Part 61
The first thing Ella did when the family got home was make sure Bruno got some attention. She wasn't about to let her puppy get abandonment issues!
Speaking of... despite a full nights worth of reaffirming his love with his new husband, there was one last thing Andre wanted to make his life truly complete.
Hollie agreed without hesitation, so the two disappeared for just a little while...
Last time Andre had kids, it tore apart his marriage. But this time, it could only make the bond stronger! He'd always wanted a big family and lots of kids anyway.
...Ok, that's not what I expected to get stronger! Turns out babies are good pr for politicians?
The new beautiful baby boy got dropped off in Ellis' room first. Yep, the princess legacy challenge has welcomed it's second male generation!
Since the new baby was in his room, Ellis got to make his introduction to the boy first. He wasn't sure how to act, but the moment was so magical he almost forgot his awkwardness.
It helped that the baby loved Ellis on sight, and giggled and grinned for their entire interaction.
With Uncle Ellis properly introduced, the baby was promptly moved to his parents room, where Hollie wasted no time showering his baby boy with love.
Hollie was absolutely exhausted, but he wanted to hold on to his kid for as long as possible.
As he waited for his turn to meet the baby, Andre anxiously confided in his twin. He'd gotten so carried away, he hadn't asked his daughters if they were ok with having a new sibling! He couldn't believe he'd been so inconsiderate! What if they hated the new kid?
Well, they were about to find out! The baby babbles had already caught Ana's attention, and she was impatiently waiting for her turn.
It was love at first coo for Ana! She excitedly introduced herself, all her favorite hobbies, everything a new kid would need to know about the family-
It was not love at first conversation for the baby. He wailed and screeched while Ana frantically tried to shush him.
When Ana finally got the baby calmed down, Ella made her appearance! Her reaction seemed incredibly heartwarming, but uhh...
Ella was actually furious! How dare Andre and Hollie not ask her if it was ok to bring in a baby!
Ana sat her down to have a talk about it. The baby was there for keepsies! And Ana liked him, so Ella better get used to it!
The talk didn't help Ella's mood at all. Poor dear ended up crying herself to sleep in rage.
Not Ana, though! She couldn't leave the baby's side even for a moment! She was a one-kid entertainment act that could go all night.
Uncle Ellis had to step in to tuck her into bed, when the kiddo passed out instantly. Ellis even sang some lullabies to keep her asleep. After all, someone else still needed to meet the new baby...
With the house finally quiet, Andre finally got to hold his baby. He'd raised 3 kids, but this was the first time he'd ever gotten to hold a baby. Andre could scarcely breathe.
Andre was the only Queen in generations (or ever, depending on how you classify Snow) to be an ordinary sim, but his kids were all the magic he needed. With that in mind, it was about time to give this kid a name that wasn't "the baby" or "baby boy". Andre hadn't really given himself time to think up baby names, but an old childhood story came to mind.
Thus, with true love's kiss, baby Cinder got his name. Named after the extremely rare phoenix that had guarded his great-grandmother Hanabi.
Now uhhh.... which of the twin girls is going to have to give up their space for a baby room?
Ah, that's a problem for another day. And through all this and more, Strawberry rocks on.

Sleeper Agent AU. So what was life in Salem's castle for Ruby, what is her relations with Hazel, Watts, Tyrian and later Cinder. Same question for Summer.
So in the sleeper agent Ruby AU… how much does Yang know, if she knows anything about it at all?
Is she also a sleeper?@dudeblade
“Get off me!”
“Not until you admit defeat!”
Ruby tried to get out of Cinder’s grip, struggling to do so. After a few moments, she managed to see how close Cinder’s arm was to her face, letting her lick her.
Cinder shoved Ruby away, wiping her arm. “Ruby! That’s gross!”
“I told you to get off-” Ruby was quickly interrupted by a blunt arrow hitting her in the chest. She fell back and groaned as the arrow dissipated into dust.
Cinder walked over and put a foot on Ruby’s chest, smirking. “I win.”
“That’s enough.” Salem wandered into the room, her eyes going straight to Ruby. “Ruby has another lesson with Watts.”
Cinder nodded and started walking off while Ruby stood up and put a hand on her chest. Even with a blunt arrow, it still hurt. She looked over to Salem, a hopeful smile on her face. “I get to see my mother after, right?”
Salem turned and started leaving the room. “We’ll see.” She kept walking into another room, watching Summer appear from the shadows in front of her. “After today’s lesson, you’re taking Ruby somewhere else.”
Summer hesitated for a moment. “I… what do you mean? She hasnt done anything wrong, has she?”
“No, she hasnt. However, its about time for us to move onto the next phase of our plan and your daughter is going to be a big part of that.”
Summer sighed and looked down to the ground. “I’m… not going to see her again after that, am I?”
“You shouldnt, no.” Salem placed a hand on Summer’s shoulder, almost as if she was trying to comfort her. “But her lessons are over today. Now will be the perfect time to bring her back to your old team and start getting her close to Ozpin. And I already have a few others manipulating events to get her noticed.”
“I… I shouldnt be using her like this. Not to destroy Oz.”
“You are using her as she needs to be. She’s just a weapon, just like you were. And once we’re finished, she’ll be able to be whoever she wants in my new world.”
Summer nodded and went to start packing Ruby’s things. “I’ll take her to my old team tonight then. Knowing Qrow, she’ll end up on Oz’s watch list anyway.”

Yang glared at Raven with red eyes as she knocked the teapot off the table. “What the hell do you mean Ruby isnt who I think she is? I grew up with her!”
“Or did you grow up with who you were to think she was?” Raven gently sat down her cup, looking up at her daughter. “Ruby isnt who you think she is.”
“I think I would know who my own sister is!”
“But can you really say that? She isnt even your sister.”
Yang felt those words sting in her heart. Sure, Ruby wasnt her biological sister, but adopted sister still counted. “She is-”
“She’s an agent of Salem.”
Those words made Yang quiet. Sure, she was just learning who Salem was, but hearing from Raven that Ruby could possibly be in league with her… “No, she isnt.”
“And unfortunately, it's the truth.” Raven leaned back a bit, motioning for Yang to sit down. “Did you ever stop to think why she was found near Patch and no one claimed to know who she was or where she came from? Or why she seemed to have no problem with making sure Ozpin took notice of her? She was meant to get close to him.”
“So what… she just… pretended to be lost?”
Raven shrugged, reaching back for an old dairy. “That, I wouldnt know. But what I do know is that her mother is still alive and very much helping Salem.”
Yang eyed the old book that Raven had in her hands. “What’s that?”
“This-” Raven placed the diary down onto the table where the teapot had been. “-was Summer’s diary up until a few years ago. And in it is everything you need to know about that girl you claim to be your sister. It holds the truth on everything that’s going on, and I want you to have it.”
Yang slowly reached for the book, pausing for a moment as her fingers brushed against the spine. “How do I know this isnt a trick?”
“You came to me for answers, and I’m providing all of them for you. And if you still have doubts, then I can take you to Summer to learn more.”
Yang sighed, still unsure if she could trust her mother. As far as Qrow and her dad had told her, Summer had died years ago after disappearing. Just a missing teammate they couldnt seem to get over. But now, if what Raven was saying was true… “Just… get me to Qrow. I’ll figure this one out on my own.”
Raven nodded and used her semblance to create a portal to Qrow. “Just remember: dont trust Ozpin.”

So… been a while since I did one of these. Yeah, long story short 2020 just ruined my anxiety and a bunch of other things and I just couldn’t handle doing the reviews after I feel so behind during the first half of V8. Even the six-week break didn’t do anything to reignite the motivation or help the anxiety, so I decided it was best to quit and just wait for the volume to be over. Which with how emotionally draining the volume was which may have very well impaired my judgment at the time, was probably the best decision. But V8 has been over for months now and we’re awaiting V9. So it’s time to finally finish this.
I normally do one chapter per review, but since I now know all that’s coming, I’m going to do two chapters per review. That means four total reviews, then a mass V8 review, and then hopefully things go better when V9 starts. So last I left off, we got Cinder backstory, the Ace-Ops running into YJR, and Salem breaking Atlas’ shields to finally go forward with her invasion. The dark times are upon Atlas and our heroes are running out of time. So… what happens now? Well, let's find out.
Overview
I normally break down everything moment by moment, but we’re gonna keep it brief since there’s a lot to cover.
