at this point it's becoming almost commonplace for artists to do redraws of my garashir memes. i think it's great and i love them, but half the time i don't see them for ages bc they don't tag me - and they usually don't even reference the fact that it's based on a specific meme by a specific person, altho recently someone did actually repost my meme alongside the art, but without clarifying they didn't make both.

i think in most cases its bc people probably just right click save any memes they like and don't really remember who made them, which is the nature of memes. and i do realize fundamentally all i am doing is mashing a post that someone else made on top of a screencap from a 30 year old show. the artists are making ACTUAL art. all the same, it's fairly common practice in general for artists to post and credit their pose references and inspo sources - so it does feel, idk? a little strange that the memes i make are never ever acknowledged as inspo sources. i really like some of the artists that have done this, so i've never addressed it here bc it feels bitchy and also bc it feels like im demanding credit for low effort shitposts which isn't my intention at all. but this is a small fandom so it's impossible not to notice, you know? am i insane for even noticing this or caring at all?

internet linguistics are interesting bc it develops differently depending on the fandom/app you’re on.

like blorbo, bias, fav, ult, and stan are all ways to refer to your favorite person/character/thing but often times there is a “correct” one to use.

(all of these examples are just based on my personal experience with the general usage of these words, so there could easily be words/fandoms/usages I haven’t come across)

for example when talking abt my favorite bsd character on tumblr, i could use fav or blorbo and no one would bat an eye, but it would be weird to use the term blorbo on insta or tiktok. this is probably because the word blorbo originated from a tumblr meme so other social media platforms have no context for the word or its definition/use. altho there are no strict rules for it blorbo seems to generally but used to talk about fictional characters from any type of media while on tumblr.

bias is rly interesting to me bc it seems to pretty much only be used as a synonym for fav within the kpop community (obv im not in every fandom ever so there could be an example im missing but im talking abt general use here) using bsd as an example again, i would never unironically say “Sigma is my bias” regardless of which app i was using because Sigma isn’t real, he doesnt care what i say about him, whether he’s my fav, idc abt him, or i hate him, but artists are real people who can be affected by hate, so bias at first glance appears to be a way to say who your fav irl ppl/celebs/artists are without causing any misunderstandings. (ex. saying “Yeosang is my bias” is a way to say “Yeosang is my fav ateez member” without unintentionally implying i think negatively of the rest of the group) however looking further into it, it for some reason sounds off if someone were to say “Margo Robbie is my bias” even tho it would imply you prefer her work over the work of other actresses. My guess is that within kpop there are set bands/groups with consistent members, so saying “Yeosang is my bias” means “out of these specific 8 people I like, my favorite is Yeosang” meanwhile “Margo Robbie is my bias” is too broad. There are countless actors/actresses you could pick from to compare her to, all of which work on different projects with different genres/themes, think of them as their industry’s equivalent of solo artists. You can have a fav solo artist but the word bias doesn’t tend to fit as well because you’re not saying “I like the group and I prefer _____” youre just saying “I like _____” bias appears to stay a consistent part of kpop culture no matter what platform you participate on.

the last word I wanna throw in here is fav. fav is like the baseline. no matter the app/fandom fav is the simple/non-offensive way to say “I like/prefer this thing” even if it can sound a bit odd sometimes and ppl may say “hey in ____ fandom we use _____ to say fav” no one gets mad or upset when fav is used. since it’s just shorthand for favorite, it’s like the base point that all these other words have evolved from

oh my god . okay i havent complained abt it in a while but since december 2021 when i got covid for the first* time (*you’ll see) ive been getting dizzy/lightheaded a lot, have random coughing fits, am even more sensitive to heat (i cant breathe in hot cars Like i start choking which was already a thing bc asthma but its worse now), and have frequently almost passed out after walking around for too long or just after standing up. (idk how many times ive actually passed out bc i cant remember really but its happened at least once). at first i chalked it up to Being Out Of Exercize and then i was like wait this isnt normal. and i wasnt eating well at the time and brushed it off as that but it continued even after i started eating somewhat better (altho it was a little less bad)

