~ Kirishima's day takes an unexpected turn after his friends point out something that is obvious to everyone in the world except for two people.

a/n: a little bit of friends to lovers to end the night! This has been in my folder for far too long.

Eijirou Kirishima is plenty thankful for his job as a pro hero. But on days like today, where there are no distress calls, and his agency overbooked the number of heroes who need to go out on patrol, he feels extremely bored…

The wheels on his chair go round and round as he spins in little circles around his desk. For once, he is all caught up on paperwork. He looks over at Denki and Mina, but the two friends are deep in concentration. As much as he wants to, he probably shouldn't bug them right now. 

With a sigh, he stops spinning and flops against the padded back of his chair in defeat. Just as he does he hears the light little chime of his cell phone. He lunges for this new distraction eagerly, and his shark-like teeth flash with an involuntary smile when he sees that his new message is from you.

His best friend.

You must be bored as well because you are flooding his inbox with dozens of funny little videos and memes that have him laughing out loud. Sometimes, he thinks that you know his sense of humor better than he does. When he gets to the end of your thread, he starts furiously scrolling, trying to find funny videos that will have you laughing till you cry as well.

“y/n texting you again?” Mina calls over from her desk. The Pink Haired Pro Hero has a knowing look on her face as she spins around in her office chair. 

“It is.” He smiles, pressing send on a video of a guy who teaches his pet monkey with a pyrotechnic quirk how to light a firework. “Is it that obvious?”

“Totally.” She laughs crumpling up a bright pink sticky note and tossing it into the waste bin in the corner. “You are always smiling like an idiot when you are texting them.”

“Excuse me,” he scoffs, pretending to be offended by this completely true statement. “I happen to smile all the time.”

“Not like that, you don’t,” Denki laughs, “You’ve got it bad.”

The Crimson-haired pro hero furrows his brow, “ got what bad?” he does not understand why his two friends are looking at him like he just told them the Earth was flat.

“ Obviously, everybody knows that you are in love with them.” Mina grins, giving him a punch on the arm.

“Except for y/n, of course.” Denki chuckles. He sniffs the air and looks around, confused for a moment. “Hey, do you smell that?”

“Smell what?” Kirishima answers by sniffing the air, not picking up on anything unusual. He furrows his brow and tries to figure out how a strange smell in the office is more important than the notion that he has feelings for you.

“That, my friend, is the smell of denial. You reek of it. You better tell y/n how you feel before someone else decides to steal their heart.” He tries to lean back in his chair but ends up tipping over. 

As the electric pro hits the floor, Kiri is too preoccupied to help him up.

This extremely weak self-justification is exactly what he needs to bring himself to knock. Just seconds later, he hears a loud crash and a series of jumbled movements just beyond the door. Before he can react, you swing it open and greet him with a genuine yet kinda frazzled smile. Your skin has a wonderful natural glow to it that is enhanced by your bright eyes. 

“Hey,” you breathe, opening the door wider for him to come inside. 

“Hi,” he says, walking over the threshold like he has done thousands of times before. “What was that thud I heard back there?” 

“Oh, that was just me,” you grin, shutting the door behind him. “Nothing serious, I promise.”

There is that smile again, why does his heart feel so strange. Did he have too much coffee today? It feels like it’s about to burst out of his chest. Although you tried to hide it, he can tell that this silence is awkward, and he has to bring himself back to reality. “I got snacks,” he offers, holding up the grocery bag as a peace offering to end this awkwardness.

“You’re wonderful,” you say, taking one of the bags. “I ordered us some takeout, fried chicken, okay?”

“You had me at meat,” he laughs, striding into your kitchen and setting the bags down on the counter. “So what happened today?”

“My Manager was on one again today. I swear, Kiri, A villain could crash through our window, and he would find some way to blame me for the damage.” You say with a groan, grabbing the ice cream he got you and tossing it into your freezer. 

“Ouch. Do you want me to go down there? Show 'em who’s boss?” he says sarcastically, rolling up his sleeves and flexing his well-trained biceps. 

“Nah, just having you here is enough,” you say with a warm smile. Your eyes trained on Krishima’s face with a dreamy intensity that has him fighting a blush. You blink and take a flustered step backward. Your eyes flicker down to his phone and zero in on the thin red line where his battery percentage lies. 