In War as Salem’s attack marches forward, all of our heroes are in a bind. RWB wants to help Atlas while May wants to return to Mantle and points out that they can’t have both. Nora is still in need of a doctor, which causes Whitley, who overheard, to call in a character that we haven’t seen in quite a while. With JYR, they were captured by the Ace-Ops, who has now been tasked to use a bomb to blow up the whale. Our heroes negotiate with Winter to allow them time to go in and rescue Oscar and causes Ren to make an unexpected discovery. Meanwhile, in the whale, Emerald overhears Oscar/Oz again pleading to Hazel to see reason, even going as far as to give him the password to the Lamp. Not for Salem, for Hazel. This causes Emerald’s doubts to become even more concerning and with Mercury leaving with Tyrian for Vacuo and Cinder focused solely on her quest for power, she is left alone to decide what she wishes to do.
In RWBY’s 100th chapter Dark, we are at the Schnee Manor where the power blows out. But when they recall that they have an emergency generator, Whitley realizes that they can use the SDC to get supplies to the Mantle refugees. Ruby and Blake go to restore the power as Ruby is still struggling to maintain her usual optimism, but they encounter a Grimm in the process. Specifically, The Hound. Meanwhile, Penny, who crash-landed in front of the Manor last episode, tries to maintain control as Watts’ virus goes into effect. During the battle, it ends with Ruby discovering The Hound. One that utterly horrifies her…
Review
Okay, there is a LOT to go over with these two chapters, So let’s break this down event by event.
Monstra
Let’s discuss our villains first since we have some pretty major developments. First, we have Hazel. We had just about everything that I had assumed before confirmed. The reason that Hazel works for Salem isn’t merely just because she claims to want a new world order. Honestly, I think that Hazel just fooled himself to justify his decision to himself. No, as he talks to Ozcar, the truth becomes crystal clear. Hazel has given up. He confronted her once, and all that happened was she kept coming back until he was too exhausted to fight anymore. She broke him. Fighting her was futile and by taking advantage of this, Salem set him on the only path that he had left: getting revenge on Ozpin. Even though he’ll reincarnate, he can still be hurt. He can still be killed. He can still suffer. It was all that Hazel had left, and it consumed him.
As much as I know that some had issues with Hazel’s backstory, losing your sibling to circumstances that weren’t really anyone’s fault but you still feel so angry that you just need to blame something is very understandable. I’ve been in that place. I think that many of us have. And to learn that he did try to fight Salem at first but in the end, gave up due to her immortality… can you imagine how many others likely went down that route? Wanting to fight Salem but when the horrible truth came out were left empty? RWBY went through it in V6 and barely recovered, so it’s easy to see where Hazel is coming from. It’s easy to see why he won’t believe Oz when he tells him what Salem’s true goal, the release of death via summoning the Gods judgment, is. Oscar takes over and reveals the password, trusting Hazel to decide for himself what to do. Not Salem, Hazel. Will it pay off? Only time will tell.
But Hazel isn’t the only one privy to this new information. Emerald overheard all of it. Whatever fears that she had were all confirmed. Mercury is dismissive, both not believing it (until Tyrian confirms it) and even if he did, points out that Hazel failed and fell into line. It’s going to take time for the assassin to change his mind. As far as he’s concerned, he’s on top of the world, or at least in the best place that he can be in. Better than when he was with Marcus at least. Emerald though? She’s been doubtful and scared since at least the end of V3, even earlier if we count the flashbacks in Beginning of the End. The only thing that has kept her around along with the fear of Salem has been her devotion to Cinder. But with how Cinder has been coldly dismissive of her thus far this volume and now knowing that she’s part of something far worse than she imagined, it looks like Emerald may be deciding that it’s not worth it anymore. The question is, will she act before it’s too late? With Mercury off to Vacuo, she’s on her own to make that choice.
The villains’ stuff is mainly setup for Chapter 9 but it’s good stuff. We’re getting everything in place for the many payoffs that we’ve been waiting a long time for. Many of us have been hoping for Emerald to defect. While IDT as many have wanted the same for Hazel, he’s certainly the nobler of his buddies and has shown signs of possible redemption, so I’ve been hoping for it. Oz and Oscar’s efforts seem to be paying off and Oscar taking over and playing a huge gamble is pure excellence. It’s both Oz trusting the boy and working in tandem with him showing how he is genuinely trying to be better and showing Oscar’s growth with his more diplomatic skills here. It failed to work on Ironwood, but perhaps this time he’ll have better luck.
JYR and the Ace-Ops
Like with the villains, their stuff is contained all within War. But boy do we have plenty to go over. With Atlas in utter chaos, to the point of all the citizens having to hide in a subway, Ironwood has decided to have Winter and her team bomb Monstra. Which makes sense… except that Oscar’s in there. Needless to say, JYR isn’t happy about that. But Harriet, Elm, and Vine remain committed to their ‘we have no feelings’ routine. Even though it’s so obvious that they’re lying through their teeth. Ren’s Semblance confirmed it, but it’s not hard to tell. Elm and especially Harriet are hiding their feelings through their anger and doubling down on following orders. Vine does try to remain reasonable, but otherwise retains his emotionless demeanor. Marrow… he just clearly doesn't want to be there anymore. He’s still trying to remain comitted to what he’s doing, but this and Chapter 9 are going to be changing that big time
And WInter? Oh Lord Winter. She wants to do the right thing but is bound to her loyalty and duty to Ironwood and Atlas, and she doesn’t know which one to follow. Her orders? Or her heart? The choice may seem like a no-brainer to us, but to Winter it’s more complicated. She feels that she owes Ironwood so much. Because of him and the military, she escaped her father and his control. I think that she does realize that this point that she’s just exchanged one puppetmaster for another, but she doesn't know how to cut the strings. We see some signs of hope, both in the last volume when she allowed Weiss and the others to escape, and here when she grants JYR’s request to go into the whale to find Oscar before the bomb arrives. She knows that if Ironwood finds out she’ll be in trouble. She remains conflicted, but it’s still a signt hat it’s not too late. It allows her (and Marrow forthat mater) to remain sympathetic while others like Harriet… well, they’re not making it easy, let’s leave it at that.
That brings us to Ren. He’s had it hard thus far, his emotional control slipping, his split-off from Nora, and everything that built up the last volume coming crashing down. He’s been pushing everyone away, but now? He can’t afford to do so. Not with Oscar in danger. When Harriet says that teammates are replaceable, he strongly disagrees. He and Jaune would absolutely know how wrong this is. They’ve never replaced Pyrrha after all. Even if one considers Oscar part of JNR, he’s never been considered the new Pyrrha. He’s just Oscar, their friend. When he finally admitted that to himself, it allowed Ren’s Semblance to evolve. Instead of simply masking emotions, he can now see them via colored flower petals. Yes dear readers, Ren is an empath.
This development is perfect/. It happened at the right time, Ren finally admitting his feelings for those that he cares about instead of internalizing them and pushing those people away as he has been with Nora. It’s a natural evolution of his powers. He can mask emotions to protect others from the Grimm, and now that he can take it off he can see beneatht he masks of others. Harriet and Elm’s rage. Vine’s uncertainty (I’m assuming anyways based on what happens later). Marrow’s sadness. Winter’s collection of so many different colored petals, reflecting the war that she is having with herself. Now that Ren is beginning to open up, he can now help others do the same. Semblances reflect the on using them, and I think this says a lot about what Ren is truly meant to be and will be in the future.
Schnee Manor
Now we get to the meat of this post. Let’s go over the events in War first. While our heroes are safe at Schnee Manor, they’re conflicted on what to do. May wants to, and by Dark does, go back to Mantle since things are just as bad there and they don’t have the military to save them. Weiss however? She wants to help Atlas. Despite everything, Atlas is still Weiss’ home and there are still family and innocent people that she wishes to save. She’s a Huntress, that’s her job. May however? Her family dismissed her when she was their son, and she made it very clear that she is in no way their daughter. Which first, that was a brilliant way to add that representation. Kdin confirmed that May was Transgender last volume, but now we have undeniable proof in the show itself and it was perfectly delivered. She also makes a good point, Mantle has no protection. The whole reason that RWBY went against Ironwood was that he chose to leave Mantle to die. At this point, it does seem like the heroes can have it both ways. It worked in the past, but not here. Not anymore. But even May admits as she leaves that at this point, there might not be anythign left to do for either city. It’s just… bleak. Even moreso than in V3.
