#and it’s not like he has more support like shinichi does

Like, I get why the shippers are upset at the news. But it is not lazy writing; most of his stories have been built over time and stretched. Just because an uncanon ship is incest does not imply he is lazy. There are other situations in the manga that imply that they have been related for years, and Gosho even stated in 2013 that there is more to unveil between these two.
Like just keep shipping them, many people sleep with their cousins.
Do you think I'm mad because of my ship? Yeah it sucks but I'll still ship them as cousins because they were never going to be canon anyway!
No, I'm mad because it was bad writing. He ruined a relationship that was fun for me, not Shinichi and Kaito but rather Toichi and Kaito a Yuusuke and Toichi. I'll get into Toichi and Yuusaku first but he's had YEARS to imply a familial relationship, it could have been implied in canon when Shinichi encountered Toichi as a child! It could have been included in past movies if he wanted to go the movie route! The first Kaito KID focused movie was based on FAMILY. It could have set up properly a long time ago! But it wasn't and I'm tried of people pretending it was. Him saying he'll explain it is NOT him setting this plot point up.
So you're telling me for no good reason (and no Toichi fighting a criminal organization is not a good excuse considering he didn't mind having a son meanwhile) Toichi and Yuusaku did not introduce their families? That Toichi, who is supposed to be important to Yuusaku, is never even mentioned?! That they didn't think it would be a good idea for Kaito to have support from someone his own age and family while he was grieving his father?! Do you really want him to be such a selfish man because I don't.
And a more personal note, I enjoy the plot of two rivals of matching intellectual prowess actually facing against one another but he's taken all that away with this reveal. He's ruined Toichi and Yuusaku's relationship for me.
And this isn't me even getting into the implications of what it means for Kaito. He idolised his father! He risks his life to bring him justice! And his father is alive and letting him! What. The. Fuck. I always knew Gosho wanted him to be alive but I had hoped that he would recognize the bad decision it would be. I'm afraid not.
And do you want to know why I think its lazy? THE SERIES IS FULL OF LOOKALIKES. Okita for example is right there! Is he a cousin too? Are Ran and Aoko cousins now? They look alike! It's even commented in the manga! Shinichi and Ran look alike.
Gosho has never been very creative with his character designs, it's a fact acknowledged by fandom, so that's why we know this him making Shinichi and Kaito cousins is a cheap excuse to disguise that.
You won't change my mind about his writing being terrible, Anon, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

uhm, how exactly will gosho develop the cousin thing in the manga.
I mean, I wouldn't know, honestly. What goes on in the mind of that man only he knows (and sometimes I doubt even that).
My opinion under the read more...
Personally, I've already stated many times that it's a trope I've liked and headcanoned for a long while now, and it's not like it's COMPLETELY out of the blue. The whole "they look the same" is a big factor, there have been references to them having some sort of "ancestor" in common, the Toichi and Yusaku tease was already there in the childhood case of Shinichi (where Toichi appeared and called Shinichi big bro btw 👀) and there was a time long ago that Gosho said something about it in an interview and that it was going to be talked about.
Anyway, point is, I could see this going in different ways. I would LOVE to see this being explored and dealt with nicely and seriously, but my hopes for that are low. He'll either just have it mentioned and never more explored or talked about (like with akemi and akai), or maybe in the mk manga now to talk about Toichi, I don't know?
Because honestly, I feel like people are getting hung up on the cousins thing and are forgetting about the confirmation of what we all have been fearing and it's that Toichi is indeed alive and both of Kaito's parents suck ass. And what scares me is the possibility of it being comedic or Kaito being okay with it or something when he deserves to have that be explored. He became a criminal because of it! And his parents know and aren't doing ANYTHING!
I've said this before, MK is not as shits and giggles as it seems. Story is pretty darn dark if you think about it. Kaito is one of if not THE most solitary (lonely) character of the dcmk universe. He is not as the fandom tends to represent him sometimes. That's not Kaito. The over the top, flirty, pompous one is Kid. It's a mask. A facade. Kaito is not like that, he is just a teen who is struggling to make real connections with people and who is terrified of being found out as a criminal and cannot for the life of him let people IN because they'll see right through him and whose "dead" dad taught him NOT TO SHOW HIS EMOTIONS.
Kaito NEEDS some support. Jii alone is not enough. His own parents have lied to him his entire life and he's constantly alone, grieving for something that is not real. He has Aoko, but he CAN'T let her in completely for obvious reasons. Hakuba's there, but same thing. And I'm sorry but Akako I don't really think counts either, he actively seems not to really even like her or whatever...
MY POINT IS. If Kaito can get some new family members that could support him... Why refuse it, no? I'm not talking about Yusaku because he's also been keeping him in the dark and all and hasn't really seemed to do anything about it. But Yukiko (yes I'm choosing to believe she's also oblivious to Kaito being put in that situation) and Shinichi? Oh, those two could do wonders for someone like Kaito, in my opinion. Because Yukiko is Yukiko (she was born to be the cool aunt), and Shinichi is... Well... Shinichi. He could understand Kaito and actively show him support and help. They COULD be amazing as family.
Now it's all just a matter of... Does Gosho WANT to go that deep into this? Or is he going to continue to disregard Kaito's suffering and not give him anyone to lean on?
Anyway, cousins Kaito and Shinichi rule!

i am currently at the "teiu case" episodes (411-412 case files: 491-493) on my rewatch and. can we just appreciate Suzuki Sonoko?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this particular case is only a couple of cases later than Suspicious Cell Phone Murder Case (case files: 480-483 and eps 398-400). so i'm assuming, even with the muddy timeline, that they happened close to each other in the timeline too (esp based on the weather and a bit of time mention).
my main point is: ran gets shinichi's contact info. she can finally call him, she has a solid way to reach him. and ofc sonoko is given this information too, and one of the first things she does with this information? Suzuki Sonoko-sama, the Great and Amazing, takes a picture of one Mouri Ran in a swimsuit and sends it to one Kudou Shinichi. i love how she, in one beautiful move:
gets to tease ran, which she always finds delight in
makes her other friend (since childhood) happy
bc yes, it is for teasing purposes but sonoko is well aware that these two have feelings for each other (and is their biggest supporter, A TRUE QUEEN), and that shinichi will absolutely appreciate such a thing. (in this particular instance, knowing shinichi better than ran bc SONOKO SUSPECTS SHINICHI SAVED THE PICTURE, instead of deleting it, like he said to ran, while ran believes shinichi WHICH ABSOLUTELY SENDS ME, SO ADORABLE, but also, he did totally not delete that picture, ran).
sonoko and ran are best friends, yes, but sonoko and shinichi are also really close friends, and i think it needs to be mentioned more.
thank you for listening to my brainrot, i'm out

