Part 2 with da angst

2: Young Ranbob did not understand at all what was going on, infact he refused to believe he ever had anything to do with the sabotages, it was only when Dream took over completely and gave Ranbob enough of his mind to know what he was doing, did he finally accept it. He tried and tried to break Dreams control and get control of his body back, but nothing he did ever really worked, and the more he tried Dream eventually began to punish him, forcing him to stop. He felt aboustely awful, like a failure, a murder, and just a shitty person during all of this. His journal shows basically all of his mental decline, it went from normal, him recording special things during the day, to semi-normal, him expression concern and fear over the sabotages and killings (with some out of place words or sentences here and there appearing half way through, showing Dreams presence), to recordings from someone with obvious mental distress (misspelled words, extreme fear, showing fear of himself, hasty writings and drawings, very obviously out of place sentences (their neater than the rest and written differently, written by Dream), and meaningless words and sentences, obviously trying to say something but not knowing how too), all they way to flipping entries of when Ranbob is in control (sadness, despair, hasitly done, regret, and just heavy sentences) to when Dream is in control (Neat writing, stating "facts", showing a level of glee). Ranbob does still have it, he actually still uses it to record what happens in the groups and how far he's come. To the Gladiators its more of a "Hey I found this thing, lets read this thing." "No let's not read the thing." "Im going to ignore you and read it anyway.". The pictures are from the current ruined state of the City of Mizu, and pictures showing Ranbob at the fishermens house, struggling to walk and even eat on his own, though a few are from before Dream ever got a hold of Ranbob. 

3: The way you just said "Causally drops some trauma on them, huh?" And "Traumatized gremlins" made me laugh so much. Its so accurate and made me just think of the brothers vibing toghere before I just pop in and drop tons of trauma on them before dipping. "Ah, damn, the opponent stared me in my chest." "WHY ARE YOU SO CALM ABOUT THIS!? YOUR BLEEDING OUT!" "Oh im used to this. Trust me I'll survive...probably." "RAN I SWEAR!". And "Ranbob when did you last eat?" "Uhhh, 2 days ago I think." "..." "D-did I eat too soon? I dont have to eat for another day or two max-" "Ranbob shut up and eat." "B-but-" "If you dont eat I'll tell Benjamin." "OK ok I'll eat."  Ran thinks its normal to get stabbed often, while Ranbob thinks its normal to only eat every 2 or 3 days, and to not sleep for a long time. There is one particular hunter that's been hunting him the longest, they go by Raq and are the most determined to get Ran, though they don't plan on killing him, but rather kidnapping him and exploting him for pearls. It was a bit hard at first, Ran kept having to leave to wander around the City for a bit, though he eventually successfully got accustomed to staying in one place, though he does sometimes wish he could travel again. 

4: A bit of everything, him getting violent and trying to run at first. But after that it fades more into what resembles a depressive state, with him refusing to move and crying while being lost in his head. He requires space to move around but be monitored in the first state, while for the second he needs constant comfort and physical contact. The aftermath was the fishermen and Jackie staying close to Ranbob for the next 2 days, while Grievous and Watson try to find Ran after he stormed off in anger and disbelief. Ran does know what a relapse means, but during the time he believes Ranbobs relapse might be something else (like his facade faulting maybe).

5: Not long at all, while Ran is carrying Jackie and Cletus makes fun of them as Ranbob is following him, Jackie quickly points out how Ranbob is like a lost puppy, and the same thing is basically happening to the two of them, but showed different ways. (The brothers making sure their family is safe by sticking close to them).

6: By the time they travel to Subbin, Ranbob has gained like 80 pounds and is a way more healthy weight and looks much more healthier than when the fishermen first found him. 

7: Their usually either getting materials, looking around the area/exploring, being taught things by someone, or sleeping. Charles was the one who revived the nickname! He called him that when trying different tactics to calm him down from a nightmare, Ranbob immediately froze and after a while started to cry, Charles panicked but Ranbob quickly comforted him, saying he just hasn't heard Bobby used in such a long time and brings back both incredibly happy and incredibly sad memories. And with permission, Charles starts using it more. Ran also freezes when hearing it, immediately going ridged and almost ripping a map he has in his hands, when asked by Grievous what was wrong, he just growled out nothing and moved on. Though he does mull over it later, conflicting emotions running all over him. 

