saw a post the other day full of people complaining about helping older people use computers, about how clueless they can be, how frustrating it is to have to tell them basics like where to click, exactly what to type, how some people just never seem to get it. then an addition was someone who works in a library sharing a story of a ninety-something woman who picked it up instantly. it’s not difficult, this elderly woman said! wow heartwarming.
i’m here to say that plenty of older and disabled and otherwise marginalised people do not know how to use computers and in some cases will find it very difficult if not impossible to learn to use them. for many people it is difficult. it can be insurmountable. we should be fighting for a world where vulnerable people who are not computer literate can use computers with assistance when they want to, but where they do not need to use computers, ever. this is a serious access issue as so much government paperwork is moving to being online only. your frustration at working a job that likely overworks and underpays you to help people use these computers - please think before turning it on the disenfranchised and vulnerable people who rely on you for assistance and resources.
it’s an annoyance for you? then think about why is it that governments habitually move the resources that vulnerable people need to live to online-only when they know as well as you and i do that the digital divide is real. think about how intentionally difficult governments and agencies make it to access forms and paperwork and everything else that is needed to claim such a small amount of money as people currently get when they are out of work and trying to claim benefits, or on allowances for refugees, etc. how much are governments dedicated to taking away people’s dignity and autonomy by swapping to a system that millions of people do not have access to without going into a public library and asking for help, if there’s even anyone there who is able to or allowed to help? i can get people set up with email and find websites for them but im not even allowed to help with sensitive forms - i can only do what i can, you know. i wish it was more.
before i started this job i thought of myself as impatient. i’m not going to tell you any stories in detail because my library patrons didn’t consent to being A Teaching Moment. but i have requests from “difficult” patrons every day. i take a deep breath and if i don’t have a queue, i try to help. i smile and say “don’t worry” when someone is apologising over and over because they were never taught this and they are stressed out and it doesn’t make sense to them. not everyone grew up with neopets and Hotmail. it makes you no better than them if you did.
i’m not perfect but i’m trying. just… think about it, next time you roll your eyes because another old lady doesn’t know how to use gmail, even though you’ve already shown her what to click. ask if your library has thought about seeing up dedicated sessions for helping people use computers if they need assistance (maybe it’ll take some of the work away from you and give you more breathing space). make leaflets telling people where they can go nearby for help with computers - maybe some local charities or non-profits have drop-in sessions. join campaigns for easier access, for letting people who can’t use computers do what they need to without needing to find some way to get online. all of these are more useful in holding solidarity than in just being frustrated that another person in their seventies, eighties, nineties, struggles to use a computer.
a couple more notes of things that i think about a lot when it comes to computer access at the library that might not occur to people who don’t routinely help people out with basic computer stuff:
2-factor authentication is the devil. i understand the intention behind it and cyber security is important and difficult! but 2-factor authentication in practice locks out and disenfranchises vulnerable people every day, makes them unable to access their emails and everything else on the web that depends on their email, makes them unable to access their data and government portals, and makes them even more vulnerable than governments already conspire to make them. plenty of people just do not understand how 2FA works. it doesn’t matter how many times the google website says : look at your phone and click on this number. or whatever. if somebody else is not there to tell them what to do — if they haven’t recently had to change their phone number, as many vulnerable people might have had to do — they will not be able to do it.
google have recently been selling chromeboxes to public libraries (and schools) cheap. chromeboxes in public libraries are also the devil. on a windows PC loaded with word, lots of people are happy and able to do what they need to do. the problem comes when they have to log in to a google account just to access a fucking word processor. it’s a scandal how many people are locked out of access to something as simple as a word processor unless they have a google or Microsoft account. we are talking people who don’t want email accounts, who just want to type up a letter to send in the post. Every time I ask online for a good alternative I get something extremely tech-y or like fucking online textpad. we just need a good accessible word clone that runs in a web browser like Word XP. It would make a lot much easier. And yet!

Request Guidelines
Please make sure to attentively read all of the rules, as well as my disclaimers before submitting a request.
Please keep in mind that I tend to ignore vague requests, so don’t be afraid to give me details!
Tumblr media
⚠️ Disclaimers
• There may be spoilers for the series/games that I’ll be writing for.
• Some characters will be aged up. If you’re against aged up content, let’s kindly agree to disagree. Filling my inbox with hate is not appropriate, and you’re more than welcome to block me if my content doesn’t resonate with you. There are, however, some characters that I’ll still only write in a platonic manner. (Ex: Luke from Obey Me, and Ortho from Twisted Wonderland).
• I have the right to turn down a request if it goes against the rules I've set up, makes me uncomfortable, does not inspire me or if I feel that I'm not knowledgeable enough on the subject presented in the request.
• Please do not repost or claim any of my work to another website. I cross-post between Tumblr, Wattpad and Ao3, and you can find all of my links in my bio. However, if you do see someone reposting my work, please notify me. Thank you! Inspiration is okay, plagiarism is not.
• I have a zero patience policy with people who pester me to hurry up with writing their request. Know that behind the words, there's a human being with a regular job, a home business, housework, a family and other hobbies.
• I tend to write with a more mature audience in mind. That being said, adult topics, 18+ content and potentially triggering topics may be delved into. Each story comes with its summary, tags and warnings, so please read accordingly and you use your judgement. You are responsible for the content you consume, not me. No worries, however, plenty of Rated E stories will be up.
Tumblr media
💕Available Fandoms
The list is subject to change. Some fandoms may be added, and some may be removed if I fall out of them. Announcements will be posted if a new fandom is added or if I’m redacting one.
• Obey Me! • Twisted Wonderland
• Hazbin Hotel
• Helluva Boss
Tumblr media
✔️I Will Do
• Female!Reader OR GN!Reader - My preference and default lies with a female point of view. I do write using you/your pronouns, so nearly all of my stuff can be read as GN by default unless explicitly stated that the reader character is female.
• Romantic Relationships - Self-explanatory.
• Platonic Relationships - Self-explanatory.
