For your silly Descendants prompts, how about Diego drops Beezlebub (Carlos' cat) on his head at family day after the barrier is taken down while he is talking to a baffled Radcliffe family and Dude?
...I might have taken slight creative liberations with this prompt. I’ve decided that this would do a decent continuation for this prompt, so. But! Diego is here! And Belzebub too!
Also. I don’t have any favourites. How dare you even suggest that. (The author laughs nervously and hides these entire story behind their back.)
Anyway, de Vil cousins being drama queens! Enjoy!
„Hey! Hold that cat of yours!“
„Shut up–“
„Give me back my fucking necklace, it’s a family heirloom–“
„You stole it from our Aunt just last week!“
„An heirloom, duh. Now give it back!“
„The fucking seven times damned cat is in my bloody face!“
As Carlos hears the voices of his cousins and the other new arrivals from the Isle, he winces: He cannot help but question his life choices slightly.
Only slightly though. It does seem like they brought his cat back.
He looks around: The band (shocked into silence), the decorations (highly flammable), the young king (still smiling).
The limo, now still, the driver just about to open the doors.
Carlos smiles too, and if anyone was looking at him, they might have described the smile as manic.
Alas, no one is paying attention to him. But that’s fine. His cousins are just making a spectacle of themselves, as usual.
Carlos grins wider.
Diego steps out of the limousine first; he scowls at the light (or possibly just at the go-to pastel fashion of Auradon), and then exclaims: „Look – they have a band here!“
Mal pouts, and while Ben comforts her (he has the spirit, okay?), Carlos snickers. He missed his cousins, okay?
„Fuck your bands, Diego,“ says Ivy, pushing him aside, „It’s so fucking bright in here, it’s hurting my eyes.“ She goes silent for a moment, then gestures vaguely to Mal and Ben.
„That is hurting my eyes too. Does anyone have sunglasses?“
And why, yes, she is definitely talking about Mal’s frilly soft pink below-the-knee dress.
Jay nudges his ribs and whispers: „See you soon, man; cover for me,“ for, you see, Jade has perused Ivy’s chaos to sneak out of the focus, and the Agrabah cousins don‘t need an audience for their reunion.
Carlos flashes Jay a quick gesture for „I’ve got your back,“ and refocuses back on the limo.
Then Hunter, who helps out little Dizzy; Evie squeaks and almost runs over to greet her friend and hug her, her mother’s etiquette lessons notwithstanding.
Behind Jade, scowling Claudine Frollo exited the car, and damn it, her eyes–
Carlos is sure they weren’t that cold last time he saw her.
Dizzy brightly waves at Evie and rummages through her bedazzled purse; after a moment, she pulls out sunglasses (also bedazzled) and offers them to sneering Ivy. Ivy accepts them with a dramatic sigh.
Fine, and Diego’s elbow to her ribs, along with whispered „play nice–“
Ben clears his throat.
This does nothing to shut up Ivy, who had now started arguing with Claudine about a topic Carlos is truthfully afraid to understand.
Ben clears his throat again.
Unsurprisingly, they do not stop talking. Au contraire, Dizzy is now talking too – more like attempting to talk Hunter's ears off, but whatever. Hunter signed up for this by standing in her hearing range.
„Ben. Just talk. They'll shut up eventually,“ Carlos tells the king. He doesn't add „hopefully“ even though he really wants to.
„Yeah. Just talk louder than them. Stab them if they get too annoying.“ Mal glares at Ivy and Claudine a normal and non-concerning amount.
„Establish dominance,“ Evie pipes up, smiling sweetly.
„I- Okay. I'll do that,“ agrees Ben reluctantly and then raises his voice: „Greetings! Allow me to welcome you in Auradon, and in Auradon Prep–“
He steps closer to the group of newcomers.
„I'm King Ben, and you already know my companions.“
Another round of excited waving, some raised middle fingers (affectionate), and some glaring from Claudine Frollo.
„You must be Dizzy Tremaine,“ Ben greets the littlest girl first, „I've heard so much about you, all great things, of course. I hope you like it here.“
„Try to kiss me too and I stab you,“ warns Ivy, fully serious.
He kisses the girls knuckles as a true fairy tale prince, which leaves her squeaking; unlike his cousins, Carlos smiles at her excitement.
Unable to contain her happiness any longer, Dizzy runs off to greet Evie, and Ben turns to Ivy and Claudine.
„No stabbing in front of the cameras, Ivy–“ intones Carlos along with Diego and Hunter. You see, priorities.
„I will stab you too,“ adds Claudine with her eyes narrowed and her tone cold; she steps behind Ivy a bit.
„Yeah no don't mind her she just doesn't like human contact!“ says Dizzy brightly. She is probably quoting someone, but hey. She is right.
Though it does seem a bit hypocritical, given how tightly Claudine is clutching Ivy's arm right now. Ivy doesn't seem to mind.
Why yes, this is rather interesting.
„Okay. I'm not kissing anyone,“ says Ben, backtracking a bit, „Would shaking your hand be better?“
„Don’t even try–“ snaps Ivy instead of Claudine and briefly brushes her fingers against hers.
Ivy glares daggers at him but extends her hand; she then proceeds to nearly crush his palm. Good for her, Carlos thinks.
Ben glances towards smiling Mal and chuckles nervously before turning to Claudine, but Claudine just ducks further behind Ivy.
„WTF?“ mouths Carlos towards Diego silently; „Betting pool – later,“ gestures Diego back.
„I’m Diego,“ says Diego and puts his hand forward. Really, it looks like the young king couldn’t decide which boy is which.
„Anyway, glad to meet you, Claudine Frollo,“ says Ben, obviously doing his best to ignore the glares. He‘s doing a fairly good job: Claudine’s eyes are creepy, Carlos would say.
„And you must be Diego and Hunter de Vil,“ continues Ben, looking between the two remaining cousins.
„And I’m Hunter,“ grumbles Hunter, „Literally the only blonde de Vil in like four generations. Shouldn’t be that hard to figure out.“
„Yeah, yeah,“ dismisses Ivy, „We all know there is something wrong with you.“
Finally, Carlos steps out to greet his cousins, mentally saying goodbye to his hairdo.
Carlos tries and fails to not fall into a laughing fit.
The appalled „Excuse yourself?!“ is not really helping to be honest.
He ignores Ben quietly asking if there wasn’t supposed to be someone else too, and wait, where is Jay?
It doesn’t take long for the older two de Vil boys to trap Carlos in a bone crushing hug.
„Thanks, man,“ whispers Diego so silently that everyone could pretend he didn’t speak at all.
„Hey, wait, we’ve got your cat–“ says Hunter, as if he only just remembered, which, fair enough.
„Oh, shit, right–!“
Well finally someone remembers his cat!
Unfortunately, Ivy, that diva, (derogatory), chooses this moment to greet him properly too: She spins him around rather forcibly and hugs him for but a split second, then she holds him by his shoulders at arm length.
„Carlito! So long since we’ve seen you, and still so small! But the Auradon fashion works for you, I must say, baby cousin–“
„And still no manners, I see,“ sniffs Ivy with her nose up high before leaning back on Claudine.
Sure enough, she reaches out and ruffles his hair. That bitch.
The gesture is immediately repeated by Hunter; Diego is still busy wrestling Belzebub the cat out of the limousine.
Carlos growls at his cousins in distaste as he attempts to repair whatever damage they had done.
„And whose fault is that?“ asks Diego as he emerges out of the limo again, struggling mess of black fur and sharp claws in his arms.
„Our dear auntie’s, obviously.“
Yeah, the Cruella de Vil who had gotten bored and dumped the responsibility for etiquette lessons at her niece within an afternoon. Fortunately for everyone, Ivy didn’t stay interested much longer.
„Belzebub, how I’ve missed you,“ Carlos coos at his cat and scratches behind his ears; Belzebub purrs and calms down, to the absolute astonishment of the three older cousins.
„Whatever, Ives. Here, Carlos, your little furball of joy and murder.“ Diego seems glad to get the cat off his hands; the cat doesn’t seem too happy to be moved. It leaves Diego with a nice long good-bye scratch.
Whatever. The blood matches his vest anyway.
„Wait wait wait, you called that damned black cat Belzebub?! What is wrong with you people?!“
Carlos glares at Claudine Frollo. He didn’t think she could yell that loud.
„Betting pool – later,“ gestures Diego again. Carlos scratches behind Belzebub’s ears again – that fury’s shrieks had upset him – and decides to indeed let the matter go. For about as long as it takes to get to a more private area and get the gossip out of Diego.
„We’re literally called the devils, sweetheart,“ drawls Ivy, „Deal with it.“
…Sweetheart?
„Anyway, we’ve got letters for y’all, and we aren’t leaving until the baby king reads them.“
„Yeah maybe don’t call him Baby King to his face, Ivy?“
„Shut up. And you read.“ Ivy aggressively shoves a bunch of letters into Ben’s face.
„Letters? From whom?“ he asks.
„Why, from the Captains, of course.“
„I’m gonna go ahead and guess that you mean Uma and Harriet,“ deadpans Carlos, ignoring Mal’s intense stare that by all accounts should be able to kill.
„Obviously.“
Look, yeah, gang wars are fun and all, but must Ivy wave at Mal? And smile oh-so-sweetly?
Oh who is he kidding, of course she must. It’s Ivy.
„No murder in front of the cameras, you two,“ Carlos just sighs before turning back to Ben, who is attempting to open the envelopes with his short and manicured nails. Carlos joins his cousins and Claudine in ignoring that struggle and pretending that neither of them has a knife on them.
„Hey, wait–“ Evie comes to the rescue with scissors (Why on earth does she have scissors on her? …You know what, no. Carlos doesn’t want to know.), and Dizzy remembers that she too has several letters for the High King. From Anthony, from her Aunt, and from Uma, surprisingly: That one bluntly states that both Ivy and Claudine are a danger to themselves and should not under any circumstances be left alone. Active deathwish and lack of survival instincts and all. Neat.
Leave it to Uma to sugarcoat things.
Carlos pats Ben on the back and leaves to finally figure out what on earth is going on with Claudine Frollo, his cat in hand.
As he, Diego and Hunter walk away, leaving the king to Ivy, they wave at Jay and Jade on the roof.

Uma x Reader x Audrey
Tumblr media
A/N: This is a more detailed version of my ‘The core four find out that your dating Uma and Audrey’ fic. I wanted to make it more detailed but didn’t want to delete my old one.
Y/N POV
My girlfriend and I, Uma, had just crossed the barrier to Auradon. Uma went to hang out with Mal while I walked over to the snack table; when I grabbed our drinks I heard, “Aren’t you the girl who tried to take over?” “Then she almost died.” “Hey!” I yelled, making both the boys look at me. “Leave her alone.” “What if we don’t?” As soon as they said that, my eyes glowed red, causing them to run away. My eyes changed back to normal and I looked the girl who had her head down. “Are you okay?” She looked up and we locked eyes. She’s beautiful.  “Thank you,” she blushed. Wait what?  “I said that out load, didn’t I?” She nodded and continued to blush, “But also thank you for making those boys go away.” “No problem,” I smiled, “what’s your name?” “Audrey.”Beautiful name. Stop thinking these things. “What about you?” “I’m-” “Y/N!” EVie yelled as she ran up to me. “Yeah, my name’s Y/N.” Audrey giggled as Evie reached us. “Yes E?” “Uma wants her drink.” Evie said, looking in between Audrey and I. “My girlfriend is demanding,” I laughed, “I’ll be back,” I nooded towards Audrey and started to walk off. I wlk over to where Mal, Uma, Ben, Harry, Carlos, and Jane were dancing. “Hey Babe! I got your drink that you so desperptly wanted.” Uma playfully rolled her eyes at me, “Took you long enough.” “Well, it only took me so long because I met a new friend.” Uma titled her head and raised her eyebrow, “Who?” “Audrey,” I pointed back to where the snack tables were located. “You should introduce me.” Umas voice was a tad bit deeper than usual, meaning that she was probably mad about something. “Um,Okay. Follow me.”
UMA’S POV
I only wanted Y/n to ‘Introduce me’ to her ‘new friend’ because I needed her to know that Y/n is taken. Y/n grew up lonely and unloved so now she is oblivious to whenever other girls flirt with her. She doesn’t believe that people wil like her like that. “Uma this is Audrey. Audrey, Uma.” Holy shit she’s beautiful. “Thank you,” Audrey blushed and Y/n laughed, “you did the same thing I did.” I that I would be mad that she called Audrey beautiful, but I couldn’t. Not just because I called her beautiful too, but because I didn’t exactly want to be mad. In a weird way, it made me happy. The more three of us talked, the more I liked Audrey. Everytime she flirted with Y/n and Y/n didn’t get we both laughed. The weirdest thing tho was that I liked when she flirted with Y/n, my girlfriend. What is going on?
AUDREY’S POV
*A FEW MONTHS LATER*
It has been a few months since I met Y/N and Uma and I couldn’t deny the strong feelings I have for both of them. I love spending time with both of them; it brightens my day. They can always make me laugh and smile, even on a bad day. When all three of us are hanging out, I don’t feel like a third wheel; it already feels like all three of us are dating. The only thing I don’t get is kisses. I’m convinced that I am in love with them and that I need to tell them sooner than later.
It was after school and I head ing towards Uma and Y/n’s dorm room when I see them walking up the hallway. “Audrey! We were looking for you.” I tilt my head, “Really? I was about to go to your guy's dorm. I kinda need to talk to you guys about something.” They look at each other, then back at me, “We need to talk to you about something too.” Uma grabbed my hand and the three of us went to their dorm room. “Who goes first?” I asked. “We do,” Y/n and Uma each grabbed one of my hands (they were sitting on either sides of me). Then Uma started talking, “Y/n and I have been talking and we reliezed that we both have feelings for you,” Y/n continued, “And if you want, maybe you could join our relationship.”  I smiled, “I would love too.” “I mean you don’t h-have to if you don’t w-want to.” Uma and I giggled, “Babe she said yes.” “I know I’m just nervous.” We all laughed and i kissed them both on the cheek. “I think you missed,” Uma smirked. I kissed both of them on the lips and spent the rest of day with my girlfriends.
Y/N’S POV
*SIX MONTHS LATER*
Ever since Audrey got added into our relationship, none of us have been happy. There were a few bumbs in the beginning but we worked them out it has been smooth sailing from there. The only thing that was bothering me was that we couldn’t tell anybody. You see, Audreys family (her grandmother mostly) are kinda old school. They didn’t Audrey dating any boy from the isle, let alone two girls from the isle. We also couldn’t tell my sister and/or her friends because then the word could spread; we also didn’t know how they felt about Audrey after… everything. I hated not giving Audrey the same amount of love that I gave Uma during the school day. Though it didn’t seem to effect Uma or Audrey so I haven’t said anything about it.
Right now my girlfriends and I were just laying down on my bed in our dorm. We were talking about wich one of us was more tickle-ish, “I’m not that tickle-ish,” Uma and Audrey both looked at each other than back at me. “No, No. I know what you’re thinking.” “Well then you’ll be fine because you aren’t tickle-ish, right babe?” Uma crawled towards me with Audrey right behind her and she answered, “Right.” They both jumped on me at the sam time and started tickling me. “S-stop!” I laughed. They kissed my cheeks and I heard someone clear their throught.
MAL’S POV
I was heading to Y/Ns room to hang out with her. We haven’t hung out since the VKs came to Auradon. I was exicided to see my sister again, especially since we made up when I went to the isle before the cotinilen. When I got closer to her room, I heard laughing. Confused, I entered the room to see Audrey and Uma kiss Y/N cheeks. I cleared my throat; I already knew that her and Uma were dating (it was one of the reason we didn’t get along) but I had no clue about Audrey. “MAL!” Y/N quickly got up, standing in front the bed Uma and Audrey were laying on. “What’s going on?” I looked Y/N knowing that she can’t lie to me when I do. “Umm… I-we umm… Uma, Audrey and I-I umm-” She looked at the other two before continuing, “Were all- Umm… dating.” I sighed and smiled at Y/n, “You know I don’t who you date, as long as you’re happy and they treat you right.” Y/n smiled wildly and pulled me in for a hug. While hugging Y/n I looked Audery in the eyes and said, “But I’m still doing shovel talk.”

Poly sea three x reader - oneshot - Lonely
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*as i finished this i realized this has no dialogue...which is kinda cool i’ve never written a no dialogue fic, so enjoy!* ((y/n) is Jack Sparrows kid btw if you couldn't guess from the compass on the moodboard)
=
After Uma left, her life was harder…harder than it was before. Uma was the rock of the crew, always there, always steady, and ready to command the lot at a moment's notice. The crew saw a polished rock, hard and smooth, shining like the stars in the galaxy.
Only three people in the crew saw the rough edges. Uma only trusted three people to see behind the polished glaze, exposing the rocky terrain within her. On nights where it had just been too much stress at the chip shop, she would retreat to one of three rooms, sometimes even gathering all of them to be in her room so she could just relax with her favorite people.
Her head rested on her first mate's chest, his solid heartbeat and even breathing lulling her to sleep, her body tangled with her war chief, arms wrapped around each other like snakes and thumb gently rubbing her back. Her legs coiled around her second mate, his hands pressed against her calf and thigh, always letting her know he was there.
Uma didn’t know how much she relied on them until she couldn't get back behind the barrier, eyes wide with helplessness as she called out for them on the other side, Harry when he would nab some fish from an unsuspecting fisherman, (y/n) when they sat on the docks, carving whatever they felt like into their dagger, Gil when he was skipping rocks.
They never heard her, and she didn’t try again as she watched them walk around on the deck of her ship.
She missed them, she realized that almost as soon as she hit the water outside the barrier, stopping for a moment to look back, watching as the barrier closed and she was separated from her friends.
Sometimes, she would see things that reminded her of them, the scarlet ribbon of a disregarded dress, a sparrow flying above her, a broken arrowhead at the bottom of the sea.
Uma just wanted to be with them again, her heart ached every night she went on without the sound of Harry's heart, the feeling of (y/n)s hands gently scratching at her back, the feeling of Gil's hands gently massaging her legs. She realized she loved them, all three of them, the longer she was away from them.
She missed them all, so much.
And she hoped that they missed her too.
-
After Uma left, the isle was harder…harder than it was before. Uma was the rock of the crew, always there, always steady, and ready to command the lot of you at a moment's notice. The crew saw a polished rock, hard and smooth, shining like the stars in the galaxy.
Only three people in the crew saw the rough edges. Uma only trusted three people to see behind the polished glaze, exposing the rocky terrain within her. And she saw the inner workings of them behind closed doors, rusty cogs and scratched glass resting before her eyes.
Harry got more…twitchy, after Uma left, his usual controlled rage that used to bubble beneath his skin bursting out more often, scaring the crew sometimes, but never you and Gil. you both knew he’d never hurt either of you, he’d throw himself off the edge of the world before he even thought about doing so.
Harry was just so angry that Uma was gone, stuck on the other side of the barrier, he had no doubt she didn’t abandon any of you but that didn’t stop him from screaming and destroying the training dummies.
He shut himself away from everyone soon after the anger burned out, even Harriet hadn’t been able to convince him to unlock his door. It had taken almost a month for him to let you and Gil inside, and he looked awful, his skin was pale and his nose and cheeks were red, his eyes puffy and dull. The only reason he wasn’t skinny was thanks to you and Gil leaving trays full of food in front of his door at mealtimes, and leaving it there for him to grab it.
During those months of anger and depression, you and Gil took over the crew, you ascended into the role of captain, being the most knowledgeable about the position thanks to your lineage and Gil becoming first mate, all temporary until Harry recovered and Uma returned.
Though once Harry started to slowly return to his “normal” self, he didn’t care to try to take back his role as the first mate or become the captain as his first mate duties proclaimed, that alone told you and Gil and something was still wrong with Harry.
One night you and Gil dragged Harry into Uma’s empty quarters, and just laid in her bed in a tangle of limbs, Gil laying between Harry's legs with his head on Harry’s stomach, while Harry curled up into your chest, hands clutching onto your shirt. That night was one of the few times you saw Harry cry, choked sobs ripping from his throat as he attempted to muffle them in your neck.
You and Gil let your feelings out that night as well, assuring Harry that he wasn’t alone in missing Uma, you all did. So.damn.much.
Harry had always been in love with Uma, never afraid to show it, but that night you and Gil finally proclaimed the same after years of hiding your feelings in fear they would be used against you. And you loved each other too, it was hard to deny, not after revealing your feelings for Uma.
You all vowed that when Uma returned you would shower her in the love that you had all been deprived of for many years.
It was over a year later before you saw her again, Gil and Harry had jumped out of the barrier behind Mal and her goons plus Celia, Harry knocking the blue gem out of Mal's hand.
Your breath escaped you when a turquoise tentacle caught it, and Uma, looking more beautiful than you remembered, emerged from the water, dressed in an altered version of her turquoise cotillion dress, the sweetheart neckline showing off her glowing shell necklace.
Uma and your boys reunited, but she didn’t look at you, probably because you were back behind the tunnel and she couldn’t see you through the barrier and the darkness of the tunnel. But that was fine, you could wait just a bit longer before you looked her in the eyes again.
You would wait a thousand years for her.
But you wouldn’t have to wait that long, the next morning you awoke to the crew loudly celebrating, cheers and chaos echoing through the halls of the ship from the main deck.
You slipped out of bed, quickly changing into your gear and racing up to the main deck, unable to keep the smile of your lips as you saw Uma, who continued to glow with an echo of her magic, being lifted by the crew, all cheering and celebrating her return.
Her eyes locked onto yours, and as the crew set her down on her feet, you walked toward her, taking off your tri-corn hat and kneeling in front of her. You said her name like a prayer to the gods, a whisper on your lips. Uma shivered at the tone, feeling something wash over her at your worship.
As she looked around at the crew, Harry and Gil standing only a few inches from her, not wanting to be far from her, she realized that while Auradon had everything one could want, riches, good food, magic.
It was nothing compared to the warmth she felt surrounded by her crew and the three people she loved with all her soul.
Uma grabbed your face as you stood up, biting back a smile at your confused look, and pressed a kiss to your lips, the crew around them exploding into cheers.
Uma pulled back from you, smirking at your dazed look as she spun around and grabbed Harry's jacket, pulling him down to her height for a kiss, laughing into it as he slumped into her and groaned. She pulled away one last time and turned to Gil, grinning at his ‘excited puppy’ look, and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips, smiling as he picked her up by her waist to give her better access.
The crew celebrated and cheered, Bonnie handing Desiree a wad of cash when you and Harry kissed as Gil set Uma down and pulled the four of you into a hug, Uma pressing a kiss to his cheek as he did.
All was well again.
Uma wasn’t lonely anymore.
-end-
lowkey kinda proud of this one hehe, tell me what yall thought! this was originally going to be a under the sea kinda fic but it turned into them all missing Uma and Uma missing them and then they all reunited and kiss and just asaoishdahsda i couldn't help but do the fluff at the end

Shy but Fierce (Alpha!Christen x Omega!Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: alpha christen one where the reader is new on the team and they find out they’re mates? maybe christen is shy but also v fierce when it comes to her new found omega
Pt. 2
Special thanks to @literaryhedgehog for helping me make this thing not as heavy as it originally way and livening it up with her BBQ discussion. Hit me up with Questions or if ya just wanna say hi!
It was a warm wave rolling through your body. The feelings of all your nerves tingling on end and your souls reaching out to intertwine with another’s. You smiled at the warmth spreading through your chest as you made eye contact with the green-eyed veteran.
Of all the things you expected from your first camp, meeting your mate in the first 20 minutes was not one of them. Your best friend had told you that the team was welcoming, but this was definitely more than you bargained for.
Nonetheless, you smiled charmingly up at the frozen alpha, lifting her hand to your lips.
“Well it's most definitely a pleasure to meet you,” You purred, smirking at the blush that crawled up the alpha’s (your alpha’s?) cheeks.
Rose rolled her eyes at your antics. The alpha had known you since you were in diapers, and in that time she had learned you were not your stereotypical omega. You weren’t meek or shy and loved to flirt. Christen was gonna have fun trying to reel you in.
Christen opened and closed her mouth several times, wide eyes taking you in. Tobin snickered behind her.
“What Chris, cat got your tongue?”
“Not yet, but I’m sure it will soon,” You smirked, lips ticking up at Christen’s dropped jaw. If your alpha was this easy to fluster when you weren’t even trying, this was going to be a blast.
“Hey hot stuff, middy meeting starts soon, we better go,” Rose smiled, throwing an arm over your shoulder, amused by your effect on the normally put together alpha.
“Later cutie pie, see you on the field,” You winked at Christen, kissing her hand again before allowing Rose to guide you to where the rest of the midfielders were getting ready to meet.
Christen watched you go with wide eyes, still trying to process what had just happened.
“Holy shit, is she always like that?” Christen asked, looking at Mal. If her alpha knew you so well, then she was bound to have insights.
Mal suppressed her snicker “This is her going easy on you,”
The omega had heard the stories about you and found them difficult to believe at first. But seeing you in action was pretty inspiring.
“It’s nice to see after everything that happened with the Courage,” Megan added, watching you carefully.
She didn’t think she would ever be able to get the sight of you pale and sickly out of her head. You had been so hesitant when you joined the Regin, and Rose had been overly protective (Megan would learn that there was a very good reason why as she got to know you).
“What happened with the Courage?” Christen snapped, her elation dwindling as she tried to find some sense of unease in your stance. Her eyes squeezed when she couldn’t find anything. Soon enough she would be able to read you like the back of her hand.
“That’s her story to tell,” Mal said firmly, shaking her head. Christen frowned, she might be shy and “adorable” as you put it, but she would cut a bitch if they hurt her mate.
*****
“Hey cutie, is this seat taken?” You asked, gesturing towards the seat beside your mate.
“N-no not at all,” Christen stuttered out, blushing when she accidentally released a small puff of her pheromones. God, she felt like a teenager going through their first rut.
“Fantastic,” You smirked, sitting down, and moving the chair so it was very close to the alpha, so close your thighs were basically touching. “Hmm, you smell good,” you hummed, leaning in so your nose was nearly touching her neck and breathing in deep. If this was a snapshot into what the rest of your life was going to be, you were completely ok with that.
“Th-thanks,” She shivered as your cold nose touched her skin, closing her eyes and biting her lip, trying with every ounce of her being to control her instincts.
****
“You better save her before she melts,” Mal said, leaning into her alpha. Rose carded her fingers through the omega’s hair, scratching her scalp the way she knew her mate liked.
“Nah, let Y/n have her fun. She hasn’t been this relaxed in forever,” Sonnett snorted, shaking her head as Christen’s face got progressively redder.
“Seems like Y/n is handling herself fine to me,” Rose shrugged.
You hadn’t been this open with anyone since she had rescued you from the courage. She wasn’t going to step in between you and the thing (person) who was making you happy. Chris was a big girl and she could handle herself.
****
“Alright lovebirds, it’s only the first night of camp and you’re already disgustingly sweet,” Ashlyn said feigning seriousness as she took the seat on your other side. You missed the look Ali shot her in your haste to scoot away from your alpha, knocking over your plate in the process.
Your eyes stayed glued to your lap and your head tilted just slightly to the side. Christen’s eyebrows furrowed as you seemed to sink in on yourself.
Rose was on her feet immediately, rushing over to put herself in between you and Ashlyn. Christen took that as her cue and was also on her feet seconds later.
“If it bothers you, Ashlyn, you can sit somewhere else,” Christen growled, stepping around you to act as a barrier between you and the very confused alphas “It doesn’t bother me I was just saying--” Ashlyn sputtered.
“Well don’t!” Rose snapped, turning her back on Ashlyn to look at you. “You okay KitKat?”
“Yeah I’m fine,” you murmured, avoiding her eyes, your head still tilting to expose your neck. She sighed.
“You don’t have to do that. This team is different,” she mumbled, and you nodded noncommittally.
“You spilled your barbecue.” She laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
“It’s Memphis style barbecue anyway, hardly worth eating,” you said, giving her a tight-lipped smile.
“Yeah, don’t know why they bother, everyone knows Kansas style is the best” Becky scoffed, smiling from across the table and winking at Rose.
“I mean, I would say that good barbecue is one of the only good things to come out of North Carolina,” you said, grinning into your napkin, “but then y’all haven’t tried Cookout milkshakes.”
“What happened in North Carolina?” Christen interjected, and you froze, biting your lip so hard she was afraid you would draw blood.
Your smile faded, and your eyes took on a faraway look.
*****
You were not the typical omega. You were outgoing and a bouncing ray of sun that loved to meet new people. On your first day with the courage you had bounded up to everyone, your hand stuck out and a bright grin on your face (an act that had gotten you into serious trouble).