8: Helping separate Ran and Ranbob was already big for the gladiators. As most people would just watch with glee. Then when they get time to talk and make the connection between Ran and Ranbob, they decide to make a exception and willingly put in effort to bond with the other group. Also them just naturally connecting made the bonding and trust easy between the groups. 

9: They do both! They keep some books, pictures, and other stuff, but sell others as relics. Ranbob mostly disapproves of them selling the items, but also knows it'll probably be best to sell them, and have them either spread the story of Mizu as a warning, or have the story of Mizu destroyed by assumptions and twisting of the story. 

10: I'm thinking maybe a Wilbur decendent is inhabiting a certain town, and when the groups stop in for a break, Wilbur decendant  houses them and listens to their story, and tries to help?

11: They mostly just find them, they either find them in book stores or ruined towns and cities (maybe I can put The Masquerade tale in here somewhere), a wide range of people, from scholars to plain history nerds, to books from during the time of the SMP itself to books written by seemingly no one. Ranbob finds some himself, mostly when exploring with the group. I think I misworded this! Dream is the one who compared Ranbobs journal to Ranboos memory book! Ranbob knows of Ranboos memory book but he himself doesn't see the connection. Ran feels all of the above. He is extremely ashamed and disappointed in himself for hurting his brother, he hugs him tightly and apologizes non-stop, promising to make it all up to him, and while he asks for forgiveness he also says he doesnt expect for his brother to forgive him. Once he finally sees Dream for real though he's the first one to blindly attack and try to kill em. Though he doesnt succeed. 

12: No one expect the brothers where outside in the rain when they fought. So no one knew of what was happening. Its only when Ran finally joined them, but alone, did they get scared and alarmed. And when Ran admits they got into a fight and Ranbob ran off, the fishermen immediately start yelling at Ran and run off to find Ranbob, screaming his name into the deafening thunder. Grievous follows them but Watson and Jackie hang back a bit, Jackie just looks at Ran with a heartbroken expression, tears in his eyes, and asks, with his voice shaking and laced with sadness, "Why can't you at least try to accept him, you dont have to like or forgive him, but why can't you just let him heal?" "Jackie..you dont know what's he done-" "I do know! And I'm willing to help him change and recover! You can't and your his brother! What kind of family member are you?" Ran tries to respond but Jackie just chokes and shakes his head at him, running off to follow the others. Watson then speaks up, simply saying "Mate, your doing more than hurting Ranbob at this point." Before running off to follow and join the others. Ran feels horrible, even before being confronted he so badly wanted to chase after Ranbob, but was to scared too and he constantly was trying to reassure himself that he did the right thing, but no matter what, he couldn't convince himself that was the truth. And after the confrontation, Ran is taking what was said to heart and also considering running away, leaving the group behind and sparing them of all the pain he believes he causes, believing that he's just as bad a family member as Ranbob was. But he doesnt, because he feels like he absolutely needs to talk to his brother and everyone else. 

2: Oh god. Poor Ranbob. He really went through it. It does make me wonder, did anyone notice something was up? His mentor? Parents? Friends? Speaking off, what was his relationship with them all? From what I know, he seemed to be under a lot of pressure, so how did that effect things, and how did Dream’s presence change that? And uh, gladiators reactions to reading the diary? Also, did they get caught reading it, or? And how did everyone in general react to the pictures? The fishermen may have taken the latter, but how did they feel about seeing Ranbob before Dream came into the picture?

3: I tell it like it is, glad to hear it’s made you laugh though. And uh, oh boy. On one hand, I definitely shouldn’t laugh at stabbing and possible starvation. One the other. Ran’s reaction. Ranbob being threatened with Benjamin. Is he often threatened with Benjamin? What exactly happens if Benjamin is told? Will Raq be causing future problems? Is Ran happy to be on the road again?

4: That sucks. Did the gladiators witness it first hand, or did the fishermen kind of realize what was happening and split off for a bit? Reactions to either seeing or hearing this happen?

5: Ranbob’s reaction to this? Heck, all of the fishermen’s reactions?

6: As he should. If he ever starts looking even slightly thin again, Benjamin needs to jump into immediate action! Also, give him a blanket and warm drink, please? Please, he needs it, they all do. 

7: So not too bad, that’s good. Charles was the one, huh? Interesting. Does Ranbob like having it back? And conflicting emotions, hmm? What would those emotions be? Does anyone ever notice the nickname makes him mad? 

