No matter who she impressed with her compositions, with her performances, and no matter what doors were opened for her as a consequence... it meant little, knowing that her parents - biological or adoptive - would never deign to see her play. What did praise mean, truly, when delivered by those from whom she did not seek it? Perhaps that was part of the art - the cold woman behind the keys offering up so much emotion that she herself could never express, barely seeming to care how her music was received - after all, why would she? ok i hope u are ready for a whirlwind folks !! she’s the niece of thailand’s prime minister , basically her dad’s brother is the pm ! her dad also is a v prevalent member of the thai government and because of it, sarai’s grown up in the lap of luxury !

always was content w her financial situation , neither wanted more financial gain or less ! she’s grown up alright with having things done for her so she does tend to be on the lazier side !

everything was good until around the start of high school ! there , she found out her family was involved in some shady businesses and had been using government money for their own needs ! it was incredibly shocking and hurtful for her to hear , and ever since then things haven’t been the same . she really resents her parents for fooling her and the other’s around her into thinking they had good intentions !

so , to combat their malice , she began putting more effort into charity and volunteer work , hoping her good deeds would balance them out .

however, the truth of the matter was sarai was far more interested in how good she looked for donating rather than the cause , and even liked the feeling of being at the top felt ? and beyond that, she’s made deals w charities to help publicize her as this really generous person ? so more than anything, her gratitude is for personal gain . 

but that’s not what she thinks, though ! she genuinely believes that these things make her better than her parents , and that she does it from the goodness of her heart . while part of her heart is in the right place , deep down the truth is she’s honestly just like them ?? 

a really big fight that broke out between her and her parents led her to get so upset that she literally left the country , leaving nothing but an angry letter and a vow to be on her own .

so now she’s in an ... interesting predicament. she really wants to be her own person , but she’s really dependent on her family and therefore is pretty incompetent . she says she gets along fine w / o their money , but still has a very materialistic mindset and can’t get by without their cash since she doesn’t have a job . so i’d honestly call her one big hypocrite ?? but what you gonna do !

in college you can find her playing volleyball and getting way too competitive , going to her teacher’s office hours nearly every day to talk her way into their good graces , and writing her heart out for the seongnam tribune !

that’s the other thing ! she really has a passion for writing , especially when it comes to articles and all that , but it simply was never in her cards ?? her parents want to follow in their family’s footsteps and either go into politics or economics , hence her major ! but really , if it was up to her sarai would just be living her best life as a journalist , with no care in the world !

on campus , i think she actually keeps a surprisingly low profile ? in thailand 

for now , i assume most ( but not necessarily all ! ) people would think of her as a good person , but it’s only a matter of time before people’s true intentions slip out , you know ?? i’m not saying she’ll so her true colors but .... 👀

brief introduction.

charlie’s mother was born and then spent all her life in ottawa, ontario, until she got pregant with charlie (original name is charlotte but charlie legally changed it as soon as she legally could after turning eighteen). isabelle, charlie’s mother, had a double citizenship (canada/usa) thanks to her mother (who she had a very complicated relationship with) being american, so when she basically ran away from home (although not really because she was twenty years old at the time), the move to the states was somewhat easy (or well, as easy as it could be).

charlie and her mother are very close!! kind of similar-ish to lorelai and rory in gilmore girls when it comes to closeness, except that they’re more like... soft, i guess? very intelligent and curious like the gilmore girls, sure, but not necessarily as quick-witted, humorous and energetic. well, isabelle sort of is a bit more so than charlie, but yes! basically, charlie and her mom are super close!

charlie’s mom (isabelle) made herself quite the stable home in blackthorne, and it’s been a home to her and charlie ever since they arrived (whilst charlie was still a fetus, of course)! nowadays, the two of them don’t live together anymore, but they see a lot of each other and get along rlly rlly well! i don’t want to set isabelle’s job in stone since i’ll probably make a wanted connection for her, but i’m picturing her doing something either really artsy or people-focused! or even both?

