I was allowed to do a presentation on Ranboo for school, so now I share it with the world. And @yailea cuz I was asked to :3

(I’m going to be writing what I plan to say during the presentation :3)

Let’s begin!

Hello! Today I will be talking about Ranboo

Ranboo is an 18 year old American YouTuber and Twitch streamer, but he is more focused on Twitch and hasn’t uploaded onto YouTube for awhile.

Recently he has become a member of the e-sports company, Misfits Gaming. And whilst he has so far only done one big event with Misfits Gaming, more has been promised for the future.

Ranboo is currently ranked in the top 20 most subscribed Twitch accounts, coming in at number 13. At one point he was even ranked number 1.

Ranboo started streaming on the 12th of September, 2020, creating a TikTok account alongside it. After getting raided by Punz, a member of the Dream SMP and a larger streamer at the time, his subscriber count quickly grew.

On the 27th of November, 2020, a little over two months after he started streaming, he was invited to the Dream SMP, a Minecraft server with a lot of popular YouTubers and streamers, like Dream, Tommyinnit, Technoblade, and several others, live on stream. This posted his following even more.

During his first subathon, which is a long stream for people to gift subs for a goal, this streams goal being for the Trevor Project, Ranboo broke the Twitch record for most subscribers in a stream in 30 minutes. He also became the most subscribed to person.

Ranboo is very active with charity work, having donated several hundred of thousands of dollars, but he has had two big subathons for charity.

His first subathon was in February, 2020, where he streamed for over 24 hours and earned over 100K to donate to The Trevor Project, an amazing organization which helps LGBTQIA+ youths.

In August of 2021 Ranboo streamed for 16 hours for Charity: Water, an organization helping give clean, drinkable water to developing countries, where he managed to earn over 300K to donate.

Where I was unable to watch the first subathon, I did actually watch the second one from start to finish without sleeping. It was a wild ride, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Now, some interesting facts about Ranboo!

In his early days Ranboo would stream every day without fail, he only stopped streaming to fly to the UK to stay there with his friend Tubbo for 4 months. Here he also took a break from streaming for a while here as well.

He has a dog named Frisbee, named so because he drank water from a frisbee.

He did own a pet snake once, but it escaped and was never found again.

Ranboo is currently working on a horror series called Generation Loss. He has planned to record it using vintage equipment from the 80s and 90s, to give it a true old timey feel.

At this moment he is currently living in the UK, but he will be going back to the US for a bit soon.

Now why did I decide on Ranboo?

First of all I enjoy his content. He has even made me watch horror games, which I actively deeply dislike, because he makes it all very enjoyable for me to watch.

Secondly he’s just done so many amazing things, like all of his charity work - where he’s even donated loads his own money as well - and been a representation for people with facial dysmorphia, something he himself is dealing with, has been nice.

I have been actively watched Ranboo for several months, even before I got my sub - which has now been going for 7 months - and he has honestly changed quite a lot of my life. His constant reassurances that everyone is okay as they are, and that a few flaws doesn’t make you any worse of a person. And him being open about himself and what he’s going through has reassured me that it’s okay to have these issues and that it doesn’t make you anything less.

I always go back to his streams and videos because I found him soothing and listening to him play a game or just rambling helps calm me and focus on something other than my panic. And as a member of the LGTBIA+, I’m the bi with an ace up her sleeve ;3, his open and continued support of the community is a large bonus.

So mcyt means minecraft youtube, but usually also includes Twitch streamers. It's like a in general thing, and not pointing to anything specific

But since you sound so confused, I'm gonna explain to you the Dream SMP lore 'cause why not

TL;DR: Chaos and war, basically also like a hamilton, heathers, and les mis crossover (but i mean if you want to understand everything you should read.)

Note: Everyone on the smp has three canon lives, and when you loose all three you're canonically dead (except philza minecraft. he has one canon life bc hes known as the hardcore guy bc he had a minecraft hardcore series for 6 years until he was killed by a spider while trying to fight a baby zombie lmaoooooo)

IMPORTANT: THIS IS ALL RP. IRL THEY’RE ALL FRIENDS. THERES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PLAYER AND THE CHARACTER. THE RELATIONSHIPS AREN’T ACTUALLY TOGETHER IRL. ITS ALL THEIR CHARACTERS THAT THEY MADE UP. (obviously the best friends stuff are irl)

In the beginning there were 8: The Dream Team (Dream, Georgenotfound [the guy in my pfp btw :)] , Sapnap), Badboyhalo, Awesamdude, Ponk, Callahan, and Alyssa. Around this time, nothing much happened since it was all brand new, uhh yeah (this was around may-july of this year)

Then around late july new members joined: Tommyinnit, Tubbo, Wilbur Soot, Eret, Skeppy, Fundy, Punz, Purpled, and Schlatt. This part is very important to the lore, because the lore kinda started off with the british (so tommy, tubbo, wilbur, eret) Schlatt was banned, cause Sapnap was the one who invited him and Dream didn't know who he was. He'll come up later.