Bro I need to draw Kogoro and Ginzo interacting with Yuusaku and Toichi, it would be very fun!
want some headcanons? oh you want them
(It is a compilation of headcanons from different aus, therefore there is no coherence or they contradict each other, maybe in the future I will explain the aus as such, but each hc will give some context )
The first time Ginzo saw Toichi was when he saw him fall from the tree to his backyard, Toichi stood up as if nothing had happened and said "Hello! I'm your new neighbor, sorry for entering your property like that haha, Would you like to come to mine and have a drink?" [I like to think that's how they met lol]
Kogoro believed that Yuusaku was gay, and Yuusaku believed that Kogoro was a delinquent, prejudices due to their school days. [They are both gay and delinquent lol, magic au?]
Toichi almost killed him by 'accident' ["The lightning thing was an accident, the cocktail thing was different!" toxic love au ]
Toichi and Kaito are sons of bitches, they have killed people and hidden evidence at their convenience. Shinichi and Yuusaku know it and have done nothing about it [here Shinichi's moral code goes to shit, he is forced to kill, magic au?]
Ginzo and Kogoro agree that Yuusaku and Toichi teach questionable things to their children, but admit that they are useful. General hc.
Kogoro suspected that Yuusaku was suicidal because of the marks on his arms [he was not wrong, the entire Kudo family has had serious problems since they were children] but the marks were not from that. (my main au )
Yuusaku had a hard time growing his mustache. General hc
Toichi also likes Yoko-chan's music (only for him and Kogoro to bump into each other at a meet and greet and say "wtf?" )
Sometimes Kogoro wishes he could continue tucking Ran in, sometimes he does it with Conan. General hc i love it.
Ginzo and Kogoro learned about "The Tale of the Ice King and the Fire Jester" by Yuusaku and Toichi, and decided to use that idea to talk about their love relationship with their daughters. (Magic au?)
It was a bad idea, Aoko and Ran thought it was a joke or that they were even trying to make fun of the situation (his homosexuality ), don't use fairy tales with 17 year old girls.
Yukiko completely supports Kogoro (in this au Kogoro and Eri's relationship is more turbulent and Eri is a bitch in pursuit of the plot)
Ginzo never said a single swear word in front of Aoko, Kogoro tries to soften them so that Ran does not imitate them, Toichi taught Kaito to swear in French and English. yukiko put yuusaku in time out and we know why.
Ginzo and kogoro are cat persons
Kogoro has no intention of returning Conan to his parents.
Ginzo and Aoko think that Kaitou KID is gay, they are not wrong–

So if DC were that kind of series, how well do you think a HeiShinRan love triangle would work?
A-are you reading my mind? One of the posts I wanted to make is exactly about this!
I... even put together ranji.psd for it... a lot longer ago than I thought, wow.
Tumblr media
Thank you for encouraging me to finally actually write this.
So, first off: I'm admittedly not the most familiar with the Detective Conan manga. But I've scanned over some assorted cases in the manga, particularly Heiji cases (of course), and I couldn't help but be immensely intrigued by a few extra interactions between Heiji and Ran that weren't adapted into the anime (Files 93, 151, 152):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second one isn't too noteworthy—and honestly, it was probably cut from the anime because this plot point of Heiji deducting in an exaggerated accent is, as far as I can tell, never brought up again or resolved—but the protectiveness that Kogoro displays there does catch my interest. He clearly seems to see Heiji as a potential romantic partner for Ran, something that I don't think ever comes up anywhere else.
But it's the first instance that gets to me the most. Something the anime does adapt is that Ran only starts warming up to Heiji because he reminds her of Shinichi (Episode 48):
Tumblr media
Further, it's later revealed in the series that both Ran and Kazuha love seeing their detective friends smile upon solving a case (File 319):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, that moment of Ran pushing Conan out of the way so that she can watch Heiji work is loaded with stuff, for all three characters. For Ran, she misses Shinichi so desperately that someone who merely reminds her of him is enough to make her grin and blush and feel at ease. For Heiji, constantly compared to others—even called "The Kudo of the West" in FUNimation's English dub!—there's something achingly tragic about being admired not for who you are but for the person you resemble. For Shinichi, Heiji represents everything that he has lost. He can't give Ran the victorious smile that she's looking for anymore, and she scolds him and removes him from the picture.
But the third "Ranji" example, from File 152, perhaps points to a shift. When Ran lists what she likes about Shinichi (Episodes 2, 42), thoughtful isn't an adjective that leaves her lips:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(That last one, though... girl....)
Ran appreciating Heiji for his own qualities, rather than seeing him as only an echo of Shinichi, does grab my attention.
Of course, personally speaking, I don't really like love triangles. They tend to be tired, exhausting drama, and in this case, I'm a HeiShinRan (and HeiShinKazuRan) supporter, so ultimately, I'd like them all happily loving each other.
But I do find it unfair, in my probably embarrassingly limited experience with love triangles, that they are often composed of two women longing for the affection of one man. So, I can't lie—I maybe yearn a little bit for the love triangle that was arguably being set up here before getting scrapped?
If nothing else, it would mean more interactions between Ran and Heiji, and I would adore that. Out of the main cast, Heiji's pretty much only allowed meaningful interactions with Conan/Shinichi and Kazuha, and, yeah, I don't love that it'd be a love triangle giving him more meaningful interactions with Ran, but I would love the additional interactions. I'd love to see Ran more involved in the cases that the boys solve. I'd love to have moments where Heiji and Ran bond over being accomplished practitioners of their respective martial arts, or how they both have famous fathers, or literally anything.
Plus, I think a scenario where Ran is genuinely interested in pursuing Heiji romantically would also have a huge impact on Shinichi's actions. He likes Heiji! If he saw that Heiji makes Ran happy, would he really keep breaking her heart and asking her to wait for him?
And, for Heiji, I feel like this setup also allows more opportunities for him to seriously confront his insecurities. "She only likes me because she can't have you" is a conversation I could see between him and Shinichi, and that would absolutely have my interest. I have so many feelings about Episode 479 and will finish that 20-page essay someday maybe because it's probably the biggest example of tackling Heiji's insecurities that I know of.
There's something similar with Ran and Kazuha already (File 280), and gosh, I so wish that we got more exploration into it than just a, "Kazuha... You're so cute! ❤️" from Ran.
Tumblr media
All this said... it's way easier and less messy to not go into love triangle business at all, and I'm totally cool with that decision! It's cute that Ran and Shinichi are so supportive of Heiji and Kazuha, and vice versa. Love triangles tend to be pretty obnoxious. But I do think there is some compelling character exploration that could be done with a HeiShinRan triangle that I wouldn't hate—especially if it ended with happy HeiShinRan/HeiShinKazuRan.

