I keep seeing all this stuff in Metroid fandom (and arguably from the creative team themselves) about Samus having a motherly bond with (voice) The Baby but, like, she handed that thing over to be dissected by military scientists SO fast. I could see her being surprised that it had formed such an attachment with her by the end of Super Metroid cuz yeah that was unexpected and weird. But chances are high she saved that last bby metroid with the intent of it being used for study and destroyed in the process.
It is funny imagining her going on parent/child bonding trips with the galaxy's second most dangerous life form though.

I’ve finished the third Fëanorian Week drawing. Only four more to go.... In the meantime, here’s another Star Trek post for you because 1. it’s April Fool’s Day which makes me want to post something funny, and 2. I just recently finished the third TOS season and am in denial about having run out of new episodes. But now it’s on to the movies!
I’m sure this joke has been made before, but I can’t believe this was literally a plot point in an episode.
Transcription:
[Garth as Kirk:] “Shoot him, he’s the clone!”
[Spock:] “The real Kirk would never pass up an opportunity to die!”

Hands of hips looking down shaking my head I don't know how to sugarcoat this so I won't but signs is so much better than nope. I don't know how people even say the movie aged bad. I think the feelings they have for the director cloud their view (I don't even know how either of his names). You got a 1:30hs movie vs a 2hs movie (I'm cutting the 10 minutes of credit for both) where in one you are never bored and are gripped by emotions and the other where you sit waiting for anything to happen. Like I'm sorry but there's no fight here. Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby.

lex luthor is a great villain in that his genocidal levels of xenophobia genuinely make me so mad. its perfectly realistic like yeah, this is EXACTLY what a shitty white capitalist would do. clark kent is a better man than me because i want this guy dead <3

I’m so sorry but I think that the funniest thing they did in Top Gun Maverick was the fact that to try to beat the “Top Gun is really fucking gay” allegations they paired Mav up with a different woman this time but in doing so accidentally validated an entirely new gay ship. It’s like. Hey. Lean in real close. Hey. Mav’s got a new girlfriend this time and they’re exes with a fraught past but over the course of the movie make up and get back together, isn’t that so romantic? And then five feet away from all that shit Rooster and Hangman are just straight up saying they have an history with each other and they hold an intense rivalry before they eventually get over their differences and become friends and all the while Rooster is telling Hangman he looks good for the fiftieth fucking time that day and they keep playing romantic songs to piss each other off. The most hilarious thing is that the writers constantly use Maverick’s romances from both movies and basically parallel the only straight relationships with Rooster and Hangman’s relationship, and it’s like? Is this intentional? Is there something you want to tell us?? Because those two have STRONG hostile ex boyfriend energy if i’ve ever seen it, and if the writers want to convince me they’re straight they have another thing coming. If parallels with the only romance on screen then why no canon ex boyfriends. If parallels with both couples from both movies then why no gay. Hmm. Riddle me that Tom Cruise

my favorite environmental detail in TRON 2.0 - maybe all of TRON - has nothing to do with the plot and has no meaning in and of itself. in the internet level, if you watch the sky, you can see small glimmers of lightning arcing through the sky, following the circuitry of the sky itself.
it's just one of the most simple and effective atmospheric details. we have lightning in TRON legacy, but it's not really different from lightning here in the real world. and TRON (1982) was already struggling to animate what it could; there's a few clouds in the sky as you enter and leave the computer, but once you're down there, there isn't really anything in the sky.
it's stuff like this that makes TRON 2.0 my favorite TRON tbh. it's so much more alien than the grid was... it really captures the otherworldliness of the original movie.