You looked one too many alphas in the eye before one took a particular offense and forced you to submit. Most of the team and coaching staff had simply watched while she humiliated you.
As the season progressed, things had only gotten worse and you had become more and more unbalanced. You jumped at the opportunity to get out of there the second you could, thanking God that there was a spot for a striker on the Reign with Rose.
*****
“Hinkle thought it would be fun to assert her alpha ness,” You shrugged, picking at your fingers, flinching at the weight of Christen’s eyes on you, and the pheromones she was beginning to emit.
“She forced you to submit?” The alpha asked breathlessly, her heart dropping when you gave her a singular stiff nod, wincing as though it pained you. She was sure it did. It was the greatest form of disrespect. “How many times,” she tried to keep her voice level, she didn’t want to scare you off.
“Too many,” You said slowly.
“I would never make you do that. None of us would,” Christen said horrified, kneeling down in front of you, and letting out her soothing scent. Though you weren’t mates yet, it still wrapped around you like a warm blanket, settling your nerves.
You nodded quickly, grabbing her hand for support. “I know. I could tell. Plus you blush too much to be an asshole alpha,” you smirked towards the end, she smiled in return.
“You might turn me to mush, but that’s not going to stop me from ripping her head off the next time I see her,”
She wasn’t the only one who held that sentiment. It was fair to say that a certain North Carolina defender was going to hit the turf a lot next season. No one got to mess with one of their teammates.

Never Should’ve Let You Go (Harry Hook x reader)
=““
Tumblr media
My first Harry Hook x reader!!! I don’t know if anyone’s even going to read this but it was fun to write. :)
summary: y/n returns to the Isle of the lost to help save Ben with the vk’s and Lonnie, she tries convincing Harry to go back with her with no success and after that she thinks that she’ll never see him again. Months later Harry successfully jumps through the barrier with Gil to find Auradon under a sleeping curse.
word count: 2,314
“Hey, can you pass me that book?” y/n asked Harry, he threw it to her watching as she packed for Auradon. y/n was one of the vk’s that had been chosen to attend Auradan prep-to say she was excited was an understatement. It was her dream to go there.
“You goin’ ta miss me lassie?” Harry asked with his infamous grin.
“Of course, who else is going to call me lassie?“ She asked, imitating his accent while saying the word ‘lassie’.
Harry chuckled before dropping his smile “How long is this goin ta last?” He asked. The truth was he was scared of being separated from y/n for so long-terrified even, she was one of the few things that made the isle more bearable-but he’d never admit it. He was too prideful. He was pretty sure that he was in love with her.
“It’s only for a little while.” She told him, getting closer to the boy. “There’s a plan to steal the fairy godmother’s wand and take down the barrier.” She whispered, “We’ll see each other soon.”
“hmm” He thought, wrapping his arms around y/n pretending to think. “Ok, don’ you keep me waitin’ too long.” He told her resting his forehead against hers. He tried to kiss her but y/n pecked the corner of his mouth before backing up. “Always a tease.” He complained, making y/n laugh.
“I’ll see you soon.” y/n said once more but before she could leave, Harry caught her wrist, pulling her back and planting his lips on hers-capturing her in a passionate kiss.
“Don’t be gone fer too long.” He told her, bringing her into a hug.
“I-”
“y/n! Get down here already!“ A voice came from downstairs.
“That’s my cue.“ she said kissing Harry’s cheek. She backed up, holding his hand and let go once she was a few steps away. “Don’t miss me too much.“ She joked.
“I’m more worried about you.“ Harry shouted back once she was out the door, he smiled to himself when he heard her laugh-secretly wishing that he could go with her.
(days later)
“Harry y/n’s on tv.“ Gil shouted, pointing to the small screen behind the counter. Harry had just walked into Ursula's Fish and Chips, but once he caught a glance of y/n on the tv he walked over quickly to watch. “Oh the wand!” Gil exclaimed with a mouth full of food, “didn’t you say that-”
“Shut ye mouth!” He snapped, raising his hook in the air. ‘This is it’, he thought. Once Mal grabbed the wand. ‘The barriers coming down’.
Then Maleficent showed up and the vk’s changed their minds-betraying their parents trust and crushing Harry’s hopes.
And the rest of the isle kids were still stuck on the isle.
(present time)
y/n stood behind Mal watching as her friend and Uma argued. Her eyes scanned the pirate ship-recognizing a few faces before seeing Harry with Ben on the plank. “Mal, whatever you do it’s gonna be a lose-lose, there’s gotta be a better way!” Ben’s voice rang out. Harry and y/n made eye contact for a moment before she turned away.
In truth Harry felt betrayed-y/n had hurt him more than anyone ever had. She had promised before that the wand would be taken and the barrier taken down, but it seemed that she had changed her mind-choosing to stay with her friends and have a perfect life in Auradon-dooming Harry and everyone else that was still stuck on the Isle. “Silly king!” Uma yelled out-ripping Harry away from his thoughts-“You? Give me? You're gonna give me a chance? Well, not a chance!”
After a little while longer the wand had been handed over and turned up being a fake-that’s when the fighting between the two sides began. y/n was on the ground with a pirate pointing their sword at her-when the sword was knocked out of their hand. Jay helped the girl up, pushing the pirate off of the ledge and into the water. “You ok?” He asked and she nodded, taking the sword that he held out to her. “I know this is hard for you.” He told her-referring to Harry, “try to stay up here.”
Well she had tried, but she was now closer to the ship than she had intended-trying to get to the exit where her friends were. “y/n!” Harry’s voice came from behind her. She looked over-spotting the pirate struggling to get out of the water.
“y/n come on!” Mal shouted from somewhere behind.
y/n ignored her friend, reaching down to take Harry’s hand and help him back onto the wooden dock. He looked up at her and the two stared at each other for a moment. “Come with us.” y/n said out of nowhere, making Harry chuckle. “I’m serious.” She pleaded.
“I’m not leavin’ Uma and Gil behind.” He told her before sadly adding “not like you left us.”
Her mouth opened in disbelief, “Harry I-”
“y/n!” Jay’s voice rang out, “come on!”
y/n looked back to her friends. “Stay.” Harry said, taking y/n’s hand. “Stay with me.” His blue eyes were pleading and this was the most vulnerable y/n had ever seen the boy. She put her other hand over his, squeezing it.
“I can’t.” She whispered.
“y/n!” Jay called again.
“Harry you can come with us, Uma and Gil and everyone else too. Come with me..” She begged holding his hand, he let go looking down. “Please.” y/n whimpered-feeling tears well up in her eyes. “We can have a better life in Auradon-a happy life please....I love you.” That was the first time either of them had said that.
He silently watched her for a moment, looking at the ground-he didn’t have to say his answer.
y/n’s eyebrows furrowed as she bit her lip. “Harry...?” She asked with a breaking voice, “Harry.”
“Yer friends are callin’ ye.“ He croaked. “Just leave-it’s what yer good at.“
“But...“
“y/n!“ It was Carlos’s turn to shout her name this time. y/n looked back to her friends then to Harry-debating what to do. A purple color bomb came out of nowhere suddenly-blocking everyone’s vision. When it cleared y/n was gone.
Harry had lost her a second time.
(months later)
“Don’t worry Jane, I’m sure Carlos will be here.“ y/n told her friend, putting a hand on her shoulder. “He’s probably just running late.”
Jane glanced at her friend, offering a nervous smile.
Carlos however was going back to the isle with the other vks, but y/n of course didn’t know since she arrived extra early to Jane’s party to help with decorations, and the vk’s were in a rush to get Hade’s ember.
“I just don’t don’t get what’s taking him so long...“ Jane said with worry, “are there birthday parties on the isle?”
“um..“ y/n glanced at her friend “if by birthday party you mean eating stolen cake with dirt and flies then yes...“ She chuckled, making Jane giggle as well.
“um y/n?“ Jane asked staring up the hill.
y/n looked to where Jane was starring, gasping when she saw a pink mist covering the place. It started to make it’s way down to where the two girls stood. “Don’t let her see you!” y/n warned her friend upon seeing Audrey.
“The enchanted lake! Come on!” Jane told y/n, taking hold of her wrist and pulling her towards the direction of the water.
“I don’t know how to swim.”
“It’s fine-we just need to get deep enough to bend down into the water.” Jane reassured her. y/n nodded, submerging into the lake. They waited a few moments until Audrey disappeared before coming back up.”Was that Audrey?” Jane asked with a mix of confusion and worry.
“With maleficent’s staff.”
“And the crown!”
“We need to warn people!” y/n told Jane, getting out of the water.
“Let me just fill this water gun up with the lake water. Who knows, we might need it.”
“Knowing the vk’s, they’re probably on top of this already.” y/n told Jane-who had just finished filling up the water gun. “Come on, we should go look for them.”
The two wandered around the woods for a while before making it to Evie’s cottage, “Let’s check here.” Jane told y/n, she nodded in agreement.
With a bobby pin from Jane’s hair, y/n picked the lock after nobody answered the door. “I think that Doug was here-“ The door opened, revealing Audrey standing in the cottage-scepter in hand, with Chad beside her. On instinct y/n swung the door open wider-hiding Jane from Audrey’s view. “Audrey you don’t have to do this!” y/n told the girl, staying put, “just wake everyone up and I promise-”
“Promise me what?” Audrey snapped, “There’s nothing you can possibly offer me that I want!”
“Audrey.” y/n said carefully “I don’t know why you’re doing this, but you can fix it.”
“I don’t want to fix it!” She hissed, “I’m having the time of my life.” She added with a laugh, “you on the other hand, won’t be so lucky. Chad let’s go!” She boomed.
“Wait Au-” but it was too late. Audrey hit the scepter against the floor board and began to teleport. “Sweet dreams...” Her fading voice cackled.  The same pink mist from earlier surrounded y/n, making it’s way to her.
“y/n!“ Jane called out, taking a step closer.
“No!“ y/n yelled, throwing her arms out to stop Jane from getting to close. “don’t waste the water on me-“ Then she fell to the ground asleep and the pink mist disappeared.
“y/n!“ Jane yelled, rushing to her friend’s side. She looked around in a panic wanting to cry. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and stood up. “Don’t worry y/n.” She whispered, “I’m going to drag you into the house and then find everyone else.”
It didn’t take long for Jane to lay y/n on a couch. She had just carefully laid y/n’s head on a pillow when she heard a roar coming from the woods. She had followed it and found Carlos, Jay two other boys she didn’t recognize, and Ben in beast form. She didn’t have to think twice before spraying him with the water from the enchanted lake. After a happy reunion with Carlos Jay spoke up, “Jane do you know where Audrey went?”
“No but y/n-”
At the mention of y/n, Harry’s head snapped to look at her. “ye know y/n?”
“...Yeah.” Jane nodded, “she’s my friend.”
“That’s Harry and Gil.” Jay told Jane and she nodded.
“What about y/n?” Carlos asked.
“She’s under the sleeping curse.“ Jane explained, “Audrey showed up out of nowhere and cursed her before leaving!”
“y/n’s under the sleepin’ curse?” Harry almost yelled. Normally he didn’t act emotional, but he was worried now.  “Where?”
“At Evie’s cottage.” Jane said, “come on.” The group made it to Evie’s cottage with no trouble, finding the girls there too. They had their short reunion and Mal ran into Ben’s arms. Harry however went straight for the door.
“Where is she?” He asked almost losing his temper. Uma knew exactly what he was talking about and nodded her head towards the cottage, leading the way.
Harry froze for a second after seeing y/n fast asleep on a couch. He creeped forward-as if a sudden movement would disturb her. “I should’ve been here.” He whispered, kneeling down beside her. “I’m sorry-I drove you away and now yer-”
“Hey Harry.” Gil called from the doorway.
“Can’t ye see I’m havin’ a moment?” Harry yelled to the boy.
“Well yeah but...why don’t you try kissing her?” He asked.
“An’ why would I do that?” Harry asked looking up aggrivated.
“Well you know..true loves kiss.” Gil told him with a smile as if it were obvious. “Uma said it works every time.”
“It does.” Uma said from beside Gil.
“Well it won’t work this time.” Harry whispered.
“Why not?” Gil asked confused, “don’t you love her?”
“Course I love her!” Harry snapped, looking back down at y/n. “But she’s gotta love me too, and I doubt she does after how I acted-I hurt her.”
“She hurt you too, but you still love her.” Gil said.
“Why don’t you just try?” Jay asked.
“I can’t.” Harry told the boy, “what if it doesn’t work?” He closed his eyes-he didn’t think he could bare it if it didn’t work.
“She loves you.” Jay told the pirate, “I don’t know why since you’re kind of a jerk-” he stopped talking when Harry glared at him. “But she does and I don’t think she’ll ever stop.”
“If you don’t try you’ll never know.” Uma told him, patting Gil’s shoulder as a hint to leave.
Once they were alone Harry looked down at y/n sighing. He pulled a strand of her back with his hand, softly caressing her cheek. “Please work.” He whispered. He leaned down closing his eyes and pressed his lips against hers softly.
Nothing happened.
Harry looked away sadly, “I’m sorry lass.” He said-about to cry.
But he didn’t see her eyes flutter open. “Harry?” y/n asked confused, Harry’s head snapped in her direction and his mouth opened in shock before a smile formed on his lips.
“y/n!” He exclaimed, wrapping his arms around the girl. “It worked!”
y/n hugged him back laughing, “what-what are you doing here?”
“I jumped through the barrier before it closed.” He laughed resting his forehead against hers. “I love ye y/n, more than anything.”
y/n smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck again, “I love you too.”

New AU idea: I’ve found out that there’s some versions of the Batman comics where Tim Drake becomes Red Robin straight off the bat (he was never Robin & didn’t go to Batman) so I’m running with that
This Tim Drake doesn’t find Batman all that amazing, he recognizes Batman as a hero and as a symbol of Hope for Gotham, but he also sees him as just one man trying to make a difference, he holds more admiration towards Robin, specifically Jason’s Robin since he knows Gotham in ways Batman doesn’t, he checks on the street kids and the homeless, makes hot chocolate runs for the working girls when he can, and he is more interested in helping those in Crime Alley, a place where Batman and the previous Robin didn’t tend to patrol before Jason
And Tim has never been a normal child, there’s really no way for him to be human but there’s also no way to prove that he isn’t human, he passes the DNA tests, he doesn’t have a meta gene, he doesn’t have a mutation nor a difference in genetics, physiologically? There’s nothing to prove that Tim is anything other than human. In practice? Tim isn’t exactly limited if he cut off a limb, if he were to be shot in the head it would take approximately five minutes for him to heal back up, he can decide whether or not a wound will leave scars on his body, he can choose whether or not a mortal wound would put him in the ground permanently, most importantly, he can choose whether or not to contact his crew from the Isle that was supposed to be his home
There’s a reason as to why Tim isn’t exactly fond of heroes, after all, heroes decided to sentence countless of children yet to be born to a life of pain, suffering and poverty amongst an island filled with villains, heroes are the ones who put a barrier over the Isle that prevented its occupants from accessing their magic, heroes are the reason that his fae sisters and djinn brother and sea witch cousin and pirate friends are unable to access a part of themselves, he reason that they are unable to grow up properly and learn to control and feel and channel their magical cores, heroes are the reason for why him and his family hide behind fake names, and if it wasn’t for his parents’ quick thinking and preparations to flee then heroes would’ve been the reason he would’ve also grown up imprisoned and unable to access an integral part of himself
So no, Tim isn’t exactly impressed by the Batman
But Gotham exudes a similar signature as the one of the Isle of the Lost, making it the one place to where his parents could establish themselves undetected as the pollution would obscure their magical signatures had anyone looked for them, of course, Tim wasn’t old enough to learn how to lock down his own magical core in a way that wasn’t detrimental to himself, so he couldn’t be taken out of Gotham to accompany his parents on their numerous trips around the world, and such was his boredom that he decided to take advantage of his lack of adult supervision and explore Gotham
Having been taught about what became of the people he would’ve known as family from his parents as well as reading up every book he could in the ancient family library regarding long distance communication with magical kin, Tim ends up with a plan to meet with kids on the Isle as soon as he can, it turns out that establishing communication with the Isle requires for him to be in a part of Gotham that has the same atmosphere as the Isle, so Little Tim sets up shop in a semi secure rooftop in Crime Alley and establishes communication, needless to say he’s in for a surprise because “Oh wow why are you there Mr. Hades, you could escape any time and there’s no way those mortals could hope to contain your power, so why are you on the Isle?”
Turns out that attempting communication from a place surrounded by death and sorrow would lead to Tim establishing a magical video chat with the Lord of the Underworld, who’d’ve thunk? Anyway, Hades is literally just chilling for the next hundred years on the Isle because it’s easier to agree to mortals’ demands than obliterate them, and it’s less paperwork too so win-win, and one afternoon he’s suddenly communicating with one of the cutest little chipmunks he’s seen (kids are cute, and Tim is still a baby so he’s Tiny Cute) who introduced himself as Timothy Dwake and isn’t that just precious that the little tyke still has trouble with his r’s but how is he able to communicate with him on the Isle oh, that’s Janet’s kid, well shit guess he has a godson now (Janet had always wanted for Tim to be protected and that’s why she had been one of the few to escape the Isle, she had been a good friend back in the day so it seemed only fair for him to return the favor by looking out for Tiny Tim; it has nothing to do with Tim’s very cute face and slightly chubby cheeks that he kinda wants to pinch and his cute little lisp no Persephone I’m not attached-)
Anyway, so Tim ends up learning from his Uncle H on how to control his magical core and how to defend himself against physical and magical threats, he has a talent for using shadows to conceal himself as well as to listen in on others and gather information, if he concentrates really hard he can even manipulate shadows into solid figures, once he told this to his Uncle new training lessons began and now Tim is able to maintain his shadow constructs solid for longer periods of time as well as give them shape, over time he would learn more control over his ability and it will become easier to make weapons from shadows, his Uncle H also trains him in combat, particularly lost forms of combat from ancient civilizations
One particular night Tim wasn’t able to go to their meeting spot in Crime Alley, there was an Arkham Breakout and he wasn’t about to be caught up in that shit because could he fight off some villains and protect himself? Sure, but that would mean a possibility of getting the Batman’s attention and he’s not about to do that so staying at home it is, and now he is walking alone in the Drake gardens, he has no one to practice his fighting techniques with, no one to talk to, no one to teach him about what’s happening in the Isle, no one to teach him how to control his powers and his parents are gone for most of the year and they say that they’ll take him with them when he’s older but they’ve been saying that for years and now he’s much better at concealing his power and the King of Auradon believes he put every villain away for good so it’s not like they’re searching for his magical signature anyway so WHY WON’T HIS PARENTS TAKE HIM WITH THEM!?!?!? WHY IS HE ALWAYS LEFT ALONE!?!?!?
As he got progressively angrier, Tim hadn’t noticed how his power became stronger, how shadows grew larger, nor how the ground seemed to tremble and crack, it wasn’t until the ground literally split in front of him that he realized that maybe his power may have gotten out of hand, a bit, maybe, to be fair, he didn’t mean to summon a skeleton warrior with who he could practice his fighting with but hey, silver lining and all that, and he has something else to tell his Uncle H about in their next meeting (Hades may or may not have blessed his godson, and the blessing may or may not have given Tim some sort of control over his domains)
Anyway, eventually Tim learns how to see what’s happening in the Isle on his own from a sort of bird’s eye view, he sees what kids his age are going through and tries to find ways to alleviate the pain, he begins to talk to the kids and establishes rapport with them, he becomes friends with little Uma and Harry by bonding over swordplay, he gives Jay and Carlos tips for how to find the best hiding spots, he learns from Evie how to hide more stuff in his clothes and how to add more protective fabrics to his wardrobe, he and Mal bond over high parental expectations (she reminds him of Hades sometimes, and he thinks her eyes are a very pretty green with gold flecks sprinkled in, he may have a crush???) (Psssst, Mal likes Tim’s eyes too, she thinks it’s very pretty how they seem to change shades depending on his mood and when he’s happy they match her purple hair) *cue cuteness from these unfortunate little beans because yes*
Anyway, Tim has been working on creating a portal to a secluded part of the Isle from where he could send supplies to kids there, he was 8 years old when he started looking into this possibility after managing to make friends with the kids and now, at 13, he has finally managed to make it happen, he can only send non-living things through the portal tho, because although theoretically he Could send himself over, then he’d be stuck behind the barrier and couldn’t access his magic so that’s a big no, and he also can’t take the risk of getting someone from the Isle out because he can’t guarantee their safety (he tried with small insects and one time with a mouse; they died); the first thing he sends are medical supplies, food and bottled water, at first it’s only for his close friends, then they all establish a sort of routine and plan to get these supplies to other kids while hiding what they’re doing from their parents behind the guise of building their own gang on the Isle, Uma with the pirates and Mal with the inner city, Tim becomes their sort of advisor on important matters having seen what strategy tends to work when recruiting people as well as how to better approach street kids, he gets nicknamed the Shadow Angel for helping from behind the curtain, literally
Tim continues to learn as much as he can from his Uncle H, shadows Robin around Crime Alley, avoids gaining Batman’s attention and acquires supplies to send to the Isle three times a week from different places (he’s gotta cover his tracks, otherwise he runs the risk of getting Batman’s attention even if it’s just because the same person keeps buying food, water and medical supplies from various stores each week) but Tim has money, and he has experience regarding gangs and their recruiting and internal works (he’s helping his friends make their own gangs after all) and these people are in need of help as well, so he decides to make his own ‘gang’ by hiring people to do supply runs for him, he poses as a recruiter and gives fliers with information about his own gang and the benefits that joining will have (health insurance, dental, payed maternity leave, payed recuperation period, payed physical therapy and medical bills in case Batman decides to pop in, education is provided for anyone who wishes to get their GED and continue their education, etc); in the end, Tim keeps the Boss’ identity a secret until he reaches adulthood because no one would take a kid seriously, but he ends up amassing his own gang in Gotham while at the same time improving the life of people in poverty areas like Crime Alley and the Bowery
Of course, everything comes to a head when Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are elected to go to school in Auradon leaving Uma as the only leader on the Isle, meanwhile Tim has been keeping tabs on Robin and gets to save Jason from Joker in Ethiopia (turns out being able to summon a skeleton army comes in handy when rescuing Robin from a deranged psychopath like Joker) so Tim is simultaneously saving Jason while still trying to remain anonymous to Batman (he’s built and maintained an entire gang in the most crime ridden part of Gotham for years, he’s not about to get involved with the Bats now)
So Tim only finds out about what happened to Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos until they’re already in Auradon and decides you know what? Fuck it, I’m gonna meet my friends face to face, besides, he can handle maintaining a gang in Gotham, he’s sure he can handle Auradon (update: he cannot, he’s this close 🤏 to rocking someone’s shit, he proposes overtaking the kingdom twice a day, he knows they could do it, and it’ll be easy even, but it’s the paperwork that’s holding them back, meh, let Ben do the grunt work and become an advisor, at least their manipulations would be in favor of improving the life of kids in poverty unlike other people who just want to get more money from their position close to the crown, gotta love politics)
Anyway, Tim Drake does become Red Robin, gang leader and benevolent overlord of Crime Alley and the Bowery, helping Gotham citizens and being the Shadow Angel of the Isle, plotting Auradon’s downfall for fun on his slow days as well as working on taking out the kids from the Isle and setting up safe houses for them for when he and his friends figure out how to save the kids

Four Plus One
Summary: Huma, Four times Uma cried around Harry and the one time he cried around her
Uma knows her mother must have planned something for her birthday, beyond having a few extra hours off early to play with all her friends. She tampers down the hope she’ll come back to a seapony, or at least a cake. Instead when she wanders back into the chip shop, peering around to see her mothers tentacles waving her forward. “What on earth do you think you’re wearing?” Ursula snarls and Uma shrinks back.
“It was cold, Gil; Gil gave me his jacket and-“ “Take it off before I burn it.” Uma nods folding the jacket and running with it to her room, not that her mother can’t reach it there. She tucks it under the pillow and for a moment in her terror she forgets it’s her birthday at all. She remembers soon after and pulls the jacket back out fingers running over the soft red leather. “Uma?” She jumps wiping her face and peers at her window, Harry’s clinging to the ledge grinning at her, his hook looped around the broken railing he’d used to climb up. “Come on I know your mom’ll throw me back into the ocean in a few if you don’t open up.” Uma doesn’t say anything nodding and sliding her window open, thankful it stay silent no matter how slow or quickly she rips it open. “Uma?” She watches Harry frown grabbing his hook from the bar but putting it on her dresser to let his hands hover around her face.
“She forgot again. I don’t know why I thought it was going to be different than any other year.” Harry shakes his head pulling her into an awkward hug as she shoves her hands forward trying to offer him his jacket back. “You really giving me your present back?” “Told my mom it was Gil’s.” Harry nods, pulling the jacket back on before wrapping Uma back in a hug. “It’s okay you know.”
“That my own mother forgot my birthday?” Uma laughs bitterly and Harry shakes his head. “That you’re upset. Just because you’re gonna be captain someday doesn’t mean you don’t get to have feelings.” “I don’t think I’m going to be captain at this rate, you’re better suited anyways.” Harry grins shaking his head, his fingers brushing her cheeks to wipe away spare tears. “You’re just saying that.” Harry ducks his head before looking back up to her grinning. “What?” “Since you won’t take the jacket.” He laughs, placing the hat he always wears onto her head. “Harry, I can’t…” “It’s a birthday present. You can’t give it back to me.” He grins crookedly leaning forward to kiss her forehead before pulling the hat over her eyes. “Come on Capt’n, we’ll be okay.” Harry hums and Uma nods looking at him from under her new hat. “You should get home..”
“Before my dad notice’s his own personal bartender ain’t home?” Harry snarls and Uma chews her lip. “Before I ask you to stay over, again. And have my mom throw you into the ocean, again.” “I’ll hit the barrier like I did last time.” “And break your wrist?” “I have my hook!” Harry nods enthusiastically.
——————————————————————————-
“Uma! Volume control!” Ursula shouts from the back and Uma scrambles towards the tv turning the volume down watching the static image flicker before it shows a bright green garden filled with berries and fruit trees. Uma stares in wonder as the tv pans over the garden and then to a massive swimming pool that seems to be endless before it switches to a view of a lake with a waterfall and a group of kids swimming in the lake itself. Uma tries her best not to run her fingers along the tv screen, the last time she did that she had to clean off the handprints she’d left.
Harry and Gil arrive as whatever the show is ends and they grin at her but she shakes her head thumb moving to the back of the shop where they can hear her mother moving around. “UMA!” “Comin’ mom.” Uma hums back and Harry and Gil settling into the corner table they’ve claimed as their own. “That show on the TV; that was what Auradon looks like, like really looks like! Isn’t that so cool! I want to go there! And go swimming!” Uma cheers and Gil nods enthusiastically excitedly talking about all the fresh fruit and vegetables they have.
“Dad says those are the best for being strong, way better than the canned stuff we get!” Harry shrugs when Uma asks about why he wants to go. “Come on Harry must be some reason.” “You want to go, so I do.” Harry half mumbles as if it’s the most normal response to have. “We should ask.” Gil grins and Uma can’t fight off his optimism that he radiates. “Fine.” Uma grumbles and the three of the retreat back towards Ursula. “Mom. Gil and Harry and I were-“ “You can have the night off then.” “Thank you but we wanted to ask about going to Aurad-“ Uma doesn’t finish, Gil shoves her back and Harry and her watch frozen and Ursula’s tentacle whip out to slice a gash on Gil’s arm. Uma knows it would have been her face had he not moved in front of her.
“Don’t you ever mention that hell hole, those people are the ones that trapped us here.” She snarls and Uma realizes she’s not even aware she hadn’t hurt Uma, just that something had gotten hurt. They three of them step back and all shakily curl into one of the rooms on the Revenge. “I’m sorry Gil.”Uma mumbles and Gil’s brow furrows. “About what? That was nothing compared to what my dad passes off as training, let alone his punishments.” Both her her and Harry look worriedly to Gil.
“Your dad? He does worse than that?” Harry chews his lip, Gil nods unphased. “Course, he’s the strongest here, I have to be just like him. I can’t be weak, or fail like he did.” Gil’s smile falters at their shocked faces. “Is that not what he’s supposed to be doing?” “Gil, no, not at all.” Uma pulls him into a hug and he rests his chin on her head. Harry nervously reaches forward hands circling both Uma and Gil. Gil’s face stays confused as Uma sniffles and he pulls back to look at her face. “You’re upset for me? There’s nothing to be upset about; look it already scabbed. No need to cry.”
