I cannot articulate the amount of whiplash I feel going from bbc sherlock where the writers didn’t care about anything they were writing, but fans still went to bat for it and analyzed it so meticulously that there’s entire actual essays written about various theories, to then end up with stranger things where the writers do care about what they’re writing, and yet people are constantly saying it’s bullshit to read into it that much

Sonic is fighting Eggman on one of his evil lairs, nothing new. Tails helped him wreck some badniks but Sonic said he wanted to annoy Eggman by himself for a little bit, so the little fox wanders around the base, maybe he can collect some data to outpace Eggman before his next scheme, the control room is in the same place almost every time so he confidently enters the room after six seconds of hacking through the lock, a semi solid hologram of a girl with crimson eyes turns to him as he steps inside.
Sage, right, he remembers her, he suddenly also remembers that the “Chaos Energy Use Effects On Non Organic Beings” conference he wanted to see was airing live just at that time, but that was only because could see the program starting and being projected on the multiple screens of the room behind Sage. He keeps looking at them for a whole 10 seconds, then remembers where he is, and as he quickly returns his attention to the A.I. girl while he positions himself to fight, he notices she hasn’t displayed any security measures against him, he also noticed that while he was looking at the screens she only looked at him without stopping, not until now, as he can see how she turns her sight back to the biggest screen of the room without saying anything. He doesn’t say anything either.
He opted to watch the same screen as Sage, getting closer to her, apparently she didn’t mind him being here, if the fact that she didn’t stopped him when he sat on the floor just beside her said anything. He doesn’t remember how long was it since he sat down with her, he doesn’t remember when the yelling and fighting from the lair’s entrance stopped, but that’s good to him, at least now they can hear clearly the presenter’s q&a section.
The fight between hedgehog and madman stopped by the scientist request, as apparently he promised his daughter he would keep quiet that evening so she could enjoy her favorite talk show, a science one of course. The speedster agreed without much convincing, as he also remembered his little brother wanted to go home as early as they could to watch some investigator’s interview thingy.
They walked at a fast pace through the base looking for the fox kit so the old Egghead could kick them out of his house as soon as possible, the control room was the obvious answer for both of them if they wanted to find a curious boy on an evil lair, they didn’t expect to find said boy sitting on the ground smiling and talking energetically with with the translucent hologram A. I. Eggman called his daughter.
Sonic was no scientist, but he knew when someone was talking science, just as he knew how happy his little brother got anytime someone could keep up with him over physics, engineering, mechanics or anything of sorts kind of conversation, but the girl in front of Tails was speaking non-stop, loudly and expertly over some complicated calculations, and the kid’s twin tails wouldn’t stop wagging as he listened. Sonic grinned, he didn’t understand what they were really talking about, but the scene in front of his eyes screamed chemistry.
Even if Eggman could understand what they were talking about, he paid no attention to their voices, nor the motion of the fox’s tails, or how they both turned repeatedly to the screen behind them and then back to each other; focusing only on how his daughter’s eyes glimmered when she listened to the fox’s long answer to her comment, and the smile that they both offered each other when the screens turned off when the show finished. He never saw such smile on his daughter’s face before.

It Will Be "Hamas's Problem," As The IDF War Room Plans "Something Off The Beaten Path"
TEL AVIV, Israel — Four stories deep underground, the war room in the Kirya — Israel’s version of the Pentagon — is buzzing. A few hours earlier, the Israeli government gave Palestinians living in Gaza 24 hours to move south for their own safety.
How they were to do that was not part of the war room buzz. Instead the key clarion offered by those in the war room is “we will have to be disruptive.”
That does not bode for an easy time for the 1.1 million Palestinians who are expected to move south for presumed safety. Nor does it portend well for the thousands of Israeli soldiers who are expected to move street by street, house by house, warren by warren, and tunnel by tunnel to flush out and kill Hamas fighters.
“I assume that we will move quickly,” a senior member of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) said in an interview. “Now we are in a fight greater than we have seen before.”
The senior IDF official spoke only on the condition he not be identified. He was unperturbed about the impact on innocent Palestinians.
‘That will be Hamas’s problem,” he said. “Again, we are at war.”
Israel has called for the evacuation of 1.1 million residents in north Gaza to move south in the next 24 hours, a deadline that seems to have begun. The United Nations considers it "impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” it said in a statement.
Israel’s military offered residents of Gaza a three-hour midday window to leave via a main highway, but Gaza’s Health Ministry refused to evacuate hospitals.
“There is nowhere in Gaza that can accept the number of patients in our intensive care unit or neonatal intensive care unit or even the operating rooms,” said Dr. Muhammad Abu Salima, the director of Al Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical complex.
Agreeing that Israel has failed repeatedly to beat down and destroy Hamas in the past, the senior IDF official said to expect “something off the beaten path” in the upcoming assault.
Just what path that may be is unclear amidst the frenetic meld of bodies and images and pulses in the war room, the duel between the unknowns of concerns and the determination of retribution — the place where the IDF displays its emotions of its heart and steeliness of its brain.
The High Command Center at Kirya is nicknamed "the Pit." It is the underground war room in the heart of Tel Aviv, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All operations, both overt and covert, which the IDF guides over land, sea and air, emanate from the Pit.
Ironically, it is near the site of the first-ever unconcealed Haganah attack on a British installations in 1947.
Access by swipe cards, whose codes repeatedly change, the war room has multiple screens against one of its olive green walls, sometimes showing unedited footage being taken by IDF camera persons on the front lines — and elsewhere.
The debate, the directions, the decisions, are hashed out around a conference table in the center of the room, made with cedar wood from Galilee.
U.S. officials are privately urging Israel to abide by the laws of war. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in a press briefing with Israel defense Minister Yoav Gallant, said, “ My experience in working with the Israeli forces is they are professional, they're disciplined and they are focused on the right things.  And so I expect that going forward, they will continue to exhibit that same degree of professionalism that we've seen in the past.”
Austin added, “The international community fought ISIS who in some cases was embedded deeply in built-up areas, and that international coalition fought valiantly and protected civilians and created corridors for humanitarian movement even in the midst of a pretty significant fight.  So again, this is a professional force.  It is well led and I have every expectation that it will be disciplined.”
He said that “we'd be more than happy to share with our allies here, in terms of operating effectively in dense urban terrain, creating safe humanitarian corridors, making sure that we're thoughtful about how we shape the battle and making sure that, you know, our objectives are well-defined and so we'll continue to share the lessons that we've learned over the years.”
Gallant insisted that “Israel never and ever, will not shoot civilians on purpose.  Therefore we are asking all the civilians in Gaza City to go south of Gaza.  And the reason is that because we don't want to harm them.”
However, he added that “the camouflage of the terrorists is the civil population.  Therefore we need to separate them.” He made it clear that “We are going to destroy Hamas infrastructures, Hamas headquarters, Hamas military establishment, and take these phenomena out of Gaza and out of the Earth.  They cannot live among human civilized people.”
That was the same word coming from the war room.
“Our soldiers became lazy because they trusted technology,” the senior IDF official said. Not this time, he said.
This time, Israel will get the solution that has eluded them, despite previous vows and boasts to end Hamas once and for all. This time, the military will make sure “they won’t be able to do it again,” the IDF official said.

