Hi, Friend!!! Thank you for these delightful suggestions. I definitely lol’d over the first one. As per usual this did not go where I thought, sooo… enjoy! 💙

Stevie doesn’t remember exactly when Jake showed up in Schitt’s Creek. The details are, like most of her youthful memories, a bit hazy. All she knows is at some point he did what Jake does - appeared out of thin air, made himself at home, and went about living his easy, breezy life.

In a town this small, it didn’t take them long to encounter each other. Stevie doesn’t trust most people, but she feels safe with him. He doesn’t demand, well, anything in exchange for his time. She never feels pressured to do more than simply exist when they’re together. And she likes that he never apologizes for who he is or how he conducts himself. Not like there’s anything remotely objectionable. Well, there is the whole kissing on the mouth as a greeting situation. That’s definitely weird at the very least.

Stevie pushes the door open to the shop. Inside Jake is hunched over a power saw, carefully marking a board for measurements. She waits patiently, silently appreciating the way his muscles flex, and the miles of tan skin on display. They’ve never had sex or even had a makeout session, but she’s heard the stories about him. It’s been far too long since she had her needs met, so the urge to suddenly lick the bead of sweat on his collarbone isn’t exactly surprising.

“Stevie! I didn’t hear you come in.” He tucks the pencil behind his ear, already making his way over to her. “Good to see you.”

She means to return the greeting (minus the kiss on each cheek), but what comes out instead is, “So, what’s your deal?”

Jake scratches his head, looking appropriately puzzled. “Uh, excuse me?”

“You’re attractive, perpetually single, and have a reputation around town for being some kind of alleged sex god.”

“Not how I’d put it, but yeah, I do pretty well,” he says through a chuckle, planting his hands on his hips. “What’s it to you?”

“Maybe I just wanted to find out if the rumors were true,” she answers, shrugging her shoulders in an attempt to feign nonchalance.

”Right.” He hooks a finger under her chin, tilting her head up. His eyes appear darker, a little wilder. Stevie’s pulse starts to race. The featherlight touch on her skin, that singular point of contact, seems to set every nerve ending on fire. She’s already restless to touch and be touched everywhere. “So, was that enough to satisfy your curiosity?”

They’ve drifted even closer, leaving millimeters of space between them. Their lips are nearly touching, all she would have to do is sway the tiniest bit forward to take what she wants.

“You know what?” She murmurs, her hand instinctively reaching out, pressing on the solid wall of muscle beneath his thin undershirt, sliding up, up, up to his chest. “I think I’m gonna need a bit more.���

Good Vibes Tuesday

I'm in the mood for some positivity this morning, so let's share something that makes you happy about fandom*. It can be anything you like-a person or blog you appreciate, a post that made you laugh, a fic you liked, anything that puts good vibes into the world.

This could not have come at a better time, so thank you @a-noble-dragon and @jesuisici33 for tagging me.

I have heard that the SC fandom comes into your life at the time you need it most. This was certainly the case for me. I found AO3 and read fics that allowed to me to continue to follow David and Patrick from pre-canon, post-canon, AUs, and everything else in between. And then something inside me said that I could write, too. I have met so many wonderful writers that I admired, and now call friends. Without their encouragement, I would not be on this ride I have grown to love so much. Those first interactions, those first words of encouragement meant the world to me. The support I have found in this community is unlike anything I have experienced before.

Inspiration Saturday

Thank you @hippolotamus I loved your one it was beautiful. Wasn’t gonna do any more of these then those gif sets of Ryan in Armed went around and I got inspired and made a decision I’ve been on a fence about (Should Sir Eddie get a beard at some point in the fic for plot reasons.)

In an effort to procrastinate on my Inexplicable Babies challenge fic, I pulled an old exes to lovers au wip out yesterday to play with, so here's some of that 😂

Eddie leaned in the doorway and watched as Chris added another book to the pile on his bed.  When he looked torn and moved to grab another one, Eddie laughed and walked into the room.

“Come on kiddo, when are you going to read all these books, huh?  There’s going to be so much for you to do at camp.  You’ll be too busy to read.”

“Dad, I can’t go away for two weeks without books.  What if I get bored?”

With a snort, Eddie gathered up the pile of books and sat on the bed.  “Yeah, ok but let’s not take half of your bookshelf buddy.  Pick three and get them packed.  It’s time for bed.”

Full disclosure, this slice of absolute silliness was written as a glorious gift for me, personally, but I highly recommend it to anyone who needs something to make them smile. It also now has an accompanying podfic!

Rec [written by doingthemost]: I didn't know I needed Twyla as Taylor Swift until suddenly, we had it. Seriously, if you're at all a Taylor Swift fan or a Twylexis fan—bonus if you're both, of course!—this is the fic for you. It's a pitch perfect AU (pun intended!) and so much fun.

WIP Wednesday

Thanks to @rmd-writes for the tag.

Patrick blinks awake, his head pounding as he squints against the light. “David—?” The thought of his husband brings everything crashing back—the soft kisses in the kitchen and then chaos as his world dropped out from under him. He’d fought the agents all the way up the driveway until there’d been a tiny pinprick and darkness overtook him. 

Struggling to his feet, he takes in his surroundings, pacing the perimeter of the small room. Cell. It’s definitely a cell. The walls are made of plastic because of course they fucking are. Being trapped inside what’s basically a plastic box makes his skin crawl. He kicks at the door but it doesn’t even leave a mark. This is all his fault. He’d known he was living every day on borrowed time, but David made him feel safe. So he’d pushed it aside like always, because where to even begin to explain, and now he’s in a fucking cell. 

David must be losing his mind.

Seven Sentence Sunday

“New rule,” Patrick announced on their eleventh turn, “You have to tell a truth that you’ve never told another living soul.”

“Does it count if you’ve told it to a non-living soul?”

“Uh David, do you see dead people?” Patrick teased. “Because you could have saved that truth for the game.”

David pretended to laugh before transitioning quickly to what he thought was a withering glare, but Patrick was still smiling, so maybe not. “Throw your stupid rock already.”

Patrick obliged, and the rock took a wicked hop off the sand, rolling toward the outside edge of the larger circle.

David’s throw was closer, obviously, because he wasn’t a complete chump, and he crossed his arms to await what utterly stimulating truth Patrick had never told anyone else, ever.

Patrick trotted up to the target to retrieve his stone then made his way back to David’s side.

A long moment passed before Patrick finally spoke. “I’m gay.”

Teaser Tuesday

I love that you did this @obsessedwithdavrick, and thank you for the tag. I'm still dealing with some personal garbage, and still using my writing to escape it, even if it is for a little bit. I have two projects I'm actively working on, and this teaser is one I am looking forward to finishing at some point.

The night before he was to get his hair colored, David stared at himself in the mirror after finishing his skin care regimen. He noticed the laugh lines around his eyes he knew Patrick and Stevie were responsible for, and he didn't hate them. He noticed the flecks of gray in his five o'clock shadow. He noticed the beginnings of gray at his temples signaling it was time for a touch-up. 

He was so afraid of looking too much like his dad growing up. He got contacts as soon as he could, kept his unruly magnificent eyebrows groomed, begged and cried for a nose job, and started his skincare regime well before he was teen. 

If he allowed himself to gray, there would be no denying he was Johnny Rose's son.

But, would that be such a bad thing? His father was a well respected businessman, and in the last decade has proven to be a loving father. 

So… Maybe, just maybe, he could give it a try.

And by give it a try, he means not to do the touch-up.
