Y/n stiffens, looking for a way out of this situation. "Oh, I'm okay, thank you. I was just leaving-"

He cuts her off, his grip tightening. "So, what's your name?" She fumbles, shifting uncomfortably. "Y/n, and you?"

"You can call me Valentino.~" His hands move lower, subtly squeezing her lower back, he nuzzles his face into her neck, giving it a kiss. "If you won't let me buy you a drink, let me take you home, baby. You're real cute, I could show you a good time." He whispers seductively, his breath ghosting over her neck, causing her to shiver.

Y/n quickly jumps out of her seat, turning around to face him. "Whst the hell, man!? Who do you think you are!?" She throws the reminder of her drink at him, causing it to splash on his face.

She quickly runs out of the bar after that, holding back tears as she walks home. "Can't believe it.." she sniffles, leaning against a brick wall.

She lets out a few strangled sobs before continuing to walk, before she suddenly feels a pair of arms wrapping themselves around her waist. She instinctively tries to scream, only for a hand to be clamped over her mouth.

"Oh, kitten, kitten, kitten, did you really think you could reject me like that, hm?" Shit. Valentino chuckles, holding her against himself. "I don't think so, little girl. You're coming home with me. Now."

She desperately tries to scream, to tight, to push him away; but she's completely pinned against him. It isn't long before Valentino quickly pulls out a ballgag. He quickly removes his hand from her mouth, instead tying the gag around her head, her screams and cries become even more muffled and vain.

Valentino smirks, satisfied, and throws her over his shoulder; beginning to walk into the distance.

finally getting around to answering this because something crazy hasn't come up.

stone tops are fucking fantastic. i love stone tops. for people who don't fully know what a stone top is, a stone top is someone who strictly only gives in sex. so topping, oral, fingering, etc. but never receiving and this can be due to a plethora of reasons. it can be due to sexual trauma, dysphoria, whatever, and each person has an individual boundary. so, for example, one might be okay with having lie their hips touched, but another may say "absolutely no touch at all unless i am the one initiating it". each stone top has different boundaries and restrictions, but ultimately it's all about the person you're talking to. you can also be a sub stone top if you're introducing power dynamics, and you can even be a stone top for a power bottom.

note: some people think this is relegated to only butches and mascs, but stone femmes also exist and are very much loved. no matter what someone tells you, topping does not equate gender identity or gender presentation!

this may not be exactly what you were looking for anon, but the reason you don't see a lot of "stone top" type readers is because fandoms are very very cisheteronormative despite liking to act like this bastion of queer sex and identity lol. the majority of the x reader community consists of cishet sex, so the concept of "stone" doesn't apply in these situations. and, chances are, people that do write mlm, wlw, etc. aren't fully aware of "stone" identities or, in worse case scenario, mock them for being weird or "too much" in terms of boundaries. fandoms in general are uhhhhhh very weird about atypical queer presentations that deviate too much from "the norm" (eg. the smaller and more feminine one is typically the bottom, the bigger and most masculine one is typically the top), if i'm gonna be frank with you.

i have a few characters that i write/headcanon as being stone tops, and i'll probably make an entirely separate post for them because i don't want to clog up the tags with this whole post lol. ik i've written blade in the past as a t4t strict top and, looking back at it, he's definitely a stone top lol.

The proshit discourse is so funny to me because, you would think it would be obvious for the disgusting freaks of nature to know that "Hey, drawing problematic ships and such is... well, problematic" but I guess not.

I also seen proshitters trying to use so many excuses of why they make that sort of content, one of the comment excuses is "To deal with trauma" or even "My therapist says that I'm allow to draw/create this content because it helps me". Which if that is the case then... why not do it on a private account or away from the public? Because if you are going to draw proshit stuff or write proshit stuff as a way to cope with what happened to you in the past, you should do it in private because by posting it in the public you are feeding predators and abusers (or future abusers) this sort of stuff or even making the child think that this stuff is "okay" and "normal" (just like what happened to me in the past where unfortunately, I met a couple of people and use to listen to a certain YTber [*cough cough* reitanna seishin] and was convince that incest is "fine" as long as it's same sex couples... thank god I never wrote or created art of same sex incest or anything but still, it fucked me up and opened to me being groomed online). Favorite Thing: I love it when the big intimidating characters like smaller animals. Like you think this guy would like Pitbulls or Rottweilers or something, but nope. Also, I would kill for his jacket, it looks so cool!

