all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?

Hey weird question for native Spanish speakers (American or Mexican-American Spanish)...how accurate are the little endearments that fanfic writers have Eddie use in fic? Like I know mijo and mi hijo are used in the show, but what about the ones that frequently get directed at Buck in fic? Cause I like them, but I'm also wary cause of the way a bunch of writers in The Untamed fandom had LWJ using a form of sweetheart that was apparently super sleazy in context of the actual Chinese language, lol.

Ok so Renzo would call Lucanis "Luca" either on purpose to tease him, or on accident when he's worried about him if he gets hit or injured in combat, and he would hit him with a "Lucanis Dellamorte" when they're arguing (they argue in Antivan and it's always An Event);

Lucanis would call Renzo "Ren" when he gets really emotional, to warn him in battle or during an argument, and according to the word of god™ he's a romantic, so Renzo gets called some variation of "little bird" when it's just the two of them ("uccellino" if Lucanis feels the need to emphasize it or is particularly snarky.)

Anyway. WIP! I feel like this'll be fun if I keep going but I have a tendency to lose all motivation if I leave it so I usually do things in one shot. However, I need to go to bed.

I feel like this is a lot of research that people will never see unless they themselves are Mexican but one of the reasons I make/draw things like this is so people feel seen. I looked over a couple things for this, quite fun! This is supposed to be a chiapaneca dress, but I am not used to this more "realistic" style so the dress actually needs to spread out more. It's so pretty though! Will either be very fun or very torturous to colour

This is Paloma! I haven't started on her wings and at this point I'm not sure how to add them in. She's Mexican and was a fashion designer. I'm using that as an excuse to continue putting eyeliner on Alexis, who she is friends (?) with. She's older than him.

I have seen somewhere that Spanish Spanish and Mexican Spanish are slightly different, the two should still be able to communicate. I don't know what you call a "big sister/miss" in Spanish, or if that's even something you do. I guess Senorita would be it? I'm trying to convey that Alexis is showing respect to her though, so that feels like it's not it.

I'm debating between wing styles also. I think colourful wings (Like a parrot) would be pretty, and not as common as dove wings (Which are her namesake). Also it was while I was looking those up that I found out the Mexican flag has an eagle on it! The golden eagle wings sound pretty interesting, if a little bit drab, but having her be tied to the national bird would be fun I think. And lastly, wood pigeon wings, which are also her namesake, only in Latin.

Halloween has always been a favored holiday for the sole reason she is able to be herself without funny looks, candy is just a wonderful bonus. So she would happily use her more anthro form AND dress up!