“Dude…Charge your phone.” you tease, “ what if for some kind of world-ending emergency?”

He scuffs. “You know, I would’ve had a full battery. But someone kept sending me videos, and it completely drained my battery.”

“Oh, who would do such a thing?” You gasp sarcastically. “Come on, You can use my charger; it's in my room if you wanna plug it in.”

You turn and walk across the carpet, your bacon and egg-printed socks carrying you into your bedroom. As Kiri shuffles behind you at a polite distance, no

“Something’s different,” he mutters, looking around your space, trying to pinpoint what exactly has changed. 

“It’s my comforter,” you laugh, “I just got a new one.”

“Oh, looks nice,” he comments, setting his device on your bedside charger. 

“It’s amazing,” you gush, “I have never slept better in my life.” 

Have you always looked so adorable when you are excited about something?

“Oh really? I doubt it’s that comfy.” he challenges, raising a crimson brow. 

“I’m serious-” you are interrupted by a knocking sound coming from the front door. Your lips curl up into an eager smile. “Oh yay, food here. I’ll go grab it but you have to at least try my comforter for a second.

Eijirou holds his hands up in surrender, earning a big grin from you as you run down the hall to greet the delivery person. As he hits the surface of your bed, he expects to bounce slightly, but instead, he sinks into the pillowy foam. 

“Oh, this is soft,” he says aloud, readjusting his head against your pillow as he takes a deep breath in and relaxes deeper, feeling the stress of the day melt away. Closing his eyes, he smells something familiar. Its sweetness washes over him as if there is a weighted blanket covering him from head to toe.

He should move…

But he doesn't…

Held captive by the plush duvet under his ridiculously strong arms he stays breathing in that smell he just can’t seem to remember the name of. It dances teasingly just under his nose.

“Hey, are you really gonna fall asleep and leave me with all of this food?” You call from the doorway, freeing him from his trance. 

He jolts up immediately, an embarrassed tint on his cheeks as he looks over at you. “Shoot, sorry.” He says, walking out of your bedroom, trying to hide the flush on his cheeks with his loose hair.  “I guess that mattress pad or yours was a bit more comfortable than I thought.” 

“I told you it was comfy.” you laugh as he walks past you; he is shoulder to shoulder with you when that familiar smell breaks through his curtain of crimson hair.

His heart starts beating wildly in his chest as he realizes that the puzzling smell that has ensnared him is your shampoo. “The scent of denial,” he mutters to himself.

“What was that?” you ask, cocking your head to the side adorably. 

“N-nothing,” he says quickly, wondering how he is ever going to tell you how he feels.  “Just thinking about something someone said to me at work earlier.”

Yeah, the Knight of Dawn is only shown from Lilia's perspective which can fall into unreliable narrator territory, so who can really say what the guy was like other than the one memory where he lets Lilia, Baur, and the egg go. Lilia might not have even seen the guy outside of that incident so who can say how his memories put together his character. The dream narrative muddles everything in regards to that history.

This is a personal statement from Anon. I have nothing to add here because we talk about missed opportunities around here a lot.

THIRD: (A different subject, so perhaps a different Anon)

If you think it doesn't make sense for Yuu to be feminine in appearance, then that's your opinion and you are allowed to have it. Much of the fandom believes in the self-insert powers given to them as the MC so "Yuu" can technically be whatever they want it to be and can come up with whatever justification they want to because that's the point of leaving the character as a blank slate. No, it's no inherently misogynistic to say that female presenting Yuus don't mesh with how you view the idea of NRC, but they are validated by the concept of the game and story. It is a fantasy and a very malleable one at that.

More missed opportunities. They could have done a lot more in favor of exploring all of the various relationships between the four main Diasomnia students, but they focused more on Silver and Malleus' conflict at the end and how it mirrors their parents as opposed to how it affected them personally.