So Wilbur and Tommy decided to create a new nation called "L'Manberg". Also around this time (i think) Nihachu and Jack Manifold joined. They also were part of L'Manberg. There was this huge revolution between Dream Smp and L'Manberg. Very historical period on this smp. In the end, (i think it was?) L'Manberg who won (if memory serves).

After that, L'Manberg had started growing bigger, with a lot more buildings added and stuff, notably Church Prime, which where they created a religion for Twitch Prime, which is how you can sub to your favorite twitch streamer for free if you link your amazon prime account. I'm pretty sure around this time, Quackity, Karl Jacobs (if you watch Mr. Beast; yes, that karl jacobs), HBomb, Technoblade, and Antfrost joined. And then the railway war started. It happened when Tommy accidentally ran over Dream with a Minecart and then took his stuff. This is how the disc war started (once again, if memory serves). The two discs Tommy owns are his prized possesions, and Dream took them. Also around this time the Pet War started, with Sapnap killing someones(i forgot oops) pet. And then more pet killing. Annnnd then even more.

Then there was the L'Manberg eletion. There was POG2020, who was Wilbur and Tommy, SWAG2020, Quackity and George, Coconut2020, Fundy and Nihachu, and Schlatt2020 which was Schlatt. Oh yeah and he got unbanned btw

SWAG2020 and Schlatt2020 decided to combine their votes, thus Shclatt became president and Quackity his vp. Oh and ever since the election Quackity has this grudge against George bc he slept through the election. Schlatt renamed L'Manberg to Manberg, and exiled Tommy and Wilbur from it.

Schlatt is a evil dictator who likes power. He and Quackity started fighting, and so Quackity became part of Tommy and Wilbur's side. Around this time was The Battle of the Lake and The Burning Eiffel Tower, both part of the pet war. (It seems like a innocent war but its actually brutal lmao) Also (irl) Mr. Beast had a $10,000 Taco Bell gift card hunt. Eret won. It was at the cords 6969,420, because haha funny number haha weed number. This has nothing to do with the lore but yeah. Eret also became King of the SMP

Then there was the Manberg festival. It was to celebrate democracy, but Tubbo puts it as "i decorated my own execution" bc he helped decorate it, but he was murdered there. At the festival was the Manberg Massicare, where Technoblade was forced to shoot tubbo, but he released a firework rocket kiling Tubbo, Schlatt, Quackity, and a few others. Many people lost one of their canon lives. Wilbur went all J.D like and planted 11 stacks of TNT underneath Manberg, and wanted to blow it up.

Pogtopia was formed, which is a ravine which i think is underneath? manberg? Which included basically everybody who wasn't neutral or with schlatt. On November 16 was the Manberg VS Pogtopia war, but the Badlands were also there. The Badlands is a nation of four people: Bbh, Skeppy, Awesamdude, and Antfrost. They faught with the loosing side, so the chaos could continue. Eret disobeyed Dream and got stripped of his royalty, and gave it to George. Oh and during this time, George had no idea there was a war and was building a cottagecore mushroom house with callahan and was very confused with all the death messages in the chat. Schlatt died canonically of a heart attack or stroke (no one knows tbh). Tommy became president, passed it to wilbur bc he still has unfinished buissness with dream (the discs), and wilbur passed it to Tubbo, who made Tommy his vp. Technoblade then argued about how government is bad, and they're just repeating history. Philza Minecraft joined the server, but no one could find him, until Wilbur blew up L'Manberg (they rechanged the name also). Wilbur then made Philza kill him, so Wilbur also became canonically dead. Then Techno, still mad at L'Manberg and governments, summoned two withers and made it attack the others. The Geogre decided to check out what was happening and helped fight. After the chaos, Captain Puffy and ConnorEatsPants joined the smp. About one to two weeks later Vikkstar and LazarBeam joined, then about three months after that Ranboo joined.

They rebuilt L'Manberg on stilts, and there water where the explosion was, but now with coral and stuff to make it all pretty. Tommy and Ranboo decided to go steal from Georges mushroom house, but then also griefed it and burnt it, and Dream, being a George simp, built obsidian walls around L'Manberg. They took Tommy to court, and was put on probation. Then Tommy got exiled (again) but this time by his own best friend. This made Quackity vp and Fundy secutary of state. Dream also took Georges king thing and gave it back to Eret because Eret has a good relationship with everybody, whereas George being King just caused chaos cause hes close to Dream. Quackity and Karl made Mexican L'Manberg, and George and Sapnap joined in also. War against Dream SMP, it was a negotiation and it got renamed into El Rapids (reference to Chilling in Cedar Rapids, which Hilary Clinton once said, and Quackity referenced it, got it trending #1 one twitter (well i mean dsmp gets things trending like everyday but), and got DONALD TRUMP TO SUBTWEET HIM. (This happened irl)

In his exile, Ghostbur (wilbur as ghost) and Tommy made Logstedshire, and Dream was often there to watch him. Dream then blew it up, and now Tommy is living with Techno in his arctic place. Currently, Quackity made a thing called The Butcher Army, so they could execute Techno. Tubbo, Quackity, Fundy, and I also think Ranboo? are trying to get another festival, and yes its a secret execution plan, but for them to kill Dream, who they realized is who they need to kill first. The disc war is still not over. Tommy has one of his discs, but Skeppy is in possesion of the other one.