Sometimes I wonder if despite being such a nice book Dracula is destined to have horrible adaptations that don't care about the original material, while the few good ones remain hidden for avid readers to see.
Yeah the Drcl Midnight Children manga is still shit, and it twisted all of the characters so beyond that the only thing they share is name. Warnings for sensitive content regarding sexualization with Lucy because I do warn you it gets really gross.
Shinichi Sakamoto literally had the easiest job in the world if he wanted to adapt Dracula into manga since he already has a gothic art style that could have been the perfect ring for the novel. We have already seen in the Manga Classics adaptation that you only need to draw what is happening in the novel, that's it.
Just grab your ink pen, and let Stoker's writing do the heavy lifting while you go crazy drawing all of the dresses, and the bats.
But nooooo! Everyone thinks they have the Big Brain™ to "subvert" Dracula while doing what everyone else has been doing but worse every time. The same tropes, the same complexes, the same beats, even making Dracula the protagonist. All of it feels the same, and Midnight Children does this too BUT WORSE.
It's infuriating to see Mina and Lucy portrayed like this. Also I only mention Mina and Lucy because these girls are the only characters who got any "dept" in this story, everyone else is a downright cardboat cutout, or worse a stereotype (Guess who is this one). Again, these modern writers end up being more sexist than century old irish writer with all of these "subversions" somehow.
We start with Mina Murray, a peasant girl who managed to get into Whitby's only boys academy which makes her a pariah among her peers, and subject of bullying for being first a girl, and second poor. This Mina is... pitiful.
She is not the Mina Harker/Murray Train Fiend, lady journalist, and leader of the group. This girl is only Mina in name, and in typewriter use because this is just a poor teen girl desperately trying to survive in the middle of a hellish school while surrounded by bullies. Drcl Mina is intelligent, but only in information, she tries to document just like Mina Harker, and the narrative conveniently spits on her efforts by having Dracula somehow tamper her precious typewriter.
Even with all of drcl Mina's wits I don't feel the same resolution, and admiration that I felt for Mina Harker in the novel. The manga is only presenting a poor girl named Mina scraping at every small bit of information she can find to somehow explain all of the supernatural shit she is seeing, and the sudden sickness and death of her only friend. I don't want to cheer for this Mina, I want her to grab her bag, and get the hell out of that school and out of Whitby even if it means abandoning Lucy because the conflict feels pointless. It feels like something that she can't win, or fully understand because SHE IS A CHILD.
A child that is trying so hard to be voice of the group while no one listens to her. All of Mina's qualities, and intelligence are not there because the story downright erased the epistolary format that gave her so much charm and character to make way for shock value scenes that only paint Drcl Mina as a pitiful fool going in circles for trying to win against Dracula.
We all know that Jonathan is Mina's other half, the only person who defends her, and loves more than god itself through the whole narrative. However, having Jonathan with Mina in Midnight Children could mean that Mina would have some sort of supporter, and that doesn't make room for tragedy™ so no Jonathan for Mina!
Now, talking about Lucy (Luke). How the fuck Sakamoto decided to make this Lucy a trans girl, then immediatly sexualize her in the most gross way possible. It's a new layer of grossness because in this adaptation is very textual that Lucy is trapped inside Luke, and she has to pretend to be a boy in front of everyone else except when she is alone with Mina.
It could have been a sweet, but rather tragic story about Lucy trying to overcome her own internal battle with her gender along with her trying to make sense of her upcoming tragedy masked as a chronic illness.
But no, this Lucy is passive, midly cruel, and reduced to a puppet device for gross sexual scenes that borderlines on transphobic voyeurism. Remember that Midnight Children Lucy is a TEEN.
She never lifts a finger to make the suitors stop their bullying towards Mina despite her calling her "my only friend." She never tells Mina of any pranks, nor consoles her in her lowest moments. This Lucy is every adaptation Lucy that paints her as the whore to the madonna, and somehow becomes more useless because of the rampant sexism, and the perceived sexualization that will always follow Lucy's character despite her being a symbol of purity, and the perfect victim.
Just to tell you that the first encounter between Lucy and Dracula here is on the Whitby shore, but instead of being a glance of red eyes that incites dread, teenager Lucy is alone when wolf Dracula steps on Whitby soil, and something really gross it's implied for shock value, and I had to put the phone down, and take a moment.
ALSO STOP DRAWING 15 YEARS OLD LUCY NAKED JUST STOP. IT WILL NEVER LOOK ETHEREAL NO MATTER HOW MANY FUCKING FLOWERS YOU DRAW ON THE PANEL BECAUSE THE FOCUS IS ON LUCY BEING NAKED. THERE IS LITERALLY A FUCKING PANEL WHERE LUCY IS COMPLETELY NAKED, AND EVERYONE (INCLUDING ADULT VAN HELSING) JUST STARES, AND IT HAS EVERY SINGLE INSULT ON THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, and that scene is so cheap edgy that I can't.
Also all of the symbolism, and mystery of the bloofer lady is gone because here vampire Lucy graphically kills the children she feeds from, so... another plot line into the trash.

I was meaning to add something earlier in my response about why people probably portray the Hakuba-Kaito relationship the way they do, when I saw someone point out that Hakuba is not present in the story from the last chapter of his introduction (Akako's Delivery Service) to Golden Eye. Though technically he's present in the same story during Twilight Mansion, set between those two stories, that doesn't fully count for the purpose of the point here, because they're surrounded by other people, other detectives, and there's never a spare moment during the case, which only takes one night.
It probably isn't much at all to mention, but when I thought about just how long the absence seems to be, it made me wonder why that might have been such a thing.
It's not impossible that Hakuba was simply in class but not causing a scene, but I would say it's unlikely. Whenever Hakuba's nearby, Kaito seems to pay attention, or Hakuba draws attention to himself. That said, the animated Red Tear special has him simply reading in class, which supports that
It seems just as likely that Hakuba really was absent for a while - in the Detective Koshien case, however, it's stated he's been away in England for a while, and has just recently returned. So, he went home.
This is supported also in the manga by how during the Clocktower heist flashback (i.e, some weeks/months before the Black Pearl, since Shinichi's his normal size) someone directly says "I haven't seen Saguru-kun, the son of superintendent Hakuba, lately" and Nakamori explains that yes, "Apparently he's returned to London to finish an unsolved case of his."
What strikes me is that he's introduced, he attends a heist, he asks Kid why he's doing what he's doing, he gets the response "aren't you the detective? shouldn't you be figuring that out?", he then figures out who, attending two more heists in the process, and his last appearance in MK before Golden Eye has him staring as Akako flies off on her broom, dressed as Kid.
My running theory at the moment is that he might have spent that time away from Japan not just solving cases elsewhere, but also using the time and distance to actually go over what he knows, and take Kaito's words at their first meeting to heart.
He starts asking himself questions: why did Kaito start stealing? Why is the Kid Nakamori knows about older, and why is this Kid his age? If he has assistants, then why would they be helping him? (Fascinatingly, if he has any idea that it'd been Akako under the top hat that one time, it doesn't get in the way of his canon crush on her.)
If this is the case, I'd love to be able to have seen him actually in the thinking state for any of the conclusions he's come to. Does he tell or talk to anyone else? Does his housekeeper know his hypotheses, or... is it just him who knows what he's put together?
And carrying on from that, it'd make sense if the TL;DR is that there's an aspect of "I am removing myself from the situation until it makes sense to me, and you aren't going to complicate matters by confusing me before I've figured it (and you) out, so I'll be back when I have my head around you a bit better."
With that in mind, his subsequent appearances might make sense in the light of him being called back, but he goes from "not being sure what he feels yet" to "helping Kaito out from all the way over in Paris."
I've also seen people suggest that it's only during this time away from the plot that he gets Watson, who he'd never mentioned before. Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, it could have been both at the same time. Or he could have had Watson before his introduction and it simply wasn't relevant.
Actually - I wonder if part of him needing to take time away from Japan was that he needed to sort out, in his own time, and in his own head, how far he'd be willing to go to help someone society had labelled a criminal? It's so easy for me to read Hakuba as autistic that I barely think about it, but if he is and that's the case, then the transition from "solves all sorts of crimes" to "casually helping a known international thief" can't have been an easy one for someone who must have had pretty strong feelings about the law in order to want to become a detective in the first place, and with so many cases solved, right?
Which then makes his absence have a twofold reason: to figure out Kaito, and to figure out himself, in relation to Kaito.