This of course hits Ruby. Normally, her optimism and hope carry her through. It was practically what got the heroes through V6 alive and well. But now? No. Even she can’t deny how bad things have gotten. When she and Blake go to turn on the backup generator, it’s clear how conflicted she is. She wants to help everyone. She chose to send the message because it seemed like the best chance to save everyone. But the longer that she waits, the more unlikely it all seems. She’s becoming utterly overwhelmed. Honestly, with how 2020 went, I find this very relatable. You w\see all the suffering caused by COVID and the horror of the police brutality against Black people and so many other awful things we’re still in the midst of. You want to do something. You want to help everyone and want things to just be okay. But when you do, all of it weighs down on you because you simply can’t help everyone. As Klein said, you can only focus on what’s in front of you first. You feel helpless, scared, maybe even angry. But we’re only human. We can only do what we can a step at a time in whatever way we can, even if it’s just being a shoulder to lean on. It’s at least something.
This leads to something that I have practically been begging CRWBY to do for years now, have Blake comfort her. We’ve had very scarce Ruby and Blake interactions, but it’s always been pretty clear that Blake trusts Ruby and has followed her lead faithfully more or less since the team formed. I think it was very fitting for Blake to be the one who reached out to her as it calls back to when they first talked in Volume 1. Back when Ruby expressed her love of books and wanting to make the world better like the heroes that she would read about. How Blake admired her goal but also viewed it as rather childish. Considering everything with the Faunus oppression, the White Fang, and of course Adam, who could blame her? But Ruby gave her hope. Ruby got her to see that they can make the world better. That despite everything, it’s their job to protect everyone and to move forward. Ruby’s been able to push them ahead so much, and they all still need her. It’s what Ruby needed to hear and it shows how far that both girls have come since those early days at Beacon. Which since this happened in the 100th episode, was very fitting.
Now I’m not gonna say too much about The Hound here. The entire fight scene was awesome and the thing stalking through the Schnee Manor? It somehow felt more horrifying than The Apathy did in Volume 6. How do you manage that?! Whitley and Willow ultimately killing it via the armor was also pretty cool and it’s nice to see the civilian characters getting involved, showing that they don’t have to be helpless like with the ship captain and crew back in Volume 4. Then the final revelation, that The Hound was not only human but had Silver Eyes… yeah Ruby’s reaction could not be more justified. I’m gonna go into my thoughts more in the 11-12 review since Ruby goes more into her feelings there. But the revelations that this one scene caused… yeah, it’s added a whole new level of horror to not just Salem, but the Grimm as a whole. It’s kind of a bummer that The Hound was killed off and it just feels so soon, but with how so much is going on at this point… yeah I’m gonna forgive it especially since the death still leaves a lot to think about in the future.
So let’s talk Schnee family! First, Willow. I like how they handled her here. She’s an anxious mess, which makes complete sense. She has to keep forcing herself to not drink, but without that coping mechanism, she’s so anxious that she ends up running out of Weiss’ room in utter panic. Fortunately, she’s still able to get her act together enough to be of help. She uses the security cameras to warn Weiss and keep an eye on The Hound. Which also allows her to see it heading for Whitley. But instead of waiting on Weiss and since Whitley understandably doesn’t want to listen to her, she does the right thing: act like a mother and save her child. Including actually using her Glyphs to summon a Boarbutusk. Yes, Willow. In a jam-packed volume like this, it’s nice to see these bits of character development for even the minor characters and it was done well here.
Then we have Whitley. I’m gonna admit it, it feels like his change is pretty rushed, but again we have about a million other things going on. Plus I guess the worst situations can bring out the best in people. That’s certainly the case here. He over-hears RWB and May talking and decides to call Klein, who is apparently a doctor, not only a butler (the temptation to NOT make an ‘I’m a doctor, not an X’ joke after getting into Star Trek is REALLY hard XD) to treat Nora. Which Weiss’ reaction to seeing him and him not at all blaming her for being fired was just beautiful. But it’s Whitley making a decision. Not due to his father’s influence. Not to get Weiss’ attention. He did it because Nora needed help and it was simply the right thing to do. The fact that he acted independently makes Weiss so happy that she hugs him. It surprises Whitley… but you can tell that he’s happy about it.
I think that really encouraged Whitley. Jaques isn’t there anymore. There’s no one controlling his fate anymore. It doens’t matter if Whitley defies him now, Jaques can’t do a thing about it. It’s Whitley who realizes that they have the resources and ability to send supplies and help to Mantle. It’s him who goes to his father’s office to get the process underway. Even when The Hound comes in, he still makes sure to give the authorization before making a run for it. With the fear of his father gone and Weiss showing more support, Whitley is showing that he’s not a bad person. He was very much like his sister was; someone trapped and forced to succumb to the toxic influences to survive. He didn’t have the support that Weiss did, nor the skills that either of his sisters had that let them escape. But he’s taking those steps now. He has an attitude still, but he’s kind of where Volume 1-3 Wess was; a major brat but one very much on their way to improving. If Whitey ends up taking over whatever remains of the SDC or outright remakes it, I think that he’ll be a fine leader while his sisters continue as Huntresses.
Finally, we come to Penny. I should probably talk about Nora as well, but since Chapter 11 is when she expresses how she feels ike how Ruby does, I’m going to hold off until then As far as Penny goes… God, I… it just hurts. Knowing how this ultimately will end only makes it more painful to go back through. But just as Chapter 5 made it look like Penny would finally be allowed to choose for herself, Watts ruins all of it. This is a girl who is utterly trapped. Ironwood bound her down by isolating her and then forcing the protection of a whole city on her. Pietro, while well-meaning, was over-protective and allowing that to keep Penny held by her strings. He let go… and look at how it ended. The Maiden Powers, while something that Penny accepted, now has her targeted on all sides and she can’t escape them while bound tot he responsibilities that come with it. Now we have Watts’ virus and despite her best efforts, she can’t stop it.
It’s just… heart-wrenching. Especially when Nora wakes up and calms her down by reminding her that whatever is trying to take over is only a part of her, not the whole being. It works… for a few moments. But in the end, all that Penny can do is succumb. This girl truly has no control over anything. Not over her own life. Not over the abilities that she possesses. And now not even over her own mind and body. She keeps having her strings yanked back and forth, wanting to just snap them off but all her limbs are held in place so she can’t. Watching her act utterly robotic, blankly describing how she will open the Vault then self-terminate… it’s just so wrong. Not to mention her coming dangerously close to being carted off to Salem with only Ruby managing a Silver Eyes blast saving her. It was hard to watch back when these premiered but after the finale? It’s just… it’s just so cruel.
Both of these chapters were excellent. War is mainly a setup chapter and ho boy the event that it sets up for… Chapter 9 is gonna be fun to talk about! But it also had plenty of pay-offs, especially for Ren and great moments like May’s scene, Salem conducting the Grimm, and it just captures the bleakness yet determination of our heroes perfectly. Then Dark… boy is that chapter title appropriate. Again great moments like the Ruby and Blake talk, the entire fight sequence, and probably the most horrifying revelation thus far. There’s some minor stuff like the jailbreak as well that made RWBY’s 100th chapter, as well as the chapter to kick off the return after the six-week hiatus, a thrill to watch. That's not even going into Alex Abraham's spectacular score, especially when the big reveal/death of The Hound happens. Just... it's just perfect. It can feel like there’s just so much going on that it gets hard to keep up with at times… but to be fair, that’s how our heroes feel as well, so I supposed that’s appropriate.
Chapter Stats

Final Thoughts
When I watched these, all I could really do was stare wide-eyed. Even though I knew that this volume was going to be intense, somehow I wasn’t prepared for any of it. Certainly not for everything in these chapters. But all of it was just so freakin’ good. Does it feel emotionally draining? Yes. It was a big part of why I’m only getting to these several months later. But was it still worth watching? Absolutely. Compare Dark to the first chapter of Volume 1. RWBY has come such a long way. A lot of things both good and bad have happened in between, but it’s still going and I plan to be here until the bitter end. With quality like this, it gives me a good reason to stick around. So six more chapters/three reviews to go.

So, who wants to see me criticize a piece of RWBY media?
Because I really don’t have anything too positive to say about the RWBY comic.
Now this isn’t to say the RWBY manga is completely bad, as it does have a few nice expressions ( a lot of Blake’s from her issue are cute and the ending to the Blake one has a nice one with Taiyang out of context) and the basic idea behind the comics being an expansion on the events that couldn’t be told in Volume 4 is a good idea.
... But there are many problems with the issues. In fact, lets not mince words here: the manga has many of the same problems people like FMF and RWDE have to lie about in the original show.
First off is the canonical inconsistencies. One example of this is in the Blake issue, where a day before she leaves for her fateful train raid with Adam she confronts him on how he got several of his men killed.
... This scene has a few issues with canon.