charlie has known she wanted to be a nurse since the age of thirteen. back in her pre-teens, isabelle and charlie’s elderly neighbour, mrs. cunningham, got quite sick and though charlie obvi didn’t do physical tasks to help out, just holding mrs. cunningham’s hands and being there for her felt right. charlie has always felt best when she's helping or caring for others, and that doesn’t seem close to change any time soon!

she was honestly a bit difficult to get along with when she was younger? bc as kind as she tended to be, she got angry VERY easily, especially when it came to other kids being careless and not paying attention to others. like, since childhood, there’s nothing that frustrates charlie more than people not taking others into consideration. also, um... when she gets mad, she gets MAD. she’s a fire sign (zodiac wise) and it really, REALLY shows lmao!!!!! she also tends to be quite dramatic and theatrical when it comes to her anger so idfjlkdjlkfdj it can lowkey be entertaining for those not involved in whatever is going on!

rn she’s living in a two bedroom apartment with two roommates! i picture charlie sharing a bedroom with one of her roommate (and can they PLEASE have bunk beds iM begging sjdljfdljfdlkfdj), and for the other roommate to have their own bedroom! i feel like both bedrooms would be REALLY small, but that actually all the other rooms would be quite roomy? and that it’d be a super well lit apartment? and like definitely not high class or anything, but DEFINITELY homey!

can be a bit reckless when it comes to her own safety, especially if others are in danger (she does have a bit of a hero complex), which is DEF not ideal right now lmao dflkjdlkfjlkdfj

loves partying btw!!!! she works rlly rlly hard as a nurse and is generally quite chill outside of work, but she feels the need to let loose, like really loose at least once every two weeks or more!

CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND: along with her mother, this is the person charlie trusts and cherishes the most. and also lbr she can be a TINY bit more of herself with her best friend than with her mother, bc no matter how much she loves her mother, she’s still her mother. and this best friend would actually probably get along with isabelle really well too! i didn’t necessarily picture charlie’s best friends as one of her roommates, but if you’d like to go for that too, i definitely wouldn’t be opposed! ( 00 / 01 )

ROOMMATES: as described a lil bit above, charlie shares a two-bedroom apartment with two other roommates! the rooms are all pretty spacey, except for the bedrooms which are on the small size! still, charlie shares one of the bedrooms with one of her roommates (probably with bunk beds!!!!!! the adult-y kind?? where the bottom bunk is like a bit bigger??), and the other roommate has a room of their own!! the apartment is also really well-lit, with a lot of well-placed window, and though it’s definitely not luxurious, it 100% has a very homey feel to it! COLLEAGUE(S): people who charlie works with! other nurses would definitely be interesting because they can unwind together and understand each other in a way that other people can’t? ooooh, although there could also maybe be a “rival” nurse to charlie for whatever reason we can work out together (bc charlie is caring af so maybe if your character is more ambitious and has a different way of dealing with patients - which is probably just as good as charlie’s but only different - so maybe they clash about that?) but also!!!!!! dOCTORS PLEASE!!!!!! knowing some people in health services, the way doctors act with nurses can vary quite intensely (from what i know which ofc is only a small sample tho so!!), but like....... mayhaps a doctor who really respects nurses and understands how they can have a unique point of view when it comes to what’s happening to the patients, and who tries to work with the nurses as a team!! therefore a doctor who charlie probably really admires and appreciates!!!! on the other hand, though...... a doctor who seems to think they’re above nurses (whether they really are or not is up to you, but it could be the impression that charlie is getting!) like maybe a doctor who doesn’t take kindly to being questioned, especially not by people who aren’t doctors and like...... lmao charlie doesn’t care!!!! she’ll question you!!!! (also lowkey..... this is FAR from necessary but i just stumbled upon a list of enemies to lovers novels and this seems like such a cliché plot but slfkjlxjfkljdf i wouldn’t be opposed to that if it works out with the chemistry and all of that? i’m not into planning long term romantic plots bc i feel like it hinders things and what not, but! it can be a possibility if you’d like that, maybe?) EX-FIANCÉ(E): charlie’s high school sweetheart!! they started dating when charlie was fifteen (and your chara was in the same year as charlie but ig depending on the time of year they might have been the same age or a few months older or younger sflkdfjlkjfd), and they got engaged when they were twenty-one years old! charlie’s mother actually didn’t really approve of the union, even though she loved your chara, as she thought they were too young, but back then, charlie didn’t care about what others said about she and your chara’s relationship! they were actually engaged for two years before they both realized that they kept on pushing off the wedding. and it wasn’t just because they were scared; they just weren’t sure they actually wanted it anymore. then, they decided to take a “break”. that was around three years ago, and the two have barely talked to each other since, avoiding each other’s stares when they walk by each other on the street, something that happens much too often to their taste. they both still have their rings, but i feel like they’re probably just holding on to them out of nostalgia, because it seems quite clear that their relationship is over. problem is, they were close friends before they started dating, and they honestly miss each other’s friendship. also!! i don’t have a gender preference for your chara tbh!! at the age of nine, charlie loudly announced that she liked girls after climbing on the tallest tree in the park during a special school outing (to the park a block away from their school..... ok it wasn’t that special of an outing, but most of the school was still there in the park!) and at the age of fourteen she officially came out as bisexual! I think....more than 8? My grandparents are 8 years apart so personally for me this is the largest age gap I know a couple to have. Obviously, that age gap being not uncomfortable is always dependent on the fact that both muses are of age. Shipping an underage character with an adult is just....no thnx.