8: So the gladiators consider that their big approval? Why’s that? Like obviously, they helped break it up, but was it something particular? Did they get between the two? Jump into the arena? What?

9: A warning of Mizu...there’s something awfully tragic about that. 

10: Sounds interesting! In what way would they be able to help? 

11: Scattered about, hm? So Ranbob knows about Ranboo’s memory book? Did Dream tell him, or did Mizu have a copy, or? And yay, Ranbob finally gets a hug! Most wonderful! Sad Ran doesn’t succeed in murder, but meh. Always next time, I suppose.

Kaz

1. How I feel about this character

love him to bits. he really left an impression on me for some reason, even tho ive read plenty of characters before who are characterized as assholes-with-a-heart-of-gold, he just felt different to me. i think its because despite his tragic backstory, his assholey-ness was very unapologetic, which I liked, lol. and speaking of tragic backstories, oh my god his really hit. like, the imagery of little kaz fighting for his life on his brother’s corpse, and how that experience later formed into the near debilitating phobia of touch for him, broke my heart. it absolutely crushed me but also made me root for his character even more, bc i wanted to see him get his revenge on pekka rollins but also allow himself to be soft like he once was, before that day. 

2. All the people I ship romantically with this character

allowing himself to even admit he loved inej was hard enough for him, so i cant imagine kaz ever loving anyone else like he does her, tbh. if he did, it would be very very far in the distant future post-canon, where he’d presumably be a changed character (after healing from his trauma), i hope. because he deserves to learn how to be soft again, and i think the best person to do that with is inej, for him.

3. My non-romantic OTP for this character

i know people ship him  with matthias, which is an interesting dynamic for sure. i wouldnt ship them romantically but theyve definitely had some really interesting interactions together, (like when matthias says kaz has nothing sacred in his life, or when kaz says matthias was right and he was out of tricks) and i love how matthias calls Kaz demjin/demon, haha.

4. My unpopular opinion about this character

idk if this is unpopular but as much as i called him an asshole before (lmao) i don’t actually think kaz is one. okay dont get me wrong, he can definitely be a dick, but from what i can recall, kaz doesn’t say mean shit just to be petty, it’s more like he’s a no-bullshit type guy who can be pragmatic to the point that it comes off as cruel. which makes sense considering thats how hes survived in the Barrel, and i think that makes him far more interesting than him just being a snarky character. Also! i think kaz’s ability to read/manipulate people is underrated- hes not just a barrel boss bc he’s ruthlessly violent, it’s because kaz knows how to read people like a book and knows their likes, dislikes, fears, etc and uses it against them/for his own gain. this ability of his is so much more sinister and impressive to me than him cutting people up.

5. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

i wish theyd gone onto more detail about what kaz does as a barrel boss. bc towards the end of crooked kingdom when hes finally confronting pekka rollins, pekka says something like “if it hadn’t been me who conned you and your brother, it would’ve been someone else” and “you cant trick an honest man, brekker, you know that”. the last part “you know that” made me realize we don’t know much about what operations the dregs runs. does kaz scam pigeons too? it seems to be a commonplace thing for gangs to do, from what it seems from pekka’s line, but i wonder if kaz would do that himself knowing what it feels like to be on the receiving end. does he scam them but not give them the illusion of kindness like pekka did with him & jordie ? or does kaz simply steal and pickpocket and minimize the manipulation ? i wish leigh bardugo had gone a little bit more in depth with that bit bc pekka’s line arose a lot of questions for me that would be cool to delve into.

1. How I feel about this character

if you follow my blog you probably already know how much i absolutely adore aang. Aang and i are very similar, except he’s, like, Better lol. tbh I think he’s everything people should strive to be: kind, resilient, patient etc. etc.

anyone. literally anyone. lmfao he’s just that type of character! his personality is so open and charming that he puts everyone around him at ease and is able to have meaningful interactions with every character ! lately i’ve been really into suki x aang tho ugh something about suki being so devoted to aangs past lives is just 😩😩😩👌👌

i love toph and aang’s friendship ! i ship them romantically too but even when im contemplating a ship with a different character with aang, taang’s friendship is always important to me and very underrated int his fandom tbh.

i dont wish to change canon in any way, i think it was masterfully done. but post canon, i wish to explore the dynamics between aang and older characters such as bumi, guru pathik, etc more. i think aang deserves to be able to hang out with people who remembers a time when his people were alive and his culture was valued !