First off, Blake CAN’T have been in Menagrie. Because in Volume 3 Episode 7, after Cinder gets rejected by Adam in Vale, Blake shows up and the second attempt takes place a couple days later with Blake having left. So this scene can’t happen.
Secondly, Blake acts shocked to hear Adam wants to kill a crapton of humans...when in the Black Trailer, she sounds shocked that Adam would blow up the traincar full of civilians even though she would have known about this beforehand. This also contradicts the Adam Character Short where Blake and Adam fight about him killing humans which HAS TO have taken place before this.
Third, Blake tries to make excuses for Adam in Volume 3, where she talks about him going off the deep end and how it was a gradual slope. But considering how this comic starts off with Blake first meeting Adam and that moment is portraying Adam as already being a psycho. So...Yeah, that’s confusing. You could argue that she is talking about Adam from that one scene in his Character Short where Adam was shocked to have killed a human...but that scene takes place when Ghira was the leader of the White Fang and considering Sienna is speaking at the beginning, that tells us she’s the leader now so Blake couldn’t have seen that. (Maybe she was told about it before but that is never indicated nor implied).
Fourth, Blake acts scared of Adam when they meet back up in Volume 3...but in this comic, she calls him out to his face:
So...yeah, another inconsistency. And this is just one part of one issue. There are other problems with canoncity like Yang’s issue takes place before getting her arm and yet she recovers by the end of the issue, still no arm.
But another big issue is how characters are portrayed. For this, I basically have five major examples to work with here.
Raven Taiyang Yang Adam Blake
With Raven, she shows up in a flashback in the Ruby issue badmouthing Summer to a young Ruby and Yang about how she couldn’t be a true mother to Yang...which doesn’t fit Raven at all. Yes, Raven is petty. Yes, Raven hates Summer. Yes, Raven cares for Yang. But these three things are NEVER portrayed as interconnecting. Raven is petty because her ego gets bruised like with how she rejects teaming up with Qrow because he badmouthed her, Raven seems to hate Summer in canon probably because of ideological reasons (since her hatred is directly connected to Ruby’s speech) and Raven does care for Yang but it is barely enough for her to regret her actions, let alone be this emotional and petty out of the blue over losing her role as Yang’s mom. This doesn’t work.
With Taiyang, while barely appears, he’s portrayed as this generic Cool Dad(Tm) who absolutely knows whats best for Yang...which he ISN’T in canon. He’s fucked up, he’s failed as a father before with shutting down on Yang and Ruby alongside telling Yang about Raven. Hell, it’s still prevalent as he can’t help Yang in her breakdown in Volume 4 Episode 3 when dropping that glass and flashing back to Adam. He doesn‘t show any hesitation or doubt or worry in his actions with Yang, he’s just generically confident.
With Yang, she thinks that an apothecary can regrow her arm despite the fact there is NOTHING in the world in Volume 4 to imply that such a thing is possible (otherwise this shit would be common knowledge) which is pretty fucking dumb for Yang. And then by the end of the issue, she’s all sunshine and rainbows...something she isn’t completely EVEN IN VOLUME 6. And this is BEFORE she gets her arm and has that talk with Oobleck, Port and Taiyang.
For Adam, he apparently cries over the idea that his underlings didn’t kill enough humans. Even ignoring how people DON’T cry over that, Adam would either be angry or pretend to be calm and noble due to how unstable he is and the lie he leads. And when Blake calls him out on his shit to his face, which would be robbing him of control in the situation, he just grabs Blake without even so much as a frown. Adam’s gone from an unstable individual grasping desperately for control to just a generic psycho.
And Blake? She barely acts like herself in the flashbacks. Blake acts like a clone of Ruby being all smilely and cute facial expressions instead of the moody, cynical, sarcastic introvert we know her as. Even if I were to give some benefit of the doubt and say her time in the WF made her more cynical, she should have SOME aspect of her current personality here instead of being Ruby.
Also the dialogue has issues on a fundamental level. In the scene that I referenced in the above, Adam gives the line ‘My only regret was that our white fang brothers could not have killed a hundred thousand more.’
First, the ‘White Fang’ part isn’t necessary, we can infer from ‘brothers’ and the context of the conversation he’d be talking about their comrades. Second, ‘could not’ is an incredibly awkward phrase to use, usually used with overly formal or robotic characters. Neither of these apply to Adam, he should have used the contradiction ‘couldn’t.’ Finally, the use of a ‘hundred thousand’ is cringy as hell. ‘Hundred’ or Thousand’ alone would have sold the mental image just fine but combining the two pushes the image into the realm of absurdity with how extreme it is, becoming rather try hard. These three on their own are annoying but altogether they’re inexcusable. The sentence should have been ‘My only regret was that our brothers couldn’t have kill a thousand more’, which flows so much better,
Again, not a singular case considering the title of the next issue is ‘The Woe’s Of Weiss Schnee’...either implying ‘Woe is’ or the woe possesses Weiss.
And lastly, the art. Not only is the art so off that some characters look younger than they should (Ghira, Kali and Taiyang look more like older siblings than parents and Adam without his mask looks the same age as Blake despite being five years older) but the art actively CONTRADICTS what is being said in the comic.
Again, look at the above images with Blake calling Adam out. Does she REALLY look like she’s scolding Adam and calling him a monster? Because the image more conveys that she’s trying to kiss him unironically. And the face she makes that’s suppose to look determined and defiant? Yeah, more like she’s miffed she didn’t get to kiss him. The art is REFUSING to convey the emotions that the dialogue and narration are trying to get across. And, one last time: this is not a single time problem. Adam not looking like his age gives him a look of innocence and purity when the story is all about how much of a monster he is, conflicting with what the story is trying to say even though the show made by overworked animators and written by people with barely any writing experience outside RWBY managed to do this FAR better (same with the looks of the scars, with the comic’s scar looking like goo while the original’s looks crusty and painful.)
I could go on (like how the Yang and Blake issues are basically pointless as Volume 4 Episodes 3,4 and 9 and the Adam Character Short do their jobs but better) but I’ve made my point. The comic feels like the delusions that RWDE has been spouting out for years (the ones they need to purposefully misinterpret scenes, cut context and outright LIE to make up) but real. I still can’t fully believe that such a thing can actually exist.
Fuck, when I can fully understand what RWDE means, you know you fucked up. (Although don’t go harassing the creators, that’s not okay no matter what.)

Hi! Ive just discovered your tumblr and I love your analysis of Rwby! I was wondering how you view the strange relationship between Emerald and Mercury. Some people interpret it as a sibling-like relationship, whereas others insist that Mercury is sociopathic (therefore caring nothing for Emerald) and that Emerald only cares about Cinder. Personally I can't tell if they're just like colleagues who more or less get along or if they deep down consider each other family. What are your thoughts?
Sociopath isn't a scientific term and definitely not an argument why Mercury can't care for Emerald. It's very clear that Mercury tries really hard not to give a shit about anything, but he has two fucks to give, one for himself and one for her. As much as he acts like he can't stand her, he seems to be glued to her side. He calls out for her in the V5 finale, he protects her from Tyrian just as she's ready to jump to his defence later, she's the only one he ever opens up to. I'm not sure if they'd call themselves friends, but there's something between them, and even though they're trying not to, they absolutely do care for each other. And I love that, because she's the only person in the whole wide world he has left and vice versa. She might be the only one who can make him leave Salem, and he might be the only one who can make her leave Cinder. It's a trope I'm weak for.
(Also thank you!)

If you guys could rewrite anything is RWBY, what would it be?
I’d change up a few backstories.
Hazel, instead of having a sister that got killed in a huntsman initiation, was a part of the Ozluminati with his sister, Gretchen. Gretchen was a silver-eyed warrior, fresh out of the academy, and was still very wide-eyed and innocent. She was forced to go fight battles that she wasn’t prepared for while under Oz. Despite this, she scraped by, becoming increasingly frustrated with victories that didn’t feel like anything had been done against Salem. Hazel watched as his sister became more and more despairing, and it began to shake his faith in Ozpin. Eventually, Gretchen was sent off on a mission that was deemed extremely dangerous. Hazel argued with Ozpin, stating that Gretchen was too young and inexperienced with her eyes, as well as not in the right mental state to go on a mission like this. Ozpin insisted, and two months after she left all that was left of Gretchen coming home in a small wooden box. From that point on, Hazel vowed to never let Ozpin take advantage of people like his sister again.
(He eventually found his way to Salem. IDK how. He’s also a pacifist unless he absolutely has to fight, because characters like that are cool as shit.)
