Breaking The Hiatus

I experienced life with less social media for the past three years I didn’t write here. Less Facebook and Instagram but Twitter, I can't. It will always be may kpop-haven.

I dropped keeping records of my day to day activity and probably getting back here for entries cause I miss expressing myself and hoping that people bumping into this page may pick up something good.

Also, It's good to look back and see how I've grown emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

So hello to you if you're reading this. Declaring blessing over blessing to you and your household; praying for God's protection to your family members from head to foot and all the abundance this life could offer.

Going back, I've been through the process of healing in the past 3 years. It wasn't easy and I can say I haven't fully recovered. Despite of everything, my heart is more than willing to love as much as it can or even more than it can.

Two Days & 1 Night S4 was my healing show. I found Kim Seonho to be my greatest healing warrior. He's also my biggest "BUDOL" (it means implusive buying in Filipino)

I added his merch to my fair share of growing kpop collection. Oh and also Ravi's (from VIXX) merch. I instantly became a HoRavi shipper and later on a solid OT6.

I got a new job title, unexpectedly and not part of my life's plan definitely.

The Lord is always faithful to His promises. I am deeply amazed how he lead me to where I am now, fit for exactly what I need just at the right time. 

For now, I'm a daughter fulfilling my duties to the best people who brought me up and showered me with unconditional love.

Behind everything, I am a woman full of faith, hope, and love to give despite all the silent pain I've been through.

Kpop title track ranking: VIXX

In this series I’ll be ranking kpop groups/soloists title tracks based on my taste.

VIXX is one of my ult groups. This is very much backed up by the fact that my tumblr archive tells me that VIXX is my second most used tag of all time. Now having this Leo&Ken&Hyuk MNET reunion stage made me listen to VIXX a lot after a while and reminded me that I could do this ranking thing for their songs too, so here we go! (I basically love them all so this is going to be both pointless and extremely difficult xD) 

Eternity - My true love. This was the first VIXX song that heard a snippet of and I had to go and listen to the full song. That was the most right choice ever made. I loved it immediately. And after all these years my love for this song just keeps on getting stronger. It’s a masterpiece and I love it to bits. Also just the instrumental version of it gets me all emotional. It’s incredible.

Error - Another tear jerker (next to Eternity). My first ever comeback as a Starlight and they delivered. I love this to bits too, Eternity just has even more special place in my heart.

Scentist - Mature masterpiece. Damn it’s just awesome. I wish we could have gotten even more of this mature and gorgeous VIXX.

Shangri-La - It’s so gorgeous! Just all about it. It’s just so pleasing to listen to.

Voodoo Doll - After that Leo&Ken&Hyuk reunion stage I’ve been stuck on Voodoo Doll! Usually I would probably not put it before On and On but right now yes I will!

On and On - And the concept kings were born! I had a period when this was my favorite VIXX song. It’s still great as ever and I can’t help loving it.

Hyde - I love the duality concept so so much!!! Those stage outfits being split 3-3 was so cool. Truly I love these songs so much and it just depends on my current mood how I rank them.

Fantasy - I have to say hearing this now, after quite a few years, I realize that I have not given this one enough credit. It’s incredible!! I’ve always liked it, sure, but somehow I’ve never given it much thought other than that. It still ends up in the middle of the pack as I have too much nostalgia-driven love for the other before it but oh my I’ve been wrong here!

Rock Ur Body - It’s such a cheerful one! Okay, I have to admit that when I first got into VIXX I didn’t like this one immediately but I grew to like it too. But I have to say it’s so catchy and cheerful I can’t help nut think fondly of it.

Super Hero - Another such cheerful one! The styling in the music video has seen better days (I mean maybe it did) but other than that I don’t think it has aged badly. It’s cute and bubbly and I’m here for it!

Chained Up - Oh boy oh boy Chained Up. There are layers here, aren’t there? The concept. Anyway. It is so so catchy, and there is no way to deny that. Also SBS Gayo Daejun 2015 performance, the noise that added to the chorus. I’m obsessed! Why doesn’t it belong to the original version, I’m so bitter xD

Dynamite - Cheerful but more grown up than the first two. Groovy? Very enjoyable but I have to say I quite rarely find myself wanting to go for Dynamite specifically.

