Anon! Sorry for the late reply; every time I start thinking about your ask I realise that I just love way too many cards aushdia Deuce’s Star Sending card is great, everyone’s outfits from this event are gorgeous; and Ace’s new card is honestly amazing, so I completely agree with you.

I’ll go through all the characters and try picking one favourite one + list the other ones that I like… it’s a lot… I’ll try not to pick everything lol

So I've been talking about dolls alot on my doll account (which this technically should go to, but I want to post here instead). I just want to make a lil appreciation post about about my fav dolls right now.

I saw a couple new dolls recently that are gamer girls and I just want to highlight how many there are right now.

We have the roughly 11-12 inch dolls that are both gamer girls. I just saw the LOL one recently and wanted to highlight her and the RH/SH doll. They both have the cat headphones and some gamer accessories. Pinkie has a cute switch type handheld, while Ace has a gameboy-esque over-the-shoulder bag. I can't explain really, but Pinkie looks like a proper twitch streamer while Ace looks like an e-sports girlie. They cover both vibes of gamer girl in a nice way while still having similar elements.

We also have Ghoulia from the new g3 MH who is a gamer and skater. I love how she has a switch like handheld as well and in her secrets version she has a laptop and controller earrings. I know she also was a gamer in MH g1 too, but it wasn't as obvious in the dolls, her love for comics was more so (not a bad thing, just isn't what I'm currently highlighting). She doesn't really have strong vibes like the other 2 with how she is as a gamer except maybe being a fan of the "oldies"/old school gamer.

Next we have a true newcomer, she's a doll a part of a new up and coming doll line called Secret Findees Magic Mailbox. She's a tiny (2 inch) fairy type strawberry based gamer in a literal pink mailbox. She gives me massive v-tuber vibes (not negative of course) and feels like a true cozy gamer. I feel like she and I could play slime rancher together or somethin and we'd vibe great (or animal crossing).

Next we have these two lol dolls from the arcade cabinet line (series 1 and 2 respectively). These were the 2 super rare dolls in each series of the line. Two young arcade girlies just dressing up in power ranger type outfits hanging out with the boys. I will never stop loving the concept behind their line, literal arcade cabinets with the dollls, outfits, and accessories inside with a coin operating mechanic.

All in all these dolls each have a diff vibe while all fitting the aesthetic and terms of "gamers" and "gamer girls" and I love each and every one of them. Also I know I probably left some out, not on purpose I just can't remember a lot of them with proper set gamer stuff as a tag line sort of to them.

Heiðr Eyes - @eirflower These default eyes are so pretty and I have used them for quite a while now.

Eyelashes - @kijiko-sims I have tried other eyelashes before but I feel like none ever come close to these!

Eyebrows - @stretchskeleton | Updated Brows - @whoismae The ones used below are Eyebrows #2. I also use eyebrows by @twisted-cat or just EA ones.

Makeup:

Most of the makeup I use is by @crypticsim along with some other must haves. Here are some of my favorites!

Homecoming Eyeshadow | Default Eyeshadow + Beer Eyeliner | Passionfruit Liner | May 15th Eyeliner + Bride Lipstick | Celeste Lipstick

Subtle Blush - @tragicsimblr This is basically the only blush I use since I don't usually like how blush looks (on my self and my sims lol) and I only just want something that is well, subtle!

Highlighter - @litttlecakes My all time favorite! I only use this or the in game highlighter. I used it for the look on the right.

Hair:

Most of the hairs I use are by @aharris00britney because I feel like his hairs work well together as in making your sim look like they have the same cut of hair just styled differently if that makes sense? I didn't really showcase it here but for example, you can find many hairs with similar length and bangs to work well together for different outfits for your sim. Anyways, the hairs I used here were the Marie Hair and Jules Hair

Jewelry:

I have lots of different jewelry in my game but here are the ones that stay in my game after doing a cc clean out.

Plumbob Jewelry Set - @kumikya I love all the jewelry from this creator! I always use the plumbob earrings at least once on a sim's outfit since they are very simple but oh so cute.