• AUs - I'm open to any AU suggestion you may have. Soulmate AUs, for example, should be specified what type of gimmick you'd like, as there are a lot out there.
•Song-Based Stories - I won't write a songfic as I don't find those appealing. I'm not a fan of padding a story with lyrics. However, music can be a huge inspiration, so if you have a song you'd like a story built around, let me know. Note that I may ignore your request if the song doesn't get the creative juices flowing for me.
• Angst, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, etc - I'm open to pretty much any genre.
• Poly Relationships - I’m not the best at portraying them, but I’ll do my best!
• NSFW - Smut is very much allowed on this blog. I'm very open to many things when it comes to smut, so it'd be easier to just tell you what I won't do for smut in the following section. Requesting smut should be treated the same way as a SFW piece, so give me details. Location? Any particular events leading to the smut? Any particular kinks?
• Crossovers - If you would like the reader character to be based off of another video game or anime character/universe, I’m down! Example: An MC that has Katsuki Bakugou’s quirk, or an MC that has pokémon.
• Non-human!Reader - If you’d like the reader to be not fully human, go ahead! Vampire? Demigod? Kemonomimi?? Part dragon?! The list is endless, so go wild!
Tumblr media
❌ I Will Not Do
• Male!Reader - This is not meant to be discriminatory in any way; I'm just not very comfortable or good at writing a Male!Reader point of view.
• OCs or Canon X Canon - If you’ve been reading, you can see that this is a reader insert blog.
• Yandere - I know that yanderes are popular in the fandom, but I cannot bring myself to write that particular dere archetype. I can't put into words my disdain for the archetype.
• Non-Con - I'm not really into writing dark content for reader inserts. Note that this rule is for some form of graphic non-con depiction or fetishization. If your request is along the lines of X Character with an S/O that's an assault survivor, then that's fine. In other words, I don't want to fetishize non-con.
• Underage Romance or NSFW - Self-explanatory
• Incest - No.
• Hardcore Gore - Self-Explanatory. Blood and violence is fine in itself. I'm just asking to not cross the boundaries of gore porn, ya know?
• Certain Fetishes:
~Emetophilia
~ Scatophilia
~ Vore
~ Inflation
~ Feeding
~ Stuffing
~ Necrophilia
~ Non-consensual sex
~ CNC (I might? Depends on my mood)
~ Piss
~ Foot fetish
~ Pet play
~ Ageplay (I can let the term 'Daddy' slide, though I'm not fond of it. I just don't want to write characters acting like children in a sexual scenario.)
(Note that there may be more added to the list later on. These are the ones I could think off the top of my head.)
Tumblr media

Six month update on the Decision Time plan
Boy, things were going okay, right up until things fell off the rails.
I actually got four of the six things done.
I bought a food liquidiser. It’s a motor with three attachments, a whisk, a hand-held blender and a bowl for blending. They all go brrr. I successfully made soup and liquidised it for eating.
I bought a set of hair clippers, so I can cut my own hair. It takes a while and I actually need to use three different clippers to get it all even, so I don’t cut it very often. But I can do it myself and it looks okay.
I bought a treadmill. It was very Chinese. The instruction manual was in English but mentioned pairing the treadmill with WeChat, which you can’t get in the UK. At least I don’t think you can. Unfortunately, the treadmill didn’t work out. Being a cheap model, it wasn’t really designed to be used a lot (or maybe at all). To stop from falling apart very quickly, it switched itself off after 40 minutes of use. That’s a bit annoying when you want to walk for an hour straight so you know exactly how far you walked. So I sent it back. The 40-minute limit wasn’t mentioned in its listing or the manual, so at least I got a refund by calling it defective. I have not yet purchased a replacement.
Therapy was completed successfully. Sort of. How does one ‘complete’ therapy? By going to the therapist with only one problem and seeking to solve it. And I got half an answer. Basically, when people at work are stupid, I have to remind myself that I can’t force them to change, my job is to advise them and they are allowed to ignore me. Which is technically correct but also infuriating in its own way. That was accomplished in two sessions with the therapist. I have not spoken to them since.
Next up, certification. I found a well-respected course to do, looked through their website, did a practice piece and then priced up the course. £700. At least. The course is split over three modules, and each has two prices. One with membership to the site and one without. Naturally, the without membership is more expensive, and the cost of being a member is high. It works out cheaper to buy membership and do all three courses. And only marginally to try one course, buy membership then do the other two at a discount. All for a certificate, a line on my CV. I decided it wasn’t worth it.
So that leaves us with writing the book. That’s where things went properly sideways. At the start of the year, I had work at my house done that needed scaffolding. The work was done in a day. The scaffolding was up for a month and a half. I couldn’t open two of my windows, it blocked access around my house, it was an eyesore. It took many phone calls and emails to a) get someone to tell me what the problem was and b) get people out to actually take it away. But it was taken away, and I felt the stress leaving me and I was better, for a few hours. The same day, work announced that there were going to be redundancies, and was going to be one of them.
Getting told your company doesn’t want you around anymore is tough to take. That night I bought myself so comfort food, a box of grease in the form of a pizza. Then started a very long process. Because of the amount of people being made redundant, 40 from a pool of 80, from a company of ~200, they split up those facing redundancy into teams and asked for volunteers to represent each team. Because I’m a bit of a control freak, I volunteered. So for a month, twice a week, there would be meetings, questions, responses, write ups and spreading the news to my team. A lot of people were stressing out due to the selection process. When six people had the same job title and only two were being asked to go, you couldn’t just arbitrarily pick someone. There was a formal scoring process that had to be proposed, approved and carried out with plenty of oversight to ensure fairness. They were being stack racked by another name. I, meanwhile, wasn’t subject to scoring. I was a 1 of 1. The only proofreader in the company, so the only proofreader up for redundancy. Their plan was that at the end of the month, I would be gone... unless I came up with an alternative. So I wrote up a pitch and gave it to the HR. It was, basically, “you need me, here’s a list of crap that was written and everyone but me didn’t notice”. HR agreed that I was needed. Though, my utilisation was down. I spent a lot of time being paid to wait in case I was given something to do. So it was agreed that my hours would be reduced, I was going part time until things picked up again. Contract amendments were signed and I still had a job. Half a job, at least. At the end of the month, a lot of people were gone. Many of the 1 of 1s like me volunteered quick so they could look for a new job. In the two of six pools, various people volunteered, enough that no more people with those job titles needed to go, so that very little scoring needed to happen. In the end, only eight people had to be told to go. That’s the best thing you can say about it.