Least Favorite Thing: This is difficult for me, I don't necessarily hate anything about his character (other than his hair, he's all you would be getting from me if I could draw his fucking hair). I guess that he's a little quick to choose violence, poor Chihiro (and Makoto). Definitely chapters 1 and 2 Fuyuhiko vibes.

Favorite Line: He has so many funny lines in the anime but I'm gonna stick to the game. Going through his voice lines, he's so fucking useless during the trials but he has a lot of funny back-and-forths with other characters. I like the one at the beginning of the first trial where him and Taka go back and forth a little bit. "Don't be a goddamn idiot. Why the hell would they raise their hand?"

BrOTP: Already said him and Leon for Leon's. I would love to see him interact more with Sakura and Aoi, though. Maybe they can teach him there are better ways to release your anger. Okay, maybe Sakura can teach both of them that lesson.

Fandom tropes? Ahhhh, idk what this means but I'll take a stab at it because I have strong opinions and can't shut my mouth.

I really hate a lot in fics when its obvious the person writing it views characters in mlm or wlw relationships in a binary lense. Basically, one character is the "woman" and one is the "man". I also hate the weird amount of "I have aged up the characters to be 40 and they are now divorced with kids and they find other character who I have aged up" idk why but those fics get to me. I just hate fanfics with characters who don't have kids in canon having kids.... idk.... I am just not a fan. But that's not really harmful so I don't care if people write it. The first one I mention makes me want to commit a felony.

Let’s Talk A/B/O Dynamics

Tl;dr: It’s fetishistic and bad, and writers have a lot of misogyny they need to get over. Also, this is a sexual dynamic, so I’m going to be talking about penises and vaginas and weird sex things, and unfortunately some discussion of rape, misogyny, classism, transphobia, and homophobia. This is your warning.

ABO dynamics are one of the biggest fanfiction AUs out there, and that’s a really bad thing. However, before we can begin to discuss why they’re bad, we need to start with the history of them.

First of all: What is ABO?

ABO (or, more properly, A/B/O but my hands were tired after doing that once for the title so I dropped it) stands for Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics. Essentially, take our society and the binary genders, and then slap a “seccondary” gender on top of it.

Alphas are the “top dog,” so to speak. Alphas, in fanfiction, are the leaders of society, usually military, political, or nobles. If male, they just have a large penis, that includes the ability to “knot” a partner. Like dogs. Female alphas (very rarely if at all seen in fiction) have both a vagina and a penis, usually, and the penis is still able to knot. They experience “ruts” which we’ll get into later. Usually seen in story as a member of the main pairing, or as a villain against the main pairing.

Betas are just regular humans. Sometimes, they’re thought of as “mediators” between Alpha/Omega relationships, but not commonly. They actually don’t have the secondary gender, and so have the reproductive capabilities of cis men and women. They work alongside the Alphas normally. In fanfiction, usually what the omega member of the pairing tries to hide as, and friends of the main pairing. 

Omegas are the lower class, usually. Most writing has them as sex slaves, sold off to the highest Alpha bidder. Male omegas are, for some reason, almost always rare in the worlds. If they do work, it’s usually as nurses or support staff, not leaders or heroes or anything like that. Male omegas have both penises and “vaginas” but they’re never called a vagina despite being literally the exact same thing. Female omegas (mentioned, usually, but almost never seen) are the same as cis women. Both experience “heats”, which we will also get into later. Usually the other member of the main pairing.

Already, we can see some issues. First off, the class systems. Alphas are high class, betas middle class, and omegas lower class. Almost everything I’ve read ABO wise has this setup. Some have it as a “in the past” kind of thing, but it’s usually still kinda seen, much like women’s rights in our world. 

