"scoot over."
iwaizumi looks at you as a confused grunt leaves him, his body unmoving from where it's settled in the nest of your pillows. you pout, "scoot over, haji."
"hah?" his eyebrows raise as he sits back up on his elbows to look at you, your head resting in your palm as you're turned towards him. he wants to admire your pyjama's and settle his beating heart from going into overdrive, wants to have an emotional reaction to you using his first name (and a nickname) for the first time, but your unusual demand is keeping him from it, "don't you wanna cuddle?" he asks then and you sigh before you let your head hit your pillow, "bacon sleeps on that part of my pillow."
his eyes widen at you. really? you're sleeping next to the each other for the first time and you're worried about the cat? iwaizumi accidentally scoffs and prepares a gruff joke but the glare you immediately send his way stops him. "he doesn't like you very much to begin with, i think you should be careful about hogging his spot, too. he's very particular."
iwaizumi lets his head hit the pillow too with a sigh and it isn't until you hear the all too familiar sound of iwaizumi's rival, bacon, enter the stage. you coo at him as he crawls over iwaizumi (he didn't need his ribs, anyways) to settle. the cat stops and sends a curious gaze at the situation in front of him. if iwaizumi knew cats better, he'd say it was challenging him. you laugh and push at iwaizumi, "c'mon haji, scoot. he's waiting."
he gives the cat his best glare before he grumbles out unintelligible words and moves towards the edge of the bed. the cat wastes no time in crawling over to its designated spot and settles with you scratching its back. to iwaizumi's surprise, bacon settles with his face turned towards him, his eyes unblinking and unmoving as they watch iwaizumi. as if waiting for him to leave. what a deeply unsettling cat.
iwaizumi hears you giggle as you blindly reach for his hand, "i'm sorry. i promise he'll get used to you soon enough. if it's any consolation, he'll probably go for the foot of the bed in a few hours."
a few hours.
how wonderful. iwaizumi grips onto your hand as well and squeezes, "you're lucky i love you."
and then there's silent. he's unsure if you already fell asleep, straining his ears to listen after your breathing. he's about to say your name when your breath hitches and you punch his hip, "you can't just say it like that so casually! oh my god i stopped breathing for a second!"
iwaizumi's eyes are wide as he tries to make out your silhouette in the dark. he can faintly see you hiding your face in the fur of your cat as its now your turn to mumble unintelligible sounds.
then it dawns on him and he can't help but laugh from the bottom of his stomach as he holds a hand to his own face.
you're the first partner he's ever said it to.
the cat jumps up and leaves the bed. he didn't need his organs either, he faintly thinks as it uses him as its jumping point to leave. you scoot to hide in iwaizumi's chest, "i love you too, y'know."
he wraps his arms around you and kisses the crown of your head, trying to control the happiness and warmth inside of him at your words.
he can live with bacon, if he gets you.

(Disclaimer/PSA: All points are asks contributed by the community, the mods take no credit for the ideas within them)
If you would like specific credit in the masterpost, please sign within the text of the ask! (A dash and a signature at the end should do.) Asks not signed will be treated as anonymous.
Summary posts:
Not all elements of plot and character will be summarized, but here are a few basic things you may want to be familiar with before submitting an ask! (Unless you are purposely aiming to create an [ALTERNATE] idea for a Hermit)
1 - Starting positions and each Hermit's powers (based on the submissions from Day 1)
Summary post 2 - Interpersonal connections (based on Day 1 and 2 submissions)
Make sure to check out the second masterpost here for more up to date information, including newer art and writing!
Asks:
- (copied ask) [summarized mod comment]
- Hermitopia | Scar was experimented on by Cub. He gained dangerous powers and wings that resemble a dragon’s, but he keeps both hidden. Unless someone makes him angry. He has no idea who gave him his powers. Eventually he and Cub decided that they wanted to control things beyond their corporation, so Scar ran for mayor. (there are things to fill in but im lazy) [Scar assumes he got the powers in an accident during research. He enjoys having them but has no idea that they were intentional.]
- Hermitopia AU team ZIT is a superpowered crime-fighting trio!
- owing to a very particular set of guidelines he put in place, Joe can now copy powers if he sees them in use and can reverse-engineer how those powers are used. needless to say, this is massively overpowered in the right hands.but it got worse. at some point, there was an... incident... on ConCorp grounds, something to do with a mass amount of entities causing time dilation -- and Joe was caught in the thick of it, unable to be rescued for a while.the problem is, he got out by piecing together how the time dilation worked.needless to say, Joe... has a ridiculous powerset. so he chooses largely not to use his powers anymore unless it's absolutely dire or petty enough to shrug off as a random occurrence. nobody needs to know that one of the most powerful Unaffiliated in the city is standing right in front of them... especially not ConCorp.
- doc was a former high ranking employee of concorp before he volunteered for an experiment and it went horribly wrong. since then, the company has tried to erase any evidence of his existence. doc is now seeking revenge for all that the company did to him and is determined to tear it apart
- HI ok follow up asks will be sent later when my thoughts are coherent but concept: cleo has like super messed up healing powers where she can make healing go Too Far. also i pin her as unbound, considering, like, everything - shovel-shuffle
- So, his power was meant to be super-regen, right? except things don't always quite go to plan. Someone volunteered for the powers surgeries and is arguably dead. Etho is a name shared by the many many clones that developed themselves out of the leftovers. They're not quite individuals, not quite a hivemind. Any one of them has no fear of death because the others will continue, but they all act independently around their overarching goal. (which I won't snitch about) - DragonKay
- Bdubs was a hero. Key word? Was. He climbed the ranks through the government, he was a loyal and dutiful member of society, and he used his plant manipulation powers to subdue evil-doers without hurting them. But he’s always been a friendly guy, and he couldn’t help himself—talking to the Unrestrained, especially those in custody, was interesting! ...but it’s a slippery slope to walk, being friendly with the enemy and not sympathizing to their cause. Nobody knows where he is now, but there are rumours of a vigilante with similar abilities, and his three compatriots, two of whom he helped escape from ConCorp... They call themselves the nHo. - slimetek [Bdubs deserted Concorp while helping Doc escape after his experiment went wrong]
- Concorp managed to make a device that allows animals to speak or translate their thoughts into writing. This means that the good old mayor Scar has a certain cat giving some advice on how to run the city.
- Iskall is an assasin/mercenary against their own volition. An accident they'd rather forget almost killed them, and in exchange for their freedom and free will they got to live as a cyborg. Though its hard to forget with the implant that covers their eye and the limb of cool metal hanging at their side - @ghastly-ghostie [Iskall works for Concorp off-books, bound by the debt owed to them for the life saving experimental modifications]
- so I think grians original powers could be like cloning, but something goes wrong and the clones are different people. as a result of the duplication process, some funky magic rocks are made. the clones decide to take most of the funky rocks and run off, leaving grian with one rock that gives him some new abilities and the clones' rocks give him others. also uhh mechanical wings bc yes. so grians plot is him trying to find them while also causing problems on purpose. infinity stones. update to my grian ask from earlier, I had better ideas: the rocks are old like magic things that grian finds before the cloning and ends up collecting, but his clones snatch them - simplyskipper [some of the alternate Grians are aligned with different factions in Hermitopia, while the locations of others are farther or unknown]
- Hermitopia- Impulse has solid-light powers. He has golden crystals implanted in his hands, which he can reflect light through to solidify it into all sorts of shapes. This can be used to make barriers, projectiles, and much more, though more detailed constructs take more time.- @mleemwyvern
- Hermitopia AU Poultry man is a well-known chaotic neutral leaning towards good, as a one of the unrestrained.
- I think Team ZIT should be a little be wild card-y, that's how they act after all! [they are employed by the government for standard crimefighting, but they don't always take Scar's word at its intended meaning and often play a bit on the chaotic side when given instructions]
- [Hermitopia AU] False is an antihero/vigilante type who's specialty is not defined by powers or the such, but just... the absolute skill of being able to dual wield two (more sci-fi era) short swords. Maybe someone upgrades them to be "enchanted" (electrical, fire, etc. something that tech could do well probably). She's willing to be paid-for-hire, but if you go past her moral line she's also willin' to backstab you. -- @cheshire-vex [she's a free agent who sort of drifts between Concorp, the government, and whoever else will pay her on a job-by-job basis]
- Hermitopia impulse has more connections then one may think. He has ties to people pretty much everywhere, for reasons unknown. There is a 100% someone will come and greet him wherever he goes. [the greetings are usually friendly]
- Hermitopia Au! Keralis is a hero who most people wouldn't expect to be too skilled at fighting. His power is similar to hypnosis so he has no need to get very physical. Yeah, that changed when some bastard villain decided to attack his friends shop. [that incident caused his employer Scar to realize his untapped potential for protecting people and assign him to a few more high-stakes jobs]
- Hermittopia!TFC was one of ConCorp’s first experiments and as such his powers are a bit less...refined then the others. He has geokinetic powers, allowing him to psychically control rocks and other earthen materials. He used to be one of the VEX programs top graduates, but has since parted ways with them for unknown reasons and now operates his own plans of keep crime in Hermitopia under control. -lechairpourriedegrianri [he is considered Unaffiliated and both Concorp and the government largely leave him to his own devices, since he is helping to keep the city together]
-Wels doesn't have powers. He does have a super-suit made of fire and heat resistant carbon fibre (like the material used for the space shuttle) and has a built in hologram projector. One time, he used the hologram projector to project an image of himself, which everyone thought was a clone. He didn't have the heart to tell them otherwise. (AKA everyone thinks Wels has powers but he doesn't) -Silverwolf53 [he got the suit in Project VEX]
- To follow up on the Impulse ask- Team ZIT are a space-themed superhero team. Government-aligned, at least for now.Tango has meteor-like powers, he can shoot fire from his hands and feet and often uses this to propel himself at high speeds. Zed has gravity powers! He can increase or decrease the density of any object, to the point of making small black holes. They all have space-themed costumes, and it was probably Zed's idea. - @mleemwyvern
- TFC was the first participant in project VEX
- Grian was an attempted success. It fixed some problems with Etho's unintended cloning, but at the same time created some problems of its own, seeing as the clones appeared to have a life of their own. It's fine, though. It's probably fine
- I would say Grian is unrestrained, a bit like Etho, Chaotic in his own way. Does not activily Try to hurt people, but does mostly what he wants for fun.-Ciara
- Xisuma is a civilian- he has hero friends, but despite all their teasing he’s never wanted to go through VEX training. But in the night, the unrestrained Void walks the streets [Void is a symbiotic creature made of nothingness that uses Xisuma's body as a substitute physical form]
- Bdubs was such a good man... he could be trusted to look after Doc, couldn’t he? Somebody had to oversee him, somebody who was reliable and would never, ever consider betraying the mayor and ConCorp...They let their guard down, and Bdubs got curious. Bdubs made a friend. And then they lost him.- Slimetek
- The hels hermits are considered evil by default. How do you spot these clones, how could you protect yourself? Well in the past it was a lot easier, just look for their red eyesNowadays contacts exist but that doesn't stop people trying to call the police on tango, calling him a hels. Hes netherian, they have unnatural eye colours and their iris fills the entire eye, hes not evil but if people keep doing this hes gonna be!
- Beef woke up from his brain surgery to receive telepathy powers, took one look into the mind of the overseer, and noped put of there as fast as he could go.He's on very public record. After all, the mind control he may be capable of is a very convenient explanation for anyone who turns against concorp... ~DragonKay
- Hypno can’t control minds. They say he does. It’s why he’s named Hypno, after all.In reality, he can’t control people like that... but he can control what they see.Your best friend might look like your greatest enemy. A pit of lava might look like solid ground. A 100-foot drop might look like a step down. It’s a good thing he’s a hero, and a good thing he keeps his true powers hidden beneath a guise of low-level hypnotism. There’s no telling what he could do if they let him go. [he works for Concorp, helping to protect VEX trainees from people trying to harm them before they get a chance to finish the program, as well as keeping other resources safe]
- The 9th Street Incident [referring to an earlier Impulse comment] was a friendly greeting. That particular version of Etho just thought that drawing weapons would be a friendly greeting for Impulse, but Tango and Zed seem to disagree
- They still don’t trust Bdubs. He was with the government for a long time, and things are hard out there on the run. Besides, they don’t know what he got up to there. ConCorp could have any sort of information on him, something that might scare him back.Bdubs understands this. He doesn’t want to go back. He’d hate to go back....but they think he will, and maybe there’s something he’s not telling them. An ace that ConCorp has yet to play.- Slimetek
- Mumbo works for concorp as an engineer specialising in robotics, most recently taking on the task of maintaining Iskall's cybernetics that somehow they just keep damaging. Iskall assures him they're just.. very clumsy. So far Mumbo hasn't caught on.
- Ren's power is that hes a werewolf, but he only found out when he was in his late teens with his childhood friend Iskall. He still feels guilty about it, he did kill his best friend afterall. Or so he thinks. He's lived off grid ever since, too overwhelmed with grief and guilt to rejoin society. Most assume he's dead too - @ghastly-ghostie [Ren dropped Iskall off to Concorp as a last ditch effort, running away before he could see whether they took his friend in or not. They did, starting Iskall's plotline. Iskall told Concorp about Ren's abilities, triggering a panic in the Concorp ranks at the fact that Ren is a superhuman being created by some force other than their own project]
- Where does Void come from? The same place all powers come from.Little did they know, something survived the crash and has taken a human host. Maybe it's not the only one...No, that place is not Concorp. Concorp's original goal was to develop technology by reverse-engineering from a crashed alien spaceship. These aliens did gene-editing the way some people do nose jobs, so they adapted that technology, too.~DragonKay
- i've already said a bit about it in the discord but i have hermitopia cleo brainrot. joe being there was able to save her by giving her the regen powers along with her puppeteering telekinesis power. anyways cleo is presumed dead, sent by concorp into a mission as fodder basically until zit could arrive. but now there's is one (1) bitter undead vigilante against concorp that is presumed dead
- Stress’s name has a few meanings in relation to her. Whenever she gets too angry or /stressed/, she transforms into the StressMonster, a monster that feeds off of other people’s stress to become more powerful. Luckily, the monster is rarely seen, but does terrible things when she is. She’s one of the most feared creatures in Hermitopia. Stress hates her and tries her best to hide her from her friends, but it can backfire sometimes. - @guster-animations
- to follow-up on Joe being presumed dead: remember the time dilation incident he was stuck in? ConCorp figured it was best to cut their losses and not try to send anyone in to rescue him -- it would be a pointless mission. so they abandoned him, quietly announced that he had died in the line of duty, and put the affected area under high security clearance in order to prevent any future accidents. they figured he was already dead. and Joe figures, given that they up and abandoned him, maybe it's for the best that they continue to figure just that. he changed his last name to "Hills" -- a joke about the biome containing the time anomaly -- and otherwise proceeded to stay under the radar. he still uses the time dilation area as a base of operations, sometimes; it's very useful to have a hideout that people physically cannot get into/out of without his direct assistance. is he nursing a grudge, coming up with some convoluted scheme to get back at the paramilitary group for abandoning him? or does he just want to live a relatively normal life off the grid? who knows. that's the Joe [REDACTED] Hills difference. -@betweenlands
- False has some big scary power that is almost Eldritch she just happens to prefer a sword and doesn’t really care for who she works for as long as they’re paying... (they don’t need to know of the power that had harmed the ones she loves the most)
- Keralis once encountered Void sulking around where Xisuma worked. So fearful for his friend’s safety, he used his power on Void and told him to go away. Apparently the charm is still active, because if Void spots Keralis anywhere, he’ll turn tail and run. No, it’s not because he’s scared. Absolutely not.
- Grumbot serves as a sentient supercomputer created by Mumbo for Grian. Grian is using Grumbot for... various activities, all of which harmless, but a certain evil clone [Helsknight] has reverse engineered the technology. Concorp would like for Mumbo to give them the tech, but mumbo stuck some eyes to the computer, got emotionally attached, and refuses to give up his baby boy.
- When Impulse hears his friend/colleague Bdubs has been "taken over" by the mind-controller [Beef], he wants to go on an off-the-books mission to rescue him! Just giving up like they were told to isn't in his nature.Of course the rest of ZIT are with him. Heroes save people! It's what they do!~DragonKay
- Hermitopia is a mixture of sleek futuristic and cyberpunk in terms of style. It really depends on where you live and work (ik this doesnt include any hermits but whatever) - @ghastly-ghostie
- I wonder if Cleo's overactive healing powers affect herself and if any injuries she receives immediately heal over like wolverine or deadpool
- Ren used to be friends with Cleo too, but then she died. Strangely enough, she died on the same day that Ren killed Iskall. Ren’s lost all his friends. It’s hard living in isolation when there’s no one left that even cares about you. (Unless— no, that’s impossible.)
- I was thinking about Biffa, like you do. And Biffa would totally be some robot that was created by Project VEX in its early stages, however they realised fast that it was easier to use humans and give them powers, maybe its not their strong suit with robots. But Biff went sentient and glitched and was scrapped so hes just out there doing his thing. Hes a wildcard and plays for which side he wants at the time, sometimes he'll help or sometimes hes the one causing trouble. He looks pretty similar to a android like in Detroit:Become human but hes a bit uncanny and eerie, maybe its the eyes or the blood red armour. Powerwise, he's got more strength than a human does, mainly because he isn't limited like others are. try not to get punched by him, it'll hurt! [He's convinced Concorp will destroy him if they find out he's alive and Unaffiliated] -lucodak
- Going off of my thing about hermotopia impulse having friends everywhere....this may include the nho. Okay, they beat him to a pulp on one of his solo patrols once, but theey felt bad n patched him up! He has to keep it a secret. He brings them dinner alot. And checks in on them.
- Beef is the perfect cover-up for Bdubs’ desertion. ConCorp doesn’t want any other employees getting bright ideas, now, do they? Nor do they want employees getting nosy and trying to figure out where Bdubs went. They don’t have to tell people what Beef’s powers are. They just release that he developed powers after brain surgery, and a rumour that he was spotted lurking around before Bdubs suddenly betrayed ConCorp... and people draw their own conclusions. -Slimetek
- xB is pretty sure he’s supposed to be evil.I mean, that’s what sentient AIs usually end up being, according to a quick internet search. And yet he’s... not. Or maybe he’s just on the wrong side. - Slimetek
- Yes impulse is friends with the nho....what he doesn't know? He's....easily susceptible to hypnosis. Very easily.......Of course, after impulse is basically a very tired n warm cuddle bug, so, cuddle piles tend to happen after all information is spilled. He must've fallen asleep at their apartment again! Whoops! But it's okay.....they take good care of him if he does! [Beef is using his mind reading ability on Impulse without his knowledge, to make sure that he hasn't spilled their location and to predict the government's next moves. He feels slightly bad about it but feels that it is necessary for the nHo's survival.]
- So far, Grian has only ever encountered two of his clones, NPC Grian and Robot Grian. Technically three, if one were to count Ariana Griande. Grian doesn't really, but some do. [Ariana Griande is a popular musician in Hermitopia who is building a career using the magical stone of voice enhancement she recieved through the cloning process]
- To handle the two Grumbot issue: the one working with Helsknight can be Jrumbot, a legion of robot drones meant to work as Grumbot’s physical form that ended up being hijacked by Helsknight and turned against ConCorp
- There...aren’t a lot of “normal” animals left in Hermittopia. ConCorp took one look at the animals populating the city and decided that, hey, they could make some improvements. Species after species, they modified their behavior, appearance, internal structure, whatever they could fix, tweak, or add. They were just improving their lives and the lives of the citizens of Hermittopia, after all, but the new animals quickly outcompeted the old for resources and habitats. And if it makes it easier for ConCorp to stick a camera in one or two of them, or set up robotic animals to keep a better eye on the city, no harm, no foul, right?(Bonus: there is one (1) singular cat left in Hermittopia, resulting in a spy movie-style heist where two teams of Hermits attempt to “rescue” the cat simultaneously. The cat keeps wandering away from both teams. Shenanigans ensue)- Adonis [the cat is Jellie, who orchestrated the competition between Team ZIT and Cleo and Joe for her own entertainment, getting away from both parties in the end]
- The Leak:Not all mutations are the result of controlled experiments! If some alien tech got away from the crash site, concorp never would have picked it up. It might have got into nature, not as refined as they made it in the labs but causing little changes here and there. Ren may have become a werewolf from being bitten by a mutant wolf~DragonKay
- Impulse is able to use his powers to create illusions or male things appear invisible! Sort of. After all, light dictates what we see. It takes a lot of focus, though, so it's not that practical. -@rayveewrites
- The one thing Hels wasn't able to steal was the cloning technology, hence his hostility with Concorp -- he needs the cloning device, because how else is the void going to get a body of their own? - SilverWolf53
- *glances at the hermitopia werewolf ask* okay but what if the same mystery people who made ren into a werewolf also created jevin, and maybe Etho? idk if either of them have been given any hermitopia headcanons yet lol. but im sure the same people who made a werewolf could make a sentient slime (or perhaps rescue one) or make... whatever etho is. [Since the "second organization" is an incorrect assumption believed by Concorp, Jevin was created when he came in contact with a waterway contaminated by The Leak. Concorp assumes he was created by an opposing organization and not by accident, and therefore would like to bring him in along with Ren.]
- hermitopia - mumbo and grian were friends back when cloning experiments were still happening (or . as friendly as you can be with someone who's treating you like a lab rat), but after everything went wrong and grian escaped, mumbo has his memories wiped nd thats why he's trusted w iskall's stuff? bc he inherently remembers working on high-level things without knowing where he learnt it - muscle memory, yk?anyway massive angst with grian maybe recognising mumbo, but not the other way round, and trying to rekindle their friendship? and that's where grumbot comes in? -gin [Mumbo's memory was wiped so that he would forget the deadly purpose of Iskall's cybernetics, which he was working on at the same time as the Grian project in the background. Mumbo does not remember creating Grian's mechanical wings or Iskall's arm and eye, and he has no memory of either individual previous to "meeting" Iskall as the person assigned to his repair and upkeep.]
- Etho doesn't so much have powers as he is powers. All the powers the ‘original’ had went into creating him; now he just exists, as whatever sort of being he is. Not a human one, that much is obvious. ~DragonKay [Etho has no powers beyond the hivemind and his training, due to the error in the experiment that caused the clones]
- Mumbo started the button as a joke. A nonsense social expirement to see how much people want worthless signs of status. Unfortunately things got out of hand, and violent too. But hey! It's not his fault that the five special anomalous stones were misplaced into the prize dispenser! It was just chance that they fell into the hands of the clone of the worst gremlin in the city! Don't fire him! [He was not fired, but Cub was Decidedly Unhappy with him for a good long while]
- Void mostly trashes ConCorp facilities- trying to figure out if any of his siblings survived the spaceship crash, but occasionally he’ll pilfer from a bakery, because X is a health nut and Void just wants a gods damned cookie [Void very much dislikes unseasoned chicken]
- If the Stress Monster gets too big, too dangerous, Cleo is sworn under oath to Stress to zap her with her healing powers. Cleo doesn’t like to do it, overhealing a stressed Stress makes her so calm she gets knocked out for a couple of days, but Stress can take a small comfort in the fact that at least one person out there can stop her
- Ooh with the self healing Cleo she'd be able to develop a small amount of super strength, with how the mind keeps from going full throttle because it would destroy the body once she gets over it it's hysterical strength whenever she wants [it is quite painful, but a good backup plan]
- Being a hive mind of disposable clones that can spawn new copies at will, it can sometimes be hard for the Etho Entity to remember that it is indeed a big deal for other people when they get hurt. This can make him come off as callous to those around him, placing him firmly in the "villain" category in most citizen's books, but he really doesn't intend any harm!
- Grian used to be tall, but then the cloning happened. With each clone they stole a little bit of his height making him the short man he is today. He needs to capture those clones and get his height back. [Grian isn't entirely sure how to accomplish this, but he's dead set on trying! He misses being tall!]
- While Grian was perfectly fine with Ariana Griande living her own life, he did insist on one thing. Her "older brother" getting backstage access whenever she was on tour. He's very proud and supportive of her and her music career.
- Mumbo is perfectly content working in tech, watching the other hermits get up to crazy shenanigans. Except of course, there was that one time he was out testing some new gear and accidentally saved a crowd from some villains... and there were all those times after too...But hey! It’s not his fault that people like him, and he certainly isn’t going to get caught by Concorp during his after hours activities. [Mumbo considers himself an accidental hobbyist, not thinking he has the nerve or the skill for proper hero work. Time will tell if he's right about that or not...but unfortunately, he probably is. This should be fun.]
- There’s still some people overseeing VEX, even over Cub. They’re the ones that push Cub to do certain experiments or to scrap one. They’re the ones to give Cub the decision for Iskall’s life debt. Scar was under them too for the longest time, but eventually he wanted out. Cub still wanted in. They were still in the right, right? That’s what they tell him. He’s starting to doubt it. [Cub is way too invested in everything he's built to even think about going rogue now, but he does resent and occasionally question the judgement of his superiors increasingly as his project begins to fail more and more often. He also fears that Scar's shift in career will be seen as a betrayal, rather than as a tactical attempt to gain the company influence in the government.]
- Been thinking about the impulse + nho asks and just,,, what would happen if concorp/the government found out? It cant be good with interrogation/hypnosis on both sides (incase you cant tell,, the brainrot got me as well) (apologies if this is a mess im excited) [Hypno is assigned to set up an illusionary conversation to make Impulse reveal nHo location to Concorp and government agents while thinking that he's actually talking to the nHo in a random encounter]
- The one mind Beef can't read is Etho's. Their hivemind is just too weird for him to comprehend. If he ever tries to listen in, it sounds like just a bunch of static from an old TV.
- for hermitopia au!: Out of most of the heros, the most reckless may be team zit. sure they tell themselves they'll plan out missions but it's hard when they share a braincell and tango just runs in. impulse and zed share a look everytime and have to run after him to make sure he doesn't get too hurt or overwhelmed by the enemy. in their defence its hard to plan ahead against an enemy when you dont know what they are thinking.-lucodak ["You might not have known what they were thinking, Tango, but we'd generally like you to know what you're thinking!"]
- i bet ConCorp really wants to make it out like theres some secret shady organization creating all these people with mutations, rather than their own operatives deserting and their own failure to contain dangerous chemicals... whether its malicious coverups or just ignorance to the fact they messed up, wonder what would happen if that sort of thing came to light...? [If they found out that the unintentional superhumans were a result of the poorly-contained crash site? Cub would lose his job...maybe worse. If Cub found out (and he hasn't, yet) he would do everything in his power to keep that information from his superiors.]
- (paraphrased) Impulse accidentally walks in on heroes and agents breaking down the doors of the nHo's hideout and confronting them. Scar claims that they did so on information Impulse himself provided and thanks him for his service. Impulse, feeling confused and betrayed, resists Hypno's attempts to illusion him back to Scar's side and flees the scene with the nHo, knowing very little other than the fact that he doesn't want to be manipulated by the government any more (and still not knowing that Beef has been reading his mind)
- Impulse may have been labeled a traitor. But do you really think that Impulse, secret rebel, starting to learn how dangerous and corrupted Concorp really is, wouldn't let his best friends know about the danger they might be in? I think Team ZIT is more loyal to each other than to the government. - @mleemwyvern [ Impulse's first stop after escaping with the nHo is to find a place to secretly meet Tango and Zedaph and tell them about the way he was tricked. It takes a lot of explaining and a lot of trust, but they eventually decide to believe his claims and are left with a choice: will they openly go rogue and become a target along with Impulse and the rest of the nHo, or are they better off using their established image and reputation to keep an eye on the government heros' movements from the inside?]
- (two asks combined, paraphrased) Ren runs out of supplies and decides to head back into the city, confident in his ability to stay off the grid after so many years of experience and such a long time away. Once there, he runs into Doc, and they hit it off quite quickly. However, the more Ren talks the more Doc realizes - with his ex-Concorp knowledge - that Ren matches the description of Iskall's main target exactly. He warns Ren, who is then faced with the knowledge that Iskall is alive and assigned to kill him...so many questions and so many tears to follow...
- Why did Hermitopia start needing heroes? When the Unrestrained started to appear, if course. Why did the Unrestrained start to appear? A question asked a little less. When did the VEX program start? When did they start taking more risks? When did they stop caring about certainty and safety and shift towards trying to push boundaries they weren't ready to? People can be so enamoured with the concept of superhuman abilities, something bright and glorious and good- and perhaps they could have that too- they don't ask all the right questions. It's all an elaborate game of damage control, don't let the flashy heroics fool you, they've made mistakes, terrible, terrible mistakes, and now there are villains running loose with powers they fooled ConCorp into giving them. Are they villains? Are they victims? Does it matter? They're causing problems. [Project VEX has developed into a solution to its own problems, a self perpetuating cycle...one that Cub, as a businessman, is very familiar with. It's what keeps the wheels of industry turning. It's what keeps innovation creeping forward. It wasn't intentional, not this time...but if it keeps his project alive, he'll take it.]
- One time, Jevin had narrowly dodged being captured by Concorp. He was laying low in the forest out of town, when he had a run-in with some sort of wolf creature. Thankfully, claws and teeth couldn't exactly hurt him anymore, so he just played dead until it gave up.When the moon set, the wolf-thing slowly transformed into a human being. Ren was horrified at the thought he'd lost control and hurt someone- again- but Jevin assured him he was fine. Jevin got the feeling that the werewolf needed a friend, and Jevin himself needed a place to stay for a while... -RayveeWrites [Ren and Jevin are not currently in the same location, but they each have a means of contacting each other for help if needed]
- Worm Man wasn't a well- known super, but plenty of people have noticed that he seemed to vanish at the same time Team ZIT first started active duty. Those people have also noticed that one of the members has a very similar power set to WM.Officially, that's just a coincidence. Officially.-RayveeWrites [Zedaph was trying to get some unofficial practice while still in training in the VEX program]
- A common misconception is that Bdubs conjures up his vines from nowhere. He can't.Like any plant, his vines grow from seeds. They grow unnaturally fast, when Bdubs wills it, but they have to come from seeds. Where do these seeds come from, you may ask?Well, a long time ago, Bdubs ingested some strange fruits. Somehow, in wild defiance of human biology, the seeds contained in those fruits worked their way into his muscles and germinated. Some of the roots worked their way into his brain and fused into it; the rest spread through his muscles, grew beneath his skin, coiled around his bones. Thanks to the way the vines connected to his brain, Bdubs is able to command the vines, and their magic, at will. The vines produce seeds; some stay in his body to replace the old ones when they die, and most work their way into a pair of 'seed pods' in his wrists. Bdubs provides the nutrients, the energy; the vines provide the seeds, the magic. As an extra bonus: if the vines were to be totally removed from Bdubs' body, he would be at best extremely weak, and at worst dead. The vines have grown into his muscles, to the point where they've essentially replaced them in some areas. It's fortunate that they connected with his mind so early on, otherwise he'd be dead. -RayveeWrites [Concorp developed the fruit, and the fact that Bdubs is evidence of the unlikely success of that experiment makes them all the more angry at his betrayal]
- A lot of excellent xB information (it's too long to copy but please read it it's very good)
- Iskall has exactly one (1) failed assignment. That assignment? The kill or capture of Stress. Stress and Iskall have been, or should it be were now, friends for a very long time, since before Iskall even met Ren. So one can imagine the stress this causes Iskall, to be told to kill his one remaining friend that he knows is alive. Of course, this stress is quite enough to to Stress's Stress Monster into one it's strongest yet seen forms, allowing for Stress to then get away. (1/2)(2/2) Of course, Con Corp doesn't- and can never- know the true reason that Iskall cannot kill or capture Stress. If they knew, if they subjected Stress to the same hell he's in- no, that cannot happen. So Iskall hires False to protect Stress, to interfere whenever they send him on a mission for her. Luckily, False is good at keeping secrets when she wants to, and this one she'll keep. But as far as Con Corp knows, Iskall has severe stress and trauma from being a cyborg, and that's why he fails. [This all adds up to a monumental waste of Concorp's time and money, which also results in False getting payed, so all parties involved are happy except for Concorp >:)]
- Impulse would take a bullet for his teammates, and he knows they might be about to take one for him, keeping him updated on what's going on government side of this... slander. Still, Tango and Zed are great actors, and if he didn't know better, he might be a little worried they would *actually* be hunting him down in the name of justice [Tango and Zed are now being sent on missions to retrieve Impulse, which they must pretend to lose believably. They occasionally overestimate their friend's abilities and give him a few more close calls than he'd like, but overall the ruse is holding up.]
Writing:
- Wels, Hels, TFC, and Grumbot
- Bdubs Concorp promotion and desertion
- Joe Hills in his time dilation hideout
- Etho clones, ZIT, and the nHo
- Keralis and Void
- [ALTERNATE] Reveal of Impulse's situation with the nHo
Art:
- Impulse suit design