It doesn’t take long for the movement of the boat to lull them to sleep or for Harry to wake back up when he can feel Uma shifting away from him. “Uma, hey what’s-“ “Nothing.” “You seemed really upset about Gil earlier, I didn’t know, we can’t blame ourselves.” “It’s not that, he just, right in front of me.” She waves her hand in front of her face.
“Yeah cause he cares about you. We all do, we’re your crew.” “He, you, neither of you should be so willing to get hurt for me.” “I can’t speak for him, but  I love you; I’m not going to let you get hurt if I can help it.” “You what?” Uma questions and Harry throws her hat at her. “Nothing. We should sleep more till someone else comes to wake us.” He avoids the question and Uma drops in favour of picking off the flaking blood on her jacket from Gil’s wound.
————————————————————————————– “Why do you want to be my friend so badly! You don’t even have real magic!” Mal snaps and Uma hesitates. “I do have magic! I can swim and when I-“ “Nobody cares you can swim, that you just hit the barrier and turn back! That’s so dumb!” “Mal just drop it, Uma can hang with us-“ “No Evie she wants to control us, wants us in her dumb pirate gang that’s made up of a bunch of misfits, just like her, a little shrimp.” Mal’s eyes and face light up and Uma scowls before Mal’s eyes flash green and Uma’s face first in the sand. “Shrimpy, betcha can’t even fight back.” Uma doesn’t say anything as Gil and Harry appear, Mal and Evie turning tail and running back to the main city of the Isle. “They don’t like the beach, it’s okay Uma that’s all.” Gil assures her and she shoves at him, he stumbles, caught off balance in his new growth spurt, his limbs too gangly and thin. Uma tries not to be bitter at the growth spurts that seemed to have taken her crew by storm, leaving her out of the mix. “I’ll go let everyone know.” Gil nods as Uma catches the end of some shared look between him and Harry. “What Harry.” She snaps, her voice wavering.
“You okay? You landed pretty hard on your wrist..” “It’s fine!” Uma shouts and Harry nods sitting next to her as she pulls herself inward, foot digging into the damp sand. “She doesn’t know anything, she’s the closest we’re getting to meet Auradonian royalty in the flesh. A stuck up princess given too much power.” “She’s a better villain, everyone is scared of her.” Uma sniffles. “You think they’re not scared of you?” She nods and Harry loops his arm around her.
“They don’t know how weak the barrier is under the water do they?” Uma shakes her head and Harry grins. “Betcha once you get even better at swimming you can just swim under it.” “ I can’t.” Harry arches an eyebrow. “All you’ve wanted since we were little was to get off this island and take revenge for yourself.” “I can’t leave my crew behind.” She grins laughing a little as Gil shoves Harry into the sand.
“See Uma, fightin’ always makes us feel better; you’re laughing now so you’ll be okay, right?” Gil’s voice is softer at the end despite the force he uses to keep Harry’s face planted in the sand. “Gil, come on can’t have my first mate drown in no water.” Gil’s eyes widen. “You can do that?” “Let’s not find out yeah?” Uma helps Harry up who playfully shoves Gil towards the ship they’ve all started calling home in their heads. ———————————————————————–
“Come on Gil. Again.” Uma snaps and Harry charges forward, Gil jumping out of the way dropping the sword and letting his fist hit Harry in the jaw. “GIL! No! The point of this is for you to use the sword!” Uma chides shaking her head as she steps in front of Harry pulling her own sword out to nod to Gil who nervously picks his back up. “We all need to get better at fighting; we all need to be able to fight in every way each other does. We’re stronger like this.” She nods and Gil nods with her taking a breath before he nods and Uma steps forward. “Strike, block, strike, block, turn. Good. Good job.” Uma praises and Gil grins striking to the side without comment and Uma grins back dodging him laughing a little.
“Try again.” She laughs and he nods stepping back so Uma follows, closing the gap towards him before he strikes out once more switching his hand to slice the air in front of Uma’s face. “Were you holding out on Harry just to fight me?” “Nah, Harry’s too easy to beat, I needed a challenge.” Gil laughs when Uma’s sword cuts at his arm, he grins and Uma raises an eyebrow at the line that’s bleeding now.
“You’re gonna end up covered if you don’t actually fight back.” Uma taunts and Gil rolls his shoulders unconcerned before he steps forward sword moving with his arm as he extends it before twisting himself to the side as Uma lashes out; he untwists grinning as the sword slices through the air, he jumps back landing on his feet as Uma rolls to the side. She falters her grin morphing to faint confusion as she looks down, a gash cutting through her jacket, the fabric barely hanging on.
“Gil.” She hisses and he freezes face looking worriedly for any sign of blood. “This was my best jacket!” She snarls and no one comments about it being her only one. Gil hovers nervously before Uma charges him, his sword scraping against hers as he scrambles backwards to avoid her blade. “I’ll buy you a new one! I’ll fix it. I swear I’ll fix it.” Gil shouts frantic as the rest of the crew move out of his way as he all but runs circles around the deck. Gil almost screams as Harry jumps out sword in hand. “Its not fair you’re both too strong together!”
“Life ain’t fair Gil.” Uma laughs surprised to see Harry stumble before he crashes into her. Uma looks up to see a blade in her face Gil grinning. “What just happened?” “I used your strength against you. Harry’s not gonna let himself hurt you if he can help it; so when I moved out of the way, he dropped his sword,” Gil gestures with his hand that’s currently holding Harry’s sword. “And then all I had to do was flick my leg out and bam, Harry became a dead weight and you both hit the deck. So I win.” “So you’re saying Harry helped you win?”
Gil shrugs offering his hand out. Uma takes it gripping her sword about to raise it before Gil lets go of her hand leg sweeping under her’s at the same time as Harry grabs his ankle from where he rests still half on the ground. Uma glares from under Harry’s chest Gil grinning upside down at them. “Do I still win?” Uma sucks in a breath and shrugs pulling the half of her jacket that’s still clinging to the other and waving it in his face. “Does this look like you’re going to win?”
“Yes?” Uma rolls her eyes and pulls Harry back towards the captain’s area pulling her jacket off. “You know he didn’t mean it.” “I know.” Her fingers brush over the jacket, the front half salvageable. “At least the backs there not a total loss.” “I have barely any front of the jacket now! This is worse than the time you lost your sleeves!” “Okay one of those was my choice the other was a hook issue.” Uma shakes her head and Harry scowls. “It’s not the jacket is it?” “Gil’s good at fighting; but he’s better at defending.” “We all are, you know why.”
“I hate it.” “None of us enjoy it. We’re your crew you know this.” “I know Harry! I just want all of this shit to stop! I just want us to be okay! I don’t want Gil to panic when I mention meal times or Bonny to act psycho to keep all the creeps who stare away. I don’t want any of this. I don’t want to train everyone to fight and expect them to lay down there lives for me!” She shoves him shaking her head and Harry raises an eyebrow at the tears he can spot. “So it’s not the jacket?” Gil questions nervously gripping the door handle. “No it’s; what is that?”
“Sewing kit. Borrowed it from Evie, she said since it’s leather it won’t fray; I dunno what that means but it can’t be any harder that stitching up one of Harry’s wounds.” “Oh, thanks Gil.” Uma nods to the jacket keeping her back to him. “You can take it and bring it back if you want.” “Course.” Gil nods and Harry watches as he carefully folds the jacket up, and retreats from the closing door. “Uma, do you-“ Harry doesn’t finish, Uma nodding to him handing his sword that had been leaning against the table towards him.
“We have work to do.” She snaps and Harry sighs. “So we’re going to ignore your emotions…” “What emotions? I was just tired.” “So you’re admitting to the tears then?” Harry grins as Uma scowls caught in a forced agreement. “At least it wasn’t our hat.” She amends and Harry grins following her back onto the deck. ——————————————————————————
Harry and Gil don’t say anything when they find Uma curled in the captain’s chair asleep, her apron and the smell of grease clinging to her. Gil grins nodding to Harry who scowls back pulling him away from waking her. “Let her sleep. Ursula had her working double night shifts.” “Wasn’t she already working double shifts durning the day?” Gil questions and Harry nods watching as Gil’s eyes widen. “I’ll tell the crew to keep it down.”
“Doubt anything could wake her, might as well be dead.” Harry chuckles grinning at Uma before he jumps slightly when she moves. “Not dead, and not sleeping.” She huffs and rolls her back against the chair’s arm. “Wouldn’t you rather a bed Capt’n.” “Doesn’t matter either way. Can’t sleep.” She hisses and rubs at her eyes. “At least change out of your uniform, no sense in getting it dirtied up.” “Doesn’t matter.” She hisses again almost shrugging her jacket back onto her shoulders as she leans on Harry’s out stretched arm to steady herself as she stretches.
“Come on Capt’n we can get Gil to read you a bed time story and everything.” He grins confused when Uma’s lip trembles slightly. “Capt’n.” “Harry.” She sighs her forehead resting against his chest as his arms automatically wrap around her. “What’s going on love.” His voice softens as he kisses her forehead watching as she wipes at her eyes. “Nothing; I mean that. Nothings wrong; just everything is happening all the time at once.” “It’s too much yeah?”
“Yes! My mom wants me to work 24/7 at the shop and the Revenge crew need me, not mention everything with Mal and you need me and I don’t even get time to myself let alone time to be with you anymore! I feel like if I try to put effort in to one thing everything else is going to suffer! I can’t let you or the Revenge suffer like that, I can’t Harry.” “Hey Uma, love, it’s okay.”
“Its not! I love you; I can’t just let you suffer because I can’t handle everything.” “If you love me you’ll let me help you.” Harry tries to keep his voice even but it still cracks over the word love and Uma can’t help the faint smile on her face as she catches it. “You’re my first mate; I’m not going to just dump the Revenge on you.” “You’re not dumping anything on me, besides I have Gil as a second so it works well enough. We can keep the ship running while you take time for yourself.” “I can’t just because I’m a little tired…“
“It doesn’t matter why Uma; you need to take time for yourself. None of us want our Captain dropping on deck from exhaustion and I don’t want to see my girl exhausted unless I’m the cause of it. For now it seems everything with Mal has sorted itself out; we can’t do anything until the barrier is dropped anyways.” “If I miss anything while I’m napping..” “I’ll hook anyone who disturbs you, now an actual bed might  be a better start than that chair.” ———————————————————————————–
“Capt’n” “Yes?” Uma arches an eyebrow her feet resting on the rail of the deck as Gil lounges in front of her letting her braid his hair. “Gil, scram.” Harry taps his foot. “She’s almost finished with my hair.” “She can finish it later. Capt’n.” Harry hums and Uma watches as he gestures up to the wheel. “What’s wrong now?”
“Nothing.” Uma catches him glancing awkwardly over the rest of the crew. “Harry, what did they do this time. Did Gil do something in Auradon again? I’ve told him we can’t bridge hop like that.” “It’s not that; I mean it’s involving Auradon.” “What happened?” “Nothing yet! Jesus, I just, I remember how you were always saying you wanted to go swimming at Auradon so I may have gotten a sort of vacation organized.” “When I was like eight; Sort of vacation?”
“Yeah, just a few days for uh, us, to go over and spend the day swimming a couple nice dinners just, Gil.” Harry hisses and Uma can hear Gil stumbling down the steps, when she turns her head she can see him standing at the bottom of the stairs. “What’s that?” Uma leans forward and Gil shifts backwards. “A sword.” “I can see that.” She turns back towards Harry who looks unimpressed at Gil from over the ships railing.
“What did he do, it’s not like you to protect him. He must’ve done something all of you are acting weirder than normal. Oh my god is Gil going to be in charge while we’re gone? Is that what this is about?” Uma whips her head back to see Gil nervously wave. “I mean as the second mate he is by default. Plus he can marry us.” “You think I’d marry you because you took me swimming in Auradon?” “No, I think that’s more the post engagement honeymoon.” “That’s not a thing Harry.” “Depends how you answer.” He laughs and it edges on nervousness as Uma turns, her gaze dropping to where Harry kneels in front of her. “Harry.” Uma sighs and Harry grins at her. “Uma, we probably-“ “Yes.” “I had a whole speech planned out, it took me forever to figure out to say how much I love you and everything you can at least…”
“Yes.” “I know what yes means!” “Then get up. So Gil can apparently perform his second mate duties.” “No but-“ “Harry, I said yes. I want to marry you.” Harry seems frozen nodding softly before swallowing and licking his lips. “You want to marry me.” “That is what yes means.” Harry nods turning his head to look out at the current sunset. “Harry?” Uma walks around watching his fingers playing with the ring he’d gotten her. She doesn’t let her eyes linger on it, fingers brushing up harry’s arm to his neck turning his head so he’s forced to rest his forehead on hers.
“Harry.” She hums and he grins a little locking eyes with her. “You want to marry me?” He giggles a little and Uma fondly rolls her eyes. “I love you. Of course I do. Stop crying I can’t have my future husband looking like a crybaby in front of the crew.” “You’re just saying that cause if I cry you’ll cry.” Harry laughs a little and Uma turns back to the crew avoiding the fain wetness in his laughter and on his face.

Out of the Water - Chapter V
Synopsis: You were very proud to be a mermaid, thank you very much. You didn’t want to be where the people were. Actually, you’d rather avoid it. Defending the merfolk was the biggest goal in your life… well, it was until you meet a certain pirate… it seems that your family really had a thing for humans, after all. Not that you’d ever admit it…
Pairing: Harry x reader
Word count: 4514
Part 5 of ?
Warnings: none? Possibly grammar mistakes? Also, some cuss words
A/N: English isn’t my first language, so I’ll probably mess up some tenses, grammar and stuff. Go easy on me, please. Feedback is always appreciated.
The sun was fading away in the horizon and soon it would be dark and, as you walked, you wondered why everything in this damned kingdom had to be so far away? Didn't they have magic carpets or something like that? Besides, since it was getting darker by the second, the sense of urgency was growing too. You had the feeling that Audrey was just playing with you - she obviously knew where you were, so why she didn't make a move yet? It was like a cat and mouse game and you were the mice heading towards a trap. Also, Mal having the Amber did not put your mind at ease since you didn't have the advantage.
You were literally entering to the lion's lair willingly.
"What happened between you and Hook?" You raised an eyebrow and Evie, who had come to talk to you, explained. "We heard the screaming. I know he can be difficult to deal with, but soon we'll all be in Auradon together".
Evie was way too good for this world, wasn't she? You didn't have the heart to contradict her or tell the atrocity the pirate had done to you.
"I know, sweetie. Don't worry, I'll try to be civil, even if the person in question is an utterly jerk who deserves a punch".
She sighed, looking almost disappointed. Obviously, you didn't give the answer she was hoping for but honestly, what was she expecting from you? Moreover, your response was nice enough, considering Harry was annoying and a water thief.
"That's a beginning, I suppose. But I think we can work on the aggressive attitude, though" she said with a shrug.
Oh, maybe you should have skipped the punching part... If she thought that was violent, you hoped she never found out that you almost chopped Harry's finger off, then.
As the time passed you grew impatient, it was already night and no one was in a chatty mood anymore. As for you, you've never wished for a day to end so fast and, on top of that, something else was bothering you and it was not the perspective of facing Psycho Audrey. Maybe it was the fact that once everything was over, Mal would let the kids off the Isle (it was what she had promised, after all). However, as much as you want to believe her, you had your doubts. Either way, nothing would ever be the same.
Finally, you arrived at Fairy Cottage and crossed the garden very quietly, trying not to draw attention to yourselves. When you finally got at the building, Ben burst the door open.
Great way to go unnoticed.
However, in the end, it didn't matter because Audrey wasn't there and your little journey had been a waste of time, thereby she was still on the loose and you had no one idea where she could be or what she was planning to do (but whatever it was, it would be unpleasant). Suddenly, the sound of a bustling knock filled the air startling everybody.  Ben followed the source of the disturbence and discovered a very scared Chad locked in the pantry.
The poor thing looked completely distressed and hysterical and, soon after, he mumbled some nonsense and rushed off without a second thought.
"Well, at least he is pretty" you said out loud. How Cinderela could have had such a foolish son was beyond your comprehension, but his golden locks made up for the lack of discernment.
Harry laughed and the clumsy encounter with Chad lifted everyone's spirit and, when you left the Cottage, there weren't Mal's gang or Uma's crew anymore, just friends trying to save the world. Even if you were all doomed; at least you'd end up things in good terms.
Yeah, that's what you naively thought.
Evie told Ben about Mal's promise and apparently Mal had had other plans that she didn't bother sharing with anyone: she was going to close the barrier for good. No more in, no more out.
Nothing serious or extreme.
No reason to freak out...
Holly shit!
You felt like a fool!
Just to think that you gave your word to Harry and Gil that Ben wouldn't do that! You were so mad that you couldn't even talk and it never happened before! Also, you didn't have the heart to face Uma, not after you said to her things were changing for the better. You knew how Uma pretended to be tough, but right now her spirit had been shattered...
Harry confronted Ben about the lie and you thought he'd lose his shit and gut someone, but he just looked completely broken, like someone had taken away his will to fight. Even though Harry and Uma knew pain and betrayal, they didn't expect this. They trusted the people of Auradon were different and they were let down.
Things weren't suppose to go this way! You wanted to do something! Anything! But what?
It was then that Celia took the amber from Mal's hand and threw it into the water. Well, if you were screwed before, now you were hopeless. At least it was for a good cause, if people in Auradon thought their lives were worthier than the life of the inhabitants of the Isle, let them rot. You couldn't even be mad at Uma for leaving since that was what you wanted to do too, but you knew there was nothing you could do to help her in this moment. Actually, you knew Uma well enough to know that going after her would only bother her.
The words Harry said to you earlier about Auradon's privilege echoed in your mind and you couldn't stay put anymore.
"I know this is not my place to say something. I mean, most of the time I'm not even here, I'm not a VK and closing the barrier doesn't affect my life... but it does. It does because there are people there, good people destined to live a dreadful life just because they were born on that Isle! People in Auradon have been living their perfect little lives where everything is pretty and colorful while we claim to be the good guys, but what we have done to the villains and their kids is atrocious! There will always be good and evil, that's how life works and we can't run away from it. Deciding which path to follow is what defines someone's true self, but in order to make this decision we need to have a chance. Mal, you of all people should know that, you had a chance and now that your life is good you want to deny those children the same opportunity? From this day on, every time you play 'happily ever after' with your prince charming, know that you are doing it at the expense of a child on that Isle"
You wish you had heard Mal's reply, but as soon as you finished talking, the world froze.
                                                     _______
Legend says that you were indeed the hottest stone statue in Auradon, but it didn't soothe you a bit. To say you were pissed was not nearly enough to express what you were feeling right now. If Audrey weren't already dying, you would have gladly killed her yourself. The only reason why you were still in the awful human world was Uma... this, and also because becoming stone had consumed all your energies and right now you were way too busy drinking a huge bottle of salted water to not die of dehydration.
Your grandfather would have to choose another diplomat because you were never ever setting foot on land again.
Maybe, if you weren't so angry, you would have choked on your drink when Mal told Hades was her father.
It explained a lot about her, though.
So, Hades, Mal's father, was the only one who could save Audrey and they were going to fetch him on the Isle to help the dying girl. Oh! The double standard! When a kid from Auradon curses everybody is "a mistake", but if someone from the Isle does that is "they are too dangerous, let's lock them up forever". Is it fair? No. Does anyone care? Also no.
You thought it couldn't get any worse, but boy, you were wrong. Uma just said she was going back to the Isle, which was pretty understandable and expected, but you had one itty-bitty tiny hope that she would stay.
Oh, on top of that, everyone accepted Mal and Ben's selfish decision to close the barrier. You scoffed under your breath, salted water wasn't enough to deal with all this, you needed something stronger, like vodka. The good thing was, since everyone was leaving and your cousins were safe, you had no more business in the human world and you took your cue from the VKs to announce your own departure too.
You waited for the limo alongside Uma, Harry, Gil and Celia, the atmosphere was tense, and you had seen happier people at funerals.
"I thought you were going back to Atlantica" the teal haired girl said, breaking the overwhelming silence.
"I'll go with you... until we reach the barrier, at least" your voice was more hoarse than you expected it to.
"Yeah, don't want to risk getting trapped, right?" If this was supposed to be a mean comment, Harry had failed; he just sounded sad, like everyone else. The pirate wasn't expecting an answer but you gave him one, anyway.
"I wouldn't mind going to the Isle, but there is no magic there and no magic means no legs for me, so you would be stuck with a mermaid... unless you don't care to carry me around..." you half-joked.
The car finally arrived and you got into it. It was nice that Ben sent the limo to pick up the VKs, and the guard's vehicle was going ahead, probably to go find Hades. There was all sorts of food in the limo, but no one touched them because all of you were way too lost in your own minds to be hungry. As you were approaching the Isle the unsettling feeling in your stomach grew worst and there was definitely something wrong with your eyes. Just before the car crossed the barrier, you asked the driver to stop. For one second, it seemed he would argue against it, but you gave him a warning look, since you weren't in the mood for more useless fights.
"Uma, can we talk outside for one second, please?" you asked.
You two got out of the car and, as soon as Uma closed the door, you hugged her.
"I'm sorry, Uma. I'm so sorry" the only thing you could do was to repeat how sorry you were, but you knew your apologies didn't change anything.
"I know" she reassured you, looking in your eyes "It's not your fault, you shouldn't be apologizing".
"Someone has to" you said, your felt so tight in your chest that hurt. Then, Uma smiled and hold your hand.
"Thanks for everything you've done for me. I don't know how I would have gone through the past months without you"
"You'd have done just fine, you're a fighter" it was now or never, you lowered your voice so even if someone in the car was paying attention to the conversation, they wouldn't hear you "You can still change your mind, let's go back to Atlantica and, before you interrupt me, Harry and Gil can come too. I have no idea how this is going to work but we'll figure it out" you offered her - you had to try.
"You know I can't abandon the Isle, speacially now" her eyes were full of sorrow, she knew exactly what meant to go back "Maybe you can swim near the barrier so we can see each other from time to time".
You knew she would say that, but it didn't mean it hurt any less.
"Definitely!" you tried to sound cheerful, but the words that left your mouth were robotic and fake "We'll see each other again".
This was a lie, even if you saw each other it would never be the same. The realization hit you hard and that weird feeling that you had in the car, finally made sense when streams of salt water started falling from your eyes.
"I'm leaking!" you freaked out "What is that?! I'm leaking!"
"You're crying, you idiot" she laughed, her eyes watering too.
"Nonsense, mermaids don..." before you could complete the sentence, Uma hugged you again, which made you start crying even harder.
No, not crying, leaking.
"I promise, Uma. I'll not stop fighting for the Isle. I'll talk to Mal, Ben or whoever I must to! They will change their minds, even if, in order to do so, I have to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them".
You didn't know how long you two stayed crying in each others arms but a voice with a thick accent called both of you after a while.
"Are you ladies alright?" Harry asked. The pirate and Gil were standing there next to both of you. The dark haired boy had a hint of curiosity on his face but he knew better than to tease his captain.
You two pulled away from the hug, Uma looked slightly embarassed to get caught in such an emotional moment.
"I can't believe I'm leaking" you said while trying to wipe away the tears from your eyes; however, they insisted on falling down.
This was so awkward.
"You're not leaking, you're crying" Gil's brow furrowed "Don't you know what crying is?"
"Yes, I do... it's just I've never cried before..." you said between sobs.
"Wow, life in Auradon must be really perfect if people don't even cry here" for the firts time since you met him, he sounded sad. The boy was probably thinking about all the opportunities he would never have in Auradon because he was destined to live on the Isle forever.
They took away Gil's bright smile and you could not forgive that.
"It's not that... I live in the sea, tears don't fall when you are under water" you explained, finally calming down.
"Maybe the ocean is just a big pool of mermaid's tears." Gil said absently, eyeing the vast blue ocean in front of him and you couldn't help but hug the blonde boy too.
The Sea Bitch was such a softie.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Gil. I wish we had more time to know each other better, but I know for sure that you're loyal, brave and gentle. I hope you are very happy. You deserve it".
You broke apart short after and Gil seemed very touched by your words.
"Thanks... that was one of nicest things that someone ever said to me" he offered you a shy smile "I wish you the same".
You looked at Harry, who looked back right into your eyes. You stared at each other until you hold out your hand, which he accepted. It was weird, Harry Hook has gotten on your nerves since the very first moment you met. He was smug, annoying and a little crazy, but at the same time he was very funny and fearless, qualities that you admired. You wanted to say something, but before you could open your mouth he let go of your hand.
That was it, then.
You also said goodbye to Celia and wished her the best. Then, the VKs got into the car again and, since Harry was the last one standing outside, you took the chance to ask him a favor.
"Please, take care of Uma"
His face broke into small smile and he nodded slightly.
You watched with a shattered heart the limo cross the barrier, taking away your friends from you forever.
There was nothing else you could do, so you jumped into the ocean and disappeared between the waves.
Not an hour ago all you wanted was to be back home, but now everything seemed pointless. For the last months Uma lived in Atlantica and going back without her gave you a knot in the stomach, things wouldn't be the same anymore without your friend there. The two of you used to spend hours plotting ways to get everyone off the Isle, finding a hole in the barrier or just talking about the future... and now you had nothing but crushed hopes. Of course you wouldn't give up, but you felt like you had moved backwards 10 spaces in the game, you fought for the merfolk on the Isle for so long and when it finally seemed that everything was going to be fine, it was a lie.
You were so absorbed in your thoughts that you didn't pay attention to where you were heading, which caused you to bump into your mother and younger brother.
"Where have you been"? Attina asked, her voice was somewhere between angry and concerned, but it was impossible to miss the vein popping out on her forehead "I was worried sick about you!"
"Sorry mom, I was in Auradon" you told her, knowing very well that this answer would only upset her more because there was no way she hadn't hear about Audrey and her little mishap.
"Auradon?!" The look of horror on her face made clear that she knew about what happened and wasn't happy about it. If humans thought you were hardcore, it was because they never talked to your mother "Do you know what Sleeping Beauty's daughter did?"
If you knew? You lived and survived it.
"I heard even Uma was there! Your grandfather was almost sending guards to look for you and your cousins! What happened?"
"Did you finally meet Uma, then?" your brother, Nereus, joined the conversation. He didn't know anything about Uma or that you two were friends. Also, he had no idea that he had talked to her many times when she was under the charm spell.
Then, your mother called by your full name, which never meant something good.
"You weren't there in hopes to befriend Ursula's daughter and bring all the merfolk from the Isle to Atlatica, were you?" Your mother knew you so well... and she wasn't happy.
"Of course not, mom..." I'm already friends with Uma, you added mentally.
Before she started complaining, you explained everything that happened that day (ok, almost everything, you definitely skipped some parts). Her disapproval face grew to the point her vein was ready to explode, while your brother gasped and cheered at the most exciting parts, as you told the story. Under other circumstances you would have narrated the events in a dramatic and majestic way, not sparing any single detail; however, it was way too painful to remember that was your first and last adventure with Uma and her crew.
"Will they close the barrier forever for real?" Nereus asked and, when you nodded, he offered you a sympathetic smile. He knew how much you fought for the merpeople on the Isle.
Your mother, on the other hand, had other things bothering her.
"So, you tell me that they let a bunch of kids fight against a delusional girl who held one of the most dangerous tools of dark magic in the kingdom? Where were Fairy Godmother, the Blue Fairy, the 3 Good Fairies? You can't trust fairies, that's what I always say to your grandfather! Where were Belle and the Beast? Any adults?!" as she talked, her voice got more and more high-pitched, until she was practically shouting.
"They were probably under Audrey's spell" you enlightned her, even knowing that it would not ease her mind one bit.
"That's an absurd! How can we trust our kids to go to Auradon Prep if they can't keep the security system of a museum working properly?!"
You and your brother exchanged looks. Although your mother had a valid point, you didn't want to hear any of it, which was odd, because you never missed the opportunity to roast the human world.
Claiming to be tired, you excused yourself and swam to your room and, as soon as you got there, you glanced at the spot where Uma would used to stay, knowing that you'd probably never talk to her again. You felt like someone was crushing your heart and if you weren't under the sea, tears would be rolling down your face. You lay on the bed, trying to stop thinking about Uma, the Isle and everything. It was a good thing that you were exhausted, so you soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
You weren't sure how much time had passed, but, suddenly, you were woken by someone knocking on your door. You cursed under your breath, who, in the seven seas, was disturbing you right now? Not even bothering to look up, you invited whoever was at your door to come in, you heard them entering and closing the door and, after a moment, you felt the weight of someone sitting on your bed.
They coughed and you recognized the deep voice that belonged to none other than your grandfather, King Triton.
"Grandpa!" you sat up quickly and hugged him.