Also, there’s the idea of omegas being inherently weaker than alphas. In all fanfictions of ABO I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot, before becoming disillusioned), I can recall one (and sort of another) that actually addressed this and tried to challenge it. And even then, it still sort of falls into the trappings of it’s genre. But this trope is very prevalent, and all kinds of wrong. I hope I don’t have to explain why.

Oh, and ABO dynamics are always (with VERY few exceptions, like one or two) with gay men, often written by straight cis women. (There is nothing inherently wrong with writing gay men as a straight cis woman, by the way, but straight cis women tend to fall into homophobic and transphobic tropes more often than gay men or trans men.)

But then we start getting into what can really only be described as rape apologizing. How? I’ll explain.

Remember the ruts and heats from earlier? Well, they’re major parts of a sexual encounter in an ABO fic, which disturbingly often follows as such:

1. Main omega character goes into heat, a biological function that makes omegas basically incapable of thinking of anything but having sex with an alpha. This is almost never in a good situation.

2. Main alpha character comes across omega character in situation, and experiences a rut, brought on by omega pheromones from heat. Ruts are like heats for alphas, and depending on the fic, this is where it can get really dark.

3. Alpha either has sex with unable to consent omega, leading to the omega immediately falling in love, or alpha manages to overcome their urges and is praised for their restraint, and the omega immediately falls in love.

Yeah, it’s pretty fucking bad. Let’s go step by step:

The blatant fetishizing and apology of rape: You can’t argue that, in that position, an omega character is able to consent. They are in an altered state, where the rational mind is not present. No matter what the character says in that moment, if you suggest that they are taken over by this urge to mate, they cannot be in a position to consent. If an alpha character has sex with them in this moment, they are raping that character. And it’s not like both parties are “taken by the urge”, either, as the alpha rutting experience is almost always written as an extremely persistent boner and not an all-consuming drive to mate.

Uncontrollable bodily urges: It steps way too fucking close to men who have raped saying that they were unable to control themselves. So close that it’s practically overlapping. 

Homophobia: Gay men are seen as sexual creatures by society first and foremost, and to paint them as, essentially, animals with no control over their sexual urges, as rapists, is really fucking homophobic.

“But, but!” You say, clutching your ABO fic to your chest. “Not all ABO fics have scenes like this! You just read all the bad ones, somehow!”

Oh, sure, some of them include meeting and getting together without all the stuff I mentioned before. Doesn’t mean they aren’t bad.

None of the alpha/omega dynamics are healthy because they aren’t equals in the world. One member of the pairing inevitably holds power over the other, and often they use that power over the other. It’s not good, or healthy, or what you should want in a relationship.

Oh, and there’s the fact that all of these are transphobic. See, the main point of ABO fics, and why they really became a thing, is MPreg, or male pregnancy. Because awww, aren’t my OTP babies so cute??? But we couldn’t make one of them a trans man, who would be, you know, actually able to get pregnant in real life. That would bring vaginas into my gay ship, and women (ugh) are icky and gross!!!!!111

And that’s why ABO fics don’t call omega’s birth canals “vaginas.” Because a lot of the writers of these fics are scared of vaginas or have way too much internalized misogyny.

See, ABO fics are just a symptom of a bigger issue of in the yaoi fandom. They fetishize gay men, and it shows heavily in the fanfiction they write. I used to be like this. I read and enjoyed ABO fics, and other fics that have these issues for years, but once I came out and actually started to look at how fandoms treat gay men from the perspective of a gay man, I started to realize how harmful they are.

So please, think about what you write, y’all. It may be fictional characters, but it harms real people.

I'm a bi woman and I've got tons of different characters of different genders and sexualities. Tbh most of my characters are bi and when engaging with other peoples shows/art/etc. 99% of the time I headcanon their characters as bi.

But I DO have a few gay and lesbian characters, and a lot of same sex couples. In one story there's 2 straight couples, 1 lesbian couple, and I think 2 or 3 gay couples (I'm still deciding things)

I love these two male characters and they're both attractive to me so I'd love to see/read them fuck. But also I love to see/read stuff with them and my favorite female character because she's also hot."