I'm not sure why, maybe it's the sopping wet cat aura or the fact he's a dilf /hj but they WANT him - they just don't know proper ways to show affection. probably initially mistook it for some unreasonably potent hatred but then realized the mere idea of killing him put them in agony and went "wtf". prior to the spectre they would stalk him , watching him in his own home to learn what he likes and needs and have those things on hand to 'gift' to him (place conveniently in his home when he isn't looking). forget to turn on the coffee maker while getting C00lk1dd ready for school? suddenly there's a ten dollar bill to pay for some at the gas station,,

probably also tried to leave a gift that was heartfelt to them, but scared the shit out of 007n7. decapitated head in the windowsill eeeYIKESS!!!!!!!

by the time both reader and him are in the spectre I think it'd have been years possibly of him having No Idea they were there (except for a very prominent feeling of being watched that he'd brushed off,,) before they see him in a match and finally try to introduce themself. and it probably goes something like "hiii dear!!!!!!!" "who the fuck are you". at some point they explain they love him and offhandedly mention the stalking and gifts and he is horrified. because what do you mean he was getting stalked by a murderer while he was just trying to survive with his baby boy. what do you mean that murderer was obsessed with him.

I think at first he'd be terrified and especially avoidant, not at all reciprocal of the feelings(which would utterly destroy the killer for a while btw), but with how outcast he is amongst the survivors and the constant feeling they'd leave him for dead if it benefitted them,,, the idea of someone so dangerous being so obsessed grows gradually more appealing, the idea of being so wanted, so needed. at some point he gives in and indulges them!! which leads to Something.

the killer blatantly avoids killing him, chasing anyone else; if he's the last one left, they try to be as lenient and lazy about their attacks as they can. their justification? Elliot heals, builderman can heal and build defense, shed and guest and chance stun, noob can function as a meat shield for those with low hp, and two time is annoying. 007n7 is hardly as important to slaughter !!

i think I heard somewhere that while survivors are put in the cabins in between rounds killers go to their own personal limbos but I'm ignoring that for the sake of this next one. they sometimes (as often as possible really) sneak into his cabin just to spend time with him. After seeing his,, rather adverse reaction to finding out you stalked him, and all the gifts, you'd avoided doing so and instead made your presence very known. 007n7 has his own scary dog privilege kinda sorta. He knows you would kill for him, that you'd do anything he asked, and it's just about the only comfort he has in this place. killer!reader is like an obedient guard dog. sometimes he berates himself for being selfish and continuing to reciprocate, lashing out at reader and telling them to go away. the two sheepishly meet again days later, act like nothing happened, back to a somewhat lovey-dovey relationship, repeat

oh and they like sitting at 007n7 feet and lying their head on his lap. like a doggy. however, 007n7 likes it when he's surrounded by them. their arms around him, legs entangled with his, chin tucked atop of his head, his face in their neck. it makes him feel safe.

Oh boy, tomorrow at midnight we get into 2025. I'm excited, and I wanted to share a few words:

Personally, for the next year, I'll be focusing less on trying to be seen, and more on contents, headcanons and threads that I enjoy, and ships I have going on that return the wonderful, warm energy, the interest and the excitement for the stuff I make and show my partners. The way my inbox becomes a dumping ground for muses to do all sorts of unprompted stuff to any instances of Kaeya is a DELICIOUS energy that amuses me very much. I'm eternally grateful for deciding to drag Venus into this community, it was the best decision I ever made. 

Go into the new year feeling proud of yourself, of your accomplishments, and about how much you have produced and wrote, and about your friendships and all the things you've built for yourself. 

If you didn't wrote as much as you feel you could have, take this as evidence that a break was in order, and you'll kick back in gear soon enough. Be kind to yourself, expecially when you can't produce. You will, you're just having a much needed rest.

Now, to address something more serious, some encouragement from someone who was dragged in various situations before coming here:

Leave behind the bad parts of the year: stop making up justifications for people's past and present weird behaviors, first of all. Walk away from weird situations first and foremost. While you should not assume malicious intent as a first read on someone, it's important to avoid adopting a doormat-like behavior. You deserve respect and recognition of your efforts and time.

Groups with people who sees the effort you put into your writing and ideas poured into your characters are all around you. There may be a time where a person you really wanted to roleplay with has been dismissive of you. While it doesn't have to be necessary malicious, if it is: it's their loss. You are not anyone's personal jester, but your own.

You are NOT weird for feeling crazy for someone sending you mixed messages. During my years, I have often done ''reality checks'' by bringing stuff that made me feel confused/conflicted to my trusted people, and hearing from them if it was an appropriate situation to react strongly to or if to leave it be. I will still do this if needed, unapologetically so, and I recommend this method if you're on the fence about someone's behavior or a particular situation.