Unluckily for Tommy (reguarding the discs), something happened in the Badlands. Bbh was digging out his underground statue room (he plans to make a statue of everyone of the server) and found this crimson egg. He, Antfrost, and Captain Puffy kinda got possesed. Also since Skeppy didn't really hang out on the server at night, but bbh does (OF FUCK I FORGOT TO MENTION HE AND BBH ARE BEST FRIENDS) Captain Puffy created Discount Skeppy, which is her in a Skeppy skin. Skeppy found out, had a little conflict with her during her stream, but it was resolved, and at one point in the stream, he asked bbh to choose between him and the egg, and when bbh didn't answer, he went to the egg, put himself inside it, and logged off. Couple days later, bbh and puffy got him out, hes now possed by the crimson, called Technoblade his "best friend" infront of bbh, and is now living in a grass hut. Bad is convinced theres still some skeppt left, but yeah. Skeppy also wanted to burn the disc.

End of lore for now, bc its like if you miss ONE STREAM YOU MISS LIKE A REALLY IMPORTANT EVENT AND ITS STRESSFUL

Not much part of lore but Nihachu and Captain Puffy once went on a date. They’re both bi irl and Puffy was on Nihachu’s Love or Host (twitch dating show. its really entertaining) Captain Puffy was a contestant, and chose love. (LoH is also how Nihachu and Wilbur met.)

Funfact: Theres 5 irl lgbtq+ ppl on the server (people who came out, anyways cause you never know, ya know?) Antfrost is gay, Eret, Nihachu, Captain Puffy are all bi, and Karl Jacobs is ace spec

Family stuff: Philza Minecraft (he'll come up later) had two twins with a Samsung Smart Refrigerator in the 70's. The two twins being Wilbur and Technoblade (he'll come up later also) and also had another son, Tommy. They also adopted Tubbo, who they found in a box on the side of the road. When he grew up, Wilbur met Sally the Salmon, and they had a fox together (dont ask just go with it), which was Fundy. (The character) Fundy is trans, and yeah . Bbh is a dad to sapnap and yeah

Oh and a new member is coming on today on Quackity’s stream (twitch.tv/quackityhq at 5pm CST if you want to watch)

Wilbur Soot is also a musician! He wrote I’m In Love With an Egirl, The Internet Ruined Me, and Your New Boyfriend. (did you know the last one beat taylor swift for #1 trending on youtube? idk why but im really proud of him for that) They’re all catJam’s. Go listen!

Story Time

There is this Zelda Speedrunner that I like to watch on Twitch (gymnast86). One day he jokingly said he'd do a shirtless Skyward Sword speedrun if someone donated 500000 bits (aka 5000 dollars). I have not seen this but heard this from others in his chat.

Later on a twitch user named orangeplasticcup or just cup for short, started donating a lot of bits during a stream. People in chat brought up the old 500k bits for shirtless stream thing. Cup accepted this challenge and a shirtless stream happened.

This shirtless stream was very awkward (at least chat was, streamer was smart enough to ignore chat and just explain the entire speedrun). By that point Cup was a legend. We also have a cup emote because of him.

And then Cup moved on. To other streamers and gifted many subs and bits. More cup emotes came into existence and I didn't see him in gymnast's chat anymore.

A few days ago, twitch decided to recommend Cup's own stream to me. My first reaction was: wth i didn't know this guy was a streamer hinself

Then I decided to watch and Cup turned out to actually be a cute looking dude. Like I know there was a human behind this of course, yet my mental image was really just an orange plastic cup.

And I am mostly just confused. Cause I was not a big fan of Cup's shenanigans: dropping insane amounts of cash for attention and then just moving on to do the same thing in other streams. And gymnast's community is about as safe and friendly and wholesome as you can find on the hellhole of twitch but during the shirtless stream there were a lot of people being weird and horny and I really disliked that.

So I didn't really like him and now I have watched a little bit of his stream and he's cute and seems nice and confusion.

Also I don't really have a point I just wanted to share this cause it's been on my mind a while. Tho I am probably just yelling into the void with this post XD

I'm sorry I know I ask a lot but I'M JUST VERY INVESTED IN YOUR WRITINGS OKAY I love you *cue Lady Gaga's paparazzi*

Ihad like 80% of the answer done, but then I accidentally closed out of the browser,so then I gave up for the night and just wrote more on a different story, buttoday, we try again!

Oh, long post ahead!!