So for me it's less "omg they're hot boiz touching each others pee pees I love those yaoi gayz" and more "I don't care about their sexuality or gender they're hot and I want to see them fuck"

Reading an article on Forbes about fetishization of POC and it says "Fetishization can be thought of as the act of making someone an object of sexual desire based on some aspect of their identity." But for me I don't care about their sexuality, just THEM. Obviously their sexuality is a part of them but for me it's not really that important and it's more of that I find them as a person attractive.

So is that still fetishization? Idk I feel like it would be WORSE if I got rid of all of my gay/lesbian characters and just stuck to same-sex couples because then my stories would have 0 representation for anyone who's not exactly like me.

I need you to understand how frustrating it is for you to ask me for validation about wanting to keep writing and reading MLM porn as a bi woman when the justification you use is literally the "You aren't black to me, I don't see color" logic of it. If their sexualities actually didn't matter to you, then why does it matter if MLM say "People like you doing this is deeply fucked up and harming us"? Their/Our sexuality wouldn't matter to you, so you'd feel no issue about no longer partaking in deeply fucked up shit and harming us.

So to answer this as kindly as I can: Yes, it is fetishization on a definitive level, and the mixture of trying to justify it with the guilt trip cop out of "Well should I just abandon all my OCs that aren't bi women and never write anything else ever then?" and the "Well I don't ACTUALLY care about their sexualities, so it's okay for me to keep doing this right, because it does actually matter to me?"

Books of the year.

So it's almost New Years! and looking back at 2021 it turns out I read something like 40 queer YA books in the year (not counting re-reads) and a lot of them were shit some of them were okay and a few were truly great so lets run down the greats that you should totally read in 2022.

1. All Kinds of Other

by James Sie

I literally can not recommend this book enough, if I thought it would work I'd attack strangers on the street to force them to read it, when my 14 year old cousin came out as trans this is the book I got him, I love this book. So 2021 saw a flowering of trans mlm books, which is great, only most of them were horrible. All Kinds of Other brings us a trans teenager who is funny, snarky, faces dysphoria and transphobia in totally human and relatable ways. It deals with issues without ever becoming a PSA slog. Again this is most likely my book of the year and if even one person reads it because of this I'll cry tears of joy. oh also the author James Sie is the voice of the cabbage guy in Avatar The Last Air Bender if that matters to you.

2. The Darkness Outside Us

by Eliot Schrefer

I don't even know how to talk about this one without spoiling I guess I'd say the first half is "what if Romeo and Juliet, but gay, set in the sci fi future in space and co-staring the HAL 9000?" and then we get into an amazingly deep, at times painful examination of what it means to be alive, to be human, what is destiny and what is love. There are scenes of unflinching intensity and gut punches that leave you feeling for the characters all the way through. I'm currently enjoying a reread right now with a friend.

3. A Complicated Love Story Set in Space

by Shaun David Hutchinson

When he's firing on all cylinders there's almost no one better than SDH and A Complicated Love Story Set in Space is one of his best. Yes it's another love story set on a space ship where not everything is as it seems sue me I have a type. In here you'll get an intense meta criticism of reality TV and a gut punch to any one who writes fiction and ever sat up late at night feeling guilty about the things you do to characters and the things we maybe should think more deeply about before using as tropes in fiction.

4. The City Beautiful

If you're into historical fiction or intensely Jewish stories/characters this is for you 100%. Lots of loving detail has gone into depicting 1893 Chicago particularly it's Jewish world. It's full of Jewish food, Yiddish, 1890s political radicalism, Judaism, and Jewish folklore. It's a bit of slow burn on the romance but the imagery is lovely and if you're a nice Jewish boy you'll feel Alter Rosen on a deep level.

