Welcome to my end of March 2024 update.

At last the weight is starting to build again. I’ve added 3lbs this last week and my body seems to be demanding more and more food on a daily basis.

Since changing my insulin dosages I am getting softer and flabbier and my love for growing my body has reached a new level.

I’ve outgrown my 3xl t-shirts and some of me 4XL tops don’t cover my belly entirely. Time to look for 4XLT or possibly even 5XLT so I have room to grow in to.

I set-up a StoryGraph account a few years ago largely because Amazon is evil (and the recent GoodReads YA thing emphasized that decision for me) BUT

The result of actually using it made me realize I only read nine books in 2022

Which would be fine if that was all I'd wanted to read but it was not

The Magpie Brain Was Killing My Fun! 😡🤬💢

So I signed up for a couple StoryGraph challenges (and completed them!) with a total goal of 26 books for 2023...

and it worked! I read THIRTY SEVEN !!Actual Books! (Ok mostly novellas so don't look at the word count but anyway! Still a yay!)🎇🎉🤩

I beat the Magpie Brain ™️ by distracting it with *graphs* 📈 🤣 and the little fire emoji I get on my home page for a reading streak 🔥

So for 2024 my goal is 52 books!

(And also to try and actually talk about books more, but I haven't decided how to make that a qualitative goal yet. Suggestions?)

The other mental (& physical) health thing I've been trying to pay more attention to is a virtual race app... as in I put my daily steps in and it tells me how far I got on Easter Island or across the Ukraine or something depending on what I signed up for

(it's pretty effective! I have twenty medals scattered around the house from the past few years! but sometimes I'd do three "races" in a row and walk all over the place and then do nothing for a month besides be a potato, so it was very inconsistent)

Thus I made my goal for the whole of 2023 to be 730 miles, so I'd average out walking two miles a day regardless of when I did which race.

And I MADE IT! (On Dec 29th! 😅 I had a whole two days to spare!)

So this year I am progressing up to a *three* mile a day average. WHICH IS 1,095 MILES. 👀

(Technically it's 1,098mi because 2024 is a leap year, but I'm giving myself a grace day and also a nicer number.)

So those are both things I'm going to try and talk more about on here this year! Whee! Books & Walking! Sounds pretty good, tbqh. 💚💚💚

But also I don't want to overdo it so today specifically all I did was play Garden Story while the husband played God of War (Ragnarok) 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for sending this to me anon lol. So 3BP spent the weekend getting beat by a true crime show and just barely hit #1 for like 2 days only to be beaten by a new Moses series that did something 3 Booty Problem couldn't do which was debut at #1....

Not a good look for them. I know Easter is this week but still....if 3BP had legs and hype then it's viewership should be increasing not decreasing but fact is seems like general audiences just don't give af. Also that GOT audience that Netflix hoped would come back...did not lol. GOT backlash still going strong.

Unfortunately though even with low viewership I still think it's possible 3BP could get a second season because of that overall contract Netflix has with Dumb and Dumber. Netflix could also choose to save the show just to save face since everyone knows it's their most expensive show to date just like Amazon did with Rings of Power which cost 1 billion to make but flopped with viewership with only a 37% completion rate. So they'd be failing upwards again. Either way I won't be watching no matter what and Game of Thrones still sucks and S8 is still universally hated thanks to Dumb and Dumber. The end.

Craft Goals for 2023

Upcoming Craft Goals for 2023:

January: Finish the Big Boba Fett Cross Stitch and get it framed.  Hope to have the stitching done by the end of January.  Framing will take longer since I still have to find a good frame.  (I’ve found some good frames for other projects at Goodwill, still looking for the right one for this one).

February:  Gingerbread Tree Skirt.  This is a pattern from the Crochet Crowd and Yarnspirations, and the yarn has already been purchased.  The hope is to have a full-sized Christmas tree next year, so this is the skirt that will be used for it.

March: I bought all the supplies, um, before the pandemic to make a spring wreath and I never even unpacked the box.  I want to actually do it.

I picked different colors when the silk flowers were on sale, but hell if I remember which I chose, so I guess I have a surprise in April.  It was pastel but not pink.

April: I found some sock yarn I still haven’t used so this spring I want to knit a pair of socks for me.  I also expect to be doing some yard work so I’m not planning anything bigger than that.  Hopefully I will find my sock needles by April.  They are . . . somewhere.

May: I bought an embroidery kit at ALDI sometime during the pandemic and I want to actually start using it.  I already know how to cross stitch but other than a kit I never finished sometime in the 2000′s the last time I learned to do embroidery was in sixth grade home economics class.  Eventually I want to put together enough supplies to cross stitch and embroider regularly.  Friends IRL, expect thready gifts in the future.

July:  July is going to inevitably be hot, so it may be time to break out the rock painting kit I bought and stop trying to work with textiles.  Yes, I’ve been buying kits because I haven’t had the brain space to buy supplies and everything is ready when I am.  I also purchased this one from ALDI (this year.  I was about to buy a second identical embroidery kit and realized I already had one at home).  I have no idea what I will do with them, but we’ll see if I like it.

August: I have a knock off Diamond Dots kit and August seems like a good month to try that.  It’s supposed to be similar to cross stitch, but again, no textiles in the heat.  If I like it, I already have a few more kits that I bought on sale/on a whim/for free shipping on amazon. Those can be considered in 2024.

September-December:  When fall comes Christmas is just around the corner.  I want to keep some time available to start doing holiday gifts, but I hope to do some craft painting.  I’ve got quite a few ceramic ornaments to paint that I’ve collected over the years, so I can work on those.  I also used to make marbled glass ornaments and fall is a good time to do that because they can take weeks to dry but only need to be turned 1-2 times a day so it’s good to make a bunch at once.  Also I will be doing Inktober again, so that covers October.