Eboy// Twitch Streamer

Okayso borrowing from the aesthetic of an Eboy, or “soft boy” mixed with egirlculture but ignoring a lot of that gross subculture (fun fact these things meantwo different things but I’m using them as one because I’m lazy.

BasicallyJohn is an accidental eboy, Roger has a pretty decent sized following, but oneday he invited John to be in one of his videos, and then John got a lot of peoplefollowing him because of it. And while he’s not super thrilled about it, fansdo tend to donate to his koi-foi or paypal or whichever so he can’t exactlycomplain when all he has to do is make a video about something and make himselflook “soft.” Freddie helps them both with it, but their videos do talk aboutscience things or cars or music.

Thenthere’s Brian, who gained a following on Twitch, because he was bored one dayand decided to play Animal Crossing. Because of the game and his voice, itpicks up popularity as a very relaxing stream to watch. Brian will just rambleabout anything from his classes to his music to deep questions, occasionallybreaking it up by shouting about something happening in game. He like overshares, but not about his personal life.

Johnfinds the channel one night when he’s going through a very high anxiety phase,and starts at Day 1, and by the time he’s caught up it’s already late afternoonand may have developed an accidental crush on the streamer. He thinks it’ll goaway because it was an exposure crush.

Spoiler,it doesn’t really.

Brianis also a lowkey fan of Roger and John’s channel, because he likes learningabout the things they talk about + and they’re both very cute (even if hispreference is the brunette with the beautiful smile), so win-win.

Theymeet when they’re both (John and Brian) invited to be parts of different panelsat a con.

Therest is as they say, history, or a massive amount of pining, long distancerelationships, drama, at least one break up, and Freddie being a saint forputting up with this.

Planedelay

Basedon the time that I was stuck on a tarmac for two hours because it was anopen-exit and there was lightning within 15 miles but it happened to be Floridaso there’s always lightning and they only checked every 15 minutes.

Brian’sbeen away trying to get big name donations for his charity, as well as doing a lecturetour on campuses. It’s been fun, and exciting to not just be Brian May, Queen’sGuitarist, but two months in the states (alone) is more than he can really beexpected to enjoy. He is so very ready to get home and not leave his house (ormore specifically his bed) for the next week reconnecting with his boys.Calling had simply not been enough. So here comes the big day of him gettingback to the UK.

Firsthis plane gets delayed for almost a full twelve hours due to mechanical issues.So now he has to mope around the air port for over fifteen hours (and that’sbeing optimistic that the plane won’t be delayed further).

Aftera quick call to his boys about the delay (to which Freddie whined about andRoger got irritated about and John just said they’d make sure a car would gethim), Brian sits by his gate and pouts.

Hedoes end up writing some very sappy love songs as presents and managing tocatch a few hours of sleep.

Anywaythe plane is only eighteen hours late by the time it fully touches down. Therest of the flight is pretty uneventful, sans Brian’s mind drifting to what he’sgoing to do when he sees his boys when he finally gets to their house (air portreunions aren’t exactly possible now with the fame they’ve accrued over the years)

Butwhen they touch the tarmac there’s a problem with the ramp. Mechanical failureof some kind, so he’s stuck again for a few hours while they move one toreplace it. Brian is literally so exhausted that by the time he grabs his bagsall he can imagine is sleep.

Frianfight

Oneof the first (and I think only?) Frian things I’ve written was about themgetting into a fight during Hot Space and Brian basically ending it, this is thefollow up to that

Post‘91 Dom/Sub

Soafter Freddie dies and John grows distant with the Roger and Brian beforeultimately leaving the relationship, Brian and Roger hadn’t gotten into thatusual type of scene. They had sex, sure, and sometimes it was kinky, but itwasn’t any of the dynamic that they had before. When Brian finally gets upsetenough to ask for it (part of his brain is telling him that Roger doesn’t wanthim anymore etc), Roger has to figure out to do what John did.

MainlyI fell in love with the world (Sammy falling in love with world building, tellme it isn’t so) but hopefully the plot is super interesting

So,summarizing the ask text:

1)it’s possibly going to be a fem!queen au (I haven’t actually figured that outyet because I had such a weird relationship with those types of AUs)

2)John, Roger, and Freddie (for the sake of organization we’re using their realnames) are a coven

3)Brian has been dealing with spirits and visions since he was little, but hedidn’t know that he was a witch

Butthe spirits take a heavy mental toll on Brian: depression, anxiety, andinsomnia. When he meets the other three things surprisingly get a little better.

Briandevelops a crush on all of them, proceeds to panic and not tell them about it,and suffers in silence (so the unusual).

Nowthe plot revolves around Queen being a particularly powerful coven (each havingrare Gifts) and other witches in the world not exactly happy about that. One inparticular (a combination of a lover scorned and someone who has always wantedpower) decides that she’s going to stop them from having the power they possess.Her target? Brian, who has no idea that he’s a witch, much less come into hispowers. So basically this witch keeps getting more and more aggressive with herattempts. At first it was trying to distance him from the others (which Johndragged him back handily talking about how stupid Brian is, and that of coursethey want him around), her next step was to distract him from finding out his heritage,then to try and turn him against theothers (now she’s using magic for this) but Freddie manages to counter thespell, and finally she moves on to straight up trying to murder him.