BG Necklaces Overrides - maushasims I use the standalone version of these necklaces and I have them all since they work well with most outfits.

Double Pierce Earrings - @blogsimplesimmer I think you can tell by now that I like simple jewelry 😅

Double Choker - Loverettsims This choker is such a staple piece! I think mostly everyone has had this in their game at some point but I love it so much and I love chokers so this is a must have for me

Pearl & Diamond Necklace - @batsfromwesteros I didn't use this necklace below but it is an honorable mention since it has become a recent favorite! I love nice pearl necklaces and this one looks amazing on all sims!

Shoes:

Anton Shoes Highcut & Lowcut - liliili-sims I used the highcuts below but I absolutely love both versions! I love the maxis match look of these and they look similar to converse shoes (which I also love) so these are usually my go to for sneakers

Leather Sandals V04 - @jius-sims This creator makes tons of nice shoes and I have quite of bit of them in my cc folder :)

I also wanted to mention @dallasgirl79. I use a lot of her shoes in game. I just didn't showcase any here. Evelyn Sandals - Tied are by far my fave from this creator!

Clothes:

I've... been putting her through several different outfits, trying to find a good one, and a good dye, that'll fit. I currently (where I'm at in the game, not in the screenshot) have settled on her wearing Minthara's camp clothes. Which look REALLY good on her with her scales.

Kai'mana just... has the charm I guess. First Gale's magic lesson, then Lae'zael trying to seduce her, and now Shadowheart. Okay. Maybe this'll be like with Astra and Lae'zael. A thing at the beginning, before eventually breaking off. I do think Shadowheart and Kai'mana just talking together was a super cute scene. Maybe that's the ace in me speaking. I dunno. But I liked it.

Kai'mana: "You're beautiful."

Shadowheart: "I know. But you're sweet for noticing."

I think it'll be a thing where they're not used to the company/trust of others, both of them being amnesiac and harboring "darkness" inside of them, and they lead themselves on to believe it's a romantic attraction to one another, but then realize they're just meant to be besties. They click, but not necessarily in the way they think. It's a pleasant/fond experience for them, though.

As for worst and best hair in twst, I will write my thoughts below. I’ll go by dorm, so there is no particular order or ranking. Truthfully, I just wrote my thoughts and simped a lot. ^^;;;

Riddle - I love his hair!!! It’s very cute and red!!! <3 the little heart-shaped ahoge........ he’s the perfect man. The only man to ever exist. orz

Ace - a very fun hairstyle!!! It just looks so,,,, poofy???? Like if I pat his head, his hair will spring right back up because it’s so fluffy??? >_< it’s difficult to describe, but I like his hair a lot. The style suits Mr. Ace wonderfully!!!

Deuce - the color is so pretty!!! Deep navy blue... aaaa so beautiful!!! I don’t have many thoughts regarding his hairstyle, but I do think it fits a lot! It’s a clean, simple style that reflects how Deuce is trying so hard to keep a clean record and become a respectable honors student!! :D

Trey - he’s lucky he’s so good-looking and husband material and that I’m down astronomically bad for him, otherwise I would not be so prone to hyping up his hairstyle. It feels so plain, but then that’s the image Trey has at first glance and I think that's so perfect because you’ll never suspect he is actually quite mischievous!

Cater - I LOVE HIM AND HIS HAIRSTYLE OOOOOOO OTL it’s so fun!!!! The color is also very vibrant!!! But also I like picturing his hair down! All of the artwork I have seen of it... omg he looks so pretty aaaaaa!!! T_T

Leona - HE HAS THE MOST GORGEOUS HAIR AAAAAAAA there’s something about it that’s just,,,,, omg!!!!! Breathtaking. He’s beautiful. So stunning and show-stopping... orz I want to frame him in a picture and always admire him like the artwork he is.

Jack - at first I wasn’t very partial to his hairstyle, but it’s actually very pretty and pleasant!! I like the color (I am not immune to anime men with white/grey hair hehe) and I also like how nicely his ears are situated within his hair. :D it just works so well!!!