Don't chase people who clearly have no interest in you. The situation won't change, I speak from experience. Focus on the folks who want to hear you. You cannot command or control a person, you can simply turn around and leave them to their own devices. And remember this: if it waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck... then it's a duck. If they don't care, they don't care.

In a comfortable environment, you don't chase. You sit back, relax and enjoy your group and the ideas y'all have.

Remember all this as you walk into the New Year, and eat lentils. Mwa!

I just beat the dlc for Monster hunter Rise. I definitely am feeling, mixed about the scientist character.

I could probably send you a giant paragraph--and I was till i realized it was a 12 paragraph essay that I was about to drop in your inbox. But basically at its core, its a Scientist who often gets distracted. He sometimes doesn't follow though with expected societal normals. (You go to shake his hand, he does not shake your hand, and the protagonist just looks so upset at that! To be fair, he's distracted at that moment by field research, and had seen something that he felt was incredibly important. )

The character is a non-human character, kinda. (He's a Wyverian, which is basically their Elf-people. They have four fingers, elf ears, and long lifespan. Wyverians frequently show up as Researchers/leaders of the government structures, so the fact that he's a wyverian scientist isn't exactly suspicious, but the fact that he seams to be coded with something while also being a different species then the human ones feels a little dubious.

The other characters also frequently express annoyance at him. Like extreme annoyance. Like, the leader fellow outright says 'His genus has more then earned him a place on this team, even if he is annoying'. Which is kinda terrible to say when he's standing right there next to him!

Often because he will frequently ask them if they ate/rested, which he admits is something he finds to be a problem. (He gets so distracted by his science work that he forgets to eat/drink, until it hits him all at once. Because he often does this, he wants to warn the others/don't have them suffer the same mistakes he does. He also asks you to do the same of him-he deserves to rest too! )

Basically, I definitely feel mixed things to this character. While I ultimately like them, I also worry about the portrayal a bit. Figured I'd tell you about them since you discussed doing some sort of essay about harmful autistic portrayals in the media. While i'm not sure he's particularly harmful, that uncertainty probably is a good thing to be told about, and there could be things you're noticing that I did not. . There are definitely parts I "dislike", but the parts I disliked where more "These characters really are being mean to him when he's just trying to be nice/helpful/caring. This feels far to realistic. ".

The fact that he's a Wyverian is also sorta, iffy to me. Where in universe there are plenty of justifications/reasons why this would be the case, so it leaves me wondering 'Is this okay because there were reasons, or is it still sorta iffy' . (Wyverians are often scientists, and this is a scientist character. Also him being old enough to know certain information was used as a plot point)

Since the dlc is incredibly new, and its unlikely you'd find a lot of information on the character specifically, figured i'd tell ya about him. I probably didn't do the best job. (The games aren't' known for their stories so longplays/other gameplay probably won't talk to every character repeatedly at every opportunity, and thus his dialogue about wanting to keep others from making his repeated mistakes is very easily missed.)

This is a great example of what we call "autistic coding." This character isn't stated to be autistic outright, but he acts visibly autistic, right down to hyperfocusing and forgetting to eat (something I know I've done many, many times in my life).

There's a fine line with autistic-coded characters being non-human species. It's one thing if most of the members of the species act neurotypical, and this one in particular seems autistic, because that's more representative of what it's like to be neurodivergent - you're in the minority. But if an entire species acts this way, it can be verrrry iffy, because if the entire species is autistic-coded, it feels more like "these aliens/elves/non-humans represent how autistic people are not human," which is obviously a terrible message to send, unless you're specifically doing it to show that autistic people aren't seen as human and that changes during the story due to advocacy.

Unfortunately, it seems pretty realistic in the sense of people just saying he's annoying right in front of him, because I know I've experienced that, and so have most other autistic people at least once. They act like we either can't hear them or straight-up do it to be mean, and it hurts. I grew up thinking I had to be excessively useful to get people to keep me around, because otherwise I'd be "too annoying" and cast off, and that ultimately ended horribly for me because I fell into an emotionally abusive friendship in undergrad out of a desperate desire to not be alone and to continue to be helpful/a good friend.

I guess a good way to look at it is like this:

Is he shown as different not just from the humans, but the other Wyverians?

Do his own people refer to him as "odd" or "annoying," or is it only humans?

Is it normal for his people to not shake hands as a greeting? Do they have their own greeting that he also is too distracted to do?