Andthe spell she uses? It might very well succeed.

Reincarnation

Iwrote this as a prompt a long time ago, where if you look into the eyes of yoursoulmate, you remember your previous life with Maylor I ended up writing, orstarting to write John’s reintroduction

So as you know I did a mini twitch rant a while ago but I have a new rant that I want to talk about everything and add more detail and I want to get this off my chest.

And this rant won't be petty like me ranting about Twitch name changes or Streamers using silly AFK screen because that is petty and sad...Real sad.

But before I do start. THIS IS A RANT, I will talk about that later. Remember this as this will be relevant, later in the post.

Let's go back to a time where streamers were nice and they wanted to be your friends or the least try to support you and be there.

2013 was a good year to meet streamers and a good year to be a streamer, cause this was a time where people was there to help you out more or less while at the same time, streamers were just trying to find their place on twitch.

I joined twitch in 2013 and it was a good time for me to join the Twitch scene but It was cause of hyper, when I found out he had a twitch, I joined and it was a good time after I started to find my place here but at the time I was SonikGameMaster

And I met a shit ton of Twitch.tv streamers who were small and friendly and most of them were fun and just starting out, I met people I am glad I met and people I regret meeting

Granted, I have met most under the account "SonikGameMaster" which I then later made a new account named "Sonikmage" And met the rest of the streamers, for better or worse.

2 Let's fall down the hole

So, streamers are still being helpful and going to smaller channels to support them and watching them cause as you know. Watching a streamer, chatting, tweeting out their stream page helps out more than you know.

And every bit of help for small streamers is always nice, you make them feel like when they stream, it's not a wasted effort and every small streamer loves to know that their time is not in vain when it comes to streaming.

And this is 2014 where Twitch gave everyone, the host option that can let a caster or viewer, host their streamer of choice, which is an another way to support the streamers you watch.

The idea for hosting was for casters or viewers to host their favorite streamer and join and chat with your favorite streamer while with your friends, This worked for a while then later this Idea was ruined.

Instead of watching the streamer you wanted to support, People would come host but leave after the host. Yeah, 20 + viewers are nice and all but more than likely, they will leave, which at that point feels like an insult in itself.

You host someone after a stream

But can't bother to stay more than 1 or 2 mins

And you feel hosting is nice, Hosting has value, just not much to it to be honest.

To add salt to the wound, your followers/viewers will leave right after, which makes your Host, A waste of time, which would make someone wonder, why even host in the first place.

3 Small streamers get bigger

To help out smaller streamers, You can watch their stream, you can share their stream, you can host them and stay and chat with them, you can chat with them, give them shoutouts from time to time, you can raid them with viewers, hanging out with them as they stream helps in a way.

You can even make them things, or offer to take time out your day to make them channel layouts or overlays, you can buy them things which are up to you but it can help. Just remember this, as it will come up later.

As the small streamers get bigger, they start to get noticed more often by semi bigger streamers or big streamers which will help them grow their channel which is fine and all.

Their personality changes.

Their fans or viewers will be there to support them with whatever they do if it is a dumb move or smart move.

Now that the small guys are now semi big guys, they are going to hang out with the bigger guys more than the smaller guys. It makes sense if you stream or hang out with the bigger streamers, that is going to help you out in some way which can help your channel grow

Being friends with a bigger streamer can have its rewards if the bigger streamer is friends with bigger streamers or higher ups or have favorites

But where does that leave the small guys, Unless you are an upcoming Sonic Speedrunner or an upcoming speedrunner which they are going to support them, no doubt,

But for those, who are not an upcoming speedrunner or ex-speedrunner, then you are for the most part on your own.

Which does suck when you have the small guys who go from small to big streamers and it's like, what about the small guys? But hey, fuck the small guys right when you can hang with the bigger guys.

I suppose it's normal when you help small guys become one of the big guys, they will or may change for the worst but then when they have friends and fans/viewers who encourage this will make things worst.

I really do feel most streamers lose sight of their way when their goal is to aim for the top and I don't mind, when people want to do well and that is fine, but don't forget the mall people who were there and hell, did their best to support you when you was still growing.

4 So what happens after they get bigger

Well, let's see what happens, they will have a fan base. They will have an ego, Helping out the smaller guys is not cool but helping out bigger guys is cool and has a bigger payout and you know, bigger streamer need to protect their "Image"

They can't be seen talking to smaller streamer cause that's is just bad to do unless the bigger streamer is friends with the smaller streamer.

As they get bigger, they tend to forget that you are their friend, things you have done for them or tried to support them or nice stuff for them and hell wishing them a Happy birthday, something small as that is just gone and forgotten..

