I'm constantly intrigued by excavations that uncover what used to be really important and booming settlements that completely disappear from the records, written, oral, and archaeological, particularly ones that were in existence for a considerable amount of time.

The new poems of the forthcoming 'Star Carr' set explore the complex relationships we assert upon found objects, both past and present. Ancient artefacts tell us as much about ourselves now as they do any imagined past.

I like how Metropolis is supposed to be this huge world city (based in part on Toronto, apparently), but that one of the posited locations for it is in Delaware. Alternate universe where Delaware has ten times its current population and is the eighth most populous state in the union.

[ day 1 : introduction ]
"Hi there, I'm Az- er, Persephone! I seem to have gotten turned around, do you think you could point me in the direction of Amaurot?"
"Ama-what? No idea where that is, Miss. You could try checking in Limsa, maybe some traveler will know. Might wanna leave the mask though, people aren't like to trust a woman who won't show her face."

Roman Corbridge Hoard, The British Museum, London
These 160 gold aureus coins were found below the floor of a Roman house in Corbridge in 1911. They were stored in a bronze jug, their true value hidden by two bronze coins wedged in its neck. When the jug was lifted out of the ground, the weight of the gold broke it, revealing the hoard.