If he's an oddball amongst his own people, it's very different from his entire species being coded as autistic. It can often come down to how other people like him see him - if other members of his species also sees him as "weird" or "annoying," then he's probably being coded pretty well. If he's representative of his species as a whole (i.e. he's the only one you ever see, or they all act like him), then it can veer towards a more dangerous area.

There are so many assholes, both in my inbox and mentions, that can’t seem to do any research on what it is they’ve already decided Zayn is guilty of with almost no evidence.

I looked up that particular charge code and this is what was listed under it:

§ 2709.  Harassment.

(a)  Offense defined.--A person commits the crime of harassment when, with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another, the person:

(1)  strikes, shoves, kicks or otherwise subjects the other person to physical contact, or attempts or threatens to do the same;

(2)  follows the other person in or about a public place or places;

(3)  engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits acts which serve no legitimate purpose;

(4)  communicates to or about such other person any lewd, lascivious, threatening or obscene words, language, drawings or caricatures;

(5)  communicates repeatedly in an anonymous manner;

(6)  communicates repeatedly at extremely inconvenient hours; or

(7)  communicates repeatedly in a manner other than specified in paragraphs (4), (5) and (6).

Now, everyone jumps to that second one automatically because Yolanda claimed that he “struck” her. What I find incredibly interesting is her phraseology. She and TMZ conveniently used the exact same phrasing as what is listed, as if they looked up the code he was charged with and went with whatever would stir up the most controversy. 

For all we know, Zayn committed the offence of any of the other listed possibilities, it could have been as simple as him sending her a nasty text message, or he threatened to harm her (which I don’t condone, but that isn’t the same as actually physically assaulting someone) and she called the cops on him. The whole point being we don’t know the whole story, and therefore can’t just assume what happened in this scenario.

The best advice I would give to Zayn is to be open and actually tell his side of the story. Tell us what he actually did to get charged of such an offence, and what his justifications are. Finally expose the Hadids for the fame whoring, lying family they clearly can’t help themselves from being. The general public tend to always side with whatever it is they hear first, thanks to a phenomena knows as anchor bias. 

He does however have a strong fanbase, and they won’t let the Hadids completely ruin his image like they’re so clearly trying to do.

At least now he is free from the Hadids and his record label. Hopefully that means he can go back to the UK after his sentence is completed and leave all of this shit behind him.

In a better mood and in a much better headspace, it felt good to say that unprompted asks ARE a big deal to me.

The Person who sent me to Therapy would genuinely avoid sending me unprompted asks like one would avoid the plague... aaaaand after a lot of thinking and a lot of stuff that started not to add up, it was malicious indeed. I'm kind of ashamed to say that I peacocked in front of them trying to attract a random blue (1) into my inbox multiple times, but it really never worked. Meanwhile, their other partners would literally be able to stack stuff they sent to all of them up. Not great. Sometimes it's a sign of deep disinterest and only that and I just had to stop making justifications for it.

Sucks to suck, because Venus has always shooted random stuff of all kind into my inbox with positively zero fatigue in doing so and just because they wanted to. haha holy SHIT this got Long. but yes. i’ve been. Thinking. (also literally Never feel like you have to apologize for sending me messages. i was Hoping someone would ask me about this. now i have an Excuse to share EVERYTHING ive written abt it :3)

Obviously, Roy is the leader/brains of the outfit. He grew up having some Strong Opinions abt what’s Legal versus what’s Right due to tragic backstory involving the death of his little brother which was definitely SOMEONE’S fault for negligence but since there technically wasn’t any illegal behavior, there were no consequences for it. Also he’s still angry at his dad bc he thinks his dad is also partly culpable (and also also just a dick). He’s the Moral Backbone of the team (alongside Durkon, more on that later) in basically the same way Nate was in og Leverage. He’s actually not the best at figuring out what people want (that’s Haley and, shockingly, occasionally Elan), but once he has that info, he is the absolute best at figuring out the ideal plan of attack to use in any given case.

Haley is still a thief. I mean she maps to Parker almost PERFECTLY. Her dad was a thief & a conman, her mom wasn’t but knew about it and mostly accepted it, but she died tragically in a mugging gone wrong or smth, which made Ian crank the paranoia WAY up and taught Haley to do the same in the name of “safety”. Let’s keep the “Ian is in Trouble and Haley needs money, Fast” which is why she signs on to the first job in the first place. She’s less acrobatic than Parker, tending towards finding (or making) weak spots in security, but she can still make a tumble check when she needs to.