2021 Creator Self-Love Extravaganza!
Thanks for the tag, @jennagrinsoverml !
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works (fics, art, edits, etc.) you’ve created this year and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world in 2021. If you don’t have five published works, that’s fine! Include ideas/drafts/whatever you like that you’ve worked on/thought about, and talk a little about them instead! Remember, this is all about self-love and positive enthusiasm, so forget the rules if you need to. Have fun, and tag as many fellow creators as you like so they can share the love! <3
well, this year (and by that I mean last year; I’m a touch late) was actually my first year posting stories, and I wanted to start off by thanking everyone for being so welcoming on here! I was very intimidated to post my first ever chapter and I didn’t expect people to read it, much less leave such nice encouragement.
I’m sitting at 10 published stories totaling 66500 words (people have asked and yes, I compulsively re-edit to force the even numbers). Here are my top five based on an arbitrary personal ranking system I can’t explain:
1. Imbalance
15/15, 40700 words, rated T
This was my multichapter chat noir vigilante au where he is fighting evil all on his own (until he isn’t) and he meets a girl on a balcony. I’m afraid of giving away all the surprises so instead of a summary I will put one of my favorite marichat conversations from chapter three:
“You seemed a little jumpy when I first saw you.”
“A perfectly reasonable reaction, considering I thought I was being attacked.”
“You were being rescued. People always make that mistake.”
“Maybe you’re rescuing people wrong.”
This story is my number one for every possible reason. I wrote the whole thing for myself before I published a single word, and I was reluctant to to publish it. I worried that people wouldn’t like it and that their opinions would ruin it for me. But everyone reacted to every part just like I hoped they would, even picking out the tiny details I was so fond of (the ch. 9 thumb thing, amiright?). This was my first fandom experience, and I learned that it is even more fun to share the things you love with other people. (oh and people made fanart? and I cried?)
If you have a day to spare, please go read it because I’m so proud of it.
2. Star Crossed Series
Three one-shots that could be alone but are better together (like ladynoir) , 5500 words total, rated G
“So, he kept the Ladybug and the Cat apart because he knew that together they were stronger and they would certainly defeat him. But one day, despite the Butterfly’s evil plotting, they found a way to be together. You see, they… they loved each other.”
Chat went completely still beneath her.
“They both loved each other very much.” She could feel her heart racing, but she pressed on. “In… in the story.”
Post-Chat Blanc angst and I love this for two parts: the ladynoir and the feeeeeeels
3. Since We’ve No Place to Go (Let It Snow)
One-Shot, 4600 words, rated G
Marichat, snowed in together, only one bed, chaotic best friend energy. I had an impossible time picking a favorite from the A Very Lovesquare Christmas trope series, so I went with this one because I am the treasurer of Marichat nation. My favorite part: Marinette tries to guess Chat’s real name (wrong answers only).
4. The Stomach Bug
One-shot, 1900 words, rated G
Ladybug takes a sick day. Chat is very concerned.
Me again with the plot-twists. This is some adorable domestic fluff and I don’t want to spoil anything but I love this one because it’s fun and really, really cute.
5. Somebody Waits for You (Kiss Her Once For Me)
One-shot, 2900 words, rated T
This is another Very Lovesquare Christmas trope story featuring Ladynoir stuck under the mistletoe. I picked it because... okay, truth time, because I was really proud of the kiss. I wasn’t sure I could write one and I was a disaster the whole time.
Also the line “what’s got her jingle in a jam?” and #ladynoir forever.
That was fun! I am tagging anyone who sees this and wants to participate.