Flash Fire by TJ Klune and Mister Impossible by Maggie Stiefvater

Since both books are part of a series, Flash Fire being book two of a trilogy and Mister Impossible being book two of a trilogy that carries on with characters from another series of books I can't rate them as stand alone works. But if you're looking for series there are few better than the Raven Cycle and the Dream Trilogy is great so far, I loved Mister Impossible's mediations on art, particularly all the John Singer Sargent, he's always been a favorite and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum which appears in the book a lot is one of my favorite places. TJ Klune's Extraordinaries series is laugh out loud funny, a little sassy and a little rude. If you've ever liked Superheroes its totally for you, if you've ever been an ADHD mess or an awkward but lovable boy also worth your time

I am pretty much an omnishipper which means I support everything but not all of them catch my interest in the same way.

I tend to be drawn to ships with a bit of shade, where they could/do antagonise each other a little or a lot, even better if one or more involved have done some questionable shit. I like ships that aren't so straightforward, self-evident, or popular, because the fun for me is to figure out how a rare, unlikely or non-intuitive puzzle of a relationship works or could be possible.

For me it's a little less "who?" and it's more "what are they bringing to the table?" If the concept is interesting to me, even if the ship is super-established, I'll be curious. I've read plenty of QuiObi and cried tears over Codywan, I love Anidala and classics like HanLeia but I know I'm never going to write for those. I never even sit back and wonder about them. Because I get why they work. Those are what I read when I know exactly what I need and will get.

For instance, Din/Luke is the leading mlm ship in the Mando fandom (I think) and I think it's sweet! It also gives Din plenty of opportunities to be with his baby 🤗💛 But nothing fires in my brain for that ship because... I get it 😂 also they're both so similar in their gentle natures and I prefer ships where there's more fire in the complement. DinLuke would be the neighbours I want to live beside but I sure don't wonder about their prospective love life.

(I'm more partial to Han/Luke because Back In My Day we liked pain; how would Luke navigate this impasse where he may love his sister unconditionally but he's trying to smother this shameful, painful yearning for her partner/husband, etc.)

The only things I don't write are reader inserts and OCs (basically the same thing). Again, I support them and I've read plenty, ok my first entry into writing for Mando was the absurdly popular pairing of Din and this original stormtrooper character named Corin BC the writer was just that engaging, but now I have an actual cast to play with. I'd rather see what opportunities they all provide for me.

I GOTCHU DONT EVEN WORRY ABOUT IT IT TAKES SOME PRACTICE BUT IT BECOMES HABIT VERY EASILY WHEN I WROTE SMUT IT ONLY TOOK ME A COUPLE WEEKS TO PERFECT IT WITH MY STYLE

Okay so do not feel bad for specifying at the beginning of a chapter AMAB or AFAB bodies, because detailed and good sex scenes and smut fics have references to anatomy this is just fact, because sex of any type includes, yknow, BODIES. AFAB gender neutral reader, you can say clit, AMAB gender neutral reader, you can say cock and prostate, it's not super complicated. I'd avoid going into detail about the chest area (i.e. Not "they kissed at their breasts/pecs" but "they kissed at their chest", referencing muscles goes more like "Running their hands across their chest, feeling at their defined muscle," stuff like that) but other than that anatomy is very straightforward. Practice with AMAB bodies in fics too if you're unfamiliar writing them!! It goes a long way, practice makes perfect!

It is more about how the reader is interacted with and less about how you approach anatomy, even though how you approach anatomy does matter. You honestly probably do this a lot when you're trying to practice but check that you've replaced pronouns with They/Them pronouns, avoid phrases like Good Girl/Boy and replace them with something similar, like "Good pet", "Good toy", "Being so good for me", etc etc, this is probably language you already know to use in a gender neutral reader fic but haven't actively put in yet. It's as simple as just making sure the tone and feel of how they're being treated doesn't sway towards masc or fem, and that they're just them, yknow? (unrelated to you orost blogs I follow but I stg tho if I see another fic on ao3 or fanfic. Net "less feminine reader this time UwU" and the only difference is the reader tops I'm gonna SCREAM-)

It's all about practice and being hyper vigilant to catch yourself when you start using gendered language, which takes a bit to get the hang of, but is super easy to edit when you're genuinely trying, so I think you'll get the hang of it really quickly!!! It's super simple when you know what you gotta do!//