Jaune came from a long line of hunters, and planned on following in his father’s footsteps. However, when he was eight, his dad was killed on a mission and his life changed. His family fell into poverty and Jaune, being second oldest out of seven children, took it upon himself to help his mother and older sister make money. He took up odd jobs such as construction, logging, farming, cleanup after demolitions, and other hard work in order to get money. He was wandering through the marketplace one day and somehow found his way into whatever the place where they put job offers up for huntsmen are. He saw how well the jobs paid, and realized that was going to be the best way to help his family recover. Jaune took up his father’s weapons and forged his transcripts into Beacon, vowing to make his father proud.
Also I’d have Blake be either an orphan or only have one living parent, and she comes from a very ramshackle district in Menagerie. She and Adam also never had a romantic relationship, and were more like siblings.
This isn’t a backstory thing but Cinder would barely speak after Volume 3. No offense to Jessica Nigri, but Cinder was at her absolute best when she didn’t say a word. If she does talk, it’s in a raspy, damaged voice, and it’s short, curt responses. She’s also never going to be back to her peak fighting condition. Cinder’s supposed to be fucked up after what Ruby did to her, so make sure she acts like it.
Another not backstory thing but RWBY did Adam so dirty. He could’ve been a great example of a well-intentioned extremist, but instead they went for a super boring and cliche “crazy ex-boyfriend” route and also made him bull-Hitler. Give him his old character back, let him have a character outside of “hurr durr kill Blek” and have all his reunions with Blake be bittersweet. Also, he was arguably one of the strongest characters in the show, and now he gets one shotted by a punch to the back of the head. Make my boy scary again.
Also some cultural things-
Vale is based half off of Europe, more specifically Spain, Italy, and Denmark, half off of modern Japan. The cities take more after Europe, but their nightlife is very similar to Japan. In the rural areas, the architecture and lifestyle is a blend of the two cultures.
Atlas is heavily inspired by Russia and Germany. Architecture and clothing is based more off of Russia, with buildings being colorful and reaching up towards the sky, onion domes topping them off. Clothing takes cues off of Imperial Russian clothing. Food, language, and cultural attitudes are more similar to Germany. Many great poets, composers, and thinkers come from Atlas, especially in more recent years. Also, Atlesian words are pronounced how they would be in German, because it kills me whenever they don’t pronounce Weiss like “Vais”.
Menagerie actually looks like the crowded, beat-up place it’s supposed to be.
Other-
Actually show discrimination against Faunus. And the discrimination would be more of a metaphor for bigotry in general. Make it so that Faunus are super rare at Beacon and the other academies. Like, out of a school of about 400, have only like 15 Faunus attend. Show a human start to flirt with Sun, notice his tail, and then their attitude does a 180. Make Ruby never have seen a Faunus, and unknowingly ask some ignorant questions to Velvet like “Can I feel your ears?” or some shit. Honestly, put in most of u/StoryBeforeNumbers says in this thread on Reddit, except his idea for the Black Trailer.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/5gjhva/alternative_ways_the_faunus_story_could_have_been/
(Seriously, this guy has really good ideas for RWBY. I love his stuff.)
....aaaaand that’s about it. What about you guys? If you had the authority, what would you do with the show?

Cinders (Prince Lucio x Reader)
A/N: This is based off a Cinderella story but in this one the pronouns are they/them so if your a boy or girl then u both can enjoy it lol. This is almost like any other Cinderella story in this Lucio is the prince in this story u will have a mean step mother and 2 mean step siblings the rest you'll just have to found out as u read lol
this is also a tad long about 6000 or more words ;-; I'm sorry
Narrator's P.O.V
Once upon a time there was a beautiful/handsome young girl/boy named (Y/N), however they lived in a home along with their step mother and two step sisters, their father use to live within that house as well but he sadly passed when (Y/N) was just a mere child, ever since they lost their father their step family has been treating poor (Y/N) as a slave making them do all the chores as they just lay and do absolutely nothing. They even gave (Y/N) a nickname that wasn't all so nice, Cinders was what they called her after so long. After a while they grew used to the cruel nickname. However (Y/N) was a sweet girl that never really had a say in anything. If their stepmother or step sisters want something done then they'll get it done with no questions asked. However what (Y/N) didn't know was their life was just about to change for the better.
No One's P.O.V
(Y/N) was cleaning up the living room when a knock was heard from the door, they set the broom away and went to answer it. Once (Y/N) opened the door she was met with the mail boy who seemed to be holding a letter, (Y/N) accepted the letter and thanked the mail boy. (Y/N) closed the door behind them, looking over the letter till they soon realized it was no ordinary letter, it was none other then an invitation to Prince Lucio's birthday masquerade, he holds one every year but common folk aren't usually invited to these things but seeing how they revived one it must mean something will happen that involves the common folk as well.
Y/N's P.O.V
As I was cleaning I heard a knock on the door, I knew my step mother and step sisters weren't going to answer it so I decided to answer it myself as always. When I opened the door I was met with the mail boy. I gave him a small smile as he handed me a letter, well I thought it was a letter till I walked back inside and got a good look at it. My eyes grew wide when I saw it was an invitation to the Prince's birthday masquerade, I didn't think common folk were invited these days, either that or he's being forced to invite the common folk this year, I let out a low sigh before finally calling for my step family letting them know of the invitation.
"Step mother! Step sisters! A letter from the royal palace had just arrived!" I yelled out hoping they didn't hear a thing, but sadly my prayers weren't answered, as I was about to walk away when out of nowhere my step sisters ran right at me like a couple of raging bulls, they quickly snatched the letter from my grasp as they ripped it open. I sighed at how crazy one can get at receiving a mere invitation from the palace. It is rare indeed but they could at least act a bit civilized and not like a bunch of wild animals. As my step sisters read the letter they screamed so loud that I swore I could hear the windows rattle in not just our house but the neighboring houses as well. I looked at them as they kept freaking out.
"We have just been invited to the Prince's masquerade ball!" The first step sister yelled happily as they hugged the invitation to their chest. They had red curly hair with blue eyes and were a bit a lot taller than her sister.
The second step sister grabbed the invitation from her sister's hands as they looked over it before squealing herself. "It's been my dream to attend the masquerade! Especially in hopes to meet the prince himself." She then started swooning at the thought of meeting the prince, this step sister was younger then her sister therefore she was also a bit smaller than them, she had red curly hair along with her sister and green eyes.
I just stared at them thinking maybe I could go as well. I was about to ask when my thoughts were interrupted by none other than my step mother.
"Daughters(This is toward the two step sisters not you), what with all the screaming, I'm getting complaints from our neighbors." She groaned as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"We're sorry mother but we just got an invitation from the palace! Were all invited to the prince's birthday masquerade!" The first step sister started jumping around in delight.
My step mother gasps in shock. "Is this true? I guess the prince finally came to his senses and decided to finally invite me to his birthday masquerade."
I looked down at the floor before speaking. "M-maybe I could go as well? I finished all my chores twice. I've also always wanted to go." I looked up at my step mother with pleading eyes.
She sighed, shaking her head. "Cinders, You know that ain't possible. You just have too much to do, you'll be far too busy to attend the masquerade."
"But.."
"No buts dear. You will stay here and finish your chores. The Masquerade is tonight, so before we leave I will make a list of all the things you must do. Do I make myself clear?"
I nodded sadly. "Yes step mother.."
She smiled before putting her finger under my chin causing me to look up at her. "Good. Now go to your room till then." I sighed before walking away towards my closet of a bedroom, as I entered I was greeted with a cool breeze from the open window by my bed which was just a pile of hay with a sheet upon it. I walked towards my bed and fell face first into my hay bed, I groaned as I laid on my back staring up at the ceiling mumbling a few things. "Why can't I go to the masquerade.. I've been working my butt off non stop.. And yet here we are still can't go out to events like the prince's masquerade.." After a while I ended up falling asleep till I was awoken a few hours later by my step mother yelling my name from below the stairs. I groaned sitting up and heading down the stairs.
As I reached the bottom I saw my step sisters wearing two different gowns, one was blue with a hint of red and the other was red with a hint of blue. The next thing I noticed was their mask. One was a white mask with specs of yellow which I assume is supposed to look like gold. The other mask was yellow with specks of white. I was about to speak when My step mother spoke first.
"Cinders were heading out, your chores list is on the table in the kitchen, this place better be spotless by the time we return home."
I then nodded. "Yes, step mother." I picked up the broom and watched as they left, as soon as the door closed I walked over to the kitchen seeing the chores list when I picked it up it reached all the way to the floor, I let out a low growl before getting started, I decided to first start with the garden since it was always my favorite place to work on especially at night. As I was raking the dead leaves off the ground out of nowhere a girl in a white dress with gold trim appeared before my eyes. I nearly jumped out of my own skin. "W-who are you!?" I held the rake close to myself prepared to attack.