Are you selective when shipping?

Yes and no. This is a trick answer. On the one hand I’m not and on the other hand I am? I get the ship feels very fast if our interaction/plotting sparks the Chemistry Feel, but also the Chemistry Feel is very specific and if I don’t feel it, I don’t feel it. IDK if that’s selectivity or just......normal shipping. 

And then there’s also the fact that in general if our muses have a canon relationship, odds are that I probably ship them and want to write shippy stuff. B u t the kicker with all of that is that I don’t like shipping with someone just based off a canon connection bc there is every possibility that I will figure out later on that our portrayals don’t mesh very well or that I don’t actually have the Chemistry Feel from between our muses during the interaction, and I like...I never want to ship for the sake of having the ship? So like.....always talk to me first. Some plotting or interaction would be Best before we decide if shipping can happen.

Yes. Please. Even if it’s a canon ship that you know explicitly I ship, honestly.  Please always ask. cass was born into a normal life in the quaint town of mystic, connecticut. her dad was a lawyer, and her mom was a high school teacher. on weekends her and her siblings ( a wc ! ) would go biking around the town. they lived an ordinary life.

in her childhood home, they had a mighty oak in their backyard -- in its branches was a treehouse. one day, as she was climbing down on the ladder, she missed a rung and fell. ‘shattered spine,’ the doctor said to his associate. ‘poor kid won’t walk again.’ he ate his words twenty minutes later, during a follow-up. 

when it came to their attention that their daughter was one of the many ... powered individuals, her parents immediately knew that they had to move to carson. being a high school teacher, mrs. castillo knew exactly how quickly she might become ostracized.

the family moved as soon as possible. it wasn’t difficult for cassandra to become adjusted. she wasn’t carson born, but she was carson bred. carson is her home. she doesn’t really see herself leaving. not unless she has to. 

in terms of personality, cass can be extremely self-centred and the only other people she cares about are the people she’s close with. she kind of vain, and enjoys the limelight. despite that, she’s not sold on the whole hero schtick. cass doesn’t want to give up her life for some shitty part time job with no benefits other than self gratification

cassandra is reckless. since she knows she can’t get seriously injured, she deadass doesn’t give a shit about her physical being. in high school, when she was on the cheer team, she was notorious for risking the most dangerous stunts. she was a nightmare and was top priority for waivers and permission forms.

something that cassandra has never mentioned about her powers? even though she never retains the damage, she feels it. her body is plagued with phantom aches and she’s constantly in a mood because of the horrifying migraines she experiences in thanks to the dozens of concussions she’s should’ve had.