What happens when you’re switched to half-time hours? Well, you do two things. First, you try advertising yourself as a freelancer to fill the time (did you see my An Ad For Myself post?) The second is panic. The company had just been through a massive turmoil, everyone was feeling bad and I was now needing to get enough actual work in my part-time hours so as not to be made fully redundant. Yes, that was still an option. Which meant I was reliant on others in the company who were historically very bad at organising to be organised enough to give me things to do. I was freaking out. It took a few weeks, but things started picking up and things are looking up. I’m on a trajectory to get back to full-time hours in a little bit of time, another month or two.
But, all that was incredibly stressful. So stressful I haven’t done any writing for ages. I think I’m getting to the stage where I can again, soon. There’s still six months in the year. I could get the book done.
We’ll see.

Podcast: Surcease
Episode Count: 15 episodes, 1 bonus episode, and a blooper episode.
Last update: Season 1 finished this year and they released bloopers in October of this year. Season 2 is being worked on, as far as I know, but it will be some time before it’s released. I also believe there are more bonus episodes to come during the interim.
Brief Synopsis taken directly from various websites: “Surcease is a weekly, queer, horror anthology podcast in which… Ellias Short has been put on the task to digitize current patient files of the inhabitants of Sunshine Valley Mental Institution, and to his dismay, he is forced to work with none other than Kairo Timor, the newcomer who stole his dream job from right under his nose. As the piles of casefiles stack up, and the more mysterious disappearances happen at Sunshine Valley, they start to wonder if everything is as it seems? Or they have just gone mad”
Star rating: 2.5 out 5 stars.
TL;DR: It’s a short enough show right now where I’d say give it a shot if the trailers interest you, but I won’t recommend it to people. Ultimately I feel like it’s held back by its format and its premise of being set in a mental institution. Also cannot get over its ridiculous references to drug use. Hopefully season 2 gets better, but I’m not inclined to find out unless something changes.
Full review after read more.
Okay, so first of all, I have to start by saying I’m a queer, disabled, autistic woman who loves horror, especially horror podcasts, and so I went into listening to this show with a lot of hope and even more excitement. The trailer had seemed interesting, the cover art was fun, and the name was intriguing. I even joined the discord server partway through to get more insight onto the show and everyone involved seems extremely nice.
That being said, the show ended up being not as good as I hoped. To start off with, the premise itself, which I was cautious about but optimistic, doesn’t really utilize the setting of a mental hospital in a way where I feel like it adds a ton to the story. I feel like several of the stories would be better suited outside of it. I think it probably would have been better suited by having more of these be interviews with patients instead of Ellias recording statements on his own as the majority of the episodes with a few written statements thrown in for the things that don’t work as interviews.
But also, speaking of content, we kind of have some issues with that. There are some solid horror episodes, like the first one with the cursed piano, but then we get others where it just feels like I’m being told a sad story more than a horror story. And then we get stuff like The Midnight Savage and Hand Tied. Any time drug use and drug users are mentioned in this show, it’s uhhhh…not great? The Midnight Savage (which, not a great name) has one of the few interviews in the show and Jessie isn’t written kindly. She comes across more as a cartoon character of a homeless junkie than anything else. Also the episode kind of reads like a really bad DARE after school special. “This homeless slut did LSD and then she became a cannibal! More at 11.” Although still not as bizarre, and nowhere near as funny, as Hand Tied.
Hand Tied has a character who claims it’s no surprise he was a drug addict because his parents were drug addicts. And then the person says they were smoking weed or doing cocaine basically every day. And first of all, that’s not necessarily how drug use even works. Plenty of people I know avoid certain substances BECAUSE their parents were addicts. Also, second of all, how rich was this character? That’s not a cheap thing to do.
Those slightly nit picky things aside, we then get to the meat of the episode where he wakes up to free cocaine (thank you, cocaine demon) and I had to pause the episode to laugh. That’s not scary. That’s just neat. Thank your demon, snort the coke, and move on. And then they wake up INJECTING themselves with meth. Injecting. Meth. Like, I’m sorry, you CAN TECHNICALLY inject meth, but I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. They almost exclusively smoke it. It also is, once again, an episode that comes across as a weird after school drug special. Maybe meth is handled differently in Denmark, but even if it is, it just reads as funny instead of horror until it escalates to a knife. It’s also the second episode of the season where a person’s body acts on its own accord. I’m not saying you can’t do that, but if you’re going to repeat a horror technique that quickly, you gotta go hard on it.
I’ve been a little mean, so let’s back up. The characters themselves are compelling, even if I do hate Ellias and want him to suffer. The patients all seem like diverse characters. There’s a lot of fun details amongst them and I did care about the patients through most of the statements. And chances are Ellias will become less of an insufferable brat over time. Character growth and all of that. And by the end of the show they start to have character growth, although Ellias does tell Kairo twice that he hates him only for Kairo to be like ‘I didn’t know that’. It isn’t a huge mistake, but it is something that I noticed while binging the show.
And so with these characters, we get to the most important part of any podcast which is sound. The audio quality sounded really good in my headphones. I also liked the added sound effects and foley of the episodes, although I wish there was more of it. The problem is that, while Ellias’ actor does a good job, it frequently comes across as…lacking a horror element to it. I think the performance could use either some unsettling audio backing it or a shift in tone to stop it from coming across as ‘guy being forced to read a statement for his job but he’s professional about it’.