"Hello, my dear" everyone feared your grandfather for he had quite a dauntless reputation (even you had to admit that he was frightening sometimes), also, his temper was known in all Auradon. However, when he looked at you with those gentle eyes, you forgot he was the King of the ocean, in these moments he was just your grandfather and you fell protected and loved near him.
"Oh grandpa, it was dreadful and I'm misarable" you hugged him again, hiding your face on his neck.
"Your mother told me what happened and that King Ben wants to close the barrier" his voice was so calm that it was difficult to imagine that when he was angry he could create storms and tsunamis.
"That's horrible. I feel so powerless and guilty! I know most of people think everyone in the Isle is evil but that's not true! They are kind and loyal and they don't deserve to be doomed to perish in that place! You should have seem their faces when Mal told them the program had been shut down" your grandfather wasn't know for his love for villains, everytime someone brought Ursula up he got riled up and changed the subject quickly, but you needed to speak out.
"And who are 'they' that you're talking about?" he asked, stroking you hair softly to confort you.
"You know... Celia, Gil, Harry... and Uma" you were nervous to talk about Uma with him. Actually, despite him knowing that you were in charge for her "search party" you have never discussed that you wanted to bring her to Atlantica, even more that you had brought her to the palace clandestinely and that she lived under his roof for months.
"Uma?" his voice was stern when he said your friend's name.
"Grandpa" you straightned up and looked him in the eye "I know it must be hard for you because Ursula caused great pain to our family but Uma has nothing to do with it, she is brave, smart and care so much about other people. She had the chance to stay in Auradon but she came back to the Isle because she couldn't abandon them! She might has taken some questionable decisions, but who hasn't? She was fighting for what she believed was right! Isn't it what you taught me?"
King Triton furrowed his brows; the wrinkles in his forehead were visible which could only mean he was deliberating something.
"You do seem to know a lot about her" he said after a while, his voice and face were severe and you swallowed... this conversation was taking a dangerous path.
"Well... I..."
Before you could finish the sentence, your grandfather cut you off.
"I know what you did"
You froze, he couldn't possibly be talking about Uma living in Atlantica. There was no way he knew that, if he had had any suspicion of what you did, he would have been beyond furious, so you tried to play cool.
"What are you talking about, grandpa?"
He raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"I know you brought Uma to live here in Atlantica"
And then you died.
The end.
Oh wait.
You weren't dead... but you were sure your grandfather just told you that he knew about Uma... Something was terribly wrong. He probably noticed your bulging eyes and horrified expression because he elucidated soon after.
"I raised seven daughters, my darling. I don't need my trident to see through a charm spell and a lie" it was weird, his voice was strangely serene and he looked slightly amused.
"But... how... like... why... Aren't you angry?" there weren't enough words to describe your shock right now.
"I learned to trust the people I love a long time ago, even when we don't agree on the subject." his tone was solemn and wise and it made you feel so small and pathetic because you knew you had disappointed him.
"I'm sorry, grandpa.... I'm sorry that I lied to you and that I disappointed you, but I'm not sorry for what I did" you didn't have the courage to look him in the eyes, but he lifted up your face and smiled.
"You didn't disappoint me. I trusted you enough to let you do what you thought was right, that was what I taught you. And considering everything I saw in the last months, I believe Uma is a good girl and I'm glad you're friends"
You returned his smile, not in your wildest dreams you thought your grandfather would understand this and it made you so glad how supportive and understanding he was about everything.
"I'm sorry for lying to you! I won't do it again" you promised him.
"You're young, you will" he laughed it off "But trust me when I say that I'll be by your side no matter what"
Everything should be perfect; however, there were a bitter feeling in your mouth and a knot in the pit of your stomach that you couldn't get rid of. In the end, it didn't matter if your grandfather trusted Uma or not, because she would be trapped on the Isle forever.
"So… I think I need your help" you bit your lip, uncertain of how to say it "We can't let them close the barrier for good, but I don't know what to do!"
"Don't worry, I promised I'll talk to King Ben about this. They can't just close the barrier like this without measuring the consequences" he reassured you "Now, rest, my darling. You had a long day"
He got up and swan towards your door, but before leaving he turned his head and said.
"Otherwise, you have my permission to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them" he winked at you and left.
"Wait" you whispered to yourself "How does he even know?"
And then it hit you.
"SEBASTIAN!"

Disclaimer: Vertical Limit Not Mine / Basically a massive excuse to have 4000 words of banter / you better believe I got Tom McLaren in here / gifs and lyrics not mine
Premise: Malcolm Bench is back from K2 for winter break. You love snow, having to work in it 24/7 he does not - today you’re determined to change his mind...
Words: 4133
Warnings: swearing / sexual connotations
____
Have you seen the mistletoe? It fills the night with kisses Have you seen the bright new star? It fills your heart with wishes Have you seen the candlelight? It shines from every window Have you seen the moon above? It lights the sky in silver
Have you heard the boys all sigh When all the girls are skating? Have you heard the sweetheart's cry For all this time they're waiting?
Green is in the mistletoe And red is in the holly Silver in the stars above That shine on everybody Gold is in the candlelight and Crimson in the embers White is in the winter night That everyone remembers
Have you seen the children playing? Tiny hands are frozen! Have you seen them hurry home When suddenly it's snowing!
---
Waiting for Malcolm to return home from K2 was always painful, especially at this time of year. People liked their winter climbing getaways - but he liked to come home when it was a little too dangerous out on the mountains. He also wanted to take breaks to be with you: although wintertime was not always his favourite period to do so… because he saw snow 24/7 at work. He didn’t need to see it at home with you too. There was always the fear that it would be too dangerous for him to come back, and it wasn’t just the weather patterns there that mattered, but where you lived too. There had been plenty of times when his flights had been delayed, or he’d had to spend time in the airport overnight, because no planes were going to move under any circumstances. Luckily yesterday the plane home had at least taken off, and although the weather reports were all threatening snow storms here & the air was cold, the sky had been clear all day and not a flake had fallen yet. You prayed it would stay that way at least until you got him inside the house. But then you liked the look of the blanket of white across your front yard and the roads. Especially when it was freshly fallen and no-one had walked or driven through it yet. How it looked so crisp and sparkled in the sunshine; it always felt like you were a child again, when you used to play out in it for hours without a care in the world. Nowadays the cold got to you a little quicker, but that didn’t make it any less magical to you. As you drove to the airport, the weather again was interrupting your favourite tunes to warn of a particularly bad storm front coming. You didn’t think you’d greet Malcolm with this information - he’d probably grumble and turn right around to get on the flight back.
You received a text that he’d landed before you’d even reached the arrivals waiting area, which meant you wouldn’t be standing around too long for him. Bonus! But as you leant against the barrier you couldn’t help but watch everyone with their brightly coloured signs - awaiting the arrival of family and partners. You thought back to the day previous; all the girlfriends of everyone up on K2 had their own texting group and you all found it fairly cathartic to fret together (luckily that was seldom necessary) or share K2 news, or climbing photographs (at least one of you was up there every so often), or whatever you felt like really. And Tom McLaren’s girlfriend had texted you yesterday to let you know her man was back home, with a little note ‘And yours tomorrow! x’. If Tom was home then it really must have been end of season. They were due to get married soon - and their engagement often had you poking fun at Malcolm and subtly dropping hints as to when and where he was going to pop the question. Only for him to narrow his eyes at you and scoff and say “Well, I won’t be doing it like Tom fucking McLaren, that’s for sure!” You could only laugh. You had to agree though, the picture-perfect life of the Colorado Kid was not for either of you. Seeing Malcolm again always made you nervous, and you tapped your foot to a silent beat, taking controlled breaths - you supposed it was the effect of him being so far away for so long. Almost like figuring someone out all over again - as much as it was like no time had passed at all; always so giddy, like it was the first time you realised you had a crush on him. You received relentless teasing about that - probably because the Bench brothers were the two biggest idiots on K2. BUT they both had an insane amount of climbing knowledge, it made for an interesting combination; and you were definitely dating the sweeter of the two. You stood straight, on high alert, as the arrivals doors opened and Malcolm walked through, backpack slung over his shoulder. You were just going to give him a casual wave and let him walk over but his eyes scanned the crowd, looking fairly tired from his long-haul flight - and as soon as they locked on you, he lit up completely. And that cheeky little smile of his had you running - Malcolm stopped, bracing himself for your hug. “Ooof-! Geez, Y/N! Okay I get it! You’d think I’d be away for MONTHS!!!” He laughed so loud people started turning towards you but you didn’t care, you’d missed this goof like heck. And damn, that Australian accent. “Just let me miss you for 5 seconds dammit!” You pulled back with a smile, “Okay flight?” “As good as can be expected.” He checked his watch, “Annnnd that’s your five seconds, so I suppose within the hour you’ll be wanting to get me on the first plane back!” Your face burned; that was a joke one time and he’d never let you get away with it. “Weather permitting.” You placed a hand over your mouth, misremembering that you weren’t supposed to be saying anything about the snow. “Oh.” His face fell, “I knew it was all a little too good to be true.”
“Well, I suppose I should get you home before you grumble anymore…” He gasped, “You mean all that way and I don’t even get a kiss-!?” “Malcolm!” Okay, you took it back, his voice just had to be that loud, “I was getting to it!” You still had your arms around him and pulled yourself back to his lips. It was gentle and sweet and he wound his arms around you too, running a hand through your hair. Although when you pulled back you were a little shy, looking into his big brown eyes, “...Welcome home.” “Glad to be back!” He grinned, stepping out of your arms to take your hand in his, “Ah, civilisation!” You noticed the Colorado accent he put on and snorted, “Is that what you think he says when he gets home!?” “What, Mr. Fucking Perfect? Prince Charming of K2, Tom McLaren? Oh yeah.” “Well,” You shook your head and kissed him again, “I much prefer my little Australian hot mess.” There was a small smirk on his face, “Oh, you think I’m hot? I knew it!” “For sure! You can melt the snow all on your own-!” You winked, knowing he’d love that tease. “Ah, Fuckin’ have it-!” *** He was out of the car and bounding up to the front door before you’d even switched the engine off; you could do nothing but chuckle and roll your eyes. “So eager to be stuck in a house?” “Well,” Malcolm looked up at the outside for a minute, hopping from foot to foot and craning his neck, “it’s stuck in a house with you, ain’t it?!” He turned with a grin as you unlocked the front door, “I mean there’s plenty you can do stuck in a house…!” You gave him a sideways glance, “Give it a couple of days you’ll be screaming and wishing that you’re back in the great outdoors on top of a mountain.” “NOOOO-! Give it at least a week! I get to sleep in a proper bed!” “Mal, every time you come home you spend at least the first few days sleeping on the floor because you can’t get used to sleeping in a bed-!” “A’right, just pin me there-!” You blinked at him a few times as he leapt into the house, “I mean don’t tempt me, but I’m gonna need to tape your mouth shut too.” “Kinky, but I’d do it for you…!” He winked before hurtling towards the stairs and taking them in twos. You sighed, head in your hands. Why did you miss this? Maybe you’d be the one wishing he was back on a mountain… You glanced up at the ceiling - he also hadn’t noticed all the winter decor yet. But you supposed you’d give him time. You always liked theming your house for the season - not just the holiday within the season - and you always liked sending Malcolm aesthetic pictures, where he would graciously (if he was homesick) tell you that he wished he was there, and how pretty they were. Or sometimes just ask ‘what the heck is that!?’ and you’d have to put your phone down for five minutes whilst trying not to give up and throw it all away in a huff. When Malcolm trudged down the stairs slowly you noticed him looking around, although you broke the silence, “Did your brother get back okay too?” You knew Cyril was heading back to their hometown for the break. “Uh, he’s probably still in the air somewhere!” Malcolm leant around the banister, “I’m glad there’s no fake snow.” “Why have fake when you can have the real thing?” “Please no.” “Mal, I already told you the weather forecast says it’s on the way.” He pressed his lips together in his best attempt not to grimace; “Why can’t it be tropical when I get home?” “Babe, it’s wintertime, if you want a tropical vista you shoulda said and I’d have booked a vacation-!” Or he could have asked you to meet him in his native Australia, you knew it was summer there. He froze suddenly - so you knew he wasn’t listening - and when his face lit up you knew he’d spotted it; hurling himself over the banister Malcolm dropped to the floor none too gracefully - leaving you with your head in your hands one again. “My house isn’t a mountain face.” “Duly noted…” He pointed to the ceiling, “That’s mistletoe!” Yes! And mostly because he was coming home. “There’s mistletoe in here!? Come make out with me----!” You laughed as he joyfully whined the last word, and you were only too happy to walk forward into his arms, “Promise no more griping about snow?” “I’ll make no such promise.” You huffed. “Can’t blame me for trying…” He wound his arms around you and pulled you into a short sweet kiss. You were already giggling a little as you looped your hands around his neck, running them through his hair. You supposed it was just because you were giddy about him being home - getting to hold him this close again. With Malcolm’s body pressed up against yours, you were surprised his hands were staying so respectful; but there was time yet! The kiss was slow and soft, his tongue running your bottom lip gently, almost cautious about it. If you weren’t so caught up in it you would for sure have teased him about whether or not he’d forgotten how to kiss. This was your first ‘real’ intimate moment with him for months and months, and you were right, it was about getting to know each other again; even with the familiarity of this feeling. Like a jigsaw piece being put into place once more. You knew you fit right with him, you were happy to be back where you belonged. *** Inevitably his hands didn’t stay put, and you ended up laying back on your couch, his hands roaming over your body. You knew that it would be a few days before you actually slept together: you weren’t joking about him sleeping on the floor. If Malcolm slept in bed he was restless, and there was too much to get used to. Room temperature, mattress, sheets and you… sharing a bed with someone else. There’d be a lot of suggestive remarks and a bunch of almosts, like this one. Or forgetting himself for a moment over morning coffee, where he’d push you up against the kitchen counter - but you had to let Malcolm ground himself back on… well, the ground - a normal altitude - before he’d really be up for anything like that. Still, you weren’t about to lie - you kinda wanted to take that shirt off him when his hands were cupping your ass or grazing your bare skin where your own shirt had ridden up. You’d missed him a lot, and besides having him back, you had none of that other ‘normal’ stuff to get used to. You knew you had to be patient; but steamy making out on the couch was a good substitute, for sure. As you’d been doing this, the weather outside had been steadily changing; and you’d noticed the light changes in the room, but both of you had been far too absorbed in other things. However, when you paused for breath for just a second, both panting - clearly just not able to get enough of each other after months of waiting to kiss again (especially when the lingering memory of the last one was always the kiss goodbye, and hurt like hell) - you looked up to the window and immediately gasped. Flakes of snow were already falling; although not so thick yet, you could already see it settling over the grass and sidewalks… and on the road. You leapt off him, excitement rushing through you as you ran to the window. Immediately full-on child-like wonder. Malcolm stared at the snow for a minute and grimaced, hadn’t he just left enough of this? Why did it have to follow him here!? “What!? You’re kidding right!? You could be making out with me!” “Mal! Malcolm!!! Oh my gosh look-! LOOK! It’s settling!!” Snow had never lost its charm with you. It made you think of too many good memories: staying out in it and playing with your friends and family until your face was red and fingers and toes freezing, long romantic walks you had taken with past lovers, and ice-skating, you’d had skiing trips too, and some of your best snow memories truly were half way up a mountain with the Bench Brothers. But snow meant so much more: cuddling up under blankets with hot drinks and watching trashy movies - or good ones - both with family and the person you loved the most. And you loved those quieter moments with Malcolm too, even though he was so high energy. Those moments where there was nowhere to go, and nowhere to be but than with each other. You were grinning to yourself as you sprinted out of the room and up the stairs. Malcolm sighed to himself: “Oh my god- Y/N! What are you doing!?!” “Getting dressed!” You yelled back, rushing around to pull on a good coat, hat, scarf, boots and gloves. (Only because you knew Malcolm was about to lecture you on safety precautions, even when he sometimes sat out there on K2 in literally nothing.) As you finished getting ready and approached the window again the flurry was crazy - and you could barely see out of it for flakes of snow, building up nicely on the ground. That only made you even more excited, Malcolm looked from the snow to you and back. “Now before you go crazy, just remember, it may look nice but it’s a death trap!” “Malcolm. I’m not 10,000 feet up a mountain in thin air with no oxygen, will you stop lecturing me!?!” “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen! There is nothing good about that white stuff-! Even if you think it looks pretty!” That gave you pause for thought for a second - though truly only a second - had he seen bodies out there on his expeditions? Had he seen people die out there…? You shook that thought clear of your mind, now wasn’t the time to think on things like that. “- Then there’s frostbite! Hypothermia-! Heck, even a common cold is a bad thing; I don’t want you to get sick!” You reached for the door and he wedged himself between you and it, “What about when it pelts you in the face, huh!? Cold and painful! What about when your skin gets all dried and cracked and you start bleeding-!?” “Malcolm. Will you please shut up! I’m not listening…!” You yanked the door open, moving him, “You don’t have to come out, but you’re not spoiling it for me!!” By the time you had run to the end of your drive the cold air was already filling your lungs and you couldn’t help but laugh, tipping your head back to catch the snowflakes on your tongue. The neighbourhood kids were all outside now, parents on close watch, also shrieking and laughing and enjoying the first - but certainly not the last - heavy snowfall of the year. You didn’t know what Malcolm was getting at - couldn’t he just see the good side of snow, for once? You were a far cry away from what he was used to; out here everything was safe. You had a nice warm house to return to, what was his problem? Malcolm stood in the doorway, shaking his head at you and still grumbling to himself about the falling snow, before he closed it to keep the cold out and returned to the window to watch you. But as you stayed outside, admiring the scenery and greeting your neighbours, and passers-by - some of whom were asking how Malcolm was, considering they’d seen him come home (and of course you’d been talking about this day for the entire week) - you started walking up and down, and talking and laughing. Some of the kids were even throwing snowballs at you and you had no trouble joining in once or twice. That laugh was so infectious to watch, the way you lit up like that, the unbridled joy of being able to once again be stuck in a pretty winter scene and reminisce, the cold heightening the red in your cheeks. Malcolm found himself smiling and knew he was immediately done for. “Aw. Shit.” He laughed to himself, “Dammit… she’s gone and done it now…” Trudging outside and pretending that he wasn’t just so happy to see you happy, Malcolm put on his best grumpy face. You ran to him, but couldn’t help laughing at the fact he was dressed like he was about to attempt a summit climb. “Sooo it’s not all that bad huh!?” His eyes narrowed, “You’re kiddin’, I’m worried about you! Helloooo, bad things happen in the cold, weren’t you listening!?” “No. Not at all.” You gave him a teasing grin before trying to kiss that grumpy look off his face. It half worked, and Malcolm couldn’t help but grin before he tried to make himself look stoic again. You looped your arms through his as you walked slowly to the end of the drive and he also watched the kids rolling around in the snow and shrieking and having a good time. Growing up in Australia he didn’t have a lot to compare to this, but he could draw enough comparisons from other childhood memories to know what this must feel like for them. You nudged him; “See! The kids enjoy it, why can’t you!?” He pretended to grumble again, “Yeah, they’re kids. They’d hate it if they worked in it too!!” “I bet if you asked them, they’d love your job.” He laughed, “Great, they can have it and I’ll stay here with you-!” “Well, if you could be so persuaded…!” You leant into him and Malcolm turned to you with an eyebrow raised, ‘just jo-king.’ Although you caught that tiny smile lifting at the corners of his mouth as your joy bled into him. Malcolm could only admit, he was very happy to be out in the snow with you. The way the snow fell and settled on your coat, the tiny flakes in your eyelashes, and where it was melting and leaving sparkles on your skin. You were admiring the same on him; how it settled in his dark hair, and how the ones in his eyelashes were really bringing out that deep brown in his eyes, that were already getting accentuated against that white background. You looked back to the neighbourhood for a moment, glad that the cold could hide your blush. It was very cute; this winter scene just looked like one of those little painted postcards you’d often seen sold around this time of year.
You didn’t get to admire the cold for long and almost screeched in surprise as you were hit in the face with just a little bit of snow. The cold against your skin was shocking. You spluttered as you turned back to your boyfriend; “What was that for!?” Malcolm smirked, raising his eyebrow slightly, “Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you liked snow!?” You shoved him, which only made him laugh. “Not when your boyfriend is throwing it in your face like that!” “Just admit I’m right!” You swayed backwards, arms folded, look on your face set hard: “To you?! About snow!? Never!” This scrabbling around in the snow continued for a few minutes, until you were both flushed and giggling. You wiped droplets of water from your face, still not ready to concede his point about snow. He knew you weren’t going to either, rubbing the ice from his own cheeks - he was still right about it hurting as it pelted your face, though. You couldn’t help but sigh wistfully as you turned back to him, voice barely above a murmur. “I’m so happy you’re home to see this. And the good things about snow.” Malcolm’s smile almost became a knowing smirk as he hesitated for just a second: “Yeah yeah, what do you really want?” With the snow falling around him like that and the little look on his face, now his cheeks were flushing too you couldn’t help but take the tiny step to kiss him once more. He was only too happy to reciprocate and you shuffled a little closer to his body warmth, already looking forward to getting cozy back in doors afterwards. Even if he’d probably give you some kind of ‘I told you so!’ lecture. Right now you got to kiss him in snowfall and it got to be romantic - no-one's brother yelling at you to get a room, or other idiots at camp wolf-whistling at you (or getting emotional at not having their other halves right there. Which Malcolm said he never did, but how were you to know. You bet he did, secretly.) You just got to kiss him and enjoy the moment, and the soft snowfall. Suddenly you realised that Malcolm had snaked his hands under your coat and your shirt and he didn’t have gloves, AND he’d just been throwing snow around. And you shrieked as his freezing fingers touched your warm skin. “MAL! NO!” But it was too late, he grabbed you, laughing, putting his cold hands on every bit of skin he could possibly reach. You were screaming at him, but also howling with laughter as you tried to wiggle from his grip. “OH GOD! STOP!” You wouldn’t be surprised if the whole neighbourhood was watching you now and shaking their heads, muttering ‘crazy kids’. “Only if you admit snow is bad-!” “Shut up, you are so enjoying this!”
He dropped you back to the floor, chuckling, before he cleared his throat and folded his arms. “A’right. I concede. Probably about as appreciative of snow now than I’ve been in years.” Your face lit up again and you opened your mouth, taking a deep breath for your loud ‘I KNEW IT’ but he held his hand up to stop you, “But only because you’re here.” You immediately deflated, and knew you couldn’t fight him saying something so sweet, instead you punched his arm, “You sap.” Malcolm’s face became unnaturally serious; “You best be careful, Y/N, my hands are still cold!” “NO!” You were screaming again as he grabbed you, but this time he simply lifted you up into his arms, “You drop me in the snow, Malcolm, I swear to god.” “Pretty sure you wouldn’t have a problem with that-!” He grinned; but you weren’t about to let him win twice. Instead you looped your arms around his neck once more touching your nose to his. “Ah-! Now you’re cold-!” But he reciprocated. “I best think about getting you in doors.” “Just shut up about how bad the snow is, and kiss me already!” “Aw, the snow isn’t that bad… really… If I get to share the infectious joy of it with you. And maybe get you warm every so often.” Malcolm grinned, with a cheeky wink, before once more obliging you with a sweet kiss. Oh, you were so glad to have him home.

Little Flame (Hades x reader)
Request: Can I have an imagine where I'm Mal's best friend and I have a crush on Hades and he overhears?
A/N: Made with love, based on @thorxme18 ‘s request (I modified the concept a bit) 🥰 Sorry not sorry but… no smut in this one. Also, this ended up being super long, I think it's like 7k-ish ????  Anyways….. Enjoyyyy and tell me what you think.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Hades x reader
Warning: Cursing
Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Descendants or any of its characters.
Y/I: your initial
Much to your surprise, everything had changed from the last time some VKs were elected to go off-shore. Everyone who wasn't chosen seemed to be happy for those who were; you wished you'd've had that reaction from your mentor and, you'd dare to say friend, Hades. You couldn't bring yourself to stop thinking about it, it made both your mind and your left foot bounce non-stop as you waited for Mal and Ben to make an entrance at the new students' welcoming ceremony.
Ben thanked his people for their support, but not everyone seemed to be sharing the positive attitude on the VK topic. Beside you, you heard Audrey's grandma, whose name you couldn't remember, scoff, "not like we had a choice."
All you did was roll your eyes, after all your time in Auradon, you had grown used to the comments about you being a villain. You listened to Ben while fidgeting with the sleeve of your dress, a grin plastered across your face in expectancy of what was gonna happen after he finished singing. However, just like it happened with the announcement of new arrivals, not everyone was happy about the king's proposal.
"No!" Audrey screamed, making a few threatening glares, including yours, be thrown her way. As cliché as it may sound, it is right to say that, if looks could kill, Audrey would've been dead within seconds (if her jealousy didn't kill her first).
After Mal said yes, everyone began celebrating and commenting on how romantic the gesture had been, how good of a couple they made, and how lucky Auradon's people were to have them.
"Ben and Mal are the absolute best, I really cannot wait for Mal to be queen," said the girl who was standing next to you.
With a smile, you nodded in agreement, "I know, I mean, they work really well together, and they're such a great couple."
"You'd really rather have a VK on the throne than me?"
The girl just turned around and left, but you faked a smile and mocked, "I think even Carlos' dog would make a better queen."
"You're not one to talk, you're one of them yourself," Chad Charming came to Audrey's defense.
"Why thanks, captain obvious, I was completely unaware of that." You rolled your eyes at them as you began making your way to where your friends were standing.
As soon as Mal came down from the stage, you and Evie engulfed her in a tight hug.
"Did you guys know?"
Evie just sighed and grinned, "everything."
You shrugged nonchalantly, "helped plan it." You hugged her once more, thrilled to see her so happy, "you're gonna be the best queen that this pretty, preppy people can even imagine."
….
You stood next to Evie's desk, scanning a new book of sketches she had made for Mal's wedding dress and munching on a chocolate chip cookie.
"Who else knows about the crown and the scepter?" asked Evie, with her brows slightly frowned.
"No one. I mean, think about it, people are scared enough as it is. We have to employ these entirely new security measures". Mal spoke with confidence as she explained the situation to both of you.
For one, you couldn't believe that such important objects had been stolen, and you understood the fear of the people, knowing from first-hand experience how dangerous and wicked villains could be. However, you didn't support the Isle's complete isolation, it was unfair to take such measures.
"Will this delay our bringing over more V.K.'s?" Evie asked.
Mal sighed and replied, "We're talking about closing the barrier for good."
You gasped. "What? M, they can't do that."
Automatically, Evie's notebook rested on the table next to you and began pacing.
"Not only will you kill dozens of children's illusions to be here, but we'd never get to see the others again. You said no, right?"
"Y/N is right, you know? Besides, the four of us are living the dream, and we finally get to share that. I mean, what could be more important than that?" Evie had always been the most compassionate out of the five of you, so she was trying to lead Mal into the path that seemed the kindest.
"Yeah. I know. I mean, maybe security or maybe peace of mind for everyone in Auradon. People like Hades, dangerous and cruel, could get out of the Isle at any moment, I truly believe that it's best for us to keep the barrier closed. For the sake of our people".
"Our people? M, look, don't get me wrong; I really admire how you care about everyone's safety here at Auradon," you sat on a spare chair, between your two best friends, eyes pleadingly looking at Mal. "But you can't afford to forget where we all come from. Better than anyone, we know that not everyone there is a criminal; and, even some of those who are, want a chance to prove themselves. There must be something, anything that can be done."
Mal seemed a bit taken aback, both of you could see that she was having a hard time with the current situation so, even if you didn't completely agree with the measures that she was telling you about, you gave her your most sincere smile and all the support that you could muster.
"M, I'm so glad that you're going to be Queen. You will be a part of these conversations, you will stand up for the V.K.s. Thank you for telling us. You're gonna be a great Queen".
Mal seemed gave you a small closed-lip smile, you and Evie stood up and hugged her, and she sighed, calming down a bit.
You hummed to yourself as you helped Carlos prepare a picnic basket for Jane's birthday party. Chuckling, while Evie threw different fruits at Jay, you folded everyone's towels and neatly arranged them. When you were about to go upstairs, to get your camera, you heard a faint, "later, suckers!" coming from outside.
You all rushed out and, before you could see anything, Jay exclaimed, "Whoa! You might wanna think of a spell for that."
Turns out, Audrey, who apparently was out and about looking for trouble, not only stole the scepter and the crown, but had also turned Mal into an old lady. Your friends were debating over what to do concerning the Audrey issue, when you chimed in, "The only thing more powerful than the scepter is Hades' ember. We need to go get it."