12. Royal verse
(Re: part two of fic ideas I’ll never get to)
I have to start by saying I have no business dreaming of this verse cause I know nothing about medieval times nor about royal family/court dynamics. That being said, I did have a dream and I continued the verse in my head. It’s been a while so I probably forgot a lot, here goes!
• it’s gonna be set back in the day with like swords and horses (dragons?) and stuff but I’m making it up as I go cause again this is not my realm (I guess like King Arthur/GOT shit except I know nothing about either of those fandoms)
• the Kudo family is in power and with Shinichi being their only heir, he’s obviously the next King. He takes this role very seriously and genuinely wants to be a good ruler
• the Miyanos are from a neighboring kingdom and an alliance would be beneficial to both of them, so an arrangement is set up
• neither of them want to marry each other, they haven’t even met in person, but they also know they don’t have a say so they accept their fate
• first impressions are kinda eh, but it could be worse. Shiho notes some baggage that she could care less about, but she does make friends with Kaito because I believe in kaishi supremacy (a brotp in this verse though sadly. I’ll have to dream of the stable boy steals the queen fic another day)
• they get married and do all the things a proper married future king and queen should do. There is a learning curve to get over during intimate times, but he gets it eventually. Even if they’re not in love, he does care about her pleasure which surprises her a lot
• slowly over the course they fall for each other, him more quickly cause this is my fic. But alas there is a kingdom to rule and a threat has been made on the Miyano’s land by a mutual enemy
• it gains momentum and Shiho cannot sit by and wait, so she asks to go home. She is of course denied since her job is to produce an heir which they have not been able to do despite trying. It’s only been a few months though, but you know how these things are
• she doesn’t listen and stows away anyway, Shinichi finds out and goes off after her even though the court does not approve. He does find her and saves her, but a lot of shit is happening and it’s way too dangerous to stay. She does manage to get in contact with her sister who tells her to leave and she promises to stay safe
• unfortunately the kingdom falls, her parents are killed and Akemi is nowhere to be found. This of course means war. But again as Shinichi isn’t the official king yet, the main concern is still to produce an heir. But knowing how these two have a rebellious streak, they’re sent away to another location until she conceives
• now of course she is not gonna be in the mood when her family has just been slaughtered. Which he also understands and meanwhile he wants to go back home to help defend their land. Their plans escaping leads no where, they’re not allowed to leave
• the tides turn in their favor, with part of her former land reclaimed and thus they’re allowed back on home grounds. But mostly because she is carrying their child now
• which means he can officially take over and be king now, while his parents retire and take over other responsibilities (most likely meaning gaining more land cause that’s all people in power care about). But of course they settle the war first, and they win.
• Shiho waits for news from her sister that never comes (admittedly I haven’t decided if she lived or not… we’re officially at the part of the fic where I’m just making it up as I go right now cause I can’t remember what my actual plan was) Shinichi grows on her and she does allow herself to actually fall in love with him. He’s been so supportive and he’s really good to her
• everything is good. He’s officially king, his queen is also in love with him and they’re about to welcome their first child. But that’s too easy, so of course someone who escaped the terrors of the Miyano’s kingdom collapsing found refuge here in the Kudos land but grew resentment and starts a rebellion to overthrow them
• it doesn’t exactly work, but they do find traitors within the realm. A beautiful baby girl is born and the kingdom is in celebration, Shinichi is thrilled even though the courts are upset and demand they try and have another child immediately because it needs to be a boy
• okay this is the reason why I don’t think I’ll be able to write this fic, cause while dreaming this verse my mind would not allow them to get their happy ending cause things keep going wrong every time they achieve it. Because the one person that started the rebellion is to be executed anyway so he decides to take his revenge which unfortunately means Shinichi ends up having to choose to save his wife or daughter
• he does try to save both, but he fails. And Shiho hates him for it. She thinks she’s cursed, she keeps losing her family. She still doesn’t know if her sister is alive and her daughter is now gone. All she has left is Shinichi, but before they even got together she had her whole family
• she obviously goes into a depressive state. And of course yet another invasion is happening cause news of a rebellion got out, so of course enemies are trying to strike when they think the kingdom is weak. Shinichi is stretched way too thin having to manage an impending war while his queen is plotting her own demise
• he decides to fix one problem at a time and try to do it without bloodshed first. So a pretend everything is going great gala is arranged. Shiho does play her role and fools everyone into thinking everything is fine when she is very much not. She still mourns, but her duty to her people forces her to pull it together for one night
• she’s gone by morning light. Shinichi goes mad trying to find her, only glad that talks of war have quieted down (thanks to his parents negotiating with other kingdoms and them fooling the rest that they’re fine, why else would they throw a party?) He finds her on the outskirts of town, she doesn’t want to see him since she still blames him for the loss of their child (though if we’re honest she’s more upset with herself)
• he apologizes (he did before also) and proclaims his love which she does not accept. He begs her to give them another chance (not that she has a choice cause divorce is not a thing here. She would just have to die or he dies, but she’s thinking the former) she refuses, but he’s the king so he wins so they go back to the island where they were forced to stay at until they conceived
• it’s also where they chose to keep their child’s gravesite. It was too painful for either of them to bear seeing it, so they chose to keep it here. And now all Shiho does is sit by her child’s tombstone
• the court has no heart and demands he produce an heir, but given the Queen’s inability to do so (since in their eyes it took them too long to conceive a child the first time plus it was a girl) so they take matters into their own hands, choosing other maidens who would be more than willing to carry the future heir to the kingdom (and maybe become Queen themselves in the process) This pisses Shinichi off, he makes it clear he will only have children with the woman he loves
• meanwhile this only adds to Shiho’s thinking that being born as a woman is a curse and this is her punishment for thinking she could be happy. Perhaps it’s a good thing her daughter will never get the chance to go through the same process as she is right now
• Shinichi refuses to be seduced and instead finally decides to sit with Shiho who wakes each morning to mourn their child. He normally waits until she finally sleeps at night to talk to their daughter himself, he didn’t want to trigger her more but evidently it’s not working. But also because he hates to admit that he failed
• he mans up and holds her, confessing his own guilt and how he wished it was him instead. He failed at being a father before he really got the chance, how can he be a good ruler is he can’t even protect his own family. Shiho stops blaming him, now that she knows he’s just as torn up about this as she is
• they actually try and have another child. They did try before during their grieving but it was more going through the motions and made them both feel worse. Eventually they managed to conceive again, but it takes a long while
• maybe they’re not meant to be parents together, she doesn’t understand why it’s not working. There must be something wrong with her. The kingdom needs an heir, so she gives her permission for him to have a child with someone else. He refuses, doubling down that he will only have a child with her
• they fall more in love with each other in the process and to help alleviate the stress of making babies. She starts getting into running a country. She was trained to do so for her own land, but now that she belongs to her husband she’s told to stay out of it. Shinichi values her opinion, especially knowing how smart she is, she was the key to several victories they held during the war and she was able to keep the people of the kingdom happy while he was away at the line of duty
• as assassination attempt is made on her life since women have no place in power and she isn’t even pregnant. Shinichi saves her, but she decides she hates being a damsel so she starts to take self defense lessons. At first he didn’t like it, thinking of himself as a failure that she has to learn to fight for herself. But she convinces him, if she had been able to hold her own in a fight then maybe they would still have to see daughter
• he allows her lessons to continue, but he insists on being her sparring partner (this is just because I want my golden otp represented, cause this is such a thing for my true otp) anyways they probably end up conceiving during one of these sessions
• it’s a boy this time! And everything is finally going great again. Except there is a jealous person who was promised by the court power and now that’s all gone. So another assassination attempt is made, but this time on Shinichi’s life
• Shinichi doesn’t hesitate to protect both Shiho and their baby, not realizing he is the target this time. Luckily the swordsman missed the mark and was apprehended but Shinichi is pretty badly hurt. Shiho has nightmares about this and spends the whole time by his side with their child, nursing him back to health
• because this is just gonna keep going if I don’t end it, and I really cannot deal with angst or mcd. We are going to say they lived happily ever after and nothing bad ever happens again (even though it probably does)