And all of this was going to get me to rate it a 3.5 until I got to the bonus episode of the show. The Midnight Ballerina where a random guy comes in to joke about a patient and then it’s revealed to basically be an ad for The Cellar Letters. And that’s when I left the discord channel and unsubscribed. If I’d known it was an ad, let alone an ad for that show, I would have skipped it entirely.
All in all, I’m giving this 2.5 stars. Everyone seems like they care a lot and they seem to have had fun with the show, but it has a ways to go and it’s definitely not a guaranteed satisfying substitute for a show like The Magnus Archives. So give it a listen. People in the discord server seemed to be really into it, so maybe I’m just extremely judgmental. But then again, I did choose ‘judgy bitch’ as my account name for a reason.

How to Prepare for an Interview: A Step-by-Step Guide
Tumblr media
9 essential steps to prepare for a job interview Once you’ve aced your pre-screen phone call from the HR department and landed an interview, put in the time to get ready for it. Here are some job interview tips to help you succeed in the process and hopefully, get the job you are vying for.   1. Do your research One of the easiest ways to stand out in a competitive job market is to gird yourself with plenty of research. Check out the company’s websites and social media accounts, and do some recon on the people you’ll be interviewing with (LinkedIn is a good place to start). Next, learn about the company’s competitors, how it differentiates itself in the marketplace and what former team members have to say about working there. Annual reports, press releases and company review sites like Glassdoor will help guide you. You’ll also want to spend some time thinking about how you fit into the picture. Craft a powerful message about why you’re the absolute best person for this job, and practice reciting it before your interview.   2. Consider why you want the job This may sound cheesy, but knowing your “why” is absolutely critical for getting the job you want. Take a moment to jot down a mission statement for your career, and how it aligns with the position you’re applying for. It’s worth practicing this “spiel” before your interview, but it’s even better to carry it around in your heart. Again, if all this sounds hokey, rest assured that, if nothing else, you’re sussing out whether or not this job is truly a good fit. And if you’re struggling to find alignment, you’ll know that it’s probably time to look for another position.   3. Analyze your strengths and weaknesses This is one portion of the interview you can almost always count on — and the old, “my weakness is that I work too hard,” just doesn’t cut it anymore. It can be tempting to fudge your answer, but exposing your vulnerabilities isn’t always a bad thing. Especially if you can use a past experience to show how you’ve grown, and how you’re actively engaging in self-improvement. The same goes for your strengths. Be prepared to discuss them — and maybe even boast a little. (Bonus points if you can find a way to pepper in any certifications or other professional development opportunities you’ve undertaken.) Be sure, though, to temper that with insight on how these strengths are relevant to the job you’re applying for.   4. Anticipate common interview questions A quick Google search can help you drum up some common interview questions to help you prepare. The blog sections of job hiring sites like ZipRecruiter are another good resource. You’ll know what exact questions your interviewer is going to ask, but thinking about how you’d respond to some of the most common ones will go a long way. Those include: Can you tell me about yourself? Do you work better in a team or on your own? What are your salary expectations? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Why do you want to work for this company? Why are you the best candidate for this position? Where do you see yourself X years from now? What are your salary expectations? What motivates you? Can you tell me about a failure you experienced with a previous employer? How did you handle it?   5. Prepare your own questions You are interviewing this company just as much as they are interviewing you. Create a list of questions that will help you understand what the culture is like, and whether the role is a good fit for you. Here are a few options: What are the expectations for my role and my productivity? How would you describe the company culture? What are you looking for in a candidate? How would you measure the success of the person in this role? What are some challenges I could expect in this role?   6. Watch your body language Body language is a reflection of your attitude. Practice speaking into a mirror to get a sense of how your mood, words and demeanor might come across to an interviewer. You can take this a step further and record yourself. Rewatch the video and — even if it’s painful — send it to friends and family for feedback. Or ask your spouse, roommate or BFF to do a couple interview run-throughs, where they play the part of “interviewer” and, when you’re finished, give you some constructive criticism about how you did.   7. Dress for success Consider wearing business attire for your interview, even if the company has adopted a more “business casual” environment. This isn’t about suppressing your personality or style, but rather, reducing distractions so that your skills and experience are the main focus of the interview. Once you’re hired, you’ll have a bit more freedom to experiment with style.   8. Practice with mock interviews Ask friends or family to do a “dress rehearsal” of the interview process from beginning to end. Or, if that gives you the heebie-jeebies, hire a professional career coach to do the same. Budget permitting, this is a great way to get professional-level feedback from someone intimately familiar with the hiring process. To make the most of your mock interview, choose a location that isn’t familiar to you, like a local coffee shop. Ideally, you’ll wear the same clothes and conduct the rehearsal around the same time of day as your anticipated interview. Be sure to ask for feedback, and repeat the process for as many rounds as you need to feel confident in your interviewing skills.   9. Bring copies of your resume Always have copies of your resume on stand-by. You’ll probably be interviewing with a number of people at the same time — make their life easier, and save them a run to the printer, by having your resume within reach. This advice applies to video interviews, too. Before the interview begins, be ready with a link to your resume you can drop into the chat at a moment’s notice.     How to Prepare for an Interview FAQs How can I research the company I'm interviewing with? Start by exploring its official website and social media to understand their products, mission and values. Skim through some of the company's annual reports, as well as its employee reviews on Glassdoor, to get insight. How can I prepare for different types of interviews? Interviews can have different formats and focuses depending on the role and company. For behavioral interviews, prepare examples from your past experiences that demonstrate your skills and abilities in various situations. Technical interviews will test you on specific hard skills that are required for the role, while case interviews require analyzing and solving practice case studies. What are some effective techniques for managing nerves and stress during the interview process? Nervousness is natural, and interviewers often understand that candidates may be anxious. Consider practicing deep breathing techniques before and during the interview to help calm your nerves. Prepare thoroughly and visualize yourself succeeding in the interview beforehand to boost your confidence. How can I ensure my appearance is professional and appropriate? Research the company's dress code and choose an outfit that aligns with their culture. When in doubt, it's better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed. It's usually best to opt for conservative and modest attire that isn't distracting or revealing. Make sure your hair, facial hair (if applicable), and nails are well-groomed and clean.   