OC-Tober Day 24: Opposites

*flops while screaming* im not explaining this one, just read aaaaaaahhhhh

A hare joins a group of scientists. He’s a prodigy that’s been sheltered his entire life by his family and community. He’d only ever met fellow herbivores and only heard horror stories of terrible things happening with carnivores. How they used to hunt herbivores. How they find children’s meat like a delicacy. And how, even though peace treaties have been signed and they’ve moved towards eating only non-sentient animals, they can change at a dime. They are never to be trusted.

Welp the first face he sees on this expedition as he walks into the lab he will spend a year on is a tiny dog’s. He’s fascinated and terrified by it.

It’s tiny, it’s friendly, and it always follows protocol and orders. But it could slip up anytime.

Hare stares too much and the office suspects something is up. One of them strikes a conversation with Hare about it, acting sleazy, but Hare turns it from romance to uh. Bigotry. “Why is there a carnivore with us? Aren’t they all impulse driven? Am I the only one scared by this?” The team-mate is like ‘Oh shit, I didn’t realize we had a racist with us’ but he explains, the dog has proven himself to be intelligent enough to join. He has lived his whole life with herbivores, has gone through all the carnivore training, and to top it off, he comes from a family of dogs all known for their cooperation with herbivores. They are safe. Still, Hare isn’t so sure. Meanwhile, Dog has been steering clear from Hare, picking up on how tense he gets when he’s around. Living with herbivores, Dog is used to this. He knows it’s better to just stay away and not cause a fuss. But then they get sent to a mission outside.

At it, something goes wrong. Everyone escapes but Hare was hit with something and is bleeding from the shoulder. Dog is the only one that stayed behind with him. Dog has a medkit and tries to reassure Hare to let him use it. Hare is nervous, so Dog muzzles himself as a sign of good faith.

Dog manages to clean the wound and seal it up. He never showed any signs of wanting to bite Hare. After repairing Hare, they have to hold hands through (idk a blizzard? Something like that) to get to the lab/ship again. They make it and the crew is impressed. It’s only after this that Hare puts down his wariness and picks up an obsession instead. Dog saved his life. He wants to study the Dog.

Now everywhere and doing anything, the Hare is glued to the Dog’s side. The Dog thinks it’s because he helped the Hare, and while everyone in the ship finds it amusing if annoying at times, the Dog likes it and doesn’t mind it. He begins thinking it’s cute. Dog also breaks down the boundaries more by initiating more touching, asking Hare personal questions, and following Hare like he does when he is ordered to do something else. The more Dog shows genuine interest, the more Hare is floored with sudden feelings. Rationalizing them is proving difficult; but he still won’t admit it’s attraction. Doing so would be a death sentence… surely? Relationships like those never last….

(There’s a cute instance where Hare is put on another field mission and they panic about it. Dog sees how terrified they are, and though he had to stay in the ship for this trip, he manages to switch work with someone for the day to help Hare calm down. They pretty much hold his hand the entire time.)

Dog eventually confesses to Hare with a smile one day while they were alone. All he says is “I like you”, and that was it for Hare. All his anxiety, his denial and his fear go out the window. Hare goes for a kiss, and doesn’t let go until there’s tongue involved. Then Hare nicks theirs against dog’s teeth and there’s blood. A lot of blood. Hare surprisingly gets into it but Dog is concerned immediately. Dog has to push back Hare as they both gasp and look at one another. Dog sees Hare shaking and thinks he’s ruined things by scaring the sheltered herbivore again. Hare looks at Dog with their blown out pupils, heckles raised, and blood dripping from their mouth and thinks, “I’m okay being eaten by you.” So hooray for vore haha cries.

Dog makes sure to take everything slower now in the few more months they’re together, being very careful not to hurt or make Hare feel threatened. Needless to say, Hare is very impatient and finds himself thinking more and more of the taste of his blood. The feeling of teeth. He’s uh, going down a bit of a spiral. But this crashes with a nightmare of Dog’s waking both up. Dog had a flashback to a terrible childhood memory where they hurt someone. In real life, he did it out of necessity (some bully), but still, he was severely punished. In his dream, there was no one to punish him. And he just kept going. And he loved every moment of revenge.

Dog’s description of his violent dream sent Hare back a lot. Made them snap from their fantasies and go back to the fear they were so used to. Dogs are dangerous. Carnivores are dangerous. What used to be his delight became shameful. To run from confronting himself, Hare instead began blaming it on Dog. He became a victim in his mind. His jumpiness and avoidance of Dog returned the next day.