But will they return the favorite? Like hell they would, If you are lucky, at most they will host you and stay for about 2 to 3 mins, making the host pointless and at worse, they will lurk in your chat for 1 to 2 mins, Not even so much as a hi or hello.

I guess keeping up your "image" takes top priority over everything because you know, watching men and woman speedrun a game then blame said game like an idiot and yell at said game is so much better.

They love that you come watch them stream or speedrun, They are happy to get hosts or get people chatting during streams, getting raided by a small streamer or a big streamer. getting silly gifts or having people saying something as simple as "Happy Birthday" they love that as well.

So you would think, all of this said and done that they would do one of these things for their friends, you know, the small guys. I'm sorry "friends" but to answer, they will be glad to help out but It's selectively on who they want to help out and favorites play a role.

You can be their "friend" as they call you and try to do your best for them but still get shit on because it's a waste of time, it's why I don't even try to bother anymore cause, why waste my time trying to be "friends" with someone who doesn't care to return the favor

Like I said, it's fine when people want to grow and gain more out of twitch and find their place but don't shit on the smaller guys cause you were in their shoes at one time and it does burn and hurt.

5 Twitch affiliate and oh boy

So, let's see.. Twitch lower the requirements that is needed to earn Partnership which can grant a user a subscribe button where users can pay 4.99 to support a stream or pay a bit more to really support them

But to add to this, Twitch also added the "Twitch affiliate" program, where if you can also have 5 or 10 viewers per stream that you can join this program where you get bits which are with normally twitch partners, but they are part of this program.

Think of it as a half a sub button program. You can get bits but you are not a partner so that is a thing. Now this is not a problem but this is not going to help the egos of the big streamers who are not partnered

And I'm sure this will make things worse by giving the big streamers a bigger ego but greedy down the line, but I want to see how this will play out but who knows, things may still be the same

6 Hi there, White knights?

Oh hi, I am sure someone has posted this somewhere and made this seem like this rant was aimed at someone or "This post is mean and so rude :( It made me cry" or "This person made a rant aimed at me..." Or you were sent by your leader, no questions asked to yell "Why would you say such bad things about my streamer?!"

See, At the start, I said "But before I do start. THIS IS A RANT, I will talk about that later. Remember this as this will be relevant, later in the post."

People tend to hate when others make rants about them and tend to confuse a Rant or vent for an attack on someone, which is sad. Give your opinion on someone, instead of talking it out with themselves, they will get someone else to do it which always backfires and makes things worse.

So I will make this clear as I can. This is not an attack on any streamer, but it is aimed for at a few streamers but you know. "WHY ARE YOU RANTING ABOUT MY FAVORITE STREAMER?!?!" Or something to that effect in caps. lol.

It's funny when you have "Friends" who say, they will be by your side but then turn around to try to tell you what you can and can't say. I love you guys but telling me what I can and can't say is rude when I listen to you say shit I would say no to

They are friends but white knights but oh well, don't get in my way and there will be no problems. But this is the internet.

7 What I learned at the end of this rant

I learned that most streamers when starting out are fun to be around but when they get a big ego and become a big streamer then you are kicked to the side like trash.

I learned not to trust every streamer I see as it can or will backfire

When a streamer calls you a friend, doesn't mean you are a friend

Big streamers care about being at the top with other big streamers

If you are a friend to a small stream but they get big, you do get forgotten

Streamers of these days are manipulative at times, they will play dirty and will backstab people if they need to get by or get the chance to.

Small guys are fucked over. But some small streamer is not completed fucked over as there are teams they can join.

Do I feel like streamers owe me anything? no. They are not my friends, they are just Twitch personalities to me. Strangers.

My longest rant to date and this has been a rant I been wanting to do for a while now.

And I may be a small guy but at least if I know I get fucked over, which that has already happened, lol. I have great Best friends like Mastakirby, Hyper, Zomb1e Noob, Evan, Tigre and SBC and others. :P

I won't be shocked if I get some dumb tweet from a White knight cause someone misread this post. lol. But that's fine, my blog and I am free to say what I please.

I guess one more thing I can say is, Twitch is like an RPG, You gain followers and you get stronger and you can make friends but once someone is too strong then the weak are left behind and forgotten, till they are needed.

Re: Twitch Blackout

There was a call for boycotting Twitch yesterday. To not go live, to not support the platform, to not support those that did stream on the platform. When I discussed this with my community, none of them knew that it was called for, why it was being called for, or what had been exposed during the days leading up to it. So I chose to stream. Not for gaming content, but rather a discussion with anyone who chose to show up.

We talked about what had happened to get us to this point. We talked about what we could do on a personal level and as a community to help prevent these types of actions. As a community, we discussed steps that could be taken to prevent these things in the future and came up with ideas that could be implemented for the platform to be a safer place.

Rather than silence, I chose discourse. While there are, likely, many which will try to shame me for that, I am glad I did it.

Below, you’ll find the notes I took during our discussion. The VOD will be exported to YT later today.