Additional tips for video and phone interviews Since many interviews are conducted online these days, we think it’s helpful to add tips just for your video interview. These tips can also be used in case you have a phone interview. Reduce or eliminate distractions Get rid of all background clutter and noise. Interview in front of an empty wall or otherwise very neat space if possible. If you’ll have a crying baby or a barking dog around, explain to your interviewers in case there’s no way to move to another space. Have the ideal setup Make sure you have great lighting and exceptional audio. Consider purchasing a ring light and a good pair of earbuds so there are no echoes or problems seeing your face clearly. If you’ll be using a phone for the video feed, make sure it’s on a stable surface or a tripod to keep it from shaking. Test your setup Most video platforms will let you test your audio and video set-up beforehand. Arrive at your workstation early so you can prepare accordingly. Once you’re live, be sure to greet your interview panel with a smile. Avoid filler words when speaking Using words like “um” or “like” excessively can make you appear nervous or unprepared, so try to avoid them. Varying your tone can help you convey interest — and the fact that you’re actually paying attention — to your interviewer.   What to do after your interview Always follow up with a thank you email (or emails, if you interviewed with multiple people). No matter the outcome, be sure to keep your interview skills fresh and your cover letters ready. The more you practice, the quicker you’ll get the job offer of your dreams. Summary of Money’s Guide on How to Prepare for an Interview Do your research – Leverage social media and platforms like Linkedin to look into the company and who you’re interviewing with. Consider why this job appeals to you – Think deeply about whether you’ll actually be content in the position you’re applying for. Analyze your strengths and weaknesses – This is a tried and true interview question, so be ready with a well-thought out answer that’s both honest and tailored to the position. Anticipate common interview questions – You don’t need perfect answers to every question, but having a sense of what sorts of questions may be thrown at you will help you feel calmer and better prepared. Prepare your own set of questions – There’s usually time baked into every interview for candidates to ask their own questions. Think about what’s important to you and fire away. Watch your body language – Practicing in front of a mirror can make a world of difference. Practice with mock interviews – Most people feel more confident after they’ve gone through a few “dress rehearsals” with friends or family members. Dress for success – First impressions matter, so put your best foot forward with your appearance. Bring copies of your resume – It makes everybody’s life easier if you come prepared with extra hard copies (or have a link at the ready if it’s a video chat). Additional tips for video interviews – Video interviews have risen alongside remote work, and they often require some extra prepwork. What to do after your interview – Send a thank you note to the interviewer/s, to leave a great impression.   Read the full article

Title: Fake Profile Review: A Rollercoaster Ride of Surprises, Steamy Twists, and Plenty of Chaos! Get Ready to Buckle Up! Fake Profile Review: A Rollercoaster Ride of Surprises, Steamy Twists, and Plenty of Chaos! Get Ready to Buckle Up! Are you tired of swiping left on dating apps only to end up with a handful of fake profiles? You're not alone. Fake profiles on dating apps have become a common phenomenon in recent years, and it's not just limited to dating apps. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are also grappling with the same problem. In this article, we will explore the world of fake profiles, their impact on users, and how to identify and avoid them. What Are Fake Profiles? Fake profiles are accounts created with the intention of deceiving others. These profiles are often created using stolen photos and information from real people with the aim of scamming others for financial gain, collecting personal data, or simply for entertainment. The Impact of Fake Profiles on Users The impact of fake profiles can be significant. Users may be lured into communicating with fake profiles with the intention of meeting them in person, only to find out that the person they were speaking to was not who they claimed to be. This can lead to emotional distress, financial loss, and in some extreme cases, physical danger. How to Identify Fake Profiles Identifying fake profiles requires some effort and attention to detail. Here are a few tips to help you spot a fake profile: Check the profile picture Fake profiles often use pictures of celebrities or models. You can use a reverse image search tool to see if the picture is being used on other websites. Look for inconsistencies in the profile Pay attention to the details in the profile. If the profile information seems too perfect, it's likely that the profile is fake. For example, if the person claims to have a perfect job, be financially stable, and have a lavish lifestyle, this should be a red flag. Watch for requests for money or personal information Fake profiles may ask for money or personal information. Be cautious when dealing with any requests, especially if the request seems unusual or out of place. How to Avoid Fake Profiles Avoiding fake profiles starts with being cautious when using dating apps and other social media platforms. Be cautious of anyone who asks for personal information such as bank information, social security number, or home address. Trust your gut If something seems off about the person or the conversation, don't ignore your instincts. Trust your gut and walk away if something doesn't feel right. The Bottom Line Fake profiles are a growing concern on dating apps and social media platforms. While it's impossible to completely eliminate the risks, users can take steps to protect themselves. By being cautious and vigilant, users can avoid scams and potential danger. FAQs 1. What should I do if I think I've been scammed by a fake profile? If you believe you've been scammed by a fake profile, report it to the platform where you encountered the profile. You can also report the profile to law enforcement. 2. Can fake profiles be harmful? Yes, fake profiles can be harmful. They can lead to emotional distress, financial loss, and in some cases, physical harm. 3. Are dating apps doing enough to combat fake profiles? Dating apps are taking steps to combat fake profiles by implementing AI and machine learning algorithms. However, there is still work to be done to completely prevent the creation of fake profiles. 4. How can I protect myself from fake profiles? Protect yourself by being cautious and vigilant when using dating apps or social media platforms. Do your research, don't share personal information, and trust your instincts. 5. Decking 101: A Comprehensive Guide to Hiring a Builder
If you're looking to add a deck to your home, there's no doubt that you've come across the term "builder" in relation to this project. This can be overwhelming for those who are new to the world of building, as it doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as it would in other contexts.
This guide will help you understand what a Top Deck Builder is and how they work so that you can hire one without any issues!
Identifying Your Needs
Identifying your needs is the first step to hiring a builder. You may want to consider a few things:
What do you want your deck to do? Is it going to be used for entertaining and hosting parties, or is it just meant for relaxing with family and friends? This will help determine what kind of materials are best suited for your project.