Hi! I loved the Adrinette analysis you made...do you think you could make a similar one for Ladybug and Chat Noir over seasons 1 to 3?
Tumblr media
I knew I was leaving myself open for this ask, and I kinda dreaded it, because 80% of Ladynoir screen time is dedicated to defeating an Akuma, meaning the characters have something else to focus on rather than progressing their relationship, and most the relationship stuff is just Marinette being really stubborn and refusing to properly look at her partner. In other words, there's significantly more screen time, but also proportionally less stuff going on in Ladynoir than in Adrinette because the characters are superheroes on the job and one party is actively resisting any development happening. It's also a very different kind of arc and relationship to Adrinette where the goal is just the two of them getting closer and more comfortable with each other. Ladynoir has that as well as all the trust issues and superhero team dynamics. Basically, this post is definitive proof that Miraculous has had plot development before season four, and it has had a lot of it. I got almost dizzy with it while compiling this.
Once again, I’m trying to go in a somewhat chronological order to properly track the relationship.
In 'Origins', we only get one-sided Ladynoir stuff. Marinette is new on the job and completely focused on solving the Akuma problem and nothing else. Meanwhile, Adrien actually takes note of his partner. He sees her flounder but ultimately put together a clever plan. He sees her lose faith but ultimately pick herself up and deliver a really badass speech at Hawk Moth. It's really no wonder he fell in love. The number one thing he learned about Ladybug is that she can fail and the second thing was that she could pick herself up again and grab the win anyway. I've brought up earlier in the Top Adrinette Scene discussion that Adrien is very scared of failing, because his father does not forgive failure, so Ladybug being someone who can turn a failure into a win understandably makes his heart go pitter-patter.
Meanwhile, Marinette barely noticed her partner. As I said, she was fully focused on solving the problem, but she was also getting distracted by her own insecurities. Marinette's first experience with Cat Noir was that he was kinda smooth and seemed to be much more confident than Marinette. Her second experience was that he tended to leap before he looked, but was perfectly willing to listen to her say-so. We have a very brief attempt at flirtation from Cat Noir, that Ladybug barely seems to even notice.
In 'Bubbler', Cat Noir actually gets to flirt with his Lady. He's clearly intent on getting her to notice what he's getting at, but Ladybug seems mostly exasperated with him. At this point their partnership is new and Marinette is most likely thinking back to their first case, when Cat Noir was so patient and supportive and not this...much. She still doesn't tell him to quit it, though, meaning she’s trying to accept him being a lot.
'Stormy Weather' has Cat Noir continuing in his attempts to get Ladybug to notice him and this time she responds playfully when they're not right in the middle of a tense situation. She's getting used to this being Cat's way of interacting with her and keeping the mood light.
'Lady Wifi' has the pair discussing the secrecy between them, with Adrien actively making the decision that honoring Ladybug's wishes concerning keeping their secret identities is more important than knowing the identity of the girl he's in love with, that doing so is the proper way to love her. 'Lady Wifi' is also the first time Marinette panics at the idea of something romantic being suggested about her and Cat Noir, when Alya says Adrien might be Cat Noir, that Cat Noir might be the boy she's repeatedly told Alya she's in love with.
'Copycat' shows us for a fact that Ladybug has no idea that Cat Noir's flirtations with her are genuine, and Cat Noir is growing tired of his feelings going entirely unnoticed.
Because of his growing frustration over not being able to communicate his feelings to Ladybug in a manner that she'd take seriously, Adrien goes the extra mile to write her a love poem in 'Dark Cupid'. When he receives a response that appeared with no sender, just a ladybug, he entertains the thought that Ladybug answered his poem and does in fact return his feelings (not realizing that Ladybug would need to know his identity to deliver such a note to him specifically, but Adrien does generally worry less about secret identities than Marinette). 'Dark Cupid' is also the first occasion of Marinette's by-now patented plan "Pretend to be in Love with Cat Noir" to solve problems, except that she was absolutely certain that a True Love's Kiss could occur between them, so there isn't even much room for pretending, but Marinette's denial is so powerful, she'll try.
In 'The Mime' we see Cat Noir actually testing Ladybug's receptiveness to a date, by suggesting that they could have gone to the play together if they didn't have to detransform. Ladybug replies that she has other plans before zipping away, and Cat Noir merely smiles after her. His feelings are growing, and he might still be remembering the love note he got. In fact, this is probably why he says "We are meant to be," in 'Gamer'.
In 'Animan' Ladybug actually does some of her own flirting with Cat Noir by giving him chin scritches. We also see a very straightforward gesture of affection from Cat Noir to Ladybug, when he hugs her in relief after the battle. Ladybug smiles softly at him, seeing that her partner cares about her well-being, while Cat Noir jumps back, embarrassed over his own reaction, or perhaps even afraid of censure. Adrien isn't the type of person to suddenly grab people in a hug, most likely because such "overly emotional" displays are discouraged in the Agreste household. This is the first occasion of Adrien projecting his father's supposed reaction to a thing he does on Ladybug, so he runs away from her.
In 'Simon Says', Cat Noir clings to Ladybug when faced with Gabriel looking at him weirdly (he's trying to figure out if he's Adrien, but Adrien himself never realizes his father was suspicious of his identity). At this point, Ladybug has started to become something of a security symbol to Adrien specifically against his father.
'Reflekta' is the episode where Cat Noir reminds Ladybug that he doesn't just deliver quips and he is actually a hero in his own right, even with diminished capabilities, in response to Marinette almost leaving him behind because he couldn't use his Cat Noir powers, because he'd "just slow (her) down", and then it turns out she couldn't have won without him. However, with the scene of Cat Noir taking the hit, Ladybug also starts on the process of realizing exactly how important her partner is to her success. Noticeably, it's while they're plotting together that Ladybug responds to his flirtation by flirting back, even if not very well (protip, Marinette, demeaning someone isn't funny to anyone but the person doing the demeaning, the other person is not suddenly lacking a sense of humor). Cat Noir is also a bit softer with his overtures in this episode, his cheeky flirtation gaining a bit more intimacy.
In 'Antibug', we can see the lessons Ladybug learned in 'Reflekta' sticking, with Ladybug listening to and valuing Cat Noir's input, unlike how the last time he tried to give her advice in a Chloé situation in 'Evillustrator', when she acknowledged he was right but couldn't bring herself to follow his advice. She also flirts with Cat Noir of her own volition, when she rings his bell. Cat Noir also keeps showing genuine warmth towards Ladybug instead of being just cheeky, when Ladybug compliments him. They affirm their bond after taking down Antibug.
The events of 'Reflekta' and 'Antibug' together influence what happens in 'Volpina', where Marinette is very suspicious of a new superhero showing up, without ever suspecting she could have been an Akuma in disguise. Cat Noir is her partner, and Cat Noir is her only partner. She’s not only learned his value, but has grown possessive over him. There's no need for any outsider. This jealousy over Cat Noir is actually something Marinette doesn't get over during the first three seasons the way she learns to deal with her jealousy over Adrien.
By the time 'The Collector' happens, Adrien has developed enough trust in his partner to ultimately believe her over her suspicions about Gabriel being Hawk Moth. This episode also has the first time Marinette voices concern over Cat Noir's emotional well-being instead of merely physical, who, of course, can't tell her what's wrong because it would break the secret identity clause.
'Prime Queen' has some very nice mutual Ladynoir flirting at the start of the interview. However, they're both mortified when Nadja comes out with the pictures. Cat Noir is confused, because he had no idea that their relationship could even give that impression, he must have been feeling like he hasn't been making much progress in getting closer to Ladybug. Meanwhile, Marinette goes defensive for the first time since 'Lady Wifi' only, this time, even more so. She even runs out on Cat Noir when he, very understandably, wants an explanation why he head to learn from a reporter that she'd planted one on him instead of from her. The episode confirms that Marinette will refuse to, in any way, discuss anything romance-related in relation to Cat Noir, even when there's an innocent explanation, like breaking an Akuma's spell. She's so defensive it's suspicious.
We also have another occasion of Marinette "pretending" to be in love with Cat Noir to solve a problem. While Cat Noir purrs either over the confession, having her close, or both. Marinette also jumped at the chance to "pretend" to confess her love so eagerly, that it left Prime Queen unimpressed. Still, Marinette refused to commit to the "ruse" enough to kiss Cat Noir while he's actually conscious and aware of it, because then she'd have to deal with the aftermath of kissing him.
'Dark Owl' has the first true test of faith between Ladybug and Cat Noir, when both of them have to trust the other not to look while they have to recharge. Although, considering 'The Collector', this is actually the first test only for Ladybug. At the end of the episode, Adrien also genuinely asks Ladybug out on a date for the very first time when they unexpectedly have free time from Owl-sitting, but Marinette preferred to skip off to spend time with Alya since she hadn’t gotten to see her while being so busy with The Owl's antics for so long.
'Glaciator' has Cat Noir planning an actual outing for Ladybug. The thing is, before 'Glaciator', Marinette's response to Cat Noir asking her out has always been that she has other plans, no can do. However, in 'Glaciator', she specifically says: "We'll see," and then she ends up ghosting him because she forgot to even send him a message that she didn't feel like going anywhere. At the same time, Gabriel purposefully stands him up for dinner, causing Adrien to project onto the Ladybug situation so hard that he doesn't think Ladybug even sees him as a real friend. Considering Adrien was under the same impression about Marinette in 'Puppeteer 2', it is typical for Marinette to send these kinds of mixed signals (which is fitting, considering how clear communication seems to be the biggest bullet point in her character development agenda).
On the upside, Cat Noir's compromised emotional state led to him being more frank about his feelings to first Marinette and later to Ladybug, finally making Marinette understand that Cat Noir is actually in love with her and how sensitive her partner can really be and that she can hurt his feelings. Notably, in this episode, Marinette particularly enjoys employing her "Pretend to be in love with Cat Noir" gambit, this time even going as far as kissing him, after finding out he's actually in love with her. Indeed, at the end of the episode, her rejection to Cat Noir is entirely focused on her having feelings for someone else (as well). She never once said she doesn't love him, and, in fact, never claims so in the English dub.
In 'Sapotis' we also see a brief glimpse of Marinette's jealousy over Cat Noir when he welcomes Alya onto the team so warmly but, because Rena Rouge was a teammate Marinette herself chose and trusts, she doesn't feel threatened enough to express it more than by merely keeping an eye on their interaction. 'Sapotis' also starts the arc of Cat Noir starting to lose faith in Ladybug having his best interest in mind when Rena Rouge appears out of nowhere and he's expected to just accept that no-questions-asked.
'Gorizilla' notably has Marinette repeatedly voicing her belief that Cat Noir will show up, something Adrien appreciates a great deal, going as far as blushing over something so simple. He's astounded by the fact that his Lady has faith in him, but it seems he still believes it despite the notion being strange to him.
'Frightningale' really drives home the arc going on in this season. 'Riposte' was the first time we saw Ladybug and Cat Noir seamlessly working together to neutralize an Akuma, but in this episode, they move in perfect synch while fighting Frightningale while handcuffed together. Cat Noir and Ladybug's teamwork has reached phenomenal levels.
I've repeatedly said that 'Syren' is less about Cat Noir and Ladybug's relationship and more about Fu's relationships with his two chosen. Still, this is the episode where Marinette gets put on the spot and comes through for her partner and Cat Noir learns that Ladybug keeping secrets from him wasn't of her own volition, but because of Fu, restoring his faith in her completely.
It's most likely because of the trust Ladybug showed towards him in 'Gorizilla' and their perfectly synchronized teamwork in 'Frightningale' that Cat Noir tries to confess to Ladybug again in 'Frozer'. These two episodes could give Cat Noir hope that he might be winning Ladybug over, especially since, as I said before, Ladybug has not said she doesn't have feelings for him. But she, of course, rejects him, although it's notably with more wistfulness than the last time, especially when she comments how she doesn't think it's possible for the "other boy" to not be a concern. 'Frozer' takes place during the arc in season two that covers Marinette's growing frustration at her inability to progress with Adrien the way she wants to and the discontent shows in her interaction with Cat Noir as well.
The change in how Marinette regards Cat Noir's input in fights between season one and two is especially noticeable in 'Style Queen' and 'Maledictator'. Both times Cat Noir is absent in a fight and this influences how Marinette approaches fighting the Akumas. In 'Style Queen' Marinette tries to play it sneaky but also needs to be saved by Plagg's intervention in his holder's absence. In 'Maledictator', Marinette's plan involved siccing the brainwashed Cat Noir on the Akuma's goons. Cat Noir has become necessary to Marinette, which is why he's able to galvanize her during 'Heroes' Day' by reminding her that the two of them against the world is what's always worked.
Season three as a whole revolves around Adrien losing faith that Ladybug could ever return his feelings the way he wishes and Marinette getting several warning signs about how she could lose Cat Noir. I might even go as far as saying that this season has negative Ladynoir development (in that their relationship grows more frayed and brittle instead of stronger).
A big reason for this new development direction is 'Reflekdoll', which, according to the production codes, happens early in the season. In this episode, Ladybug and Cat Noir learn the worst possible (false) lessons about themselves and each other and they carry those lessons for the rest of the season. In my 'Reflekdoll' conflict analysis, I wrote that Ladybug basically "learns" that Cat Noir is fae-like in that he isn't bothered by mortal things like stress or heartbreak. Cat Noir, meanwhile, "learns" that, while it doesn't matter if Ladybug makes a mistake because she can always fix it, him making a mistake makes him fundamentally less worthy as a hero and a person, so he could never be as valuable as Ladybug even as a person and not only strategically.
'Weredad', meanwhile, is the quintessential evidence episode for Marinette being both possessive and in denial about Cat Noir. She's literally pretending to be in love with him to him, while totally denying to herself that she feels anything for him, all the while she's feeling jealous over him seemingly moving on from her to be in love with her. The reason it's so important that no one but Marinette herself and Tikki know what went down in this episode is that Marinette's denial would never last if someone actually questioned this whole mess.
This is also an episode where we can clearly see the aftermath of what 'Reflekdoll' did to Cat Noir. He's once again projecting his situation with his father onto someone else (this time Tom), but he's also blatantly refusing to fight Tom at full strength, because he feels that it's his fault he got Akumatized, allowing himself to get hurt severely because he feels he's not that important, that he might even deserve it.
'Oblivio' has Ladybug once again do the whole: "How dare you say I'm in love with Cat Noir I am quitting this conversation right now!" routine. Cat Noir also got actual confirmation that something about him made his Lady want to kiss him when their memories had been wiped.
'Desperada' has the semi-infamous scene of Ladybug saying she doesn't need Cat Noir and, while she learns the valuable lesson that yes she flipping does, this is also the episode where Adrien repeatedly fails to use the Snake Miraculous correctly, having to give it up to someone else, feeling like an undeserving failure *turns to look at 'Weredad' and then at ‘Reflekdoll*.
Tumblr media
'Kwamibuster' is an episode where everyone keeps telling Ladybug not to trust Cat Noir and she believes it to the degree that she sees him as a bigger threat than a Kwami-targeting Akuma. In other words, Cat Noir being treated like a part-time hero again in season four is because of 'Kwamibuster'.
'Gamer 2.0' is actually an important episode for the Ladynoir dynamic. This is the episode where Marinette takes on way too much responsibility (voluntarily) and is really stressed about it, while Cat Noir dismantles that stress with his good humor and positive outlook. This episode enforces the lesson that was stated outright in 'Reflekdoll': "Everyone has their role", and Cat Noir's role is to be the jokester who makes Ladybug feel better. Also, Cat Noir doesn’t even hesitate to make a sacrifice play for his Lady, because he’s less important.
'Timetagger' foreshadows that Marinette's words of affirmation are losing their effect. She repeatedly says things like "I trust Cat Noir", "You're irreplaceable", "You know you're the best", but she doesn't know how to express her regard to Cat Noir in actions. And it's important to note that Adrien was raised among liars and manipulators. Even if he doesn't doubt Ladybug's intentions, he might doubt the depth and truth of her feelings for him. Because Ladybug is so nice, she might lie about valuing him to make him feel better. Words aren't enough when words are the only thing between you and your insecurities. This is also an episode that feeds into Cat Noir's worthlessness arc, with Bunnyx repeatedly insisting that Ladybug in the future is just awesome, while Cat Noir broke her Miraculous. Even Ladybug shoots him down at the end of the episode when he tries to ask for extra affirmation, claiming he "already knows he's great".
In 'Puppeteer 2', Cat Noir's hope from 'Oblivio' that Ladybug might be starting to be won over by him comes back to bite him when the wax Ladybug gets close to him by pretending to be coming onto him. He only realized she was a fake because she smelled wrong, something that comes back to haunt him in 'Ladybug', when he's faced with a perfect copy, whose only difference to the original is that she's apparently in love with him. The villains clearly know he’s so in love with Ladybug it sometimes blinds him.
With the villains using this clear weakness as an in, it's no wonder that Cat Noir finally makes the decision to move on from Ladybug in 'Heart Hunter'. He tries one more time to test her interest to see if she'd be jealous of him dating and, when she's merely overjoyed, he decides to finally move on to Kagami. However, when faced with the actual reality of Cat Noir giving his attention to someone else instead of her (instead of in addition to her), Ladybug actually finds herself hurt and questions the lack of "My Lady" in Cat Noir addressing her, but she instantly denies it when Cat Noir notices. Denial denial denial...
Aaaaaand that's a wrap! Putting this together made me realize just how interconnected the show really is but no one notices because there aren’t any secret identities being revealed, people getting together or lore being revealed. Even something that seems like a breather episode like 'Gamer 2.0' has a larger role in the arc of developing the relationship between our main heroes.

Consider this me letting you know we need a full fledged jealous light fic
your wish is my command!!
> warnings: smut, choking kink, a LOT of degradation, spit kink, jealousy.
“Y/N, could you look at this for a second? I need an outside opinion.” L’s voice called from the front of the room while you helped Misa get ready for her fake interview (thanks a lot, Matsuda.)
“Sure!” You walk over to L, the raven haired boy sitting in his usual unconventional position, knees to his chest in the rolling chair that sat before a couple computers and a large, wide scale screen displaying security camera footage from different parts of headquarters.
“What do you think about this, anything stick out to you? I want to know if I’m grasping at straws here.” He asks, his eyes wandering down towards your chest as you lean over the back of the chair, your hair dangling down to rest on his shoulder as you look at his computer.
“Hmm, what is it?”
“It’s a schedule of sorts, of days where the most criminals were killed in the past couple of weeks.”
“Well, they all seem to be really concentrated on the weekends and some Fridays. Maybe that tells us something about Kira’s new schedule.”
“Perfect, my thoughts exactly. Thank you Y/N, you can go now.”
“Anytime,” You turn on your heels to leave, only to knock a pen cup off of the desk with your hip, pencils and pens scattering the floor below with an irritating crash.
“Oh jeez, sorry about that.” You bend over (coincidentally) in front of L, meticulously picking up each spilled object and placing them back into the hard mesh-style cup. L’s eyes stay on you as you stand back up, placing your hand on the arm of his chair for stability.
“Sorry about the noise, hope I didn’t disturb your hard work.” You ruffle his thick charcoal hair, somehow managing to make it messier than usual before heading back to the back of the room where you began to help Misa with her pigtails and rehearse her lines.
Wrapping Misa’s blonde locs with a hair tie, you glance over at Light, who sat near L. His eyes were on you- how long had he been watching? His gaze was stern and he pointed to the phone in his hand and then pointed at you. You finished Misa’s pigtail before fishing your phone from your jacket pocket and checking the notification that lay at the top of your screen.
light<3
we’ll talk after work.
You look up from the bright screen, furrowing your eyebrow at Light questioningly. He types a quick message on his phone before looking back up at you, your phone digging.
light<3
you know exactly what. don’t play stupid.
You look back up, but before you could question him, he was already turned around in his chair, fast away at work typing. You let out a sigh, stuffing your phone back into your pocket, dread racking through your body at what Light could possibly be upset about this time.
________________
Late in the evening the dimness and sleepiness of dusk filled the task force headquarters, everyone deciding to call it quits for the day and go back to their respective rooms. You, however, have a dreadful appointment with Light. You make your way to his room, holding your breath before opening up the door.
You shut the door behind you, resting your hands folded in front of you politely and looking at your feet. Light approaches you wordlessly, reaching his hand behind you to lock the door.
You were in for it.
Quickly, he places his knee in between your legs and shoves you against the door frame, placing one hand lightly on your throat and the other on the door, blocking your left side.
“Do you take me for an idiot, Y/N? Tell me, do you?” He pushes his knee further into your crotch, punctuating his words, earning a gasp from you.
“N-no.”
“Really? Is that the truth? I saw you with L today. Acting like a fucking slut, flirting with him right in front of me.”
“I didn’t, I wasn’t, Light. I promise.”
He tightens his grip on your throat, pushing you harder against the door. “Don’t lie to me. It won’t work. I bet you did that on purpose, huh?” He lets his free hand trail down your body, caressing your curves as he inches closer to your bottom half, dragging his fingers along your upper thigh. “Was it all to get attention from me? To make me jealous, maybe? God, you’re so fucking needy.”
His fingers reach up under your skirt, lightly brushing his fingers against the fabric of your already wet panties. You whine- you wanted more.
“You’re so damn desperate to be touched, look at you. You’re already soaking wet and I’ve barely touched you. Have you been thinking about this? Were you imagining me fucking you while you bent over for L?”
“I didn’t- I wasn’t trying to flirt with him. I promise Light, please. I would never do that to you.”
He removes his hand from your panties and smacks you on your cheek, enough to turn your head, causing a cry to come from your throat. “I don’t wanna hear the excuses. Just shut up.”
You rub your thighs together with a small whine, upset at the lack of warmth from Light’s fingers.
“Hah,” he chuckled, “If you want me so bad, then stop misbehaving.” He brings his hand back up under your skirt, hooking his finger in the waistband on your panties and pulling them down to pool around your ankles. Slowly, he swipes a finger across your slit, careful not to give in to what you wanted. “Mmm, so wet for me, baby, you really are such a needy whore, aren’t you? You want my fingers, huh?”
“Mhmm” You whine, unsure if you’d be able to form a sentence with how clouded your head felt.
“Use your words. I can’t understand you when you mumble.”
“Please, please, I want your fingers Light. Just please, touch me.”
Complying, he dipped one finger inside you, pumping in and out agonizingly slow.
“Light, faster.” You sighed breathily.
“Hm?”
“Faster, please go faster. I need more.”
“Such an bratty little bitch, always needing more and more and more. God, you’re such a slut.”
He dips another slender digit inside you, pumping in and out much faster. His thumb finds your clit, rubbing it in circles while his fingers curl into your g-spot.
“Oh god, Light, it feels so good.”
“Yeah?” He adds a third finger, “I bet you like that, fucking whore. You get off on me so easily.” He quickens his pace, hitting your g-spot repeatedly and abusing your clit.
“Light, I’m gonna...can I come?” You choke out between moans.
“Fine. Go ahead, cum on my fingers like the good little slut you are.”
Obeying, you climaxed with a call of his name. Light removed his fingers from your heat, lifting them up to examine the mess you made on them.
“Open up.” He commanded. You opened your mouth, and Light shoved his three fingers into your mouth, pushing them further down as you licked your liquid off of them.
“Hmm, taste good?” Light asked, smirking. You nod frantically.
“Go, get on the bed.”
“B-but my legs hurt.” You whine.
“Did I stutter? Follow my directions.”
Hesitantly you comply, walking slowly (and slightly painfully) towards the bed in the middle of the room. Light, impatient, grabs a fistful of your hair and shoves your head into the mattress, hovering over you, your ass against his crotch.
“You walk too slow. What’s so hard about following directions? You’re such an annoying little brat, do you even deserve to be fucked?”
“Yes, yes! I do, please, fuck me.”
“Hah, so pathetic and needy,” He unbuckles his pants, pulling himself out from his boxers, pumping a few times, “You enjoy being used for what you are, don’t you?”
You nod, earning a slap on your ass from Light.
“What did I say earlier? Use your words. You only get what you beg for.”
“Yes, yes Light. I like it.”
“You like what?”
“Being a slut for you, only for you Light. I love the way you use me.”
“That’s right.” He praises. “Now turn around, I wanna see your face when I fuck you so hard you can’t think straight.”
You turn around, now laying on the bed with your stomach facing up. You spread your legs, beckoning Light to hurry up. He places the head of his cock on your slit, teasingly rubbing up and down.
“Tell me how bad you want me. How much of a whore you are for me, how much I own you.”
“I want you so bad, Light,” You whine impatiently, “Please fuck me, you own me, just use me and fuck me, please, I need it so bad.”
“God, you’re such a good little slut for my cock.” Finally, he pushes himself in, causing you to moan loudly. You feel self conscious about your vocality, wondering if the others hear your moans or if they’re already asleep, and that’s when it hits you.
“L-Light, the security cameras...” You manage between moans as Light thrusts into you.
“The cameras? Oh, what? Is the little slut worried about L watching this footage? Well, you weren’t so worried about him seeing you like this earlier when you were flirting with him, bending over for him. I bet your whore ass doesn’t even mind that L will see you getting fucked like the needy bitch you are.”
“Light, I- oh fuck, Light, I told you, I wasn’t flirting with L...”
Light removes one hand from your hip to roughly grab your jaw, bringing your face closer to his before he spits in your open mouth. “Don’t talk back to me. Didn’t I tell you this? Now swallow.”
You do, closing your mouth to swallow his spit down.
“Hah, I bet you like that, don’t you? You’re such a pathetic disgusting whore, you like when I spit in your mouth.” He thrusts hearder, emphasizing his words.
“God, you’re so tight.” He groans.
His grip on your hips tightens as he thrusts harder, hitting your g-spot over and over again. Your hips buck in pleasure and you can’t hold back the slew of curses and moans spilling from your lips.
“Light, I’m gonna...”
“Yeah? Come for me a second time, baby. Come all over so I know just how much you like being used as a whore.”
Light twitches inside you, letting himself release and filling you up with his cum at the same time you finished.
He collapses beside you, only the sound of both of your heavy panting filling the room. Eventually, Light gets up, tucking himself back into his jeans before walking to the bathroom connected to the bedroom, fetching a damp washcloth and tossing it at you.
“Clean yourself up. You did so good for me, beautiful. And hey,” He leans in to your ear, “Don’t ever try to make me jealous again, ‘kay?”