headcannons for hobbies? Like what they do on their off time?
Hi nonnie! I actually did a Hobbies HC for “all” ops a long time ago. But seeing that was before the expanded bios, and it only reached up to Gridlock and Mozzie, I’d say it’s time for an updated version, don’t you say?
Some of the answers are unchanged from the old post, because I already nailed it or the new info didn’t disprove my ideas. But I had to revise a lot of the answers I gave the first time around! In order to find their hobbies and/or get a glimpse of their lives beyond Rainbow and what they might like, I read all the bios, and looked up concept art, and elites, and past battlepass content, etc. And when none of that was enough, I just went with my gut instinct 😂 Thank you to @grain-crain-drain, @dagoth-menthol & @todragonsart for bouncing ideas with me when I was stuck! 💕
Hobbies Headcanons for ALL ops (up to Neon Dawn)
FBI
- Ash: According to her savta, shooting things is not a hobby, but Ash disagrees. And since according to her expanded bio she knows Hebrew, Arabic, English, French and Greek, I’m willing to bet she enjoys learning languages as well. - Thermite: He grew up on a ranch and loves riding. He’s also taken an interest in improving gadgets it seems, so my old proposal that he dabbles in forging/smithing stuff seems plausible. And based on this concept art, demolition derbies attending and maybe even competing himself too? - Pulse: He’s interested in a variety of topics and goes through phases of intense, nearly obsessive focus, until something else captures his attention. He still has a lingering fondness for building muscle cars, since it was something he used to do with his father. And like Thermite and Hibana, it seems he might enjoy demolition derbies. - Castle: He’s a language nerd, studying/reading/practicing new languages is his hobby for sure. Since the expanded bio says he rescues abused dogs, I don’t think it would be far fetched he volunteered at animal shelters too.
SAS
- Thatcher: Aside from repairing his boat, The Iron Maggie, he also enjoys fishing. He used to do that with his dad & brothers, and tried to take the rest of the SAS fishing as a bonding experience. It didn’t go very well - Sledge: He plays rugby, and has an inexplicable fondness of trying the wildest ideas that tend to end with something broken, be it one of his bones or a structure or wall (just read his extended psychological profile and you’ll see, lmao) - Smoke: Boxing, it helps him focus all his chaotic energy. And chemistry in general, it’s not just a hobby but a passion of his. - Mute: he enjoys tinkering with stuff, taking it apart and then putting it back together in a different way, just to see if he can improve it or make it work in his own way. Flying drones plays perfectly into that, with the added bonus of being able to do the flying part just for fun too.
GIGN
- Montagne: His main passion is working with people, teaching and mentoring others, and therefore when he’s not on duty, his main passtime still is mingling with people and getting to know them. I could see him making overtures with Castle, interested in the American and fascinated by his knowledge of various languages, an area Monty feels insecure about due to only knowing French and English.  - Twitch: Engineering, robotics and developing an empathic AI is her life.Twitch is a workaholic passionate about those topics. She also greatly enjoys traveling and, according to her expanded bio, people watching.  - Doc: He surely had some hobby at one point, but he can’t remember it, or the last time he had free time for it. Doc is also a workaholic, although one that loves to complain about it.  - Rook: Apparently he’s passionate about cycling, auto racing, and rock concerts. Mainly cycling though, since he dropped out of university to cycle around France.
Spetsnaz
- Tachanka: He collects and repairs old weapons. Mostly soviet, but he has some interesting pieces from other countries too. And he dances surprisingly well.  - Kapkan: Aside from a certain interest in psychology, his main hobby is hunting, of course. But he also whittles and carves wooden figurines.  - Glaz: Quite obviously, painting. He’s an artist, and quite a good one. He also likes playing cards, especially poker. - Fuze: He builds new weapon prototypes for fun. And tests them, if he can convince Six of it. He also likes to bake from time to time, a skill he learnt thanks to his grandma - and because he has a sweet tooth.
GSG9
- Jäger: Planes. Model planes, repairing old WWI & II planes, you name it. And watching copious amounts of documentaries.  - Bandit: His bike is his main hobby, both taking care of it and riding it. He also likes playing pool; and, if pranking people counts as a hobby, that’s his oldest one, dating from when he was a kid. - Blitz: He was and still is an athlete at heart, and Blitz loves running. - IQ: In order to disconnect from engineering pursuits, she indulges in rock climbing, spelunking, and writing science fiction stories.
JTF2
- Buck: He crafts mechanical puzzles, and enjoys all kinds of physical activity that can take place outdoors. - Frost: She just loves being surrounded by nature, and often goes mountain climbing or diving.
SEAL
- Valkyrie: Swimming and diving, of course! She wanted to be a professional swimmer, but now it’s just a hobby. And apparently she enrolled for a helicopter pilot license, and language classes. - Blackbeard: According to the expanded bios, he likes sailing and even participated in a championship. And since he climbed Mount Everest, it’s safe to say he also likes mountain climbing.
BOPE
- Capitao: He loves football, playing or watching it, doesn’t matter, he’s all for it. - Caveira: Spends a lot of time practicing Jiu Jitsu, in the gym and also on unofficial tournaments.
SAT
- Hibana: For her it’s traditional Japanese archery (Kyūdō). And probably demolition derbies too accounting that concept art from before with Thermite and Pulse. - Echo: According to the expanded bio, he has few interests outside work, but I always imagined he’d be into gaming and e-sports. Hacking too, and that’s a direct influence from Dokkaebi.
GEO
- Jackal: He plays the acoustic guitar/spanish guitar, and sings too. And now we also know he volunteers with at-risk youth. - Mira: Fixing cars is second nature to her, and thanks to her expanded bio we know she also does metal sculptures that incorporate used mechanical parts.
SDU
- Ying: Extreme driving, which can sometimes trigger her PTSD, and traveling. Especially exploring cities by randomly jumping in public transport and just going anywhere. - Lesion: He is also one to volunteer in underprivileged areas (like Junk Bay, where he grew up), and clearing mines and other unexploded devices. I also imagine him with a certain gusto for playing blackjack.
GROM
- Zofia: If obsessing about her father’s supposed suicide and the oddities surrounding it, and desperately trying to reconnect with her sister count as hobbies, sure, she has those. - Ela: She’s also an artist, one with a very particular vision that some have called narcissistic. Apparently she also does some “freelance” volunteer work, roaming the streets at night and offering help/comfort, or a willing ear to the people she meets.
707SMB
- Vigil: He likes to take walks around the forest, just aimless exploring and marvelling at nature and any animals he might come across. Often listens to relaxing music while doing so, and he might pick a pretty rock here and there to bring home. - Dokkaebi: Hacking is her hobby, of course. She also has several social media profiles and is an active member in a couple of hacking forums. As per a previous battlepass, I believe she enjoys mountain trekking too. And dancing to electro beat, due to her elite.
CBRN
- Lion: His rebel years left him with an appreciation for rock music and a dream to be in a group. Lion still plays the electric guitar, when he’s not off volunteering at the local church. - Finka: Pushed by her parents from a young age to try different sports, just like her siblings, she eventually discovered a strong love for fencing and ice-skating.
GIS
- Maestro: Cooking, and boxing, an interest he shares with Smoke. But mostly cooking. - Alibi: She’s also a marksman, engages Ash in friendly shooting competitions.
GSUTR
- Clash: She’s very involved in different activist causes, mostly surrounding racial issues and inequality. - Maverick: Photography, mostly nature or candid shots of his fellow operators. I also think he likes horses and riding. And Buzkashi of course, but he hasn’t played since he left Kabul.
GIGR
- Kaid: Playing chess, he’s a good strategist and it shows. And  while dozing off with a cat on his lap is not a hobby, he also loves that. - Nomad: Traveling to all sorts of remote locations, she’s an explorer with a thirst to prove herself. She also keeps a travel journal, which includes maps and some drawings of the places she’s seen.
SASR
- Mozzie: Dirt biking, of course. The more dangerous the jumps and stunts are, the more he likes it. He knows his limits and works to surpass them. - Gridlock: Robotics. She still wants to compete again in robot championships, just like she and Mozzie did so many years ago. She would consider that fixing cars and vehicles has become more part of her job than a hobby, but still loves it too.
Phantom Sight
- Nokk: Fencing, as evidenced by some of her concept art, she participated in fencing tournaments. - Warden: He knows appearances are important, and he cultivated a very specific image, so he likes to take care of that, be it by buying luxury or antique cars, or designer suits, etc.
Ember Rise
- Amaru: Archeology and exploring the Amazon jungle is her passion. It used to be her whole life and job, but since she joined Rainbow, she’s been busy with training and missions, yet she never lost her love for adventure, history and protecting her country’s cultural artifacts. - Goyo: He’s a really good chess player, and enjoys other games where he either has to think, or his usual poker face and calm demeanor can throw his opponents off.
Shifting Tides
- Kali: When she’s not writing reports about her underlings progress, or making lists about who should be ascended/rewarded, who needs to be punished or chastised, etc, she’ll be doing yoga, since it helps her focus. Or hardcore pilates when she needs to burn away some frustration first. - Wamai: Diving and being underwater in general, be it on his special immersion tanks or on the actual sea, it doesn’t matter. He finds it calming (and he’s addicted to the anoxia sensation)
Void Edge
- Iana: Space exploration fascinates her, and she’s always trying to learn everything she can about the cosmos, watching documentaries and conducting her own in-depth research. - Oryx: Wrestling helps him hone his physical prowess, and it’s also a measured outlet for his deep seated rage. He also greatly enjoys reading poetry.
Steel Wave
- Melusi: She’s committed to the conservation cause, which stems from both her love of wildlife and nature, and her protective instincts. She likes to explore too, although she’s not driven by a will to prove herself or reach certain goals, but simply for the joy of seeing natural spaces. - Ace: Social Media. He’s obsessed with his public image and popularity. While he travels quite a bit, it seems he does it more to share new and exciting selfies on Instagram than for the pleasure of visiting new places.
Shadow Legacy
- Zero: He knits and crochets, it’s an engaging hobby that helps him clear his mind, plus he enjoys making stuff too. Not many people know about this side of him though.
Neon Dawn
- Aruni: She and Hero, her giant pouched rat, volunteer on landmine detection and removal efforts. She also likes to travel extensively, and has done so in the company of Twitch and Nomad.

Note
for your ocs that are parents, who is most likely to freak out when they lose sight of their babies? (also hope you are doing well!)
Thanks! Mentally I’m not the best but asks like these let me think about funny stuff with OC’s so they make me feel a little better! Again I’ll just write a few for each of the randoms I’m in. I won’t be limiting this to OC’s as in MHA I have a few cannon x OC ships
Zoophobia:
-Zill and Kayla where both pretty paranoid parents. Zillia and Danial both inherited Zill’s powers, they where both already cautious when their kids where born so when their abilities kicked in things went from 0 to 100. Zillia as a child was very very good at climbing up things, but not so much when it came to climbing down. Zill spent most of his time rescuing Zillia from trees she’d gotten stuck in.
-Carrie didn’t take comments on caring for kids all that seriously, she’d raised a hell horse, how hard could one kid be?? Oh ho how wrong she was. When Carrie eventually adopted Cooper it was a real kick in the gut, she didn’t worry per say all the time but she did have her scares when she’d turn her back for all of three seconds, and then Cooper was gone
-Camilla and Snake. Camilla was the more fretting parent, more so when Coal came into the picture. Raising one littel boy was hard enough, now she had another little boy - ontop of that being a vampire - to raise. Things got pretty chaotic in the house. Thankfully Snake was a more strict parent and was able to get Basil and Coal to calm down quickly
Hazbin Hotel:
-Baxter was a nervous first time dad. Nifty was way more chill but Baxter was trying to baby proof like, everything. Like with Carrie having a kid was a real kick in the gut, all of a sudden he couldn’t have his dangerous lab equipment just laying around, he couldn’t let angel leave any weapons or let Alastor leave any voo-doo stuff laying about. Baxter eventually chills out but it took a lot of reassurance from Nifty
-Vaggie is naturally protective of friends, so that amped up when Iridescence was born. It didn’t help that she though Angel was a still very irresponsible, so despite the two not being married Vaggie did most of the actual parenting while Angel took the role of the fun loving father. Vaggie decided once day enough was enough and took Angel aside to slap some sense into him. It was a long process and Angel was bad at first, but soon enough the two are getting along and are raising Iridescence together
-Charlie. Giant. Fretting. Hen. The kind of mum to freak out when her kids have wondered off without her or are out longer then she said they could be. In my NGAU Charlie is a bit more mature and knowledgeable in that Hell is..well, Hell. She isn’t all sunshine happiness and rainbows like she is in the pilot, she’s matured and understands some people just sadly don’t want to change. She tries to be a fair mum and let Brinda and Junior have their freedom while also keeping them on a sharp leash for their own safety
Helluva boss:
-Only got Millie x Mooxie for now, maaay do a Vortex x Loona kiddo but don’t know yet. Moxxie. No questions asked. He is the worrying yet loving dad. In my NGAU I headcannon Mooxie can’t have kids, hence why he ends up being so dotting to ones he meets. Crash and Dash are either going to be adopted, or they get a donor. Crash and Dash are such asshats that do the most craziest stuff, Moxxie might have had a heart attack once or twice when the two first tried out skateboarding. Millie encourages Moxxie that they’re fine (and then reassured Moxxie again that they weren’t going to die from a small itty bitty scratch). Crash and Dash being their first kids Moxxie was naturally paranoid so obvs went a bit overboard at times, he chilled out a bit when they adopted Lucy, and is also thankful Lucy is a way more calm child then Crash and Dash
MHA:
-Erasermic: Alright hear me out. Aizawa is the more worrying parent. Like- this man’s gotta deal with a class of twenty something problem children, Shinsou, Eri and Mic (in my NGAU he and Mic adopt Shinsou and Eri, and Aizawa more often then not has to parent Mic to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid). This man worries, but is very good at hiding it. Mic and Aizawa have Joke labour their daughter, Kiku tended to wonder a bit when she was younger - mostly cuz she would see a cat and follow it not realizing she wondered out of her parents sight. Aizawa goes to look down to see if she’s still with him, child's gone, BOOM: Panic! With what Aizawa’s seen (with the USJ incident, training camp incident, rescuing Eri, and just everything else that’s happening in MHA right now) Aizawa knows the dangers of the world so he comes off as a biiit overprotective. Even when Kiku is 13 (her current age in my NGAU) Aizawa still watches over her to make sure she’s safe. He becomes less stressed by training with her, knowing she can defend herself if needed eases his worries a little
-Edgeshot x Ryukyu: Both are chill parents, Based on @erosspace headcannons Edgeshot lives far off from the city for privacy reasons. He and Ryukyu like the peace. Kakusu grew up very safe as a child and didn’t wonder off at all, generally a well behaved kid. However the day his quirk kicked in was the day his parents got a real fright. Kakusu’s quirk is camouflage, and when it first activated he unintentionally disappeared from his parents sight. He was meditating in the garden and because he was calm and relaxed his quirk activated for the first time, his parents turned the house upside down and where just about to call the police, when they searched outside and saw Kakusu. Kakusu’s quirk only works on his skin, so if he activates his clothes while dressed in normal clothes his clothes will give away where he is because they aren’t affected by his quirk. When Kakusu started to use his camouflage quirk to hide from taking a bath Edgeshot and Ryukyu made him wear an ankle bracelet with bells on it so they could always tell where he was
-Ectoloader: I am a firm believer that Powerloader worries a lot. He has to deal with Hatsume exploding his lab on a daily basis, this man probably developed some secret power to know when something bad is gonna happen so he is just prepared for anything. I also headcannon he knew Ectoplasm in his school days and was a huge supportive figure for Ecto when he lost his legs, so that event has also lead to him becoming very worried if family or friends get injured. Haiya is a hyperactive child 90% of the time, if he isn’t running around he’s sleeping or doing school work, theres no in-between. Ectoplasm is a stern yet chill parent, he put down the rules when needed but he still lets Haiya have fun. Powerloader tends to be a bit stricter with rules and can sometimes come off an harsh without realising, he’s so used to having to yell at Hatsume just to knock some sense into her that sometimes he can get carried away

Mellz plays KH Re:CoM, Reverse/Rebirth (Riku’s Campaign) part 3
Check out parts [1] and [2] if you haven’t seen them yet. Part 1 also has a link to Sora’s campaign
Below the Read More is the endgame and my final thoughts
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Riku is met with Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, yet again, who still can't fathom why Riku's resisting his advances. Close your damn jacket!
Final battle! I lost twice? I think? Not many times but I think it was 2. But god damn not as many times as I lost to Repliku. That sucked. I don’t get mad about dying multiple times in a final boss, that’s kind of the point of final bosses...
Ansem has a great voice btw, like if there’s gonna be a voice for G-Dorf in Breath of the Wild 2, I want Richard Epcar or Dave Boat (Lexaeus) to voice him. I doubt it’ll happen but those are my picks!
This guy sure does talk a lot for someone who's supposed to be dying.
Tumblr media
Ansem explodes in a thick fog of darkness that envelopes Riku and Mickey comes to the rescue. Technically Riku won so he’s allowed to relish in his victoy AS WELL AS be carried off my a floating mouse.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
IDK where the basement is supposed to exist here because the door Riku reaches the ground floor through is the same door Sora goes through to LEAVE the ground floor. Is it like a hill? Gotta go upstairs to go downstairs?
Idk. I wanna see the full interior of the castle, I want blueprints.
“What now Riku? You going home?” Your Majesty. Mickey, my dude. You can’t just GO HOME after killing a man. Riku’s got some shit to go through, he can’t return to a normal life after this. There is so much more tha nthis!
I’m glad a MOUSE can understand darkness is a thing that just exists, can coexist with the light. Good on him for keeping an open mind! It took how long for anyone to realize light and dark are two sides of the same coin? Twilight Princess was all about this. ...Riku is the twilight princess.
Mickey wants to follow Riku down his path of light and dark and they’re friends now. When did they get the time to bond between KH1 and CoM?
Tumblr media
How old is Mickey? He’s BFF’s with a teenager now, how old is he? I’m not saying child and adult friendships aren’t and shouldn’t be a thing, I may use Tumblr but I’m not THAT Tumblr. I’m just wondering what kind of grown-ass adult WANTS to be friends with a teenager lol. Mickey tells Riku, since they’re friends now Riku should call him my his name, rather than his title. So... No one else gets this talk? Donald? Goofy? No? OK.