Elan is the grifter who is somehow an Idiot but also not???? It baffles everyone. When he’s playing a part for a con, he’s FLAWLESS, but then the rest of the time he’s just. No Thoughts Head Empty. He probably gets lured in initially because he’s decided to try his hand at being part of a full team, rather than the two-man cons he’s been running that invariably end w his partner conning him as well and stealing half of his take. Also he likes the idea of being Crime Friends. He’s that tweet where it’s like, Roy: “after the heist is over, we split up and never communicate again” / Elan: [about to unveil his Crime Buddies Forever Friendship Quilt Puppets]: “never?”

Vaarsuvius is the hacker/gadget person. They have a Vaguely Snobby Yet Unidentifiable accent, dyed(?) purple hair (nobody has ever seen their roots) and nobody knows who they “really” are or where they came from, but they’re good at what they do so everyone just accepts the mystery. They probably got suckered into the team by their initial employer (who I’ll get to Eventually, lol) framing it as a challenge to their intellect, like, “oh, I see, you’re not smart enough to make this team work for you...” to which they were like Fucking Watch Me and also melted his computer. Anyways. They are joined (digitally) by their Intrepid Friend And Co-Conspirator (his words, not theirs), a fellow hacker known only as Blackwing, or, on certain forums, Blackwing_Bird. (In the first season, V only occasionally references him when saying they’re “calling in extra help” or smth for a particularly complex hack job. He starts showing up a little more in s2 and eventually by the start of s4 is a regular & established presence, but only appears as actions in a computer interface or output.) Elan is convinced he’s an AI, Belkar doesn’t think he actually exists, Haley pretends she doesn’t think he exists, and Durkon and Roy try not to think about it too hard, as long as B and V still get the job done.

Belkar is the hitter. He is on the team bc their initial employer got him out of jail for it. He doesn’t have a tragic backstory, he just likes doing violent crimes. As the series progresses, he grows some empathy & stuff, but really only for people who actually deserve it. Assholes still get decked. It’s all very touching. (Also he has dwarfism caused by achondroplasia. It doesn’t actually bother him and is useful in fights bc his opponents frequently have no fucking clue how to approach him, but he likes Pretending to take offense at stupid things just to see how far he can go with it.)

Aaaand last but not least, Durkon is the least involved member of the team. He’s actually a career criminal and Roy’s mentor, and wasn’t a member of the initial team that [redacted, I’ll tell you later, PROMISE] put together for a couple of reasons, the main one being that he’s Officially retired in order to spend more time with his family, which consists of his mom, his friend (not girlfriend) Hilgya, baby Kudzu, and a truly stunning number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Roy frequently calls or visits him for advice and he Occasionally shows up to help out on local jobs, but generally he avoids doing crime if he can (as part of a deal with Hilgya, who is also a career criminal; basically, they’ve both cut back on the crime in order to provide a more stable home environment for Kudzu. But sometimes, you gotta do a little crime, and in those cases, Sigdi enjoys spending time w her grandson.)

NOW. THE BIG REVEAL YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR. Who got the team together in the first place?!

The answer: Lord Shojo (or whatever Normal Person Name you want to assign him). Now this is where it gets tricky: he had them do a thing that they thought was good, THEN they thought it was BAD, but then when they confronted him he revealed that it Appearing to be bad was actually a test of character and would they consider working as basically internal investigators for him? But then he had a heart attack, so, rip. But THEN it turned out that he’d left them a bunch of money anyway and they were all feeling kind of Inspired so they formed the Order of the Stick, LLC (which, no, i am not coming up with a new name, actually, because I just don’t care. someone else can come up w a justification for that name, tho, i’m sure it’s possible). Also Miko was there and was unhappy abt their actions, and also their general existence.

Moving on. Villains!

Redcloak is the Sterling replacement, because that DEEPLY amuses me.

Xykon is a season-long main villain, probably one that Redcloak finds himself working for but then “teams up with” (read: blackmails) the Order to bring him down bc even Redcloak finds Xykon distasteful. That’s season 3, let’s say.