Time for the Kainan headcanons! Also requests are open my darlings, so go ahead! ✨
Tumblr media
"Kainan edition"
Nobunaga Kiyota:
When we think about Nobu the image of Hanamichi goes to our minds, those two look so similar but are completely different. There a lof times that Kiyota feels stressed about playing basketball. Being in the Kainan basketball team sure means you're more than skilled but requires a lot of mental strength as well. Although he is indeed a super rookie, Kiyota has second thoughts about how good he truly is making him lack self-esteem so he tries bragging about himself in order to feel better.
Nobunaga is someone fun to have around although he gets kinda whiny when tired. He likes going on an adventure and his enthusiasm is as big as a little kid's. He doesn't get tired easily but when he does it means he can't give more and has to rest. He is very energetic and loves playing basketball during the summer afternoons.
Deep down he believes Rukawa has some kind of secret for playing that good and tries to figure it out. He doesn't like it at all when Maki yells at him because he looks up to him and wishes to become the next captain. In general Nobunaga is someone who needs encouragement and love.
Shinichi Maki:
The incredible captain of the Kainan team. He is the person every other player is jealous of. But not only because of his skills of course. You see, Maki is really good with girls as well. He is very well mannered and has his way with words, knowing exactly what to say every time he approaches a girl.
He doesn't like it when people are in a rush, no one achieved anything by being hasty. Good things take time and effort to happen and he knows that. Maki is pretty romantic and Kiyota usually makes fun of him for that. He likes taking things slow and enjoys learning more about the person he is interested in.
When he has free time he likes reading and writing as well. He isn't going to share it with anyone, he simply does it for fun but he is actually an excellent writer. Also, his hair becomes a mess every time he sleeps. It takes a lot of time to make it look good so he usually wakes 30 minutes earlier than someone else would in order to get ready. Maki is definitely a sweet person, he just needs his time.
Shoichiro Jin:
Prettiest boy ever, I love him. Jin always had some trouble feeling accepted in sports, especially in basketball. Because he is someone very well mannered just like Maki, and someone who takes care of his appearance people though he probably wouldn't make it. He proved them wrong in so many ways.
He and Kiyota are close, they are really good friends. They basketball together on their free time or watch movies. Jin loves movies with plot twists, movies that keep you intrigued from the start until the end. He is also interested in fashion. He and Maki sometimes go shopping together. They have a similar taste.
Even though he always smiles and is very polite, he is actually competitive and can act tough at times. He tries his best to get along with everyone and supports his teammates. Shoichiro is someone really fun to hang out with and can give you a useful piece of advice.
Kazuma Takasago:
Probably Akagi number two. Only in appearance though. Takasago differs from every one of his teammates. Unlike Kiyota, he is really quiet and doesn't like raising his voice much. Even when he is excited or enthusiastic about something.
He spends his free time reading sports magazines while listening to music. He isn't the type of person that likes going outside much, he prefers staying home.
He tries his best to prove he deserves playing in the Kainan basketball team. He really appreciates his teammates and looks up to them. I would say he is a kind but really anxious person that needs encouragement.
I hope you liked it! Next one is Shoyo! ✨💚

Horaaa! Donbura Don! Taro Tuesday is winding down. Kinda like a rager continuing well into the night after everybody should've gone home. I would've done this yesterday or earlier today, but y'know how it is, right?
Anyways, Tarou gets adopted this episode, I think. Spoilers, I guess...
-Dragon Jirou and Tiger Jirou. His two fursonas are constantly fighting for control in his mind.
-Koichiro?
-Like, Koichiro Iketani, leader of the Akita Speed Stars!?
-...good taste, ma'am.
-Eeeeeeeel!
-Ah, the Shirokuma Boys are still kickin', I see. See, why can't you fellas be as supportive as Jirou's village, huh?
-"...oh fuck, he's in another one of his situations, huh?"
-"Roll with it, free eel."
-Bit harsh, huh Haruka?
-Ahhhhh, Murasame-kun! Yeah, I miss him too, how is he doin'?
-Ah, Tsuyoshi's an iced coffee guy. Based.
-Tomoko Higashi.
-Haruka, you're not being particularly helpful.
-Ohhhh, Shinichi knows her, huh? What kinda advice did you give her, eh? 'Imagine your son being right there?'
-Gotta learn some piano, right?
-I'd pay good money to see Shinichi as a guest on Real Time Fandub, he seems like he's got the chops for it.
-I wonder... if Tarou's lying with his body instead of his words, does that perhaps imply that he's breaking out into hives under his clothing?
-Man, this is a whole other level of awkward.
-Don't question why Koichirou-kun suddenly has a case of Sonic Adventure mouth, he just came home from Station Square.
-"Ohhhhhhh, I think I'm suffering internal bleeding."
-"My final rating for this shougayaki... is a Twenty-times ten..."
-Oooooh, butterfish...
-"This is that quarry in Ibaraki where they film those
-"This is that rock quarry in Ibaragi they use to film those tokusatsu shows, isn't it? Awesome! I can't believe I'm here! This is where they filmed Series/KamenRiderZiO, you know?!"
-"Shut up, you fool!"
-"Oh, okay."
-P
-Puberty
-Shinichi, I believe Tarou's a bit past puberty at this point.
-"I can't play piano."
-OH DON KAITO JUST HAD THAT THING BACK THERE HUH
-...I'm trying to think back to, like, the Colorful set, and I'm trying to picture what this room replaced. I realize there's likely no Yatsude who'd sleep here, but
-Wow... yeah, that's a nice little rendition. ...I wonder though, is it diegetic?
-Ohhhh... Don Kaito... I wonder... has something perhaps happened to this world's Yatsude?
-Oh shit, a ninja! Wait... We've had the Shuriken-ki in a previous episode, and I believe Ninpuu-Ki shows up in the movie, therefore... :O
-KAKURANGER NINJA NINJA!
-Yeah, so, Kakuranger's one of my top 10 favorite Sentai, so obviously this means Inoue is pandering to me in specific to make up for that scene from last episode where Tsubasa enjoys dog food. ...or perhaps to punish me even more, who's to say?
-I imagine we'll get to meet
-Speak of the devil, here comes Tsubasa with the save!
-Right, so that guy's obviously Koichirou.
-Ehhhh, idk Tomoko-san, he seems kinda naked without a bright red tie on him. I mean, you gotta go all the way, right?
-"This drip is scored at 14.1421356 squared. ...plus 0.000001."
-Dial it back, monkey man.
-Oh.
-Oh no.
-Not gonna lie, I kinda need moment.
-"That's cringe, boy!"
-"YOU'RE cringe!"
-See, it's not enough to just to lie on its own, you have to support that lie.
-See, Tsuyoshi seems to be better at this.
-DUDE YOU DON'T HAVE TO YELL SO MUCH
-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
-TSUYOSHIIIII
-Oh God, do I even wanna finish? I'm getting so much secondhand embarassment hjkk;lhk
-"YOU GOT MARRIED AT 21!? ...with that cringe-ass wabisabi? I didn't realize you lived in the 1950s!"
-...is Tsuyoshi venting about his own mother right now?
-Oh my God, he is.
-Haruka, you're up! ...I think I'm having a headache right now lhjkh
-.
-Okay, I think my headache has evolved into a full on headshot from a sniper rifle.
-CRAP
-"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SON, YOU BITCH!?"
-"A reason... to live..."
-Ohhhhhh :(
-"FUCK YOUUUUUU"
-"I'M GOING APESHIT"
-"...what the hell is wrong with you guys?"
-Oh hey, Tiger Jirou's here.
-Don Torabolt!
-"Move it, puny ape!"
-Damn, Dragon Jirou's fighting it.
-Robotaro!
-Man, Shinichi's about to blow a vessel.
-Our boy(s) Jirou, pulling his/their weight...
-Well, at least they're working together effectively.
-...to an extent.
-Idk if I've said it, but the music used for Toradorajin is super cool.
-Big Ninja!
-Oh, they can just... detach from each other.
-Man, the inevitable team up is gonna be fantastic.
-"Momoi Tarou, the mailman."
-Tomoko-san...
-Again with the Nocturne...
-It's one of my favorite Chopin pieces, so I'm not complaining.
-That was one of the preview shots from last week, right?
-...man, there's not a lot of similarity between Koichirou and Tarou, huh?
-NOOOOOO TSUYOSHI GOT FIRED
-FUCK
-I'm about to go Hitotsu-ki.
-...Hikonin-Ki, maybe?
-Ah well, whatever. I think I'm gonna go lie down and listen to Chopin's Nocturne for a while. ...alright, bye.
-10 seconds to spare!