I deadass expected Simple and Clean to start playing after a hard cut to black despite actually remembering the final confrontation with DiZ.
Riku and Mickey don the black coats DiZ presented earlier then they leave Castle Oblivion behind. The duo meets up with him at a crossroads and immediately Riku’s on the defense. I love Riku, he’s tired, he’s annoyed, he knows the world isn’t black and white, light and darkness, and the literal path he chooses reflects that. He’s accepting the darkness and using it to fight for his friends. I’m so proud of him. I wonder where these paths actually lead.
Tumblr media
THE SUN IS RISING I DIDN’T NOTICE THIS UNTIL EDITING THIS WHAT?KJVBLSDFKJVBDLJ
NOW Simple and Clean plays, albeit after a fade to black.
During the credits cinematics we see Riku and Mickey travelling through Hollow Bastion, the same location where the 1,000 Heartless battle in KH2 takes place if I recall correctly! That was cool to see. Riku is having a difficult time. Help him.
The next one we see Roxas again. He stops and looks at the Twilight Town gang when they pass him and Axel tries leading him away. I can only assume the following went down:
“I wanna try that”, Roxas says and gestures to the ice cream the aforementioned group was eating. So he and Axel buy some ice cream and go up the clock tower, Roxas seems to be enjoying himself but Axel doesn’t seem to like this treat at all. I think he just eats it now for Roxas’s sake, he pretends to like it to make him happy.
So I don’t know the timeline of this part of the game. Is Roxas not part of the organization yet at this point? Is Axel trying to recruit him? Is this after Roxas defects and is forgetting his time with them?
The third clip we see a very brief shot of Riku a few months later and he’s looking good. Doesn’t cut his hair.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Final clip, after the credits shows Roxas and at this point he’s either friends with Hayner, Pence, and Olette or they’re inviting him for the first time to hang out with them.
“Beyond the path without you is a forgotten promise to keep. We may have walked side by side, but now we go on back to back. And though our paths may not cross, all paths are connected somewhere. When I arrive at where you are, we may not appear to be as we were...”
……………………………………………………………………………………………
So, final thoughts of the game overall. I enjoy longish games but when the length is just padded out with such shallow worlds I get bored really easily. I like to explore the map but I can’t do that in this game. Riku’s campaign is very short in comparison to Sora’s, for better or worse. For someone who just REALLY, REALLY wanted to move onto KH2, this was welcome lol. Sora’s half put me to sleep and I had a hard time trudging through it. Not that the story wasn’t engaging enough for me, I just didn’t want to play.
Didn’t care for the card based battle here. I preferred the combat more in Riku’s half because card management wasn’t really a thing which I ended up growing to appreciate for Riku once I got used to it. All I had to do was level up and get an extra card if I felt like it. The duel system was really fun and made boss battles go quickly, when I actually took the time to INITIATE them. Most of my frustration was just me NOT doing what the game aggressively suggested. At least I admit when it’s me and not accuse the game of poor gameplay like a certain grumpy gamer but that’s none of my business. I think this game may have felt better on the Gameboy Advance, I wouldn’t know.
I wanted to cry. I missed these kids so much. I love them so much. I’m a god damn crybaby now so a lot of moments just ended me and sometimes I needed a moment to sob while I hug my cat.
The (original) characters.
I can feel bad for Vexen to a point, he was a bastard but he just ultimately just wanted to do sciency stuff. A lot of questionable science but whatever. He creeps me the hell out. I know he hated Marluxia but was he really willing to spill Marly’s plans to Sora JUST TO SPITE HIM? Or was he actually trying to help Sora? That might explain some things later on down the road...
Lexaeus was always boring so no comment.
Zexion is a cutie pie, I don’t know why I think this I guess it carried over from 10 years ago. I have a soft spot for him. And I didn’t post a single picture of him so here’s one.
Tumblr media
Axel, my favorite bastard. I will always love him. Chaotic neutral. He’s not much of an antagonist in this game, more of an obstacle, but he’s certainly working in favor of his own interests. I’ve been reading Inkheart and he reminds me of Dustfinger? Fire and all i guess.
Marluxia is also a bastard but as an antagonist I don’t dislike him. He mostly has his good looks to help him with that. I’m not sure why he wanted to overthrow the Organization but it got him dead so GG my dude. Not sure why Xehanort invited him and Larxene back.
Larxene.
Repliku. Brat, very much a brat. He immediately had beef with Sora because apparently it’s too unreasonable for Sora to “forget the quiet girl who moved away” when you were four and five years old. I could barely remember this game let alone any memories from when I was 4. I would have liked to see him interact with Riku during the time he thought he himself (Repliku) was the real one. Imagine the DRAMA. I do feel bad for him, his struggles with his identity and his jealousy towards Riku. I love how he is with Namine, so soft spoken and gentle. But we all know that’s based on false memories which is so sad. But like Sora said, the memories might be fake but the feelings are real.
Namine is a very good girl, a victim, a child who, when given the courage to, will stand up against her captor to protect her friends. She’s very sweet and smells like Kairi! (Riku, that’s weird) She’s brave as hell and I stan her. She just wanted a friend.
Sora... He’s so pure, so wholesome. He’ll do whatever it takes to save his friends. He had a little moment of weakness and cast Donald and Goofy aside but he got better pretty quickly. He was willing to give Repliku a chance despite their interactions being negative. He forgave Namine, knowing she had no choice but to do what she was forced to do. Sora. Just Sora. Love him.
Riku. I couldn’t stand him in the first game, he was just a punk-ass teenager (which makes me wonder why he and Sora were ever friends in the first place) with a super inflated ego who just, kinda does a 180 after you beat Ransem and is good? But my god. I just fell in love with this precious bean in Re:CoM. I remember the best of Riku from KH2 (let’s pretend KH3 doesn't exist for a second here because that is in my opinion the BEST Riku) and it was so welcoming and CoM really bridged the developmental gap between 1 and 2. It’s nice to see him struggle with this darkness and then learn to utilize it in a safe manner. We see a lot of vulnerability from him too, when he’s being constantly mocked by Ansem and the few embers of Org13 he meets here, his own doppelganger touting how much better he is, not having his one form of support physically be there on the majority of his journey. Riku’s super snarky throughout the game overall though and I love that. He’s the complete opposite of Sora at this time and he’s absolutely done with everyone’s bullshit.
Ansem is really persistent. He’s the guy who just can’t take a hint, I can’t imagine his dating life is very successful. I don’t like him but I don’t hate him either. He definitely makes more of an impact as a bad guy in this game, frequently showing up to harass Riku. Obligatory mentioning my mistake in saying that HE was guiding Riku in the beginning of the game when it was actually DiZ.
DiZ is formally introduced in this game and he’s cryptic as shit. I dig his design but what the hell made Ansem the Wise take this form? With all those bandages he looks like a burn victim (I haven’t played BbS if this is what happened Im sorry) but the call of fashion still rings in his ears. Why belts on his head though? That was this series aesthetic until KH3 pushed plaid. Anyway he is also a character I don't have any particular feelings towards

I think I’m going to take a break from KH for a bit. I got the Spyro Reignited Trilogy the other day for XBOne, so I’ll be playing that. I’ve never played Spyro before, I hope I like it!

WILDCARD: Mysmes as gbf units (what element, what weapon they'd use, what race they'd be and so on)
*rubs hands together* I was MADE for this
Zen: Light element- I’m kinda gonna base this on his outfit for when he played Zorro. He’d be kind of mysterious but over-dramatic- he’d introduce himself as an aspiring actor, flirt with Danchou for a bit and be all ‘hehe obviously the god’s regret making me this handsome’. He has a rapier on his side and Vyrn roasts him literally every second like ‘yo dodo bird do you even fight bro????’ and Zen gets SO offended. His fate episode has him basically chatting your ear off and you’re like ‘why is he even in my crew-he’s as chaotic as Aoidos???’ But as you level him up he is the sweetest thing ever and his v-day+ white day cutscenes would be the absolute cutest things ever!!! He’d be so suave you’d have a heart attack!!
Rarity: I’d go off on a limb here and say maybe r or Sr, since he’s the “easy” route, he’d prolly be one of the easiest to get. I’d also say he’d be a fan favorite real quick, so he gets an sr summer skin and sr event character, maybe an outfit or two as well.
Skills: Based on his personality, I think he’d be one that can charm enemies with a cheesy skill name like ‘dazzling skin’ or ‘blinding smile’. Also based on his rather hot-headed personality, he’d prolly be someone with ‘hostility-up’. I’d even say when you get him to level 45 and earn his last skill, he’d have a skill that heals or takes hits for you, the MC.
Weapon: Rapier, as said before. I think he’d call it ‘Zorro’ or something else that’s entirely stupid. When you summon his weapon, it’d be called ‘radiant rapier’.
Yoosung- Wind element. He’s an absolute cutie and would prolly be a hermit in the forest chatting it up with his animal buddies and you gotta drag his butt outside while he screams about the sun. His whole character arc is him getting utterly ROASTED by Vyrn and literally everyone because of how much of a NEET he is. Lyria and Danchou try to reintegrate him into society and trust people more. He starts off as ‘happy’ in his fate episode, gets melancholic in his skill episode, then becomes truly happy in a cross episode with another character.
Rarity: Sr. Unfortunately he’s not as popular as most, so he probably gets an event unit at most besides his original. I think he’d eventually be recognized as being a great character and may get a summon stone though.
Skills: I think he’d be a healer/buffer to the crew. So he’d be healing with a skill called “Superman Yoosung to the rescue!!” and then a buff for wind characters like “NERF THIS WIND LOLOL!!!” And then his last skill will be a really sentimental one like “I’ve become stronger now” and it places a defense shield on him and ally.
Weapon: Staff. He’s a healer, but his sprite has like a bird and deer somewhere. If you were to summon him, it’d be called “Staff of Life”.
Jaehee- Is a tired woman who you bump into because she’s busy trying to deal with Jumin’s shit. She apologizes quickly and Lyria is like “OMG BUT WE NEED TO HELP HER!!!!’ So her whole character arc is you helping her she should achieve her dreams and then suddenly she’s like ‘yeah LEMME QUIT AND START A CAFE!!!’ She becomes great friends with Sandalphon becuase they both bleed coffee and are done with everyone, but have a soft spot for the captain, and have massive crushes on their white haired besties (i mean whaaaaat).
Rarity: Sr. She gets an original, but a second sr version where she has finally achieved her dream. It’s a really cute closure to her character, and Jumin doesn’t act so OOC to fill a quota lol.
Skills: She’d be debuffer/ buffer extraordinaire. Cooldown times shorten, atk goes up, and she has a stackable skill ‘The faster you finish, the faster you can leave!!’ in which her hostility and atk goes up, her def goes down, and she HITS HARD!!!
Weapon: stack of papers Idk tbh, maybe a tome, but it’s referred to as a staff (call it a gd book jfc Cygames lol). She’d probably earth element and WILL BREAK THE EARTH IN HALF!!!!
Jumin- The rich, stoic prince of a kingdom you end up meeting on accident. He only joins you because you found Elizabeth the 3rd and he was very grateful. So imagine Percival on steroids and that’s Jumin as a GBF character. He’s quick to call bullshit, but every time Vyrn or Zen roasts him it flies over his head/he roasts them back a thousand times harder. His arc is him learning to trust his FEEELINSS!! Also becomes close with Dante and they both philosophically discuss cats like they’re their gods. His V-day and White Day cutscenes will be the EXACT SAME AS SIEGFRIED!! HE’S AWFUL ON V DAY BUT ON WHITE DAY HE’LL BE COMPLIMENTING YOU AND BEING HAWT BUT THEN HE’S LIKE ‘I RESPECT YOU’. DUMB IDIOT STILL DOESN’T KNOW FEELINGS!!
Rarity: SSR. He’s quickly become a fan favorite and has two ssr versions, his original and maybe a halloween/ christmas version, and then an anniversary skin where he’s wearing a dashing tux and it will say on the description, ‘Can you keep up with me’ or something safdsjgnfljsnjkn I’m dying CYGAMES MM COLLAB WHENST????
Skills: He’s a dark debuffer/ defensive character. He can hit hard but he is more focused on longer battles where survivability is more necessary than him nuking. He’d have a def down for enemies and it’s called ‘I get checks’ and a def up for all allies called ‘Ahh- to be with Elizabeth the 3rd again’
Weapon: A beautiful sword/ lance that is very pristine and glorious. It’s gonna have a diamond on it somewhere and it’s gonna be a reference to how his father gave him that pen.
Also!!! He gets a cross-fate episode with Zen where they both roast each other before actually talking out their feelings and working it out. I can also imagine an episode where he delves more into his distrust of women and why he focuses on his Elizabeth so much.
707- He’s so god damn chaotic you wonder WHY THE HELL IS HE EVEN ALLOWED??? Okay so you end up meeting him when Rackam is trying to fix the Grandcypher and homeboy shows up, suggests some ideas and him and Rackam go nutso over ships (this version of cars). He has a lot of inside jokes and is very memeable for a GBF character, becoming a notorious part of the April Fools event. His fate episodes start off happy before becoming depressing and you’re like wow why don’t you just run me over with a boat huh???
Rarity: SSR. Super popular and has like…five variants lol. I say he’d be a fire nuker all the time except for one ssr variant, in which it’s a dark version where it was a ‘what if he fell into despair?1!!!!???’ Super depressing story holy cow. He’s got an event sr in there, it’s pretty good. He’s prolly also got a summer, Christmas, or Halloween variant somewhere there. Of course, because of his popularity, he gets skin or two as well.
Weapon: I imagine him using a fire gun. Like imagine a better Rackam. It’d be called something like, “hacker’s resolve”.
Skills: Fire nuker. He’s horrible for long distance fights, but he focuses a lot on enmity, hype, and hostility up fights where he needs to hit hard and fast. For sure has a skill called, ‘I’m in’, and “Defender of Justice-707!!’ and after you complete the heart-wrenching skill ep. he gets his final skill called, “god forgive me”. It’s so depressing T-T
Also!! Has a cross-fate with both Yoosung and Unknown where they focus on family and growing past their own background.
Unknown- A very scary dude when you first meet him, who tries to kill you on sight. Lyria…does something and he’s like, ‘I need to get revenge so I’ll stick with you if you let me kill people’. His episodes start off VERY dark and disturbing, but gradually get happier as he becomes more acquainted with the MC. I’d say he’s basically like Azazel where he’s so tsundere about everything and you’re ‘okay brooooo’. His valentines day cutscenes would be absolutely hilarious as he’s like ‘ew why would I take anything you make’ to ‘i dreamt of eating your chocolate again’. His white day scenes would be SOOOOOO worth it tho, he gets you a bouquet of flowers with special meaning and is blushing and tells you to take it before he freaks out.
Rarity: Originally a water sr, but then got a wind SSR version that represents him growing and becoming ‘Saeran’ again. It’s a super amazing growth that makes everyone weep when they!! see!! the!! baby!! smile!! He prolly has  a Halloween version where he dresses as the phantom again.
Weapon: Firearms. Tons of guns and explosions.
Skills: He’s an attacker/debuffer. He can hit hard like his brother but can ACTUALLY TAKE A HIT AND NOT DIE!!! I can imagine he’d have a self heal skill called ‘mint eye elixir’ where he drinks a potion and heals, but if you do it too much he eventually can be knocked out or raise his atk a lot but get killed by getting slapped too hard. He’d have tons of debuffs where he blinds and confuses foes, and his last skill would be called ‘unraveled chains’ where he boosts his atk and def. His SSR version would be a lot different and more focused on buffing everyone up, and he’s so good at it. They’re mostly related to flowers and how he’s grown and changed as a person, and how he finally reached happiness.
V- He is a blind wizard. That’s it. That’s literally how you meet him you go ‘lol there’s no such thing as a-’ and V saves your ass from getting run over by a cart or something. You beg him to join and he’s like ‘well of course I’ll help you wonderful children!!!’ His v-day and white day scenes are absolutely heartbreaking yet so emotional because he talks about his past with Rika yet says how he can finally ‘see’ the light since joining you. His story IS SAD!! SAD!! SAD BOI HOURS AT ALL TIMES!!! A BLIND MAN IS CRYING OVER HOW HIS SINS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO WASHED AWAY AND HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET A SECOND CHANCE AND!!! SO SAD!!
Rarity: Water SSR plus a dark sr from an event where he’s in his mint eye clothes. Gets a Halloween skin where he’s dressed as a detective trying to find his happiness and will to live.
Skills: Self-sacrificing skills that buff everyone up. It’s so sad because he’s so good at buffing everyone and making everyone a tank but you just… dude you wanna talk about it?? Do you want a healer omg man, I’m so sorry.
Weapon: Blind wizard. He uses a staff, which doubles as his walking staff.