Ruggie - rugs..... aaaa he has a cute, messy hairstyle. <3 the sandy blond and the brown is too pretty!!! I could look at him forever hehe. Also his ears!!!! They’re just so adorable. I want to pat him on the head and give him a scratch behind the ears, but I think he would definitely bite me or swat my hands away. ;;;

Azul - ew. terrible tako. worst hair. lame. boo. tomato tomato. >:( (I need him. His hair is so pretty and fluffy and soft and angelic and he is a masterpiece and he has the best hair to run your fingers through while you're making out and the shaved undercut is really cool and I need him and he is so pretty and wow omg he is magnificent and beautiful and best hair.)

Jade & Floyd - I think they might break my ribs if I told them that in the beginning not only did I think they were horrendously unattractive, boring, and unflattering to look at, but I also didn’t like their hairstyle. LOL and now look at where I am.... ^^;;; I have since corrected my ways and now I find their hairstyles very appealing, especially the single dyed strand. It ended up growing on me. I like how even their hairstyles differentiate them and Jade’s explanation of how his hair strand forms a J so it’s easier to tell him and Floyd apart if you look closely at that detail… it’s actually quite cute. :D

Kalim - YES YES YES I LIKE HIS HAIR A LOT!!!!! Another man with white/grey hair who I adore. Every turban-like headband he wears for each of his outfits goes very well with his hairstyle. I just really enjoy it!!! It’s another one that’s hard to describe, but his hairstyle looks so nice and cute. <3

Jamil - his hair…. Where do I even begin? Omg it’s so so sosososososo pretty!!!! OTL the length and braids throughout and even the little metal hair ties(?)/accessories he wears in his hair!!!!! He is stunning. He is the moment. He is everything you could ever want. I’ve always loved Jamil’s hair, especially how long and pretty it looks!!! The color itself is very flattering as well.

Vil - of course I also love Vil’s hairstyle, but this is to be expected considering Vil serves in every outfit and style that ever graces his form!!! He’s so pretty. I understand why Rook hypes him up so much. The soft lavender dye goes so well with the blond!! He is indeed the fairest of them all in my eyes. He’s just so stunning… orz Vil, I am your number one fan and supporter.

Epel - aaaa eppy!!!! For a long while I had his exact hairstyle (and didn’t realize it until I was looking at card art for Epel and was left wondering why his hair looks so familiar), so naturally I love the style!!! His hair looks so soft and pretty, and the purple color is so nice to look at!!!

Idia - OMG HIS HAIR IS SO COOL (or maybe a better word is hot because it's fire)!!!!!!! It's an immaculate hair design... something about fire hair is so amazing, and it's blue and very long!!!! Seeing his hair in a braid in his applepom card continues to feed me. He's so cute. <3

Ortho - like Idia, Ortho's hair is also very cool because it's also fire!!! I find Ortho's entire design really interesting as well. Naturally, there's an explanation for why he is a robot (which is heartbreaking), but I still think it's a very neat character design. And his hair is so fun and bright!!! :D

Malleus - elegant... ethereal... he is beautiful... orz stunning. I bow before you and your beautiful hair, Mr. Horns.

Lilia - I have to appreciate Lilia and his beautiful hairstyle (even if the cut is,,,, certainly something). As someone who also loves to dye their hair neon pink, I must recognize his excellent hair. I also love the little hair strands that curl up to look like horns hehe!!

Silver - I am not immune to anime men with white/grey hair. Silver's hair looks so soft and gentle just like him. He's just so handsome and sweet. T_T like Kalim, Silver could do no wrong. The two of them are the biggest sweethearts in NRC.

Sebek - I genuinely do not know how to feel about his hair, but I think it's styled so cool. >:) he looks sharp. That's the only way I can describe my feelings. I feel as if I will touch his hair and it might cut me. >_< or Sebek himself will cut me before I dare lay a hand upon his head...