Carlos countered, "Are you sure? I mean, Y/N, can't you fix it with your magic?"
"Sorry guys, but Hades's our only choice, we need to get the ember."
Jay scoffed, "Yeah, right. We can also invite him over for tea."
Carlos gave him a smack on the back of his head, but didn't support your suggestion either.
"He’s right, Y/I,” Evie spoke up, “ besides, no one knows where his lair is”.
You shared a look with Celia, then shrugged, “I do. Actually, we both do.”
“I'm his errand rat. I've got the key at my dad's.”
“Great, you’re both coming,” announced Mal.
To be honest, you missed the dusty air of the Isle; you'd never been a fan of the Olympus, so when the gods decided to kick you, the goddess of devilry in war, daughter of Ares, out of the place, you didn't even bother argue. You greeted Dr. Facilier, waltzed around his shop for a bit, and then exited with your friends.
"Long time nay see," beamed Harry with a wicked grin. The bikes that had brought you were now occupied by pirates of The Lost Revenge's Crew.
Jay was fuming and it showed, he snarled, "get off my bike, Hook.''
"Catch me if you can, Jay!"
And then, they were gone.
You made a move to follow them, as Jay, Carlos, and Evie already had, but Mal placed a hand on your shoulder. "They got this, the three of us gotta gotta go find the ember." So you made your way to Hades'.
With a sigh, you opened the door to one of the most familiar places in the whole Isle.
"Okay, stay quiet," Celia warned. " It echoes, like, crazy in here."
The three of you walked and you could see Mal's eyes bouncing all around the entrance of the 'New Underworld,' as you liked to call it jokingly. When Mal passed besides Severo' s cage, his three mouths snarled menacingly and he began barking; however, it stopped when you passed by and was replaced by happy panting. You looked at him but decided against greeting the three-headed dog, you'd have time for that later. Your best friend sent you a questioning look and you smiled at her, as if telling her "I'll explain later."
The only way of entering the lair was similar to the entrance of the mines in which dwarfs worked back at Charmington. Multiple rail bikes were stationed on the edge, together with some lantern helmets. Each of you took a helmet and got into a bike, which immediately began taking you to where your mentor and friend lived.
You glanced back at Celia and Mal as you explained, "okay, the plan's simple: you'll approach him and get the ember while Celia and I distract him".
"Okay," "alright then," they both agreed.
Given that the former god was fast asleep, you and Celia stayed at the entrance of the cave, while Mal followed your directions and approached him, to take the ember. You mentally cursed as Hades, still unmoving, inquired, "What are you two doing here?"
"We just thought we'd, uh, say hi," Celia tried. When Hades didn't respond, she continued, "also, we noticed that you're low on… on… canned corn."
Not knowing how to support her weak ass excuse, you limited yourself to greet him with a small wave, to which he responded with a smirk and a nod.
"Hi, Dad". Mal remained behind his couch, bending her knees to face him.
"Quite a show you put on the other day," he claimed.
"Right back at you".
After steering awake, he stood up, more like jumped to his feet, "I was just coming to see you!"
Mal didn't believe him, and didn't bother to pretend. "Really? Wonder why.Is it because I'm gonna be Queen?"
"Ah! Now, Mal, don't be bitter".
"You abandoned me when I was a baby," the fae's voice was full of anger and disgust.
The god rolled his eyes and defended himself, "no. no, I left your mother. She's not the easiest person to get along with".
"You think?"
You scoffed, making your way toward the small storage room where all your witchcraft and sorcery materials were sitting, unused ever since you moved to Auradon. While you gathered your possessions, you didn't pay much attention to their interaction, they deserved privacy.
From where you were, you could hear them sing and fight like they hadn't done in the last sixteen years or so.
"Do you wanna make up for being a lousy dad? - Give me the ember," you heard Mal demand.
Hades smirked, "the ember only works for me." And me, you recalled.
"No. It'll work for me. We're blood."
"You're only half Hades. The ember won't do everything for you that it does for me".
"I'll take my chances." Mal began to walk toward where you were, so you took it as a cue to grab your bag and make your exit.
"If it gets wet, it's game over."
When you left, Hades glanced at the cupboard where you kept some things, noticing that, now, the only thing left was a small piece of burnt paper with the words LONG LIVE THE UNDERWORLD messily scribbled on it. His thunderous laugh was faintly heard back on the surface. 'The place does have on hell of an echo'.
Your eyes seemed to be stuck on Mal as you walked back to the barrier; when she noticed you gave her a smile, but felt a kick in your stomach for not telling her which was your connection to him. You could have told her at the lair, but remained silent, thinking it was better to do so when the tension was less.
Everything was quicker than expected, you got in, got the ember after sort of an awkward greeting, and got out. The only problem that you had was the fact that Gil and Harry had now escaped, unleashing a chain of events that had resulted in the oddest of alliances. Long story short, Uma had been roaming the sea all this time, apparently looking for a hole in the barrier; and, while doing that, she had found all the luxury of life outside the dome of the Isle. So, now Mal had promised to guarantee a future for all VKs and you were working with the sea three.
After arriving at Auradon prep, Mal had lead you to the Castle. You looked for Ben with no success, ending up in a room full of knight armours which, speaking of odd, were now charmed to fight. Thanks Audrey. From there, things had gone messy and both gangs were now singing, dancing and fighting for their lives. You did what you could to cover Mal, who was battling two minion armours at once. You swinged your sword and struck the ones around you, with your eyes focused on the scene surrounding you; they were outnumbering you and your group was cornered into the center of the room. However, you couldn't help but notice that the sea witch had dropped the ember, which Audrey had noticed too.
When one of the knights went for the ember, you slashed his head off and went for it too, beating him to it. You concentrated, closing your eyes and clenching your fist around the ember. The familiar burst of blue sparks began to run through you and your eyes opened, glowing silver as you screamed and lifted your arm, making the knights stand completely still before dropping their swords and falling to pieces.
"Y/N?" Mal winded, her wide eyes calling on to an explanation.
You scratched your neck, trying to force your words out, "it's a long story, M."
She pressed on the topic, "Hades said his ember only worked for him, How..."
The others remained quiet, using the time to catch their breaths and recover from the recent encounter; however, Evie's and Carlos' faces mirrored Mal's.
Hesitantly, you revealed the truth. "You guys know I'm sort of a greek goddess myself?," they nodded.
"I am, or I used to be, the goddess of devilry in war, known for being reckless and destructive. This sparked Hades' interest, so he became my mentor and one of my closest friends. When my dad, Ares, found out, he asked Zeus for my permanent expulsion from the Olympus, so I moved in with Hades. Before everything with Hercules and Megara happened, I was already learning everything about the Underworld. Hades' grew to trust me enough to teach me the magic of death so, as it all happened, I learned to use the ember".
The others looked satisfied with your story, but Mal looked at you with an air of betrayal, "so, you've known him all this time," she concluded.
Again, you sighed, "that's right.'’
This time, it was Carlos who spoke, "why didn't you tell us?"
"I don't know, guess, the way I saw it, you guys would've treated me differently knowing that I'm immortal". Okay, that was only half of the truth, but you couldn't risk it in the middle of such an important mission.
Evie smiled at you and, while hugging you, she assured, "Y/N, We love you, no matter what."
Carlos, Jay, and even Mal were quick to join her, showering you with smiles and words of agreement.
"Uh, guys, sorry to interrupt but we gotta keep going," Gil said, making you end the hug and continue your search for the king.
….
On your way to Audrey's room, Mal approached you.
"So… you and my dad being friends, didn't see that one coming," she chuckled.
You shrugged, kicking the dust beneath you, "he was there for me in hard times, the guy has a better heart than what people give him credit for."
She nodded at your words, "How'd you guys meet?"
"We made quick friends in the Troyan war. I was summoned by the greek soldiers and he was there, personally gathering the souls of the fallen. He said my work was great and I complimented his fiery hair, which, as I came to learn, turns out is one of his softy points."
"The Troyan war? So that's why you didn't even open your greek history book," she concluded, lightening the mood.
Audrey was not in her dorm, but Uma found her diary, so you arrived to the conclusion that she was at Fairy Cottage, a place where she had spent a big part of her childhood. Nevertheless, you had all agreed to meet at Evie's after the two hours had passed, so you headed there instead.
When you made it, you saw the three new Vk's fast asleep on the living room, and Evie's boyfriend, Doug, in the same condition but in her study.
Evie fell to the floor beside him, desperately trying to wake him, but to no avail.
Uma rolled her eyes, "he's spelled, is she not a fast learner?"
"She's emotionally involved, okay?" Mal defended her.
"Well, in that case, she should be able to wake him up. True love's kiss".
The atmosphere in the room got thicker with Uma's suggestion, so Evie asked to be left alone with her sleeping boyfriend. After a song and a true love kiss, not to mention with Doug back on his feet, you decided to take a break and have a snack.
You smiled when Mal apologized to Uma, and placed a hand on hers to show your pride and support. However, happiness and peace of mind didn't last long. With loud thuds, wooden boards began to cover the windows and trapped you inside the house. Mal's eyes glowed green as she tried to break Audrey's jinx, but her magic wasn't powerful enough so she and Uma had to join forces. The boards fell down.
Evie hummed, "You did it! Together! This is what I've been talking about".
"I guess my shell likes you," Uma shrugged, wanting to appear nonchalant. "Why don't you hold on to that?"She handed the ember to Mal, but instead of keeping it, she smiled and handed it to you.
"Actually, I think Y/N should have it. She knows it better than I do," she confided.
You thanked your best friend and put the ember away, proceeding to look out the window.
You caught a breath but, before you said anything, Celia announced, "hey, it's your bae!"
That's all it took for all of you to rush outside, stopping on your tracks when you saw the guys on Evie's front yard. With a smile plastered on your face, you hugged Jay and Carlos, and smiled at the pirates and Ben (who was Busy greeting his queen-to-be).
"I'm so glad you guys are okay," you raved. "All of you," once again, your eyes fell on Gil and Harry.
After reuniting, you had to part ways once more; Jane, Gil, and Doug went to find Fairy godmother, and the rest went looking for Audrey to Fairy Cottage.
….
Frankly, it was quite predictable that Audrey would, yet again, outsmart you; so, when she wasnt in her hideout anymore, you weren't as surprised. To say that going there had been a loss of time would be inaccurate, given that you had witnessed a sort of amusing scene when Ben freed Chad.
You were walking together, abandoning Fairy cottage, when Ben demanded that, someday, he had to hear how Mal and Uma ended up working for a common cause. You shared a look with Evie, and she happily declared, "Actually, Mal promised to let all the kids off the Isle - once this is over".
"Mal?" The king inquired.
The fae sighed defeated, which you didn't understand.
"I have to tell you guys something. Um… I lied to you," she confessed. "No one will be coming off the Isle".
You couldn't help but get angry at her, how could she give you so much hope only to crash it? You knew that if you opened your mouth, you wouldn't be able to control your words so, with your eyes locked in the ground, you stood motionless.
She continued, "the program is shut down. And the barrier… will be closed for good. For Auradon's safety."
Uma spoke up, looking at Mal with a deadly glare. "Hold up. So we're saving your precious people and your behinds for a lie. I knew it was a mistake to trust you. You're always out for yourself".
Harry followed his captain's example, facing Ben.
"And you, King Benny..." he bowed, approaching your friend, "you're probably just gonna throw us all back inside".
It was not the badass pirates who raised their voices in that moment, it was the broken children who had discovered that they had been, in fact, fighting for a heartless lie this whole time.
"You know what? I actually thought you were brave. You're nothing but a chicken." Celia's voice broke when she spoke, sounding so betrayed that it wrecked you. "Too scared to tell me I was never gonna see my dad again".
You went after Celia, throwing the ember at mal with your back facing her. Unnoticed by you, the magical gem had landed on a tiny puddle on the forest floor; but that had been enough to extinguish its light.
"No! No," Mal exclaimed, tears beginning to flood her eyes.
"Regain your might and ignite! Regain your might and ignite!" Despite her desperate tries, the ember did not light back on.
The two pirates left to find their friend, showing no empathy at all and not bothering to look back.
At least now, Mal had the guts to face her friends and apologize. She directed her words at Evie and the others, but wished that you were there too, even if she didn't deserve it at that moment.
"Evie… I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, I just… I thought that... I was afraid to tell you. I thought I was gonna lose my best friend.I… I just lost Y/N! But I had to do something. I had to protect Auradon".
Evie brought herself to ask, "closing the barrier was your idea?"
Mal sobbed, defending herself, "I did it for us. I did it for our life that we have here now."
"For our life? What about the kids that we left behind on that island? The kids that we promised? We were their only hope. I thought you were gonna stand up for the V.K.'s. But instead, you lied to them. And you lied to Jay. And you lied to Carlos. And you lied to Y/N. And you lied to me. We're your family."
"I'm gonna go look for Y/N," whispered Jay, only for Carlos to hear.
When the younger boy nodded, the thief began to run in the direction in which you had previously left. After a few yards, he found you, throwing rocks into a small pond. He kneeled to sit next to you, but with a cloud of pink fog, he turned to rock. That's what let you know that Audrey was near, probably going after Mal, so you jumped to your feet and ran back to your friends. There they were, all of them turned to rock; but Mal was nowhere to be found.
Okay, think, think, she has to be somewhere near. Where would M go? She'd go find Audrey; now, where would Audrey go… The castle!
So, that's where you went and when you arrived, you saw your friend begging the pirate sea witch for her help. You were about to make your presence known, but you were snatched off your feet and hit with something on the back of your head.
You woke up on one of the towers next to Celia, who practically threw herself into your embrace.
"It's gonna be fine," you tried to reassure her.
"No, it's not," scoffed Audrey, grabbing Celia by her forearm and forcing her to stand up. "Now, scream for help," she ordered, "I need Mal up here so I can end her once and for all."
Celia complied. "Help me, Mal!" she screamed.
"Don't listen to her, Mal! Go find the others," you tried to warn her but Audrey put the scepter against Celia's neck; "say another word, and she's done with," she threatened.
"Save your little friend, Mal!"
"Help me, Mal!"
You cheered when you saw Mal approaching in her dragon form, but a glare from Audrey was enough to shut you up.
"Careful not to fry your little V.K. buddy!"
Audrey was distracted by Mal so you took the chance and jumped from the tower, landing on your feet. You ran to Uma and Harry, who were still there, watching the whole thing.
You dusted off your jacket and approached them, "are you guys okay?"
"Yeah, but she doesn't stand a chance without the ember," claimed Uma.
''We're stronger together. We're stronger together!" She tried to use her shell, but it was not working. "I'm right here, Mal! Regain your might and ignite. I'm right here, girl," the ember flickered lit but it didn't last long.
"Let me help, you placed your hand over Uma's, grabbing the shell with her. "We're right here. Regain your might and ignite!"
Your eyes gleamed silver and you beamed, "It worked!"
In that moment, Harry took you by surprise when he hugged you and Uma at the same time, not caring about 'sides'. You hugged the pirates back and grinned.
"Thanks Uma," you smiled, "and I'm sorry for everything".
Even if Mal had already apologized to Uma, you felt the need to do the same because, even if you did everything under your friend's lead, you had still been terrible with her.
"S'alright," she returned the smile, "and I'm glad we did this together."
For what seemed to be the thousandth time you closed your eyes and concentrated on the ember, but the result was not different from the previous attempts. You fell back into Ben's arms, panting.
"Sorry, guys, but I'm not powerful enough. The ember's laced to Hades' magic, not mine."
"There must be something that we can do, she's slipping away," Evie insisted.
"As Y/N said, there's only one person in the world who might be able to do something about this, and that's Hades," said Mal.
"Hades? He wouldn't do it. I wouldn't risk it,"Ben tried to reason.
"Actually, he might do it for me. He's my father," Mal revealed.
"I'll send guards to get him,"offered Ben.
"I can go get him," you volunteered, "I know where his lair is."
Ben looked at you questioningly; "he's, uh, an old friend of mine," you wrinkled your nose.
Uma entered the ro
\om, followed by Harry. "Maybe I can hitch a ride. The Isle is my home, someone needs to be there to protect it."
"Well, then, you will need your first mate". You smiled at them, already fond of the pirates.
"The Isle will be in very good hands."
The room fell silent, but Celia broke the ice, "Can I go, too?I wish I could be in both places," she gave Mal a sad smile.
So, it was settled. You were leaving the following day.
….
"I'll be back soon, stay here," you told the guards.
"Good luck, Y/N," Uma placed her hand on your shoulder and you smiled at her.
"Thanks, guys, for everything."
"Nay," shrugged Harry, "no big deal but, seriously, if ya ever visit, come to the ship."
With that, you parted ways. You knew how to get to Hades' by heart, from every part of the Isle; so it took you no time to reach the entrance of his lair.
You let out a breath and went in.
"Look who showed up after the curtain closed, heard you helped Mal beating the witch wannabe," he didn't even have to look your way to know who had traspassed his property; it was enough with the sound of your step.
"I… How did you even hear that?" You tried to avoid the elephant in the room.
Ignoring your question, he continued as he added what you noticed were the final ingredients to one of the potions that he sold at the market. "Congrats, really. Guess I taught you well. Now, let me guess, you came to say a final goodbye now that you're welcomed to join the goodie-two-shoes once again; it was fun having you, Y/N/N."
Now, you straight up scoffed at him, "dude, chill, don't get all cheesy and sad on me. I'm here because I need a favor; actually, Mal needs a favor."
He looked at you and you could see that he was angry, broken, and yet willing to help you out once again, "okay then, little flame, I'm listening.
You looked around the room,  then looked at him, "It's Audrey, she's under the sleeping curse."
He crossed his arms over his chest and raised a brow, "so what, didn't you use the ember to wake her?"
"Couldn't do it," you admitted. "Guess I'm not as connected to it anymore."
He scoffed, glaring at you, "Who would've thought, it's been what, four years? Not that I'm keeping record."
Even if his tone was sharp and his eyes seemed hateful, you could read him like an open book; and, to say that it broke you to see him so hurt because of you was quite too little to express what you felt. "Hades, I… I'm sorry."
At this point, your eyes were boring into his pleadingly, but his pride didn't let him forgive you so easily.
"You're sorry?" he exclaimed. "Jeez, little flame, that's a relief! I'm glad a lowlife villain like myself is at least worthy of your apologies!"
For a moment, your sadness and regret were clouded by anger. You were forcing yourself to be brave enough to make amends and here he was, being a complete dick without even listening to you.
Stepping closer to him, with only a few inches between the two of you, you barked, "look, I'm actually trying here. So if you could shove your ego up your ass for a second and listen, that'd be fucking great!"
He smirked, closing the gap even more, "at least you haven't completely lost it yet."
When the steam of the moment dissolved into the air, you stepped back and sat down, using your hand for inviting him to do the same. "Now, the truth is, I did try to call; I tried to reach you the last time I was here, but I… I don't know. I was afraid of losing Mal to you. I was afraid of losing the world outside to you."
He remained silent so you continued, "When I was chosen to go to Auradon, I thought I had lost everything. Then I just met all of this great people and discovered that I'd… I..." you huffed. "Who am I trying to trick. The truth is I was awfully ungrateful with you, and a terrible friend and I'm really sorry."
He quirked a brow.
"Yes, I'm sorry, and as much as you'd like to hear more, that's all that I have to say."
"What were you saying about not getting all sad and cheesy? Oh, right, 'dude chill!' " He mocked you with a high pitched voice, making you smile.
"When do we leave?"
"As soon as possible."
….
When you got to Auradon, the guards told you that the king had sent specific instructions for Hades' stay. You were forced to head back to your place, and he was kept in a small version of the magic dome for the night. Next morning, when you were already back at Audrey's dorm, he was taken there by at least eight guards.
The former god entered the room, his limbs adorned with silver cuffs, and his face sporting a snarl of disgust to which you had become familiar with a long time ago.
Mal walked up to him, closely followed by you.
"Thank you," she said, "for coming."
"Didn't do it just for you," his eyes caught yours.
Ben and Mal shared a confused look, but the king broke it and asked, "can you wake her?'’
"Since when do heroes care about villains?" asked Hades, turning the cards around.
Ben trailed off, "she's..."
The god completed the young king's sentence, "one of your own. Right, When you guys try to destroy the world… it's an error in judgment. But when it's one of us… lock them up and throw away the key."
He scoffed, "right, Beast?"
After having a stare down with the former king, who had imprisoned the god and stripped him off his magic all those years ago, he raised his hands, but the guards restrained him immediately, going full defense.
"Yeah. I'm gonna need to use my hands," he declared.
He extended his hand, silently asking for the ember.  Mal handed it to him and this time he was not restrained.
When he grabbed the gem that was rightfully his, his hair lit up.
He smirked, "haven't lost my touch."
The former lord of the dead stepped closer to the bed, he began the countercourse and the room was showered on a blue light, beaming with his power.
Audrey woke up, wishing for it all to be a nightmare. "I'm sorry. I wanted to hurt you both. I wanted to hurt all of you," she sighed.
Mal and Ben approached her bed. "I have owed you an apology for… a very long time now," said Mal, Ben agreed, "and so have I."
Then, Audrey's grandma, whose name you still couldn't recall, apologized to Mal. Just then, Beast motioned the guards to seize Hades, and to take him away once again. How classy, apparently a villain didn't even deserve a thank you.
After the guards exited the room, you followed them into the hallway.
"Wait! Guess I'll see you later," you smiled. "Say hi to Pain and Panic for me."
"They'll be thrilled to hear from you," he tried to smirk back, his expression just as sad as yours. "Thanks for a glimpse of the sun, by the way."
Without thinking twice, you walked up to him and pressed your lips to his, framing his left cheek with your right hand. The kiss wasn't as hungry as you would've expected it to be, but it was eager and full of feelings. It was the perfect way to say I'm gonna miss you.
No word was uttered afterwards. Your foreheads remained against each other  for a few seconds, and his blue eyes looked at yours in a way in which they hadn't before, yet he didn't smile. You both stepped back, turned around, he slipped the ember into your hand, and then you left your separate ways. You smiled to yourself and held the familiar gem, feeling its power and warmth curse through you.
Days passed and you couldn't stop thinking about that kiss; you hadn't told anyone and it was eating you alive. So, now that you were at Evie's, wrapped around a blanked by the fire, watching a movie with your two best friends, you were gonna do it. You grabbed the remote and pressed pause, taking a breath and looking at them.
"Guys I need to tell you something. I'm sorry if it upsets you but it's been drowning me for some time now. I, I kissed Hades the day he came here to wake Audrey up."
Evie smiled at you but Mal was frozen in shock, her mouth was agape and her eyes were wide open. She tried to say something but words didn't come out.
You continued, fidgeting with your blanket, "M, I know that things have been quite tense between you but I couldn't lose him; I couldn't let him go back to the Isle without knowing how I felt and, believe me, I've tried to tell you guys before but I was also figuring this whole thing out."
Evie grabbed Mal's hand supportingly, then the fae took a breath and smiled at you. "Thanks for telling me this, Y/I.''
"You guys, you're my best friends. There's no one else I'd trust with this," you smiled at them, glad that they'd had taken it so well.
Mal sighed, "still, I can't reverse my decret to close the barrier Y/N. I'm sorry, you know that no matter what, I'll always be there for you; but I have a kingdom to think of and, even if Hades has helped us out and, even if he's your friend or… whatever he is," she chuckled, both of you joining for a second, "I can't overlook the crimes he's committed."
Your head and your heart were divided. You knew that Mal was speaking as a queen and not as a friend, and were utterly happy that she supported you, even with everything that was going on between her and Hades; but you couldn't stop yourself from being disappointed in the fact that she didn't even consider letting him out of the Isle.
Even so, you gave her a tender smile and hummed, "I know M, and I wouldn't think of asking you to do it for me. I just had to talk this out with you, it didn't feel right to keep it to myself."
"We're happy for you, Y/I," Evie smiled.
"Very," agreed Mal.
…..
Now, a few days later, you were happy again, as happy as you could be with everything that had happened. Standing between Evie and Carlos, you clapped as Ben and Mal appeared on the balcony.
"Lady Mal and I wanna thank you for celebrating our engagement with us today. I couldn't be prouder or happier to call you my Queen." Ben looked at Mal lovingly, and to be honest you felt only a bit jealous of their happiness; but they both deserved it, after going through so much. "So… raise your glasses to our future Queen of Auradon."
"To our Queen of Auradon!”
"To our Queen of Auradon!" you cheered.
"Speech, Your Special-ness," mocked Carlos.
Jay followed, "speech, Your Fancy One."
"Speech, your oh-so-royalness," you winked at her.
She chuckled and smiled apologetically, then she fell serious and the crowd became silent.
She turned toward Ben, "I can't. I can't be Queen of Auradon. I can't turn my back on the Isle."
After you looked at her, nodding in encouragement, she began talking to the people. 'We made a decision… to close the barrier forever; and it was my idea, but it's wrong. I've learned that you can't live in fear because it doesn't actually protect you from anything. You never know where the bad is gonna come from. And you never know where the heroes are gonna come from either."
Carlos grabbed your hand, in assurance.
Mal continued, "Without Uma and her pirates, Auradon would be gone. And without Hades, my father, Audrey would be gone. We are all capable of good and bad, no matter which side of the barrier we come from. And that's why I can't be Queen of just Auradon. I have to be Queen of the Isle, too. And it's time that we take the barrier down forever."
Ben placed a hand on her back, and spoke in her support. "I choose to be a King who moves forward. It's time for forgiveness. It's time for new beginnings. The barrier will come down!"
"Yes!" "Woo!" you and Carlos cheered.
"Bring it down, Mal," and so, the five of you did it together.
After everyone on both sides had processed what had just happened, a sea of villains and vks flooded the bridge and came to Auradon; your eyes surfed the crowd, looking for the face you wanted to see, but he was nowhere in sight. Some of the Auradon kids made their way to the gates, to welcome the newcomers, so you joined your friends at the very front of the bunch.
Everyone was dancing and singing and celebrating, so you let the vibes absorb you. You danced and cheered with the rest, but when the party mood dimmed out a bit, you finally saw the spikes of blue hair that you were looking for moments before. However, you didn't approach Hades, you went straight to Mal.
"He came," you said, anxiety dripping from you.
She smiled at you reassuringly and advised, "Get out there and tell him how you feel; he's a complete idiot not to feel the same."
"M, I can't," you insisted, "what if he doesn't?"
She smirked at you, "as I said, only a complete idiot wouldn't like you back."
You let out a breath, shook your fear out, and looked around to see where he was. Much to your despair, or your relief, he had been standing behind a group of people nearby.
"So, how exactly do you feel?" he smirked. "I think it wasn't clear enough the other day."
"Look, I've liked you for quite sometime now," you confessed. "Maybe a few decades. The kiss the other day, it was just me spilling it all; you don't have to like me back, but I just had to tell you."
" 'Dude, chill! Don't get all cheesy on me'," again, there was his cheap impression of you.
This time, you couldn't help but laugh and roll your eyes at him and, before you could say anything, his hands flew to your waist and his lips were on yours once again. This time, both of you were absorbed by the moment and let the kiss be everything that the first one had not been. He bit your lower lip and granted himself entrance to your mouth, which you accepted happily. You separated to catch your breath and smiled. He looked at you like he had before and avowed, "Nah, I think I don't like you that much, little flame."
Once again, you laughed and punched him playfully, "shut up, really."
"Or what?" he challenged, making you blush.
You recovered quickly, and whispered into his ear, "I guess you'll find out later, maybe at my place."
"Welcome to Auradon, by the way." You kissed his cheek, grabbing his hand and leading him to where Mal and the others were.

Pairing: Hades x reader
Synopsis: During the curse that turned the Beast into, well a beast, his sister was sent to the Underworld to fall in love with Hades. But after he’s cruelly ripped away from her and banished to the Isle, will they be able to pick back up where they left off?
Word count: 1706 (it’s a short one today)
Warnings: Descendants 3 spoilers, obviously. There might be a swear word in there, I’m too lazy to reread the entire thing.
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. He had a twin sister who was not as easily persuaded by her surroundings. She became a bit cynical yes, but she was never cruel. She spent her days with the servants and the evenings partying with her brother and his guests.
But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered the prince a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. The princess tried to convince her brother to let the poor old woman stay, but he refused to listen. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress.
The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.  The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year.  If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in  return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken.  If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.  As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?
The princess received a different fate. She was sent to the Underworld and forced to spend time with Hades. If the Prince couldn’t find love he was cursed to be a beast forever, but if the Princess found love she would gain immortality and stay with Hades forever. If they did not fall in love by the time of her twenty-first birthday, she would be sent back to live out her days with her beast of a brother in an empty castle. Who could ever love the God of the Underworld?