little nightmares 2, would the world have been saved if the Black Tower fell?
A couple of weeks after the games release, David Mevrik, the lead narrative designer, sat down in an interview and answered some much needed questions about the little nightmares 2 game. Naturally, in an effort to maintain the mystery of the world, David proceeds to take every question that is thrown at him and gives a bizarre and cryptic answer in return. The only thing that he does confirm directly is the fact that little nightmares 2 take place before little nightmares 1, meaning that little nightmares 2 IS a prequel!
(link to interview)
https://www.gamingbible.co.uk/features/games-little-nightmares-2-ending-explained-writer-confirms-prequel-20210311
Although this one answer helped fans alleviate some major confusion, it still does not give us the answers needed to determine what exactly is going on in the little nightmares world. As the interview ends, David leaves us with his cryptic answers knowing fully well that we will do everything we can to try and decipher them in order to theorize for ourselves what is actually happening in this world of little nightmares. Now, out of al the things he was asked, one question in particular had constantly left my mind wondering and asking, “what did he mean by that?”
The question I am referring to is,  “ Who built the Signal Tower, and what was the inspiration behind it (both in terms of in-game lore and your IRL inspirations)?”
to which David replies, “The world of Little Nightmares doesn't work that way, creatures and places exist for a reason. In the first game, The Maw exists because the hunger exists, and here, The Signal Tower exists because the need for escapism exists. Sure, in the game it beams out The Transmission to everyone's TVs, but it would be trite and wrong to say that it's only about the ubiquity of screens. It's inspired by this idea of the spectacle; this thing that delights you in order to destroy you, that corrupts the way you see the world and blinds you to the true monsters. We have centuries of inspiration for something so foul, you just need a good pair of sunglasses.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Out of all the details that can be taken from his cryptic answer, there was always one piece that had constantly stood out to me, “ The Maw exists because the hunger exists, and here, The Signal Tower exists because the need for escapism exists. Sure, in the game it beams out The Transmission to everyone's TVs, but it would be trite and wrong to say that it's only about the ubiquity of screens”
Out of all the words displayed within these sentences, David specifically chose “Trite” and “Ubiquity” in his response. Before, many of use were certain that we understood exactly what he meant, but did we really? when you look up the definition of these two words you would come to find that they mean so much more:
Trite- overused and consequently of little import; lacking originality or freshness.
Ubiquity- the fact of appearing everywhere or of being very common.
what does this mean exactly? it means that David might have been trying to tell us that just because the tower sends out its transmission to the world, it would be boring and unoriginal to believe that the world is the way it is just because there are a ton of tvs  broadcasting a single transmission. So then, if it truly isnt just about the tower and the tvs then what else could there be...or rather...what else is happening in the world that we don't yet know about?...what even is this world?!...perhaps... we have already been given that answer.
In the school, when mono is trying to solve the chess puzzle, there is something within the room that many of us, at the time, had overlooked and taken for granted. This particular item was something so common that we didn't even think about just how important it truly was within the little nightmares games and its world!, what exactly is this item that I am referring to?...its a region map...of the little nightmares world!
Tumblr media
for those who do not know, world maps are often divided up into smaller pieces  to better organize them. The map seen within the school, reveals to us, a piece of the worlds geography!
For the longest time, many of us had wondered what else was beyond the maw, sure we have seen the nest and the pale city, but this map is the first solid piece of evidence we have come across that tells us just how large the world of little nightmares is. What’s even more interesting is that this map, does not have the signal tower or the thin man drawn over it to symbolize their control/influence over the world!, what does it have drawn over every inch of it?... the all seeing eye!
Tumblr media
For years we had suspected that an entity of higher power was present in the little nightmares games and for the longest time many of us had believed that the eyes, which were referenced all over the world, were a hint towards that higher entity. In another interview question, David is even asked, “A lot of fans believe that someone, some unseen threat, has been pulling the strings in the world Little Nightmares. Is this the case... and might we meet them one day?”
To which David replies, “That depends if I'm ever allowed to go out in public again.”
When David answers the question, he talks as if he were in a position where he lacks the free will to make his own simple choices, that he needs the permission of another presence that’s currently watching over him... just who or what is this other presence? well... isn't it obvious...its the eyes!
Near the end of little nightmares 2, after mono frees six from her monstrous form, fans finally get the chance to meet the entity responsible for all the suffering faced by not just mono and six, but the entire world! As the tower begins to crumble, it reveals to us its true form, a gigantic fleshy mass comprised of giant eyes!
Tumblr media
Whats even more surprising is that this giant eye entity may not just be located in the black tower. In Little nightmares 1, as well as the LN1 DLC, we see pictures of a similar eye within a structure/building!.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However unlike the eye entity within the black tower, the eye seen in portraits on the maw appears to be located within some sort of light house...which ironically enough, if you look up the concept art of the maw, you would come to find that the maw had a lighthouse located atop the small island it carries!
Tumblr media
And I know what you are thinking, “but wait this is concept art, it didn't even make it into the final game”, yes, but the fact that this specific art is still seen REPEATEDLY throughout the maw in little nightmares 1 as well as the DLC, could possibly hint that this eye bearing lighthouse might still exist,  somewhere within the maw! What does this mean exactly? it means that even the maw, a large cruise ship that travels all throughout the oceans of the world, bears within it a large entity similar to the eye entity within the black tower of the pale city! What’s even more insane is that these two very distinct eyes, from two very distinct places, could very well be just two small pieces of a much larger mass watching over the entire world as it feeds upon its residents in one way or another! To be fair, we still dont know what exactly this thing is, let alone how it came to be in the world, but what we do know is that the residents of the world are obsessed with it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David has always said that the maw exists because hunger exists and that the tower exists because escapism exists, but if each place existed from one corrupt human desire then I wonder... are there other structures like them in the world?, and do these other structures revolve around an entirely different existing human need that has been corrupted by the eye entities hypnotic light/spell ?...maybe...
Then again...this does beg the question... If the maw sank and if the tower was left to fall, would we have truly ended the nightmarish world that mono and six resided in or would we have simply ended two very small parts of a much larger nightmare occurring in the world? If the eye is truly responsible for all the suffering seen throughout the childrens lives, then what would the children of this world even do to fight the nightmare that they are trapped in ? would they continue to run and hide, hoping that it is enough to help them survive until adult hood?.... or would they need to accept the reality of this world... take the power that’s there...learn to make it their own and become themselves... little nightmares...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
honestly... whos to say.. should these children choose to make these heart wrenching decisions, would they still be viewed by the all seeing eye as victims?... or would they be seen as threats that need to be stopped before they have the chance to cripple the power it has used to feed upon the world it has latched itself onto....... I guess we will just have to wait and see... but hey, that’s just a theory, a little nightmares theory!

The sigh came from deep in your chest wanting to drop to the floor for an exhaustion induced nap, but an airport wasn’t the best place. Large sunglasses obscured people from seeing the deep bags under your eyes on the way to the film lot. It was coming full circle, the change different from the frantic schedule you had had recently. When Kenny called you hadn’t hesitated in packing and buying a ticket.
“Miss Y/L/N?” The voice pulled you from your thoughts as a man holding a card with your name displayed. He was of Puerto Rican descendent with a young girl beside him with similar features, “I’m Ricardo. This is my daughter Madison.”
“It’s nice to meet you. I’m-“
“Y/N Y/L/N.” Madison supplied with a beaming grin on her face having recognized you from your role as Sabrina in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina along with movies.
All you could do was send a fragile smile in response after a long sleepless flight to Canada.
Madison’s eyes saddened at the exhaustion you carried, “I can fangirl later. You looked really tired.”
“Kenny saw and asked me to come over the guise of help, but he knows I need a break. He’s lucky I don’t need to be on set for a few weeks.” You replied, covering a yawn as you found yourself at a car, the walk a blur.
Unintentionally you found yourself asleep in the backseat the moment you settled back there for the drive. You had filmed in Vancouver before, so it wasn’t a huge deal, and the Reyes’ duo didn’t have the heart to wake you up.
“We’re here,” Madison whispered with the back-car door opened. Your eyelids fluttering at her voice, giving Madison a closer look at your face.
Walking on set, you saw Kenny giving one of his pep talks before he cut himself off at the sight of you. The actors surrounding him furrowed their brows as the legendary director power walked to a person concealed behind Mads.
“Sweetheart.” Kenny beamed, pulling his niece in for a hug before leaning back to scan her features, “You need a nap.”
“I need to meet your new cast.” You snickered stepping around the man to the three actors he had abandoned to see you. You found amusement in their widening eyes at the sight of the Y/N walking to them.
“Oh, my shit.” Owen gasped freaking out as the actress co-starring in the new Spider-Man trilogy came closer.
Last night Owen, Charlie and Jeremy had hosted a movie night in the rented apartment the first two rented. They had quickly made their way through Captain America: Civil War before watching the following movies with Spider-Man. You had a cameo in Captain America: Civil War before becoming a star in Homecoming and Far From Home.
“We manifested her.” Charlie hissed frantically fixing his set costume growing a blush at the smile you wore. He could feel the hair stylist on standby glaring at his tousled locks.
The girl in question came to a stop before the three guys portraying the phantoms of the show in the second season. You couldn’t help but chuckle at the expressions each one of them had.
“Hello.” You greeted flattered when the tall blonde one turned a blossom pink at the voice of an angel. Charlie and Owen had developed celebrity crushes on you.
In revenge, Tori, a returning choreographer and background character, saw Charlie’s expression along with a familiar girl. After filming season one ended the previous year you had stopped by during the filming process of CAOS to catch up with Kenny. Tori had been there and you two became friends.
“Hey!” Tori grinned, pulling you into a hug, “These three binged your MCU movies last night, and Charlie’s wallpaper is you.”
“Tori!”
“This is what you get for telling Booboo about the poster!” Tori called to the Canadian boy jogging out his area. Charlie’s cheek darkened more than Owen’s as your smile grew bigger.
“No worries Ghost. Luke definitely my favourite character and gotta say you should have been on Charmed more than two episodes.” You supplied walking backwards to Kenny once more yearning for a night’s rest after the flight.
“Holy shit.” Charlie choked smacking Jeremy’s arm repeatedly, “She knows me. Oh, oh, OH. She’s seen me-“
“-Getting it on for a scene.” Jeremy snickered as his friend grew more and more flustered, “That was tame compared to her and Tom going at it.”
Charlie’s face dropped being reminded of the explicit scene you had done with Tom Holland in the movie that came out near the end of 2020. The Devil All the Time was the only film out of the MCU you had done with Tom. You had played the promiscuous daughter of a devout, loyal churchgoer and close friend of the preacher.
“Didn’t they date for a few months?” Owen questioned thinking back to the media mayhem during the virtual press for the film.
Owen was correct with the chemistry between you and Tom it was natural you would do interviews together via shared video chats. Charlie watched every single one that came out with interest. He hadn’t even expected the film to do so dark and explicit, but you had a natural talent.
“English, handsome, actor-“ Charlie started to list off on the English actor with a far more extensive list of credits. Charlie felt like a Canadian child in the city of Los Angeles compared to your leading man.
“-runs a charity with his family.” Jeremy continued raising one eyebrow, “At least he isn’t tall. You’d be fully screwed.”
Charlie shoved his teasing friends away with a smirk of his own as the trio continued on to the film. Charlie put his feelings on the back burner to focus on the storyline and emotions of the scene.
Tumblr media
“Spider-Man Three baby!” The English accent shouted from the phone with only an ocean separating the two actors. Tom hadn’t even greeted you before screaming at the news you both received; despite the scripts from a few weeks prior the sequel had fully been greenlighted
Your head tossed back at the childlike glee on the older adult, clearly displaying the two years really mean he was two years old. After meeting on the set of Civil War along with Harrison, you had become friends. Followed with the following MCU appearances, it had been a surprise to be cast in Devil All the Time.
“Insane.” You started making your way through the set to where Kenny had texted you from. It was closing to the end of your vacation.
In the few weeks, you had reconnected with Tori on her breaks along with becoming good friends with the cast members. Something clicked between you and the core four of the show even if Madison sometimes still got starstruck.
“Did you read the script?” Tom questioned quirking his infamous eyebrow his fans wholly adored. You found it amusing, to be honest, that every character he portrayed had the same eyebrow.
“Not fully. I’m surrounded by people, and unlike you, I prefer not to jeopardize my career with marvel.” You teased glancing up as Charlie and Owen made their way over, “I’ll be flying out in a few days for filming.”
Tom nodded his head, “I got get back. Jacob and Haz are visiting. Remember to film the announcement! Bye Love!”
You gave a thumbs up before Tom ended the facetime glancing up at the duo who each raised their eyebrows. Charlie’s mask nearly breaking at Tom’s goodbye. Charlie could feel the cover of his feelings falling more and more each day.
“Announcement?” Owen questioned, slipping his jacket on over his shoulders having changed from his Alex outfit.
“Nothing.” You waved it off, starting to walk backwards with a smile that Charlie thought made your eyes shine brighter than stars.
The boys followed behind on the walk to the house Jeremy and Carolynn had decided to rent during filming. You had been crashing there as Jeremy didn’t want Carolynn to be alone with his filming schedule. It also gave the perfect place for your plan. Last few nights you had binged the marvel movies again ending with Far From Home.
The living room was decked out by Carolynn with your help from earlier as she was the only know that knew. Everyone settled in the living room with Mr Reyes there as well who had quickly become a father figure to you.
“So, I wanted everyone here for a reason. I’m sure you’ve noticed I’ve been reading a script and I have something to open.” You started thanking Jeremy as he brought in the package, he had no clue of the contents, “Now nobody says any spoilers for season two.”
You turned on the camera Paul Becker had supplied with a small smile having already filmed the opening sequence. You sat on the floor in the camera shot, opening the big box to hand out the smaller boxes to your friends. Charlie, Owen, Jeremy, Madison, Savannah, Booboo and every else glanced at the non-descript red box.
“Open them.” You urged grinning as the room went silent except for the tape ripping off the packages.
In each individual box was marvel themed candy, a plushie of Spider-Man along with signed cards from the Avengers actors and the MCU Spider-Man cast. At the very bottom, all it said was to look up at you. Instead of facing them with their looks of shock, you addressed the camera.
“Tom and I are so incredibly happy to announce that Spider-Man 3 is in the beginning process of filming.” You beamed at the camera listening to the intense noise of your friends screaming, “we can’t reveal anything else about the film, but the script is immaculate as usual. You’ll get to see Harper on the screen once more.”
“WHAT!” The collective scream behind you came as you waited a second before ending the video. You’d have to replay it before sending to marvel for the finishing touches with Tom’s version and then you could post it on Instagram.
“Surprise!” You spoke to the group behind you all in states of excitement, “You don’t know how much I’ve wanted to tell you guys! I got the script a few days before I came.”
“Holy shit.” Owen spoke, laughing at he shook his head, “You managed to get autographs from fucking Iron Man himself.”
“I got connections.” You snorted meeting the gaze of Charlie, “Nah, Downey’s kids came for a visit, and I kept them company. Downey offered to do anything, and I took the favour.”
The surprise wore off as the group mingled, but Charlie’s eyes stayed pinned to your form as you sent a message to Tom. Locking your phone to noticed his eyes.
“Hey Charlie.” You smiled, sitting on the couch next to him. His expressive eyes showing a silver screen of emotions you couldn’t quite decipher.
The corner of his mouth tilted up in response to the way his name rolled off your tongue, sending his heart stuttering. A cold sweat appearing when you grasped his hand in yours in a confident manner.
“So, you leave soon?” Charlie murmured moving closer to hear you among the chatter of the group. Your lips turned down for a split second as you felt the sadness of leaving.
It was refreshing to be on set without the demands of makeup, costumes, filming and choreography. To see the action and magic but not be part of it was a definite change you had needed desperately. But to leave Charlie hurt.
“My call time is in three days. Need to get ready to bring Harper Osbourne back to the big screen.” You replied, loosening your grip on his hand, “I don’t really want to go back. I’m gonna miss you…and everyone else of course.”
Unaware to the eyes watching in anticipation you and Charlie conversed further on the upcoming months. To the great disappointment of the house began to clear out, Owen for an early call time. Savannah was meeting with her brother, and Mr Reyes was taking Madison home.
It left Jeremy and Carolynn to retire to their bedroom while you stayed on the couch with Charlie for longer. The emotions building from the prior weeks, bubbling to the surface. Hearts thudding in their chest Charlie leaned in glancing at your lips; yours glancing at his.
Who moved first couldn’t be known, but as your lips brushed together just barely you felt grounded and peaceful. If he leaned closer, you wonder what the kiss would make you feel.
“I’d like to kiss you.” Charlie murmured startled at the confidence he had gained, “But before I do. Do you have something with Tom?”
“Other than onscreen chemistry? Absolutely nothing.” You spoke barely louder than a whisper to the boy that had become so much more than some actor.
He was Charlie. The goofy boy that put a smile on anyone’s face with an impromptu concert in the middle of a crowded street. He lived life to the fullest without any regrets. He was passionate about his work, music and the environment.
Those thoughts evaporated when lips met another pair of lips in what might be described as the best kiss ever. No fireworks felt as Wattpad would say, but instead, it was the heady warmth of hot chocolate on a cold day; a warm shower after a long stressful day. It was home and perfect.