anyway eventually i was like yeah i probably have long covid or smth (also have pots symptoms guessing caused by covid) but i dont have a doctor (& dont know how to get one & dont have money & dont have transportation) so i havent been officially tested for anything

but the one thing that kept me from being like yes this is definitely bc of covid is in my senior year of highschool (started in sept 2020) (a year i have very few memories from so hard to compare symptoms) i remembered always being super out of breath + dizzy + lightheaded after walking up the stairs to my classes on the second floor. like id have to stand there for a second and breathe n shit and my friend was like “thats not good u should tell ur doctor” . but yeah i was like well maybe its just asthma and im exaggerating and its always been like this

WELL. i just remembered. in february 2020 i had this really awful cold. oone of the worst id ever had. coughing my fucking lungs up, couldnt breathe well, everytthing tasted weird. it lasted abt 2 weeks. You can see where this is goingg. i literally remember my mom saying like “wouldnt it be fucked up if tbat awful cold u had a couple months ago was covid” during like may2020.

and EARLY 2020 IS WHEN MY SYMPTOMS STARTED. and they got worse for a couple months and then stayed the same and i guess i got used to it UNTIL. i got covid in dec2021.

My first sad headcanon was Chandelure pulling a Hachiko, the loyal Japanese Akita who waited around 9 years at the train station his owner would come back from work on after his owner passed away. Just Chandelure staying by the Singles Line even though she knows Ingo isn’t emerging. Another was my thought that they wouldn’t have a perfect happy reunion ending but Emmet would get closure. Like Ingo’s ghost appearing at either Celestial Tower or Gear Station, most likely still having choppy memories but being pulled here because of that feeling. He could be a side quest ghost like the trainer school girl or vessa, a plot twist where at first it looked like he made it home but hen it’s revealed he’s a ghost, or even a Pokémon fight like Marowak(be it fighting him, Emmet, or even Ingo fighting alongside Emmet a final time) but any form ending with him being put to rest(unless you are that one dream I had where he stayed as a worker but his model was growing purple still) while Emmet gets closure, finally knowing what happened to Ingo while being comforted by him being at peace so he move forward himself.

Then there’s the fan favorite Yamask theory. Yamask’s dex entries go on about how it “game from a bygone age,” how it “is searching for someone who recognizes its face.” There’s also the mask having the constant frown, debuting in Unova, and little things like this line from Ingo: “it must be difficult being a Pokémon, don’t you think? Especially one as irritable as Electrode.” Or his ace being a ghost type(their aces types are supposed to represent the dragons. Ingo has fire for Reshiram since it’s the older brother who had truth, and Emmet has electric for Zekrom. Why they have opposite colors is because they are the circles inside yin and Yang, but because of it people tend to put Ingo with Zekrom and Emmet with Reshiram. But now that Ingo is centuries in the past, that ghost type is making sense now lol) or how Gamefreak likes showing some on the dex entries in the story like Cubone, Hypno, or Guzzlord. So the theory states that Ingo dies in the past and comes back as a Yamask, possibly appearing as one in the remakes(Cofagrigus is confirmed to forget its former life completely upon evolution, so everstone him) and having a lot of fanart on tumble and Twitter. What can I say, Gamefreak opened itself up to angst

Ah. I must admit I have seen the Yamask thing going around before, but I think that more than a theory it was just someone's AU that got a lot of traction bc, well. Angst. The submas fandom so loves its angst. Besides, you said it yourself. The Cofagrigus forgets all about its human life, so...

Altho, wasn't the Celestial tower's bell meant to let the spirits rest? Just, picture Emmet after they finally confirm Ingo as dead and he goes there to ring the bell, symbolizing the end of his grief (kinda), his determination to keep going even now when Ingo's not around, and Ingo's spirit/ghost being able to finally move on because it was due to Emmet that he was still lingering around.

Ah, so bittersweet, so sad. Darn.