What has happened -

- Many people coming forward with abuse stories revolving around Twitch interactions or people they met through Twitch.

- Many of these cases happen off platform, at meet ups, conventions, etc.

- Start online through Twitch channels, communities, and streamers.

Issues -

- Companies that propagate sexualization onto customers through advertisements - not limited to gaming industry!

- False sense of superiority by streamers from constant ego stroking by platforms.

- Sexualized advertisements that are inappropriate to content - adult products advertised on channels or videos who's target audiences are children or teens.

- Sexual abuse around gaming conventions or meetups.

- Abusive relationships (physical, mental, emotional)

- Grooming/Gaslighting by community members

Grooming (with intent to abuse) - Grooming is when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a vulnerable person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. Victims are groomed can be sexually abused, exploited or trafficked. Anybody can be a groomer, no matter their age, gender or race. Anyone can be a victim of grooming. Person being groomed many times doesn't realize it - gaslighting.

Gaslighting - Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment, often evoking in them cognitive dissonance and other changes including low self-esteem.

Solutions -

- Allow those that are accused to defend themselves - do not resort to mob rule. - Find the truth.

- Do not victim blame.

- Talk to someone!!! If you suspect or see something suspicious, speak up! Tell the person you suspect of being abused/taken advantage of. Tell the mods, tell the streamer.

- Educational videos/ads - These could be short bites that educate viewers on warning signs that run during regular ad spots. Could be sponsored by products/companies that already run ads on Twitch.

- REPORT TO AUTHORITIES - it is important that abusive actions be reported to the appropriate authorities.

- Consequences for fake accusations. As bad as it sounds, sometimes people will report those who have done nothing. While we don't want to deter legitimate reports, false accusations have the potential to ruin careers and lives. We want to avoid that.

What Can We Do -

- Make sure people know they aren't alone - offer support to victims, encourage them to report their abuser if they haven't done so already.

- Be involved! Know who your friends hang out with and interact with. Observe how those interactions progress and how your friends are being treated.

- Buddy system! Look out for your friends. Don't go to meet and greets alone. <<<< DON’T LEAVE YOUR BUDDY BEHIND >>>> Don't let your buddy leave with a stranger.

- Have a separation plan with your buddy. Have an agreed meeting place if you get separated and if your buddy doesn't meet within a specified time period, have them paged by security.

- Spread awareness/make yourself aware of signs of grooming, gaslighting, and abusive relationships.

- Don't be afraid to say NO or STOP. If something is making you uncomfortable, speak up.

- Don't compromise yourself or your ideals to please others.

- If you feel unsafe, draw others into the conversation. Get away. Do NOT allow yourself to be put into a situation where you're alone.

- Draw attention to the behavior so others are made aware. - IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING. Tell the mods, tell the streamer.

- Identify what makes you uncomfortable and let others know.

- As the streamer or mods, set the example. DON'T encourage this type of behavior. If you see it, put a stop to it.

- Have good mods! These should be people who will uphold the values you want your community to have. They should be there to identify the problems and to take action be that a warning to the person, reporting, or banning as necessary.

- DON'T SUPPORT STREAMERS/STREAMS/COMMUNITIES THAT ENCOURAGE THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR. Don't host, raid, sub, gift sub, or drop bits in channels that undesirable behavior takes place in.

- Turn on Friends Only whispers - Stop random whispers.

- Turn on Verified Accounts Only for your chat.

What we would like to see -

- Ads describing situations/warning signs with links to places to report behavior. (As described above.)

- Link to a more detailed report / Ability to upload TOS violation evidence (SS, clips) while reporting on Twitch. (Optional use for more serious violations/abuses seen within communities or by streamers. It may seem excessive, but the current reporting doesn't offer these options, though it is still adequate for average run of the mill trolls. Link or redirect request to more detailed/functional reporting could be integrated into current report menus.)

- Report is of serious nature - Twitch connects reporter with appropriate law enforcement through link/sharing of report at user request.

- Consistent punishment from Twitch. Equal punishment for violations, not based on viewer base.

- If person is banned from channel, don't allow them to VIEW stream. No talking, no viewing chat, no viewing content.

- If Banned, all attached accounts also banned. (Multiple accounts can be made attached to the same email. Bans should ban all accounts that have been made under the same email.)

- Separate chat log independent from VOD, with time stamps. (Potential use for TOS violation reporting) Unlike user specific chats which can be seen through Twitch interface, this would allow showing interacting user reactions/statements in the chat log versus one person’s postings.)

- Channel bans based on Court of Law outcomes on cases. (Attach case file number from CoL when filing or updating Twitch report) [Suspension of activity/blocking of sub renewal while under active case.]

- Concerning false accusations - Internal records kept (tied to verified email) that after 3 strikes against email results in accounts tied to verified email being temp banned, escalation if more false reports filed to perm ban.

- Ability to update ongoing investigated report with new evidence/info. (Limited to the more detailed report)

- Twitch page with links by country to available resources and helplines for victims and those suffering.