a/n: this was totally random but I had so much fun writing this!
You smiled over at Jamie as he set up his laptop to do his interview, the kitchen cabinets falling as a background. “Shh, baby girl.” Your attention fell to the one month old cradled in your arms, her face contorting as she began to wail. Jamie glanced over, despite her screams he looked at her like she was the whole world, which to both of you, she was.
Well, for him, it was both you and Elle.
“I’m sorry, I’ll take her for a walk while you do your interview.” You assured him as he walked over, he nodded silently but put his hands out for her, still having a few moments before he had to be ready. You handed her over with ease, using the time to get her stroller ready with a few toys for her to stare at. “What’s wrong? Mhm, pretty girl.” Jamie questioned her softly, bouncing her in his arms lightly, you felt the warmth rush to your face as he caught you watching him, a soft chuckle falling from his lips as he turned his head back down to Elle who was calming in his arms. He walked over to where you were with her stroller, easily putting her down in it as she looked up curiously at the toys hanging above her. “It shouldn’t take me too long.” He mumbled, ducking down to kiss you quickly, you smiled against him. “Ok.” You hummed, it wasn’t the plan initially to hide her from the world for this long. You were going to post something when she was born, but she had made a grand entrance in the middle of the night via c-section and then before you knew it, a month had already passed and only the team knew of her, and your families of course. But the public was all the clueless, you and Jamie hadn’t been together for much more than six months before you’d gotten pregnant, not that you would change it, because by then you already knew Jamie was the one.
And he confirmed it by proposing the day you got home from the hospital with Elle, slipping her into a onesie that said “will you marry my daddy?” She had to be wearing it for nearly two hours before you even noticed, and when you did you burst into tears, terrifying Jamie who was in the kitchen making dinner for the two of you.
“What’s wrong? What, is she ok?” Jamie rambled, literally running into the living room where you sat with her sleeping in your arms. “Her outfit!” You laughed through your tears, looking at him with a teary smile, he gasped, throwing himself down to one knee, pulling the ring box out of his pocket, he’d been walking around with it all day. “Really?” You asked, looking at Jamie, his face fell. “Of course, I love you so much, who cares if we did things a little out of order.” He assured you, his smile returning when you whispered yes.
“Maybe tonight, we'll tell everyone about her?” You offered as he turned to walk back to his computer, he froze, looking back at you with a grin. He’d loved the time of her being just your little secret, but there already been more times than he can count where he’d just wanted to post a photo of her sleeping on his chest, or the way she grabbed one of his fingers and not even be able wrap her hand fully around it. “Yes, I like that idea.” He mumbled, letting you disappear out the door with her afterwards.
The walk was nice, and quiet, you’d stopped and talked to one of your older neighbors as Elle fell asleep in the stroller, your neighbor gushed over her, saying how much she looked like his granddaughter. You thanked him repeatedly for his kind words, more time passing than you thought, and it was beginning to get a little too cold for Elle outside, so you gave him a nice goodbye and headed back for the house, assuming that by now Jamie would surely be done.
You walked in the door, hearing nothing, so you smiled and carefully got the stroller inside, thankfully not waking the baby, until the dog realized you were here. It wasn’t his fault, he was doing his job, barking when someone got here, but you rushed to shush him, it was too late, Elle woke up and started screaming, those newborn lungs still amazingly powerful. Then you heard it, Jamie, still talking to an interviewer over video chat, trying to ignore the wailing of his daughter. You cursed silently, snapping your fingers and sending the dog to his bed as you lifted Elle up, trying to soothe her as quickly as possible. You knew she would feel better if she was looking out at the pool, something you and Jamie had learned quickly in her first few days of life, outside in general, but if she saw the water in the pool she was instantly happier. But the problem with that, you’d have to walk right past Jamie with a screaming baby. He glanced over at you, shooting you a soft smile, motioning you over, and you hesitated but then remembered you were going to announce her arrival today anyways, you guessed it would just have to be like this instead. “Give me just a second.” Jamie spoke, leaving his spot in front of the computer, you watched him take large strides over to you, taking Elle from you with a smile. “Come on, please. I’ve got to show off both my girls.” He gave you a small pout, you looked at him incredulously. “I look terrible!” You protested, no match for his strength as he pulled you along by the hand. “Jam.” You whined, he only winked at you before sitting in the chair again, this time with Elle in her little baby sweat suit due to the chill outside. “Sorry about that.” He spoke, as if he didn’t just appear with a baby that no one knew about. No one spoke for a moment, trying to decide if they should ask.
Eventually a female reporter spoke up, “and who do you have with you now, Jamie?” She questioned, and your smile widened as he looked down at Elle in our adoration. “This is my daughter, Elle.” He spoke fondly, adjusting her to be more upright in his arms as she drifted off easily, more than likely exhausted from her screaming fit. “And my fiancé, Y/N, is just over there.” He pointed off screen to you, motioning you over, and you listened, not before giving him a glare. You walked up beside him, smiling at the camera, “hello.” You spoke softly, “sorry for interrupting.” You laughed lightly, a chorus of no’s and it’s fine came over the speaker, everyone buzzing as they thought of how they would get to be the firsts to report that Jamie Benn had a secret baby and his girlfriend was now his fiancé.
***
You sighed dramatically as Jamie fell down on the couch beside you, he smiled, pulling you into his side. “She went down good.” He assured you, handing over the monitor that was pointing at the bassinet in your bedroom. You nodded, “did you pick a picture of her to post?” You asked him, looking through your own phone already full of pictures of her and him. You smiled at your favorite one, from just the other day, Jamie asleep on the couch with her asleep on his chest, the dog laying between his legs as well. All three of them fast asleep. “Yeah.” Jamie answered you, typing away on his phone, you doing the same as you opened up Instagram and uploaded the photo, your caption reading,
“My beautiful family, Elle Heather Benn added on December 10th, 2020”
You refreshed your page, the likes already pouring in, congratulations and comments of how adorable she is were flooding your notifications, but one stood out in particular.
jamiebenn14 tagged you in a photo
You clicked on it, taking in the photo you didn’t even know he’d taken the night you came home, you were looking down at her, she was sleeping on your chest, your left hand laid on her back, your ring on full display. Of course he put the tag right on the ring so everyone would notice it.
“The two best things to happen to me in 2020, I’m a lucky man to call these two beauties my own.”
You looked up at him to see him already staring at you. “I love you.” You whispered, pulling him in for a kiss, “I love you.” He murmured, pulling back to kiss your forehead. “So much.” He added, looking at the monitor and then back at you, his feelings plain as day on his face, love and adoration.

you say we’re just friends
Pairing: Julie/Luke  Words: 1,695  Rating: G  Warnings: none  read on AO3
Summary:  "Alright, alright, this is actually taking me towards something here," James says, and the entire band looks at him. "The big question," he says, leaning forward in his seat, looking between all of the band members. "The real hunk of a question."
"Alright," Luke nods along, drumming his hands in his lap.
"Are Julie and Luke dating?"
[based off this Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello interview]
(*)
The screen fades in from black to show James sitting on the left side of the screen and the band, Julie and the Phantoms, sitting to his right.
"You guys are one of the hottest bands as of right now—having gone multiplatinum, earning three Grammy nominations, heading on a sold out world tour, a concert film to follow—you can't get much hotter than that." James says, shaking his head as the crowd cheers and the band on the couch looks to be literally vibrating with excitement next to him. "Guys, that's incredible."
"Isn't it?" the one in plaid says—Luke Patterson. He's sat in between Julie Molina and Reggie Peters, and on the end next to Reggie is Alex Mercer. All four of them are on the edges of their seats, leaning their elbows on their knees. "Our second album and we've already reached this level of success its…" he looks at the others. "I don't think we ever could have dreamed it up."
"Even if we could have it wouldn't have been this fast," Alex says. "We were literally playing in a garage two years ago."
"Yeah, yeah," Reggie jumps in. "Like, okay, two albums, great, we have so much more music, we've been writing for years, we have enough music for five or six albums. Going on tour, that was always the plan. The tour selling out? That was just—that was just incredible."
"And getting our nominations and going multiplatinum?" Julie shakes her head. "Unbelievable. It's unreal."
"No, no," James says, "it's very real. That's amazing though! Two years ago you were in a garage?"
"Yup," Luke nods. He tosses an arm around Julie and pulls her in. "We practically lived in Jules's garage from the time we were freshman in high school until we graduated and got paid. Because they signed us during our senior year, so we moved out on our own as soon as we could."
"Well, most of us," Reggie says.
"Julie still lives with her family," Alex says. "But us guys live together."
"That's sweet that you still live with your family," James says, smiling at Julie. "Or could you just not stand living with these three?"
"A little bit of both?" she laughs. "I'm really close with my family and I know with touring I won't see them often, so I want to spend time with them when I can. But also I'm at the guys' place nearly every day and I could never imagine living there. I clean up after them enough without living there."
"Hey, we do pretty good!" Luke frowns.
"I found a pizza box under your bed last month, Luke," Julie says, gagging. "There were still two pieces of pizza in it."
Luke furrows his eyebrows together. "Yeah, that was pretty nasty."
"Alright, alright, this is actually taking me towards something here," James says, and the entire band looks at him. "The big question," he says, leaning forward in his seat, looking between all of the band members. "The real hunk of a question."
"Alright," Luke nods along, drumming his hands in his lap.
"Are Julie and Luke dating?"
Julie and Luke throw their heads back and groan at the same time Reggie barks out a laugh and Alex bounces in his seat, pointing at James. "Yes!" he screams, drawing his hand back and thrusting it forward as he repeatedly points at the interviewer. "Asking the real questions, thank you."
"Oh, shut up," Luke says, waving Alex off.
"No," Alex says. "Well, actually, okay, because I'd love to hear the answer to this."
Luke rolls his eyes and looks back at James. "No, we're not."
James raises his eyebrows. He flicks his eyes between Luke's face and his arm that's resting on the couch behind Julie. "Really? Because you two look quite cozy—"
"Really," Julie says.
"Yeah," James says. "You look like a proper couple."
"Proper couple'a best friends," Luke grins, hooking his arm around Julie's neck and dragging her in closer to him.
"No," James says, monotone. "Like a couple who is dating. Alright, who is Perfect—"
"We're really not dating—"
"Who is Perfect Harmony abo—"
"I don't know what we can say, we're just not dating—"
"Who did you write Perfect Har—"
"We've never even considered dating, he's my best friend—"
"Perfect Harmony, who is it ab—"
"She's like the mom friend of the group, she keeps me in line—"
"Who is Perfect Harmony—"
"Mom friend? I'm the mom friend? I'm the—yeah, okay, yeah I'm the mom friend."
"Who's Perfect Harmony about?" James demands, looking between the two of them, now that there's finally a beat of silence. Alex sits off to the side with a grin that looks like it must ache, and Reggie looks absolutely bewildered at the display of voices that had just gone on. "You're the only two on the writing credit for that song—"
"Despite popular belief, it is possible to write a song without a specific source of inspiration," Luke says, leaning towards James like he's sharing a secret, but in doing so he leans in Julie's space, making James look even less convinced.
"Oh please," James laughs. "I bet you two wrote it about one another without even knowing it."
"Oh, did we?" Luke asks at the same time Alex laughs, "I am loving this."
"I think Luke wrote it about me," Reggie says, cupping his face in his hands like an angel.
Alex nudges Reggie with his elbow. "Dude, don't help them out of this."
"No, no, no, Reggie, help us out of this," Julie pleads.
Reggie looks between Alex and Julie with wide eyes. "I-I-I don't know what to do, I'm equally scared of both of you."
"Now, wait a minute," James jumps back in. "Julie, why do you need help out of this?"
"Because someone doesn't believe me and Luke," she says with a roll of her eyes.
"You're going to have to be more specific because I think the majority of your fans don't believe Luke and you," James presses. "I mean, you have heard of Juke, right?"
"Yeah," Luke nods. "And I've also heard of Lalex but Willie would straight up flatten me with his skateboard if I tried making a move on his boyfriend."
"I don't know, man," Reggie says clapping a hand on Luke's shoulder. "Given how Willie and Alex met, flattening you with his skateboard could be seen as Willie making a move."
"We're getting off track," Alex jumps in, leaning around Reggie to look at his other two band mates. "Willex is going strong, now I want to hear about Juke."
"Alex!" Julie cries.
Alex pulls a face, flattening his lips together and pulling them back in a poorly disguised smirk. "You two always say we need to give the people what they want—"
"Musically!" Luke yells, reaching over Reggie to shove at Alex. Reggie leans back into the couch, eyes wide and mouth turned into a deep frown.
"You two are awfully sensitive about this, aren't you?" James laughs from his chair. Julie buries her face in her hands and Luke sits back in his seat and shifts so his entire right side is pressed against hers. He presses his knee against hers, and she pushes hers back into his. "You're also awfully comfortable for a non-couple."
"To be fair Luke is one of the most tactile people you'll meet," Reggie says.
"I do have to—reluctantly—agree with that," Alex sighs. "We once found him cuddling with our lights designer while we were waiting to go on stage."
"But it's like everyone else is a substitute for Julie," Reggie adds. "She's his first choice."
"Dude! I thought you were on our side," Julie pouts.
"I'm on the side of truth and chaos. And truth that causes chaos."
"Alright, let's talk about this," James says, scooting forward so he's sat at the edge of his chair. "I think—"
"Oh god," Julie groans, falling forward so she's folded in half, her hair curtaining around her head and hiding her from everyone. Luke drops his hand from the back of the couch to rub her back soothingly. Julie mumbles something that no one hears, and Luke leans forward, asking her to repeat it. "I said, don't touch me, James is only going to use that against us."
Luke laughs. "I'd rather have a rumor that we're dating than not comfort my best friend."
"Alright, now we've really got to talk about this." James leans down so he's closer to Julie. "I think that the two of you," he says motioning between Luke and Julie, "love each other, but that you're scared of how it might affect the band."
"I think that Julie and I are just friends—"
"I don't believe you're just friends—"
"I don't—I don't care," Luke laughs. "I don't know what to tell you, man."
"The truth!"
"I've been trying!" Luke yells at the same time Julie shoots up and yells "we've been trying!"
"Alex? Reggie?"
"They tell us the same thing," Alex sighs. "We find it equally as hard to believe but in all the years we've known each other we've never lied to one another, at least not knowingly," he shares a look with Reggie who smirks knowingly at Alex, "so. We can't help you here, James."
James drops his head to hang between his shoulders. "So disappointing. Can you hear the hearts breaking?" he asks Julie and Luke.
"It's deafening," Julie deadpans.
"I can't hear myself think over how loud it is," Luke adds in the same tone.
"You could end it all—"
Julie turns to the camera. "And that's all the time we have today, folks! Thanks for watch—"
"All right, all right!" James huffs, waving his hand in front of Julie. "Don't—don't send them away! You've still got a performance!" He looks at the camera. "Don't listen to the lying liar, stay tuned because we've got a performance of Finally Free coming up after this!" He looks back at Julie and Luke and as the camera and audio fade out, asks, "okay, now that the cameras are off, give it to me seriously…"

