when you charge Californians more there, you are basing it on an uncontrollable act of nature that is almost certain to happen, but when you charge that male more for car insurance you are making judgements about a person's character, making assumptions about his future behavior and financially punishing him for it before he has even done anything. Tell me where I am wrong""

How much do you think it would cost for a 20yr old to insure a toyota yaris?
Ok so I have my heart set on owning a Toyota yaris. I want a new ish car, I'm thinking of a 59 plate which would probably cost me around 6700, which I'm willing to spend. However I'm really confused by the insurance. In my head I anticipate that the insurance would cost me anywhere upto 2000 with me only being 20. But I went on a price comparison website and entered my details as accurately as possibly and it quoted me the lowest comprehensive cover price of about 500. I only want a 1.0 litre engine Toyota and I know that its in insurance group 2 or 3, but surely the insurance would be far more than that?! How much do you think it would cost to insure. Is it true that if you have full coverage insurance on a rental car... (please look inside)?
They can't ban you from renting from there for the rest of your life? OK. Back in 2005, I rented a car from Enterprise with FULL coverage insurance. 1 day I was on my way to school because I had a deadline to turn in a research paper that was 30% of our grade, & my sister 2x my age locked me in the house on purpose & thought it was funny. I got in the car, & drove it to school, & I panicked & got into a wreck & the car crashed into a tiny tree on the median. It was only a fender bender. But the company tried to say it was totaled for over $2,000 worth of damage. Everyone else who saw, said it was a fender bender. The twigs got inside the light on the left side of the front of the car. But that could've easily been fixed. Not sure. But the wheel alignment was messed up. Does that mean the car is totaled? What does TOTAL a car mean? That it couldn't be fixed? Well, I was just talking about it today, & a lot of people online had ganged up on me & attacked me. Now I'm feeling sad & hurt. About to cry. & they were calling me dumb, irresponsible, etc. Very hostile & angry @ me. They act like I wrecked THEIR personal car! People get into accidents all the time. I'm considering a move to Florida sooner or later, but I wanted to ask a quick question about insurance. The average premium for an unsubsidized, nongroup policy will cost 27-30% MORE. (same report) So won't private coverage decrease sharply ... And so too the fees collected from them ... which are suppose to pay for the subsidies . Or will really caring people flock to buy this extra expensive insurance?""
Car insurance excess?
My car is now only worth between 200 - 300 so if it was involved in an accident I doubt the insurance would repair...& write it off. Insurance is due for renewal & I have a 250 voluntary excess, which means that I would end up with nothing in the event of a crash. If I increase my vol. excess to 500 the premium goes down by about 30 which looks like a good idea to me but. If my car was written off due to an accident with another vehicle would I still have to pay the 500 vol. excess towards repair of the other vehicle or does the excess relate only to my car in this situation?""

Car insurance renewal - is it compulsory ?
I had accident earlier this year(few months ago) wasn't my fault and other side admitted it but they still haven't paid for damages so the case is still open. I have been told by my car insurance company that they don't know where is the problem but as final bill hasn't been paid as a result my car renewal will go up as my previous 4 years no claim will vanish for now. Apparently once the other side pays what they should then they reduce my monthly payments accordingly as they take no claims years(this is 5 th year into account.) My question is : 1. is this correct what I said so far(or been told) 2. Do I have to renew my car insurance which expired last week even if I don't drive my car which is safely parked on my driveway(off road) ? Can I pay later lets say next month ? this is due my finance difficulties and I hope that other side pays by then and so I pay much less insurance. Professional advice would be great ! Thanks for reading :-)

Can anyone reccomend a cheap car insurance company?
My Husbands car insurance is due to run out the end of this month, however he is also waiting to see if someone puts a claim in against his insurance as he had a slight prang with another car, through no fault of his own. His insurance company have said that whie they wait to see if this claim is put through, the other person has 2 months, then they are going to charge him as if he has no noclaims bonus, this will be 120 a month. He just wants to find a company that will insure him for a couple of months that is cheaper than this till he sees if the claim goes through or not, if it doen's he will have 3 yeas no claims, hope this makes sense, thanks in advance x""

My Insurance auto accident settlement?
I was recently in a car accident where a Nissan truck ran into the back of another car that then ran into the back of me causing $2000 worth of damage to the rear of my infiniti. I received moderate whiplash to my neck and had to be taken to the hospital. I checked out without any broken bones and was prescribed medication. I went to see a chiropractor and he has been working on my neck for a couple days which makes it feel a better. Im 100% not at fault and the insurance company has taken care of my car repair, rental, and medical bills. They ask me How much do I think I want for this accident for pain and suffering. I believe I am entitled to at least $3500-5000 for my suffering I live in NC. I believe $5000 is a reasonable consider the circumstances. I could have lost my life, broke my neck and been paralyzed for life. Thank the lord that I received only a whiplash. The stress that I am undergoing, the constant pain in my neck is a reminder of the accident, which I feel fearful of driving. The time I spent recovering could have been spent enjoying my life. Besides getting behind in my school work, I am absent from my student organization at school which I am a key figure ( president AGC). I don't enjoy waking up with cramps and headaches nor do I like to take prescription pills, and therapy. I don't want to be compensation a insufficient amount that wont even cover pain and suffering I went though. It seems like you people are on the side of the insurance company and not the victims in this situation. I wonder if any of you have ever been in an automobile accident and if you have must share some sort of empathy of what I am reiterating.""

Insurance low balling me?
The top of a dead tree fell from neighbor's yard, onto my car. Speared the back window and ruined my back seat. Large dent on the roof. Random dents and scratches all over the car. My full coverage insurance company, USAA, declared the accident covered under comprehensive insurance. Deemed unrepairable. I purchased my car for $5k, near $6k after 2years of financing is paid off. This accident just happened after 4 months of payment on the car. I have $3k left to pay. 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe. KBB valued at: retail, $5.1k. private party, $3.3k. My insurance claim payout will be $2.6k. Which leaves me roughly $500 in the hole. I do not have gap insurance, and I wasn't even aware of gap insurance until this accident (at which point I came across that service while researching insurance info). It would cost me upwards of $5k easy to replace my Honda with a same or similar model from a car dealer. Is there any way to get more from my insurance claim? Car insurance coverage fraud!?
My boyfriend did something very stupid that I am worried about. He wanted to apply for a pizza delivery job at Domino's. The thing is he did not have car insurance, so he faked one on the computer, it looked completely valid, but when he was applying for the job the manager called the company to see if it was valid. My boyfriend heard that he was doing this, then he walked out before the company called him back to say he wasn't in their data base. So my question is, since he faked coverage with that company, and his name did not register in their data base, would the company report it to the police that he tried to fake coverage with that company since it was brought to their attention? I am worried for my Love, please shine some light on this. Thank you! He is just worried that the insurance company that he tried to fake coverage with would notify the police and/or the DMV and put it on his license.""

Car accident. My fault. And I have no insurance?
I was in a car accident recently. there was not really any damage to either vehicle, I rear ended someone. the police report was filed and the police told me that the person I rear ended wants to claim that she has had injury to her back (which is ridiculous because we were only going 5 mph).