Love Equation - This is such a special case as it actually is a remake. Counted it in because they performed it on music shows. Good that they did as they ended up winning so much with it! Happy and proud Starlight here. As a song it’s cheerful sound-wise and then you read the lyrics and you go “Oh it’s a breakup song!” Lovely but I personally usually go for the others instead.

The Closer - I admit it. I never quite got The Closer. I don’t know why but it never clicked with me. I don’t actively dislike it but I don’t get anything out of it either. And that’s just too bad. AND can we talk about the video? Poor N - who’s terrified of heights - you made him hang of that edge... Poor thing ;_; 

G.R.8.U - I didn’t even remember that this was actually a title track, oops. It’s cute and fun but I guess me forgetting that it actually is a title track tells all that needs to be told xD 

What can I even say? VIXX is amazing. Their music is amazing. I still love them dearly and have a glimmer of hope that one day we could get a proper VIXX comeback.

Vocal Unit's MV is out! I actually haven't listened to "Cheers to Youth" in full until today because (I kid you not) "Spell" is the previous track on the album, & I was busy mentally laughing (long story) that I ended up exiting the whole streaming website altogether (sorry guys!). After long thought & consideration, VCU's MV is the most relatable & storytelling among all 3 subunit MVs, because everyone is experiencing some kind of problem/crisis right now:

Woozi = difficulty leaving the house to do activities of daily living (music producer genius becomes a homebody STEM genius here)

DK = struggling with academics just before summer break (Did he borrow Jeonghan's pet rock for this MV???)

Jeonghan = vision problems affecting future life decisions (it's just an MV storyline, but poor vision definitely has negative effects on self-esteem)

Seungkwan = smartphone became a goldfish (meaning he has to go "offline" & leave the house to find solutions)

Joshua = multitasking office salaryman (if you've watched Hypnosis Microphone, then you might think of Doppo)

As for the rest of the MV...

Seungkwan looks adorable riding his bicycle with that fish tank strapped onto the back! And the phone store happened to have OPPO ads! (BSS recently filled a commercial for OPPO smartphones.)

Is it bad that I replayed Jeonghan's trip & fall several times? (Miyamura from Horimiya came to mind.) Also, having him read "FOREVER IS A LIE" during the eye exam was just heartbreaking.

Joshua sings his heart out undisturbed at work! And a coworker gave him Loacker Quadratini wafer cookies too! (those taste SO GOOD)

Shuakat (aka Meerkat Josh) gets to occasionally sit on Jeonghan's lap during Tissue Club therapy sessions. :3

Woozi's robot reminds me of this engineer on YouTube who would send a robot toy car (look it up) with cash to a store to buy something, & the store staff (equates to grandma in this MV) followed the included shopping instructions to a tee.

I need to know how the camera crew filmed DK's pet rock in midair... definitely has to be easier than sending a microphone+camera into outer space.

The rest of the MV after that could pass as "In the SOOP" footage, & the fireworks remind me of old "You're watching Disney Channel" intermission screens.

My favorite bbh moments... are many lol. I love the late night car ride lives he was doing for a while just singing and driving.

Favorite Kyunsoo songs... all of Empathy? I also really like Wonder off the new album.

I don't know that I have a SHINee bias, I feel like it changes every day but I adore them all. For WayV either Ten or Kun (speaking of lovable dorky leaders).

I like SuJu as well (so many good songs!!) I haven't heard any VIXX- what's your song rec? For Pentagon now is probably a rough time to get into them haha but I would recommend looking up Shine and Naughty Boy those are my favorites, or maybe Daisy or Dr. Bebe if you like a more intense concept.

I am not really a true horror fan but I really like the sort of offbeat gothic creepiness (think Addams Family or SHINee Married to the Music energy) and I like having a season to play that up. I don't have any halloween plans, but I decorated! What about you? Do you celebrate Halloween?