The girl then dusted themselves off before looking up and me. "I-i'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you! I'm still a bit new at this.."
I looked at them in confusion. "New at what?.."
They clapped her hands together before speaking again. "At being your fairy godmother of course!"
I looked at her in disbelief. "M-my what now?"
She scratched the back of her neck sheepishly. "Ik it's hard to take in.. But I'm your fairy god mother! I'm here to help you go to the masquerade!"
"Let me just say I believe you're my fairy godmother, but how on earth am I going to go to the masquerade without my step family noticing me.. Plus I don't have any clothes thats write for the party.." I looked at my ragged clothes which had rips and tears in them along with my shoes which were run down to the point that the souls were no more.
She giggled a bit. "That's why I'm here! Plus it's a masquerade so no one will notice it's you because you'll be wearing a mask, silly. Oh and I may be a fairy godmother but I'm not a mother myself so you can call me fairy god sister or Portia! You see Portia is my true name."
I looked at her, still a bit confused. "I didn't know Fairy god mothers had real names, but ok I'll call you Portia from now on."
She smiled wide before giving me a big hug. "Excellent! Now lets see what we can do with those clothes of yours." Portia then grabbed a hold of her wand and started swishing it around causing a bit of magic to swirl around myself. I closed my eyes shut tight scared of what was happening but when I reopened my eyes I was in a magnificent (Outfit/color of outfit). My eyes widened as my old ragged clothes were transformed into something spectacular.
"H-how did you do this?" I was still in shock.
She smiled wide seeing how happy I was at the choice. "Magic! I knew you were going to like that outfit! It suits you so well. Now the shoes.." She flicked her wrist again as magic swirled around my feet causing my shoes to change in the process.
"Whoa! My old shoes are now (Shoes style), I'm liking this a lot more now, thank you Portia."
"Of course! But we are not quite done yet." Portia started looking around a bit.
"Were not? What else is there?" I looked at Portia who was still looking around.
"Well for starters you still need a mask and then you need a ride to the masquerade." She groaned, finding this more difficult than she thought.
I then looked down at my feet sheepishly. "W-well I may or may not have a mask already.." I then pulled out a mask that looked as if it was handmade and not bought.
She gasps. "That's perfect! Did you make that yourself? It's beautiful."
I nodded shyly. "Yeah.. I've been working on it late at night as my step mother and step sisters slept.."
"I love the mask. Now that we have that covered all you need now is a ride.." She started walking around thinking till out of nowhere another voice was heard. We both turned our heads seeing the mail boy lifting himself up on the fence.
"M-maybe I can be of service.. (Y/N) has always been so nice to me, the least I could do is give them a lift to the masquerade."
Portia and I both smiled wide. "Really?! Thank you so much!" The mail boy scratched the back of his neck shyly blushing a bit. "O-of course! Now let's go before you're late for the Prince's big announcement!"
I looked up at him in confusion. "Announcement?"
"Yeah I heard the Prince was going to have a big announcement to announce at the masquerade tonight." He grabbed a hold of my hand and helped me over the fence as I waved bye to Portia but before I got into the mail boy's mail carriage I heard Portia yell out to me. "One more thing I almost forgot! Make sure to be back by the stroke of midnight! That's when the spell wears off! I don't know why it's like that but I guess it's the rules of this whole fairy godmother thing! So make sure to be back by the stroke of midnight!"
I gave her a slight nod before riding off with the mail boy.
After a while We soon arrived at the palace. I gulped a bit nervous and scared at the same time I was about to get out till I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around looking at the Mail boy who looked worried. "Be careful in there alright (Y/N).." He gave me a soft hug before I excited the mail carriage, I looked up at the huge palace right in front of my eyes. I took a deep breath before walking through the large double doors.
Lucio's P.O.V
I was sitting apon my throne as guest started arriving for my birthday masquerade, I groaned a bit out of pure boredom, I still couldn't believe I was convinced into inviting the common folk especially for this stupid announcement I have to make. I laid my head back to where it was now touching my throne. I was about to close my eyes and hopefully get some rest but that was immediately interrupted when my two lovely dogs ran up to me with something in their mouths. I was about to ask them what they were carrying but that was also interrupted when my trusty advisor ran up to me panting saying my dogs took off with a few of his scrolls. That now answers what they were holding in their mouths. I sat up groaning again. "Mercedes, Melchior drop the scrolls." As I said those words both the dogs dropped the scrolls they were carrying. I then stood up stretching before looking at my advisor. "Is it time to make the announcement yet?"
"Not yet your highness.. We're still waiting on a few royal families to show up.. They should be here soon."
I groaned once again. "Don't they know not to keep a prince waiting on his birthday nonetheless! Plus I hate having to wait.." I pouted while crossing my arms over my chest.
"I-i know your highness.." My advisor started talking which I of course was now tuning out till I saw the doors to my palace open once again thinking it was the royals I was waiting on but sadly I was wrong when the doors opened I saw young person around the same age as I wearing a (Your Outfit Choice) with a beautiful mask, for a second I couldn't look away but when I looked away for a split second the mysterious person that had just walked in was nowhere to be seen I was about to walk down to try and find them but I was stopped by my advisor who told me it was now time for the announcement. I groaned before walking to the front of the stairs which had a red carpet flowing down all the way to the bottom. I cleared my throat clinking a fork to a glass of Champagne which I now held in my hand.
"Everyone! Thank you for showing up on a special day today! As you all know, today is my birthday!" Everyone started cheering a bit and yelling happy birthday. When the room went silent I started speaking again. "As you may see there are others here that are new to my birthday masquerades, I was convinced by my trusted advisor to allow the common folk of this town to attend my birthday masquerade! I'm not against it, I just didn't think of it before. However, that's not the only announcement I have to make today! As it came to my attention In order for me to become king of this fine town I need to marry! So today I will be choosing one lucky person to be my wife/husband!"
Everyone started gasping and cheering saying they hoped it would be them as they talked among themselves. "Now you're probably wondering how will I decide that, well I'll decide by dancing with each and everyone of you that wishes to have a shot at being my spouse!"
After a bit I ended up finishing my announcement and began dancing with a lot of different men and women. But the one I was hoping to dance with was nowhere in sight. I decided to take a break from dancing and walk out to the garden to get some fresh air with Mercedes and Melchior. I sighed walking upon the grounds of the palace gardens. As I was walking I spotted someone sitting upon the fountain, as I walked toward them I ended up stepping on a branch startling the person, apparently my tactic to be stealthy failed. The person ended up jumping up from the fountain staring right at me. I looked at them curious about who they were. "Who may you be? You look like royalty but even with the mask I would be able to tell who you were so seeing how I can't means I've never seen you before, so you must be one of the common folk."
The person gave me a small nod. I smiled a bit. "Shy are we now? Well don't worry I won't bite, but I'm curious why is someone like you out here all alone in the garden instead of enjoying the party."
"I-i needed some fresh air.. This is my first time attending one of your parties.. Especially one that's your birthday.." The person looked down at their feet sheepishly.
I smirked a bit. "Well I'm here for the same thing to be honest. After dancing with so many different people I needed a break and needed to take my lovely's out for a bit of a walk." I gestured towards my two dogs as they looked up, their eyes grew wide before walking up to them.
"Their so cute! I've always loved dogs, but I wasn't able to have one since my step sisters claim to be allergic to them.. When truth is they didn't want a dog.." The person soon gently patted Mercedes' head and soon did the same with Melchior's.
I frowned. "That's a shame.." I was about to head back in when I looked at the time it was 10 minutes till midnight, which means my party was already almost over. I looked over at the person smiling a bit holding out my hand. "Seeing how the party is almost over, I would love to dance with you." The person looked up at me with wide eyes, I could tell they were also blushing because a hint of pink was seen upon their cheeks. "So what do you say? Will you dance with me?"
Y/N's P.O.V
I was walking around the party as everyone danced and talked among themselves I saw my step sister's from a far as my stepmother was now dancing with the prince, I let out a low sigh before walking out to the palace gardens, I've been here for a few hours already and I needed some fresh air, It was my first time being here at such a party. As I walked deeper into the garden I saw a fountain in the center of it all, I couldn't believe my eyes it was such a beautiful fountain. I decided to sit on the edge of it as I rested my feet. After a while of sitting I heard a branch snap from around the corner. I immediately stood up to see what or who it was. As I stood I saw the cause of the noise was none other than the prince himself. I never thought I would be meeting the prince, it's like fate wanted us to meet. After a while of the prince and I talking he offered to dance with me, I nearly choked a bit confused on why he would want to dance with me when the dances he's been doing is a way to find him a spouse. I was scared and yet a bit shy but I gratefully took a hold of his hand nodding agreeing to a dance. The only reason why I agreed was because I didn't want to be rude and didn't want to decline an offer from the prince.