Then there’s an accusation that Dog messed with the test subjects, now found horrifically maimed and dead in their chambers. The accusation is taken seriously, even without proof.Dog insists that he was with Hare at the time, Hare’s heart starts to feel cold at the accusation. And his sheltered prejudice springs back up with the rest of the team spouting nonsense. Of course it was the Dog that did it. No herbivore could be that cruel. He doesn’t vouch for Dog, instead joining the team with stories of his own. On how creepy the dog could get sometimes, how he noticed Dog brought meat snacks into the ship, and the dream. He told them all about the dream. Dog was locked inside his room as they waited for the authorities to come in a few days. They were far from civilization afterall. But on the very first night, Dog finds a way to escape and run away. Into the frozen wasteland. This only solidified their guilt in the crew’s eyes. Hare felt disgust for the rest of the two days.

The police arrive. Even without Dog around ,they need to investigate the entirety of the lab for evidence against him in order to persecute him legally. The more thorough investigation quickly brings up facts that pile up better than rumors. Dog was right, it couldn’t have been him. It was the head researcher, who wanted to test new drugs for the sake of it, went too far, got drugged herself and went on a rampage. She didn’t even have to frame the Dog in the next morning, no one had noticed the blood on her shoes. She’s dragged away, and the team is left with guilt at jumping so readily onto prejudice. They were all biggots. The authorities search for Dog but nothing turns up. He’s disappeared.

Hare is a wreck. In his sheltered mind, he had felt so justified to quickly turn on him, but now it was clear. Hare was wrong. He has been the whole time. He only has himself to blame… or atleast… a part of himself. Again, his brain shifts the blame. His instinctual jumpiness. His growing up in a herbivore society. His fantasies. The problem wasn’t that Dog was a predator, it was that Hare was a herbivore and he couldn’t understand. He needs to fix this. Then he needs to find Dog. He has to be redeemed.

So in his twisted mind as time rolls on, he will conduct experiments.

Years later, Dog has been living in a cold, secluded European town. He had miraculously found a fishing boat near the ice and snuck inside. No one noticed him until they reached their town. He was cold, hungry, without a dollar and emotional. He explained his story after a cup of coffee and his first taste of jerky. The town was kind and full of carnivores. They agreed Dog was done dirty, and was right to run away.  He was welcomed in. They are glad to have Dog, particularly as company for one of their own. The town is mostly made up of older folks, with a newer generation now born, but only one person Dog’s age. They are eager to get along and help Dog, and they become inseparable. Dog feels valued here, and unafraid of being himself for the first time. But still. If there’s one thing he’ll always hate, it’s the cold. Cue it being winter time again.

“AAUGH I HATE THE COLD!” He yelled at no one as he shivers and stumbles in the snow to go back home. They’re covered head to toe and they still feel cold. Even his tail has a cover! His outburst caught the interest of a new stranger that was having a conversation with a local. He turns to look at the small figure shuffling by, obscured by all their layers of clothing. But his ears never betrayed him. To the old lady he was questioning, he reassures he’s just passing through and bids them farewell. The old lady gives him a look as she sees him slink off. She doesn’t feel right about this. He’s following the person that made the sound.

Dog shakily opens his door and barely steps in, sighing with relief at the warmth, when he feels arms around him. The door behind him closes. He drops his keys. Not alarmed at first, he suspects who it is. “Artemy?” The hare’s name isn’t Artemy. Hare squeezes harder and whispers this to Dog’s ear. Dog is startled as they remember the voice, and he scrambles away, his groceries also dropping to the floor. They look at eachother, Dog on the floor and Hare standing tall. Dog in a panic and Hare overjoyed.

Hare kneels down and straddles Dog as they remain speechless. “Let’s see what you look like now.” He hums as he’s taking off layer after layer, Dog’s body betraying him and letting him. Dog shivers once he pulls the last turtle neck. Dog glares up at him and Hare awws. Hare comments Dog has gotten fluffier. Cuter. But still so vicious. Hare goes for another hug, kissing Dog’s neck. “I missed you so much.” Dog isn’t buying into this. He finally gains back control and pushes Hare away. He gets up, picking up and putting back on his turtleneck.