Aww nice! Changbin is very nice! He's the closest I have to a bias wrecker, though I tend to be pretty solid once I settle on a bias. But I am an appreciator of his charms. He was one of the first I noticed all the way back in Hellevator and I love his rapping so much, honestly he's one of my favorite rappers in all of kpop. 💖

The manager dropped you both off in the parking deck and you walked into the elevator.  You leaned against Taekwoon and sighed in a momentary feeling of contentment.  

"You okay?"

"I-I understand that b-but the situation has changed."  It was almost satisfying to see Brian afraid for once.  

"No, the situation is still the same.  You are the enemy and you have no right to ask for help."

"I know that!  Do you think I'd be here if I wasn't desperate?  I have no choice!"  He took a tiny step forward and Taekwoon growled.  Brian swallowed hard and started to sweat.  He looked at you and his eyes went wide.  "I-I can help protect you and the baby!"

"That's my job.  What makes you think I would let you anywhere near them?"

"Listen, I don't have time to argue with you.  They know she's going to give birth soon.  They've done this kind of thing before and they're good at it.  Your baby and fiancé will be gone before you can blink an eye."  Brian sounded desperate and his words were making you nervous. 

"I can protect my own.  Leave."

"That's not going to be good enough!  They're hybrids themselves and they know how to bring one down….permanently.  Don't be stubborn and listen to me!"  Brian rushed forward in desperation and Taekwoon cut him off.  His hand gathered the material at Brian's neck and held him there.

"Y/N, go inside."

"But…."

"It's fine.  We're just going to have a little talk.  Don't open the door and stay inside."

You knew it was useless to argue with him when he was in protective mode.  Nodding, you walked towards the doorway but stopped when Brian blocked your path.  He wasn't close but you wouldn't be able to get past him if he didn't move.

"O-of course."  Brian retreated and ambled closer to Taekwoon.  Taking your chance, you hurried inside and locked the door behind you.  You really wanted to follow Taekwoon wherever he was going but you also needed to protect the babies. 

You paced the floor for about an hour waiting for Taekwoon.  You could feel that he was still close but you were a nervous wreck.  You wished you could hear his conversations like he did with you for once.  You had no way of knowing if the people Brian worked for would set a trap for Taekwoon or if they would hurt him to get to you.  

Your heart was beating in triple rhythm when you heard the code for the door being put in.  

You waddled as fast as you could to the door and waited for Taekwoon to enter.  As soon as the door was closed you crowded him against it, looking for injuries.

You turned his head from side to side, slid your hands down his arms and found his knuckles bloodied on one hand.  The abrasions were healing quickly but the sight still broke your heart.  You made note to kiss them later.  You lifted his shirt and inspected his torso and leaned back to look at his legs.  There didn't seem to be any injuries other than the wounds on his hand.

You didn't hear his reply as a sharp contraction hit your stomach and you leaned over the counter for support.  

"Y/N?"  Taekwoon was at your side in an instant.  His hands held your shoulders and he placed a kiss on your shoulder.  The pain eased from his power and you could finally take a normal breath.

"I'm okay now.  Thank you."

When did you stan bts?

DNA era was when I started to hardcore stan them, but I have listened to their songs before I remember getting annoyed at my cousin for playing Dope lol I just wasn’t into k-pop before but I have been converted and my life has never been better, BTS and their music saved me from spiraling down, it sounds cliché but that’s the truth, I learned to love myself because of them :’) | 🍒

Hey you guys, long time no see.

So this semester kicked my ass. Between hard classes and a shit home life, my mental health has been through the wringer.

I also have discovered that I am nonbinary trans-masc. I more heavily identify with a male presentation, but still identify with nonbinary. I've been dealing with a lot of dysphoria recently, which also hasn't helped things.

My fiance graduated yesterday and I'm so proud of them. We are working on plans to move to Florida and escape our abusive home lives (we live separately atm.) I plan to start a different blog centered around my new life, with a focus on animals and horses because I want to go for an Equine Science major and a Zoology minor at one of the campuses down there.