BLUE GIANT EXPLORER, Vol. 6 - Memories of Buck Roll
Why don't they come down from the stage? Volume 6 of "BLUE GIANT EXPLORER" has been released. Who is that on the cover? It's a strange beginning.
Tumblr media
reference:Shogakukan Comics URL:https://shogakukan-comic.jp/book?isbn=9784098613694
I have been reading "BLUE GIANT" since the first part, "BLUE GIANT". I thought I had, and I did.
'2020 will be a year of leaps and bounds! This is one of the "10 manga that will push you forward".
I wondered how you chose 10 of them, but I think these 10 works are good. I thought I would make a new selection with the same theme at the end of this year.
Now, the previous volume, BLUE GIANT EXPLORER, ended with the beginning of the saxophone recital at the saxophone school where Dai is a teacher, and volume 6 is the continuation of that.
Volume 5 was released a while ago, so I had almost forgotten the contents, but then I remembered that Steve, the teacher of this saxophone class, is a cool guy.
Apparently, Mr. Steve is respected by everyone. But for a while, only his name came up. And when he finally appeared on the stage, I think there was a scene in which Dai was in tears because he realized in an instant that he was a person worthy of respect as he thought he was.
Mr. Shinichi Ishizuka is very good at creating expectations for his characters. He makes you think, "There is definitely something going on with this guy," and then he explodes later on. Good or not so good. As soon as the presentation starts, I find myself mentally tsk-tsking at Dai for not coming off stage, "Is he going to stay on the side the whole time? I thought it was funny when Dr. Steve asked Dai, "Why does he stay on the side all the time? I wonder why he is there.
But that is the nature of a big-production show, and by giving direct guidance and advice, he is supporting the students so that they can perform to the best of their ability and confidence.
It is true that there is a difference in the sense of security between having a teacher by your side and not having a teacher by your side. Naturally, this also affects performance.
Memories of Bakudan Class I remember an interview about eight years ago. I went to a backflip class and tried backflipping in one day! It was a project for a magazine. At the time, the topic of conversation was the bakusho class. The main purpose of the class was to help adults with no gymnastics experience learn to do backflips.
Usually, it was a regular gymnastics class, with mats and balance tables for children and students to learn on, but the bakutai class was held in a corner of the gym. Students usually learn backflips in several sessions, so there is no inherent "one day to do it" constraint. However, some people can do it in a day once they get the hang of it. This is why I decided to experience it.
For some reason, I went out in a long T-shirt and denim style, even though I was supposed to be practicing bakumotai. I don't know why I didn't bring a change of clothes. Did I think I could borrow them at the site? Anyway, when I arrived and the teacher asked me, "Are you going to do it dressed like that?" I remember thinking, "Oh no, I'm not going to do it like that. The teacher must have thought, "Is this guy going to do it? I am sure the teacher must have wondered, "Is he going to do it like that?
The practice of backflips started right away.
The practice is divided into several stages: first we practice jumping straight up, and once that is done, the next stage is to jump and sit on the mat behind us, and so on, learning the posture and eye contact during backflips. Then, in no time at all, they enter the stage of trying to go around with assistance. I think it was two teachers assisting me from the left and right as I jumped backwards. I was able to jump. I was on a trampoline, so I had more jumping power, and with assistance, I could manage to do a backflip. Once you get used to it, you can practice to fly by yourself by loosening the assistance. The footing is on a regular mat, and the landing is on a trampoline.
Eventually, the teacher's assistance was removed, and I managed to do backflips by myself. However, even though the teacher no longer assisted me, she was right next to me and in my line of sight, ready to follow me at any time. Now that I had somehow gotten into shape, it was time to take the picture.
I asked the teacher to move away from me until I was out of the picture, but as soon as he did, the shape immediately collapsed and I failed. No matter how many times I tried, I always failed unless the teacher was right next to me. When I asked the teacher to come to the side again and try it again, I could do it. However, if they move away, they cannot do it.
I realized that even if the teacher is not holding out his or her hand, there is a huge difference in the sense of security between having the teacher by your side and not having him or her there. After many attempts, I managed to do a backflip with the teacher away from me, but it was really only one last attempt. Looking back, I don't know why I took on this project, but I think it was because I was young and had the guts to do it. I was in a state of adrenaline. I think the fact that I was in an adrenaline-fueled state of "I must do it!
After the interview was over, as we were leaving, the editor said, "If Mr. Nakamura couldn't do it, I was going to do it myself. He told me that when he was a student, he had learned to do backflips as part of his pole vaulting practice in the track team. He said, "You are saying that now? I said rather loudly, "I'm glad I could do it by myself. I also wanted to talk about the tremendous power of teacher support.
If only Yumeko Snake Plumeko were here… Back to BLUE GIANT, the big produced presentation ends with a great success.
Oh, by the way, Antonio has been the piano accompanist all along. How did we meet…? You will have to go back and read volume 5. In the second half of the book, we pop into a Houston jazz bar to look for band members. And then you meet Zod. He is the guy on the cover. He is the drummer.
He is big and bulky to look at. He is blunt and has no respect for the big guy. If he were a bad drummer, he would be a mere contrarian, but he is not. He has a session with Antonio to compete, but he walks away without ever fully demonstrating his abilities.
In the past, after one performance, he would say, "This guy is good," and become a member of the group, but this is a new pattern for him to leave the group while hiding his abilities.
After being rejected by Zod, Dai and Antonio go to a poker house where Zod is staying. And they have a poker match. Volume 6 ends with them wondering if they can win even though they are beginners. The result will be carried over to the next volume. I didn't expect the last pull to be at a casino. I can't help but wish that Yumeko Snake Plumeko was here.
I just hope that Dai doesn't become a poker player.

Remember when I wrote how I love the tragedy of Shinichi and Ran's romantic relationship? Now it's Kaito and Aoko's turn🙂
Kaito who flinches at every insult Aoko slings at Kaitou's KID way, but they're always hidden behind his mastered pokerface.
It hurts more than he likes to acknowledge to hear every insult, every curse, against Kaitou KID and his existence but not because she's saying them to him, about him, but because Kaitou KID is, and always will be, his father's legacy. It's the reason his father died, was murdered, for, trying to protect the world from a shadow they don't yet know exists but will gleefully hurt the world when it gets what it wants.
A petty thief. As if that's all his father was.
At one point he was resolved to tell her the truth, about Kaitou KID, about his father, when the hunt was over and the world was safe but after every failed heist, after watching Aoko's insults get harsher and the anger in her eyes grow, he finds the courage he had once possessed faded from his tongue.
Aoko is just so angry and Kaitou KID is her outlet. The anger started when she saw her her father overworking himself with the chance of redemption, skipped meals and sleep, leading to a cold and empty house the day the thief strikes.
Then it's not just meals being skipped. It's Aoko saying hi in the morning to get no reply, it's her putting effort into making her father food she know he needs only to find him already gone without a goodbye. It's coming home to see the food she had placed for her father to see, to take for dinner instead, still sitting on the counter, untouched. She ends up eating his portion for dinner in his stead, alone in the kitchen with nothing but the hum of appliances to keep her company.
Aoko is like a ghost in her father's presense when the thief makes an appearance. Sometimes she wonders if she really is, cursed to watch her father spiral into obsession and helpless to do anything to stop it.
At first she smiled through it and reasoned that it's only when the thief appears but for their family KID doesn't disappear when the heist ends.
She has to watch her father put himself back together after every humilating defeat. It's having to hear-watch-see her father and the men who follow his lead be ridiculed for not catching him. Her father, who works himself until he starves, until he passes out, mocked for his efforts and Aoko is supposed to find a joke in that?
It hurts the most to see her best friend, the one she thinks she loves, take part in the "fun".
For Kaito though, after every failed heist (though no one but him knows they were), after all the danger he put himself through, seeing the darkest sides of humanity as he walks along the edge between good and evil, he needed to laugh and find joy in what he does.
And he does because being Kaitou KID was like finding a piece of himself he never knew was missing.
he thief was originally just a suit, a shadow following in his father's footsteps to put his soul at rest, but the more he slipped into the act of the sinner in white, the more performances he put on for the public, the suit of a man he had always seen as greater than him had turned into his second skin, a place he belonged.
He didn't want to hurt Aoko. He didn't want to hurt officer Nakamori either, the man was a surrogate father to him when his own was cruely taken from him.
But he wouldn't stop. He couldn't stop. To stop being himself.
The idea of telling Aoko some day, of the laughing it off and her accepting all of him, he's come to accept was just a pipe dream. Maybe once she would have accepted him, worried for him and supported him, but a world where that happened was a world he was putting her in danger and he could never let that happen.
But as much as KID was another side of him, it was also the cause of the pain in Aoko's eyes. Now Kaito didn't just hide the truth from her to protect her from the shadows, but from the futher pain the truth would do to her.
He was protecting her from himself.
He had to choose and choose he had. He dons the white cape once again and greets his audience with a shark grin and regret hidden behind a monocle.
Tomorrow Aoko will scream and rant to the heavens about KID, her anger a mask for the pain and loneliness she feels. Tomorrow Kaito will bear the insults and just laugh them off like they were just a joke, like he didn't feel like he was being stabbed with knives of hurt and guilt.
Neither will acknowledge the growing rift between them.
Acknowledging it will make it real.