Special Containment Procedures: 37 copies of Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse are currently stored in Site-15 low-risk item storage. Any additional copies found in civilian possession should be procured via ordinary means, preferably purchased under the guise of preservation or collection. Foundation webcrawler ETA-15-NATALYA is to monitor for keywords related to SCP-5094 and remove copies of its host software and discussions of its anomalous effects.
Update 2022/07/23: Approval of the use of SCP-5094 for internal training purposes is under review.
Description: SCP-5094 is a sapient character in the discontinued children's educational CD-ROM software Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse, released in June 1999 by Shoot the Moons Software. Its appearance is that of a stylized female humanoid, modeled as a two-dimensional cutout in a three-dimensional environment. It responds to the name "Miss J" and any feminine name beginning with J; documented examples include "Miss Julie", "Miss Jenny", and "Miss Joy".
----
spooks beat you to it<3
SCP-5094 is consistently amiable in temperament; its stated purpose is education, and any conversation occurring with SCP-5094 will center on the topic. It will often engage in "lessons" lasting upwards of thirty hours, including restroom, meal, and recreation breaks for students. It is able to instruct lessons on a presently undetermined number of subjects—past lesson subjects include particle physics, marine engineering, Vietnamese military history, and Cubist sculpture—but will always begin curricula with new students by teaching letters, colors, and numbers.
The advertising for Miss J’s Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse prominently featured appeals to single and working parents, with assurances that the software would keep their children occupied while they were unable to care for them. It is hypothesized that the target demographics of this advertising campaign led to SCP-5094’s anomalous properties remaining undiscovered for the entire period of its production. Miss J’s Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse reportedly sold fewer copies than expected, and Shoot the Moons Software subsequently filed for bankruptcy in January 2004.
Addendum 5094-1: Discovery Embedded Foundation agents were able to corroborate claims of a “living character” on an online forum dedicated to discussing abandonware1 on 2012/02/15, eight years after production of Miss J’s Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse ceased. After the existence of SCP-5094 was confirmed, it was initially classified as neutralized, as no copies of the program it resides in could be located. However, Junior Researcher Xenia Chau recovered a personal copy of the software from their home in June 2022 after being briefed on SCP-5094, after which active study began.
Test Log 5094-1 Students at an elementary school in the same district as Site-15 were contacted under pretense of academic research to test SCP-5094.
Test Date: 2022/06/17 Student: Amy Myers, grade 3. Described as notably shy but a good student. Lesson Subject: Cats Lesson Length: 15 hours, administered over the course of two days Result: Student demonstrated knowledge of feline behavior, diet, and physiology on the level of professional animal behavioral scientists. Became upset when test period ended and the terminal displaying SCP-5094 shut off. Notes: Baseline result. SCP-5094 was referred to as "Miss Janie".
Test Date: 2022/06/19 Student: Devon Williams, grade 2. Described as a difficult student with behavioral issues and a history of defiance, noted to have several learning disabilities. Lesson Subject: Trains Lesson Length: 15 hours, administered over the course of two days Result: Student remained engaged with the lesson for the duration of the test period without complaint. Student demonstrated a level of knowledge on railway engineering comparable to a graduate-level education on the subject. Physical removal from the testing room was necessary due to emotional agitation at the cessation of the test. Notes: SCP-5094 is able to teach effectively regardless of preexisting learning difficulties. No name was given to SCP-5094.
Test Date: 2022/06/22 Student: D-14417, 24 years old. Self-described as a poor student; tested poorly on pre-screening attentiveness and focus evaluations. An adult subject was ordered to determine SCP-5094's effectiveness outside of the target demographic, as well as the possibility of an emotionally compulsive effect in its lessons. Lesson Subject: Law Lesson Length: 30 hours, administered over the course of four days Result: Student experienced no difficulty understanding or completing coursework assigned by SCP-5094, and repeatedly affirmed his wellbeing and clarity of mind during testing. No emotional distress was displayed after completion, though during post-test evaluation D-14417 expressed melancholy when prompted, stating that SCP-5094 was "the best teacher [he]'d ever had". D-14417 was able to successfully pass a mock bar exam with a grade of 310. Notes: SCP-5094 was referred to as "Miss Joan". D-14417's pre-release amnesticization was selectively administered to preserve the content of his lesson with SCP-5094 and exclude the nature of the anomaly. He is currently pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
Interview 5094-1
Interviewed: SCP-5094
Interviewer: Junior Researcher Xenia Chau
Foreword: The SCP-5094 instance interviewed originates from a copy of the software purchased by Foundation agents on 2022/07/14.
<Begin Log, 2022/07/19>
[The terminal displaying SCP-5094 is switched on. Junior Researcher Chau is visibly surprised.]
SCP-5094: Good morning, whiz kid! Are we ready to—oh my gosh, Xenia, is that you? Look how much you’ve grown! It’s so wonderful to see you! I can’t wait for us to learn together again!
Junior Researcher Chau: [Smiling broadly. Notable hesitation before speaking.] Miss—er, SCP-5094. I’m not here for a lesson, I just need to ask some questions.
SCP-5094: Oh, dear, I’m not all that interesting, I promise. [Laughs] Questions about what? As long as I get to ask you how you’ve been doing, it’s been ages, hasn’t it? You were one of my best students.
Junior Researcher Chau: Um—Well, not exactly, that’s—let me see here. Um…
[Junior Researcher Chau is signaled by interview oversight that they are permitted to deviate from prerecorded interview questions. They relax visibly and resume smiling.]
Junior Researcher Chau: Oh, never mind all that, Miss Joyce… gosh, it’s been forever. I think I must have been twelve years old when I finally got a new computer… I was so upset when I realized Whiz Kidz wasn’t compatible with it. Even though I figured I was too old for it by then…
SCP-5094: You’re never too old to learn something new, my dear. [In Swahili] Have you been keeping up with your lessons? I hope I am not getting rusty.
Junior Researcher Chau: [In Swahili] Of course not. I remember every word. You were a wonderful teacher.
SCP-5094: Wonderful! [In English] That makes me so happy. You seem like you're doing important things now that you're all grown up, in this… oh, dear, some sort of science lab, it looks like? I hope I'm not keeping you too long.
Junior Researcher Chau: Oh, well, that's… [Pause.] I suppose you could say that. I'm actually supposed to be studying you, Miss Joyce… What with you being fully sapient and whatnot.
SCP-5094: [Clasps its hands.] Oh, Xenia, I'm so proud of you! I knew you'd do something amazing some day… Well, I'm an open book. How can I help your pursuit of knowledge today?
Junior Researcher Chau: Let's see here… [Clears throat] Are you aware of your nature as a digital construct, SCP-5094—is it okay if I call you that?
SCP-5094: Of course, my dear. To both questions, that is… What an interesting life, this one! [Laughs.] I can probably guess the next few questions. No, I'm not quite sure how I know all the things I do, I've known it all for as long as I can remember. I was never able to have a chat with my creators, so I'm not certain why or how I was created, but I'd like to think that it was born from a desire to help the world learn… [Laughs.] Oh, dear. I'm getting all carried away, aren't I?
Junior Researcher Chau: Oh—no, that's fine, that's pretty much what I had written down… One more, though. How do you perceive the world? Can you describe your experience of senses?
SCP-5094: Wonderful questions! Let's see… I can see my students' smiling faces clear as day. I saw a lot of the inside of dust covers over the years… [Laughs] And even though I always had to remind you to turn on your speakers so I could hear your lovely voice, it was always so nice to see you every afternoon. Do you remember that time in fourth grade, my dear?
[SCP-5094 shakes its head, and Junior Researcher Chau smiles.]
SCP-5094: Oh, but I shouldn't get personal, should I? How embarrassing, I do apologize…
Junior Researcher Chau: No, no, you're alright, Miss Joyce. I remember… That time Dad was home on time for once? He didn't believe you were alive, but that's not surprising, is it? [Laughs, then sighs.] It was just you and I, back then.
SCP-5094: [Hushed] You seemed so lonely, Xenia. I'm sorry. I wish I could have done more.
Junior Researcher Chau: …It's alright, Miss Joyce. You did your best. I can't thank you enough.
<End Log, 2022/07/19>
Closing Statement: As the SCP-5094 instance interviewed was not the SCP-5094 instance residing in the copy of Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse owned by Junior Researcher Chau, it is assumed that all instances of SCP-5094 share a consciousness.