I'm hoping that now that the stress of school is gone for now, I'll be able to be more active on here. Currently I've been working on getting my queues filled back up. Although it is also possible that my new blog will be the place I'm most active on, and that my new life will mean I'm too busy to get on Tumblr much at all. I do plan on sharing the new account here when it's made, though.

I wont delete this blog even if I do go inactive. I still love VIXX with all my heart, and I love that this is an unofficial archive of their old activities. The future is just uncertain right now, and only time will tell what it brings.

SoMa Week Day 3: Protect

I may have gone a little crazy with this one... it's sort of a lyric fic inspired by @macabremermaid sending me awesome playlists for my other fics.

"What the hell is this?"

There were never more dreadful words strung together, but the fact that Maka was shouting them as she was unceremoniously plopping onto his stomach while he was lying on the couch added a blistering wave of anxiety to them. As Soul realized it was in fact his laptop in her hands, the utter panic was compounded as his heart threatened to entirely spew from his chest.

Had he perhaps left a porn tab open?

Had she opened his email and saw how much money he actually spent on the new sound system that he bought for the living room?

Had she found the chat logs between him and Liz where she dogged him day in and day out about the uncomfortable reality of his feelings for his meister?

"Soul, seriously- KPop?"

I wish it was the porn, he cursed out at the universe.

"Because I go to YouTube to find a video on how to fix-"

"Why are you on my laptop though?" He finally managed to squeak, even though that was most definitely not even close to raging; it was just the poor, pathetic squeal of a man entirely metaphorically stripped.

"Mine needs to charge," she spat back as if that was a stupid question in the first place. "Going back to my point- I open it up and on the top of your playlists is this one: Mix0903. Which is filled with Korean boy bands." She leveled her eyes at him with the playful accusation. "Does that mean you have nine hundred and two other mixes of Korean pop music or are the others at least filled with the snooty music you've led us all to believe you actually like? I think Miles Davis would be rolling over in his grave-"

"Give me that!" Soul finally let some of his panic feed action rather than frozen fear as he sat up and grabbed for the laptop. Regardless of the implications, part of him wished for it to take a skyrocketing, crashing fall, shattering to bits just as his coolness had moments prior, but Maka had an iron grip on the machine. The only thing his movements earned him was Maka settling in his lap, leaning as far forward as she could manage with arms outstretched to keep the laptop from his grasp.

Yes, this position was in no way, shape, or form comfortable as her ass ground into his crotch, but at least Soul's body was more involved with the hysterics of her hitting play, of that stupid first song starting the emotional rollercoaster that he sat on at least once a week.

"BTS, Soul, seriously," Maka teased through twittering giggles. "Dimple? Do you know the dance for this? Please, please, tell me you do!"

"There's no dance," he groaned as he attempted to wrap an arm around her waist, hugging her closer so that his other hand could hopefully stretch far enough to the spacebar to at least stop the torture. Instead, he was left cursing Maka's flexibility, the tuck of her waist still leaving it out of his grasp.

"OK, OK, next!" Maka clicked a button. "Who's WOODZ?"

"You wouldn't know 'im," Soul grumbled.

"Ugh, even with K-Pop you're an insufferable hipster. You wouldn't know him, he's so underground," she added as she put on her best Soul impression.

He sucked his teeth as he heard the click again.

"OK, Shinee's a classic, Soul," Maka interrupted herself for laughter again. "But this one's a little creepy, isn't it? With all my body baby- I'll crash into you- So that I can feel- Every little thing with you."

Soul huffed.

Another click.

"VIXX?" Peels of laughter left her again. "Oh, and look at the collars, Soul! Are you serious? Is that going to be a new fashion look for you?"

As if I need more jokes from Black Star about bein' on a leash, Soul sighed.

Another click. "Worship U?"

This was spiraling out of control and Soul's only hope with the insufferable length of her reach was to let his head fall in defeat between her shoulder blades.

"If you think giving up already is going to save you from teasing…" Maka started but the words trailed off, overwhelmed by the song.

"I won't stop, never

Until the end of my life

Don't stop forever

Without wavering like this

Now don't worry, worry, worry

I will protect you-"

The line cut off quickly as Maka clicked again.

