Donna gas a trans daughter, would commit murder to protect said daughter

Doctor has a discussion about assuming pronouns

Isaac Newton played by a person of color

UNIT’s scientific advisor is an ambulatory wheelchair user

The doctor gets killed by a universe breaking deity who takes the form of Neil Patrick Harris acting fruity

Doctor decides Donna’s daughter is his niece now

Doctor is a new guy but he’s still gay and he’s black now

The new companion and him bond over being adopted

The doctor goes on a pro-choice allegory adventure

The new companion’s best friend is a different trans woman, trans woman is shown as lead singer of a band

The Doctor meets another evil deity, this time taking the form of a genderqueer drag queen who represents the evils of corporations hoarding music copyrights

The word “lesbian” is used for possibly the first time in the shows history, referring to the aforementioned trans singer

*This phantom life sharpens like an image (but it sharpens like a knive) This is the perfect fic. It isn't finished yet, and I'm honestly not sure anymore if it's a fix it or not, but it is great.

°In thee I delight A sweet little outsider!pov fic. Just something nice for the soul.

°It must be light wherever you are More of a multi-Doctor fic really (not at once), but there's some fourteen at the end.

13 x River:

°I'm Alive A short trilogy for when you need something funny and sweet.

°Love is not an emotion, it's a promise Again, multiple Doctors, but mainly 13. The Doctor refers to River as their 'little goddess'.

°5 Times The Doctor Talked About River Song With Graham (+1 Time The Fam Finally Met Her) It's in the title really. Very emotional. (Not as in sad necessarily, there are simply a lot of emotions).

°i am the distance you put between all of the moments that we will be Very lovely fic. Angstier than I thought tbh. So definetly something for when you want pain and longing. Has a happy ending though.

°You Know Who You Are and Yes You're Gonna Break Down This one's fun. They flirt, they dance, the Doctor's being gay... a bit of angst towards the end, but it gets resolved rather swiftly.

Of Handcuffs and Custard Creams Pure hilarity for when you need something to laugh about.

°she's got a smile that heals me Fix it happiness with a dash of angst and yearning, very sweet.

understanding I'm not sure how to describe this one. It is not necessarily Yaz bashing, it's just a lot of unrequited love. Very nice for when you're feeling vindictive after having to guess on every second fic on whether or not they're going to have the Doctors and Rivers marriage be open to sprinkle in some thasmin.

12 x River:

she blows out of nowhere, roman candle of the wild Human Au. Twelve is stood up on a date and River saves him. Banter and love at first sight ensure.

The Playwright and his muse Human Au. Twelve is a playwright in victorian(?) England, River Melody becomes his muse. A beautiful trilogy.

*But she prefers two lumps of sugar and tea Human Au. Twelve is the most grumpy barista that the world has ever seen, River does not put up with it. He immediatly falls in love, yet continues to be an idiot.

°Are we dancing after death, you and I? River gave the Doctor her regeneration energy, he becomes downright addicted. Angst, yearning, sweetness.

°I use the stars to find you This is just fluff and sapiness and domesticity. Like a long, warm, comforting hug.

*And if I get burned, at least we were electrified Sweet, hot smut. Twelve grows a beard.

*The voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses River has a praise kink. Very hot, and more emotional than it sounds. (Again, emotional does not mean sad. It just means... emotional).

Writing between the lines Have you ever wondered what elevens regeneration would've been like with River around? Well, wonder no longer! Here it is.

11 x River:

*°And all in war with Time for love of you The very first Doctorriver fic I ever read. A beautiful fix-it fic.

*though my eyes stare inward now at where you were Such a great fic. I won't spoil much because the riddle of it all is half the fun the first time around (for me it was, at least).

°Hold infinity in the palm of your hand The Doctor and River post dying. Very fun, very sweet. They're just so married (literally).

*heart swells like water A rewrite (or write along?) of 'Day of the moon' that fills in all the smutty gaps.

gazing into the abyss The Doctor has the last of the Mr. Clever residues fucked out of him by River. Very hot. River literally manages to seduce a robot. Not that we ever doubted her capability to do that.

To force them apart This might very well not be your cup of tea. I have a weakness for dark!Doctorriver.

°moved from day into night to be near you Steven Moffat had a very specific vision of how he wanted River and the Doctors story to end completly. This vision is sadly not canon. This vision is this fic.

Sharing Names This fic is amazing. It forever ingrained the headcanon in me that time lord names are telepathic.

Accomplice A fun little drabble. Hints of dark!Doctorriver.

a love that even time will lie down and be still for This one is so sweet! The Doctor is everything little Mels wanted in a partner.

and i'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Human AU. River is very much in love with one John Smith. This one has a bit of everything. Fluff, flirting, angst...

10 x River:

*competition This one's a (very hot) revenge on the Doctorrose shippers who put works in the Doctorriver tags that are very mean to River. Maybe not your cup of tea.

9 x River:

°*Where I've been It's been a while since I've read this one, but I remember that it was incredible, so there's that.

Worth living for River helps the Doctor heal after the time war. Very sweet, if I remember correctly.

Multi-Doctor x River:

All in Your Head There are three Doctors (+ companions) in the TARDIS at once. River decides to be a telepathic tease. Very, very funny.

°Glad We're Here This is one of the funniest fics I've ever read. There are two Doctors (technically three, but thirteen misses the main action) and two Rivers. Lot's of timey wimey shenanigans ensue. It is so funny.