FRANKLIN WAN !

frankie was born in chicago, a hub of life. he’s a big city boy. he loves the hustle and bustle of the city. he likes being able to get pho on a thursday night and finding a mcdonalds when he turns a corner.

he’s a family boy -- everything he does is for his family. growing up, it was just him and his mom. his mother was a kindhearted woman who did her best raising him. she had no choice, though. his father was a kind man who was far too fucking trusting. he stepped into a fight with two people people with powers. he got killed because of it.

frankie’s never gotten over that prejudice inside of him. he hates people with powers. which makes his current employment an interesting predicament to find himself in.

the contrast between chicago and carson makes his head spin. there’s so little to do in maine. still, when he can ignore the presence of the powered people, he can almost think of carson as... calming. 

as one might’ve noticed, he is a very quiet person. usually, he’s very level headed and calm. he prefers to be left to his own devices.

frankie doesn’t really have a temper, but he is extremely unforgiving. he holds grudges like there’s no tomorrow. he leaves his anger to simmer, but will never speak it outloud.

the bottom line is that frankie hates people with powers. he blames them for his dad’s death and he’ll always childishly cling to that hatred.

i'm honored that u consider me a good reference to ask writing tips from 🙈 tbh i have a love/hate relationship w my writing lmao but maybe it's human nature to not be completely content w ur own writing?

in terms of the short/simple writing style, my tips are much more personal and kinda unique to my own strengths and limitations. u see, my weaknesses in writing are plot-heavy storylines and imagery/scene setting/descriptions (to name a few). bec of these, i tend to write more dialogue and settle for shorter scenes so my tips would probably be those. also, it can't hurt to start with a short one-liner or two-liner as an intro ;)

also i tend to keep my paragraphs short. like even though the sentences could fit in 1 paragraph, i tend to separate them in order to add dramatic effect. an example would be:

The metal doorknob is cold to touch but it doesn't deter you from twisting your hand to open the wooden door.

It doesn't budge.

instead of

The metal doorknob is cold to touch but it doesn't deter you from twisting your hand to open the wooden door, only to find that it doesn't budge.

i’ve had so many characters it’s hard to even remember them BUT I SHALL TRY.

cait scott, a character from a wip of mine who won a contest to appear on a teen television show and was catapulted to fame (i’ve toyed with revamping her and bringing her here also yes her name was a play on ‘great scott!’)

madison caverly, my very very first rp muse. i made her on an oc blog in 2013 and she was my first foray into the rp world. she’s got a few flaws but i have an immense soft spot for her and i brought her over to indie with me.

nadia johnson, my character that i made for my very first d&d campaign. i quickly fell in love with her and even though we’re not playing that campaign rn, i brought her to indie and she’s one of my favorite characters i’ve made for anything. she’s so resilient and brave and has so many layers i have to explore.

owen wheeler, one of my first characters i made on this blog. i had no idea what to do with him until @warmhcney suggested this plot idea and suddenly, owen sprang to life. he’s now a real person in my head and i can never go back. my life has been changed by him, as weird as it is to say. thank you, del, for suggesting owen and molly, because without them i wouldn’t have owen as he is today.

silas trask, another one of my early muses for this. i honestly don’t know where the idea for him came from, really. but he’s honestly a person of his own and a lil shit. every time i write a reply for him the words fly off my fingers, his sassy retorts taking shape on their own. he makes me laugh every time, and i love him so much.

max wheeler, my lost boy. i made him for a group rp and then i realized… dude. what if he’s owen’s younger brother? the rest is history. max is constantly searching, constantly hurting, constantly falling apart. and god, he just needs to be loved. this is just my daily reminder how much max needs love and it’s also an excuse for me to cry about him, thank u.

so after a while, seulie switched into fashion marketing and she loves it

her parents were p disappointed for a while bc of the switch in major and there was an evident strain on their relationship ( between her and her mom, at least ) but by now they’ve come around and she’s so thankful for that tbh ??