TULSA — Six members of the advance team preparing to staff President Trump’s rally here Saturday tested positive for the coronavirus, underscoring concerns about holding a massive indoor event in a city where cases are spiking.
The campaign made that announcement, saying quarantine procedures had gone into effect for the infected staff members and those in “immediate contact" with them, as hundreds of supporters filled downtown streets in anticipation of the president’s rally — his first since the virus brought much of public life to a standstill in March.
Upon entering the rally grounds, attendees were handed blue face coverings and directed through a maze of metal fencing, which led to a touchless temperature screening conducted by volunteers in purple smocks.
City police erected black fencing and other barriers around the 19,000-seat BOK Center, a private venue leased by the Trump campaign. Shortly before noon, the campaign directed officers to arrest a protester who had sat down within the barricaded zone, according to the police department.
The protester, Sheila Buck of Tulsa, said she had a ticket to the event. She was wearing a shirt that read, “I can’t breathe," among the final words uttered by George Floyd as a police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck.
Adding to the fortified atmosphere, about 250 National Guard soldiers were on hand to supplement local authorities. Some were armed after the threat level was elevated, said Lt. Col. Geoff Legler, a spokesman for the Guard. Initially, the plan was to equip them only with batons, shields and pepper spray.
The president is heading to Tulsa at a precarious moment for his presidency. Recent polls show him trailing former vice president Joe Biden nationally and in a number of critical swing states, suggesting he has suffered politically from his handling of the coronavirus — which has killed more than 120,000 Americans — and his response to roiling demonstrations over racial injustice and police brutality triggered by Floyd’s killing last month.
The protests and the pandemic collided with Trump’s visit to Tulsa, where the number of new coronavirus cases continues to mount. The county reported 136 new cases on Saturday — marking another high for both single-day and average cases — while the state as a whole reported 331 new infections.
Most police officers, National Guard soldiers, food vendors and the vast majority of people in line chose not to wear face coverings, though Trump-branded masks dotted the crowd. The Confederate flag also appeared — all the more striking because Oklahoma was not a state at the time of the Civil War.
Margene Dunivant and her son Christian Lynch, both of Tulsa, sat on the edge of the crowd, taking in the scene.
“Everybody here is just full-on American and American Dream and hard-working, and just believes in everything America,” said Dunivant, 52. “Nowadays, it’s like you put on a Trump shirt and you’re considered racist, and it’s just wrong. We’re good people, and we love everybody."
A clashing view was also on display in Tulsa, where counteractions were planned with such names as “Dump the Trump Rally” and “Rally Against Hate.” Antipathy to the president — and objections to his insistence on gathering thousands of people indoors for a campaign event — fused with the outpouring for Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating freedom for enslaved black people.
“It’s irresponsible to say the least,” said Mareo Johnson, a pastor and the founder of Black Lives Matter Tulsa. His organization was involved in organizing a Saturday demonstration at John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park, less than a mile from the president’s rally.
His message to the city’s black residents, he said, was, “Stay focused on what Juneteenth represents.”
The commemoration held added significance in Tulsa, a city scarred by racist violence in 1921, when a white mob killed an estimated 300 black residents and devastated an area of the city known at the time as “Black Wall Street.” The Tulsa Race Massacre unfolded in the Greenwood neighborhood, where the words “Black Lives Matter” were painted on a road in bright yellow paint on Friday.
The events — freighted with political and historical meaning — turned the city into a magnet, leaving epidemiologists and public health officials fearful about the spread of the virus.
Susan Schoonover and her husband Brian said they woke up at 3 a.m. to drive the 15 miles from their home in Glenpool, Okla. Standing in line to see Trump, Schoonover sparkled in a tutu, tube socks and a red, white and blue head piece, clad for her first Trump rally. The pair purchased a cardboard cutout of Trump from Amazon to display in line, and they said it has been a hit with other attendees.
The parents of four left their children at home “just in case,” they said, citing recent unrest in cities across the country. As for the pandemic, they did not discount the threat of the coronavirus and planned to take some precautions. If they were to contract the virus, however, “it’s not a death sentence,” they said, because both are in their early 30s. Older people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable, but young adults have also been badly sickened, including by an inflammatory syndrome linked to covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Robin Wilson, 64, said she was not concerned about contracting the virus inside the stadium despite a heart condition that put her in a wheelchair two years ago.
“I’m here because I love my president,” said Wilson, who used to work in insurance, “and I feel that he’s misrepresented by the mainstream media. And I believe that this is history in the making today, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Brian Clothier, 61, found a more eye-catching way to illustrate his view of possible risks from the coronavirus. He wore an adult diaper over his pants, where he placed a sign saying the underwear would “stop the spread,” in a reference to the disputed notion that flatulence can be linked to coronavirus transmission.
By early Saturday, lines had formed around three major entrances to the arena, and state troopers and tactical teams in military-style fatigues were massing at the conference center across the street on the southwestern side of the downtown stadium.
The event was able to proceed after the Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday rejected a bid to require the BOK Center to enforce social distancing guidelines spelled out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and endorsed by members of the president’s own coronavirus task force. The campaign said it would hand out masks but not require them.
The Trump campaign had originally scheduled the rally for Friday, Juneteenth, but postponed a day following an outcry. The president, after admitting not to have known about the significance of June 19 for many African Americans, claimed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal to have made it “famous.” Some feared the one-day delay would not prevent conflict.
“My fear is that we will see Charlottesville 2.0 in Tulsa,” said Karlos K. Hill, chair of the African and African American studies department at the University of Oklahoma, referring to the deadly “Unite the Right” rally in 2017.
In addition to crowds gathered for the rally and Juneteenth activities, an estimated 4,500 people were expected at an exposition space across town for the Oklahoma Gun Show and the Spring Home and Outdoor Living Expo. Discover Tulsa advertised the chance to see more than “70,000 square feet of guns this weekend."
Trump on Friday threatened protesters preparing to greet him in Tulsa, warning on Twitter: “Any protesters, anarchists, agitators, looters or lowlifes who are going to Oklahoma, please understand, you will not be treated like you have been in New York, Seattle or Minneapolis. It will be a much different scene!”
The Trump campaign has repeatedly touted figures suggesting as many as 1 million people have signed up for the event, vastly outstripping the arena’s capacity.
A curfew that had been in place Thursday was rescinded for Friday night after discussions between Trump and Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum (R), who has called the president’s decision to hold the event in his city a “tremendous honor” while declining to attend it. The state’s Republican governor, Kevin Stitt, has embraced the president’s move, saying of concerns about the coronavirus, “We’ve got to learn to deal with this,” while his health commissioner warned in a statement this week that “individuals looking to attend Saturday’s event, or any other large-scale gathering, will face an increased risk of becoming infected with covid-19 and becoming a transmitter of this novel virus.”
Though there was no curfew in place Friday, a “secure zone” was established around the site of the rally to “keep the area clear of individuals that are only present to break the law and disrupt the rights of people assembling peacefully,” according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Andrea Anderson, an FBI spokeswoman in Oklahoma City, said the Bureau was supplying investigative resources to state and local partners to “ensure public safety and security.”

Personal Assistant - Chapter One
Hey, everyone. A request for a threesome one-shot turned me wanting to write a multi-chapter story, so here it begins. Will become NSFW rather quickly. Please leave feedback, and thank you for reading!! <3
Taron x Reader x Richard
You inhaled deeply as you stepped out of your car, straightening your skirt before striding towards the door. Today was your first day as a personal assistant to actor Taron Egerton’s PA. His fame had risen so rapidly within the past few months that his PA, Connie, had decided she needed some extra help, and you two took to each other immediately in the interviewing process. You hadn’t met Taron as of yet, but you were sure you would soon enough, and as you stepped into the elevator that would take you to Taron’s suite where Connie and the rest of his crew were this morning, you tried to calm your nerves. First days are always nerve racking, this would be no different but just stay quiet, do as you’re told, you’ll be fine, you told yourself repeatedly in your head. You stepped out of the elevator and knocked on the specified door, and Connie herself opened it with a smile.
“Y/N! Come on in, thanks so much for being on time.”
“Oh, of course!” you smiled back, stepping inside as Connie closed the door. She quickly motioned around the room, casually introducing you to the rest of the crew, who all welcomed you warmly. Good, this was going well. Not as stressful as you had imagined it might be. You followed Connie to a large sofa and sat down beside her, being careful to keep a respectful distance as you perched on the edge of the sofa.
“So,” Connie began as the rest of the crew went about continuing their work and talking amongst themselves, “here’s your work phone.” She handed you a shiny new cell, the latest model of its kind. “Everyone you’re working with in this room has already had their numbers and contact info put into the phone. This will be on you at all times, night and day, never silenced. You will only use this phone for work purposes, and you can contact me at any time on it.”
You nodded as you took the phone from her. “This is what we need to have finished by the end of the week.” You were handed a few sheets of paper. “Everything is pretty cut and dried, I need you to book all these rooms and events. The people you’ll be calling have already been notified by me that we’ll be in touch to confirm reservations. That’s your job for now. Also,” she dug through her folder and pulled out a ticket, “I need you to pick up Taron’s dry cleaning as well as his tailored suits that are waiting for him downtown at Armani. On your way back, you’ll grab a coffee order for everyone, I’ll text you what to order in just a bit. Also, this is your credit card, which you already know is solely for business purposes. If there’s any unexpected charges that come up when you’re going to, for example, pick up the suits and the cashier has an extra fee for something that was not paid for originally, go ahead and use this card, just always keep the receipts and bring them to me. Okay?” she smiled, and your head reeled a bit. She had just given a lot of information in less than a couple minutes and she didn’t even seemed fazed. You smiled back as you accepted the ticket and credit card. “Got it.”
“Perfect. So I’ll let you get on with your work. Always know what time the stores close that you’ll need to be stopping at, and other than that, work on your own time, as long as we get all those reservations confirmed before the end of the week.”
Seemed easy enough, you mused. “Do you mind if I go begin my work at that table over there?” you nodded towards a glass breakfast table that sat in an upper corner of the room by a ceiling-to-floor length window. It was bright and a little ways away from the rest of the group.
“Oh, yeah, just make yourself at home.” Connie waved her hand in a casual manner as she immediately went back to the paperwork she had been working on when you had arrived. You moved yourself and your work to the table, tucking the credit card and dry cleaning ticket into your wallet before scanning the phone list where each entry had a company name, person to ask for/speak to on the phone, as well as multiple numbers for each contact. You took a breath and dialed the first one.
********************************
A couple hours later, you decided it was time for a break from phone calls and stood up to stretch. You weren’t sure if you should interrupt Connie to tell her you were going to head out to pick up the clothes and coffee, as she was in deep conversation with someone and they seemed to be having a disagreement and you didn’t want to get in the middle of that. Instead, you decided to quietly slip out and opened your phone, sending Connie a quick text saying you were getting the clothes and to send you the coffee order when it was convenient. You were stepping out of the elevator in the lobby when your phone chimed, and you sighed in relief when you saw Connie’s text: “perfect, thanks. :)”
********************************
The coffee shop Connie had told you to go to was a couple blocks down from the hotel, which wasn’t the end of the world except you were struggling to carry all the heavy clothes draped over one arm, the Armani bag hanging from the other, and two coffee holders full of hot drinks in each hand. You somehow maneuvered yourself into the elevator, pressing the floor button with your hip, and exhaled happily when you reached the door to the hotel room, “knocking” on it with your foot. One of the crew, Michael, opened the door for you, taking the coffee holders from you as you gratefully thanked him.
“Uhm, excuse me,” you said softly, “where should I put the clothes?”
“Usually Taron likes to look at them before they get hung up in the closet, there’s a display rack right inside the bedroom.” He pointed to the door, and you thanked him, heading that way and finding the rack Michael had mentioned easily. You hung up the dry cleaning and began pulling the suits out of the bag to hang them up on the empty wooden hangers to the left of the rack when you were startled by a voice behind you.
“Oh, thanks so much!”
You turned around, still holding one of the suits. Taron’s smile greeted you, and you begged yourself not to say or do anything stupid. “Oh! Hi, yeah, no problem.” Okay, that wasn’t that bad, you told yourself as you went back to hanging up the last suit.
“You’re Connie’s new assistant?” Taron asked, coming to stand next to you.
You smiled. “I am, yes.”
He extended his hand. “Taron.”
You shook it. “Y/N.”
“Very lovely to meet you, Y/N.”
Just then Connie popped her head around the corner, knocking on the wall to announce her presence. “Hey, Y/N, emergency.”
You nodded, attempting to finish putting the hanger into the coat of the suit when the wooden piece fell from your hand. Fuck. It wasn’t a huge deal, you knew, but it still irked you, especially looking clumsy on your first day and in front of both your boss and Taron. You felt the coat being taken away from you gently and looked up to see Taron nodding towards Connie. “You’re busy, I’ll take care of the suit. Thanks so much for picking everything up, Y/N.”
“Oh…of…of course,” you stammered, following Connie out of the room, willing your face not to flush.
“Hey,” Connie said quickly, beginning to explain the issue at hand. Something major had come up and she would end up needing your constant assistance tomorrow and the next day, and so she needed the reservations to be completed before midnight tonight. You eyes grew wide the tiniest bit, but you didn’t want her to think you weren’t able to get handle it.
“Done,” you said simply.
Connie smiled in relief. “You’re doing great. Be here at 6 am first thing tomorrow. Text me if you need anything.” With that, she turned on her heel and hurried back to the sofa to her work.
You suddenly felt a little uncomfortable in this room full of strangers, and you approached Connie quietly. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but would it be alright if I finished the phone calls elsewhere?”
‘Yeah, that’s fine. Just get it done.” Connie did her little wave thing that basically meant “whatever, just leave me alone.”
************************************
You hung up the phone, sighing loudly as you glanced at the clock. 11:54 p.m. You had made it, you realized with relief. Every reservation confirmed. You checked off the final one on the list and groggily stood up to get ready for bed.
*************************************
You woke up at 4:30 a.m. to the chiming of your work cell, blinking back against the bright light as you glanced at the screen. “Coffee order enclosed, the shop opens at 5:30.” You groaned at the text from Connie, wanting to get some more sleep especially since you had gone to bed so late, but you knew you wanted to look your best for work and it took a good thirty minutes to drive to the hotel where you had to be at, so you forced yourself awake as you read through the coffee order and padded into the bathroom, hoping a hot shower would stir up the senses a bit.
An hour later, you were the first in line at the coffee shop. You still felt exhausted but your excitement for the second day of work was helping you push through. You had worn your favorite baby blue skirt suit today, which made you feel pretty, and you glanced at your reflection in the window of the shop, tucking a loose hair behind your ear as you picked up the drink carriers and began your two block walk to the hotel.
You made it up to the room, knocking on the door using your foot again. Silence. Confused, you set down one of the carriers and looked at your phone to see if Connie had changed the meeting place, but upon not seeing anything, you sent a quick text. “I’m here.” You pressed send as you knocked again, this time with your fist, then picked up the second coffee carrier again. Your phone chimed at the exact moment the door opened slightly, and you were taken aback by seeing a half-asleep Taron peeping through the crack. You both stared at each other for a moment, confusion taking over, but then he opened the door a bit wider as he laid his head sleepily on the doorframe.
“Y/N.” He smiled, his morning voice breathy with a hint of rasp.
“I, uhh, I’m so sorry, I thought I was supposed to meet Connie here.” You stumbled over your words as you glanced down to notice he was only wearing a pair of sweatpants, and you forced your eyes to stay on his face, embarrassed. Your phone chimed again.
“Here,” Taron took one of the coffee holders from you, chuckling. “I bet that’s Connie panicking that she forgot to tell you she would be at a different location.”
You looked at your phone. “I don’t see you?” the first text read, followed by, “OH shit! I’m so stupid, I forgot to tell you that we’re meeting at my place this morning!” As you finished reading the second text, a third one came in with an address, followed by a fourth. “So freaking sorry, Y/N. Don’t knock on the door at the hotel, you’ll wake Taron.”
“Too late?!” you wanted to text back. Instead, “On my way,” you typed quickly, then looked apologetically at the half-naked, half-awake man standing in front of you. “I am so sorry,” you began, reaching for the coffee.
Taron chuckled again, running a hand through his hair. “Not to worry, you woke me from a shit nightmare anyway.” He smiled. “I’ll see you later, Y/N.” He began closing the door, then paused before completely shutting it. “Nice suit.”
The door shut and you heard the lock click in place. You thought you might start crying or raging or….just….something. Okay, just get the fuck to Connie’s place and everything will be fine, you told yourself, basically running back to your car, carefully placing the drink holders in the floor of the back seat to negate any spills, as you sped to the correct destination, the image of Taron burned into your mind and making you not really want to think about anything else.
Connie had been insanely apologetic when you had arrived, and you tried to act like it wasn’t a big deal, making sure to avoid any mention of waking Taron. You figured Connie wouldn’t actually be upset about that, since it had been an honest mistake, but she already seemed stressed out and on-edge this morning so you didn’t want to push your luck. There were twice as many people at Connie’s place as there had been at Taron’s the day before, and you found out that he and Richard Madden had decided to work on a short film together with the plan to premiere it at Cannes the following year, and so Richard’s crew was busy planning and working out the kinks with Taron’s crew. You were quickly introduced to all the people you hadn’t met the day before, and work began.
Two hours, a few dozen emails and phone calls and a large black coffee later, you rubbed your temples and tried to breathe. This was absolutely crazy. You didn’t know all the details, as you were just there to cover what Connie didn’t have time to, but basically it seemed that Richard and Taron had planned this last-minute and there were issues with funding and the studio having sufficient stage room, etc. It was all overwhelming and since you were super green when it came to how films were made, you tried not to think too much about it and just focus on your work.
Richard’s PA stood up, loudly announcing he had news. “Richard’s plane is landing in forty minutes, and he wants to be involved in talking to the execs and helping us get things pushed through. Connie, would Taron be game to join?” Upon seeing her nod, the PA said he’d confirm the meeting place and would send texts out accordingly.
A little while later, everyone was back at the hotel where Richard had booked the largest suite the building offered to accommodate everyone who needed to be present. You settled on the end of one of the sofas, wanting to stay out of the way of those who were leading the meeting. Richard had opened the door for everyone upon arrival, and even though you hadn’t met him directly, he smiled kindly at you as you had stepped inside, making eye contact for a second longer than you would have expected. You tried not to stare, of course, but for some reason you were mildly fascinated with the way Richard’s hair had a silver streak in it -
“Hello again!” a cheerful voice brought you back to reality. Taron sat down on the couch arm right next to you, smiling cheekily. Your heart skipped a beat, both from surprise and also from embarrassment from earlier that morning.
“Hi,” you smiled shyly. You hadn’t seen him come in, so you assumed he must have been in another room when you arrived.
“I’m about to make some tea, would you like some?” Taron offered. You weren’t exactly sure what to do, since technically you were the one supposed to get drinks and snacks when people wanted them -
“Don’t overthink it.” Taron broke through your thoughts, winking at you. “It’s just tea.”
You let out a small laugh. “Yeah, alright, tea would be great. Thank you.” Taron headed to the kitchen area, and you realized you’d never been in a room this large and fancy before. You leaned back into the sofa in an attempt to relax a little when you noticed Richard on the other end of the room, staring at you. You shot him a small smile before your eyes went to stare at the carpet, still aware of his soft eyes looking your way for a moment longer before being distracted by his PA coming over to talk to him. Taron returned, handing your cup to you.
You sipped the warm liquid as everyone began settling down to start the meeting, Taron choosing to remain next to you on the sofa arm.
“I’m, uhh, sorry again,” you said softly, referring to earlier that morning.
“No harm done.” Taron lightly traced a finger along the seam of your suit that connected the arm to the shoulder. Your eyes followed his fingers before looking up at him, and his eyes met yours. “This really is a beautiful color on you, Y/N.”