°*There is a love I reminisce This fic is wonderful. It includes eleven and eight and mentions a lot of the Doctorriver encounters featured in the audioplays. I'll admit, the ending somewhat confuses me, but that's probably nothing that couldn't be fixed with a reread. Lots of timey-wimey stuff.

Hey, other Chibnall era/13th Doctor fans, a word in your ear?

I get the annoyance that y'all are feeling at all the people going "oh, Rogue was so much better than anything with Yaz and Thirteen, this is such better rep etcetera etcetera" - I feel that same annoyance. Having our favorite era constantly being shit on and being compared (negatively) to the current era is horrible and obnoxious and annoying, and I really wish people would stop doing it! Trust me, I am entirely in your court on this. If Thirteen has a million defenders I am one and if she has one defender I am one and if she has none I'm dead or however that meme goes - you get what I mean.

But you know what's EQUALLY shitty?

Defending Chibnall's era by going down gender essentialist or homophobic roads. WLW (or lesbian or queer women's or whatever term you'd prefer) relationships are not inherently more deep or emotional than MLM/queer men's/gay/etc just by dint of the gender of the participants. You can have women in fucky, weird horny relationships with each other and men in deep, emotionally resonant but not demonstrative relationships with each other.

15/Rogue and 13/Yaz are two very different relationships, with two different iterations of the same character. 13 as a character is an open wound - she had just lost her best friend and seen her companion cyber converted and died trying to save a group of people in a move that was ultimately futile. This on the aftermath of losing people and losing people and losing people (Donna, the Ponds, Clara), from losing Gallifrey, from discovering that she wasn't who she thought she was due to the Timeless Child. To say nothing of the Flux.

To say nothing of the fact that by the time we get to Legend of the Sea Devils, 13 literally knows she is going to die.

TIME: You can leave here, but you won't outrun me. Your time is heading to its end. DOCTOR: No, it's not. You're wrong. TIME: Nothing is forever. No regeneration, no life. Beware of the forces that mass against you. (sotto) And their Master. DOCTOR: What do you mean? What do you mean, their Master? TIME: I restore you, Doctor. Reunify you. But for how long?

Thirteen is a person who knows she is going to die, who wants to love and wants to care for people, but is so afraid of how much it will hurt them when she dies, of how much it will hurt her knowing that they're hurting. She's in pain and she's sad and she loves Yaz but she can't let herself take that risk, can't do something that cruel. She loves so hard and so much, and she says "If it were anyone, it would be you" because she has to let Yaz know that if she COULD, she WOULD, but she can't. She can't pass that pain on, she can't open herself up like that, she can't take that risk.

Their romance is a tragic one, and I eat it up with a spoon because that is the kind of yearning adoration that makes me want to die (positive).

Fifteen is not in pain.

Fifteen is, by his own admission, someone who's gone through rehab. We can argue about how much of that is just the Doctor being the Doctor (so a lot is beneath the surface), but he is a lot more emotionally open. More than being emotionally open, he seems utterly and intensely dedicated to having FUN, look how much FUN he's having (he really is taking after 13, I love it).

Him and Rogue were two strangers who met each other in an adventure and had a fun connection. Utterly different vibe to Yaz and Thirteen - not better, not worse, just different. And yes, it's resonating with people in a different way because it is a different dynamic!

(It didn't do anything for me, but I'm not interested in M/M. I'm glad for the people who are enjoying it!)

You can definitely tell people off for being obnoxious about your preferred ship without diving into gender essentialism. I promise. I have faith in you. You can do it.

Both River Song and Clara Oswald are Bisexual: River says 12 reminds her of her second wife, which is hilarious given that he’s about to regenerate into 13; and Clara tells her class that Jane Austen is an excellent kisser

Bill’s life is literally saved by the power of Lesbians. Don’t believe the Toymaker’s lies, she and Heather are off exploring the universe together

I wish Yaz/13 was better written because their characters are such an excellent odd couple. The yearning tho, undeniable

The underlying lesbiphobia in the way queerness in Doctor Who is discussed is so disheartening. General viewers and the media will really talk about the new season like its breaking all this new queer ground. I wasn't even that big on yaz/13 because you could tell the whole thing wasn't thoughtfully written, but the Doctor was a woman in love with a woman for at least 2 seasons. Also note the underlying misogynoir in the case of people not acknowledging Bill Potts, the series' only Black lesbian companion who kissed her girlfriend in the series finale of the season and dated women ON SCREEN. The racism AND lesbiphobia in these relationships not being acknowledged is so apparent. None of this is to say that the kiss between the Doctor and Rogue wasn't fucking awesome because it was but talking about it like its the first gay thing to ever happen in the show OR to the Doctor is laughable, incorrect, and erases SO MUCH.

Imagine if Yaz once just presses her forehead against 13′s because she remembers hearing the Doctor mention how that’s something Time Lords would do to show effect and connect with the ones they love, but when she does it she’s a bit flustered and does it quickly because she’s nervous djskh so and doing so she accidentally creates a little bit of a psychic link with the Doctor sjkdfah flooding the Doctor’s head with all of her gay yearnings jdkfsaj and then Yaz is like “ahem yes I’ll go get that tea” and walks out super fast and the Doctor is just sat there fuckin