Che'nya - AAAA HIS HAIR!!!! Very cool!!!! He looks so scrunkly. No thoughts in his head except mischief. He is so :3c omg <3

Neige - the hairstyle makes him look so kind and gentle!!! I like the color as well. He could do no wrong. orz

Rollo - Rollo, I love you and I could defend you, but not when you're going out in public with that atrocious choir boy cut. But because his hair is white, he becomes even more appealing to me. Thus, I may be inclined to accept his hair. My friends may clown on me for liking him when he has that hairstyle, but he's cute to me. >:( he's lovely to me. He's boyfriend to me. >:(

i wound up getting attached to utsushi-kyokan (master/instructor utsushi), ウツハン/utsuhan (utsushi x hunter) ship, and finding his Japanese fan community late 2021, and i've been chatting with mutuals and friends i made there since. at that time, capcom had opened up pre-orders for his nui (plushie). this plush is lovingly referred to as "Unui-kun", and people love to take him around and bring him places. here's my Unui-kun in new york city lol

fans love to dress him up and make clothing and accessories for him. had i known just how attached i would become, i would not have set my Unui-kun to ship via surface mail delivery because it took about 2-3 months extra for him to arrive... ;;

but anyway, it seemed that his popularity was growing because they continued to make more merch of him. he seems to have more than any of the other characters.

many of these are limited print/pre-order only, or were from specific events like the capcom cafe features. trying to get his merchandise became crazy, because scalpers started to pick up on how badly people wanted goodies of him?!

just how popular is this guy?! what's with the character tax!!

and how did this even happen... we're playing monster hunter, not an idol game! but i think it really speaks a lot for itself how rise had such colorful characters that you could get attached to. it seems he really jives with many female and queer players, so good on capcom for that hehe. many of the japanese fans i've met are either older women, very often mothers, or gnc, which i found to be really cool. the english-speaking utsushi fans are usually the same, too. the solidarity is real...

I found out that a lot of ppl, including myself, shared a similar experience: they missed out on a majority of utsushi's flavor text in base rise bc they didn't talk to him or the other NPCs very much during village and high rank quests, and therefore didn't even think much of him until after the fact. people double-taking when going through the game again and actually catching on to his antics... I think what really got things going was when they released his DLC voice and learned about his, uh, extremely affectionate lines towards the hunter when it comes to mew mew and blowing a kiss LOL. (the "welcome back, master!" line?!?! there's so much art of him in a maid outfit... and the way he says ace/manadeshi in his sleep at the table?!?! scandalous?!?!) even for me, he got my attention only once i saw the official art of him (realizing "hey he's got a cute design actually") and eventually encountering utsushi x hunter fanart on pixiv. another thing that got me noticing him was brian david gilbert's now deleted tweet about how zac efron and utsushi are the same. thankfully, we have the internet archive to save the existence of this post and i have to make sure people experience this lost media.

once i realized how weirdly close he was to the hunter, the gears started turning

i confirmed that ppl really did notice that it was unusual for an instructor character to refer to his pupil as "manadeshi (beloved/dearest disciple)" in the manner that he does, being so close to them in a way that felt so familiar and warm. he was already popular enough that by valentine's day 2022, fans literally sent real chocolates to capcom addressed to utsushi. i knew about this for a while, but i was shook that they wound up officially addressing that this really happened during the last update video.

after they received his chocolates, they immediately got one of the (female) illustrators on board to quickly draw that really cute valentine's day art of utsushi. the japanese tweet for that artwork had even a little bit more text than the english one…

that "i'll always be watching over you" line…

(and while i'm here, i have to mention the valentine's day art we got for 2023- i made a separate post about THAT.)

we started to suspect capcom caught on to this niche community's love for utsushi, and they started to kind of... troll us??? LOL.

throughout the previews of sunbreak last year, they would start obsessively sneaking utsushi into those chibi artworks. and when npc followers were announced, people were scrambling to find out if he was going to be one of them, but there also was some weird radio silence about him for a bit...

in one of the earlier trailers that showed the elgado hub for the first time, there was a very short part of the clip where ppl could see someone standing in the distance at the corner of the screen. all the utsushi fans went nuts because they were taking a magnifying glass and zooming up at there wondering if it was really him, because everyone wanted him to be there in sunbreak LOL.