Tarquin is another season villain, say season 2. Nale probably shows up pretty early in s1, actually, as another recurring antagonist like Sterling but uh. Less good at it. Anyways the s2 final 3 eps deal with them (accidentally) discovering that Tarquin runs some Evil Empire Company, then trying to outplay him and take him down. Idk if Nale still dies in this version tbh.

Tsukiko is a one-off s1 villain who returns briefly in s4 alongside Miko, who has gone well and truly off the rails.

Season 1 finale has to do w Roy finally getting Vengeance for his little brother.

The vampire squad is the s4 finale villain who do smth terrible to Durkon and then get the Mother Of All Revenge served up to them by the Order.

I envision the show as being 5 seasons (like og Leverage) but I’m not going to sketch out s5 because I think it should be based off whatever happens in the current story arc, possibly involving some legacy of the OotSquiggle.

Other stuff!

The Order of the Squiggle is a legendary criminal team from the 60s who stole a BUNCH of famous shit & then proceeded to legendarily implode. This has no bearing on the plot I’ve sketched out, I just think it’s fun.

The Sapphire Guard members should probably be reworked as FBI. I don’t care about most of them but I do think that Lien and O-Chul could be like, FBI agents who Choose to look the other way while the Order does their very-much-not-legal-but-still-fair Justice Crime, and maybe even help them out on occasion.

So, the Final season-by-season outline, based on everything I’ve written so far:

s1 e1: getting the team together, doing a con for Shojo, then at the end he dies and the gang is like “dang what now?" and intend to split up except then they Don’t.

mid-s1: Nale shows up and tries to trick the Order, but then gets beat like a drum.

late s1: Tsukiko is an underling of the Villain Of The Week, winds up in police custody. But She’ll Be Back.

s1 finale: Roy’s Vengeance: The Vengeaning. also we meet Redcloak as an antagonist.

s2 e1: the truth abt Haley’s father comes out

early s2: The Two Live Crews Job but it’s the Order vs the Linear Guild and the Linear Guild ARE all bad guys.

mid-s2: Redcloak returns. ugh.

late s2: the sapphire guard FBI makes its first appearance, hello O-Chul and Lien.

s2 pre-finale: once again they’re in conflict w Nale over smth, he spends the whole episodes making Cryptic Remarks, they basically beat him (like a drum!) but then the stinger at the end is that Tarquin reveals himself and Elan is like “Dad?!”, roll credits.

s2 finale, part 1: Elan is hanging out w Tarquin bc he’s DEEP in Denial, the Rest of the team tries to take Tarquin down, but it doesn’t work.

s2 finale, part 2: Elan finally gets a clue and they manage to beat Tarquin. still haven’t decided if Nale dies or not, but I’m leaning towards yes. also they rescue Haley’s dad.

s3 e1: fuck dude idk.

early s3: Redcloak shows up, AGAIN, everyone groans. he has blackmail on them, he wants them to take Xykon down.

mid s3: The Rashomon Job but it’s about stealing the Talisman of Dorukan and it turns out that Nale was there too (“oh!” Elan says. “I was wondering why I looked so weird in all those mirrors! But it wasn’t my reflection, it was Nale’s!” “Sweetie, that wasn’t Nale’s reflection,” says Haley. “Huh,” says Elan, “so the mirrors were broken?”, cue eye rolling from everyone else.), and the Successful thief was Hilgya, who’d nabbed it from the owner before it even went on display.

s3 finale: they beat Xykon, actually factually, because he deserves to get his ass Thoroughly kicked, even if only in AU form. Lien and O-Chul are there, so are some other less helpful FBI people. There’s a bit where O-Chul Exact Wordses his way out of telling his superiors about the Order’s less legal activities without technically lying. King shit.

s4 e1: doesn’t really matter. maybe smth to do w some legacy of Tarquin’s company to set up the drama w Malack & Durkon later.

early s4: Durkon gets SENT TO PRISON. Malack approaches the Order abt this because sure they have Different Ethics but they’re still Friends. (Roy is surprised and a little hurt that he’s never heard of Malack, but he ignores that in favor of Let’s Get Whatever Fuckers Did This To Our Friend.)