OMG OMG OMG So someone sent me a fan written piece of my girl Luna!!! I'm dying and I am so in love with it. They aren't on FA so can't credit them But thank you so much Andrew! Art is done by NightTwilightWolf Starmuttani This Of All things
A child sat alone by the roadside, face smeared in grime and blood, as they watched the flickering flame-light dance off of the twisted metal that was once their family sedan. Sirens blared but the child did not hear them. Paramedics and fire and rescue crewmen scurried around the wreck like ants whose pheromone path had just been thoughtlessly trod upon. The child watched them, too. “Grandma, what is going on?” the child asked. A gentle voice beside them cooed. “They are doing their best, child. There are still people stuck in the wreckage.” “Are those people going to be okay?” “Yes, child. The workers you see are very good at their jobs. Nobody else is going to die today.” The child smiled a little. They had been on a drive with their parents who had decided to go on an impromptu picnic at a nearby park for the first time in forever. The child loved the park very much; watching people walking their dogs or skipping stones across the pond on the park’s edge. Even simply feeling the gentle kiss of the breeze on their skin as they dozed off in their parent’s arms under a shady tree would have been enough to make a memory they would not soon forget. All of that was just what could have been, now. The car crash had seen to that. This too would be a memory not soon forgotten. A moment’s lapse of concentration would leave a lifetime of scars on a number of people. The child and their parents, the other driver and the pedestrian unlucky enough to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Only one soul had experienced the misfortune of passing, though. This left the child with only one question. The child turned to face the gentle voice beside them. “Why is this happening grandma? I don’t understand.” There was a moment’s pause as owner of the voice searched for the words. “The world is a kind and gentle place, child, but it can also be random and cruel. I cannot tell you why this is but I can show you. Close your eyes and let me take you away from this place.” Once the voice had gone silent, the child did as instructed and closed their eyes. Nothing happened at first but soon a haze descended upon their mind. Through it shined light and colour, the likes of which they had only ever seen in dreams. It gripped them, softly caressing their mind and lulling their body to rest. The child’s limbs grew heavy and their breathing even and slow. Everything around them seemed dull and unmoving as if it were submerged in molasses. They felt as if they could fall asleep at any second if it were not for an uncomfortable feeling that brushed against their mind. Though the child could not see it, they felt a presence not too far away. It was not an evil presence, or at least what they understood to be evil, but rather a dark one that sent a shiver up their spine. “Worry not, child. No harm will come to you,” the voice said. The kind words eased the child’s mind. The presence was still there but the child was also not alone. They were protected. They were safe. Moments passed as seconds until finally, the child fell asleep. Through the haze of dreams, the child saw their home. It was exactly as they remembered it when they had left in the morning. Birds chirped in the flowering tree in the front yard and the neighbour’s cat, a fat and greedy ginger tom, mewed softly at the front door, begging whoever was home for treats. The front door opened and familiar voices burst forth. It was the child’s parents’ voices, only they weren’t the gentle, caring voices that the child knew. Words edged in vehement acid and sadness cut through the air and the child felt a uniquely profound sadness that they had never felt before. They were arguing about something and neither was willing to concede an inch. What the argument was about didn’t matter, nor did who was right and who was wrong. Sharp words that were better left unsaid were uttered and old wounds had long since scabbed over were tore open. The child wanted to cry and they wanted to scream for their parents to stop but they couldn’t. “Grandma! Why are you showing this to me?” the child called out. The gentle voice remained silent but the images froze in time. The child’s parents were in the doorway with ugly expressions to mirror ugly feelings upon their faces. Slowly, they started to melt away like sand through an hourglass, leaving the child alone in the haze of dreams once more with nothing but their newfound sadness. The child wept and sobbed, their tears floating like waterbound diamonds through the ethereal haze. Time passed, though the child didn’t feel it. The only way the child could be sure that time had indeed passed was that something else happened. Somewhere, a phone rang. It rang and rang but nobody picked it up. After it stopped, the answering machine beeped. After the tone, a tinny-sounding voice spoke. “Hi… honey,” it said with a forced kind of pleasantness. It was the child’s father. The voicemail went on, “I just wanted you to listen to something. I don’t need to have an answer right away. I want to let them have one last happy memory before… well, I’m in talks with my lawyer and I would hope you are doing the same. Anyway, I want to go on one last picnic. The three of us. We can make sandwiches and skip stones across the lake and for just one day pretend that nothing is wrong.” The child couldn’t believe what they were hearing. How long had this been going on and what else had their parents been hiding from them? “I think we both know what’s going on but I don’t want our problems to ruin our child’s life. Like I said before, I don’t need an answer right away. Just… if you can do this for them I’ve resolved not to blame you anymore. I’m through acting like a spoilt child. Anyway, my lawyer just got back from his lunch so I guess I will see you at home.” The child sat, gobsmacked. Feelings that they couldn’t name or even describe welled up inside of them and overflowed, spilling ugly colour throughout the haze of dreams like a squid expelling ink. Chaotic images started to take shape, forming sneers and twisted, mocking faces. “Why didn’t they tell me?” the child thought. “Is it because it’s my fault?” “Be at peace, child,” a familiar voice said soothingly, dispelling the faces and returning the haze of dreams into its original state. “Grandma?” “Do not fret. There is nothing you can or could have done. Your parents only kept this from you because they love you. They wanted to protect you from the ugly sides of themselves.” “But I don’t understand!” “I said that I would show you that the world can be a cruel place but also that it is a kind and gentle one. What can you say about your parents now that you have seen this?” “That…” the child trailed. “That?” Swallowing the lump that had formed in their throat, the child went on. “That even though it was making them both suffer so much, they still put me first. They wanted to protect me.” “Good. And what does that say about them?” The fresh memory of angry faces and harsh words flashed through the child’s mind but it didn’t change their response. “That even if they don’t love each other anymore, they still love me.” “Yes. Very good, child.” The voice sounded satisfied, in a way. “Now, let us continue onwards.” The haze of dreams shifted and began to move once again, coalescing at the child’s feet and forming a small lake that shone like a mirror. The child gazed into the mirror lake and saw an unfamiliar room. There was a bed with a woman laying in it and a lot of odd-looking equipment and devices with screens and displays that beeped and hummed. Many of the devices were attached to the woman, who stirred when a door was opened and a doctor stepped inside. “Hello, doctor,” said the woman weakly. “Hello,” the doctor replied. “How are you feeling?” The woman creased her lips into a thin smile. “I would be lying if I said I was feeling fine but I can manage. When do you think I’ll be able to go home?” The doctor said nothing for a moment, instead taking a deep breath. “I regret having to be the one to inform you of this but I believe it will be safer for you if you remain here. I know it is your wish to have the delivery in your own home but at this point I simply cannot allow it as your doctor.” “Oh,” the woman said dejectedly. “I know nothing is wrong now but given your medical history, I think it is safest if we keep you here under observation.” “Is that so…” The child took pause for a moment. They had no idea what was going on but they had never seen someone looked so crushed before. Without realising it, the child had leaned in closer and closer until their nose tickled the edge of the mirrored pool, sending ripples out and across its surface. Even though they were only watching from a dream, it was the child’s genuine hope that the woman could go home and do whatever it was she wanted to do. As the ripples reached the edges of the pool and started to make their way back, a shocked expression crossed the woman’s face for an instant before all of her colour drained away. “Doctor, I think my water just broke,” she whispered almost distantly. The doctor immediately sprung into action, calling for nurses and things to be brought to the room. “Don’t worry, ma’am,” the doctor said hurriedly. “Just breathe. An orderly has just called your husband and he said that he would be here soon.” Just as the image in the mirror lake began to disappear, the child heard a pained moan. Based on the voice, it came from the woman. Calling out into the darkness, the child asked, “Grandma, what was happening to that poor woman?” The voice returned as if it had been there all along. As far as the child could tell, it had been. “That woman is bringing a new life into the world.” “You mean she is having a baby?” “Yes, child. Her loved one promised that he would get there as fast as he could when it was time for the baby to be born.” “Oh,” the child said. “That is great and all but I don’t understand why you wanted to show me this.” “Remember that the world can be random and cruel, child. This woman’s husband was the man driving the car that struck yours.” Suddenly, the child did not feel so good. They felt dizzy and faint and their world began to spin. “That’s so s...” the began but couldn’t find the strength to finish. The world fell away and everything that had been was suddenly replaced with pain. “Sad,” the child said, barely above a whisper from bleeding lips. The dream had ended and now the child found themselves in reality once more. A reality that they had only just now become able to comprehend. “Grand… ma?” the child uttered, pausing to fill their now shallow lungs between each syllable. “Yes, child?” Talking had suddenly become much harder but the child tried their best. “You’re not really... my grandma… are you?” “No, child. My name is Luna and I am a spirit of the afterlife. I am here to take you away.” Through swollen eyelids, the child saw a magnificent fox with many tails and whose fur was the as the sky at twilight on the roadside where the child had sat earlier or, at least, the place where Luna had shown them to be. It was a beautiful, gentle-looking creature, befitting of its kind voice and demeanor. “I don’t... blame the other driver... or my parents for the crash.” “Good, child,” Luna said. “It is nobody’s fault, really. It is just an unfortunate accident.” The voice had become distant and difficult to make out, like it coming from another room. The pain that wracked the child’s body too was becoming dull now. “I guess I’m... just unlucky…” “Yes, child. You have been most unfortunate but this could have happened to anyone at any time. It is my sole wish that you do not pass from this world, hating it and the people who yet live in it. Even though the world is random and cruel, it is still a kind and gentle place.” “I see that now,” the child replied. Strangely, speaking had become much easier and it felt as if a great weight had been lifted from their little shoulders. The child heard cries from outside belonging to their parents as well as the sound of some kind of tool chewing its way through the burnt out husk that used to be their family sedan. They would never make it in time, the child knew, because it was already too late. The paramedics, bless their souls, would try. They would always try but sometimes all the effort in the world cannot stop the inevitable. “Worry not, child. Another spirit shall be here soon to collect you and take you to a place where suffering does not exist. Her name is December. Promise me to greet her properly.” “Okay,” said the child. “I promise.” Luna, the magnificent fox then vanished from view and the world began to shift out of focus. Gone was the car and the paramedics and rescue crew. Gone were the child’s parent and the dazed and confused looking man who was soon to be a father. It was sad that they had to leave the world so soon after entering it but the child felt at peace. It wasn’t as if they would never see their parents or loved ones again. It was simply not their time.

Speaking at a panel at the London Film and Comic-Con today, the 41-year-old said that there could only be one character his detective could be coupled with in the BBC hit series.“Now, there’s only one choice, isn’t there? Come on,” he told the audience of fans, before jokingly adding: “Doctor Watson.” He continued on a more serious note, explaining: “I think it would have to be Molly, wouldn’t it? Love for him, after all, would be thinking more - maybe that’s asking too much - maybe thinking as much of someone else as he thinks of himself.”
Headcanon Times:
I know everyone, including the actors, have their opinions about the characters but this is one where I fully, fully agree with Ben.  I want to be clear, I don’t watch Sherlock for romance - though romance, in the broader sense, is integral within the series as a whole.  It is heightened and artistic and deep and exciting and adventurous and funny and witty and terrifying and, yes, heartbreakingly romantic, too.
<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->
I had always viewed Irene as Sherlock’s first real exposure to love.  I think there was an immediate attraction and, possibly (without knowing a thing of his history and only going on what the series implied) his first physical experience as well.  I’m very much in the camp that believes he and Irene had a physical encounter after he rescued her from being executed.  I think he pined after her for many years but I also find it telling that he rarely engaged her no matter how often she texted him.  I think he didn’t know what to do with his emotions regarding her and, as has been his method regarding strong emotions, he set them to the side rather than face them head on.  “You didn't win, you lost. Look what you did to her. Look what you did to yourself, all those complicated little emotions, I lost count. Emotional context, it destroys you, every time.”
If the man Sherlock has become is his memory of Eurus then it’s no wonder than his view on emotions would be skewed towards seeing them as a crutch rather than a strength.  His connections with people were severely damaged between his two siblings - Eurus for her own inability to healthily relate to others plus, you know, murdering his best friend - and Mycroft, for keeping that truth hidden and for teaching Sherlock that human connection is something to despise.  At least Mycroft has begun to see how badly he’d wronged his brother, in that regard.
When he met Irene, he’d already begun opening himself up to humanity again.  John was a healer beyond his abilities as a doctor.  He was crucial to pulling Sherlock back from the edge -possibly - just in time.  It’s terrifying to imagine what would have happened to Sherlock had John not entered his life when he did.  Because of John’s influence and heart, Sherlock’s emotional walls developed a significant crack.  So, that, by the time he’d met Irene, he was already in a place where he could be blindsided by the power of these newly reborn feelings.  I think there’s even room to speculate that Sherlock’s emotions towards Irene were so incredibly powerful BECAUSE he hadn’t had much practice with them, yet.  To use the familiar cliche it was like gaining sight where once he’d been blind.  He was overwhelmed and, as much as Sherlock could be, nearly sick with his infatuation. (bear in mind, still, this is speculation.  Sherlock has always maintained an outer cool for a good portion of the series and there are very few times he’s shown his chaotic feelings - but we’ll get to that...).
We know Molly, by this point, has had an ongoing crush on him and it is implied, based on his response to her, that Christmas, that he possibly wasn’t truly aware of that.  Or, at least, not the depth of it - given his shock at reading her card.  It makes me wonder, then, what, if any, real experience he’s had with attention from someone who views him in a sexual way.  Obviously, with John’s blog making him a celebrity, that would have begun to change quite quickly - not that Sherlock has ever had the desire for such distractions (that he’d have felt desire, in and of itself, is another matter entirely.  Ben has stated that he did not view Sherlock as cut off from things such as arousal - but that he’d have repressed them in order to put all of his energies into the Work). When he’d believed Irene to be dead, he came very close to using again - or, possibly, something even worse.  There isn’t time to explore what he may actually have done because she revealed herself soon afterwards.  It is clear, though, that his care for her developed very fast.  He’d met her just one time - was outsmarted by her - drugged by her - and then began receiving repeated suggestive texts from her.  And, shortly thereafter, he composed an incredibly moving and emotional sonnet for her.  Even Ben isn’t certain whether what Sherlock felt was more love or more lust.  I don’t know that it is always one or the other as so often those things are intertwined - though possibly weighted more heavily on the physical.  In any event, without delving too far into Irene’s relationship, it feels as though they have little to build on, between them, beyond the physical.  They play cat and mouse.  They have a game of outwitting one another.  But beyond wordplay and the occasional whip...  Irene would never be a true partner.  She has a life she loves and a career that, by its nature, does not mesh with the sort of partnership needed between a man and wife (not that I think she’d ever want something as domestic as that).  On top of all of that, she already has a steady female partner that she obviously loves and Sherlock is an aberration for her.  He’s a temporary delight but I cannot see any scenario where she’d want to be at his side, through ups and downs, falling off the wagon, getting lost in his work, family dramas... Well, point in fact, she never was.
So, now to the part of this musing that I’ve been building towards.
I gave myself a series of questions and I’ve spent a few weeks, actually, thinking about them.  Faithful characterization is really important to me.  I want to see the honesty of how a character is represented without overlaying intent just because I WANT to see it.  (to be clear, this is not a comment on fanfiction or various pairings or anything of the sort.  This is me trying to parse the authentic character, based on what I've interpreted on screen, for my own creative process).
Sherlock's relationship with John is a powerful friendship that has laid the groundwork towards developing his emotional balance. While he will always be a bit of an arse – suspicious of overt emotional displays – in short, he'll be himself – he has also warmed up in ways that would not have come about otherwise.
Molly is the first person that Sherlock, at least on screen, apologizes to. The reason being for his callous cruelty when he chose to deduce the reason for a gift she'd brought – correct motivations but incorrect recipient in that he hadn't connected the dots in that the gift was for him. Instantly abashed for causing her humiliation, he apologized, begged her forgiveness, and kissed her cheek.
Of course, Sherlock now starts to exploit her infatuation because, still, he doesn't really get what love is all about. He doesn't seem to see what it is to emotionally hurt someone because he's cut off proper access to his own heart. In fact, to leap ahead, it is amazing character growth to contrast his early interactions with her – faking interest in her hair and make up just to have access to bodies – against his honest pleading with her to say “I love you” and then having an absolute melt-down when he realized Eurus had used him to emotionally bludgeon Molly.
“You look sad, when you think, he can't see you.” Molly is one of the few people that Sherlock cannot bluff his way around. But this moment also reveals that she is one of the few people he trusts enough to show his real feelings. Yes, he will show John those feelings as well, but in this circumstance he simply couldn't afford to. But he had to be able to relieve some of that emotional stress with someone and Molly was the one he turned to – even if he wasn't initially aware that he was doing so.
Sherlock Holmes: [waiting for Molly in the darkened lab, she enters and is startled when he begins to speak] You're wrong, you know. You do count. You've always counted and I've always trusted you. But you were right. I'm not okay.
Molly Hooper: Tell me what's wrong.
Sherlock Holmes: Molly... I think I'm going to die.
Molly Hooper: What do you need?
Sherlock Holmes: If I wasn't everything that you think I am, everything that I think I am... would you still want to help me?
Molly Hooper: What do you need?
Sherlock Holmes: You.
When Sherlock prepared to fake his death, one of the few people he implicitly trusted to help him was Molly. Not only did he trust her, he approached her in a very open and emotional way. He didn't simply ask her for help. I've thought a lot about the above lines and Sherlock's build up and what it all meant. What I end up with, basically, is him asking would she help him even if he wasn't the near legend that he has become... if he were the lie he's going to be forced to assume in order to make John think he's suicidal. And Molly doesn't hesitate. She will follow him into hell. And I think this might be a moment where Sherlock was still unaware of how MUCH she was devoted to him. Thus his hesitancy. And, yet, he trusts her completely.
Later, Sherlock spent time living with her while in hiding and sleeping in her room while she took the spare room. “We agreed he needed the space”. I don't, however, believe there was anything intimate going on between them and just given Molly's comments on it, it seems as though it was more awkward for her than anything.
Molly was the one Sherlock asked to go investigating when John was angry with him. He was very quick to understand that it was a one time thing because she was engaged. This was the second time he kissed her cheek; and followed it by saying she deserved every happiness. It's suggestible that he acknowledges her feelings for him by saying not every man she falls for can be a sociopath. Of course, one could read that he's referring to Moriarty but after such a tender moment that would seem a little crass. Though, this IS Sherlock and likely he would think that was a kindness. I find everything about this incredibly interesting. For one, though I've never thought there was anything romantic between John and Sherlock – there also were never any questions that John would investigate with Sherlock regardless as to whom he was seeing/married to. It simply wasn't a factor. For Molly, however, her being with someone else means she can't possibly do this with Sherlock. Why? Because of her feelings for him and, more, him recognizing and respecting that he cannot compromise that. While it doesn't say anything about his feelings for her, beyond friendship, it DOES show that he cares about her and won't ask her to do anything that makes her uncomfortable (another step forwards from series 1 Sherlock). It does, also, reveal something else. That if Molly hadn't been engaged, Sherlock would have welcomed her as a partner and that he'd enjoyed his day with her. Even if they weren't able to go out for chips after – his invitation.
The two people asked to be godparents of Rosie were Sherlock and Molly. If John also died, Sherlock and Molly would instantly be co-parents. I just wanted to throw that out there.
Molly is one of the people entrusted to look after Sherlock when he falls off the wagon. It's a short list.
When Sherlock is dying, it's a mental version of Molly who appears and saves his life. Now, for me, that IS telling in that John is the doctor and yet Molly is the one Sherlock's frantic brain latches onto first.
Finally, as was mentioned earlier, we have the infamous “I love you”. We've seen Sherlock fake emotion – fake tears – fake fear and very skillfully, too. He's gotten one over on John many times. With Molly, though, I feel as though he's learned a hard lesson about hurting her. He's trying to do better by her so he gives her his genuine feelings. And, certainly, in this moment he can't afford otherwise. He believes she'll die and Molly will not say the words unless he does first. “Say it like you mean it” may well have been stated “say it so I could believe it.” And, in fact, the first time he says it, she doesn't appear to believe it. She can tell when he lies and, I think for a long time now, she can tell when he's faking kindness to manipulate her. This is where my honest belief about this comes into play. That in order to get her to say the words to him, he had to speak truthfully. An I think that was why it was so tremendously devastating. It opened a wound he hadn't realized existed until that moment – something far deeper and FAR more demanding than that long ago emotion he'd felt for Irene. Irene would never be compromised by a declaration of love. It's possible she may even find it tragic because part of me thinks Irene, too, finds emotional investment to be compromising. I actually think there's a lot of evidence to support that. With Molly, though; who has carried this steady love for so many years – have carried Sherlock through his tragedies, has been emotional support and safety... he cannot wedge open his heart like this for the moment it takes to “save her”, only to close it once more. This is something that has ramifications for the both of them and there is every chance this forced enlightenment comes at the cost of something he wasn't given the time to figure out and act upon. In finally figuring out he loves her he may have lost her in that same breath.
If ever there is a season 5 I wonder that this would even be explored. It's hard to say. But if this is, really, the end of the show it is just as easy to see where it COULD lead.