--
As the years pass, Hades starts to grow on the Princess, somewhere in their late night chats and him playing rock songs on the guitar for her, she fell in love. Believe it or night, it was a lot easier for the God to fall in love, which he did within the first few months. The Princess was never cruel to him, unlike the others, and she never judged him. She didn’t approve of some of his actions, which she would make known, but that never changed her view of him or how she acted with him.
The day they finally spoke their feelings was, ironically, the day before the last petal fell above ground. As soon as the words were spoken, the Princess felt lighter, and she had a glow to her. She was immortal, the Goddess of the Underworld, meant to stand by Hades side for all eternity. But that didn’t happen.
When her brother was finally turned back into a man, the Princess and Hades were magically transported to the castle to take part in the celebration. The Princess was happy for her brother, happy that he had matured and finally learned to love. However, the Prince was not at all happy with the God his sister had fallen in love with, and he vowed to find a way to separate them. He knew that his sister deserved better.
But all of this was years ago, so it’s water under the bridge, right? Wrong.
--
Ben had the commons sense and decency to start bringing the villain's kids over to Auradon. But that did nothing to heal your heart from the betrayal you felt from your brother. Nothing could stop the pain you felt in your chest when you looked in the mirror everyday and saw your ageless face.
But today was a day for celebration, Ben and Mal were having their engagement party. While others saw their proposal as rushed and too quick, you didn’t. You knew how strong a love could, and should be, and how fast that love could be ripped away from you. Mal was in the midst of a speech advocating for taking better care of those on the Isle, because being on a certain side doesn’t automatically make you good or bad. Go her.
“Without the help from Hades, my father,” whatever followed Mal’s confession, you never heard. You stumbled backwards and grabbed onto the railing of the balcony, the remaining pieces of your heart crumbling.
You look over at Beast and Belle, who were looking at you with sad expressions. There is no shock on their faces, they knew. They knew and they kept it from you! The love of your life, who they shipped off with little care for your feelings, had moved on. He moved on with, and had a kid with, Maleficent. You just weren’t evil enough for him, apparently.
Everything goes by so quickly when you don’t pay attention, because before you knew what was happening, that barrier was being taken down. I can’t do this, you think to yourself. I can’t see him happy with someone else.
But when he finally walked across the bridge, in all of his leather clad glory, the broken pieces of your heart started to race. He looked better than you remember, a little dirtier, but even more handsome.
You’re at war with yourself, your heart is telling you to go see him while your mind is telling you to run far away. You’re heart ultimately wins over, and your legs take you over to where Ben, Mal, and Hades are standing. You walk behind Ben, and Hades’s glare he was sending Ben instantly soften when he sees you.
“Hades,” you give him a small nod.
“Hades, this is my aunt (Y/N),” Ben introduces.
“Believe me,” Hades smirks. “I know. You haven’t aged a day sweetheart.”
“Well that’s what happens when your immortal,” you shrug like it’s nothing.
“What?” Ben and Mal ask in unison.
“I see you moved on,” you ignore the kids. “Mal is a lovely girl.”
“There’s a big difference between moving on and having things to do,” Hades defends.
“What are you two talking about?” Ben looks between you two.
“There’s a lot you don’t know about son,” you tense as Beast walks up behind you. “You know about my half of the curse, but you don’t know about your Aunt’s.”
“I was sent to the Underworld,” you turn and look at your nephew. “Your father was the monster someone had to fall in love with, and I had to fall in love with a monster. If we fell in love I would become immortal and get to spend the rest of eternity with Hades. We were enjoying our time in the Underworld until he was sent off to the Isle, and I was brought here.”
“We tricked them,” Beast admits..
“Who tricked them?”  Belle frowns.
“I tricked them,” Beast corrects. “I told (Y/N) to bring Hades to a family dinner to catch up. When we were sitting down to eat, I had my guards handcuff him and drag him off to the Isle. He was the first one over there.”
“You didn’t even let me say goodbye,” you glare at your brother. “I would have never done that to you and Belle, you were still as heartless as when you got cursed.”
“Love,” Hades frowns. “You don’t really mean that.”
“I do!” you glare harder at your brother. “It’s all your fault Beast, I wanted a happy life. I wanted children! I wanted my own daughter, one that could have come up from the underworld and been good friends with Ben.”
“You still could have had children,” Beast defends, although he looks taken aback by your anger.
“How could I have done that?” you laugh. “The love of my life was shipped off to the Isle because of you. If I wanted to have a child with someone else, which I didn’t, the child would then be part mortal. There’s a strong chance that I would have outlived them, I would be forced to watch my child die because of their mortality.”
“You really wanted kids?” Hades slips his arm around your waist, pulling you into his side.
“Yes,” you look up at him through your eyelashes.
“With me?” he tightens his hold.
“Of course I wanted them with you, you big idiot.”
“We still could,” he has a dreamy look in his eyes, a look that you wouldn’t expect from him if you hadn’t spent years by his side.
“Maleficent-” he cuts you off.
“And I were never in love. Nobody could replace you (Y/N). They’d be stupid to even try.”
“I love you,” you admit softly, forgetting that there’s an audience.
“I love you too. And I’ll keep loving you until the day after forever,” you laugh, before grabbing his leather jacket and pulling him in for a kiss. The rush of feelings that swept through you, almost knocked you off your feet. Or maybe it was the fact that Hades always made your knees weak, either way his arms tightened around you and kept you close. Your hands ventured into the hair at the base of his neck, the flames tickled you fingers.
“Marry me?” Hades asks as he pulled back for air.
“You always said it was just a stupid piece of paper, that we didn’t need it,” you play along with his joke.
“Well I want it,” he admits truthfully, causing your eyebrows to furrow in confusion. “I’m yours and your mine, and I want it on that stupid piece of paper.”
“Yes,” you whisper through the tears you didn’t know were sitting just below the surface. Hades picks you up and twirls you around, everything was back to normal. Better even.

Jane’s canon verses, inspired by @zzozo
01 -  PRE CANON . I have to tell you a secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer. Have courage and be kind.
Prior to Prince Ben’s first proclamation, Jane is a shy and eager to please girl that’s known for being a teacher's pet - mostly due to her mother’s status as Headmistress, but also from her constant attempts to please. Meek and insecure in a way that stems from her mother’s version coddling, Jane is a shadow desperate to gain the approval of her peers and destined to fail at it from the very start.
“You did all your homework, Jane, no one is going to come to take you to the isle!” Her mother would tell her. “You made your bed, you don’t need to worry about being sent to the Isle.” With an aunt imprisoned on the Isle and her mother’s ‘kind’ reassurances of what a good girl she is, the need to be perfect is something Jane’s always felt, but that’s a goal no one could achieve.
Not a royal like the rest, Jane is often looked down on by the rest of her age group not only for her lack of royal blood, but her lack of human blood. Being part fae means that she is ‘other’ to them, she’s a sidekick instead of a hero, subhuman instead of human. Even the others born to magic are against Jane, her mother’s role in restricting the use of magic leading to others of her kind viewing her as a traitor, something that it’s far easier to hold against Jane than to fight over with one of the most powerful magical beings of Auradon.
The difference is something learned at a young age, from the moment she asks to be the princess in a game of pretend at daycare, eager to live out her happy ending. The other children jeer at her, bullying her for thinking she could have a happy ending. She’s not a princess, she’s fae, and everyone knows fae are incapable of love, so why would anyone choose her? Excluded from the game and in tears when her mother collects her, Jane changes daycares, but never forgets what she learned.
Folding herself smaller and smaller like a piece of origami paper in an attempt to become something beautiful is an artform Jane masters, but it doesn’t stop her from being shunned at lunch tables when she starts school. Jane’s isolation fills her with the need to find a place where she fits in, her own community, and each rejection she faces reaffirms her belief that she’s unpopular because of some personal failing on her own part.
She offers to help with every event and brings little gifts to everyone she tries to thank, any opportunity to make friends or be useful is something that Jane jumps on in an attempt to endear and ingratiate herself with people, but the more she swallows her own needs, the more disconnected she feels, drowning without a clue how to truly reach anyone.
02 - DURING CANON . I know it isn’t easy, but at least we should try to get along together.
Terrified at first of the villain kids that arrive in Auradon despite debating for their right to live there, it seems unlikely that Jane would find her place among those labelled as misfits and troublemakers, but it doesn’t take long before Jane is swept up in their folds and left feeling more like she belongs in their presence than in anyone else’s.
With the VKs in the school and the sense that she might have found a crowd to belong to, Jane begins to morph from someone insecure and anxious into someone shallow and snobbish. The friends that she so eagerly latched onto are abandoned for a chance to sit with the princesses she always adored without second thought. Morality and righteous equated with prestige and place of birth, Jane’s position at the cool kid’s table didn’t last long as the chair was snatched from beneath her the moment she no longer met their standards.
Grabbing the wand and bringing down the barrier might have given Mal and her friends the chance to prove they wanted to be good and turn against their own parents, but Jane learned more about who she was inside than she did the villain kids.
She was disloyal, willing to abandon the people that first befriended her and stood up for her all for someone with popularity. She was untrustworthy, willing to steal the wand and use magic to improve her own looks and as a result, she’d nearly brought every evil back to Auradon by collapsing the barrier. She’d wanted to be the cool girl with the fancy hair, the hot girl with the ripped skirt that everyone wanted, but where did that get her? What did it prove except that maybe she did belong on the Isle just like that quiz said?
Quick to learn her lesson, Jane resolves to be more open and less judgemental, to stand by the side of her friends instead of abandoning them for popularity. If Jane avoids anyone after the mess of the coronation, it was Audrey, who Jane views as a symbol of her own weakness and how easily she can be corrupted.
———
Jane’s revelations aren’t shared by everyone, her faith in Mal and her gang soon shown to be an unpopular choice when Jane realizes her own mother plans to have them expelled without hearing their case. Royalty isn’t always right and neither is the law, the time Jane spends around the VKs makes it clear that blind justice never cares for those caught up in its wake and that sometimes the rules need to be broken. Making up her own mind to go behind her mother’s back for help isn’t something Jane regrets, but the realization that her mother isn’t always right shocks Jane down to her core.
Rattled and beginning to question what she’d grown up hearing her entire life, it encouraged Jane to reach out to her new friends for support and greater understanding for the world outside of the careful playpen that her mother made for Jane’s life.
In them Jane found the courage and inspiration to begin reaching out for things she wanted, transforming from a mascot to a cheerleader and finally feeling seen by someone. As confidence building as that is, getting her first boyfriend perhaps gives Jane a greater boost of esteem and for the first time, Jane’s entirely life felt perfectly on schedule, attacks by sea witches aside.
———
Her life planned from the beginning, Jane is expected to be the Fairy Godmother one day and headmistress of the school, it’s not a secret she’s meant to replace her mother and be everything she is, but without magic. Content to follow in her mother’s footsteps, it’s easy to agree to her mothers plans on her career when Jane’s focus is elsewhere.
Still the same little girl wanting to play princess at heart, Jane is a romantic that dreams of her future with a loved one, confident that at last her happy ending is playing like it’s meant to. She knows the stories, that you grow up and go through a noteworthy event, you meet your true love and eventually you’re married.
The Coronation was her noteworthy event and Jane never questioned that Carlos was the one when he asked her to Cotillion, officially becoming her first boyfriend. Their relationship lets Jane feel like everything is falling into place and granting her everything she ever wished for. By being with Carlos, she has inclusion into his friends group and having a boyfriend means she isn’t alone. Having proof that she’s desirable to one person boosts her self esteem and gives her faith that everything will work out in the end because it has to, it’s her happy ending.
That certainty remained with Jane all through Auradon Prep, her time spent making sure Carlos never doubted her adoration and striving to have her fairytale play out perfectly until the story twisted. Graduation brings with it new opportunities for everyone, but it also brings about a fork in the road where both Jane and Carlos have to admit it’s better if they split ways.
People in fairytales don’t break up and Jane knows it’s for the best, but she’s left with a sense of loss and the certainty that she’s missed her chance at a happy ending because things didn’t work out. Firmly reminded of her status as a sidekick instead of a princess, Jane tries to let go of her romantic aspirations to focus on her career, dedicating herself to growing into the person her mother always planned for her to be.
03 - POST CANON . When there is kindness, there is goodness. When there is goodness, there is magic.
At fourteen, Jane dreamed of living anywhere but in the same kingdom as her mother, of going off to college and spending her summer on a beach while mermaids swam in the bay, or waking up in the spring to throw open a window gazing at Sherwood forest to see flowers blooming. She had the grades, there wasn’t any reason why Jane couldn’t go anywhere she planned and graduating Auradon Prep felt like a finish line to cross to begin living life on her own terms, but it didn’t work out that way.
Single and with her mother praising her newfound dedication to establishing her career, Jane surrenders her dreams of going away somewhere to school and instead enrolls in online classes at MIT. Slowly Jane’s vision of herself fades away, her mother’s hands molding Jane’s future into a duplicate of herself.
Working hard to earn a place at Auradon Prep like her mother, Jane soon finds herself with a job that no one thinks she deserves, whispers of nepotism following wherever she goes. Despite the time it takes up, Jane refuses to surrender her role with helping to organize social events for the castle, the one job that Jane enjoys more than anything else she’d found. Perhaps she could never be a princess, but at least she could make other girls feel like they were.
It’s easy for life to feel empty when you’re always helping someone else live out your dreams. Classes were taken without making new friends, balls were arranged without expectations of being able to dance, and new couples were celebrated while Jane doubted she would ever be anyone’s girlfriend ever again.
You dated once and married in fairytales, Jane dated once and went through a break-up, she helped other people achieve their happy endings without having her own. Yet no matter how often she tells herself that, it doesn’t make it any easier, the stress and anxiety building as Jane struggles to live up to her mother’s ideals.
Each day feels the same, waking up, throwing herself into every little project she can find, trying to make her mother proud, and working until she’s ready to pass out. The longer Jane exists in that pattern, the more established it becomes until it seems she’ll never break free of it.
Until she moves out.
Nineteen and with her own place, Jane answers to her own rules for the first time, no longer hearing her mother’s comments about her bed or when she wakes up or what she’s wearing. No fear of the woman wanting to go through her phone or searching her room, it’s a breath of freedom that sparks the first change in Jane.
Years after the first arrival of the Isle born, scandals and political fights help tentative friendships forge connections of unbreakable steel, people call Jane ‘bestie’ and encourage her to be her own person instead of a copy of her mother. It’s the acceptance that was always so rare in Auradon, that feeling of belonging, and it’s enough for Jane to give up her job at Auradon prep and begin to figure out who she is when she takes charge of her own future.
04 - PRESENT . And Ella continued to see the world not as it is, but as it could be.
The shift in her life isn't one that can be attributed to any single moment in time, but Jane has slowly been changing throughout the years and as she finds people that welcome her close, she gravitates to them more than her mother. With her efforts no longer devoted to living out fairy godmother's life plan, jane's priority turns to the isle and doing what she can to take care of her friends.
Using up her vacation time and sick days to travel away from work for a tournament isn't a move her mother approves of, but there's nothing she can do to stop Jane. Time is available and Jane is young, a flight of fancy can be forgiven in a teenager even if it is disappointing, something fairy godmother made sure that Jane knew.
One trip could be forgiven, but a second mere weeks later could not. No matter the reason for the trip, jane and her mother saw it from radically different perspectives, what jane saw as an important political meeting to defend the rights of the isle and possibly forge diplomatic connections was a waste of time to Fairy Godmother, who accusing Jane of shirking her duties and proving she wasn't responsible or serious when it came to obligations to Auradon Prep.
Anger getting the better of her, Jane finally breaks the dream her mother has long held and tells the truth - she won't be future headmistress of AP and that she's quitting at the end of the year.
Jane not only attends the town hall, but streaks her hair red, the vibrant color a testament to her support of the isle as well as a declaration of her feelings towards a certain pirate. It's a move that draws scrutiny and disapproval from the media as well as her mother, but for once that isn't enough to stop Jane from doing what she wants to with her life, finally searching out the path that will lead her to happiness.
It's on this path to self discovery that Jane begins to shed her fears of her magic, experimenting in the hopes that her fae blood might be something that could lead to doing something for the place, the people she'd come to care so much about.
During a celebration on the Isle for Ulf Night, everything goes wrong.
She creates a bioluminescent tree to help shine light on the isle, its glow fueled by the feelings sparked in her by the night, but her happiness comes at a cost. Fairy Godmother has enemies on the isle and they don't enjoy the sight of her daughter roaming freely on the Isle, a tourist in what's been their prison, and the sight of her so freely using magic when such a thing in Auradon would earn some a prison sentence is too much for the patience.
Jane is soft and unguarded, she's easy prey for a group of attackers no matter how many months she's spent learning self defense from the Lost Revenge crew, and a blow to the head finally brings her down.
When she wakes again, she's locked up in a cell, held prisoner on the Isle without any expectation of rescue. She schemes of how to break free, of biting at her captors and stealing a sword, determined to break free when she couldn't depend on anyone else to help her.
The invasion of the pirates proves Jane wrong about that and they continued to prove her wrong as she is kept aboard the Lost Revenge to heal. Recovering takes weeks into months, but Jane grows stronger and fills her hours with crafts, creating things with her hands as a way of expressing gratitude she doesn't have the words for. There in the medbay of the ship, Jane feels safe and happy, a sense of belonging that's been foreign her entire life, and when she's well enough to leave, Jane doesn't go far.
After being fired by email and receiving word from her mother that amounts to being told not to talk with her unless Jane resumes living life in accordance to Fairy Godmother's ideals, there's little to keep Jane in Auradon and she happily gives up the apartment she can no longer afford in favor of moving in to the apartment behind the Chip Shoppe on the Isle, her life again reshaping itself as she adjusts to living on the Isle and creating her own path.

Chapter 3
Black marble floors, red candles on the chandelier made of glittering diamonds, dripping sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and countless jewels that no one had named yet.
Hades knew them all, of course. He’d made the room, he’d helped with the candles, and hand picked every jewel to be a part of the chandelier. He would have never done it otherwise, but this had to be special. It was for his darling, of course, nothing else would be good enough (this barely was good enough as it was).
Obsidian thrones, one with at least five pillows and the other with none. Of course the one with pillows only had them added recently, for a portrait they had done of the family.
“Hades?” Her hair was shiny in the light, her skin gorgeous in the way the fabric she wore smoothing any creases in her skin left from the wrinkles in the bed sheets.
“Yes, darling?”
“How are preparations going? Have the florists come yet, I had some last minute ideas to incorporate more flowers into the chandelier, and maybe weave some around the thrones. Flower petals on the floor, and garlands on the balcony edges of course….”
“Darling,” he interrupted. “I’m sure that with or without your florist nymphs or forest Fae, if that’s what you chose they would find a way to make it work. No matter what.”
Cooing and giggles came from the doorway. Pain and Panic could be heard fretting over where the child had gone this time, but Hades only smiled.
He put his fingers over his lips with a smile, signaling to his wife that they should be quiet, and then silently walked over to where he couldn’t be seen from the doorway. He never did spill the secret of how he walked silently in his leather shoes, or how the pants of his suit never rustled to give him away.
“Rahhh!” He growled playfully as he grabbed his daughter from where she peered out. She squealed, long blonde hair flying as she was spun in the air in her father’s arms.
Hades looked at his wife, his darling, checking on her. She still looked stressed, but she was smiling and laughing at them. He smiled, secretly victorious in his nefarious plot to make her smile. He didn’t want anything else from her but the sunshine that spilled from her lips.
He pulled his daughter close, and while he messed with her long hair to ensure it wasn’t caught on any buttons of his shirt, she pulled at his previously slicked back hair. It wasn’t hard, considering it was getting long. He needed to trim it, or get a new hairstyle.
He gently lit a blue flame on his finger, offering it to the child.
She stared at it, fascinated, and reached out to grab it.
“Nuh uh uh,” he pulled it away quickly. “Bad idea, kiddo, even your mother didn’t like it for a while. Takes more than a year to get used to the heat, sweetie,” he winked at his wife.
She rolled her eyes. “Alright you two, time to get the princess into her dress for the party. It’s not every day we’re asked to host a New Year’s Party and we actually say yes,” she added reproachingly, staring meaningfully at her husband.
He sighed. “I’ll go make sure everything is prepped- well, whatever can be at this point.”
------
It took a while, but eventually Mal’s joints loosened enough to let her maneuver her motorbike with Celia’s arms around her waist.
Pulling her goggles from over her eyes as they glowed, she chanted, “Noble steeds, proud and fair, you shall take us anywhere.”
The bikes took off, and none of them looked back, even Carlos when Dude yelled, “Carlos! You’re gonna miss Jane’s birthday!”
-------
Dancing. He didn’t want to look away from her, the way silk fell on her shoulders, shifting and glimmering in the light of the candles, of the torches, of the very glow of godliness that just about everyone at this party emitted, but it all seemed to be shadows compared to her.
The way the fabric rustled, parts of her outfit with woven gold and blue and green, practically taken from sun and water and life itself; and then the other parts, the pinks and blacks and purples, the magic she carried, her title, and their daughter’s early sparks.
The little blonde was being carried by her father, in a dark purple wrap that was strapped to his chest, safely snug in a way that was comfortable but didn’t let her touch his hair that she loved so, as it was currently lit up with a blue flame that nearly outdid the sun god that was only a few feet away from the dancing couple in the center of the floor.
He opened his mouth to say something, but then…..
------
Kore came to with a start. Dancing, black marble, and pretty clothes with a pretty husband and a pretty child faded as quickly as she tried to remember what her dream had been about, not even able to notice that she wasn’t in her cot.
“So, you finally woke up. What’s the secret, Kore?” She whipped around. Audrey had been watching her the whole time, scared of what she could do.
“What are you talking about, Audrey?”
“Why didn’t the scepter work on you?” Audrey seemed genuinely confused. “It works on everyone, even Maleficent had effects from it at some points when she fought my parents.”
Kore chuckled. “I don’t think,” she said slowly. “I don’t think it works on me, because it knows something about me. No one claimed to know me before the barrier went up, but clearly it’s not true. Magic itself has a sort of memory, you know. Chances are if you pricked your finger on the spinning wheel, you’d have a sort of immunity, because your mother was so affected by it.”
“Why don’t you remember anything before 16 years ago anyway? I thought we had the best healers in Auradon, there- there wouldn’t be anyone on the Isle of course,” Audrey laughed at the thought. “That would be ridiculous.”
Kore shrugged. “Maybe something with-.” She cut herself off, head burning suddenly. “I can’t- I can’t think-” She gasped for air, her brain feeling like it was being stabbed from the inside to the outside.
“Kore? Kore-!”
Audrey crouched over her former friend. Kore had always been kind, she had only been sympathetic and understanding when Mal stole her Ben, she couldn’t leave her here.
Hefting Kore into her arms, she gazed down at her former magic mentor. “I’ll fix you,” she promised. “I swear I’ll fix you. You’ll remember everything, it’ll be okay someday soon. I’ll be queen,” she wheezed, dragging Kore up the stairs, gritting her teeth. “I’ll make them fix it. Whether they want to or not.”
--------
Audrey strode to the end of the path, encountering a waiter as she entered the clearing. “Anybody save me some guacamole?”
Everybody and the waiter stared at her.
“No? Well it looks like you forgot to invite me as well, even though you all know how that went last time. Oh don’t be expecting Mal to save you either, she’s uh,” she snickered. “She’s not feeling herself right now.”
She moved further towards the cupcake table. “Does that make you sad? Does that just ruin everything?”
No one reacted. “Mindless little drones,” she muttered. “It’s a shame really, the groundskeeper has more personality than all of you combined. Especially that good for nothing grape haired bitch.”
An apprehensive look appeared on Chad’s face, she ignored it.
“How could you forget what she did to us?! How did you all forget that I was supposed to be the queen?!”
Chad jumped a tree trunk. “Time out!” He panted, then straightened up. “First off, great new look. I absolutely love the lace, but before you do whatever you’re gonna do, I was wondering if you maybe wanted a loyal boyfriend at your side?”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Partner in crime? Sidekick?”
Audrey’s expression went to pure boredom.
“Well- maybe just a lackey to do your bidding? Change tires, smoothie runs, huh?” His expression turned to begging. “Please?”
Audrey thought of Kore, and that Chad always paid more attention in first aid than she did. “You could be useful. Fine, stand behind me.” He scurried behind her, as a smirk appeared on her face. “If Auradon likes to forget so much, they’ll love this. Just a little reminder, of course.”
“Happy Birthday to you,” pink smoke appeared as she stomped the staff into the dirt. “Happy Birthday to you,” people fell asleep standing up. “Happy Birthday, dear Jane,” the fog made its way down the hill to the pavilion by the Enchanted Lake, where Jane was watching, unsettled. “Happy birthday, to you!”
--------
Running. Running and running and running- why?
‘Mother said to run if it ever appeared again, to run as fast as I can, but why? What is so bad about any of this?’
Abruptly, she stopped. The dark patch on the ground was down the hill now, and she had the forest to hide in if she needed.
“You do know I don’t want to hurt you,” the voice called. “I just want to talk to you more.”
She knew him. “Who are you?”
“You know who I am, darling.”
She smiled. “I do, but I have to say it anyway.”
He sighed. “I have another plant for you.”
She immediately scampered down the hill to see, skidding to a stop just before she crashed into him, and hugged him. “What is it?”
He told her he didn’t know, and as she rattled off facts and statements about it to deduce what it was (Underworld plants were very different from normal plants) he looked down at her.
Her hair had flowers in it, probably from laying in the meadow all day, staring up at the clouds dreamily. How he wished he could see her face when she did it, but every time he appeared she had to run away immediately, to keep up pretenses with her mother.
Demeter was traumatized by Zeus and Poseidon, she understandably wasn’t going to give Hades a chance to go after her precious daughter, her pride and joy.
‘Pity she can’t understand love anymore.’
“You’re beautiful, you know that?”
She looked up abruptly, startled by his interruption.
“You always know what’s wrong with something so precious, you care about them all,” he went on. “I wish more people would bother to see it.”
‘I don’t really, because more people might try to steal you away,’ he thought, but it wasn’t proper to say that of course.
The pastel dress she wore, deemed by her mother to be one of the only things that was appropriate for her to wear, fanned out in the gentle breeze-
Hades awoke from his nap with a start, tears streaming down his face.
“I miss you,” he muttered. “I miss feeling you next to me.”
There was so much he wished he could say, but the memories in his mind were all he had left. They’d certainly married her off, or locked her up somewhere without access to the ground or to light. Or something equally as soul draining for her, knowing that outright killing her would be enough for his anger to bring down the barrier.
Death magic wasn’t meant to be contained.
It wasn’t like he wanted to take it out on the other Isle prisoners of course, but he couldn’t help it. He was draining the life out of the people, the island, the magic of the barrier itself. He kept himself away from everyone he could- didn’t want to become more of a villain than they already thought he was, but there wasn’t much he could do, or really anywhere isolated enough that it would only affect him.
Being able to use it a little when his daughter picked up a few more kids with her friends had only done so much, there was years of backed up magic, years of backed up judgements and organization and paperwork- none of which anyone outside the barrier ever thought of.
Outside his lair, the clouds inside the barrier grew darker, trying to restrain the magic that so desperately needed an out.

Held Back - Harry Hook x Ben’s sibling! Reader - Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note; before we start, “reader” is non-binary but since I've always imagined Auradon is pretty… old-fashioned and close-minded, they really don’t realize they are NB but know they don’t like being referred to as a “girl” or a “female”. Also, I know “realistically” Adam and Belle wouldn’t neglect their 2nd kid for the first n shit but it’s called a plot point and they are like that for a reason.
Tried to not use “readers” pronouns at all until we get to the good shit where they are like “oh, that’s what that is?”
Also, this will be a 2-part story, the 1st takes place in D2, while the 2nd will take place after D2 and into D3 :3
OH, slight smut in this fic….yeah…it doesn’t get detailed-detailed, but it gets…heated…yeah…if you don’t like even reading this that hint at sex then I’ll put warnings at the beginning and end of those scenes :3 otherwise this is a pretty “safe” fic
Enjoy~
=
Being the daughter, and the 2nd child, to Beast and Belle, wasn’t…what everyone assumed it was. Everyone expected that since you were their 2nd kid, one that wasn't in line for the throne, that you could do anything, get away with anything. That you could just shrug and say ‘oops’ and all would be forgiven. But it wasn’t. It was constant rules and upkeep, never able to run free and scrape your knee when you fell off the tree you had climbed, never able to just scream as you ran along the shoreline, soaking the seawater into your clothes.
