One thing I truly adore about Palia is the polyamory and general queerness. It's so nice that we can romance everyone so we don't miss any plots or items, but also its nice as a poly-queer person to see some representation in a game.
There is no jealousy. There is no hateful or painful breakups (as I understand it, if you break-up it is not mentioned and you restart the romance plot-line). No one makes negative comments about two pins or switching out pins.
It's so nice to see positive rep in a game and honestly such a breath of fresh air.

people who misgender g3 Frankie while “critiquing” g3 designs and then ignore everyone correcting you in your comments, I’m swinging at you with my sword.
A popular media franchise makes a they/them-using nonbinary protag and it’s actually canon and they still can’t get any respect.

rant about gay chars(travis phelps) and fem writers
Tumblr media
me watching ppl write travis with a female reader, knowing he's a canonically gay character.
chat that's erasing rep, not saying it's as bad as whitewashing but it's essentially the same thing
females HE'S NOT FOR YOU!!! if you like him romantically just write drafts of him n you? make fanart?
and if u dk how to write male x male, then js don't write travis? it's like cis ppl trying to write trans chars and honestly js making rep worse
but, again, my bias of being a trans mlm aside, i can't stop you. it's just, i hate watching fem ppl erase canon gay rep js bc they find the char attractive.
and yes, ik it's not actually "erasing rep", as it's still canon. it's just very frustrating and id appreciate if writers just left gay chars with their gayness
AGAIN, i CANNOT stop you from writing male(gay char) x female, this is just a rant/vent.

I’m reading Witch King by Martha Wells, and now that I have read more than one (1) series by this author, I have been suddenly brained with a two-by-four sharpied over with “realizing that I really enjoy novels by Martha Wells because they live in the specific niche created by the intersection of casually and thoroughly queer casts and non-romance storylines”
I am as ever a sucker for non-human main characters struggling with their very human feelings, which is why I jumped on Witch King the moment I saw “the author of Murderbot wrote another book with a main character that’s non-human,” but I live in this dichotomy where I can really enjoy reading queer romances but I don’t really identify with non-ace characters (which is not actually something I figured out how to differentiate until I was Last Week Years Old). so there are lots of books out there that I enjoy reading but it’s comparatively rare for me to read something that feels like it was written For Me and Martha Wells does that very well
anyway, give me more ace it-pronouns human-spliced robot main characters and people-eating demons who consider rank over gender when finding new bodies to inhabit

controversial opinion,
but I think Miquella and St Trina should have been the same person, and never separate. It felt like they were trying really hard to make Miquella be just like Marika, with the parallel person being Radagon for Marika, and Miquella to St Trina, when they should have remained the same person and not separate beings. It just felt too much like a forced 'look! Miquella is just like his mother-- see? he's got a different person inside, too!'.
It felt more special to me, to have St Trina be a different persona that Miquella used for the sake of helping people without it being linked to him, like Katara in Avatar the Last Airbender when she was using the Painted Lady disguise.
also in the description for some st trina items (pre dlc-- I don't consider the dlc canon) they mention how people debate on whether or not St trina is a male or a female so it felt more mysterious, like Miquella was using a disguise. I just thought it made him different, I don't think Miquella would enjoy being compared or made to seem just like his mother considering he doesn't even mention her at all, or have much connection to Marika.

tumblr user challenge! in front of you is a nonbinary character. all you have to do is not assume they are either (1) an effeminate gay man or (2) automatically afab. if you cannot do this it will affect the trout population btw

clover spotted!!!
also i just have to say it: i really liked cabby and bot as a duo in this episode - they play off each other well and make for some interesting character moments - so it's a real gosh darn shame that they eliminated bot!!! like seriously you're gonna give me one relationship that i actually enjoy and then you break it in half??? thanks a lot animationepic :'DD

God the urge to transition and become a big burly dude and be the best dad ever and have an awesome beard and a deep voice. The urge to be wonderfully androgynous while doing it (keeping my chest and having v4gin4 preserving phalloplasty) but also masculine at the same time. Having a big long beard and wearing a crop top and a pretty flowy skirt. Being the softest older man ever. It makes me want to live. The thought of becoming an older trans guy. The one who the young trans boys come to for advice and a safe haven. The thought of being a DAD. The thought of being someones Zayde some day..... Idk if my feeling of gender and presentation will stay the same, because they seem like such a far away fantasy, but i hope i can be as happy as the man in my imagination is 🥹

I suppose this counts as a kinfession. I just wanted to state how sometimes it gets really frustrating to see sentients who are kin with a not binary character that uses they/them (see Kris from Deltarune) and them then using he/him. I get that it is their own memories and literally them, but I suppose after a while it feels like some sort of erasure to me? I hope that makes sense, and if anybody could explain more to make me more comfortable with this specific thing, that would be lovely as well. I always want to keep an open mind.
🏎️‼️
#🏎️ — KINFESSION !#kinfession#kin blog#kin help#fictionkin#This is a fascinating concept that obviously doesn't have a straight answer.#It's purely subjective. But in my opinion. We have to first establish that who you were in source and in your memories is secondary to who#you are now.#So obviously. Your identity your change. The pronouns you go by can change.#And as a third person you are by all means allowed to feel squicked out by seeing that. I can't say I don't get squicked out when certain#cultural aspects of a character are disregarded by the people that are kin with them.#But if we were to police any of that. Then kinning would be immensely complicated and exclusionary in ways that do more harm than good.#We also cannot possibly assume someone's feelings towards their current or past gender identity. What if this hypothetical individual you'r#talking about *does* go by they/them but are still processing that part of their identity? What if they're nonbinary but choose to go by#he/him? We don't know!#We can't possibly know. And to make assumptions about people that are that complicated is too risky for me to be comfortable with.#I get where you're coming from. But I don't think it's something that 1) should ever be brought up to someone that is just trying to live#their life and 2) should ever come before the respect one has towards a person and their identity.#All in all. It's a fascinating subject I'm all for discussing. But not before stating that I consider the feelings of real people to be mor#important than the 'representation' a fictional character stands for.#Both because real people are people and not representation of anything. And because if you DID start going down this mental rabbithole I#think you would just drive yourself bonkers for no good reason.#I know I would.