Dog tells Hare to get out. That Dog is innocent and they’re not going back to be prosecuted. Hare shakes his head. He tells Dog he’s already been cleared once the police came in. That it was the head researcher all along.

Dog laughs. Hare doesn’t.

Hare asks why Dog left if it only made him look more suspicious. Dog said they knew what happens to carnivores in a herbivore court system. They just get blamed.

Dog looks at Hare, eyes still hard. Hare should leave, before they see what happens to herbivores in a carnivore court system. Hare shakes his head.

He’s not there to cause trouble. He came to apologize. Dog growls. Apology not accepted. Dog will never forgive Hare. Hare flinches and gets up. He starts his words slowly but Dog is moving away. Hare yells his immediate thoughts instead. He’s redeemed himself! He can prove it! Just… hear him out…

Dog turns around and sees the baby eyes. He hates how effective they still are.

Dog sighs. Fine. Dog picks up his strewn groceries and goes into his kitchen to make some tea. Before it’s done making, Hare better finish explaining. Hare wastes no time and goes into a tangent about how he knew his herbivore roots failed him. How he realized the problem in their relationship always stemmed from his insecurity in being born prey. So he had to correct this. To better get to know Dog. He slowly goes to Dog and Dog takes a step back. He reaches for Dog’s hands, takes them, and opens his mouth. The Hare has fangs now. He places the Dog’s thumbs to touch them, though the Dog only does so for a second before retrieving his hands and washing them off. “Okay so you modified your teeth. So what?”

It’s not just that, the Hare promises. Dog stares at him, still unconvinced, as the tea kettle begins to whistle. Time is up. Instead of leaving, the hare moves to the bag of groceries and picks up a packet. Pork. Hare smiles. He asks if he can stay for dinner. He’d love to taste Dog’s cooking.

So the thing about Murderdock is that he’s kind of super depressed??? Under all that shit??? And I know people are all about sometimes just having a shitty fucking villian who is unredeemable, but I am? Kind of not that person?

I think that whole persona is an shield of sorts to protect himself.

Murderdock deserves a chance in the Inimitable Verse, I think. He’s a Matt, so he’s got it in him to be a good person; he’s just on the other side of the coin that all the others are. He’s trying to be bad, because doing good things will make him feel like he’s out of control, they’ll make him actually think about all the bad shit that he’s done, and that’ll send him spiraling. doing good things or even just simply not-bad things makes him really question when he wants out of life, which–and this is honestly just me spewing nonsense–I personally think is to be neutral.

He doesn’t want to be a pawn for either good or bad; mostly he just doesn’t want to be a pawn in the game anymore. He wants control and doesn’t really know how else to find it other than to grab it for himself or force it upon others, whereas Foggy (of the Inimitable Verse and of his own verse) has it in him to help Murderdock understand that control can come from attending the needs and desires of others in a non-violent way.

Murderdock desperately in love with DA Foggy in the Inimitable Verse, but he doesn’t quite see it as that; he thinks it’s some kind of affliction or weird hate; maybe even fear. So he goes out of his way to avoid DA Fogs, while at the same time being like, hyperfixated on him and confused.

When he’s confronted with Inimitable Fogs, he’s kind of thrust into this situation where he’s given everything that he didn’t know he wanted, so long as he doesn’t fight, and that is very very VERY confusing. Also Inimitable Foggy is much more assertive with Matt than DA Fogs is with Murderdock and like, it kind of turns Murderdock on a bit. and again that leaves him off balanced, confused and attracted and realizing he’s attracted and hating it, but also loving it.

Anyways, basically, Murderdock is a sub.

why does anyone think mukuro rokudo is anything remotely resembling cool

mukuro is a dumbass and the indisputable proof is right there in mukuro’s introduction arc

1. looks like a dumbass?

this is the very first picture of mukuro you get to see. some dumbass with badly parted hair and a fucking camo long-sleeve on under his fancy collared coat. how does  someone have a sense of fashion this bad and this tacky? it’s unbelievable. he’s only 15. he’s 15 and he’s dressing himself like this. someone help him 

you don’t find this out until later but he’s wearing a school uniform

he stole a school uniform, gyakuran and all, and put a non-school-compliant camo long-sleeve shirt on under it. for the aesthetic. for his really specifically ugly aesthetic. i physically can’t describe the visceral emotion this inspires in me. just look at him. would you be able to take him seriously if he tried to kill you? he could walk up to me and say “i’m going to take your life” and i’d just be like “haha yeah okay, is that what you were thinking when you were parting your hair this morning” and then i would laugh and he would skewer me in half with his pitchfork. 

