cleaning my room and i found the first thing i ever tried to knit as a child. theres a couple more strips of garter stitch done with clearly improved motor skills but i feel very sentimentaly attached to this somehow. it's like finding a preserved textile in a bog.
it's cool to compare it to my most recent finished object-- since actually teaching myself back in October. i love learning. i love seeing past evidence of my love of crafts.

finished one sock, wound the yarn for the second! my new yarn ball lacks a little of the picturesque nature of the hand-wound with the isolated stripes, but gains significantly in not having knocked my wrist out for the rest of the night and taking orders of magnitude less time to wind. thanks @fourpatch for recommending this stanwood winder, it was easy to assemble and easy to eat

I finished my first ever pair of socks!! I completely understand why so many people love sock knitting now
The pattern is the Petal Drop Socks by Florence Miller. It was a great first sock pattern. The yarn is wool, cashmere, and nylon and the variegation was fun to watch come together.
One sock blocked out a little larger than the other but even with that I am the very happy owner of a new pair of socks ☺️

WIP Wednesday
The ace pride hat kit is coming along nicely! I'm definitely glad I started with the black instead of the purple like the pattern wanted, I'm much happier with this result overall than I was with the pictures of the finished hat as the kit intended. I have plenty of black and grey left, so I almost wish I'd added more length to each section.
Actually made some progress on the socks this week! With this week's progress, I'm about 75% of the way through the foot, and then I'll be onto the short row heel. The fade in this yarn is extremely gradual, but so far I'm really happy with how they're turning out!
No progress on the Leafy Leaf cowl this week. I'm planning the next restart of my cardigan after frogging it at the beginning of the month, and I promised myself I could start it once the Leafy Leaf cowl is done, so I've been trying to knock out some of my other wips first.

Tumblr exclusive pic of my brothers Christmas present! Really the only thing I’ve been able to knit on this past week, oof. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. Only my second time doing color work, but by the end of this holiday season I’m gonna be pretty savvy at it, cause I’m also making color work hats for my other brother and my dad lmao.