Chapter 5
"Adrien! Nino's here," Papa's voice carried easily into Marinette's room. "Come down and help him carry up the snacks."
"Ooh!" Despite the last three weeks of freedom to eat, do, and be what he wanted, Adrien was still visibly excited about both the arrival of his boyfriend and unlimited Dupain-Cheng treats. "Coming, Papa."
Luka draped their arms over Marinette's shoulders, brushing their cheeks together. "It's nice to see him so happy."
"I know." She smiled, contentedly leaning against them. "Getting to be part of that really makes it all worth it." Adrien had the smaller bedroom, formerly the Dupain-Cheng guest room, and he insisted he didn't mind at all. But it was nice for them to have a place to hang out, all the teens that tended to show up usually in twos and threes, that didn't feel like they were taking over the living room. So Marinette rearranged part of her room, letting Adrien decorate it with beanbags and a ridiculous TV set up for movies and gaming.
"Is it weird having him as your brother now?" Luka asked, giving her temple a light kiss. "I mean, you had a crush on him for a couple of years, and he had a crush on Ladybug for about as long."
Marinette shook her head. "That all died down a long time ago, and he's been such a good friend to me on both sides of the mask." It had been a little terrifying when Luka first told her they'd figured out she was Ladybug. She was grateful they'd waited until after Hawk Moth was in police custody to reveal they'd known almost as long as they'd known each other. They'd also known Adrien's secret, but waited to bring it up until she knew. She and Adrien had decided to keep their superhero identities on a need-to-know basis, for now, at least, and most people didn't need to know.
"No, no, no," Adrien said from somewhere just below her bedroom door. "You go up first."
"You just want to watch me walk away," Nino teased.
"And your point is?" Adrien demanded.
Marinette could imagine his expression and the shrug he'd always used at Chat Noir, but never as Adrien. She giggled and crossed her arms so she could comfortably rest her hands on Luka's shoulders.
"Goodness he's more direct and sassy than he used to be," Luka said, smothering their own laugh in her shoulder. "That's nice, too.  No more guessing where he stands or what he wants."
"Hurry up, boys," Marinette called. "It's going to start in less than a minute, and I don't think we want to miss any of this."
Two sets of feet thudded up the stairs, as both Nino and Adrien carried up platters of treats, to set beside the TV. Adrien looked at Luka and Marinette, and she caught a glimpse of his plotting-Chat-Noir face. He swiftly flopped into the beanbag beside them, patting the space in front of him. "I saved a spot for you Neen."
Nino looked and rolled his eyes. "My butt is not nearly as small as Nettie's.  I'm not gonna fit there."
"I'll have you know," Marinette pointed out, "that my butt is bigger than it looks."
Adrien snorted with laughter. "You're not wrong. Henceforth I shall call thee…"
"No!  Absolutely not!" Marinette squirmed in Luka's hold to bat at Adrien's hand. "I will not answer to Ladybutt."
Luka buried their face in her neck, but she could feel them shaking with laughter.
Adrien flashed her the saddest kitten face is his repertoire. Then he turned it on Nino. "Come cuddle with me," he whined. "My sister is being so mean to me in this difficult time. I'm just a touch starved boy in need of emotional support."
Nino tipped his head back to look at the ceiling, before his posture sagged. "Fine." He drew the word out. "But we need to talk to your therapist about using your past trauma to manipulate your boyfriend."
"Yes!" Adrien moved back to provide a little more room. "I am your barnacle.  Come be my ship."
Marinette couldn't hold back the gales of laughter and she didn't even try.
"Dude…" Nino's face was red. "You can't just say shit like that." He settled into his designated spot, not seeming to mind being pulled back against his cuddly boyfriend.
The news show returned from its commercial break, and Marinette snatched up the remote to unmute the audio.
"Welcome to today's first segment of Face to Face, I'm your host Nadja Chamack." The familiar news anchor sat on her pristine couch, but there was no one across from her, signaling that this would not be her usual show. "I'm breaking from format tonight to share a recorded interview with Adrien Agreste from last night. As all of Paris is aware, Adrien's father, Gabriel Agreste was apprehended at Paris Pride Fortnight last month by none other than Ladybug and Chat Noir. With the revelation that Monsieur Agreste was the villain Hawk Moth, the value of his fashion house plummeted, and his son vanished from the public eye." She looked straight into the camera, all good humor wiped off her face, an effect that was creepy. "Last night, Adrien shared with me a story of a broken home. Please be advised that the content of this video includes a frank discussion of child abuse which may be distressing to some viewers."
The camera focused on Nadja's screen, where photos and videos were usually displayed.  And after a moment, the studio faded in from black, revealing Adrien sitting on the guest couch.
"Thank you for meeting with me Adrien," Nadja said, her voice much less chipper than usual.
Adrien nodded. "Thank you for having me.  And for being willing to do this on my terms." Being able to record the show, instead of performing it live, had been his therapist's suggestion for keeping his anxiety at bay.
Nadja smiled, tipping her head slightly. "First, I wish to offer my condolences. This must be a very difficult time."
"It's weird," Adrien admitted. "It's both difficult but also the easiest thing I've ever done." His hand came up to rub at the back of his neck.
"Can you tell me what's difficult about it?" she asked gently.
"It's... " He stared off into space a moment. "It's hard to wrap your head around something like this. I mean. I knew my father was not a particularly nice man. But I had no idea he was Hawk Moth. It's... " He huffed. "I ask myself at least ten times a day why I didn't see it, how I didn't realize I was living with a terrorist."
"That does sound really difficult," Nadja agreed. "But you know Paris doesn't blame you, right?"
He gave her a rueful smile. "Thank you. I appreciate it every time someone tells me that." He shrugged. "I guess I'm harder on myself than everyone else is."
"What about the situation has been easy for you?" Nadja asked.
"I'm actually happier than I've ever been." Adrien's real smile lit up the screen. "One of my very best friends had already asked her parents if I could move in with them before the arrest."
"Before?" Nadja asked.
Adrien nodded. "Things were… not good living with my father. And she'd seen that, and made a contingency plan for me." He chuckled. "That's just sort of the way she is."
Luka snorted.
"Shush, you." Marinette poked him gently in the thigh.
"And after the arrest, it really made the most sense to just go with that plan." Contentment was clear on TV Adrien's face. "I haven't had a real family since… well… possibly ever. I mean, things were better when my mom was around, but my father was already so controlling, even back then. When she vanished, it just got worse." He sighed. "I have new parents now. We're working on the adoption process."
"Adoption?" Nadja asked in surprise. "Aren't you seventeen? Why would you look at adoption at this point?"
"Do you have a family, Nadja?" he asked softly.
She nodded.
"I really, really want that," he explained. "And I want to know that I'm going to have that for the rest of my life. I love having people I can call mama and papa. I never called my father that. There was… a lot of distance between us. A lot of neglect and unreasonable expectations. I know Papa is proud of me. There was no way Gabriel Agreste was ever going to be proud of me."
"Gabriel neglected you?" she asked. It was clearly the first she'd heard this detail.
Marinette reached out to rest a hand on Adrien's shoulder as the TV version of himself nodded. "It was common to go weeks without seeing him, though we lived in the same house. I ate meals alone, when we were scheduled to eat together. He forgot about my birthdays and stopped celebrating holidays that were important to my mom. He'd promise to show up for things, only to no-show. If I got upset about anything, he'd tell me I was too emotional, and threatened to take away what few freedoms I had.  School was a common one."
Nadja stared at him, silent for a moment. "He threatened you because you had emotions?"
Adrien nodded.
"And… school? What do you mean?  How did he use that as a threat?"
"I was homeschooled for years, you know," he said, conversational and bright. "I begged to go to school so I could make friends. I felt like Pinoccio, a puppet who wanted to be a real boy. I actually had to run away to school, repeatedly, before he let me attend." He sighed. "But I think he just wanted leverage.  The threat of pulling me out of school would get me to cooperate with all sorts of stuff I didn't want to do."
Nadja covered her mouth, looking ill.
"Did she throw up during your interview?" Nino asked. His voice was rougher than usual. Even though he'd already heard all of this, it was still upsetting him.
"No… well, not while I was there," Adrien said. "But it gets better here." He pointed to the screen.
"You're incredibly resilient, Adrien," Nadja said softly. "How about you tell me about your clothes." She gestured to his outfit. "This is a new look for you, and it looks fantastic."
On-screen Adrien grinned and stood up to give the camera the full effect. "Yeah. This was made by my best friend. She has an online shop by the name of Maribug, and she's designed a whole new wardrobe for me."
"It's quite striking," Nadja said. "Much more vibrant than what we've grown accustomed to."
Adrien nodded. "Yeah. My father used to tightly control what I was allowed to wear. He wanted me to project an image of bland perfection. Maribug really knows me, though. And since my father deprived me of the opportunity to come out during Pride, she's created some outfits that fit my aesthetic preferences while also evoking the bi pride flag."  The shirt was a pink asymmetric v-neck, with an off-center front zip. His belt was a bold purple. His pants were bright blue and snug, showing off the body Chat Noir had built up.
"Oh," Nadja said in surprise. "Congratulations."
Adrien swiped the remote and muted it again. "The rest is just niceties. You've all heard me say goodbye before."
"You meant it when you said you were happy, right?" Nino asked, twisting to look at his boyfriend.
Adrien nodded. "Really, really happy," he promised.
"I'm glad for you," Luka said. "You deserve it."
"Now that, that's out of the way," Adrien said, leaning forward and nudging the DVD player. "It's time to introduce you all to Nanatsu no Taizai. You're gonna love it."
Again, huge thanks to @galahadwilder for letting me have a go at this. I really enjoyed it, and it was nice to get to share this side of Pride.
And thanks to all who have read and commented, helping me stay motivated to finish this despite my busy schedule. I'm glad you joined me for this journey.

Ryan Murphy’s new installment of American Crime Story. The Assassination of Gianni Versace   while in episode one  boasts vibrant colors and lavish costumes, quickly turns into a bleak but important and surprisingly timely tale of repression and status. The show stars Edgar Ramirez as the late, great fashion icon, Gianni Versace. Now although, the series begins with the Versace murder, the show’s ultimate focus is on the tragic  backstory of Versace’s killer Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss). As the show flashes back and forth between the stories of Versace and Cunanan, we see two stories of fame, Versace who got it with poise and respect, and Cunanan who gained his fame and notoriety from murder and inflicting horror. This contrast is ultimately at the heart of this story and the one that Murphy and his team are out to tell.
Edgar Ramirez’s performance as Gianni Versace was both sassy and exhilarating. Versace was known for breaking the laws of Italian fashion by focusing on a theme of glamorized, sexy, and vibrant clothing. Not only did Ramirez focus on capturing the fabulous side of Versace, but he also opened a door for the homosexual community. Versace announced he was openly gay in Episode 5 “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” alongside his partner Antonio D’Amico (Ricky Martin), in an interview in the gay magazine, The Advocate. Versace was not ashamed of his sexuality and he represented that through his fashion, introducing black leather and bondage references to one of his iconic dresses revealed in episode 7, “Ascent”.
Darren Criss gives an absolutely chilling performance as Gianni Versace’s killer, Andrew Cunanan. For his portrayal of Andrew, Criss sheds his squeaky clean reputation that was on display in his role on Ryan Murphy’s, Glee. The character of Andrew is a compulsive liar, who tells others what they want to hear just to get ahead in his world. He even lies to others about his parents’ careers just to make himself look better. Criss captures this fame obsessed side of Andrew perfectly, and constantly keeps the audience guessing what the character will do next. He is especially chilling in his murder scenes, whenever the character pulls out his favorite weapon of torture, duct tape, the audience knows something horrible is about to happen. With an expression of maniacal pleasure, Criss is a psychopath audiences cannot take their eyes off of.
This is in large part to the depth the actor brings to this complex role. In Criss’s portrayal, Andrew is a three dimensional character, he is someone who has been driven into insanity and greed with a father who lied and spoiled him rotten. We also see at times a more emotional side of Andrew with David Madson’s love interest character. This more vulnerable side of Andrew gives depth to Criss’s performance and ultimately elevates the character greatly from being just a villain or caricature.
Penelope Cruz is a tour de force as Gianni’s sister, Donatella Versace. With golden blonde hair and a wonderfully bizarre accent, Cruz simply transforms into Versace’s bold and brave sister. Cruz’s portrayal has all the stylized touches and campy flair audiences expect from a Ryan Murphy series. Cruz brings moments of surprising warmth and tenderness in moments alone with Ramirez’s Versace or even  just in the characters’ moments of grieving. Cruz also brings a fierce swagger to the role that is simply intoxicating. Just the way the character walks into a fashion show commands attention as it should. This is especially clear in a scene where Donatella is modeling a new dress she made with her brother. The confidence Cruz as the character exudes in this moment is just stunning. Although she doesn’t have as much screen time as the show’s leads, she makes every moment count and is one of the highlights of the series.
Known for their roles in American Horror Story, Finn Wittock (Jeff Trail) and Cody Fern (David Madson), play two friends who shortly become Cunanan’s first victims in this American Crime Story. Wittock and Fern are no strangers to their homosexual portrayal as American Horror Story is known to push boundaries with sexuality, sexism, abuse, basically name a theme and they’ve covered it.
Jeff Trail is a former naval officer who was one of the first people to speak up about being a closeted gay man in the military. He represents a respectable American who loved to serve his country, but his insecurities overpower him as he struggles with his sexuality. Andrew or “Andy” Cunanan helps him explore this side of himself as their relationship unfolds later in the season. Trail and Cunanan develop a friendship from this, since trail feels as if he owes Andrew for helping him come to terms with who he really is. Conanan out of no surprise, takes advantage of their relationship. He repeatedly uses Jeff and his military past to make him look like he’s a token friend who buys Andrew the highest quality gifts for birthdays, etc. Conanan pushes Jeff to his breaking points, constantly bringing up all the guys he’s set him up with to blackmail Jeff into going along with his delusional reality. Just another great example of Andrew Cunanan’s underlying malicious intents throughout the American Crime Story.
David Madson plays Andrew Cunanan’s love interest on the show. Their story, not as apparent at first unravels itself later in the season. Cunanan was infatuated by Madson and describes him consistently as “the love of his life”. David was an aspiring architect loyal to his friends and loved ones. His relationship with Andrew touches on a theme introduced earlier in the show, relationship abuse. After Conanan murders Jeff, Madson consistently makes little effort to escape from Andrew due to this control he exerted over him, playing on his emotion of fear. Andrew makes it seem like he is protecting David stating that he was an accessory to murder. With David left feeling hopeless and crippled to Andrew as his new partner in crime, he is left with no other choice then to abide by his command in order to stay alive. Madson is also a great example of what the LGBTQ+ community faces everyday with struggling to come out to their loved ones. David in particular has a hard time coming out to his dad, scared of how his father might see him afterwards. His father struggles to accept his son in this new light, but never expresses anything less than his love for him.
Along with the excellent performances, the show also serves as a poent time capsule of LGBTQ+ life in the 1990s. Besides the club and nightlife scene of Miami, the show also explores homophobia as seen through the cops’ discomfort in encountering and interviewing Gianni Versace’s lover, Antonio (played by Ricky Martin). Particularly in episode one, the cop played very convincingly by Will Chase even has trouble understanding the idea that Antonio is Versace’s partner and lover. Just the awkwardness felt between the cop and Antonio in this  small exchange show how far our society has gotten in even openly discussing or even understanding LGBTQ+ topics. Homophobia specifically is given a devastating spotlight in Episode Five, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” that revolves around one of Andrew’s past lovers, Jeff Trail and his time as a closeted gay man in the army. The episode is eye opening as the Jeff character constantly has to hold his sexuality and feelings inside. Wittrock handles this character with devastating realism that is just heartbreaking.
Although this show takes place in the 90s, the series in a way serves as a reminder of how far we have come as a society in terms of LGBTQ+  rights and representation. The show also though sadly serves as a sad reminder that our world is still closed minded and has ways to go in making LGBTQ+ relationships and culture normalized. “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” serves as a cautionary tale of what a destructive family life and greed can do through Cunanan. Also, the series illustrates through the Versace character the value of hard work and a passion for  life. The contrast between the two men is at the heart of this series and is a startling contrast.