2. an incredibly bad actor, unbelievably so

mukuro wants to possess tsuna or something and has the brilliant idea to waltz up to tsuna in the middle of a creepy forest by an abandoned amusement park, pretending he’s one of the poor innocent victims of that terrible criminal mukuro rokudo, while smiling and being friendly and not acting the least bit like a cowed or angry victim at all. he spends the entire time being creepy. he tells tsuna that he’s been taken advantage of by that horrible, awful mukuro, but his overwhelmingly creepy vibe completely negates any sympathy that story might have inspired in tsuna and instead prompts tsuna to think “this guy is really creepy!” and leave.

important takeaways: 

mukuro can’t even keep up the charade for a full two minutes. he just doesn’t have the patience! he’s a terrible actor!!! 

mukuro is an impulsive, straightforwardly violent person who is only capable of posturing and rudimentary mind games as long as he doesn't get impatient with them

mukuro is a mist flame user whose ENTIRE GIG is being able to USE ILLUSIONS but he can’t even cover up his own weird eye. is it because it never occurred to him to do so? did he forget? did he know his eye would be noticeable, but he thought it would be cool so he elected to ignore common sense & subterfuge in favor of another brief intimidation tactic that doesn’t do anything to tsuna except make him think mukuro is weirder than ever?? DID HE JUST  THINK HE WOULD LOOK COOLER AS HE IS??? 

mukuro’s a DUMBASS and a DISASTER and he doesn’t know how to interact with anyone  else in any capacity at all, either as a spy, or as a friend / non-suspicious stranger, or as an enemy who could have USED THIS ENTIRE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE TSUNA THE FUCK OUT 

mukuro: i’m going to possess the next heir to the vongola...  and destroy the mafia... NOTHING matters more to me than tearing down the ugly, sinful world in which we crawl...!!!! also mukuro: [corners heir to the vongola, alone in a forest where no one would notice them, and proceeds to do nothing except be exceedingly weird for absolutely no reason tsuna would notice or even care to comprehend] 

he’s so dumb it makes me cry 

3. important reminder

at this point in the story mukuro and his gang have been living in kokuyo park and eating garbage for like the past three weeks. he has NO right to be looking as good, self-assured, groomed, or confident as he does. AND YET HERE HE IS, shining in his full magnificent bastardly glory. something that would shame or embarrass anyone else rolls off mukuro like water rolls off of wax. he’s just absolutely immune to self-consciousness and i think that’s incredible. 

4. impractically dramatic

mukuro sets up his final confrontation with tsuna in a large, abandoned, empty room in one of the abandoned theme park buildings. that is, it’s empty except for the large, ornate throne that mukuro has set up and seated himself on so that he’s dramatically hidden in the shadows when tsuna enters the room. he had to set that all up himself. who puts that much time and effort into their presentation to their enemy, but not to actually defeating their enemy??? mukuro, that’s who.

5. laughably inept at his own professed expertise, manipulation and controlling others

tsuna enters the scene of the final confrontation, still thinking that mukuro is just that weird creepy kid he met in the woods and not... you  know.... mukuro himself.... and mukuro gives away the same in about ten seconds. he just couldn’t resist the impulse to crow about his masterful deception in tsuna’s face and revel in tsuna’s shock... at the fact... that he was mukuro all along!!

this has almost no impact on tsuna beyond “oh no, the guy is creepy AND also the guy i have to defeat.” if mukuro had put more work and buildup into the facade, but ohhh nooo, mukuro “i crave instant gratification and i want it NOW” rokudo has to have the payoff immediately. what did you even accomplish with this deception, you dumbass? you idiot. you fool 

6. the posturing

mukuro is an overeager fifteen year old who is murderous and violent but also wants to be incredibly cool. look at his face when someone asks him “what do you think people even are, you asshole?!” 

he looks so fucking pleased with himself for delivering this line, like it’s one of the slyest and cleverest things he’s ever said. he’s so proud of himself for flaunting how immoral, horrifying, and terrible he is in front of everyone’s faces. fear him... this is SO funny, especially in light of how horrible he is at manipulating others. mukuro you’re doing great