- Should not need said BUT - persons filing reports against others kept confidential to avoid attacks against reporter, victim blaming, shouting down the accuser.

Open Letter to Amazon on WHY I’m Leaving Prime

Dear Amazon,

As you’re most likely aware, you sent an e-mail noting that you’re removing site-wide ad-free viewing from Twitch / Amazon Prime. This, sadly is the ONLY REASON why I actually signed up for Prime in the first place! You’re saying there’s other things that make Twitch (& Amazon) Prime valuable... but I’m not seeing those values, so I’m going to break them down.

Free Games -- While it’s nice to get some free stuff, UNFORTUNATELY, it’s stuff that I already have on Steam... so it becomes a redundancy in my library of platforms. Just like GoG’s Connect service, where they give me a copy of a game on their platform because I already have it on Steam. GoG does this because they believe I shouldn’t have to pay more than once for a game & helps provides them a gateway into become a preferred game distribution platform. Right now, the only game that I would possibly use the Twitch app to play would be Minecraft with a specific mod pack... considering that you canceled Breakaway (a game I tried to enjoy during the limited windows you provided & one that I might have kept playing).

Free Game Loot -- While it’s nice to get some loot boxes & free stuff for some games I own, it’s not a “must have” for me to subscribe to Prime. For the PuBg stuff, I only paid like $5 in the Steam marketplace for the first set of Twitch Prime exclusive stuff. If they weren’t locked down, I would be tempted to buy the other sets on the marketplace.

Free Channel Subscription -- Another “Nice to have” deal as I can support a channel without extra cost. HOWEVER, I’m already paying the subscription fees to the channels I watch most of the time & want to support (even supporting them via Patreon)... so this free sub is more of a throwaway deal, going to channels I’m watching as frequently (those typically affiliates instead of full partners). Since I’m discontinuing Prime, I might reinvest those funds into a few of them... or just throw out some gift subs.

Custom chat color & badge -- More cosmetic stuff I don’t really care about.

60 Day VOD’s -- Would be a “nice of have” if I was broadcasting (I’ve stopped streaming due to a chaotic work schedule, making it nearly impossible to have a consistent stream time). Besides, I can just record locally & post to YouTube later.

Free 2-day shipping on orders -- Would be useful if I was shopping more on Amazon. If any member of staff bothers to check my order history, you can see how little I buy. Since Walmart* offers free 2-day shipping & in-store pick-up on stuff, I’m more inclined to use them on everyday stuff.

Streaming Video -- I’m already paying for Netflix, Hulu & YouTube Premium**.. so there’s a lot of overlap here & there’s really no exclusives I want to watch... pretty much killing that value.

Streaming Music -- I’m already paying for Google Music All-Access** in addition to having a good chunk of my personal library already on their servers (for my account). Already having it on my phone & tablet (as part of Google services) already didn’t hurt either.

FULL DISCLOSURE NOTES:

Walmart is my current employer... so I have a personal interest in utilize & promotion their services, in addition to my Associate’s Discount that automatically applied.

Google Music All-Access, which includes YouTube Premium (formerly Red), was set up with a family account (that I established & maintain). My father has elected to pay for this subscription with this card directly instead of reimbursing me.

It was only the ad-free viewing on Twitch that prodded me to actually jump into Prime as that was getting annoying on a few streams, especially as the ad rolls were generally poorly timed (happening in the middle of the action, instead of a planned break) & disruptive of the stream. Running ads during a schedule break of a broadcaster isn’t as jarring. This was also major thing why I originally subscribed to YouTube Red (now YouTube Prime) as ads were annoying, so I paid to remove them. Once my father got online, I upgraded from a personal to a family subscription (which was only $5 more) so he could enjoy the benefits... which moved him to cover the subscription fee for the family (as he utilizes it the most).

As a result, I am discontinuing my Prime subscription as there’s no longer anything of reasonable value. I might return with a Twitch Turbo subscription (as you have kept the ad-free viewing with it), but I’ll have to wander off to some unknown channels (for me) & see how bad the ad rolls are before I actually pay for it... or leave the app & go with the browser (that I already have uBlock & NoScript installed). I’m not going to discontinue my individual channel subscriptions (as I want to support them & use their emotes), but the the discontinuation with ad-free viewing will likely cut back on my random viewing ventures.

I am aware that many streamers & partners are disabling ad rolls on their channels as personal choice as well as many others discontinuing their Prime subscriptions in the process. This backlash is mostly because it makes you (Amazon) seem greedy by rolling back benefits while not really benefiting the streamers on Twitch. I hope this causes enough of a fiscal downturn (where the cost of all the lost prime subs outweighs the ad revenue you’re trying to push) to reconsider this change. This isn’t the first time where a subscription fee or changes to benefits have caused me to reconsider stuff & part ways with other services as I didn’t agree with the new stuff. Until you choose to value your userbase more than raw profits, don’t expect those departing to return.
