welp, didn't manage to get everything out before season 10 started, but i gotta post it one way or another so here we go! heard there was a fandom swap game going on, wanted to do a couple promts of my own :D

For shinji's bday I had another photo shoot with my mantis shinshin (who has molted twice again since the last one). It's incredible to see just how big she's gotten, can't wait to see her reach her adult size.

#I'm still waiting for the formal offer letter but let me tell you how i got this job#a hiring manager reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in the team he's building#so i was like yeah I'll throw my hat in#i had an easy coding screen with him (valid palindrome lol)#then i had a screen with another manager around QA practices#then i went through four more interviews as part of a 'final loop'#one was a more difficult coding question. one was design a test framework. one was QA-behavorial#and the other was communication + collab behavorial#each of those six interviews was a 45 minute video call btw#this all took like. three months lmfao#then a week after that i heard back that they didn't want me for that role#but that one of the guys i interviewed with is a hiring manager on an adjacent team and he really liked me#when i looked back at my notes sure enough that guy is the one who ended our call with 'i hope i get to work with you!' lol#so they wanted to put me for this other slightly less technical role#and i was like yeah sure why not i liked that guy too lol#so the next day i had one final interview with a senior leader asking about my priorization and conflict resolution skills#which makes sense since this is a more cross-functional communication role with lots of talking to developers#and that guy was awesome and definitely someone I'd work for#so a few days later i got the verbal offer!#i will also add that during all of this i also went to the final stage for a different team at the same company#but was plain out rejected from that one lol#plus i did beginning screens for two other roles as well and didnt make it as far#all this to say i did like... over a dozen interviews with this company since October lol#and i studied like CRAZY. i spent hours on leetcode and hours putting together stories from my experience#i worked very very very hard and it finally fucking paid off!!!!!#back in october i said to my wife 'i want to get a job at (company). i think that will be my goal now.'#and she was like lol ok. but i kept getting interviews and studying for them#working harder than i ever did in college even lmao. and she was like oh wait you're really serious#and then she helped me sooooo much by taking care of the kids while i studied and stuff like that#but yeah i did it. i put my mind to it and i fucking did it!!!!!

I made some magic wands!!! I got the wooden wand bases from the dollar tree several months ago, and finally got around to sanding the edges and painting them!
The heart wand is inspired by the Powerpuff Girls! The hearts are based from the outro and the ribbons are based off the girls! All the ribbons are just what I've had laying around (the pink one is something I've had in a junk drawer for 10 years akshskjdk), they're all different textures and are nice to swish around!
The star wand is just something I thought would look nice! I wanted an ombre effect, so I mixed white paint into the yellow twice so the center would look brighter than the edges! And then, for the handle, I wanted it to kinda look like the night sky, and I'm very pleased how the color-mixing turned out! I also had some glow-in-the-dark slick/puffy paint, so i just brushed 2 layers on the star and!! it glows!!! It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but it looks better and cooler in real life, trust me, lol
I'm really happy with how they turned out!!! They're really fun to spin and twirl in my hand, and I absolutely adore the size and weight of them - it's surprisingly satisfying to gently bonk myself on the head with the flat part, lmao. They're fun to fidget with, look nice as room decor, and! most importantly! are nice for my regression!!!
#watching the new fop show and the old oh yeah!cartoons episodes made me remember how much i love fairies lol#and then i remembered i LITERALLY had wooden wands in my craft bag#well. technically they're not wands - but like. they are. lol#i was DREADING sanding them (even though they were - for the most part- pretty smooth)#but then it didn't even take that long and was pretty relaxing and satisfying when the edges were exactly as round as i wanted them#i was half tempted to leave them as plain wood (maybe adding a nice finish) bc they looked really nice#but alas the allure of a pretty pretty wand was greater than an Aesthetic Montessori-adjacent Wooden Toy ™#maybe i'll buy another one theyre only $1.25 after all#toybox#little activities#toddler babbles#mine#agere#age regression#babyre#totre#agere crafts

Made some matcha focaccia via Archie Cartwright's recipe :) pretty sure I fucked up the focaccia part but damn if it doesn’t have a great matcha flavor (my favorite !!) <33

It took me a bit to get used to the Battle Network designs, since I think my preferred Mega Man style designs are the X ones and these are so much slimmer, but you know, I like Roll.EXE’s design quite a bit
Actually I think my main thing is that I like her head things and how she attacks with them, it’s pretty neat
#I think their in game sprites really helped me vibe with them#because they’re small and probably don’t need too much detail#which I suppose is true of other designs but I mean that it helps them not look so slim and plain#these Dive designs are good quality but I think they have that plainness here#one thing I think of with this is that Roll needs something on her waist to look less plain#but her hair is probably supposed to account for her lower half and she looks fine in the game’s concept art#maybe they just need the right setting for me to really like them#but yeah these designs are growing on me I think#I also am enjoying Battle Network I played a lot of it yesterday#anyways sorry random#megaman#mega man battle network#roll.exe#character design#random stuff

I have a draft from hallowmas I should finish about Varchas fashion#The short of which is “yeah varchas really looks like angkor wat but just plain Isn't”. Very little matches up beyond aesthetics#Bc. The EC was definitely first envisioned along the lines of “exotic far off land of stories" aka#The EC is very much India and the far east per victorian perceptions of it. Which both makes sense in terms of early fl origins but#Doesn't then make it Great for portraying this exoticism. We have a ton on EC to help differentiate it but yeah. Varchas is weird#Looks like angkor wat has many things in common with angkor wat. Has nothing in common with say.#Cambodia. In all to my looking into it at least#(Grietje is half varchaasi so I wanted to learn about their fashion and it's just def unrelated to Cambodian fashion from the time)

You know. I'm part of the fraction "to each their own and let people handle their lives however they see best fit". But I do feel the need to say that I have seldom seen such an idiotic assumption as that breaking up with someone four days before someone's birthday when you also want that someone to do something for their birthday even though you know you and your soon-to-be-ex will both have to be there won't end with that person just not doing anything with anyone for their birthday. Partially because nobody wants that kind of awkwardness after a fresh breakup and also because the soon-to-be-ex has the lovely habit of wallowing in self pity and making everything about how they have it so bad. You know I just think in such cases you should've waited a week with the breakup. I don't care how much you want to fuck that other guy but I really think you should've waited a week.