Always sit up straight, never cross your legs, never run, never frown, never sneer, don’t talk back, don’t yell, just sit there and -
Be perfect
For the early years of your life, you had loved Ben. Ben your 5-minute older twin brother, Ben who always cared about you, Ben who hid the vase you had broken when you were chasing him through the castle halls when told not to.
Ben; who had refused to let you be pushed aside.
But resentment grew when your parents would always favor him, always praise him; for the bare minimum.
If he got a B in his project? Amazing! Take him out for ice cream.
You? Getting a B+? scolding’s and being told to do better next time, with your dessert taken away for the week.
While you held this resentment for him, you couldn’t hate him, not really, not when he would sneak you his leftover ice cream that was your favorite flavor, one that he hated but your parents didn’t know, not when he would run into your room on stormy nights to make sure you were okay.
Not when he obviously loved you so much.
But you wanted more, you needed more…just something to fill the gap that your parents were leaving. A gap that for some reason they couldn’t see was growing bigger every time they turned their backs on you and turned to Ben.
You were a loner too…most of your “friends” were actually Bens friends, Audrey being one of the few that usually hung out with you outside of Ben and Chad, she was petty as hell sometimes and pretty passive-aggressive to those she didn’t like but she had never seen you as “Bens sister” or “the second child of King beast and Queen Belle”
She just saw you as (y/n), her friend.
When the VKs came, it was almost a relief, finally, the attention was off of you. With Bens coronation and even your parents paying more attention to the new kids instead of picking apart what was wrong with your English essay.
You had tried talking to them, but all four of them were pretty off Standish, and in their own group almost all the time, but after they had chosen good, you and Evie had started talking and had grown a small friendship, one that was nothing compared to what she had with Ben and Mal but you didn't feel as lonely anymore.
Mal had…. acknowledged your existence…yeah, the two of you didn’t really interact much. And you were fine with that.
Especially after Ben told you she tried to memory spell him (you had almost stormed into her dorm guns blazing). Then soon after that, Ben and the other vks were going back to the isle, and you were utterly bored and needed to do something other than sit in your room and disappoint your parents by doing nothing so why don’t go to the isle and disappoint your parents for a good reason!
So now, you stood at the stairway below the core four’s hideout, happy you had taken your denim jacket with you as the isle chill set in.
“so?” Evie asked Ben as he solemnly climbed back down the stairs, his eyes at the ground “where’s Mal?” Ben shook his head, pushing past Evie and Jay and walking down the ally.
“she's not coming back” he muttered before disappearing. You kept your eyes on him in worry, ignoring the other three’s worry over Mal who was safe and sound in her little hideout while your brother, who knew how to hold a sword but sucked at hand to hand, disappeared into the alleys of the isle.
You moved to go after him but stopped as a much taller, leaner shadow took Bens place in a blink and walked toward you. “hey!” you yelled, the vks stopping in their Mal rant and turning to you “Ben’s gone”
Evie's face melted from worry for Mal to worry for Ben as she stepped next to you and called for Ben as the tall shadow got closer “Ben…Ben!”
It seemed they thought the new shadow was Ben as Evie sighed in relief and looked away, setting her hand on your shoulder “Ben don’t scare us like that!”
“Don’ scare yeh~?” the tall shadow stepped into the light, the teens bright blue eyes sending shocks down your spine as you looked into them “That’s my specialty ~” he purred, his eyes flashing between you and Jay. Evie breathed out his name in annoyance.
Harry…what a nice name...
“what did you do with Ben!” Jay stepped in front of you, not liking the way Harry was eyeing you up. Harry seemed to no understand what Jay was asking before he gasped, turning slightly to point down the ally.
“oh~! We nicked ‘im~!” he nodded as if he was explaining something to a toddler “and if yeh want ta’ see ‘im again~ have Mal come to the chip shop tonight~” his eyes darkened as he gestured to the group with his hook “Alone…Uma wants” his tone lightened again, his eyes looking back at you with curiosity “a little visit~”
He looked at jay again and pursed his lips, looking up and down “aw Jay~” he tilted his head and gave a teasing grin “seems like ye’ lost yer touch~” Jay growled and tried to tackle Harry, but was stopped by Evie. Harry held his hands up and giggled, turning to you and bowing slightly “your highness~” he purred, winking at you and blowing a kiss as he walked away.
The vks mostly ignored his last few actions and Jay hopped up the side of the stairs to get to Mal, while you watched Harry disappear into the ally, your heart going miles a minute.
“wow” you muttered, shaking your head to get rid of the fluffy feeling in your head “get a grip (y/n), he just kidnapped your brother!”
You quickly followed Evie and Carlos as the gate door of the stairway lifted and ascended to the hideout.
-
Leaving you on your own in the hideout was probably the worst choice the vks had made that entire night, as you had nothing to entertain yourself with so you just left and traveled around.
You had somehow walked from the hideout to the docks, and if you remembered correctly, this was the pirate's territory. So, you spun back around to get your ass back to the hideout but stopped as two sets of lust-filled eyes stared back.
But unlike Ben, you smirked as you crouched into a fighting stance, you had taken almost every self-defense class you could. For more than one reason but mainly because even in Auradon there were still nasty people.
The bigger one of the two men rushed at you, but ultimately flopped to the floor as you pivoted on your right foot and swung your left leg around, hitting him directly in the temple and knocking him out.
You grinned at the other man and waved your fingers at him “come get me~” you jeered, laughing to yourself as he yelled and rushed at you.
But before he could take a step closer, a silver hook whacked over his head and knocked the second man out. You pouted and glared at the new person, not caring if it was the teen that had kidnapped your brother an hour ago “hey!”
“hey~!” he mocked back, a teasing smile on his face. He stepped over the two men and curled his hook under your chin, his eyes drifting over your face “now what's a little princess-” you twitched at the nickname “-like yeh traveling alone on the isle~ it's dangerous yeh know?”
You forced down the heat that wanted to cover your face and shrugged, mentally smirking as Harry rose his brow “well…they left me alone in the hideout and I got bored…can't blame me for wanting some excitement eh?”
He squinted at you for a minute, as if he was trying to figure you out…then he finally spoke “yer different than’ I thought yeh would be” he muttered softly, the cool metal of his hook drifting away from your chin and back at his side.
You crossed your arms and cocked your hip, giving the pirate a smirk “what did you think I was going to be like?”
“prissy, stuck up, wouldn’t touch the isle even with a hundred’ foot pole” he shrugged, licking his lips as you rolled your eyes and brew a lock of hair out of your face.
“well as you’ve just experienced, that’s not true” Harry laughed through his nose, looking up towards the barrier and running his free hand through his hair.
“aye…” his shockingly blue eyes drifted back down to meet yours. “so why even come ta the isle? Fer beasty boy? Malsy?”
You looked down at your shoes…you really had no reason to come along did you? Ben and the others could have easily handled getting back Mal without you…so why?
“because if my parents are going to disappointed in me it might as well be for a real reason” you muttered, letting your arms drop to your side.
You felt Harry's eyes on you as you stared hard at the ground, willing yourself not to cry. “that sucks” you looked at Harry through your lashes, seeing him staring at you with sad eyes “I thought…I thought all Bora-don parents loved their kids” he laughed uncomfortably, rubbing the back of his head.
“well…they are still human…and just because they are hailed as good people, don’t mean they are good parents” you sighed, crossing your arms again and looking away from Harry's eyes.
“wait…Bora-don?” you laughed, turning back to Harry with a grin. He seemed to be relieved of the subject change and a sharp grin grew on his face.
“aye, it's boring, so, Bora-don~” he giggled, rocking on his heels a bit. A few moments passed then he held his hand out to you.
You stared at it, then him for a few moments. “come on, let's give yer dumbass parents a real reason ta be disappointed in yeh” you smiled and took his hand, laughing quietly to yourself as Harry tugged you away from the docks and toward wherever he was taking you.
-
Your legs were in Harry's lap as the two of you cackled into the dead of night, hands stained with paint and rotten food. Harry had taken you for a night of chaos, destroying vendors with paint, pranking the twin sons of Gaston’s with balloons filled with rotting eggs, and just wreaking havoc in the streets of the isle.
Harry's arm went behind your back as you fell to the side slightly, his bicep pushing against your arm. “thank you Harry” you hummed as you finally calmed down, giving him a closed-lipped smile. “this…this really meant a lot to me” he stared at your lips for a moment before a soft, unsure, smile grew on his lips.
“it was no biggie princess,” your lip twitched at the title “I was kinda already planning ta do all those things anyway…thought it was pretty fun ta do it with someone instead of by myself” you laughed a bit, leaning back on your hands and closing your eyes.
“I get that”  it was silent for a few moments, just you and Harry on top of the abandoned building.
“yeh reacted when I called yeh princess” you twitched again “yeh did it again…is something up with the word?”
You sighed, then opened your eyes, staring into Harry for a moment then looking away “I…I don’t like being referred to like that…it’s not the title its…what it refers to… it's hard to explain”
Harry tilted his head, his hand going on your knee to gently push you to continue “is it the royalty thing?”
“no” you dismissed quickly “its…the princess thing…its…well…ugh” you took your legs off Harry's lap and switched to sitting on your knees, looking at Harry with serious eyes “I've never told anybody this and you have to swear you won't tell anybody else after I tell you” Harry blinked wildly for a moment then looked at you confused.
“lass” you twitched again, making Harry pause for a moment “darling, unless it’s something that will help bring down the barrier or take over the world, I won't tell a soul” you snickered for a moment before you took a deep breath, preparing to tell a person you had just meet that day, one that had kidnapped your brother no less, your greatest secret.
It didn’t help that you felt more comfortable with him in five minutes than you had with your parents for the last 16 years. “I…don’t like it when I'm referred to with girl-like titles or…pronouns” you winced, hands going to block anything that might come your way.
“oh, yeh don’t like she-her pronouns where they are used in a way to refer ta yeh?” Harry clarified, you looked at him slightly odd, expecting some sort of relation or comment, but…it was as if you had just told him you didn’t like a vegetable instead of you not being comfortable with your gender pronouns?
“uh…yeah basically?” you rubbed the back of your head, the other hand picking at the loose threads on your pants.
“yeah, it's not that uncommon ‘ere, I think Desiree is non-binary and one of the other crew members is gender-fluid…not that it's not a big deal but…why have yeh never told anybody else about that? Not even yer brother?” your wide-eyes looked away, hands clenching into your shirt “Darling?”
“um…Auradon isn’t really…accepting of most things…I didn’t even know that…non-binary and gender-fluid were a thing…what do they mean?” you looked back at Harry who seemed to be very surprised “what?”
“nothin’ I'm just surprised tha’ the place of happily ever after’s is kinda…shit?” he laughed, rubbing the back of his head “okay lemme remember what Desiree told me um…Okay non-binary is when you don’t…identify as the gender yeh were at birth so say…okay take Desiree as an example, they’ve been told they’ve been a girl since they were born but they’ve always felt like that didn’t fit, but being a boy didn’t feel right either. so that’s what non-binary is. It's that yeh are neither male nor female yeh are…well you, and most of the time, as far as I know, they use they-them pronouns instead of she or he. but I think some of them use she and they, or he and they…just depends on who uses the pronouns n stuff.”
That…that sounded right…you had never liked female pronouns on you, and ages ago, when you tested male pronouns to yourself, that never felt right either…could you be non-binary? “um, what about gender-fluid?” Harry took a deep breath and looked up.
“Okay, I’m not as knowledgeable on that since the one who actually told me about it didn’t tell me everything…anyway, its under the same...umbrella i think its called as non-binary but genderfluid is when you are both genders, not at the same time…I think, but one day yeh can be female, the other a male, sometimes neither, but that’s what gender-fluid is. They don’t have a fixed gender”
While that sounded interesting…it didn’t feel right to you, you never felt like a girl, and you never felt like a boy… “I think I’m non-binary” you breathed, feeling like a weight was lifting off your entire body. You grinned as Harry smiled.
“awesome, welcome to the club darling” you let yourself fall forward into Harry’s chest, who stiffened slightly and slowly wrapped his arms around you.
“thank you” you muttered quietly, rubbing your cheek into his collarbone. His entire body was still as you cuddled into him, before he relaxed and laid his cheek on your head.
“yer welcome darling” he whispered back, one of his hands going up to cup the back of your head, thumb gently rubbing back and forth.
You jumped as a sudden loud noise crashed below you, and you further ducked into Harry, yelping slightly as he tipped back and the two of you ended up in an odd pile on the rooftop.
Harry tightened his arms around you, his entire body tense again as he listened for any threats. He let out a soft sigh as the high-pitched yowl of a cat rang from where the loud noise came and the animal scuttled off. “yer fine” he whispered, letting his head hit the roof as you sat up and looked around “jus’ a cat”
-smut starts here so if you don’t want to read anything that either includes it or hints at it just scroll till you get to another warning, but this does has some plot points in it soo scroll at ur own risk-
You nodded slightly, twisting around to look at the bleak buildings of the isle. you felt something beneath your legs and you glanced down, feeling heat creep into your face as you realized you were straddling Harry's thigh, it seemed he didn’t fully realize you were doing it as well, his leg rubbing against…well your…area.
You squeaked as he pushed his leg up further and tipped forward, your hands reaching out and slamming next to Harry's head to catch yourself.
His eyes flashed open, red building on his cheeks as your faces were suddenly only two inches apart. “um” you looked to the side, biting your lip “s-sorry” Harry glanced down, the blush spreading to his ears as he realized what the pressure against his leg was. He laid his leg flat and let out a short laugh.
“uh…” you locked eyes again, and a strong shiver was sent down your spine as you looked into his sparkling ocean blue eyes.
You could feel an ache between your legs begin to grow as you lifted yourself back up and hovered over Harry's hips. Harry slowly sat up, stopping inches away from your face, his eyes drifting to your lips for a moment then looking back up at you. “I-“ you whispered, biting your lip as a devious idea came to mind “I have…an idea”
“oh,” Harry whispered back, leaning a bit closer, his hands sliding forward on the ground and resting on your thighs. “Wha’?”
“you know what would really disappoint my parents?” you grinned, your hands reaching up from your sides and gripping onto Harry's jacket, pulling him toward you a bit.
He grinned back, looking down at your lips again “wha’ would tha’ be?”
You leaned in, lips only an inch from his “sleeping with someone they would hate” you could almost feel the wide grin that spread on his lips.
“sounds an excellent idea~” he purred, hands flashing up to your shoulders as yours curled around his neck and pulled him into a hard kiss, teeth clashing and faces warm.
Harry's leg arched up against your butt and forced you forward again, your lips parted with a gasp as Harry leaned back with you. he wrapped his arms around your torso, pressing your chest into his and leaning down to nip at your neck “Harry” you breathed, pressing your lips together as Harry's hands drifted down to your butt and pushed it against his hips, an odd hardness pressing against the ache between your legs. You let out a low whispering moan as he ground against you, his lips smirking against your neck as you started to meet his hips in tandem.
“that’s it darling” he purred, trailing up your neck and sucking on your jaw “jus’ like tha’” you whimpered, ducking your head down and burning into Harry's neck as Harry's hips started to go harder and faster against you. You let out small gasps as your hips twitched and ground back down into Harry's, who let out small groans against your shoulder.
“hang on hang on” Harry grabbed your hips, stopping you and sitting up. One of his hands reached up to the back of your neck and pulled you back, lips crashing into yours in a bruising kiss. His hips started again, the heat between your legs almost becoming unbearable as you trust against them to get rid of the ache.
Harry nipped at your lip, smirking as you opened at his request and tilted his head to deepen the kiss. He sucked at your lip, dragging your tongue into his mouth. You sighed at the feeling, tightening your grip on his jacket as you let him just play with your tongue.
He pulled back, smirking at the trail of saliva that still connected your lips. “shall I take yeh to my apartment yer highness~ yeh should be taken in a place of privacy, not a damned rooftop.” Your hazy mind yelled at you to go with him and you nodded, yelping slightly as Harry grabbed your thighs and stood with ease, your legs locking around his waist. “I’ll take good care of yeh darling~”
-
You let out a breathless gasp as your back hit his bed, the larger teen pouncing on top of you, not waiting for you to stop bouncing, and pressed another bruising kiss to your lips.
You heard him unzip his jacket and throw it across his room, the chain across the back making a loud sound as it hit the wall. He pulled away from you for a moment to rip off his sword sheath and shirt. You felt your face burn as his pecks and abs came into sight, slowly reaching out to trail your fingers against his scars as he pulled his shirt over his head.
You felt him shiver as you brushed your knuckle over his perked nipple and gripped onto his bicep, biting your lip at the look in his eyes as he smirked down at you.
“before we start” he rasped in a low tone, making you press your thighs together to relieve the ache that pulsed “do you really want ta do this?”
“yes” you answered immediately, smiling at his question, good to know that even after you had gone this far, he still asked for consent. He smiled back and leaned down, pressing his forehead to yours, noses touching.
“Jus’ tell me ta stop, and I will” you nodded and pulled his lips down into yours, immediately opening your mouth and clashing your tongue with his.
Within seconds your jacket was taken off and Harry pushed your top up above your breasts, unclipping your bra from the back and pushing that over your breasts as well.
You pushed at his chest, Harry immediately pulling away and raising his brow, laughing slightly as you sat up and discarded your top and bra. You pulled him back into the kiss, groaning into his as his hips dipped and pressed into yours again.
He pulled away for a split moment, making you whine in objection and tug on his hair. He leaned down and whispered into your ear, lips brushing against your skin.
“I'll make sure yeh won't be able ta walk properly tomorrow~”
-
Harry started up at the ceiling, his fingers gently trailing up and down your back. Almost every inch of him ached, from the reddening hickeys on his neck, torso, and hips, the scratches on his arms, back, and torso, to the bitemark on his neck.
He looked out his window, noting it was pitch black outside. He sighed and turned his head into you, curling his other arm around you and tugging you tighter into his side, breathing in the scent of your (fav shampoo).
He didn’t know why, but from the moment he had first seen you, your curious eyes peeking from behind Jay's shoulder, he had felt something flutter within him. He wasn’t able to stop thinking about you from then on, even as he taunted Ben in the lost revenge’s brig, unable to get those hypnotic (e/c) eyes out of his head.
He couldn’t ignore the genuine happiness when he saw you again, taking down those goons with ease and confidence. He couldn’t ignore the feeling in his chest when you laughed, the intense fluttering when you smiled at him.
The way heat rushed to his cheeks when you hugged him.
The passion he felt as he looked down at your writing body as he was deep inside you.
-Alright! Yall who don’t like reading smut/stuff that hints at it are good! You may continue reading!-
He shouldn’t feel this way, not for the child of the king that had sent his father to the isle, and dooming hundreds of kids to a floating prison just for being the children of villains. He shouldn’t feel this way about the sibling of the king they had kidnapped and were holding for ransom.
He had only heard of this type of feelings from stories of the heroes of Bora-don, how they had somehow fallen in love within seconds of meeting the other. He had never understood it, calling it stupid that someone would fall in love with someone they just met.
He understood it now, the ache in his chest when he thought of you being hurt when the villains took over the world after Uma got the wand and freed them all. He only had one word to assign it to.
Love.
His grip on your waist tightened, and he buried his face in your hair. He didn’t know if he would ever see you again after today, so he would treasure the moments he had with you now.
You groaned slightly in your sleep, your hand that wasn’t trapped under his pillow reaching up and curling around his neck, pulling yourself further into his neck, your nose pushing into the dip between his shoulder and neck.
He pressed a kiss to your head and closed his eyes, huffing slightly as he realized he felt completely content by your side.
-
You grumbled as beams of light pushed through your closed eyes, you pushed off Harry's chest and glared at the window, reaching to close the curtain that half covered it, huffing as you realized you couldn’t reach it from your spot buried in Harry's side.
You stilled as Harry's arm reached past you and closed the curtain, leaving the room in calmly lit darkness. He put his hand on your head and pushed it back onto his chest, thumb gently caressing the back of your head. “morning” you rasped, tilting your head to rest your chin on Harry's pecs and smiling at the slowly awakening pirate.
“morning darling” he rasped back, his sleepy ocean blue eyes staring back at you. He slowly sat up, shifting you to sit in his lap as he shook his head to force himself to wake up. “wha’ time is it” he grumbled, raising his brow as you reached behind him for your pants, that were hanging off his bed frame, and pulled out your phone.
“8:30” you set your phone on the nightstand and flopped back into Harry's chest, tightly wrapping your arms around him. “what time is the…thing?”
“12” he hummed, pressing his cheek to your head and holding onto you “so…”
“three and a half hours” you did the math for him, pouting as he pulled you back slightly and looked into your eyes.
“Uma wanted me at the ship at nine darling…” you sighed, looking at your lap as you realized your time with the handsome pirate was almost up.
He pressed a kiss to your head and pulled his blankets around you, covering your nakedness and getting out of the bed, aware of your eyes on his butt as he walked over to his dresser.
“Please tell me it wasn’t just me” he paused as he slid his underwear over his hips and looked over at his shoulder at you, eyes widening as he saw a droplet of water appear from behind your hair and fall onto the blanket “please tell me it wasn’t just me that felt something”
He was silent for a few moments, biting his lip as his heart raced with the realization that you felt the same way he did.
He stared at you for a few moments before turning back to his dresser and opening the small box on top and pulling out a necklace.
He turned and walked towards you, giving you a soft smile as he sat in front of you and gently lifted the tread around your neck, trailing his fingers down it and holding the small charm in his fingertips.
You glanced down at it and gasped, the charm was a small metal hook with a small red gem in the middle of the bulb. “this is something I’ve had fer awhile” Harry whispered, looking back up at you and bonking his forehead into yours “Gil made it for meh a long time ago, but it…it didn’t feel right on me…but I kept it cause it felt like it had a purpose…I guess that purpose was ta be on yeh” you sniffed as your vison blurred “what I’m saying is…yes, it wasn’t jus’ you, I felt something too”
He tilted your chin up with his finger, softly smiling at you and leaning in slightly “a feeling I’ve only heard in yer Bora-don tales” you gasped slightly at that, heart going a thousand miles a minute as you realized he had felt the same way you did since you had first seen him last night in the ally “it sounds stupid” he chuckled, looking off for a moment “I never believe those tales of love at first sight or that type of shit but…” he looked back into your eyes, hand trailing from your chin to the back of your neck “I was proved wrong”
He pulled you into a sweet, soft kiss, your eyes closing as he slowly moved his lips against yours, his other hand coming up and taking your hand that wasn’t holding the blanket.
Your mind went hazy as the world around you melted away at the taste of Harry's bruised lips, giving you the softest kiss you had ever gotten from anyone.
He pulled back for a moment, pressing another soft kiss to your lips before sitting back and opening his eyes, smiling as you kept yours closed and swayed slightly “(y/n)” he whispered, realizing he had to go very soon if he wanted to make sure you got back to the core four safely, and make it to the ship on time “ye have ta go now”
You slowly opened your eyes and pouted, tilting forward and hugging Harry tightly “I know, but It's too dangerous for yeh here love, get dressed, and I’ll walk ye back to the hideout” you shook your head against his chest but obeyed after he clicked his tongue and picked one of your legs up and let it drop on the floor.
He pressed a kiss to your forehead and stood, grabbing his clothes that had been tossed around in the night and quickly getting dressed, grumbling about his belts that had somehow disappeared.
“under the bed” you snorted, laughing as Harry paused and dropped to his knees and looked under the bed, muttering some curses to himself as he pulled out the two black-brown belts and attached them to his hips.
You sighed as you ran your fingers over the purple hickeys all over your neck and torso, whistling slightly at the dark bite mark on your ribs. You mentally thanked your past self as you pulled your turtle neck over your head and smoothed it down. “yeh ready darling?” you nodded over to your shoes and picked them up, walking over to Harry's bed to put them on.
You finished lacing them up and jumped slightly as Harry's hand appeared in your vision. You looked up slightly, biting your lip as he was fully geared up, a tricorn hat on his head, and a blue headwrap hiding his fluffy back hair. He had lined his eyes thick making the blue pop. You took his head and stood, the two of you walking out of his apartment and towards the hideout.
-
You stopped just a little less than a block away from the hideout, Harry taking off his hat and holding it in front of your faces as he pressed a soft kiss to your lips “I’ll see yeh later yer highness” he whispered with a smile, he took a step back and bowed low, flipping his hat on his head as he stood.
You shared a sad smile and Harry walked away. You watched him for a moment before you called after him, he turned with a raised brow “stay safe…please” you smiled as he nodded.
“as yeh wish” he turned away and walked toward the wharf, leaving you to return to the hideout alone, the cold metal of the hook charm against your chest reminding you that you might never see him again after today.
-
You never did see him again that day, being forced to stay with the car as the others went to get Ben.
It had been a week since cotillion, and you stared at yourself in the mirror, dark bags under your eyes as the clock read 2 am.
It had been hard…hearing yourself being referred to as “she” or “her” or “the sister of king ben” when you had finally found out who you were.
After you had gotten back you had scoured the internet to look up the terms Harry had told you. Non-binary…’Non-binary people not only do not identify as the gender they were assigned at birth; they do not identify with the male or female gender at all’
You were non-binary, and it was so hard to hear yourself be misgendered after years of feeling uncomfortable being referred to as a ‘girl’ then finally figuring yourself after meeting Harry. you thought of telling the core four, but you were scared that they would ask about how you found out, and then you would have to spill the beans about Harry.
You didn’t know what it meant to be non-binary but…this was your journey right? As long as you felt it was right…it had to be the right path…right? You glanced at the scissors on the counter, then back at yourself in the mirror, frowning at your long hair that your mother had demanded that you never cut dramatically, in fear that you would be seen as a boy.
…well fuck that.
You grabbed your scissors in one hand, your hair in the other, and pulled it to the side. You closed your eyes as you held the scissors over your hair.
*snip!*
You hardly looked as you chopped off your long hair, the locks falling on your feet and bathroom floor as you did.
You took a deep breath as you set down the scissors again and quickly looked at yourself, breath-stopping as you did.
“oh” you breathed, leaning forward towards the mirror and reaching up to touch your choppy short hair “...there you are” the cut was ugly and rough but…it felt right…you smiled, running your hands through your hair.
A thought came to mind, and you ran into your room to grab a baggy button-up shirt you had stolen from Ben months ago and quickly threw it over your tank top and buttoned it up.
You took a deep breath and stepped in front of your mirror, your eyes burning as you felt like you were seeing yourself for the first time “there you are” you whispered again, reaching up and grabbing the hook charm as you closed your eyes.
Your name was (y/n), and you were non-binary.
And if that disappointed your parents? Or anyone else in Auradon? Fuck em.
If you were proud of yourself that was all that mattered.
-end of part 1-
2nd parts gonna be after d2 and into D3 with (y/n) telling Ben and the C4 about them being NB and doing things to help themselves feel more like themselves…yep :D hopefully, I did this fic right and represented those who are non-binary correctly, I used the knowledge I had and did some research to make sure I didn’t type any stupid shit.
Oh also enjoy this little sketch dump I did while writing this, it's not (y/n) exactly, but just how I envisioned the “character” if it wasn’t a blank slate “character” lol, and yes they do got a pirate look going on…that’s the point XD they take inspo for their fashion from Harry/pirates.

Being the Daughter of Ariel Part 2 - Descendants Headcanons
Part 2 to this!
First up, cotillion was nearing, and as co-president of the student council, you had a lot of stuff to do.
Then, a few days before cotillion, Mal and Ben have an argument, Mal runs away, the rest of the VKs and Ben traveled to the aisle, and by the time the news gets to you, Ben had been kidnapped and the VKs are planning his rescue
“Are you kidding me?” You groaned and looked at the pile of work on your desk.
“You wanna come with?” Lonnie asked. “We could always use some of that water magic.”
You inhaled through your teeth. “Aquakinesis won’t work over there.” You blinked. “But, I can get you some reinforcements.” You hugged her and wished her luck. “Tell Ben he’s stupid and that he better come back here alive.”
Immediately, you called an old friend.
Luana, daughter of Lilo, didn’t have aquakinesis like you did, but she would never miss the opportunity to see Pudge
“Hi, Pudge!” Luana gave him his favorite, a peanut butter sandwich.
Pudge took it in his mouth and smiled.
“He says thank you.” The two of you crouched down, and you explained, “Our friends need some help on the Isle. You think you could gather up some of your friends and rock the boat a little.”
The orange fish threw the sandwich in the air, swallowed it, and nodded.
“Great. Thanks, Pudge.”
Luana smiled. “I’ll visit you again soon!”
One task down, several more to go. After all, with your co-president and king absent, all of his tasks were passed down to you.
Thank the gods for Jane, though, she was always a big help.
“Pen toppers aren’t in yet,” you mentioned, looking at the order forms.