WIP Ask Game
I got asked  “11, 13, 16 und 19?” by @madmooninc via message :D Thank you so much! :D
11 - Which character do you have the most in common with?
Hm. I love painting, the way Ava does, and reading, and making up stories (obviously). I also love animals a lot. I had a lot of nightmares when I was young, too, though not necessarily monsters under my bed. Ava really wasn’t supposed to be the way she is like, now, she just kind of became? In the end all of my characters have small pieces of me woven into them, because how else would I write them? But I think Ava might have the most, even if she’s far more chaotic than I am. Or maybe Fiyare? Good question x’D Sadly I was never that close to my brother as they both are/were XD Though I’m very happy that my parents aren’t in any way like Jon and Liz :)
13. Your characters are stranded on an deserted island. What happens?
(That reminds me of the fact that I still have to do that timetravel tag, ahahha. I’m sorry, that’s at least 3 months old by now...)
“Well, we can’t drink the sea water, that’s for sure. But there might be a water source somewhere up that mountain.” Ben looks around the island with a quizzical expression, trying desperately to find something -- anything -- that could relieve the situation. The mountain looks very steep. “Why did the stupid boat have to break down anyways?” Ava kicks at a rock. The rock refuses to budge. She huffs in pain, and then kicks at the rock again. This time it goes flying. “It’s only our luck that this island is called Disappointment Island! We should’ve known better!” She laughs a bit helplessly. They have lost most of their posessions, the wreck is probably going to be arriving during the next few days if it didn’t sink, and all the technology they had with them has broken down. Mom and Dad are discussing what to do next -- well, Mom is discussing. Dad is still mostly in shock, even after two hours, and he’s probably not going to be much help after that, either. He has no idea how to survive in the jungle. “Don’t worry”, Kiyera says jovially. “I know a trick or two. We’ll be good in no time.” “We just need to worry about the essentials first”, Iuri adds, nodding approvingly. “Find a place to stay, something to eat, and most of all: Water.” None of them say what they’re all thinking: We can be happy that we’re still alive. That everything went this well, considering how many drowned in shipwrecks. “Too bad they took down the castaway depots”, Ben says thoughtfully. “I read about them in that book that you gave me, Kiyera. About shipwrecks and pirates and the sea trade. A good book.” Now on the ground of the ocean, probably. “We should go check out the island”, Kiyera says. “Find out how big it is, what kinds of animals live here. Maybe they left something behind in that depot. The building should still be standing, right?” The others nod, happy that someone else is giving the instructions. “All right. Move as a group, stay together, be wary of, well... I don’t know. Just be careful and try to step where we do. I’m going to get Liz, then we can continue thinking about this.” Ben smiles thankfully at her. It’s nice to not be in charge for once - something he’s still getting used to, now that they’ve made so many new friends. Now that things are finally going uphill for the Nichols family again. “Don’t leave me, Ben”, Ava says quietly, clutching at his hand. He smiles at her, too. They’re all bruised and cut in places, and Ava is too, but she’s taking it in step, not complaining or crying. “I’ll never leave you”, he tells her, and it’s the truth. As long as they’ve got each other everything is going to be all right. Even if they’ll end up shipwrecked forever. But that’s not likely; he knows that there are endemic birds living here so scientists and ornithologists are bound to wind up here sooner or later. And anyways, he’s always wanted to have an adventure. And who gets a better vacation adventure than him, being stranded on an island with his favourite people in the world?
They find water that same day, and build themselves a shelter out of branches and leaves later that evening, because Kiyera is an expert in survival stuff since she led a Girl-Scout Group for several years. A very hardcore one. They are rescued three days later by a helicopter because they built a huge bonfire and because they had to leave Azrae behind because they didn’t get off from work so Iuri used to call them every night. After not hearing anything for three days straight, Azrae alarmed the coastal guards and a search party was sent out. And so Ben and Ava have the best story to tell when they return to school after the holidays.
16. What would your characters be for Halloween?
Good question! Halloween!AU in our universe :D
Ava: She’s a witch, but the nice kind (not the stereotypical evil ones). She helped a bit with the designs. It has a lot of feathers, and is probably a very earthy type of witch, mostly greens and browns. Also the witch might be a princess, too, because she has a tiara over her hat. (She loves disney princesses, after all. Especially Tiana)
Ben: I’d love to say that he would be more carefree in our world but probably not. But damn it, he loves superhero comics so he’s defintiely going as Superman, because he’s the best. Obviously.
Fiyare: A black cat, of course! Her costume is going to be really elaborate but she’ll take care to only use faux fur, and despite it’s amazingness it’ll still be rather simplistic. And def not the sexy cat version, she hates those. Fiyare’s also the one who helps the children with their costumes.
Kiyera: A pirate... hehehe. All the children in the neighbourhood love her, especially because she has a lot of (rescued) parrots sitting all over her.
Azrae - Azrae is going to be the most dramatic of them all. Nobody is surprised. They literally come as Death, but a far more enigmatic version. They’ll ask Fiyare to help them with the sewing and since she’s always happy to help she’ll teach them. Azrae does everything themselves, of course, not even letting Iuri help.
Iuri - She’s going to go as a dragon, the (in theory) firebreathing version. With elaborate scales makeup and costume. She and Azrae spent all their free time the weeks before making the most magnificent costumes. Iuri’s has small scales sown on everywhere and her makeup is on point.
Jon - He wanted to go as a character from the Silmarillion (because he loves Tolkien’s work so much, and making fan art and connection with the fan base has helped him immensely with his depression) but he couldn’t decide which one he loved the most, and because time is fickle he didn’t manage to make anything. So he goes as a vampire with a cheap costume from the store, because vampires sleep during the day, too.
Liz - She’s EXTREMELY into steampunk so her costume will have a thousand cogs and small pipes everywhere. She’s been working on it for at least half a year. At first she tried to make the rest of her family join but Ava wanted to go as a witch so badly and didn’t like the pipes, so Liz finally stopped talking about it. The end result of her late nights spent in the attic might be too heavy to wear for long, so the next year she’ll have to optimize. But that’s the price you pay. And she’s looking pretty fabulous.
Ohhh, that question was awesome XD
19 Post a pic or gif that describes your WIP.
Tumblr media
Heh. I’ll let you make up your own mind about that. ;) The best thing about this gif is that it works for almost all of them
Ask me a WIP question! :D
I have no idea if I should tag people for this because it’s all AU but anyways, whatever. :’D

So lets talk about AUs. How about one where society is run entierly on technology. But there is this underground secret drak goverment agenda for the people. The goverment uses a lot of propaganda to control the masses and keep everything uniform. It goes far deeper than just keeping order though and recently have been creating special programms for gifted people. But the programs are basically concentration camps for people that are more creative/rebelious about the order than the agenda.
So SVT are an underground group known as the rebellion that use their tech. finesse to shut down goverment comptures and gather confidential info. Also they live undergound exactly like the ninja turtles. Anyway so Y/N gets stuck in one of these camps right but she hacks into the system at her hospital like prison for a slip second to turn off all camera and locks to escape. BUT that same day the boys (SVT) were planning to raid that facility for its spy wear tech.
As you’re running out you run into the leader who agrees to help you get out and give you a safe place to stay after. As you were collecting things he analyzes everything and gets super frustrated that everything is fried and no longer salvagable.
Can’t decide weather Y/N tells them right there it was because of her or after though. Anyway theres more but uh no spoilers. creds: @immahoshi
Seungcheol: Probably the leader (original i know right). One of the most wanted men in the world, most known face of the rebellion. Also face of hope.
Jeonghan: Uhh working on it… (help?) But I think he would work heavily in the physical black market. Gets a lot of codes and spare parts.
Joshua: Navigator. Maps out the layout for missions and all the escape routes and stuff. Sets times/time frames for missions
Jun: Field workers, mostly works on the missions of search and retrieval. Can’t be trusted alone though because can’t always keep the objective straight.
Hoshi: I can see him being a charismatic hacker like Ed from Cow Boy Bebop or a field worker. If he’s a hacker I think he would be the one who likes creating malware and spying on others. Another I need help with. Gadget maker?
Wonwoo: Would probably researcher on people. Picking up their ghosts of pasts and stuff. But he for sure dabbles in the dark web or something. Makes folders for missions filled with like info for Seungcheol to review
Woozi: Hacker AF. Really great with taking down firewalls and analyzing coding on the fly. Works really accurately under pressure, fixes things the boys f up a lot.
DK: Ummm help. I feel like he would be victim managment. Like when they raid institutions/camps he’s the one to get all of the captives out and release them to safe spaces.
Mingyu: Another field agent! Charming af so usually sent off on intel missions. Known for setting off alarms an Woozi has to save his butt.
The8: Something with security cameras? Or more of an editor, controls the broadcasts that are made when they highjack stations and channels. Or counter propagandist, makes the posters and street art in the night. Like spray paints a government buildings with “We are NOT one” and stuff, feel?
Seungkwan: Another one I’m slightly stuck on. Probably field agent, gets along with people and can talk himself out of sticky situations. Probably will be close to Y/N
Vernon: Look out/Timer. Has kind of a baby driver type of thing going on. Takes care of most of the guards, sits in the security rooms most of the time monitoring the others during the mission. Changes the music every 5-10 mintues like in Inception.
Dino: Aahh my brain is 100% dead, but I think he could be a weapons expert or get away driver would be cool. Hoshi likes testing is inventions on him without him knowing. Always wants to go on missions but usually gets No’s from Seungcheol. Probably another one Y/N could be friends with.
At the end of the day everyone doubles as a field agent and has some tech insight sooo. Alright I hope this wasnt too long and annoying and if you have any suggestions I really want to hear them. Some stuff I’m not happy with so I’d love to talk things out with someone. I literally just threw up words and ideas.
adlfgkjnadlfgk omg this is AMAZING you should totally write this! This is an incredible AU! Its like something straight out of a dystopian movie!
Cheol is definitely a leader at heart. He would love being able to give people hope when it doesn’t feel like there is any. He would always do what is right and what is best for the others. Master of making plans and compromises and ALWAYS has a backup.
Jeonghan would be an amazing black market business person in this situation. He has that aura about him where people just listen and take his advice on stuff. He’d be the one they send out to infiltrate the big bad’s headquarters as a potential ally so he can distract them while the others steal information.
Joshua is definitely someone who always has a backup. He seems like the kind of person that would want more than one plan in case they go south. He would be the voice of reason to Seungcheol’s plans and will always have backups in case Cheol doesn’t have any.
Jun definitely has an issue with sticking to the plan, especially if he doesn’t like it. Usually causes a bit of chaos in the field, but he’s lucky so it always ends up to the rebellion’s advantage. Would 10/10 be ready to fight the enemy at all times as well.
Hoshi is definitely also chaotic. I feel he’d be good at weapons building because he can get inspiration from anywhere. His inventions always seem crazy or like they wouldn’t be useful, but always end up working perfectly? Like those inventions that people would say like “who knew” because they didn’t expect it to work so well.
Wonwoo is definitely a researcher. Makes sure everyone knows the ins and outs of an operation. Would be an advisor to both Joshua and Seungcheol so they can come up with the best plan of action. Also notifies them when there is some big news they haven’t heard yet. Seems intimidating but he also likes watching cat videos in the internet so yeah
Woozi is definitely a hacker. Its the job with the least amount of contact with people so he can get his work done. Secretly loves when the boys come to see him with a problem. Also definitely works well under pressure.
DK would absolutely be a medic or kind of like a first responder. Would be the first person that all people who have been rescued would visit to get a debrief. He would kinda be like the landlord and host for the people they rescue, and if anyone has a problem they would go to him. His smile is enough motivation for people to join the revolution.
Mingyu is a field agent but also makes sure that everyone else takes care of themselves. Sometimes helps Seok with the people they rescue if he doesn’t have anything to do. Would be kind of like the brute force to match Jun’s agility and sleight of hand. Jun evades, Mingyu attacks. It would be like a perfect balance.
Minghao I feel would also be a field agent or a security kind of person. He would monitor the refugees and protect them in case anyone tried to attack the base. He’d be the one to help keep everything in order on the inside and the outside. When he is sent into the field no one knows where he is because he is fast and completely silent. He’s the person they send in when Jeonghan is the distraction because he can get in and out the fastest.
Seungkwan is also a distractor as well as a refugee helper. He loves helping Seokmin take care of the people they rescue because he has a big heart that loves helping others and wants justice. But, he also sometimes gets sent in as a distraction like Jeonghan, except he’s more outgoing about it so he’s the one they send in when they want to make some chaos.
Vernon definitely gives off the baby driver vibe (bc he never takes out his earphones). He’s the person they know that can transport anyone anywhere without being caught. Always gets sent out because he’s reliable. Always gets yelled at by Joshua and Cheol for not listening to them and making sure he’s on the right track for the getaway
Dino: a trainee under Hoshi for weapons building I think. He’s kind of a prodigy at it. Sometimes questions Hosh’s methods and ideas but always goes with it because there’s a piece of him that knows it is most likely going to be amazing. Also enjoys creating a bit of chaos and can’t wait till he can make his own weapons of mass destruction
omg this au sounds amazing someone pls write this

THE BUREAU D’ECHANGE DE MAUX - LORD DUNSANY
Fanwork Types Requested: Treat - Fic, Trick - Fic
Characters Requested: Shop Owner
This short story can be read online for free here. CW for brief antisemitism (it’s one line/mention, but it caught me off guard, so).
I actually hadn’t read this story before seeing it in the tagset, but what an intriguing premise! I’d love to hear more about the shop owner’s business and the bargains his customers make. The trades in the story seem intuitively equal -- life for death, troubling intelligence for happy ignorance, a phobia for a phobia -- but what more unusual types of trades might occur? Has anyone ever tried to rob the shop owner? What strange or ordinary-seeming locales has his shop traveled to, and how does he feel about them? I’m interested in Trick and Treat takes on all of these questions.
I really like Lord Dunsany’s style and would enjoy anything in that tone. If you wanted to bring in some of his other short story characters, like Nuth or the bad old woman in black, that would be great. I’m also open to crossovers for this fandom with all fandoms I’ve requested in this exchange or any previous one.

CARNACKI THE GHOST-FINDER - WILLIAM HOPE HODGSON
Fanwork Types Requested: Treat - Fic, Trick - Fic
Characters Requested: Thomas Carnacki
The original nine short stories about Carnacki can be read online for free here. Project Gutenberg also has the first six stories.
Among fictional occult detectives of the early twentieth century, Carnacki has a special place in my heart. He gets scared, he makes mistakes, he does weird things with colored lights and electricity, and sometimes he figures out that the haunting was a hoax. While the supernatural cases that Carnacki investigates are (in my opinion) genuinely scary, those occurrences that turn out to have a mundane explanation are just as suspenseful.
Hodgson’s cosmic horror worldbuilding, as well, is inventive and unusual. My favorite Carnacki story, “The Hog,” concerns a malevolent extra-dimensional pig that attempts to manifest in the world by tormenting a frightened dreamer. Other adversaries include a ghost horse, a cursed ancient dagger, and a giant pair of whistling lips.
For Treats, I’d like to see Carnacki tackle a lighter-hearted problem or deal with an antagonist that’s more silly than sinister. The stories’ conceit is that Carnacki calls his four closest friends to dinner every so often and makes them wait until the meal is finished to recount his latest case. I’d also enjoy something about his relationships with them, maybe a situation where his personal and professional lives clash or he acquires a new quirk after an odd case.
For Tricks, I want ghost pigs and ghost pigs only. Just kidding! I’d really like to hear more about the creatures and lore of this universe, as well as the beings, texts, and rituals that Carnacki references or uses in his work. More mistakes, near misses, and terrifying encounters are always welcome.