Are there any restrictions on where or how high up off the ground a deck can go? If so, make sure these limitations are understood before moving forward with any plans.
Researching Deck Builders
Before you start looking for a deck builder, it's important to have a good idea of what type of deck you want. If you already know what kind of decking material you want, such as cedar or composite lumber, then that will narrow down your options considerably.
If your budget is limited, consider whether it makes sense to hire someone else to do the work or if it would be more cost-effective to buy materials yourself.
Many people find themselves in this situation because they don't realise how much labour goes into building a new deck until they start shopping around and getting estimates from contractors--and even then, they may not fully grasp how much time and effort goes into planning each project before any actual construction takes place!
Tumblr media
Getting Multiple Quotes
The first thing to do is ask for a quote that includes the cost of materials, labour and any permits required. If you're looking for a deck builder-wide, check out online websites to get reviews from previous customers.
If you want to hire an established contractor with good reviews, this can be helpful when comparing quotes: ask them how long they've been in business and how many decks they've built before yours.
You may also want to get references from previous clients so that you can talk with them directly about their experiences working with your potential contractor!
Once you've found some builders who seem like great fits for what you need (and taken into account other factors such as price), make sure they provide detailed breakdowns of their pricing structure before giving them an official quote on building your new deck.
Communicating with your deck Builder
Communication is key when hiring a builder. You want to make sure that you are clear on your needs and expectations while making sure the builder is available to answer your questions.
Ask questions if there's something you don't understand or need more information about. If the cost seems high, ask for an explanation of why it costs so much (e.g., materials being used).
Make sure they have references from previous clients in case there are any issues with the job after it's completed (this should be included as part of their estimate).
Conclusion
We hope this guide has helped you better understand the process of hiring a deck builder-wide. If you're still unsure about which route is best for your project, don't hesitate to ask questions!
There are plenty of people out there who are happy to lend their expertise and help answer any questions that arise during this process.

Senior Caregivers Can Benefit From Picking Up Part-Time Work. Here's How!
Tumblr media
Are you a senior caregiver? If so, you may have considered picking up a part-time job to supplement your income. While there are pros and cons to taking on a second job, there are many benefits to be had if you choose the right side gig. With a little planning and some creative thinking, you can easily turn your spare time into extra cash! Today, OtownGist Media invites you to keep reading to learn more about choosing the ideal side job and making the most of your spare time. Choosing the Ideal Side Job One of the most important things to consider when choosing a side job is whether or not it will be compatible with your caregiving duties. For example, if you are a live-in caregiver, it may not be feasible to take on a second job that requires you to be away from home for extended periods of time. However, there are plenty of other options available that can be done from the comfort of your own home. You could be a freelance writer, a tutor, a virtual assistant, a proofreader, a transcriber, you could open an online store – the options are endless! Planning a Side Business Strategy If you're thinking about starting your own business, there are a few things you'll need to do in order to get started. First, you'll need to come up with a business idea that is compatible with your schedule and fits well with your skillset. Once you've got an idea in mind, it's time to start planning your strategy. You'll need to create a business plan, set some goals, and determine how you will promote your business. Then, you’ll need to choose your business structure and file the appropriate paperwork to make things official. Design Your Own Brochures If you’re looking to expand your customer base, don’t settle for just spreading the word via social media. Instead, expand on such efforts with more old-fashioned approaches like putting out brochures. This is a great method for reflecting your brand identity and can serve as a tactile and highly persuasive supplement to your other marketing approaches. Just make sure you include updated contact info and plenty of high quality photos. Inexpensively Promoting a Second Job Promoting your side hustle can be intimidating, but with a well-thought out marketing strategy it doesn't have to be. Social media is a great way to get the word out about your services and products, as it allows you to strategically target an audience and build brand awareness quickly. SEO is also essential for ensuring your website and content are found in search engine results. Content marketing helps drive organic traffic to your website by providing users with valuable information, while word-of-mouth referrals still remain one of the most powerful tools for any business today. You can find out more about how to effectively market your business if you visit CornerstoneContent.com.  Tips for Making the Most of Your Spare Time Now that you've got everything set up and running smoothly, it's time to start making the most of your spare time! Here are a few tips to help you get started: - Schedule regular breaks throughout the day so that you can tend to your personal care needs and avoid burnout. - Find someone you trust who can cover for you if an emergency arises or if you need some time off. - Set aside some time each week to plan out your schedule for the upcoming week. This will help you stay organized and on track. - Make sure to communicate with your clients regularly so that they know what to expect from you and vice versa. - And last but not least, enjoy yourself! Don't forget why you decided to take on a second job in the first place – because you wanted to supplement your income and have some extra spending money! Keep Home Healthy Optimizing your home for health is especially crucial when you're a caregiver, as creating a nurturing environment can significantly impact both your well-being and that of those you care for. Integrating plants into your living space can improve air quality and elevate mood, while maximizing natural light helps regulate sleep patterns and boost vitamin D levels, contributing to overall health. Additionally, maintaining a stock of healthy foods ensures that nutritious options are always within reach, supporting a balanced diet. These simple yet effective changes can transform your home into a haven of health, providing a supportive and rejuvenating space that benefits both caregivers and their loved ones. Taking on a second job can be a great way to supplement your income as a senior caregiver. But it's important to choose the right gig and plan accordingly so that it doesn't interfere with your primary responsibilities. And don’t forget to file the paperwork to make things official. With a little bit of planning and some creative thinking, you can easily turn your spare time into extra cash! What Home Improvement Companies Should Expect From An Seo Agency
Have you been looking for a way to make your home improvement company stand out from the rest online? Does it feel like you’re falling behind the other contractors in your area? Practically every business in every industry needs digital marketing to be truly successful. The days of simply putting an ad in the yellow pages, at a bus stop, or something similar and having that be enough are long gone. At our SEO agency, we’ve helped plenty of home improvement companies to reach the next level and beyond.
