– Every new episode of YPHOT gives me new challenges: Should I take the flag of the country the artists are living in? Or the one they are born in? Or should I choose it according to the language they speak? I’m happy that I didn’t find a general solution for this, because the purpose of this series is to show you the global diversity. Music is the perfect example that no one can be reduced to a nationality and that there is no need to have unnecessary borders in our minds or elsewhere. Music is communication! Music is community! Only french information can be found about him. I think it’s remarkable that this song really gets me dancing even if it has just a few elements.   (IT): PRIESTESS – „Maria Antonietta“ (Prod. Ombra & PK) I would describe this song as a dramatic pink emotion. The French Queen Marie Antoinette got executed by guillotine. Hopefully Priestess doesn’t lose her head as well.   (RU): FACE – Бляяя Фэйс Вот Ты Флексишь (prod. by hellasketchy) No Facebook in Russia? But they seem to have summer. No matter – it sounds like eating ice cream, walking bare feet on the sand with the warm sun on the skin and a catchy tune in your ear.   (GB): Sona – Ginger Ginger is a British-Nigerian London based artist. If I can see and feel that he s convinced and happy about his own song I can share these emotions. I would sign a petition for more choreos in music videos.   (GER): Leroy Menace – Headshakin‘ (prod. by Plusma & Leroy Menace) I’m convinced that this song can be heard world wide. There is only one word that I recognized which reminded me of his German relations, the rest is perfect English. He is from Hamburg.   (FR): Siboy – Au revoir merci This song feels like buying a machete, giving away all your belongings, smashing heads with your elbow and leaving civilisation by going into the jungle. And the video looks like that as well.   (US): Xela – One Chance In the first draft of this episode this song was not included. But there is so much happiness and positivity that I have to include it. Drake just has to do a Remix and the song will be everywhere.   (NL): Leafs – Alright ft. Yung Nnelg (prod. Ramiks) Another one for the summer. I really like the visuals in the video. This episode’s picture of me was taken in the same „desert“ as this video is. Julian Malone - "Enemy: The Time & Loves Of Malone"

    Schiebt es auf die Einöde der Bremer Vororte, die ich allmorgendlich mit der hassenswerten Regio-S-Bahn durchstreifen muss. Schiebt es auf meine unaufhörliche Vorliebe für „M.B.D.T.F.“. Aber momentan zeckt mich Electric Wire Hustle-Hokus Pokus ein Bisschen mehr an, als der nächste Boombap-Bomber aus dem Dunstkreis von Statik Selektah. Chicagos Next-To-Blow-MC Julian Malone ist gerade mal 20 Jahre alt, aber produced, engineert und rappt schon auf einem ganz anderen Planeten. Abgesehen von seinem derzeitigen kleinen Blog-Hype um die “Eighty“-Trilogie, hat der umtriebige Bube schon eine Reihe von recht ambitionierten Mixtapes rausgehauen („Upstate Rebel Rollin'“, „Upstate Rebel Rollin' 2“, „A Star Is Born“ und „Major: The Mind & Moods Of Ju“). Allesamt dümplen bei ca. 100 Downloads - Untergrund, aber alles andere als unter aller Sau (word to Samy). "Enemy: The Time & Loves Of Malone" gleicht einer audiophilen Reise per Anhalter durch die Galaxis. Auf dem Rücken von beinharten Drumbreaks wird Synthpop-Pixel-Schrott, Geschunkel à la Weldon Irvine und Indierock vebraten, als hätte es Scheuklappen nie gegeben. Mit eigenständigem Flow, prägnanter Stimme und dem Herz am rechten Fleck vergisst Julian dabei gottseidank nie wie echter Beat und ein echter Rap zu klingen hat. Trotzdem ist das hier eher nichts fürs UGHH-Forum - „I'm just a Malone/ I'm in my own zone“, heißt es dazu auf „Zonin“. Das pseudo-philosophische „Graveyard“ tendiert zwar leicht Richtung Ritter der Schwafelrunde, aber sobald Julian sich meines Lieblingsstücks von Little Dragon annimmt um über das Hin und Her seines Familien- bzw. Rapper-Lebens zu sinnieren, bin ich ihm wieder wohlgesonnen. Da bahnt sich gerade ein interessantes Rap-Jahr an. Odd Future-Scheiß.