Jane sighed. “I thought I called them. I’ll call again, see if we could get some fairies to pick it up at their location.”
“Thank you, Jane.” You moved onto the next set of inventory. Food and set up. You glared at the cook’s summary of the course. He didn’t have anything for vegans.
Jane stopped in her tracks to look over your shoulder. “I’ll take that to the chef.”
“Are you sure? You have so much.”
Jane laughed and nodded to your pile of papers. “I think you have more.” She shrugged. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve got it.” She smiled and took the chef’s notes from your hands.
Then, Ben was back!
You pulled him into a hug. “You’re an idiot.” You took his wrist and dragged him behind you. “Who still needs to get dressed, approve the surprise, and…” You paused. Usually, Ben would try to stop you, talk to Mal or something. Especially since Mal wasn’t following him.
Something was wrong.
“What happened?” You stopped and crossed your arms.
He blinked. “Nothing.”
“Nope, spit it out. Something’s wrong.” You narrowed your eyes. “You’re stressed, beyond stressed, but even when you’re like that, you never ignore your girlfriend.”
Ben scoffed and shrugged. “I mean, we’ve only known each other for a bit more than a year.”
“What?”
“Excuse me?”
“I mean, ‘What?’” You laughed. “Ben, you knew you were in love with her the second you laid eyes on her. I disapproved, because it sounded crazy, but you were that stubborn and it worked. Mal and you are in love.”
Suddenly, Ben grew small. He fidgetted with his fingers. Nervous. “Maybe we’re not.”
Something was still off.
You narrowed your eyes at him, but before you could say anything, Lumiere arrived. “Your majesty, we must hurry!” He smiled at you. “Excuse me, mademoiselle, but we really must take our leave.”
You smiled at him. “Yes, just make sure the king has his head screwed on tight.” You eyed Ben. “Seems like he’s still a bit frazzled from his assassination attempt.”
“It was just a kidnapping,” Ben said.
You rolled your eyes and continued on your day.
You had a lot of things to do. Ben could handle himself.
… well Mal could handle him anyway
You had a cotillon to handle
Everything was going smoothly. Set up was perfect. Food was perfect. Mal’s entrance was perfect.
Then, Ben… oh your best friend and one of your dearest friend Ben humiliated another girlfriend publicly
Then, apparently, somehow, for no reason at all, another girl appears. Apparently, Ben was just like his mother. He had charmed his captor.
But, no, something was wrong
You didn’t know this new girl, Uma, and she seemed ok, but Ben wasn’t that stupid. He had learned from his mistakes, he wouldn’t have done that again.
So when everyone was comforting Mal, escorting her out, you grabbed Ben’s wrist
“What are you-”
“Ben,” you said sternly, “you are acting-”
“Like what?” he snapped.
You growled. “Like a beast, Ben.”
He blinked a few times, and you could see something in his eyes. Something that wasn’t supposed to be there. Yellow wisps of magic.
“You’re spelled,” you whispered.
Ben fought your grasp and went back to Uma.
Then, Lumiere revealed the gift Ben had made for Mal.
While the crowd gasped and awed, you were getting down to business. After all, you weren’t on school grounds.
With a few bars, the ocean obeyed you and wrapped around Uma’s legs. The daughter of Ursula gasped. She sneered at you, “How dare you. Let me go!”
“Let her go!” Ben repeated.
Before he could get to you, Mal grabbed Ben by the wrist
She was talking about love and whatever, but Uma was talking, too, struggling against your aquatic hold on her, and you can feel your powers draining, and your hold on the water was slipping.
With a gasp, you looked over your shoulder at the ocean. One call or shout, and aquatic creatures or maybe even your aunt, the Queen of Atlantica, would be at your side.
But Uma wasn’t stupid.
So once Mal kissed Ben, Uma knew she’d have to improvise. In fights back on the Isle, the sea was her advantage, the card up her sleeve.
But on the Isle, she didn’t have to deal with Ariel’s daughter. So, to take back that advantage, she did what her mother had done to yours.
One hand on her mother’s necklace, Uma flung out her hand, and just as you cried for help, your voice left your body and traveled right to Uma’s necklace
You had no voice.
No voice at all.
You gasped and tried your best to speak, but all the words died in your throat before it could even touch your tongue. The daughter of Ursula had taken your voice. You couldn’t say anything. You couldn’t sing anything. Not without your voice.
The ocean couldn’t listen to you, and so it released Uma, and she went for the wand
When that failed, she went to the side of the ship.
You followed the crowd, desperate to see her necklace. If you could just get to that, you could get your voice back! You could help!
Evie stopped you. “Let Mal handle this.”
Your hand went to your throat, and you hoped that Evie knew sign language. “My voice is gone,” you said.
Evie’s eyes widened.
Uma jumped into the water. She turned into another form, just like her mother.
Mal was angry already, but then her eyes fell on you, your hand on your throat and tears gleaming in your eyes.
Mal wasn’t going to let Uma get away with any of this.
The two fought. The boat rocked. And suddenly, the ocean, the place you called home, was against you.
And then, Ben, your best friend and king, jumped in.
When you were kids, Ben had asked once, “If I had to jump off a cliff, would you follow?” He sighed. “My parents said that our people would always follow me, even when I was wrong. Would you follow me?”
Audrey had shrugged. “Of course.” She had grabbed his hand in hers and said, “Because I know you’ll always have our best in mind.”
“I wouldn’t,” you had admitted. With a smile, you had reassured him, “I’d save you.”
So, when Ben jumped off the boat into raging waters he couldn’t control, you jumped in after him.
And once you did, the sea knew. It calmed down, knowing that one of their royals was there.
The ocean was frigid, and you could sense its unease. So, as Ben talked both Mal and Uma down, you looked up at the boat. Luana, daughter of Lilo, and Mele, son of Moana, smiled at you.
They jumped into the water with you and stayed by your side
The ocean calmed down. With one of their princesses, someone who honored them, and someone who helped them all together in the ocean, it knew that nothing bad would happen.
Then, Ben reached out his hand and welcomed Uma to Auradon.
The daughter of Ursula stared at Ben’s hand. Then, her eyes caught yours, the girl she stole from.
And you could tell she was sorry. You knew why she took your voice. She needed an advantage, and with you, a princess of the sea against her, she wouldn’t win.
And so, you smiled a little.
Uma was perplexed, but you would only see it for a moment.
And so, she holds her necklace and lets your voice out.
You smiled. Laughter traveled up your throat and past your lips, and you let yourself laugh.
So, you thought she’d take Ben’s offer.
But she didn’t. She left.
Your best friend was heartbroken.
You sighed. “I’ll get everyone back up.”
“Let me,” Mele said. “Right, Ocean?”
A wave approached Mele and just doused Mele in water. The son of Moana spat out water and groaned. “Is this because I haven’t visited?”
A wave nodded.
Luana inhaled through her teeth. “You’re gonna wanna hold your breath, Mele.”
“What?”
Suddenly, the ocean wrapped Luana by the legs and flipped Mele over so his legs stuck out. Then, the two were brought back up to the boat.
The ocean was about to bring you back, but you held up your hand. “Just a minute.” You dove underwater and observed. Nothing out of the ordinary. You wouldn’t be able to track Uma, at least not by yourself. You’d have to recruit some of your subjects, maybe tell your aunt and see-
Ben swam in front of you and pointed up.
When the two of you surfaced, you said, “I could get someone to watch out for her. The barrier’s closed, so she would just have to be-”
“Woah, relax.”
“Relax?”
“Yes.” He laughed. “Look, Uma’s gone for now. You arranged a cotillon. We should enjoy it.”
You raised your eyebrow. “Since when are you the one who wants to relax?”
“Since you took the co-president of the student body position.”
You smiled. “Alright, fine. But, I’m going to talk to Aunt Attina tomorrow.”
And so, you two went back up, enjoyed the party, and danced the night away.
Afterward, your mother took you into her arms and cradled your face. “Your voice?”
“It’s back,” you said. “She returned it when she left.”
Your mother sighed and held you close. “I am so sorry that happened, dear.” She smiled at your and brushed your hair back. “Are you alright?”
“I think so.” You sighed. “I mean, I got it back, but now…” You bit your lip. “I need to learn how to fight.fight. I can't just rely on my voice and the ocean to save me.”
Your mom just smiled. “We can arrange that.”
So, amongst your duties as student body co-president, you took a summer class, taught by his majesty, Eugene Fitzherbert.
You visited Jay while he was practicing, too, and he always gave you amazing pointers.
“You’re getting better!” Jay said. “In ten years or so, you just might be able to go toe to toe with me.”
You laughed. “Well, I’m learning under King Fitzherbert, so  maybe it’ll be in five years.”
Jay bit his lip. “Fitzherbert?”
“Oh my god.”
Jay burst into laughter. “That is the best name I’ve ever heard of. And I know a guy nicknamed Snotty back on the Isle.”
“Well, you’d love my teacher. He’s the best.”
So, naturally, you introduced Jay to his majesty. “Mr. Eugene, this is Jay. Jay, this is my teacher.”
“Ah, Jay, nice to finally meet you. I heard you were a thief back on the Isle.”
Jay shrugged. “In another life.”
“Me, too.” Mr. Eugene laughed heartily. “You know, I managed to steal a crown from a heavily guarded castle.”
“Really?!”
By the end of your class, Jay was a teacher’s assistant. He confided in you, one day, “I think I wanna be a teacher one day.”
You smiled at him. “That’s a great job. Cause of Mr. Eugene?”
“Yeah!” Jay laughed. “I mean, his job sounds so great. And I, I don’t know, I think it would be fun. To teach other kids and be a VK. Maybe be a coach, or like Mr. Eugene, teach sword fighting.” He turned to you. “Maybe Remedial Goodness.”
“You want to take over Fairy Godmother’s class?”
“Well, if that class is for VK’s, maybe a VK should teach it.”
You smiled. "That's a wonderful idea."
And so you and Jay researched what it would take for him to be a teacher. When none applied, since Remedial Goodness was kind of a new class, you went up to Fairy Godmother together.
“You wanna be a teacher?” She smiled. “Really, Jay?”
He nodded. “Just like you, Fairy Godmother.”
“Aw.” She booped his nose and babbled, “Well, Remedial Goodness is a new class, and what allowed me to do it is, well, I am Fairy Godmother, but I think getting you a teaching degree, so a few years of schooling with some volunteering along the way, then a test from me and my fellow fairies, which I’m sure you’d pass, then some years of shadowing me while I teach, then you’d be good to go!”
Jay just stared at Fairy Godmother, overwhelmed and confused.
You laughed. “So three main steps.” You counted off. “One, teaching degree. Two, Fairy test. Three, shadowing.”
He nodded. “Oh, easy enough!”
After that, Jay always came to you for academic, post-high-school advice. Soon, it wasn’t uncommon for either of you to show up at each other’s door late at night.
“(Y/n)?”
You smiled and handed him a list. “There are several volunteer programs looking for high school graduates  in other kingdoms.” You shrugged. “Just an option if you wanted to travel.”
Jay took the list and stared at it. He raised his eyebrow and showed you the list. “You highlighted Atlantica.” He leaned against the doorframe and smirked. “Trying to tell me something, princess?”
You raised your eyebrow. “Save the smolder for someone who’s interested, Jay.”
He laughed. “Sometimes, the charm just can’t be held back.” He smiled. “Thanks for the list. I’ll look into it.”
“No problem, Jay.”
Carlos’s visits to you were more sporadic, more unexpected. Once, it was nearly five in the morning when he knocked on your door.
“Carlos, what-”
“What’s Jane’s favorite color?”
You yawned. “What do you think it is?” Which was the wrong move because after you asked, he went on a long rant about how he was sure it was pale bluebird blue, but then he realized that all her accessories were bright pink so it could be bright pink, but she also had pale pink things so maybe it was pale pink, and since he wasn’t sure about her favorite color, did that make him a bad boyfriend?
“Carlos?”
He kept on and on. Because oh my gods did he even deserve Jane?
“Carlos!” You tapped his shoulder.
He yelped and sighed. When it dawned on him how much he was talking, he gulped. “Sorry, I should go.”
“Nope.” You grabbed his wrist. “It’s ok, just next time text me.” You sighed. “Jane’s favorite color is bluebird blue, and even if you didn’t know that, that doesn’t make you a bad boyfriend.” You told him earnestly, “Jane, she really likes you, Carlos. Not Jay or me or Ben or whoever, she likes you.”
Carlos sighed. “Thanks.”
“No problem.”
Mal and you went on patrol together.
You changed your tail back to legs and wrung out your hair. “No sign of her.”
“Nothing?” Mal groaned. “What about your aunt?”
“No, nothing out of the ordinary under the sea.”
The future queen threw her head back and shut her eyes. “How can we not find her?” She stomped back into the castle, and you followed her. “Uma could be anywhere, planning her next move, planning to destroy Auradon, and I can’t do anything.”
“Hey!” You grabbed her wrist and and stopped her. “Hey, calm down.” You held her shoulders and instructed, “Let’s take a deep breath.”
“(Y/n)-”
“No, breathe first. In” - you took a deep breath and watched as Mal reluctantly closed her eyes and breathed in- “Out.”
You sighed and reassured her, “You’re doing everything you can for Auradon. I’ve never seen a more dedicated royal.”
She squinted at you. “Really? Ben, Audrey, Belle, Fairy Godmoth-”
“Yes, even including them.” You shrugged. “Ben dedicates himself to Auradon, sure, and Audrey, Belle, and Fairy Godmother did, too, but you dedicate yourself much more. And it’s great, a wonderful thing to do as future queen, but sometimes you go overboard.”
“Overboard. How can you go overboard?”
“By thinking that you have to be a perfect future queen in order to be respected in Auradon?”
Mal glared at you. “I am not ashamed of where I come from.”
“I never said you were.” When her eyes softened, losing that slight green tint, you continued, “Listen, you’re doing a more than wonderful job. But, you need time for yourself, Mal. Stop stressing over Uma for a second and enjoy being you. Do something you enjoy.”
“Something I enjoy? How can I do that when I have a duty to Auradon?”
You thought for a bit. “Ok, you may not be comfortable completely prying yourself away from work, so how about a compromise?” You smiled. “You are a VK kid, and the VK program needs work. Political duty to Auradon and something your passionate about.”
“Work on the VK program,” she mumbled. “That I can do.”
Evie became your go-to for event coordinating when Jane wasn’t available. Evie did have a great eye, after all, so designing help. That was her.
“Blue is overused,” Evie said, “and I love blue.”
“Well, I don’t know what other color palette I have for a winter dance.”
Evie hummed, looking through her fabrics. “Ah!’’ She pulled out a lavender fabric. “This, like the sunset before dark. Pair this with some off-whites and a few blues and voila! Winter Dance without the blues and everything.”
You nodded. “That’s a great idea. May I have some swatches?”
“Sure!” She took some of her scrap fabric, lavender, perinkle, and off white, and handed it to you. “This is what I’m thinking.” She grabbed another one. “And a pale gold just in case you wanna switch it up.”
“You’re the best.”
“I know.”
Nearing the end of junior year, your friends started asking you weird questions out of the blue.
“Favorite color?” Jay asked you while fencing.
“What?” You blocked another one of his blows. “Uh, I don’t know. Why?”
“Nothing!”
Carlos had asked, “Ever wonder what job you wanna get? I say vet for me, but what about you? In Atlantica? Here? Government maybe?”
“Uh, not sure. Why?”
“Nothing.”
Evie kept on taking your measurements. “Do you prefer a dress or a pantsuit? Both are stylish, but I wanna know what you prefer.”
You shrugged. “Either. I guess it depends on the occasion. Why?”
“Oh, don’t worry your pretty head about it.”
After one patrol session, Mal asked you, “You ever think about living in Atlantica or staying here?”
“Oh, I guess it depends on what happens after we graduate. Why?”
“Just wondering.”
It was getting weird. Even Ben was in on whatever was going on.
“Hypothetically, if you were having a celebration, would you want balloons or maybe confetti? Or both?”
You stared at him, and your best friend gulped. “Hypothetically,” he lied.
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing!”
“Uh huh, sure. Ben, I’ve known you for more than a decade, come on.”
He sighed, defeated. “It’s a surprise. Kinda anyway.”
“What’s the surprise?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Benjamin-”
“Just wait til tomorrow, please. I promise it’ll be worth it.”
And so you waited. The next day, Lumiere informed you that Jane had taken care of all your work for the day. “His majesty and lady request that you meet with him in the main conference room for a wonderful surprise!”
You tilted your head. “Ok. It’s not a prank, right, Lumiere? You’d tell me.”
“Of course, mademoiselle.” Before you left, he added, “And I do believe this surprise is a good one.”
You nodded. “Thank you, Lumiere.”
When you arrived at the conference room, Ben, Jane, and all the VK’s were there. Everything else was normal except for the large scroll before them.
You raised your eyebrow. “My surprise is paper?”
“More of a proposal,” Mal said.
Ben smiled. “We hope you’ll accept.”
You took the scroll in your hand and unfurled it. “To (Y/n), princess of Atlantica and co-president of the student body council.” You laughed. So formal. “You have shown a great dedication to the kingdom of Auradon through your hard work during festivities and common sense that some of the court lacks.” You shrugged. “Won’t argue there.” Still confused, you read on, “It is with great pride and pleasure that upon graduation from Auradon high school, his majesty offers you the office of primary advisor?”
You trailed off, shocked and honored. You smiled. “Ben, you want me to be your right-hand woman?”
Your best friend nodded. “I couldn’t think of anyone better for the job.” He paused. “That is, if you want it.”
“Want it?” You laughed. “Ben, you just offered me a job that lets me stay with you and helps the kingdom.” You shrugged. ‘How could I ever say no?”
The room erupted in cheers. Carlos pressed a button, and suddenly balloons and confetti were released. Everyone was hugging you, congratulating you. And you were happy. Job security with the people you cared about for the kingdom you grew up in. What could be better?
“Pardon me?”
Everyone stopped. Audrey was at the door. New hair, new look, much softer and more delicate. She blinked a few times. “Apologies, I must-”
“Audrey!” You bolted towards her and hugged her. “It’s been too long!”
Then, your best friend laughed, her politeness and etiquette gone. “It has! I’ve missed you so much!” She hugged you again. “I have so much to tell you.”
“So do I!” You giggled and held up the parchment. “Guess what I’m doing after graduation!”
Audrey read the parchment over. Her smile dropped, but only for a second, before she smiled at you. “Primary advisor. That’s great.”
You squealed and hugged her again. “Thanks, Audrey.”
“Yeah, of course.”
You were too caught up in your fantasy life after graduation that you didn’t realize that Audrey was unhappy.
There was a tiny celebration, organized by Ben and Evie, by the sea. Of course Audrey was there, she and Ben were your oldest friends and you weren’t going to not invite her.
You didn’t get to see her much, but you promised her that this summer was for you and her and Ben, to hang out and be the iconic trio you were before.
“I have to tell you so much,” you said. “About the VKs, about last year. It was crazy.”
“I heard. Ben got kidnapped, you showed off some of that water power, and a promotion and job offer. It’s a lot.”
“Yeah!”
Then, something happened. Or rather, someone.
You were in Atlantica, checking in with your aunt to see if Uma was spotted. Nothing.
But when you were strolling through a local marketplace, you spotted her. It was Uma, conversing with one of the retailers as if she wasn’t a wanted criminal.
The storekeeper spotted you, their eyes widened, and shooed Uma away.
The daughter of Ursula saw you and immediately swam away.
“Wait!” You swam after her, but for the first time in your life, your people weren’t on your side. They blocked your path, distracted you with trinkets and questions, and in the chaos, you lost her.
And you wanted to find her again.
Mal wanted her locked up, thrown her back to the Isle. Ben wanted to admit her as an official VK, allow her a second chance he claimed she deserved. You, on the other hand, you wanted to talk to her. Both Ben and Mal had the extremes in mind, and yes you used to be like Mal. After all, when you heard Ben was manipulated by her, you just wanted her gone. But Mal and Ben showed you that could change. Maybe she could, too.
She didn’t have to give your voice back. There must be something else to Uma than just being evil.
Every day, you made an effort to search the ocean without Mal just to find Uma. If you could find her, talk to her, maybe she’d be willing to talk to Ben and Mal, work out a way to make up for what she did and come to Auradon afterward.
“I am heading to my weekly spa appointment!” Audrey smiled. “Wanna come with? You know, you could use a new hairstyle, just like me.”
You sighed. “Oh, I’m so sorry, Audrey, I’ve gotta patrol today. Raincheck?”
“Right, of course.” She shrugged. “Next week then.”
“Great! Love you, Audrey.” You hugged her and kissed her cheek before leaving.
Back in the waters, you weren’t any closer to finding Uma. The people in that small village were adamant about not telling you anything about Uma.
“Please, I don’t want to bring her to my aunt. I just want to talk to her.”
The shopkeeper shrugged. “Sorry, your royal highness. I don’t know an Uma. You must’ve seen something else last time you were here.”
“Fine.” You reached took out a pouch from your bag and handed it to the shopkeeper. “If a person who happens to turn from sea creature to human frequently comes along, give this to them.” You sighed. “It’s haircare. Your hair tends to act weirdly when you go from water to air and back and forth.”
So you left the bag with the shopkeeper.
Your daily Atlantica visits became weekly visits. You had more time to spend working for your upcoming senior year. There was the homecoming dance to organize, the VK program orientation to go over, and your other daily to-do list for a student body co-president
“Well, we can accommodate four more,” you said.
Mal sighed. “No other seniors are graduating?”
You shook your head. “Next year, we can take in twenty-three, but then it becomes a question of resources and teachers.”
“Maintaining the fifteen students to a teacher ratio,” Mal said.
“Exactly.” You inhaled through your teeth. “I could ask the Blue Fairy to come in, teach a second Remedial Goodness class.”
“Jay can also get to know her and learn from two Remedial Goodness teachers.”
“Yeah!”
“Oh, excuse me?”
Mal and you looked away from your whiteboard. You smiled. “Audrey, hey, what’s up?”
“Oh, just wanted to know if, well, you were free for lunch?” She smiled. “I guess you’re busy, though, huh?”
You shrugged. “Yeah. Maybe tomorrow?”
“Sure. I’ll see you later?”
“Of course.”
With that, Audrey was gone, and you and Mal went back to work.
Audrey and you were able to get lunch, thankfully.
“So sorry, my schedule’s been horrendous since becoming co-president.”
“Oh, it’s no problem.” Your best friend smiled. “I just really want to spend time with you. I missed my bestie.”
Your heart swelled. “Me, too.” You reached out to hold her hand and sighed. “It’s just all been so crazy.”
“I get that. Ever since Ben’s VK program,” she trailed off.
“Our VK program,” you corrected her. “We all agreed this would be best for Auradon and for the Isle. Rectify our parents’ mistakes.”
She pursed her lips. “Sometimes, I just wished everything was normal again.”
“I get that.” You laughed. “I miss our sleepovers in Ben’s room.”
“He had the softest bed!”
“Exactly!”
“Man, I haven’t seen Benny in a while.”
You shrugged. “He’s got a lot now. Once he gets a handle on everything, he’ll have time.”
Your phone rang. “So sorry, let me take this.” You answered it. “Princess (Y/n) of Atlantica, who’s-”
“Hi there, princess.” Uma. You held your breath and tried not to show how uncomfortable you were. “Listen, I don’t know what game you’re playing, but it’d be best for you to keep out of it.” She hung up.
You kept up the happy expression. “Right, I’ll be right there. Goodbye.” With a sad smile, you lied to your best friend, “Emergency at the palace. I’m sorry, what about tomorrow?”
Audrey’s smile flickered. “I have cheerleading tomorrow.”
“Right, um, we’ll schedule lunch for some other day, ok?”
With that, you headed straight for the beach and dove in.
When you reached the village you spotted Uma at, there was barely anyone there. You went from shop to shop, only finding some polite workers.
Suddenly, the water around you grew cold, almost as if it was stiffer. Dismissing it as a cold current, you swam ahead, but the chilliness didn’t leave you. Then, your muscles ached, and you had the strongest urge to sleep.
The ocean, it was warning you against something.
You stared at your own hands, and there were wisps of yellow magic curling around you.
“Uma,” you whispered.
And everything went black.
The first thing you registered was the cold water biting into your skin. The dark, murky waters, and the sound of bubbles from swimming.
Just as you were about to move, something restrained you, enchanted seaweed. You groaned. “This is unnecessary,” you said. “I’m not turning you in.”
“Sure you aren’t.” Uma swam into your vision, octopus legs and all. Her hair was well-maintained, though, and you knew why.
You smiled. “Like the hair care.”
“I had it checked for poison before using it.”
“That’s smart, but I wouldn’t do that.”
She crossed her arms. “How would I know that?”
“I’m not the villain.”
She growled. “Neither am I.”
You sighed. “Sorry. Didn’t mean it like that.” There was silence for a while, as you tried to find the words to express what you felt and she just waited. Finally, you broke the silence, “I just want to know what your endgame is.”
“Endgame?”
“What do you want?”
Uma blinked, obviously confused by your question. “I want the wand.”
You laughed. “I know, but why do you want the wand? Why did you want to bring down the barrier?”
“To get my crew out of the Isle.”
You smiled. “See, that’s the point of the VK program-”
“And how many kids has that helped, hm? Four. Four, and only the high-profile kids.” Uma scoffed. “Do you know how many kids are on the Isle? Four a year, not even, four every two years, it would take you more than a century to get all the kids out.
“There are kids who don’t deserve to be there, kids whose parents were just puppets in schemes, and yet they stay there, starving and rotting on an island your parents created just to punish their parents.”
You were shocked. As student body co-president you knew there were a lot of kids that needed to get out of the isle, but that many? And not just of villains, but of their henchmen, blinded by need for work or money or food and punished for it.
“I… I didn’t know.”
“I didn’t think so.” She shook her head and turned away from you as she recounted, “My crew, they’re good people, kids of Hook, Hook’s pirates, Hans, his brothers.”
With a growl she turned to you, “And you’re doing nothing about it.”
“I-”
“Consider this a warning, princess. Next time you look for me, plan to take me in, bait me with false kindness, I won’t hesitate to rip your voice from your throat.”
The water around you grew cold again, and before you could defend yourself, ask her to come with you and explain herself, black ink surrounded you, and the next time you blinked, you were in the middle of the village, with no clue how you got there or where Uma was.
Summer was almost over.
But, there was one more surprise.
Ben smiled and shrugged. “What do you think?”
You stared at it, not sure how to feel. It was beautiful, perfect for Mal, but, “Ben, we’re only eighteen.”
“I know. But I know it’s her.” He smiled so brightly, and your heart melted at the sight. “I just, I can’t imagine my life without her. And, I want to be by her side all the time. Being king is great, but being hers?” Your best friend laughed. “It’s the greatest honor I could ever have.”
You bit your lip. “Well, who can say no to that?” You took the box in your hands and looked it over once more. A thick golden band, sculpture to look like a dragon’s wings, and a purple jewel, her signature color. “Mal is going to love it. Congratulations, Ben.”
The king smiled. “Thank you. Well, she has to say yes first.” Ben glanced at the ring once more before closing it. “Can you believe it? I’m going to be engaged!”
With Ben being lovesick and Mal obviously out of the loop, you turned to Evie and Doug. “I can’t plan this engagement by myself.”
“Leave it to us!” Evie said. “I’ll get decor and make sure both look stunning.”
“I’ll get the band on board,” Doug said. “And make sure Jay talks to Fairy Godmother to make sure it all goes smoothly.”
“Are you sure?” You opened your planner. “I can easily arrange something with the band and choir if you-”
“No, you need a break!” Evie held your hand and said earnestly, “You’ve been so involved. You need to let someone else take charge for a while, At least for a little bit.”
You sighed. “Thanks you guys.”
Doug left to attend to something, so you leaned in close and asked, “Is that what you did with, um, his hair?”
Evie laughed. “He’s trying something!”
“And you’re letting him?”
Evie laughed. “I love my fashion disaster, ok?”
“Fine fine, but if he doesn’t change it in a year, I’m cutting it myself.”
And so you planned everything to a tee. While Uma was unfortunately not going to be scheduled for a meeting with the king and his board, you had an engagement to help with, the VK program to oversee, and dances to organize.
Hopefully, senior year wouldn’t be as eventful as the years before.
Special thanks to @gardenofdescendants who gave me suggestions and was a huge help to me! And thank you to everyone who commented on the previous part ( @omgsuperstarg, @memesoldier, @crazybutconfidentaf, @cheerfullyvenomous, @pastelvixenbeauty) Hopefully this isn’t too insane (but lets be real the descendants series is insane so i have an excuse)