INVADER ZIM
Fanwork Types Requested: Treat - Fic, Trick - Fic
Characters Requested: Dib, Zim
Apparently one of my forever fandoms. To re-use my own words: There’s something irresistible to me about the blend of snappy comedy, unapologetic pessimism, and hints of a more complicated universe that we just get to see. I’m not up to date on the comics yet, but please feel free to include canon from comics, show, or movie.
Dib
I love Dib’s obsessiveness, his alienation, and his frantic pursuit of approval from a community and society that couldn’t care less about him. He wants to be the hero, but his actions are selfishly motivated and often result in catastrophe. I’m really endeared by his devotion to the paranormal and the ridiculous situations he’s drawn into.
Dib/Zim is my OTP, but I also enjoy them interacting as enemies or frenemies. (I would prefer any sexual content be set when Dib is 16 or older.) For gen, I’m interested in Dib’s family relationship with Gaz, potential friendship with Tak, and encounters with aliens, cryptids, monsters, ghosts, and other paranormal investigator types.
Zim
Zim is a total disaster, and that’s what I love about him. Like Dib, he’s stuck in a futile quest for validation from leaders and peers who would prefer he not exist. I like that he’s gullible and easily scared -- cf. “Germs,” his meltdown over the VHS copyright notice in “FBI Warning of Doom” -- yet unusually chaotic and dangerous even among his species. He also has a subconscious layer of... neediness, I think? that could be really interesting to explore.
Again, Dib/Zim is my OTP. For gen interactions, I like Zim’s relationships with GIR, Ms. Bitters, the Tallest, and any other invaders, as well as random hapless humans and experiments and so on.

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES
Fanwork Types Requested: Treat - Fic, Trick - Fic
Characters Requested: The Buried, The Vast, Adelard Dekker, Jurgen Leitner, Peter Lukas, Gertrude Robinson
My favorite horror podcast! I may be obsessed at the moment. I love the tone and worldbuilding of TMA -- the entropy and hopelessness, the way the monsters don’t play fair, the semi-religious devotion of avatars to their patrons.  I also love characters figuring out the magnitude of the awfulness they’re dealing with, and fighting against overwhelming odds.
The Buried
A fascinating fear! I’m really attracted to the Buried’s mix of attributes -- not just dirt, asphyxiation, and the subterranean, but also pressure, metaphysical weight, oppressive circumstances and hopeless struggle.
This entity’s particular aspects of denial, and of accepting increasingly adverse or strange conditions -- the pit, the statement giver from “Dig,” Karolina Górka considering a nap on the Underground -- both unsettle and delight me.
I feel that both the Buried and the Corruption have this compelling theme of like... suffocating, boundary-crushing love, that takes a person’s identity, will, and outside connections but leaves them a sense of belonging or importance. Then, on the other hand, the Buried can also belittle as it isolates. I thought Hezekiah Wakely’s identification of the Buried with rest and peace, and the Sunken Sky’s evocation as a mercy, were very interesting as well.
For prompts: I really love archaeology and ancient history, so I’d love anything about the Buried in connection to that. An anon on FFA brought up the Kola Superdeep Borehole as a potential hook for the Buried, and that idea is quite  interesting to me. I’d also love to hear about any of the statement givers from canon, the coffin’s other victims, or any main or original characters encountering this entity.
The Vast
Heights are one of my most visceral fears in real life, despite not being something I’m conceptually afraid of. I am requesting the Vast because I would like to be conceptually afraid of it!
Elements of this entity that intrigue me: the image of the Falling Titan, nihilism (and finding freedom in it), insignificance, call of the void, oceans / storms / cliffs, space, scales of size so large they’re not humanly comprehensible, Simon Fairchild’s love for the sky, delineation from the Lonely, opposition to the Buried, unusual manifestations.
As with the Buried, I really love the justifications that avatars give for their devotion to a power -- something exploring that, the choice to serve and the benefits that someone either gains or rationalizes after the fact, would be amazing. As stated above, unusual manifestations of fears are my jam, especially things that start out looking like one power but turn out to have a different affiliation.
I’d be interested in hearing about any canonical statement givers, avatars, main characters, or original characters encountering the Vast, or perhaps just a record of a past manifestation. I love stuff that’s grounded in a place, time, or feeling, so something super-specific or historical would be awesome. But, again, I really just want to be scared.
Adelard Dekker
Such an interesting character, and with depths yet to be explored! I enjoy his pragmatism, sense of humor, and relationship with his faith. I’m intrigued by the question of his allegiance and motivations, as well.
I’d love to hear more about Dekker’s pursuit of the Extinction -- perhaps the incident or incidents that first made him suspect its existence? accidental Extinction!Dekker? -- and his apparently far-flung contact network. I ship him both romantically and platonically with Gertrude, and I’d be interested to hear about their first meeting or other cases they collaborated on. Additionally, Dekker/Tim is a rarepair that intrigues me -- perhaps they meet in an AU where Tim becomes Dekker’s apprentice, and they take down Nikola together? I’d be open to seeing him interact with any character you think might be interesting, whether in a gen or shippy way.
Jurgen Leitner
I just want to know about the cataloging system he uses. Alternately, MORE LEITNERS. Alternately, ohh, the hubris! Leitner’s motivations for starting his library, vs. what he actually ends up effecting... aiii. I’m interested in what role the Eye played there, or how others may have manipulated him.
I don’t have any ships for Leitner, but for gen I would be interested to see him interact with Gertrude, his assistant, or Gerard Keay. Elias or Peter Lukas could also be interesting -- potentially funny, potentially sad or ominous.
Peter Lukas
On the one hand, a sinister sea captain and the heir of a frightening legacy; on the other, an annoying boss who refuses to learn basic computer skills and says things like “You and me, the dynamic duo!” I enjoy how petty and human Peter seems, at the same time that he’s this remote and gleeful monster.
I ship Peter/Martin super hard, but I also enjoy gen Peter & Martin and both gen and shippy interactions involving Elias. Additionally, I’m really interested in what happened for Peter to transport Gertrude to Sannikov Land, given their animosity. (Peter and Gertrude interacting seems like it could be hilarious.) For a fish-out-of-water scenario, I’d also like to see something where Peter feels out of control or threatened -- like, perhaps he’s caught in another avatar’s trap, or forced to be around other people for a bet or some strange purpose.
Re: Peter/Martin: I would prefer for Martin to gain the upper hand, even if it’s just in principle. I really like the idea of Peter going along thinking he’s in control, he’s seduced Martin to the Lonely, his plan is moving along -- and then he’s suddenly hit with all these feelings that he doesn’t know what to do with, because he’s never been in this situation before. On Martin’s part, I like it when he’s sort of reluctantly allured, but also contemptuous and focused on his own plan. And I would absolutely love some weird monster courting rituals -- Peter trying to impress Martin, but not quite pulling off “human” or “not disturbing.” I’m not married to these sorts of dynamics, though -- if there’s one you like better, please write it.
Gertrude Robinson
My favorite character! I love her practicality, dry wit, and self-control, but I also love stuff exploring her weaknesses, blind spots, regrets. I like that she can be smug and sometimes cruel, but not to the point where she violates her own principles (or, at least, not in her own opinion). I like that her backstory is so simple. I just really like Gertrude, in general.
For solo Gertrude, I’d like to learn more about her early days at the Institute -- maybe some of those heroic ideas she mentions she had, or their gradual dispelling. I’m also interested in seeing her solve problems, travel to unusual (or totally mundane) places, and face all kinds of supernatural nonsense. How did she get so unflappable? Is it mostly temperament, or was it a process?
For Gertrude ships, I could be convinced to ship her with pretty much anyone, but especially Agnes, Adelard Dekker, Emma Harvey, and Mary or Gerry Keay. For gen, I like her with everyone. I just want to see Gertrude interact with people!

STELLAR FIRMA
Fanwork Types Requested: Treat - Fic, Trick - Fic
Characters Requested: Hartro Piltz, Trexel Geistman, David 7, IMOGEN
I love this podcast so much it’s ridiculous. If I recall correctly, it’s been described as a cross between Brazil and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; this strikes me as accurate. I love how the tone is at once silly and exuberant, but also dark and messed-up, in an absurd way that doesn’t try to hammer listeners over the head with its irony. (Please feel free to explore that darkness in a Trick.) Also, it’s funny.
Hartro Piltz
I fell head over heels for Hartro’s character somewhere between her first appearance and the Executive Quarterly mini-episode where she reveals that her alarm clock launches her headfirst at the floor every morning (“I like to really smack awake”). She’s such a fun villain, and her attempts at team bonding with David and Trexel are oddly endearing. I like that it’s made clear that she’s as much at the mercy of Stellar Firma as everyone else, just with more perks.
For ships, I’m really into Hartro/Trexel, and I could get behind some Hartro/Trexel/David 7 as well. (If foot stuff is opt-in, consider me opted in.) For gen interactions, I like Hartro with anyone -- not just the other main three, but Standards, Sigmund Shankeray, and other members of her team or clients.
Trexel Geistman
Trexel is the worst, and I adore that about him. I love how thoroughly the show demonstrates his jackassery, and how it’s still possible to sympathize with him and see how he got where he is at the same time that you (I) just want to shake him.  His responsibility-abnegating, depression, and alcoholism seem weirdly realistic, or at least reality-informed, and they weight his character in a way that I find compelling. I love his songs and weird shticks (Detectives and Detonations <3), and lapses into grandiosity and fantasy.
For ships, I like Trexel with Hartro or David 7 or both. Bathin/Trexel and Percy/Trexel, as well. Broom/Trexel, ehh. For gen interactions, I’m interested in seeing him interact with just about anyone -- but I’m especially curious what he did to Space Gertrude’s space tug (from Episode 25, one of the character witnesses from the trial). For seasonal-themed prompts, I am amused by the idea of Trexel as a horror host -- thanks, FFA -- or something else along the lines of the TMA crossover mini-episode.
David 7
Poor, sweet, innocent, possibly-doomed David 7. I love his rage, his affinity for crafts, and the bits where he gets swept up in the excitement of planet-designing (or planet-selling, or problem-solving) and can’t contain his enthusiasm. And I love his progression, over the first two seasons, from timid and cautious to just plain fed up.
For ships, I like David/Trexel, David/Bathin, David/Bathin/Trexel, and David/Trexel/Hartro. David and IMOGEN are interesting to me both platonically and romantically. For gen, I am again interested in seeing him interact with just about anyone.
IMOGEN
How much power does IMOGEN have, exactly? At some point, I hope we find out. I love her chipper sarcasm and barely-hidden dark side, and I hope that she eventually gets a vacation.
I don’t really ship IMOGEN with anyone, though the idea of David/IMOGEN is interesting. Her dynamic with David seems to have an unusual tension built into it, where they get along well and he trusts her but she can’t stop herself from threatening him with gun walls and there’s some murkiness about everyone’s motivations. Oh! IMOGEN and the Board, IMOGEN and the senior executives -- what’s going on there? IMOGEN and the station, IMOGEN and near-omnipotence -- there are a lot of fascinating things to explore about her as an AI.

Wing Meta: Kalas
Now that the holidays (and extended family interactions =____=) are over, let’s talk about our favorite fuckup! :D
I think this one has even more spoilers than the Xelha post.
Wing Meta: Xelha
Wing Meta: Savyna and Lyude
Tumblr media
So, good ol’ カラス. There’s little point in speculating about the inspiration for his wings (since the game is very, very clear on the raven theme), buuuut I’m gonna do it anyway ‘cause that’s just the kinda guy I am.
Well, that and the fact that they’re no ordinary corvid wings. They’ve got a distinctive hook off the wrist, which is most likely an unusually pronounced alula (aka bird thumb), meaning that what we’re looking at is exposed bone. Spooky! (Also appropriate, given the whole carrion bird/harbinger of apocalypse thing.)
Tumblr media
Fun fact! According to Wikipedia, “alula” translates to “winglet”! And it’s also called a “bastard wing”. And Kalas has no parents, so....
Anyway, his wing is otherwise a fairly standard shape for that family... except for the pronounced secondaries. Alas, I’m not actually a bird person so I won’t speculate further about that (so as to spare myself any more hours of futile corvid research. The winglet diagram comes in real handy here, since it’s basically a mirrored skeleton of his other wing). Finally, he’s got falcon-like stripes on his pinions resulting in a mix of browns and greys.
Even expanding into other corvid species, I could’t find any that truly matched these details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In any case, onto symbolism!
Ravens are consistently depicted across cultures as tricksters and omens of misfortune and death, though the latter is isn’t nearly as universal.
Trickster Ravens
Corvids in general are considered highly intelligent birds, an attribute that they mainly use for theft. For example, they’ve been known to yank the tails of other birds/animals in order to distract them from a tasty, tasty meal. Magpies in particular have such a rep for stealing End Magnus shinies that they’ve become synonymous with the act in much the same way as we use “packrat” to describe a hoarder and “chicken” a coward.
Ravens As Omens
In Greek tradition, a white raven was Apollo’s messenger. Ravens are more relevant in terms of the practice of augury, a form of divination in which certain birds are observed for signs of favor/displeasure of the gods. Ravens (and crows) fall under the label of “oscines”, or birds whose omens are determined based upon their calls. They aren’t regarded as being inherently unlucky (that dubious honor goes to the owl).
According to Wikipedia (citation desperately longed for), in Serbian folklore ravens “appear in pairs and play the role of harbingers of tragic news... in combination with female characters as receivers of the news”.
Unlike black cats, there’s an emphasis on ravens as a sign of misfortune to come rather than an embodiment of it. Similarly, they don’t directly symbolize death; instead they’re merely associated with it, much in the way one might associate the fall colors with the coming winter.
Ravens in Japanese Folklore
I went through many layers of questionable research to get this info, so it damn well better be accurate.
Yatagarasu, the 3-legged crow, was a guide sent by Amaterasu to Emperor Jimmu in order to guide his lost ass to his future seat of power.
Tumblr media
Seen here: Yatagarasu and Jimmy’s lost ass (left).
After Google Fu’ing for awhile to figure out the meaning behind a sentence found word-for-word and lacking citation in nearly every article on Yatagarasu, I finally managed to track down an additional piece of lore: he is apparently an incarnation of Kamo Taketsunumi no Mikoto, god of good fortune and founder of the Kamo clan (???? Maybe??? All those articles weren’t kidding when they said the legends of Yatagarasu are contradictory).
Color Symbolism
This is, of course, something the varies from culture to culture. The relevant symbols here are black and white.
Black
West
death/void
authority
evil
mystery
Japan
evil
bad luck (take this with a grain of salt--I don’t trust my sources on this)
White
West
purity
peace
holiness
sterility
Japan
death
mourning
simplicity/purity
Interpretation
Kalas and Fate
So how does this shape how we can interpret Kalas?
It’s best to start with how he got the name in the first place.
Hearing you were not the perfect being [Geldoblame] had envisioned, he called you an ill omen, a cursed premonition of things to come. He named you Kalas, which means Raven in a long-lost language.
Larikush, on the origin of Kalas’ name
I guess it was the reason for my existence, and my hatred.... Something I just couldn’t get rid of.
Kalas, on why his name was the only thing he remembered after Alfard
And, of course, straight from Emperor Gelnochill himself:
I found you Kalas, you sickly raven!!!
Geldohead, triple exclamation his
I find Kalas’ comment the most interesting, since it’s an explicit reference to the theme of destiny yes I said it that is woven into the Baten Kaitos as a whole. One of the things I really like about this series is the interplay between fate and choice--many characters have fated roles (Kalas, Xelha, Melodia, Mizuti, Sagi, Guillo, people touched by the Dark Brethren in general) but even as they fulfill them, the narrative never treats it as if free will is antonymous with these events.
Dr. Georg’s experiments were aimed at creating a Magnus of Life. This would be the exact opposite of the End Magnus, which are symbols of death and destruction... Kalas and Malepercio may have been destined to fight one another....Kalas could be said to be a bad omen for Malpercio, a harbinger of the god’s demise
Lyude, on something that’s really sad once you’ve played Origins
Love and hatred... Melodia[sic], and Kalas... She is Malpercio’s curse to the world, Kalas must be his prayer...
Xelha, ditto
“Fate” is largely played as being somewhere between divine intervention and the consequences of choice (e.g. Malpercio seeking power from the Dark Brethren put everything in motion), hence why the Magnus of Life could and did choose not to oppose Malpercio at first. It makes for an interesting hierarchy of power, like an arch.
The Dark Brethren can be considered the keystone and Malpercio the arch itself--it is by their power that Malpercio is what it is, their locking the gods into position that keeps them from acting of their own will. Melodia and Kalas are outside forces, bound to--but unfettered by--the conflict between master and unwilling servant. Despite their role as pawns, they’re the ones with the most power. Influence can be asserted over them, but in the end it’s their hands that decide if the keystone is restored or removed.
Kalas’ identity as the ominous raven is the perfect example of this theme at play. He’s repeatedly acknowledged as an entity of misfortune, but ultimately it’s his will that decides whose. He’s no passive auspice--bad things may happen to those around him, but only by way of his own agency (and the of others. Looking at you, Geldoblameworthy-for-his-own-problems). Even at the very end, when Melodia chooses to surrender to fate, it’s he who rescues her and tells Malpercio to rest.
He and Melodia can be considered the pair of ravens, Xelha the receiver, as per her witnessing them discuss their plans in Moonguile.
Kalas the Trickster
Kalas is possibly the most wily protagonist who isn’t straight up a villain I have ever seen. Street smart, people smart, and a fantastic actor, he’s able to pull the wool over the eyes of basically anyone who isn’t already aware of what he’s trying to do. It can be surmised that he’s also gifted at sleight of hand, given that no one noticed him slip an ever-glowing magnus to the ducal heir of Mira.
The entire first half of the game is an elaborate trick on the Guardian Spirit and Malpercio, fooling them about their memories and using them as a buffer against Malpercio’s power (though one has to wonder if that wasn’t just a trick on Melodia’s part, as Kalas was already exposed to that power. It would absolutely be in character for him to nope out of the picture if he thought that coming in contact would turn him into a boob monster).
As is common in the trickster archetype, he rarely relies on brute force to achieve his goals, to the point that one of the major character shifts in the late game is him swearing to take down Malpercio. Giacomo is his other blind spot, his mere appearance sending Kalas into an otherwise unseen rage. It’s easy to overlook that these are the exceptions, given how prominent they are (and how they launch you into one of the more dreaded fights in the game).
However, when it comes down to it, most of his work is done so quietly, it becomes a major reason to replay, just to see if you can catch him. Right from the get-go, he uses Xelha’s reference to Moonguile as an excuse to head on in. When she gets mad at him for looting, he restructures his argument to appeal to emotionalism and lets her believe what she wants. And while he initially resists joining up with her, he has no problem travelling together for convenience sake (and later, presumably, to stay close to the Earth Pendant and Chaotic Trio). Then there’s his efforts to direct suspicion onto Lyude. Despite coming across as the brashest member of the party, he frequently hides behind the others in this manner.
Yatagarasu
This section won’t be as carefully constructed as the others, but I believe the allusion is intentional. For the purpose of this argument, I’m going to have Kalas’ 3 arms--his arm arms/winglets and his natural wing--stand in place of Yatagarasu’s 3 legs. (Alternatively, one could count his original wing and the white wings, but I’m not going to for reasons to be indicted.)
Xelha takes the part of Jimmu, the royal wanderer. It was, after all, her dream of Kalas that was the inciting incident for her entire part in the story, returning him to the role of omen. It lead her to send out the witches, spy on Geldoblame, and bring Kalas along even knowing his intentions. In times of uncertainty throughout the story, she turns to her desire to save him as a source of strength and guidance.
Kalas: Black and White
Melodia refers to him both as “dark-winged stranger” and “white-winged darkness”. Kalas’ treatment in the narrative is interesting regarding the idea of purity. His lack of a second wing leads to him being ostracized by everyone from Geldoblame to some Miran randos. Larikush links the single wing to Kalas being “excessively human” and Balancoir Asshole #2′s “Malformed wings are the direct result of a malformed heart. His soul must have been tainted at birth”.
Of course, once he’s touched by Malpercio, he gains a (literally) shiny new pair of wings. This is also the point where he goes from morally distraught antihero to unrepentant mwahaha’er, only changing back when he makes the choice to rip out his additional wing.
The color symbolism is a little hard to decipher here, given that it’s an Eastern game but Kalas’ design is more West-inspired than just about any other character. From a Western perspective, it’s a fairly clear-cut juxtaposition of contrary symbols--his dark wings initially foreshadow his betrayal but ultimately are associated with his good side while the white represent the acceptance he seeks but are tainted by evil.
Kalas is the fallen angel, right down to Xelha being drawn to him like a moth to flame. I could probably make a whole section on Kalas being a croc-wearing anime Lucifer but I’m kinda really uncomfy with the Church, so I’d rather save myself that stretch.
In Japan it gets more complicated, assuming that that info regarding black’s symbolism is accurate. Because while the white of death is suitable for the dark harbinger, black isn’t terribly befitting of the Divine Child. It’s possible it’s a reference to the fact that Kalas wasn’t originally the Divine Child but *shrug*
Uh, so yeah. There’s plenty more I could say but this is already too long ^^;