of course we'd eventually find out that would be his perch for most of the game! it was only during the final preview trailer before the release of sunbreak did they finally announce utsushi as a follower, as if they were saving the best for last. and sunbreak dropped, we got to see him in elgado and enjoy hunting with him. and it didn't end there. he wound up being featured in two of the short stories released last summer, and we would not forget this incident.

when i think about how easy it is to just play through the story and miss out on following specific out-of-the-way flavor texts, let alone know about all this outside of the game, i wonder if utsushi joining the hunter in the battle against amatsu in the penultimate battle was strange, because he has such a spotlight on him, even being the one who allows you to ride an apex which was normally impossible. if people didn't acknowledge him before, certainly people would love him now.

his final line after you defeat amatsu: it's cute and silly in english... but in japanese, his line and delivery was extremely, almost unabashedly... romantic. many people were shocked because it sounded like a fervent confession.

"I'll say it once more... You are my pride, my beloved disciple."

finally, during the last update video…

we got this line straight from the director LOL. utsushi wound up being his personal favorite character in rise, and perhaps why we wound up seeing more and more of him in sunbreak.

all in all, if you kept up with the flavor text of rise, and if you followed utsushi's dialogue throughout the base game and expansion, the emotional pay off at the end was even better! and it is a shame when this stuff is mostly optional or you have to go out of the way for it, with so much being missable with every bit of progression. but making a monhun where story and character interactions are pushed more… i think they were on to something. it's probably something that could be divisive, but personally I think they should go all in on it more in the future. Rise proved that they could make charming and memorable (not to mention, named) characters... if they lean into it more in a future entry, then i hope they do it in a way where everyone can enjoy it and not feel like they missed out. but I also hope they would make it so that people don't feel overwhelmed with flavor text... it comes down to taste, but i think i have faith that monhun can try making more character-driven stories while still keeping the core of the series in tact.

and for the sunbreak stories: a cake based on his fight with rathalos together with the royal guard, and then a drink that represents his... uh, struggle across the ocean to chase the hunter to elgado. because they will never let him live that down. i won't either.

here's a t-shirt of utsushi and kagami you can pick up on amazon right now. kagami was a very interesting arc when he was first shown- he was introduced as a long time friend of utsushi, training together in the past, but eventually parting ways.

his seiyuu in japanese is a sentai actor who loves monster hunter, so essentially, kagami is lowkey like a self-insert for him lol. he's goofy in english because he's voiced by a certain youtuber, but in japanese he takes a different direction of silly because he has a "chuunibyou" edgelord cringe way of talking. it's such a shame that kagami wasn't really in the game itself besides being mentioned in a few mission descriptions because i would've loved to see him interact with utsushi and the hunter, and i wish the royal knights and many of the NPCs had more cutscenes or something. it makes me think, if it weren't for the pandemic, could rise's story and scenario have been something more because of the DLC voice characters like hibasa/monju/kagami? anyway, a popular headcanon is that utsushi and kagami are ex-boyfriends lol (i personally like this one and adapted it for my utsuhan fanfics). but there are even those who ship kagautsu too (although it is rare because people overseas are a little wary of shipping characters who are based on real people).

I do headcanon that when he’s in middle school he finally snaps. He becomes angry and kinda becomes a bully because he doesn’t feel like he has anyone who cares about him, it’s probably only for a few days at most but he just snaps at everyone, makes fun of everything everyone does, but after a few days Kenny (and maybe Cartman or Kyle) kinda confronts him and he ends up apologizing and trying to find someone to talk to.