CA headcanons that im too lazy to draw or have no idea how to write
Putting them together to keep my brainrot ongoing and ONE DAY draw them...
Shinichi/Conan:
- i am a firm believer in glasses shinichi. i know glasses for this character is stupid lore integral but i literally don't care. My basis is that repercussions of being shrunken takes form in the slightest ways, such as weaker immune system plus weaker vision. it was inevitable anyway as well, given his bad screen practices and genes. he wears circular glasses though as shinichi and only wears it at home, and vehemently refuses to be seen outdoors with glasses.
- that post that's like, "i love my men with blood on their hands and traumatized"? i love to hc b.o takedowns where he actually kills gin. shoots him. Fucking murders him and destroys his principles. i need him to actually face a stake in his life and be it this sort of loss??? so much room for growth.
- contrary to how hes portrayed, even if he praises holmes as his god, he genuinely does read other mystery novels. often seen with a pocket mystery novel
- tbh. i think of them as different people but not haibara/shiho as different people Hahahah!! I love the idea of growth in the form edogawa conan. I think in a no antidote route, conan is less serious, still snarky, but more willing to tease. exceptionally casual and confident, but humbled with scars. Understands his limits but also very sweet to his gf
- in a no antidote route, i also hc conan to be more explorative. my conan experiments everything with his two bros mitsuhiko and genta, praises them both, and actually wants to find a seperate hobby that makes him different from the shadow he once was
- in a no antidote route he also dyes his hair a lighter brown to be different
- hes closer to mitsuhiko! in fact he is so proud of mitsuhiko very often, and supports him where he can. they study together. he and genta are both in soccer teams, and they go to practice together and hang out with the team
- also i am in firm belief he can be a romantic if hes not thinking about it. but sometimes he does know what hes doing. and is pretty damn good at it.
- unsurprisingly easily jealous but isn't that petty about it
Shiho/Ai:
I have lesser HCs for haibara bc i actually am fine for the most part with the canon supplement material. i just feel bad for her lol i want to save her from the show's canon...but!
- her self destructive behaviour can sometimes cause a wedge between them. he is very patient with her all things regardless, but they have had a fight about it before—and she knows she needs to do better, in order for their relationship to work. He cant always be the only one apologizing
- despite being the one who seems unfallible she's just very good at hiding when she's embarrassed/affected by shin/con. he gets pretty good at figuring this out a few years into their r.s.
- (SA mention) i definitely think she has some kind of unprocessed SA trauma behind her, but contrary to what people may think, she isnt sex-repulsed or unwilling. they have healthy times for it and both of them explore things at their own pace together. she trusts her partner with herself and has found her own autonomy after everything
- i double as a seraran stan but i think she and ran would actually be good friends too!!!!!! even if she wouldn't be as close to her as shin would ever be, they have lunch together once a month as adults and often talk about their partner's tendency to get sucked into cases and their fangs...
- i strongly hc shiho as demisexual/demiromantic. even supposedly if in any canon of mine she doesn't get w shin (unlikely) she takes time to herself and live freely independently until she finds her own partner. i dont think its some cut off goal of hers to get one anyway, she feels loved as she is and is fine with that
- she has trouble voicing when she's touchstarved. he tends to notice, though, and acts quickly. she avoids the feeling vs him being needy about it
- in a no antidote route she experiments growing her hair out once. it felt foreign, and difficult to maintain her curls, so she cut it the next summer. shin liked it either way though
CoAi/ShinShi :
- ShinShi move in together at age 20-21. he proposes relatively early—only after 3 years of dating—but they dont get married until they are like 26. they just kept putting it off lmao
- penthouse apartment in the city. Its luxurious but shiho constantly jokes about the idea they get bombed. shinichi doesnt like it.
- Shin gets his license immediately after turning 20. Shiho tends to do most of the driving still, but they take turns during road trips with the kids
- If ShinShi revealed their identities to the kids (whether the kids figured them out on their own or not), shinichi puts on his conan glasses for them and shiho puts on a similar, adult sized sleeveless turtleneck whenever they're together. they assume the roles of Conan and Ai with them (even going as far as introducing themselves as such to other people with the kids). It gives them a state of normalcy even if they have a larger age gap, intergenerational friendship alongside some parenting.
- they do get two dogs. shiho allows him to name only one of the dogs and of all names he chooses its freaking watson. the other dog is named vivi. short for vivianite, a mineral that can form on decaying corpses. Watson is a german shepherd while vivi is a pomeranian husky mix
Will update if i ever think of more

Is there any hope that Hakuba, Kaito, Heiji gonna have part in taking down BO together with Shinichi, FBI, etc?
Hakuba and Kaito: Absolutely none, as far as canon is concerned. Gosho's used Kaito a bit too much for someone who's been trying to say Kaito won't have anything to do with plot, but even he wouldn't get dragged into the final acts to take on the BO. Hakuba isn't even allowed at KID heists in DC, for some reason, so he never even had a chance at DC plot relevance.
Heiji is a possibility, but as things are now it's unlikely. Shinichi practically forced the FBI to keep him in on their plans with so much direct involvement with the BO. Heiji met Jodie before any government forces were known to be involved with the plot, and has barely touched the big plot outside of being Shinichi's ally.
He's been involved with the edges of the plot, with being Shinichi's support in investigating new and suspicious people, but once the FBI got involved and more government spies got integrated into the story, Heiji's role has downgraded. He's less plot support and more just another side plot with his romance. At best, him getting updated on goings on helps keep the audience up to date on what the characters are working on, but he hasn't really. Been allowed to do much other than be someone who can help Shinichi, specifically. Him being allowed to get involved with the BO directly alongside the FBI just doesn't seem likely as things stand.
Maybe if he get brought back in before the end, he could help with the takedown. Either with a 'here's one of my allies, I think he could be of use' or just accidentally getting on the BO's radar with his support role. (It wouldn't even be that hard, he was with Shinichi in Kyoto when the BO were alerted to Shinichi possibly being alive, and then was the sole voice saying the person on TV was someone else. If the BO does move forward with focusing on Shinichi's possible survival, Heiji should be in trouble. But at the moment, Heiji's moment with that just gave a giant handwave to all that mess and swept it away.)