"I'd love to dance with you, your highness." He gave me a smile as he pulled me closer to him and placed one hand on my waist as the other held my hand. I took a deep breath as we started dancing around the garden where no one else could see, well that's what I thought but what I didn't know was that one of my step sisters was standing on the balcony that had the view of the garden. She managed to see the prince and I dancing around which made her gasp and run back inside to tell her sister and step mother that the prince was having a private dance with a mysterious party goer. As the prince and I were happily dancing I thought nothing could go wrong. Well that was until I heard the clock from inside the palace ding a few times indicating it is now midnight and that the party is over, my eyes grew wide. I stopped mine and the prince's dance, he looked at me in confusion. "What's wrong? The party may be over but that doesn't mean we have to be. We can dance all night."
I started blushing a bit but started shaking my head. "I-i can't.. I-i'm sorry but I gotta go!" I started to run off but what I didn't realize was the prince followed after me. When I thought I was in the clear the prince grabbed a hold of my wrist and looked at me with saddened eyes.
"Where are you going so soon.. I thought we were having a moment.."
I sighed before getting out of his grip and running off again. "I-i'm sorry! As I was running I saw the mail boy's carriage. I quickly jumped in but as I did I ended up dropping my mask. I was about to pick it up but I saw the prince was close by so I quickly shut the door to the mail carriage and told the mail boy to get us out of here. Which he gladly did, I sighed in relief as the palace got smaller and smaller with distance, I soon arrived back home and was now back in my old clothes. I waved bye to the mail boy as I walked inside the house quickly finishing up my chores before my step mother and step sisters could return. I quickly put a thing of soot onto my face and clothing to make them think I was home cleaning all day.
I was about to close my eyes to rest for a bit but that was soon interrupted when the door slammed open causing me to jump. I looked up seeing my step family walk inside not looking so happy. "Hello family, how was the masquerade?"
My step sisters both groaned as one of them spoke. "It was good at first till some mysterious person got in the way and hogged the prince all to themselves! It was horrible! I barely got to dance with him.."
I had a slight blush on my cheeks but soon shook it off so they wouldn't notice. "Oh.. I'm sorry.. Why was the prince dancing with others? I thought he only danced herself to show off" I looked at them trying to be as curious as possible.
"Because they were trying to figure out who'll be his spouse! And it'll definitely be me!" The first step sister said happily till the second one chimed in. "No it'll be me! He was definitely flirting with me as we danced!" She cheered happily as she twirled around.
"He was not! He was complaining the whole time because you kept stepping on his feet!"
"Was not!" The second step sister shoved her sister a bit
She scoffed and yelled back "Was to!"
I sighed as my step sisters kept fighting, I got up off the floor as I walked up to my small room.
Time skip dew to writer being tired like crazy
As I was sleeping a stroke of sunlight broke through my window and right into my face I groaned before sitting up stretching as I rose from my small bed. I couldn't help but think of how I left the prince last night. I should've told him the real reason why I couldn't stay longer. I looked down at the floor thinking of what the prince was doing right now.
Lucio's P.O.V
I started pacing back and forth in my room as I couldn't help but think about that mysterious person that I danced with in the garden. All I could think of was how they looked at me, How their (H/L) (H/C) blew in the wind as we danced. I sighed laying back on my bed holding up something that they ended up leaving behind. I stared at the mask for a while seeing that it wasn't made in any story yet it was handmade, the person that I danced with last night must be very crafty. I groaned not being able to take it any longer. "Advisor! Get in here!" As I yelled for my advisor he quickly ran into the room thinking I was injured, which I pretty much was. I needed my broken heart to be mended and in order to do that I must find the mysterious person from last night.
"Yes, your highness?" He gave me a quick bow before looking back at me.
"I need you to send out a notice to everyone in town letting them know that I will be on the hunt for my mysterious party goer, they ended up dropping something last night before they left. It was something handmade. I won't say what it is because everyone will just try and claim that they made it, so I will ask each and everyone of them what that item was. " I looked down at the item in my hand as I looked back up at my advisor. "What are you waiting for! Go and send out the notice!"
His eyes grew wide as he quickly ran out going into town making the announcement.
After a while I ended up taking a few guards along with Mercedes and Melchior with me as I went from door to door seeking for the person I've been dying to find but sadly none of them was the the right person I was about to give up when we reached the last house in town. I took a deep breath as I knocked on the door. After a while it was answered by two girls with red curly hair, one with green eyes and the other with blue eyes. I cleared my throat as I then spoke. "I am here to see if my mysterious party goer is here."
The two girls let me in before they started talking. "You highness I am the mysterious party goer you danced with last night.. I'm sorry I didn't come forward sooner.." The first girl who was taller than the other spoke. I was about to speak up myself when I was interrupted by the second girl who was shorter than the other. "Your highness she's not the mysterious party goer you danced with! I am!"
"No she's not! I swear I am the one!" The first shoved the second out of the way as she stood in front of me.
"No I am!" The second got up and shoved the first before they both started arguing.
I groaned before snapping at the two. "Enough! Neither of you are the mysterious person I danced with! The person I danced with was lovely and caring and I see I wasted my time coming here because all I see are two girls who do nothing but bicker and fight. I'm never going to find the person I danced with in the garden.." I sighed and was about to leave till I felt Mercedes and Melchior tug on my pants leg, I was confused till I looked around. "Does anyone else live here?"
The two look at me then away saying no. "Then who does the house chores here? It obviously ain't either of you because you two don't look like the type to do any type of house chores so i'll ask again does anyone else live here." I glared at them as they both gulped before nodding.
"Y-yes.. Now that I remember we have a servant but they're not home right now.. They're out shopping for groceries.. Were dangerously low.." The first girl spoke as she looked at me scared.
I frowned. "I see.. I guess I'll have to come back later then.." I was about to walk out the door when it opened before my eyes, a person with (H/L) (H/C) waltzed right in carrying a few bags of what looked like groceries of sorts. I could hear the two girls that were behind me groan seeing that they were hoping that the person who had just walked in would've been gone longer.
I looked at them before smiling a bit as they set the bags down. They turned around and nearly jumped, getting a bit startled by my presents.
"Hello there, seeing how you just walked in through the door I assume you live here?"
They slowly nodded before looking down a bit the same way the mysterious person that I met in the palace garden. "May I ask you a simple question. That's all I ask, then I'll be on my way."
They then nodded again. "Good! Were you at the masquerade last night?"
After a bit of silence they then spoke up. "No.."
I frowned before Mercedes and Melchior approached them, giving them a good sniff till they started wagging their tails and barking happily. I smiled before asking again. "It seems Mercedes and Melchior like you. They don't usually walk up to strangers, which means you were at the masquerade last night." The person before me was about to speak till they were interrupted by the two girls that were fighting earlier.
"That's impossible! They were here cleaning all night! They wouldn't disobey an order!"
I looked back and forth from one another till I heard the Mysterious person yell out.
"I was at the Masquerade!" I can tell they couldn't keep up the charade any longer.
The two girls gasped at their sudden outburst before they got angry. "You are in so much trouble! You disobeyed mothers order!"
"I don't care! I've been treated like a slave all my life! And I'm sick and tired of it!" They yelled out at the two girls who were now on the ground scared, probably not used to seeing this side of them. However I was extremely amused.
Y/N's P.O.V
As soon as I walked down the stairs from my room my step sisters gave me a long list of groceries to buy, I let out a sigh before heading out to get everything that was requested. When I returned I saw the royal carriage outside my home, my face immediately went pale before walking inside to see the one and only Prince talking with my step sisters. Once the Prince noticed that I was here he started asking me a couple of questions which I sadly had to lie about so my step family didn't have to find out about it but sadly I failed since his dogs recognized my scent right away and started barking at me trying to say hello. That's when the prince noticed and started smiling seeing how he had found the one he was longing for. However my step sisters starting arguing saying that I wasn't the one he was looking for since I was supposedly here all night last night. I had enough of them and that's when I snapped yelling out that I was at the masquerade last night causing the prince to smirk and the two sisters to gasp. That's when it all turned down hill my secret was now out and my sisters were furious but I wasn't backing down, I wasn't going to be treated like a slave any longer. "I'm tired of being treated like a slave! Ever since my father passed you and your mother have been treating me like some servant!" I let out a low growl before my step mother walked in from the back yard.