He supports his children, but he’s probably a very sheltering parent if that makes sense. Has no idea what he’s doing at first but eventually gets the hang of it. He loves playing make believe with them, would totally play dress up and such.

anyway here's some power of the doctor thoughts from someone who phased in and out of thirteen's era very casually and only saw like a cumulative 10 episodes of it, maybe

honestly i enjoyed it more-or-less/more than i expected, lol, maybe because i had no particular expectations riding on it i just wanted to see what would happen. i don't think it was the tightest or most coherent script but no showrunner's finale ever has been LMAO so... it is what it is.

the master's entire plan seemed overly convoluted and i don't entirely follow why we had half the plot elements we had, but i'm also always willing to accept the master doing fuckshit for reasons that don't really go beyond wanting to ruin the doctor's day and get their attention. so like. sure. i can roll w that lmfao. the daleks and cyberman stuff seemed totally superfluous too but... whatever idc

dhawan's master isn't my fave master but he's enjoyable to watch, imo. the most bonkers one of the 3 modern i think? which considering the competition is a high bar, lol.

i think a bigger crit, for me, of 13-era master is more on jodie's end, where i don't get as much conflict and whatnot from her, which in turn makes it a less interesting dynamic than the other modern master+doctor combos. the push-pull mutual obsession is what makes them fun! i don't believe 13 would cradle his body sobbing and begging him to regenerate after he tortured her for a year, so really, what's the point

it was nice seeing ace and tegan. i think i maybe once saw a serial with each but it was so long ago, so i won't pretend any kind of authority in terms of how they were written. but i liked having them around lol

i think it was a bit of an odd choice to have dhawan 'take over' the doctor's body or ...whatever... in jodie's very last episode. it would've been a better showcase for jodie whittaker, and accomplished the same basic plan, if somehow HE regenerated into HER, and jodie got to play both the doctor and the master. ah well, because...

i really liked the old doctor cameos! I was not spoiled for it at all and i thought it was very sweet, especially giving five+tegan and seven+ace their moments together.i'm sure the actors appreciated a chance to be together too. just nice :) and i love my man eight lmao... king

thasmin isn't a ship i'm invested in personally but i did start watching again after they canonized yaz's feelings in EOTD because i was like oh, how far will the show go with this? and the answer is apparently "nowhere". LOTSD felt totally unresolved and then we just never brought it up again. i can live without a kiss or a happily ever after, but when you've spent nearly a year patting yourselves on the back for a queer doctor/companion relationship, only to not do the barest minimum to address it, that's fucked up. why canonize your accidental-by-admission subtext if you're not going to DO ANYTHING? sorry to the shippers who really got jerked around by this show for no reason.

and then, even setting aside that irritation, the most egregious thing of all...

yaz's exit. just absolutely flabbergasted they did yaz/mandip so dirty that they didn't even TRY to come up with and articulate a reason for her to leave. ludicrous!!! she spends her whole time swallowing her feelings for the doctor's comfort and that extends all the way to leaving because the doctor kicked her out with nary a hug? what the fuck? one of the longest running companions ever and this is the sendoff she gets, kicked out because the doctor decides, sans explanation, she "needs to be alone" to regenerate despite having regenerated with many companions prior? lmao... yaz sweetie i'm so sorry. she doesn't even get to give the speech to the companion support group. my god. martha jones you need to call her up immediately

I don’t have much to say on her outfit…I went on pure vibes.

Damsel was made as one half of a set, as many of my characters are. Ace is other half of her “set”. They’re supposed to emulate 50’s action heroes, which is where they get their names from!

Damsel - evokes the typical image of the damsel in distress, a common trope at the time

The whole “don’t you touch my guns!” thing is actually attached to her backstory (tw for death, military stuff, and hunting)

Damsel’s pre-circus name was Velvet. She was the second-youngest of five, and the only girl. Her family was one of those military families, but in an actually healthy sense. It taught her responsibility and discipline, and how to aim lol. They hunted a lot, so she learned how to use a gun. The pistols were gifts from the two eldest brothers, who decided to take on a military career but died or disappeared. The weapons are pretty much all she has left of them, so she’s very very protective over them. Besides that, she’s very easy-going, but with a strong sense of Justice and a classic 50’s hero’s “do-gooder” spirit. Unfortunately it means she’s very hard on herself and those she thinks are “wrong”, a system that meant she developed a bad habit of digging holes for herself and refusing to admit wrongdoing (even if she knows she’s wrong!) because then she feels like she’s worth nothing as a person.