Now, that doesn’t mean that your home improvement company needs to cease all forms of traditional marketing, far from it. Indeed, our CEO, Danny Star, speaks at great length in his book about traditional marketing (billboards, radio and TV spots, etc.) are all important, but not enough in and of themselves. That said, you don’t want to go with just any digital marketing agency. You want to work with one that can provide you with what you need.
Sets a Firm Foundation Digital marketing, SEO, and the like needs a firm foundation, somewhere to start from. For our home improvement companies, the first step is almost invariably audits. Specifically, we audit our home improvement clients, to see what’s working for them and what can be improved with what they’re already doing. With that info, we know what we can build on. We also do a thorough audit of their competition as well. So, through that, we can see what’s working for their competition, where they’re succeeding. By that same token, we can also see what your competition isn’t doing, what keywords you both want that they aren’t pursuing. That, then, shows where the “content gap” is. Next, our experienced SEO pros put together a strategy that targets your best keywords, including those that your competition isn’t ranking for.
That way, you give yourself the best chance to catch up to them and then pass them by. How long does this take? It sure doesn’t happen overnight. (Indeed, any agency that tells you it can is one that you should run from immediately). However, in a few months’ time, you should begin to see the kind of results that can help your home improvement company to grow.
Has the Right Tools for the Job
If you’re like so many of the contractors and home improvement pros that we work with, the odds are good that you have a team. Each has different specialties, each has a skill that makes for a successful project. The same is true of any agency that you work with. When you work with a digital marketing agency, you get the combined efforts of an entire team.
So, any agency that you work with should have experienced SEO strategists, folks with a proven track record. How can you tell? Check their portfolio. See what they’ve done. Just as someone would look at yours before they reach out to you, check an agency’s portfolio.
That said, any agency you work with should have more than just strategists. It should also have web designers, folks that have built websites in the past and know what yours needs. Graphic designers can make your website (as well as your social media, content marketing, and more) to fit your brand. Speaking of content, content marketing professionals are a must (that’s true for blogging, writing, video production, podcasting, social media, and everything else your company will need).
As with every other kind of job, the details are important. You want to work with an agency that understands on and off-page SEO, that can make your site responsive in the manner you need it to be. All of these are the basics, the bare minimum that you should expect from an agency.
Continued Maintenance Another service that so many of our home improvement company clients provide: routine maintenance. They don’t just perform their services and then leave the client forever. They can come back, make sure that everything is working as it should be, provide necessary improvements, head off potential problems before they worsen, and so forth. You should expect the same from your agency, too.
SEO isn’t a “one and done” kind of thing. Really, it’s ongoing. You’re always going to have competition. What makes an agency a great fit, often, is that they can scale the work to fit your company. For example, as our home improvement clients grow, we’re able to scale our services up so that we can help them to continue to do better and better. Should the opposite be necessary, we can do the same there as well.
You should work with an agency that, in all ways and in all things, puts together individualized services for your company. Beware the agency who “always knows what’s right for you,” and gives you some kind of “cookie-cutter” strategy that’s worked in the past. That’s the agency that isn’t really listening to you, that doesn’t have your best interests in mind.
Indeed, we always work with our clients to the extent they want to be worked with. Some of our clients want to be very “hands-on,” others just want us to come back to them with what we’ve done (or, of course, they’re in between those two). We tailor our services to our clients.

The Top 5 Tips For Finding The Perfect Babysitter (And How To Avoid Scams)
As parents, we all know that finding the perfect babysitter is essential. After all, who wants to deal with a screaming baby while they’re trying to get some work done? Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams out there targeting parents looking for quality childcare. Here are the top five tips for finding the perfect babysitter without getting scammed: 1. This means they may not be up to compliance with regulations and could be unsafe for your child. 3. Ask for references. It may sound strange, but asking for references from caregivers is a good way to screen them out. Not only will this reassure you that they’re qualified, but you can also ask specific questions about your child’s care (e.g., did they follow doctor’s orders?) and verify their identity (did they provide proper identification. babysitter Consider Your Reasons For needing a Babysitter Finding a babysitter can be tricky if you don't know where to start. This will help to ensure that both parties are aware of their obligations, and that any disputes can be resolved in a clear and concise manner. Second, be sure to ask the babysitter about her qualifications. Make sure to ask whether she has experience with young children, as well as whether she is certified or registered with the appropriate professional organization. Finally, make sure to pay your babysitter promptly. If something unexpected comes up and you have to reschedule your appointment, be sure to compensate your sitter for her time. Stay In Touch With Your Babysitter After They Leave There are a few things you can do to make sure you stay in touch with your babysitter after they leave. One way is to make a list of what you need and want from your babysitter while they're watching your child. This could include things like having them stay on schedule, providing snacks and drinks, making sure the child is entertained, and being available for any questions or concerns you may have. Another tip is to always have your phone ready in case there's an emergency. If something comes up that requires your babysitter to come over immediately, be sure to give them a call so they know what's going on. Finally, think about setting up some kind of communication system with your babysitter. This could include either text or email notifications if there's an issue with the babysitting service or if the child needs picked up early. This will help ensure that both you and the babysitter are clear about what's going on and that there are no misunderstandings along the way.

I know in this day and age we think Google can give us all the answers we need. But sometimes, it can leave us feeling more confused and divided with all the conflicting information. Who knows what to believe? It makes it difficult to know the answer to the search: Why Hire a Sleep Consultant?
The most common reasons I hear when people say they don’t need a sleep consultant is:
It’s too expensive
What can you offer that I can’t learn in a book or on a website?
I have plenty of family advice or I can figure this out on my own
The most common reason, understandably, being the cost and the idea that all knowledge can be found online.
Books are great. Google is great. But it’s not a real human guiding you and speaking directly to your personal situation. After working with a sleep consultant, you’ll be wondering why you waited.
It’s Too Expensive
You must ask yourself: Can you really put a price on sleep? If you are a working parent, getting enough sleep is directly tied to your work performance. Do you think sleep deprivation contributes to how well or how poorly you can do your job?