"What is going on?!" She then saw the prince before bowing. "Y-you highness I-i'm so sorry for my daughter/son they don't know any manners unlike my two daughters right here." She gestures towards the two red heads who were now curtsying or at least trying to.
The prince and his dogs didn't look pleased; he then looked towards me before speaking. "One more question about last night. What was it that the Mysterious party goer dropped as they made their escape from the palace."
I sighed before speaking, looking up to look the prince in the eyes. "A hand made mask.."
He smiled with pride knowing that his journey was finished. "It's you.. It really is you.. The one I danced with in the garden.." He took a hold of my hand giving it a light kiss causing myself to blush.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you.. I didn't want them to find out." I pointed at my step family who were trying to protest what the prince was doing with my hand.
He then smirked before wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "I completely understand, but now that I have found you.." He then knelt down on one knee pulling out a box with a beautiful diamond ring. "Last night was a memorable one.. I couldn't stop thinking of you since you left.. Which is strange even for me, because all I usually think of is myself! Even though I am pretty awesome. But I want to spend the rest of my life with you, the mysterious person who I danced with in the garden.. I was going to wait to do this at the palace but I couldn't help myself so will you do me the honor of being the love of my life and marry me?" He looked at me with pleading eyes.
I looked from him to my step family who was trying to stop the proposal but was being growled at by the prince's dogs, I then looked back at the prince and smiled before pressing my lips against his before pulling apart saying yes. He smiled wide as he slid the ring onto my ring finger, he then picked me up and started twirling me around with delight. "I'm glad I finally found you.." He kissed me cheek as he led me out to the royal carriage where the dogs were now awaiting for us after they scared my step family enough to not have them follow us.
I smiled as I rested my head on his shoulder. "I'm glad you found me as well.."

Cinder I appreciate the enthusiasm and love but you've probably heard all there is to hear, so I'll reblog this and take it as an opportunity to dump information about it onto @falsemood (who I very much appreciate asking)
-Remus is Ariel cause he's my emotional support chaotic bastard and I get to make him the main character in my au
-Virgil is the "Prince Eric" of this au and Logan is his advisor. Both of them have been pinning HARD after each other for years, but have been hesitant to act on anything because of the whole one of them being royalty thing
-(((Actually this was supposed to be just an Intrulogical au origanally, but @awkwardthings6 loves analogical and we concluded analomus was the perfect compromise ship for both of us and I fell in love with the idea)))
-Roman is just a very concerned brother who wants to protect his reckless sibling because we stan a healthy creativitwins relationship. Also both of the boys are octopus merpeople, because if Remus gets tentacles than damn it so does Roman.
-Roman is also courting Remy, a palace worker, because if he has to be a background character in his brother's fairytale he deserves some love and happiness, ✨as a treat.✨ (It also gives me the opportunity to spread my Rosleep agenda)
-Janus and Patton are the twins adopted parents (whose biological parents were killed by humans) and the king's of Atlantica
-Because of this Janus is very overprotective of the boys. Patton too but Janus shows it by being strict while Patton is more gentle about it
-A lot of angst between Remus and his family
-Ursula is the Dragon Witch (get it cause she's called the Sea Witch in the movie) and also Janus's sister. It all makes sense in the fic, I promise.
-Virgil absolutely believes in creatures and cryptids of all kinds while Logan doesn't believe in anything like that so much he boarders on using unlogical logic to explain things away
Virgil is also absolutely suspicious of Remus from the moment they find him. He's sure he's seen him before. Logan on the other hand keeps insisting the two of them survived the ship wreck because of "the wind"
-"The wind" is Logan's go-to excuse for anything he can't explain away
Ummmm that's all the basics I can think of right now, but please feel free to ask in the notes or my inbox if anyone wants more specifications on anything
PLEASE I am BEGGING anyone to ask me about my analomus Little Mermaid au I'm writing

hELL YEAH! Thank you so much for filling that prompt! I am the happiest. Qrow is Qrow and Ozpin is longsuffering and asdfghjkl this is perfect. This au gives me life omg. Please write more in this universe someday maybe if you want to. 1 question tho? Does Ozpin give in? ;D
Yay!! I’m so glad you’re the happiest :D For the record Ozpin absolutely caved… eventually. He might often be the embodiment of an old and stuffy headmaster, but he’s also only human ;)
Oh man, I’d love to continue this AU, but I’m gonna be diligent and wait until I’ve AT LEAST finished Beyond the Path/a significant amount of Jungles Amongst Deserts. In lieu of actual writing though I’m putting some thoughts below the cut for my own notes + anyone who’s interested in reading a jumbled mess of ideas lol
Okay right SO
Modern Sense8 AU. Ozpin, Qrow, Glynda, James, Tai, Salem, Raven, and Summer are all a cluster (now the same age) and are, in short, living in a Not Good world. Oh, everything seems great to like 97% of the population, but senseates are quickly becoming an extinct species - a far cry from the dominance they expected just a decade or so ago. Ozpin’s cluster is not only famous for their survival, but also their continued willingness to fight given all that they’ve lost. As the ficlet lays out: Summer died a while back (taking her own life rather than being captured - a la Angelia), Raven betrayed them to work alongside Salem but also sorta ambiguously to just help herself (a la Jonas), and Salem herself now runs BPO. It’s an organization Ozpin once believed in… though that was a long time ago.
Thanks to Glynda’s ability to re-create blockers and the implants James invented (with numerous other side effects…) the remaining five have been able to mostly cut Raven and Salem off from their cluster. It’s not perfect though. It’s why Ozpin has never seen the two girls that came out of Tai/Summer/Raven’s union - the only currently known children born within a cluster. Out of them all Ozpin has the strongest link with Salem and he can’t risk her knowing about - let alone finding - these two kids. So he just gets vague stories from Qrow and Tai, he teaches, tries to live a normal life alongside their battles, makes sure Glynda knows how grateful he is that she moved to his University, gives support to Bart and Peter (the only survivors of their own cluster, men who should have gone mad with the loss, yes still somehow exude confidence and optimism), he tries to keep James from launching an all-out war; the kind that would catch non-senseates in the crossfire.
Except that one day (either by coincidence or fate, depending on what you believe) Ozpin runs into Ruby after a street brawl and knows instinctually that she’s a senseate like the rest of them, that her sister Yang is too. It’s startling on a number of levels: that children born to two other senseates indeed appear to be sensates themselves, that siblings would automatically belong to the same cluster (it happened with Raven and Qrow, but everyone explained that away with them being twins), and that they’re so young. Ozpin doesn’t know when Ruby and Yang’s second birth will come - or who among his own cluster might induce it - but it will be soon and they need to protect them.
So Ruby and Yang come to Beacon University, excited, but not quite sure why the adults in their lives are acting so strangely. It’s a frustrating mystery until suddenly (at the most inopportune time, no doubt) she starts feeling connected to Yang in ways even their close bond can’t explain. And soon the two of them are getting visions of people all around the world: a Greek martial arts champion named Pyrrha (who Yang already follows as only a True Fan would), a Chinese boy named Ren dealing with the recent loss of his father, the street girl named Nora who has been helping him through that struggle, a seemingly normal kid named Jaune with far too many sisters running around (he didn’t need six more girls in his head too!), Blake the runaway with ties to another anti-senseate faction, and finally Weiss, the homeschooled girl in Germany who’s heir to a massive fortune - the one Ruby feels the strongest connection to and the one Ozpin can most easily exploit. They’re likely to bump heads on that.
Unbidden, the birth of Ruby’s cluster sets a whole string of things into motion. Ozpin and his cluster are suddenly dealing with the appearance of a new generation in a world quite inhospitable to their kind. They’re trying to fight a war they never wanted their kids involved in. Ruby’s cluster is working through what the hell is happening to them, and trying to live semi-normal lives in the process - with all the drama, romance, and mistakes one would expect.
And for a while it works. For a while they’re safe. There’s school and discovery and befriending people so very different from them. But then Ruby’s cluster encounters a long missing sensate named Cinder, a woman with black eyes and the knowledge - the abilities - of her entire cluster, though the rest of them are gone. She’s powerful, vicious… and no longer quite human. Both clusters realize that Salem and BPO aren’t just eradicating other sensates, they’re changing them. They’re fighting monsters now, and Ozpin isn’t sure if these kids are ready for that.
Or if he is either.
okay yeah I’m done