Nowadays, after the “Lady Justice” incident, she’s much more forgiving and calm, and is trying to get her life back together. Including taking up baking! And being nice to helpful anon lol. She misses Ace, but doesn’t feel like she can face him. Old habits die hard.

Commentary on the latest fancomic

This comic has gotten so long that I HAD to push myself to post it and be over with it. Just flat colors.

It started out with "heh, Frye reminds me of a sunflower" to this quote of a debunked post:

I've gotta draw THS DAMMT!!!

Which led me to write a cheesey ass Tanka poem. I'm no writer so forgive me. I tried.

And yes. Initially it was only Frye and Shiver without much background, but the lack of environment was left to be desire. So, I added balcony garden with nationals flowers. Nothing to significant so don't mind them. They're just background dressing with few thoughts in mind.

But who is actually taking care of these plants? Those two as green thumbs? Nah. So instead I drew Big Man in. Plus, an excuse to draw him in an outfit as well.

The fluff comic became more so a drip comic in which I can't complain. After all, they're a gang. Can't leave a homie behind in the fashion game.

The bonus comic was after I drew Big Man in the background. Although, I had the idea of pinning against wall gag (No it wasn't 🐙, it was 👉🦑. Arms above the head) I've decided to go against it. It just ruins the flow of the main comic. A simple PDA works better. Well, define simple.

Also, inserted an ace joke there because as a grey ace sometimes it be like "Really now? In front of my soup?"

There's that. The process of what felt like a never ending project. I do wish to draw them in those outfits again where Shiver and Frye wear their respective hats. I've got the entire outfits from head to toe down in my head. I can see why there are many fanarts of them in various clothes especially Big Man in dresses. It's cute. He's cute. Just love it.

Alright, enough rambling. Next time, hopefully, it won't take me another month to post something again lol.

What jpop artists do you like? Lately ive been getting into some like perfume, and sheena ringo or even vintage ones like pink lady or candies. Ive also heard lots of good things about hikada utaru, but aparently she identifies as nonbinary now?! Does it make me petty not to want to listen to her just because of that? Like i expected better of Japan artists but i guess even they can be delulu like american artists...

Yeah, there's been a whole discourse with Hikaru Utada because she suddenly said she didn't want to be described with gendered pronouns such as "Ms." before her name (and instead use Mx. or something like that). It's interesting to note that Hikki is fluent in English, and there was hardly any chance that someone who only speaks Japanese get so nitpicky about pronouns. 'Ms' doesn't really exist in Japanese, and actually Japanese is a pretty non gendered language (even less than English). So it's really interesting how the linguistic influence of the West took a toll of her. This statement was clearly dedicated to her Western audience, the only that would consistently use pronouns to describe her. However, she never stated she wanted to he called "she/they/them" or whatever.

Music wise, I'm not really fond of her music. I really like her 'ULTRA BLUE' album (which is famous for "Passion" which was Kingdom Hearts 2 theme) and some songs here and there though. Hikki is famous for having Jpop most groundbreaking debut at only 16 years old with "Automatic" (this song aged like fine wine tbh) by 1)being one of the biggest selling record in Japan 2)shoving R&B element in her music which was very outstanding at that time. The fact that she wrote at such a young age (and still do) all her lyrics + is fluent in English gave her a very solid 'ace' aura, and die hard fans who still to this day will jump on your throat if you 'dare' criticize their queen lol I remember someone who said that even her most upbeat/positive songs (Keep tryin', COLORS, Traveling…) always had a sad & melancholic era, and I think that's the most accurate description of her music, maybe that's why I have a hard time listening to her albums bc they (beside 'ULTRA BLUE' and 'HEART STATION' which are imo her most lighthearted ones) have this very downer, softdoom vibe~

That being said, it would be ridiculous to not listen to her just bc she has pronouns anon lol It's pretty funny how some people are getting so cranky abt pronouns-having artists and boast about how refuse to entertain anything that they do....but will have issue to keep watching/listening to movies/music of predators, sex pest and convicted rapists lmao