immediately after that: Miko and Tsukiko return as a Team, preventing the Order from working on the Durkon situation

mid s4: Redcloak makes another unexpected & unwelcome appearance but he’s maybe a little less of a dick? the Order collaborates with Malack & his Crime Buddies (hello, Vector Legion) to pull one over on him tho, because “less of a dick” does not mean “a pleasant or decent person”, and also he was mean abt Durkon being in jail, so he totally deserved it. he still gets whatever he wanted tho, just takes a blow to his pride. also prevents the Order from helping Durkon. they’re having a LOT of setbacks wonder why that could be, not to make sure the season fills its whole length or anything, no sirree

s4 finale: something something taking down the organization, headed by Hel (yes that’s her real name), which framed Durkon for their Big Crime. Durkon goes free and Extra Firmly retires, For Good, He Swears, but says he “met someone new” who might be an asset.

s5 e1: minrah joins the team! and the episode is set in like, somewhere really snowy. that’s all i got.

the rest of s5: don’t know, don’t care, it’s open-ended until the comic finishes up.

contemplating if sending this ask is worth the c!sam discourse bc tbh I've been exhausted by it these past days but! you talked about sam and regret and - I feel like sam is in this position where he's constantly on the edge, because his problem is that he cares too much - he does regret a fuck ton, but he doesn't see any other way to do anything, and thus puts on this warden persona, a steel barrier between himself and his emotions, to be, he's the definition of "between a rock and a hard place", damned if you do, damned if you don't

I think a very good example is quackity's stream, where it's so clear how easily influenced he is, and how when he latches onto an idea, he gets tunnel vision. with tommy - he mourns and it hit him like a truck, but in his mind what could he do? as he said - dream could have used tommy as a hostage etc, and safety of the server, thus inescapability of the prison, is a priority. with ghostbur also - if he extended the bridge, in his mind, dream would most likely use ghotbur as a hostage and escape (dream hismelf called ghostbur a hostage, so), plus, with how much tommy's death in that cell fucked him up, I don't think he calculated the fact that tommy is armed, his brain just couldn't out tommy in that cell again, and that's why he put down the lava

he is very paranoid about the prison, fueled by isolation and time spent with dream, enabled and at the same time manipulated by quackity, fresh from the egg banquet which was a final testament of the fact that he can't trust any of his closest friends no matter how much he tries to help them and no matter how much they seem like they're trustworthy (the eggpire, hannah etc), drowning in guilt over tommy's death (remember the quackity stream and the ranboo stream in particular), with no support system, nothing there to at least suggest another direction, plus he has a natural tendency to bear everything onto himself - responsibility, faults, everything - regardless of what anyone says or does, and a tendency of getting tunnel vision when he latches onto an idea (for example that tommy was there to release dream, not kill him)

and let me say this - this isn't a justification of sam's actions, this isn't to say that what he did or said was good actually, nor is it to say that he wasn't at fault, because it isn't, what he said to tommy was horrible and uncalled for and it was still sam's actions, what he did to ponk, and what he allows quackity to do is horrible and wrong, and there's no debate about that, I'm not here to debate that

however I'm here to say that i think, to say that he's not unwavering in his actions, and to say that he's fine with them? to me it's wrong. when he says 'i will murder you' and 'im doing this out of my free will' and 'it was perfect when it was just me and him'? the tone he uses is a tired one, it's defeated, it's the voice of a man that knows what he does is wrong and hates it but doesn't see any other way

as cc!sam said - c!sam has to choose between what he thinks is good for the server, and what he personally thinks is right - these are not the same things to sam. (also cc!sam, when talking about whether or not c!sam goes to see dream/tortures him, said that c!sam would rather not see or be anywhere dream at all (and also that he doesn't torture him himself), which are his personal feelings, as opposed to what he's doing "for the good of the server" aka "it was perfect when it was just him and me")

so - how does regret factor into c!sam? I feel like he does not regret his actions in a way because he saw those as the only option - However, I do think that he regrets the very fact that it was the only option - he doesn't regret the actions itself but the fact that he, in his eyes, had to do them

please keep in mind that 4th paragraph, not trying to defend his actions or words here, nor trying to say that people have no right to be mad, I'm just saying that I think people greately overestimate sam's stability and "confidence" he has in what he does, I feel like people often mistake "he did his best in the situation he was in given his capabilities and mental state" with "he did good", and that's why when people try to explain sam's character they get angry. because no! he did bad! he did terrible actually! but the key here is why he did so badly, and why, because of his mental state, he didn't have the capability to do better