5. doesn’t fucking know what a flame is

mukuro: my incredible fighting prowess comes from this purple flame i can summon sometimes...!!! also mukuro: [has no fucking clue what the flame is, only that it makes him fight good and thats the important part, obviously]

he’s been through like, at least 2 entire mafia families, and has possibly killed more. the sheer power of mukuro’s ignorance to the existence of dying will flames is astoundingly powerful, and enough to knock out lesser men at close ranges

 6. can’t resist the impulse to give away all his cards so he can gloat over his enemies

you know the part where he pretends to shoot himself in the head but actually possesses one of tsuna’s friends? and then proceeds to give away his possession almost IMMEDIATELY by a) not changing his mannerisms in the slightest and behaving exactly like himself, b) attacking tsuna (and not even right! he misses! he was too impatient to actually wait for a good opportunity?????) c) just straight-up telling tsuna what he did

how does anyone take him seriously beyond the fact that he can fight good. he’s so dumb i cry every time i think about all the stupid shit he does. he’s a baby

7. this isn’t really evidence of mukuro being a dumbass, but i do want everyone to know, that mukuro’s persona is so aggravatingly conceited that he changed tsuna’s motivation from “i want to stop mukuro from hurting my friends” to “i  want to beat in mukuro’s entire face because he’s a fucking asshole” and i think that’s incredible

8. impractically dramatic

i already put this one down but it bears repeating because of the scene where mukuro is possessing ~6 bodies, and tsuna is knocked prone on the ground completely unmoving. tsuna has an ENTIRE conversation with reborn and mukuro doesn’t do anything except stand to the side with his 6 possessed super-fighter bodies and watch. what are you doing you fool

like i can't even comprehend what's going on in mukuro's head the only thing i can think is that he's impulsive and he LOVES entertainment so he can't help but do stupid shit like this as long as it's for the sake of more drama. if it adds drama he has to let it happen. 

this entire battle is just mukuro’s dramatics? he's spent so much time posturing and the only reason anyone is going to pay attention to the stupid shit he says is because occasionally he actually follows up on it and does terrible awful things. otherwise no one would care. mukuro needs actual friends and people who care about him, which he's going to make difficult because he physically can't stand not having control over someone else

exhibit a: mukuro does this thing where he very dramatically stabs out his eye, and when removes his fingers somehow the eye is still there except it’s bleeding now and looks very cool. then he monologues to tsuna about his powerup for a while. tsuna... doesn’t give a single shit. the resulting dynamic looks a little bit like this:

mukuro is working very hard to look cool and intimidating right now! tsuna thinks he’s an idiot. out of all the things mukuro has to be stressed out about right now, i.e. being chased by deadly mafia enforcers, it really says something that it’s someone else thinking he looks stupid that makes him sweat. it’s hilarious is what it is. 

tsuna: [no longer affected by mukuro's bulshit] mukuro: s...shit... [continues to issue bullshit, except harder and more than before. also he's more stressed]

i love that within 10 minutes of battle tsuna has divined mukuro’s exact nature and is no longer fazed by any of mukuro’s bullshit, and really can’t do anything except be completely fed up with it at this point. just go home mukuro. just stop while you’re still ahead. it’s okay. 

naturally it wouldn’t be mukuro if he didn’t follow his series of ill-advised decisions all the way to the very end, issuing bullshit the whole way. but  that’s  why we love him; for his endless potential and comedic entertainment

in conclusion: i think mukuro possiby has no sense of shame, only embarrassment, so if someone pointed out the fact that this entire sequence of events is INCREDIBLY funny exclusively because of the ridiculousness of mukuro’s decisions it would go like this

who the heck is my muse anyway: unintentionally cold and very devoted dead boy who deserves friends and not to be hit on thank u very much

points of interest: visibly non-human, tries to be polite no matter what and talk with anyone he can, a wanderer with hundreds of years of life experience

what they’ve been up to recently: honestly he hasn’t been devved outside of his partner at all yet; an overly intense supernatural marriage

where to find them: museums, snowy mountains, cities sometimes.

current plans: try and figure out more of his personality and interact with strangers. also please let him be happy --

desired interactions: i’d love to see him talking with anyone, he’s very closed off at the moment. real plot threads are nice too, i love writing fight scenes or backstory.

offered interactions: he spends a lot of time around art or looking for things that spark his interest, learning to make more things, use his hands better, or learn more about modern life are all easy mode. otherwise people or gods confronting him about his partner who is well-known and violent is interesting!