I always got a weird vibe from Sheena Ringo and never got remotely interested in her music. The rumors about she being a closeted Japanese nationalist just bc of her NIPPON album era (where she had her audience wave Japanese imperial flags) are insane though lmao Hopefully those people have the same energy to call out Miley Cyrus for being an American Nationalist for her song "Party in the USA" where she dances before a giant American flag 🤡

I hardly listen to new Japanese artists anymore. I replied to an ask not too long ago where I professed my love for Ayumi Hamasaki (her 10 first year of career were pristine - she really should've retired at her 10 years Complete Singles best album momentum because everything after that has pretty much been trash tbh). Her album LOVEppears is probably my favorite album of all time 🥴

I'll never be over how cute she looks on "Fly High" MV (one of my favorite of her - those platform shoes + micro short + glittery sweatshirt combo will never get old / this MV is 23 years old and that outfit is still KICKIN #legendary)

Also pretty random because that's not a band that I'm checking like that, but THE ORAL CIGARETTES 'UNOFFICIAL' album is an absolute no skip banger. I hardly remember a Jrock album that got me hooked like that those last few years😳

I have so many other Japanese acts that I love it's really insane (I am more savvy of Japanese music that western one).

Soloist wise, I grew up in womanhood listening to Kana Nishino and her music is literally the soundtrack of my early 20s. We were born only a month apart and felt so connected to her and her songs. She truly has a special place in my heart. Her debut & sophomore albums 'LOVE one.' and 'to LOVE' got 20 years old me on a CHOKEHOLD! "Motto" got me crying all my tears off a dusty lmaoooo😭 it's insane how her songs matched with my life - we truly had a connection

Tomiko Van and Kana Nishino are Jpop best vocalists imo ELLEGARDEN (rip) and ART-SCHOOL are my favorite bands of all time. ASIAN KUNG FU GENERATION and UVERworld had a decent run in the 2000s. Perfume is still kicking.....but I don't really catch up with them anymore cause I've been trying to cut out secular music off my playlist

🔥- how has the way you think about yourself changed since you realized you were queer? hmm that's a good question! i never had the experience some ace/queer people do where i thought that there was something wrong or i was the odd one out, but it's still made me feel more secure in the way i move throughout the world if that makes sense? it's definitely changed the way i identify as myself in that it's become more important to me than thinking i was straight ever did, and in some ways it's made me feel more comfortable in my own skin. on the flip side, since some of my queer identity isn't fully "hammered out" yet, it does mean i question my actions more (although this has been going on since i first started questioning my sexuality). like, i'll have an intrusive thought relating to sex and instead of brushing it aside my brain will sometimes super over-analyze it being like "okay but do you actually mean this tho" which is. not always a funky fun time lol. since i've begun to question my romantic attraction label (and have currently decided not to use one) i've been overthinking things related to that as well like "okay but when you like [insert person here] is pretty what do you *mean* by that" which is less stressful than the other thing but still kinda tiring. rn i'm just working on being comfortable not being certain, which is also changing how i think about myself!

🦚- are there any queer books/shows/etc. that you would suggest? so many! i just finished reading two books with central queer characters that are both by alice oseman, radio silence & i was born for this. they were both good but i was born for this is just. ohhhh my gosh so so good and as someone who's (semi)active in a bandom it was facinating to read (the book focuses a lot on a boy band's fandom as well as fame in general) and while i didn't agree with 100% of the ways the fandom was portrayed i felt like the vast majority of it rang true, so i def recommend it not only for people looking for books with queer characters but also for people in the 5sos fandom. radio silence is also super super good and deals with queerness and mental illness in really interesting ways!

🏳️‍🌈- do you enjoy the colors of your preferred flag? do you incorporate it into your outfits, decor, etc.? so. listen. i love the ace flag bc, duh, it's the ace flag, but i'm also willing to admit that it's got one of the most boring color schemes out of the major pride flags. where is the contrast?? the drama?? the aesthetic?? however! i do still love it and love owning ace-themed things (i got a super cute ace flag scrunchie that i'm really vibing with) but you know. if i ever figure out a different label for other aspects of my identity and that has a prettier pride flag i will be jumping all over that believe you me