That Was the Year That Was – 1937
Monarch – George VI
Prime Minister – Stanley Baldwin (Coalition) (until 28 May), Neville Chamberlain (Coalition) (starting 28 May)
Britain was experiencing a severe recession as it struggled to emerge from the slump that began in the U.S. in 1929.
With a family of 11, including her husband James, to feed in their Surrey home, Mrs Bonwick counted the pennies by meticulously listing every item with its price.
On August 15, that included a tin of corned beef at 6d (21/2p), a pound of cheese for 8d and a packet of custard powder for 5d. There was also 1lb of butter for 12d – a shilling – and 1lb of tea for two shillings.
Her bill totalled 2411/2d, just over £1 in 1937. The equivalent items would cost £41.88 today.
999, the world’s oldest emergency call service
The 999 service was introduced on 30 June 1937 in the London area, and later nationally. The system is said to have been introduced following a fire on 10 November 1935 in a house on Wimpole Street, in which five women were killed.
Norman Macdonald, a neighbour, had tried to telephone the fire brigade and was so outraged at being held in a queue by the telephone exchange that he wrote a letter to the editor of The Times, which prompted a government inquiry.
When the 999 service was launched in London 79 years ago it was the world’s first emergency phone number. What happened when it rang for the first time?
On 30 June 1937, the capital’s new emergency telephone line was unveiled. A notice in the Evening News advised the public how to use it.
"Only dial 999… if the matter is urgent; if, for instance, the man in the flat next to yours is murdering his wife or you have seen a heavily masked cat burglar peering round the stack pipe of the local bank building.
"If the matter is less urgent, if you have merely lost little Towser or a lorry has come to rest in your front garden, just call up the local police."
A week later, on 7 July 1937, the press reported the first arrest after a 999 call.
John Stanley Beard was woken in the early hours of the morning by a noise underneath his bedroom window in the affluent neighbourhood of Hampstead, north London.
The architect told Marylebone Police Court that he looked out and saw a man’s foot.
He shouted at the man who, on hearing Mr Beard’s voice, ran off down the garden path, jumped over some railings and headed towards Primrose Hill.
Meanwhile, Mr Beard’s wife – referred to in reports only as Mrs Beard – dialled 999.
In less than five minutes, 24-year-old labourer Thomas Duffy had been arrested. He was later charged with an attempted break-in with intent to steal.
In a public relations coup for the new service, the Times reported that Mr Beard told the court that he was pleased to see that his tax money was being put to good use.
"My wife made use of the new signal which we were instructed to use yesterday on the telephone, and as a result of using that signal almost instantaneous connection was made with the police station, and in less than five minutes this man was arrested," he said.
"It struck me, as a householder and fairly large taxpayer, that we are getting something for our money, and I was very much impressed by it."
Not all the calls made to 999 in its first week were as serious as Mrs Beard’s. In fact, of the 1,336 calls made, 91 were prank calls.
Quicker access to the fire brigade was the reason the idea of an emergency number had been debated initially.
The public’s willingness to call on the police couldn’t be more different from their attitude when the force was formed.
"There was a lot of opposition to policing in London when it was formed in 1829. Some people objected to it on cost. Some people saw it as a military force being imposed on London and a great effort was made to try and make them blend in with the public," says Neil Paterson, the manager of the Metropolitan Police Heritage Centre.
"Ironically, at the turn of the century, the police resisted having telephones put in the station. They thought it would be embarrassing for members of the public calling in.
"As soon as 999 was introduced, the success of it showed immediately and it spread out to the whole country and it resulted in arrests and people getting assistance quickly."
The service was introduced in Glasgow a year later, in 1938.
But it wasn’t until after World War II that it spread to other parts of the UK, including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. It became available to the entire country only when all the telephone exchanges were automated in 1976.
Dr Chris Williams of the Open University says the introduction of police radios had been the key to the service working, because it allowed real-time communication that then enabled quick responses to emergency calls.
Despite a positive start, there were still some teething problems.
Like today, operators would answer the calls and then transfer them to the appropriate emergency service. Now it is BT and Cable & Wireless who answer the calls.
Back in 1937 when the Post Office ran the telephone network, operators were alerted to an incoming 999 call by a flashing red light and a klaxon.
A 1951 article in the Post Office Telecommunications Journal described fairly chaotic scenes in its call centres during 999’s early days.
"When the raucous buzzer sounded in the quiet disciplined switchrooms a few of the girls found the situation too much for them and had to be carried out. It was even suggested in the press that the buzzers were disturbing other people living in the vicinity of the exchanges!"
Thankfully for the call handlers, technology has led to efficiencies in dealing with a huge growth in calls over the years.
Mobile phone technology in particular led to a dramatic spike in the number of calls made.
When the 999 service was first made available to mobile phones users in 1986, fewer than 19 million emergency calls came into BT annually.
Jet Engine
Frank Whittle succeeded in developing the jet engine in spite of rather than thanks to officialdom. As an RAF apprentice turned officer cadet he faced snobbery from his better off contemporaries; his thesis at Cranwell was a brilliant study entitled Future Developments in Aircraft Design, already moving away from prop engines to the motorjet but the Air Ministry in 1929 had his design ideas evaluated by a rival who not unnaturally found fault with them. Even when his designs came good he was to all intents and purposes cheated out of the fruits of his labours.
Happily for Frank Whittle and posterity the private sector came to his rescue in the form of investment bankers seeking what would (aptly) now be called ‘blue skies’ projects. O.T. Falk & Partners put the money up for his ideas to be reviewed independently, and when the results were positive they provided further funding for Whittle to develop a prototype while he was still studying engineering at Peterhouse College Cambridge . Even then the Air Ministry again used his rival, A.A. Griffiths, to evaluate Whittle’s work, the prize being funding for either Whittle or Griffiths! Griffiths was slightly more positive as regards the Whittle concept, but negative regarding some of the detail. Griffiths got the backing.
Though O.T. Falk gave notice that no more funds would be given to the project, Whittle and his engineering colleagues carried on regardless, and on April 12 1937 they tested the Whittle Unit engine at a facility in Rugby owned by British Thomson Houston. It passed the ground test with flying colours as it were, though the noise generated was so deafening that those not working on the project ran for cover when they heard it. Doors now opened, though there were still funding difficulties, and red-tape that made things more problematic than they should have been. Whittle himself suffered health problems, and his work was so demanding that he used ‘uppers’ to get through a long day and then needed tranquilisers to get any sleep at night.
Eventually Whittle won through, and the first jet plane flew on May 15 1941 from the Cranwell base where he had become an officer in the Twenties. With intelligent support the RAF might have been flying jets before WWII , with who knows what consequences for the shortening or even avoidance of that war.
Royalty
Edward VIII’s younger brother, the Duke of York, was crowned George VI. He and his wife Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother), became inspirational figures for Britain during World War Two. The monarch visited his armies on several battle fronts and founded the George Cross for ‘acts of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger’.
The BBC use their outside broadcast unit for the first time, to televise the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. A fragment of this broadcast is one of the earliest surviving examples of British television – filmed off-screen at home by an engineer with an 8 mm cine camera. A short section of this footage was used in a programme during the week of the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and this latter programme survives in the BBC’s archives.
The British Duke of Windsor and American Wallis Warfield Simpson are married in a small ceremony in France on June 3rd . The Duke of Windsor was formerly known as King Edward VIII of Great Britain but had abdicated in 1936 in order to marry American socialite Wallis Simpson. Simpson was already married when they started their relationship which was especially scandalous at the time. Simpson got divorced, for a second time in her life, in order to marry King Edward VIII but the royal family and the British government still thoroughly rejected the idea of her as Queen. After he renounced his throne and her divorce was finalized they promptly married and had remained together until the Duke of Windsor’s death in 1972.
Spanish Civil War: The child refugees Britain didn’t want
When the Spanish Civil War broke out 80 years ago, many people fled their homes for safety, including nearly 4,000 children evacuated to England. Parallels have been drawn with the plight of unaccompanied young Syrian refugees – but how did the Spaniards cope with having to leave their war-torn homeland?
The children docked in Southampton in May 1937 – less than a year after fighting erupted between right-wing Nationalists and left-wing Republicans.
But their arrival followed much debate in the UK over whether to accept them.
Amid fractious relations across the continent, British prime minister Stanley Baldwin was keen to avoid involvement in the conflict and, along with his French counterpart Leon Blum, called for European powers to agree to a non-intervention policy, which was signed in September 1936.
However, signatories Germany and Italy "flagrantly flouted" it, says historian Adrian Bell, by sending military support to Nationalist leader General Francisco Franco, while the Soviet Union – also a party to the agreement – aided the Republicans.
"There’s no doubt at all that the Germans regarded it as a kind of laboratory [for] testing the effects of bombing as a new way to fight wars," he adds.
Public demonstrations were held in British cities by trade unions and the Labour Party, which condemned Franco as "the assassin of Spanish democracy".
Calls were also made to accept refugees, which intensified after the infamous Nazi saturation bombing of Guernica in April 1937.
However, the evacuation of women and children from the besieged Basque Country was seen as a possible breach of the non-intervention policy by some in Whitehall.
The government’s view was that, if people were removed, "then these are mouths, people, that don’t have to be fed – in a way you are helping to prolong the defence of Bilbao against the attack by Franco," Mr Bell adds.
Events
British author J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novel “The Hobbit” was published on September 21st. The book quickly became popular and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal award for children’s literature. This was Tolkien’s first novel and is now considered a precursor to his wildly popular Lord of the Rings trilogy. The book was published by George Allen & Unwin in London. After its initial release the book received positive review and the first edition was sold out within a few months.
Hoover; Durex; Tipp-Ex; and Sellotape: brand names that have entered into common usage in Britain to such a point that they have become generic. Blue Peter may say sticky-tape, but we know they really mean Sellotape.
These products become genericised because they are pioneers, filling needs. When Sellotape was put on sale in 1937 it quickly began to replace string as the method of wrapping parcels, a nice association for the product which in many minds is linked with birthdays and Christmas. It found plenty of other uses of course: during WWII it was seen on just about every window in the land laid in a big X from corner to corner, a basic way of reducing the danger from flying glass in the event of bombs dropping nearby; and what office would be without a reel or two; and which of us spectacle-wearers has not at some point fixed breakages with a turn or two (even Harry Potter?)?
Sellotape was invented by Colin Kininmonth and George Gray, their choice of name derived from the cellophane material on which they had put rubber glue: they had to change the cello- prefix to sello- to avoid trademark conflict. Originally made in Acton in West London , it has for many years been produced in Dunstable , where the Christmas rush begins in the summer.

5 Ideas to Manage Anxiety at a Multi-Dog Thanksgiving

In my family, the holiday season means lots of food, lots of grocery-store runs, and lots of dogs underfoot. For the last several years, we have celebrated the holidays at my sister’s place. She has two little dogs, a yappy (but adorable) old Bichon and a cranky (but adorable) old Shih Tzu. Since my parents live about six hours north of the city we three kids are in, they bring along their two senior dogs. A couple of years ago, my brother got himself a pair of Miniature Schnauzer puppies, which increased the holiday guest list to six dogs, eight adults, and one human child — a multi-dog Thanksgiving.
My husband and I were the only ones who weren’t bringing a dog to holiday get-togethers, but that changed in October when our rescue Lab-mix GhostBuster attended his first (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner.
There were already four smaller dogs (including one who is blind and another who is deaf) crowding into my sister’s kitchen when GhostBuster arrived, but somehow our Dogsgiving wasn’t really that chaotic.
I’m pretty sure I was more stressed out than all of the dogs combined. Here are five tips — based on our recent experience — for keeping calm with an extended family of dogs under the table.
1. Don’t panic (like I did)
Attending a Thanksgiving celebration with other dogs? Here’s how to make it an enjoyable experience for all involved. Photography ©Voren1 | Thinkstock.
I hadn’t planned for GhostBuster to join us for Thanksgiving dinner. I didn’t know if my brother would be bringing his two dogs, and I figured that if he was, seven dogs would just be too many to have at my sister’s house (thankfully, my brother’s pups did not attend this year).
It was my husband who insisted on bringing GhostBuster (after I called him once there and asked if he would ever be making an appearance). I was nervous as I waited for them to walk the five blocks between our place and my sister’s, and when I looked out the living room window and saw the pair coming up the driveway, I felt my muscles tighten with anxiety. I wasn’t afraid that GhostBuster would behave badly, I was just afraid that I would feel like we were imposing — and I let my anxiety get the best of me.
2. Decide: All dogs inside or all dogs outside?
I was reluctant to add to the chaos already happening in the house, and as a result I wasn’t being fair to my dog or my husband. When my guys first arrived, I put poor GhostBuster in the backyard until we could figure out how to integrate our ungainly Lab mix into the crowded kitchen without him moving about like a bull in a china shop.
GhostBuster is never left outside on his own at home, so he was quickly doing his World’s Saddest Dog act. I knew I wasn’t being fair, and my husband encouraged me to either bring GhostBuster inside or let the other dogs out. We proceeded with an indoor meet-and-greet before a group pee break.
3. Introduce your dog to new dogs with caution
GhostBuster knows my sister’s dogs pretty well. They’ve gone for lots of walks together and hung out in the backyard a bunch of times. My parents’ dogs, on the other hand, didn’t know GhostBuster at all — and since Pagan the Jack Russell Terrier has been known to start scraps with my siblings’ dogs, a slow and steady introduction was needed.
When we first brought GhostBuster into the kitchen, I stood right beside him while the other dogs all circled around my feet. To Carlos and Sophie, he was old news, but Pagan and her BFF Rags were leery of this new giant before them.
My mom kept a close eye on her little Pagan as the five dogs sniffed around each other. GhostBuster was not a hit with Pagan, who growled at him — twice. My mom and I calmly separated the two, but didn’t move them very far from each other. It was obvious that Pagan was intimidated by GhostBuster, so we just kept him at a distance by until she got used to him.
By the time the humans were moving on to pumpkin pie, Pagan had begrudgingly accepted GhostBuster as a fellow member of this temporary Thanksgiving pack.
4. Don’t be a helicopter pet parent
When the turkey came out of the oven, the dogs were all very excited to do a little (safe!) taste testing of the Thanksgiving treats, and they congregated in the kitchen to get their collective beg on. My mom was giving each of the dogs a little bit of turkey, but when she got to GhostBuster, I butted in.
“It’s better if you hold it flat in your hand instead of dropping it,” I told her.
I knew I was being ridiculous, but GhostBuster’s (one and only) biting episode was still fresh in my mind, so I also tried to school my dad on the best way to deliver treats.
“Stop hovering!” my husband scolded me. “They’ve given treats to dogs before! He’s fine.”
My husband was right. My parents have probably delivered hundreds of thousands of treats and table scraps into the mouths of many dogs in their lifetimes, and GhostBuster was being a perfect gentleman, sitting and waiting for these nice people to feed him.
Once I backed off a bit and stopped trying to control every interaction, GhostBuster was able to relax and enjoy the holiday a little more.
5. Know when to call it a night
Just like holidays are stressful and overwhelming for some people (obviously, myself included), they can be overwhelming for dogs.
My husband and I were very, very proud of GhostBuster for how well he did for his first multi-dog Thanksgiving. We left Thanksgiving dinner rather early and took him on a nice, relaxing evening walk to calm down from the hectic holiday.
Tell us: How do you handle a multi-dog Thanksgiving? What are your tips and tricks?