Soul's hand tensed around her wrist.

"BTS again." She was trying to laugh but it came out a little too breathy.

"Why is it so dark when you're not here

It's dangerous how wrecked I am

Save me because I can't get a grip on myself"

The arm around her waist pulled, and Maka allowed her back to curl into his chest, the laptop now well within his reach. He moved his head to hover just over her shoulder, eyes on the screen. Instead of grasping for it, his hands were busy on her skin, trying to hold her as much as he was holding the words he'd listened to a million times.

Another click.

"Even though I like you, nobody knows

Even when I see other girls, nobody's like you

I'm sorry for having no courage

You can laugh at me all you want

I'm a loser who loves you

Yes, I'm a misery

To you, I'm a nuisance, I'm an outsider

"Don't know why you'd listen to that," Maka murmured. "You're such a cool guy, right?"

Soul couldn't help but feel the sting of it, even if her voice was warbly and barely above a breath.

Another click.

"I won't ever let you go again

I'll hold you, we'll be together forever

I'll cover your beautiful eyes so you won't go anywhere

I'll trap you inside of me"

Say it, Soul wanted to spit out the venom from between his teeth. It's possessive. It's awful. It's too much. That's what it feels like sometimes. Too much. It's selfish.

Instead, in the silence that came with the song cutting off, he got one more click.

"It's the last one."

"After that," he barely squeezed out the words as he pressed his face into her hair, "you gonna leave me alone?"

"If a shadow covers your light

I can't see

I get confused again

Will I be able to protect you?

I'm afraid"

"That was…" Maka forced a long, slow breath. "Soul, it wasn't your nine-hundred-and-third playlist, was it?"

He let out a weak laugh as he started to loosen his hold on her, his hand trying to slip away.

"September third." Maka grabbed his hand on retreat, tangling his fingers with hers. "The day we met, right?"

"Yeah," he muttered.

"And I- I actually have a dimple?"

Soul cleared his throat. "Sorta."

"Sorta," Maka echoed. Suddenly her fingers were clacking on the keyboard, hitting the enter with extra vigor. "I don't have a list, but listen."

"How much time

are you gonna spend worrying? question

I'm preparing to go to war

with the things that bother you, yes sir

My mood changes according to yours

I get so mad when I see you sad

Like a wave crashing on sand, erase it all

Maka pushed the laptop forward and out of her hands, the song still trickling along to the chorus as she turned her head over her shoulder. "So, are you going to look at me?"

Soul leaned, letting his eyes meet hers with a searching stare.

"You always protect me." She shook her head softly, tossing his ridiculous worry aside. "And I doubt GOT7 had the kind of protection you offer in mind when they wrote that song." Maka tapped her knuckle below his shoulder where his shirt hid that blaring white scar. "You shouldn't listen to some playlist of boy bands mourning how they can't have the girl they love or they're afraid about treating her right when you do." Green eyes hit his, a plea from them, her soul, and her mouth hitting him in the face, "Tell me you do."

"That I…?"

"Stop worrying, and tell me," Maka murmured, saturated in her own fears even as she was asking him to throw away his.

"It's not just…" He sighed as he flexed his fingers in hers. "It's not just because we're meister and weapon, Maka, it's not-"

"I know," she pressed. "Can you just channel their energy for just one second and be cute and romantic?"

Soul's eyebrows shot up. "But, I-"

"Am bad at this," Maka sighed. "Fine. Soul Evans, if you can't put it into words can you at least-?"

He quickly pressed his lips to her cheek, derailing the rest of her thought entirely. Before his lips had even disengaged, Soul was squeezing his eyes shut, ready for the standard Maka-chop to clobber him into next week. When it didn't come, he knocked his forehead against her shoulder, turning his face to rest it against the warmth of her neck.

Maka reached up awkwardly to run her fingers over his hair, letting out a sweet sigh in the process. "That'll work." She giggled to herself as she reached for the laptop again. "But I want a new playlist. It's better when we make music together, right?"