Shinichi and his dynamic with Teitan high school's students
Okay so I get that in fanfictions, or any other fan content, the characters being a bit 'out of character' is normal, because it really depends on how everyone perceived said character from their own point of view. And I also get that sometimes, making them out of character is entirely on purpose, in order to make the setting of a certain stories possible. Like, some characters need to be more emotional for angst, some characters need to be more careless to allow for character development, and I fully support that! It's your story, so it's your own choice!
However, I'm not really fond of the popular theory, or perception, that Shinichi, in all Teitan's students perspective, is some kind of strange, cool, untouchable, freak detective. Not simply because it is unfair for him, but if you really read the manga, you would know that it has been proven wrong many times.
And like I said, I don't mind if it's just for the sake of the plot. But I don't want others to actually believe this theory is true fact in canon.
Just to be clear, the popular theory seems to say that: Shinichi, while very admirable and popular among the Teitan students, is actually very lonely and only get along with Ran (while Sonoko only tolerate him because of Ran). And while all those students admire him, they didn't want to get close to him, some due to jealousy and the huge difference in status, while others, due to him actually being cold and a freak detective.
Now shall we take a look at all the scene in manga that contradict with that theory?

Okay so let's ignore all the main characters for a second here, and look at the others. Do they look like they don't care about Shinichi? I mean I get that this isn't really a strong point, since it's normal for others to get worried about a stranger, but the fan theory that I'm addressing here really set the bar low anyway. Here, we see that they are concerned about him. They approach him in case they can help, although there was really no need for it since Shinichi was already surrounded by reliable friends. And in the second picture, they watch Shinichi as close as Heiji did. If they really see Shinichi as the cold untouchable detective, they would just at least help him when he passed out and then watch from far. They might even want to gossip about it. They don't have to watch him so closely.
And here:
Tumblr media
I'm not sure how reliable these translations are, but I believe that the students who see him as an idol or the awesome Heisei Holmes are just students from different years and classes. It's normal to idolize people you don't know. And even so, they idolize him in a positive way didn't they? He's the 'saviour of the police force', not 'the freak detective who brings death'.
Meanwhile, the students in the same class as him, the one who really knows him, knows he's just as normal as others:

I might be reading too much into things, but the way Shinichi react to this Tashiro and Hidaka, it seems like he's been a victim of their talkative combination before. And the way they talk about Shinichi is how people normally talk about their friends. "Don't be a dumbo like him" etc.
And this:

And this:

Seriously does he look that distant with them? Do they treat him like an idol? Nakamichi don't even hesitate to run with him into chaos. Shinichi isn't different from them. If Shinichi can save others then Nakamichi can too! Not the slightest hesitation of "wait isn't that just a Kudo thing?".
And look at how Shinichi react to his friends:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's excited to see them, to talk to them. And when they ignore him (for obvious reasons), he almost looks heartbroken. Isn't this clear enough to everyone that Shinichi is not a lone wolf who only care about Ran and cases? He have his own school life, he has his friends other than Ran and Sonoko (I really should find some evidences to prove that Sonoko did see him as a friend and not just.. tolerate him but not now), he's not perfect, he falls asleep in class, prank others, excited when there's a new attractive teacher in school, attacked by talkative gossipy classmates, teased by his friends. Really I get that we don't see much of his interaction with his other high school friends, but I think these little moments right here should be enough, don't you guys think so?

Howdy hey Goop! I had a funny observation with the episode Heiji first appears in (episode 48 I believe.) specifically with the english FUNimation dub.
While he talks about wanting to meet Kudo/always compared to him, he says "I want to see if the great Jimmy (Shinichi) Kudo is talented enough to be in my league, if he is he'll be the first!"
I wonder what he meant by that? Like, as in rivalry, or as in friends? I'd love to hear your interpretation on this, you always have such intriguing opinions and interpretations on things!
Howdy! Thank you!
My response here will actually be fairly heavy and discuss abuse, so please proceed with caution. There will also be minor spoilers for Episode 263.
To really delve into this question, I feel like I have to start by saying that the view I have of Heiji is that of an incredibly insecure person who struggles immensely with feelings of inferiority. No truly confident person would (assumedly) hop on a plane to go "prove" that they're better than a peer in their field. But that's exactly what Heiji does.
And his self-doubt is, sadly, sensical. His father Heizo is Osaka's Chief of Police, who, as Ran states in the man's first appearance (Episode 77), "[is] always on TV whenever something happens in Osaka." Heizo is presented as a huge, well-respected public figure, and that's got to be a lot for Heiji to live up to. Even when Kazuha's father attempts to be encouraging after Heiji is insulted (more on that later), his words only help pile on the pressure (Episode 263):
Tumblr media
Ginshiro Toyama: He's the spitting image of you when you were younger, Heizou. Who knows what he'll grow into?
So, it's no wonder that Heiji is so absolutely desperate to prove himself. He's got big shoes to fill, that he's seemingly expected to fill, and, more than that, every interaction I've seen between him and his father is uncomfortably negative. Despite being a capable, experienced, and well-renowned detective of his own, Heizo constantly dismisses his son and his abilities, only ever complimenting Heiji when it's paired with a stinging barb. The first time you ever see the two on screen together (Episode 77), I'm not sure if Heizo comes off worse in the original Japanese script (top) or in FUNimation's English localization (bottom):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heizo (Japanese script): He's still green, but he's got good intuition.
Heizo (FUNimation English dub script): But don't be deceived by his appearance. He's actually a whole lot smarter than he looks.
...well, in retrospect, maybe it's obvious that the English dub makes it so much worse.
But the point is, Heizo isn't portrayed as an especially supportive father. As far as I've watched, he never once says that he's proud of Heiji, and his insults only grow to be more degrading after this initial snapshot of their relationship. When even Kogoro applauds Heiji's work in Episode 263, Heizo can only belittle him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kogoro: Like father, like son! He solved that case in record time.
Heizo: No, this dull-witted son of mine just likes to play detective sometimes. He's got a long way to go to catch up to you, Mouri.
Later in the episode, Heizo even physically assaults Heiji, going so far as to draw blood, in front of a crowd of people:
Tumblr media
Heiji: Dad...
And as if that wasn't enough, he verbally assaults Heiji, too, flinging insult after insult at him (and this is really only a small sampling):
Tumblr media
Heizo: He's just getting in the way! The spoiled brat let all this nonsense about "high school detectives" go to his head.
I know I've kind of been dancing around the original question here, but I think this background is crucial. While it might be argued that Heizo is simply trying to keep his son humble through his brand of parenting, I feel like his behavior and treatment of Heiji has instead helped nurture something very sad: a boy who gallivants around acting the exact opposite of humble to conceal the fact that he's dangerously insecure.
After all, as I said before, no truly confident person would (assumedly) hop on a plane to go "prove" that they're better than somebody else. Why would they?
So, when Heiji says that he wants to "[confirm] whether or not the great Jimmy [Shinichi] Kudo is talented enough to be in [his] league" in FUNimation's English dub of Episode 48, or that he "[wants to] see if Kudo Shinichi's really worthy of being compared to [him]" in the original Japanese script...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heiji: I wanna see if Kudo Shinichi's really worthy of being compared to me.
I see a boy so desperately trying to convince himself that he is good at what he does. If he can best Shinichi—the person he's compared so much to in FUNimation's dub that he's even robbed of his own name, known by some only as "The Kudo of the West"—then it means he's not the dull-witted detective his father (at least openly) thinks of him as. It means he's not a worthless embarrassment.
That's how I view it, anyway. I don't think Heiji sought to befriend Shinichi at all when he left for Tokyo, or that he was looking for someone "worthy" of being his friend, but part of what I like so much about Heiji and Shinichi's eventual friendship is that it starts when Shinichi tells Heiji to stop with the comparisons and competitions. So much of Heiji's life has been defined by comparison; even when people around him are trying to treat him kindly, he's still compared to his father, and, of course, he's also compared to Shinichi.
But in that classic moment, Shinichi doesn't compare Heiji to anyone. He explains straight out that he sees no point in it. And I think that's really, endlessly freeing to Heiji, and it's part of why he admires and loves Shinichi as much as he does.