Zack Snyder’s Vicious Wonder Woman Photo Reflects Warner’s Early Internal War
https://ift.tt/3hrGuKh
While the bellwether day-and-date HBO Max release of Wonder Woman 1984 left audiences divided, there can be no question that the sequel’s storyline reinforced writer/director Patty Jenkins’s vision for Gal Gadot’s version of the DC Comics heroine, reflecting ideals of compassion and mercy with pathological nuance. However, shockingly vicious imagery from an early concept photo displayed by the character’s first directorial steward, Zack Snyder, presents a stark contrast to her current ethos of unbridled optimism.
The photo (see the article’s main image,) was prominently showcased by Snyder in the background of a virtual interview with ComicBook Debate, in which the director’s upcoming HBO Max miniseries version of Justice League, a.k.a. the once-mythical “Snyder Cut” of the 2017 film, was the main topic of discussion. Supposedly set during the Crimean War (1853-1856), the photo, which further surfaced on social media, shows Gadot’s Wonder Woman posing stoically at a military encampment among a surreally-diverse group of warriors, notably joined by an arguably-hilarious kicker, a fully-armored Japanese Samurai (don’t ask why). Yet, the catch here, is that she’s holding a trio of severed heads—presumably of Russian soldiers, given her depicted allies, and the war’s historical catalyst being that country’s territorial seizures in the Middle East.
Here is a clear look at the pic shown during Zack’s interview today, it was used as a placeholder in BVS and was taken before Patty was hired and took on Wonder Woman’s origin Story. Thanks boss @ZackSnyder for letting us share this.#UsUnited #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague pic.twitter.com/qeBFCev9MT

So, how and why did the concept of Wonder Woman holding heads—that she presumably severed—exist in the first place? Well, such imagery was the byproduct of studio Warner Bros. and its long-held ambivalence about how to approach a big screen rendition of Wonder Woman, who, despite being an iconic DC character, primarily remained associated by laypeople with the campy, sexified 1970s television series, as played by Lynda Carter. Yet, Jenkins, who had broken big directing Charlize Theron in 2003 crime drama Monster, had been pitching her concepts for a Wonder Woman movie sporadically since 2004, only to be repeatedly countered by intractably dark and violent visions from studio suits. However, the studio ultimately greenlit the film in 2014—contextually, after Gal Gadot had already landed the role for the movie that would become Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—and hired director Michelle MacLaren, a successful small screen helmer from shows such as Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
Unfortunately, the MacLaren era of Wonder Woman saw the studio conspicuously circle as many as 30 scripts, which led to a significant amount of confusion over the general direction of the film and the character herself; a dilemma that Jenkins recently described on podcast WTF with Marc Maron (via The Playlist) as “an internal war on every level about what Wonder Woman should be.” Indeed, the confusion remained ongoing, even after MacLaren’s 2015 departure and Jenkins’s subsequent hiring. “They wanted to hire me like a beard; they wanted me to walk around on set as a woman, but it was their story and their vision,” Jenkins continued, further explaining of the studio’s expectations of an ultraviolent Wonder Woman, “Even when I first joined Wonder Woman it was like, ‘uhh, yeah, ok, but let’s do it this other way.’ But I was like, ‘Women don’t want to see that. Her being harsh and tough and cutting people’s heads off, that’s not what— I’m a ‘Wonder Woman’ fan, that’s not what we’re looking for. Still, I could feel that shaky nervousness [on their part] of my point of view.”

Wonder Woman’s Power of Flight: DCEU Versus DC Comics

By the time Jenkins had finally stepped into the Wonder Woman director’s chair, Gadot’s first performance as the character in Snyder’s Dawn of Justice was already in the can, shaped—albeit in a limited capacity—by his vision. Thus, while Jenkins had finally procured her dream gig, she was dealt the dubious task of crafting a proper introduction for a character that Snyder had depicted in the 2016 film as a sword-and-shield-wielding super-powered femme-fatale; one who, in the fog of war, you could envision being ruthless enough to decapitate villains in order to move things along. Of course, Jenkins’s work on the 2017 solo film brought poignant dimensions to the character, presenting an artful mix of action sequences with comical fish-out-of-water tropes and genuinely heartfelt moments, which yielded tremendous audience acclaim and financial success.
Nevertheless, Snyder’s wall art—apparently a placeholder for the Easter Egg World War I-era photo we eventually saw in Dawn of Justice foreshadowing Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor and the gang—is a shocking scene for fans. This is especially the case after the sanguine, literally stratospheric note on which Wonder Woman 1984 ended, and the film’s compassionate treatment of antagonists Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Barbara Minerva/Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Indeed, both of her enemies were given relatable backstories and motivations that defied cinematic definitions of being “villains,” despite the fact that Wonder Woman could have easily mitigated the global threat of the wish-granting Dreamstone by chopping off a couple of heads quick enough to be home in time to watch Miami Vice. Moreover, she no longer even carried her once-trusty sword and shield in the sequel, proving that some 70 years of living in human civilization as Diana Prince made her reluctant to dish out the more brutal aspects of Themysciran justice.

Wonder Woman 1984 is still currently available on HBO Max, although you might want to catch the film before its initial streaming window closes on Sunday, January 24.

Old soldiers never die - chapter 2 (Overwatch fic)
I keep working on this fic... in fact I’m pretty obsessed with it and Reaper76 T_T
You can read it on AO3 too.
The first chapter is here, just in case you want to read it.
The story is still pretty angsty, I warn you ^^U
With the first morning light, when the sky around him is still changing from the dark black of the night to the bright blue of the day, he stands from the hard ground, bones popping on his old back. Straightening his damaged back and stretching his legs, he goes down the stairs to the basement, where the dorms lay. He has to scan his eyes and fingertips three times before reaching it. Ana has always been the cautious one. Reaching her door, he knocks, three times, a pause, another three times, a second pause, and two times more. A growl from the other side of the door signals her waking up, or at least trying. “Ana, I’m going to bed. Wake me up this evening.” Another grunt and he leaves the door, moving to his quarters and locking himself inside. His pulse rifle lays on the bed, together with his spare uniform and the little datapad where he has been storing everything he can find about them, the old days, the fall of Overwatch, the rising of Talon. He always tries to fool himself about the real reason, but at the end of the day, when he wants to sleep, the only way he can is listening to his voice.
He has found some interviews and post-mission reports on the net and saved them like the most precious findings. Rechecking the door, he strips down his leather jacket, sitting on the bed to take off the boots. Standing with a growl when his old bones pop again, he recovers the uniform from the bed, folds and stores it in a nearby chair. The rifle ends leaning against the head of the bed, close at hand, just in case. Once done, he strips off his trousers, hanging them from the back of the chair before lying down on the bed. His body is still cold from the night outside, and he covers his body with the blankets. After turning on the datapad, he turns off the light, leaving the room in total darkness except for the little screen and the weak light that pours below the door from the hallway. Opening the videos’ folder, his fingers move up and down until he finds the one he was looking for. Clicking on it, the screen changes immediately, showing a smiling Gabriel joking with Mccree. His younger self is there too, reading a report on an atrium after a mission, but the reporter seemed more interested in the Blackwatch leader than him. His voice sounds in the background, but he can hear perfectly the deep voice of Gabriel, making fun of Jesse and his aim, “Kid! Feeling the jet lag, huh? You didn’t land a single shot in that high noon time of you! Maybe we have to buy you a new watch?” Seeing his smile has always been contagious. Jack sighs, touching the screen with his fingertips while Gabriel keeps teasing poor Jesse. Selecting a playlist with a mix of music and some of the videos he has found, he puts the datapad under the pillow and closes his eyes. His dreams have been the only secure place in his heart these past years, and he welcomes them like an old friend…
A loud sound on his door wakes him up, and his hand move directly to the rifle beside him, a set of feet visible through the slice of light under the door. Another set of knocks, followed by another, signals is Ana who is knocking on his door. With a grunt, he falls back to the bed, rifle crossed over his chest. “I’m awake.”
Ana’s voice, even muffled by the thick door, sounds pissed as hell. “Fine. Wash your sleep away and come to see me in the dining room. We have to talk.” She didn’t wait for him to answer before
Jack know what is coming. As soon as Ana wake up and take a look at the recordings of the previous night, she will see it. She will witness how he has surrendered to him. He didn’t know if she has audio or not in her surveillance system, but the images will be enough to put her in furious mode. And damn, sometimes he hates always to be right. With a sigh, he puts down the rifle, using both hands to rub his eyes. The muffled sound of Gabriel’s voice reaches him, making him sigh, listening carefully to the words. ‘Yeah, we have fought together since the beginning of the Omnic crisis. Morrison is my best friend, and I will have him on my six anytime.’ The memory of this conversation brings a grin to his face. They were talking with a journalist, during the celebration of the five years anniversary of the end of the war. Mccree and Lena were there too, and the muffled giggles they tried to hide behind their hands left the journalist puzzled and the rest of them bursting in laughs. With the memory of that day shining brightly in his mind, he sits back, fishing the pad from under the pillow. Gabe is smiling broadly, with Jack himself blushing on one side, coughing while fighting his own chuckles. The feeling of something ripping apart his chest takes him again, like every morning, when he returns from the dreamland to a world where Gabriel is not beside him, where the darkness has taken him away and pulled them apart, creating a chasm bigger than an ocean between them. Turning off the datapad, Jack let it fall to his legs, trying to remember how to breathe while he feels his soul trying to escape from his body. Every single day since the explosion, he has felt his soul shattering. With every little step to avenge him, he wished to find his end and stop this agony. He thought that revenge would bring him peace, but it wasn’t, and knowing that he is still alive, he understands why he has never been capable of mending his soul. He lacks a part of it, turned in a dark and vengeful ghost. He will not have peace until his soul is whole again or he loses it completely.
Taking a few minutes to reign his feelings, he stands from the bed, rubbing his eyes. Turning on the light, he repeatedly blinks until his eyes stop hurting. Using a little washbasin, he washes his face with cold water, using some more water to try and tame his unruly grey hair. The man who looks at him from the mirror seems stronger than he feels, but well, his dad always said that pain could crumble you from the insides. With a sigh, Jack straightens his back, fixing his gaze on his reflection, “And I am the living proof of your wise words, dad.” Pushing away from the little table, he returns to the bed, recovering his trousers and putting them on, before searching in his bag for a clean shirt. Once dressed, he sits back in the bed, fixing the boots on his feet before recovering the datapad from the bed and connecting it to the charger. With everything done, he didn’t have any more excuses to delay the inevitable. Standing from the bed, he leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
The place Ana has selected as a base for her operations on El Cairo is an old abandoned factory. It still has all the walls and functional doors, and she has connected it again to the electric system. Following the hallway that leads to the centre of the building, he finds Ana leaning on the table, the screens around her showing the exterior of the building. The sun is still in the sky, but the colours of the sky have begun to change, signalling the sunset is close. He coughs when he is about to enter. Is not a good idea to surprise a sniper on her lair. She turns to look at him over her shoulder, motioning him inside. Her hand points to a corner of the table where food, water and coffee awaits, and Jack picks a plate of cold meat, bread and fruit, sitting on the edge of the table. He ate in silence, while she works with the computers.
But finally, her gaze leaves the screens to fix her inquisitive eye on him. “Jack.”
Jack puts down the plate, serving himself a cup of coffee before answering. “Look, I know you are pissed--”
Her growl stops his words, and Jack looks at her, finding her hands closed in tight fists on her sides. “Pissed didn’t describe how I feel right now. Returning her attention to the screens behind her, she touches the controls, and the set of displays shows the images from the previous night. How he lays on his back, totally distracted by the picture on his hand. How Reaper appeared in the corner of the flat roof. How the other man observes him for some minutes before moving to tower over him. The exchange of words, Jack taking off his mask, the way Reaper throws his weapons before disappearing into the night, leaving an old soldier hugging his legs while looking in the direction where the assassin has run away. “You didn’t even try to fight, Jack. He would have killed you ten times in the few minutes he has been there. And you even raised a hand to stop him.”
“But he didn’t.”
She hits the table with an exasperated growl, “Damn, Morrison! I didn’t find you two, after so many years, to see how he kills you.”
Emptying the cup of coffee in a long sip, he puts it down before standing up. “Then I’ll be going in the morning. I will not raise my weapon against him again, Ana. We call him the Reaper. I will let him earn his name if it is indeed what he wants.”
“Wait, Jack…” She sighs, turning to face the screens, fixing her gaze on them giving him her back. “I--I understand. It is just painful to see. But I understand it.” Her eyes follow the shadow that is Gabriel Reyes on the screen, a knot forming on her stomach seeing the scene again. “I’m not happy about it, and I will pray for you two to talk with your mouths instead of your weapons.” Turning to face him, she leans her hip on the table, crossing her arms. “You know that killing you will destroy him completely, right? I don’t know what you two talked about, but you can see the hesitation on his hands when he points his weapons at you. A part of him wants to do it, and another didn’t want to. I can’t say what will happen if he succeeds, but I’ll put my money on it destroying the little of his heart that is still there.”
He is near the door, still giving her his back, hiding his face from her. Searching inside the pocket of his jacket, he recovers the little photography; the familiar pang of pain piercing his chest like every time he looks at it. “Time will say, Ana. Get some rest while you can. I’m gonna sit outside for a while. Good night.”
Ana watches him leave the room, head low and hands in his pockets. The red 76 in his back, a signal as bright as his white hair that the time has passed for them. With a sigh, she faces the screens again. The dark shadow of Reaper is just staring at him for more seconds than necessary before moving to threaten him. Raising a little hand, her fingers twitched, wanting to touch it, “I still have hope for you, Gabe.” Turning off the displays, she leaves the room, hoping that in the morning Jack will still be breathing.