How much is a well-rested body and mind worth? The quality of your sleep impacts your mood, attitude, and even health. It may seem insignificant, but if your family is grumpy, short-tempered, and impatient because of lack of sleep, doesn’t that nighttime sleep (or lack thereof) spill over into affecting your awake hours?
How important is it for you to have a flow to your day that you can depend on? Predictability and routines that are the same each day and each night. Unpredictable sleep and feeding patterns can seriously upend your life when the lines of night and day get blurred. You’ll have trouble planning things in advance, checking things off your to-do list, or having any designated time for yourself or your spouse. With a sleep coach, you will come away with an invaluable education about all things related to babies and sleep. Plus the skills, and support that will serve you throughout your baby’s development and even apply to future children.
Your day will have routine, flow, and consistency and your nights will be restful.
You have to ask yourself, what is the value of peaceful nights, structured days, and ongoing support from an expert? Isn’t a well-rested family worth every penny! If you don’t believe me click here to hear from other families like you. If you truly are in a situation where a sleep package is just not possible please reach out to me here and I will come up with a custom option that works for your family.
I Can Find This On Google or Read a Book
The cost of a book may be a fraction of what a sleep consultation may cost, but a book is coming from a singular point of view. You may browse blogs, forums, and Facebook groups for more support, ideas, and methods- and end up with a lot of conflicting information.
This is where having an expert becomes an invaluable resource.
Aside from being a mom of 3 myself, I am a Certified Newborn Care Specialist and sleep coach. I have 12 years of experience working with newborns, babies, and toddlers, sleep shaping, and sleep training. I also have over 15,000 hours of in-home sleep shaping experience with newborns and have worked virtually with hundreds of families. All that to say, hiring me means you are hiring a highly qualified sleep coach to guide you on your journey to creating an independent sleeper. I will work alongside you, as your Baby and Sleep Training Expert to help direct and guide you through one of the most joyous, but often overwhelming, times in your life.
My cumulative knowledge and experience can’t be found on a webpage or in a Reddit thread. Plus, you can be sure you are doing it the right way, for YOUR baby, with me there to help you navigate every step of the way.
Gain peace of mind! Invest in something far more personalized and comprehensive than a book or a blog.
I Can Do This On My Own or Take Family’s Advice
Yes. You can absolutely listen to your mom, grandma, sister, in-laws, cute old ladies at church, and friends’ advice. Much of it comes from battle-tested experience!
When you have a new baby, everyone wants to offer advice and helpful hints. That’s great! But, with your baby, family, and household comes a unique set of circumstances that isn’t like anyone else’s.
They may have valuable insight, it may actually help, for a while- and if it does, that’s amazing!
However, if you still find yourself searching the internet at 2 am asking, “Why won’t my baby sleep?” or you keep telling yourself I can do this on my own, you may need advice specifically tailored to your baby.
We all say things like, “Sleep deprivation is just part of the deal, right?” and try to convince ourselves it’s normal. But I’m here to gently remind you that a baby that sleeps through the night and has healthy sleeping habits can ALSO be normal.
You don’t have to justify your suffering.
Each child is unique and what worked for one mom, may not work for you. That’s okay! You are still a good parent if your child isn’t sleeping well. But I know that understanding still doesn’t solve your problem!
Usually, clients have already tried these routes. The books, the Googling, the advice from friends and family. Those routes just didn’t give them success. The reason behind that is simple.
The advice wasn’t tailored to their baby
With a sleep coach, you can get individual advice, tailored to your specific situation. You also get encouragement to stay the course and help to get back on track when you hit the bumps in the road that inevitably come.
With every virtual consultation, you get time-tested, expert advice — I listen to the specific needs and unique challenges you are currently facing with your baby. Then I provide a step-by-step plan that includes sleep training education, printable resources, video training, and AMPLE follow-up support to ensure you WIN at this whole sleep thing! If you’re ready to make the investment that keeps on giving click here and let’s connect!
What if Sleep Training Doesn’t Work? How to Encourage Independent Play (and carve out time for yourself at the same time!) This is THE Key to Successful Sleep Training

Studio Visit with Tamara Johnson (February 9th, 2023)
Hello blog! Today I am documenting my studio visit with Tamara Johnson, an artist from Waco Texas, home of the Dr. Pepper. Johnson is Washington University’s 2023 Freud Fellow. She received her BFA at the University of Texas in Austin (lit) and earned her MFA in sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design (slay). After completing her degree at RISD, she did the dang thing by moving to New York ***** City!!! She stayed for 6 years, working under Robert Gober, an American sculptor manipulating familiar and domestic objects to explore ideas surrounding sexuality, religion, and politics. She then left NYC to start Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, extending her practice to a one acre lot in West Dallas that supplies space for experimental, large-scale outdoor projects.
One of my favorite things Tamara said after her impressive biography was rattled off, was that it "sounds way more concise and upbeat than it was". There were plenty of years of depression. Being an artist has so many peaks and valleys, there are so many challenges and so much rejection. You may send out twelve applications and only get one response, but that one just might be your next step.
“Everything you’re doing is moving you forward.”
Other great advice she poured out....
there is power in 3’s. It normally takes 3 months to get in the flow of a new job, but it takes 3 years to get really settled into it.
“You will always have time and money for the things that you really care about”
Once you leave art school, its a different form of creating. Soak up this experience and make work to impress your peers in the program.
You can Invent Time— DRAG YOUR BODY TO THE STUDIO.
Dont get jaded.
There is no one way to do it, carve your own path
So- for the blog I figured I would ask to do a quick interview and practice SPEAKING...if Tamara doesn’t mind. I’d love to ask a few questions. To be continued....
When you got the idea about your sculpture park Sweet Pass Sculpture, what was the next move you made? Did you start sketching, researching? How did you go about starting a project of such a size without getting overwhelmed by just the idea?
What is your one piece of advice for someone reading who wants to move to New York to deepen their art practice?
What is your favorite studio ALBUM to lose yourself creating to?
Below I have attached some photos from Johnson's work, sourced from her website.
